- 0:52dot US. We got to bless the show.
- 0:54Before we get started. Let's go.
- 0:58When it was in my mother's womb, I had a calling on my life to do
- 1:02something in the glory of God and marry it black and white and
- 1:06commit myself to His word and never be LED astray.
- 1:10And when it's all over, when He comes, I'll be glad to see that
- 1:14day in the morning time. Hey, Mister man, how you doing?
- 5:12Hey, did you see the game last night?
- 5:16But did you see the shot? I lost money from that.
- 5:19Oh man, the shot was. Unexpected sickle cell trait.
- 5:42Ham are. You serious?
- 5:44When I was young I found out I had sickle cell trait.
- 5:47My mom's told me but I didn't have no knowledge of it.
- 5:50But when I got older I had a child and the doctor told me my
- 5:52daughter had sickle cell. Trait do.
- 5:54You know, the fact that both parents have sickle cell trait,
- 5:56there's a 50% chance the child may have the trait and 25%
- 6:00chance the child may have the disease.
- 6:02And that's what's the count. Do you know that 2.5 million
- 6:05people in the United States have sickle cell trait?
- 6:07300 million people globally. I didn't find out I had sickle
- 6:09cell trait until I was in the Army 10 years.
- 6:12Next thing you know I had a sickle cell trait exertion site.
- 6:15April cell? I thought that was a black gene
- 6:17or something. Nah man, the black community is
- 6:19number 21 out of 36,000 babies are being born with sickle cell
- 6:23disease. You could be a Caucasian,
- 6:24Mediterranean, European. You got really a bloodline, man.
- 6:30There is an inherited gene in our community that has been
- 6:33forgotten. The name is Sickle cell trait.
- 6:36WDCONSCT, also known as What's the Count, is out to bring
- 6:40awareness, education and prevention to people all over
- 6:43the globe. Want more information?

- 9:32show, you know? We've got, we've got 1000.
- 9:38For you, what's what? What are you looking forward to
- 9:40November 7th? I'm looking.
- 9:41Forward to just the the opportunity to to to show the
- 9:44world that, you know, black home promotion company in this era
- 9:49now and the way it is in boxing right now.
- 9:51There's so much stuff going on boxing, so much politics and
- 9:54boxing, you know, today, yesterday, Shakur Stevens got
- 9:58released from his summer boxing and you know, it's like, I think
- 10:02I don't blame the young buck, but just you guys in in the
- 10:05industry, they they take forever to to fight.
- 10:08You know you, I mean back in the day, you talk crap using the
- 10:11ring like two months later, but what No, what, no, you 45 and
- 10:15I'm 27 trying to fight, you know, over the wheel.
- 10:18And you know when, when when Mayweather fought, you know,
- 10:21packet, it was both out of they going out of their prime into
- 10:24their mid prime into the in the old man rocket chair state when
- 10:27they fought. I think they both would have
- 10:29fought at at their their peak of their career or there've been a
- 10:33battle right there. That'd be about a four or $500
- 10:35million. Fight easy.
- 10:36Oh my goodness. But you know, the crowds that
- 10:38lost their, their persona and, and the way they were in the
- 10:43boxing world, you know, when I got into it in 2012, back to the
- 10:47to, to the greatest, one of the greatest ## one of the greatest
- 10:50defensive fighters all the time. James blind side Tony shot to
- 10:53James. It was a different persona.
- 10:55James talks shit, but James he, he'll fight anybody and plays
- 10:58any time in his draws. And you had to make it happen
- 11:01with James. James would take you down.
- 11:03He'd go to city to city and find you and talk about your Mama.
- 11:06He could beat your Mama. He sold a ticket and he never
- 11:09let the crowd down either. He I don't care what kind of
- 11:11shape you say James in James could be a a Nat and flying by
- 11:16and he get it with a body shot, a little shot to the.
- 11:18Nat to the Nat and. He couldn't keep me to the to
- 11:21the to the mosquito. They're going down.
- 11:23You know what I mean? So shut up.
- 11:25My boy James, the Hall of Famer, he was there when I popped the
- 11:29big question to my my new wife to be December 20th.
- 11:33He was there when I popped the question and his wife, little
- 11:35wife Angie and he got a son, James Junior in the ranks.
- 11:38Now who's who's training for his first fight the 21st of November
- 11:42in Detroit and then in this big term he got there.
- 11:45So look how forward. I'm sure James, you have more
- 11:48stuff on. So he going he's going to try to
- 11:49make it here on my my party Friday.
- 11:51But his contact, you know, our our contact and our and our
- 11:55scheduling. It's difficult it's hard to get
- 11:57him in on Friday, but he send a shout out.
- 11:59He he he he he threw a couple of cigars my way.
- 12:01It's my birthday. So got my boy James Tony and
- 12:05shout out to the man who's making this happen, Mr. Jeff
- 12:08Davis. Jeff the motion, another Libra
- 12:10like me had a birthday on the 15th and we, we put a hell of a
- 12:13show on. It's going to be 8 cover bouts,
- 12:1638 incredible rounds of some of the hardest hitting, best talent
- 12:21you want to see from Mr. Otorio. You know, Diaz, you got you got
- 12:27the Diaz, you got Guado deals, LAPD blue finance blue LAPD
- 12:33officer plants. All people out there, you know,
- 12:36all people out there in the Copland come out to Portugal on
- 12:39November 7th. But the main thing, those
- 12:41tickets are on sale now. We gotta get them.
- 12:43We gotta get them. No safecorner.com.
- 12:45I say no, no safecorner.com. They'll sale 85115, one 85125
- 12:54and one 15125. We did a big dog at 1200 for the
- 12:57white blood seats for six people.
- 13:00So it it's out there. So we we gotta come out there
- 13:02and represent one of one of our our first one of our promotion
- 13:06is don't get it twisted. It may be Mr. Davis's first
- 13:10professional, you know, show, but we are kind of sure of the
- 13:16fight game. We do the fight game.
- 13:17We have the great matchmakers. It's going to be a great, great
- 13:20evening to boxing on on the. November. 7th Thunder Studios,

- 13:36Yeah, we going to talk about when he gets here later on,
- 13:38we're going to talk about that name.
- 13:40I was like. So let's bring, let's bring
- 13:42Aaron's here. Just bring Aaron to the deck
- 13:44real quick. Get him up here.
- 13:46What's happening, my guy? What's up y'all?
- 13:48How? Y'all doing how you doing?
- 13:50Before we do anything I want to do a proper introduction to this
- 13:53young man as they come up here. Mr. We met actually I met Aaron
- 13:57through meet his trainer and and one of one of the best to meet
- 14:01middle weight fighters around there.
- 14:03Mr. What gene Middle weight? Middle weight and and you know
- 14:06Mr. Adam the cannon, you know Brandon the cannon, you know
- 14:10Adam's cannon nation and his, his his mid girl.
- 14:14Your mid girl. I could get her name but she a
- 14:16mom. Coach.
- 14:17Cam. No, I'm sorry, Coach Cam.
- 14:20Incredible man. And the gentleman is 2 and one.
- 14:23Would she be 3 and 3 and 1? He got robbed on the last fight
- 14:26each. Jeff, he got robbed.
- 14:27And if you see the footage, he got robbed.
- 14:29But he's two and one. How many?
- 14:31Yeah. How many?
- 14:31Knockout 1 Knockout got. One knockout, yeah.
- 14:33Could it be two on on on number 7th and he a great, great,
- 14:38great, great guy and I'm glad to have him on our team for his
- 14:40first bout historic bout we doing so so so take it away.
- 14:45Mr. Mr. Whitehurst, tell us a little bit about yourself.
- 14:47Wait, give me some background man.
- 14:49How you guys doing? My name is Aaron like y'all
- 14:52talked about. I'm from Long Beach, CA born and
- 14:55raised, went to Polly, went to Long Beach State, started boxing
- 14:59for real during COVID. Like it's been 6 years since
- 15:03stopping boxing now. And initially it wasn't even
- 15:06supposed to be something that turned into a career.
- 15:08It was more so like I just wanted to do it to like stay in
- 15:11shape and stay active. And then one day my dad was just
- 15:14like I was saying you know it was COVID people working from
- 15:17home and then you got people that got to go to work.
- 15:19I feel like my dad was mad he was the only one in the house
- 15:22who had to go to work while the. Rest of us were working from the
- 15:24crib. So it's like I'm working from
- 15:26the crib and I'm boxing and then my dad walks in one day.
- 15:28He's like everyday I come home. You watching boxing, you always
- 15:31talk about boxing doing some boxing like have you ever talked
- 15:33about just trying it and it's like for real, like really give
- 15:36it a go. And so I prayed on it and I just
- 15:39asked God to give me a sign if like if he had a favorite for me
- 15:43in it and he did. He showed me a couple signs and
- 15:47I haven't stopped since. Spent about three years in
- 15:50Amateurs Turn Pro last February in 2025 started off with a
- 15:55second round knockout and now we're here 2 and one November
- 15:597th ready to make it 3 and 1. Ready to have another dominant
- 16:02performance and show why I'm somebody that people should be
- 16:05watching out for. Yeah, go ahead, go.
- 16:10Ahead So tell me what why were you watching all the boxing
- 16:13doing the doing the pandemic, man, what was what was the itch?
- 16:15I've always been, I've always been a fan of boxing.
- 16:17So like, the first live boxing match I saw was Floyd versus
- 16:21Victor Ortiz when I was like 13 or 14.
- 16:24Yeah. And you know, it was a
- 16:26controversial fight because of how Floyd stopped them.
- 16:28But like, since then, like, it always peaked my interest.
- 16:31So like, I went back. I watched Floyd's whole career.
- 16:33I watched Andre Ward's whole career.
- 16:35I started watching Sugar Ray Leonard and Sweet Pete Whitaker
- 16:38and Wilfred Benitez and guys like that.
- 16:41Like I always like sling guys. I always like boxers, I always
- 16:44like boxer punchers. You know, I like people who look
- 16:46like me. And so I just so I felt a little
- 16:48of the sports. I was always a fan of the sport
- 16:50even before I started competing. And so it's just something that
- 16:54grabs you. It's like, it's like when you
- 16:57see like a beautiful girl like from across the room and you
- 17:00just can't stop looking at her. Like that's how boxing is.
- 17:02Like boxing grabs you like that? You know what I'm saying?
- 17:05Like a magic wand. You know what I'm saying?
- 17:07Like it just incenses you become intoxicated with it.
- 17:11Yeah, you do, Mr. Dozer, I think Mr. Davis once said you have a
- 17:16call in number. Can you give me a call in
- 17:18number? Oh no, not no.
- 17:21But. He he can stream, he can stream
- 17:23in and and. And yeah, that's the question.
- 17:25Yeah. Told me he got the screaming
- 17:27stuff too. Yeah.
- 17:28So I told him to scream in. Yeah, just scream in, you know.
- 17:31So, yeah, you, you text him and let him know he can stream.
- 17:33He can just stream in. I I gave him a streaming number.
- 17:36You can't call that for this. Yeah, yeah, no, not this one.
- 17:40So what do you want to say about Pops, man?
- 17:41What do you want to say? Let's talk about family real
- 17:43quick. What do you want to say about
- 17:44the family? You know, I, I'm very inspired
- 17:48by both of my parents, both of my parents coming from
- 17:51households where they like kind of had to figure it out for
- 17:53themselves. You know, my mom, she had lost
- 17:56both of life. She had lost her father when she
- 17:59was 19. My pops had lost both of his
- 18:02parents before he had even gone to college.
- 18:04And so they did a lot of just figuring it out and a lot of
- 18:07finding ways to put food on the table, making their own way of
- 18:09life, having to bump their head and learn from their own
- 18:11mistakes and what not. And so seeing like where they
- 18:15got to with the life they've made for themselves and the life
- 18:18they were able to give us really inspires me and pushes me
- 18:21because it's like they worked hard so that their kids can have
- 18:24the opportunity to chase the things they want in life.
- 18:26And so it's like, why would I waste what the hard work of my
- 18:30parents who are trying to give me the best opportunities
- 18:33possible? So that's like the big
- 18:35inspiration for them. They always raised me with a big
- 18:39foundation like in God, Like if you, you know, you know the
- 18:43Bible, you know about the story of Hannah and her being the
- 18:45mother of the prophet Samuel and her asking God in the presence
- 18:49of Eli, like shit, if he'll just give her a child, she'll give it
- 18:52back to him. I like that.
- 18:53That's in a large way. Like that's how my parents were
- 18:55with all of us. They definitely raised all their
- 18:57children like in the presence of the Lord and in the faith of the
- 19:01Lord. We were in his house, but it
- 19:02wasn't like stopped at the church house like at the church
- 19:05and at home. We very much know like the Lord
- 19:08was king. And so I would say like that's
- 19:09the foundation that gave me for life to just be respectful, be
- 19:13God fearing and to be hardworking and discipline, you
- 19:16know, so they definitely install those characteristics in me and
- 19:19I try to let that be to accomplish that guys, my life
- 19:22now and. Then I like that.
- 19:24I like, I like that because some, you know, in in our
- 19:27generation, my generation, your generation, a lot of people take
- 19:31those those back stories, man, and they're mad at their
- 19:33parents. You know, they don't, they
- 19:34don't, they don't really see, you know, what our parents go
- 19:37through when they grew up in their environment, right?
- 19:39And it plays out, plays out in, in real time in their life as
- 19:42adults. So I like how you could look
- 19:44back and reflect that perspective, that perception,
- 19:47like, you know, what they went through, they what they went
- 19:49through and and they gave me this life and it's my turn to
- 19:52make, you know, make something of it.
- 19:53So I like how you, a lot of people don't have that
- 19:55perspective when you talk to people.
- 19:57They used to be upset with something in the family, right?
- 20:00That's it. That's it.
- 20:01Yeah. Aaron, I have a question for you
- 20:05now. How would you let your fans know
- 20:07how to get those tickets, man? Can you tell them how to get
- 20:08them tickets? Oh of course, if you want to get
- 20:11a ticket for the fight November 7th, you can either reach out to
- 20:15me like you can DM me on my Instagram which is Aaron dot
- 20:17GCO, or you can go to nosafecorner.com, hit the link
- 20:22and buy tickets online. Make sure you go to the tab that
- 20:26says supporting Aaron buy tickets.
- 20:28For Aaron. You know what I'm saying?
- 20:31But yeah, there's no $85.85 Dollar General admission.
