- 1:10Speaker 1: I Heart Radio app or anywhere else you listen to

- 1:15Speaker 1: put more and more episodes out there, and today I
- 1:18Speaker 1: promise you will not let you down with our guests. Today,
- 1:23Speaker 1: I bring that energy because I had some lines, man,
- 1:25Speaker 1: some more some mushrooms. Man, it just got you got
- 1:27Speaker 1: me the mood. I just I was feeling chars and
- 1:29Speaker 1: ready to go. So today, you know, y'all we got
- 1:31Speaker 1: a special guests. Um, this gentleman played ten years in
- 1:35Speaker 1: the NFL, made a pro bowling on five, got drafted
- 1:40Speaker 1: by the Cardinals, played in Denver for a while. Now
- 1:44Speaker 1: if you're playing after in the NFL, now he is
- 1:46Speaker 1: a mushroom farmer. So y'all show some love for Jake
- 1:51Speaker 1: the snake blah. And like Rome said, I'm feeling the
- 1:57Speaker 1: air man. I went by your website and everyone got
- 2:00Speaker 1: long hair. I feel like to grow mushrooms, man, Like
- 2:02Speaker 1: everyone's got the long hair. I'm feeling it. You know.
- 2:07Speaker 1: The long hair for me right now is just uh,
- 2:09Speaker 1: it got to a point where it stopped being annoying
- 2:12Speaker 1: and now it's long hair, and it's just I got
- 2:14Speaker 1: long hair now. So it might be gone this summer
- 2:16Speaker 1: when it gets hot, but for now, that's what it is.
- 2:19Speaker 1: And uh, you know, I don't think it has anything
- 2:21Speaker 1: to do with the mushrooms, but you know, Chautauki mushrooms
- 2:24Speaker 1: do help with you know, your hair and nails. Helped
- 2:27Speaker 1: promote like hair and nail growth. So you know, one
- 2:30Speaker 1: little fun fact about fun guy. You might not know. So,
- 2:34Speaker 1: what made you get into the whole mush like? So
- 2:36Speaker 1: I know you retired, what made you get into the
- 2:39Speaker 1: whole mushroom thing? I know, I know Calvin Johnson has
- 2:42Speaker 1: the marijuana and everything. What what made you get into mushrooms? Yeah?
- 2:46Speaker 1: You know, it's been a long, long journey to get
- 2:49Speaker 1: to hear And there was no uh you know, setting
- 2:52Speaker 1: out to be a mushroom farmer or even I didn't
- 2:54Speaker 1: didn't really know that I would be getting into doing
- 2:56Speaker 1: this until just before the pandemic. I had a had
- 3:00Speaker 1: a lunch meeting with my my business partner, Dale Jolly,
- 3:03Speaker 1: who's a partner of mine, to help start Umbo. And
- 3:06Speaker 1: actually that's when I he introduced me to Rashad Evans,
- 3:09Speaker 1: former UFC Hall of Famer who was also a co
- 3:12Speaker 1: founder of Umbo and has used you know, in his
- 3:16Speaker 1: last fight when he came out of retirement. He used
- 3:18Speaker 1: the products when he was training and uh, you know,
- 3:22Speaker 1: being an older guy training with these young kids, he
- 3:24Speaker 1: had the energy. He was actually bringing it like you did, peanut,
- 3:27Speaker 1: Like he was bringing the energy to the to the
- 3:29Speaker 1: workouts and and the guys were like, what are you doing,
- 3:31Speaker 1: you know, and he was recovering and then he went
- 3:33Speaker 1: and fought and he won, and he was so calm
- 3:36Speaker 1: and peaceful in the ring, and it was it was
- 3:38Speaker 1: something that when I when I met him, you know,
- 3:41Speaker 1: we started this idea. We we started taking some teasterres
- 3:44Speaker 1: that my buddy Dale gave us, and we've we felt
- 3:47Speaker 1: the benefits. We felt our immune system. We felt like
- 3:51Speaker 1: this virus going around, we were we were okay because
- 3:53Speaker 1: we were being we were taking the right stuff. My
- 3:56Speaker 1: energy levels were good, my sleep got better, I didn't
- 3:59Speaker 1: have my allergies in the in the springtime, and so
- 4:02Speaker 1: I was a believer. And you know, the dive into
- 4:05Speaker 1: this started my buddy Dale. Actually is when I met
- 4:08Speaker 1: him was in Charlotte's Web. When I was working with
- 4:10Speaker 1: Charlotte's Web and the himp oil and as you guys
- 4:13Speaker 1: probably remember, no like eight years ago, I was trying
- 4:16Speaker 1: along with some other guys to try to get this
- 4:18Speaker 1: into the hands of the players through the nfl p
- 4:21Speaker 1: A and whatnot. And it was it was federally federally
- 4:24Speaker 1: listed as a Schedule one drug, the same as heroin. Cocaine,
- 4:29Speaker 1: and that's HIMP. We're talking about just one plant that
- 4:32Speaker 1: got confused with marijuana. And now we see himp. A
- 4:35Speaker 1: lot of guys are having their own brands and and
- 4:38Speaker 1: endorsing it and getting behind it because they felt the
- 4:40Speaker 1: benefits of this plant of nature. And so that got
- 4:43Speaker 1: me into this, uh, this this like path of bringing
- 4:48Speaker 1: a different mode of healing or something that may help
- 4:52Speaker 1: just take the edge off of your pain or even
- 4:54Speaker 1: take a little bit off of you know, the fogginess
- 4:56Speaker 1: in your brain or whatever it was. And we as
- 4:59Speaker 1: athletes are so aware of our bodies that just that's
- 5:01Speaker 1: my small minute change and something can set us free.
- 5:05Speaker 1: And so that was a really big big thing to
- 5:08Speaker 1: do to start that. And then and the understand the
- 5:10Speaker 1: power and of nature and the medicine that that she provides,
- 5:14Speaker 1: Mother Mother Earth, and so then getting into this mushroom
- 5:19Speaker 1: business we're talking about. You know, mushrooms have their own kingdom.
