- 0:17Speaker 1: Welcome into Jagsam, I'm Kinanie Stevens, Brian Textan, and John
- 0:20Speaker 1: Osier are with me. We're gonna recap game for you
- 0:22Speaker 1: from yesterday, the Jaguars facing off against the Jets. We'll
- 0:25Speaker 1: start out with our big things. Big thing number one
- 0:27Speaker 1: is surprised. Surprise Stop me if you've heard this before,
- 0:30Speaker 1: but the Jaguars lost a one score football game in
- 0:33Speaker 1: which they had a chance to win. A lot of
- 0:35Speaker 1: it coming down to taking field goals over touchdowns.
- 0:39Speaker 2: I mean, yeah, like I said, I mean, you want
- 0:41Speaker 2: to get to the fourth and have a different result.
- 0:43Speaker 2: But at the end of the day, you gotta get
- 0:45Speaker 2: there and you gotta put up points, and I can
- 0:47Speaker 2: turn some of those threes into sevens, like I said,
- 0:49Speaker 2: and it's a different game. So I'll learned from it
- 0:52Speaker 2: and thought the guys played well, fought hard, and I
- 0:55Speaker 2: really enjoyed playing with this group, and we're gonna figure
- 0:57Speaker 2: it out.
- 0:58Speaker 3: Brian.
- 0:59Speaker 1: A lot of that game is what we've been talking
- 1:00Speaker 1: about this season. They play close in these games, they
- 1:03Speaker 1: have an opportunity, but then it's either the defense giving
- 1:06Speaker 1: up big plays or the offense can't score when they
- 1:08Speaker 1: need to, and which I'll both of it.
- 1:10Speaker 4: Yet, well, the offense was moving the ball surprisingly well
- 1:13Speaker 4: early on, which we hadn't seen this year, and the
- 1:15Speaker 4: defense did a nice job. I mean, other than after
- 1:17Speaker 4: the fake punt where Aaron Rodgers drove them down the field,
- 1:21Speaker 4: he completed just one pass in the entire first half. So, John,
- 1:26Speaker 4: the Jaguars had two red zone opportunities where if you
- 1:30Speaker 4: just get touchdowns, maybe you incite the shut it down
- 1:34Speaker 4: button at halftime, but instead Aaron Rodgers figures, well, it's
- 1:37Speaker 4: close enough, let's go, and you're just waiting. You just
- 1:40Speaker 4: knew that this was going to come down to a
- 1:42Speaker 4: fourth quarter game. And he has a long history of
- 1:45Speaker 4: winning games at the end, and the Jaguars obviously have
- 1:47Speaker 4: a long history, well at least this season, of not
- 1:49Speaker 4: winning games at the end. So that was maddening to
- 1:52Speaker 4: watch because you knew you had an opportunity, you hadn't
- 1:55Speaker 4: take advantage of it because Rodgers would eventually come to life.
- 1:58Speaker 5: Yeah, most people watching this have I watched the NFL
- 2:01Speaker 5: enough to feel what everybody felt at halftime, which is
- 2:05Speaker 5: you had all these opportunities. You had dominated uh time
- 2:09Speaker 5: of possession, yardage, first downs to a point. They hadn't
- 2:12Speaker 5: done all year, and then you look at the scoreboard
- 2:14Speaker 5: and it was what thirteen seven? Uh that when DeVante
- 2:19Speaker 5: Adams and Eric Rodgers on the other side the script
- 2:25Speaker 5: to to call in our video for a couple of
- 2:27Speaker 5: years ago. The script was pretty easy to see yesterday,
- 2:30Speaker 5: and unfortunately it played out it did.
- 2:32Speaker 1: It was pretty well written or second big thing though,
- 2:34Speaker 1: BTJ is the way.
- 2:36Speaker 3: If there was one bright spot.
- 2:37Speaker 1: Yesterday, it was there was a rookie wide receiver. He
- 2:39Speaker 1: had two touchdowns, ten catches over a hundred yards receiving,
- 2:43Speaker 1: and he also broke two up the rookie franchise records
- 2:47Speaker 1: only ours.
- 2:48Speaker 4: When I was alright, I was kind of s Uh.
