- 0:00Chapter 15 from Ezekiel. First, let's pray.
- 0:05Dear God, please be with us as we.
- 0:08Read through this chapter and. Open our.
- 0:11Eyes and ears to hear. And give us wisdom from the
- 0:16Holy. Spirit or let us have.
- 0:17Wisdom from the Holy Spirit so that these things.
- 0:20Can penetrate into our hearts and our minds and our actions.
- 0:26We ask this. In Jesus name, Amen.
- 0:29So this is a really. Short chapter 15 and what
- 0:35happened though, was I went as I was studying and I found some
- 0:39very, very interesting things. That are connected but not I
- 0:44mean. Boy, it really got into a lot of
- 0:46things, so I don't think this. Is going to be really short, but
- 0:48what I'll do. Is I will.
- 0:49Read through this chapter. Short chapter read the.
- 0:54Questions and answers from the Study Bible.
- 0:58And then let you know. How I came to all these
- 1:00different places so. After that we are going.
- 1:04To get into Genesis chapter 3, we're go.
- 1:09We'll go to Deuteronomy. Chapter 30. 2 and Psalm 80.
- 1:15Because there's a lot in there. And I think you'll find this
- 1:18interesting too, because these were like new insights that
- 1:21just. Came today as I was studying
- 1:24these things, so let's get started.
- 1:27Jerusalem as a useless vine. The word of the Lord.
- 1:31Came to me. Son of Man, how is the wood of a
- 1:34vine different from that of a branch from any of the trees in
- 1:39the forest? Is wood ever taken from it to
- 1:43make anything useful? Do they make pegs from it to
- 1:47hang things on? And after it is thrown on the
- 1:50fire as fuel, and the fire burns both ends and charged the
- 1:54middle, is it then useless for anything?
- 1:58If it was not useful for anything when it was whole, how
- 2:02much less can it be made into something useful when the fire
- 2:06has burned it and it is charged? Therefore, this is what the
- 2:11Sovereign Lord says. As I have given the wood of the
- 2:15vine among the trees of the forest as fuel for the fire, so
- 2:21I will treat the people living in Jerusalem.
- 2:25I will set my face against them. Although they have come out of
- 2:30the fire, the fire will yet consume them.
- 2:34And when I set my face against them, you will know that I am
- 2:39the Lord. I will make the land desolate
- 2:43because they have been unfaithful, declares the
- 2:47sovereign Lord. And that's the end of chapter
- 2:5015. So essentially, God is basically
- 2:55saying that they're going to be punished.
- 2:58They're not going to get out of this without going through the
- 3:00fire. They think they might have
- 3:02gotten out of it, but it's going to come again.
- 3:04And then he also talks about this, the vine and the branch
- 3:09and how the branch, the vine is kind of useless when it's dried
- 3:14up. And that has a lot that I get
- 3:18into later when I start looking at the differences between the
- 3:21vine and the. Branches and the analogies.
- 3:25That Jesus used when he talked about.
- 3:27The vine and the branch. And about water and how?
- 3:31Water runs through the. Vine to give life to the the
- 3:37branch, the vine and everything and how.
- 3:41That is actually the Holy Spirit.
- 3:43And all of this is in Scripture and it's really cool.
- 3:46So anyway, let's go. To the questions and answers of
- 3:49the study Bible. How had they?
- 3:51Come out of the fire. Jerusalem had escaped physical.
- 3:55Destruction in 597 BC when Nebuchadnezzar plundered the
- 4:00temple treasures and carried away thousands, including King
- 4:04Jehovah Chen, and that's found in Second Kings chapter 24.
- 4:09And Ezekiel, however, this. Narrow escape from the
- 4:13Babylonians did not mean the sinful city would be spared.
- 4:17The Babylonians soon returned 586 BC and finished what they
- 4:23had started. Breaking down.
- 4:24The city's walls. And burning down its.
- 4:27Houses and important buildings, including the temple.
- 4:31So why judge the? Land for people's sin.
- 4:35The. Land was one of Israel's primary
- 4:39covenant blessings from the Lord.
- 4:41When the land yielded its fruit, Israel recognized this as a gift
- 4:46from the Lord. Several of Israel's temple
- 4:49festivals were associated with the beginning and ending Heart
- 4:52of Harvest. So by striking the land, God was
- 4:56putting into effect the covenant curses on the people for their
- 5:01infidelity. And the curses are found in
- 5:05Deuteronomy chapter 28. But we're not going to go there.
- 5:09We're going to go to another chapter in Deuteronomy because
- 5:12this is just really interesting. So after reading this, like I
- 5:16said it's it's a very short and simple paragraph and it.
- 5:19Basically just says that. They're not escaping God's
- 5:22punishment and God. Gives them a reason why because
- 5:25they were unfaithful. So that's pretty simple, but.
- 5:28The what I. Started looking at and this is
- 5:32like I. I love when this happens.
- 5:34Because I don't really expect. To find things like.
- 5:37This. But when I do, it's just like,
- 5:39this is one of those aha moments where you're like, wow, that was
- 5:42great. That I found that today.
- 5:46You know, like I. Just accidentally so I was.
- 5:49Searching Vine because I wanted. To see all the places.
- 5:52In the Bible through Blue letter Bible to search Vine and just
- 5:56see the references to it and see if there's anything that I would
- 6:00learn from it. And I did.
- 6:03There were some. Verses that were really
- 6:05interesting, so. I don't remember now where it.
