- 0:48She's a happy girl.
- 1:02The Bible is full of words of encouragement, but perhaps the most precious is
- 1:07the words of Jesus, which command us not to let our hearts be troubled.
- 1:12He can command this because He can deliver us to this state of mind.
- 1:16If we place our faith in Him, He will keep us in perfect peace.
- 1:22Join us in this broadcast of Woman at the Well Ministries as Kim searches the
- 1:26scriptures, revealing God's plan for a peaceful heart.
- 1:30Hello, and thank you for joining us in this broadcast of Woman at the Well Ministries.
- 1:34We are coming out of the book of John in the 14th chapter in the first verse,
- 1:39and it's a passage of scripture that is spoken about often.
- 1:43And it's a passage of scripture that gives us great joy and hope and comfort.
- 1:49But as we begin to look at the lesson today, we are going to only speak of the
- 1:53first part of John chapter 14 and verse 1, where Jesus is speaking,
- 1:59and he says, Let not your heart be troubled.
- 2:05And the verse concludes with, you believe in God, believe also in me.
- 2:12And if the Lord is willing in the lesson that follows this one,
- 2:16we will speak about the second part of John chapter 14 and verse 1.
- 2:20But for the next few moments, we are going to spend our time focusing our heart
- 2:25and our mind on Jesus's words that says, let not your heart be troubled. Shall we pray?
- 2:35Our kind and most gracious, dear Heavenly Father, Lord, we pray that you would just show up.
- 2:40Lord, we pray that you would fill our hearts with your presence,
- 2:45that you would clear our minds from all distractions.
- 2:50And Lord, that you would just speak to us as we look at your word when you spoke
- 2:54and said, let not your heart be troubled.
- 2:57And Lord, I pray that you would touch each person who is listening.
- 3:01I pray, dear Heavenly Father, that you would grab their heart,
- 3:04meeting them right where they are and help them, dear Heavenly Father,
- 3:08to open up their hearts to hear what you have to say.
- 3:12Lord, I pray for that balm of Gilead that can come only from you.
- 3:18Lord, I pray that you, the great physician, would just show up in the places,
- 3:24where people's hearts are needing that assurance.
- 3:29Dear Heavenly Father, I pray that you would speak to those who need to see you as the great I am.
- 3:36And that you would reveal yourself to them in ways like they've never seen you before.
- 3:41That as they began to really focus on your words that said, let not your heart
- 3:46be troubled, that they would begin to feel that peace that passeth all understanding
- 3:50that you have promised to those that place their faith in you.
- 3:54Lord, I pray that you would just remove me from the message and that you would
- 4:00just speak. the very words that you would have that would touch each and every
- 4:05life as they hear what you have to say.
- 4:10And Lord, I come to you as obedient as I know how, as humble as I can be,
- 4:18asking you to open my heart.
- 4:21That I could be filled with the blessed assurance that you have said,
- 4:25let not your heart be troubled.
- 4:28And I pray, dear Heavenly Father, as you speak to me, as I learn what you have
- 4:33to say to me, as I go through your scriptures, as you speak to my heart,
- 4:37as I give to those who are listening, Lord, that which you have given to me,
- 4:42I pray that we all walk away from this time at the throne, from this time that we are with you.
- 4:49Dear lord with a light load that we
- 4:52have taken you at your word and we've exchanged our burden for your burden which
- 4:58you said was light and easy and that your yoke was light lord i just pray that
- 5:03you would help us to do exactly what you said when you said cast your care upon you because you care,
- 5:10and lord i pray that you would take the feeble words that i would say and that
- 5:15you would enclose them with your grace and your mercy,
- 5:18that you would sprinkle them with your wisdom and that with your omniscience,
- 5:23you would drop them on each of our hearts, that we would walk away from this time with you.
- 5:31Changed and ignited inside with a fire from above, with life from the living
- 5:37water that comes only from you, that we would be a light into a lost and dying world.