- 2:49Speaker 4: I was super excited cause they called him.
- 2:51Speaker 2: I didn't know if I had it or not, so
- 2:52Speaker 2: uh yeah, I was super excited about both of 'em.
- 2:55Speaker 4: Really, I knew when I got the touchdown, Uh.
- 2:57Speaker 3: I was, I broke it, so uh it was just
- 2:59Speaker 3: super exciting for me.
- 3:00Speaker 5: It was.
- 3:01Speaker 4: Uh, it was a great moment.
- 3:03Speaker 1: Uh.
- 3:03Speaker 4: At the end of the day, still reform, It'll be
- 3:05Speaker 4: better if.
- 3:05Speaker 1: I got to win.
- 3:07Speaker 3: Didn't get the win, but we get to see a
- 3:08Speaker 3: special player.
- 3:09Speaker 1: John and Brian Thomas junior really coming into his own
- 3:11Speaker 1: as well, playing with a backup quarterback and still finding
- 3:14Speaker 1: ways to get the ball and score touchdowns.
- 3:17Speaker 3: Yeah, he's he's good.
- 3:19Speaker 5: He he's Uh, this f franchise has never seen this
- 3:24Speaker 5: in terms of a first round drafted wide receiver who's
- 3:28Speaker 5: more than living up to it.
- 3:30Speaker 3: Uh.
- 3:30Speaker 5: There's many players at the position in the last five
- 3:35Speaker 5: or six years around the league who you can compare
- 3:38Speaker 5: him to. This team is needed one of those guys,
- 3:43Speaker 5: and uh, they've got it. The shame is he's breaking
- 3:45Speaker 5: out on such a bad team, which a Jaguars are
- 3:48Speaker 5: right now that probably nationally people aren't gonna feel that.
- 3:51Speaker 5: But Brian, he's got You know, there's so many guys.
- 3:53Speaker 5: I'm not gonna say he's gonna be the best receiver
- 3:55Speaker 5: in the league, but he's gonna be elite, and he's
- 3:59Speaker 5: gonna be a guy they can d had on a
- 4:01Speaker 5: building block, all those things. He's one of the two
- 4:04Speaker 5: or three most important players in this team, no doubt.
- 4:06Speaker 4: And I'm gonna leave the BTJ conversation to you guys
- 4:09Speaker 4: because it's been it's been all we've really had to
- 4:11Speaker 4: talk about in recent weeks. I want to just spend
- 4:13Speaker 4: a moment on Breton Strange, who we might not otherwise mention.
- 4:16Speaker 4: He caught eleven of twelve balls yesterday, stepping into a
- 4:19Speaker 4: critical role because the tight end in this offense is
- 4:22Speaker 4: a critical part. We hadn't seen him that way, and
- 4:25Speaker 4: I recall people were disappointed by his rookie season and
- 4:29Speaker 4: we said just hold on because the guy shows promise,
- 4:32Speaker 4: and yesterday Brenton Strange delivered on that promise. He has
- 4:35Speaker 4: been a really good football player, whether you're asking him
- 4:38Speaker 4: to block or run a rout and catch a critical
- 4:41Speaker 4: third down. Breton Strange is part of the way around
- 4:44Speaker 4: here too. You talk about BTJ and Tank Bixby, Breton
- 4:48Speaker 4: Strange has moved his name kai into that triumvirate of
- 4:52Speaker 4: young offensive weapons.
- 4:53Speaker 1: Another one of the young players that we love to
- 4:55Speaker 1: see developing as this season goes along. Our final big
- 4:58Speaker 1: thing is going to be Max World playing one of
- 5:00Speaker 1: his best games in Jaguars uniform, but came up not
- 5:03Speaker 1: enough at the end of the game when he throws
- 5:05Speaker 1: an interception. But the energy brings out there definitely needed
- 5:08Speaker 1: around this time of the year.
- 5:10Speaker 2: Yeah, for sure, I appreciate you know, it's not I
- 5:12Speaker 2: think for me. It kind of ruins it because we
- 5:15Speaker 2: didn't win, right, and I'm I'm always about that. But
- 5:18Speaker 2: at the same time, I've been very hard on myself
- 5:19Speaker 2: in the past, and my goal is to finish this
- 5:22Speaker 2: year strong and see where it takes us. And I'm bummed.