- 20:35You got the ring size, which is like 125 to 150 and then you got
- 20:39the sofa lined seats, which is like 1200.
- 20:41But whatever view you're going to be, whatever like you decide
- 20:45to buy, there's not going to be a bad seat in the house.
- 20:46It's a great venue that the studios has a great view of the
- 20:50ring no matter where you at. So pull up, come see me, get
- 20:54another one and come see me be dominant, you know, and God
- 20:57willing to get my hand raised and both me and my opponent, you
- 21:00know, walk out the ring under our own 2 feet.
- 21:02Yes, Sir. Yes Sir.
- 21:03I'm going to talk about. I got a question for you as to
- 21:05why, why her stick is out now I'm, I'm, I, I consider myself a
- 21:09boxing library. Now if you can go back 10 years,
- 21:16maybe 15 years, then you have a chance to fight some of these
- 21:19greats. Who would you want to fight in
- 21:20your weight class? At 1:15 and 1:18, you talking
- 21:24about the Roman Chocolatito Gonzalez's?
- 21:27You talking about the Juan Francisco Estrada's, the Soriska
- 21:30at Saronga Massage, the Carlos Quadrices, You know, like all
- 21:34those guys, that was like when they were in their prime, when
- 21:36HBO After Dark had all the little guys on there scrapping.
- 21:40So I'll just, I'll be right in that mix.
- 21:41I'll be fighting all those dudes in their prime, to be honest.
- 21:46Yeah, I would say those are the names, those four names I'll
- 21:48fight before Kings of 115 at the time.
- 21:51Big time. See what we're talking about
- 21:52now. What you How do you see yourself
- 21:54when you first met Mr. Jeff Davis?
- 21:56How did that come about? You and Jeff, it was somewhere
- 22:00through this guy, one of my sponsors, he does my trunks.
- 22:03His name is James. His brand is Teflon 7.
- 22:06And he had been like tagging me on like all of Jeff's posts and
- 22:12he had told me like, oh, like you need to follow this guy.
- 22:15So me and Jeff followed each other.
- 22:17And then I seen him post that he had just gotten his promoter's
- 22:21license. He was officially licensed to be
- 22:22a promoter. So I reached out to him and I
- 22:24was like, are you having a car before the year last time?
- 22:26I'm trying to fight again. And he told me he was and I was
- 22:29like, all right, bro, like I would love to be on the car.
- 22:31And he asked to see my last fight.
- 22:35So I sent him my last fight from April.
- 22:37And he was like, we'll definitely have you on the car.
- 22:39And you know, it went from there.
- 22:41I was able to meet him in person at the venue a couple weeks
- 22:45back. They're not disappointed.
- 22:48Is energy on the phone definitely translated?
- 22:51Oh yeah. Oh, oh, and that and that Jeff
- 22:54David laugh, dude, that Jeff David laugh, boys classic.
- 22:57That laugh, that smile. He know, he know the game, he
- 23:00know the business. He was a smart anybody came to
- 23:02me and said, Dre, you know everybody in this game and and
- 23:06like you be my, you know, my president of box operation.
- 23:10I was very honored to do that. I know the the cut off point
- 23:15when it comes down to fighters, when it comes to cutting weight,
- 23:18how do you keep yourself in shape, what you're eating, your
- 23:20mindset and how you do things. And Jeff was was so just he like
- 23:27being fucked with the liberated for that kind of stuff.
- 23:29Like what do they really mean by you cutting the weight with
- 23:32these fighters? But he's straight to the point.
- 23:34If you if you hear the fight, you come to fight.
- 23:36That why he named it no say corner.
- 23:38There ain't no say corner getting that right when you got
- 23:40somebody hurt or they were they hoping for that bill to save
- 23:43them and then you can't save save that last round.
- 23:45So when you beating them up on the November 7th, Mr. Wider, let
- 23:49them know and whisper There ain't no say corners bro.
- 23:52We going to go and. Go no it's never another safe
- 23:54corner in there when you got 8 oz gloves on and two growing in
- 23:58you know going in there there's no safe corner and you know all
- 24:01they like the LSA in boxing bro, one punch changes everything so
- 24:06with one punch anybody could be unsafe, but you know I put the
- 24:09work in to make sure I'm the one that's good and that they don't
- 24:12want in trouble so that's how I look at it I.
- 24:16Love it, I love. It What do you what do you want
- 24:18to say about your camp man? What do you want to?
- 24:20Say about your camp, how about that that Brandon Cannon?
- 24:23Camp, oh man, I mean my camp. I'm blessed.
- 24:26I'm blessed to be up under Brandon under Cam.
- 24:29You know, Brandon, like Dre said, he's one of the best
- 24:31fighters in the world. He's been ranked top five in his
- 24:33weight class for for forever. He fought competed for world
- 24:37titles. He just came off with a dominant
- 24:39win over Sir he Belichick. So when you got one of the best
- 24:42in the world today, overseeing your training day in day out,
- 24:46giving you like the little things in there and he's able to
- 24:49be more hands on than your regular coach, like I'm sport,
- 24:52Brandon, I don't know how many times.
- 24:54And so when you're exploring somebody like that and they tell
- 24:57me you're doing this, you're doing that, I'm seeing this,
- 25:02this is this is the opening that you're leaving for me.
- 25:04Like it's a whole different perspective and it's a
- 25:07perspective that most fighters don't get to have.
- 25:09And so I would say that is that's one of the reasons I feel
- 25:11like my camp is the best camp, one of the most left on camps in
- 25:14the game. But you know, with more time and
- 25:16just continue to be coachable and learnable and, you know,
- 25:20continuing to grow under him. Like people would see like how
- 25:23good of a coach Brandon is, how good of a team Brandon Cam shout
- 25:27out Renee Renee's another coach in the gym has worked with
- 25:29fighters like Roy Manvia and Venado Lopez, and he's over at
- 25:33Canton Nation too. And so all the eyes that are in
- 25:36there that who've seen the sport at a world class level, it's
- 25:39definitely it's humbling and it's humbling because there's
- 25:43always something to work on. There's always something for
- 25:45them to, you know, tell you that you're better at.
- 25:47But it's a blessing because you're always getting better.
- 25:49And that's all in any fighter color force to keep getting
- 25:52better. You know, everyone is stagnate.
- 25:56But we say, man, we always said that when that's why we had this
- 25:58show. That's why if I went went, you
- 26:01know, if Ron came into this bags canvas, man, I was like, man,
- 26:04put me on board. It's like, you know, I'm the I
- 26:07like to be the voice man. But Jeff got a huge
- 26:10announcement. He haven't made it yet.
- 26:12Who who a special guest is going to be is going game changer.
- 26:16He can't wait. He like me, he can't wait.
- 26:18And I feel that the game of the boxing is so, so, so dramatic
- 26:24sometimes. But you're going to bring the
- 26:26magic that day along with that whole entire card of guys with
- 26:30Patrick Patterson, a special tag who's trained by Terry
- 26:34Claiborne, who's you know, who trained Denzel for the
- 26:37hurricane. It's going to be epic nightmare.
- 26:40It's going to be iconic night and it's going to be a great
- 26:43time. But remember folks, those
- 26:44tickets are on sale right now. We'll get them tickets at
- 26:47www@nosafecorner.com. They selling crazy.
- 26:50And if you miss out, don't be calling me in jail the next day
- 26:53and and, and Aaron say I missed your fight when you live 10
- 26:56minutes down the road. So ain't no excuses.
- 26:59We bring the women out. We we got we got veteran
- 27:01discount for vets for first responders.
- 27:03Come check us out November 7th. It's going to be a great, great
- 27:07night to fight and boy, I'll take.
- 27:08Same way, you know, and I, I, I got a probably a sense of it,
- 27:12but I don't, I don't want to just guess, but your mindset,
- 27:15the mental toughness, is it growing up in Long Beach, you
- 27:18know, I hear the spiritual contact deep rooted.
- 27:21The seeds are there. So what?
- 27:23What does that mental toughness come from, man?
- 27:25I mean, definitely, you know, growing up in Long Beach, you
- 27:27know, there ain't no punks in Long Beach.
- 27:29Everybody, everybody you did on. Well, you know, growing up,
- 27:32whether it's like whatever you do, whether he's playing
- 27:34basketball or playing football or if you're fighting or
- 27:36whatever, like you ain't supposed to raise no punks
- 27:38coming out of Long Beach And just, you know, LA in general.
- 27:41And then definitely faith has a big part to play in it because,
- 27:44you know, Psalm 144, the Lord prepares my hands for war.
- 27:48So if the Lord prepares my hands for war, then like, what am I to
- 27:50be worried about? You know if.
- 27:53Leads. Me besides meadows then, like
- 27:55what am I to be stressing over? You know, the one of the fruits
- 27:57of the Holy Spirit is the peace that surpasses all
- 28:00understanding. And so I'm confident and find
- 28:03peace in the fact of my hard work and the favorite that he
- 28:05has on my life. So I'll never go in and worry.
- 28:09Yeah, you you missing some sports?
- 28:11You play any other sports? No, I'm a big basketball fan.
- 28:15I ain't never really played no sports when I was in school and
- 28:17nothing like that. But I'm a basketball fan.
- 28:19I'll say Kyrie, my favorite guard of Kyrie happy to see him
- 28:23back tonight coming back on the ACLII need at least 25 for my
- 28:27boy. I need him to let people know
- 28:30his his he back and it's it's serious out in Dallas with him
- 28:33and Cooper flag so. You so you got a you got a team.
- 28:36Who you who you watching other than the play?
- 28:38You're a play. You're a fan of the game or a
- 28:40fan of the players. Which one?
- 28:42I'm more of a fan of the players nowadays, mainly because I
- 28:45really watch a sport like that. No more because, you know, with
- 28:47boxing still working the job, because you know, I ain't got no
- 28:51big promoter behind me right now.
- 28:52So it's like I'm still working the job and training between
- 28:55that. I'll be having time to watch
- 28:56sports like that girl. So I I just enjoy, I enjoy
- 29:01watching the game, honestly. What what about your music?
- 29:04What you got in your headphones when you when you're working?
- 29:08Out it depends you know somedays it's like some West Coast stuff
- 29:12like Mark Lux or AZ Chai or Kendrick or Jay Rock or
- 29:16Schoolboy Q. Sometimes it could be gospel
- 29:18like The Winans or something or Marvin Sapp or it could be old
- 29:23school like sometimes I play Stevie Wonder in the gym if that
- 29:26like when they give me the ox. It just depends on the day.
- 29:29Lately lately I've been bumping AZ Tykes new album a lot.
- 29:33Mark Williams got a new song called Bunk.
- 29:35I'll be playing that a lot. And Oh MO 3 is always in
- 29:40rotation and Rafael Sadiq lately has been played Rafael Saad,
- 29:46Indiana. He went.
- 29:47He took me back in Jericho days. Get involved even in like some
- 29:53of his songs with Lucy Pearl, like I've been, I don't know,
- 29:55I've been listening to that on the way to the gym.
- 29:58So I'll be, it's eclectic. It's all over the place.
- 30:00My music taste is all over the place.
- 30:02I love the man. Now I got a question for you and
- 30:05it's with all the women out there.
- 30:06Probably when you got you got the other half while you get in
- 30:09this in this world of boxing and you got your other half that you
- 30:11committed to and how's that working if you do have that when
- 30:14you training for a fight? No, not right now.
- 30:17I'm single right now, but. Heard the lady, heard the 1st.
- 30:20When I when. I he set you up for that one he
- 30:23set you up for. That one didn't let him.
- 30:26Set you up. But when I've dated in the past,
- 30:29like they're ready for fights, you know, it's just, it's just
- 30:32about conversations. And, you know, I was lucky
- 30:35enough to have partners that were very supportive, you know,
- 30:38I mean, who were supportive and you know, who were just asking
- 30:41how could they help me be ready to the best of their abilities?
- 30:44And you know, that's, that's the important thing.
- 30:46Like if you have a partnership who's willing to support you and
- 30:49back you, you know? Ain't nothing wrong with that.
- 30:52Help me that help me you. Know what I'm?
- 30:54Saying help me, help me out. Nothing.
- 30:56Wrong with the rib? What?
- 30:58Do you want to say about Coach Cam?
- 30:59Coach Cam, you know she's underrated as well over there.
- 31:02What? She what she say about her that
- 31:04coaches around, I know she is. She's definitely one of the most
- 31:09like slept on like as far as how hard she goes.
- 31:12She she helped me with my conditioning for my last fight.
- 31:15Bro, Oh my God. She had me doing these bike
- 31:18exercises and I was like laying out on the floor after.
- 31:21But like she's really intense. Like, you know, like people see
- 31:24the videos with the kids and her doing a mess with the children
- 31:27and you know, they think it's all cute and this sweet, but
- 31:30it's like when it's time for her to like be involved and really
- 31:33helping you get ready. Like she's invested.
- 31:36Like she's yelling and she's screaming and she's shouting.
- 31:39But it's not like, it's not like a bad yelling, screaming,
- 31:42shouting. It's like a she cares.
- 31:43She invested yelling, screaming, shouting, like, you know, I'm
- 31:47your grandma yelling that she from the sidelines, like
- 31:49watching you play a game, like I tell you what you need to do.
- 31:53And so she, she brings a lot of energy and she just, you know,
- 31:57she asks, she's always asking for like more like if she see me
- 32:01doing course, we're like, all right, all right, we'll do a
- 32:03hundred of these or whatever, you know what I'm saying?
- 32:05So she's definitely an extra push and just another set of
- 32:08hands. And you know, it's always, it's
- 32:11always good to just have someone like that.
- 32:14No, I love her mint worker Mint worker's a phenomenal.
- 32:18So I'm, I'm actually this question.
- 32:20I, I asked a lot of fighters, but I asked James, Tony this and
- 32:22James, of course, a bit support when you, it was on your
- 32:26mission, like you said, your dad had you all really out there
- 32:30focusing on other things. Like we said, we should give
- 32:32something to try. Now this is something you would
- 32:34ask your, your, your, your, your younger self when you were like
- 32:3810 years old. Did you ever see yourself when
- 32:41you had now at 10 years old? Because every kid is a dream.
- 32:45No, at 10 years old, I ain't seen myself here.
- 32:48At 10 years old I ain't seen myself boxing.
- 32:50But, you know, life works that way sometimes.
- 32:52You know, like what's an example?
- 32:57David And take David out the Bible.