- 5:23Speaker 1: I call it a queendom because I think you know,
- 5:25Speaker 1: they're they're they just are like the mother. They they're
- 5:28Speaker 1: underneath the ground and my celial network, the way they
- 5:33Speaker 1: help share everything underneath the ground with plants, the way
- 5:37Speaker 1: everything filters through them, and the future holds a lot
- 5:39Speaker 1: of a lot of things are gonna start changing once people,
- 5:43Speaker 1: uh learn a little more about mushrooms, like, oh, psilocybin,
- 5:47Speaker 1: I don't want to trip out. I don't want to
- 5:48Speaker 1: go on a journey and have like hallucinations. Well that's
- 5:50Speaker 1: just one. That's one mushroom in the whole entire kingdom queendom.
- 5:55Speaker 1: You know, it's it's just one. And just like the
- 5:57Speaker 1: difference between marijuana and himp, we had to let people know,
- 6:00Speaker 1: like you can take hip, take himp, and you can
- 6:03Speaker 1: go to work. You won't be high, you won't have
- 6:05Speaker 1: that psychotropic feeling. And so again it's a chance to educate,
- 6:09Speaker 1: but also a chance to just kind of live it.
- 6:11Speaker 1: I take the mushrooms every day. I got the farm.
- 6:14Speaker 1: That's just like another opportunity came through my buddy Dale
- 6:17Speaker 1: to go start growing them. And you know, as a
- 6:20Speaker 1: former player going through transition, you know, it's never over
- 6:23Speaker 1: the transition because we're always linking back to like like
- 6:26Speaker 1: this next week, going to the Super Bowl, going down
- 6:28Speaker 1: to be amongst the players, you go right back to
- 6:32Speaker 1: who you were when you were that whether it's your
- 6:34Speaker 1: alter ego or whatever. It is, you go back to
- 6:36Speaker 1: that guy. So we're never out of that, we're always
- 6:39Speaker 1: transitioning back into our normal lives once we step back
- 6:41Speaker 1: into the fold. And you know, this is giving me
- 6:45Speaker 1: a chance to really grow and feel what it's like
- 6:46Speaker 1: to grow things and put intention into these beautiful organisms
- 6:50Speaker 1: to help people, you know, hopefully optimize their health and wellness.
- 6:54Speaker 1: And uh, it's been a fun journey and I can't
- 6:56Speaker 1: wait to continue to spread this word and thank you
- 6:59Speaker 1: for being interested, because that's really the first thing is like, huh,
- 7:03Speaker 1: I'd like to think clear, I'd like to sleep better,
- 7:05Speaker 1: I'd like to have a little less inflammation. And it
- 7:08Speaker 1: seems like this, this, this whole queendom is undiscovered, undiscovered
- 7:12Speaker 1: and has a plethora of healing healing in it that
- 7:16Speaker 1: we're just discovering. So it's a really exciting time. I'm
- 7:19Speaker 1: excited because I just bought four or four of your
- 7:23Speaker 1: apologize for the back right, I'm getting some work done
- 7:25Speaker 1: on my house, but I bought four of you got
- 7:27Speaker 1: like a four you got a four piece. I bought
- 7:30Speaker 1: the four piece, and I'm I'm looking forward to sleeping,
- 7:34Speaker 1: feeling working, just getting getting swollen. I'm I'm I'm looking
- 7:38Speaker 1: forward to. My goal right now is three fifteen on
- 7:41Speaker 1: the bench. So hopefully these mushrooms can get me up
- 7:44Speaker 1: and going at it. You know what I'm saying, Well, well, yeah,
- 7:48Speaker 1: you know, I mean, who knows, maybe they will if
- 7:50Speaker 1: you if you put that intention into them, they're pretty
- 7:53Speaker 1: uh pretty amazing, Maybe they'll help you get there. So,
- 7:55Speaker 1: so Jake, I want to talk about this transition a
- 7:57Speaker 1: little bit for you. Um, you were thirty two years
- 7:59Speaker 1: old and you retired, and kind of take me back
- 8:02Speaker 1: through because we all have our different journeys and stories
- 8:04Speaker 1: of when we put the ball down and we take
- 8:06Speaker 1: our pads off, Um, what do we do next or
- 8:10Speaker 1: how do we continue to strive and be great in
- 8:12Speaker 1: the in the lane that you're in for so long
- 8:14Speaker 1: and now you step away you're thirty two years old,
- 8:16Speaker 1: because you maybe take me into that first year of
- 8:18Speaker 1: after you retired. What were you doing? I know you
- 8:20Speaker 1: and I've listened to some of your podcast places or
- 8:23Speaker 1: interviews that you've done. You did a lot of handballing
- 8:25Speaker 1: around the country. You you're you're still trying to stay active,
- 8:29Speaker 1: and you also like to read about read a lot
- 8:32Speaker 1: in the morning. I think you'd like to read about
- 8:34Speaker 1: just new things. What you described as you said you'd
- 8:36Speaker 1: like to read about the transition was was interesting. As
- 8:40Speaker 1: you know, I played the four straight years at a
- 8:42Speaker 1: s U, got drafted to the Cardinals and started halfway
- 8:45Speaker 1: through my rookie year, So there was really basically fourteen
- 8:48Speaker 1: straight years of high level football, and you know, my
- 8:52Speaker 1: body was really taking a beating. I was up to
- 8:55Speaker 1: about two d and twelve pounds. You know, you gotta
- 8:57Speaker 1: get bigger, you gotta get bigger. And it was constant
- 9:00Speaker 1: grind to just be that person. And I loved I
- 9:05Speaker 1: loved it. I love being the quarterback of the team
- 9:07Speaker 1: and relating to all my teammates and the players and
- 9:09Speaker 1: the whole organization. Um. But there was a lot of
- 9:13Speaker 1: there was a lot of there's a lot of stress there.
- 9:15Speaker 1: There's a lot of expectations that were hard to basically
- 9:19Speaker 1: unable to fulfill all the expectations that were heaped upon me.
