Transcript
- 0:00I'm excited about it, love the FA Cup, I don't know about you, love the FA Cup, remember
- 0:24watching it as a kid growing up, waking up downstairs, 9 o'clock in the morning, turn the
- 0:30tele on and it was already on 9 o'clock in the morning.
- 0:33Did you know about it, didn't they actually?
- 0:35Yeah, it's brilliant, just, you know, they'd be doing quizzes, they'd have fans from
- 0:40either team, eventually culminating in the, they'd be on the bus, they'd be on one of the
- 0:45team's buses on the way to the ground, they'd play the FA Cup final song that they'd recorded
- 0:50earlier in the week that'd go off, I used to, I used to absolutely love it, I think maybe
- 0:56because as well, I, this, this time for me, of my real sort of first experiences of football,
- 1:05well what I can remember back when you said, in your memory bags, what happened when
- 1:09the English clubs were in Europe, so this was the sort of pinnacle of every season, this
- 1:14was what every season built towards, and as a kid who loved football it was so exciting.
- 1:19It doesn't really feel like that anymore, no, it doesn't, in terms of that, obviously
- 1:23we still love the FA Cup, especially in the UK, but it's not made as big of a deal as
- 1:28what it may be used to be 20, 30 years ago.
- 1:30Champions League football changed all that, and the money that goes into it, the ease
- 1:34at which we can see every game on the tally, so people will be able to tune in and watch,
- 1:41you know, the semi-final we've just seen, you know, by a Munich PS, PSG, we can also tune
- 1:47in and watch that, whereas it was hard, a lot harder to have access to that kind of game
- 1:52back in, you know, go back 30 years.
- 1:54I was just, I've always been able to watch the game, watch whichever game on my age, not
- 1:58sure if I used to, showing it, showing it, as he making me feel old there, as he trying
- 2:03to make himself feel, he's not doing it to me, he knows better than that.
- 2:05Yeah, yeah, not just that.
- 2:06You've grown up in the age of access for everything, and all sorts of growing up, you've probably
- 2:13never known what was like not to have a phone.
- 2:15Yep, you know what I mean, where you had to literally go knock, knock for your friends,
- 2:18knock on the front door, and I still did that though, I still had to knock on.
- 2:22Oh, oh good, yeah, you're not too old.
- 2:24We were saying the other week, like, it's all my else, yeah, I was in that, like, era
- 2:28of, like, play house, I reckon I was like the last era.
- 2:30Jumpers for goalposts.
- 2:31Knock on though, did you call it knock on, or knock for?
- 2:33Yeah, or knock for me mate.
- 2:35Knock on.
- 2:36I was knocking for you, or knock for you, or knock on.
- 2:40No, I'm not knocking for you, or knock on.
- 2:42No, I'm not knocking on.
- 2:43I'm not knocking on.
- 2:44How often did you play Fuzzy when you were kid?
- 2:46Every single day, yeah.
- 2:47Every wasn't in school's playing Fuzzy.
- 2:49Well, when we played Fuzzy when we were in school break time, didn't it say, any time
- 2:53to be gone, we were kicking a bone, if we were kicking a bone, we were taking the
- 2:55Mickey out of each other.
- 2:56Yeah.
- 2:57And for me, if it wasn't doing either of them, I was having a fight.
- 3:01Sometimes the both of the saves, I mean, that's happened.
- 3:06That I was having the knock on the live out there.
- 3:10So yeah, I mean, as he's memories for the FA Cup and all that stuff, as he's immersed
- 3:16in football, and it's from a, it's from a young age all the way through his adulthood,
- 3:20even to now, is it's just engrained in his life.
- 3:24Obviously for me, it's a little bit different, even though I love football, and it's me
- 3:26passion and it's what I do, what I love where I go every weekend.
- 3:31I wasn't engrained in the cup that much because I'm just sick of getting me out.
- 3:35I'm not knocking on.
- 3:36Yeah, it's fit.
- 3:37I've just had enough of it.
- 3:39I've lost the passion for the FA Cup, I really have, which I'm sad to say that I have.
- 3:44Well, now you've never had it back then, sort of, you've slowly lost the past after 1995.
- 3:49It just went.
- 3:50I wouldn't say it after neither.
- 3:52I mean, that day at Wembley, the cup final, beating United Way, we did against all the
- 3:58odds, dogs aboard that year.
- 4:00It was good to get to go.
- 4:01It's great, it's great to go, but it's great to, you know, reminisce about it, but ever since
- 4:07then, it's just after being laughed at by them, maybe you're the problem, maybe we just
- 4:11can't take you anywhere to follow the team.
- 4:13Maybe that's what it is.
- 4:14Maybe that's what it is.
- 4:15I mean, that being down your, I was at the Cup Final when King scored that goal in the
- 4:19first second.
- 4:20But we lost that.
- 4:21I know, but that's what I'm saying.
- 4:24I don't know.
- 4:25I just feel like we don't, we don't really go for the cups anymore.
- 4:30Do you understand why I'm saying that?
- 4:33Maybe it feels like that.
- 4:35There was definitely a spell in the late, late 90s, early 2000s, where Premier League survival
- 4:47was a lot more important.
- 4:49And yes, maybe we didn't as a team, I think before I got it.
- 4:53I think even still the first two seasons that I was playing, I think there was still concern
- 4:58about not being in the FA Cup or it's not the end of the world, not being in the FA Cup
- 5:05because we've got to make sure we stay in the Premier League, but as you progress and
- 5:10you start to attack it, to start going for it every single year, you start to realise
- 5:15you've probably only got, so I got in the first team properly at 23.
- 5:20As a first team player, you've probably only got about seven or eight attempts ever
- 5:26as a player to win the FA Cup.
- 5:27Ten of you have fortunate, 15 of you have an amazing life to look at your body.
- 5:3220 of you got a body.
- 5:34Well, James Milner, yeah.
- 5:37But you've probably not got many realistic opportunities.
- 5:40And the sooner you realise that as a player, the better because you've got to go and
- 5:43try and seize it with both hands.
- 5:46You've got to take it as it is.
- 5:48And that's what I love about, let's say Pep Guardiol in a minute because he's come into
- 5:52the country.
- 5:53He's been here a long time now, but right from the first, you know, right from his very
- 5:58first season, he didn't dismiss winning any, any silverware, I thought he didn't think
- 6:03Carabao Cup wasn't good enough.
- 6:04He didn't think the FA Cup was not good enough.
- 6:06He showed that actually every single year we want to be left in a trophy.
- 6:10It doesn't matter whether it's, or it does matter, but they would go for the Champions League
- 6:13in the league, but our domestic cups are still trying to stick to it.
- 6:16I was always just trying to stick to it.
- 6:17City fans love him for that.
- 6:18I was always disgusting, I remember that year that when you're nice I pulled out of it.
- 6:21The club well club.
- 6:22Yeah, I was always, I was, I was always disgusted at that, but, you know, that's really bad.
- 6:28I would never want to, but I'm not going to lie.
- 6:31I just, about me, I broke too many times, I've just, I've had enough, like I'd say,
- 6:36another, what was your first memory then of the FA Cup, your first memory?
- 6:43I was, I was, I went to all of the buildup games in the 95.
- 6:48So I don't remember who exactly we were, remember Dave Watson scored in the head in one
- 6:52of the rounds at the club at the street end.
- 6:54We beat Derby in the third round, however he scored the other against that round.
- 6:57We beat Norwich 1-0, we beat Norwich 4-5, or we do castle 1-0, the quarter is 7-0.
- 7:05I think it was, I think it was 6 or 7 quid to get in, but I crossed the same step.
- 7:11So I was at most of them games, there was, yeah, that year we won it.
- 7:17I've been to so many, I've, I've, another, I'm not sure if it was the FA Cup or the, the,
- 7:22the league cup, the Dan Gosling goal.
- 7:25That was the FA Cup, that was, I think the fourth round, but it was definitely the year
- 7:31we got to the Cup Final in 0-9, because I scored, when we beat Marcus Field 1-0 in the
- 7:37third round, which had a funny story with it.
- 7:40And then, and then yeah, we beat Liverpool, Villa, Middlesbrough, Man United, like we played,
- 7:47apart from Marcus Field, we played some sort of games to get ahead of us.
- 7:51I think the euphoria and the, the status of the cup still remains, what Marcus Field
- 7:57on this year, you know, top and off beating the champion to do the holders of the, in
- 8:01Palace, didn't he?
- 8:02I think it was Palace of the Beat, it was, the hot and the, they're the holder of the
- 8:05holder.
- 8:06So, that, that, the fairytale stuff is still there.
- 8:11I just feel it from my personal perspective, I'm just sick of it.
- 8:14I've just, I take the kids, I mean, was it the FA Cup when we went to, I took the kids
- 8:19so I'm afraid, and said to our quarry, right, listen to that, we'll go on this one.
- 8:22I said, because it's, we're going to finally topple them, and I'm veiled, and they put the
- 8:25kids out.
- 8:26And they don't, and I just, and I think it was one case of John Scott, the goal in, and
- 8:30I'm just like, if we're not going to do it tonight, we're, I'm never going to do it.
- 8:34And it made me and I'll call you saying, though, I even have a pint of half time, you
- 8:39know what I mean?
- 8:40That's going to be the one.
- 8:41Yeah.
- 8:42And we just lost.
- 8:43So, you can't, you can't separate your heartbreak with everything from the FA Cup in
- 8:48general.
- 8:49No.
- 8:50It's all just packaged in one.
- 8:51Yeah, it just comes, it's just all rolled into one.
- 8:52Even that 95, the, the underdogs, and I said the dogs are what, it was brilliant and
- 8:56one occasion, but one night, I've had 20 cents, 30 cents, and it's nine, nine months
- 9:03old, about, that 1995, I'm not doing that with a lot of things.
- 9:07Thanks.
- 9:08Well, I've obviously seen nothing, actually, like not one.
- 9:13I say this to, so my eldest brother, our Craig, who got me support in heaven, he's
- 9:18the reason I suppose.
