- 0:01Speaker 1: Joe Podcast.
- 0:03Speaker 2: Check it out.
- 0:03Speaker 1: But Joe Rogan Experience Trained My Day, Joe.
- 0:07Speaker 3: Rogan Podcast, by Night, All Days. Good to see it same.
- 0:16Speaker 3: We were just talking, so I had a pause Jamie
- 0:20Speaker 3: before the podcast, So you were telling me that Lebron
- 0:22Speaker 3: James is not gonna go back to the Lakers. How's
- 0:26Speaker 3: he now?
- 0:26Speaker 4: Forty one?
- 0:30Speaker 3: Forty one? What is the oldest that elite athlete has been?
- 0:35Speaker 4: Tom Brady's forty four? I think NFL QB. That'd be
- 0:38Speaker 4: pretty high up there.
- 0:40Speaker 3: How was Kareem? That's a good question, hos Kareem when
- 0:45Speaker 3: he retired.
- 0:46Speaker 4: Hopkins I think would be the next.
- 0:47Speaker 3: Bernard Hopkins is number one. Yeah, but we were talking
- 0:50Speaker 3: about how he beat Kelly Pavlich forty two.
- 0:54Speaker 1: But Bernard had a couple of years to incubate a
- 0:58Speaker 1: little bit.
- 0:59Speaker 3: Oh yeah, etail about that. Yeah, not take damage and
- 1:05Speaker 3: steal up the mind. He had the most intense discipline.
- 1:09Speaker 3: That guy never got out of shape, which is also
- 1:11Speaker 3: a giant contributor to Longevitor. Never never was building back.
- 1:16Speaker 3: You know, he wasn't like a forty two year old
- 1:18Speaker 3: who was like, you know, he took six months off.
- 1:21Speaker 3: I haven't been in the gym now, but no, no, no,
- 1:24Speaker 3: every day it was running nutrition, everything was always on point,
- 1:29Speaker 3: never varied.
- 1:29Speaker 4: Dream was like forty two.
- 1:31Speaker 3: I think, so he might be the oldest of the
- 1:34Speaker 3: past guys. But this was before all the science, right.
- 1:38Speaker 1: Yeah, science changes things.
- 1:40Speaker 3: Science, So we were just talking about the science. So, Jamie,
- 1:43Speaker 3: what are they allowed to take and not allowed to take?
- 1:45Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 1:47Speaker 4: It's like that. The NBA used to, like, I think
- 1:49Speaker 4: for like weed stuff, they used to say that it's
- 1:51Speaker 4: like they'd get tested. I think like October first, which
- 1:54Speaker 4: is like right when preseason starts for weed. Yeah, and
- 1:56Speaker 4: so like if as long as you were clean on
- 1:58Speaker 4: October first, they're good because they want to test.
- 2:01Speaker 3: The rest of the year. That's ridiculous.
- 2:04Speaker 4: But now i'd like, I know, in the NFL, if
- 2:06Speaker 4: you have a crazy game, you're gonna get tested the
- 2:08Speaker 4: next day. They're just gonna check you for what was
- 2:11Speaker 4: going on with you?
- 2:12Speaker 3: Yes, yeah, why would you play good? Ridiculous.
- 2:14Speaker 4: I don't think the NBA does that specifically, but I
- 2:17Speaker 4: don't know, honestly.
- 2:18Speaker 3: So, what are the rules of the NBA in terms
- 2:20Speaker 3: of marijuana?
- 2:22Speaker 4: Now?
- 2:22Speaker 3: I thought that was part of the thing that they
- 2:23Speaker 3: negotiated in the contract to make sure because a lot
- 2:26Speaker 3: of players like to be high when they play.
- 2:29Speaker 4: I think they might. They might just have just stopped
- 2:31Speaker 4: testing for it as all.
- 2:33Speaker 3: I want to mention names. But I'm friends with some
- 2:35Speaker 3: guys and they tell me they can't play unless they're high.
- 2:40Speaker 3: That's the same thing with pool players. I know a
- 2:41Speaker 3: lot of pool players. They like to get lit before
- 2:45Speaker 3: they get on the table.
- 2:46Speaker 1: Yeah, poo, pool shit, you should be playing pool.
- 2:49Speaker 3: Yeah, you feel things better? Here we go. NBA can
- 2:52Speaker 3: randomly drug test each player up to four times during
- 2:54Speaker 3: the season and two times in the offseason, with additional
- 2:57Speaker 3: test allowed anytime there is reasonable car but marijuana is
- 3:01Speaker 3: no longer part of the standard testing panel. Yes, sir, Yeah,
- 3:05Speaker 3: so they can smoke weed, which makes sense. Let them
- 3:08Speaker 3: it's not what are you doing, It's not hurting anybody,
- 3:11Speaker 3: and they play better with it. I think leave them alone,
- 3:14Speaker 3: That's what I think. Unless they're doing unless they're doing math,
- 3:18Speaker 3: unless they're doing you know what I mean.
- 3:20Speaker 4: They also had another big betting scandal is kind of
- 3:23Speaker 4: broken recently twenty four hours there oh No. A player
- 3:28Speaker 4: has been called out for throwing at least four games.
- 3:33Speaker 3: And then where.
- 3:34Speaker 4: That's gonna go from here is kind of being speculated online.
- 3:36Speaker 3: I'll tell you where that goes. If people find out
- 3:39Speaker 3: that goes to bullets, that's the problem. The problem with
- 3:42Speaker 3: someone throwing a game is somebody bet on that fucking game.
- 3:46Speaker 3: A lot of people bet.