- 32:59You know, David was a shepherd boy tending to his father's
- 33:03flocks when he was anointed to be a king.
- 33:05You know, he wasn't. He didn't.
- 33:07He didn't. I'm sure he didn't go from those
- 33:08flocks, leave those flocks to think he was about to be a king.
- 33:12And I'm sure he didn't expect the journey that came with it to
- 33:15being an exile, coming back to the Kingdom, all that stuff.
- 33:18And so sometimes life just takes you on turns, twists and turns
- 33:22like that, and you know, you just got to ride it out.
- 33:24I'll say that even though this isn't where I expected to be, I
- 33:28wouldn't be anywhere else. I would rather be anywhere else.
- 33:31I really love boxing and I'm happy I found my way to it.
- 33:35Before I let you go, man, what do you want to say to the fans
- 33:39coming out? We want to say to the fans is
- 33:40coming out on the Sunday. I'm working my tail off to put
- 33:45on the best show possible for you.
- 33:48I'm sparring multiple part, multiple sparring opponents at a
- 33:52time. I'm running the miles, I'm
- 33:54hitting the bag, I'm doing the drills.
- 33:56I am doing everything to tighten every hole in my game up.
- 33:59And so come out November 7th, come see a phenomenal show.

- 34:06that's what the goal is. That's what the aim is.

- 34:11and getting a ticket from me personally, if it's you going to

- 34:17You don't want to miss out. You don't want to be the person
- 34:19who was like, Dang, it looked like it was cracking in there
- 34:22and I missed it. You don't want to be the person
- 34:24because I've had people tell me that about my last flight.
- 34:27I had people coming up to me like, man, I got something.
- 34:29I'm supposed to be out of town November 7th, but so last fight
- 34:32looked like it was cracking. I'm trying to see if I can make
- 34:34it like, you don't want to be that person.
- 34:36It's going to be cracking. So you might as well be there.
- 34:40You might as well. November 7th, Zach Davis

- 36:29class. Maybe over time.
- 36:31You got room. You got room to grow.
- 36:34Maybe go up a couple divisions, 140 like 6-7 divisions we're.

- 36:48got room. But I love you your your faith,
- 36:51man. I love it and it's very rare
- 36:53because you know, being Ferran talk about this, this Bible, we
- 36:56keep being mentors of young men like yourself.
- 36:59And then I have my sons and they wouldn't athletic, but I was an
- 37:02athletic guy myself in the baseball era world and I got I
- 37:06got a chance to taste some of that real dirt in baseball and
- 37:09Jeff was was a phenomenal sports agent.
- 37:11So This is why we know Jeff is primed for this did not fail and
- 37:16it's not going to fail because we got God working on things.

- 37:29So it's going to be we. Thank you for coming on board #7
- 37:32Once again, no safecorner.com tickets on sale now.
- 37:36You better get them, you heard? You know what, I got one more
- 37:39quick. This is a military network,
- 37:40right? So we broadcast.
- 37:41So a lot of veterans are watching you from globally.
- 37:45Your mindset do you do you when you put them their gloves on?
- 37:48When, when does the when does your mind click over to the
- 37:51boxer? Well, that identity.
- 37:52When does that click over? Do you notice when I'm driving
- 37:57to the venue? Honestly.
- 37:59And so like when I'm driving to the venue, like things start to
- 38:02get more serious, but it's still kind of like loose and it's
- 38:04still kind of fun. Like I'm still like listening to
- 38:06my music and bumping my head or whatever.
- 38:08And then, you know, stretching out, you kind of just talking to
- 38:10other fighters or in the locker room, which or whatever.
- 38:12But then once I get my hands wrapped, that's like when it's
- 38:15all the way serious. That's when it's all the way
- 38:17serious. That's like when it's no more
- 38:19laughing. Once the hands is wrapped, it's
- 38:20time to warm. It's something one month.
- 38:22It's time to start shadowboxing, time to put them gloves on.
- 38:25And then once you like, once you start doing miss in the back and
- 38:27you hear that the first couple. And you hear the first couple
- 38:31times you. Hit the miss.
- 38:32It's like all right, like now we really got to go because you
- 38:35know, like it ain't like a vet, like any veteran will know like
- 38:38when you go to war, like you ain't there to play with nobody.
- 38:40Like they trying to take you out and you trying to take them out.
- 38:43It's really you. It's it's not you know, it's not
- 38:47like other sports, like other sports, like we playing the
- 38:49game. You know what I'm saying?
- 38:50Save certain sports, boxing, MMA, football, like they like
- 38:55you playing baseball, you taking back playing basketball, you
- 38:58playing tennis, you know, you playing these other sports like
- 39:01you play the game. You go home, you play bad, you
- 39:05play bad in another sport, you get put on the bench and boxing
- 39:09is like no, like it's you and it's only you.
- 39:11So once you in there bro, it's you or it's him and ain't nobody
- 39:14here to sub you out if you have somebody like.
- 39:20No 22nd timeout you don't get no 22nd timeout. 22nd timeout. 22nd
- 39:25timeout. No, nobody's rhythm or momentum.
- 39:28If you're going to break that rhythm or their momentum, you
- 39:31have to do it without you. Buy something there.
- 39:33So you. Got to do.
- 39:34It definitely. But yeah, to answer your
- 39:36question directly, them hand wraps come on and when my hands
- 39:39are fully wrapped, they're like it ain't nothing more, it ain't
- 39:41no more nothing else to smile about that's.
- 39:44What I said, man, I appreciate you, man.
- 39:46If, Victor, you have any more questions, I'm going to let them
- 39:48get out of here. Man no, are we good, man.
- 39:49Thank you and once again, thank you on behalf of Jeff David
- 39:53promotions man and thank you myself and and and the cast
- 39:56included putting this show together.
- 39:57They're working tirelessly. They're working hard over there
- 40:00getting that thing ready for November 7th and you just keep
- 40:03on punching, man. Keep going first, like I said,
- 40:05and make it happen. Thank you, ladies and gentlemen.
- 40:07Aaron Whitehurst, the the second we're going to say junior with
- 40:11the second you. Know. 3 and 1, you know what I
- 40:15mean? Take it easy, Aaron.

- 42:35All right, welcome back to the Frondos, a show on the military
- 42:38broadcast real network. MB Radio dot US If you want to
- 42:42support us, you know, make sure you hit that QR code up there
- 42:45and they provide all of the services for us here at the
- 42:48station Where there it goes. Yeah, they provide all the
- 42:51services for us here at the station.
- 42:53So we appreciate you. If you want to thank us for our
- 42:55service, we got representatives of all branches here, first
- 42:58responders, their their family members finding their voice,
- 43:01sharing their voice around what it is to be a veteran.
- 43:05As you heard Aaron talk about it from the athletic perspective,
- 43:09we're not different. If you look at the mindset of an
- 43:11athlete and I have mindset of a, of a soldier or veteran service
- 43:15member, there's a point in time where our brain clicks over and
- 43:19when that brain clicks over, it is no holds back bars and, and,
- 43:23and for some of us, we, we learn how to turn it on.
- 43:27But the transition is how do we turn that off, right?
- 43:31That's why I didn't get a chance to ask him.
- 43:32But you know, for some people that identity crisis is strong
- 43:35when it comes to the mindset. And I know Big Dre, you, you
- 43:38serve too, man. So you.
- 43:40Know. Yeah, man, that, that, that
- 43:41sports mindset, that military mindset, man, mental health,
- 43:46real life. Boot can't get injured.
- 43:49Give me all all kind of things was interesting.
- 43:51You know, my my lifetime with me being didn't get a chance to do
- 43:56the things I wanted to because the injuries I have for you
- 43:58know, but let me tell you something.
- 44:00The mindset that, that, that God gives us when it comes down to
- 44:04to being in the service, being out in the world, being any kind
- 44:07of first responder. The mental aspect of it is
- 44:11fighters, man. You guys go through phenomenal
- 44:14brain injury. We're getting hit with 88 oz
- 44:16gloves, all that blunt force and they they come out being that
- 44:20person. That's different.
- 44:22Sometimes at the I've played a good 12 round battle when a
- 44:25person comes out of a out of a 12 round battle of boxing, they
- 44:29mind that they'd be man, they trim man.
- 44:32I can't even imagine. I mean, and my my son thought he
- 44:36was a man. Well, he can't bend it and he
- 44:38said James said what sucker is going to come in to James tumble
- 44:41always sucking the kids getting the ring with anybody call my
- 44:43$1000 getting the ring man. He had people getting that ring
- 44:45man and he said he said he have no headset on and and the head
- 44:49girl he they swinging and missing and the more you swing,
- 44:51the more energy comes out. If you don't understand that you
- 44:54swinging, you're missing that energy and hit him with one
- 44:56little flash kidney shot, living shot.
- 44:59You haven't had my son doing that that the dance that that he
- 45:02did it that he's a chicken dance boy.
- 45:03Did you know? You know, you know, you're a
- 45:05gentle, you know, cover soon he fought against our boy on New
- 45:08York. God with Sabzuda, that chicken
- 45:11dance boy. I said, man, you just don't
- 45:13know. But like like like Aaron said,
- 45:15you don't know what 11 punching the whole demographic like in
- 45:21the military, you and that foxhole and you and people
- 45:23throwing grenades you like and people understand.
- 45:25It's not no gaming you and you serving ain't no gaming out
- 45:29there fighting fires and no gaming your pair mates going to
- 45:31A to a thing. No one knows.
- 45:33You know, you know it's my give me happy birthday look like my
- 45:36my other half. Happy birthday.
- 45:38Thank you, baby. I love you.
- 45:40I love you, babe. Who was going?
- 45:41To put to my Dre. I know, but the other half?
- 45:45Thank you baby. You get a nail done she's going
- 45:47to nail done be out of here. Thank you.
- 45:50Yeah thank you, thank you. But it's it's like you know I
- 45:53figured from what what you going through with sickle cell.
- 45:57The sickle cell is in part members of my family back in
- 46:00Mississippi. I'm sorry to pray and I thank
- 46:03God Unfortunately I didn't get it, but we did we my my other
- 46:06half were talking about the genetic part of of of you know,
- 46:11growing up with certain things just because somebody had heart
- 46:13disease and the fat don't they send me smiles will get heart
- 46:15disease down a generation of her hereditary stuff.
- 46:18So I tell people that's the same thing as any kind of support you
- 46:21then with look at your daddy box don't mean you're going to be a
- 46:24boxer. Oh, your Mama was a nurse.
- 46:26You won't you won't be a nurse, but you you're following
- 46:28servicemen. You want people think you got to
- 46:30file, you're going to file an order sickle cell ain't got no
- 46:33no face to it, ain't got no it ain't got no race to it and
- 46:36nothing heart disease liver no, no race to it is this is it?
- 46:41Is it something that happens Sometimes people actually say
- 46:44well, God, why me? Sometimes God may put someone to
- 46:47make you a strong individual to go out and help other people.
- 46:50Man put it all about. To to draw us back to him and
- 46:53then affliction to him, trying to understand the afflictions.
- 46:56No one. Is speaking exactly so if you
- 47:00what you're dealing with being a great father to your daughter,
- 47:02which I've met your daughters there.
- 47:03They probably love me Queens, but being a the single dad of it
- 47:07and then doing what you're dealing with.
- 47:09Then we have a friend who do a wrapping up that that disorder
- 47:11and your body just sits down. I had a friend four days ago I
- 47:15was on the pickleball tournament and she had those symptoms and
- 47:17she ended up man, she said it's the worst feeling she had in her
- 47:21body. It was like she just drive and
- 47:24she died. She started so you had to get.
- 47:26I said I can't, I can't if I can't pronounce it, I'm not
- 47:29going to tear it up. But I gave him the nickname.
- 47:31I called the Raptor, Raptor father, but I called it but it
- 47:35wrapped around your body. But that's but that's why I
- 47:38appreciate, you know, you know, for me now sport, I'm kind of
- 47:41like Aaron, you know, I don't really watch sports.
- 47:43I'm more of are more of the mindset and the mental toughness
- 47:46and all that, you know, part of the game, right, the health and
- 47:50safety aspect of it. And again, even with these
- 47:52boxers, if they don't understand, you know,
- 47:55dehydration and how you push your body, you got to listen to
- 47:57your body. Even though you want to, you
- 47:58know, play the sport and, and do these activities, you still have
- 48:02to be able to pay attention to your body because it will tell
- 48:05you if there's something going on, right?
- 48:06And a lot of. People to cutting weight that's
- 48:10most. Important.
- 48:12People understand you getting there.
- 48:14You have 147 and you got two weeks left to get down to one.
- 48:17No, no, do a cut weight. Cut weight is in between
- 48:19weights, so sometimes you probably go in like an idiot and
- 48:22do a cut weight. The only people who cut weight
- 48:24is people desperate for money because you go in there and it's
- 48:27at 1:47, you start going in at 1:44.
- 48:30It's the most dangerous concept of time to cut weight.
- 48:33Cutting weight if you don't know how to do it the proper way.
- 48:36Everybody said coach can't help them condition and teach you how
- 48:39to dehydrate yourself because you can't rap the Raptors
- 48:41waiting for that body to say, OK, I'm going to shut down this
- 48:43area right here. And you think you're feeling
- 48:46good in the in the in the final 12th round, all of a sudden you
- 48:49get to have having trouble breathing.
- 48:51And sometimes you got you got to dig, you got to dig, you got to
- 48:54dig. You got 2 more minutes.
- 48:55Fatigue kicks in. Try to figure out I got I got a
- 48:58minute and a half get to win this file.
- 49:00I'm I'm down by a point. I got to knock up down.
- 49:02I heard him enough. Put them in judges the seat and
- 49:04people understand when your mindset shuts down to the point
- 49:06that I cannot do this anymore and the great God kicks in.
- 49:10So I I love the fact that you make an awareness to people
- 49:12understand and the folks out there who deal with this right
- 49:15now. If you have problems, go see a
- 49:16doctor. Don't be a superstar.
- 49:18Yes, we were. We were.
- 49:20We were trained not to go to sick call, unfortunately.
- 49:22So veterans, brothers and sisters, yeah, even though we're
- 49:25trained, you know, not to go to sick call, but you've got to be
- 49:28able to take care of yourself. You've got to get those
- 49:30documentations. If there's something you hurt
- 49:31yourself, sprain your ankle or anything, you make sure you go
- 49:35get some documentation because you're going to need that when
- 49:37that career comes to an end. And now you got to find for your
- 49:40benefits. And then you got no
- 49:41documentation. You got to get a letter and all
- 49:44kind of stuff to try to prove your case.
