- Canon Stogner: And we're live. Welcome back to another episode of the Saturday Slate Football Show. I am joined by Andrew Wright, your co-host, and our special, special guest, reoccurring guest, Will Morris. we got a lot to talk about. This is probably the most stacked college football weekend we've had yet with our Saturday slate. See what I did there. so we've got a lot to talk about, a lot of interesting games, a couple of bounce back games from some teams could be in the works. And then at the end we are going to do our five spread picks. so hang with us until the end, and then we'll get into that. But first, we are going to listen to a voicemail that was left recently. I think it was from my mom. So I haven't listened to it, so it could be interesting. Andrew Wright: So, thank Canon Stogner: Let's see. Let's see what she had to say. Will Morris+: I'm a I'm a little nervous, I'll be honest. Canon Stogner: Yeah, me too. Andrew Wright: You're gonna give me two. Will Morris+: Ha ha. Canon Stogner: Yeah, me too. Alright, here we go. Let's see what she had to say. I really hope she didn't say that crazy. Okay. Andrew Wright: That's right. Canon Stogner: Yeah. I think she just wants me to go bald at this point. which might Will Morris+: I don't know if there's anything else to be said beside what she said. That was that was thorough. Andrew Wright: Yeah, man. Canon Stogner: Yeah. I mean, yeah, we talked about it last episode. The fans were a little disappointing to me. And then actually on our TikTok, Andrew, we had a lot of comments about people complaining Andrew Wright: Thank Canon Stogner: about leaving and stuff and pretty much sticking up for the fans that were leaving, saying, Why would we stay for that crap? And I'm sitting here thinking, Andrew Wright: Mm-hmm. Canon Stogner: Well, if they would have recovered that onside kick, would you have been mad if you didn't stay? I mean Andrew Wright: Yeah, people are trying to run back in and get back inside. Canon Stogner: Yeah. and Will, I think y'all left early, right? Will Morris+: We left we left. We did leave early. We did not leave Canon Stogner: The eighteenth point. Will Morris+: w we left after we were down three scores in the fourth quarter. So once once it got to three quarter Canon Stogner: Yeah, when they made that when they made the field goal Will Morris+: Yep, yep. Once they made the field goal. Actually we we walked down because the right there was either a penalty I think there was a penalty and and it ended up being on Mississippi State that allowed us to keep the field goal. So we were walking down 'cause we thought, Lord, this is you know, this is done then then it ended up anyway. So we did leave a little bit early, but we were watching on the way out. Canon Stogner: Yeah. You can't give it up you can't give up on the fighting cocks. You can't get Will Morris+: Yeah. Canon Stogner: up give up on the fighting game cocks. but anyways, it was Mazio Bennett kinda did like his little weekly press conference yesterday with the beat reporters and he pretty much said the same thing, like Gamecock Nation, like we need you to have our back. Like we look up in the crowd and it was dead and stuff like this. And I'm like, Yeah, I was kinda saying that, like we ruped. Will Morris+: It was. They get the you know, we did leave early, but the the crowd that left early when it was still a two score game, that's ridiculous. Yeah, yeah, that's ridiculous. Canon Stogner: Twenty three fourteen at a half. Like and like yeah, some people are gonna have the excuse of like we had a hour and a half lightning delay or whatever the weather delay was. But dude, where else are you gonna go? It's five th the game started at five thirty, it didn't start at nine thirty. So Will Morris+: Yeah. Yeah. Canon Stogner: so I don't I I don't understand, and a lot of are the students that leave. So I'm just like, you they get their picture and then they leave. Makes zero sense to me. But anywho, we're on to week four. And that leads us right into our next discussion. Thanks, mom, for listening. South Carolina is at number eight, Alabama. They will travel to Tuscaloosa at seven o'clock at playing at Saban Field at Bryant Denny Stadium that holds over a hundred thousand people. And it's a matchup between two teams who are somewhat familiar with each other over the last couple of seasons. South Carolina's 2-1 with wins over Kent State and Towson with their only loss coming to Mississippi State last week. Alabama is undefeated at 3-0 with wins over East Carolina, Kentucky, and Florida State. Statistically, South Carolina is averaging 45 points a game and 526 total yards per game, including 250 passing yards and 277 rushing. Alabama, they're averaging 48 points a game, averaging 466 yards. 255 passing and 210 rushing. Lenore Sellers, he's thrown for 650 and five touchdowns from South Carolina, while Keelan Russell has thrown for 760 and four touchdowns. So it needs to be a bounce back game from Lenors. He's going to have to play well if they're going to want to win this game. South Carolina or Lenore Sellers and South Carolina, they are 0-2 against Alabama in the last two years, but both games came down to Literally the last possession. It really came down to it was a two-point conversion play, right? In the back of the end zone where Lenores threw it to the third row. Andrew Wright: Yeah. Canon Stogner: we should probably should have known by then he just wasn't a quarterback. but yeah, wasn't a good game. but for Alabama, entering the Florida State game. So before they played Florida State, they had a opponents that just converted on one of 23 third downs going into Florida State. Florida State went eight for fifteen, so they'll probably have to make a big adjustment to get off the field on third down. Alabama does leave the all-time series 13 to 4 against South Carolina and is on a three game winning streak, two against Shane Beamer. but I think the big question for me is can they slow down Keelan Russell? I think they're gonna have to pretty much make him a quarterback, make him throw the ball and stand in the pocket and make him beat you that way with his arm. I think it's They let him to escape and show off his mobility. They're going to be able to have some explosive plays that South Carolina will probably struggle to come back from, just based off how South Carolina's offense has looked the past couple of weeks. So that's a big thing, keeping Keelan Russell in the pocket. another thing is can Lenore Sellers consistently move the ball against Alabama's defense. He has thrown for 460 yards and ran for 86 in two games. versus Alabama with four touchdowns, but he has also turned the ball over three times in those two games. So I think this game boils down to which team wins the turnover battle and which team wins the third down battle. So who can get off the field on third down? Andrew Wright: We'll go ahead. Will Morris+: yeah, I think for me, me and do are talking about this off off the air. from a South Carolina perspective, I think, and this is just moving forward, we have enough intel now on Lenore Sellers to know what kind of quarterback he is. I think that, you know, heading into this season, heading into last season, obviously there's a lot of hype. you got two coming up on two and a half full seasons worth of data. And I think we were always kind of scared that this might be the case, that maybe he isn't the kind of quarterback that can just sit there and dice somebody up with his arm. We thought maybe he would develop. I think clearly he hasn't. So I think if you're a South Carolina lineup fan, I think what you have to hope is that the first half against Mississippi is just what we do, obviously, the rest of the year. And what that was, I was sitting there with Lucas and I told him, I said, we just put up what should have been closer to like thirty points in one half, three hundred Canon Stogner: Yeah I mean Will Morris+: yards of offense. We put that up without a normal passing attack. Lenorcellos did not drop back and he didn't deliver the football over the middle of the field. He didn't put it on the sideline. Like it was rollouts. It was dump it off to the running back and he gets 15 20 yards. It was a big play to Donovan Murph. Like it wasn't just sit back and pick him apart. And so I think I I gave the announc the comparison to Haynes King and Georgia Tech last year. Like maybe even like a Denard Robinson with Michigan 10 15 years ago. I mean, like he's just got to he he needs to run the ball fifteen times a game, I think. and if he does that, we proved that we can move the football. I don't even think like South Carolina's offensive line didn't even play that bad. so Canon Stogner: No one sack. Will Morris+: that's right. And he had time. I mean, the obviously the second interception, he could have done a backflip back there and still had time to throw the football. but instead he decided to throw it to to the guy wearing a white jersey. But that's a Andrew Wright: You Will Morris+: separate issue. But yeah, I mean I think if you're South Carolina, you gotta you gotta just play if you're if you're Kendall Browse, you gotta act like we know that Lenora Sellers can't be a normal quarterback, so we're gonna have to run him. From the defensive side of the ball, I think that I know it's so it sounds so dumb to say that the whole defense is gonna revolve around one player, but if Dylan Stewart can be can play the whole game and he can be as disruptive as as he was during the the few plays that he was in, I think that that makes a world of difference. I don't think Keelan Russell has been he he hasn't faced a defender like Dylan Stewart and he probably won't the rest of the season unless they play Texas and they gotta play with Colin Simmons. But Dylan Stewart's a game changer. He is literally a game changer. When you have somebody that can get in the backfield like that, it creates turnovers, it creates negative plays. Your defense, when it's third and fifteen, is much different than when it's third and five. And that's the difference that the kind of that that's the kind of difference that a player like Dwins Dylan Stewart can make. So, so I think if if Dylan can st if Dylan Stewart can come out and he can actually perform to the level that we know that he can, I think that that makes a world of difference for for South Carolina. From an Alabama perspective, I still don't think that they faced a team that's probably as talented as South Carolina yet. I know Kentucky's looking good, but I think from top to bottom our roster still probably out talents Kentucky. Now I don't know if we have a better football team than Kentucky. We'll find that out next week. so I do think that Alabama is gonna be tested. I do I do like the messaging that I got this week from South Carolina. I told that to do as well before we got on the air. South Carolina basically said, Hey, we crapped the bed in the second half less we last week. What do you want us to do about it? We're gonna go play this next game. So we're gonna flush it, we're gonna move on. That came from the head coach and it came from the players. So I was I was actually really pleased with that. So I expect us to come out with with an inspired performance. we'll get to the spreads later, but it's twelve and a half, which I think is a lot. We'll see. I mean, Alabama does look really good. If we cannot run the football, like if if Alabama's run defense is as good as they've looked in the first couple of games. we're going to really struggle 'cause like I just said, we don't think we have a quarterback and th that can just sit back there and dice him up. So if Alabama's run defense is as good as they look, then we're in trouble. So we'll see. Canon Stogner: Yeah. let me I'm gonna kind of get away from podcast C right now or podcast canon. Just kind of deep dive into South Carolina a little bit. But I know a lot of our fans that listen are South Carolina fans, so they're probably gonna care to hear this anyways. Andrew Wright: Thank Canon Stogner: but I think this D line especially is trending towards the same D line that we had two years ago with Kyle Connard on the opposite end of Dylan Stewart. And I say that as in those two left tackles for Mississippi State. They should have been banned from celebrating that win. 