- 3:47Speaker 4: On cases I've seen though, are like the overse like
- 3:50Speaker 4: they had player props and like he needed four point
- 3:52Speaker 4: five rebounds and he has four, and he's just trying extremely, extremely,
- 3:56Speaker 4: extremely hard to get that extra rebound, which is like.
- 4:00Speaker 3: Wait about that. That means he's playing well.
- 4:02Speaker 4: The other one, which was, uh, he was fixing a
- 4:04Speaker 4: spread at like in the last second, Like he sprinted
- 4:07Speaker 4: down the court to get an extra basket with like
- 4:09Speaker 4: three seconds on the clock when they were down by
- 4:10Speaker 4: ten or seven technically to beat the eight and a
- 4:13Speaker 4: half point spread.
- 4:15Speaker 3: Yeah, but so what he's just scoring? How can you ever?
- 4:19Speaker 4: It's just as when you watch basketball enough, you go like,
- 4:22Speaker 4: that doesn't happen that awful?
- 4:23Speaker 3: Why would you do that?
- 4:26Speaker 5: Especial you used to people throwing the ball and yeah,
- 4:29Speaker 5: just throwing it down there, not you running down I know,
- 4:32Speaker 5: but if.
- 4:32Speaker 3: You can do it and score, why do you do it?
- 4:35Speaker 3: I don't even understand why anybody would question that.
- 4:37Speaker 1: You down by ten, it's five seconds to go the game.
- 4:40Speaker 3: You want that ball in the net?
- 4:43Speaker 5: You man, no, what why because that's not going to change.
- 4:49Speaker 1: Oh we lost by eight.
- 4:52Speaker 3: Just means if you're competitive to the end, you never
- 4:55Speaker 3: give up. And even though you know you're losing.
- 4:57Speaker 5: And no starters on the floor at this time, you
- 5:00Speaker 5: down by team is five seconds ago, No, no stought
- 5:03Speaker 5: is on.
- 5:04Speaker 3: But it's not like he's missing on purpose. So it's
- 5:08Speaker 3: one thing if the guy's like missing on purpose, but
- 5:10Speaker 3: if he's scoring on purpose.
- 5:13Speaker 4: All right, it's a similar thing. World Cup just happened
- 5:16Speaker 4: like two three nights ago, where they just got under
- 5:19Speaker 4: the knockout round, you know, so that the big tournament
- 5:21Speaker 4: was every team plays three games to figure out where
- 5:23Speaker 4: you figure where you end up to play the next
- 5:26Speaker 4: part of the tournament. Ten teams get eliminated.
- 5:28Speaker 3: Uh huh uh.
- 5:29Speaker 4: Third place teams for the first time ever can make
- 5:31Speaker 4: it through. And so there was a I think it
- 5:33Speaker 4: was Algeria and I forget the other team, sorry, but
- 5:37Speaker 4: if they both tied, they both move through. If one
- 5:41Speaker 4: team wins and one team loses, one team goes through
- 5:44Speaker 4: and then they like with four minutes to go in
- 5:46Speaker 4: the game, they're kind of just passing the ball around.
- 5:48Speaker 4: The scores tied, and one team goes ahead and scores,
- 5:51Speaker 4: and it kind of starts to fight on the field
- 5:53Speaker 4: where you see the other team yelling at the other
- 5:55Speaker 4: team like fuck you. Like I don't know exactly what
- 5:57Speaker 4: they're saying, but like what like when it was like
- 6:01Speaker 4: two minutes to go, the other team sort of just
- 6:03Speaker 4: stops playing defense and kind of seems to like let
- 6:05Speaker 4: them score.
- 6:06Speaker 3: Oh God, it's like that. How do don't they have
- 6:15Speaker 3: mics on those guys? It's such a they have to
- 6:18Speaker 3: have mics on somebody. They have strong mics now, and
- 6:21Speaker 3: they have people that can lip read, they can pick
- 6:24Speaker 3: up Hey, motherfucker, are you supposed to leave this at tie?
- 6:27Speaker 3: If that happens, like you can't play anymore? Right, Like
- 6:30Speaker 3: what happens to those guys, they have to get suspended.
- 6:32Speaker 4: For That'd be the entire That'd be both teams, the coaches,
- 6:34Speaker 4: it'd be everybody. I don't know, I don't really know
- 6:37Speaker 4: how it's going to pan out, but it was very.
- 6:39Speaker 3: What a conundrum. How could you do that? Like I
- 6:45Speaker 3: hate that this is what this is what I don't
- 6:48Speaker 3: like about sports betting, not that because that's about advancing,
- 6:51Speaker 3: but about sports betting is the even the consideration that
- 6:55Speaker 3: a person is playing a certain way because they're worried
- 6:58Speaker 3: about a spread, or because they've been paid off to
- 7:01Speaker 3: not score, or they've been paid off to foul. You know,
- 7:05Speaker 3: Like there's the problem with these things is you could
- 7:07Speaker 3: bet on anything.
- 7:09Speaker 1: You can bet on anything.
- 7:10Speaker 3: Anything, anything. So if you're a crooked and what has
- 7:15Speaker 3: been like the most crooked aspect of the fucking human
- 7:18Speaker 3: race over the past like one hundred years, other than
- 7:21Speaker 3: the legal system, the most crooked aspect there's been sports betting.
- 7:26Speaker 3: It's always crooked sports.
- 7:28Speaker 1: Some politics, politics the same.
- 7:31Speaker 3: Yeah, it's the same. It's money, it's anywhere anytime, it's
- 7:34Speaker 3: money involved, and decisions can be shifted, influence can be
- 7:37Speaker 3: used to make something happen.