- 49:45You know, you got to be able to take the same way you dedicate
- 49:49your time to that our country, take that some time for
- 49:52yourself. So I appreciate you for me.
- 49:54That said, the health and safety most important for me, you know,
- 49:58for people to understand that. So I.
- 49:59Appreciate every day man and and our sister coming on next we're
- 50:02going to yeah we'll put prayers on her man and and let her know
- 50:05and then angels got. Angels touched me.
- 50:07Bring her. Let me bring her up to the deck.
- 50:09What's up, lady? Hey guys for.
- 50:12Real. What's happening?
- 50:13All right. You doing?
- 50:13How you feeling, love? I'm doing.
- 50:16I'm doing this nothing like it. Yes, I'm going to be praying for
- 50:20you and you're going to be my prayers tonight, my prayer time
- 50:23of night at 7:30 tonight we praying for you.
- 50:26Yes, yes, my name is DeAndre Adams.
- 50:29I'm a dear friend of Mr. Farron Dozer and I have a people in my
- 50:33family have the sicker cell trait and and we have our
- 50:37families known for having different animals in their
- 50:42lifestyle. But under the grace of God,
- 50:43thank God, I had the asthma. I still have it, the asthma, I
- 50:47still have it. But you know, it's like I look
- 50:49at it and God saying he puts enough special in me and I
- 50:52caught that that the C word back in in 94 in in the in the in the
- 50:57throat area right here when I was throwing the MRA, you know,
- 51:01some groundwork in my nikito, but I could hit with a flash.
- 51:04No BAM, and I had this little lump kid in my throat.
- 51:07I said, man, what is going on, man?
- 51:09So I go see my doc. He said they found out a polyp
- 51:12the size of a dime that was stuck on my lyrics and they had
- 51:15to do surgery remove it and they they found out it was a, a a a
- 51:19tumor almost lasted to kind of get it all out.
- 51:21But the doctor said your your voice would not be the same
- 51:24anymore. You'd be a raspy like and the
- 51:27earthquake and no fridge earthquake.
- 51:30When the earthquake hit, I screamed, said earthquake.
- 51:32What's that? My girl, a girl time day.
- 51:34She said, babe. I said what, girl?
- 51:37I said you talking? Just shut up.
- 51:38I ain't talking. I ain't saying what you talking
- 51:42about. Just duck and stuff moving
- 51:43around. You know what?
- 51:44I. Mean the earthquake was the
- 51:45earthquake brought your voice back.
- 51:47Brought it back, God said God said, I'm not done with your
- 51:50son, come back. And that was I haven't stopped
- 51:53talking since. The heck with that.
- 51:56So I thank God, man, I thank God for but pleasure meeting you.
- 51:59Tell us the story, baby. Tell us the story.
- 52:02Yeah, thanks, big Drake man. All right, lady.
- 52:06So what do you what do you want to update this the community on
- 52:09this on this episode? Well, I was racking my brain as
- 52:13to what I wanted to discuss today.
- 52:15So the topic that I ended up thinking about was just the best
- 52:21treatment of acting American women in healthcare.
- 52:26Just being in the hospital myself is just something that
- 52:32comes up from time to time, you know, just being at the hospital
- 52:35and just having to not have the people understand that
- 52:40seriousness is our pain is an issue, is always an issue.
- 52:45But the more people that I talk to, like my friends, my sister,
- 52:48my cousins, I'm just hearing back, you know, that
- 52:53unfortunately we are treated very differently than our
- 52:56counterparts in the healthcare system.
- 53:00Statistically, the numbers just show like that.
- 53:06African American women face severe healthcare disparities,
- 53:09including maternal morality rates that are three to four
- 53:13times higher than those of Caucasian women. 21% of women
- 53:18report untrue treatment by healthcare providers due to
- 53:21their race. Vigilant behavior. 61% of black
- 53:26women take practice Sir, take proactive measures to try to
- 53:33prepare for their appointment because of the discrimination.
- 53:37Yeah. And then just the impact on the
- 53:40care while you're in the hospital, the care, the changes,
- 53:44it's just not as urgent sometimes as it is for our
- 53:48counterparts. What do you, what do you, what
- 53:51do you in a, in a, in a more perfect world from your
- 53:56perspective and your, you know, I mean, you born with sickle
- 53:59cell that transition from pediatric to adult care.
- 54:02I know we're going to plan on doing some segments on that
- 54:04because it's a whole different transition from being a child
- 54:07teenager to that adult care. We, we, we know that there's a
- 54:11different experience. It's proof of proof of that.
- 54:14But in in this conversation of your experience as a, as a young
- 54:19black woman and you've got statistics on what you know, the
- 54:22numbers say, but for you personally, do you in your
- 54:27percentages, do you think that you've had, you know, out of out
- 54:32of 20 visits are are they are, is it 10 and 10 you've had
- 54:35you've been treated 10 times, you've been treated good and the
- 54:37other ten you haven't been treated well?
- 54:39Or is it like how would you measure your personal experience
- 54:43in in that case of the treatment of your experience?
- 54:47Personally, when I first came to California, the biggest issue
- 54:52that I faced was them assuming that I was on some form of a
- 54:56straight drug because I required so much medication.
- 54:59Right. So they assumed that because I
- 55:02required a higher dose of medication that I had to be
- 55:04taking something else, which is unfortunate because they have my
- 55:09blood, you know, they could test my blood at any time and see all
- 55:12that I had in my system was what they gave.
- 55:15Right, that's that's check. That's check one right there.
- 55:18Right, that's check one. Do the blood work If you think
- 55:20I'm seeking drugs, I like that. I like that Check test my blood
- 55:25then if you want to find any narcotic.
- 55:26OK, what else? So the other issue we just I
- 55:32I've been told so many things from you have a black disease
- 55:35should go to black college that I'm sickly, so therefore I
- 55:41shouldn't try to do too many different things and just stick
- 55:44to what I know. So I've just heard so many
- 55:49negative things that I try to just take it all in stride and
- 55:52do what I know, what I know I'm able to do to strive and keep
- 55:57going and growing your back happen.
- 56:00But as far as like finding good healthcare providers, that
- 56:06sometimes is a task because when you go from place to place,
- 56:09sometimes like for me, it's for instance, for me, my insurance
- 56:14changed so I can no longer go to the same facility I'm going to.
- 56:18And then because of that happening, the time just got
- 56:22closer and closer, and I ended up being crises and I didn't
- 56:25have a place to go, so I had to rush to New York.
- 56:28So now it seems like you're also from Hospital Hospital, even
- 56:32though that wasn't your plan. Right, right.
- 56:34But they view it as such because they're like, oh, you were at
- 56:37this hospital 2 weeks ago and last month you were over here.
- 56:40And then just four months later you're over here.
- 56:43And it's like, well, I was planning to jump behind, but I
- 56:48just have to go where they take my shirts.
- 56:50Right, right. And, and, and so I know for our,
- 56:55I don't say I know, but for our community, you know, I, I
- 56:59question wonder and, and, and wonder sometimes the ability to
- 57:06have the courage to find another doctor, right?
- 57:09So sometimes we got to be proactive too, right?
- 57:12I don't, I don't know if people think about that.
- 57:13If you're not happy with your doctor, your provider, you have
- 57:16the right to call him up, look in that book or whatever and be
- 57:20like, Hey, you know what? I need to find somebody else
- 57:23that can take care of me. So what about that part of it?
- 57:27There's do you think there's a level of lack of confidence or
- 57:31lack of whatever? What do you think that is that
- 57:33why our community? Well, I.
- 57:36Could speak. I could speak from it, from both
- 57:39aspects, because I've been a mentee to other singers and I've
- 57:44worked with the pharmaceutical companies and some doctors
- 57:47before. I had both sides of it.
- 57:49So from the doctor's point and those who do like the research
- 57:53studies, the clinical studies, there's not enough African
- 57:56Americans who are willing to give their information out.
- 57:59To participate in studies. Right.
- 58:02And then as far as the doctors go, the doctors are just like,
- 58:05well, the patient doesn't come consistently enough for me to
- 58:08give them these resources to continue to get better care.
- 58:13Wow. So there's, so there's
- 58:16definitely a perception of the and I, and I, I mean, like I
- 58:18said, I've only been in this community for 16 years and, and
- 58:22developed my own experiences. But there is a part of that big
- 58:26Dre that it seems like there's a disconnection and, and, and not
- 58:32just in the care, but in our experience.
- 58:34And I don't know if we will talk about the experience.
- 58:37Of what it is. Like you said, we all have end
- 58:40up having some kind of medical concern that we have to deal
- 58:42with. We all have something that we
- 58:44got to go to the doctor for. But what is that internal
- 58:49dialogue? I believe it's that internal
- 58:52dialogue that also is a is a hindrance of how can we show up
- 58:57to the hospital like it's the first time, right?
- 59:00Well. I see my my my.
- 59:03In the past and the and put the take the past out of the future
- 59:07and put it in the past like it takes some mental level of a
- 59:10level of mental. Toughness to show up like that,
- 59:12right? Well, here's the the concept.
- 59:15I looked at it through a politics point of view and I'm,
- 59:18I'm a political man. I'm, I'm thinking about running
- 59:20for City Council. Why is it no, why is people not
- 59:24advocating enough when it comes down to secret cell near getting
- 59:28into in front of the Senate House and then people hear the
- 59:31concept. I don't see enough movement in
- 59:33groups that say, hey, I know out of every senator that sits on
- 59:37that seat in in, in in the White House, in Congress, someone have
- 59:41a trait somewhere in their family that they're concerned
- 59:43about. And no one, no one never brings
- 59:45it up. We're talking about everything
- 59:47else. And I don't like cancer because
- 59:48I'm a former cancer victim. But we have October cancer
- 59:51month. We have domestic violence,
- 59:53barely talks about that on on the same entire month.
- 59:55You put all the different the different ailments in a special
- 59:59month, but I'll never see sickle cell month.
- 1:00:02Yeah, no single September. September.
- 1:00:04No, it's September. OK, but but like I say, I didn't
- 1:00:07even hear about I didn't know it was in September and we just
- 1:00:09passed when we talked about it. So why, why ain't someone went
- 1:00:12to, to to their local senators, Councilman and, and say, hey,
- 1:00:17this is something we brought up more and better care and more
- 1:00:20better medicines to see that that they may have a, a medicine
- 1:00:24that they're experimenting with. It might work more on sick and
- 1:00:26cell patients, But no one talks about that.
- 1:00:28We talk about everything else but dropping a 2000 LB bomb on
- 1:00:33somebody and talk about something that's going to save
- 1:00:35more lives. But I think this is A to me, I
- 1:00:38think this is a, a, a thing. They're saying what we're trying
- 1:00:41to eliminate some of the the heads in this world over 8
- 1:00:44billion people. That's what I think if we let
- 1:00:46this this rich race die in office, OK, that race die.
- 1:00:50Oh, we can't miss that race because now it's messed with my
- 1:00:52pocketbook. Now these pharmacies are big
- 1:00:54pharma and no one's watching big pharma.
- 1:00:56So you put somebody in charge of big pharma, a lot of these
- 1:00:59problems go away. You say, OK, well, you, you made
- 1:01:02how much on this are derma and and RC the new weight loss team,
- 1:01:06how much money we lost a quarter.
- 1:01:08Oh my God, then your son got to have any weight problems trying
- 1:01:11to get your son or you put the heck out of him.
- 1:01:13Then you know, you put if you're a senator.
- 1:01:15So I figured the main person who could be like a Jasmine Crocker,
- 1:01:20who probably would have pushed this more, but see we pushed her
- 1:01:22out of our seat. So when you're a senator in your
- 1:01:25state, no one ever went to the senators, these councilmen,
- 1:01:29councilwomen. But Dre, but Dre, but they, but,
- 1:01:31but they're every year 365 where people are advocating.
- 1:01:37I mean, but here's, here's the here's the thing, though, 2 two
- 1:01:40things that from my experience being a part of the community.
- 1:01:43One, some doctors say, well, it's only 100,000 people.
- 1:01:47So it's not a lot of people, right?
- 1:01:49So then you look at it when you look at it from so if, if you,
- 1:01:53if their perception is it's only 100,000 people and then you got
- 1:01:57to go back to well, if, if we let sickle cell conversation in
- 1:02:00here, then what about everybody else is going to bombard us with
- 1:02:03all. Of their problems, all the other
- 1:02:06yeah. Bringing polio back and then
- 1:02:07your family, yeah. Advocating for all these.
- 1:02:09Other conditions, another reason why it's seen as not as
- 1:02:14important because it's only really effects Middle Eastern,
- 1:02:19African American, Latino is the already minority groups.
- 1:02:25So it's not seen as a big issue. Even though it affects agents,
- 1:02:28it affects Caucasians, it affects the Latino community, it
- 1:02:32affects the Asian community, it affects some Caucasians even,
- 1:02:36but it's not that big of a wide, so they don't take it seriously.
- 1:02:41Right. So, so 8 billion people in the
- 1:02:43world and they they trying to claim that only half percent of
- 1:02:46people in the world have 6 Zil trade.
- 1:02:48That's what you're trying to say and they have no doctors coming
- 1:02:52forth and saying, well, now you say, oh, you take the, the visor
- 1:02:55and you take all these shots When you, the doctor's doctor,
- 1:02:57you take all these shots during COVID.
- 1:02:59Now suddenly get these he later he's getting a heart attack.
- 1:03:01Oh, he died because of he took the vaccine back in, in
- 1:03:0420/20/21. I took the I haven't had no
- 1:03:07health issues, but docs, I'm in great shape.
- 1:03:10So somebody somewhere lying somewhere.
- 1:03:14Stigmatism, especially in the black community, is because of
- 1:03:18there were things like this. To take the Tasiki experiment.
- 1:03:24So they think of everything as a negative because of the fact
- 1:03:27that before it wasn't negative, they were experimenting on us.
- 1:03:30They didn't really know what was going on.
- 1:03:32They just made assumptions as to what was going on to a specific
- 1:03:36group of people. And because of it, unfortunately
- 1:03:40we live in this world of well, I don't want to do it because such
- 1:03:43and such like this or I don't want to partake because now they
- 1:03:46have too much my information. And unfortunately, as a result
- 1:03:49of it, it doesn't get the line like that it deserves because.