- 5:25Speaker 2: I'm disappointed because we were in that game and I'm
- 5:28Speaker 2: looking at it from a professional standpoint and what can
- 5:31Speaker 2: I do better? And I thought the coaches called a
- 5:34Speaker 2: good game and the players executed for the most part.
- 5:36Speaker 2: I just got to make it a couple more plays
- 5:38Speaker 2: and we'll be in a different spot.
- 5:41Speaker 3: Brian.
- 5:41Speaker 1: They didn't win the game, but the energy was different.
- 5:43Speaker 1: And I think at this time of the year, because
- 5:44Speaker 1: they've lost so many games, it could look like it
- 5:47Speaker 1: did against the line every week, with no energy and
- 5:49Speaker 1: just flat.
- 5:49Speaker 3: But at least it was entertaining.
- 5:51Speaker 4: He was fun. I mean, Mac is a fun guy.
- 5:53Speaker 4: We know that we watched it in training camp. But
- 5:55Speaker 4: yesterday when he was running the ball and spinning off
- 5:58Speaker 4: of a defender's attempt to tackle him, or you know,
- 6:00Speaker 4: just fighting for the extra yardage and getting up and
- 6:03Speaker 4: smiling and pointing, and I felt like it was his day.
- 6:06Speaker 4: I felt like it was the Jaguars day quite honestly,
- 6:08Speaker 4: as sufficiently John, as they moved the ball. It's just
- 6:12Speaker 4: when they got to the red zone. Your day is three,
- 6:15Speaker 4: not seven. And ultimately everyone's gonna remember that last throw
- 6:19Speaker 4: that was intercepted with still an opportunity to try to
- 6:22Speaker 4: tie the game and say, well he's Mac. Yeah, Well,
- 6:26Speaker 4: for a lot of yesterday, he was a lot of
- 6:27Speaker 4: fun to watch, and this has not been a fun
- 6:29Speaker 4: season for the Jaguars, so I appreciated that.
- 6:31Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 6:31Speaker 5: Look, he's I believe has a long career in the NFL.
- 6:38Speaker 5: I think it'll be as a backup. He brings it,
- 6:41Speaker 5: he's a pro. He's fun to watch. I just don't know.
- 6:46Speaker 3: We've all seen.
- 6:47Speaker 5: It to attack defenses downfield.
- 6:51Speaker 4: His arm is not what the great quarterbacks are.
- 6:55Speaker 5: Yeah, it was fun and at the end you throw
- 6:58Speaker 5: the pick and that's fun.
- 7:00Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 7:01Speaker 3: John likes fun. So do I stay with us.
- 7:04Speaker 1: We're gonna go over the highlights for you from yesterday
- 7:06Speaker 1: against the Jets.
- 7:15Speaker 3: Move the freight, moved the freight.
- 7:16Speaker 1: Magellan Transport voted the coolest office space in Jacksonville. Can
- 7:19Speaker 1: apply a line at Magellanlogistics dot com.
- 7:24Speaker 3: Welcome me back in here.
- 7:25Speaker 1: On Monday, sadly not a victory Monday, but we're going
- 7:28Speaker 1: to go over some of the video against the Jets
- 7:30Speaker 1: and talk a little bit about what went down in
- 7:32Speaker 1: that game, because things started out not bad as we
- 7:34Speaker 1: talked about the.
- 7:35Speaker 4: First half, and was the first opening drive touchdown they've
- 7:38Speaker 4: posted all year. They only had a pair of field
- 7:40Speaker 4: goals to shoot for, so you know, we had talked
- 7:42Speaker 4: with Mac early in the week about you know, what
- 7:44Speaker 4: does it take to get started early? As well? I'm
- 7:46Speaker 4: not a football scientist, well he looked like one in
- 7:48Speaker 4: the first try.
- 7:49Speaker 3: Football scientists, we do a lot of the short screens.
- 7:52Speaker 1: I mean, we know that works well for them obviously.
