- 0:01Tad Eggleston: So, Phil, I know that, like, this morning, you thought that I was all gung-ho for this podcast, and…
- 0:09Tad Eggleston: I'm doing great and whatnot, but… but fucking Lee and Edgar can't decide what they're doing with their comic shop. I mean, they're doing cool things, and everybody should go shop at Modern Age Comics, but they can never figure out what they want me to do, and it's taking up all of my time and energy, and I don't want them to fail, so I don't know how I can do both the podcast and…
- 0:32Tad Eggleston: And keep them in line as well.
- 0:35Tad Eggleston: So,
- 0:36Tad Eggleston: I keep all rights. This is not like a… this is still a work-for-hire thing, like, look at the back of your check, it says that I own you.
- 0:47Tad Eggleston: But you gotta do all 22 panels on your own, cause I'm… I'm done. 22 panels, no more, man.
- 0:54Phil: Oh, well, it's good to hear that, there's at least the dream of 22 panels checks sometime in the future to expect. Hello, everybody, welcome to.
- 1:04Tad Eggleston: I mean, I can send you a 22 panels check.
- 1:07Phil: It'll, it'll, it'll be, it'll be for a negative amount, so it'll, it'll cost me money to receive it.
- 1:13Tad Eggleston: I mean, I will send it, I will send it, like…
- 1:16Tad Eggleston: Postage upon delivery, and it'll be, like, funny money, but…
- 1:20Phil: Oh, sure, yeah.
- 1:21Phil: Yeah, I'll accept, I'll accept some…
- 1:23Tad Eggleston: I want the check, I can… I can arrange it!
- 1:27Phil: I…
- 1:28Tad Eggleston: Do you want one that a bank will accept?
- 1:31Tad Eggleston: That's a different thing.
- 1:33Phil: I don't need to deal with banks that much anyway, you know, banks… banks are overrun.
- 1:37Peter Eggleston Connor: Are you…
- 1:38Peter Eggleston Connor: I'm gonna have Kelly go off and, like, you know, draw up the check then, and it'll just be, like, Monopoly check.
- 1:44Phil: It's actually, it's gonna be his face on a $22 bill.
- 1:48Tad Eggleston: And then he has to find the place.
- 1:51Peter Eggleston Connor: I'll take it.
- 1:53Tad Eggleston: and not… Well, so it's, you know…
- 1:58Phil: It's a check, but it's made out in the 22 panels, the woodbucks, you know, so that's what.
- 2:04Tad Eggleston: Right.
- 2:05Phil: good for. Again, this is why banks don't accept it. They just haven't stumbled upon his, better form of currency.
- 2:12Tad Eggleston: I mean, you know… No, I'm not even gonna go there. No.
- 2:18Phil: I think that's enough economics for one episode.
- 2:22Tad Eggleston: Haha, I mean, Nobody wants their own currency right now, so…
- 2:27Tad Eggleston: It might be our get-rich-quick piece.
- 2:30Tad Eggleston: how to create a cryptocurrency?
- 2:31Phil: I… see… see, I was a supporter.
- 2:34Peter Eggleston Connor: What coin is too far?
- 2:38Peter Eggleston Connor: I saw some article on how people were using their farming of cryptocurrency to heat their homes, so… Wow, incredible.
- 2:48Peter Eggleston Connor: So, making money, well… Sorry, quote-unquote, making money while you keep your home.
- 2:57Phil: There's too many series of air quotes in that. There's making money, and then money has its own little quotes around it, too.
- 3:04Tad Eggleston: I mean, frankly, they were making
- 3:08Tad Eggleston: Money, whether or not they were…
- 3:11Tad Eggleston: Making legal tender is a completely different thing.
- 3:16Phil: They were making money. Profits? Absolutely not.
- 3:20Tad Eggleston: Okay.
- 3:21Phil: And with that, with that, we are, jumping into… we're continuing a little bit of Persona Generation, because this is, this is gonna be an episode that… that ends up,
- 3:33Phil: how do we say, in media res of the mind, I guess? I don't know, we'll see where it goes. But, she's a figure that's haunted this series since, episode 2. That is the character of Strife, who, of course, is Garrion's half-sister, older half-sister.
- 3:50Tad Eggleston: Episode 2?
- 3:52Phil: We did. We've had several Episode 2s, you know? Oh, yeah. Okay. Yeah.
- 3:59Tad Eggleston: I mean, I thought, I thought 2 was the number we skip.
- 4:02Tad Eggleston: I'm trying to remember which floor it was that they didn't have at the hospital that Kelly was in. No, no. It wasn't 13. They had a 13.
- 4:10Phil: Okay.
- 4:12Tad Eggleston: They didn't have, I think, a 6?
- 4:15Phil: weird.
- 4:16Phil: Did they have… they had a 7, though, I bet.
- 4:18Tad Eggleston: Right.
- 4:19Phil: Yeah.
- 4:21Tad Eggleston: You went from 5 to 7 in the elevator, but there was a 13. 5 to 7 just doesn't feel right. There was, like, a significant, like…
- 4:29Tad Eggleston: I don't think it was a hidden floor, because it didn't take longer to get there.
- 4:34Phil: Okay.
- 4:35Tad Eggleston: But we should, like, get… back on task. This is why it's better when I multitask.
- 4:42Phil: You assume… you assume there's an on-task for this game. There is.
- 4:46Tad Eggleston: Because… because when I'm not doing something else, I wind up talking about things that have nothing to do with the game.
- 4:54Phil: Believe it or not, I… elevators are a pet subject of fascination for me. I have, too, have visited many a hospital, and I have taken a hobby of making sure their elevator inspection certificates are up to date, because I've been stuck in an elevator before, and it's not fun!
- 5:14Phil: Hopefully this episode won't feel like you're stuck in the elevator with all of us, because that would be a tight.
- 5:19Tad Eggleston: Well, I don't know, we could have love in an elevator.
- 5:23Tad Eggleston: Well, maybe not. I don't know if I wanna…
- 5:26Phil: I mean.
- 5:28Tad Eggleston: You guys are nice and all, but…
- 5:31Phil: No thanks.
- 5:33Phil: It's.
- 5:34Peter Eggleston Connor: Oh, you're talking about Rose, but okay.
- 5:36Tad Eggleston: Oh, okay, well, yeah, no, okay.
- 5:38Phil: He said as he multitas, you can have your imaginary love in an elevator in the captain's quarters right about now.
- 5:45Phil: Oh.
- 5:45Peter Eggleston Connor: There's an elevator in the captain's quarters.
- 5:48Phil: You know, that'd be pretty sweet.
- 5:51Tad Eggleston: Of course there is!
- 5:52Phil: The boat is literally the god of the forge.
- 5:55Peter Eggleston Connor: Is it a glass elevator?
- 5:57Phil: No.
- 5:58Phil: No, it's… it's not. That's… we're not… we're not getting Wonka, although it is a chocolate boat, so, I mean, we're a little.
- 6:04Tad Eggleston: Oh, that's right, I forgot that. So we are very Wonka. So, I'm pretty certain that there is a glass elevator inside the captain's quarters, you just don't know about it.
- 6:14Phil: You know?
- 6:14Tad Eggleston: Because you haven't been allowed inside the captain's quarters.
- 6:16Phil: If you haven't given back your everlasting gobstopper.
- 6:20Tad Eggleston: Well, yeah.
- 6:21Phil: And you drain Z Potion.
- 6:24Tad Eggleston: I actually took two Everlasting Gobstoppers.
- 6:27Phil: How do I know?
- 6:27Tad Eggleston: He did one for Rose.
- 6:30Tad Eggleston: There you go. Floodworth is an ass.
- 6:36Phil: Oh, good times. Okay, Strife. She was Garian's sister. Garian was, of course, the poor sap, now dead, who gathered us all together. Although I… he didn't have a connection to Lee, so that's… that's a little interesting. That's a little interesting how you… you're… you're here. I think that's still… that's gonna be… you know, I'm gonna write down that that's probably gonna be…
- 7:00Phil: My ongoing mystery for you is, why are you here?
- 7:05Larry Woods: Isn't that the question? He was bored one day?
- 7:08Larry Woods: You know?
- 7:09Phil: You know, I mean, hey, we don't… we don't ask those types of questions on this podcast.
- 7:14Phil: But… but yes, what, what are… what is your significance here? Because, Strife's significance is that, she was… so this is… this is actually… Strife is based off of my own sister, who, believe it or not.
- 7:27Phil: Oddly enough, I never played D&D in high school, but she did. She had a D&D group, and I thought that was so cool, and I wanted to be a part of it, but I never was, you know? And so much in that way, Garian's childhood, she was always the cool older sister who had the D&D group that he wanted to get into, formed this one with Alan and Lex.
- 7:52Phil: And Eamon, Eamon is an adjacent, so it's really with Lex and Alan, in, an attempt to…
- 8:00Phil: you know, kind of break into that.
- 8:04Phil: And we also did reveal that, Garian had a previous game with…
- 8:12Phil: With Strife and some other people she used to know, her old D&D group, and that was the first game of Die that he had played, and so this is… this is the second game that is going on. Possibly even a game within a game, subtly, maybe. We'll figure it out.
- 8:29Phil: But one of the questions I posed to the group here, so she, Strife, she was the lead singer of a metal band. I am kind of mentally, anyone listening that's familiar with heavy metal, I'm kind of like…
- 8:44Phil: I've been listening to and loving the new Pupil Slicer album, Fleshwork, so of course, I'm, like, mentally thinking, okay, her band was a little bit like Pupil Slicer, but the reason they broke up was,
- 9:00Phil: because, Strife… this is… this is now similar to another battle band, The Agonist, that, the lead singer was, trying to… to join the band Arch Enemy and band both projects, and so they kicked her out of that one. So it was a little bit of merging of a couple different things. But…
- 9:17Phil: to say the least, they were abrasive. They were not everyone's cup of tea. So, I… I threw out to the group, hey.
- 9:23Phil: How would, even though you've never met this person, you never met this person until you were in the game, they've still had an influence on your life in the real world someday. How has…
- 9:33Phil: you know, their music.
- 9:36Phil: irritated you? Your character, your persona? How is it…
- 9:40Phil: affected you, even without realizing it, who's behind it, who is now, you know, this,
- 9:47Phil: Villain, this villainous figure in our fantasy world.
- 9:52Phil: Lee, I know you said that… that you have… you might have had an answer to that one there.
- 9:56Larry Woods: Yeah,
- 9:58Larry Woods: So, the band that stands out to me, I had to Google it because I forgot how to spell it, but it's a band called OTEP.
- 10:07Phil: Okay. How do you spell that?
- 10:09Larry Woods: O-T-E-P.
- 10:12Phil: Okay.
- 10:13Larry Woods: and American New Metal Band, but the…
- 10:17Larry Woods: it's… the interesting thing about this that I know for me, and from a real-life experience, when I first was introduced to this band, it was the first time that I heard, like, a lead singer, a female lead singer of a metal band.
- 10:30Phil: Oh, okay.
- 10:32Larry Woods: So, the part that was… Very confusing and off-putting for me at the time was that
- 10:41Larry Woods: It was a female that screamed.
- 10:45Phil: in that way, and it…
- 10:47Larry Woods: I… it made me… physically uncomfortable. Nice. But…
- 10:54Larry Woods: I mean, now, I'm…
- 10:56Larry Woods: open to a lot more, but that would be the band that stands out to me. I don't remember the name of the song that I listened to, but OTEP is the band.
- 11:04Phil: I… I'm definitely gonna have to check them out then. That is, that's… that's gonna be a must for me. No, and that's just a reminder that, sometimes growth starts from an uncomfortable place. But hell yeah, that's… that's awesome.
- 11:18Larry Woods: Yeah, I get it, I hear you.
- 11:21Phil: Yeah, yeah, yeah. And just, like, so, so, from that experience, how would you apply that to, so you're saying that Willie, like, on the radio or somewhere in his life, encountered,
- 11:34Phil: the fictional band here, I think I had a name for them at one point, I will have to look that up through the notes to see if I did, but
- 11:43Phil: like, he… he similarly heard it, experienced… saw a female singer, screamer, and was, like, physically uncomfortable. Is… are you saying that, like, that's… that's kind of a… to tie it back to the game, or…
- 11:54Larry Woods: Yeah, I would say that, I don't necessarily want to say Willie is old school, but I know that he has a lot of old school influences. So, like, this is the way music should be. We're going back to the air quotes here.
- 12:07Phil: Yeah.
- 12:07Larry Woods: For the audio audience.
- 12:10Larry Woods: But a lot of, maybe sort of traditional values, so it was like, wait, women aren't supposed to do that, women aren't? So, maybe it's sort of uncomfortable on several different fronts.
- 12:21Phil: Okay.
- 12:22Larry Woods: But yeah, I would definitely say that he probably encountered them and was just like…
- 12:26Larry Woods: It's completely just turned off.
- 12:28Larry Woods: Do that.
- 12:29Phil: Damn.
- 12:30Phil: Makes sense, makes sense. It'd be, yeah. I, I do… it's funny how, despite that, reaction.
- 12:39Phil: coming from Willie, it's… I still… I still like him as a character. You know, I'm still interested to see… see who he is, what… what he's got under… under the surface. Did anyone else have… have thoughts on the prompt, or, can we… can we kind of jump in with,
- 12:55Phil: To things from here.