- 9:19Me, I felt it was a cup of ice, me mum, it's kind of a blue book, me mum's mum, me
- 9:24Nan who's no longer with us, me beautiful Nan, well, she was a staunch blue.
- 9:29She was a proper blue, one of the Iron Man's who was going in and stuff like that, yeah.
- 9:36Loves it, she was brilliant, a little frosty top on her, going in and giving it the big
- 9:40and butter, and our Craig took me, but I've just got too many years of our break with
- 9:45her, so I just, I want me kids to see something like, weird, weird, weird generation, I'm not
- 9:51fake.
- 9:52I know what I was, but weird generation of days, positive thinking, the mind's got to manifest
- 9:55the mind.
- 9:56I know why I'm up and ideas, but I know all these things, my eldest brother was 10 years
- 10:01old, me and I know why he supports Evan because he was around in that 85, you know, he was
- 10:06going on the match in VD and Dandy Grey and all that, you know, Linnacher was around,
- 10:11all these players around this area, Evan winning leagues, Evan winning cups, Evan winning
- 10:16Europe and we were flying, I know why he supports them, I know my kids look at me sometimes
- 10:21think that, what have you done to us, why?
- 10:22Yeah, I've told him, my kids say that to me all the time, it's character building, that's
- 10:26what I'm talking about.
- 10:27I mean, a passer-off, it's okay, it's character building, I'm not going to lie, it really
- 10:29is, but I just want to tell you, and I just think of the party we're going to have,
- 10:33even when it happens, even when it happens, it's going to mean it will, the light will be
- 10:37a party, I will never come down from it, and I just feel, it's worth it, it will come
- 10:42out of the way.
- 10:43I think we're going to win the cup within the next five years.
- 10:46Okay.
- 10:47How's that?
- 10:48Is that bold, still to say three?
- 10:51If any, I just want, I think five, two, I'd like to go with three.
- 10:55I just want to see David Moise leave and let's see, positive the club.
- 10:59No, pal, pal, let's just do it.
- 11:02Look, teams have done it.
- 11:03I'll tell you now, if we get into Europe, he'll win the European one.
- 11:06I'm telling you, if Evan can get European football, I promise you, he'll win that tournament
- 11:10because he knows how to do it, he's got it in the locker, he's done it before and he
- 11:14can do it again.
- 11:15I'll tell you, he will have a better squad than Evan, than the other Western.
- 11:19If you look at, if you look at the semi-finals of Europa League, the conference league, Palace
- 11:283-1 up up to the first, you know, they were, I think, in fact, we're recording this before
- 11:33that, aren't we?
- 11:34Well, Palace, probably in the final, we've got Villa or Forest in the final.
- 11:40We've definitely got a team from the Premier League in each final.
- 11:46Arsenal?
- 11:47I mean, you're looking at, it is, it is possible for us to feel like it's strong in Europe
- 11:55and it knows how to start handling these games, sati, Wednesday, Thursday, Sunday or
- 12:00all whatever it is, but I don't think that takes anything away from the FA Cup.
- 12:05I still think, traditionally, everybody, maybe it's a generational thing.
- 12:10Maybe it's people who are, who are our age, who have not been a scot to you.
- 12:15Sorry, they're, they're just, they're not, they're just nostalgic about the FA Cup.
- 12:20I look and wonder whether my kids are that bothered because if Evan were in that 100% they
- 12:26would be.
- 12:27There's going to be a big game.
- 12:28They'd sit down and watch the FA Cup, but when I was a kid, and I'm moving on from
- 12:32being a young kid when I was watching it to 16-17, and my birthday is in and around FA Cup
- 12:38final every, every single year.
- 12:41So we were just, I used to have a big party, people around to our, our, our, our homie
- 12:45mum's house back then, and everything was centered around the FA Cup.
- 12:48We'd do a sweep for first goal scorer, we'd do a sweep for goal scored, we'd do, you
- 12:53know, quiz, whatever it might be, and then drink until, you know, it's, so you can't
- 12:58anymore.
- 12:59Yeah, I mean, I was, yeah, I was 12 at the time.
- 13:02Season Dollar Hall, by the time he was 14.
- 13:05You just, thank you so much.
- 13:09It's not really.
- 13:10I'm just taking the miracle there.
- 13:11Those who don't get me.
- 13:12Well, part of the big day, the big occasion on the day, it was a big day that, at the
- 13:17start, the everyone looked, it's pictures come out, what day's the FA Cup last year?
- 13:21That means that's the day we'll be having the, the big end of season party and hope
- 13:25to, hope to, these are the, my, my kids now, I don't know if, unless our team are in
- 13:30the final.
- 13:31I don't know if they'll sit down and watch it because there's too much thought available
- 13:34to them now.
- 13:35And it's all available at the end of a finger.
- 13:38Everything's iPads, everything's, everything's streamed, everything's, everything's available
- 13:42at the touch of a button and, and we didn't have it then and I think a part of me, that
- 13:47was one of the things.
- 13:48Yes, it points me now that the, the kids don't have that like, like, with me, we're talking
- 13:52just before we went live on air about knocking for your mates.
- 13:55Mm-hmm.
- 13:56Well, almost last time you had a knock at your door is you in.
- 13:58Yeah.
- 13:59Like, you know, when we were, like, have you got a house phone now?
- 14:02Yeah.
- 14:03No.
- 14:04No, don't, don't.
- 14:05Don't have a house phone.
- 14:06It's the world we live in now.
- 14:07And I have to actually go find, like, when the mates are coming and they'll pick them
- 14:11up either in a car or they've made something before they drove, they'd wait outside on
- 14:14the end of the day.
- 14:15And she goes, they've phone up, you're like, like, come say hello.
- 14:17Yeah.
- 14:18You know, like, I've to actually come, because I want to get to know all the kids' friends
- 14:22because one of the best things that happened is with these, my moment I'd know all of my
- 14:26friends brilliantly because they got to know them all the time in social events.
- 14:31So, these are the kind of relationships you get from having an FA Cup party and you
- 14:36get from having these parties.
- 14:37Yeah.
- 14:38It was now I'm having to, you know, show me kids' mates to come in and actually introduce
- 14:42themselves to because I'm not getting to interact with them or it's a star doll, that's
- 14:47a proper family.
- 14:48And then, you know, I'm fortunate that every kid grows up putting that kind of atmosphere
- 14:52in that environment, which, as he's very lucky that he did, you know, fantastic parents,
- 14:56brothers and sisters and stuff like that, I grew up.
- 15:01My age was the go-to age when I was when I was younger, so I've got the same 10 mates
- 15:05of me on school with him lost, and that's the only group I've seen for this one.
- 15:0810?
- 15:09You've not got 10.
- 15:10No, I haven't.
- 15:11I mean, I've got to have a suit with really close friends and I've got to vote 10 associates.
- 15:15New Cup, I'd know you as I, which ones are the associates, but now, I get it.
- 15:20What are you saying?
- 15:21You know, they're not going to be a mates and, you know, they're all small rings and I
- 15:24wonder who it is.
- 15:25And you're in, are we meeting here?
- 15:26Are we going there?
- 15:27The kids are missing out so much on that these days.
- 15:29Yeah.
- 15:30They really, really are, but nostalgia and moments like that and the FA Cup plays a big part
- 15:34in them, nostalgic moments when you look back.
- 15:37Did you have a favourite FA Cup party?
- 15:39Was it like a game that you were watching and then a great game or a team you sported
- 15:43in?
- 15:44Certainly wasn't a winning game.
- 15:45I'll tell you that much.
- 15:47I remember a few.
- 15:51There was a party when I was, I reckon about, I reckon about 20, maybe.
- 15:57In fact, yeah, it's got a bit of a story to this one.
- 16:01So when we were 20 at this party, all my friends came round and it was one o'clock in
- 16:08the afternoon.
- 16:09The game was kicking off at three or four at that time so it might have even been 12 and
- 16:13we were all in the garden and those young kids and 20-year-olds, you know, you start doing
- 16:18stupid things and we all started, we mum had this big top of where I think for spaghetti
- 16:23back then, you know, to put it in and we were passing that round of group all poor and
- 16:28drinks, you know, a bit of our own drink into it and doing like, you know, when it eventually
- 16:33stopped on that person, there was chicken wings in it, there was ribs, there was vodka, there
- 16:40was whiskey, there was all sorts of it, it stopped on one of my mates and he had to eat
- 16:45the chicken wings, the ribs, drink the drink and he had to get his misses to pick him up
- 16:50about 45 minutes later because he couldn't make it and then later that night someone brought
- 16:56water balloons around as a present for me and as we were all sort of sat outside in the
- 17:02garden, water balloons were hazing down everywhere.
- 17:06This is all the one party, what's the, what's the, what's the F big cup?
- 17:09I can't quite remember it, what's that, I'm not surprised, you can't remember to be honest,
- 17:14I remember that particular year but by the end of the night someone suggested it be good
- 17:19to cut our hair so we all ended up with a skinhead then it became, the razor came out so
- 17:26we all got our heads, what, what, what, what, what, got big, oh my god, we all got our heads
- 17:29big at the end of the night, I think I'm going to kill me if I went to a party,
- 17:34came on my mind, it was a, it was a really really good day, so you killed your style?
- 17:40Well I woke up the next morning and so it was probably only, probably only about three or
- 17:45four days later, we were on the pitch at Gooderson, getting presented with the Premier League 2,
- 17:52you know the reserve Premier League back then and if you look at the pitch you got
- 17:57and the old and taffold and the trophy up and you've got me and two other lads who were on
- 18:02this pitch with absolutely no hair, I looked like Cisco because I had a bit of a tang,
- 18:07and because I did take the thing off the top made me head was, Skype was white
- 18:11and I'm on this reserve pitcher forever with three, I think two or three I was looking
- 18:17and like an absolute embassy, look on like Lee Carlsley's love child, yeah, I'll take that,
- 18:22what's your favourite FA Cup memory personally when you were playing?
