- 0:08Welcome to die sized friend Sav here.
- 0:11Ready to take this table on an adventure that requires new
- 0:14skills, new rules, and new characters too?
- 0:17This is Camp Second Chance, a four part homebrewed summer camp
- 0:23style story that uses the Role for Shoes rules system to take
- 0:26players through trials and tribulations as they work
- 0:29together to solve problems and hopefully save the day.
- 0:33All right, my luminous, legendary, lively table of loved
- 0:37ones, please introduce yourselves.
- 0:40Hita G. Hey, it's GI, am here to be
- 0:43creatively involved with my lovely family and I'm ready to
- 0:48what was it? I get to be a camp.
- 0:49Yeah, I did. You hear me back there?
- 0:51I I physically reacted to camp Second Chance.
- 0:55This is camp second chance. Camp second chance.
- 0:58Oh wow, I think I'm going to make myself right at home.
- 1:01I'm so glad to hear it. All right, Rob, how about you?
- 1:05Hi guys. God I.
- 1:06Feel again, I feel Dumber on the side, but this is me Rob, and
- 1:10not your dance today, but I will be your attendee to camp.
- 1:14Second chance. It sounds both bright and dark
- 1:18in a well named I would say as is my character.
- 1:22He's not fully shaped right now, but can I give my character name
- 1:25right now? Sure.
- 1:27Joey Trombone. Couldn't help himself.
- 1:31Couldn't help myself. Sweet, can't we?
- 1:32Yeah, I mean, I'm so excited to go to camp.
- 1:34Camp is so excited to go to you. Is it band?
- 1:36Camp. Camp's what you make it, I
- 1:39think. That's fair.
- 1:41It's not band camp. He's just in the corner, just
- 1:43playing trombone. You're.
- 1:44About to make it being. Fun fact about my character, I
- 1:46don't actually play trombone. Anyways, that's enough about
- 1:48him. Why?
- 1:49This isn't it. Never mind.
- 1:51All right, how about you, Maya? Hey, it's Maya.
- 1:53You can call me Maya. I'm very excited, mostly because
- 1:56a little birdie told me that we get worksheets and I'm so
- 2:01excited. I have many ideas floating out
- 2:04of my head and I can't wait to put them into structure.
- 2:07Amazing. It's true.
- 2:08It's true. I I need worksheets to help
- 2:10today's players keep track of their skills, which we will talk
- 2:14about more in a minute. Whoa, hey, Camp second chance.
- 2:19Camp, Second chance. Camp, second chance.
- 2:23Camp Second chance. Camping with my friends, I think
- 2:27they're my friends. They're kind of just people that
- 2:29are at camp at the same time. Camp.
- 2:32Second chance camp. Incredible.
- 2:40Off to the hottest of starts. I do want to say Rob has been
- 2:43mulling over a character as he just shared.
- 2:45I didn't share anything about the story with my friends today,
- 2:50but I did let them. Know I really like the name Joey
- 2:52Trombone. I don't know.
- 2:53I love it that they could start creating characters that sort
- 2:56of, I don't know, tickled something in them.
- 2:58So if you've never heard of Roll for Shoes, then you're in luck.
- 3:02It's one of the most straightforward rule systems
- 3:04I've ever encountered, and the cherry on top is that it makes
- 3:07for really hilarious role play, something this table clearly
- 3:12can't resist. But before I dive into the rules
- 3:15of this whole thing, let me first set the scene for you all.
- 3:22The bus smells like vinyl and regret.
- 3:26Up ahead, at the end of the seemingly endless gravel
- 3:29driveway, you see a wooden sign that reads CAMP Second Chance.
- 3:35The paint is fresh, the wood is not, and the counselor is waving
- 3:40way too enthusiastically as the bus pulls to a stop.
- 3:44Welcome to Intake day campers. Wow.
- 3:49Hell yes. My parents made me come here.
- 3:52Oh boy, why? Does it smell so weird in here?
- 3:55Probably because you haven't showered in what seems like
- 3:56days. I have showered in at least a
- 3:59day. It begins.
- 4:01OK, all right. So any thoughts?
- 4:05I think I'm already in a state of rigored nostalgia.
- 4:09We will call of being on the school bus on the way to some
- 4:12place that I don't necessarily have the I didn't make the full
- 4:16decision to go. Definitely, definitely probably
- 4:18not hear of fully your own accord.
- 4:20I've never been to conversion camp.
- 4:22I'm kind of excited. All camps are conversion camps
- 4:26of some kind. This is true.
- 4:28This is true. That's.
- 4:29True, you show up in with one set of skills and you leave with
- 4:32another. You know, I came prepared with
- 4:33the with the name, and now I'm finding my brain absolutely
- 4:36empty of any other response besides Joey Trombone is here at
- 4:40camp. He's going to find himself, I
- 4:42think. Oh.
- 4:43We're going to pick on that one. I.
- 4:45Can't wait. OK, now about those rules.
- 4:49Here's how Role for shoes works. Everyone starts with just one
- 4:54skill. Do anything one.
- 4:57If you want to try to accomplish something, you'll roll a number
- 5:00of 6 sided dice equal to your skill level.
- 5:03If the sum of your role is higher than the DC, or in some
- 5:06cases an opposing role, then you succeed in doing what you wanted
- 5:09to do. Generally, we're all familiar
- 5:11with this concept. If you roll all sixes, however,
- 5:15you don't just succeed, you also gain a new skill specific to
- 5:19what you just did, one level higher than the skill you used
- 5:23to do it. On the other hand, if you fail a
- 5:25check and miss the DC threshold, you gain 1 XP.
- 5:30Your XP can be used to change future dice rolls into a six for
- 5:34advancement purposes only, allowing you to cash them in to
- 5:37gain new skills and reach higher levels.
- 5:40In other words, this XP can't be used to help you succeed on
- 5:43ability checks, but it can grant you new abilities.
- 5:47Roll all sixes and advance your skills.
- 5:50Fail a check and you'll gain XP. Does that make sense so far?
- 5:53Yes, yes, I'm so excited to roll 666 at conversion camp.
- 6:00Inspired by Worlds Beyond Number and the fact that this table is
- 6:03full of real life support characters, I'm incorporating
- 6:07one extra rule to increase your odds and reward your generosity.
- 6:11So if you have a skill that can theoretically help another
- 6:14player succeed in whatever they're attempting to do, you
- 6:16can lend them a hand and role play accordingly to add +1 to
- 6:21their role. Only one assist per role attempt
- 6:23is allowed please. XOXO.
- 6:27Fully acknowledging that you can bully me.
- 6:31Those are the rules of role for shoes players.
- 6:34Any questions? So this is a yellow bus.
- 6:41Questions about the rules? George, I'm very excited to play
- 6:47a tabletop system where we get experience based on technically
- 6:51failure. What is?
- 6:52That Yep. So if you aren't able to succeed
- 6:55at doing what you want to do, you do get sort of to pocket XP
- 6:58to save for later. Love that that can be cashed in
- 7:01to change dice rolls into a six, which is what you need to gain a
- 7:04skill. And XP specifically adds a pip
- 7:07right? Like it adds just one one number
- 7:10to whatever you rolled. Like let's say I have a 2D6
- 7:13skill and I roll 5 and a six and then I need 2 sixes.
- 7:18I use one XP to bump that 5 to a six.
- 7:21Yes, thank you for clarifying. I would need 2 XP to bump A4 to
- 7:25A6, correct? Continuing on.
- 7:26Yep, so to level up and gain a new skill, you need all sixes.
- 7:30If you are near all sixes, you have a couple sixes and 1/4.
- 7:34Like Rob said, you can cash an XP to turn that 4 into a six.
- 7:38As a reminder, you cannot use your XP to try and pass a check.
- 7:41It's only if you'd like to gain a new skill that you can use
- 7:43your XP. Got it.
- 7:45Cool. Doesn't alter the outcome.
- 7:46Got it. So we alter the dice.