- 12:58Peter Eggleston Connor: So just so I understand the prompt a little bit better, we're talking about, how our character is related, or…
- 13:08Phil: How they might have… Come across, you know, this invasive music.
- 13:15Phil: That they, they most likely didn't like, that they had a reaction to. You know, just kind of a… kind of a, you know, weaving an interconnected web of, hey, this is a person you never knew, but now they hate their guts, and you're fighting to the death.
- 13:30Phil: And they've been, you know, kind of like a musical thorn in your ear for, longer than you were aware.
- 13:41Peter Eggleston Connor: Bye.
- 13:41Chang Po (Brae Bluewalker of the Veilthat Clan): Grad students are constantly listening to it at the library.
- 13:44Phil: Awesome.
- 13:46Phil: Awesome. So it's like.
- 13:48Peter Eggleston Connor: Go ahead.
- 13:49Phil: No, no, you go ahead.
- 13:51Peter Eggleston Connor: No, no, you should… you should finish up with… with…
- 13:53Phil: Oh, it was just, it was just buzzing over.
- 13:55Peter Eggleston Connor: And then I'll jump in.
- 13:56Phil: The headphones, yeah, like the… like, it's like the… it's like, you know, even if you're not hearing at full volume, it's that, like.
- 14:02Peter Eggleston Connor: Oh, God.
- 14:02Phil: At, like, a 2, so that you just hear the, like, beep of it, and .
- 14:08Peter Eggleston Connor: So, so annoying. Somebody's just wearing their headphones, but it's like, yeah, you're not even doing what you're supposed to be doing with those.
- 14:15Phil: It's like me at work.
- 14:17Peter Eggleston Connor: Oh, dear, Phil. Seriously?
- 14:21Peter Eggleston Connor: You're one of those people?
- 14:23Phil: Not quite. I mean, I can't tell.
- 14:24Tad Eggleston: That guy.
- 14:25Phil: Clearly, I'm that guy.
- 14:29Peter Eggleston Connor: Damn.
- 14:30Peter Eggleston Connor: What I was gonna say is, I can imagine, like,
- 14:36Peter Eggleston Connor: I mean, like, you do these little exhibitions and dance.
- 14:40Peter Eggleston Connor: And you'll… you'll listen to song… Or you'll dance to different songs, and some of them can be pretty interesting. If you didn't know, the,
- 14:52Peter Eggleston Connor: the theme to Skyrim can actually.
- 14:55Peter Eggleston Connor: You can actually do Viennese waltz, too.
- 14:57Phil: Interesting.
- 14:58Peter Eggleston Connor: Yeah, it's, it's pretty, pretty exciting. So…
- 15:03Peter Eggleston Connor: I think, like, considering, like, Lex was doing… doing a lot of her dance in her…
- 15:10Peter Eggleston Connor: youth, there was probably some amount of, like.
- 15:16Peter Eggleston Connor: like, this off game where, they would try to find the strangest songs to dance to, and like, you know, I mean, obviously bring out, like, the…
- 15:25Peter Eggleston Connor: The most interesting, like, bring out the song into the dance, but, like…
- 15:30Peter Eggleston Connor: There must have been somebody who just found one of these songs and was like, yep.
- 15:36Peter Eggleston Connor: We're gonna dance to this.
- 15:38Phil: Mmm.
- 15:39Peter Eggleston Connor: Yeah. That…
- 15:40Phil: That immediately makes me think that if that was the song that she broke her leg to, or injured herself to.
- 15:47Phil: During…
- 15:48Peter Eggleston Connor: I'm still working on that.
- 15:50Phil: Okay, okay.
- 15:50Peter Eggleston Connor: Something else going on there.
- 15:52Phil: Okay, good.
- 15:53Phil: Good.
- 15:53Peter Eggleston Connor: I haven't quite figured out what that is, but I don't think it was actually during dance that she broke her leg, cause…
- 15:58Phil: Okay.
- 16:00Phil: Good to know.
- 16:01Peter Eggleston Connor: Cause I was thinking about that, and
- 16:05Peter Eggleston Connor: for you to break your leg and then not really be able to go back to Dan.
- 16:10Peter Eggleston Connor: It takes some serious, like, injury.
- 16:14Peter Eggleston Connor: Like, falling off of wires, as opposed to…
- 16:17Phil: Just being… missing a jump or something.
- 16:20Peter Eggleston Connor: Yeah, it's like, if you break, like, have a single fracture, I don't know, it…
- 16:27Peter Eggleston Connor: This is just from, like, stories I've heard and, like, experience, so it's not, like, universal at all.
- 16:33Phil: Right.
- 16:35Peter Eggleston Connor: But, like, I know people who have, like, broken their leg, and, like, they were dance teachers, and they…
- 16:42Peter Eggleston Connor: you know.
- 16:45Peter Eggleston Connor: Maybe didn't do, like, the typical type of dancing for a little while, but they kept dancing and, like, went back to it.
- 16:53Peter Eggleston Connor: Like, fully afterwards, and like… you know, that's probably… I doubt that was, like, a super…
- 17:02Peter Eggleston Connor: Bad injury, but… or super bad break, but, like.
- 17:07Peter Eggleston Connor: So, I was trying to think about it, it was like, okay, well, maybe there's actually a lot more to this whole broken leg thing, because it's like…
- 17:18Peter Eggleston Connor: Clearly, she can use it, but I'm starting to think, like.
- 17:22Peter Eggleston Connor: Lex is probably in… or has a lot of leg pain, like.
- 17:26Phil: brilliant record.
- 17:26Peter Eggleston Connor: yearly.
- 17:28Peter Eggleston Connor: And, like, it's gotta be semi-fragile if she's not going back to dance.
- 17:34Phil: Yeah.
- 17:34Peter Eggleston Connor: Like, it has to be one of those things where it's like… Oh.
- 17:39Peter Eggleston Connor: Like, I love this thing, but literally, I will be dealing with, like, broken leg all the time if I go back to this.
- 17:46Phil: Wow, yeah, well, and I have to imagine that… so that means that, you know, that this is it now.
- 17:55Phil: when you take a Fair Gold, when you're powered up, your chronic pain is gone.
- 18:00Phil: Right. But in that moment, if you can't, you know, get your first one in the morning.
- 18:05Phil: when it fades, you at least have those moments of pain, you know? And even if it doesn't come back at, like, a 10, it comes back at a 3, and you're like, shit, it's back, and you start… chronic pain is just an absolute, absolute debilitator, personally. So, okay, that's great, that's great. I like that a lot.
- 18:26Phil: Alan, I'm gonna give you a pass on this one, because you're… I mean, if… it would have to be especially embrasive for you to remember it, I would have to imagine, you know, for… for a, you know.
- 18:41Tad Eggleston: Well, also, I like so much music that I don't know how you could have…
- 18:46Tad Eggleston: Music that would wind up being abrasive to me.
- 18:49Phil: Okay. That, that challenge itself.
- 18:50Tad Eggleston: I feel like, I feel like,
- 18:56Tad Eggleston: Like, maybe I was jarred, but then I had to maybe stop and start it over, slow it down, or slow my mind down.
- 19:07Tad Eggleston: Turn the volume down, and then work it back up, you know.
- 19:12Phil: And here I was thinking that there was a, slow Jolene situation.
- 19:15Peter Eggleston Connor: You know what would be super funny to me, though? If you had to do that every time with it, and that's how it was abrasive. Like, every time you heard it, you were like…
- 19:24Tad Eggleston: It might have become an OCD thing.
- 19:29Phil: Fascinating.
- 19:29Peter Eggleston Connor: So, I'll…
- 19:30Phil: compelling.
- 19:31Peter Eggleston Connor: You could take that, but I think you should take it.
- 19:35Phil: Okay, okay, we're gonna… Alright, yeah, Alan, Alan… Gotcha.
- 19:44Phil: Okay, and with that, we're gonna… we are going to pass out the dice. First up, we have our D10, and that one is going to be wielded by…
- 19:57Peter Eggleston Connor: That will be wielded by, me, who… I'm Peter, and I'm playing Lex in this, game that we continue to play. I'm, I'm not really sure what I'm getting into this week, cause,
- 20:09Peter Eggleston Connor: Or, sorry, this session, because, I'm here, last session.
- 20:14Phil: Indeed, and that is, because last time, as we found out, Lex had been controlled by, Strife, the, digital downloaded copy, as… because, again, in the episode… this is so funny, in the episode where Chu wasn't here, he was possessed by the eldritch god who plunged its fist into Strife while she was possessed by the God of War, who then died as she was fading away, dissolving into existence.
- 20:38Phil: was when Lex, downloaded her consciousness Into her own,
- 20:45Phil: system. But Strife was a dictator, she wielded the D-4, that's what she did. We have a second D10, and that one is wielded by…
- 21:00Larry Woods: This one is wielded by Lee Woods. Willie is, yeah, I'm excited, because I think a part of this is gonna be remembering what happened last month, and that, but I am…
- 21:15Larry Woods: I'm excited to see where this Zora story goes with Willy.
- 21:20Phil: Excellent. After that, we've got our D8, and that one is wielded by…
- 21:27Chang Po (Brae Bluewalker of the Veilthat Clan): True, playing Haman. He's got an earworm. He's got an earworm going right now of, like, some…
- 21:35Phil: Terrible ban that his grads… that the grad students are constantly playing at the library.
- 21:41Phil: Wonderful. Then we have a Stray D12 that was wielded by the aforementioned Garrion, but was stolen by the Master to make a pact with the God of Fate as Garrion was dying early on in our adventure. And then next up, we've just got a.
- 22:01Peter Eggleston Connor: It was only, like, 3 sessions ago, Phil.
- 22:03Phil: Three sessions ago, wow, yeah, I mean… What's that?
- 22:08Phil: I guess so, yeah. It was… it was, you know, it's been…
- 22:12Phil: It's been a hell of a year. It hasn't even been a year since we started playing. That's… that's how much of a year it's been. And… and that, that…
- 22:19Phil: That amount… that amount of insanity is the reason why, the… the good old D6 is all that is entrusted to, find Tadithin over there.
- 22:33Tad Eggleston: What?
- 22:34Tad Eggleston: Oh, wait… Why don't always have to go last?
- 22:37Tad Eggleston: I'm the rich guy.
- 22:40Phil: Anyone's right?
- 22:40Tad Eggleston: rich?
- 22:42Phil: I think you're still rich.
- 22:43Phil: Rich and friends.
- 22:44Peter Eggleston Connor: I mean, you were rich in the real world.
- 22:48Tad Eggleston: I know, but we're not in the real world.
- 22:51Peter Eggleston Connor: Yeah, you're probably not rich here anymore.
- 22:52Phil: Is there a.
- 22:53Tad Eggleston: But I do have a guitar and a sword.
- 22:57Peter Eggleston Connor: And his girlfriend, apparently.
- 22:59Phil: And a 50-pound laptop.
- 23:04Tad Eggleston: Well, that'll make me strong.
- 23:06Phil: There you go, there you go. That, yeah, that'll be, that'll be interesting. And lastly, there is the D20, and that one is mine. So what we're going to do now is you're going to take your die, and you are going to slowly lower it down to the table, hold onto it.
- 23:24Phil: And in 3, 2… 1. Let go.
- 23:29Phil: Open your eyes, and we are in the world of die.
- 23:33Phil: We are in a bit of a flashback, as…
- 23:38Phil: Lex watched the time bubble peeling back.
- 23:42Phil: across a changing, blurring skyline. She turned inward to the digitized Tron matrix
- 23:52Phil: world with… with Tenny spinning and pinging about you, to see the, digital copy of Strife in Your Mind actually take off her muzzle that she had on.
- 24:10Phil: and… and you can hear her fully laughing without it.
- 24:16Phil: As she says, ho ho, this is gonna be fun.
- 24:23Phil: I didn't know if there was anything you wanted to try to ask her or talk to her about, but,
- 24:29Phil: You experience the… The rest of this time.
- 24:36Peter Eggleston Connor: I will continue my line of questioning that I've been trying to answer the entire game. Sweet! What is this place?
- 24:42Phil: What is this place?
- 24:43Phil: this place, well, right now, it's a… I'm a little concerned that you don't recognize your own mind, you know? You don't have as strong of a grip on this as I thought you did.
- 24:53Peter Eggleston Connor: No, not this place, this world that we're in that I just pulled you out of.
- 25:00Phil: Oh, the game? Yeah. Yeah. What is it? It's the game.
- 25:04Phil: we call it DIE.
- 25:07Phil: And…
- 25:09Phil: You can do whatever you want here. You can have whatever you want here. The pain can go away. You can dance again.
- 25:17Phil: Anything else you ever could have dreamed in.
- 25:21Peter Eggleston Connor: How did you know about this?
- 25:23Phil: It's not my first time here.
- 25:25Peter Eggleston Connor: You know? Your first time in my mind?
- 25:28Phil: Ha, yeah, sure.
- 25:32Phil: I guess not, now that, and so then, a little window, pops up behind your head as you relive that experience we just talked about in persona generation, of, you having the craziest song to dance to, and one of her bands come along.