- 18:31I'd love to say, I'd love to say an FA Cup final that you know we got to lift the trophy up,
- 18:37but the best feeling I had in the FA Cup was when we won the penalties,
- 18:41semi, in the semi final against Manchester United and it was an anti-climax really of
- 18:46and being completely honest because I personally don't think the semifinals should be at Wembley.
- 18:51Made up, you said that so. No, that might have changed for this generation of players who just
- 18:56think that's what it is, but that's not how we grew up, there was always a neutral venue,
- 19:01wasn't there? Villa Park or Trafford City Library, you know wherever it might be dotted around
- 19:06the country, so mentally when we got to that big moment we played this big game which was the
- 19:13semi-finable, it was a huge knockout game at Wembley, to me that sort of felt a bit like the final
- 19:18because I'd always imagined myself getting into Wembley playing in the final, playing a team like
- 19:25that and then winning, so we did celebrate it and you know it felt like we sort of should have
- 19:32been parading the trophy round after that at the end of that game, but you didn't, you just
- 19:36need to come back and do it again, it was a strange feeling and I put that down to the fact that
- 19:41I grew up watching FA cups in neutral venues and then to have got to a semi-final at Wembley,
- 19:50it felt like, mentally I think it was, had that, had that have been on a neutral venue,
- 19:54do you think usually they just went right, lad's done, job done, off we went, we wouldn't have
- 19:57been, there would have been no celebrations, obviously you'd gone clap the fan, but there
- 20:00wouldn't have been a celebration like he was after that game. No, I think there would have been
- 20:03a celebration, I really do think there would have been a good celebration in the same elk as
- 20:09we celebrated that, but the different environment, the different venue would have made you realise
- 20:14that it was a step, rather than, I just mentally felt like we've just celebrated
- 20:21out of ridiculously at Wembley, you sort of feel like you've, you know, you feel like you should
- 20:28take a trophy on for that and just feel strange, it's a strange sort of feeling, because
- 20:31everything hadn't really had that level of success in that time either, you know, is that,
- 20:35does that make it feel a bit more? We got to a semi final of the year before
- 20:38in the carabiner, I wasn't called that back then, we'd lost over two legs to Chelsea and they were
- 20:45our nemesis at that point, you know, they had all of their ridiculous players,
- 20:51Joe Colbs, God, I think it's a good reason to beat us one, no, in the second leg,
- 20:57but yeah, we kind of remember your question now, what was your question?
- 21:01We hadn't been to Wembley, I don't think since 1995, it did sort of feel
- 21:13felt a bit strange after that, we kind of made it over the next eight years or so, we got to
- 21:19Wembley two or three times, we were getting to the semi finals of the other cup as well,
- 21:24we were getting close, we were getting, we were getting better, but couldn't quite get over the
- 21:29line. See how you feel about the cup and how you resonate with it in the past and the history
- 21:33through it, does that cross on because it's such a global, the FA Cup is global, the whole world
- 21:37knows what the FA Cup, did it resonate that way with the foreign lads? Yeah, or did it just like
- 21:45this another game we don't even get it? I would say the majority of players that came from overseas
- 21:53really understood the FA Cup, there was one or two that definitely didn't want to play in the
- 21:58early rounds because they didn't, you know, they might be playing against a Makas field just because
- 22:04we brought that team up and they weren't always, they weren't always mentally into playing in those
- 22:11games, I don't know if they felt they were better, there were some players that used to get injured
- 22:14all the time for them games or try and sit them out, so yeah, Joey, Joey, I'll bow with the
- 22:19words for it, Joseph Yobo, we just have to feel tight, or something, or be happy that he wasn't
- 22:26playing, you know, in those early rounds, always wanted to play in the bigger game, and always
- 22:30there as we got further on, or say it was, you know, man united in the third round you play,
- 22:35but didn't always fancy playing in the other games in that way, and I, but I loved,
- 22:41all of them, I just loved going to... People speak about Duncan like that,
- 22:44Joey's around for the big game, Joey's wanted to play in the big game for the lesser games,
- 22:49it's hard, you know what I mean? I'm not saying anything about Duncan.
- 22:52Yeah, yeah, not what you do, it's what people say. I'm just telling you, he's listed to this
- 22:56thing, I didn't say anything. Duncan's my mate, and I love Duncan, I'm a
- 23:00biggest fan, but that's what they always, that was what fans used to win, we want him in,
- 23:04against Sunderland, or you want him to play against this game, where it was, when it was
- 23:08united, Duncan had limped on the pitch. It was Liverpool, Duncan's limped on the pitch.
- 23:13Just had a... Duncan had a natural way of being able to get more out of himself
- 23:19in the bigger games, whether that was focus, anger, determination. If you played in other games
- 23:24and someone had riled him up, in the way you talk about Irling Harland at the minute,
- 23:28if you're playing in other games, if someone stood on his Achilles or riled him up and he was like,
- 23:32well, you want a bit, then you'd get more out of him, out of him in them senses,
- 23:36but I would never say he didn't try hard in all the games. I think he tried, but it's actually
- 23:41being. I also think as well, when he was playing against some of the better defenders,
- 23:44they were probably not used to the physicality that he could bring, whereas the lesser so-called
- 23:49defenders, they probably like the ball. The number of appearances he actually has for the time
- 23:55that he's spent at Everton is, he's our cult hero, he's everyone's hero, but the actual
- 24:01appearances that each got is not as many as others, but he has that cult hero status,
- 24:08because he gets us, he's one of us, but yeah, that's what I just, it's the other goals and the
- 24:12big moments, didn't he? Yeah. Massive moments, you know, the United and the Wednesday night,
- 24:16the other, it comes to mind, the Liverpool games, he's always terrorizing defenders,
- 24:21you just, I don't know, is it playing that role? Is it physically so damaging that he just can't
- 24:27play enough games? He is injured, he feels the knock because he is getting all the play week.
- 24:32I think his style of game was explosive in every way, so whether he's jumping or he's fighting
- 24:39or everything is very short, you know, half a second, just literally everything his body can
- 24:46give him in these half a second moments. So he was going to be susceptible to injuries in an
- 24:52explosive manner. I think like I'd always say myself, I think he's from a generation that
- 24:59probably look back and think myself included, probably could have looked after ourselves a little
- 25:04bit better there, probably could have, you see the generations as developed, I'm not just talking
- 25:10about not going out drinking of a weekend or not this, I'm talking about pre-hab and you're
- 25:15working before and yoga and all of this kind of stuff that actually probably helps
- 25:20like never getting into shape and playing longer term, that certainly would have gone against him,
- 25:26but he had some, he had some big injuries. And you got that scar on his car,
- 25:31and you got that like sort of Lewis Hacking who I thought was so talented. I mean,
- 25:37wow, what a footballer he was, I mean, he just knew where the net was, he could do everything,
- 25:41but it's like he had to be a hundred percent to be on the pitch, he had to not be feeling a single
- 25:46thing, I used to see him in training and I'd see him come in the dressing room afterwards and
- 25:50I'd be chatting with him and he'd, I'd feel less a little bit and I'd feel like where does
- 25:54he'd be feeling every single thing possible and it's, it knows my reactions to go on, that's not a
- 25:59knock, that's just, every player's difference, it's like that in your storage at Liverpool,
- 26:02and I think I was probably fully fit with nothing to win your bone about, about 10 times in
- 26:09my whole career. And I'd argue there are those 10 times seven or eight of them were my worst games.
- 26:16Honestly, it's weird because you're now just, you know, going over things too much in your
- 26:20head or you might be prepared too much or whatever it might be, or as sometimes you need to be
- 26:25sort of concentrating to nest, nest me uncle through this, they'll get it and then you get
- 26:29into the game, you forget about that and you've not, you've not overthought anything and you're
- 26:33going sometimes, it's a mere inboxion, it's a mere inboxion, is it? Yeah, every fight is injured
- 26:39and you get in the ring, every single fight. I'm not surprised because the amount of
- 26:43camera I've just talked about, big dunk, took the amount of explosive sort of movements you have
- 26:48to do, it doesn't surprise me that, for footballers, I just feel, it's, it's difficult, like it is,
- 26:58it's so, you know, as Luis Arthmi has always been the one that I thought, wow, just I thought,
- 27:02what a footballer. He's been at United, you know, he's one thing he's done that and I used to
- 27:06always be thinking every week, if he's on the pitch this week, we've really got a chance against
- 27:10anyone but it was just so little, he was on the pitch for us. Talking about that final, he scores
- 27:14in the first minute. Yeah, talks about that though. Brilliant build up. Yeah, looked forward to it,
- 27:24I remember feeling quite nervous going into it. Was you nervous for every derby?
- 27:39A little bit but excited as well. So, I did get more nervous for the FA Cup, I think, for another
- 27:47game of the derby, it's got the feel of it could be a one-off thing for you and you, you know,
- 27:53history could be written completely different off that one game and I knew the size of the game.
- 27:59So, I was a bit nervous in the morning. What did the nerves do to you? Did you feel like you made
- 28:05your sharp or did you feel like you drained a little bit of energy out here? Drain a little bit of
- 28:08energy. Oh, over the whole career. No, over the course of your career, I'd say, too many nerves
- 28:14would take a bit of your energy from you, rather than, but there is, I don't think you should ever
- 28:20go into a game without some sort of bottom line. It's an excitement and you know, it should just
- 28:26feel normal or not unless it should, you know, you've got a purpose, you know, you've got,
- 28:31you're a bit excited about to go out and achieve or go out and win or you're looking forward
- 28:35to the game because that's fun. That's perfect feeling. That's fun, I can't. I think it's mad that
- 28:40you do it, sadly choose, sadly wins, the every week and I just feel, how are you nervous?
