- 0:01Speaker 1: There's going to be a very intense investigation. Right now,
- 0:07Speaker 1: nobody honestly knows was he tied to a foreign entity
- 0:11Speaker 1: or did he act on his own? The thing is,
- 0:14Speaker 1: he acted. It was a terrorist act. He tried to
- 0:17Speaker 1: kill everybody on that plane.
- 0:19Speaker 2: That investigation of the co-pilot who tried hijacking that fly
- 0:22Speaker 2: Dubai flight and then crashing it. That continues into today.
- 0:26Speaker 2: Questions now on how he's even cleared for being in
- 0:29Speaker 2: the cockpit in the first place. Israeli President Isaac Herzog
- 0:33Speaker 2: will join us live in a few moments. But first,
- 0:35Speaker 2: I want to get to the reporting on the story
- 0:37Speaker 2: of what we have with the latest from Trey Yanks.
- 0:38Speaker 2: He is live in Tel Aviv. Trey, hello.
- 0:41Speaker 1: Hello.
- 0:43Speaker 2: Yeah, Bill, good morning.
- 0:44Speaker 3: The investigation into the co-pilot of that fly Dubai flight
- 0:48Speaker 3: is ramping up. Prosecutors in the UAE confirmed this was
- 0:51Speaker 3: an attempted terror attack and reports indicate they may seek
- 0:55Speaker 3: the death penalty. The AP named Hamam Al-Khamami as the suspect.
- 0:59Speaker 3: Al-Khamami reportedly used an axe in the attack that may
- 1:02Speaker 3: have already been in the cockpit. The Omani national had
- 1:04Speaker 3: been banned from flying in Oman due to extremist views.
- 1:07Speaker 1: U.S.
- 1:08Speaker 3: Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee called the heroic actions of
- 1:11Speaker 3: Israeli passengers a miracle and indicated that intense investigation will
- 1:15Speaker 3: take place. Questions do remain about the vetting process that
- 1:18Speaker 3: allowed him to be hired by Fly Dubai and co-pilot
- 1:21Speaker 3: a flight to Israel, especially given the fact that the
- 1:23Speaker 3: Israelis had a flight manifest before the plane took off. Currently,
- 1:27Speaker 3: Australian investigators are also looking into ties he had to
- 1:30Speaker 3: their country, where he attended university. Intelligence services there were
- 1:34Speaker 3: aware of the suspect after he visited certain mosques and
- 1:37Speaker 3: multiple extremist websites. At this point, no additional links have
- 1:40Speaker 3: been disclosed to foreign governments, including Iran, despite President Trump
- 1:44Speaker 3: discussing possible ties. Here in Israel, the captain of the flight,
- 1:47Speaker 3: who avoided disaster, helping to save the lives of more
- 1:50Speaker 3: than 170 people, is being hailed as a hero.
- 1:54Speaker 4: I want to have Captain Smith and Prime Minister Modi,
- 1:58Speaker 4: our great friends, I really would like them to bear
- 2:01Speaker 4: a celebratory flame. It's our highest honor that we give
- 2:06Speaker 4: in our Independence Day. It's usually reserved for Israeli citizens,
- 2:11Speaker 4: but I think here in this case, all the citizens
- 2:15Speaker 4: of Israel will embrace you.
- 2:20Speaker 3: The latest information that we have, this co-pilot may have
- 2:23Speaker 3: been trying to take control of the airliner and then
- 2:26Speaker 3: crash it into Tel Aviv's Ben Gurion Airport to cause
- 2:29Speaker 3: a mass casualty event.
- 2:31Speaker 1: Bill?
- 2:31Speaker 2: All right, Trey Yanks, thank you. In Tel Aviv, more
- 2:34Speaker 2: to come on that.
- 2:35Speaker 1: Dana?
- 2:35Speaker 5: And let's bring in Isaac Herzog. He's the president of Israel,
- 2:38Speaker 5: and it's an honor to have you here. We have
- 2:40Speaker 5: much to get to. I want to start with this flight.
- 2:43Speaker 5: And I just read in the Times of Israel this
- 2:45Speaker 5: morning that Israel was unaware that the stabber, had reportedly
- 2:50Speaker 5: been barred from flying by his former employer, Oman Air,
- 2:54Speaker 5: over concerns about his radicalization. Will we be able to
- 2:58Speaker 5: get more of the clarification and more information about this soon?
- 3:04Speaker 6: Yes, this is a very intense investigation also in Israel.
- 3:11Speaker 6: Prime Minister Netanyahu announced that our national security advisor, Shmuel Beneza,
- 3:16Speaker 6: and his team We'll review this and investigate it in
- 3:20Speaker 6: depth in order to see where the gaps were and
- 3:23Speaker 6: what faults there were. Of course, we cooperate with all
- 3:27Speaker 6: the relevant agencies of our neighbors and the Emiratis as well.