- 7:49New skill obtaining. I can't remember if this was
- 7:52optional and I this is your choice.
- 7:54Is XP shareable? Can I lend XP to boost another
- 7:58person's skill to you know, I think that's a good role play
- 8:00moment because I could inspire them to learn a lesson from that
- 8:03moment, even if they fail or success.
- 8:05I was going to say no. But I but I just did a really
- 8:08good job of persuading you. It's covered in the help action,
- 8:11isn't it? Because you would give them one
- 8:13XP anyways? Yeah.
- 8:14Well, well, the help action would help help someone succeed
- 8:18on a check that they're trying to to do.
- 8:21I'm trying to take an action. That's where your help action
- 8:23would come into play. Sharing XP would help your
- 8:26fellow table mates create a new skill.
- 8:29Unless we have to be friends. Friends if you want to give away
- 8:32XP. Yeah, I think, I think there's
- 8:34there's some sort of truth there to learning from failure from
- 8:37the friends around you for experience.
- 8:39But I think it'd be fun to run into the situation and put it up
- 8:42to a role and see if. Yeah, maybe we see when we get
- 8:45there. Yeah, cool.
- 8:46I want to see how creatively do you think you could help someone
- 8:49else potentially learn a new skill if they're just on the
- 8:52cusp. I also think potentially you'll
- 8:55all have plenty of XP. So OK, now I'm going to pass out
- 8:58your worksheets, which will help you use the Rule for Shoes rules
- 9:03system to keep track of your skills.
- 9:05It also has a little bit of space to jot on any notes about
- 9:08your character that you might want to keep track of, because
- 9:10we'll get into that next. Fun.
- 9:13Worksheet Worksheet Worksheet Worksheet Worksheet worksheet
- 9:16Oh, it has a table. I've been waiting to write down
- 9:19the name Joey Trombone. Oh my gosh, Did you make this
- 9:23with Campbell? Obviously.
- 9:26Wow, wow, wow. So for our listeners, these
- 9:31worksheets say welcome to camp Second Chance.
- 9:33They've got space to jot down name about their character,
- 9:37skill name and skill level, as well as a little space to keep
- 9:39track of XP. As soon as ink hit paper, I know
- 9:45him. I can't wait to figure out what.
- 9:48I just can't wait. What?
- 9:49Second chance. What did we fail that now we're
- 9:50here? I know.
- 9:51It's such a slap in the face, like a real good back.
- 9:54It doesn't matter. It's just the voice.
- 9:55You're moving forward. OK.
- 9:58OK. OK whoever you're I still.
- 9:59Don't know what it is. OK, goody.
- 10:01Hey. Hey, this is Joey Trump, but I
- 10:03don't know if that's about it. You so quickly go British.
- 10:09Hey, Joey Trombone. Y'all are in for some skill
- 10:15building. Whoa, yeah, those fat words.
- 10:22OK, now that we've set the scene and covered the rules, it's time
- 10:26to meet the characters of this absurd story.
- 10:29Gee, Maya and Rob were given very vague prompts this week to
- 10:33begin brainstorming a teenage troublemaker, but now that they
- 10:36know a little bit more about their setting, we'll solidify
- 10:39some details and get to know each of them a little bit
- 10:41better. I'll never pass up an
- 10:43opportunity to shine a spotlight on the way their brains bring
- 10:46characters to life. We'll start with a few questions
- 10:49and brainstorm together before eventually demonstrating the
- 10:52role for Shoes Rules System by attempting to solidify one skill
- 10:56that they'll bring with them to camp.
- 10:58Who wants to start? Please tell us your character's
- 11:01name, age, favorite hobbies, and why they were sent to camp.
- 11:05Second Chance AKA What's their brand of trouble?
- 11:10I'll start. Sure.
- 11:12Hey, it's me, Joey Trombone. Favorite hobbies?
- 11:16Well, age 19. Been held back a few times.
- 11:20Once in kindergarten, once recently.
- 11:22Not to my own devices, not to my own fault.
- 11:25I'll, I'll say that either way, I found myself here because, you
- 11:30know, I do have some hobbies that involve things such as
- 11:33crime, but it's just it's amongst the hobbies that I've
- 11:37tried. Dad's a con, Ma's an Angel owns
- 11:41a flower shop. No, I know a lot about flowers.
- 11:43I'm not going to tell anybody. I know a lot about flowers, but
- 11:46Joey Trombone, he, he reluctantly loves a garden,
- 11:50though he would say that he's not one who loves nature.
- 11:53So we'll see how he does at camp.
- 11:55Second Chance. But did he pick up smoking?
- 11:59That was the second hold back. I'm an old sounding 19.
- 12:03OK, maybe I'll, I'll try to pinch it up.
- 12:05That's perfect. Joey.
- 12:07Joey. Oh, everywhere.
- 12:08I should say. Joey Trombone's real name is
- 12:10actually Joey Spieler. But when the kids in band class
- 12:13start calling them Joey Trombone because the trombone's always
- 12:16there and Joey wasn't. Because Joey favorite hobby
- 12:19skipping band when they started calling him Joey Trombone sounds
- 12:23like Jack of all trades. He'll take that.
- 12:26But more than anything, he just doesn't like the name Spieler
- 12:28because it means con man and that's what his dad is, and he's
- 12:31ashamed of it. Let's keep on trucking.
- 12:34Oh my gosh. OK, Joey.
- 12:36So any more specifics about your brand of trouble besides what it
- 12:40sounds like is through NC and skipping class?
- 12:44Well, there, there was the one big night, the casino night they
- 12:47call it, you know, as they do with in high school, they you
- 12:50have a fundraiser and when there's money and there's
- 12:54craziness flying around my dad, it was, it was a night that I
- 12:58was going to make a name for myself and I did, just not the
- 13:00one I wanted. Q Trombone sound.
- 13:07Yeah, Maz, not happy about that one.
- 13:09And that's why I'm here. Make my proud.
- 13:11I don't know if Camp Second Chance is ready for Joey
- 13:14Trombone. It's gonna be so much trouble.
- 13:16If Joey Trombone is ready for. Joey Trombone So much trombone
- 13:20music in this Q George Trombone knows this here.
- 13:24Also major truancy. Just kind of your vibe.
- 13:29I mean, what? What can I say?
- 13:30I'm here for a lot of things. Just straight up talking about
- 13:32me in high school, yes. Yes, I did.
- 13:35I didn't realize that halfway through this character.
- 13:39The inspiration is the inspiration.
- 13:41Come on up. Who wants to go next?
- 13:45I'll go next. Hi I'm goody 2 shoes and I I'm a
- 13:544.0 student. I am a class valedictorian and
- 13:58I've really done everything I can to be the very best version
- 14:03of myself that I can be. And I don't really know why I'm
- 14:07on this bus other than when I gave my valedictorian speech, I
- 14:13did try to incite a revolution, but it was just, it was a good
- 14:17revolution. We need to change.
- 14:19And there's just something in me and I love anarchy.
- 14:23I love anarchy. But I know, I know that I should
- 14:26be. Goody 2 shoes, not Betty.
- 14:29No shoes. Keep your shoes on.
- 14:30Goody keep your shoes on. Both of them, especially at
- 14:33camp. If even if I take one off.
- 14:35All hell. All hell breaks loose.
- 14:37The world's on fire. How about yours?
- 14:41No Velcro shoes for you? Oh, you got to be triple laced.
- 14:45Buttoned did we go to the same school?
- 14:46Because I I want to know if I if I heard this manifest of speech.
- 14:50No, I don't think any of you have gone to the same school.
- 14:53Maybe you have heard stories or rumblings from neighboring
- 14:57districts or schools across the county.
- 15:00Or they arrested me. They did walk me out and they
- 15:02found all my my little pocketbook, which I do keep.
- 15:06Gasoline matches, kerosene, pretty much anything that will
- 15:09set on fire. Oh, dear.
- 15:11Oh, but I get good grades. OK, Zen.