- 28:44I'll say you're nervous, but I'll tell you this, I get more nervous now as a fan than I do
- 28:48where I've played. Okay, definitely, yeah. Way more nervous now as a fan. I'm happy you've
- 28:53shot that. You can't affect the game now. When you were playing, you knew, right, I know I'm
- 28:58feeling nervous, but I know where I'm going to go. So the morning of that game, yeah, a little bit
- 29:03more nervous than usual, but it just went for a walk around the around the hotel,
- 29:07listening to music, just chilling out. It went, it went quite well, but the issue was how hot it
- 29:12was. I think it was the hottest day of the year. It was roast and that day. And I do not operate
- 29:17well in the heat. I really don't, everybody just doesn't handle it well, but in my eyes,
- 29:22there was a game we played at home to Newcastle, ended the season roughly around about 2008,
- 29:29and I intend something like that. And it was red hot in the first half and I felt like I couldn't
- 29:36breathe. I was struggling. I think we might have even been getting beat one, they'll buy Newcastle
- 29:41sometime. I'm wrong with the way the score went, but this was the game and then we went in at half
- 29:45time and during half time at Thunder and Lightning. And we came back out and it was 10 degrees cooler.
- 29:50Suddenly everything felt dead easy. I was running around. I think I was involved in two of the three
- 29:54goals and we won three, one and it felt so that's just the difference in in a half of football.
- 29:59That was the second half of felt better because it was so we get to the game. Actually,
- 30:03Cole, I'm up against to have talked told you before is my toughest ever opponent. I'm playing
- 30:08against him in million degree heat. And then they also put the fires on to sort of, well,
- 30:14going on to the bit. I was like, let's just set them on fire as well.
- 30:19So and then the best 25 seconds was it the best 25 seconds that Wembley, because I hadn't touched
- 30:27the ball by the time we scored. So I really influenced the game and then yeah, it just felt a little bit.
- 30:34Do you want me to say you do something nervous and then we score so early. What did that do to you
- 30:38and there's then did it settle it or did you think oh, we've got a task on our hands or
- 30:43well, it felt good. It's if you want to start with scored in that moment.
- 30:49Didn't towards we I knew we just knew. We then realized the size of the task and how long we're
- 30:54now going to you know, probably be defending for it kicked them into life. But yeah,
- 30:59that just meant that actually Cole then and when played left wing, which meant I played
- 31:03yeah, it's right backs week. Do you know when you say I know everyone speaks so highly of
- 31:07them and you said he said it's obvious the point that you played against. What is it that
- 31:12because I don't have great memories of him being so prolific going forward. I have memories of him.
- 31:19No one was beating him. You couldn't beat him. You just couldn't get past them all around him
- 31:23even Ronaldo couldn't get past them all around him. He just dominated. You know what I mean,
- 31:28he just he just like he held you in your place, but I don't remember him getting
- 31:31in for them bang and agree. I know he did. He scored some goals. Yeah, he did. He played for
- 31:34Arsenal and Chelsea, you know, showed that he was prepared to make that move as well to play
- 31:40and carry on and win things. He was involved in two of the best teams the Premier League's ever seen.
- 31:45He was quick, sharp, intelligent, could jump, enjoyed the game, could run all day. He just had
- 31:51a he just had a little bit of good luck on his way. I hope you have a 12 inch piece as well
- 31:57and I want to just top it all off. So it was a tough day for me anyway. Yeah, yeah. What
- 32:04went wrong in the game then after that? So we obviously score early and then they, but what minute
- 32:09of the game is it? 20? 20? When they scored to equalise. Yeah. I can't remember the minute. Do
- 32:14you know what? I've never been able to watch it back. Oh really? No, I've never seen it. I've
- 32:18never seen a minute of it back. So I'm going off first memory. Meluda at first I think. Yeah,
- 32:24boss. And then I did Meluda put the cross in. I think Meluda got the cross in. It's a
- 32:29jogber. It was a jogber who scored the goal. I think so, yeah. Off that left-hand side then
- 32:34trying to think of it. I was on the left-hand side of the pitch. So I was up the end where
- 32:40King scored and I was on that, but something sounded like it was a jogber running away. Yeah,
- 32:45and that's everything. So I've just turned away and discussed and I don't even remember who
- 32:50properly scored it. Look, we needed to, we needed to have our best players and we needed to be able
- 32:57to outweigh them because of the quality that they were. It was hard to outweigh because of the heat
- 33:04and we were missing Jags, Arthetta. Big misses. Jags and Victor was an achievement. It was out for
- 33:12the game. All injuries. I think the Jaggers already out. If we still had them at that point. So we
- 33:20were, we were missing some big players and because you don't ask what you know when you go into a
- 33:27game like that and you look at the up. Obviously, listen, you know, they've got better quality. They've
- 33:31spent a fortune. I'm going to branch literally buying everyone up at the leagues, don't and stuff
- 33:35like that. You go into a game that you're okay. Listen, they've got a top quality players and they've
- 33:41got a brilliant squad and you go, we can't underneath these to have an off day.
- 33:48Depends how you're looking at that. For opposition teams to have an off day, you kind of have to
- 33:55fall into that issue. Yeah, you have to fall into that issue. And you go all the way there, you just
- 33:58say, no, and don't do anything particular in the opposition, just play badly. You've got to
- 34:02tactically do something. You go out on your kick triangle and part, you get under the skin or you
- 34:07you send you every team as that little horror don't you? And you want that little horror in your team,
- 34:12you know, we've seen none the other side that says you die at the least. But we,
- 34:18I struggled to think of it and play, we've had those little horror, you know, little rap bag,
- 34:22who just kicks people in and knows people, but he doesn't get sense of it. You don't need to get
- 34:25sense of it. You just have a little horror who's had everything and then he's always the one
- 34:29of the referees riffing the game and stuff like that. I did the, I did the referee in part.
- 34:35We had people like Tim Cale was good at that, you know, kicking people off the ball and knowing
- 34:40people and annoying people and getting underpins. Yeah, he was, he was not just a good player, he was,
- 34:45he was good at that. He was in a good way. Yeah, he was good at that, he was good at that side of it
- 34:50and he liked it. He liked to take the back. Yeah. Yeah, we, who did you play against those who
- 34:57you found was that person like who was the way to give you a pinch, give you a little kick,
- 35:01say things in your ear. What played on that ear? Must have been one, it was a horror.
- 35:06Oh, I can't think of the top of my head. Did you ever do a pinch thing, he's,
- 35:10he's horrible in. I hate him. I don't like him at all. No, no, don't like him.
- 35:15No, but I'm nobody's day to age. I respect it on the pitch. No, I respect the day to age.
- 35:19Who's set about you to get like to, no, what was coming after me? Of course, yeah, but
- 35:24you don't play that many games in the Premier League and go every, he was always horrible in,
- 35:30like he was, he might not have been just to you, but you see how he is to others.
- 35:33So who was, who was the Tim's, who you seen Tim do that for us, you're saying Tim used to pinch
- 35:39them by, kick them to little nasty, who was the one who you seen, maybe not just, maybe not to you,
- 35:44what you seen doing it every time you played against them or you was on a pitch with him.
- 35:47It's a good one to annoy people on purpose and trying to, Bellamy was, was good at that,
- 35:53I can imagine that. In a good way. Yeah, good on him.
- 36:00Yeah, he wants to tell me on the pitch that, he was like, what was your manager like?
- 36:07We were down playing, I think I'm sure it was West Ham. I was like, yeah, he sounded, he was like,
- 36:10I think, I spoke to me, I was thinking about coming and speaking to you, but he looks like
- 36:14a right bell in, so I'm not going to say it to you and I was thinking, he's all right, you know,
- 36:18he's like, no, no, I'm going to leave that one mate and I'm like, oh, no, I'm not that bothered
- 36:24there. I just think every play, every team you need, you want that little order.
- 36:30That little order, because I think, the first thing I always think of is swadders,
- 36:34another name I think I'll type, yeah, it's just, is a Diego Costa. Play as you do at Nasty.
- 36:40SCM was a little bit nasty on the road. That's shocked, because twice, I was with him,
- 36:44so I didn't seem like a lovely fellow. Yeah, he's looking to mess with you, is he?
- 36:47There's a difference between being, how you are on and off the pitch and that would,
- 36:51that's class is off the pitch in terms of, you know, not really what's around it to win the game.
- 36:57He would, yeah, he'd stand on me toes and done me twice in tackles, but again, I don't,
- 37:04I don't see this as a bad thing. I see this as part of the game and I've got a lot of respect.
- 37:08I wish I would have could have done it more myself, because it's,
- 37:13it's important to try and throw the opposition off in that way. Of course.
- 37:16And try and win anywhere you can. Every, I just think every team should, I want that little fellow
- 37:21who just annoys me. That's one of the reasons why, well, you look at Chelsea's squad back then,
- 37:26don't want to compare them to now, it's night and day, but you look at why they were winning FA Cup's
- 37:32near enough every single year. What did Chelsea want it in? Obviously, oh no, with those, I think they
- 37:37might have won it a lot. They've said they got to the final and beat Liverpool Cup 2012.
- 37:41Chelsea were going to do it right because they had people that do all that nasty out of
- 37:46work, as well as having the ridiculous talents on top. And that was, and then you forget about
- 37:50the most important thing, the man on the sideline, that what he demands from you, chosen with
- 37:55Emil is the master of it all, because he wants, he's at, yeah, he's at the players, he's at the
- 38:01players on the other team, he's at the other manager, he's at the referee, he's at everyone,
- 38:05I think he makes you go into battle for them in the year like, I could only imagine,
- 38:09to be someone like, just me, you'll be in your manager, you'd want to run through Liverpool
- 38:12often. That first time he was at Chelsea, that's the way they speak about him, isn't it,
- 38:17with John Terry and that talking about how he sort of propelled them to the next level and how he
- 38:22made them feel. And I think that was probably, well, maybe he would argue with this because of his
- 38:29successor into Milan and Real Madrid, but that seemed like the pinnacle of his managerial career.