- 7:55Speaker 1: That was something they wanted to do as a game
- 7:57Speaker 1: plan that they came out with and it worked well
- 7:58Speaker 1: early and getting beat he Jay involved obviously was huge
- 8:02Speaker 1: as well. There's there's some of that Mac Enert here
- 8:06Speaker 1: we talk about. We love to see it. I mean,
- 8:09Speaker 1: after this, I just felt like Brian Thompson he was
- 8:11Speaker 1: going to have a day and we know he always
- 8:14Speaker 1: has that ability to have a big play, but just
- 8:16Speaker 1: getting him involved early and just seeing him being comfortable
- 8:19Speaker 1: out there, you can tell when he's kind of feeling
- 8:21Speaker 1: in rhythm.
- 8:22Speaker 4: That's incredible separation there right in a tight area to
- 8:25Speaker 4: just run away from the defensive back like he's not
- 8:28Speaker 4: even trailing him. Just put the ball out there and
- 8:30Speaker 4: let him go get it.
- 8:31Speaker 5: Yeah, during the draft, you heard from the analyst that
- 8:36Speaker 5: there were three guys at the top, but that out
- 8:38Speaker 5: of all the others, he had the ability to be
- 8:41Speaker 5: a one. And we could start to see it in
- 8:43Speaker 5: training camp where he would get open easily and he
- 8:47Speaker 5: had such natural speed and the DBS we're talking about
- 8:51Speaker 5: how hard it was to cover him, the Buccaneers DBS, well,
- 8:55Speaker 5: even the Jets. But I mean there's a lot of
- 8:58Speaker 5: jokes in there, but he's special in the way he's
- 9:04Speaker 5: very hard to defend. He has natural speed. What was
- 9:06Speaker 5: cool about that he broke Allen Hearns's rookie record and
- 9:10Speaker 5: he went over and gave the ball to his mom, Sondra,
- 9:12Speaker 5: and out of it. It's fun in an unfun season
- 9:17Speaker 5: to see a kid kind of coming into his own
- 9:20Speaker 5: and there's a confidence. I love his confidence because it's
- 9:26Speaker 5: not a cockiness, meaning he knows he's really really good
- 9:32Speaker 5: and he really doesn't have to tell everybody he's really good.
- 9:34Speaker 5: And he plays with that, he's not surprised when he succeeds.
- 9:40Speaker 4: It's gonna be fun to watch how good.
- 9:41Speaker 1: This guy gets turns into cockiness on the field though.
- 9:43Speaker 1: I think what he's saying to some other people, But
- 9:46Speaker 1: that's I.
- 9:47Speaker 4: Know, that's okay. I just love the way you approached Listen.
- 9:51Speaker 4: If I love it with Mac, I'm gonna love it
- 9:52Speaker 4: even more with Brian Thomas.
- 9:53Speaker 3: Absolutely.
- 9:54Speaker 1: Let's talk a little bit about the fake punt and
- 9:57Speaker 1: then the first touchdown for the Jets, because at first
- 9:59Speaker 1: you like, okay, we go.
- 10:00Speaker 3: Score, we get a three and out, not quite what
- 10:04Speaker 3: it meant to be.
- 10:05Speaker 5: So well, this is always you're always in danger of
- 10:11Speaker 5: this sort of play late in the season if teams
- 10:15Speaker 5: are involved that are out of it because there's really
- 10:18Speaker 5: no risk, nothing to lose. I don't know that you
- 10:20Speaker 5: would have seen this call from a team in it
- 10:24Speaker 5: or in week four, but when it's two, three and ten,
- 10:28Speaker 5: teams roll it out here and go with vague people.
- 10:31Speaker 4: Detroit are run happy with Dan Campbell this morning for
- 10:33Speaker 4: going for an on side kick, so you do see
- 10:37Speaker 4: some craziness there. It felt like once they got that
- 10:41Speaker 4: first down, here comes Jared Rogers and Barret Wilson is
- 10:44Speaker 4: really fast and look at him just you know, one's peppering.
- 10:47Speaker 3: I can't imagine that was the plan, but probably all
- 10:50Speaker 3: by himself.