- 15:16Chill. Just my inspiration, Zen.
- 15:22Deconstructed. Yes.
- 15:25Yeah. But yeah, my character's direct
- 15:27and extremely manipulative with a little dash of condescending
- 15:31in there. Seemingly helpful, but always
- 15:34has a another agenda to your motive.
- 15:36And I would say that the troublemaking type is chaos.
- 15:39It is OK, You know you got a calm thing on the shelf and just
- 15:43explodes randomly. So is the goody exterior, is it
- 15:47a front or are you really trying to keep it at Bay?
- 15:49It is truly trying to keep it at Bay, but it's a love and a
- 15:52passion or that other self that is just simmering.
- 15:57Let's hope we don't bubble. Over.
- 15:59I mean, I wouldn't mind it. Sounds like it.
- 16:03OK, Maya's turned. Hey.
- 16:09I'm Monte Stera, I'm 17, a junior looking really forward to
- 16:14going to college after next year.
- 16:17I come from a very well known family, the Steras.
- 16:21If you haven't heard of them, look them up.
- 16:22We're great. I'm like super uppity and posh.
- 16:26I know what's best, and I will tell you, I throw parties when
- 16:30my family's out of town. They're the best parties in the
- 16:33town. Like if you are anyone, you are
- 16:35at Monte Stiro's party. So yeah, I'm a professional
- 16:39party thrower, really good at it.
- 16:43I can't. And yeah, if you're lucky you'll
- 16:47be invited. So really not looking forward to
- 16:51Second Chance camp. I don't really know why I'm sent
- 16:55here. My parents.
- 16:56Such a power move just did not call it camp second chance.
- 17:01Second Chance Camp. I'm just simply not dressed for
- 17:06this. I do not own anything outdoorsy.
- 17:09So miss me with that. Miss me with that.
- 17:14You can borrow my shoes. Take a Take a I would rather
- 17:17die. My best friend ever is my live
- 17:25in nanny Patrice, her and I her and I plan the most spectacular
- 17:31parties and this last party, it was a real rager.
- 17:35I'm so sorry you had to miss it. But yeah, my parents did come
- 17:39home because my little brother had the flu on his school trip
- 17:43and they had to come home early. So I did get busted and I guess
- 17:46that's maybe possibly why I'm here at Second Chance Camp and
- 17:52you can all speak now. That's fucked.
- 17:55Wait. Why did you get in trouble?
- 17:59I my parents caught me throwing up rager rager.
- 18:02OK, is this a one time thing or do you have a history of?
- 18:05Oh, I've been throwing parties every time they leave.
- 18:08So my dad's a big business guy. I can't say what business
- 18:11because I did sign an NDA when I was born, but yeah, it's, it's
- 18:18really, it's legit. So he's gone all the time and my
- 18:21mom just goes with him because like, I don't know, they're like
- 18:24married or whatever. But this last one, my brother
- 18:27got sick. He goes with them because he's
- 18:29still a baby or whatever. And so he had the flu and they
- 18:33came home early and they showed up and there was like a party
- 18:35happening. And they're like, oh, why is the
- 18:37party happening? And I was like, mom, dad, all
- 18:40socialites need to throw parties.
- 18:43Like, I have to have the best people at our house.
- 18:45Like I'm doing the most for this family.
- 18:47And just no one understands me. Yeah.
- 18:51Except Patrice. Patrice gets me.
- 18:53Patrice and I are so tight. She came from Russia when I was
- 18:55like 3. I don't speak Russian.
- 18:58She did try. I did not learn it.
- 19:01Does she attend these parties? Yeah, She actually helps me
- 19:03coordinate. Yeah.
- 19:04She also didn't know that my parents were coming home that
- 19:07night. It was again the flu hit and it
- 19:09was just there's no coming back from that, you know, But you
- 19:12know, like I tell myself I'm going to second chance camp, but
- 19:17every socialite needs a good scandal.
- 19:19So I think this is going to be good PR in the long run.
- 19:22It's. Going to really put you on the
- 19:22map. It will, I think so The most
- 19:25important people were there. What college did you get into?
- 19:29I haven't applied yet, but I'm really looking forward to going
- 19:32to a really prestigious college. Prestigious college?
- 19:35That's the best college to get into.
- 19:37I know, yeah. I'm hoping that the creation of
- 19:40my secret society will just tip me over the top of my
- 19:43applications. Oh shit, did I say that out
- 19:45loud? Don't say anything, OK?
- 19:48Pinky promise. OK, I'd love if you do go both
- 19:52back up, but back up just a little bit.
- 19:54You're you're kind of crowding my bus seat.
- 19:56Yeah, no, you're right. Personal bubbles in space are
- 19:58very important. Did did you you say that you
- 20:01have a secret society? I did, but I didn't mean to, so
- 20:05maybe don't talk about it. I I have a secret society.
- 20:09Do you want to read my manifesto?
- 20:10I what don't. He's asked me 3 times.
- 20:14Yeah. There's nothing wrong with
- 20:17having a manifesto. Don't take this.
- 20:18Wrong. I like that I gave you notes.
- 20:21These are notes. Well, I mean it's.
- 20:23Just a bunch of smudges and I think this is spit.
- 20:25I have. I haven't learned handwriting.
- 20:28Don't take this the wrong way, but you don't look like the type
- 20:30that I could read your handwriting, so if you would
- 20:33have. Beautiful.
- 20:34Handwriting. What did I just say?
- 20:35Oh, his. You could read it, that's your
- 20:38problem. Not well.
- 20:39Actually, I don't know if I can read in this game, in the
- 20:41mechanics or whatever have. You rolled for that skill yet?
- 20:43I haven't, actually. We're in high school.
- 20:46I guess I could probably read. What does that say?
- 20:49I read there's a graffiti on the back of the buff seat that's.
- 20:51Oh jeez, I really. Don't want booty skill to be
- 20:55read? No, no.
- 20:56But we just. Can we just assume that I can
- 20:59read please? That is the perfect segue.
- 21:03Thanks guys. Okay, I'm so fond of these
- 21:05troublemakers already. Are you ready to try your luck
- 21:08at gaining your very first skill?
- 21:10Absolutely. I would love nothing more I.
- 21:13Can tell I'm so, so pleased and so thrilled.
- 21:17OK, who wants to go first? You will essentially tell me
- 21:20what sort of skill you think your character would arrive at
- 21:23camp with, and then you'll back it up with some narrative RP
- 21:27about how they might have attempted to gain this skill,
- 21:30and then we'll roll to see if you succeed.
- 21:33Highest GPA go first. I guess I but yeah, whatever
- 21:38man, stop looking at me like that.
- 21:39You have buggy eyes. It's the glasses, they're just
- 21:43really thick legs as I take my glasses off.
- 21:45It's the smallest eyes you've ever seen.
- 21:48That's. Why put them back on?
- 21:49Put them back on. Put the glasses back.
- 21:51I would love to bring the energy of chaos and and the skill I
- 21:59would like to bring. No, no, not chaos.
- 22:03Not chaos. I would like to bring the energy
- 22:06of persuasion in some form, and I would like to be good at camp
- 22:12games. Oh OK, good at camp games.
- 22:16Can I? Can I make that more specific
- 22:17somehow? Sure, let's hear it.
- 22:20I'd like to be good at non physical camp games.
- 22:26OK, we can call this skill. Puzzler, the puzzle solver or
- 22:32the problem? Puzzling.
- 22:33I like puzzle solving. OK, do puzzles feel like a skill
- 22:38you'd want to be good at or is that not close enough to games?
- 22:40I think puzzles works perfectly. I think I'm going to do puzzles.
- 22:44OK, so you will roll for do anything one if you get a six
- 22:47you will be able to gain puzzles 2 OK if you do not get a six you
- 22:53will gain XP in this case only. OK, knew I should have brought
- 22:58my puzzle from home. That's 6.
- 23:02And we have our first game. Oh my gosh.