'Cause they got w they got wore out all game. Will Morris+: Yeah. Canon Stogner: And they probably had a lot more holding calls than that were actually called. Will Morris+: Cla Cla Clayton White said that they tackled Addison probably three or four times. He said on Canon Stogner: Yeah. Will Morris+: the the the hands to the face one, he said he got tackled that it should have been, you know, so Canon Stogner: Yeah, and like obviously when Dylan Stewart's not on the field, they're missing that elite superstar pass rusher that they have with him. But Anthony Addison and Caleb Herring and a lot of and Julian Walker, those guys have looked really good and they're Will Morris+: They're good too. Yeah. Canon Stogner: aggressive and they're getting after the ball. My biggest concern for the defensive line this week is Brad Gabriel Brownlow Dendi. I gotta be careful with that name. Gabriel Brownlow Dendi. When he got hurt last week, I think it was late, it was late first half. Andrew Wright: Mm-hmm. Canon Stogner: He plays D tackle. Late first half, he got hurt. And then the second half is when Mississippi State really turned it on. And I want to say I gave he's very good D tackle. I want to say a lot of that had to do with him. They just didn't have that, you know, interior push that they were getting with him in on the field. but to kind of just calm down the cyclone of fans right now, for one, I said this the other day that's the best quarterback they're gonna play all year. And The offense that Mississippi State runs is a very tricky offense because it forces the defense to really freeze like the first second or two of each play. Because I I would like to go back and watch it. I don't know how many times Kamario Taylor took a snap and he handed it off to Fluff Bothwell or put it in his belly for like the first second Andrew Wright: Mm-hmm. Canon Stogner: or two. And that makes everybody freeze. And so that whole game changed whenever they hit those two long balls over the top, because when that happened, they had to bring the safeties back, and then that's when they started running the ball all over the field because they got the guys out of the box. Which brings me to this point. If South Carolina can just hit a couple of those deep passes, like Mississippi State was doing, that makes the safeties back up, and then you can run the ball. And I thought South Carolina ran the ball very well in the first half. I thought they got away Will Morris+: Okay. Canon Stogner: from it too early. And I think they were trying too many outside runs and trying to get the jet sweeps going. And it really could have just ran it up the middle because it seemed like they were getting at least three, maybe four or five a carry. So doing that, just proving to teams that you're not afraid to throw the ball and proving to teams that you can throw the ball just a little bit changes how this season could play out. And yeah, Will, you're right. In the first game against Alabama, Lenore Sellers had 16 carries. He had 19 yards, but that was a bad O line. A lot of that had to do with sacks. Last year against Alabama, he had 18 carries for 80 yards. So he's ran the ball almost 20 times in two games against South Carolina. Obviously, two different offense coordinators though two those two games. But I would be very surprised if they don't get his legs moving early. just to, you know, put another factor out there on the field. Because nobody fears Lenore Sellers throwing the ball. They want them to throw the ball. They beg them to throw the ball. So doing that is very important. And I've always said this. It's kind of like when a team's Andrew Wright: all right. Canon Stogner: down 10 with less than two minutes left and you get in field goal range. Me and Andrew always say, like, just kick the field goal and take the points and just try to get the onside kick because you're gonna have to score twice anyways. You're saving yourself Andrew Wright: Mm-hmm. Canon Stogner: more time by kicking the field goal. kind of similar to that, I've always said if you have a running Andrew Wright: Okay. Canon Stogner: quarterback and you have a short down, why not use the running quarterback and use your running back to block? Because that if you hand the ball to a running back, that puts you down a man. It puts you to eleven on ten instead of if you have a running Andrew Wright: Mm-hmm. Canon Stogner: quarterback like Lenore Sellers at six three two fifty, you have you're playing with eleven on eleven now and you have an extra guy blocking. I've always said that. Obviously you can't do that with Peyton Manning in the backfield or, you know, anybody else. But doing that and having Lenore run the ball is extremely important for South Carolina to get just the offense going as a whole. So I mean, what do you think? Do you do you agree with that? Will Morris+: What you got, dude? Andrew Wright: Yeah, yeah, it definitely is. That's kind of my biggest thing going into the game Saturday is can they run the ball like and I'm like like Will said in there then they have to run the ball to be able to compete in this game and win this game. Alabama's got the fifth best run defense in college football. So I was got the seventh best run offense. It's like that is a true in the margins. See what's better their run defense or run offense and I think like Will said Lenore's is going to have to run the ball. 15, 18, 20 times if they have any chance of competing. Because like you said, Cannon, nobody fears him anymore as a passer and they won't until he proves he can beat you as one and him running the ball and the team running the ball sets up play action and those deep shots to Murph and to Harbor and to Mazio potentially. See you. Canon Stogner: Not to harbour, not to harbour. Will Morris+: If he's wide open, you gotta throw it to him though. And Canon Stogner: Yeah. Will Morris+: that was the problem with the first interception. He was wide open. You know, I heard I I told Dude this too. Browl said that that was the first read. On the first interception when Nick Harper was running wide open down the field, that was read number one. That makes it way worse. Canon Stogner: Yeah. But it did get tipped. It did get tipped. Or his arm got hit. No, yeah, no, Will Morris+: Yeah, but he wasn't throwing at the harbor though, that's the thing. Canon Stogner: no, no, I agree. But the second pick was worse. And I think the first pick that he threw against Mississippi State in the red zone that got called back, thankfully, was probably the worst throw of his career. He even if even if that ball would have got through the first guy, it was gonna have to get through the second guy. And if it Will Morris+: yeah. Canon Stogner: got through the second guy, Mazeo was gonna have to make an incredible catch. Andrew Wright: Mm-hmm. Canon Stogner: So the corner didn't pick that pass off. So he's got a lot to learn and unfortunately not a lot of Will Morris+: No time to learn it. Canon Stogner: yeah. So we'll see. Very, very good game. And but I do I do think South Carolina's gonna go out there and compete. Will Morris+: Yeah, I w Andrew Wright: Mm-hmm. Will Morris+: yeah, I wanna hear do you think that you think that South Carolina's got a real legit chance to win, right? Andrew Wright: Yeah, I do. I really do. Canon Stogner: I d I do too. I do too. Clayton White Clayton White has been very good at these young, inexperienced quarterbacks. He's been very Andrew Wright: Bye. Canon Stogner: good at like really confusing those guys. Andrew Wright: That's like I told Will, like we always say like within our friend group like, hey, every single year we will have a game that we lose, we ain't supposed to and we will have the one we win, we ain't supposed to. And last year that one that we weren't supposed to win that we should have was Texas A And also we know how that played out. And this just to me feels like that game like, hey, last week happened like we have every reason for the season to fall apart. I just don't see it I think we have a legit real chance to go in there and win and kind of get the season back going in the right direction. Canon Stogner: Yeah. Yeah. So we'll see. We'll definitely have our eyes on that. all right, let's move on to the spotlight game of the week. We have number one Texas facing off against number fourteen Tennessee with game day coming to Knoxville. very big matchup for both teams with the spread currently sitting at four and a half in favor of Texas. This will only be the fourth matchup ever between these two teams, with the last meeting coming in what year? Do you anybody want to guess? Will Morris+: Probably late nineties. Andrew Wright: 1997. Canon Stogner: Nineteen sixty eight. Andrew Wright: Jeez. Will Morris+: my gosh. Canon Stogner: Yeah. and it's also Texas' trip to Knoxville ever. but Texas does does lead the series two to one. both teams are undefeated at 3-0. Texas is coming off a 30-6 win over UTSA, while Tennessee just beat Kennesaw State 42 to 9. through three games, Texas has scored 38 points a game and averaging 417 yards per game. passing for 242 and rushing for 175 per game. I think we're kind of gonna start seeing Hollywood Smothers get majority of the carries now. Now that we're into SEC play. you know, he started feasting late in the game against Ohio State. So I think we're now gonna they're not gonna be splitting carries as much. the Longhorns have allowed just 12 points per game on defense and only gave up 143 yards to UTSA. Tennessee has been a lot more explosive. They're averaging 48 points a game and 510 yards per game, including t almost 300 yards rushing and 210 passing, while only allowing 14 yards or 14 points a game. I did do a little research on the coaching matchup. so Josh Heipel versus Will Muschamp and Steve Sarkeesian versus Te Tennessee's DC Jim Knowles. Sarkeesian has faced Jim Knowles twice. Once at Oklahoma State and once against Ohio State in the national championship. And Steve Sarkeesian is 0-2 in those two games. He is averaging 320 yards between the two games. but he has held or Jim Knowles has held Sarkeesian to 33% on third down in those two games. So Texas or Jim Knowles is very good at getting off the field against Sarkeesian. we'll mush champ the DC at Texas, has beaten Josh Heipel all four times. All four times they have matched up as coordinators or head coaches of their teams. so I do want to pick Tennessee to win this game, but I'm leaning towards Texas. Andrew, what do you have? Andrew Wright: yeah, definitely leaning toward Texas a little bit. Just they're probably the better team. one interesting thing I kind of saw today and then did some research on was watching Colin Calhart talk with Joe Clatt earlier and kind of the conversation around Arch, I know kind of how we've viewed him. We've talked about him and they're three and own ranked number one. So everybody probably that doesn't pay a whole lot of attention to college football