- 6:10First was as I was. Reading through OK.
- 6:13I know this is where. It led me to Deuteronomy 32 as
- 6:16I'm reading through. All of these verses about.
- 6:19Vines. All of a sudden I read this one.
- 6:23Deuteronomy 3232. Says their vine comes from the
- 6:31Vine of Sodom and from the. Fields of Gomorrah.
- 6:36Their grapes are filled with. Poison and their clusters with
- 6:41bitterness so. That really interests me
- 6:45because. I was wondering that.
- 6:46OK, who is their vine? What is what is it talking about
- 6:50here in Deuteronomy? And so I went back and then I
- 6:54started. Reading in reverse all the
- 6:55paragraphs preceding. That and it I will.
- 6:59Just start to go through this because there's, well, let's
- 7:04see. I will start with the verse 30.
- 7:08Two, there's just a lot. Of really good verses here like
- 7:1130. 215 was one that I came across because I read the whole.
- 7:15Chapter 32. And in Deuteronomy 3215, this
- 7:21is. Really neat when you look.
- 7:22At the Hebrew it actually talks about God and Jesus in
- 7:31Deuteronomy 3215. This is out of.
- 7:34Moses's mouth. Way back when, and I just like
- 7:39when you. See these things it.
- 7:41I'm like. How is this missed?
- 7:43Like how can, how can there be people?
- 7:47Who? The Jewish people?
- 7:49How can they not know that? Jesus is the Son of God.
- 7:54All these. Different references here it.
- 7:55Is in Deuteronomy 3215. And and if I.
- 7:59Hadn't gone back to the. Hebrew I wouldn't even picked.
- 8:02Up on this but it. Was all because I was looking at
- 8:04the vine and I'm going through the vine and I'll.
- 8:06Next, go through the branches. But this is just.
- 8:10It's so cool, so let. Me.
- 8:13I guess let's just start there with.
- 8:15God and Jesus. So it's Deuteronomy 30.
- 8:19Two verse. 15 Now this says just you run.
- 8:23Grew fat and kicked, filled with.
- 8:26Food. They became heavy and sleek.
- 8:29They abandoned the God who made them.
- 8:33And rejected the rock their. Savior, so you.
- 8:38Could take it and say. OK, this is 1 and the same.
- 8:41Which that would be accurate. But when you get.
- 8:46Into the Hebrew. SO do if you want to look.
- 8:50At this yourself go to Blue Letter Bible.
- 8:53Dot org and look up Deuteronomy 30. 2.
- 8:57Verse 15 and then click on the. Left side where it says.
- 9:01Tools and then a. A screen will open below and
- 9:04it'll give you. Word for word.
- 9:07What it says So jashuran is a word.
- 9:12For Israel, I mean when you click on strong's are well it
- 9:16says upright. 1 is what it means and it's being referred to I
- 9:23guess. Poetically as Israel.
- 9:26As the people of Israel. When you look at the genesis.
- 9:33Hebrew Chaldea lexicon. It says a poetic.
- 9:37At the same time, apparently a tender and loving.
- 9:40Appellation of the People of. Israel found four times.
- 9:44So there's that word that explains it.
- 9:48Grew fat and kicked. You are grown fat, thick and
- 9:51sleek. Then he forsook God.
- 9:54Now here's where it gets interesting.
- 9:56That's Strong's. H433.
- 10:01But when you look. At the translation it is.
- 10:05Aloha. ELOHA that.
- 10:10Is different from Elohim. Which is plural Eloha is.
- 10:16Singular, so it's talking about single.
- 10:20A lot of times when God has talked about you'll see Elohim.
- 10:23So it's the Trinity, like the Father, Son and Holy Spirit
- 10:26together, but in this particular space, it place, it's just
- 10:31saying singular. And then it.
- 10:34Says so. It says Aloha.
- 10:37Who? Made him.
- 10:41Let's see. Made him who?
- 10:43Let's see what's. It to to fashion accomplished to
- 10:47make that's the description and and and says and scorned which
- 10:55to. Let's see, figuratively to be
- 11:00foolish. Scorned the rock so.
- 11:05When we get to the Rock, You know how.
- 11:07Jesus is always called the rock. The Rock.
- 11:10Of God like he is the I mean, you get to.
- 11:13The dream that Nebuchadnezzar has and there was a rock that
- 11:18was not cut from human. Hands that crushes the 10.
- 11:21Toes in that vision that was seen and that rock is.
- 11:26Jesus, I mean you can find throughout scripture.
- 11:28If you want to search the Rock, You can find that.
- 11:31Jesus is. Referred to the Rock.
- 11:32And I think there's actually. Specific scripture.
- 11:35In the New Testament, that. Calls Jesus specifically.
- 11:38The rock. I mean it it.
- 11:39Clarifies that Jesus is this. Rock.
- 11:42And it says but they and scorned the.
- 11:45Rock. Of his salvation and his
- 11:48salvation, I mean, it's. It is salvation, but the word
- 11:52for salvation is Yeshua. Which, which is, you know,
- 11:57Jesus's Hebrew name. So which let's see, Here's the
- 12:03pronunciation. Strong's Age, 3444.
- 12:07Yeshua. Yeshua.
- 12:10So I thought that was really interesting that it even if you,
- 12:15if your your eyes are open to it, you will.