- 23:05Amazing. OK, where's your trombone, Joey?
- 23:07I've never. Learned to play it.
- 23:09What did I say? I got the name because I don't
- 23:11play the trombone because I skip band class.
- 23:13That's the whole point. It's just really confusing.
- 23:15Like if you're going to be trying to create like a brand, I
- 23:17think you should probably. The whole thing on a metal level
- 23:20is that I am a Jack of all trades, but I'm never going to
- 23:23be a master of anything because here's the things we are.
- 23:26I am always running away from it.
- 23:28Hey, you guys want to see a cool trick If you slide the bit of
- 23:31this book this way in my manifesto and then you take the
- 23:33binding and you pull it here, you get the little and the
- 23:36little, the lighter pops out. Whoa, don't bring your
- 23:40manifesto. No.
- 23:41The flame is huge. I, I, I tried arson for a while.
- 23:45It wasn't for me. It's not really about the arson,
- 23:47it's that fire destroys everything.
- 23:50Oh. I hadn't thought about that.
- 23:53I just did it because it kind of kind of got your attention.
- 23:55I mean, that's and not what I wanted at all, but that's OK.
- 23:59I think revolutions typically want attention, right?
- 24:01I mean, I'd just prefer it be done, but if I have to be the
- 24:05enactor of the change, I will bring hell on earth, OK?
- 24:10Wow OK so good here you officially have puzzles too.
- 24:14Incredible. What a way to start this little
- 24:17adventure. Since you're bringing this skill
- 24:21with you to camp Goody, can you tell me a little bit about how
- 24:24you might have developed the skill prior to getting here?
- 24:28I think puzzles are the only place where I don't want to set
- 24:31everything on fire or blow things up or, you know, convince
- 24:36people to riot. I, I think it's a, it's a good
- 24:39place for me to put things together and not tear them
- 24:40apart. And so I've done every single
- 24:44puzzle that exists in my city. I just, I had a library.
- 24:51Wow, in a puzzle library. Just for puzzles.
- 24:53Just for puzzles. They know you well there.
- 24:55No. Oh, I stole them.
- 24:58Oh, what am I making? Yes, yes, theft.
- 25:03Maybe we'll try for that scale next.
- 25:05Hey, I was raised with a morally Gray, Gray background, so maybe
- 25:08you were too. I didn't say that.
- 25:10You can't put it past us, right? I mean.
- 25:12Morals only get you as far as they do.
- 25:15That's what I'm saying. Like my dad always says, you got
- 25:18to know the person so you can take all take everything that
- 25:21person's worth and their morals. Go away.
- 25:23Would you like to attempt to explain what skill you're coming
- 25:27to camp with next? Yes, I think I am ready.
- 25:31Would you allow me to go for something like flowery?
- 25:35Because I think I'm good with flowers and my dad's also good
- 25:37at conning people. So I think I'm I would, I would
- 25:40love if my skill could be flowery.
- 25:43That's two skills. I would love if my skill could
- 25:45be flowery fine. Because you'll need to describe
- 25:49what your skill does. Fine, well I think it it helps
- 25:52me with flowers and helps me con people. 2.
- 25:55Skills. That's fine.
- 25:58OK. I would like to con people.
- 26:01OK, you want to roll for. Con yeah, My my dad, I think is
- 26:04he's like I said, like I said, I got a bad reputation.
- 26:08I don't like the last name is Peeler because my old man, he's,
- 26:11he's a gambling addict, OK, He's a little bit of a card shark.
- 26:15Has he tried puzzles? He should, because he can't
- 26:17fucking stay away from the table, am I right?
- 26:19I wonder if any casinos have puzzles?
- 26:21Oh, they should. Competitive puzzling.
- 26:23No, I I would. No, they don't.
- 26:26No. I would also go for cards
- 26:28because that's how my dad conned people's cards.
- 26:32OK sweet, would you like to roll to see if we can develop the
- 26:34skill cards? I would love to all.
- 26:37Right. Roll 1D6.
- 26:39You're rolling for do anything one and if you succeed with A6.
- 26:44That's just A5. So close you can bring all your
- 26:49love for cards and counting people to camp with you, but you
- 26:53won't be able to level that skill up quite yet.
- 26:56Do does he get XP? Like my dad said, I can't do it
- 26:58with these fumbling fingers. That's why he put me in band
- 27:00class, said Joey. Learn the guitar.
- 27:02Just fingers will be nimbled then.
- 27:03Then they'll teach you the deck, I'll teach you the bottom deal,
- 27:06I'll teach you to the top deal. And then maybe even it's the
- 27:09second deal, middle deal, but you know, I never got there.
- 27:12You chose trombone, which is arguably the least fingers
- 27:15needed. For well.
- 27:17Fingers. I knew I wouldn't be there.
- 27:19OK, I'm trying to figure out what I'm good at and I know it's
- 27:23not trombone so why even try? Have you tried overthrowing your
- 27:32government? I think that's a tuba, isn't it?
- 27:33Or is that a Trump? No, that's a trombone.
- 27:35You want it to be Johnny Trombone.
- 27:36It's a trombone. That was really that was really
- 27:39good. I don't.
- 27:40I don't go to band class so I wouldn't know.
- 27:44Oh, amazing. So sorry, Joey.
- 27:46All right, Monty, what's killer you hoping to bring to camp?
- 27:50I am hoping to bring Hostess with the mostess.
- 27:53Wow, I love it. OK, yeah, I'm hoping that this
- 27:55skill helps to make camp more bearable and maybe I can just,
- 28:00you know, give them a little insight on how to, like, throw a
- 28:04group shenanigan. You know I'm coining that term a
- 28:07group shenanigan. Love it.
- 28:09Should we call the skill group shenanigan?
- 28:11No, I think Hostess with mostess.
- 28:13I'm in, I'm into it. Let's see.
- 28:15Roll 1D6 for roll anything one or do anything one. 11.
- 28:22You know I got caught in one so. I love how the stupidest skill
- 28:26got the skill. I got blessed due to puzzles.
- 28:31Puzzles can like not just like, you know, piece a puzzle
- 28:33together, but you can do Rubik's Cube.
- 28:34You can do like, you know what camp they have those like you're
- 28:37in a team and you have to figure out how to go through.
- 28:38It's slowly in survivor mode. I was like, I'm preparing for
- 28:41the the last game and it's going to be a freaking puzzle into it.
- 28:45All right, Monty, so sad that you won't be able to bring your
- 28:48Hostess with the mostest skills with you to camp, but you will
- 28:51bring all your knowledge and have plenty more chances to see
- 28:55if you can advance those skills. Joey as well.
- 28:58And we got a couple of XP points, right?
- 29:00Yeah. You know you could toss an extra
- 29:021 on top because like what I mean it's on first scale.
- 29:04Feels really bad though, my dad good.
- 29:09You see, you see a motorcycle bull up next to the the bus.
- 29:12It's like Joey, you forgot your lunch.
- 29:15Oh, Joey Ma, the flowers are going to will.
- 29:18It's pasta, you know that. The whole shop is filled with
- 29:21that special kind of flour that we spayed and paid all of our
- 29:24money for that the misters are going to go out.
- 29:28You throw it, Joey, you ditch your what?
- 29:31OK, I'll tell you, get home and check out the misters.
- 29:35I love you, Joey. Say it back.
- 29:37I love you Ma. Check out the misters.
- 29:41The misters. The misters.
- 29:43Tell me about the misters. Well, because mom got a special
- 29:46type of flower because she's really into flowers.
- 29:48And I mean, she wasn't into flowers last month, but now
- 29:50she's into flowers. And so we've been learning all
- 29:52about them and she bought all these fucking flowers and we
- 29:55don't know what to do with the fucking flowers that really,
- 29:58fuck, I really dig all the water, man.
- 30:00I don't know. I'll keep you in mind for my
- 30:02next party. I could use a florist.
- 30:05Oh, that's actually so The thing is, I.