probably thinks man Arch is playing outstanding. He's the guy he's supposed to be. He hasn't been that good. And like Joe, Clatt today. Onkka our show said he's been okay at best So I wanted to dive into a little bit and if you take away those three series against Ohio State where they score three straight touchdowns in the game His completion percentage drops from about 62 % down to 59 He has one less touchdown same amount of turnovers. They're just they're just a different He's just a different quarterback outside of those three drives We view we would view him so much differently if one of those drops isn't a touchdown if one of those is a punt if they don't convert one of those fourth downs We view him so much differently, think right now, between a 62 % and a 59%. So I think he really has to play well. I think he has a really tough matchup ahead of him. With that defense, if he's not like completely on his game, I think it could be a long day for him. We'll kind of see how the day plays out. But kind of as of now definitely leaning toward Texas just a little Canon Stogner: The only th the only thing about what you said, like I know you kinda focus on the Ohio State game, but he did have two or three wide open drops that kinda also that also hurt him. Andrew Wright: Yeah, he did. Right. Yeah, he did. Canon Stogner: but before Will gets into it, Andrew, we need Tennessee bad this week. Andrew Wright: Bad. We need Tennessee in a humongously bad type of way. And Canon Stogner: Yeah, we need a we need Will Morris+: Ha ha ha. Andrew Wright: I've never liked pulling for Tennessee in anything a day in my life. But boy, let's go Rocky Top. Canon Stogner: Yeah, let's go Rocky Top. And Tennessee's got probably the best linebacker in college football in Arian Carter. so if you haven't heard of him, be looking out for him. He is an absolute stud. And if he'll have to have an incredible game. I don't want to say like a Devin Lloyd game that Devin Lloyd had for the Panthers, but it needs to be similar. Will, go ahead. What you got? Will Morris+: Yeah, I I so I remembered obviously I think everybody who's familiar with the show is probably probably knows y'all's take on Texas. and obviously Texas ended up getting it done against Ohio State. It was ugly. They had to depend on those last three drives. my take on Arch Manning in Texas was obviously I was high I was much higher on Texas than y'all. I picked him to win the SEC championship. But I did say that I don't think that's gonna be because Arch Manning plays incredible. And I think that has played out. I think that Texas is just They're so good on defense, especially now that Muschamp's there. We know what kind of defenses Muschamp can produce. He's allergic to offense, though, so we know how he performs as a head coach, obviously, as South Carolina fans. but I I do think that the story is freshman quarterback, true freshman quarterback at Tennessee versus a Will Muschamp coached stud, like just studs all over the field defense from Texas. this I mean, you gotta think, like this kid, Faison Brandon, he was playing against guys that are, you know, they're There's a 5'10, 160-pound linebacker that was playing last year when he was still in high school. And now he's going to be facing Colin Simmons and the rest of the Texas defense. Well, Colin Simmons has a little bit of an injury going on. He's probably going to play, just because this game is big, obviously. He'll play as much as he can, but you get the point where Faton Brandon's playing last year and he's playing high school. This year, he's facing Texas, he's facing Will Muschamp. Like there's NFL guys at every level of that defense. So the story is gonna be how does he handle that? I do think that Josh Heipel's offense because it does make the reads easier because of how wide their offense is, it does isolate the defender that he needs to make the decision on. So the defender that he needs to make the decision on is so far out of the box that he's either going to have to commit to the run or he's going to have to commit to defending the pass. And so that does simplify things for the quarterback. So I think Josh Heipel coached offenses are able to have quarterbacks that don't have to be his experience be successful. even with that, I do think that Texas, just because of how athletic they are, I know y'all y'all said, both of you said that they are the number one most talented team as far as just pure talent. So because of that, I think that Texas is gonna be able to I think they're gonna be able to run the ball. I know that that Tennessee's front seven's pretty good. I still think that Texas are gonna be able to run the ball. I think Arch Manning does enough. Now, if Arch Manning does throw a couple interceptions, that could definitely swing things. Rocky Top gets going. that's a tough place to play, and I think everybody knows that. but I'll actually I we'll get to the spread picks later, but I'm taking Texas and I would I would lay that in the points as well. Canon Stogner: All right. I I cannot wait to watch this game just for the color. I think it's gonna be the most prettiest game of football ever with the colors going in. A lot of Sacolana fans at least don't like Tennessee's color, their orange the color of their orange. I love it. And I think having two schools with burnt orange and then Tennessee's orange is gonna be incredible. Will Morris+: Yeah, I didn't even think about that. That's that is pretty crazy. Canon Stogner: Yeah, I mean you know Texas are gonna come out there in that all white, but how many how many teams let's kinda steer away from the games, how many teams in the SEC only have two color combinations? I know we have Texas, Alabama, Auburn, Oklahoma They don't wear the Will Morris+: Yeah. Canon Stogner: r they don't wear red pants, right? Andrew Wright: Yeah, they can wear all red. Canon Stogner: Okay. S Georgia. Well they wore black or they wore all white last weekend. Andrew Wright: You are all white, yeah. Canon Stogner: trying to think there if there are there any other teams that were Let's get the fans involved, huh? Get the viewers get the view get the viewers thinking. How many teams Will Morris+: Yeah, no, we we need help on this one. Canon Stogner: have the same color? Will Morris+: I'm sure somebody in the chat will do the research and Canon Stogner: Yeah, and I feel like we're missing somebody obvious too. Andrew Wright: Yeah. Canon Stogner: It's probably the top dog or something. all right. We have another what was supposed to be a massive SEC matchup. and we have a few more that we're gonna talk about, but this one right here is number two, Georgia and Oklahoma, where the Sooners will travel to Athens and this game will kick off at three thirty. Georgia comes in at three and while Oklahoma is two and one. And two bad weeks of football, regardless. They won last week. this will only be the second meeting between these two programs, with the only previous matchup coming in the twenty eighteen Rose Bowl. Rose Bowl where Georgia won fifty four to forty eight in double overtime in what was probably the best one of the best college football games ever. that was Baker Mayfield and Jake Fron. Andrew Wright: Yeah, that sounds right. Will Morris+: Was it from? Canon Stogner: Yeah. Or what was the dude's name? What was the tall dude's name that threw the touchdown against Tennessee? They caught he was supposed to be like Justin Herbert. He was like Will Morris+: I know who you're talking about. Andrew Wright: Isen? something, is it Jacob? Jacob Isen? Canon Stogner: East Will Morris+: Jacob. Yeah. Canon Stogner: Jacob Easton, yeah. He was a stud. I loved him. I thought he was good. Will Morris+: Ha ha. Canon Stogner: He fell off though. anyways, Georgia's coming off a 45-17 win over Arkansas in its SEC opener, while Oklahoma is coming off a much closer 14 to 6 win over New Mexico after losing to Michigan the previous week. Georgia's averaging almost 60 points a game and 540 yards. 285 in the air and 253 rushing. the Bulldogs are also only allowing 13 points a game while giving up 45 rushing yards and 165 passing yards. John Matteir, he is the most important player on the field this week. I could honestly see this game being a snooze fest, not necessarily bad football, but just like a defensive showdown. Because I do think Oklahoma's defense is still very good. And I think they'll be able to hold their ground against Georgia's offense. But I see it being very unlikely Oklahoma can move the ball against Georgia. And they're going to have to do it getting staying on the field on third downs, especially the third and medium or third and short, especially. They're going to have to stay on the field and convert those third downs. I think Brent Venables is going to have to be a little bit more aggressive with his coaching style and Going for it a lot more. Maybe the 45 and beyond, he's gonna have to go for it just to keep Georgia's offense off the field. But I think this is a very bad matchup for Oklahoma because I think if you just look at it on paper and just look at the rosters, Oklahoma or Georgia is probably just like a glorified Oklahoma team, just based off the style of play and you know how they're coached. But Georgia's just that much further advanced. So really bad matchup for Oklahoma. Wouldn't be surprised if it's a blowout. I hope it's a very close game. Will, what you got? Will Morris+: Yeah, I I agree with you. I don't I mean you you try to run your you know, kind of rack your brain, you're like, all right, how how would Oklahoma pull this upset off? they would have to have turnovers. So they would have to have win the turnover margin. They might have to have three turnovers go their way, to be honest with you. I don't even know if two would get it done. Just because even if they do get a turnover, I'm not sure that their offense moves the football anyways. So even if they have a turnover in their territory, I think they kick a field goal and then George got the ball again. Canon Stogner: Yeah. Will Morris+: we do get to find out what kind of team that Georgia actually has. they just they've sacrificed three teams in a row, right? They they just come up there and they just on national television, they just put them away. so now we get to find out if Georgia can actually play football against an SEC team. I don't count Arkansas as an SEC team this year. They don't they don't count. so so we do get to find out if Gunnar Stockton and Company can actually move the football on a good defense, because like you said, Oklahoma has a really good defense. So we need to find out if Georgia can move the football against good defenses. Because if Georgia fancies themselves as a national title contender, they're obviously gonna have to do that. we also get to find out honestly if Georgia has a defense too. We just there there are so many unknowns with Georgia. I know that they've blown everybody out, and I'm not I don't think this game's gonna be close at all. we just need to see it. You just need proof that Georgia can actually go on the field and get it done against an SEC opponent. we'll find that out this week. I do think they will get that. I think I I don't think I think the spread's like fourteen and a half. Andrew Wright: Mm-hmm. Will Morris+: I'm probably taking that Georgia. I know like that that sounds crazy. Canon Stogner: Mm-hmm. I I I I may have taken it at twenty eight and a half. Will Morris+: Yeah, Andrew Wright: Yeah. Will Morris+: okay. Let's not get crazy, but Canon Stogner: Ha ha ha. Will Morris+: but I think, yeah, I mean I again you just like you just rack your brain for