- 0:00Speaker 1: As we head downhill on the downhill run toward going
- 0:05to Dallas for the Texas OU weekend. Craig Way is
- 0:10my name, Cameron Parker, alongside the producer. Of course, both
- 0:12of us will be headed up north to Dallas at
- 0:14the completion of this program. And let me just say this,
- 0:20this doesn't really affect either you or me because neither
- 0:24of us are Native Texans. Now, we've both lived in
- 0:27the state a while. In fact, I've lived most of
- 0:29my life in the state of Texas, but I wasn't
- 0:33born here and didn't grow up here. I moved out
- 0:35when I was eighteen and have lived out here ever since. However,
- 0:40one thing that I never picked up on that native
- 0:44Texans say, including my wife, including my kids, who by
- 0:49birth are Native Texans and they were born in this day,
- 0:51is the term coming from Austin or Georgetown or whatever
- 0:56in the area. Yeah, we're going to go down to Dallas. No,
- 0:58you're not going down, going up, You're going up. I
- 1:02thirty five, You're going north. Going north is going up
- 1:06if you're from Oklahoma. Yeah, you're coming down to the
- 1:09Dallas for the game. But but I hear that a lot. Yeah,
- 1:12we're gonna go down to Dallas for the game. And
- 1:13going down you can say down to Houston, because it's
- 1:16kind of east southeast. You can definitely say down to
- 1:18San Antonio, but not down to Dallas. You go up
- 1:22to Dallas, and you've driven up to Dallas many times.
- 1:26Speaker 2: I think a lot of people say that.
- 1:28Speaker 1: I do notice that, but mainly Native Texans I've noticed
- 1:31really interesting.
- 1:32Speaker 2: Yeah, hey, we're going down to Chicago this weekend. Oh okay,
- 1:35interesting Chicago, nexas Chicago. Where's another Chicago.
- 1:43Speaker 1: You go up to Chicago, you go north to Chicago.
- 1:46You go up to New York. You don't go down
- 1:47to New York. It don't go down to Los Angeles.
- 1:50You go out to La You out to the coast.
- 1:52You know, people say, we go out there out west. Uh,
- 1:56you go up north to the Pacific northwest. Yeah, you
- 2:00don't go You don't go nor. You don't go down
- 2:03to Dallas, go north, you go up anyway, We're gonna
- 2:06go up there. We get done with the program this afternoon.
- 2:10We've talked some baseball. They're just now getting about they
- 2:14haven't started yet, about to get Game four of the
- 2:18al Ds series between Cleveland and Detroit. At k America
- 2:22Park and Detroit Underway, and so far, so far, the
- 2:29lower seeds have really made a statement. In the American League.
- 2:38You have the number six seed Detroit up to games
- 2:42to one on Cleveland. If they win this game in Detroit,
- 2:46the number six seed in both the American League Division
- 2:49Series or the American League Playoffs and the Nationalague Playoffs,
- 2:53both will have advanced to their respective league championship series.
- 2:58Mets did that the six seed. The Mets have already
- 3:01knocked off the three seed Milwaukee and the two seed Philadelphia,
- 3:06and so now they're waiting to see who wins the
- 3:08game between the one seed Los Angeles and the four
- 3:11seed San Diego. Know this, if the Dodgers don't win
- 3:15tomorrow night, and quite frankly, I didn't expect them to
- 3:18win last night. But it was a brilliant pitching performance
- 3:21by the bullpen for the Dodgers, and as we mentioned earlier,
- 3:26the calculated risks taken by both teams. It worked for LA,
- 3:30it did not work for San Diego. Bringing back Dylan
- 3:32Cease on short rest and all of that sort of thing.
- 3:35Speaker 2: We sound down on the Dodgers.
- 3:37Speaker 1: Craig, I'm wearing my hat today. I'm not down, no, no, no no.
- 3:41I am being a realist about it, unlike you. I
- 3:44watched my.
- 3:44Speaker 2: Team on television, but like me, you are a realist.
- 3:47Speaker 1: I am, I am. I'm not a pessimist. I am
- 3:50a realist. And after all, we are talking about a
- 3:53team that has been knocked out in the division at
- 3:56this level, the Division round the last two years, last
- 3:59year by ours On, a year before by San Diego.
- 4:01In twenty one. They got to the NLCS where they
- 4:04lost to eventual world champion Atlanta. When they lost to
- 4:08the Braves in twenty twenty one, but you know, they're
- 4:13just flat out of starting pitching. So they had to
- 4:16cobble it together last night, and they did, and they
- 4:19got their offense going. They've got Mookie Bets going again.