- 7:39Speaker 5: But it seems like that with with most things that
- 7:43Speaker 5: people you know have some type of you know, hierarchy,
- 7:48Speaker 5: desire for they they they gonna put something in, you know,
- 7:53Speaker 5: like even with like awards in gay this is a
- 7:58Speaker 5: who can promote the best, who can if you can
- 8:01Speaker 5: take all the people that vote to dinner and you know,
- 8:10Speaker 5: muse them at dinner. It's going to be a thing
- 8:14Speaker 5: where who's going to beat you when you have all
- 8:17Speaker 5: the voters or you have a situation where you have
- 8:20Speaker 5: people that work for your company that can vote.
- 8:23Speaker 1: What I'm saying, who how are you not going to
- 8:26Speaker 1: vote for the project that the company put out?
- 8:29Speaker 3: Right?
- 8:30Speaker 1: Yeah, you know we got sixty voters, you know, so
- 8:32Speaker 1: we at least got sixty votes.
- 8:35Speaker 3: I think you said it best when you said the hierarchy.
- 8:37Speaker 3: That's really what it is. It's in anything that has
- 8:39Speaker 3: any kind of a hierarchy. Politics is the ultimate example.
- 8:42Speaker 1: Politics is the ultimate ultimate example.
- 8:45Speaker 3: But there's there's that hierarchy shit in everything in the world,
- 8:49Speaker 3: everything and trips people up.
- 8:51Speaker 5: But with politics it is a little more detrimental than
- 8:56Speaker 5: with sports. You know, sports sports is you know, you
- 8:58Speaker 5: gambling people trying to win things. But with politics, it's
- 9:02Speaker 5: like if you not, somebody that's not qualified can be
- 9:10Speaker 5: in a position where you know, they make a decisions
- 9:14Speaker 5: on the masses of people's lives.
- 9:16Speaker 3: Not just that they can appoint judges, which is they
- 9:19Speaker 3: can appoint crazy judges, Like there's obviously judges like they
- 9:23Speaker 3: have disputes, Well, why do they have disputes because they're
- 9:26Speaker 3: ideologically captured on both sides. There's people that are like,
- 9:30Speaker 3: you know, like certain right wing judges. You throw some
- 9:33Speaker 3: case out there that's a right wing case, what abortion rights,
- 9:37Speaker 3: whatever it is, immigration, you know how they're going to vote.
- 9:39Speaker 3: Same thing with left wing people, like hardcore left wing people.
- 9:43Speaker 3: You guarantee trans women in sports, trans women or women
- 9:46Speaker 3: let play in sports. That was a recent Supreme Court order.
- 9:49Speaker 3: Three judges said that trans women should be able to
- 9:53Speaker 3: play in women's sports. The rest of them said fuck no.
- 9:56Speaker 3: Six canceled it out luckily.
- 9:58Speaker 5: And you know those people are not take into account
- 10:02Speaker 5: the sport like it's a difference if you was originally
- 10:06Speaker 5: something and now you're playing is something else.
- 10:09Speaker 1: Your strength is different everything.
- 10:11Speaker 5: And you know you don't feel that until your daughter
- 10:14Speaker 5: get knocked out the ring when she's supposed to be
- 10:17Speaker 5: boxing somebody that that's the same agenda, and then now
- 10:20Speaker 5: she's holds out.
- 10:21Speaker 1: Our phase broke from You know.
- 10:23Speaker 3: It's insane, it's insane, it's and it's not cruel to
- 10:26Speaker 3: not let that happen in sports. That's what Title nine
- 10:28Speaker 3: is about in the first place. Give women the opportunity
- 10:31Speaker 3: to play in an equal time as men. That's that's
- 10:35Speaker 3: a good thing. Having men that think they're women play
- 10:38Speaker 3: with women is fucking crazy, Like what do it doesn't mean,
- 10:42Speaker 3: you know, you need to castles people out of society,
- 10:44Speaker 3: doesn't mean anything. You live and let live. I agree,
- 10:48Speaker 3: but get the fuck out of the women's room. Give
- 10:51Speaker 3: a dick if you get the fuck off the team.
- 10:53Speaker 3: You're you're running track at a literal a women's Olympic
- 10:57Speaker 3: level and you're fifteen. Why because you have a dick?
- 11:00Speaker 3: This is crazy. You're not really a girl. This is nuts.
- 11:03Speaker 1: You know.
- 11:03Speaker 5: That's the that's the world we live in. And what's
- 11:07Speaker 5: I'm not even gonna say that's the world we live in.
- 11:09Speaker 5: That's the world that's being presented to us at this point.
- 11:11Speaker 5: That that's right, you know, and it's you know, it's
- 11:14Speaker 5: a lot of things. It's like this man, you this
- 11:18Speaker 5: is why in comedy I choose not to go the
- 11:23Speaker 5: current of the current affail or the political route, because
- 11:27Speaker 5: I don't have time to separate the room. I'm too
- 11:30Speaker 5: busy trying to do things to bring the room together.
- 11:33Speaker 5: And that's more of a righteous aim for me.
- 11:38Speaker 3: Well, you I said this before I also say it live publicly.
- 11:41Speaker 3: What you've done is very extraordinary because you've made a
- 11:44Speaker 3: giant following online completely organically. It's very inspiring because all
- 11:50Speaker 3: you do is just do your thing the best that
- 11:52Speaker 3: you can and put it out there and it just
- 11:54Speaker 3: keeps growing. It's amazing, it's very it's very cool, it's
- 11:58Speaker 3: very inspirational, and it's you should be proud of it
- 12:01Speaker 3: because what you've done, like I said, it's totally organic.