- 25:49Peter Eggleston Connor: I'm not sure I danced to it. I just said somebody danced to it.
- 25:52Phil: Somebody dance to it, but yeah, but it's that moment, but you still hear the, stabbing, staccato rhythms of, of her band. I want to call it the, well, the band she eventually joined is called Antagonist, that's for sure. But, her first one, I am still coming up with a name for, but,
- 26:13Phil: Yeah, that's where…
- 26:16Phil: So you realize that, or I don't know if you realize it, but her music plays for you again, so no, it's not the first time she's been in your mind, because of that moment so long ago, when…
- 26:30Peter Eggleston Connor: I push past the memory and say, that's not what I meant.
- 26:36Peter Eggleston Connor: And you know it.
- 26:38Phil: Yeah, I know a lot of things, but if I told you all of them, it wouldn't be very fun now, would it?
- 26:43Peter Eggleston Connor: Hmm.
- 26:45Peter Eggleston Connor: I mean, that's for me to decide now, isn't it?
- 26:50Phil: I don't think there's very much that you get to decide right now, but go ahead and try if you'd like to.
- 26:57Phil: And this is where… I don't know if you would try…
- 27:01Peter Eggleston Connor: to…
- 27:01Phil: refo.
- 27:02Peter Eggleston Connor: Focus on the road.
- 27:02Phil: world.
- 27:03Peter Eggleston Connor: I think at any given moment, in any given time, I have plenty to decide, always. It's just knowing what actually affects things or not.
- 27:13Peter Eggleston Connor: What are you talking about?
- 27:15Phil: I don't know, I'm kind of losing the thread as I'm just saying things, to keep you preoccupied so that you don't notice as I take control of your body.
- 27:25Phil: And with that.
- 27:27Peter Eggleston Connor: You can do that.
- 27:29Phil: You wake up in a cell.
- 27:33Phil: You don't know how long has passed, but… but you know that enough has changed so that,
- 27:41Phil: Strife is no longer there. I wish there was a little bit smoother of a transition. There were several other plot points I needed to set up, but I guess we'll come back to those chaotically as we need to. As… as,
- 27:55Phil: you see Lee's face…
- 27:58Phil: in the window, look at you, and then you see him just as he turns away to walk away. And there is pain in your leg.
- 28:08Phil: And we are, swaying on the sea. There are metallic bars of chocolate.
- 28:16Phil: Lining the walls of your cage, as it is made out of chocolate, and covered in tinfoil.
- 28:23Peter Eggleston Connor: Weird.
- 28:24Phil: Yeah.
- 28:24Peter Eggleston Connor: I do…
- 28:27Peter Eggleston Connor: I think this is new, but I did, I think, in my last level, get Gold Source.
- 28:33Phil: Yes, yes, you did. Yes, you did. As I expected.
- 28:36Peter Eggleston Connor: This is a new day.
- 28:39Phil: It is for you! So, with that, as you activate the ability gold source, we were kind of up in the air of how it usually activates, but what happens now is, so, the back.
- 28:55Phil: You're resting your back against the hull of the ship, and of course, there are slight, gaps in between the wood. It's not quite…
- 29:02Phil: or the chocolate wood? But you see the glimmer of a little golden coin slip out from between two pieces of wood, and…
- 29:13Phil: It drops onto the floor and makes, like, a sort of…
- 29:16Phil: you know, that was a die, but it was a sort of clink, clink, clink, and rolls along down to in front of you. And,
- 29:24Phil: If you would actually look in that gap, in the wood very closely, you see the smiling face of a fallen that says.
- 29:35Phil: Here you go, boss.
- 29:36Phil: You got it from here, and they fall off the side of the boat.
- 29:40Phil: into the waters.
- 29:43Phil: so you have a piece of fair gold. Which of your gifts would you like to activate?
- 29:49Peter Eggleston Connor: I'm gonna go for full AI.
- 29:51Phil: Full AI activation? Okay, give me one second. Plot amongst yourselves.
- 30:00Peter Eggleston Connor: Somebody was looking at me through a mirror. Now nobody's here with me.
- 30:05Larry Woods: I mean, Willie's on his way back, so he saw somebody in the brig, he's like, well, maybe they deserve to be there.
- 30:12Peter Eggleston Connor: And.
- 30:14Larry Woods: It starts to continue exploring.
- 30:16Phil: Okay, Ivory.
- 30:17Larry Woods: Oh, God, exactly.
- 30:18Phil: Yep, yep.
- 30:19Peter Eggleston Connor: Need to need. We've taken over the ship.
- 30:21Phil: Okay, what's happened?
- 30:23Peter Eggleston Connor: Who's doing what?
- 30:25Phil: You have your full AI, what happened? What'd you roll? What'd you roll?
- 30:29Peter Eggleston Connor: I don't rule anything. Okay, good. I just choked that you said… you said plot against us, and then you came back, and I said…
- 30:36Peter Eggleston Connor: We've mutiny, we've taken over this shit.
- 30:40Phil: Okay.
- 30:40Peter Eggleston Connor: But we haven't. I was just kidding. Right. Okay, good.
- 30:43Phil: I was ready to… I was gonna say, if you.
- 30:46Peter Eggleston Connor: To your viewers. Bill stepped away for a second.
- 30:51Phil: I had to go… I had to go let my wife in. She's back from… from her, from her girls' weekend.
- 30:56Phil: door was locked. I know.
- 30:58Phil: So, Brad, sorry.
- 30:58Peter Eggleston Connor: Early.
- 31:00Phil: A little bit, little bit.
- 31:01Peter Eggleston Connor: Painting.
- 31:04Phil: Okay, so, you activate your full AI enhancement.
- 31:07Peter Eggleston Connor: Yes.
- 31:10Peter Eggleston Connor: And then I scanned this, door in front of me.
- 31:13Phil: you scan the door in front of you. So, okay, so what… so you have your full AI, you are trapped in a chocolate Faraday cage?
- 31:22Phil: In the God of Forge. In the God of Forge, yes. Which… Yes.
- 31:27Peter Eggleston Connor: I… last I knew, was somehow connected to…
- 31:31Phil: Kind of? Yeah, so it's… it's… you have… you have a… you have a… you know, I mean…
- 31:38Phil: I'm still working out exactly what the relationship between the God of the Forge and the Fair are, but they are not the same thing.
- 31:47Peter Eggleston Connor: No, I gathered that I didn't think they were, but .
- 31:52Phil: I was gonna try…
- 31:52Peter Eggleston Connor: Yeah, I had to try to talk to the god of the Forge.
- 31:56Phil: Yeah, that seems like a reasonable thing to do right now. Yeah, I don't think there's really much at will. So let's see here. So you're in a Faraday cage.
- 32:08Phil: So… A chocolate.
- 32:11Peter Eggleston Connor: Faraday cage, that makes…
- 32:12Phil: chocolate tinfoil Faraday cage, which I guess would… I mean…
- 32:19Phil: Yeah… yeah, I'm gonna say… I'm gonna say just roll for it, and you should be able to punch through that somehow.
- 32:26Peter Eggleston Connor: with the D10 as extra?
- 32:28Phil: Yeah, cause you…
- 32:29Peter Eggleston Connor: I'm guessing I'm rolling in.
- 32:31Phil: Yes, yes. So I think it's… it's… it's one of those where it's… I don't know how difficult it would be, but I think you being…
- 32:39Phil: you being on your own, you know, as long as you don't get full failures on this, I think you'll… I think you'll manage a piece of.
- 32:46Peter Eggleston Connor: Yeah, okay. Well, I got a 6 and a 5.
- 32:51Phil: Okay. Yeah, I think that's enough for some contact. So… You…
- 32:58Phil: Okay, so what, what do you, what do you say to the God of Forge?
- 33:02Peter Eggleston Connor: I said… Well, first I introduced myself a while ago.
- 33:09Peter Eggleston Connor: I guess it knows me, since I was…
- 33:12Peter Eggleston Connor: Part of it for a second there, a long time ago.
- 33:16Peter Eggleston Connor: I'll take some time to first recognize it, and then I'll be like.
- 33:21Peter Eggleston Connor: Why am I in this cage?
- 33:25Phil: And it just says, shut up, Strife.
- 33:29Peter Eggleston Connor: I'm not Strife.
- 33:31Phil: Yeah, you tried this before, we still don't believe you.
- 33:37Peter Eggleston Connor: How would you…
- 33:42Phil: How would you…
- 33:44Peter Eggleston Connor: Hmm.
- 33:50Peter Eggleston Connor: What did I do?
- 33:52Phil: You killed Droke!
- 33:54Phil: And this is where we now pan up to Droke, the, silent lizard man, is… who I said last time, oh, he's up in the crow's nest. He's a zombie.
- 34:04Phil: He got better.
- 34:07Peter Eggleston Connor: Dude.
- 34:08Peter Eggleston Connor: So… Going back to our discussion between sessions.
- 34:15Peter Eggleston Connor: There's another one of me, right?
- 34:19Phil: Kind of. I… I…
- 34:22Phil: Strife, Strife does… so… so yes, so this is… this is where, we'll say now is a good time for… for you to receive some of the memories of…
- 34:33Phil: Because that's the thing, is that your body was possessed by strife, so those memories are still in your brain somewhere, so…
- 34:40Peter Eggleston Connor: Right, so… Completely threw me for a loop. Got it.
- 34:43Phil: Yes, so, so you've, you've, you now have, so you know, like, you, Lex, knows that, that Strife was running around with your face for the past 10 years. And, I guess, I guess for everybody else, yeah, there's…
- 35:01Phil: She's she's no longer in Lex's body because Peter's here.
- 35:10Phil: And I don't think she'll be possessing you again, because that seems like a bad trick to pull more than once.
- 35:15Phil: But… The question is now, if… if you want to trade…
- 35:24Phil: a couple minor memories of those to the memory merchant for further power-ups to try to break out of here. Or if you can come up with a way to prove that you're actually you and not…
- 35:37Peter Eggleston Connor: Oh, thank God. You should, go focus on somebody else for a bit.
- 35:40Phil: Okay, I'm sorry, I'm so sorry. Okay, I didn't mean.
- 35:45Peter Eggleston Connor: No, I was, like, confused, because, like, I don't know. We had a conversation, and now I'm like, oh, this is not what I remember.
- 35:51Phil: -Oh, whoops, okay. I, I… All good? Yeah. Yeah. Oh, I got it. Yeah, okay, okay. So, from there, Lee,
- 36:03Phil: I guess if you're… if you're curious about what he was talking about, we could kind of flesh it out. So, Strife was… was running around…
- 36:14Phil: with Peter's face for the past 10 years. I think I accidentally rudely doubled back on something that we had talked about.
- 36:25Phil: with you, you being let out of the cage more. If… okay, yes, yeah, so…
- 36:35Phil: Gotcha. But yeah, but the gist is, is that she's… she's gonna be out there, she's gonna look like Lex,
- 36:41Phil: this is… this is probably a moment where it would be good for the Forge God to alert everyone
- 36:49Phil: that, you're someone… you're not strife anymore. This is… this is somehow different from last time. So, I didn't know if the…
- 37:01Phil: crew wanted to gather. We're now gonna try to sort of explain, to everyone else. I feel like… I feel like the party needs to… because last time we were kind of all desperately exploring, so…
- 37:13Larry Woods: We explored a lot.
- 37:14Phil: Yeah, yeah, kind of all around the ship.
- 37:17Tad Eggleston: I did not explore a lot.
- 37:20Larry Woods: Yes.
- 37:21Larry Woods: Technically true.
- 37:23Phil: Yes.
- 37:23Tad Eggleston: I played music and then fell asleep.
- 37:26Phil: That was in the captain's quarters, with Rose, so…
- 37:33Tad Eggleston: The bed is very comfy.
- 37:36Phil: It's good to know. Good to know.
- 37:39Tad Eggleston: Well, no, it's not, because I don't think your beds are very comfy, and now you have to be jealous.
- 37:49Phil: That is… that is rather amusing. So,
- 37:58Phil: I guess… I guess it's at this point that,
- 38:03Phil: you know, with… with Lex continuing to say, hey, hey, I… I am me this time,
- 38:13Phil: Gosh, I'm trying to think now of…
- 38:17Phil: So that's the thing, is that… so you can tell… you can tell the party something that only you would know.
- 38:25Phil: Because even though Strife took control of you, she didn't have all your memories. So it's not like she was a perfect copy of you.
- 38:31Phil: While she was running around?
- 38:33Phil: So she wouldn't know everything about Lex's life, but if there's something, like, a connection between Lex and Eamon, or Lex and Alan,
- 38:46Phil: then, like, you know, like, what's, what's, I guess, something that, you know, because now the Forge God is like, there's, there's a problem in the brig, and so, you know, if everyone wants to gather down there, you know.
- 39:02Larry Woods: Do I… does Willie hear this voice as well?
- 39:06Phil: Yeah, I think.
- 39:06Tad Eggleston: Fair.
- 39:07Phil: I think it's kind of an alert to, to, we're gonna, we're gonna let you out of the, out of the cave.
- 39:13Tad Eggleston: And I get to… the cage is also made of chocolate, right?
- 39:17Phil: It is, it is made of chocolate, yes.