- 12:18See that? The Creator and the 1 the rock
- 12:24of their salvation. Yeshua, which I know is there's
- 12:28just, you know, Hebrew words and names mean things and it's
- 12:33really important. So it mean let's see salvation
- 12:40help, deliverance, health save, saving welfare and it's just
- 12:45very interesting that that name. Was actually Jesus?
- 12:49'S name and the translation was just because there wasn't that
- 12:53we have of Jesus in English is I don't know.
- 12:59Why they chose Jesus? Instead of Joshua, because
- 13:03Joshua would be the same thing as this one.
- 13:05But anyway, that's that's a whole nother subject, but so.
- 13:10That's where I saw that. You know, singular it was
- 13:13talking about the savior, the rock and.
- 13:17Jesus. So then in, let's see.
- 13:21We should read the whole chapter 30. 2 because it's very
- 13:25interesting. So listen, you heavens, and I
- 13:29will. Speak.
- 13:30Hear you, Earth. The words of my mouth.
- 13:33So to me this seems. Like it?
- 13:36States this. Is not just to.
- 13:37Israel, this is like to. The.
- 13:41You know, heavens and the earth. Everything like listen to this.
- 13:45Let my teaching fall like rain, and my words descend like dew,
- 13:50like showers on new grass, like abundant rain on tender plants.
- 13:55I will proclaim the name of the. Lord, oh.
- 13:57Praise the greatness of our. God, he is the rock.
- 14:02His words are perfect. And all his ways are.
- 14:05Just a faithful God who does no wrong, upright and just.
- 14:11Is he? They are corrupt and not his
- 14:17children. To their shame, they.
- 14:19Are a warped. And crooked generation.
- 14:23Is this the way you repay the Lord?
- 14:26You foolish and unwise people, is he not your father, your
- 14:32Creator, who made you and formed you?
- 14:35Remember the? Days of old.
- 14:38Consider the generations long past.
- 14:41Ask your father and he will tell you.
- 14:44Your. Elders and they will explain to
- 14:46you when the Most High gave the nation.
- 14:50'S their inheritance when he. Divided all mankind.
- 14:54He set up boundaries for the people according to the number
- 14:58of the sons of Israel. Again this.
- 15:02Is something that's relevant today.
- 15:04Because there, you know, is there are all these different
- 15:08opinions of. What territory Israel should
- 15:12have? But if we go to the Bible, we
- 15:14can see the extents. There are actually specific
- 15:20locator marks of the land of Israel and it's.
- 15:23Not what Israel has today. It's.
- 15:25Larger than what Israel has today, so the Bible.
- 15:31Confirms. That Israel is within its
- 15:34territory and Israel actually should be having more territory
- 15:37and and will have. More territory when Jesus
- 15:40returns. So anyway, going back to verse 9
- 15:45for the Lord's portion is his people.
- 15:48Jacob His. Allotted inheritance in a desert
- 15:51land, he found him in a barren and howling.
- 15:55Waste, he shielded. Him and cared for him he guarded
- 15:59him as the. Apple of his eye.
- 16:02Like an eagle that stirs up its nest and.
- 16:06Hovers. Over its young that spreads its
- 16:08wings to catch them, and carries them aloft.
- 16:12The Lord alone led him. No foreign God was with him.
- 16:19So this is Israel? He made him ride on the heights
- 16:23of the land and fed. Him with the fruit.
- 16:26Of the fields he nourished him with honey from the rock and
- 16:31with oil from the flinty crag, with curds and milk from herd
- 16:36and flock. And with fattened lambs.
- 16:38And goats with choice Rams of Beshan and the finest kernels.
- 16:43Of. Wheat.
- 16:44You drank the foaming blood of the grape jeshurun.
- 16:50So the upright one that is Israel grew fat and kicked.
- 16:55Filled with food. They became heavy and sleek.
- 16:58They abandoned the God who made them and.
- 17:03Rejected Rejected their rock the.
- 17:06Savior isn't that interesting? They made him jealous with their
- 17:10foreign gods idolatry and angered him.
- 17:15With their detestable idols. The things that they.
- 17:19Made as a priority above God, they sacrificed to false gods.
- 17:26Which are not a God. So they had all of.
- 17:28These altars set up on all these different mountains, and they
- 17:31were praying to different gods of the Pagan nations, and they
- 17:34were. Offering sacrifices, even.
- 17:36Sacrificing at different points. They even.
- 17:39Sacrificed their children to Molech.
- 17:41So there's a lot. Of stuff that was.
- 17:43Happening that that God was not happy.
- 17:45About so they sacrificed to false gods.
- 17:48Which are not God gods they had not known.
- 17:52Gods that recently appeared Gods.
- 17:55Your ancestors did not fear. So again, there's a whole nother
- 18:03thought I have on all those on on these things.
- 18:06These these these gods. That aren't gods that appear and
- 18:11claim to be gods. I think it's it's Satan and his
- 18:15fallen. Angels who do this.
- 18:17You and there's even more that. Will get to scripture where it
- 18:21it supports this. Theory You deserted the rock.
- 18:26Who fathered you? You forgot the God who gave you
- 18:30birth. So the rock is Jesus.
- 18:33You forgot. The God who gave you.
- 18:34Birth God created all mankind. The Lord.
- 18:38Saw this and rejected them because he was angered by his
- 18:42sons and daughters. I will hide my face from them,
- 18:46he said. And see what their end will be.
- 18:50For they are a perverse. Generation children who are
- 18:54unfaithful. They made me jealous by what is
- 18:58no God and angered me. With their worthless idols.