like could John Mateer get it done? And I I just don't I I don't think they can. I don't I don't think they have the fire power on offense. No matter how good that defense plays, I just don't think there's enough I don't think there's enough turnovers to to push him over the edge. Andrew Wright: Yeah, that's definitely my thing. just can't figure out where they get points from. just understand only a 10 point showing against Michigan against the really good Big 10 defense and a really tough environment. But then you go out at home against New Mexico and you can only put up two touchdowns. I just can't figure out where they get points and they're obviously going to have to have points to win that. yeah, that 14 points, I think I don't think it's even close to enough. So yeah, think Georgia wins by plenty. Canon Stogner: Yeah, I I could really only way I can see this game going for Oklahoma is if like they're going into half up ten to three and their touchdown coming off like a block punt return or Andrew Wright: Yeah. Yeah. Canon Stogner: you know reta taking the open kick opening kickoff back or however Andrew Wright: Mm-hmm. Canon Stogner: they get to return the kickoff. so yeah, probably gonna be a blowout, but we'll see. all right. Here is probably the I don't I guess the most surprising spread of the week. I really don't want to say it right now because Will does get first pick and her spread picks. But dang it. so number Will Morris+: it's it's i it's in the bag. You can go ahead and knock that one off the board. Yeah. Canon Stogner: four Ole Miss will travel to Gainesville and take on the Florida Gators at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium. Florida is favored by some way, somehow three and a half points. although Ole Miss just came off Two wins against LSU and Louisville. And we're not talking about Louisville today, but by the way, Louisville is very good. Andrew Wright: Mm-hmm. Canon Stogner: Very good. but anyways, this game is set for 330 on ABC. Both teams are coming in undefeated, 3-0. This will be the 28th meeting between these two programs with the series currently tied 13 and 13-1. Ole Miss won the most recent matchup, 32-24 at home last season, while Florida won the Matchup before that, 24 to 17 in Gainesville in 2024. So very big game. Ole Miss, obviously their emotions will probably still be running high after beating LSU and Lane Kiffen. And Florida's coming off a impressive win against Auburn. but if you're Florida, I'm scared of this week. You know, you're probably scared because you're favored. So you know your players know that. You know your players are hearing that you're favorite and they're supposed to win. But you gave up 39 points to Auburn, who only scored 17 against Baylor, and you got Trinidad, the best quarterback in the country, coming to town. You got to be careful because John Summer Alis, he's three and a lot of fans have bought into what he does and how he coaches and all this. But this game, I also think it could be a blowout. And kind of like a wake up call to Florida, like, okay, we're not there yet. We're coming, but we're not there yet. And also for John Summerall, like, this is your first massive game at home. Your first SEC game at home. You're gonna be a sold out crowd. You can't get blown out in this game. But and I do think he's a very good motivator and like psychologist, or what's the word I'm looking for? Just being able Will Morris+: Motivator and psychologist sounded good to me. Canon Stogner: Yeah, just being able to flush his flush Andrew Wright: Yeah, I hope so. Canon Stogner: his players' brains and like prepare them for this game. But yeah, it's gonna be I think it's gonna be a lone night for Florida. It's gonna be tough for them to stop Trinidad and Deuce Alexander and Kiwan Lacey. Is he playing this week? I haven't seen an update on him. Andrew Wright: He's questionable. Will Morris+: Yeah. I think that honestly, I d it's crazy that a running back can move the line that much, but I think that might be part of the reason why the line is the way it is. still crazy to me that a running back moves it that much, but yeah. Canon Stogner: Yeah. one thing about Florida, I didn't even mention him. Probably the best running back in football right now. I know the Andrew Wright: Mm-hmm. Canon Stogner: whole season we talked about Kawan Lacey and Emad Hardy and Isaac Brown, which we'll get to Ahmad Hardy later. Jaden Ball is probably the best running back in football, or at least he is right now. He is, I mean, he he's dominating this season so far. He dominated against Auburn. he had four hundred and fifty-eight rushing yards on the season and eight touchdowns through three games. and he's also been over the a hundred yard mark in every game this season. So Ole Miss is gonna have to stop the run. Florida's also very good at, you know, motioning a lot of players and confusing the defense, a lot of pre-snap movement. So Pete Golden being defense coach, I think this is a great matchup for Ole Miss. Andrew Wright: think there's a potential that this is first one to 40 wins because I do think Florida will be able to move the ball. really do. The one place they are vulnerable is their run defense. They're kind of like middle of the pack in the country this season and rushing yards allowed at about 160 a game. And then Florida has rushed it for almost 250 per game. And like you said, Jaden Ball, probably the best running back so far through three games. So I do think that is one spot that Ole Miss is vulnerable. I they've showed that their defense maybe isn't as great as we thought it was going to be, giving up 38 to Louisville and then kind of almost choking away a 24 to three lead against LSU. So I do think Vardy can have some success there. I've been high on them since the preseason. I do think this is where the train comes to a little bit of a screeching halt. I do think Ole Miss, with the more experienced quarterback, the best quarterback in the country, I do think they can go into a really tough environment and win this game. But if they cannot stop the run, they will be in for a long afternoon. And it could very well be last team with the ball ends up winning the game. Will Morris+: This is yeah, to me this is such a weird spot for a Florida fan to be. only because you come into the season obviously have a brand new brand new coach and you won a big SEC game last week. and that game was at that game was in Auburn. So you go on the road and you get a big Canon Stogner: It was that album, yeah. Andrew Wright: You Will Morris+: SEC win. and you expect to come into a game like this where you have old miss, obviously they knocked off L S U and L S U did what they did to Clemson. So you're thinking L SU, top five team, I think they're no what are they, number four this week? Canon Stogner: They're n Yeah, O Miss is number four, yeah. Will Morris+: Number four, so so you got top four team coming in and you're thinking normally in a spot like this, brand new coach, first year, and you're thinking this might be the game where we can surprise somebody, kinda announce ourselves on the national stage by challenging the number four team. It's our o it's our SEC home opener, that sort of thing. And then all of a sudden the line comes out and you're favored. So the vibe and and I know that the lines th this is something that people just have to kind of wrap their heads around is that the lines really do matter. When like you said, Cana, like when when when coaches or players or fans when they look at who was actually favored, that does play into your psyche a little bit. And so it just Canon Stogner: Mm-hmm. Will Morris+: is a really weird spot where normally you're like, the underdogs, we're going on the hunt, they have an experienced quarterback, we got a brand new everything. Let's go get guys. You know, and let but but it's not, it's it's the opposite. and they've earned it to some degree. I mean, they have played really well. Those those top two ri wide receivers, man, those those two guys are good. Was it Dallas Wilson and Vernon Brown? Is that the other guy? Canon Stogner: Yeah, yeah. Andrew Wright: Mm-hmm. Will Morris+: Man, those two guys are good. And they're good with the ball in their hands too. which is something that South Carolina does not have. But those two guys, when they have the balls in their hand, they can actually make guys miss and actually go get yards after they catch it. and I think that Ole Miss's secondary is is kind of you touched on this a little bit, dude. They're they're vulnerable as well. Keenholes was able to play well against them, obviously. the second half of that L S U game. That offense started to wake up a little bit too. So not just in the run game, but in the past. So that that almost defense is a little bit questionable. they've gotten away with it so far just because they have an alien playing quarterback on the other side of the ball. so it it will be interesting. I think the I think the take there was great do. I think it's might be first one to forty, last one last one with the ball kind of thing. it is very helpful that this game is in the swamp. Heard this on Andrew Wright: Mm-hmm. Will Morris+: Josh Pate. This is the first ranked game in the swamp since like twenty twenty two or twenty twenty three. Andrew Wright: Mm-hmm. Will Morris+: Which is insane for a place like that. Like it I Canon Stogner: Yeah. Will Morris+: that kinda puts in perspective like how how long it's been since Florida's been relevant nationally. Which is probably very Canon Stogner: And how bad. Will Morris+: weird for those fan that fan base too, which is another reason why it's so it's such a strange spot for that line to come out in favor of Florida. Because I know that that fan base is hungry. I mean that th those guys down there, they they care, man, and they show up and they they you know, they make the presence felt. and it's been a while, so those fans will show up. I think some will have ready, but I do think that that Trinidad that offense is just gonna be too much in the end. Canon Stogner: Yeah, one thing is I feel like Ole Miss is gonna have to I don't wanna say 'cause they kind of they they move fast. I don't want to say they should like kind of slow the offense down a little bit, but I think Ole Miss is gonna score fast a lot, like they do every game. But Florida running the ball so much with Jaden Ball and him being on the field and just wearing the defense down. When you get to the fourth quarter and your defense has been on the field for 25, 30 minutes going into the fourth quarter, they're going to be tired. So Ole Miss might have to change a little bit how they play this this week just to keep the defense off the field a little bit. And, you know, they're also probably going to have to be subbing in a lot of guys just to keep them fresh. And you get into that third, second and third string D line and front seven, that's going to be coming in. It could be a long night. So I do see what y'all are saying, but I do think Ole Miss. Will Morris+: Yeah. If if you're Florida, you gotta think the game plan's gotta be we need to run the ball so that way we can just keep the ball out of Trinidad Champions' hands. Like that it should be it should be a game Andrew Wright: Mm-hmm. Yeah. Canon Stogner: Yeah. Will Morris+: of keep away the entire game. Canon Stogner: Yeah, I agree. I agree. Andrew Wright: Absolutely. Canon Stogner: And one thing, you did mention South Carolina. And so it kinda brought me back. I'm not on the Shane Beamer fire train, fire Shane Beamer train. But Will Morris+: Not yet. Canon Stogner: he he is a special teams guy. My only issue I got with Shane Beamer right now is Nick Harbor returning kicks. He he looks like the slowest player on the field and he can't make anybody miss. And when they put Jaquel Hallman back their return kicks, like the fourth quarter, that dude was returning the ball. He got to probably the Will Morris+: Yeah, he looked good. He Canon Stogner: thirty or thirty Will Morris+: looked good. Canon Stogner: five every every time. And then he was running the ball hard and breaking tackles. He was a shoestring tackle away from taking one to the house. So that's my only problem with Shane Beamer right now, but I love you, dude. all right. Another massive game this weekend. We're talking about a lot of big games. College game day probably had Will Morris+: Some of it. Canon Stogner: the toughest decision ever Andrew Wright: Mm-hmm. Canon Stogner: to decide to go to Tennessee and Texas. 