- 5:44That we can spread your peace where there is chaos, that we can offer your words
- 5:51of encouragement and strength to a lost and dying world,
- 5:56where you can give peace and calm the troubled waters.
- 6:02Lord, let us walk each day in the firm assurance that you are God,
- 6:09and may our lights reflect that the anchor holds.
- 6:14Even in the midst of the storm.
- 6:18We thank you, dear Heavenly Father, that we know that your grace is sufficient.
- 6:25To all these things we ask in thy most precious and holy name we pray and all
- 6:29of God's people said, amen.
- 6:32For many of us, the times that we hear this passage of scripture are times when
- 6:39our hearts are filled with sorrow.
- 6:42For many of us, we hear this passage of Scripture quoted, read,
- 6:47written, and displayed at a time when we need to hold on to Jesus more than ever.
- 6:55And my friend, the truth of the matter is that the strength of this verse surpasses even that.
- 7:04In that each and every day that we live, whether we're on cloud nine or whether
- 7:09we're at the bottom of the valley.
- 7:11We have a hope, and it's in Jesus Christ.
- 7:15And the words that he spoke calmed the troubled seas.
- 7:21And he said in John chapter 14 and verse 1, Let not your heart be troubled.
- 7:30My friends, don't you remember what it was like when you were but just a child,
- 7:36and lots of things seem scary to you and lots of places seemed so frightening.
- 7:44Even just going to a mall or a grocery store, you're just a little person and
- 7:50everybody else towers over you and you cling so tightly to the hand of your mother or your father.
- 7:57And don't you remember when you were standing there and things seemed to be
- 8:01kind of frightening and you were scared and you were troubled on every side?
- 8:06Don't you remember the words that your mom or your dad would say?
- 8:12Everything's okay. I'm here. Don't worry.
- 8:17It's going to be okay. And they would just pick you up and carry you across the busy street.
- 8:23Or they would hold your hand a little tighter, and they would pull you just
- 8:27a little closer, and you would walk through the crowded corridor of the mall.
- 8:31Remember what it was like to feel
- 8:35that rush of peace overcome you
- 8:39as you heard those words because when
- 8:42you heard the words from mom or when you heard the words from dad you could
- 8:46believe them and you knew they were true when they said it's going to be okay
- 8:52you didn't worry anymore because the words came from authority they came from
- 8:58something you believed in they came from someone you trusted.
- 9:03No matter how wonderful your parents were, I pray to God you had the blessing
- 9:10to have the same kind that I did,
- 9:12tried and true and glorious and wonderful, absolutely bathed in the love of
- 9:18Christ and living a life to his glory from the beginning to the very end.
- 9:23But my friends, when they spoke to you, words of comfort,
- 9:28let me tell you, their abilities were limited and their capabilities were finite.
- 9:39Yet they could deliver because they were trustworthy and they loved you.
- 9:44Oh, but my friend, when you read John chapter 14 and verse 1,
- 9:51and he says, let not your heart be troubled.
- 9:55You can believe in that because his abilities are not limited,
- 10:01and his capabilities are not finite.
- 10:05You see, all things are under his feet. You see, we can do all things through
- 10:10Christ which strengtheneth us.
- 10:11You see, he is the great I am.
- 10:15He is the great physician. He is the alpha and the omega.
- 10:22He knows the beginning, and he knows the end and he knows the end before the
- 10:30beginning and when he says let not your heart be troubled.
- 10:37You can trust it and you can believe it and you can rest firmly in it because
- 10:45his commandments are true and he can ask you to not be troubled and he can command
- 10:53you to not be troubled because my friend,
- 10:55he can deliver you to a place of peace.
- 10:58He can lead you to a place of peace.