- 19:03I will make them envious by those who are not a people.
- 19:08I will make them angry by a nation that has no
- 19:12understanding. For a fire will be.
- 19:15Kindled it. By my wrath, one that.
- 19:18Burns down to the realm. Of the dead below.
- 19:22That's Hades. It will devour the earth.
- 19:28And its. Harvest and set afire the.
- 19:31Foundations of the mountains. This is not a small fire.
- 19:37I will heap calamities on them and spend my arrows against
- 19:41them. OK, now.
- 19:43Here, we've heard this before. I will send wasting famine
- 19:47against them, consuming pestilence and deadly plague.
- 19:53I think it. The translation might say fire,
- 19:55but some some of these translations.
- 19:58Swap out words that. Don't really make sense why.
- 20:00They did that. But here's something really
- 20:03interesting in Deuteronomy 3224. I will.
- 20:07Send against them the fangs. Of wild.
- 20:11Beast the venom of Vipers that glide in the.
- 20:15Dust. So that at least this.
- 20:20Translation. It's it seems like the venom of
- 20:24Vipers that glide in the dust. That's like snakes.
- 20:28That's like Satan. And.
- 20:32If we go back to Genesis chapter 3, we'll we'll.
- 20:37Clarify that point because if you remember that when God
- 20:43cursed the snake and he said you will crawl on your stomach or
- 20:47whatever like when God cursed the serpent.
- 20:51So the serpent is something like reptilian and.
- 20:55He cursed. The serpent and said you.
- 20:57Will you? Will.
- 20:58Crawl on your belly. Or something to that effect.
- 21:01And you will eat dust. And I always thought that was
- 21:03weird because you can picture a snake.
- 21:06But I'm like, I don't know that snakes eat.
- 21:08Dust. And I never quite understood
- 21:11that and but then if you again search this was another.
- 21:17Search that I did. Where you see that dust?
- 21:21Is. Human are human beings and if
- 21:25we. Think about.
- 21:27OK, so. I don't know.
- 21:29Remember, man, that you are dust into dust you shall return.
- 21:33So Adam was. Formed from the dust.
- 21:39God took the dust and formed it, made it into Adam and blew.
- 21:46Breath, the breath of life. And so Adam was created from
- 21:53dust and then it says the serpent will devour the.
- 21:58Dust the rest of his. Life, so the serpent is
- 22:01constantly going after humanity, constantly trying to, you know,
- 22:07devour humanity. So there's a, you know that says
- 22:13the enemy. The thief comes only to steal,
- 22:17kill. And destroy.
- 22:19I have come that they may have life.
- 22:22And have it to the full. This was Jesus saying this.
- 22:25So his enemy Satan comes. Only to steal, kill and destroy.
- 22:31Well, that was the. Curse that God.
- 22:32Put on the serpent that. All of the days of his life.
- 22:36He will be on his. Belly, He'll be like the.
- 22:38Serpent and he will eat dust, so he maybe not eat.
- 22:44Isn't maybe the best. Translation But he will devour
- 22:48mankind and that's what his purpose is and that's what he's
- 22:52doing because and and that was his judgement because of what he
- 22:57did. He deceived mankind to turn them
- 23:00away from God. He deceived Eve into thinking.
- 23:04That did God really say? That and so she.
- 23:07Doubted God and proceeded. To listen to the serpent.
- 23:11So God was angry with both of them.
- 23:13He was angry with the serpent for doing that to Eve, and he
- 23:17was angry to. Eve for.
- 23:18Listening to the serpent. And so they both had punishment.
- 23:22That's where the the pains of childbirth are talked.
- 23:26About that was the. Punishment of Eve and then Adam
- 23:29also had punishment where he was going to have to.
- 23:32Work hard the rest of his. Life and toil the earth just to
- 23:35make ends meet. So hard labor.
- 23:38And both of them had hard labor. Adam, you know of the, you know,
- 23:43working and then Eve from childbirth.
- 23:46And so you can see that this this all was like established in
- 23:52the beginning in the book of Genesis.
- 23:54Chapter 3 where it talks. About it, it's Genesis 314 where
- 23:59the serpent will be devouring people.
- 24:02And I just thought, you know, I never understood that.
- 24:06And then. As I was reading this.
- 24:08It's just started to make sense. So going back to Deuteronomy
- 24:13chapter 32, verse 24, I will send wasting famine against
- 24:18them, consuming pestilence, deadly plague, and I will send
- 24:21against them the fangs of the. Wild beast.
- 24:24It's really interesting. Because this also lines up or
- 24:27matches up. With with the book of.
- 24:31Revelation in the Book of Revelation.
- 24:34It it's the fourth seal. And people are killed by sword,
- 24:42famine, plague and the wild. Beasts of the Earth.
- 24:47It's very similar to here. It didn't talk about sword in
- 24:50this Deuteronomy 3224, but it talked about all the other ones.
- 24:55And so again, I think. These they have like I.
- 25:00Future fulfillment and and it tells us like back in the Old
- 25:06Testament. It stated what was.
- 25:08Going to happen in the future. OK, now the.
- 25:11Sword is actually. Talked about in the next
- 25:13sentence Deuteronomy 3225. In the street the sword will
- 25:19make them childless. In their homes, terror will
- 25:22reign. The young men and young women
- 25:25will perish, The infants and those.
- 25:28With Gray hair, I said I would. Scatter them and erase their
- 25:33name from human memory, but. I dreaded the.