- 10:51Speaker 4: Were a couple of those instances yesterday where it's like, wow,
- 10:53Speaker 4: look at how wide open the receiver is.
- 10:55Speaker 1: All right, now, let's talk a little bit about some
- 10:57Speaker 1: of the Mac what are you doing moments? So his
- 10:59Speaker 1: first interception of day and then also kind of that
- 11:02Speaker 1: scramble after as well. So with Mac Jones, we know
- 11:06Speaker 1: interceptions will come. Obviously, it's frustrating when you feel like
- 11:10Speaker 1: things are going well and then it kind of stops
- 11:12Speaker 1: everything up.
- 11:13Speaker 5: But the first one, though, didn't It wasn't Yeah, it
- 11:17Speaker 5: was third down.
- 11:18Speaker 4: Yeah, it's the same bas that gets a really good punch.
- 11:21Speaker 5: Yeah. And that's the sort of play that I think
- 11:25Speaker 5: with Mac. And I'm not sitting you're trying to hammer
- 11:27Speaker 5: on Mac, but with Max's arm, if you're gonna get
- 11:30Speaker 5: a big play, that's sort of the time to throw
- 11:33Speaker 5: it up and see what happens. Uh, because you're putting
- 11:36Speaker 5: on the next down anyway, So this one will go
- 11:39Speaker 5: down as Okay, tuner sent for Mac. I wouldn't care
- 11:42Speaker 5: well and I would say he turns into Derek Hannell.
- 11:44Speaker 4: My complaint though, is that he was throwing at Devin DuVernay, right,
- 11:48Speaker 4: I mean, he's not the tallest guy, and you're throwing
- 11:50Speaker 4: into double coverage for Devin Duberne and here, I mean
- 11:52Speaker 4: this is credit for him. I mean it wasn't gonna slide. Yeah, Mac, Mamia, yeah, Well,
- 12:00Speaker 4: I mean this is a runner. He himself said he's
- 12:03Speaker 4: not the fastest guy. I mean that's a quote from
- 12:05Speaker 4: him this week's and to fight for that. That was
- 12:07Speaker 4: on third down, pick up the key, first down. I
- 12:10Speaker 4: loved it. He didn't need to see Brian.
- 12:11Speaker 3: You didn't love this, though, did you?
- 12:13Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 12:13Speaker 5: I hate it.
- 12:14Speaker 4: This is and you and I were texting and your thoughts, Well,
- 12:17Speaker 4: this is what you get with Mac. Just toss the
- 12:20Speaker 4: ball out of bounds. Don't take the six yard sack
- 12:23Speaker 4: because now it's third and goal from the thirteen as
- 12:25Speaker 4: opposed to third and goal from the six. I mean, Mack,
- 12:28Speaker 4: what do you doing?
- 12:29Speaker 5: Mac could tell you that was a little bit of
- 12:30Speaker 5: a brain fade, which we all have. Not everybody has
- 12:33Speaker 5: it on National I.
- 12:36Speaker 4: Get it, but you just you're the quarterbot. No it
- 12:39Speaker 4: just drop it out of bounds. That's all you have
- 12:41Speaker 4: to do.
- 12:41Speaker 1: All right, Let's talk some DeVante Adams things, because that
- 12:44Speaker 1: is a talent. Obviously, we knew Aaron Rodgers very talented,
- 12:47Speaker 1: DeVante Adams very talented as well, and seeing that combination
- 12:50Speaker 1: all the years they've played with each other, just some
- 12:53Speaker 1: impressive plays out there on the football field.
- 12:55Speaker 4: Well, we only had one catch of one target in
- 12:57Speaker 4: the first half, and you just knew this was this
- 13:00Speaker 4: was game changing. This was a Hall of Fame quarterback
- 13:02Speaker 4: and a lot of players and coaches talked about it yesterday,
- 13:05Speaker 4: but we're talking about one of the best receivers in
- 13:07Speaker 4: recent memory and a Hall of Famer for certain. And
- 13:11Speaker 4: I was trying to put in context what yesterday's performance
- 13:15Speaker 4: where he was just physically better than everyone else in
- 13:18Speaker 4: the secondary. Julio Jones came in here in twenty and
- 13:21Speaker 4: fifteen and the Jaguars couldn't No one could cover him,
- 13:24Speaker 4: and Andre Johnson did a time and time again with
- 13:26Speaker 4: the Texans. That was an epic performance by that receiver.
