Latest / Brandon Fogal Evolution / #194 - Patrick Bet-David vs 20 Anti-Capitalists | Who Won the Debate?
Transcript
- 0:00Patrick David just went on the Jubilee show and debated against 20 anti-capitalists.
- 0:06It was very interesting to watch.
- 0:08Did Patrick David, did he hold his own against these people that are defending
- 0:13mostly communist positions? Not all of them were, but some of them were.
- 0:17And is there any middle ground that we can find between these two?
- 0:21Do you have to be one or the other, either full-blown capitalist or full-blown communist? this.
- 0:26The woman that's on your screen, she's been on a few Jubilee videos that I've seen.
- 0:31She's actually really good at defending her position.
- 0:33I could see her becoming a big name in the future years.
- 0:37So one thing I would say just to start off with about her is I hope she stays
- 0:43reasonable or even gets a little bit more reasonable because she is very good
- 0:48at articulating her positions.
- 0:50But some things I think she can go off the deep end if she's not careful.
- 0:55I just wanted to say that at the front because I think she could be very good
- 1:01at what she does going forward, but stay reasonable.
- 1:05All right, let's take a look at this. This was in the middle of a heated exchange
- 1:08with her that Patrick and David had, and he's defending that capitalist position.
- 1:13But did she bring some actually good ideas to the point?
- 1:16And was Patrick, was he maybe deflecting a little bit and not wanting to answer
- 1:21any of her questions? and that things like food and shelter can be free.
- 1:24How old were you the first time you thought you wanted to be a communist?
- 1:26How old were you the first time? Is that a response to any of the statistics?
- 1:29No, because the statistics are against you. The statistics- It's never worked.
- 1:33It's never- There's so many Cubans
- 1:35that moved to Miami. They love their country. They hate the politics.
- 1:39In Russia, they even run away from communism because it didn't work.
- 1:42It killed so many people. Because that almost like it wasn't communist.
- 1:45It's almost amateurish to debate a communist. Yes, there was. Was there classless?
- 1:48It's almost like you're not replying to any of the statistics that I've presented
- 1:51to you. I think that's the biggest problem.
- 1:53You're a dictator telling me what dreams should be. Dictators would not be allowed under communism.
- 1:55Dictators end up, of course, running communism. But they weren't.
- 1:58If somebody... All right, just right there, like, dictators would not be allowed
- 2:01in communism. Like, what?
- 2:02That doesn't make too much sense at all right there. So some of the things she's...
- 2:06All right, let me... Where I'm coming from is...
- 2:10I think there's always a pendulum swing that everybody, a reaction,
- 2:14wherever there's a reaction, there's going to be a major hyper reaction,
- 2:18an overreaction to the, on the other side.
- 2:21And I think people get so stuck in their ways that you have to be either I'm
- 2:26tethered and tied to communism or I'm tied to capitalism.
- 2:30Whereas is there a little bit of a gray area? Is there a little like some middle
- 2:35ground that people can meet?
- 2:37Because I think both of them have valid points.
- 2:41Communism, I think in a utopia and an idealist,
- 2:45idyllic world that we, if we had like, cause I mean, if we just take this back
- 2:49to the Bible and it seems like even the first, like the first early church that
- 2:54they had a tendency towards, let's all get it together and put all our money in.
- 2:59We all, everybody, there's not really relinquishing a property.
- 3:03And I get that, but it all starts with, if you have goodwill,
- 3:07if P, if there's, if there's goodwill within, within human beings,
- 3:11we can, it could maybe carry out and actually be actually work in this world.
- 3:16But we live in a fallen world. We live in a very terrible, like gruesome world
- 3:22at times that people don't have good hearts.
- 3:25We don't have good hearts. So I think there are things that we can pull from
- 3:29the communist side, as well as the capitalist side.
- 3:32And I, I, this is, uh, I want to continue on what they're saying.
- 3:35But just to point that out, that her saying there's not going to be any dictators,
- 3:39that doesn't really make any sense because any communist regime.
- 3:42If you go full-blown communist, that's what happens.
- 3:46That's what happens. And he does get into where he's trying to question her,
- 3:50is China a communist place?
- 3:53And he's not answering her questions. She's not answering his questions.
- 3:57And so there's like, we're not
- 3:59going to like discover oil or like make any awesome discoveries from this.
- 4:05But like it does point out the glaring things that are obviously wrong with
- 4:09both positions when things are
- 4:11being called out this quick. But I want to continue what they're saying.
- 4:15He's taxing 100%. What is a dictatorship?
- 4:17So again, how much money do you think? If I'm paying 100% in taxes,
- 4:20what is communism? How much money do you think? That's dictatorship.
- 4:23How much money do you think would it take to, I don't know, allow everyone food,
- 4:27shelter, water, and education in this country?
- 4:29How much money would it take? Yeah. But going back to your question here.
- 4:32He's not going to answer that. He ain't going to answer that.
- 4:34And she's not answering his questions because, like, I know they only got,
- 4:38like, 20 seconds or 30 seconds they're out there, so they're both trying to,
- 4:41like, hammer home at the most important things.
- 4:43Her more so because she's on the hot seat. He's not really on the hot seat because
- 4:48she's the one that's going to be voted out, but she's going to be voted out
- 4:50by people that like the communist position.
- 4:55But this—I really wanted to dive into this because—,
- 4:58I know people think, because I agree with capitalism.