- 12:05Speaker 3: Like you don't have a bunch of production companies pushing
- 12:09Speaker 3: you and trying to make you more popular than you are. No,
- 12:12Speaker 3: it's all just putting it out there and getting this
- 12:16Speaker 3: gigantic following just from your work. Just the work.
- 12:19Speaker 5: Appreciate it. And then you know, even with that, you
- 12:21Speaker 5: still have some type of responsibility to not see things
- 12:28Speaker 5: the same as other people. Like what I just got
- 12:31Speaker 5: all this flack about me talking about the how this
- 12:37Speaker 5: business of people inflating things has caused depression in comics.
- 12:43Speaker 5: You know that we're supposed to be a happy craft,
- 12:47Speaker 5: but now it's this big push about if you're not
- 12:50Speaker 5: on social media, you're not on this, You're not on
- 12:52Speaker 5: a lot of these comics are you know? Going through
- 12:54Speaker 5: this mental health thing where they always sad about their numbers,
- 12:59Speaker 5: you know, or this that and the third like yo, man,
- 13:02Speaker 5: it is a it's a thing, and some people inflate
- 13:05Speaker 5: things and everybody wants to be on the same level.
- 13:09Speaker 5: So sometimes you you can't be oh you can, but
- 13:16Speaker 5: people look at it as a certain way where when
- 13:18Speaker 5: you're proud of the steps that you've taken. And if
- 13:22Speaker 5: I played in the G League, that's not the NBA.
- 13:26Speaker 5: So I wouldn't say that I was playing I played
- 13:28Speaker 5: in the league because I know what the league means.
- 13:30Speaker 5: I know, you know, I know this says this is
- 13:33Speaker 5: the G League. But when I present myself, yo, you know,
- 13:36Speaker 5: I play in the league, people automatically think the NBA.
- 13:40Speaker 5: You know, it's not it's not. The G League is
- 13:43Speaker 5: not and not knocking the G League, but that's not
- 13:45Speaker 5: the first thing that comes to my mind, you know,
- 13:49Speaker 5: you know, it's just playing for the Washington Generals is
- 13:53Speaker 5: not the NBA. Even though you played against the Globe Driers,
- 13:57Speaker 5: they were great players. We know how this game goes.
- 14:01Speaker 5: But people, that's how people see things.
- 14:03Speaker 1: Now.
- 14:04Speaker 3: Well, the number things is real. The numbers thing is
- 14:07Speaker 3: a real problem with people because it gives you a
- 14:10Speaker 3: quantifiable measure of whether or not you're doing well. And
- 14:14Speaker 3: if you already have anxiety, which a lot of comedians have,
- 14:17Speaker 3: you're already like socially awkward, which a lot of comedians are.
- 14:21Speaker 3: You don't feel accepted, how a lot of comedians feel.
- 14:24Speaker 3: And then you look at those numbers, You're like, twenty
- 14:26Speaker 3: four hundred. I only have twenty four hundred followers. I've
- 14:29Speaker 3: been doing comedy for seven years. Why do I only
- 14:31Speaker 3: have twenty four hundred follower And then you go to
- 14:33Speaker 3: someone's page that you never even heard of, that one
- 14:35Speaker 3: point two million, You're like, what the fuck?
- 14:38Speaker 5: And so this is about being grateful in the position
- 14:43Speaker 5: that you're in. I remember when they would people was
- 14:47Speaker 5: pushing me how you need to get on the in ande,
- 14:49Speaker 5: that you need to be on social media to be okay.
- 14:52Speaker 5: But I would see those people that had all those followers,
- 14:56Speaker 5: and that same year, the year before that, I did
- 14:59Speaker 5: a half hour special Comedy Central. Then year twenty eighteen,
- 15:03Speaker 5: I did a full hour was special for Comedy Central.
- 15:05Speaker 1: I had.
- 15:08Speaker 5: Five hundred followers on Instagram, I had three hundred followers,
- 15:14Speaker 5: three hundred subscribers on YouTube, on a page that I
- 15:17Speaker 5: didn't own I had to fight to get this page.
- 15:20Speaker 5: I had less people on Facebook, but I was efficient
- 15:25Speaker 5: in what I was doing, So the numbers didn't. They
- 15:30Speaker 5: didn't pick me because I had these numbers. They picked
- 15:33Speaker 5: me because I came and I did what I did,
- 15:36Speaker 5: and then they.
- 15:37Speaker 1: Oh, he's great.
- 15:38Speaker 5: So then we started going, you know, a route to
- 15:42Speaker 5: build it up, but we were already getting things prior
- 15:46Speaker 5: to the numbers, right, were years this again, this is
- 15:48Speaker 5: seventeen and eighteen.
- 15:50Speaker 3: Okay, So the difference is that in seventeen and eighteen,
- 15:54Speaker 3: people were just starting to be aware of the power
- 15:58Speaker 3: of social media, and then they were really concentrating on
- 16:03Speaker 3: different comics that had a large social media following. You know,
- 16:06Speaker 3: I think that was like right when it first started happening.
- 16:09Speaker 1: Dane Cook had blew up before that.
- 16:10Speaker 3: That was a yeah, that was a MySpace.
- 16:12Speaker 1: That was a MySpace, the internet another Internet.
- 16:15Speaker 3: Tr that's true, that was different, but the differences, like
- 16:18Speaker 3: he had gotten so huge just from that that he
- 16:21Speaker 3: was already doing like arenas and when they so he
- 16:26Speaker 3: was already huge and then they just went with him.