- 4:22They're trying to get Shoeo Chiny going again. We'll see
- 4:24if Freddie Freeman can play tomorrow night. He'll note if
- 4:29he'll be able to go, or Miguel Rojas. But anyway,
- 4:33they put the pieces together to get that win in
- 4:36San Diego and deny the Padres a chance to beat
- 4:40the hated what do they call it, the whatever, the
- 4:43evil Empire whatever to knock them out on the in
- 4:48San Diego on their home field. It didn't happen, so
- 4:50they're gonna have to do it on the road. But
- 4:52they're an extremely confident team and this is gonna be
- 4:54an interesting game tomorrow night. But my point was going
- 4:57to be, if the Dodgers don't win tomorrow night, your
- 5:01National League Championship Series will be the fourth seed against
- 5:04the sixth seed. The four seed San Diego would have
- 5:08home field advantage. Winner of the game tomorrow night is
- 5:12going to have home field advantage for the NLC. Yes,
- 5:16Now ask the Mets if they care. I mean, the
- 5:21Mets have been away, were away from them. They had
- 5:24to get at least one win in Atlanta, and they
- 5:27did to get in. Then they went to Milwaukee and
- 5:31knocked out the Brewers and you know, in a decisive
- 5:35third game did that, went to Philadelphia, got the first game,
- 5:40lost the second game, and then went home and did
- 5:44not look back and did not allow the series to
- 5:46get back to Philadelphia. Detroit is trying to do the
- 5:49same thing in the American League. Detroit, of course, swept
- 5:54two games from the three seed Houston then went home,
- 5:59dropped or then went to Cleveland dropped Game one to
- 6:01the Guardians, the number two seed, who looked every bit
- 6:03the part of the first game. They blew them out.
- 6:05They scored five runs in the first inning, the one,
- 6:06seven to nothing since that time, since that time, Cleveland
- 6:11has scored a grand total of two runs. It was,
- 6:14and those were in game one. They're not scored in
- 6:17Game two or Game three as they get ready to
- 6:18start this one. So the Guardians are in trouble. They're
- 6:22the number two seed. And if Detroit wins this game
- 6:26this afternoon or tomorrow, a decisive final game, which would
- 6:30be back in Cleveland, then you'd have both six seeds
- 6:35into the postseason, into the final four, if you will,
- 6:39of Major League Baseball. Now, the Yankees and Dodgers can
- 6:42keep things, you know, relatively on level. If the Yankees
- 6:46finish off the Royals tonight after winning last night, it
- 6:50was a tight game, they won that three to two.
- 6:52The gian Carlo Stanton home run the difference in the ballgame,
- 6:55So they could finish off off the Royals tonight, and
- 7:01if the Dodgers find a way to win that fifth
- 7:03game against the pod Race, then you'll still have both
- 7:07number one seeds in. There would be really interesting. If
- 7:10you add the one seed against the sixth seed in both,
- 7:13it might kind of quiet the argument somewhat that folks
- 7:17are making about this five day layoff that division championship,
- 7:21that it's bad for you and all that kind of stuff.
- 7:22I know this, the Dodgers really needed it at the
- 7:25end of their deal. They were so beaten up and
- 7:27beating down and all that other kind of stuff. But
- 7:30when folks look at Philadelphia, you know, and say, hey,
- 7:33look and if Cleveland gets knocked out, I'm gonna say
- 7:36both two seeds got knocked out, both three seeds got
- 7:39knocked out. Now, they didn't have the layoff they were
- 7:41playing in the deal, So I don't know. John Smoltz
- 7:45was talking about it on the telecast, and I think
- 7:47he makes a good point. They can revisit all of this,
- 7:51that the sample size is still relatively small since they
- 7:54expanded it to this point. But there seems to be
- 7:58movement a foot, perhaps to make the Wildcard series just
- 8:01one game and then make the division series best of
- 8:06seven so that you still have time to recover yourself.
- 8:11If you're a higher seed and you drop the first
- 8:14two games at home or whatever and fall behind on
- 8:17that deal.
- 8:17Speaker 2: We'll see the Detroit Tigers. Craig remind me the Rangers
- 8:21last season. Yeah, a team, Watson said that when he
- 8:23was on with us, A team that you started off
- 8:26good and then had some moments in the season where
- 8:28you thought out, I don't know they're gonna make the playoffs.
- 8:30They don't end up winning their division. Now, of course,
- 8:31Rangers lost in the last week of the season, whereas
- 8:34Cleveland led from game one. The game won sixty two.
- 8:38But they are a team eighty six wins this year.
- 8:40Rangers won I think ninety this last season. Rangers, of
- 8:43course a five seed. But this Detroit team, I mean,
- 8:46they're scrappy, They're a lot of fun to watch, and
- 8:49there's just been a great story so far this season.
- 8:51And just like the Rangers beat the Astros last season
- 8:54in the ALCS, it looks like the Detroit gonna knock
- 8:57off Cleveland in the ALDS this season.
- 9:00Speaker 1: Wow, it'll be amazing if it happens. So anyway, they're
- 9:03just now getting underway with Game four of that series
- 9:06at Comerica Park. All right up next, we brought this