- 9:22Speaker 1: So that took a toll mentally and spiritually, you know,
- 9:25Speaker 1: like just being able to like feel good about myself
- 9:27Speaker 1: and who I am. As a lot of guys lead
- 9:30Speaker 1: the league, they feel like they leave in failure, even
- 9:32Speaker 1: though they played nine years with their cut their last camp,
- 9:36Speaker 1: and they're like they leave with a bad taste in
- 9:38Speaker 1: their mouth and they don't remember like those nine years
- 9:41Speaker 1: where you were in it and doing a core point,
- 9:44Speaker 1: such a point, you know, one of the few people
- 9:50Speaker 1: in the world that do what we do. And at
- 9:52Speaker 1: one point in my life, I was one of the
- 9:54Speaker 1: you know, probably top fifteen quarterbacks in the entire world,
- 9:58Speaker 1: in the entire world. And so when you when you
- 10:01Speaker 1: can go and look back at that in your transition,
- 10:03Speaker 1: as as as hard as hell to go through a
- 10:05Speaker 1: transition when we have everything do undone for us. We
- 10:08Speaker 1: know where we're gonna be in April, we know what
- 10:10Speaker 1: we're gonna be doing November. We got our schedule, and
- 10:13Speaker 1: you get back into life if you don't plan for that,
- 10:15Speaker 1: which I know there's some things out there to help
- 10:18Speaker 1: guys plan, but a lot of guys you gotta be
- 10:21Speaker 1: in it in the NFL. You can't think about, oh,
- 10:23Speaker 1: in four years, I might retire and get into being
- 10:26Speaker 1: a gardener, a mushroom farmer. You know, like you don't
- 10:31Speaker 1: put any extra time thinking down the line because you're
- 10:34Speaker 1: so you have to be so in it during that
- 10:36Speaker 1: time at present. So when I retired. It was a
- 10:39Speaker 1: chance for me to just get away. I moved up
- 10:41Speaker 1: to North Idaho. I got out of the crowd. I
- 10:44Speaker 1: got away so I could just be another human for
- 10:46Speaker 1: a little bit. See what it felt like to go
- 10:48Speaker 1: to a grocery store and not get noticed, not have
- 10:50Speaker 1: people stopping me everywhere I went. And that was nice.
- 10:54Speaker 1: It was really good. And then, um, you know, I
- 10:56Speaker 1: got married. Soon after I retired. Traveled a lot, which
- 10:59Speaker 1: was a lot of fun, and I did play a
- 11:01Speaker 1: lot of handball. Handball was camaraderie, a good chance to
- 11:04Speaker 1: get out and compete and run around. I'm still playing handball.
- 11:07Speaker 1: I gotta I gotta match tonight. And uh, you know,
- 11:10Speaker 1: that's one of the things that that keeps me moving.
- 11:12Speaker 1: You know. You guys, you guys know our bodies are
- 11:14Speaker 1: beat up, and we can buy into that narrative and oh,
- 11:17Speaker 1: we're beat up old football players with arthritis and the
- 11:21Speaker 1: futures doesn't look great with some of the other things
- 11:23Speaker 1: we we have to I don't like talking about much,
- 11:25Speaker 1: but with the trauma to our heads and concussions and
- 11:28Speaker 1: all that stuff. But you can change that narrative and
- 11:31Speaker 1: just be active and be active in the moment now
- 11:33Speaker 1: and not worry about what maybe down the line. Um.
- 11:37Speaker 1: And that's another thing that's so beautiful about the mushrooms
- 11:40Speaker 1: is I think it's it's for longevity. For me, it's
- 11:42Speaker 1: for it's for cleaning myself up now, but also planning
- 11:45Speaker 1: to live a long time and live healthy and and
- 11:47Speaker 1: be active. And uh, yeah, it's been a great transition.
- 11:51Speaker 1: It's I mean, here I am sixteen years out, uh,
- 11:55Speaker 1: still still in it, you know, with the NFL being
- 11:57Speaker 1: something that is always gonna be part of me, but
- 12:00Speaker 1: really being able to bring something to the table here
- 12:02Speaker 1: now that's gonna, I believe, help a lot of a
- 12:05Speaker 1: lot of people optimize their their time in the league
- 12:08Speaker 1: and then post post career um. Because really, I don't
- 12:11Speaker 1: know how many guys on these Super Bowl teams are
- 12:14Speaker 1: are eating mushrooms in their diet. I believe that these
- 12:17Speaker 1: organisms have an ability to balance out our bodies their adaptations.
- 12:21Speaker 1: They're very strong adaptations. And uh, you know, my transition
- 12:25Speaker 1: now into being into this space is really a gift.
- 12:28Speaker 1: I get to share something with people that can help
- 12:30Speaker 1: them feel better, and I'm I love it. It's a
- 12:32Speaker 1: It's a great path to be on. Okay, Jake your
- 12:35Speaker 1: mushroom company, my co love, right, and I think it's beautiful.
- 12:38Speaker 1: And they want to try and ask why do you
- 12:40Speaker 1: sell these things? Are just that another? Instead, I want
- 12:43Speaker 1: to piggyback and try and help sell it yourself. And
- 12:46Speaker 1: I want you to tell me which one you think
- 12:48Speaker 1: I should look at. So for me, I look at
- 12:50Speaker 1: the Turkey Tale Teincshert all right, and the Turkey Tale
- 12:53Speaker 1: Tincsherts described it is described as this. It's really the
- 12:56Speaker 1: attribute of it that I love is number one that
- 12:59Speaker 1: they say it grows on evergreen trees and therefore must
- 13:02Speaker 1: have the standing power of the trees it has. It
- 13:06Speaker 1: has over four hundred clinical studies published in in Japan
- 13:10Speaker 1: and China in the past thirty years showing the benefits
- 13:13Speaker 1: to the immune system. And I know this from looking
- 13:16Speaker 1: at YouTube on all my other crazy things I do,
- 13:18Speaker 1: all right, that Japan has the longest living lifespan of
- 13:22Speaker 1: any country in the world. It's not a big deal
- 13:24Speaker 1: for Japanese people to live in their upper eighties to
- 13:27Speaker 1: a hundred plus years old. That's like normal to them,
- 13:30Speaker 1: which is not normal here in the USA. Jake the Snake,
- 13:34Speaker 1: please baby, continue to sell me more on which one
- 13:37Speaker 1: I should use, either the Rishi or the Turkey Tell.
- 13:41Speaker 1: I'm thinking Turkey tell MYSELFE all three all that's what
- 13:45Speaker 1: I did. Take them all. It's all gonna help you come.