- 16:28Speaker 3: But he was like super popular. Now it's like super
- 16:31Speaker 3: popular on social media. It's one of the most important things.
- 16:35Speaker 5: So now now moving up to this because I have
- 16:38Speaker 5: a strong m with this. So I have a million
- 16:42Speaker 5: follows here, million followers there, all these specials, I still
- 16:45Speaker 5: didn't get invited to the BT Awards. I still didn't
- 16:48Speaker 5: get I still don't get invited to a bunch of things.
- 16:51Speaker 5: I still get looked over for things, even though I
- 16:54Speaker 5: have numbers and success.
- 16:55Speaker 1: But I don't worry about it.
- 16:56Speaker 5: I'm just in my I'm not watching to judge my
- 17:00Speaker 5: self against what somebody else is doing. It's guys who
- 17:02Speaker 5: have less everything, but they're in this in this realm
- 17:07Speaker 5: where they they had every day, had everything. I see
- 17:10Speaker 5: guys is at everything with no with no specials and
- 17:15Speaker 5: no proven thing. They just around and I'm like, okay,
- 17:19Speaker 5: but it's I'm not I think the point that I'm
- 17:22Speaker 5: not judging myself up against what somebody is doing socially.
- 17:26Speaker 3: But that's also easier when you're successful, and you're successful,
- 17:31Speaker 3: you're very successful. So the difference is like when you
- 17:33Speaker 3: sell out these shows and you put out these specials,
- 17:36Speaker 3: like I've seen your specials have millions of views, so
- 17:39Speaker 3: it's like, obviously you have a following. If you didn't
- 17:42Speaker 3: and you were doing the same thing, then it'ld be

- 19:18Speaker 5: compare myself to somebody else else, make myself seem like
- 19:22Speaker 5: I'm more than what it is. Like Guys, hey man,
- 19:26Speaker 5: I got I'm at this room. I got fifty tickets sold, Okay,
- 19:32Speaker 5: how much the room? See the room seat three hundred? Okay, cool?
- 19:36Speaker 5: You have fifty people more than you have then if
- 19:40Speaker 5: you didn't play the room. You know what I'm saying,
- 19:42Speaker 5: because who knows you in Utah?
- 19:44Speaker 1: Your building?
- 19:45Speaker 5: It's a building thing Like I got all of this,
- 19:49Speaker 5: all of this going on. But if I go to Utah,
- 19:53Speaker 5: I'm in a comedy club. It doesn't matter what happened
- 19:57Speaker 5: the night before. I was just an arena. But in
- 19:59Speaker 5: you tall it's like it takes me back to on
- 20:02Speaker 5: trading places. I'm saying, he said, hey, man, this is
- 20:06Speaker 5: he gave. He gives all this elaborate what this watch is,
- 20:09Speaker 5: and that man said, this is what this calls in saying,
- 20:11Speaker 5: Look like, I don't care about you pawning the watch.
- 20:15Speaker 5: I'm saying, so I don't have that, and I'm not
- 20:20Speaker 5: if I It's like you you you own a club, Okay,
- 20:23Speaker 5: it's guys that can come to your club and sell
- 20:26Speaker 5: your club out. And then it's guys that come to
- 20:29Speaker 5: the club and you pay for the room. Okay, then
- 20:32Speaker 5: there's guys like when you're in the theater.
- 20:35Speaker 1: Some you can scale a theater down.
- 20:38Speaker 5: Some theaters hold forty six hundred people, but you can
- 20:41Speaker 5: scale it down to two thousand. But then the I'm
- 20:46Speaker 5: not going to say, if the room holds forty six hundred,
- 20:50Speaker 5: I put two thousand tickets on sale. I didn't sell
- 20:53Speaker 5: out the theater. I sold what I put on sale.
- 20:59Speaker 5: You know what I'm saying, Because I'm not to the
- 21:01Speaker 5: point where I can get the forty six hundred. Yet
- 21:03Speaker 5: if I could sell the room out, then I would
- 21:06Speaker 5: need to relish the real accomplishment versus the the lesser accomplishment. Yeah,
- 21:13Speaker 5: and that's and because I don't have this thing where
- 21:18Speaker 5: I'm in competition with what happened before me, you.
- 21:23Speaker 3: Know, so with people.
- 21:24Speaker 5: So I'm in San Antonio, we at we're at the theater.
- 21:29Speaker 5: And because people can make you feel bad about anything.
- 21:32Speaker 5: If you if you a person that feels bad, just
- 21:35Speaker 5: think Minnesota. It's it's all these people that's on the
- 21:41Speaker 5: team that that play for the Boston Celtics that are millionaires.
- 21:45Speaker 1: They already millionaires, they play in the league.
- 21:48Speaker 5: Boston traded seven people to Minnesota for one person, Kevin Garnett.
- 21:58Speaker 1: They got rid of seven human being for one person.
- 22:03Speaker 5: So it's like, if I was a person that felt
- 22:06Speaker 5: bad about my career, this would would make me feel bad.
- 22:09Speaker 5: Like they they like the first person that they the
- 22:11Speaker 5: oklaha'ma trade this person for that?
- 22:13Speaker 1: They're like, no, Well, I'm gonna give you two more people.
- 22:15Speaker 1: They're like no, and then I'm.
- 22:17Speaker 5: Gonna give you four more people like okay, and and
- 22:21Speaker 5: and a lottery pick. Okay, I'm gonna feel horrible.