- 39:18Tad Eggleston: Okay, so I turned to the Forge God, and I said.
- 39:21Tad Eggleston: Is this a load-bearing cage?
- 39:27Peter Eggleston Connor: Aren't you in the Forge God?
- 39:29Phil: Everyone needs, yeah.
- 39:30Peter Eggleston Connor: Anywhere you turn, you're… you're turning to the Forge Goble.
- 39:33Tad Eggleston: Okay, I don't turn to the Forge God. I just say… I just say, is this a load-bearing cage?
- 39:42Phil: Unfortunately, yes, it is. All of this, it turns out… turns out, being a chocolate boat is… is an incredibly difficult…
- 39:51Phil: Endeavor, and if you start eating away at one corner, it all comes apart pretty quick.
- 39:57Larry Woods: Huh.
- 40:00Tad Eggleston: Okay, so… I very carefully.
- 40:04Tad Eggleston: Mark off.
- 40:07Tad Eggleston: every fourth bar. And rather than just hacking with my sword.
- 40:13Tad Eggleston: I take my sword, and I very, very carefully…
- 40:18Tad Eggleston: Cut myself a segment of chocolate.
- 40:22Phil: To eat from me.
- 40:24Phil: Okay.
- 40:25Phil: Okay.
- 40:27Phil: Okay.
- 40:28Phil: Okay, so this wasn't.
- 40:29Larry Woods: You knew this was gonna happen.
- 40:32Phil: This wasn't about getting Lex out of there, it was about getting a piece of chocolate tea. I see. I see.
- 40:39Tad Eggleston: I mean…
- 40:41Tad Eggleston: If it had happened to Freelix, that wouldn't have stopped me, but you said it was a load-bearing cage.
- 40:52Phil: There we go. Peter, I'm sorry, I think I forgot more of our conversation than I realized.
- 41:00Peter Eggleston Connor: Probably alright.
- 41:01Phil: Yeah. Yeah.
- 41:03Peter Eggleston Connor: Just means we have to play more on the fly, it's alright.
- 41:05Phil: We are, we are. Thankfully, thankfully, I have more in plan for this episode than you escaping from a cage that I… that I put you in and then didn't give you an easy way out.
- 41:15Peter Eggleston Connor: I don't think I was thinking the easy way out.
- 41:18Phil: No, no, no, I mean, like, mentally, I didn't… I didn't know how you were going to get out of there, so why… why did I… why did I put you in there and then say, hey, get out, you know?
- 41:28Tad Eggleston: Well, I mean, I just presented an easy way out, and you made the decision, you know.
- 41:34Phil: It's terrible.
- 41:35Tad Eggleston: It could have been a cage that didn't know all the way between the.
- 41:38Peter Eggleston Connor: Dex! If you will, we have essentially allowed me to hack things.
- 41:44Phil: Yeah.
- 41:44Peter Eggleston Connor: I'm sure I could just hack the Red… well, except it's a Faraday cage, so I don't know how you want to play that.
- 41:50Phil: I know. If that makes it any different. But also…
- 41:54Peter Eggleston Connor: is, like… Is it a 360 Fahrenheit?
- 41:59Phil: I don't think so, because I said your back was against the wood, the wood… the chocolate wood? That's where the coin came through. So…
- 42:07Peter Eggleston Connor: And… Okay.
- 42:08Phil: Also…
- 42:09Peter Eggleston Connor: fun. Yeah, yeah, between that and… I'm gonna hack… hack the part that's not the Faraday Cade, which is behind, which I assume goes out to the ocean.
- 42:17Phil: It does, it does, yeah, that's like the wall.
- 42:19Peter Eggleston Connor: Okay. So I'll try to… I'll try to mitigate this.
- 42:25Phil: Okay.
- 42:26Peter Eggleston Connor: I'm gonna put myself next to the wall.
- 42:30Peter Eggleston Connor: Try to morph the wall… So that it always stays as one piece.
- 42:37Peter Eggleston Connor: But, like, essentially build a… Build an incredibly tight room around me.
- 42:43Phil: Oh.
- 42:43Peter Eggleston Connor: wall, and then get rid of the back of it, so that I can now be outside of the ship.
- 42:49Phil: Yeah, yeah, I think you could do that. You, you do, oddly enough, still have that… that gem from the cyborg brontosaurus Hydra. If, if… so there's… there's gonna be, like.
- 43:01Phil: Pieces of scales, but yeah, that sounds like something you could definitely do, where… so now you're on the… you know, there's basically a tiny… you're basically on the other side of the wall, now clinging to the outside of… of the ship.
- 43:13Tad Eggleston: And I look at…
- 43:14Phil: What's going on?
- 43:15Tad Eggleston: I watch… I watch Lex do that, and I say, okay, problem solved, and I go up to the deck. I look down at Lex and say, hey, would it be easier if I threw you a rope?
- 43:26Peter Eggleston Connor: I look up at you, and
- 43:30Peter Eggleston Connor: I imagine 10 years is a lot of time, even to be in a sum… well, except for us, it wasn't really a somber, was it? It was, like, an instant.
- 43:41Peter Eggleston Connor: We mentioned that was a time bubble. How does that work?
- 43:44Phil: So… so that was it. So it's where… so with the time bubble, that was… that was where, this world that you've been on has, existed for longer than you've been on it. That was… that was…
- 43:58Phil: I know that's.
- 43:59Peter Eggleston Connor: For us, like, almost no time passed.
- 44:01Phil: Yes. So that's the thing, is even… even last time, when there was…
- 44:05Peter Eggleston Connor: So, there wouldn't be any sort of weird drugginess or anything like that, because, like, literally, for us, nothing happened.
- 44:13Phil: Right.
- 44:14Peter Eggleston Connor: Okay.
- 44:15Phil: Yeah.
- 44:15Peter Eggleston Connor: So it's worth…
- 44:16Phil: it was the rest of the world, it was just that the NPCs, at the moment, the time bubble.
- 44:19Peter Eggleston Connor: So I'm… I'm probably have my faculties, and I'm just very confused on this whole… thing.
- 44:28Peter Eggleston Connor: I'm… I don't know, I don't think I'd have the memories that…
- 44:33Peter Eggleston Connor: Cuz, again, nothing happened for me.
- 44:36Phil: Yeah, so you don't have the memories, but they're.
- 44:38Peter Eggleston Connor: For prob… like, for.
- 44:42Phil: So it's… they come in, like, flashes, so they're, like, memories that you don't know.
- 44:45Peter Eggleston Connor: So it's like data packets that are just coming to me.
- 44:48Phil: Yes.
- 44:49Peter Eggleston Connor: Got it.
- 44:50Phil: Yes.
- 44:51Peter Eggleston Connor: I look up and I say, yeah, I think… I think a rope might be useful, as long as it's not made out of chocolate, cause…
- 45:05Peter Eggleston Connor: Let's be honest, I don't think it would hold.
- 45:09Tad Eggleston: Are there any non-chocolate ropes around?
- 45:13Phil: I mean…
- 45:17Phil: My instincts say no. No, all the ropes are chocolate around here, so you're… I mean, they…
- 45:21Tad Eggleston: So you have.
- 45:21Phil: I have an ability for just an instance as this.
- 45:24Tad Eggleston: No, I take off my cloak.
- 45:27Phil: Okay.
- 45:28Tad Eggleston: And… I twirl it around, and I knot each end.
- 45:33Tad Eggleston: So that it stays together.
- 45:37Tad Eggleston: And I… I… Lean over the edge, and lower it to…
- 45:42Chang Po (Brae Bluewalker of the Veilthat Clan): conference.
- 45:47Peter Eggleston Connor: Boat is made out of chocolate, which probably means that it's pretty easy to claw into.
- 45:51Phil: Yeah, oh yeah.
- 45:52Chang Po (Brae Bluewalker of the Veilthat Clan): I don't shoot down.
- 45:53Phil: So you can, like, half climb up the wall, and then…
- 45:57Peter Eggleston Connor: up as cloak, sure. Pretty easy.
- 46:00Peter Eggleston Connor: It's not, like, dangerous. You don't have to roll anything?
- 46:03Chang Po (Brae Bluewalker of the Veilthat Clan): Ouch!
- 46:04Larry Woods: Wait, I don't think we're asking the important question here is, is it milk chocolate or dark chocolate?
- 46:10Phil: Oh, it's Star Trek.
- 46:10Larry Woods: Fair question.
- 46:11Chang Po (Brae Bluewalker of the Veilthat Clan): Yep.
- 46:13Tad Eggleston: That's kind of chocolate.
- 46:15Tad Eggleston: I can confirm that it's very good dark chocolate. It is, it is, so it flakes a bit. But yes, but you're able to clamor up there. Where's our marshmallow guy?
- 46:24Chang Po (Brae Bluewalker of the Veilthat Clan): hard.
- 46:25Phil: Oh, he's lost. He's lost, with the rest of the gods. They turn into a giant,
- 46:30Tad Eggleston: We have… we have this chocolate boat, we gotta go find the marshmallow guy. Oh, wait, let me… let me hold on with both hands. Just scratch my head right now.
- 46:43Chang Po (Brae Bluewalker of the Veilthat Clan): Well, it was just one of the…
- 46:46Peter Eggleston Connor: Alright.
- 46:46Chang Po (Brae Bluewalker of the Veilthat Clan): on the path.
- 46:47Peter Eggleston Connor: So.
- 46:47Chang Po (Brae Bluewalker of the Veilthat Clan): Oh, the…
- 46:48Peter Eggleston Connor: If I don't need to roll HX, then I climb up.
- 46:51Phil: Right, right, right.
- 46:51Peter Eggleston Connor: It will lead to all sorts of more shenanigans and more shenanigans.
- 46:57Phil: Indeed, and there's, there's confusion, there's, there's, you know, there's a crisis, there's a mix-up.
- 47:03Chang Po (Brae Bluewalker of the Veilthat Clan): Oh, thank God, spicy.
- 47:05Phil: Who's, who's, who's that in the background there?
- 47:07Chang Po (Brae Bluewalker of the Veilthat Clan): and Silver Peace.
- 47:09Chang Po (Brae Bluewalker of the Veilthat Clan): Hold on.
- 47:11Chang Po (Brae Bluewalker of the Veilthat Clan): Okay.
- 47:13Phil: Sorry.
- 47:19Phil: Alrighty, so, so you had, you were, you were climbing up the side of the boat, you're up top, now, you know, everyone, everyone comes clamoring onto the top of the deck, there's, there's Rose, you know, she's like, get that prisoner under control, she's trying to, she's trying to make a break for it again.
- 47:37Phil: One of those sorts of things, Smink is like, you bastard! You killed my friend! There's just, like, a little, like, deathly, like.
- 47:45Phil: like a gurgle that comes out of the crow's nest, sort of things. .
- 47:52Chang Po (Brae Bluewalker of the Veilthat Clan): What?
- 47:53Phil: I'm hoping… like I said, I'm hoping for some…
- 47:57Phil: dumb confirmation, like, you know, some kind of memory. We haven't, we haven't talked about.
- 48:06Chang Po (Brae Bluewalker of the Veilthat Clan): The.
- 48:07Phil: the game that we actually used to play way back then. Is there… what would, like, what would a signal be between, Lex and Alan? Like, a signal of trust? I mean, other than Alan just seeming to trust everyone.
- 48:22Chang Po (Brae Bluewalker of the Veilthat Clan): Thank you so much.
- 48:25Tad Eggleston: Well, I mean, Wendy was in the cave…
- 48:29Tad Eggleston: I wondered, but now that he's not in the cage, the problem was getting him safely off the side of the boat, not figuring out if he needed to come out of the cage.
- 48:39Phil: Right. And now that he's in front of me and not contained.
- 48:43Tad Eggleston: Then there's no problem to solve.
- 48:46Peter Eggleston Connor: So, yep.
- 48:48Phil: Sounds about right.
- 48:50Chang Po (Brae Bluewalker of the Veilthat Clan): I'll do this one.
- 48:50Phil: Perfect, perfect, so the trust…
- 48:53Tad Eggleston: Other than working out the chords on this song that I've been writing.
- 48:58Phil: The… something between, sailing away on an elevator?
- 49:02Tad Eggleston: Yeah, that was just me being bored.
- 49:07Phil: Excellent, excellent. Okay, so…
- 49:12Chang Po (Brae Bluewalker of the Veilthat Clan): Ow? .
- 49:13Phil: I guess in this situation, Peter, how would you convince someone that you are who you say you are, and that you're not the person who's been controlling you?
- 49:24Phil: For the pass.
- 49:25Peter Eggleston Connor: I mean, the question is, who's asking?
- 49:28Phil: Well, at this point, I guess it would be Rose, where she's like, alright, I'm suspicious, I see that Alan is true.
- 49:34Peter Eggleston Connor: Having a sword to me, or what's going on?
- 49:37Peter Eggleston Connor: Tell me the scene!
- 49:39Phil: The scene! Okay, so all of the… all of the chocolate clockwork pirates, have… have drawn misshapen chocolate bar swords, and are playing them at you, and one of them has… they have, like, little… little tiny, they're, like, one has a blunderbuss, and it's full of pop rocks, and another one's got, you know, their… their sharpshooters, and they've, I guess, red hots? I don't know. Something like that. Various candy.