- 13:53Speaker 1: Let's go now. You you make some great points. A
- 13:56Speaker 1: great great to bring up Turkey Tell and Rashi. Um,
- 14:00Speaker 1: two amazing mushrooms that we grow out at Michael Love
- 14:03Speaker 1: at the farm. Um. You know, the great things being
- 14:05Speaker 1: able to grow these and extract them, and then and
- 14:08Speaker 1: then here soon to be able to put them in
- 14:10Speaker 1: the Umbo bottles, which is Umbo is the company that uh,
- 14:14Speaker 1: you know, we started this whole thing with, and we're
- 14:17Speaker 1: doing teink shirts and some really good bars. We're gonna
- 14:19Speaker 1: be down in the down handing them out to anybody,
- 14:22Speaker 1: all the legends and everybody, uh to get him a
- 14:25Speaker 1: taste of a bar with two and a half grams
- 14:27Speaker 1: of functional mushrooms in them. And again answering the question,
- 14:30Speaker 1: can I eat this and go to work with this?
- 14:32Speaker 1: Trip me outright? Of course you can. I'm not. I'm
- 14:34Speaker 1: not pedaling bars with psilocybin in them at the super
- 14:37Speaker 1: Bowl like you think I want to go to prison. No,
- 14:40Speaker 1: I'm still Schedule one it's still listed same as cocaine
- 14:45Speaker 1: and heroin. The psilocybin mushroom. Now, Turkey tale is a
- 14:49Speaker 1: great mushroom. It's prescribed in Japan for cancer patients. And
- 14:53Speaker 1: another thing that Turkey tale does that's amazing is that
- 14:57Speaker 1: it's been known to go in and protect your cell
- 15:00Speaker 1: surrounding the cancer sales. So when you get a dose
- 15:03Speaker 1: i radiation or chemo, the chemo goes and and attacks
- 15:06Speaker 1: of cancerous sales and everything around it. Right, well, if
- 15:11Speaker 1: you have the turkey tail on your system, what they're
- 15:13Speaker 1: seeing signs of is that the turkey tail protects those
- 15:16Speaker 1: other cells that are not cancerous, so you're not killing out,
- 15:21Speaker 1: you know, all these good sales in your body, and
- 15:22Speaker 1: so they're having really good results with cancer patients coming
- 15:26Speaker 1: out of chemo. Um you know, enough to perk your
- 15:29Speaker 1: ears up and go wait a second, let's let's let's
- 15:32Speaker 1: see why why this is happening in another country. We
- 15:35Speaker 1: all want to live optimally. We all want to live
- 15:38Speaker 1: less pain, with less pain, with more vitality and longevity
- 15:43Speaker 1: in our minds, and we all want to do this,
- 15:46Speaker 1: but we also a lot of people want proof that
- 15:48Speaker 1: that's what it does. You know, we wouldn't. I don't
- 15:50Speaker 1: want to wait a hundred years to do this. I
- 15:52Speaker 1: want to get this these this research done now and
- 15:54Speaker 1: start getting people to understand there is something out there
- 15:57Speaker 1: that Mother Earth provides us that could very well help us,
- 16:02Speaker 1: UM just defend ourselves against everything we are faced with
- 16:05Speaker 1: in this daily world of stress viruses, you know, everything
- 16:09Speaker 1: out there, all the chemicals and toxins. UM. You know
- 16:12Speaker 1: you mentioned Rahi. Rahi is my favorite mushroom. It's definitely
- 16:17Speaker 1: one that that you called the mushroom of immortality. UM.
- 16:21Speaker 1: And when you bring up the p Fitt three pathway,
- 16:23Speaker 1: that's deep knowledge right there that people don't even know
- 16:25Speaker 1: about their bodies, sort of like when we discovered the
- 16:29Speaker 1: indocnnabinoid system in our bodies in to realize that we
- 16:34Speaker 1: have receptors for CBD, the cannabinoids that are in HIMP
- 16:38Speaker 1: and so these are things that we're just starting to
- 16:40Speaker 1: find out, even researching the brain and finding out more
- 16:42Speaker 1: about neuroplasticity and the fact that we can regrow our
- 16:46Speaker 1: neuronal pathways in our brand and in our brain and
- 16:49Speaker 1: make those connections that have been maybe severed through an accident,
- 16:53Speaker 1: a car accident or through serving as a veteran or
- 16:56Speaker 1: from playing football. And that's another mushroom lining main that
- 17:00Speaker 1: gets me real excited because there's so many compounds in
- 17:04Speaker 1: these mushrooms we don't know, but a few of them
- 17:07Speaker 1: just like cannabis that we started out calling at cb D,
- 17:10Speaker 1: well now they're CBQ, cbr, CB all this stuff because
- 17:13Speaker 1: we've gone in and explored this plant. That's what needs
- 17:17Speaker 1: to happen with these mushrooms, and that's the exciting part.
- 17:20Speaker 1: Lion's Main helps with nerve growth factor, so you know,
- 17:23Speaker 1: neuronal pathways that are damaged or severed, Lion's Man is
- 17:28Speaker 1: showing support and helping regrow neural neuronal pathways throughout our
- 17:32Speaker 1: whole body. And I know that when I go to
- 17:35Speaker 1: bed at night, I'm excited to close my eyes and
- 17:38Speaker 1: I go right to sleep because it enhances my dream state.
- 17:41Speaker 1: When I'm dreaming, I dream like in full color, uh,
- 17:44Speaker 1: you know, with people that I see the day before
- 17:46Speaker 1: they come back into my dream and we're doing stuff together,
- 17:49Speaker 1: or I had a crazy dream. You guys know. Jamir
- 17:52Speaker 1: Miller played in the league for a long time. One
- 17:54Speaker 1: of my one of my homies from back of the
- 17:56Speaker 1: cardinal days. I had a dream and he was in it.
- 17:59Speaker 1: And then I will up from my dream and I
- 18:01Speaker 1: went and used the restroom and then I came back
- 18:03Speaker 1: and went to sleep, and I right when I got
- 18:05Speaker 1: into my dream, Jamir was there, going, hey, you're back,
- 18:08Speaker 1: let's go. And I've never had that happen right, like
- 18:11Speaker 1: that was cool. So I called them that that day.
- 18:13Speaker 1: I called them like, yo, man, I had a crazy dream.
- 18:15Speaker 1: If you did it? And so then we reconnected and
- 18:18Speaker 1: now you know, I'm back in connection with one of
- 18:20Speaker 1: my favorite teammates. So another one that we don't talk
- 18:23Speaker 1: about much and that that's been known for a long time.