- 22:26Speaker 1: They traded me for seven people.
- 22:27Speaker 5: Y'all don't even want me realistically, So Boston went they
- 22:32Speaker 5: got Kevin Garnett. I mean, what's this. Yeah, Kevin Garnett
- 22:36Speaker 5: and seven other millionaires. They got all this money. This
- 22:40Speaker 5: got all this They went to Minnesota, you know what I'm saying.
- 22:44Speaker 5: So if somebody wanted to make you feel bad about something,
- 22:48Speaker 5: you know, they they could if that's how you are.
- 22:51Speaker 5: So I'm at I'm in San Antonio. The line is
- 22:54Speaker 5: around the block. The place is sold out. It's the
- 22:57Speaker 5: same sell out no matter who comes. Like that, lady
- 23:01Speaker 5: said to my face tomorrow, you should have saw when
- 23:03Speaker 5: mad Rife came.
- 23:09Speaker 3: Ain't my mind like?
- 23:10Speaker 5: And I asked, I say, was it a different theater?
- 23:12Speaker 5: She said, no, same theater. So when Matt Rife came,
- 23:16Speaker 5: he sold it out. I sold out two nights, I
- 23:19Speaker 5: mean two days in the same night.
- 23:21Speaker 1: But her thing was, you should have saw when mad
- 23:24Speaker 1: Rife came.
- 23:25Speaker 3: I was like, Okay, she probably wanted you to feel bad.
- 23:29Speaker 3: It's like, but I'm not good for you. Good for you.
- 23:31Speaker 3: But the thing is a lot of people would That's
- 23:33Speaker 3: what it is. A lot of people are in competition
- 23:36Speaker 3: with other people. I think you should be inspired by
- 23:38Speaker 3: other people, you know, if you want to compete in
- 23:40Speaker 3: that way, be inspired but the moment you turn it
- 23:43Speaker 3: into a negative, it's like, are you're you're a fool,
- 23:45Speaker 3: You're being a fool.
- 23:46Speaker 1: Competing charity.
- 23:47Speaker 3: Also, inspiration is power. It's fuel. You see someone doing well,
- 23:52Speaker 3: so you see someone set and you like it. That's
- 23:55Speaker 3: fuel that makes you want to go work, makes you
- 23:57Speaker 3: want to get some shit done, makes you It gives
- 24:00Speaker 3: you energy, or it could cripple you if you're a dummy.
- 24:04Speaker 3: If you're a dummy and you get angry and you
- 24:07Speaker 3: get bitter, and then you just put all this negativity
- 24:09Speaker 3: on the person who's doing better than you, which is
- 24:11Speaker 3: a lot of people do.
- 24:13Speaker 1: That's so weird.
- 24:15Speaker 5: That's a weird dynamics in this business when you know
- 24:18Speaker 5: that it's going to be people, no matter what you're doing,
- 24:22Speaker 5: it's going to be somebody doing better than you. When
- 24:25Speaker 5: I was in comedy clubs, I remember being there and
- 24:30Speaker 5: they were paper in the room. Okay, I wasn't saying
- 24:36Speaker 5: I was selling out, they was papering. I know, out
- 24:38Speaker 5: of all of its three hundred people in here, two
- 24:41Speaker 5: hundred and forty of these people came because it was
- 24:44Speaker 5: it was freezing. They sent out they email blast.
- 24:48Speaker 1: But then what I looked at was they wanted to come.
- 24:52Speaker 3: Yeah, it wanted to come to probably comedy fans, which
- 24:55Speaker 3: is why they're on the email list in the first place.
- 24:58Speaker 3: And then those people, you give them great show, they'll
- 25:00Speaker 3: come back.
- 25:01Speaker 5: Then the next time I came, they didn't pay for
- 25:04Speaker 5: the room. They sold it. They sold the tickets.
- 25:06Speaker 3: That's how it used to be. Man, that was the
- 25:08Speaker 3: old days, before social media. You would build a market,
- 25:11Speaker 3: so you would just show up at Philadelphia once a year,
- 25:13Speaker 3: show up, do your homework, like, make sure you got
- 25:17Speaker 3: a tight set, you've been practicing, you're ready to rock.
- 25:20Speaker 3: You fuck these people up, and then leave and then
- 25:23Speaker 3: they're like, can't wait till you guys are back again.
- 25:25Speaker 3: And then next time you come back, you know, all right,
- 25:28Speaker 3: I built an audience. Now I can't disappoint these people.
- 25:31Speaker 3: I gotta get fired up. And that's what it used
- 25:33Speaker 3: to be. It used to be a totally organic thing
- 25:35Speaker 3: across the whole country.
- 25:37Speaker 1: Is it a thing?
- 25:38Speaker 5: Is it a difference in your opinion, between me bringing
- 25:43Speaker 5: my audience to a venue from whatever other thing that
- 25:49Speaker 5: I do, versus people coming that don't know anything about me,
- 25:56Speaker 5: and me winning that person over versus the It's.
- 26:00Speaker 3: Different Yeah, it's a different thing. You know people are
- 26:02Speaker 3: coming to see you specifically you've already won them over.
- 26:05Speaker 3: That's a different thing. Or they want to take a
- 26:08Speaker 3: chance on you. That's a different thing because I've heard
- 26:09Speaker 3: about you. But when you know, that's a completely different
- 26:13Speaker 3: thing because that's your You have an audience. Now, you
- 26:16Speaker 3: have fans. When you are just performing at a club
- 26:19Speaker 3: and it's a papered room, you have an opportunity. You
- 26:23Speaker 3: have an opportunity to turn these people into fans. You
- 26:25Speaker 3: have an opportunity to give these people a great night
- 26:27Speaker 3: and have a good time. And also you're doing your
- 26:29Speaker 3: fucking thing, which is the most important thing of all.