- 30:07Could solve all of your problems.
- 30:09The thing is that your name actually sounds like a lot like
- 30:11the favorite flower. Yeah, yeah, Montecera.
- 30:15Oh. That's not a flower, but thank
- 30:18you. I was named after a cylindron.
- 30:20It's not. A skill I have yet so.
- 30:23Yeah, it came to me in a dream when I was staring at my
- 30:25Monstera plant. Oh, that's what I was thinking
- 30:29about. Yeah, yeah.
- 30:30Could I give a speech? No.
- 30:32Dear God, no, because you're going to, you're going to one up
- 30:36my secret society with your wife, I just said.
- 30:38Your name back at you. You did.
- 30:44I'm feeling inspired. Joey and Monty, do you want to
- 30:48try to roll to bring a different skill to the table?
- 30:52I would owe a different skill. I would go for flowers this time
- 30:56because I maybe, maybe this this inspires me to read the rest of
- 30:59my book that has all these. You're gonna roll 1D6, do
- 31:02anything one and we'll see if you can roll A6.
- 31:04That's a three. Bummer.
- 31:07I would like to try to roll from memory, OK, because every good
- 31:10socialite remembers everything about everyone at their parties.
- 31:13All right, I love it. No, I don't want to.
- 31:18Are we got a six? OK, Monty, with the six we've
- 31:22got. Remember your mother from No
- 31:24shit. I'll remember your mom for my
- 31:26next party. I'll remember your mother.
- 31:29I don't. You do 1 scene of that access
- 31:32and everybody's on. IT bus ride sucks.
- 31:35Hey, Monty's got memory skill level 2.
- 31:39It's Yeah, Well, yeah. Well, the Joey Trombone's got 2
- 31:42XP. What do you got?
- 31:43Joey, you're going to have to pick another skill and try and
- 31:47bring it to camp. It just seems fair at this point
- 31:49that you all get one. My dad's a, my dad's a con Maza,
- 31:55maza maza. Like flowers.
- 31:56I don't know what you want. What is?
- 31:58What do you want? Isn't it?
- 32:01Don't answer the question too hard.
- 32:02You might want to blow everything up though.
- 32:03You could try to read Roll for reading.
- 32:07Only if it can be read people too.
- 32:10It could be read people, period. And to be honest, it doesn't
- 32:15seem like Joey would actually be very good at that.
- 32:19No, but what? If you roll for trombone and get
- 32:23a six. I don't want to roll for
- 32:24trombone. It's a whole character.
- 32:25It's a little trombone at the. End.
- 32:27Do you have a trombone with you at camp?
- 32:30I know I'd like to. I'd like to roll for whistling.
- 32:35All right, why? Because it's it's it's helping
- 32:38me practice the purse in the lips thing that you need to do
- 32:41for trombone. The ambisher.
- 32:43The ambisher. Yeah, that's a word I know now
- 32:45because I'm. I'm practicing whistling.
- 32:48All right, roll for whistling. You're going to roll 1D6.
- 32:52Do anything one and we'll see if you can get a six.
- 32:57That's a one. I want so badly to give Joey a
- 33:01skill to arrive at camp. I got 3 XP I get right here.
- 33:05I'll roll one more time for. Let's see, let's think about
- 33:07this. What our players don't know is
- 33:09that XP will not roll over into the next session.
- 33:12I should really fucking use that.
- 33:13I just got to roll better than A1, don't I?
- 33:17OK, so so seeing as seeing as this can't go badly and it it
- 33:20didn't go badly on casino night because let's be honest, I was
- 33:23hoping to put this on the back burner, but there was a bit of a
- 33:26demolition aspect to the whole night.
- 33:28You got to make a distraction somehow.
- 33:29So demolitions. That's a four and I'll use two
- 33:33of my XP to make it a six baby. Oh.
- 33:36My gosh, you. Are my best friend.
- 33:40I mean, I know how to make things go boom.
- 33:42I don't know how to fucking read or do anything else, but I know
- 33:47how to fucking make something go boom.
- 33:49Has anyone ever contracted you for authority buildings?
- 33:52What? What does contract mean?
- 33:53I don't know. I don't know big words longer
- 33:55than 5. All right.
- 33:57Joey Trombone was going to be a sweet man who liked flowers, and
- 34:00now he's. He can.
- 34:02It's second chance. Camp Camp.
- 34:04Second chance. That's right, you're right.
- 34:06That was my character creation moment.
- 34:08You're right. Thank you for saving that for
- 34:09me. It's giving art.
- 34:12You know Joey, your mother will always show up when you need.
- 34:16It. I could really twist this into
- 34:19something gold. I feel like you fucking are
- 34:21going to and I hate it. Could you make me something?
- 34:28I could try. OK.
- 34:32Oddly sexual I don't. Know what's going on?
- 34:34Beaming. Fuck, that's.
- 34:37What I was? Going to say beaming at you.
- 34:40Though it's the tough in this case I had to face.
- 34:45I'm worried he's determined to anarchy don't follow his.
- 34:53Lead. Initially I was going to be a
- 34:56character like that. Initially I was going to be.
- 34:57Then I was going to be Glinda, and now I'm like Bach.
- 34:59What? The.
- 35:00Fuck happened. I hate this guy.
- 35:03That's what Bach. Is saying to himself right now.
- 35:06Am I eligible? Maybe you'll be good at
- 35:12brooming. Brooming.
- 35:16I'm gonna broom. I'm gonna try it.
- 35:17Well, I'm gonna try to fly. I'm gonna definitely try to make
- 35:19magic a thing for sure. Like, at least like some sort of
- 35:22partial subtle kind of magic, right?
- 35:24I don't know. I wanted to buy Gravity.
- 35:29Don't we all? Yeah.
- 35:30None of you, none of you can fly as of yet.
- 35:33I can't imagine a world where any should be.
- 35:35Flying. You can't fly.
- 35:39Everyone deserves a chance. But I can do demolitions as a
- 35:43high schooler. Yeah, I love this game.
- 35:46Fucking puzzles, I mean. It's not that hard, you just
- 35:49have to find a load bearing beam.
- 35:52We've had a lot of house renovations.
- 35:54The new guest house just went up.
- 35:56I learned a lot from the construction worker.
- 35:57Yeah. I mean, yeah, you learn a lot
- 36:00from open concept, am I right? They were contracted.
- 36:04Oh, that's what I got it. Got it.
- 36:07Context, Context. I was into a context when you
- 36:09said that, so my brain just misfired.
- 36:12OK, Goody is arriving at camp with puzzles, Joey with
- 36:16demolition, and Monty with memory.
- 36:19I'd like for each of you to use your skill to attempt to do
- 36:23something on the bus. Before we get off.
- 36:27You really want me to do that? Well, you've got to get out
- 36:32somehow, and the bus driver is a little old, little, not so
- 36:37technologically savvy. He's been driving a bus for a
- 36:39long time, but as soon as he pulled a stop, he fell asleep.
- 36:43So you're kind? Of yeah, hey, hey, goody, goody.
- 36:47I got AI, got AI, got a real puzzle.
- 36:48For you, I love them. I mean, how best do you think we
- 36:53can use this? And I and you, you look down and
- 36:56you see that Joey Trombone has some sort of fuselit that is
- 37:03sparked and going. I I just, I mean, I, I didn't
- 37:08think it was going to go away. I kept.
- 37:09Oh, distraction. Throw it out the window.
- 37:12Oh, that should work. And I think I I'm going to go
- 37:15first, throw it out the window, but I'm, I'm asking him to help
- 37:17me with this puzzle, so. Is is it?
- 37:20Is it? Is it?
- 37:21Oh, yeah. OK.
- 37:22But I would love, well, everyone's distracted to tie
- 37:25everyone's shoelaces together. Okay, I would consider that a
- 37:28puzzle for sure, as would I consider throwing an explosive
- 37:32out the window to be demolition. They're they're knots with no
- 37:35conscious. I'm just making loops and
- 37:36pulling. It will allow Buddy to give Joey
- 37:40the help action at the same time.