'cause they could have really went to about three or four more games. Yeah. Yeah. Will Morris+: They they had to go though. That's that's such a b that's such a big helmet game. They to go to that one. Canon Stogner: I agree. Big Ten matchup. We have number twenty Oregon facing off against number twelve USC, with Oregon is traveling to Los Angeles to take on the Trojans at Memorial Stadium. Big game for the fans here as well. I'm very excited to see what this crowd looks like when this game kicks off. Cause you know, I think Andrew Wright: you Canon Stogner: Oregon fans travel pretty well. And these USC fans better have been saving up for this game. Because their first Andrew Wright: Mm-hmm. Canon Stogner: three games have been very poor. Will Morris+: Beautiful. Canon Stogner: but massive game. USC is four and Oregon is two and one. Oregon is favored by two and a half. This will be the 65th meeting between these two teams, with USC leading the all-time series 38 and 24 and two. But Oregon has won each of the last four meetings, including a 42 to 27 win in Eugene last season. this is also the first time these two teams will meet at the Coliseum as Big Ten opponents. So pretty big matchup for them. Oregon is coming off an 84 to zero win over Portland State after opening the season with a 34 to 27 win over Boise State and suffering a loss to Oklahoma State. I feel so bad for Portland State because of this game. After losing to Oklahoma State, you knew it. You knew it was coming and you got it. And you got it bad. Will Morris+: Prayer's up. Prayers up. it was on Friday night too. Andrew Wright: In. Canon Stogner: Yeah. Andrew Wright: Yeah. Canon Stogner: Oregon's averaging 32 points a game, 390 yards per game, while also allowing 33 points and 415 yards per game. Dante Moore, he's thrown for 850 with nine touchdowns and zero interceptions while completing sixty-eight percent of his passes. USC four and they open up big time, big ten play last week versus Rutgers, winning forty-two to thirty-five. Trojans are averaging 43 points and 500 yards per game, which ranks as the nation's most productive offense is one of them. probably best quarterback matchup we'll have all weekend, maybe all season, between Dante Moore and Jaden Maiava. Maiava's been outstanding. The first four games he's thrown for 1200 yards, 12 touchdowns, and just one interception and completing passes at 76%. So he's been dominating. He has played an extra game than everybody else. but very big matchup. I've been high on them all preseason and season. I want to take USC to win this game. But actually I I'm taking USC to win this game. And this is feels like you you're what you win or you're out for Oregon. This game. This game's a win or you're out. Andrew Wright: Mm-hmm. Yeah that That's yeah, that's what I had down like this is and for me this is this goes both ways not necessarily when and you're out for USC But this is for me I'm not literally wrote down put up or shut up time for both of them And I mean that in a sense of like you said can if Oregon loses they're done The rest of the season is unless just crazy and this happens like this season's a wash It's over nothing more came back just to come back and miss the playoff and it's done and for USC This feels like like the game for Lincoln rally Like you can't win this one at home against a very vulnerable team that has already been beat then then what is what's the future? I know they'll have the rest of their schedule to play out and see if they can still win some games to get in but if you can't win this one at home, then what game can you win? So that that really is what it boils down to for me. which team can come out and throw the first punch and kind of get them a minimum their side. I think the crowd like you said will be insane to see to see if it's a 50-50. or even 55-45 in the Oregon favor. That'll be interesting. yeah, both of these teams desperately need a win. USC can avoid a loss a little bit more than Oregon can, but I don't think it would be a good loss for them either. So yeah, very, very important game for both head coaches. Will Morris+: Yeah, yeah, I I I'm gonna pick Oregon just because I wanna spite the Southern Cal fans because they suck just in general. Like I'm just you know. but I will say at the beginning of the season I talked about this where Southern Cal two years ago, they just committed to actually restart like reloading on both lines of scrimmage. So obviously Lincoln Riley historically spread the ball out, Kyler Murray, Baker Mayfield, all those guys, like, you know, run the run the score up. But they they they committed to actually structuring their line so that way they could compete in the Big Ten. And this is one of the games where that has to show up. And especially it's got to show up on the offensive side of the ball. Because that defensive line for Oregon basically returned everybody from last year. And they Canon Stogner: Yeah, they're nasty. Will Morris+: have they've they've not been good so far this year. Like they they have players that you would think like, this should be one of the best defensive lines in the country. And they just have not been that at all. Oklahoma State, who you know basically just took North Texas's team Like North Texas offensive linemen just dominated to some degree. The the defense line from Morgan State. So I think that's the biggest matchup for me. Obviously that has a direct impact on how well Jade Mayob is a able to play. 'cause if they're if they're able to run the ball, obviously Org Oregon has proven themselves to be vulnerable on the back end of that defense as well. So yeah, massive game, Andrew. You touched on it about how important this game is for both teams. for Lincoln Riley on Southern Cal, again, this is at home. Like you have to win this kind of game if you want to announce yourself as a as a true contender. and then if Oregon, like I said, if they lose this game, they're out. Now I will say it is interesting, and we gotta keep in mind that if Oregon does lose this game, this is their first Big Ten loss. And so if a massive amount of craziness did happen. They would still have a chance to get into the Big Ten Championships if they run the table after this. But you have to think if they lose this game, they're probably not winning the rest of their football games if they lose this one. It's kinda like they would kind of be in wounded wounded animal mode to use a Josh Payton turn the rest of the the rest of the season. kind of like what Penn what happened to Penn State last year, ironically to Oregon, to where it's like they came into the game into the year with national title aspirations, they lose a big game. and then the rest of the year they just were not the same football team. I think you could see something similar here if Oregon does does lose this game. really it would be they wouldn't be the same football team after the Oklahoma State loss, but this would just prove that Lord, we're we're dealing with a different football team now than we thought we had in the preseason. Canon Stogner: Yeah. well you kind of touched on like the recruiting style that they did. I'm pretty sure I don't know how it is now, but I know at the start of the season, or at least through the first two games, USC had six freshmen starting out of twenty-two guys. Offense and defense, they had six freshmen starting. And I'm not gonna say this is gonna cause them to win or lose this game, but you have to think for these freshmen having four games of experience now. It kind of feels like, all right, like no more, like, you know, we're babying here you here. So I think this schedule has worked out perfectly for USC. You go in, you get you dominate your first two couple of games, get settled in, you play a Rutgers team who a lot of people are saying is the worst college football team ever, and you beat them by a touchdown. Andrew Wright: Mm-hmm. Canon Stogner: I think their schedule has worked out perfect in that sense that, okay, yeah, we dominated now a wake up call. Now we got Oregon. Now it's time to really play football. So Andrew Wright: Mm-hmm. Canon Stogner: I I I think they're going to come out ready to play. And you're right, this is Lincoln Riley's. This is this is his game. This is like his official game. We're no more reviving the school, reviving the team, and trying to come back from what Andrew Wright: Yeah. Will Morris+: Yeah yeah. Canon Stogner: you know what you were with Pete Carroll and all of them. This is your fourth Andrew Wright: Mm-hmm. Canon Stogner: or fifth year now, and it's time to go. Will Morris+: Yeah, you gotta show it now. Andrew Wright: Yep. Canon Stogner: Yeah. all right. Let's move into. A ranked matchup, probably the sleepiest matchup of the whole weekend. Don't know if I'll be tuning into this game. Could be if you love a defensive game, tune in. because I'm saying this, it's probably gonna be like a 50 to 45 game. but number 17, Iowa is playing number 18, Michigan. this game will kick off at 3:30. Both teams are 3-0. 