- 38:35He's still going, now there's even talk of him being back at Real Madrid. Yeah, there's
- 38:38the next season they're talking about that. So it shows that he's still got the hunger and people
- 38:45still believing him, but he's been a quality manager, but I want to manage it. Gus Hiddink was
- 38:51the manager of the day, they beat us in that final though. Yeah, they'd had a tough season up
- 38:56till that point, or early in the season, and he came in and really fired them into, sorry, got
- 39:02them sort of back playing and they still finished the season with the trophy. He's another one,
- 39:07who's won the La Cousin, Kenny. He's won an awful lot of trophies over the years.
- 39:11They just, I think Chelsea would imagine Chelsea then trying to compete now with the financial
- 39:16fair play, and they wouldn't have even competed. They'd have been thrown out, they'd been only one.
- 39:21That's why I think for both one third of them, I don't like this financial fair play thing.
- 39:24If you've got it and you can, and you can purposely put in place like Newcastle should be
- 39:30well allowed to buy whoever he wants. It's bad, I think it's wrong. Oh, it's mad that
- 39:34time is dictated that kind of thing, because Chelsea and less so much, they made a few issues,
- 39:41obviously. But you go back to the Walker who took over Black Jack Walker and took over Black
- 39:50Bay and you look at the success that they had off the back of him investing a hell of a lot of
- 39:55money. You look at the success, Chelsea's had, and then you look at the teams now that have
- 39:59got money that aren't able to invest. Did one of them to very scare the Premier League?
- 40:05Definitely in the way that a football club could be run into the ground.
- 40:11You have to pass this fair and proper person's test and you're supposed to be able to,
- 40:17FFP is about sustaining the club if the owners were to walk away tomorrow.
- 40:22Can the club be sustained? Are they financially okay? That the owner hasn't took a huge debt
- 40:26out against them or done this, that the club will go under it in a moment. So I understand the logic
- 40:31behind it, but at the same time you're stopping. How a Newcastle asked him to be able to get
- 40:42themselves into a fair fight with these top clubs that have got this global financial following
- 40:49because of the time and that they got their money and the time and they got their owner.
- 40:56Is anyone ever going to catch them up without just going through the normal way?
- 41:01They're not us, they're not and that's what's not fair because we've got now a consortium
- 41:07into control of our club. We were proper businessmen, even though I was a run for
- 41:10football clubs, they've got other footballs besides Evan, that are a global organisation,
- 41:14the Freedon Group and I just feel you cannot catch that big four,
- 41:22like you can't do it, I'm sorry, lest I shown freaky things can happen,
- 41:27but ultimately it cannot be sustained. It's actually impossible.
- 41:33It should happen more and for four really, shouldn't it? Like the surprise stories that just doesn't
- 41:37happen. But I don't think in our lifetime again we'll see what lest I don't. I think it's a one-off
- 41:42generation thing. I don't think you'll see another team do that ever again.
- 41:45Ever them fell into place in it that year. As in all the other teams, I'm in a transitional
- 41:51year or a poor year and the points that they won with would only win the Premier League one or two
- 41:57times, in the 10 or 15 years either side of it. So yeah, I understand that they probably won up
- 42:07again, but we have to dream. We have to have to do other teams other than the top guys.
- 42:13I mean, I have to dream that, but that's why that's why the FA Cup, the domestic
- 42:18Cup competitions are so important because they are actual opportunities. If you get a good run,
- 42:23if things go your way of other teams, you know, for one's of a better team, get themselves knocked
- 42:30out because of priorities or whatever it might be, to poor performances, you've got to think,
- 42:35if we get into a position now, we should have at least got to the final, maybe even won it in
- 42:442013. Yeah, 2013 when Wiggen won it. Wiggen beat us in that quarter finals and City were hoping
- 42:53that we got knocked out because we had the little who they were on going on City at that point.
- 42:57We were able to give them a right-go game, beat them as often as they would beat us.
- 43:03And that was the big one for us. We should have beaten Wiggen.
- 43:07No, they went down that year. Didn't they win it?
- 43:10Wiggen, yeah. It's my turn. It's just for Wiggen fans.
- 43:14And I think the answer is they'd do it all again. I think they wanted to win the FA Cup
- 43:20rather than saying it primarily. My mate say that to me once again, I bring these donuts up,
- 43:25but they say, would you go down and take one in the FA Cup? Absolutely not.
- 43:29No, I'm the same. For us, for us, no. Because of the stature of the club,
- 43:34Wiggen, no disrespect to Wiggen. It's a time I'm very close to home, but Wiggen
- 43:44probably never going to sustain Premier League survival for 30 years. They were not that
- 43:49kind of club. They don't want to get in the Premier League and probably on borrow time with
- 43:55regards to the size of the league. I can't even. So to win the FA Cup, but to win the FA Cup
- 44:04is a huge memory, a great day out for all of those that they can now say they won the FA Cup.
- 44:09The FA Cup minutes of pain. I bet they were never going to
- 44:12the thought of playing in the championship. There's a possible chance I'd walk away from football for
- 44:19them. I cannot envision the thought of going in that, because I will just say straight up now,
- 44:28that is the hardest league in the world. That is the most competitive division in the world. Yeah,
- 44:34put at the same time. It's a joke. Villa went down, came back up. Newcastle went down, came back up.
- 44:40West down, keep on going down, keep on coming back up. You don't all come back straight away,
- 44:44though. Straight away, but I'm saying they will eventually, because of the size of the club,
- 44:48find their way back up. Whereas for Wiggin, they were up here for a short spell, and probably for
- 44:53the first time in their history, got to a cup five foot to win it. Good stadium as well. So it
- 44:57doesn't just show you the stadium is going to bounce you back up. The championship is so awesome.
- 45:01Look at Leicester. Mate. Mate. Mate. Mate.
- 45:08So you don't want to mean they're in league one. I mean, they won the premiership,
- 45:1310 years ago. Oh, my lord. I mean, just a stop. And they won the FA Cup after that.
- 45:21Well, Tom or the FA Cup, that's fast forward to the present day. Got Chelsea vs City in the final.
- 45:27Have Chelsea got what it takes to overtake in City or is it cities? No. Look, on a day,
- 45:36anyone's got a chance. What would you call it? Punches chance, the fighting chance,
- 45:41the swingers chance. It's just nope. But you look at both teams at the minute, and you see Chelsea
- 45:49moving backwards at the moment, they're really struggling. Look at the core of the team and the
- 45:54quality just really fell for them. Yes. You go into your dressing room with some big egos,
- 46:01the big, big egos. I mean, you've got that Ghana show. It doesn't look like the easiest to deal with,
- 46:06and then you've got a few other players. You've got the Leicester ends. Oh, coming out saying,
- 46:09I like the look of Madrid, and you just cool your jets like that. And then you need a manager
- 46:15the man's respect on top of all of all of that though. They then the moment they put him in,
- 46:22the players were always already saying, Meresco was hard done by him. We like Meresco. And he's
- 46:26doing nothing wrong. Yeah. Part of me saying, well, part of me saying, well, if that was the
- 46:30case, why were you slipping? Why were you doing bad? Why did they feel they need to get the manager
- 46:34going? And then the other side of that is, well, so what? Where God for? Where God for your new manager?
- 46:39Don't look like you're upset that the old manager is going to know you're not working as harder.
- 46:43I struggle with, forget the manager. Play for yourself, lad. Yeah, definitely. Play for yourself.
- 46:49Should be about a bit of pride. Have a bit of pride and go on. Fight for yourself. Like,
- 46:53fight, roll like your life depends on it. Get everything you've got for every tackle, every
- 46:57sprints out. Just do it for yourself. Forget the manager. Just do it for yourself. Have some
- 47:02pride about yourself. That might be a good speech for them to hear. Maybe you should go
- 47:06in the dressing room. Maybe you should go in the dressing room. He said to you. I'm hoping it's just
- 47:10a struggle at times because I've witnessed it at my own club when lads go out and I've seen
- 47:15made there was a spell at our place when the guy for lift and I just watch a change and it's just
- 47:22the relationship that he's had between themselves when I first went in and seen how the old was,
- 47:26it was like a, I'm not joking, it was like a family. They were just, they were like brothers,
- 47:31they tore the back harder, they tore the four, they tore the plate again, they just done everything,
- 47:35they were just one big family and when he went, that core remained for the first year and as soon as
- 47:43like, not even the whole of the first year, I felt like when we got to about April, March April,
- 47:51I felt like it started to break and I just thought, oh, this is a bit of a different place now.
- 47:57This fella's trying to put his stamp on things a little bit and I just feel, oh, this is
- 48:02to get a difference and then before you knew it, he's out, it's a bit of time, like what he's
- 48:06out the door, comparisons to Liverpool, the faces coming in and out. Because he definitely got
- 48:13when Bobby first comes in and when he first comes in, I don't care what anyone says, you get
- 48:18up to start then and all that nonsense with the spreadsheets. He had David Moise's regime and fitness
- 48:25and it's like he just let them off the leash a bit more and that's and I think that's what it was.
- 48:32But then when you started getting to March, but I think we had something like, we had more hamstring
- 48:37injuries in the space of like six months, the more David Moise had in the previous six years
- 48:42and I remember saying speaking to a lot of like, sir, those guns are so, what's going on?
- 48:46And he just said, we're not doing enough fitness work. He said, we're not as fit as we was and I was
- 48:51out, he's a trainer every day, he's like, Tony, it's just different types of animals like
- 48:55then it made me realize and as managed as chains in years when Bobby, I just watched the change
- 49:00gradually and it's just it's just a different for both a different game now. I think senior players
- 49:07are at a minimum like number now. I don't think there's no seniority in squads. There's no senior
- 49:13players in dressing rooms. It's kids running kids. Like these were in the dressing room and then
- 49:18these would feel no way to tell. And you're not sparkly, are you?
- 49:21I think I think what makes it easy is I think just to talk about Evan in the comparison and
- 49:27and look around with the Premier League is now look at a Chelsea maybe that when David Moise was
- 49:32signed and players like Artette, a kale, Lesca, Jaguil, you know, the list could go on stills and stones
- 49:39to all these people. It was with come here, make Evan successful, make yourself successful.