- 13:30Speaker 4: He was just so much better than everyone around.
- 13:31Speaker 5: Him, you know. And we've talked some this year about
- 13:35Speaker 5: this sort of dynamic with this team I've said all year,
- 13:40Speaker 5: I don't know if the Jaguars have enough great elite players.
- 13:44Speaker 5: He said, well, oh, I think he's gonna have DeVante Adams.
- 13:47Speaker 3: Where the Eagles beat the Jags this year.
- 13:49Speaker 5: Because DeVante Smith, Debonda Smith and Don were okay, made
- 13:55Speaker 5: a huge play above the x's and o's. Great players
- 14:01Speaker 5: win games like that, and DeVante Adams being the best
- 14:04Speaker 5: player in the field meant the Jets won well and
- 14:07Speaker 5: the Jaguars need more of that.
- 14:10Speaker 4: They had that touchdown reversed and got the ball back
- 14:13Speaker 4: and went right back to him, so they didn't think
- 14:16Speaker 4: about anybody else. It's we're seventeen. You can't cover him.
- 14:19Speaker 5: Well, there are three or four plays Davante made, now
- 14:22Speaker 5: the two big ones in the fourth quarter. You're not fast,
- 14:26Speaker 5: but you might have been able to get the first
- 14:29Speaker 5: down on the last play. So they gave him too
- 14:34Speaker 5: much as well. But there were also plays that there
- 14:38Speaker 5: were three or four plays the touchdown, the twenty seven
- 14:41Speaker 5: yard are down the sidelines that he did get the
- 14:43Speaker 5: ball and I didn't think he caught it, he made
- 14:46Speaker 5: the catch.
- 14:47Speaker 4: Those were throw it up to a Hall.
- 14:49Speaker 5: Of Fame player, And again, I don't want to believor
- 14:52Speaker 5: the point that Brian Thomas Junior was turning into. I
- 14:56Speaker 5: think he's quite there yet. That's what you have to
- 14:59Speaker 5: have to get to a level.
- 15:00Speaker 4: He has a long way to go in the sense
- 15:03Speaker 4: that it's about timing. I mean, you could just see
- 15:04Speaker 4: that it was in eight between Rogers and Adam yesterday.
- 15:08Speaker 4: That is time on task. That is not training camp,
- 15:11Speaker 4: that is not year two, that is year seven kind
- 15:14Speaker 4: of stuff.
- 15:15Speaker 5: But the good news for the Jags is they have
- 15:16Speaker 5: a quarterback Brian Thomas Junior has the ability to become
- 15:21Speaker 5: to make that sort of play. I don't know that
- 15:23Speaker 5: they've had that since Blackman.
- 15:26Speaker 4: No, they have not. And you hope that next year
- 15:30Speaker 4: the quarterback is healthy and the wide receiver stays healthy
- 15:34Speaker 4: because those guys get beat up too. But that you're
- 15:36Speaker 4: seeing that timing on some of those spade passes that
- 15:39Speaker 4: he just hasn't been able to hit with mac Jones.
- 15:41Speaker 4: He just doesn't have enough muscle memory from running the
- 15:44Speaker 4: route on the practice field.
- 15:45Speaker 3: He doesn't. Unfortunately, we did not win this football game.
- 15:49Speaker 1: I'm not going to show you the last interception, and
- 15:50Speaker 1: we talked a lot about the Jets, So we're going
- 15:52Speaker 1: to move this along today and we'll tell you what

- 16:22Speaker 6: I think it's extremely frustrating, but we got a good
- 16:24Speaker 6: group of guys that win our lose, will stick to
- 16:28Speaker 6: you know, stick with it and stick with each other.
- 16:30Speaker 6: And I think this locker room is not a fantastic,
- 16:32Speaker 6: fantastic job if you're sticking thin this year, I'm of
- 16:38Speaker 6: rallying around each other so you know, we could get
- 16:42Speaker 6: I mean, they could be the exact opposite, and guys
- 16:46Speaker 6: haven't let that happen, so are very appreciative of that.