65th meeting between the two teams, with Michigan leading the all-time series 45 to 15 and 4. And they are currently on a four-game winning streak against Iowa. the Hawkeyes have not won a game at Michigan since 2010. This will be their first visit since 2019, though. Iowa is coming off a 55-0 win over northern Iowa and another win over northern Illinois 40 to nothing, and then beating Iowa State 16 to 13. So they've only given up 13 points in three games. So they have given up like a little over four points a game. They are averaging 37 a game, but when they did play a power four team, they only scored 16. Michigan, 3 0 as well, coming off a dramatic 13 12 win against Western Michigan, and then victory over number 11 Oklahoma at the time, and then a 52 to 17 dominant win over UTEP. Bryce Underwood's starting to look a little bit more confident. Kyle Winningham, you know, feels like he's starting to imply his philosophy in there. I do think Michigan's gonna win this game. I just don't think I was ready for the the big house. And, you know, it feels like every year I was in the same spot. They're ranked top fifteen, top twenty. They're on a nationally televised game, and then they blow they do terrible. Sorry. Andrew Wright: Mm-hmm. Canon Stogner: So what do you have here? I think this is gonna be a run heavy game, both sides, and defense that gives up the Big plays are gonna be the one that loses this game. Andrew Wright: Yeah, that's kind of kind what I think just very very low score and defensive slugfest. I think if there's a world where somehow Some scoring does start happening. I think Michigan's definitely favored would be the favorite to kind of win one of those style of games where it does kind of start like, okay, we're getting into like the 24 20 28 24 type of game, but I do think Allah has a chance if they can if they can force Bryson to wear some bad turnovers like he is prone to do As a young quarterback, still, I do think they have a really legitimate chance to win. This kind of starts a three game stretch for them that I kind of mentioned before the season that they can go one and two in these three games against Michigan. I believe it's Michigan, Ohio State and Oregon that they play in their next three games. And if they can just somehow find a way to win one of those three games, one of those three, I think they'll be sitting 10 and two in the year in a very good spot. So very big spot for them. I would leave Michigan a little bit as well, just because they probably have a better roster, top to bottom, a better quarterback, probably a better coach. And then at home. I would lean them, but watch out for Iowa. This is a very sneaky spot for Michigan to kind of lose, not lose their second game of the season, but a very, very weird spot for them. They could definitely slip up and lose. Will Morris+: Yeah, I I really, really, really want to pick Iowa to win this game. And I might talk myself into it, so y'all just gotta give me until I'm done talking here. but Iowa is a very, very proud program. I know you mentioned, Canaan, that a lot of times they show up in these big games and they'll be ranked somewhere in the fifteen to twenty range and then they lose. And that is the case. through the first two games you thought that maybe Iowa would have they actually found some semblance of an offense. ever since Kirk Forens is there, I they average like thirteen points a game and win nine games a year or something like something ridiculous, you know? so I know a lot of a lot of people down south don't pay attention to them a lot, but that that that's a very, very proud program. They take pride in the fact that they're physical and they're gonna hit you in the mouth and they might not have the best athletes in the world, but they're gonna challenge you physically. And so from I think do you touch on this from a Michigan perspective, if you turn the ball over, this could this could get ugly. because Andrew Wright: Mm-hmm. Will Morris+: if Iowa doesn't have to move the ball the length of the field to go get seven points and they only have to go twenty five, thirty, or thirty-five yards to go get seven. that could swing this game. and so if you're Iowa, I think you gotta be you got to be looking for a turnover. but they also might just be the better team. Like Michigan beat Oklahoma and we we thought, man, that's a good, you good win for Michigan. Maybe they just slipped up week one. Oklahoma looks like they just suck though. So Michigan Canon Stogner: Yeah. Andrew Wright: Mm-hmm. Will Morris+: might not be a team worth talking about nationally. And so Iowa may just be better than them. Now it gives you pause because last week that sixteen to thirteen win over Iowa State. I know that's a rivalry game, so we can kind of put an asterisk beside that a little bit. but that Iowa State team got gutted last year, obviously, with Matt Campbell going to Penn State. So a little pause there. I did talk myself into picking Iowa now, just because I I thought about the Michigan versus Oklahoma performance. And so yeah, giving the Hawkeyes on the road, that would be a massive win for them, like you said, especially Going up against the the the schedule that they have coming up. if they get it in the year and their only two losses are Ohio State and Oregon, man, they're in the playoffs. So they got a lot of football left. A lot of football left, and you gotta take care of it this week. But but give it give them the Hawkeyes in the big house. Canon Stogner: All right. All right. I didn't know you were such a big AWA fan. Will Morris+: I I like Kirk Ferenc. He d he does a good job. They got Canon Stogner: Yeah. Yeah. Will Morris+: the white bo they got the white boys flying around up there, so Yeah. Canon Stogner: They do. Cooper DeGim is a baller. all right. This game right here is probably the game that has the most stakes going into the weekend. don't feel bad for either one of but kind of feel bad that they're having to play now after not handling business last week. number twenty three, Texas AM versus number ten LSU. where the Aggies are traveling to Baton Rouge to take on the LSU in Tiger Stadium. both teams are two and one going into this weekend. This will be the 14th meeting between these two programs. LSU leads the all time series nine to four. the last time these two teams played, Tex AM came with a 38 to 23 victory during the Brian Kelly era in 2024. Tex AM, they did open up the season with back to back wins against Missouri State and Arizona State, winning those games 50 0 and 48 20. But then last week they absolutely pooped the bed against Kentucky, a game kind of like you you probably weren't expecting, or you didn't like even circle in the calendar. You're like, just let's just get out of here healthy. And then you go in, Kentucky goes into Calfield and beats you. And now you got to go play your first road game of the season at LSU at Tiger Stadium. so very tough circumstances for them. LSU also two and one. Coming off a loss to Ole Miss. but you still feel like this is a massive opportunity because both teams still have a lot of SEC games left. I mean, both of them are only in their second game, but they still got seven more to go after this. one of the biggest storylines for me is how will the defense respond? they gave up thirty-one points to Kentucky last week after allowing just twenty points combined in their first two. so very big game for them, and you know. LSU's probably going to come out firing. They will be without Tredez Green this week, which is a big loss for LSU. But Mike Elko, I he I think the defense is going to be ready. He said last week that that was one of the worst defensive performances he's ever seen, at least as a head coach. So you got to expect Texas A Texas AM is going to bounce back. And Texas AM is kind of like South Carolina in the fact that obviously they're the better team or they're looked at as a better team. But they always you always feel like they had that one hiccup game every year. Andrew Wright: Mm-hmm. Canon Stogner: so massive game. But could you imagine the storyline if Lane Kiffin loses this game at home? Andrew Wright: Yeah. Canon Stogner: And you know, you lose to Ole Miss, you lose the biggest game of the year. You beat Clemson, who turns out they're awful. They're not that good. And then you beat Louisiana Tech, which you blew them out like forty two to fourteen or something like that. But it was really a little bit closer of a game than what the score was. but a lot of that had to do with Sam Levitt. Sam Levitt has to take care of the ball. Andrew, what you got? Andrew Wright: Yeah, I think this is a I think this is a very weird game It's just a weird spot for both because we haven't seen either one of these teams play off a loss yet And now they're both doing it together like going into the season looking at schedule. We probably thought hey one of them's coming off a loss Definitely not both So definitely interesting to see kind of who bounces off of that first and kind of who gets the momentum who gets the ball rolling who can get down the field early Like you said Sam Levitt has to take care of the ball. I he has five interceptions already this season Now the one he threw Saturday night in the game kind of fluke he hit a helmet but he did the three against LA Tech and had one against cluster Canon Stogner: Guardian Cap. Andrew Wright: on the first drive of the game against Clemson. So like he does have to take care of ball and if he doesn't, Texas A can roll in there and kind of shock grilled. And I really think I know it's early in the SEC season and both these teams probably have what seven more SEC games left after this one. I think the losers done. I really do like you can't I just don't think there's a world you can start owing to with either one of the schedules those two teams have. So really, really important. almost must win for both sides to kind of keep their season alive and keep themselves in contention for an SEC championship opportunity. Will Morris+: Yeah, I think I think on that I think and this is just I know that the SEC obviously went to nine conference games this year, so that makes a huge difference if the SEC. But there are just so many and and I said this at the beginning of the year too, but there are so many games that feel like if they lose this, they're done. We're saying Andrew Wright: Mm-hmm. Will Morris+: that about Oregon and Southern Cal. We're saying that about this game. I think there's another game we're kinda saying that about too. But it's like there's so many big games early in the season, specifically in this week, where it's like, dude, if you lose this game, you're done. Now, I say that, caveat that big caveat is I don't think we get to the end of the year, we have that many ten plus win teams. I think I you know, Canon Stogner: I agree. Will Morris+: I said that at the beginning of the team. So it's like we think these teams are done and they probably are. I still think they probably are. But it's like, man, there there's still a lot of chaos between now and selection Sunday that could happen. to where you do have a three loss team, maybe multiple three loss teams. I actually I in my playoff predictions, I had multiple three loss teams in the playoffs, and we'll see if that happens or not. but I mean we're headed we're headed for a world in which a a three loss team really, really has to be considered to to be in the playoff. we'll see if that plays out or not. there's a lot of chaos between now and then but man, you're looking at these games and you're like, dude, they're done if they lose this. it's like, yeah, maybe, maybe not though. We'll see. but Huge game if you are Lane Kiffin. all after all the hype with that week one win against Clemson to come out and lose two games in a row would be a massive detriment, obviously, to the hype the the lane hype train. So massive game for him. Also a massive game for Mike Elko. it has always been the case since he's been there that they just cannot win the big game. Marcel Reed is kind of giving me Lenore Sellers vibes where he just makes throws sometimes. You're like, what what are you looking? Like, what are you looking at? Like that was a throw that you made in eighth grade on BT. You know what I mean? Canon Stogner: Yeah. Will Morris+: Just like the guy standing right in front of you, why did he throw it there? So actually actually Canon Stogner: Nothing wrong with that, by the way. Will Morris+: I actually play I actually played golf with the guy who's an AM fan this week, and he thinks that they should mention. I don't know if that's the case. I d I definitely don't think that's the case, but we'll see. Maybe it goes and proves me wrong if there's another couple of interceptions this week. but he's gotta step up, man. I mean, if he I mean, th again, they went eleven and no last week against a marshmallow schedule for the first eleven games and then got work the next two games against Texas and in the playoff. so they you know, Marcel Reed is yet to show that he can win the big game. Mike Elko has yet to show that he can win the big game. This would be massive if they go in there and win. Andrew Wright: Mm-hmm. Will Morris+: but it would be equally as detrimental if they lose this two. So, The the stakes are very, very high in this game for both for