- 49:47And then speaking to players that were working under Roberto,
- 49:52for Everton, like Lukaku, he was telling me Roberto's told me to come here play well for a year or
- 49:57two and then I can go to a bigger club. And it's a step in stone for me. And there was a couple
- 50:02of players that I spoke to that said and I was like, wow, I'm fire. It's never been the mentality.
- 50:07And if that's, if the mentality of a football club isn't a community and be a part of
- 50:12making this club successful, then there's no one you have to hold people accountable because
- 50:17they're thinking, well, I'm going to be on the door soon. And I'm not planning on staying
- 50:22for too long. I won't be there. I'm not that, you know, if things don't work out our world
- 50:27next year. Whereas that's not the mentality A football club should have. Chelsea players shouldn't
- 50:32be thinking, I'll go in there and I'll do well. And then I'll get me men's off and
- 50:37others. Then I'll get me moved to rail Madrid. There'll be other players in that team thinking
- 50:41because Chelsea become a team that are buying so many young players at the moment. I mean,
- 50:47and they're probably doing it top only in that as a business. And by these young players,
- 50:51they might go on and spin. They might grow together, but there'll probably be worth more in
- 50:5510 or 15, 10, five years time, whatever it might be. But actually the mentality now is within
- 51:01that squad. They won't be there that long. I'm going. I'll be going soon. So there's no one,
- 51:04there's no court that are actually making that team a real sort of long-term project.
- 51:09The saddest part of what he's just said there, I've now as a fan, become to expect. It's only
- 51:15since David Moises come back home that I'm not accepting that no more. I feel like we're going to
- 51:20grow and we're going to get better. But for the last 10 years, or however long it's been since he's
- 51:25been away, I've now, I've seen them lads in them dressers and I've seen them lads in and amongst
- 51:30the club and I'm like, I understand why you've come here. You've come here to, to, to, and,
- 51:34and as I was sadder is, I'm a piece of it now because when you stand, they're like sickening
- 51:39Jews, be all. And you go, you go, you're playing because you're going to get enough game time
- 51:42and he's come to have it. I'm like, okay, you, you, you might not see anything as you're
- 51:46coming home and you might want to play football, but as I'm bad, there is, I'm happy with that
- 51:51because if you do well while you're at us, that means we're going to do well. I'm not really
- 51:55I don't see any future and now that he's back at you, but before he come home, he can't, I
- 52:01didn't see any future us. It can't be that and it has to be, it has to be known that if within a
- 52:07squad of players that, for instance, if you get, you know, we were growing as a team and we were
- 52:14getting better as a team and then, for instance, Man City came and said to Joel, unless we want you
- 52:19to come here and help us win titles. If that happens, that's part of the process. It was unexpected.
- 52:25It was an opportunity to go in win titles, John Stones as well in terms, but you have to,
- 52:32you have to do that because you actually felt that this was your home and you wanted this to work.
- 52:36You can't be doing it as a step in stone already because it's not true. You can't say you're
- 52:40never going to leave. And Keanu Jewishweold comes in, has come in now and is excellent for four
- 52:46years and then let's just say you're man United who are now on the brinker winning titles go,
- 52:51you're the last key for us. It's hard to stop. I get that. Have it and we'll have done really
- 52:57well for that time. I don't want to get that, but I only think it should be happening to us now
- 53:03if one of the title contenders are coming. If you live up here, look, well, no, not then,
- 53:07and regardless, like you don't believe him for that. I'm just going to let you know I'm looking
- 53:10back in the camera. Don't be, don't be leaving for them. When you were a don't leave for them,
- 53:14don't do it. If city come calling the past, look, I'll get it. I've always known and
- 53:21King told me this many years ago. I was in the ice bath. I finished farm sitting there, but to me
- 53:26neck and he's just looking at me shaking his head as usual. It was neck by the way. It was just
- 53:31awesome to me. He said, Tony said, you do know that all the players and I know he's only speaking
- 53:39about the players from the father perspective, because you're not well. He might even speak about
- 53:43us, don't know, but he said, they all want to live in London. He said, we can live a normal life day,
- 53:47you know. He said, I can't go to town. I can't do this. I can't do that when I'm living
- 53:50and playing for heaven. He said, man, I was like, you know, it's the same. We can't do it. He said,
- 53:54we're in London. You just go out and be left alone. We just go under the radar. It's always,
- 54:00it's always sat with me. So when London Cubs come calling, calling, I get it. Clubs,
- 54:05yeah, club calling. When London Cubs come calling, I get it. But really, it's only half
- 54:11something on Chelsea. I mean, Spares, I know better off than us. I think it's actually more
- 54:15toxic space now. You've got to proper love in for Spares. Now I don't think Spares is a bigger
- 54:20calling than us. And it's a bit of a mess from upstairs with them, but I also look at the same
- 54:28with United. I think there's a bit of a mess as well. I don't think they know what to do. I think
- 54:31the only clubs that are really attractive is Arsenal's really attractive. It's well run.
- 54:35You know what you get when you go there. You know it's the boss. You know he's going to be there
- 54:39for a period of time. I think it's though. Players don't seem to want to go out as much as they
- 54:44used to. No, it's a different environment. It shouldn't be as big a pull in those terms. But
- 54:50you do want to go out to us. Do you want to be out and do you want to go for the media? Social media
- 54:54now is such a prevalent part of football and the lifestyles that they lead and everyone just
- 54:59got a camera phone at the minutes when one walks anyway. He's getting video-picked. Everyone's
- 55:03jealous these days because, oh, there's him. How are you going out in town? Liverpool.
- 55:08I'm no wonder. I'm a punchy boxer from the fucking UK. Yeah, you get ready. No, of course,
- 55:13but no one's a very, very similar video man. And when they do video, they go, what's up with you,
- 55:16you were there? Just the two of you said, well, what are you doing? Like, your video,
- 55:20you were watching, well, why? And it's happened about three or four times and like,
- 55:24he's there. Look, that's for the arms of the year. Do you crack pot? What are you doing?
- 55:28So, but for you, like, as I've said this before and I'll say again, our country is governed by football.
- 55:34Our country, it's what makes our country go round. Football, Premier League football is the biggest
- 55:40thing in the country. By a mile, nothing even comes close. We're from the way. It's Covid,
- 55:46the players that are Covid, like, you know, it check real. It's just probably going to be one of
- 55:51the most famous men in the country. He's just a footballer and he's just a normal lad. But
- 55:55you want to follow him everywhere. Pitch some videos on him and all day, I'm going to bury. Just leave. Why?
- 56:02He's just a normal fellow who's got a kick in a ball. But this is what football has now become.
- 56:07And that's why everyone being the Janus, if he was in, well, no, it's a bit different for Jack,
- 56:11because we've years and more he's done. But these players, what's a living London? I think that's the
- 56:15part. I'll tell you about Jack very quickly, is the negatives around him are reported a lot more
- 56:21on a lot more quick. In fact, this isn't just Jan the positive. This is, yeah, this is general across.
- 56:25They're reported a lot more than the positive. All the work he's doing for, for the stable parallel
- 56:31Olympics. And all of that that he's that he's been doing, he signed up for another few years,
- 56:36won't get reported after as much as as him falling asleep in an afternoon while he's on holiday.
- 56:41Yeah. You know what I mean? So when a couple of babies, I understand that. It's wrong,
- 56:45but then I also think the same thing's happened to Raheem Sterling,
- 56:48Buying a smarter house and the way they report on it and things like that. And Buying is missing
- 56:51mummacard or whatever the way it that is if he's like being a Charlie big, big bollocks when he's
- 56:57when he's not he's bought a smarter car, he's bought whatever he's done. So I think certain players get
- 57:01certain scrutiny at certain times. But if Raheem Sterling was to be caught doing what Jack done,
- 57:06I don't think it'd be done anywhere near as much an ift and when Jack does what Raheem does,
- 57:10it's not even reported in the slightest. So it's just that it's it's the narrative with
- 57:14whichever narrative the paper want to go with. But I think we're moving away more now for,
- 57:19I think the journalists have become relevant. If I mean sort of I think papers have become relevant.
- 57:23Because of social media. Exactly. Because everyone's a journalist now. So the journalist
- 57:28are missing all the time because everyone's got a phone guy that I was not supposed to
- 57:31on social media myself. And that's the worry in time that you're living in. But as I say,
- 57:35for football is going forward. I just feel it's very, very difficult. I mean, don't know we've got
- 57:39this from an athlete called Weekend Bull. I know. The tag goes back to where they got
- 57:44because we started by talking about Chelsea and City. I just can't see City not winning this game.
- 57:51I really can't honestly, there must be favourites now to be winning the domestic treble.
- 57:56I'm not sure what the domestic treble, I'm not sure what the domestic treble,
- 58:00because I think there's a lot to do in that league. Yeah. Since I bought the cup,
- 58:04I think they're doing obviously they've got one cup down. I think they'll do the double.
- 58:07Pep has done brilliantly with, I think it's actually going to be forwards. Just this desire to
- 58:11keep on winning the FAQ. Does he leave if he does the treble? Does he call it? Yeah, I think he probably
- 58:15does. What makes you say that? Because I've been saying it's, I've been saying it's stay
- 58:21for the majority of the season because I just didn't think they would find themselves in this
- 58:25position. From the end of the season and yet, you know, they could end up winning another treble,
- 58:31which he's done before. I don't know. I'm often a domestic treble has been done. I know he's
- 58:37already done one himself. But what else is the firm to do? He's just feeling a little bit tired
- 58:42or he's feeling a little bit off it. I do think it's going to be better next year. I just think
- 58:46where does he go? The national team. I think he wants to go watch Stoppop like he loves watching
- 58:55Stoppop. I don't know. I'd love to know what he's going to do because I think he's got every right
- 59:00rules. I'm just going to have the greatest manager ever. Everywhere I've gone up, I've changed
- 59:03football. Everywhere I've gone. It's been relentless for him though, hasn't it? Every season,
- 59:08right at the top of the league? I don't know. When you speak to people, like speaking to
- 59:11Stonesie a year ago, so I'm probably about to just saying the intensity that he makes them train
- 59:19at that every day is done at. That must take its toll on him after a while. That must be hard for
- 59:25him to constantly maintain. That's not much of a personal life. It must be hard for him,
- 59:30most of all. I think he's a good golfer. I'm not playing against him any time soon. He's just a
- 59:37meast in football. You won't even play against me anymore? No, you're your bandit, that's why.