- 1:03:53Of that but didn't Teddy Roosevelt when did he have polio
- 1:03:58and while he was going to he was doing World War in World War 2
- 1:04:02started with Japanese didn't he have polio and while he couldn't
- 1:04:05walk here at the now when he had polio and our president was
- 1:04:11rocking this right here and it wasn't done back in 1940s Can
- 1:04:14you imagine right now how it is now you know and what let let
- 1:04:18let the orange man get a sickle cell tray and she would have it
- 1:04:21I bet you'd be all kind of laws but you're taking you know what
- 1:04:24I mean. But here, here here's and so you
- 1:04:27know, it's for me and my advocacy work, especially around
- 1:04:32spiritual conversation, the mental conversation, right?
- 1:04:37We've got to be able to not leave it to the system for us to
- 1:04:40heal, right? Because if we can again, I'm
- 1:04:43saying that's why I asked her if you got 10, if you got 20 visits
- 1:04:48in a year and and and 10 are 10 are good visits and ten were
- 1:04:53not. So you know, good, you still got
- 1:04:56the 10 good ones right. And then and then we also talk
- 1:05:00about then with those 10 that wasn't so well.
- 1:05:03Did you report it? Did you file paperwork?
- 1:05:05Did you did you get some documentation?
- 1:05:07Did you bring? That up to your doctor.
- 1:05:09A comment was made in one of the communities that I follow on
- 1:05:13Facebook, and they were just saying that they were fairly
- 1:05:17unfairly mistreated. They've been in the hospital.
- 1:05:20They were asked to be, they were going to get them discharged,
- 1:05:24they were going to get discharged and they weren't
- 1:05:26physically ready to be discharged.
- 1:05:28She was still in pain and she was complaining about the pain.
- 1:05:31So my suggestion to her was make sure she wrote down all the
- 1:05:34names of the nurses, the doctors, they had people in
- 1:05:37charge and write a letter. Because I feel like once you
- 1:05:40follow up, they will take your cause seriously and try to
- 1:05:44address it. They might not address it
- 1:05:46immediately in that moment, but they will take the time to
- 1:05:49address. And that way by doing that,
- 1:05:52you're setting a standard saying, hey, look, this is what
- 1:05:54I didn't appreciate about my admission.
- 1:05:56This is what I would like to change.
- 1:05:58If we don't advocate for ourselves, no one's going.
- 1:06:00No one else is going to. So you have to be a big
- 1:06:03proponent for yourself and for your health.
- 1:06:06But I definitely believe that every instance that happens, you
- 1:06:10have to write it down, because if you don't and you just let it
- 1:06:13slide, it's going to continue to happen.
- 1:06:16Yeah, so my, I, my idea I have I'm thinking about going back to
- 1:06:19my, my representative. You know, I'm not from LA
- 1:06:21anymore. I'm out in Santa Clara with my,
- 1:06:23my new other half, better half. I'm thinking about going through
- 1:06:27the City Councilman saying once I have testing to have a big,
- 1:06:30these big buses coming that people be tested for that.
- 1:06:33And maybe you start seeing some more movement happen because you
- 1:06:35don't see enough testing. Buses come out and say, hey,
- 1:06:39test to see if you have a sick cell trait.
- 1:06:41You never know, but your unborn child will be at risk.
- 1:06:43That's when we're not, we're not pushing enough of that.
- 1:06:46We pushed up with that that issue.
- 1:06:48We probably get the the the railroad or start being built
- 1:06:52better and then start putting better trains on the railroad to
- 1:06:55get it out there. We, we, we as a, as a trade
- 1:06:57advocate, I mean, that's one of the things that I've, I've done.
- 1:07:00But again, as you mentioned, the funding like there's the the
- 1:07:04sickle cell trust test ain't free.
- 1:07:06Exactly. So it's not free and if you have
- 1:07:09insurance then you can actually go and ask your your doctor to
- 1:07:12get the test done. So, but at the same time, and
- 1:07:17I'll add even Red Cross has stepped in to do sickle cell
- 1:07:20trade testing during blood drives, but it's still not the
- 1:07:23electrophoresis, it's the it's the cartridge that I'll tell you
- 1:07:28if you're a S trade carrier. But how long they've been doing
- 1:07:31it? How long?
- 1:07:31How long Red Cross been starting?
- 1:07:33To do only only a couple of years.
- 1:07:35Yeah, only a couple. Exactly.
- 1:07:37How long have you been around? They've been 5 million years.
- 1:07:39I mean they never started doing no testing all these years.
- 1:07:45That's what I'm saying, but that's what I'm saying some of.
- 1:07:46The stuff we can't. Go ahead, go ahead.
- 1:07:49No, I was just going to say further that conversation
- 1:07:54specifically, I'm in the hospital this time because of
- 1:07:56the fact that they were unable to find a blood match for me.
- 1:08:01They tried to test my blood 12 times.
- 1:08:04They tried it so much so that one hospital was unable to get
- 1:08:08it. They had to transfer me out to
- 1:08:09another hospital because of the lack of blood.
- 1:08:13So that is a big issue in our community as it is already.
- 1:08:17And then on top of the compounded with that is the fact
- 1:08:21that once you start getting the blood transfusion, which we
- 1:08:23discussed earlier, right, about the fact that you not have to
- 1:08:27worry about antibodies in your blood.
- 1:08:29Once you get these antibodies after a certain amount, it's
- 1:08:32even, it's almost impossible to find a exact match, right?
- 1:08:37Wow. So, yeah, so I can go well, I
- 1:08:42think it should be mandatory now.
- 1:08:43I mean, some of the athletes may get mad at your sentence because
- 1:08:46a lot of athletes that are having a trade on the North.
- 1:08:49I think it should be mandatory for the NFL to have the sickle
- 1:08:51cell trade blood tests when they get these tests, basketball,
- 1:08:54baseball, soccer, all of them should be have to be mandatory
- 1:08:57if they take these tests because a lot of you guys be on this
- 1:08:59field. They drop dead from Raptor on it
- 1:09:01from the. College does, but our our level,
- 1:09:05we're trying to get it to before college.
- 1:09:07I mean, if a family doesn't unaware and then and that
- 1:09:10child's played football since 8-9 years old and he gets to
- 1:09:13high school and and and then. Collapses.
- 1:09:15Collapses in high school, the tested, they're not being
- 1:09:18mandatory tested till college. There's still, there's still a
- 1:09:22gap in between there. So there have been things that,
- 1:09:24I mean, the needle has moved tremendously the last 16 years,
- 1:09:28but there's still a lot of gaps. We can't leave it to the system
- 1:09:34to take care of. Exactly.
- 1:09:39Right. Yeah.
- 1:09:41If you leave it to the system, then who knows what's going to
- 1:09:45how it's going to play out. So us as a community, you have
- 1:09:47to come together and and and help our help our own community
- 1:09:51heal first. I refer it back to Moses and the
- 1:09:57Israelites when they left Egypt, they walked that 40 years
- 1:10:01because their hearts was still in Egypt.
- 1:10:03They was complaining, they was upset, they was frustrated.
- 1:10:06How could you go to a new land with all that stuff in the in
- 1:10:09your mind? That's baggage, God.
- 1:10:11Was not. He could not, he could not have
- 1:10:13them go to that new land without that baggage.
- 1:10:15So we still carry a lot of it's a it's a human being flaw.
- 1:10:21We all tell the truth. We got the passes in the future.
- 1:10:24So I don't want that to happen to me.
- 1:10:26But we have like she's in the hospital.
- 1:10:28We have people in our community that won't go to the hospital
- 1:10:31because of the last that they the last five visits or, or or
- 1:10:37out of 20 visits, they got 4 bad ones and that's all.
- 1:10:40They remember the four bad ones but not the 16 good ones.
- 1:10:42Dre, how do you forget the 16 good ones but you only remember
- 1:10:46the four bad ones situations? Where they're afraid to go
- 1:10:52because they're afraid to hear what the bad part might be.
- 1:10:56Because there are, and I know some family members and friends
- 1:10:59who are just like, I'd rather not go because I don't want to
- 1:11:02hear that I have cancer. I don't want to know that I have
- 1:11:06pulmonary issues or heart issues.
- 1:11:08I don't want to know about it. And that to me, I don't
- 1:11:11understand that concept. But there are people who are
- 1:11:14like that. So it need be more.
- 1:11:16Depends on. How you grew up.
- 1:11:19I think it need to be more fundraising for sickle cells.
- 1:11:22There should be more more more shows for that.
- 1:11:25Like you have a Jerry Lewis telephone how that went for all
- 1:11:28these years and Jerry Lewis died and still did it for the what?
- 1:11:31Another four or five and it did it disappeared.
- 1:11:34No more Jerry tell the time I went bye bye.
- 1:11:36So I figured they got enough money, enough money for $700
- 1:11:41million. If I keep saying I'm like this,
- 1:11:44if I keep saying one more show about somebody range of money
- 1:11:49for, for, you know, for the dogs and animals like a family.
- 1:11:54But they, they raise more money for the animals and they do it
- 1:11:57for human beings to come down to see some of the biggest things
- 1:12:00to wipe them all. You give $1.00 a day and you,
- 1:12:04you know man, come on now. I prefer animals to.
- 1:12:11Humans so right, can't speak on that one because.
- 1:12:14You know, Yeah. You know what I mean?
- 1:12:16Yeah. I want Peter to be throwing red
- 1:12:17on me. I'm going to throw some black
- 1:12:19paint on you. You're.
- 1:12:19Going to be hanging, not going. To be doing that stuff to me.
- 1:12:23But I think I can still that we don't take, we don't take the
- 1:12:27sickle cell community for real. It's like we making you making
- 1:12:32up a disease that you want to call a disease what you want to
- 1:12:35call you making it up or something where it can't be
- 1:12:37possible. But now your kids walk around
- 1:12:39here always. You can't.
- 1:12:40You can't. See her sickle so you can't see
- 1:12:43my sickle so. Exactly.
- 1:12:44You can't see. I've had that said to me before
- 1:12:48by an actual counselor. She was just like you.
- 1:12:50You're very done. You look great, you're talking,
- 1:12:53you smell good. Like.
- 1:12:56I'm fatigued, I'm sore, everything.
- 1:13:00But you don't see that part. Yeah, you don't see, you can't
- 1:13:04see what's going on inside the blood.
- 1:13:05You can't see that unless you do some blood work.
- 1:13:08So there's a lot that there's a lot that plays out into that big
- 1:13:11Dre, a lot of myths, a lot of stigmas.
- 1:13:14I mean, and it's only been around 100 and what about 120
- 1:13:19something years now or? 19 yeah, a few.
- 1:13:24A few months to them? Yeah.
- 1:13:25A few months. Yeah, half.
- 1:13:26My life, at least. So I'm 56, so I have, you know,
- 1:13:30it's been around, Yeah. Plus, I guess the parents don't
- 1:13:33see the parents don't see the kids.
- 1:13:34But then you sleep a lot, you very fatigue a lot.
- 1:13:37You play football. I'm just tired of having people.
- 1:13:40But offseason, you still lagging the same exact way.
- 1:13:42Something's mad with your kid if he's athletic and still having
- 1:13:45this. He sluggers all the time.
- 1:13:47The feeling bad, the bones hurt after the season's over.
- 1:13:50He's been on tradition. You have your kid checked out.
- 1:13:53Ladies and gentlemen, you only live have your kid checked out.
- 1:13:56Have an adult friend checked out.
- 1:13:58He keeps you praying about the issues and he's very athletic
- 1:14:01himself. It's something to matter with
- 1:14:03him, he or she, but I? Think a lot of the issue with
- 1:14:05that too is because I also have a few friends that didn't know
- 1:14:09that their children had sickle cell till later.
- 1:14:12But the issue might be also they could be also seen as growing
- 1:14:16pains as they get older and stretch out, you know, you start
- 1:14:19growing. So then the confusion is, oh,
- 1:14:24when it's just growing pains, it's not sickle cell pain until
- 1:14:27they physically go and get tested and then later find out
- 1:14:30that it might be very well sickle cell.
- 1:14:32Yeah, that's what mine was. Mine was growing pains from 1975
- 1:14:36until I collapsed it. All those years.
- 1:14:40Man 2006 it was and and I still have the same pains today at at
- 1:14:4456. Wow, it's it's like I look at
- 1:14:48now it makes me think my son now have the trait my my middle boy
- 1:14:51Roderick. And it's like I take God, why
- 1:14:54he's so fatigued all the time. He played, I believe so we only
- 1:14:57we had him testing back and see. Well, he's a he's a trigger take
- 1:14:59trait that I found out in claims for my for my, the mother of my
- 1:15:04my child, my son. And she passed away her heart
- 1:15:07attack at 47. And it was like, wow, you know,
- 1:15:11I look at myself. I said, well, we said no.
- 1:15:13And she's and who's the carrier most that was it the female or
- 1:15:16the male? Depends.
- 1:15:18On So basically it's just it's like flipping a coin and you
- 1:15:22know who it may be. Yeah, you know, yeah.
- 1:15:24Wow. Yeah, what I'm saying.
- 1:15:28So yeah. Wow.
- 1:15:29Yeah, yeah, something the next time somebody really got to push
- 1:15:32that needle more into the other cities because I know LA, man,
- 1:15:37they kids are yeah, I don't know what it is.
- 1:15:39It's it's like CTE and football. You can't tell to the person,
- 1:15:43damn, you got to pull a brain out.
- 1:15:45They out of the school and you find out they got CTE and I know
- 1:15:49it's something out there that can show that it's it's
- 1:15:52something to matter with somebody.
- 1:15:53It's starting to be mandatory when you're having a headache or
- 1:15:56amorism and amorit is just like this.
- 1:15:58You'd be walking and just drop there for amorisms, you know,
- 1:16:00and you look at it like, wow, you just drop there.
- 1:16:02Have a sickle cell too, you know, to the point it turned
- 1:16:06into rapid. Your body's just freezing up and
- 1:16:08your bones are aching and people just wonder what I'm so much,
- 1:16:11you know, so, so so I'm so lagging and and it's the reason
- 1:16:14I'm out with you. You tell people, go get a test,
- 1:16:16go get blood tests done something.
- 1:16:19And then what ends up happening too is when you have
- 1:16:21complications in addition to your sickle cell, which is what
- 1:16:25happened to me because I had colon cancer on top of my sickle
- 1:16:28cell crisis. So at the time I was going to
- 1:16:30chemotherapy, I was still getting bone pain and they were
- 1:16:34having trouble giving me the right medication to take care of
- 1:16:38both at the same time. Wow.