both programs. Canon Stogner: Yeah. And like kinda like you said, the three loss thing, that Texas Ohio State game was massive. Like Ohio State, I feel like we haven't talked about it in the last two weeks 'cause they've been s sleepy schedules, but I mean they have one loss right now. And they have a tough schedule. Andrew Wright: Yeah. Will Morris+: Yeah. Canon Stogner: And I I heard a stat. I don't know if it was one of y'all that told me or somebody told me the day after the Texas Ohio State game. But Ryan Day has lost his last four or five power four games. Which is crazy to hear Andrew Wright: you Canon Stogner: as like, or maybe it was last three or four. He's lost like he's only won one of his last four or five power four matchups. Which Andrew Wright: Peace. Canon Stogner: is crazy to hear as a like Ohio State being the top program Will Morris+: Right, right. Canon Stogner: in football. But anyways, we're gonna speed along these next couple of games. Funny saying it like this, but number nineteen Missouri will travel to number twenty four Mississippi State. You don't say you don't see a ranked matchup between these two teams very often. Andrew Wright: Mm-mm. Canon Stogner: not gonna dive into it too much. I think Mississippi will dog walk Missouri. Austin Simmons will be without Ahmad Hardy again. Ahmad Hardy looks like he might Andrew Wright: Thank you. Canon Stogner: be sitting out the whole year and just preparing for the draft. I know he had got shot in the leg or something. But I don't see him playing. I don't I know. I know I'm a bad guy. I'm a I'm a bad guy. I'm a bad guy. I'm a bad guy. but Mississippi Andrew Wright: next Will Morris+: Dude, come on, man. Yeah, you're a bad guy. That's exactly right. Tell yourself that. Canon Stogner: State, very good coming off a win against South Carolina last week. Austin Simmons has been taking very good care of the ball. Andrew Wright: Yeah. Canon Stogner: he has not turned the ball over yet this year. Tigers won the most recent matchup 49 to 27 last November. I don't know if y'all have seen the clip recently. It's been circulating recently. But Missouri's on like the goal line and they're running the clock out and Drinkwitz like pretty much walks onto the field and yells, Mississippi State, like if you don't stop talking crap, I'm gonna score. And I don't know how many returners Mississippi State has, but I can guarantee they remember that and Jeff Levy Andrew Wright: Thank you. Canon Stogner: knows about that. And I think I don't know if this game's gonna be a blowout. It could be, but I could very well see Mississippi State running the score up, regardless Andrew Wright: Mm-hmm. Canon Stogner: of the score. I don't think Eli Drinkwitz is very liked in the coaching. World. one thing to watch for though is Mississippi State's or excuse me, Missouri's running back. he has been very good. Jamal Roberts, he leads the Tigers with 300 rushing yards and three touchdowns, including a hundred and thirty yard performance against Troy last week. but he is a very good running back and he's kind of built like a mod Hardy. Very similar build. So watch out for him. Just quick analysis from you two. Andrew Wright: I just think Mississippi State's a really, really good football team. That place is going to be juiced up on Saturday afternoon. It's their first game as a ranked team since 2022. And it's the first ranked matchup at Mississippi State since that same game in 2022. So I think that's a really juiced up place. I think they're going to try to set the world record for the most cowbells ranked at one time on Saturday afternoon, if I saw that correctly on Twitter. So that place will be really juiced up. And I think they take care of business at home and get themselves to four and and like really truly finally emerge as a real threat in the SEC. Will Morris+: Yeah, I do think Mississippi State is a good football team. I don't think they're to the point where they can just show up and beat a team handily like Missouri. Missouri's a good football team, and I know Drinkwood's just got some hate there, but for some reason I've always kind of liked him for some reason. I hate that he beat South Carolina, and I know this is just a completely complimentary take here. but Missouri's a good football team, and Drinkwood's always has those guys outperforming what their talent level says they should perform. Austin Simmons is a good quarterback. There was a reason why he did start over Trinidad Chambliss at some point. Now, obviously, looking back, you're like, well, you know, what in the world were you thinking, Lane Kiffin? And you don't say that very often about Lane Kiffin and quarterback. So I do believe in Austin Simmons. They got a good win over Kansas earlier this year. that's a decent team from Kansas as well. And Missouri beat them pretty handily. So I don't think that Mississippi State is just gonna dog walk them. I do think Missouri's gonna put up a fight. I'm probably not gonna pick them. I I I don't have a a a really good feel on this game, but Mississippi from top to bottom I don't think still is the kind of team that that can just show up and just expect themselves to win. especially not against a ranked team. so I expect the game to be close. I expect it to be hard fought. I do expect Kamario Taylor to continue to play good. Just because it's contrarian, I am gonna taught myself I taught myself into a Missouri win here. So so give me the give me the Missouri Tigers to to beat Mississippi State and kinda surprise the world a little bit. slow down the Kamario Taylor hype train. kinda remind everybody that you still gotta you still gotta show up every week. maybe maybe a little bit of a letdown spot for Mississippi State too, to be honest. Because that was kinda last week was kinda like hey, we're here and everybody knows we're here now. And then you go back home and it's a it's the opener. Everybody's feeling good, man. Tomario Taylor's feeling good. Everybody's telling him he's so, so, so good at football. and Missouri's just coming in, you know, kinda slowly, ranked number nineteen. we'll see we'll see what happens. Give him give yeah, give give him to me to win. Canon Stogner: Yeah, I mean this would a hundred percent be the South Carolina thing for Missouri to go out there and beat Mississippi State forty to nothing. Just beat him upside the head. Andrew Wright: Mm-hmm. Yep. Canon Stogner: Like that's just such the South Carolina thing to do. You kinda make the excuse that, okay, yeah, we lost to this team, but they're actually a pretty good team. You it's I I've been I've been doing that. Will Morris+: it would make me f it would yeah. It would make me feel so much better if they dogwalt Missouri. Canon Stogner: Yeah, but this feels like it's definitely a South Carolina thing for them to go out there and completely Crap the bed against Missouri. all right. Last game to talk about. We have Clemson traveling to Berkeley, California on Friday night, kicking off at 10:30. both teams are 2-1 and 1-0 in ACC play. this is only the second meeting between these two programs, with the only previous matchup coming in 1992 in the Citrus Bowl. Cal did beat Clemson that year 37 to 13. First time these two teams will meet as ACC opponents. And it's also Clemson's first ever conference game on the West Coast. So through three games, Clemson has struggled to generate much offense at all. obviously going from quarterback to quarterback with Tate Reynolds and Christopher Vizina have not looked very good. They are the worst team on third down in FBS. So I think this game is really setting up for Cal to win, but you kind of feel like Clemson's always gonna be there. They're always gonna be the team that you start to overlook them, and then here they go. They're two and in ACC play, and now your only loss is to LSU. so very good game. I will have Cal winning to this game, or I will have Cal winning this game, but I would not be surprised if Clemson does pull it off. Andrew Wright: Yes, I still don't. I still don't trust Clemson in the slightest. They had a really good second half and Tate Reynolds played really good in that comeback win last week against North Carolina, but I still just don't trust them. I think cows probably better team across the board and so I definitely I'll take Cal to win out West at their home field. A place Clemson is very unfamiliar with weird travel week. We kind of highlighted that before the season ever started. It's a really weird, weird travel week, something they're not used to private done in a long time, so I'll take Cal because of that. Will Morris+: Yeah. another another piece of bad scheduling dynamic for Clemson is that they have Miami next week. So Andrew Wright: Mm-hmm. Will Morris+: possibly, you know, letdown spot possibly for the game that we just talked about. Maybe a possible look ahead spot. look ahead letdown for Clemson here. not much analysis besides what y'all said. they're a bad football team. and I I don't know how they're gonna figure out how to move the ball on offense. I just don't believe in them. And so I'll take the better quarterback. I mean they're the the best quarterback on the field is playing for the the Cal Berkeley Golden Bears. And so giving them to win the football game, I don't think the Clemson has the kind of defense that because they're bad their their offense is bad, you know, usually if that's the case, you're like, Okay, but we have a shutdown defense, a la Iowa possibly. another shout out to the Hawkeye since y'all think I'm a Andrew Wright: you Will Morris+: since y'all think I'm not a Hawkeyes Canon Stogner: Hmm. Will Morris+: fan, but but yeah, gimme the give me cow, give me cow to win. terrible scheduling dynamic for clips in here. Andrew Wright: you Will Morris+: so yeah. Canon Stogner: Don't stay don't sleep in that game after Miami either. That's Andrew Wright: Yeah. Canon Stogner: a that's a three game gauntlet. They got Cal, Miami, Charleston Southern. Will Morris+: R Canon Stogner: Yeah, that's right. Bucks win. real quick, interesting stat. Don't ask me how I got here, how I found it, or if it is even true. But to my Clemson people, if you're still listening, this is the latest Clemson kickoff has had, according to the time zone that it will be Eastern time at ten thirty, since a game against Wake Forest in Tokyo, Japan in nineteen eighty two. Will Morris+: What on earth? What were they doing playing in Tokyo in nineteen eighty two? Canon Stogner: Against my force. I don't know. I don't know. Andrew Wright: Yeah, yeah Will Morris+: They still had they still had samurai running around the streets of Tokyo. Canon Stogner: Yeah, so I mean, yeah, pretty cool stat. Latest kickoff since a game against Wake Force. all Andrew Wright: Alright. Canon Stogner: right, Andrew, read us our s results from our pick'ems and then w I'll explain the snake drive. Andrew Wright: Alright so Will came in and just stole the show last week with a 4 in 1 week nearly had the first sweep of the Saturday Sleip so that moves him to 10 and 5 on the season with 15 points in first place. Cannon you had your first week above 500 last week coming in at 3 and 2 on the week so that puts you at 7 and 8 this season with 12 points big points week for you and then myself had my first week below 500 on the season. Went two and three, so I'm now eight and seven on the season with 10 points. So we have Will at 10 and five with 15, Cannon at seven and eight with 12 points, and then myself at eight and seven with 10 points. Canon Stogner: Okay. All right. So how we're going to do this is every week the winner of the previous week is going to