- 59:42It's just, I don't know. I think he's a stag, so I think he's so comfortable and he's
- 59:47and I think, you know, the biggest factor I think he stays, he'll struggle and this is a big
- 59:52statement. He'll struggle to have the control. He has a city anywhere else where he moves.
- 59:56You won't have that amount of control. I think football's just going in a different path now.
- 1:00:00I think, you know, this head coach role is kicking him more and more. He will not have the control.
- 1:00:05If he goes somewhere else, he's not going to be implementing ground rules that he implements
- 1:00:08it's a city. I know what you're saying, but how can any club take PIPGuardio they're in and not
- 1:00:15letting him be? If they're doing it to Carlo and Chalazzi, they can do it to PIPGuardio.
- 1:00:20If they're doing it to Rani, he's not coming in and winning the league in his first season,
- 1:00:23they'll do it to him. I just think it's where he goes. He'd have to go to it a less league,
- 1:00:28maybe a past, well, he's doing fantastic. He'd have to go, I think, to a less league to be
- 1:00:33able to demand eating control. There's not another Premier League club that will allow
- 1:00:37them to come in and take control of the infrastructure of the club. That's what he's done in the city.
- 1:00:42Everything goes through him. Name me another club. I'm thinking more along the lines of what's
- 1:00:50less left for him. Does he go into international management? Does he think, well, there's two leagues
- 1:00:59I've not managed in. I'll go managing Italy for a bit. Pick one of the best teams there and go
- 1:01:03be successful. Does he wait then until loose and recase finish to PSG and then go in after him
- 1:01:09and say, well, let's do France. He's not going to manage anyone else. I just don't think
- 1:01:14I just think that's the last year you'll see of a manager using control of a football club.
- 1:01:21Of the whole infrastructure of a football club, I just don't, I just think this head coach thing
- 1:01:25now is so prevalent. It's so relevant in the game. I just think we're not getting away from
- 1:01:31football now in my opinion is just going to go more and more like the NFL. Oh, I love the NFL.
- 1:01:40These directors are football, they're rolling the shows and managers and I don't agree with
- 1:01:47it, but it's just where football is and owners now are looking more to, I mean, using controllers
- 1:01:52in this in this current system, who's the boss to the football director of football or the manager?
- 1:01:57The manager picks the team director of football. Tells me, tells me we can have, so who's really
- 1:02:05picking the team? Yeah, that's me, but then how many managers, I'll say how many old-school managers
- 1:02:12are going to want to keep managing in that you are going to get as you were just switching on there
- 1:02:15then a whole new generation of managers who know that they are just responsible for picking the
- 1:02:21team up. Like Liam Lassini, and look how he's had to suffer for it. That can only be sustained
- 1:02:27for so long when you start looking at. But that's the model now? When you then start comparing it
- 1:02:33to Pepe who will get control over signings and control over this and then bringing success with it.
- 1:02:40So people like Liam Lassini who you've just said will be sort of warning signs for clubs and
- 1:02:48other managers that that's... Do you think Pepe's difficult for you to sit in the background and
- 1:02:52not give the manager the full support? Do you expect them to be successful? Michael Arthas just took
- 1:02:56years to get full control of Arsenal, years and he's had to get rid of sitting direct as a football
- 1:03:01things like that, like air-do and stuff like that. If you were to say to Pepe now, Pepe leaves and he
- 1:03:06goes away for, let's say, as a year out, and he comes back and he goes writing, we're going to
- 1:03:10Manchester United. Do you believe Manchester United just goes back to do what you want? You're in control
- 1:03:15by everything, because I don't. I don't think any club goes, you go do what you want straight away,
- 1:03:19but I just thought with Michael Arthas and people, you sort of get yourself in, you make
- 1:03:23you foot steps and then you gradually, you gain your control gradually. What city did straight away
- 1:03:29with him? You went to cities, everything was done, you got his white, you don't have to be
- 1:03:33yourself. They still had the people in the hierarchy, but they just got him to do what he wants?
- 1:03:37Yeah, okay. They didn't get success from it. Exactly, but that's my worry is why are they all
- 1:03:42moving away from that model? Because it's shown with the right manager, giving the right amount
- 1:03:46of time, and not every season has been a one to season for Pepe. Last season went great.
- 1:03:53No, didn't they win the title? Last season. They were rubbish last season.
- 1:03:58So this one I'm saying last season went great, and it shows stick with him because look what he's
- 1:04:01done this season, but that's so quick and so fast to fire managers and I'm just like, there's your
- 1:04:07man, let him have, let him be a little bit, David Moise is a perfect example. He's a bit, give
- 1:04:13the man control, he's showing you what he can do. It is crazy that it tells you now I don't know if
- 1:04:18I could final within an interim month manager, but surely that shouldn't be the case. It's
- 1:04:23madness. It's madness with people who aren't even fully aware. Listen, why did they say
- 1:04:25Khmereska? The players just come out crying, winging after it, I know it's all, all world
- 1:04:29setting up, but the fellas was doing a good job. Why are you sacking them?
- 1:04:34When he came out and made some strange statements, he was getting annoyed with them, wasn't he,
- 1:04:40he made some statements about we were picked out, you know, combined, making, making
- 1:04:46a visual space with the medical stuff. Yeah, but it's not unheard of, it's hot and
- 1:04:51sacked, merennial. Yeah, merennial. Before the caravan cook, we, during the week,
- 1:04:57this is time of football now. You're saying he's gone to Madrid, but that's the galactic
- 1:05:03host and I love Joseph. I'm as big as fan, but in today's game, he's really going to suffer
- 1:05:08because these players with the egos that they've got, and they have got egos. I will say,
- 1:05:13you said it before, but Joseph, what show for managers?
- 1:05:15They merennial's got a big egos as well in terms of, yes, he can demand respect from all
- 1:05:20them, but if they have one disagreements, then you can't say 28 players. Joseph Merino's not
- 1:05:24going to back down. That's what enchilotti was great in terms of, he's just so laid back, isn't he?
- 1:05:28A lot of lads at our place to love them. They back chill, can demand your respect. You know,
- 1:05:33knows what he's doing and yet wants to make everyone feel happy without anyone having a real
- 1:05:38debate or argument about it. There's no huge head face-to-face conversations. He manages
- 1:05:44big egos all in one way. Everyone loved him and everything. Every player loved them. I mean,
- 1:05:49he's the only manager in all the years. I never got to meet him. He was a COVID, only when something
- 1:05:53happened. He made me feel good. We only spoke for about 5-10 minutes. I spoke to him on the phone
- 1:06:03with the chairman when something happened that is outspot beside that. It was just
- 1:06:08but every player, and I was always been to the lads, was like, he's unbelievable. He's brilliant.
- 1:06:15It's just, like I said before, it's now worries me with the way football's going and the
- 1:06:20model that's putting forward. I don't see managers now having control anymore and I find that
- 1:06:25really a thing. That's a struggle. It's an interesting sort of
- 1:06:30confrontation. They're coming to the co-final again. When you've got a manager who's been there
- 1:06:34for ages one year old, could potentially have this game to win another treble against an
- 1:06:39interim manager who is in charge of a team that should be doing very well with regards to the
- 1:06:45money that's spending and the reputation and where the gold starts to fall in the
- 1:06:49part in front of our eyes with an interim manager. It's quite a contrast. It all comes down to
- 1:06:54players. Then players go in and they're pitching what I must show on the win lads. It's going to
- 1:06:57take a lead amongst that shall see team one of them to get amongst them. They're up in upsets
- 1:07:03back in the day. That'd be the biggest one if I think they win that. They're up in upsets.
- 1:07:06Wig and beaten city was won. Wimbledon beaten Liverpool and 88. But Chelsea with no manager.
- 1:07:13Chelsea with no manager in no kind of form. I think it'd be the biggest shock down beaten city.
- 1:07:17But the form city it in, the way they're playing, the class that they're showing on the pitch.
- 1:07:23Chelsea getting a result against them would be the biggest shock of them all for me with no manager.
- 1:07:27Because it usually may be, but I'm telling you, going back to Wimbledon beaten Liverpool in 88,
- 1:07:35I don't know if you're just about too young for that one. Wimbledon with a crazy gang, Liverpool
- 1:07:40with the best team in the country at the time, going for the double, John Barnes, I think,
- 1:07:45a just pink, or was it Steve Dupnickle? Because I don't talk about it that much, but I was like,
- 1:07:50I was a Liverpool fan. I shouldn't have known that. I shouldn't have known that.
- 1:07:53I shouldn't have known that. Jesus Christ. I don't think I've ever hidden it.
- 1:07:56I was a Liverpool fan as a kid. So I was at that game and it was Liverpool
- 1:08:01excited to win. I actually got lost within the stadium. So I get there before the game and it was
- 1:08:11quite messy with regards to the Stewart and outside. This was a year before the Hillsborough was
- 1:08:16quite messy outside. So we were all getting squashed. So they said, pass your kids over the top.
- 1:08:21I won't make this straight away. So they put all the kids and we got sort of filtered across on
- 1:08:26the top of our way, on the top of all the heads and dads and that. And they just let us inside
- 1:08:30the place and me dad had said to me, I'll just wait right next to that gate you go in.
- 1:08:35I'm going to keep you guys. I'm going to go in that gate and you're going to be stood there.
- 1:08:38I said, okay, no problem. And I does it. And they put me down and then a policeman was going,
- 1:08:43right, come on off we go. We're going to take you to the pickup point. And I was like, no,
- 1:08:46no, my dad said, I've got to wait here. And these policemen's going, no, no, we can't let you stay.
