- 0:00SPEAKER_00: Welcome to the Single Doc Mom Podcast, where we explore mindset strategies to help you stop enduring and start enjoying life.
- 0:08SPEAKER_00: My name is Amanda Queen.
- 0:10SPEAKER_00: I'm an adult endocrinologist, certified life coach, and your host.
- 0:14SPEAKER_00: Hi, I'm Amanda Queen.
- 0:16SPEAKER_00: I'm a woman who became a physician, who became a wife, who became a mom, who became a single mom.
- 0:21SPEAKER_00: Through my journey, I stumbled upon life coaching.
- 0:24SPEAKER_00: I've always been a supporter of mental health and therapy and have benefited from counseling at various points in my life.
- 0:29SPEAKER_00: I used to think life coaching was too new age or thought it was a bit too woo-woo for me.
- 0:34SPEAKER_00: However, as I looked for my path forward in some of my darkest moments, it was life coaching that helped me find my next steps with more confidence and more courage.
- 0:43SPEAKER_00: Being a mom is tough, a doc mom even tougher, and a single doc mom even tougher.
- 0:48SPEAKER_00: I can easily go down the path of overwhelm if I'm not paying attention.
- 0:52SPEAKER_00: Life coaching, along with my faith, continue to give me the tools to manage the ups and downs of this crazy life.
- 0:59SPEAKER_00: It's because of the benefit I have seen from life coaching in my life that I became a coach.
- 1:03SPEAKER_00: I want to help my friends and doc mom sisters not to just endure but start enjoying this life we worked so hard to create.
- 1:11SPEAKER_00: I'm not perfect.
- 1:13SPEAKER_00: Just when I think I've got my got a part of my life figured out, whether it's my kids or my relationships or my in-basket, um, life happens and I'm again searching for a path forward or up out of that hole.
- 1:24SPEAKER_00: Coaching has helped me find a way to better every time.
- 1:27SPEAKER_00: With this podcast, I want to help you find and celebrate wins.
- 1:33SPEAKER_00: And I'll share some of my more funny fails because life happens to all of us and I want us to embrace it all.
- 1:39SPEAKER_00: I wrote most of the above four years ago, three and a half, four years ago.
- 1:45SPEAKER_00: It's taking me this long to bring this out and to actually put this podcast out here because of so much fear, so much everything.
- 1:56SPEAKER_00: And um it's only because I've been in so many spaces, whether it's online or in person, where I've met other doctors who um are single moms as well.
- 2:07SPEAKER_00: And I keep thinking that I'm the single mom and I can't do things because, or I see limits.
- 2:14SPEAKER_00: Um, or I think I'm alone in that.
- 2:17SPEAKER_00: And I have met every time I say I'm a single mom or single doc mom, I'm shocked at how many times I get a chorus of me twos.
- 2:25SPEAKER_00: And I don't feel I want to add to um create a community where we're not alone, where we can hear each other's stories and learn from each other's stories.
- 2:40SPEAKER_00: I want to create a space where we can share our strength, hope, and experience.
- 2:45SPEAKER_00: Now, having said all of that, um I also want to state that this podcast is for sharing my personal experience as a single mom and physician.
- 2:55SPEAKER_00: Um, this podcast is completely separate from my medical practice, and nothing you hear here should be taken as medical advice.
- 3:04SPEAKER_00: This is not a substitute for professional care, diagnosis, or treatment.
- 3:08SPEAKER_00: If you have questions about your health or the health of your child, please see your own healthcare professionals.
- 3:15SPEAKER_00: Also, one of the things that limited me from sending this out earlier is that I didn't want to jeopardize anyone else's privacy.
- 3:23SPEAKER_00: I'm committed to being real and honest about my journey, but I also understand that my journey involves other people sometimes, and I want to be intentional about protecting the privacy of my kids and others in my life.
- 3:36SPEAKER_00: I'm actually creating this podcast after having come back from spring break in March of 2027 when TSA is down, and I got stuck in the, we all got stuck, the three of us got stuck in the Toronto airport overnight to start the vacation 24 plus hours without luggage with um at least one of my kids not having a winter coat, or one of us, I shall say, not having a winter coat.
- 4:04SPEAKER_00: And we were visiting the Canadian Rockies in March, and what was the coldest day of our entire week?
- 4:12SPEAKER_00: And then we came back yesterday again, so many delays, again, stuck in the Toronto airport for hours.
- 4:18SPEAKER_00: Um, I still have a huge thing of laundry downstairs.
- 4:21SPEAKER_00: I haven't unpacked anything other than my toothbrush.
- 4:25SPEAKER_00: And I just wanted to put this out here.
- 4:29SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna share my uh my fail for the week, is that is to explain the picture that I'm including in the show notes, which is us on our last ski vacation in February.
- 4:45SPEAKER_00: It was me trying to become a better skier so that I could keep up with my older son, who has now way surpassed me in his year plus of skiing.
- 4:54SPEAKER_00: And on my lesson, I might have faceplanted and might have given myself a black eye.
- 5:01SPEAKER_00: So you'll see that um in the show notes.
- 5:05SPEAKER_00: Enjoy.
- 5:06SPEAKER_00: If you like this podcast and you found it helpful, please follow me and leave a five-star review.