- 16:48Speaker 3: And it makes coming to work a lot easier to
- 16:52Speaker 3: stick together. So that three more games this season, we're
- 16:54Speaker 3: going to bring you.
- 16:55Speaker 1: Our hot takes now from Firehouse subs Brian, when you're
- 16:58Speaker 1: looking ahead, what's your hot takes?
- 17:00Speaker 4: These are getting harder and harder because it mean it.
- 17:02Speaker 4: They're obvious to people. But last week we talked about
- 17:05Speaker 4: all the young players and why the Jaguars were able
- 17:08Speaker 4: to beat the Titans because of their young players. But yesterday,
- 17:11Speaker 4: in the most critical moment of the ballgame, they lost
- 17:14Speaker 4: because of one. It's tied at twenty five in the
- 17:17Speaker 4: fourth quarter. It's the final drive for the Jets, and
- 17:20Speaker 4: it's third down and five on the cusp of field
- 17:22Speaker 4: goal range, and the Jets called time out. So you
- 17:25Speaker 4: had a chance to talk about this on the sideline.
- 17:28Speaker 4: And when they lined up and I saw Davante Adams
- 17:30Speaker 4: across being covered by Jari and Jones, I went, there
- 17:34Speaker 4: it is, that's where they're going, and Jarian Jones let
- 17:38Speaker 4: him go. Right you're in man coverage and he let
- 17:42Speaker 4: him go. So there was a miscue somewhere. He thought
- 17:45Speaker 4: he made a mistake. But your young player in a
- 17:48Speaker 4: crucial situation didn't do the right thing. And DeVante Adams
- 17:52Speaker 4: was wide open, and as you mentioned, I could have
- 17:54Speaker 4: gotten the first down. Yeah, he went forty one yards
- 17:58Speaker 4: to set up the game winning touchdown. And so you
- 18:01Speaker 4: when you play with young players, you win with the
- 18:05Speaker 4: sword and you die by the sword, so to speak,
- 18:07Speaker 4: and that was the case yesterday on the most critical
- 18:09Speaker 4: play of the game for the defense.
- 18:10Speaker 5: Yeah, I'm frankly not sure. I mean, I don't know
- 18:13Speaker 5: that Jarian Jones was a bad matchup. He might be
- 18:16Speaker 5: the best.
- 18:16Speaker 4: Cornerback right now in this steam. Oh, I no doubt that.
- 18:18Speaker 3: Did we double thought?
- 18:20Speaker 1: Well?
- 18:20Speaker 4: Yeah, listen, Adams mightn't require that, right. This is not
- 18:24Speaker 4: meant to gut Jarian Jones. I think he's a really
- 18:26Speaker 4: good young player. It's just whether it was the scheme
- 18:30Speaker 4: and how you decided to do it, or whether it
- 18:32Speaker 4: was the execution. You were relying on a young player
- 18:35Speaker 4: against the best player on the field yesterday. Is there
- 18:38Speaker 4: any argument that he was the best football player in
- 18:40Speaker 4: the field yesterday and so it didn't work out and
- 18:43Speaker 4: you have those mistakes with young players.
- 18:46Speaker 5: Yeah, I agree with that, Brian. It's tough to come
- 18:49Speaker 5: up with a clever new hot takes after these games.
- 18:53Speaker 5: I went with this is who they are, is what
- 18:55Speaker 5: they are, It's what they've been all season. They fight.
- 19:00Speaker 5: They fought yesterday. The one two and the will were impressive.
- 19:06Speaker 5: It was defined by Mac. But you know, I think
- 19:09Speaker 5: there was any doubt they were playing together. They wanted
- 19:11Speaker 5: to achieve, but they've lost big game. I mean they've
- 19:16Speaker 5: lost games with big plays at the end of games.