- 50:00Phil: all kinds of, of.
- 50:02Peter Eggleston Connor: the gods, got it.
- 50:04Phil: Yeah, maybe. Well, I… Yeah, .
- 50:08Peter Eggleston Connor: I think, I think…
- 50:10Phil: Cinnamon… cinnamon bullets make sense, because there is, like, an ongoing war elsewhere in the world, so, like…
- 50:16Peter Eggleston Connor: What is he playing with you?
- 50:17Phil: No, it's perfect! I mean, it's… I… I'm… I guess it still is up in the air whether the… I think… I think I was going to have the trickster god be the god of pop rocks, but then, Alan said he didn't like pop rocks, so he became the god of graham crackers. So, you know…
- 50:31Phil: It's… it's a slapdash ramshackle operation we've got going on here. But yeah, so they're under threat. There's…
- 50:40Phil: you know, she, who I don't think I mentioned last episode, but Rose absolutely has an eye patch. So she has an eye patch, she has a big hat,
- 50:50Tad Eggleston: Does she need the eye patch?
- 50:52Phil: Yes.
- 50:53Tad Eggleston: Alan would know.
- 50:55Phil: Yes, she needs the eyepatch.
- 50:57Phil: Yeah. And so…
- 51:00Peter Eggleston Connor: Beneath it is her cybernetic eye that sees all.
- 51:03Phil: Damn it, Peter! Yeah, something like that.
- 51:10Peter Eggleston Connor: Oh, sorry, anyhow.
- 51:11Phil: No, you're.
- 51:12Phil: Yeah, and so she's, she's like, alright, you know.
- 51:16Tad Eggleston: Can I also have an eye patch?
- 51:18Phil: Yes, but you don't need it.
- 51:20Tad Eggleston: Well, I know I don't need it, but I want to show solidarity with Rogue.
- 51:25Phil: Do you… so you put it on the same aisle?
- 51:28Tad Eggleston: Sometimes.
- 51:29Phil: Okay, so… Perfect, perfect.
- 51:32Peter Eggleston Connor: And we're back.
- 51:36Phil: But so now, so she's, she's, she's looking at you, and she's basically like, this, this has almost happened before, you know,
- 51:45Phil: in the sense of Strife has tried to escape and has attempted to impersonate you by trying to escape, you know, how do we know that you're really you? And again, it's Rose doesn't know Lex very well.
- 51:58Peter Eggleston Connor: I will raise my eyebrow and say, well, this has almost happened before, what… what… when did this almost happen? What…
- 52:09Peter Eggleston Connor: What was that like?
- 52:12Phil: it was pretty much just like this, but in the moment of weakness of questioning, you use that to take advantage of me, and in that scuffle, I barely overpowered you back into the state of submission. So, I guess…
- 52:26Peter Eggleston Connor: Whoa.
- 52:26Phil: You would have done that?
- 52:27Peter Eggleston Connor: Claim out the wall.
- 52:29Peter Eggleston Connor: Of the ship, and climbed up it.
- 52:34Peter Eggleston Connor: I'm just trying to understand what happened to me, because I don't…
- 52:42Peter Eggleston Connor: I'm getting memory packets of something.
- 52:46Peter Eggleston Connor: An adult.
- 52:47Peter Eggleston Connor: Makes sense to me. So…
- 52:49Phil: I… I love… I love that… that you know their memory packets, because it's… so Tenny's telling you that, where it's like, memory packet received, and it's got, like, a different, like, user ID stamp on it than you're accustomed to, but, like, you have it, and so that's, like, you know, you cutting somebody's throat, or something like that, and.
- 53:08Tad Eggleston: I'm like.
- 53:08Phil: 10 years of mischief and mayhem, just, just popping into, into your, your, your mind's eye.
- 53:17Phil: Throughout all of this. So I think, I think just how you're handling this, the level of misunderstanding and questioning.
- 53:26Phil: that you're expressing is something that Strife, even, you know, she is a chaotic person, and she is a combative person, but she's not a subtle person and could not act her way
- 53:38Phil: To being this confused.
- 53:40Phil: And so they, they, you know, quickly realized, okay, you're, you're out of here, you are, you know, you're free, we are, you know, just, it's, it's like,
- 53:52Phil: Gosh,
- 53:55Phil: It's like a moment in Elder Scrolls, where, you know, I'm thinking of the, the gray mask, where suddenly everyone's like, you're the guy who leads the Thieves Guild, and then you take it off, and somehow they're like, okay, you're not that guy anymore, it's fine, it's fine. It's kind of like that.
- 54:10Phil: It's kind of like everyone… everyone had their… their… they were up in arms against you, and now they've all… they've all simultaneously relaxed. The… the clockwork pirates have gone back to… to what they're doing. Smink, still gives you a glare, sheets his knife, and then goes back down to the galley, as… as we realize the kitchen is meant to be called on a ship.
- 54:29Phil: And… You are allotted, you now have a decision to make, and this is an actual decision of…
- 54:37Phil: where do you go next? This… this side that you're on, is the island that you crash-landed to, and then kind of an ocean,
- 54:48Phil: down-ish, there are cliffs, there's a high cliff wall, you would have to scale up, so you can't go that way. But you can go either left-west or right out, and that leads to two different and distinct villages, encampments.
- 55:01Phil: that you would journey towards for rest to… to get your bearings of, you know, what's been happening over the past 10 years? Well, it's easier to, you know, let's… let's get someplace
- 55:11Phil: Someplace easier, that's not out in the open.
- 55:18Phil: I realize this is a completely arbitrary decision for all of you.
- 55:22Peter Eggleston Connor: So… so just to be clear, we got past the point where… where we were questioning whether I was,
- 55:30Peter Eggleston Connor: Strife, and now everybody's like, okay, we need to figure out what to do now.
- 55:35Peter Eggleston Connor: Well, yeah, that was kind of… those… those… settling into the ship. I'm partially saying it because I don't think we… there wasn't a lot of transition there, so, like…
- 55:46Phil: No, that's my fact.
- 55:47Peter Eggleston Connor: It's… it's good to sort of, like, rehash it with the…
- 55:50Peter Eggleston Connor: Everybody cuts it back. I think you're right. I… I will…
- 55:54Phil: Wood a little too quickly.
- 55:55Peter Eggleston Connor: I was like, this is a decision for me, and I was like, no, no, no, this is a decision for you, got it. Anyhow.
- 56:02Larry Woods: I'm also wondering, too, right, because I don't think Willie's really…
- 56:07Larry Woods: experienced this before, right? So, it's like, if anything.
- 56:11Larry Woods: at least in my mind's eye here. It's like, once everything started sort of…
- 56:17Larry Woods: going off, and, like, people are like, okay, like, he's in there, sounding alarm, whatever the case. It's almost like, for Willie, things kind of slowed down. So, like, even, Alan, how he came down and, like, helped out, and then went back up.
- 56:31Larry Woods: I just imagine Willie's sort of sitting there watching everything, and people, like, kind of move around him like he's in slow motion.
- 56:38Larry Woods: But I don't think he really knows what to ask. Like, of course he wants to know, like, what… like, what the hell happened, but at the same time, he's…
- 56:47Larry Woods: like… Still trying to think against Strife?
- 56:51Larry Woods: Garian?
- 56:52Phil: Orge God.
- 56:56Phil: Right, right, yeah, this is… you're still… you're still an outsider, so to speak.
- 57:00Phil: So there's still… there's still a lot, that you don't know.
- 57:05Phil: And those sorts of things.
- 57:09Phil: Sorry, my cat's trying to tell me something right now, but I can't understand him.
- 57:15Phil: Yeah. We'll speak with animals. Right?
- 57:18Phil: No.
- 57:21Phil: He says, I'm hungry. Oh, well, it's a little early for him to be hungry, so maybe he's not hungry.
- 57:27Phil: one of those sorts of things. And I guess, and this is where… this is where… I know I've mentioned it to you all before, but, I don't know…
- 57:38Phil: who… so, I guess… I guess Rose is a good person, I need to tell you, is… is that, you know, the past 10 years have been, quite frankly, fucking hell. They have…
- 57:50Phil: The world has been continually ravaged by the, God… the kaiju gods.
- 57:59Phil: That have been wreaking havoc and destruction across this world. So the figures of the gods had been monstrified, and so now we are heading to… they're less cities or villages, they're more of outposts.
- 58:18Phil: Of, civilization full of adventures, and, you know, it's, it's a very, it's a very slapdash, rough-and-tumble, world that, that we now…
- 58:30Phil: land ourselves in. And I guess I could give you a little background on, the two different civilizations to choose from. towards left-west is, Pirate Town. That is going to be a multicultural
- 58:44Phil: cornucopia of, you know, goblins and birdmen and weirdos of all shapes and sorts.
- 58:53Phil: There is a pirate priest to meet there, who, you know, that's, that's like, that's like, you know, your friendly, you know, jokey group of people.
- 59:02Phil: The other direction is, a vampire village where,
- 59:08Phil: I… the… the bit of prep I didn't… I need to do, is… is reread The Savage Shores, kind of the… that was the… the Vampire Pirates inspiration there. But, so it's gonna be… it's gonna be a little darker, a little more mysterious, but not…
- 59:24Phil: you know, it's one of those things where even though it's a vampire town, you're not going to be fighting vampires, you know, it's… I guess the way I'd want to describe it is it has the tension of, like, a horde town in World of Warcraft, where, like, okay, it's not openly hostile, but yeah, people here can be kind of mean.
- 59:42Phil: You know? So yeah, so which, which, which way do you feel like going? Do you feel like talking to, friendly faces, or…
- 59:50Phil: What's that?
- 59:52Peter Eggleston Connor: I mean, we're in the middle of an ocean.
- 59:55Peter Eggleston Connor: Were we on a different side last time?
- 59:59Phil: You're still on the same side that the Pantheon crash-landed into.
- 1:00:03Peter Eggleston Connor: So, wouldn't there be a third side to go to?
- 1:00:06Phil: There is, but it is, like, a sheer cliff wall, so you would have to get out of the boat and, like, climb up the cliff wall, as opposed to, like, stay in the boat and go to… that's an option, if you want to go that way, if you want to try to…
- 1:00:18Peter Eggleston Connor: Like, that sounds like the, the, the, princess Bride.
- 1:00:25Phil: It actually, it does. It does a little bit. It does a little bit. But yeah.
- 1:00:29Larry Woods: I actually have it in my notes that we literally talked about the Princess, well, Princess Diaries.
- 1:00:35Phil: the, the two figures I had not mentioned yet were Dread Pirate Roberts, Fezzik, and, his first mate, Inago. I've already decided the only thing, Fezzik is largely silent, the only thing he says is ever two rows, and it is… As you wish.
- 1:00:50Phil: I'm still working on my Andre the Giant press, and I wish I was, like, another foot and a half taller.
- 1:00:56Larry Woods: Yeah, that's.
- 1:00:56Peter Eggleston Connor: Click it as you wish.
- 1:00:59Peter Eggleston Connor: a year.
- 1:00:59Phil: Yeah. Yeah.
- 1:01:01Larry Woods: Well, as a, as a group, is there…
- 1:01:04Peter Eggleston Connor: I thought he would say, anybody want a peanut?
- 1:01:06Phil: He also
- 1:01:07Phil: Anybody peanut… anybody want a peanut, if… if anyone else… if he can rhyme it, but he only says that if he can rhyme it.
- 1:01:15Phil: Yep.
- 1:01:17Larry Woods: So, like, as a… as a group, Is there…
- 1:01:22Larry Woods: I guess for first question is, what are we trying to do?
- 1:01:26Larry Woods: And where do we think we're gonna get those… achieve that goal, I guess?
- 1:01:31Phil: Well, I guess the first question is, do y'all feel like trying to go home or not?
- 1:01:35Phil: Alan's made it clear that he kind of likes it here, and he doesn't have a whole lot of it.
- 1:01:40Tad Eggleston: to solve.
- 1:01:41Phil: Yeah!
- 1:01:42Phil: It's pretty interesting.
- 1:01:43Tad Eggleston: at home are easy.
- 1:01:45Phil: So, I mean, if… if you're interested in trying to figure out how to get back home, so that's… that's the other thing is…
- 1:01:50Larry Woods: Fair thing.
- 1:01:52Phil: I feel like… I feel like I need to have a sort of moment of contact between the
- 1:01:58Phil: Willie and the Master to sort of have, like, a… at least, like, a…
- 1:02:03Phil: directive of sorts, you know, so that you have some… because right now, you don't really have anything to go off of other than…
- 1:02:09Phil: You were doing a drop, you opened a door, and then you ended up in this weird room with a magical die that empowered you, and then you started shooting at other zombies, and…
- 1:02:19Larry Woods: It turned out you were in…
- 1:02:21Phil: a box that was the Forge God that… yeah, so you're… you're kind of… you're… you're very disoriented, so that makes… that makes a lot of sense now.
- 1:02:29Larry Woods: Sure.
- 1:02:30Phil: So I guess, I guess, you know, even Rose is still, like… It's like…
- 1:02:35Phil: you know, take your time, Willie, but you'll… you know, you'll fit in here.
- 1:02:40Phil: -Oh.