- 26:32Speaker 3: Everybody is results oriented. I try to be process oriented
- 26:36Speaker 3: when I with everything I do, I'm process oriented. I
- 26:39Speaker 3: think about there's a goal that you got to reach,
- 26:42Speaker 3: but how do you get to that goal. The way
- 26:45Speaker 3: you get there is not thinking about the goal. The
- 26:47Speaker 3: way you get there is thinking about what you're doing.
- 26:50Speaker 3: What's the process. The process is writing bits, performing them,
- 26:55Speaker 3: tweaking them, getting them tight, knowing, reviewing tapes, going over
- 26:59Speaker 3: your material. You're going over your writing, talking with friends,
- 27:02Speaker 3: and then every day it gets a little bigger. Every day,
- 27:05Speaker 3: it gets a little better. Every day, that knife gets
- 27:07Speaker 3: a little sharper. That's the process. That's the process that
- 27:11Speaker 3: leads you to become whoever whoever.
- 27:13Speaker 5: You are, and then you add other low pieces in
- 27:16Speaker 5: that process. I remember I was talking to Bobby Lee
- 27:20Speaker 5: and me and Bobby Lee talking. I said, Bobby, you
- 27:24Speaker 5: don't realize where you met me at. And He's like, well,
- 27:27Speaker 5: it's just a good it's going to be a good
- 27:29Speaker 5: story as a bad stories. I said, you met me
- 27:34Speaker 5: at at the Houston Improv. And they called me and
- 27:39Speaker 5: asked me, did I want to host a room that
- 27:42Speaker 5: I already sell out? You know what I'm saying. They
- 27:44Speaker 5: asked me that I want to host. I said cool.
- 27:47Speaker 5: So I came and I hosted and I was not
- 27:52Speaker 5: trying to, but I was destroying his feature. I'm just hosting.
- 27:57Speaker 3: We should not be hosting, and especially at the Houston Improv.
- 28:01Speaker 1: But my thing was this is years this is years ago.
- 28:04Speaker 5: But I say, Bobby, you didn't understand when the when
- 28:07Speaker 5: I was hosting at the Houston Improv, I was doing
- 28:11Speaker 5: something that most people didn't understand why I was even
- 28:14Speaker 5: doing it, well, like what and they would see like
- 28:16Speaker 5: why would you be hosting, I said, because I'm not
- 28:18Speaker 5: going to be in front of Bobby Lee's audience. But
- 28:21Speaker 5: it's people that live in Houston, that his audience that
- 28:24Speaker 5: I have no idea, that have no idea who I am,
- 28:27Speaker 5: I said, Bobby. But before you, I said, I was
- 28:30Speaker 5: coming to the Houston improv hosting for multiple people, and
- 28:35Speaker 5: I was just winning over fans that would never have
- 28:40Speaker 5: seen me. If they wasn't coming to see you, they
- 28:42Speaker 5: wouldn't be coming to my show.
- 28:43Speaker 1: I said.
- 28:44Speaker 5: So before that it was you were last Bobby, it
- 28:47Speaker 5: was you, and the week prior to that it was
- 28:50Speaker 5: Monster Brownie, and the week prior to that was what's
- 28:55Speaker 5: my girl?
- 28:58Speaker 3: Angela?
- 28:59Speaker 5: Johnson answered Johnson. And before that it was some random
- 29:05Speaker 5: white guy. I said, I just came and I want
- 29:10Speaker 5: to do. I'm a comic, so me hosting was no
- 29:13Speaker 5: big deal. I wasn't working, so I said, well, let
- 29:15Speaker 5: me just come hosted. That's what they want me to do.
- 29:17Speaker 5: So I gained fans from four different audiences in a month.
- 29:23Speaker 1: So when I came.
- 29:24Speaker 5: Back, they was like, yo, I saw you with mars
- 29:27Speaker 5: Jebranni and so I came back. I came back to
- 29:29Speaker 5: see you when you when you put your show up.
- 29:31Speaker 1: I'm like cool.
- 29:33Speaker 5: So my process that was a part of my process.
- 29:36Speaker 5: It didn't matter who I hosted for. And then I
- 29:39Speaker 5: was like, okay, cool, you know, let me let me go.
- 29:42Speaker 5: Like when I.
- 29:43Speaker 1: Hosted for Bill Burr. Bill Burr was like, this is crazy.
- 29:49Speaker 5: We had we in Austin at the Paramount and I said,
- 29:53Speaker 5: I said, the worst thing about this was that at
- 29:56Speaker 5: the time, I was wearing all black and I went
- 29:58Speaker 5: to the show and when I walked on stage, the
- 30:02Speaker 5: first thing I said is, Hey, I do not work here.
- 30:08Speaker 1: Don't like eight people ask me where's the bathroom?
- 30:11Speaker 3: I don't know, I don't work.
- 30:12Speaker 1: But it was like I look like an usher. Yo.
- 30:17Speaker 1: I'm like, yo, this sucks. But it was a cool game.