- 37:42Cool, we're giving vice versa, yes.
- 37:44Yeah. You're awesome.
- 37:46Dual help action Dual help. Action so you each will get plus
- 37:49one to your role, but you will each be able to use those
- 37:51skills, demolition and puzzles to roll since your level is
- 37:5522-D6 to try and achieve a certain DCI.
- 37:59Will exclude my new friends and I'm pretty sure you have heels
- 38:03on anyway. Of course, no proper lady leaves
- 38:06the house without heels. If it's less than 1/2 inch it
- 38:10doesn't count. Hey, that's just a four for me.
- 38:13Wait, does the bomb just blow up in the bus?
- 38:162D6. Oh no, you're right.
- 38:18I got to roll two of them. Stupid Ed.
- 38:20You rolled 22. Yeah, I rolled A5 and A6.
- 38:23Amazing. That's a one and a three.
- 38:27So still a four. That's crazy on 2 nights.
- 38:29Your explosive Peter's out. Oh thank God, that actually
- 38:33worked out really well in my favorite.
- 38:35A goodie. Those double knots are stronger
- 38:37than anyone has experienced to date because with the addition
- 38:40of Joey's help, you got a perfect 12 on to die.
- 38:45Amazing. I think I tie knots in
- 38:47everyone's shoes and or everyone's shoelaces and then
- 38:52you don't see me though and I'm just sweating profusely when you
- 38:55see me next. That was so much fun.
- 38:58Fun. OK, well, the vibe in here is
- 39:02kind of a bummer. Monty's going to stand up and,
- 39:05like, brush the dust that isn't on her skirt, but she's just
- 39:09going to like, really make a point to, like, brush herself
- 39:12off when she stands up because this bus is built.
- 39:14I don't know how they can get away with this.
- 39:16This is why I always had Patrice drive me to school.
- 39:19And she's going to click the clack up to the bus driver and
- 39:23had heard him on the phone with his wife earlier, like while
- 39:26driving. And she had said because of
- 39:29course, old man, his wife was on speakerphone, and so she had
- 39:33reminded him to take his blood pressure medication.
- 39:36So she walks up and taps him on the shoulder and says, Excuse
- 39:39me, Richard was your name? Yeah, just reminding you that
- 39:43Gladys did tell you to take your blood pressure medication.
- 39:45I just didn't want you to forget.
- 39:47Have a nice day And will I just? Walk off the bus.
- 39:50OK, amazing. So is the goal here to wake him
- 39:53up so that he can open the bus door?
- 39:55Yeah. OK, let's see it.
- 39:56So you will will roll 2D6 with your memory skill.
- 40:00And I'm hoping with like the medication I'm trying to get an
- 40:02in, I'm trying to be like I'm I'm helping you.
- 40:04I'm, you know better, the favorite.
- 40:08Yeah. Oh, A4 and A5.
- 40:11That's a nine that will pass the check.
- 40:14Yay. It might not level you up the
- 40:15skill, but it will pass. The check for.
- 40:17Sure. OK, so the bus doors are open.
- 40:21Your shoes are not tied together.
- 40:23Monty. Joey, your shoes are not tied
- 40:25together. I can't imagine Goody that you
- 40:27tied your own shoelaces together.
- 40:29I took them off. Your shoelaces or your shoes?
- 40:32My shoes. We're not rolling for shoes
- 40:34today. I I think the one thing he said
- 40:38was don't take his fucking shoes off.
- 40:40I look at Joey, I'm like, you can call me baddie.
- 40:42Whoa. This is we.
- 40:43I don't I'm not sure about this. Quick run and I run through the
- 40:48the bus into that hold. For shoes cuz I want to put
- 40:50shoes on this. Fucking kid.
- 40:51Oh my God, we're making a break for it.
- 40:53Is there anything else Joey or Monty you would like to do
- 40:57before you exit the bus as it sounds like Goody just made a
- 41:00break for it? Well, baddie's breaking baddie,
- 41:03you said. He's broken.
- 41:04Bad. I broke.
- 41:06Broken Batty I I'm I've already I'm off the bus.
- 41:10OK, can I do anything besides the skill I have?
- 41:14Like I I guess I have to do anything one all the time, right
- 41:17you. Have do anything one at all
- 41:18times. OK, it's just surprisingly
- 41:21there's not much you can do with bombs and.
- 41:23Evolution involves so much more than bombs.
- 41:26Oh, you're right, you're right. I just gotta think outside the
- 41:28box but somehow in it. Think outside the bomb.
- 41:31All right, well, I'd like to in the midst of this, use the
- 41:35distraction of all this kerfuffle and the and the bus
- 41:38driver just waking up to pickpocket him for anything
- 41:41useful. Amazing.
- 41:42Do you think this is pickpocket or a sleight of hand Pickpocket?
- 41:45Because OK, I'll go for pickpocket.
- 41:47You're picking those. Pockets.
- 41:48Should I go for sleight of hand like my dad is a common?
- 41:51I mean, I'm just trying to give you a slide.
- 41:53Okay, I'll go for pick you. Can go for pickpocket.
- 41:56And I'm using do anything one for this, so I'll just roll D6.
- 42:00Hey, that's a three. But do I have three XP?
- 42:03No I just I just got 2 now I got 3 XP.
- 42:06Three XP. That's it.
- 42:09Does a three? Does a three pass?
- 42:11No. You have an unexploded bomb
- 42:13under your seat and everyone's shoes are tied together.
- 42:15Great. So your shoes are tied together.
- 42:19My end in your bucket. My other end's holding this
- 42:21bomb. What?
- 42:23What, what? What happened to you?
- 42:24I think it's time to get off the bus.
- 42:26Is that what he says to me? Who?
- 42:27The driver, he fell back. Asleep yo-yo, Thank God.
- 42:33He should have remembered his blood pressure medication
- 42:35Richard, he didn't take Monty's advice.
- 42:38All right, well, I'm off and I walk off the bus.
- 42:40I've been learning nothing from the situation.
- 42:43Sorry. Monty, how about you?
- 42:47I think she's just aggressively straightening her clothes and
- 42:50just disgruntled about the state of things and that now we're on
- 42:55like I what I assume is gravel or grass or God forbid dirt.
- 42:59As you descend the stairs, yeah, you make your grand entrance to
- 43:02camp. And her heels instantly sink and
- 43:05she is just pissed. I think she's.
- 43:08Like I'm walking here. I have to put my shoes back on
- 43:12and you see Goody right next to you, put socks over her muddy
- 43:15feet and then stick them into the shoes and look at you and
- 43:19say that was fun. I hadn't walked away.
- 43:22Noted. That sounds horrific.
- 43:27Anyways, I'm sorry. Heels constantly just falling
- 43:31into the grass. It should have been a pump day.
- 43:37I am so shocked at how how well you're wearing this Maya I.
- 43:42Shocked. I mean, thanks.
- 43:47It's so many qualities that you don't carry.
- 43:50Yeah, you're rocking it. Thank you.
- 43:53Crushing, crushing it. I I think Joey would go to help
- 43:58like because seeing that you're like literally getting stuck in
- 44:00the mud, like would go and like thinks to himself like chivalry
- 44:04honor, and then his own shoes that are loosely united, like
- 44:08gets, I imagine, like converse that are like way too open.
- 44:12They get also get stuck in the mud and he like literally has to
- 44:15help himself instead. I was picturing you putting a
- 44:17jacket down, picking it up, putting a jacket down the.
- 44:21Floor is lava. Joey doesn't let a lady just
- 44:23walk in the mud on her heels. Puncturing his jacket with my
- 44:26heels. And each step.
- 44:28That is. That's cannon now, yeah.
- 44:30I'll send you a bill for that, sorry.
- 44:32I'll send you a pill for that. I'm saying you're paying me for
- 44:35destroying your jacket. I'm realizing that it's not just
- 44:38like it's not just good that's going to be woefully in love
- 44:41with the crazy out of our league girl.