- 25:38Taunt of the enemy. List least the.
- 25:41Adversary misunderstood and say our hand has triumphed.
- 25:46The Lord has not done all this. They are a nation.
- 25:51They are a nation so. This is a.
- 25:53This is. Talking about well.
- 25:56OK. They are a nation without sense.
- 25:59There is no discernment in them. If only.
- 26:03They were wise. And would understand this and
- 26:06discern what their end will be. How could one man chase 1000 or
- 26:15two put 10,000 to flight unless their rock had sold them?
- 26:22Unless the Lord had given them up.
- 26:27For their rock is not like our rock.
- 26:31As even our enemies concede, their vine comes from the vine
- 26:39of Sodom and from the fields of Gomorrah.
- 26:43Their grapes are filled with poison and their clusters with
- 26:46bitterness. Their wine is the venom of
- 26:51serpents, the deadly poison of cobras.
- 26:56So look at that, right? There is that it's it's talking
- 27:00about this good and evil. It's talking about a the rock of
- 27:04salvation, Jesus, and it's talking about the other one,
- 27:10their rock. So the ones who are coming
- 27:12against Israel, their vine comes from the vine of Sodom and the
- 27:17fields of Gomorrah and their grapes.
- 27:20The fruit that they produce. There's poison, bitterness, and
- 27:25their wine is the venom of serpents, the deadly poison of
- 27:30cobras. That's all.
- 27:32Like the serpents are connected to Satan and.
- 27:36So it's, it's, it is truly a battle.
- 27:39Between good and evil, between God and Satan and the the ones
- 27:44that Satan has taken along with him are, you know, convinced to
- 27:48go along with him and says Satan is the ruler of the heir and he,
- 27:54you know, has some sort of rain or I don't know, influence here
- 28:00on the. Earth.
- 28:00It's very obvious. We can all see that, but I just
- 28:04think this is really interesting that and you know that Sodom and
- 28:07Gomorrah. Was destroyed and it was there
- 28:11was a lot of. Perversion there.
- 28:12There was a lot of sexual immorality.
- 28:15There, there were all these. Things that.
- 28:19There were. Prayers that were going up to
- 28:20God and God actually came down, I believe it was Jesus with two
- 28:25angels that came to the Sodom and Gomorrah and spoke with
- 28:29Abraham and Sarah and visited to, you know, confirm.
- 28:35That the prayers that were. Going up I mean.
- 28:37Not that God would not be able. To see that, but that's what
- 28:40they said. That they were came to confirm
- 28:42that what was being said to them was actually happening.
- 28:45So they were, you know, examining for themselves.
- 28:48And in the meantime, they tell Abraham and Sarah.
- 28:50That they're going to have. Isaac about a year from now,
- 28:53from the time they visited. So anyway, it was, but Sodom and
- 28:57Gomorrah were destroyed by the angels when they came back the
- 29:02second time and they came first to see and then second they came
- 29:06to strike judgment and it was completely obliterated.
- 29:10So when you think about this, it's their vine comes from the
- 29:14vine of Sodom, Gomorrah. That was what was.
- 29:16Influencing Sodom and Gomorrah, that's.
- 29:18Why God destroyed? It because it was evil and
- 29:22that's what God is going to do again when.
- 29:25Jesus returns. He is.
- 29:27Going to bring the wrath of God against.
- 29:31All who are. From the vine, if you want to
- 29:34call it the Vine of Sodom and Gomorrah.
- 29:36So verse 32. 34 Have I not kept this in reserve and sealed it in
- 29:43my vaults? It is mine to avenge.
- 29:48I will repay. So this is you know God is going
- 29:53to handle this in due time their.
- 29:58Foot will slip their day of disaster.
- 30:00Is near, and their doom rushes upon them the Lord will
- 30:05vindicate his people, and relent concerning his servants, when he
- 30:10sees their strength is gone, and no one is left slave or.
- 30:15Free. He will say.
- 30:18Now where are their gods? The rock they took refuge.
- 30:23In. The gods who ate the fat of
- 30:26their sacrifices. And drank the wine of their
- 30:28drink offerings. Let them.
- 30:30Rise up to help you. Let them give you shelter.
- 30:34See now that I myself am He. There is no.
- 30:38God beside me I put to death, and I bring to.
- 30:42Life I. Have wounded and I will heal,
- 30:46and no one can deliver out of my hand.
- 30:51I lift my hand to heaven, and solemnly swear as surely as.
- 30:56I live forever. When I sharpen my flashing sword
- 31:01and my hand grasped it in judgment, I will take vengeance
- 31:06on my adversaries and repay those who hate me.
- 31:11I will make my arrows drunk with blood while my sword devours
- 31:17flesh. The.
- 31:18Blood of the. Slain and the.
- 31:19Captives the heads. Of the enemy leaders, rejoice,
- 31:25you nations with. His people, for he will.
- 31:28Avenge the blood of his servants.
- 31:31He will take vengeance on his enemies and make atonement for
- 31:36his land and people. I thought that was interesting
- 31:40too. And he will make atonement.
- 31:43That's what Jesus did. Jesus is was the the atoning
- 31:48sacrifice, the one sacrifice that made it, makes it.
- 31:52Possible for us to be. In the presence of God,
- 31:57Deuteronomy 3244 Moses came with Joshua, son of nun and.
- 32:03Spoke all the words. Of this song in the hearing of
- 32:07the people, when Moses finished reciting all.