- 1:08:50He told you a little shit. Can't let you stay here. Yeah. Can't let you stay.
- 1:08:53We're going to take you to the pickup place. And I'm like, oh, no, no, no.
- 1:08:56So anyway, it takes me to the, it does what the policeman says. He went, your dad will know
- 1:09:00when he'll find out. Don't worry. You'll get there. And I'm in this pickup place. So this
- 1:09:03was probably about half an hour before the game. And then one by one, I'm sat there and there was
- 1:09:08loads of kids, one by one, all the dads came in. That's came in. Yeah, dad, there we go. I off
- 1:09:13to get the game and then thinking, where's me dad? What's going on here? What's happening? No
- 1:09:19one was coming in. My heart was breaking. Then I heard kick off. So it's five minutes in,
- 1:09:23ten minutes in, twenty minutes in, half an hour into the game and I'm thinking, where's
- 1:09:27me dad? I'm sure God of all, where's me dad? Is he watching the game? And he's just left me here.
- 1:09:32But there was me and this other kid. So the Stuart said, don't know what's happening here,
- 1:09:36kids. We'll, we'll take you outside just in case he actually didn't get in for some reason.
- 1:09:41So he took us outside to see if they took us through all the back enchances and all this
- 1:09:47outside. Like, which gate did you come in? I went that gate up there and as I'm looking in the
- 1:09:50distance, there was a fella banging on the door saying, let me in, let me in.
- 1:09:55And it was, it was me dad's mate I would go in the game with. I was like, because he would go,
- 1:10:00Clare, and he went, oh, look at what I said. What are you doing? He said, I put me out out to see
- 1:10:04if you'd got left outside. Someone pushed me out and shut the door. Yeah. He went, I can't get
- 1:10:11back in. So the Stuart said, don't worry, come with us. It was a funny story. Should have left
- 1:10:16the cop I said. So he gets us back in and then Glenn was like, your dad's been doing this blah,
- 1:10:21blah, blah. And I ended up finding that we only got in to watch the game, about five minutes
- 1:10:27into the, probably about, yeah, just after half time, I got into what, what's the, I mean lost that
- 1:10:33game, didn't lost that game. All you'd miss the pen. Brilliant. I missed most of it though. So that
- 1:10:39was a bad, that was a bad memory that turned out to be a good day.
- 1:10:44If I do, I don't remember, I don't remember anything about that. I'm six years old at the time,
- 1:10:51and yeah, I mean, we just need, I don't know, but we need to cut criminals. We just need to
- 1:11:01go. We love a good cut run. I think we were on, why have we never won the league cop us?
- 1:11:07I don't actually know the answer to that. Why have we never won the league cup? We've been going
- 1:11:11for a hundred years. Back in the 80s, weren't we? I mean, I don't want to hear we were robbed. I
- 1:11:15don't want to hear that. And we'll be going for a hundred years by the, the other mob just going
- 1:11:21off stories. It was about 84. How have we not won the league cop? It's just a joke. Like just,
- 1:11:26just, you know what? Just next season, just have everything at the league cup.
- 1:11:31Just have everything at the league cup. Every game, I don't care if it's, if it's Mansfield or Mansfield,
- 1:11:37just have everything. We should have actually won the, oh, sorry, we should not have got knocked
- 1:11:41out the league cup this year. Is it the team we put out against, against Wolves? Yeah, that team
- 1:11:45could be asked out in 11 and a half. It's just, it's confidence when you're going into games.
- 1:11:50And I just think the most important part of the pitch when it comes to confidence is your
- 1:11:54centre forwards. I think you midfielders control games, and we've got an outstanding midfield,
- 1:11:59you can't control games are just in up top, you need lads who are confident and they're,
- 1:12:04they're playing well. And I think it's probably the reason why it's one of the most important parts
- 1:12:09of the pitch. You should get your boots on then. I'm going to show David. No, we don't need to,
- 1:12:14we don't need to even go there. I've seen you play. Remember when I saw you play on good
- 1:12:17distance. Which time, the time has snapped me. Yeah, I was fantastic. The time you were telling me
- 1:12:26how good a centre forward you were. Don't make me, I was being the manager. Don't make me get
- 1:12:31me free kick out of us. He was on the pitch. I've got me free kick on the phone. Don't make me do it.
- 1:12:35Try to step over, fell on the ball. Five minutes into this game. He was telling me how good he's
- 1:12:38going to do playing centre forward. Five minutes into this game. He tried to try to, try to
- 1:12:43step over. I was playing fantastic. I was playing for the first time. I was running the game
- 1:12:49for five minutes. I think it was going to be, I was fantastic. And then that's sixth minute,
- 1:12:53just kicked in. That was the end of me. The scream echoing round Goodison Park that day.
- 1:13:00It doesn't matter, because I scored. I'm the last man to score a free kick. Goodison Park.
- 1:13:04I'm going to send you the clip and we're going to put it in at the end of this.
- 1:13:08Don't do that. The 89th minute against Parkley. It's back to the very edge of the fall.
- 1:13:14If you're able to watch this, it's actually worth it. It kills right into the top end.
- 1:13:18It's celebrations good as well. Yeah. What'd you go with? Big fat fellow like Robby Keen.
- 1:13:23I mean, I tried to roll over nearly put a crater and go to some park.
- 1:13:26Did the roll over there? Yeah. Nearly broke me back. The camera is on this side of the pitch,
- 1:13:30shook. What a goal. What a day. But yeah, it's just, I throw every, you know, the
- 1:13:36leak up haven't pleased. Give me and me kids something to celebrate. I'd love it to be the
- 1:13:41air. If you had to pick one or the other, I pick the leak up. I pick the air. No, I know,
- 1:13:46but we've never won the leak up. I want to see history at me club. We've won it five times.
- 1:13:50Now, the air. Give me the leak. I mean, yeah, you've got to be right. Just winning the
- 1:13:56Europa conference. No, we get in that way. I win in that. That's what I, because I know he's
- 1:14:00done it. I know he can do it. I'm evident of a far bigger and better club than myself.
- 1:14:05I'm sorry. I'm fans, but we are just the way it is. It's, you know, I'm just telling the truth.
- 1:14:11And if you're totally honest, you'll know that too. Just, I want to see history letters of
- 1:14:16complaint care of Tony Bellew. It's, I don't give a shit.com.
- 1:14:24Last question, score prediction. City Chelsea FA Cup.
- 1:14:293-0. 3-0 City. And I think I'm being kind. Yeah, I'm going to go 4-1.
- 1:14:36I'm going to go a bit of a hand. I think there's a steamroll. I just don't see any fighting
- 1:14:42in that Chelsea team. And if you've got an interim manager, don't even know where he is, but they ain't
- 1:14:46fighting for him. And I just, you know, I've shocked me the most. I haven't, and he's clearly
- 1:14:52putting his name about 4-1. John said, you're coming home, I'm going. And the 18s goes,
- 1:14:56no one's calling me. He said that interview. And I just think, like, are they missing a tricky
- 1:15:03that the, the owner's a Chelsea, just give him a go. You couldn't get anywhere.
- 1:15:08John said, just made, just give him a go. John said, he is the one. I don't, I don't get what
- 1:15:13the big issue is. He's got all those badges. He's coaching 20 ones. And I can't see every single
- 1:15:18player. I don't care what your opinion is. They'll respect them. Every player will respect them
- 1:15:23because he will be mad. You sort of give your old ex players the game. I mean, give them the
- 1:15:30go. Do you seem to have to go and go and show that you can go elsewhere and go and do stuff and
- 1:15:36go abroad or as it seems a lot more glamorous to go and get a manager from abroad that you know
- 1:15:42one's ever heard of rather than give it to someone who could potentially understand the football club
- 1:15:49and be very good at what they do. Yeah. Don't really do that anymore. Ring that back to me.
- 1:15:53I think it's an interesting chance that interim manager going in tells you about problems.
- 1:15:57You put someone like John Terry in there. Just give yourself the end of the season more of a chance.
- 1:16:01Just so you know what we're going to give you the season. We're going to give you the year in
- 1:16:04charge. Get a grip of this law. Yeah, we're just going to give you a one-year deal. See,
- 1:16:08I would go it on. Can't give one-year deal. I know, but you just... The players won't really
- 1:16:14overly... Any player that doesn't feel like he's playing is now just causing a ruckus to get
- 1:16:18because you're only on a one-year deal. I'll I'll wait you out. You've got to give at least more
- 1:16:23than one-year deals and they're going to do that. Why did they do that? That's why they did
- 1:16:27exactly after two months. I mean, they can sack you after two months. Of course. I'm saying
- 1:16:30if you're three-year-one, you're going to give it five-year deal. You don't want to mean it,
- 1:16:34it makes no wads to them, but I just think for the Chelsea hierarchy, you've got a man there who's
- 1:16:40adored by fans. I'm not sure if he's a one club, but I know he's not, I think he's a villain,
- 1:16:45didn't even for a little bit. So you've just got a legend of the club there and I'm not saying
- 1:16:50every legend's going to be a great manager, but he's coaching at your club already and you're lost
- 1:16:55when it comes to managers. I mean, you've just been having a manager in controlling Liam
- 1:16:59Lassinia and the being making out he's David Brent. You know what I mean, but the things that I've
- 1:17:04got and I felt so sorry for him at the time because none of the players are coming out and going,
- 1:17:08no, he's not. He does this right. Where does he does this? He's brilliant tactically. He makes
- 1:17:12us aware of set and century. They're all just like, yeah, they even throw him under the bus.
- 1:17:17They ain't doing that to John Terry. I'm telling you now, he will, he will get, he will get a
- 1:17:21reaction, whether it's good or bad, he'll get one. And I just don't think Liam Lassinia
- 1:17:25never got that reaction from them. Well, we'll end on this. I think it's fair to say the most
- 1:17:30unpredictable thing, although we can come up with the FA Cup final. He'll be Aussie's birthday.
- 1:17:36Yeah, it is. Yeah. No, the year old, that's definitely wise. Always look forward to that.