choose where they want to pick. so for example, Will won last week. Will has already declared his first pick, or he is picking first. So he'll pick first. I'll choose to pick third. So Andrew's gonna pick second, so I'll get back-to-back picks. So third, fourth, and then back to you like a snake. All right. Will Morris+: Alright, so first one, and I know this is probably everybody's most obvious pick, but I will say I do want to remind everybody that heading into the Oklahoma-Michigan game, that line was a lot closer than people thought. And then Michigan came out and did what they were gonna do. So I do want to remind people that Vegas does know what they're doing most of the time. but I do think that they are mistaken. I think they have their own team favorite in this game. Give me Ole Miss. They're a three and a half point dog against Florida. it wouldn't surprise me too much. Actually it would. It would surprise me if Florida actually came out and beat Ole Miss, just because Ole Miss is already battle tested. I think the only way that this happens is that Florida gets a couple a couple turnovers. so yeah. So give me give me Ole Miss. Canon Stogner: That's crazy too, 'cause he's gonna get two points if they Andrew Wright: Yeah. Will Morris+: Well I get two points if I pick the favorite and they win too. Andrew Wright: That's true, yeah, that is true. Canon Stogner: I can't believe it. Alrighty Will Morris+: Ha ha ha. Andrew Wright: So Canon Stogner: Subs. Andrew Wright: I'll go with Cal plus one and a half. I actually can't believe Clemson's favorite in this game. I think that's Chan. think Cal came out as the favorite and then that shifted to Clemson. So the last time I looked, Clemson was a point and a half favorite. So I'll take Cal plus the one and a half. Canon Stogner: All right, I am going to pick a team that Cal has lost to, and I think the reason that Clemson is favored is because Cal did lose this game to this team, but I really don't think UCLA is that bad. And US UCLA is the underdogs versus Maryland this week at one and a half. Will Morris+: Who's that? Canon Stogner: U C L A to cover versus Maryland. One and a half. Yeah. Will Morris+: This is that Maryland? Andrew Wright: You Maryland's favorite? Canon Stogner: Or I have plus one and a half, so it might be U C L A's favors. Andrew Wright: Yeah, it's UCLA's favorite about point and a half. Canon Stogner: Okay, well I'm still taking UCLA. Andrew Wright: All right. Canon Stogner: my pick again. Yeah, so UCLA I'm already down three. Indiana beats Northwestern. They're favored by twenty one. I'm taking the points. Andrew Wright: I'll go with Georgia minus 14 against Oklahoma. I think I would have picked them at plus or minus 21, maybe even minus 24, 25. So yeah, I'll take Georgia minus the two touchdowns. Will Morris+: All right, I get two here. I really, really want to throw South Carolina on the board, but I'm not, because they're just gonna break my heart if I do that. So I'm gonna take the victory without making it one of my picks. So what I am gonna take though is I am gonna take Penn State minus nine and a half against Wisconsin. I think that game's too close. Andrew Wright: Great pick. Will Morris+: I think Penn State gets it done. This is this is in Happy Valley as well. so give me Penn State the fighting Matt Campbells. Andrew Wright: Great pit. Had that one on the list. Great pit. Canon Stogner: Yeah, I'm running low. Might have to go back. Andrew Wright: Yeah. Will Morris+: and then I gotta go another one. Alright, let me let me load up load up the other one. Canon Stogner: I thought you just picked her. I thought he picked her. Andrew Wright: No, you pick Penn State, Will Morris+: No, that was just one. Andrew Wright: that was it. Canon Stogner: he said South Carolina. Will Morris+: Okay. Andrew Wright: Yeah. Will Morris+: Okay. Here's what we're gonna do. So I got I got Oklahoma State. Andrew Wright: no. Will Morris+: Yep. They won a half point dog against West Virginia. Now I will say, West Virginia came out last week and beat a very good Virginia team. I think that Canon Stogner: They do. Will Morris+: was a very underrated surprise game from West Virginia there. I think they looked bad I can't remember which game it was, but they looked bad in one of their earlier games against a lesser opponent and then came in and beat Virginia. Canon Stogner: Tulsa, it was Tulsa. Will Morris+: Okay, Tulsa. But Tulsa's a good football team. Canon Stogner: Yeah. Will Morris+: they obviously they took care of business against Oklahoma State. So but I'm gonna ironically take Oklahoma State. to beat West Virginia here. So Canon Stogner: Yeah. Sorry, I thought you were talking about who did Oklahoma State play first game. Yeah. I don't I don't know who West. Will Morris+: okay. Yeah. No, I was talking about West Virginia. West Virginia West Virginia looked bad earli in an earlier game as well. So they could be a sneaky Big Twelve team. I don't I don't think they will be, but we'll see. I mean the the the Big Twelve looks looks pretty dang open right now minus minus Texas Tech. Canon Stogner: Deu aí? Andrew Wright: So, speaking of Tulsa, I'll take Tulsa plus seven against Arkansas. I think I will take Lancaster high school plus seven against Arkansas. Will Morris+: Yeah. Andrew Wright: They are terrible. They're, they're just absolutely pitiful. I don't trust them against anybody. So give me Tulsa to go out and get their second P four win at the season. Will Morris+: Does Tulsa get in the group of six conversation here? Okay. Andrew Wright: Yes, I think so unless they've lost to somebody then I absolutely Will Morris+: They ha they yeah, they have a loss. Andrew Wright: Well, maybe not do well we Canon Stogner: All right. Andrew Wright: we completely left on UNLV before the season so somebody's got to get there Will Morris+: Hey, I had Boise State in. They still look good. They got a big game this week. They play Western Michigan, dude. Yeah, big, big Andrew Wright: You did, you did, you you you did. Huge game. Humongous game against an undefeated team. Will Morris+: G6. Yeah, big G6 game there. Canon Stogner: all right. I'm taking Sam Houston covers versus Texas Tech at thirty four and a half. Will Morris+: That's a good pick. Canon Stogner: Well, but I just put myself at a I can only get one point out of that at most. Andrew Wright: Unless they shot in the world. You did it, you said it. No take backs. Will Morris+: Telling you, we gotta reinvent these rules, man. Andrew Wright: Yeah, we do. You're right. Will Morris+: Ha ha. Canon Stogner: all right, I'm going going for all of it right now. I'm taking USC covers versus Oregon at plus three. And beats Oregon. Will Morris+: Did I did did I make a pick on that game when we were talking about it earlier? I Andrew Wright: You said organ, I believe. Canon Stogner: Yeah, you chose you chose Oregon. Will Morris+: chose Ori, okay, good. Andrew Wright: Back to me. Canon Stogner: Yeah. Andrew Wright: I will take App State plus 14 against NC State. I'm just out on NC State. I'm out on CJ Bailey. So you give me the Mountaineers. Canon Stogner: Yeah, they're dead. App site's three and too. Andrew Wright: Alright Will, what's your final two here? Will Morris+: good question. most of my board's empty now. Ooh. All right. I am gonna take man, I don't I'll be honest, this was to me, this was the toughest week for me to figure out games to pick. I thought these lines were really, really good. I got a lot of lines at like the at or right above the score break point, so like seven points, three points, ten points, fourteen points, that kind of thing. This one is just below it, thankfully, but I'm gonna take Washington at home. Favored by nine and a half against Minnesota. I don't love that Minnesota has to go out there and then play at eleven o'clock. it will be ten o'clock their bodies time, but I still don't love teams going to the West Coast and that's a really good quarterback there with Demon William Demon? Demon? Canon Stogner: Damon. Will Morris+: Demon Demon Williams. So yeah, give me him. and then God to find another one. So Man, I don't wanna make it so I'm looking at Missouri and Mississippi State. I don't wanna make them one of mine. even though I just picked them to win. Yeah, fun. You know what? All right. No, I'm not gonna do it. Okay. Give me Nebraska. They're favored by five and a half. On the road against Michigan State. Nebraska has surprisingly looked pretty good this year. they do have former Panthers coach Matt Rule, and he loves he loves he loves I'll tell you what Matt Rule does do is he loves recruiting athletes. Now they Canon Stogner: Yeah, he does. Will Morris+: may not be able to play football, but they do look really good coming out of the locker room and they look really good just moving around. So maybe they've actually found a way to put those athletes into a position where they can play football well as well. so yeah, give me give me Nebraska over Michigan State. Canon Stogner: Well yeah, you know, the most famous athlete he has recruited is Darylist. The realist Anthony or whatever his name was. Will Morris+: Ha ha. Andrew Wright: My final pick I Canon Stogner: The rillus. Andrew Wright: will take Utah minus eight and a half against our state Will Morris+: Against Iowa State. Andrew Wright: Yes. Will Morris+: Utah's got some out of conference games this year. That's no no, that is a big twelve that's a big twelve game, isn't it? Andrew Wright: Yeah, no, yeah, yeah, you're right. Will Morris+: Yeah, okay. I'm used to I'm I'm still thinking Utah's packed twelve. Andrew Wright: Frog, round us up. Here we go. Will Morris+: Tough man, when that board starts getting a little a little fill. Andrew Wright: I had four left. I had four left on mine. I'm feeling good. Yeah. Will Morris+: really? Well I wanna hear him after his talk too. Canon Stogner: You you just wrote down the slate. Andrew Wright: Nah, I'll tell you, I have to get him Will Morris+: Ha ha. Andrew Wright: fixed. Canon Stogner: That five and a half between Iowa and Michigan. It's tough. It's really, really tough. Will Morris+: I'll sleep on the hall, guys. Canon Stogner: Give me I'm doing for the sake of my sanity and my brain, 'cause I will be absolutely heartbroken if they lose this game. Give me Mississippi State covers versus Missouri six and a half. I would like to know the last time Mississippi was had this big of a spread. I mean it's not a big massive spread, but like a non Andrew Wright: Yeah. Canon Stogner: like a power for. Will Morris+: Well they were there was a coup about four or five years ago, I think you mentioned that they a ranked matchup in twenty twenty two. They were good. There's Andrew Wright: Mm-hmm. Canon Stogner: Yeah. Will Morris+: a couple of those egg bowls that were like top fifteen, Andrew Wright: Yeah. Will Morris+: I think. Canon Stogner: Yeah, but I'm saying like that's that was four or five years ago. Will Morris+: Yeah, no, that's right. They've been bad since then. Andrew Wright: Yeah. All right. Canon Stogner: So I'm taking Missouri. All right. Well, thank y'all for tuning in. This was a very good long podcast. make sure you like, subscribe, comment, call into our voicemail number. see if you can outdo my mother. and make sure you're keeping up with us on the TikTok and Twitter and all those things. Andrew is posting. Will Morris+: Yeah. Shout out shout out if you made it this far in the podcast. Andrew Wright: Yeah, good for y'all. us a comment if you made it this far. Canon Stogner: Yeah, for real. Thank you. yeah, been a grind. we'll be back. with you on Monday, recapping this weekend. See ya.