- 32:12These words to. Israel, he said to them.
- 32:15Take to heart all the words. I have solemnly declared to you
- 32:19this day, so that you may command.
- 32:22Your children to obey carefully all the words of this.
- 32:27Law. They are not just.
- 32:30Idle words for you, they are your life.
- 32:36By them you will live long in the land you are crossing the
- 32:40Jordan to possess. So then it continues on about
- 32:45Moses, you know, knowing that he was going to die on Mount Nebo
- 32:49in modern day Jordan. So that was we talked about the
- 32:55only one that I haven't talked about yet.
- 32:57Oh well, OK, Psalm 80 was another one.
- 33:00I don't know where I have that one.
- 33:07I don't know if I. Closed that out because I kept.
- 33:10Looking over all these, I think I might have closed at because I
- 33:16was in Deuteronomy. 32. But Psalm 80.
- 33:21So this. Is how I got to Psalm 80.
- 33:23It was from the Vine discussion and this interest me because it
- 33:29said it says Psalm 80, verse 8. You transplanted a vine from
- 33:36Egypt. You drove out the nations and
- 33:40planted it and then? Another verse says return to.
- 33:43Us God Almighty look. Down from heaven and.
- 33:45Sea watch over this vine. And then it also.
- 33:49Says your vine is cut down. It is burned with.
- 33:51Fire at your rebuke. People perish.
- 33:54So I wanted to know a little bit more about this vine that was
- 33:58transplanted from Egypt. So Psalm 80 is another
- 34:03interesting one to read. So this is for the director of
- 34:07music. To the tune of.
- 34:09The lilies of the. Covenant of Asaph.
- 34:11Now Asaph was a prophet and it's called a Psalm.
- 34:15Here a shepherd of Israel. And think about this.
- 34:20Jesus was known as the good. Shepherd.
- 34:22And this is even before Jesus's time.
- 34:24This is back in the BC time frame.
- 34:26So hear us. Shepherd so it's prophetic.
- 34:30Hear us, shepherd of Israel, you who lead Joseph like.
- 34:34A flock, you who sit enthroned between the cherubim, shine.
- 34:40Forth before. Ephraim, Benjamin, and Manasseh
- 34:46awaken your might come and. Save us, restore us, O God.
- 34:52Make your face shine on us. That we may be saved.
- 34:57How long, Lord Almighty, will your anger smoulder against the
- 35:02prayers of your people? You have fed them with the bread
- 35:06of. Tears.
- 35:07You have made them drink. Tears by the bowl.
- 35:10Full You have made us an object of derision to our neighbors and
- 35:16our enemies mock us. This is something else that God
- 35:19had promised too, that he was going to make everybody.
- 35:22Look at Israel with disgust. And think about what's happening
- 35:25right now. There's so much anti-Semitism
- 35:27right now and it just seems like is this actually being, you
- 35:32know, most, most countries are despising Israel.
- 35:36If you look at United Nations and votes against Israel and you
- 35:40look at the sentiment that people on.
- 35:42Lots of different. Podcasts talk about, talk
- 35:46against. Israel, you can see that.
- 35:48These things. That were talked about are.
- 35:51Coming to fruition. And this isn't the first time I
- 35:54think about what happened with Hitler and the, you know, people
- 35:58being against the Jews at that time.
- 36:01So but here we seem to be in another time where this is
- 36:05happening again anyway. Psalm 80, verse six.
- 36:09You have made us an object of derision to our neighbors and
- 36:13our enemies. Mock us, restore us, God
- 36:15Almighty, make your face shine on us so that on us that we may
- 36:21be saved. You transplanted a vine from.
- 36:24Egypt. You drove out nations and
- 36:26planted it. You cleared the ground for it
- 36:30and it took root and filled the land, the mountains.
- 36:34Were covered with its shade. The mighty Cedars with its
- 36:38branches, its branches reached as far as the sea, its.
- 36:43Shoots as far as the river. Remember, like from the river to
- 36:47the. Sea, if you've heard.
- 36:48That recently? Why have you broken down its?
- 36:53Walls so that all who pass pick its grapes.
- 36:57Boars from the forest ravage it, and insects from the fields feed
- 37:02on it. Return to us.
- 37:04God Almighty, look down from heaven and sea.
- 37:08Watch over this vine the. Root your right.
- 37:12Hand has planted the sun. You have raised up or it says.
- 37:17Or the branch you have. Raised up for yourself, your.
- 37:21Vine is cut down. It is burned with.
- 37:25Fire at your rebuke. Your people perish.
- 37:29So again, we're seeing the thing about branch and vine, and we're
- 37:32seeing that the the vine is cut down and it's burned with fire.
- 37:36Let your hand rest on the man at your right hand, the Son of Man
- 37:42you have. Raised up for yourself.
- 37:46Now this is the NIV translation and I didn't look at various
- 37:49translations, but again, doesn't this sound like Jesus that is
- 37:53being talked about? Verse. 18 Then we will not.
- 37:59I'll read that again. Let your hand rest on the man at
- 38:02your right hand, the Son of Man. You have raised up for.
- 38:06Yourself and again when I. Looked.
- 38:09At references to the branch, there's a lot about.
- 38:14Jesus with that as well. Verse 18 then we will not.
- 38:19Turn away from you Revive. Us and we will call on your
- 38:23name. I think that's what it says,
- 38:25that Jesus will return when it's like when.