- 1:16:40Yeah, 111 medicine, absolutely. The other side of the medicine
- 1:16:43because it's different kind of that affects the body a
- 1:16:46different in a way. Wow.
- 1:16:48But child, you my hero child going through that and still
- 1:16:51have a smile on your face. I mean, I, I hate, I hate my my
- 1:16:56knee hurt. I'll be like pass out.
- 1:16:57Oh God, you know what I mean? We get to we get to we get to
- 1:17:01spin it off. We have, we have we smiling.
- 1:17:03Cut the thumb off, man. You know we are.
- 1:17:04But yeah, what you going through is if God got something for you,
- 1:17:08that's what it is. Why you still here?
- 1:17:11Yeah, I know. I know.
- 1:17:11He got something. He got something for Miss Mr.
- 1:17:13Doz over there. He got.
- 1:17:15He got. That's the whole thing, Dre, how
- 1:17:16do we take those afflictions right and, and, and have that
- 1:17:20give us our power back, right? So you can either you can look
- 1:17:23at what the world has to say about our our condition, or you
- 1:17:26got to go and see what God has to say about our condition. 2.
- 1:17:29Different you're going to get, you're going to get two
- 1:17:30different perspectives. One's going to be disempowering
- 1:17:33and one's going to give you your strength back.
- 1:17:34So, but wow, people have a choice.
- 1:17:37People have a choice. That's that's what that free
- 1:17:39will is about. You, you, you get to pick how
- 1:17:42you want to do yourself. You want to pick your see
- 1:17:44yourself as disempowered and and in the context that keeps you
- 1:17:48stuck and trapped in your mindset, in your heart.
- 1:17:52Or you want to get your strength back and and take that illness
- 1:17:55and move it forward. Before yes.
- 1:17:57And and make a difference in that no one, no one escapes it.
- 1:18:00No one escapes it. Cancer, whatever, whatever that
- 1:18:03is, no one escapes that. So it's how we, it's how do we
- 1:18:07talk about it, how we, how we talk from it.
- 1:18:10And then it also how it shows up in your life.
- 1:18:13If it shows up in your life in such a way where you're already
- 1:18:17in a positive space and you're not allowing those things to
- 1:18:19affect you, then you'll go ahead and you'll continue to fight
- 1:18:23through it. But if you're already in the
- 1:18:24mindset of this is too much for me, it's too, I can't bear this.
- 1:18:28I don't know how to deal with this.
- 1:18:30Then you're going to have that same mindset going throughout
- 1:18:33those things, and even when you go through cancer, the first
- 1:18:35thing they tell you is it's all about your mindset.
- 1:18:38If you carry that mindset that this is all bad, I'm going to
- 1:18:42die. You're going to carry that
- 1:18:43throughout the whole term and then eventually you might very
- 1:18:47well pass. You might die sooner than yeah,
- 1:18:49sooner. Than you were too close to.
- 1:18:52I had an aunt suppose they gave her six months to live.
- 1:18:55She ended up carrying on for four more years before she
- 1:18:59actually died. So.
- 1:19:00I think it plays a huge role. Mindset.
- 1:19:04Yeah, mindset. Well, you can't, you can't, you
- 1:19:07can't put yourself in the place of God.
- 1:19:09God got that. Your time frame from, from from
- 1:19:11from birth to the end of this time when he ready for you.
- 1:19:14Yeah, my mother, the same thing with her in her heart.
- 1:19:17She they said she's up in there like 12 years diagnosed and she
- 1:19:21lived another 12 years, you know, like.
- 1:19:23So yeah, my mother said until God said it's time to beat him.
- 1:19:28That's when you know, it's your time.
- 1:19:29I don't listen to what man tells me no more.
- 1:19:31They they're here to just say this is the prognosis.
- 1:19:34Doctor said we can't promise you we're going to keep you alive
- 1:19:36with you the best to make you feel comfortable because they
- 1:19:39trained this at pretty much. So it's like, yeah.
- 1:19:44I mean, that's what it is. So I again, you know, we're, we
- 1:19:46got a, another segment coming up in about 10 minutes.
- 1:19:50Big drain man. I just, I really appreciate you,
- 1:19:52man. Just your stand, just your
- 1:19:54relationship. You know that we've cultivated
- 1:19:58being at La talk live and then, you know, you stay live over
- 1:20:01there, shouts out the Veneric. Veneric is talking about he
- 1:20:04wants to get back on the radio. Man Veneric.
- 1:20:07I. Want to do a show?
- 1:20:09I want to do a show. I'm like, all right, let me let
- 1:20:11me see what's going on. Already got 2.
- 1:20:13Shows already. I.
- 1:20:15Was trying to give you a third. So I'm like where where you at
- 1:20:18on Wednesdays bro? Tuesday and Wednesday.
- 1:20:23I know, but you know, it's it's something we can, we can sit
- 1:20:26down and talk to him about something.
- 1:20:27You know, I missed the shock factor.
- 1:20:29I talked to the I talked to shock team all the time and I
- 1:20:31get to Atlanta shock, shock going good enough.
- 1:20:33I talk to MO her, her family. I was like, so she's still
- 1:20:36bigger than phenomena. She got a restaurant thing now,
- 1:20:39phenomenal dishes to be putting on Facebook and got to be all
- 1:20:41hungry and going again £100. But you know, it's like you
- 1:20:46know, but like I say, I thank you.
- 1:20:48Thank you for giving me more understanding.
- 1:20:50If I can understand now, but I do have a few, few rich friends
- 1:20:53in rich places. We need to do something to leave
- 1:20:56this world. It's a way with Dre.
- 1:20:57I'm I can't take all this money. I said, well, I can tell you put
- 1:21:00some of that money at I can show you where you put it up.
- 1:21:03Don't say you can't you be 100 men stronger, no kids and well,
- 1:21:06I'm going to let the government take it.
- 1:21:08No, for what if they can put in a dirty war.
- 1:21:10No, we don't know. We're no more than 100 men.
- 1:21:12Bring it. I I tell my uncle all the time.
- 1:21:14Well, when I leave, I ain't give my kid that I want to get that
- 1:21:17shit. Don't give to the other racial
- 1:21:19people. Give him somebody.
- 1:21:21Do some do some stuff with it, man.
- 1:21:22So you know, Hey, I'm about to talk to him.
- 1:21:24I'm doing something. I'm going.
- 1:21:25To I'm going to play some I got some some some talks on my
- 1:21:28website bigger. I'm going to play this one is
- 1:21:30about 3 minutes. It's over here me educating on
- 1:21:33the doing an online presentation right here.
- 1:21:35I saw that this was about Tuesday show MB radio dot US
- 1:21:40We're going to play some play some.
- 1:21:42It says. Although in rare cases, people's
- 1:21:45sickle cell trait might experience complications of
- 1:21:48sickle cell disease such as pain crisis in their extreme form,
- 1:21:58rare cases following conditions. So that paragraph right there is
- 1:22:02again, personal to me because my left arm has ached since I was,
- 1:22:08I can remember, 5 years old. But I remember talking to my mom
- 1:22:11and my mom said I was like 2 years old and I would be crying
- 1:22:15a lot. And at five, I was able to, you
- 1:22:19know, voice that more. And I remember my arm aching at
- 1:22:23night. And my grandmother would hold
- 1:22:25him over the sink and run warm water over my arm.
- 1:22:28And that would soothe my pain. And I would go back to sleep
- 1:22:32again. In 1975, they took me to the
- 1:22:36doctor and they told my parents my grandparents was growing
- 1:22:39pains. He's 5.
- 1:22:40Don't worry about it. I'm telling you now, I'm 50.
- 1:22:44And that pain in my arm, Wow, It's 50 right there.
- 1:22:48And. So.
- 1:22:49I just you looking good pain. It is a pain that I, I kid you
- 1:22:55not, I wish I was a Black Ken doll and I could pop it off and
- 1:22:59put it on a dresser because it hurts so bad.
- 1:23:02And even to this day, I still manage that pain in my arm.
- 1:23:07So with the research that they're doing now, finally
- 1:23:13people that have people that have met with sickle cell trait,
- 1:23:15these are the common symptoms that you hear, pain, crisis,
- 1:23:21fatigue. You have people who've gone
- 1:23:24scuba diving, mild climbing and they've had some serious effects
- 1:23:30from it. Low oxygen levels, places like
- 1:23:33Denver, Co. If you're a Pittsburgh Steelers
- 1:23:36fan, you may know that Ryan Park of experience.
- 1:23:42So Treyxertion playing football in Denver.
- 1:23:45He lost his sleeping gallbladder from that exertion and he could
- 1:23:49never play in Denver, causing such a championship run for
- 1:23:54sure. None the less, he could not play
- 1:23:57in did ever anymore. So the largest level in the air
- 1:24:03now climbing again, exercising extremely hard in military camp
- 1:24:09for training with athletic competitions.
- 1:24:11So again, I experienced mine in 2006.
- 1:24:14I was out of military installation, working on my
- 1:24:17bachelor rank and I was out I think my 17 year.
- 1:24:21I had done that exam two times a year for the last previous 17
- 1:24:25years. So it was like another morning
- 1:24:28get up. I got a big push up, sit ups and
- 1:24:32then two mile run a lot. And I remember we're trained to
- 1:24:36Sprint that last in the military.
- 1:24:38So I remember talking to myself and that's right next year.
- 1:24:43I'm actually headed to that base tomorrow to speak.
- 1:24:49This is another. This is a Part 2 of that
- 1:24:51presentation that we that I did over there.
- 1:24:54Do you remember studying sickle cells in biology class?
- 1:24:57What's the count on? Sickle Cell Trade Prevention is
- 1:24:59here to bring you awareness, education and prevention
- 1:25:02conversations around the risk factors of this inherited gene.
- 1:25:06Visit WDCI call flag for that condom of the sickle cell on the
- 1:25:09tube. Already call flag for.
- 1:25:11That I call flag for that. Man, you know what is this is
- 1:25:14what the world's all about. It's just starting to start a
- 1:25:16trouble and make people make people understand who you are.
- 1:25:19I love causing problems. I'm a point for me training
- 1:25:22problem. You know.
- 1:25:23I'm I'm well with it. You know what happened was big
- 1:25:26Dre, my mentor before she passed away, Phyllis, she she was like
- 1:25:32for Ron, we got to do something extreme to get people's
- 1:25:34attention, right? And then so we went to Vegas and
- 1:25:38we did some PS as stop sickle sex.
- 1:25:41Are you having sickle sex? You know, commercial PS as and
- 1:25:44stuff. And so after she passed in 2920,
- 1:25:492012, I was like, so I had, I had went on Twitter and there
- 1:25:54was, remember this, the Zika virus.
- 1:25:56Oh. Yeah, I remember that.
- 1:25:57Right. So it was a huge controversy
- 1:26:00with Zika virus. So there was AI think it was
- 1:26:04either Ash, somebody had put a a post up that had a Zika, a
- 1:26:10condom with Zika virus written on it.
- 1:26:13And then they. Had a, they had another condom
- 1:26:15with a, they had a condom with a banana on it.
- 1:26:18And it was talking about, it was talking about, you know, sex
- 1:26:20education and it, these education need to be revamped.
- 1:26:24So when I saw that on, on, on the Twitter, I was like, and I,
- 1:26:28I saw this sickle cell with a condom on it.
- 1:26:31And I was like, let me call my artist in Detroit.
- 1:26:33So I hit up my artist in Detroit was like, Hey, can you make me
- 1:26:37this diagram with the sickle cell?
- 1:26:39And he made it. And so because I, I took on stop
- 1:26:42sickle sex, right? And so stop, stop is the
- 1:26:46awareness, sickle is the education and sex is the
- 1:26:50prevention. So I've, I've started that.
- 1:26:53I started that years ago, years ago.
- 1:26:55But I've, I've had people that not want to work with me because
- 1:26:58I've, I they've, they've that that's it stops a sex campaign
- 1:27:02because of the condom. They're like, they're like, it's
- 1:27:04a little sketchy. I'm like, but it's real.
- 1:27:07It's a real life campaign. And so I still, I still have it.
- 1:27:10I got it on. I got on a back burner.
- 1:27:12But yeah, so when I, when I saw the sex education needs to be
- 1:27:17revamped, I'm like, well, it's inherited.
- 1:27:20And how else do you get how do you how does how else is it
- 1:27:23inherited by reproduction, by people who not knowing they have
- 1:27:27trade. They said 96% of the women who
- 1:27:30were have had babies with sickle cell.
- 1:27:33They didn't know that they were. They didn't know themselves.
- 1:27:36Or the carrier. How to were in were carriers.
- 1:27:40So when you look at it from that conversation, it's like where
- 1:27:44where is that awareness at? Where is that information at?
- 1:27:47So I'm I'm I'm blessed because like I said, the last 16 years
- 1:27:51when I started, the needle has moved a lot.
- 1:27:54The needle has moved a lot, but there's.
- 1:27:56We need to make more, more. We need to make more and needle
- 1:27:59move to the point there's still some gaps.
- 1:28:00Yeah, there's still. There's still some gaps in that
- 1:28:03conversation. Yeah, I'm going to go on another
- 1:28:05show, talk about it too. Another show that my boy, no,
- 1:28:08all you mentioned millionaire guys, you got this money is
- 1:28:10Burns. And look, man, put that money
- 1:28:12somewhere. Put that book donated 2 or
- 1:28:14$3,000,000 for more research. Yeah.
- 1:28:18Well, right now we're working on a on a on a sickle cell trait
- 1:28:22conversation. So.
- 1:28:24Mama Brings found it right now. That's definitely something we
- 1:28:28can talk about. Yeah, for sure.
- 1:28:30Yeah, matter of fact, I'll send you some information so you can
- 1:28:33take a look at it, but we're waiting on the next fighter.
- 1:28:36He should be here in the next few minutes.
- 1:28:40Joey the Booty Man. Yeah.
- 1:28:42Buddha. His last name spelled how you
- 1:28:44spelled. That's his last name.
- 1:28:46A A Bonnie. A buddy.
- 1:28:48Let me see. Yeah.
- 1:28:49A buddy A/B U you're gonna make. Me.
- 1:28:51You're gonna make me. I know it's.
- 1:28:53Short. It's short.
- 1:28:54I ain't gonna Batman till you go to the show, guys.