- 11:02He may not remove the storm but he'll
- 11:06definitely take you through it he may
- 11:09not remove the obstacles in your life because
- 11:13remember he has a plan and his plan is perfect and
- 11:17what he has chosen for you has been specifically chosen
- 11:21and he says let not your heart be
- 11:23troubled and he tells you in Romans 8 28 that
- 11:26all things work together for the good to them that love the lord to
- 11:30them that are called according to his purpose in jeremiah
- 11:3429 11 he clearly explains to you
- 11:37that he has an expected end for you and he wants you to follow him he speaks
- 11:45repeatedly in his scriptures friends if you're following what i'm saying you
- 11:53need to realize that he said let not your heart be troubled.
- 11:56And he said, I'm in control. And he says, I know the way, because in John chapter
- 12:0114, just a few verses below, he says, I am the way, the truth and the life.
- 12:06And no man cometh unto the Father but by me.
- 12:09Remember, he said, I am the way.
- 12:12And he said, you can know me.
- 12:15They said, whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
- 12:19And he said what manner of love
- 12:22the father hath bestowed upon us that we might be called the sons of god.
- 12:29My friends, your pain runs deep, and your hurt stings, but it's no match for him.
- 12:40And in John chapter 14 and verse 1, he said, let not your heart be troubled.
- 12:46In 1 Peter chapter 5 and verse 7, he says, casting all your care upon him, for he careth for you.
- 12:55My friends, you can let not your heart be troubled because you can believe in
- 12:59a God that will not fail. And he will deliver.
- 13:03He will deliver you from what you are in.
- 13:07He may not remove it, but his mighty hand will be upon you.
- 13:15His light will lead the way and his grace is sufficient.
- 13:21The anchor will hold. in the midst of the storm.
- 13:26If you would, please let your mind just wander back.
- 13:31Peter's on a boat and there's a storm coming. And I want you to see that when
- 13:36Peter looks out of the boat, Jesus is already there.
- 13:41You see, in the midst of the storm, Jesus was already there.
- 13:48Did you get that? In John chapter 17, he says he prays for us.
- 13:54He tells us that we don't always know what we need to pray for,
- 13:58but the Holy Spirit does.
- 14:01He tells us that he knows the things that we have need of before we even ask.
- 14:07Did you hear me? In the midst of the storm, Jesus was already there.
- 14:13Peter yells at him and he says, Lord, if it be you, bids me come.
- 14:18You see, Jesus knew Peter. And Peter knew Jesus.
- 14:23But in the midst of the storm, Jesus was out there. He was already there.
- 14:29But Peter was a little bit confused because he wasn't looking at Jesus for who
- 14:34he was. He was looking at the storm.
- 14:37You know, my friend, it's high time.
- 14:41We spend some time telling the storm who Jesus is instead of all of our time
- 14:47telling Jesus about the storm.
- 14:49He knows about the storm.
- 14:52He's already there. In our Bibles, if you'll look a little later,
- 14:58in Hebrews chapter 13 and verse 5, he says, let your conversation be without
- 15:03covetous and be content with such things as you have.
- 15:07For he has said, listen to me, I will never leave thee nor forsake thee.
- 15:14In John chapter 14 and verse 1, he says, let not your heart be troubled.
- 15:20In Hebrews chapter 13 and verse 5, he says, I'm there.
- 15:24In Peter's case, he was already there when Peter was asking for him.
- 15:30When Peter took his eyes off of Jesus I began to think, think.
- 15:36He lifted his arms up and he said, save me. And my Bible says immediately.
- 15:41And if you have some other translation, you get rid of it because you need to understand.
- 15:46It needs to say immediately. Because when you're in the midst of the storm.