- 18:25Speaker 1: It's court aceps, and court aceps is uh vasodilator. It
- 18:32Speaker 1: helps bring oxygen to your blood. When you guys, go
- 18:35Speaker 1: work out, Peanut, when you're trying to bench three fifteen
- 18:37Speaker 1: and you're you start to go, your body naturally sends
- 18:40Speaker 1: out an a TP boost and didn't seem triphosphate moves
- 18:43Speaker 1: to your muscles to say, hey, let's go, let's go. Time.
- 18:46Speaker 1: Court aceps actually naturally will enhance that process so that
- 18:49Speaker 1: you it happens now, it happens effortlessly and there's no crash.
- 18:54Speaker 1: There's no down, there's no sugars, there's no anything that
- 18:58Speaker 1: to give you that natural inner you that court accepts provides.
- 19:02Speaker 1: It's pretty amazing. Mushroom Oh my god. Yeah. And for
- 19:07Speaker 1: all those listeners out there that don't know a t
- 19:09Speaker 1: p s all you need to know about those, Jake
- 19:11Speaker 1: dropped a truth bomb on this. A t p s
- 19:13Speaker 1: are all about energy and storage function. That's all it's about.
- 19:17Speaker 1: Keep it moving, Jake, Go ahead, baby, you got it. Yeah, great,
- 19:20Speaker 1: thank you for the extra little bit there. We're but
- 19:22Speaker 1: we're finding out more and more as we get dive
- 19:25Speaker 1: deeper into these mushrooms. And it's an entire food group
- 19:28Speaker 1: that we eliminated from our diets basically as a culture,
- 19:31Speaker 1: and we're just getting reintroduced to it. This isn't any
- 19:34Speaker 1: new knowledge. I'm not like going and discovering new stuff
- 19:37Speaker 1: that the whole world is gonna be um soon to be.
- 19:41Speaker 1: You know, they're they're they're turning to it already. As
- 19:44Speaker 1: as Western culture and our Western medicine keeps doing the
- 19:48Speaker 1: same thing. Um, you know, people are looking for other alternatives.
- 19:52Speaker 1: And I gotta say that just taking the tinctures isn't
- 19:55Speaker 1: the reason why I feel good and have energy throughout
- 19:57Speaker 1: the day and feel like I've load down my aging process.
- 20:01Speaker 1: I've added a lot of other things to that along
- 20:03Speaker 1: with the you know, good diet, uh you know, watching
- 20:06Speaker 1: what I what I drink, watching how I speak, watching
- 20:09Speaker 1: the people that I'm around, and just changing my whole
- 20:13Speaker 1: entire you know, the way I flow, and I do
- 20:16Speaker 1: a lot of yoga. I try to stay active and
- 20:18Speaker 1: move and so you know, sometimes you get out of
- 20:21Speaker 1: the game and you feel start feeling the pain that
- 20:23Speaker 1: can set in, and it's debilitating and it keeps you,
- 20:26Speaker 1: uh sedentary, you don't want to move, and you don't
- 20:29Speaker 1: feel like going out to see your buddies, and you're
- 20:30Speaker 1: just and this, these these things seem to have been
- 20:33Speaker 1: able to allow me that freedom, the information and my
- 20:35Speaker 1: my joints is gone. I just I feel like I
- 20:39Speaker 1: have to share this. I gotta let everybody know because
- 20:42Speaker 1: I know we're all going through whatever we're going through,
- 20:44Speaker 1: we all have life happening, and to have life happening
- 20:47Speaker 1: along with old injuries or the thought of what could
- 20:52Speaker 1: be down the road from man, I've had, you know,
- 20:55Speaker 1: I know, personally, I've had probably at least four to
- 20:57Speaker 1: five concussions where I was knocked out other times, bang
- 21:00Speaker 1: my head numerous times. But there are guys that have
- 21:03Speaker 1: had hundreds of concussions or mild traumatic brain injuries, and
- 21:08Speaker 1: the narrative is set and it's it's a scary. It's
- 21:12Speaker 1: a scary thing in that future that we look forward to,
- 21:14Speaker 1: like CTE dementia Alzheimer's, Like my goal is to try
- 21:19Speaker 1: to reverse that narrative, to to UH, to start doing
- 21:22Speaker 1: some studies with some former players to raise quality of
- 21:25Speaker 1: life using functional mushrooms. And also I am a believer
- 21:29Speaker 1: in psychedelic psilocybin mushrooms as a form of healing. Also
- 21:33Speaker 1: at a whole another level of for for in ceremony
- 21:38Speaker 1: as a sacred medicine for approaching some things that may
- 21:42Speaker 1: be looming from your childhood or something that you may
- 21:45Speaker 1: have gone through as a trauma that you didn't even
- 21:46Speaker 1: realize how a traumatic imprint on your on your your
- 21:50Speaker 1: system and you just shoved it away. What do we
- 21:53Speaker 1: do and what do you do being it? When you
- 21:54Speaker 1: got hurt on a tackle, could you go take a
- 21:57Speaker 1: break and like no, you push that pain a right,
- 22:00Speaker 1: you depressed it. We get real good as like NFL
- 22:03Speaker 1: players just I feel Saturday too bad. Push it down.
- 22:07Speaker 1: I gotta practice, I gotta be the leader. I gotta exactly.
- 22:14Speaker 1: And so you know, I believe that you know, we can.
- 22:16Speaker 1: We can help shift the narrative of what former players
- 22:22Speaker 1: or anybody who who has had a lot of traumatic
- 22:25Speaker 1: brain injuries or mild traumatic brain injuries to not look
- 22:28Speaker 1: forward or not look at the future as though gloom
- 22:32Speaker 1: of what could be. But let's start doing this. We
- 22:34Speaker 1: can study. Let's start studying and trying to reverse the
- 22:37Speaker 1: effects that we that we caused on our bodies playing
- 22:39Speaker 1: this wonderful game. Let's let's really be progressive on this
- 22:44Speaker 1: and look long term at the health and wellness of
- 22:47Speaker 1: of these players. And then once we do that, people
- 22:49Speaker 1: start to listen to the general public looks up to us.
- 22:52Speaker 1: So we have to be real careful, you know what
- 22:54Speaker 1: we get behind And I'm one behind this too again
- 22:59Speaker 1: as a gift, as a gift being connected with some
- 23:02Speaker 1: great people, as a gift to share this too people.