- 5:03My come to Jesus moment with capitalism, it sounds silly, but it was when I
- 5:08was looking at different pairs of socks, different pairs of socks,
- 5:11and it made me think, if people make socks, there's going to be somebody out
- 5:15there that's going to want to make a better pair of socks.
- 5:18And it's a game to see who can make the best of something and have that incentive,
- 5:25and have that incentive.
- 5:26Because I think as human beings, we we are naturally if we aren't prodded,
- 5:31sometimes we will become lazy.
- 5:33And if everything belongs to everybody, we're not going to treat it like it's special.
- 5:39So there are arguments definitely for capitalism. And I would lean definitely
- 5:42towards more capitalism.
- 5:44But if we put regulations in place, ideas of communism and people not being.
- 5:51I think that the universal basic income should be fully on the table.
- 5:56And not this pie in the sky thing that people just talk about, but it actually should.
- 6:02Politicians ain't going to get anything done. It seems like unless you get someone
- 6:07crazy in there, crazy in there that cares about these things.
- 6:12Donald Trump, he's in there, but he's fiercely capitalistic.
- 6:16And the people that are fiercely capitalistic are the people that have it all
- 6:20together. And they got it.
- 6:21They got their billions of dollars. They got their millions of dollars.
- 6:24They got their businesses and they're running.
- 6:27They understand what is going to incentivize people and how to make their,
- 6:31they know how to grease the wheel so that their businesses keep going and thriving.
- 6:35But if we look at it just from a different perspective, the people are at the bottom.
- 6:40So it's this argument from the bottom to the top. And it's like,
- 6:43can we find out some common ground between these?
- 6:46Why do we have to have one or the other? You're either capitalist or you're communist.
- 6:50Why can't we pull from both? good ideas
- 6:53from both and not just say because it because
- 6:56communism has wrecked civilizations it
- 7:00is terrible in a lot of ways you know communism i think that tony montana tony
- 7:04montana wanted to escape communism he wanted to come from cuba to miami to the
- 7:08united states without jimmy carter jimmy carter you know but like at the end
- 7:12of the day like there's good ideas in both but the human heart,
- 7:17the human heart will, will wreck things and tear like,
- 7:20and just torch things at on the Capitol to the side, as well as on the communist side.
- 7:25If, if you give absolute power to someone, to a person, a regular person,
- 7:31they're going to corrupt it because we are all, we are all depraved and sinful.
- 7:35We will like fall to the lowest common denominator given the opportunity because
- 7:40we are selfish by nature.
- 7:43But like, there should be things of the ideas of communism.
- 7:47That's why I want to almost bring to the table, like, let's pull those things.
- 7:50Because she brings a lot of good ideas and good arguments is what she says.
- 7:55And Patrick, he has his talking points and he stays on them.
- 7:59He doesn't really answer any of her questions.
- 8:02Some of the things are out there, are outlandish, that we should be able to quickly, quickly see.
- 8:09But I just want to bring up the, this is a, because we always have where it's
- 8:15like on one society, they want something, it happens, it fails.
- 8:19And then we just go so far on the opposite way.
- 8:23And then it's just unrecognizable. And then we just swing back and forth and back and forth.
- 8:28And that's all we're doing all day long, as opposed to let's be reasonable.
- 8:33And I think Patrick, he's definitely reasonable. And I think she is as well.
- 8:37They're coming from two different perspectives.
- 8:39I'd actually like to see them actually have a conversation and not just want to win an argument.
- 8:45If it's all about winning an argument and making somebody look stupid,
- 8:48I know it's funny and all,
- 8:50but I mean, there are things that we could pull from both people's ideas and
- 8:55get to some real common sense solutions to the issues that we are having in the United States.
- 9:01Because we are the best country on the planet, you know, I would say.
- 9:05But there is going to be this massive crash if we're not careful because if
- 9:10we just take capitalism to the far ends of where it leads to,
- 9:15it's going to crash and crumble because the people at the bottom,
- 9:19the boomers have ruined it in a lot of ways.
- 9:22Not like them as individual people, but that generation has ruined it for Gen
- 9:29Z and the generations that are following because people can't afford things.
- 9:34They're having to buy now or buy now, pay later for everything.
- 9:39And so it's people can't afford a house. People can't just afford general things
- 9:44that they need, that there's going to be a massive reaction.
- 9:48So the capitalist diehards that are out there, you better put your head on and
- 9:53actually let's figure some things out.
- 9:55People don't, these exorbitant amounts of money that, you know,
- 9:59Elon Musk, the huge billionaires out there.
- 10:01I think that's great. Go ahead and have that, you know, but just saying that,
- 10:05well, let's tax them. I think policies need to be put in place that just give
- 10:10universal basic income to everybody, citizens of the United States.
- 10:15We don't need to be taken from the rich, but actually let's just give to the
- 10:19people that don't have as much and raise them up. We don't need to pull people up from the top down.
- 10:25Our direction shouldn't be pulling people down, but our direction should be
- 10:29always pulling people up.
- 10:30And if that should be, give people a universal basic income that they can live
- 10:34and then they have that foundation, and then they can go out there and be gangbusters,
- 10:39creative, and build things.
- 10:42That's where we should go as a society. Come together from both ends.
- 10:46Otherwise, we are going to crumble.
- 10:47Because if you go in one or two directions, it's going to fail eventually.
- 10:52All right. Either way, follow me on X and Instagram at Brandon Fogle. Have a good day.