- 44:43I'm just going to be. I'm going to be quiet about it.
- 44:46I, I'm you're in love with her. I want to be better than her.
- 44:50Oh, that's that's. A form of love.
- 44:52Fine, I guess. I fucking love you.
- 44:56Weird, weirdly intense with. That our campers exit the bus to
- 45:03a view of camp. The sun is setting the way it
- 45:07only does at summer camp. Too orange, too dramatic.
- 45:13Like it's trying to convince someone that this place is pure
- 45:16and good and right. Camp Second Chance settles into
- 45:20its first evening. All right, campers, as you go to
- 45:23claim your bunks, can you tell me about a couple of weird
- 45:26things you might have brought from home or some of the quirky
- 45:29habits that you're going to use to set up your your bunk that
- 45:32you've chosen? Do we think we can roll to see
- 45:35who goes first? I'll roll for top bunk.
- 45:38Let's see, that's a 2 on my D6. So one for Monty.
- 45:44That's a six. I told you it's hell.
- 45:47I'm you broke baddie. I only break bad every once in a
- 45:51while and that's how I get by. I get the jitters out.
- 45:53You can't let the teachers know. OK, I won't go to your school
- 45:57and tell your teachers. Goody climbs up to the top bunk
- 46:00and you. Would be a top bunker.
- 46:03Yeah, I climb up to the top bunk and I put my puzzle that is of
- 46:08very sadly of my my home that I used to have as a kid before my
- 46:14my parents once I died in the car wreck.
- 46:20I'm Spiderman. My my parents just work a lot
- 46:27and they're not around. I know it's fun for Monty, but
- 46:30this is all I have and I put the puzzle over in the corner and
- 46:34then my box of matches that just has a weird cigar signature on
- 46:39there in the front. How do you think you snuck your
- 46:41box of matches and your other Anarchy supplies past the bag
- 46:46check? I have a little puzzle zipper
- 46:49inside of my bag that if you have to twist the zipper and
- 46:52pull it out and then slide it across and then a secret little
- 46:55compartment opens up. Fancy.
- 46:56I thought you said you were gonna keep them all in your box
- 46:59that your puzzle is in because no one would suspect that they
- 47:02were in this puzzle box. But I like that even better.
- 47:06Correct me if I'm wrong, it sounds like your puzzle is a
- 47:08custom puzzle of your home. Yes, it's a picture.
- 47:11Wow, love that. Did you make it?
- 47:12Did you have a Commission? I think it came from a gift from
- 47:18a parent that thought it would be a nice thing to have because
- 47:21I they weren't going to be around and it was something that
- 47:24they they got for another person but was given to me.
- 47:27I'm imagining it was like for a a friend of the family or
- 47:31something and like, oh, it's your birthday.
- 47:33Oops. And give it give it to me a.
- 47:35Free. Gifted.
- 47:37That's sweet. There's a reason that I try so
- 47:40hard at things. Your parents.
- 47:42Approval. I just yeah, you want to.
- 47:46Give hey, buddy, I mean, we've been there.
- 47:48We all been there, right? It's I mean.
- 47:50I have not been there. Your parents don't love you
- 47:52either. And earlier, did you say that
- 47:54you named yourself? No.
- 47:57OK, I could have sworn you said I was looking at a plant.
- 48:02Yeah, I think that was a 4th wall break of Maya.
- 48:04She kind of breaks into my brain sometimes, generally.
- 48:07I also thought it would just be fucking hilarious if she had
- 48:09renamed herself, but I. Understand no Stara is a family
- 48:13name and I intend to keep. It got it.
- 48:14Yes, many stares. Yes, they're very wealthy.
- 48:16I understand. NDA at birth.
- 48:19Anyways. NDA at birth.
- 48:21I mean, yeah, a lot of crazy things happen at birth for you.
- 48:23So I was wondering we. All set stuff in their bunk.
- 48:27Is it me next guy? You roll the two.
- 48:29You roll the 10. Jesus Christ.
- 48:32All right, yeah, you can see that I got a like I said, well,
- 48:35I also care about my parents approval and.
- 48:37Top bunk or bottom bunk? Well, I'm, I obviously got to
- 48:41stretch out, so I got to go bottom bunk because I don't want
- 48:43to, but I meant I'm tall. I'm a tall guy.
- 48:45I, I sound like I'm 39, but I'm just a tall 19 with a deep voice
- 48:52in the, in that accent. I can't quite believe this.
- 48:56And what makes you such a good con?
- 48:57Man, exactly. I'm like you.
- 48:59Never sound the same. Never sound the same.
- 49:01I could be from Brooklyn. I could be from Brooklyn.
- 49:04Are there cell phones in this? Joey, it's your mother.
- 49:07Oh God, ma, you said they said no cell phones.
- 49:09No, idiot. It's the it's the pay phone on
- 49:12the wall. She's called the Cabin.
- 49:14Oh God, ma. Is that dude's mom calling him?
- 49:18That is so embarrassing. I just, I just was.
- 49:20Wondering if you ate the pasta yet?
- 49:22Ma I, I, I I I. Yeah, that has not been
- 49:25refrigerated. I would not suggest eating.
- 49:27Pasta I I you said that. Put her on the phone.
- 49:30Put her on the. Phone.
- 49:32This is my This is my friend Monty.
- 49:35You leave my boy and his pasta alone, you witch.
- 49:39I would never dream of eating your lovely son's pasta.
- 49:43What did you say your name again was?
- 49:45My name is Stella Wheeler Spieler.
- 49:49Stella Spieler. Stella Spieler.
- 49:52Oh my gosh. Well, Joey here talks so much
- 49:56about your flowers and I just can't wait to maybe do business
- 49:59with you in the future. I can't believe you just told
- 50:01another man your first name, that's insane.
- 50:04Another man. Sorry.
- 50:06Excuse me. I forgot.
- 50:08I forgot. Sorry.
- 50:09You're right. Never mind.
- 50:10Joey, it sounds like this is a lovely lady.
- 50:13You treat her right. Yeah.
- 50:14I'm sorry for calling you a witch, honey.
- 50:16It's OK, I forgive you. Your son is great, by the way.
- 50:19OK. She punctured a bunch of holes
- 50:21in my Jack of mine. You'll be proud.
- 50:22She'll be proud. Share some of your pasta and let
- 50:25that go. Punch as many holes as she needs
- 50:27to do in your jacket. She sounds lovely.
- 50:29All right, well, you're obviously Italian, but I don't
- 50:31know what I am yet. I'm Italian.
- 50:34Dad, Bronx. Go Jerry Seinfeld's on.
- 50:39OK, you guys stop watching that show.
- 50:41He's a pretty bad guy. OK, never mind.
- 50:46Oh, your bunk. Sounds great.
- 50:48Tell me more about your bunk, Joey.
- 50:50I got it. I got a bunch of decks of cards
- 50:52that. The way you even do.
- 50:59That well, you know. A bunch of decks of cars and of
- 51:02course I got books on flowers because I was going to bring all
- 51:04my flowers here. But you know, I first of all,
- 51:07I'm a reluctant gardener. OK, I don't like it.
- 51:10But once you got if you got to keep them alive and I guess I'm
- 51:13just good at it or whatever. Can I roll for green thumb?
- 51:15Next time. Oh God.
- 51:17Well, I got flowers and cards and, you know, a picture of my
- 51:21mom or whatever. I'm honestly sort of also
- 51:25shocked at how well you're portraying the.
- 51:29This is it's working. It's.
- 51:31Working. Yeah, just please your mom.
- 51:36Just keep showing up again. What?
- 51:38You're doing. I just wanted to be next to you,
- 51:41sweetie. I'm going to pick the top bunk
- 51:42you could. Be on the bottom bunk.
- 51:44This is weird. This is weird.
- 51:45OK, Ma, you gotta leave. You gotta leave I.