- 23:04Speaker 1: And uh yeah, it's really exciting. And h and Peanut,
- 23:07Speaker 1: this is my last little one because my wife, you
- 23:09Speaker 1: know I said it before. My wife has always she's
- 23:11Speaker 1: been micro Docan and Jake, you don't know this, but
- 23:14Speaker 1: my wife's Native Americans. So she's all about going the
- 23:16Speaker 1: psychedelic route to really get rid of and fight those
- 23:20Speaker 1: demons or things that we've all suppressed at some point
- 23:22Speaker 1: in time. She's a really big She takes Lins Maine
- 23:25Speaker 1: every morning. I didn't even know that until this morning
- 23:27Speaker 1: when I was so excited about having you are, I'm like,
- 23:29Speaker 1: what do you take Lines Maine? She's like, yes, for
- 23:32Speaker 1: the repair and all these other things like you know,
- 23:35Speaker 1: and for all those young women, those women out there
- 23:37Speaker 1: that are listening. You know. She accused of me all
- 23:39Speaker 1: the time of not respecting her mom brain right where
- 23:42Speaker 1: she's had a couple of kids. Sometimes she doesn't always
- 23:44Speaker 1: remember certain things. And then her opinion is this helps
- 23:47Speaker 1: her fight that or going against those things, and can
- 23:50Speaker 1: you continue to help her heal those things that she's
- 23:53Speaker 1: been through? So right on again, Jake Plumber, Right on again. Baby.
- 23:57Speaker 1: Her question that she had, she makes she's making me
- 23:59Speaker 1: at is that how do you know what's a reputable source,
- 24:02Speaker 1: a reputable source of where we get our mushrooms forum
- 24:06Speaker 1: versus what may not be a more reputable source to
- 24:10Speaker 1: make sure it's all good. I don't know every mushroom
- 24:12Speaker 1: is created equal. That's a great question. Um, so much
- 24:16Speaker 1: is still out there with micro remediation, micro filtration, we
- 24:21Speaker 1: don't know yet, you know, building things out of the mycelium,
- 24:24Speaker 1: which is showing to be when you can mold it
- 24:27Speaker 1: into forms or any type of supports, be as strong
- 24:31Speaker 1: as any other material out there. Um. So the sky
- 24:34Speaker 1: is the limit here on this. We started a mode
- 24:37Speaker 1: because we saw what was happening and we thought, let's
- 24:39Speaker 1: start a brand, and let's do this right, and let's
- 24:42Speaker 1: have social corporate responsibility. Let's make sure that we're not
- 24:46Speaker 1: This isn't a capitalist, capitalist play for us. This is
- 24:49Speaker 1: a cause. This is really a chance to shift the
- 24:53Speaker 1: shift the needle towards more health and wellness. And so
- 24:56Speaker 1: it's it's getting that shift. It's changing people's perspective to
- 25:00Speaker 1: be less fear and more open minded. And Umbo. We
- 25:03Speaker 1: set out to have one of the best products like
- 25:07Speaker 1: I was. I was Charlotte's Web. It's one of the
- 25:09Speaker 1: top line products. I wanted to be able to have
- 25:12Speaker 1: the same thing in the mushroom industry. Um, there are
- 25:15Speaker 1: other good products out there. Be sure to look at
- 25:18Speaker 1: the labels to see if it's organic and also if
- 25:21Speaker 1: it's fruiting body or if it's my cilium biology when
- 25:26Speaker 1: you're in college, No, man, like this is the thing.
- 25:32Speaker 1: Like I've just been in this for the last few years,
- 25:34Speaker 1: just just absorbing knowledge and being around people and learning stuff.
- 25:39Speaker 1: But I don't know like one tenth of what Paul
- 25:43Speaker 1: Stamitz knows. I'd say one fiftieth of what Paul Stamitz knows.
- 25:46Speaker 1: He is a mycologist. I'm a micro file. I love mushrooms.
- 25:50Speaker 1: I love fun guy, I love nature, and so I
- 25:54Speaker 1: think you know, you know, without my cilium, without fun guy,
- 25:59Speaker 1: that we wouldn't have anything that we're used to having
- 26:01Speaker 1: out in nature, the trees, the beautiful flowers, um. Everybody
- 26:05Speaker 1: but benefits from the mycelium underneath us. Yet, the jury
- 26:09Speaker 1: is still out if eating and taking a mycelium product
- 26:14Speaker 1: is actually beneficial to us yet, because we're finding that
- 26:16Speaker 1: some mushrooms have compounds in the fruiting body and that
- 26:20Speaker 1: that are not that are only that are not contained
- 26:23Speaker 1: in the mycelium or vice versa. That's into mycelium, but
- 26:26Speaker 1: it doesn't come out in the fruiting body. UM. So
- 26:28Speaker 1: for now, what I'd say is if you into an
- 26:31Speaker 1: apple tree, you wouldn't pull off a leaf or some
- 26:33Speaker 1: bark and eat it and hope to get some benefit.
- 26:35Speaker 1: You would pick the apple and you would eat the apple.
- 26:38Speaker 1: So now as we as we're going again back to
- 26:40Speaker 1: the research thing. We need to research this. We need
- 26:44Speaker 1: to find out if my cilium growing on grain, you know,
- 26:48Speaker 1: is passing on some of the constituents of the grain
- 26:51Speaker 1: into the mycelium. So if you're grain heavy and you're
- 26:54Speaker 1: diet already, do you really want to take more grain
- 26:56Speaker 1: into your system. I'm a fruiting body fan. I like
- 26:59Speaker 1: full spectrum medicine. I want the whole entire fruiting body
- 27:03Speaker 1: altogether in my teinksture bar, capsule, whatever. Uh. That's that's
- 27:08Speaker 1: my theory. And and we're gonna learn more. We're gonna
- 27:11Speaker 1: learn more every day. They're discovering stuff every day. I
- 27:14Speaker 1: really want to lead uh into this, you know, this
- 27:17Speaker 1: next era. M some studies with some former players to
- 27:21Speaker 1: raise quality of life and then ultimately to see if
- 27:23Speaker 1: we can reverse you know, the issues with the brain
- 27:26Speaker 1: that you know that we're all aware of that we're
- 27:29Speaker 1: gonna face at some point. But trying to extend life,
- 27:32Speaker 1: and to extend life with with quality of life is
- 27:35Speaker 1: really the key. And uh, you know if I'm if
- 27:37Speaker 1: you guys are around when I turn ninety, I'll invite
- 27:39Speaker 1: you to my party at a trampoline park. I mean
- 27:41Speaker 1: that's my visio energy, energy all day, energy all day.