- 38:28The Jewish people say blessed. Blessed is he who comes in in
- 38:31the name. I think that is when it says
- 38:34that Jesus would return. So verse 19, restore us, Lord
- 38:40God Almighty, make your face shine on us that we may be
- 38:43saved. That's the end of Psalm 80.
- 38:45So I think there's some some interesting things found in
- 38:50Psalm 80 and then when I looked up branch Isaiah 4 verse 2.
- 38:58In that day the branch of the Lord will be beautiful and
- 39:03glorious, and the fruit of the land will be the pride and.
- 39:07Glory of the survivors. In Israel and then in Isaiah 11
- 39:17verse one, a shoot will come up from the stump of Jesse.
- 39:21Now Jesse was the father of David.
- 39:24And Jesus is from the line of David.
- 39:27So a shoot will come up from the stump of Jesse, from his roots.
- 39:31A branch will bear fruit. Let's see, there's a.
- 39:41There's a contrasting 1. That talks about a rejected.
- 39:46Branch in Isaiah 1419. I think that might be Satan in
- 39:51Jeremiah 20. Three verse 5 it says the days
- 39:54are. Coming, declares the Lord when.
- 39:56I will raise up for David. A righteous branch, a king who
- 40:02will reign wisely and do. What is just?
- 40:05And right in the land. That's Jesus.
- 40:09In Jeremiah 33 verse 15, in those days and at that time, I
- 40:14will make a righteous branch sprout from David's line.
- 40:19He will do what is just and right.
- 40:21In the land again. That's Jesus.
- 40:25So and then we get to these references.
- 40:29Let's see. Zechariah 3, verse 8.
- 40:31Listen, High Priest Joshua, you and your associates.
- 40:34Seated before you. Who are men symbolic of things
- 40:39to come? I am going to bring my servant
- 40:42the branch again. That's a.
- 40:44Reference to Jesus Zechariah 6 verse 12 tell.
- 40:51Him. This is what the Lord Almighty
- 40:53says. Here is the man whose name is
- 40:55the branch, and he will branch out from his place and build the
- 40:58temple. Of the Lord.
- 41:02And let's see I'm trying to see if there's anything more so then
- 41:09Jesus in John chapter 15 he says remain in me.
- 41:15As I also. Remain in you.
- 41:18No branch can bear fruit. By itself it.
- 41:23Must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit
- 41:29unless you remain in me. So that's us.
- 41:33Being connected. To Jesus.
- 41:37And remaining in the vine. And how are we connected?
- 41:40We are connected. By the Holy Spirit, just like.
- 41:42Jesus prayed to the. Father before he died and he.
- 41:46Said Father let. Them be one with us as we are
- 41:51one you know something I'm paraphrasing that he goes let
- 41:55them be you know it very similar to the relationship to be 1.
- 42:00I have one in spirit as God is. The Father, God the Father is
- 42:05with Jesus the. Son of God in John 15 verse.
- 42:10Six, it says if. You do not remain in me.
- 42:15You are like a branch that is thrown away and.
- 42:17Withers such branches are picked up.
- 42:21Thrown into the fire and burned. So again, there's so many
- 42:26different. References in Scripture.
- 42:28That we need to. Have the Holy Spirit.
- 42:31And by the Spirit. It says God is Spirit.
- 42:34And we must worship in spirit. That's why the.
- 42:37Spirit of God the Holy. Spirit in someone's life is so
- 42:41important. Just like Jesus, I always say
- 42:44this. Probably every podcast.
- 42:46John chapter 3 Unless you are born again, you cannot see the
- 42:50Kingdom of God. You need to be born of the.
- 42:53Spirit. John gave a baptism of
- 42:56repentance, but. Jesus baptizes with the Holy
- 43:00Spirit. And then there were other things
- 43:05that I. Looked up.
- 43:06So yeah, it was John 15 verse 4. Abide in me and I in you, as the
- 43:11branch cannot. Bear fruit of itself.
- 43:14We can't do it alone unless it abides in the vine.
- 43:18Neither can you unless you abide in me so by staying connected
- 43:24to. Jesus through the Holy.
- 43:26Spirit, that's how we say, that's how we remain in Him.
- 43:32And this is something else. Like if you think about a vine,
- 43:37a vine water comes through the vine to get to the leaves and
- 43:41gets to the branches. That's how water.
- 43:43Moves through a plant the. Water is the Holy Spirit.
- 43:50And Jesus kind of alluded to this when he was speaking with
- 43:53the woman at the well in John chapter 4, verse 14.
- 43:58But whoever drinks the. Water.
- 44:01I give them will never thirst indeed.
- 44:05The water I give. Them will become in them a
- 44:09spring of water welling up to eternal life.
- 44:15And we know that Jesus gives. Us, the Holy Spirit.
- 44:21He receives the Holy Spirit from the Father.
- 44:24And gives the Spirit. To us, it's.
- 44:26Jesus's decision. Who He gives the Holy Spirit to.
- 44:31And I was, I was not, you know. Jesus talks about.
- 44:34Being the water of life and. And it's the.
- 44:39Spirit who gives life. And so I know.
- 44:45Jesus gives the Holy Spirit. And so I was just.
- 44:48Curious like is the Holy Spirit the water of life?
- 44:52And so I just searched it and, and just by searching it, it'll
- 44:57give some Bible references and it says yes, in Christian
- 45:00theology, the living water. Jesus offers is the holy.