- 3:32Speaker 6: So more and more information is coming out, and it's
- 3:35Speaker 6: a clear example of how we need to tighten the
- 3:39Speaker 6: cooperation when it comes to all issues, especially aviation. Let's
- 3:44Speaker 6: just put it in perspective. We're seeing a clear... evidence
- 3:48Speaker 6: of a terror attack, a terror attack which could have
- 3:51Speaker 6: changed the world, literally and definitely the region. That means,
- 3:55Speaker 6: of course, that above the miracles that were there, there's
- 3:59Speaker 6: also the need to repair and be better next time.
- 4:04Speaker 5: Moving on to the conflict in the region with Iran,
- 4:07Speaker 5: President Trump was asked about his decision that is there
- 4:12Speaker 5: for him. He's left the door wide open and all
- 4:15Speaker 5: the options are on the table. Here's what he said
- 4:17Speaker 5: on Saturday.
- 4:19Speaker 6: We have decisions now make about Iran.
- 4:22Speaker 4: Iran's been decimated.
- 4:25Speaker 2: So the only question is, it'll either be the easy
- 4:28Speaker 2: way or the hard way.
- 4:30Speaker 6: And we'll have it the easy.
- 4:31Speaker 4: Way or the hard way.
- 4:32Speaker 5: How do you assess the situation in the Gulf right now?
- 4:37Speaker 6: So President Trump spoke very openly and frankly, and I
- 4:41Speaker 6: think his analysis is exactly true, meaning there are really
- 4:46Speaker 6: two choices here. But one thing that President Trump repeats
- 4:50Speaker 6: all the time correctly is that we are dealing with
- 4:52Speaker 6: an empire of evil. which wants to really radicalize the world,
- 4:58Speaker 6: conquer the free world, get all the way to Europe
- 5:01Speaker 6: and the United States. That's the jihadist regime philosophy. That's
- 5:05Speaker 6: what Tehran is doing. And that is why they must
- 5:08Speaker 6: not have any access to nuclear capabilities at all. That's
- 5:12Speaker 6: the debate. That's the issue. And you know what? The
- 5:16Speaker 6: entire region feels the same. Sometimes they say it outspoken,
- 5:20Speaker 6: sometimes not. But let's understand, underneath the surface, there's a
- 5:24Speaker 6: whole effort to cooperate together and prevent... this empire of proxies,
- 5:30Speaker 6: from tilting the balance. The next issue is Yemen. Look
- 5:33Speaker 6: at it. A small tribe is blocking a main artery
- 5:37Speaker 6: of world trade, Bab el-Mandab. It costs each and every American.
- 5:42Speaker 6: And that's the issue at stake, meaning are we going
- 5:44Speaker 6: to cave in to terror, harassment, blackmail, or not? And
- 5:49Speaker 6: that is why the war with Iran is so essential.
- 5:52Speaker 5: And I just want to give you one second to...
- 5:55Speaker 5: Not one. Just a few seconds to... talk about the
- 5:58Speaker 5: third anniversary of the October 7th attacks. That is happening
- 6:01Speaker 5: this Wednesday. But there are ceremonies happening all week. And
- 6:06Speaker 5: here you are lowering the flag of the state of
- 6:08Speaker 5: Israel to half-mast at the president's residence in Jerusalem. What
- 6:14Speaker 5: would you like your country to know as you mark
- 6:17Speaker 5: this third anniversary?
- 6:20Speaker 6: Well, I'd like the world to know because today we
- 6:23Speaker 6: are marking what you call the Hebrew calendar day. three
- 6:27Speaker 6: years to that horrific massacre. And in two days' time,
- 6:31Speaker 6: we'll mark three years to October 7th. It's all the same.
- 6:35Speaker 6: So we have a whole week of ceremonies, huge agony,
- 6:39Speaker 6: pain and sorrow, reminiscing and memory, but also a learning
- 6:44Speaker 6: lesson to all of us. We must fight terror together.
- 6:48Speaker 6: You know, Dana, I spoke in a joint session of
- 6:51Speaker 6: Congress in July 23, three months before that horrific day,
- 6:56Speaker 6: And I said to Congress, and I said to both
- 6:59Speaker 6: sides of the aisle, that terror is what undermines the
- 7:02Speaker 6: future of peace in the region. That's the truth. We
- 7:06Speaker 6: want peace. We want peace with our neighbors. We did
- 7:09Speaker 6: not seek that war. It was waged upon us by horrific,
- 7:12Speaker 6: barbaric terrorists who raped, butchered, abducted, and killed our citizens.
- 7:17Speaker 6: And with our inherent right for self-defense, we went out
- 7:20Speaker 6: to fight. And we changed the route of the Middle
- 7:23Speaker 6: East with our heroic fighters. And all the rest is
- 7:27Speaker 6: bashing and attacking around us all over the place, blaming
- 7:31Speaker 6: Israel for all the faults. But the truth of the
- 7:33Speaker 6: matter is that Israel is protecting the West and the
- 7:36Speaker 6: free world by its activities.
- 7:39Speaker 5: Isaac Herzog, the president of Israel, thank you for joining
- 7:41Speaker 5: us today. And we send our condolences still for October 7th.
- 7:45Speaker 5: Thank you.