- 1:02:41Larry Woods: Y-yes, ma'am.
- 1:02:42Phil: Yeah, where she can see that, you know, your no-nonsense skills will… will be good on the horizon.
- 1:02:52Phil: So… yeah, and, and… I guess, yeah, I,
- 1:03:03Phil: in… in the monster hunting background, you know, yeah, who wants… who wants to kill a god? Is… is the gist of it, is that the only… the only hope this world has for combating those gods are…
- 1:03:16Phil: the dice, the, you know, the… because that's the thing, is your D6, your D10s, your D8, those are super powerful magical artifacts that, you know, you've fought gods before, and won.
- 1:03:29Phil: like…
- 1:03:30Phil: you… you… I mean, admittedly, you had the help of… of Toasty the Phoenix, but you fought the Eldritch God, and you took him down, you fought the Forge God, and you incapacitated him pretty well. So, yeah, you know, you're…
- 1:03:44Phil: your, mission now is to, you know, track down these god monsters and either capture or kill them. And try to figure out that situation there. I actually wrote down, yeah, so that's, that's the thing.
- 1:03:56Phil: So again, depending on which village you feel like going to, there are quest boards that I have there, for… because that was something I'm like, hey, maybe we should do this. Maybe we should write down a list of quests that we as a group are interested in, you know, or questions that we want to try to solve.
- 1:04:13Phil: And those sorts of things, because I do have, I do have, at least on the quest board, I have a few to hand you. If, you know, it's just which, which, which town do you feel like I went to? Or do you feel like scaling the wall of mysteries?
- 1:04:24Larry Woods: Yeah.
- 1:04:25Phil: You know?
- 1:04:27Peter Eggleston Connor: Well, I think at this point, considering I'm getting data feeds of myself, doing all sorts of things over the last 10 years, then, I can't even relate to.
- 1:04:40Peter Eggleston Connor: I'm now concerned about whether or not I have,
- 1:04:52Peter Eggleston Connor: a, rogue element in my brain? Or, you know…
- 1:04:57Larry Woods: So I'll have to work through… figure that out. Anyhow…
- 1:05:00Phil: Yeah. Thank, thankfully, thankfully, that was… I was planning something different, other than… like I said, I don't… I don't wanna… I don't wanna take control of… of your…
- 1:05:13Larry Woods: character, I just wanted an excuse for what you were doing last episode.
- 1:05:17Peter Eggleston Connor: For sure.
- 1:05:18Phil: Yeah.
- 1:05:19Larry Woods: So, I'm also, like…
- 1:05:22Larry Woods: I'm… so I'm big into memes, so all I now… all I see now is, I see Peter's character. We go to this, left-west pirate town that includes, goblins and bird people.
- 1:05:34Larry Woods: Because all I see now is there's that one video of the…
- 1:05:38Larry Woods: little girl with a parrot that extracts the tooth from her mouth. I imagine, like, doing that with Peter Character's strands.
- 1:05:48Phil: And that's the thing. Thankfully, thankfully, you have an outlet for your memory merchant, is that you can use your, you know, 10 years of history of murder and espionage, that if that's causing you discomfort, you can trade that for, you know, fair gold equivalent.
- 1:06:08Phil: Basically.
- 1:06:09Peter Eggleston Connor: I mean, that sounds dangerous, because, like, that 10 years of, 10 years of memories could also be telling me what… what,
- 1:06:19Peter Eggleston Connor: Could be a wealth of information on what's happened.
- 1:06:24Peter Eggleston Connor: Finally, there's actually, like, that risk-reward level, right?
- 1:06:28Phil: Yeah, yeah, and I'm sure it'll be a sliding scale, you know. The last thing I want to do is that video game equivalent of, like, hey, this item has a really big price tag if you sell it at the shop.
- 1:06:40Larry Woods: But it's also a really obscure ingredient for a super specific quest that if you sell, you'll never be able to complete. I don't want to do that to you guys.
- 1:06:47Peter Eggleston Connor: Well, I mean, you would never make it, like, something where you wouldn't be able to complete it.
- 1:06:52Peter Eggleston Connor: Primary quest, but you could make
- 1:06:54Peter Eggleston Connor: But not having it makes it harder.
- 1:06:56Phil: Yeah, yeah, that, that would, that would…
- 1:06:58Peter Eggleston Connor: Or makes it more interesting, as a lot of the tabletop RPG goes.
- 1:07:04Phil: As we can see, that assumes a lot of skills on my part as a DM that I may or may not have.
- 1:07:12Phil: But in that.
- 1:07:13Peter Eggleston Connor: Well, you know, I'm just trying to help you, like, you know, open up those skills.
- 1:07:18Phil: I'm trying, I'm trying. One, you know, you can lead me to water, but I still need a straw.
- 1:07:24Phil: I like that.
- 1:07:25Peter Eggleston Connor: Let me, let me go get you a straw, though.
- 1:07:28Phil: There we go.
- 1:07:29Peter Eggleston Connor: We'll work on that.
- 1:07:31Phil: So we…
- 1:07:31Larry Woods: Are we feeling more like the multicultural, like, easygoing town, or are we feeling more of, like, a…
- 1:07:38Larry Woods: As Lee, I love the idea of a vampire village. I like a darker setting, but that's me personally.
- 1:07:47Larry Woods: But I'm also wondering, like, And again, for those of you, again, the real life people.
- 1:07:53Larry Woods: that have been playing this game a little bit longer than I, where do you see, like, us going?
- 1:07:59Larry Woods: Or not going, I mean, that's also an option.
- 1:08:02Peter Eggleston Connor: I mean, to be perfectly honest, Lee…
- 1:08:06Peter Eggleston Connor: We just got dropped into, like, who knows where.
- 1:08:10Larry Woods: That's true!
- 1:08:11Phil: Weird.
- 1:08:11Peter Eggleston Connor: I have no idea what this world is. We didn't even really know what the last world was. I mean…
- 1:08:18Phil: I will have a map for you next time. Like I said, I have a map now, it's just not spoiler-free.
- 1:08:24Peter Eggleston Connor: Oh, yeah.
- 1:08:25Phil: But, yeah, but .
- 1:08:26Larry Woods: That's right. Willie does have a map. I'm sort of…
- 1:08:28Peter Eggleston Connor: I mean, if we wanted to really dive into this, I suppose one of us would be asking Rose more about these areas.
- 1:08:39Phil: Okay, yeah. Right, right, right.
- 1:08:41Peter Eggleston Connor: Seems like a fair place to go.
- 1:08:43Phil: Totally. And, you know, since Lee, it was your thought, maybe you should.
- 1:08:48Larry Woods: Oh, I see what you did there.
- 1:08:51Larry Woods: So I imagine that as.
- 1:08:56Larry Woods: as I'm past the ball here, that, as Rose tells Willie, that, like, don't worry, your skills will be valuable, like, just give it time. And,
- 1:09:09Larry Woods: I'm gonna try to enunciate my southern accent here. Well, Ms. Rose, I thank you kindly.
- 1:09:15Larry Woods: But I'm also wondering where my skills are not quite, feasible yet. I'm wondering…
- 1:09:24Larry Woods: How can we use your skills, or help us to get to where we need to be going?
- 1:09:30Phil: Gosh, I mean, that's… that's part of the tricky part, is we need to go everywhere.
- 1:09:36Phil: And… I mean… You know, and we don't know where to go.
- 1:09:42Phil: But we know we need to go everywhere.
- 1:09:44Phil: Okay. It's… it's not… It's not a matter of, better. It's a matter of…
- 1:09:53Phil: What do you feel like fighting first?
- 1:09:55Phil: You know, do you… Do you see yourselves as, you know, these…
- 1:10:06Phil: dark and serious monster hunters, or do you see yourselves as a wacky group of pirates, you know? That's sort of me speaking through Rose just a tiny bit there.
- 1:10:19Phil: But, and that's also speaking to you as a player. I think that… I think that,
- 1:10:27Phil: I think that our tone has leaned more towards the wacky group of pirates in the past.
- 1:10:32Phil: But, interesting… I'm trying to, I'm trying to, you know, Flex a few…
- 1:10:40Phil: different muscles here, and that, you know, I know I've said this before, of the old.
- 1:10:46Peter Eggleston Connor: I don't think our tone's gonna change wherever we go all that much, I mean, as a party.
- 1:10:51Phil: That's true.
- 1:10:52Peter Eggleston Connor: The tone of the game might change.
- 1:10:54Phil: That's fair.
- 1:10:55Peter Eggleston Connor: And we might still be the wacky group of quote-unquote pirates.
- 1:11:00Peter Eggleston Connor: They were running around in, you know, this dark… Hunter Slayer vampire thing.
- 1:11:07Peter Eggleston Connor: I would… I mean, I'm all down for going Vampire.
- 1:11:10Phil: But…
- 1:11:11Peter Eggleston Connor: If, you know, somebody's interested, I don't have a strong opinion one way or the other, or even, you know.
- 1:11:17Peter Eggleston Connor: I mean, I really don't have a strong opinion. I'm even happy to do the ball, but anyhow.
- 1:11:22Phil: Yeah? Yeah.
- 1:11:23Phil: That's, that's, that's literally, that's literally, you're, you're saying anything, anything goes.
- 1:11:29Larry Woods: And, I want to take a moment here. Avon, you've been awfully quiet.
- 1:11:35Chang Po (Brae Bluewalker of the Veilthat Clan): Yeah.
- 1:11:36Larry Woods: So you're monitoring.
- 1:11:38Chang Po (Brae Bluewalker of the Veilthat Clan): There's this weird…
- 1:11:40Chang Po (Brae Bluewalker of the Veilthat Clan): band that keeps, like, stuck in my head right now, and it's driving me crazy. It's one that the grad students would always listen to.
- 1:11:48Larry Woods: Bookin' the shit out of me.
- 1:11:53Chang Po (Brae Bluewalker of the Veilthat Clan): That's really well.
- 1:11:55Phil: No, sorry, I was just trying to…
- 1:11:56Chang Po (Brae Bluewalker of the Veilthat Clan): It's like, they're trying to be metal, But…
- 1:12:01Chang Po (Brae Bluewalker of the Veilthat Clan): I don't know if they're beginners or just bad.
- 1:12:04Phil: Ouch.
- 1:12:05Chang Po (Brae Bluewalker of the Veilthat Clan): Could be both.
- 1:12:06Larry Woods: I've been both.
- 1:12:08Peter Eggleston Connor: Can I take this, like, packet of information I'm getting right now, and just, like, sort of place it into the data file that I have of, Strife?
- 1:12:21Phil: Oh, she's… she's gone.
- 1:12:26Phil: She's not…
- 1:12:26Peter Eggleston Connor: She's not in your head.
- 1:12:28Phil: I know… well, maybe… so, okay, so… so, have you seen the show Pantheon?
- 1:12:35Phil: Okay, it's interesting. It's an animated series on Netflix right now about, like, AI, but they get created by, like, digitizing people's brains, and by digitizing, they mean, like, burning them out of their heads while they're still alive.
- 1:12:48Peter Eggleston Connor: Oh, so they, they took the, concept from… fall, or… Dodge and how… gotcha.
- 1:12:57Phil: Something like that, something like that, yeah. But, the… the gist is there, like, oh, you can always, once you're… once you're in upload, you know, you can always reload a copy. So you can reload the copy of her from before…
- 1:13:09Phil: She took over your body?
- 1:13:12Phil: So you can talk to her from before the 10 years, but, like, those 10 years, you have to, like, sift through your own memories to learn about.
- 1:13:22Peter Eggleston Connor: Yeah, yeah. I'm just gonna, like, keep her contained in, like, this, zip folder.
- 1:13:27Phil: Oh, nice!
- 1:13:28Peter Eggleston Connor: I'm gonna add this additional item to that zip folder.
- 1:13:31Phil: This additional item… which is this additional item now?
- 1:13:35Peter Eggleston Connor: As, Eamon just said.
- 1:13:38Phil: Oh, of the.
- 1:13:39Peter Eggleston Connor: I just want to piss her off.
- 1:13:40Phil: Oh, I see what you're saying. I don't know if they're trying to be metal, I don't know if they're bad, or…
- 1:13:46Chang Po (Brae Bluewalker of the Veilthat Clan): If they're… if they're beginners or both, and I just… If they're…
- 1:13:49Phil: are just bad, I see.
- 1:13:51Chang Po (Brae Bluewalker of the Veilthat Clan): I'm just…
- 1:13:51Phil: That's perfect.
- 1:13:51Chang Po (Brae Bluewalker of the Veilthat Clan): I'm just going through, like, all the reasons that they are not good, and I'm just… I'm not really talking to anybody, I'm just… at a certain point, I'm just talking to myself.
- 1:14:01Chang Po (Brae Bluewalker of the Veilthat Clan): And then at one point, I told him, I'm like, I would…
- 1:14:04Chang Po (Brae Bluewalker of the Veilthat Clan): of just, like, at one point, I lament about tacos, because all this complain… because I usually don't complain. All this complaining is making me hungry, so now I want tacos. And then I go back to, like.
- 1:14:16Chang Po (Brae Bluewalker of the Veilthat Clan): I was like, I would take… I was like.