- 19:19Speaker 5: They've lost eight one score games. And to further the theme,
- 19:24Speaker 5: they're a team that gives up a criminal amount of
- 19:27Speaker 5: explosive plays in big situations. It's almost it's hard to
- 19:31Speaker 5: give up as many as they do. And so I
- 19:36Speaker 5: would rather be here at eight and five talking about
- 19:39Speaker 5: different things. But I don't know how else you define
- 19:42Speaker 5: this team other than to say that game is what
- 19:45Speaker 5: this season is all about.
- 19:46Speaker 1: It was a full microcosmo the entire year.
- 19:49Speaker 4: I felt full money.
- 19:50Speaker 1: Full deal. All right, I'm going a little positive. I
- 19:53Speaker 1: don't think this is hot. This is not a hot
- 19:55Speaker 1: take for anybody in Jacksonville, but it might be a
- 19:56Speaker 1: national hot take. I think Brian Thomas Junior is currently
- 19:59Speaker 1: the best wide receiver from his class right now when
- 20:02Speaker 1: you look at the stats.
- 20:03Speaker 3: Obviously, none of those.
- 20:04Speaker 1: Rookies are in great situations that necessarily the team. He
- 20:07Speaker 1: could say, Marvin Harrison Junior is, but the Bears and
- 20:09Speaker 1: the Giants have struggled as well. But Brian Thomas, with
- 20:12Speaker 1: his two touchdowns yesterday, breaking the franchise record for yards
- 20:15Speaker 1: as well. He now leads in receiving yards, he leads
- 20:18Speaker 1: in touchdowns. He does not lead in receptions, but Milik
- 20:22Speaker 1: Nighbers has about forty more targets than him, so that's
- 20:24Speaker 1: a little bit of that. I think his development as well,
- 20:27Speaker 1: also with a backup quarterback in mac Jones, has shown
- 20:29Speaker 1: his versatility and he's just getting smarter as things go along.
- 20:32Speaker 1: So in a draft where they said there were only
- 20:34Speaker 1: three wide receivers, that think Brian Thomas Junior is proving
- 20:36Speaker 1: that there was more than that.
- 20:37Speaker 4: By the way, the Raiders have a young player that
- 20:39Speaker 4: they're very excited about. Just like Brian Thomas Junior, we'll
- 20:43Speaker 4: see Brock Bowers and Taple down here saw him all
- 20:45Speaker 4: the time when he was at Georgia and was a
- 20:46Speaker 4: star player. He leads all tight ends in the NFL,
- 20:50Speaker 4: not just rookies, all tight ends in receptions and yards
- 20:54Speaker 4: and is a first team All Pro possibility.
- 20:57Speaker 1: And on a team where they've been struggling as well.
- 21:00Speaker 4: And they have struggled as well, and he slid.
- 21:03Speaker 5: I mean, yeah, I was wrong about Brock Bowers. I
- 21:05Speaker 5: thought that he maybe hit achieved in college because he
- 21:09Speaker 5: was bigger, stronger, faster, everybody else, and you wondered if
- 21:12Speaker 5: that will that doesn't always translate. And guess what, this
- 21:18Speaker 5: is the first time I've ever know.
- 21:21Speaker 3: Wrong.
- 21:22Speaker 4: The Raiders have a long tradition of great tight ends,
- 21:26Speaker 4: going all the way back to Dave Casper. For those
- 21:28Speaker 4: of you old enough to recall, this guy is evoking
- 21:30Speaker 4: those sorts of thoughts. He looks like he's truly a
- 21:33Speaker 4: great player. So there, it's a great sign for people
- 21:35Speaker 4: who were worried about draft order, right because he's slid
- 21:38Speaker 4: and Brian Thomas link back to Daguars, move back a
- 21:40Speaker 4: couple of times and got Brian Thomas. It doesn't matter
- 21:43Speaker 4: whether you're third or whether you're sixth. What matters is
- 21:46Speaker 4: is that you get a great player, find a great player,
- 21:49Speaker 4: and there will be some good players no matter where
- 21:51Speaker 4: the Jaguars are. The Raiders got powers at what thirteen
- 21:54Speaker 4: fourteen something like that, Ain't that right? Yeah?
- 21:56Speaker 3: That'll do all right.
- 21:58Speaker 1: So let's well tell you what's going on the rest
- 21:59Speaker 1: of us. Can we come back at the break