- 27:48Speaker 1: You know, it's funny, I've said that before, like I
- 27:50Speaker 1: want to be live well into my hundreds. Oh man,
- 27:53Speaker 1: you don't want to do that. You'll be in a wheelchair,
- 27:55Speaker 1: You'll be all decrepit. And I'll tell people, men, shut
- 27:58Speaker 1: your mouth and take that back. You put that energy,
- 28:00Speaker 1: and you put that word out there. Words have extreme power,
- 28:04Speaker 1: as we as we know being on you know, hey
- 28:07Speaker 1: it's fourth it's the fourth quarter. We got a minute left,
- 28:09Speaker 1: no time outs. Let's go win this thing, right and
- 28:12Speaker 1: we all believe and we go win it rather than
- 28:15Speaker 1: oh god, there's no chance we need a time. Well,
- 28:18Speaker 1: this isn't going well. Like we believe in the power
- 28:20Speaker 1: of words because we lived it. And more people, you know,
- 28:23Speaker 1: start buying into just that that power of word, the
- 28:26Speaker 1: power of thought, and then the power of nature. You know,
- 28:29Speaker 1: we're coming into a full, full new perspective here on
- 28:32Speaker 1: on Really how much we can optimize our human time
- 28:35Speaker 1: here on planet Earth. Thanks for that answer, dere Jake,
- 28:38Speaker 1: and as my man Peanut Tilman always like to say,
- 28:40Speaker 1: we gotta pay some bills, and before we do that,
- 28:44Speaker 1: we would like to honor Black History Month. In each
- 28:47Speaker 1: episode this month, we'll highlight an NFL trailblazer, both pasted
- 28:52Speaker 1: in present in a sixty second tribute. Here's Jets defensive
- 28:57Speaker 1: end Solomon Thomas telling the story of the first black
- 29:00Speaker 1: woman to be named a team president in NFL history,
- 29:03Speaker 1: The Raiders, Sandra Douglas Morgan. I'm proud to introduce to
- 29:13Speaker 1: you today the president of the Las Vegas Raiders, Sandra
- 29:18Speaker 1: Douglas Morrigan. On July seven, Sandra Douglas Morrigan make league
- 29:26Speaker 1: history when the Raiders named her the nfls first ever
- 29:30Speaker 1: black female president. As we continue to celebrate Black History
- 29:34Speaker 1: Month across the league, we shared the accomplishments of the
- 29:36Speaker 1: past and president. Sandra Douglas Morgan is the first African
- 29:41Speaker 1: American woman to be the president of the NFL team.
- 29:44Speaker 1: Born and raised in Las Vegas, Morgan was a daughter
- 29:47Speaker 1: of parents when stilled in her in the importance of education, honesty, kindness,
- 29:52Speaker 1: and hard work. She would go on to earn degrees
- 29:54Speaker 1: in political science from the University of Nevada and Reno
- 29:58Speaker 1: and law from the University of Nevada in Las Vegas.
- 30:01Speaker 1: Described by Raiders owner Mark Davis as a force. We
- 30:04Speaker 1: reckon with Douglas is a trailblazer and inspiration for current
- 30:08Speaker 1: African American women and future generations to come. All right, Jake,
- 30:12Speaker 1: we gotta we'd like to do this thing with all
- 30:14Speaker 1: of our guests. He's a couple of little quick kidters.
- 30:16Speaker 1: You just tell this first thing. Come on your brain.
- 30:17Speaker 1: This is fast, this is furious, and we're coming at
- 30:20Speaker 1: you right now. You're ready, all right, Who cares if
- 30:22Speaker 1: you're ready or not, it's coming anyways. What was your
- 30:25Speaker 1: first welcome to the NFL moment? Oh? Man, uh, that
- 30:30Speaker 1: veteran stadium on the two yard line. The coaches decided
- 30:35Speaker 1: to put me into the game for my first live
- 30:37Speaker 1: NFL action, And I stepped into the huddle and looked
- 30:41Speaker 1: at the guys and said, let's take this. Let's take this,
- 30:44Speaker 1: you know what, ninety eight yards And they lit up
- 30:47Speaker 1: like h and we took at ninety eight yards and scored.
- 30:51Speaker 1: And that was really my first like welcome to the NFL.
- 30:53Speaker 1: Moment when they believed in me. And once that happened,
- 30:56Speaker 1: that belief was strong, and uh, you know, that's really
- 30:59Speaker 1: all I wanted, was that belief in respect from the guy.
- 31:02Speaker 1: So that was my first like here I am. And
- 31:04Speaker 1: in that game, Richard Dent was still playing, he was
- 31:07Speaker 1: with the Eagles. He spun me around and slammed me
- 31:09Speaker 1: into the turf on my left shoulder that still kind
- 31:12Speaker 1: of has a little limitations from that hit. Said take
- 31:15Speaker 1: that rookie. You know a few other words involved, and
- 31:18Speaker 1: I jumped up and said, man, you're you're too old
- 31:21Speaker 1: to be playing. Get your old ass out of the league.
- 31:24Speaker 1: Because I had to give it back. Man. That was
- 31:26Speaker 1: the way I had to fight, like, I had to
- 31:27Speaker 1: show him that I wasn't scared, even though I was like,
- 31:29Speaker 1: oh my god, that's your dead. But I had to
- 31:31Speaker 1: show him like there's no fear here. You can't stop me,
- 31:34Speaker 1: you can't you can't break me. And uh yeah, that
- 31:37Speaker 1: was a real good moment in Pheeling No Less a
- 31:39Speaker 1: great place to come play games. I love playing in Philly.
- 31:42Speaker 1: It's the fans. They were amazing. Jake who intercepted your
- 31:46Speaker 1: last pass? Oh I don't remember, um, because my last
- 31:49Speaker 1: throw was an interception actually against the Niners. I have
- 31:53Speaker 1: to look back and see who that was. Um, you
- 31:55Speaker 1: got all that right. It was against Niner's. It was
- 31:57Speaker 1: a Walt Harris Final games the sixth season. All right.
- 32:01Speaker 1: You know what's crazy is I threw a hundred sixty
- 32:04Speaker 1: one exceptions in my career and a hundred sixty one touchdown,
- 32:09Speaker 1: So I figured I came out straight. Even Stephen, you're
- 32:13Speaker 1: rocking sixteen all across the board too, Bro, I love it. Um.