- 1:28:56We forgot the last name, man. Yeah.
- 1:28:59Make sure you do the right. I want to make sure there's a
- 1:29:01good introduction for him, man. For sure.

- 1:29:49What's next. That's really one of the key
- 1:29:51things is how do we find out what's next for us, right?
- 1:29:54So PSA right here, the front Dozy show.
- 1:30:12Hey, what's up man? How you doing?
- 1:30:14Hey, did you see the game last night?
- 1:30:17But did you see the shot? I lost money from that.
- 1:30:20Oh man, that shot was. Old man but it.
- 1:30:22Was good, yeah. What's the name?
- 1:30:31Do you really want to know? I do.
- 1:30:37Exhaustion, muscle spasm, Asthmatic issues, Unexpected
- 1:30:42sickle cell trait type. Are you serious?
- 1:30:45When I was young I found out I had sickle cell trait.
- 1:30:48My mom's told me but I didn't have no knowledge of it.
- 1:30:50But when I got older, I had a child and the doctor told me my
- 1:30:53daughter had sickle cell trait. You know, the fact that both
- 1:30:56parents have sickle cell trait, there's a 50% chance the child
- 1:30:59may have the trait and 25% chance the child may have the
- 1:31:02disease. And that's what's the count.
- 1:31:04Do you know that 225,000,000 people in the United States have
- 1:31:07sickle cell trait? 300 million people globally.
- 1:31:09I didn't find out I had sickle cell trait until I was in the
- 1:31:11Army 10 years. Next thing you know I had a
- 1:31:13sickle cell trait exertion site. April Cell I.
- 1:31:17Thought that was a black Gen. or something.
- 1:31:19Nah man, the black community is number 21 out of 36,000 babies
- 1:31:22are being born with sickle cell disease.
- 1:31:24You could be Caucasian, Mediterranean, European.
- 1:31:27You gotta wear your bloodline man.
- 1:31:31There is an inherited gene in our community that has been
- 1:31:34forgotten. The name is Sickle cell trait.
- 1:31:36WDCONSCT, also known as What's the Count, is out to bring
- 1:31:41awareness, education and prevention to people all over
- 1:31:44the globe. Want more information?

- 1:32:04All right, welcome back to the Fond Duise Show on the Military
- 1:32:07Broadcast radio network, MB Radio.
- 1:32:09And it just so you understand what that conversation that Dre,
- 1:32:12big Dre was mentioned earlier, it's called a radomyelosis.
- 1:32:15You can go to www.rabdo.info. That is a real condition that I
- 1:32:22experienced with my sickle cell trade, pretty much ended my
- 1:32:24career with the experience of rhabdomyosis and sickle cell
- 1:32:28trade exertion. And for some people, the
- 1:32:31combination of the two has been fatal.
- 1:32:33We've lost athletes, we've lost military personnel exercising.
- 1:32:38And so that condition is real. So yeah, we, the name is, you
- 1:32:42got to know, pronounce it, but it's called rhabdomyosis.
- 1:32:45They say about 200,000 people a year experience rhabdo and for
- 1:32:49some cases it can be fatal. Sickle cell trait is just one
- 1:32:52connector to rhabdo, but you can have other red blood cell
- 1:32:55conditions. You can have skeletal, muscular
- 1:32:57disorders, muscle disorders, muscle genes that could trigger
- 1:33:01statin medication like cholesterol medications.
- 1:33:04Anything that has statin drugs mixed with it can cause rhabdo.
- 1:33:08Crushing can cause rhabdo and dehydration right off the top
- 1:33:12can cause rhabolosis. So it's not just sickle cell
- 1:33:15trait, it's just one of playing heritage genes can be a trigger.
- 1:33:19I've met people with all different types of health
- 1:33:21conditions and inherited genes that experience Rabdo worst,
- 1:33:25worst case in mind. I had to learn how to walk all
- 1:33:27over again because they're crediting kinesis levels were in
- 1:33:29the hundreds of thousands, right?
- 1:33:31And so, and unfortunately, the other side of that has been
- 1:33:34fatal. So again, very important
- 1:33:36conversation around that. And so I'm bringing up big Dre,
- 1:33:39our our guest is here. So let me bring up big Dre deck.
- 1:33:44All right, Big Dre. What's happening, man?
- 1:33:47Man, hey, you know that was a great Lynn.
- 1:33:49But my my prayers go up my girl Lynn.
- 1:33:52And before we get started on bringing our next joy, the booty
- 1:33:55man, I guess a buddy, a last name, my buddy do.

- 1:34:05To bring them on, let me bring them to the deck.
- 1:34:07We're going to bring you to the deck, man.
- 1:34:08How you doing? Man, what up?
- 1:34:09What up? What up?
- 1:34:10What up, Joey? Joey, How you doing, Joey?
- 1:34:12I'm doing. Good.
- 1:34:16How you pronounce it? Give it to me.
- 1:34:17Give it to me, Right It's. A booty.
- 1:34:19A booty. OK.
- 1:34:21Yeah. Joy, Joy, Joy.
- 1:34:22The booty, man. A booty.
- 1:34:23I like that. I like that.
- 1:34:24I like that. I like that.

- 1:35:12further introduction, we want to introduce you super welterweight
- 1:35:15contended 10 and one vote knockouts.
- 1:35:18His name is Joseph, what we call the Joey the booty man of booty.
- 1:35:24Welcome to the the bags Victor Cameron show man.
- 1:35:26We appreciate you coming out on a rainy day.
- 1:35:28I appreciate you having. Me.
- 1:35:30OK, go ahead. Go ahead bro.
- 1:35:32Go and leave them all for the quick.
- 1:35:33So I'm, I'm, I'm gonna get you start off, man, introduce
- 1:35:35yourself to the listeners, man. Give them a little bit of
- 1:35:37background of of of how you got here growing up.
- 1:35:40All right, so I guess I'll start with when I started boxing 17
- 1:35:46years old, like right before my senior year of college, like
- 1:35:52summer going into senior year, I just I found sweet science.
- 1:35:57I wanted to try boxing because I watched this anime called Hajime
- 1:36:02no EPO and I was like, damn, boxing is cool.
- 1:36:04I want to do that. So I found a gym, I just started
- 1:36:08going and the gym owner Marco was sometimes started a really
- 1:36:13like pay attention to me, have guys come in to spar me.
- 1:36:17And eventually he took me to my first amateur fight, which was
- 1:36:20like six months after I started training at the gym.
- 1:36:25I won that fight by stoppage. Not long after we did like the
- 1:36:28the Socal tournament or something and I won that.
- 1:36:31I just kept winning tournaments. Like within like a year of just
- 1:36:36me training, he was already taking me to spar pros.
- 1:36:40We then like we won the, we won the open class Southern
- 1:36:47California Golden Gloves like with like a year and a half or
- 1:36:51less of like experience. Boxing eventually started going
- 1:36:56to nationals, got like a national ranking.
- 1:37:00Finished my amateur career in 2022 or beginning of 2023.
- 1:37:09I was ranked #2 at 147 in the country ranked #2 in the.
- 1:37:13Country. And I just turned pro, so I have
- 1:37:17like a handful of amateur fights now.
- 1:37:20Like almost like a handful of pro fights too.
- 1:37:23And pro experience. I'm 10 and one for knockouts as
- 1:37:27a pro fought in Saudi Arabia and the WBC Grand Prix.
- 1:37:32So you're doing that thing we we think you're having to man on
- 1:37:36our card man, November 7th. You're going to throw out up
- 1:37:39there in in the studios and and on beach.
- 1:37:42You about to show out, aren't you?
- 1:37:43I know you are. Oh.
- 1:37:43Yeah, yeah, I've been. I've been like working on some
- 1:37:46real good stuff. You're going to see like a much
- 1:37:49better, more improved version of Joey.
- 1:37:53So the booty man. We will ask that question, man,
- 1:37:59that question. I know all the fans out there
- 1:38:02who watching. I want to know where you in the
- 1:38:04heck you get the name Booty man, where they come from it?
- 1:38:07Actually. Started from like elementary
- 1:38:13school. I like my friends.
- 1:38:15They used to just like joke around with me.
- 1:38:17Oh booty man, booty master. I eventually made my Xbox
- 1:38:22gamertag booty man because like just they were all calling me it
- 1:38:28so I just thought it'd be. Cool.
- 1:38:30So you knock him on your booty. You're not going to their booty,
- 1:38:31which we doing in the rain and knock him on your booty.
- 1:38:34Exactly. Eventually in the gym, like
- 1:38:36everyone in the gym just started calling me that.
- 1:38:38So for my last fight I just decided like, maybe I'll just go
- 1:38:41with Booty Man. Everyone's saying you need a
- 1:38:42nickname. Everyone in the gym calls me
- 1:38:44Booty Man or like Booty or something.
- 1:38:47It's always something to do with like booty, you know?
- 1:38:49So, so, so Joey. Tell me.
- 1:38:51Tell me. Because because we know our
- 1:38:53peers can be hard on us with the teasing.
- 1:38:57How? Did you?
- 1:38:58How did you take that and spend that to empower you versus let
- 1:39:02that defeat you as a, as a, as a nickname man?
- 1:39:05I like that. I always thought it was kind of
- 1:39:10funny. Like I, I never, I'm not really
- 1:39:11the type of guy who'll take myself, like, too serious.
- 1:39:15Yeah. I.
- 1:39:17Like I I also thought to myself, like that name kind of stands
- 1:39:20out. It's like no one.
- 1:39:22Really. Has a name quite like it.
- 1:39:23So it would help. Put more eyes on me too.
- 1:39:28So yeah, I mean, that's for boxing.
- 1:39:30But as far as like just growing up in general is just kind of
- 1:39:33like. Normal.
- 1:39:34Like it's nothing that ever really bothered me that much.
- 1:39:38Yeah, well, the question I got is I want to know.
- 1:39:41We asked Aaron earlier. He's gonna be on the same note,
- 1:39:44down the same car with you on on November 7th.
- 1:39:46Aaron Whitehurst, how did you meet Mr. Jeff Davis, Promoter,
- 1:39:50He a great guy. I'm the president of box
- 1:39:52operations. I make sure you guys are you
- 1:39:54have your needs wanted. And how did you meet Mr. Davis?
- 1:39:58I met him through my manager Marco.
- 1:40:01He's also the owner of the gym I train at.
- 1:40:04I started training like with Marco in 2017 when I started
- 1:40:08boxing. Been with him ever since.
- 1:40:10And I just recently met Jeff in person for the first time at my
- 1:40:14gym Suite Science. And it was just Marco introduced
- 1:40:17the two of us. Marco got us on the card.
- 1:40:21So that's. I'm looking for I'm looking for
- 1:40:24it, man, I'm looking for it. I'm looking forward to the booty
- 1:40:26man puts my on their booty at night.
- 1:40:28And you know, I think you have a bunch of fan base of women too
- 1:40:32and say, well, he must got a cute booty.
- 1:40:34Girls were asking questions. You have that female base now.
- 1:40:38I actually went the same question I asked caring about if
- 1:40:42you put yourself back 10 years and fight some of the the
- 1:40:46greatest, you know, super welterweight division.
- 1:40:47I was like crazy welterweight division back 20 years ago,
- 1:40:50junior. Welterweight.
- 1:40:51Junior welterweight. Yeah, junior welterweight.
- 1:40:52I'm saying now, one step upset going to next level.
- 1:40:56Who would you think you'd be fighting at that super
- 1:40:58welterweight 10 to 15 years back if you was back in the rankings?
- 1:41:02Who would you want to fight? Your top.
- 1:41:03Your Fab 4. 10 years back, Mayweather was fighting. 10
- 1:41:09years ago, huh? Yeah, a lot of.
- 1:41:11He was fighting at welterweight. So yeah, I, I think him and
- 1:41:15Pacquiao, like, I, I always really looked up to Pacquiao
- 1:41:18when I first started training. I always like, just really
- 1:41:21admired him. But I think both Mayweather and
- 1:41:25Pacquiao, like, I really like what Mayweather does, too.
- 1:41:28I think those are like the two main fights from people who were
- 1:41:32like active 10 years ago. And I think those are like the
- 1:41:35two. Like talk guys.
- 1:41:37Or I think they were coming. Who?
- 1:41:38Who do you see? Well, who do you see yourself,
- 1:41:41your fight style? You have your own set of fight
- 1:41:43style. Who do you see yourself
- 1:41:44fighting? There's so many legends out
- 1:41:45there back then, then and now. Who do you see?
- 1:41:47Yourself maybe. But you, I'm not saying you
- 1:41:50trying to copycat, but who do you see yourself in your ring,
- 1:41:53Some of your favoritism, some of your movements of a sweet
- 1:41:55science. The name of being boxing is a
- 1:41:57science. You know, the game thing is a
- 1:42:00science. Yeah, my coach Jamal always told
- 1:42:04me that. I remind him of Salvador
- 1:42:06Sanchez. Oh man, he went wild.
- 1:42:12He went back in Georgia. I was one of the old man Savileo
- 1:42:17Sanchez. That's a that's a name directed
- 1:42:19with that's a good that's a good person to to follow and be a
- 1:42:22mentor. Every turn around shout out to
- 1:42:24the late great, you know so, but you know, God is so good that
- 1:42:29what makes you like like he was saying earlier, like for all I
- 1:42:33was saying earlier as Whitehurst, what makes your the
- 1:42:36spiritual part of you keeps you motivated and what makes you
- 1:42:39drive to be the best you can be in boxing, because it's so
- 1:42:42difficult with in mindset. The thing is when I like, I'm a
- 1:42:50completely different person now, like now compared to who I was
- 1:42:55like when I first started boxing.
- 1:42:57Boxing has changed. Boxing is like helped me grow so
- 1:43:04much as a person and it's actually like really helped me
- 1:43:09feel more connected to God, helped me.
- 1:43:11Like it's taught me how to really find peace within myself
- 1:43:18and it's really just made me like it's helped me become a
- 1:43:21much better person. It's taught me how to, it's how
- 1:43:25to really value family and just like other more simple things in
- 1:43:30life, boxing has like given me such a healthy perspective and
- 1:43:35outlook on life going forward. And that in itself just
- 1:43:41motivates me to want to take boxing as far as I can.