- 15:52When the waves are crashing in, when doubt is on every side,
- 15:58when logic has left and reasoning has no place,
- 16:02you have no time because that
- 16:06split second the devil will
- 16:09slip in and that blessing of peace
- 16:12will escape you but you
- 16:15see the bible says in isaiah chapter 26 and
- 16:18verse 3 thou will keep him in perfect peace
- 16:21whose mind is stayed on thee because he
- 16:24trusteth in thee and in
- 16:27the midst of the storm in the
- 16:30midst of all that's going on jesus says
- 16:34let not your heart be troubled and he tells you you can do
- 16:37that because he says i'll never leave you nor forsake you and he explains to
- 16:42you that if you trust in me i'll keep you in perfect peace and no matter what
- 16:47you're going through you will be able to do it and your heart won't be troubled
- 16:51because your heart will know that it's the perfect will of God you're standing in.
- 16:57And when you're in the perfect will of God, you have absolutely perfect protection.
- 17:01Because when the Hebrews children went into the fiery furnace,
- 17:05three went in and it was Meshach, Shadrach, and Abednego.
- 17:08But when they looked into the fire, they saw the fourth man in there and he
- 17:12was likened to the son of God.
- 17:14And there wasn't any harm come to Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego.
- 17:19My friend, I don't know where your fiery furnace is. I know where mine has been.
- 17:25I don't know what troubled place you find yourself in, and maybe it seems so final.
- 17:31I looked into the face of my mother as I watched her pass from this world to
- 17:36the next, and in my heart, that was such a heart-wrenching thing to do.
- 17:41But when she said, goodbye world, she said, hello God, and from each step of
- 17:46this world to the next, he held her hand, and from every step that I stood and
- 17:52I watched, he held my hand, and his grace is sufficient.
- 17:56And even in those times, he said, let not your heart be troubled.
- 18:02You believe in God, believe also in me. And I went the distance for you, Kim.
- 18:07And I stood on Calvary for you. And I bought her soul.
- 18:11And I made her a mansion in heaven. And I'm taking her home.
- 18:15And I'm not leaving you. I haven't forsaken you.
- 18:19I haven't give up on you. I haven't hurt you. but her home is on high,
- 18:24and she's just a pilgrim passing through.
- 18:26Let not your heart be troubled. I am the way, and this is my plan,
- 18:32and this is my will, and it's as good today for you, Kim, as it was 20 years ago.
- 18:38It may not be what you want, but it is my will.
- 18:42Let not your heart be troubled.
- 18:45You believe in God. Believe also in me. I don't know where you are.
- 18:52And I don't know how tested and tried your faith may feel.
- 18:58But I know he said, let not your heart be troubled.
- 19:02I've gone nowhere. I'm still here. And I know he said, I love you.
- 19:10And I know he said, I'll never put any more on you.
- 19:16Than you can bear. But Kimmy, you've got to believe me, and you've got to reach
- 19:22out and grab what I have given you.
- 19:26And you have not because you ask not, and if your feet are growing weary,
- 19:30you need to ask for his strength.
- 19:33And if your face is growing weary, you need to turn your eyes upon Jesus.
- 19:42Look full in his wonderful face, and the things of earth will grow strangely
- 19:48dim in the light of his glory and grace.
- 19:53He said in John chapter 14, verse 1, let not your heart be troubled.
- 19:59In Philippians chapter 4, verses 6 and 7, he said, be careful for nothing,
- 20:05but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving,
- 20:09let your requests be made known unto God.
- 20:11And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts
- 20:20and minds through Christ Jesus.
- 20:23Oh, let not your heart be troubled.
- 20:26Oh, how he loves you.
- 20:29Oh, how he loves me. And oh, how I love Jesus.
- 20:34Oh, come on, friends, he said, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known unto God.
- 20:43Let not your heart be troubled. In Hebrews chapter 4, he said,
- 20:48come boldly to the throne of God.
- 20:50You're not as a person without hope because your hope is in Jesus Christ.
- 20:56Let not your heart be troubled. Come to him in prayer this very moment.
- 21:02Lay at his feet, all that hurts your heart, knowing that he's already there
- 21:09and that he bought the price because he said he would keep you in perfect peace,
- 21:16whose mind is stayed or focused on thee, because he trusteth in thee.