- 32:20Speaker 1: I know how much of a family man you are,
- 32:21Speaker 1: and you love the outdoors so much. I've heard another
- 32:23Speaker 1: interview you created dandylion fritters from your outside one time.
- 32:29Speaker 1: I want to know, Bro, you gotta bring some of
- 32:30Speaker 1: those two a Z. I gotta try those. Those sound awesome. Yeah,
- 32:35Speaker 1: they are good. And you know most people spray a
- 32:39Speaker 1: bunch of crazy chemicals on their yard to kill dandy lions,
- 32:43Speaker 1: and you know, we wonder why we're sick. And I
- 32:46Speaker 1: just tell people, well, my dandelions get turned into fritters,
- 32:49Speaker 1: and you can actually just pick a danie lion and
- 32:51Speaker 1: eat it and there's no harm. They're depending on obviously,
- 32:53Speaker 1: where it's grown to make sure, you know, my yard
- 32:55Speaker 1: doesn't have any chemicals in it. I keep it clean
- 32:57Speaker 1: and organic. During the pandemic. That it was something that
- 33:00Speaker 1: me and the family got into, was just going out
- 33:02Speaker 1: and just finding, you know, different things in our yard
- 33:05Speaker 1: like molow. Molow is the original original plant that they
- 33:08Speaker 1: used to actually make marshmallows, mollow marshmallows, And so we
- 33:13Speaker 1: ended up making some mollow out of a natural little
- 33:15Speaker 1: plant that grew out in our yard. And usually you
- 33:18Speaker 1: pull them and and compost them. But um, yeah, doing
- 33:21Speaker 1: that felt really awesome to to go out for its
- 33:24Speaker 1: form mushrooms, find some while asparagus, do some dandelion fritters,
- 33:28Speaker 1: and basically eat a meal that was just provided by nature.
- 33:32Speaker 1: It did something inside my my DNA and my body.
- 33:35Speaker 1: It felt different to eat like that. And uh, I
- 33:38Speaker 1: don't do it all the time, but I'm I'm out
- 33:41Speaker 1: forging still and trying to find more edible things out
- 33:44Speaker 1: in the forest to be a part of and and
- 33:47Speaker 1: and to ingest. Of course. All right, last question for
- 33:51Speaker 1: you here, Jake, uh Mount Rushmore. We asked everyone this question, right,
- 33:56Speaker 1: you have to have your own personal Mount Rushmore? Who
- 33:59Speaker 1: would have up there in sports. Is it sports or
- 34:03Speaker 1: just people? And could be mom, dad, it could be Jesus,
- 34:07Speaker 1: it could be a mushroom God, it could be it
- 34:11Speaker 1: just Yeah, that's a question. I put Bob Marley on Rushmore.
- 34:18Speaker 1: I think that's a definite effect he's had. I mean
- 34:22Speaker 1: his music, his music is still alive, his children are
- 34:25Speaker 1: still passing on his message. And what his message was
- 34:29Speaker 1: is one love. I would say, uh, Muhammad Ali because
- 34:35Speaker 1: of what he did to fight for his his human rights,
- 34:39Speaker 1: for civil rights, to stand up and and be himself
- 34:42Speaker 1: and really to be one of the most authentic, genuine,
- 34:45Speaker 1: one of a kind athletes that we've ever seen in
- 34:48Speaker 1: the world. Um, and really be known all around the world.
- 34:51Speaker 1: You know what an amazing human he was. Albert Albert Hoffman,
- 34:57Speaker 1: who was the guy who discovered l s D and uh,
- 35:01Speaker 1: you know a guy who way back, you know, in
- 35:04Speaker 1: in the early nineteen hundreds and mid nineteen hundreds, was
- 35:07Speaker 1: was on what we're going through right now, on you
- 35:09Speaker 1: know what, on investigating you know, the effects psychedelics can
- 35:12Speaker 1: have on on people and and reprogramming rebooting us back
- 35:18Speaker 1: to uh, you know, being being one again and connecting
- 35:21Speaker 1: again and and being okay with the beauty surrounding us
- 35:24Speaker 1: instead of you know, ignoring what's around us. You know,
- 35:27Speaker 1: you for you know, being being back in touch with nature,
- 35:29Speaker 1: back in touch with the community, and with connections and
- 35:33Speaker 1: humans again. Um, now my fourth one, I'm gonna put
- 35:37Speaker 1: my mom on Mount Rushmore because you know, without her,
- 35:41Speaker 1: I wouldn't be here. And I've learned so much from her,
- 35:44Speaker 1: and she really started me down this path as the
- 35:47Speaker 1: young kids. You know, she was very into our diets
- 35:50Speaker 1: and and uh taught us to be really aware of
- 35:52Speaker 1: what we put in our bodies. And you know, we
- 35:55Speaker 1: would take garlican honey if we had a cold, and
- 35:58Speaker 1: we would put bruge east and our orange juice. And
- 36:01Speaker 1: like she was way ahead of what's going on now
- 36:04Speaker 1: just because her mother, my grandma, was a vegetarian and
- 36:07Speaker 1: really into health, uh and and doing the right thing
- 36:10Speaker 1: and in the nature and and so my mom definitely, um,
- 36:14Speaker 1: you know, what she's done and how she's been there
- 36:16Speaker 1: for me is a definitely amount Rushmore for me. I
- 36:19Speaker 1: wish grandmother would have met my grandmother because my grandma
- 36:22Speaker 1: used to make me eat VI's vapor rub. We used
- 36:25Speaker 1: to have a coach literally it says, do not consume.
- 36:28Speaker 1: She used to make us eat vapor up. I swear
- 36:31Speaker 1: to you it was you could have some crazy that'd
- 36:35Speaker 1: be a crazy podcast to get all the guys and
- 36:37Speaker 1: like find out what their grandmama's You know, my grandmothers
- 36:40Speaker 1: gave them for remedies, because there's probably some wild remedies
- 36:44Speaker 1: out there if we really wanted to go deep, there's
- 36:47Speaker 1: no doubt. Well, look, man, Jake, dude, you are blessing
- 36:51Speaker 1: uh for for giving us your time today. We want
- 36:54Speaker 1: to thank you extremely man. Not only was our huge
- 36:57Speaker 1: fan of yours as a player, but I'm so much