- 1:14:19Chang Po (Brae Bluewalker of the Veilthat Clan): I would take a taco over, over, like.
- 1:14:22Chang Po (Brae Bluewalker of the Veilthat Clan): a whole year's worth of free tickets to their show, just one taco. Even it's a Taco Bell taco, and that's going real low.
- 1:14:31Phil: And that's where Innego pipes in, he's like, yeah, the food's a lot better in P-Town. And then Rose is like, there's some good places in Vanville, but, you know, you really have to hunt them out. There's a lot of dross there, too.
- 1:14:42Phil: Also, FYI, Peter, when, you dropped in all those packets of insults from, from Chu, next time you look at the zip folder, it has re- renamed itself to Fuck You Die.
- 1:14:57Phil: That's about it.
- 1:14:59Phil: And it's somehow, like, vibrating and red, so it's an angry zip file.
- 1:15:04Peter Eggleston Connor: Oh, good.
- 1:15:05Peter Eggleston Connor: I don't know if you've come across many angry zip files in your line of work. I'm gonna do everything in my power to make that a super angry zip file, and then figure out what I want to do with an angry zip file.
- 1:15:15Phil: Excellent. Figure out how I can release it in such a way to make it… That sounds magnificent. Yeah. Oh, goodness, yes, please, please, be the one, be the one who… who can… can take, can take this, this, thing that I gave you and turn it into a weapon. Absolutely. Yeah, wow.
- 1:15:34Phil: Perfect. Okay, so which, which way, which way are you leaning?
- 1:15:38Phil: if… I mean, it sounds like… sounds like Lee, in his heart of hearts, wants to… wants to go a little darker. Peter is… is, truly jack-of-all-trades here, saying he could go any direction. He's clearly… he's clearly, more suspicious of me than… than usual.
- 1:15:58Chang Po (Brae Bluewalker of the Veilthat Clan): I'm sniffing for food, and just if I smell food, I'm just walking that way.
- 1:16:03Phil: Okay.
- 1:16:03Peter Eggleston Connor: I mean, we're on a boat, so…
- 1:16:06Peter Eggleston Connor: If you smell food and it's not on the boat…
- 1:16:08Phil: you… You ate something, you ate… I think it was jerky? I think it was… was it ostrich jerky?
- 1:16:15Larry Woods: Kangaroo. Kangaroo!
- 1:16:16Phil: Jerky? Thank you. Okay, yeah.
- 1:16:18Chang Po (Brae Bluewalker of the Veilthat Clan): Oh yeah, kangaroo, yeah.
- 1:16:19Phil: Okay, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, I gotta… I'll rewrite that down. Kangaroo jerky, okay. So at least you still have some of that.
- 1:16:26Peter Eggleston Connor: I mean, I'm… I'm kind of curious to follow these, these… these interests, so… Okay. I guess my boat is now starting to slide towards…
- 1:16:36Phil: Towards, towards.
- 1:16:37Peter Eggleston Connor: fanfilm?
- 1:16:38Phil: Alright.
- 1:16:39Peter Eggleston Connor: Especially since, you know, I know, I know… Aimon… Chimed in, but,
- 1:16:48Peter Eggleston Connor: our… our, tool hasn't… Alan hasn't.
- 1:16:55Tad Eggleston: I like to solve problems.
- 1:16:58Larry Woods: With money.
- 1:16:59Peter Eggleston Connor: I would have thought you would have loved the, Pirates, just cause…
- 1:17:03Tad Eggleston: Pirates are cool.
- 1:17:04Phil: I mean…
- 1:17:05Tad Eggleston: Pirates have lots of problems, because you've got to keep the boat going, you gotta decide whether or not it's worth going after this ship or that ship.
- 1:17:14Tad Eggleston: And… and you gotta decide whether you want to be the bloodthirsty pirates, kill everybody, or… or the luffy pirates, where we're just having adventure and trying to get treasure that will then…
- 1:17:27Peter Eggleston Connor: Sure.
- 1:17:28Tad Eggleston: spent, you know, I mean, there's so many options.
- 1:17:33Tad Eggleston: But, I…
- 1:17:34Peter Eggleston Connor: I also like tacos. Do you think this world is more interesting than… The other… cause…
- 1:17:41Tad Eggleston: No?
- 1:17:42Phil: Spicy blood tacos?
- 1:17:44Peter Eggleston Connor: Spicy blood tacos.
- 1:17:45Phil: blow tacos.
- 1:17:48Peter Eggleston Connor: I mean…
- 1:17:48Tad Eggleston: This world versus… versus the world we came from?
- 1:17:52Peter Eggleston Connor: Yeah.
- 1:17:53Tad Eggleston: Well, I mean, I pretty much won that world.
- 1:17:58Peter Eggleston Connor: Alright.
- 1:17:59Phil: Perfect.
- 1:18:03Phil: Perfect, alright.
- 1:18:04Tad Eggleston: I mean, I gotta let people come catch up, and then I'll go back and see where everything's at, and there'll be new problems to solve.
- 1:18:10Phil: Oh, Beck is… okay.
- 1:18:13Phil: That gave me an idea.
- 1:18:14Peter Eggleston Connor: Finally, we came from a utopia.
- 1:18:19Phil: What utopia are you talking about here?
- 1:18:22Peter Eggleston Connor: Wherever we came from before we came into.
- 1:18:25Tad Eggleston: One in my living room.
- 1:18:26Phil: oh, okay. Yeah, I mean, I'm still, like, mentally, I'm like, we…
- 1:18:33Tad Eggleston: I have…
- 1:18:33Peter Eggleston Connor: A monk… Perfectly fine.
- 1:18:37Larry Woods: Do you have a monkey?
- 1:18:39Tad Eggleston: I do!
- 1:18:41Tad Eggleston: We play darts.
- 1:18:45Tad Eggleston: But with magnetic darts, we don't want anybody losing an eye.
- 1:18:48Peter Eggleston Connor: I feel like Alan just has a very limited, like.
- 1:18:52Peter Eggleston Connor: Understanding of what problems are out there.
- 1:18:57Peter Eggleston Connor: he comes up with one, and he's like, oh, I need to go solve this, and then he solves it, but then, like…
- 1:19:04Tad Eggleston: Well, I mean, I do have to be showing.
- 1:19:05Peter Eggleston Connor: the problem.
- 1:19:09Phil: He can't solve problems he hasn't seen before, that's for sure.
- 1:19:11Tad Eggleston: That's right.
- 1:19:12Larry Woods: Well, I'm also… maybe this is me trying to think…
- 1:19:16Tad Eggleston: It's possible that Rose has been keeping certain things away from my desk because she likes me to sleep.
- 1:19:25Peter Eggleston Connor: Hmm.
- 1:19:27Peter Eggleston Connor: So you're saying you really, really have a hard time, like, So, like, right now…
- 1:19:34Tad Eggleston: before it's solved.
- 1:19:35Peter Eggleston Connor: in this new world. That's wild.
- 1:19:37Tad Eggleston: Right now, we don't have any problems immediately in front of us.
- 1:19:41Phil: Twice.
- 1:19:41Tad Eggleston: truck.
- 1:19:42Peter Eggleston Connor: What can we do?
- 1:19:43Phil: Yeah.
- 1:19:44Phil: Not sailing on Strawberry River, but we may as well be.
- 1:19:48Larry Woods: I barely.
- 1:19:49Tad Eggleston: I mean, what problem do you want me to solve?
- 1:19:53Peter Eggleston Connor: See, this is exactly my point.
- 1:19:57Peter Eggleston Connor: He doesn't see problems, he just…
- 1:20:00Phil: Geez.
- 1:20:00Peter Eggleston Connor: If you break I bet.
- 1:20:02Peter Eggleston Connor: problem, but…
- 1:20:04Tad Eggleston: Well, I mean, there was a problem. You were holding onto the side of the boat, and I was very afraid that you could die.
- 1:20:11Peter Eggleston Connor: There you go. But you're up now!
- 1:20:14Peter Eggleston Connor: I think your perception is about an 8.
- 1:20:17Tad Eggleston: Before that, there was a problem where there was this really good-looking chocolate in a cage, so it might be…
- 1:20:27Tad Eggleston: edible. I knew better than to just cut parts of the boat without.
- 1:20:31Peter Eggleston Connor: I like how we laughed off, on mute.
- 1:20:35Larry Woods: Yep, yep.
- 1:20:37Peter Eggleston Connor: when I said your perception was about an 8.
- 1:20:39Larry Woods: Yep.
- 1:20:41Peter Eggleston Connor: No, I'm just, I'm just…
- 1:20:42Tad Eggleston: Is that enough, huh scale.
- 1:20:46Peter Eggleston Connor: I mean.
- 1:20:47Phil: How did he get Nate? We only give him D6s.
- 1:20:52Larry Woods: The amount of time I had to lie.
- 1:20:53Peter Eggleston Connor: Perception lower, but it's, you know…
- 1:20:56Peter Eggleston Connor: And of course, I'm not talking on a die scale.
- 1:20:59Peter Eggleston Connor: Yeah,
- 1:21:01Peter Eggleston Connor: On a die, I would say somehow you have a perception of a 1.
- 1:21:05Phil: Yeah. I mean, he's… Alan clearly has some issues with object permanence and self-regulation, you know? That's all we're saying.
- 1:21:14Peter Eggleston Connor: I don't know.
- 1:21:15Tad Eggleston: worth it. Self-regulation.
- 1:21:20Tad Eggleston: This is totally…
- 1:21:21Peter Eggleston Connor: Not only that one.
- 1:21:22Tad Eggleston: hated it.
- 1:21:25Phil: Oh, so with, with a, with a vote and a half, we're going, we're going right out, we're going to… to Vanville.
- 1:21:34Phil: We're going to Vampire Valley now.
- 1:21:36Tad Eggleston: Vampire?
- 1:21:37Larry Woods: I'm writing that down.
- 1:21:40Peter Eggleston Connor: Yeah, Bill.
- 1:21:40Tad Eggleston: Vampires are cool.
- 1:21:41Phil: Yeah. I, I will, I will absolutely make sure.
- 1:21:44Tad Eggleston: Let's go to Van Phil. I'm, I'm… I…
- 1:21:48Phil: Alright, did we get the… 4 years old.
- 1:21:49Tad Eggleston: Will the chocolate chip be there when we get bored?
- 1:21:52Phil: Yeah, that's how you're getting it.
- 1:21:53Tad Eggleston: Okay.
- 1:21:54Phil: You're going on the chocolate boat?
- 1:21:55Peter Eggleston Connor: I mean, we have to get there on the chocolate bow.
- 1:21:59Phil: Yes.
- 1:22:00Tad Eggleston: Well, I just wanted to make sure…
- 1:22:02Tad Eggleston: I was gonna leave when we got off.
- 1:22:05Peter Eggleston Connor: Well, that would be on Rose.
- 1:22:07Phil: Huh? What?
- 1:22:08Peter Eggleston Connor: I thought.
- 1:22:09Tad Eggleston: That was on the Dread Pirate Roberts.
- 1:22:11Peter Eggleston Connor: Isn't Rosa dread via Robert?
- 1:22:13Tad Eggleston: No, Fezzik is the Dread Pilot Roberts.
- 1:22:16Peter Eggleston Connor: Oh, that's right.
- 1:22:17Phil: Yeah.
- 1:22:18Phil: Who's just… who's just, like, clearly, obviously in love with Rose the way Wesley was with Buttercup.
- 1:22:25Phil: That's why the only thing he says is, as you wish.
- 1:22:29Peter Eggleston Connor: But I'm lost. Was Rose the captain, or is Fezik, as the Dreadkip Pirate Roberts, the captain?
- 1:22:36Phil: I… Rose is the captain, yeah.
- 1:22:38Peter Eggleston Connor: Okay.
- 1:22:39Phil: Yeah.
- 1:22:39Peter Eggleston Connor: Oh, it's up to Rope.
- 1:22:41Phil: This is where, this is where, now that we've confirmed we're going to Ventville, so first of all, last episode, Tad had said hi to Luffy. The Luffy that's on the ship is, so you know how there's, like, a mermaid on the front of the boat beneath the,
- 1:22:54Phil: Like, there's one of those, but with Luffy. Luffy's the masthead on the front of the boat. He is also the pirate pope of a pirate religion.
- 1:23:05Peter Eggleston Connor: So, we should definitely not… chop that off and let him sink to the C. Bottom of the C.
- 1:23:11Phil: Well, it's just chocolate, so it's not actually him, but it was just, like, you know, that was how he saw Luffy. Luffy is, again, the pope of all pirates in this world, a leader of the pirate religion, yeah.
- 1:23:25Peter Eggleston Connor: Things I didn't know until now, because I missed last episode.
- 1:23:28Phil: Right? Well, last episode, I just wanted to make it clear that Luffy was not sailing with us, but he is in the world somewhere. Much like Wesley.
- 1:23:36Peter Eggleston Connor: Yeah, so it's a, it's a, chocolate wood copy of Luffy.
- 1:23:42Phil: Yeah, it's, like, well-marbled, you know, those sorts of things.
- 1:23:46Peter Eggleston Connor: Sometime in the last 10 years since this world dropped into existence, he has become the pope of our religion.
- 1:23:52Phil: Yeah, it didn't take very long.