- 1:43:48So I would just say like that's the biggest thing is just seeing
- 1:43:54what boxing has already done for me and how it continues to help
- 1:44:01me grow and mature as a person. Yeah, give me some give me some
- 1:44:07mental toughness. You know what, what, what do you
- 1:44:10equate or who do you equate that mental toughness developing and
- 1:44:13you know, around boxing or around sports, athletics, What
- 1:44:17do you, what do you get that your environment, your parents,
- 1:44:19your family, who, who, who inspired that or who the.
- 1:44:22The mental toughness, I mean, this is gonna sound crazy, so
- 1:44:29no. I do.
- 1:44:30I always grew up. Playing a lot of sports and I
- 1:44:33was always a pretty athletic kid, but I never really had that
- 1:44:37work ethic and Dr. nor that real understanding.
- 1:44:41And it wasn't until I started watching anime and I saw how how
- 1:44:47like these guys approach like I watched a lot of sports animes
- 1:44:51like a baseball one too, and then even just other like shown
- 1:44:54in animes like one piece and stuff.
- 1:44:56I, I just like, I learned a lot from how how they approach
- 1:44:59situations, how they handle hardships, like the resilience
- 1:45:04and the work ethic. And I was like, wow, you know,
- 1:45:07like if I, if I could do, if I can like use that same approach
- 1:45:14to whatever I do in life, like what, what can I do?
- 1:45:19And I always wanted to be a pro athlete growing up.
- 1:45:21That was always like a dream of mine, but I never really
- 1:45:25understood the work required to like make it happen.
- 1:45:31And so I kind of saw boxing as as my last chance to be cut,
- 1:45:37like makes like do something with a sport and become a pro
- 1:45:40athlete. So boxing was like the first
- 1:45:44sport. I really applied that anime
- 1:45:46style work ethic and obviously throughout the last like 10
- 1:45:50years or so, I've learned a lot about like work ethic and how to
- 1:45:57maximize overall progress and like gains and all that stuff.
- 1:46:01I. Just.
- 1:46:02Learned a lot, made a lot of mistakes, but I think like
- 1:46:05really the the initial mental toughness, work ethic, it really
- 1:46:09came from anime. Like I, I learned a lot.
- 1:46:12From hey, look, look, I I wouldn't take action if you've
- 1:46:15ever watched inside out inside out the movie, man, if people
- 1:46:19set aside the cartoonish around that movie and look at the
- 1:46:23principles of that little girl and what she's, you know, how
- 1:46:26her brain develops. We would learn a lot about how
- 1:46:28our minds are developed. And so it's nothing wrong with
- 1:46:31getting that from an anime. If that's what you caught that
- 1:46:34and that spoke to you to empower you and to give you that level
- 1:46:38of self esteem or self worth or self.
- 1:46:41It doesn't matter where it comes from because that's that's they
- 1:46:44write those characters for a reason, right?
- 1:46:47They're. Just animated.
- 1:46:48There's, there's stories and those that's it's the first and
- 1:46:50you apply that to real life. Like I said, with the inside
- 1:46:53out, you understood how much anxiety and joy and and sadness
- 1:46:57plays a part of your emotional state.
- 1:46:59You would want to get a hold of those conversations and you
- 1:47:02would want to how do I develop my emotions?
- 1:47:04How do I develop? That I.
- 1:47:06Appreciate you. It's, it's not wild.
- 1:47:07It's it's just whatever. That was what God allowed.
- 1:47:10You to see to say, hey, this is what this is what this looks
- 1:47:14like. Oh, and now you got it from an
- 1:47:15anime. That's that's there's nothing
- 1:47:17wrong with that. So I appreciate that I'm a music
- 1:47:19guy. So my mom also used to like tell
- 1:47:23me all the time, like, oh, Joey, like you whenever you try at
- 1:47:28anything, you're good at anything you try at, but you
- 1:47:31just, you just don't care about anything.
- 1:47:33So that's why like. That's why you get bad grades.
- 1:47:36That's. What I mean like whenever you
- 1:47:37I'm, I'm going to be you. Can do anything and like
- 1:47:40especially when I first got into boxing, like I really believed
- 1:47:43that. I really believed that
- 1:47:44throughout the whole course of my life that like oh, anything I
- 1:47:47try at I could be good at. And I took that with me in
- 1:47:49boxing. I was like, this is something I
- 1:47:51want to do and this is something I want to try at.
- 1:47:54So like, I just believed in myself with that too.
- 1:47:58Yeah, What do you listen to in your headphones?
- 1:48:02Wait, wait, wait. I'm sorry.
- 1:48:03Go ahead. I'm a music guy, So what are you
- 1:48:04listening to your headphones when you're working out?
- 1:48:06Man, what's going? House music, a lot of house
- 1:48:09music sets. I like the rhythm.
- 1:48:11I like to dance to house music too.
- 1:48:14But when it comes to training, a lot of house music.
- 1:48:17Lot of house. I'm actually a mentally tough
- 1:48:20question to come to losses. That one loss you got, you lost.
- 1:48:24What went through your mindset after that that that first loss
- 1:48:26you got? Fuck, like after, I mean after
- 1:48:32the fight initially after I like right after I remember opening
- 1:48:36my phone and seeing all these like messages, messages like
- 1:48:40good positive support. And I just broke down and cried
- 1:48:43for a little bit. After that I just kind of like
- 1:48:47got my shit together, flew back home.
- 1:48:51The the flight home was tough just because I didn't get any
- 1:48:55sleep. Like right after the the fight,
- 1:48:58we got transported to the hotel. My coach and I, we got the
- 1:49:02chance to walk around a little bit, grab some food, and from
- 1:49:05there we took the shuttle to the airport and flew back.
- 1:49:09And it was late at night. Even just the entire time out
- 1:49:11there, I didn't get a chance to really get like a full night's
- 1:49:15rest. But it it took some time for me
- 1:49:20to process everything. I didn't really feel discouraged
- 1:49:25in any way. After.
- 1:49:27The loss, it was more so just processing what happened where
- 1:49:34like the mistakes I made and what I need to do to fix them
- 1:49:38going forward and like what I can do to become better in the
- 1:49:43future. So it was.
- 1:49:45A big thing just. Focus on what I need to do next
- 1:49:48to become better so I don't let something like that happen again
- 1:49:52because I still to this day, I feel like I I won that fight at
- 1:49:58least by split decision, at the least a draw.
- 1:50:02But you know, it. It's boxing the judges like he
- 1:50:08was doing better. There's nothing you can really
- 1:50:10do about it. Yeah.
- 1:50:12I I were you in his hometown? Were you?
- 1:50:14Were you in his hometown when it happened?
- 1:50:16It it, it was in Saudi Arabia for the Grand Prix.
- 1:50:21So like we, we were, we were, we both flew out.
- 1:50:24He was from Mexico. He, I only had like 6 pro
- 1:50:27fights. He had like 18 pro fights at the
- 1:50:30time. He, he was like, he was favored
- 1:50:33to win the fight. He was like, if you know, like
- 1:50:37the A side B side, he was on the the A side of it.
- 1:50:40But I didn't. I also didn't know who I was
- 1:50:44fighting until the. Yeah, one of those, one of
- 1:50:47those. And it was everyone from just.
- 1:50:50All different countries. Wow.
- 1:50:53Coming in and it was all like good up and coming guys with
- 1:50:56like good records, undefeated guys and this guy happened to be
- 1:51:01like the one guy with the the most fights in the tournament.
- 1:51:04I got matched up with him the day before and I just I studied
- 1:51:08like the footage I found of him and just went.
- 1:51:11In there and. Just did what I was trying to
- 1:51:13do. Yeah, and, and sometimes it
- 1:51:15seems to happen, though that I was.
- 1:51:17I know you know who James likes how Tony is a good friend of
- 1:51:19mine, mentor. A friend of mine.
- 1:51:21James told me. Yeah, when you put a person in
- 1:51:23the ring 24 hours for your time, it's so hard to mentor toughness
- 1:51:29of trying to figure out who this fighter is his style, where he
- 1:51:33he's moving in 24 hours, nothing but for you to think you got to
- 1:51:36draw. And I'm going to look at that
- 1:51:37fight and see I, I believe my, my, my heart.
- 1:51:40I can talk to you now. You probably did win that fight.
- 1:51:43But you know, of course you can't make a A side guy look bad
- 1:51:46when they come to the B side guy and give him hell and they'll
- 1:51:49take him to deep water. They'll be like, how's it dude?
- 1:51:516 and O and you 18 and one or whatever, 18 and O and you can't
- 1:51:55get a deep, you know, and then go in the distance.
- 1:51:56That shouldn't be happening. So I understand how you feel.
- 1:51:59They've been an underdog. I've been an underdog almost
- 1:52:01almost all my life. Every sport I've played, but
- 1:52:04I've always proved them wrong and I kept moving and doing
- 1:52:07things. But come November 7th as the
- 1:52:11studios of the Thunder Studios tickets on sale

- 1:52:31watch you? What do you want?
- 1:52:32What do you want to talk to the people about that's coming to
- 1:52:33watch you? Like what do you want to tell
- 1:52:35them? The biggest I guess you'll see
- 1:52:43like just to like I I've been working on a lot of stuff in the
- 1:52:49gym, adding a lot more to my style.
- 1:52:52So there's going to be a lot more improvements to my style.
- 1:52:57Like I, I'm already pretty fun guy to watch, an entertaining
- 1:53:00guy to watch. And I think come November 7th,
- 1:53:03you're going to see an even more entertaining, better version of
- 1:53:07me. So I'm like really excited.
- 1:53:09I've been really focused on this one.
- 1:53:13It's been a while since I fought because my last one in May I, I
- 1:53:17fractured my hand. So I was out for a little bit.
- 1:53:19But ever since I've been like cleared and back, I've been in
- 1:53:23the gym like really. And even during my time off, I
- 1:53:26spent a lot of time thinking about what I need to do to get
- 1:53:29better as a fighter, how I can get stronger, faster, like
- 1:53:33smarter, all that. So I've, I just been feeling
- 1:53:37really good about this one. I'm really excited to showcase
- 1:53:41my skills and what I've been working on in the gym.
- 1:53:44OK, good. So yeah, I heard it first here
- 1:53:47by Joey the booty man about let me tell you something that so
- 1:53:51intro I I saw a couple of your fights.
- 1:53:53I I researched your fight. You your style reminds me also
- 1:53:57of Camacho. Heck, Camacho.
- 1:53:59I don't know why he remind me Camacho much and he's won the
- 1:54:02baddest round in the game before it was with division.
- 1:54:05He remind me style like his also very aggressive.
- 1:54:08You got a good right hand and I think if people don't come see
- 1:54:12you and buy them tickets at at no@nosafecorner.com, they're
- 1:54:16going to miss out on the great, great even fight they're going.
- 1:54:18They're going to miss out seeing an incredible champion in the
- 1:54:21future. I already see that.
- 1:54:23Exactly. Anything.
- 1:54:25So remember folks. Yeah, anything you want to say,
- 1:54:28Joy, before we let you go, man, If I miss anything, if any,
- 1:54:30shout out. If you want to shout out.
- 1:54:31How's your camp? Talk about your camp.
- 1:54:33What's up with your? Camp.
- 1:54:33Oh yeah, Joe the camp. Yeah, man.
- 1:54:34Tell me the camp, man. I'm about to.
- 1:54:36Camp Camp has been good like just recently like as of this
- 1:54:41week, it's my life is just boxing and I'm doing I'm doing
- 1:54:46EMT school. So it's just boxing and.
- 1:54:47Studying, Yeah. Before that.
- 1:54:53Yeah, but camp's been going well.
- 1:54:56Like, I sparred today, felt great.
- 1:55:00After this, I'm going to go for a run.
- 1:55:02I'm just, you know, living camp life, having a good time.
- 1:55:07That's the best life cap life. Now that's a question I want to
- 1:55:11ask too. Also, when it comes to the the
- 1:55:14day of the way, now, what goes through your mind the day of the
- 1:55:16way in, you know, you got to make that way.
- 1:55:18What goes through your mind get after when you make that way,
- 1:55:21your fighters going on an eating frenzy.
- 1:55:23They try to take all of us. When they get on that, that
- 1:55:25fight, you know, the night before they really go, they come
- 1:55:28in that one, come in that 140, No 40.
- 1:55:30Then you come out like 150 come out.
- 1:55:31You have to fight. Yeah.
- 1:55:34So what? Go to your mind.
- 1:55:37For me, like, like my mentality is that the weight cuts not over
- 1:55:42until the fights over. And what I mean by that is after
- 1:55:45I step on the scale, there's still a very disciplined way of
- 1:55:51how I have to approach the the rehydration and refuel process.
- 1:55:55So I don't, I don't really go crazy.
- 1:55:58I just, I just take all the, I just do what I need to do to
- 1:56:08like rehydrate and refuel in, in the healthiest way possible.
- 1:56:11I'm very precise with like how much I eat, how much I drink,
- 1:56:16the timing of it, all the like, like within like like the hours
- 1:56:23and just every, everything. I I'm like very calculated with
- 1:56:27how, how I rehydrate and I just for me, I don't the wait
- 1:56:31insurance not over until or the the weight cuts not done until
- 1:56:34the fight is done or until I'm like I get there on Fight Night
- 1:56:38and I start warming up and then it's like time to fight.
- 1:56:41Yeah, yeah. So asking that, asking that that
- 1:56:43mean question of of ferocious question.
- 1:56:46What goes through your mind when you're putting them?
- 1:56:48You're getting tape, you're getting inspected by the, you
- 1:56:49know, by the Commission expecting you're OK Now what's
- 1:56:52in your mind next? Next thing you've been getting
- 1:56:53that ringing about 1520 minutes as long as 15 minutes left
- 1:56:56hitting them at paths. Get yourself warmed up.
- 1:56:58What's going through your mind? Yeah.
- 1:57:01Does that. Does that character click over?
- 1:57:03I, I don't really think too much.
- 1:57:06I just kind of like get myself in the right mood to, to go out
- 1:57:10there. I just kind of like just really
- 1:57:14just warming up and getting myself ready.
- 1:57:16I kind of like get myself kind of excited and just locked in
- 1:57:20ready to go. I I try not to think of like
- 1:57:22anything else outside that, just kind.
- 1:57:25Of like. Think about what needs to be
- 1:57:27done in there, practice it, warm my body up and just kind of go
- 1:57:33in, do my thing. OK.
- 1:57:36OK. Any more questions for him?
- 1:57:38No, I'm good, man. I appreciate your time, man, for
- 1:57:40coming to hang out with us last minute.