- 45:04Spirit, a divine gift of spiritual refreshment, life, and
- 45:10eternal satisfaction that flows from believers who have faith in
- 45:14him, providing constant nourishment and the.
- 45:18Power to. Live a transformed life.
- 45:23That is evidence of the Holy Spirit when someone's life is
- 45:27transformed there. Was a before.
- 45:31And then there's an after. And there's a difference.
- 45:33As explained in the Gospel of John, this is the key metaphor
- 45:38used in Jesus's encounter with the Samaritan woman and at.
- 45:43The. Feast of Tabernacles contrasting
- 45:47physical. Water.
- 45:48With the spiritual, inexhaustible source.
- 45:51Of the Spirit. So in John Chapter 7 verse 37
- 45:59through 39, Jesus declares that on the last day whoever believes
- 46:05in him will have quote rivers of living water flow from within,
- 46:12which the scripture clarifies. Refers to the holy.
- 46:16Spirit given after His glorification.
- 46:20So it says. In John 30, I'll.
- 46:24Read it directly from Scripture. John Chapter 7, verse 37 on the
- 46:28last and greatest. Day of the festival, Jesus
- 46:31stood. And said in a loud.
- 46:33Voice. Let anyone who is thirsty come
- 46:37to me and drink, whoever believes in me.
- 46:40As scripture has said, rivers. Of living water will flow from
- 46:45within them. By this he meant the Spirit whom
- 46:50those who believed in Him. Were later to receive.
- 46:56Up to that time, the spirit had not been given since.
- 47:00Jesus. Had not yet been glorified.
- 47:06Then John actually referred to this when Jesus came up to him
- 47:11to. Get baptized.
- 47:13And this is found in. Luke chapter 3 verse. 16 John
- 47:17answered them all. I baptize you with water.
- 47:21But one who is more powerful than I will come.
- 47:26The straps of whose? Sandals I am not worthy to
- 47:29untie. He will baptize.
- 47:31You with the Holy Spirit. And fire and that's kind of
- 47:37interesting. When I saw the and fire there, I
- 47:39I always remember I would. Recall the Holy Spirit but.
- 47:43When I was reading it this time I was like wait, it says and
- 47:46fire and So what does fire mean? Like I know that when the.
- 47:53Disciples or his followers received the Holy Spirit at.
- 47:58Pentecost tongues of fire came upon their.
- 48:01Heads or above their heads? So you know, that's what that.
- 48:05Could be. But then I also was thinking
- 48:08about other times where, well, I was thinking about something in
- 48:13the future in the Book of Revelation.
- 48:16Where it talks about. Revelation 11/5 and this is
- 48:19referring to the two witnesses and it says if anyone tries to
- 48:23harm them, fire comes from their mouths and devours their
- 48:29enemies. This is how.
- 48:30Anyone who wants to harm them must die.
- 48:34Now, a lot of the Book of Revelation is very symbolic or
- 48:38figurative. And so, you know, could God do
- 48:43something supernatural if fire actually comes out of somebody's
- 48:46mouth? Absolutely he could.
- 48:48But I do think that the fire may.
- 48:50Be like the word. Of God that it burns when it
- 48:55comes out of somebody's mouth and the, the truth that's found
- 49:00in the in in the Bible, in Scripture.
- 49:04And so and that's how you know and it says this is how anyone
- 49:09who wants to harm them must die. So somebody who's going against
- 49:13the two witnesses that God appoints, the two witnesses who
- 49:16testify about the gospel and they're giving this message and
- 49:20everybody hates them. Nobody wants to hear them.
- 49:23Nobody wants you know, they, they, they're tormenting.
- 49:26It's just like 2 other people. They're like, I don't like these
- 49:29guys. And they all like when the two
- 49:32witnesses finally. Get killed by the beast that
- 49:35rises. Up.
- 49:36I think it's, you know, something spiritual that
- 49:38eventually gets them, I guess. Three years later.
- 49:42Or 3 1/2. Years later, after they have.
- 49:45Been proclaiming the gospel, everybody is annoyed with them,
- 49:51they don't like them and the beast rises up and actually
- 49:54kills them then and this fire could be.
- 49:58The word of God. The word from.
- 49:59God, there's just. There's a lot of different
- 50:03thoughts and opinions on the Book of Revelation, and we just
- 50:06need to remember what the. Text actually says.
- 50:09And you can consider people's opinions, but don't put all your
- 50:13faith in that because when you get into these prophetic things
- 50:17and symbolic things, just like some of the Jews did not
- 50:23recognize Jesus because. They already had it set.
- 50:25Up in their own mind of how it was going to happen and they
- 50:30didn't realize. There was a delay.
- 50:32Between his coming and his being reigning as king, they didn't
- 50:38realize they would have. That would happen in two
- 50:40different segments, and. So therefore they rejected.
- 50:43Him when he first came and died on the cross.
- 50:48So. We also can't be.
- 50:51Too certain about our. Interpretations and what we
- 50:55believe and the most important thing is just.
- 50:59To be familiar with the the the words.
- 51:02Of scripture and what it says and then you know when you see
- 51:05things happening you can maybe then you'll figure it out but
- 51:08it's probably going to be in hindsight before we actually
- 51:11know how these things get fulfilled anyway for a very.
- 51:15Short chapter, there was a lot. To cover there and this is
- 51:18wrapping it up. I can't believe it's this long
- 51:20already, but I hope this is beneficial to you.