- 1:23:54Tad Eggleston: But, Amazing.
- 1:23:56Peter Eggleston Connor: You don't have much history.
- 1:23:57Tad Eggleston: The Pope is pretty active. Is he the Pope, or is he a saint?
- 1:24:02Peter Eggleston Connor: I'm pretty sure he's probably pretty active. I mean, he's loosey.
- 1:24:07Phil: Yeah.
- 1:24:08Peter Eggleston Connor: Gotta have a ship.
- 1:24:09Phil: he's got a…
- 1:24:10Peter Eggleston Connor: Probably still running around doing pirating.
- 1:24:13Phil: He's got a Pope straw hat.
- 1:24:15Tad Eggleston: Okay.
- 1:24:15Phil: Or a straw popat, whichever you want to put it.
- 1:24:18Tad Eggleston: Okay.
- 1:24:18Phil: But yeah, yeah, so, so you go sailing. As you cross the, the boundary between, one side and the next, you're…
- 1:24:29Phil: boat, you know, tips slightly as it realigns to the gravity, and you notice that the waters go from a clearer blue… they were a very dark blue, a very dark wine blue, but now they're even more murky. And as you go sailing deeper into the side, trees, you know, you basically start going from, like.
- 1:24:47Phil: river to marsh, sort of. So as you drive, your, great pirate, like, Spanish galleon slowly, remorphs itself into, a bit of… like, one of those… one of those fan boats, that… to going through the wetlands.
- 1:25:03Phil: Sort of thing. It's a very big one. It's a very, very big one. But, that's what you're… you're sailing on, more of a barge, you know. As you come in to, you know, there are these dark, these dark plants and, a wooden…
- 1:25:19Phil: A wooden village setup where, you know, there are a few torches, but it's… it's… it's a… it's a world where it's always night, you know, and you can see
- 1:25:27Phil: glowing red eyes and, and fangs, you know, amongst the people there. But again, they're, they're, they're, while, scary, they are not hostile, and this is a civilization where, you know, they realize that, hey.
- 1:25:42Phil: the real enemy right now are the, pirate kaiju… er, not the pirates, but,
- 1:25:48Phil: the… the, you know, the kaiju gods, and they're… they're not, you know, they're still… they're still vampire pirates, they still abide by pirate code, even if, you know, they… they disagree with the pirate pope right now, because they're vampires, so of course they hate Christianity.
- 1:26:02Phil: That sort of thing. And you make your way into the tavern, what's a good… what's a good name for, like, a vampire bar?
- 1:26:12Phil: You know, something…
- 1:26:18Larry Woods: The last, the last drop, or the last drip.
- 1:26:21Phil: The last trip? Okay. Then we're going to the last trip.
- 1:26:28Phil: And as you walk in there, you know, it's a… your typical, dark, thuggy sort of, tavern, where, you know, there's… there's a bartender, vampire bartender, standing behind, polishing a…
- 1:26:44Phil: Blood-stained glass that never gets any clearer.
- 1:26:49Phil: And, you know, with these wayward passing adventures, you see there is a quest board. You know, sort of a glowing, interactive, like, you know, if this was a video game, it would be like a, hey, there's, you know, look at this!
- 1:27:03Larry Woods: Important.
- 1:27:04Phil: Exactly, yeah, yeah. There's, there's various,
- 1:27:08Phil: information on there. And this is where… so… First of all, the first…
- 1:27:16Phil: The first, you know, quest.
- 1:27:19Phil: That, which I guess, you know…
- 1:27:22Phil: You can add to these if you have ones. I mean…
- 1:27:27Phil: Peter, I don't know if, Lex's question of what is this place was answered, or even answered enough, or is that still a quest? We're gonna go with what is this place?
- 1:27:37Peter Eggleston Connor: I mean, it's probably never… gonna be never-ending.
- 1:27:41Phil: Yeah.
- 1:27:42Peter Eggleston Connor: The, actual, reality of this place, which is…
- 1:27:48Phil: I… I want to find a good way to establish…
- 1:27:53Phil: the mentality of, like, hey, you are in a fantasy world so that, like, you're at least aware of the
- 1:28:02Phil: die in the way that the characters in the graphic novel were, you know? But it's slightly different, because this is your first time here, and not like you were there as kids, and now you're back again.
- 1:28:10Phil: So…
- 1:28:11Phil: If we could get there one of these days, that'd be great. But on the quest board before you, there are, you know, a few…
- 1:28:19Phil: cryptically named ones. One is called the Corpse of War. So, if you want to go find what happened to the corpse of the God of War, that is a quest.
- 1:28:30Phil: There are a few other quests for summoning other god monsters. If you want to face the, the monster of the god of excess, you would participate in the Atrocity exhibition.
- 1:28:46Phil: If you wanted to summon the, the God of Water, you would take up the quest to drown the world.
- 1:28:54Phil: And if you wanted to make contact with the god of the underworld, you would perform the mortal coil shuffle.
- 1:29:02Phil: All of these are different quests or activities that you would lead to. It's kind of a half…
- 1:29:09Phil: hunting exhibition, half vision quest.
- 1:29:13Phil: summoning ritual. That's how you would encounter these gods to fight. So there'd be various tasks to perform. And that's where you see that, at the very end of the board, there is a quest to summon the god of fire, and the name of it is simply, Burn This Place to the ground.
- 1:29:35Phil: And that is just about where we would end this episode. Next time, you'll start by, you know, where we could quickly pick, right now, which type of quest you feel like going on next time, so we could set it up with a little bit more direction than we did this time. I'll reread these Savage Shores to drop as many, pirate vampire Easter eggs as I can in there.
- 1:29:55Phil: All those good sorts of things. Yeah, and then if you wanna, you know.
- 1:30:00Phil: Next time we… we set out on the path to fight to God.
- 1:30:05Phil: The question at this point is which one?
- 1:30:10Tad Eggleston: Well, I mean, we already fought the Stay Puff Marshmallow Man, so I feel like…
- 1:30:16Phil: You joined the State Puff Marshmallow Man.
- 1:30:18Tad Eggleston: Well, see, what I learned from Squirrel Girl is fights aren't always fights.
- 1:30:25Phil: Mmm.
- 1:30:29Tad Eggleston: So…
- 1:30:32Phil: Admittedly, I haven't read Scroll Girl, so I don't know where you…
- 1:30:34Tad Eggleston: Well, that's just silly of you.
- 1:30:36Phil: I know.
- 1:30:37Phil: One of the silliest things.
- 1:30:40Phil: stars and wishes, I didn't know if anyone had anything. Peter, I'm sorry if I said I feel… I definitely forgot too much of our conversation, because I remember.
- 1:30:50Peter Eggleston Connor: I wasn't entirely sure where you're going, and maybe you did or didn't, it's fine. I… I just,
- 1:31:00Peter Eggleston Connor: I was a little confused, that's all. I mean…
- 1:31:02Phil: Yeah, I… Unfortunately, realizing that's… it's… it's… It's all more, you know…
- 1:31:08Peter Eggleston Connor: Honestly, it's… it's all good, but…
- 1:31:10Phil: Okay, that's good.
- 1:31:11Peter Eggleston Connor: I wouldn't worry too much about it. Like, I'm fairly open to however you want to do things. Most of the time, if there's any, like, hard boundaries, I'm probably gonna press them, but…
- 1:31:22Phil: do it, yeah, no, I, I, again, this is… so, so, I was hoping… this is… this is one of the reasons why…
- 1:31:31Phil: So that, that, that quest, Burn This Place to the Ground, is, gonna be on every quest board until you take it.
- 1:31:38Phil: So… I mean, maybe that's a little bit… a little bit of a spoiler where I was going with there, but if we had gone to Pirate Town, it would have been the last quest on the board there, too. That said, not every quest is going to be available in every location, so, like.
- 1:31:53Phil: exploring for the Corpse of War and the other gods that I mentioned, the God of Access and the… the underworld God, those… those do have quests from this board, so, yeah, if… if you had gone the other way, there would have been…
- 1:32:08Phil: a few other quests to see and explore. So… so yeah, so it's… it's, really trying to…
- 1:32:16Phil: get to that place of the… I originally envisioned of, like, hey, this is…
- 1:32:20Phil: You know, a full-on freaking world that has pre-planned places and quests and things to do, and
- 1:32:28Phil: all of that. That being said, again, I think next episode going into it, Lee, let me know if you… if you think, level 3 would be fair, or level 4.
- 1:32:41Phil: kind of one of those where, like I said, I know you haven't gotten a chance to play with your toys very much, if at all, really, but,
- 1:32:50Phil: You know, but definitely, you know, want, want you to, to not feel,
- 1:32:56Phil: I mean, I think it's… I think power level is pretty high in Die, so I… hopefully you wouldn't feel too, like, you know, I'm trying to think of in D&D, of like, I don't want you to feel, squishy compared to everyone else, like, you won't be able to fight alongside them somehow.
- 1:33:10Larry Woods: Yeah.
- 1:33:11Larry Woods: Well, my initial reaction, and I'll say this, and maybe this is sort of capping myself, or handicapping myself, rather.
- 1:33:19Larry Woods: given that I haven't really had much combat, which… I'm not necessarily asking for this, but obviously this will be fun anyway. Given that I haven't had a lot of combat to try out those toys, I think that would be a good sort of play to sort of see where I'm at, or how squishy I am. Nice. But, yeah, I did see that I did get a new gift.
- 1:33:38Larry Woods: And I th- I have it written down.
- 1:33:41Larry Woods: But I have to check with you to see what's in the…
- 1:33:44Larry Woods: realm of being fair here, I have MI-assisted,
- 1:33:50Phil: weaponry, right? So now my Colt 45 has much more…
- 1:33:55Larry Woods: AI, or excuse me, MI enhancements. AI is derogatory.
- 1:34:00Phil: That's true.
- 1:34:00Tad Eggleston: Right!
- 1:34:02Larry Woods: I had that written in my notes. So, by the way, Chad.
- 1:34:05Larry Woods: You send me your email, man, I…
- 1:34:07Phil: Huh.
- 1:34:08Larry Woods: I have, I think I'm gonna try to… I have a Google Doc that I'll share with everybody.
- 1:34:14Larry Woods: Just to see…
- 1:34:16Peter Eggleston Connor: Oh.
- 1:34:17Larry Woods: That's where I got.
- 1:34:17Peter Eggleston Connor: I was thinking that.
- 1:34:19Peter Eggleston Connor: Well, I'll say it off here. Anyhow.
- 1:34:23Larry Woods: Oh, I guess we can all do our thing, that's cool too. But yeah, that would be my initial reaction is, I'll probably keep it pretty,
- 1:34:31Larry Woods: Pretty simple, but yeah, I think it makes sense, just story-wise.
- 1:34:36Phil: Yeah, yeah, yeah, I think… well, that was your first… that was your first gift with the gun, was the… the MI-assisted targeting.
- 1:34:44Larry Woods: But then…
- 1:34:45Phil: So for Level 2, you can either pick a new gift, like a new, you know,
- 1:34:53Phil: like, a different… a different, machine, or you can get an upgrade to the one you have. So that was… that was one of the things when, kind of.
- 1:35:01Phil: looking at the skill tree, there are times where it says new gift, wherein that you can either pick an upgrade or a whole new gift, and then there are times where it's just an upgrade. So if you wanted to have the most diversity possible with the number of gifts, I think you can get up to, like, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, you can get up to 6.
- 1:35:19Phil: 7 with the interesting decision. So, so yeah, so it's just one of those where I'm like.
- 1:35:25Phil: And of course, the Neos do also have a respec ability, which is quite interesting. But yeah, yeah, just wanted to, you know…
- 1:35:33Larry Woods: Oh, thank you.
- 1:35:34Phil: Yeah, and the way… the way I look at it is that anything… anything in the book is, is fair game, you know? There's… it's one of those where there's not really any abilities
- 1:35:46Phil: in the gamebook that I'm scared of, or don't want people to use, it's one of those, if it's interesting to you, it's interesting to me, and we'll do something cool with it.
- 1:35:55Larry Woods: Sounds good.
- 1:35:56Phil: Damn.
- 1:35:59Larry Woods: Yeah, I'll be in touch.
- 1:36:01Larry Woods: Excellent.
- 1:36:02Phil: Alright.
- 1:36:03Phil: It sounds like that was about it. Unless anybody had anything else, wanted to speak now or forever, hold your peace.
- 1:36:12Phil: With that, I… this is… this is where I'm like, Tad, Tad, you…
- 1:36:17Phil: I can't do this. I can't do everything you do. You know, you're way too important to comics as a whole. I mean, you know, not only that, but you can't leave Paul Pope hanging tonight. You gotta get back out there.
- 1:36:28Tad Eggleston: Well, okay, you're right. I'm not gonna leave Paul hanging. He was kind enough to fit me into his busy schedule.
- 1:36:36Tad Eggleston: So, yeah, alright. Alright. There will be more 22 panels. It's not 22 panels no more. It's 22 panels and, and some, some, some dye in between.
- 1:36:49Tad Eggleston: So, for Peter Lee.
- 1:36:54Tad Eggleston: Jonathan and our marvelous Game Master, Phil, this has been 22 Panels, and we will see you after the next page.