- 51:47Brought my public 90. It's OK, everyone's going to be
- 51:51fine. I got them all strapped in,
- 51:52nothing's. Falling out.
- 51:53Yeah, Ma, it cannot be cannon that you were here.
- 51:58You gotta go. Stop calling Wow.
- 52:05Do your bed sheets still smell like the laundry soap she uses?
- 52:10Well, I mean, no, because these are my bed.
- 52:13These are my bed sheets. Oh, does she do my laundry?
- 52:16Is that what you're asking? Yeah, of course she does my
- 52:18laundry. Fucking questions that.
- 52:25Take us home, Monty. Tell us about your bunk
- 52:27situation. The fuck is that?
- 52:33Oh God OK new vocal sting unlocked.
- 52:38So Monty, I'm assuming is this a Coed cabin as?
- 52:42Dumb as it is, it. Sure is.
- 52:47Monty looks around, shutters in her little Louis Vuittons, and
- 52:52walks over to bottom bunk that a kid is already setting up and
- 52:56it's like you're going to have to take the top.
- 52:58I'm sorry, you'll understand when you're older, but just
- 53:01please, this is mine now, thank you.
- 53:03Why? I I've already got my stuff set.
- 53:05Up. Don't care, set it up upstairs.
- 53:07Who are you? It you'll know.
- 53:10OK. You'll know.
- 53:13Starts packing up and stuff. Would you be a sweetheart?
- 53:17So then she takes out her sheets that she brought from home.
- 53:20They're like Corley Kichi, so bright and lovely, totally
- 53:27clashing with whatever Feng shui is happening in this room.
- 53:30None, none. Feng Shui.
- 53:34Pretty sure that's the mouse droppings in the corner, but
- 53:35we're not going to talk about it.
- 53:36Yep. Yeah.
- 53:38So she very flowery. She brought some extra throw
- 53:41pillows. She's got it all set up.
- 53:43She rolls her luggage in and it actually has like a pop up top
- 53:48that pops into a vanity. So she has a whole like makeup
- 53:53set up with a vanity mirror with the lights and everything
- 53:56battery powered. That's pretty fucking.
- 53:57Bright Lady. Well, it won't be on all the
- 53:59time, just at 6:00 AM when I start my skin care routine.
- 54:02OK, it's, it's OK. It's, it's direct, all right,
- 54:05whatever. It's OK, I'm up at 6:00 right in
- 54:07my manifesto. Do you want if I use?
- 54:08If you want skin like this, you would understand that it takes
- 54:11work and dedication and proper lighting.
- 54:15What do you want? My contour to not blend into my
- 54:18neck. My contour into my neck.
- 54:20I obviously don't do makeup. My foundation into my neck.
- 54:24Lady, the one thing I know about contour is it's not the word
- 54:26contract, which I learned just today.
- 54:28You think I know the word contour?
- 54:29Oh. My God, I'm already sweating.
- 54:31She's like powdering her face, just looking around, just
- 54:35appalled, trying to like like inspect the like, drapes on the
- 54:40cabin window. Just like, oh, and like, dust
- 54:44poofs off of everything. And she's just like, it's just
- 54:47one summer. It's just one.
- 54:49It's just one thing. You know, every socialite needs
- 54:51a scandal. This is yours.
- 54:53Pull it together, Monty. Pull it together.
- 54:55You hear scribbling above the top bunk.
- 54:57The people will rise and fight. Oh gosh.
- 55:05Oh no. This is going to be a long
- 55:06summer. Did Goody end up on your top
- 55:09bunk? Sounds like it.
- 55:13Do I have a bunk mate? I was picturing being over.
- 55:16Yeah, I feel like I shooed the purse on the bottom bunk up to
- 55:18the top, but I in my bottom bunk, have a Direct Line of
- 55:21sight to Goody and Joey. We're like across the cabin on
- 55:25the bunk. Beds I also are there other kids
- 55:28here? Yeah, that's amazing.
- 55:29I that just blew my brain open as soon as you shoot someone.
- 55:32I was like, Oh my God, not all these fucking kids.
- 55:34Who are these kids? They're like.
- 55:36Your age and you're like I'm. Gay.
- 55:38I'm an old 19. I've been held back a few times.
- 55:41We don't say that you're an old 19 too many times.
- 55:44A little creepy. Superseded.
- 55:45Maybe your dad is the con man like did some tricks to get you
- 55:48into the camp because it is only 18.
- 55:51Well, you're old 17 I. Mean, let's be honest, he was
- 55:54trying to do me a favor. He thought it was gonna, he
- 55:55thought it was gonna put me ahead in life, being the big
- 55:57king in class, but it just made me dumb.
- 55:59That made you dumb. I think so.
- 56:01Not smarter. I don't think.
- 56:03Twice. Twice doing it.
- 56:04Do it one more time. Didn't.
- 56:06OK, no. You don't.
- 56:07Well, I mean I I guess. Older, wiser, You know what they
- 56:09say. Can't all be me.
- 56:11I know how to not read really well.
- 56:13Head pops down from the top bunk.
- 56:15Joey, how much TNT to displace the water in the lake?
- 56:182 tons. Perfect goes back up.
- 56:23Wait, how much? What was your question?
- 56:24I didn't even hear. It how much TNT to displace the
- 56:26water in the lake? Yeah, 2 tons I would say. 2 tons
- 56:30of. TNT to displace the water in a
- 56:33lake 2. Tons.
- 56:36Yeah, I think so. How big's the lake?
- 56:39Lake Superior. Exactly that's I'm thinking.
- 56:43I'm thinking of a Big Lake I guess.
- 56:45Tons. YouTube.
- 56:46YouTube. Google.
- 56:48No one's blowing up two tons of TNT anywhere but the that.
- 56:52The people blowing up dude on the DND.
- 56:54My dad did it last. I mean, I cannot suppose talk
- 56:56about that. It was at the NDA you signed.
- 56:59I don't. I don't if you talk about the.
- 57:01Common thread here at camp. You've all signed NDA.
- 57:04And you've all broken down. That's why you're here, no?
- 57:10Back over your head, back over your head, back over your.
- 57:12Head, you know 2 tons you'll get a mushroom cloud that's for
- 57:15sure. The Eiffel Tower.
- 57:17You could explode the Eiffel. Tower. 2 tons.
- 57:20Okay wow this is a whole comparison video.
- 57:22Fun. Okay, not sending this to Goody.
- 57:25Little plug. Go YouTube TNT. 2 tons of DNT is
- 57:29a lot and it can displace a lake.
- 57:31I'll tell you that. I went high and that's that's
- 57:33because I didn't want to be wrong.
- 57:34Not not the goody, not for goody he he deserves.
- 57:37That too much than not exactly. Especially when it comes to
- 57:40demolitions. OK.
- 57:47So dumb, it's so amazing. Wow.
- 57:50OK, so to recap, we've got Goody on the top bunk riding in his
- 57:55her. There, there manifesto.
- 57:58Goody top bunk riding in their manifesto directly above Joey,
- 58:03down below, pondering his reuniting with mom at the end of
- 58:08camp. Maybe directly across the tiny
- 58:11hallway from Monty, who's in the bottom bunk prepping her makeup
- 58:16station, having recently scared the kid in the bunk above her.
- 58:21Incredible. The cabins creak as campers
- 58:25claim bunks. Laughter pops in the distance.
- 58:29Counselors move through the dusky haze with clipboards and
- 58:33tired smiles. And somewhere near the center of
- 58:36camp, a long path winds through the trees.
- 58:41It's quiet there. Paper lanterns hang from ropes
- 58:44and branches, not yet lit but swaying gently, as if they're
- 58:48waiting for something. The counselors will call it a
- 58:52tradition. They say it helps.
- 58:54They say it's optional. They say a lot of things can't
- 58:59fire. Smoke clings to your clothes.
- 59:03Sorry, I love the smell of fire so.
- 59:07Kind of like it too. It smell kind of smells like