- 30:21Speaker 3: Laro. That's a smart approach. I mean, that's a great
- 30:23Speaker 3: way to build, especially if you're already headlining. Yeah. I
- 30:27Speaker 3: think I think that that thing about concentrating on the process,
- 30:30Speaker 3: people should try to apply that to everything. You know,
- 30:35Speaker 3: my friend John Dudley, who taught me archery, he's a
- 30:39Speaker 3: big believer in that being process oriented, like so you
- 30:43Speaker 3: get better at archery, and he used to compete all
- 30:45Speaker 3: over the world travel compete in archery tournaments. I think
- 30:48Speaker 3: that's the I think that applies to everything. I think
- 30:50Speaker 3: that applies to music. I think that applies to everything.
- 30:53Speaker 3: The more I think it's one of the things that
- 30:55Speaker 3: trips people up about social media. A lot of these
- 30:57Speaker 3: young guys, in particular, young people in Particut killer is
- 31:00Speaker 3: that they are thinking about other people, and they are
- 31:03Speaker 3: comparing themselves to other people, and they are looking at
- 31:05Speaker 3: those numbers, and you're you're looking you're spending all of
- 31:09Speaker 3: your energy. If you haven't allotted one hundred units of
- 31:12Speaker 3: energy in a day, you're spending a disproportionate amount on
- 31:17Speaker 3: things that don't empower you and actually kind of fuck
- 31:19Speaker 3: your head up, not good for you at all. Instead
- 31:22Speaker 3: of saying, Wow, I am chasing the fucking dream, right,
- 31:26Speaker 3: I am out here being a professional comedian, and I
- 31:30Speaker 3: have a real chance to develop a real following. If
- 31:33Speaker 3: I put my time in, I put I really care
- 31:35Speaker 3: and I really work hard. I could sell out a
- 31:38Speaker 3: theater one day. That's possible. Like that's a goal. That
- 31:42Speaker 3: should be a goal, just like getting your PhD in
- 31:44Speaker 3: chemistry or whatever the fuck it is. Your goal is.
- 31:47Speaker 3: But the process is what's important. The process is like
- 31:51Speaker 3: appreciating what you're doing, why you're doing it, and just
- 31:54Speaker 3: bearing down and doing your best. That's it.
- 31:57Speaker 1: That's it.
- 31:58Speaker 3: And in other people you look at them as inspiration,
- 32:01Speaker 3: other people that are kicking ass. You know, don't go
- 32:03Speaker 3: don't become a hater. That shit is so bad for you.
- 32:07Speaker 3: I know so many dudes who have like hater tendencies,
- 32:10Speaker 3: and they never excel. Never. It's the the counter thinking
- 32:16Speaker 3: of an excellent person is a hater. Someone is always
- 32:19Speaker 3: trying to diminish people and downplay people and look at
- 32:22Speaker 3: someone in the least charitable way and the worst possible
- 32:25Speaker 3: way to somehow another trying to make themselves feel better.
- 32:27Speaker 3: But it doesn't work. It does the opposite of work.
- 32:30Speaker 3: It robs you. It robs you of your self esteem,
- 32:34Speaker 3: it robs you of your self respect. You spend so
- 32:36Speaker 3: much time thinking about this other dude, like why, it's.
- 32:39Speaker 1: A lot of it's a lot of energy.
- 32:40Speaker 5: And my dad, it's one this is one story that
- 32:43Speaker 5: I did not put in the special that I should have.
- 32:47Speaker 5: And my dad had all these these thoughts and he
- 32:51Speaker 5: was I liveally say he was a crazy man. But
- 32:53Speaker 5: when you think about the things that he would say
- 32:56Speaker 5: made sense my dad, and why would you be telling
- 32:59Speaker 5: me this at the age each that?
- 33:00Speaker 1: But he just gave them.
- 33:02Speaker 5: I think I was like eleven and my dad out
- 33:04Speaker 5: of nowhere and say, you know something, people spend spend
- 33:09Speaker 5: the same time and money on being fake when they
- 33:12Speaker 5: can put put that same time and money into being real. Yeah,
- 33:16Speaker 5: And I'm like, I didn't know, I understand what that meant.
- 33:20Speaker 5: But as I got older, if you spend any money
- 33:26Speaker 5: or time faking something, you could probably spend that money
- 33:31Speaker 5: and time being real about something. You know, why go
- 33:35Speaker 5: buy a fake necklace to attack like you rich when
- 33:41Speaker 5: you can go buy a real necklace what I'm saying
- 33:44Speaker 5: at some point what I'm saying, and you know, be
- 33:48Speaker 5: actually be rich, you know if that's what if you
- 33:50Speaker 5: get compared it to necklaces. But I just didn't understand
- 33:54Speaker 5: it at the time. But then as I got older,
- 33:56Speaker 5: I understood, like, why put this, Why put this time
- 33:59Speaker 5: in and to pretending when you can put that same
- 34:04Speaker 5: energy and then become real at what you do.
- 34:07Speaker 1: And that makes no sense.
- 34:08Speaker 3: My uncle Vinny, when I was six or seven years old,
- 34:13Speaker 3: I was staying at it at his house with my cousins,
- 34:16Speaker 3: and uh, we were we were supposed to brush our teeth,
- 34:19Speaker 3: and I didn't like following rules period, and so I
- 34:22Speaker 3: wouldn't brush my teeth. Instead, I would take toothpaste and
- 34:25Speaker 3: mushing around on my teeth and so that when they
- 34:28Speaker 3: smelled my breath, they would smell toothpaste. And my uncle
- 34:31Speaker 3: explained to me, he goes, he goes, Uh, I understand
- 34:35Speaker 3: why you're doing it, he goes, But the amount of
- 34:37Speaker 3: time that you're spending pretending to brush your teeth, you
- 34:40Speaker 3: could have just brushed your teeth. And I thought about
- 34:42Speaker 3: that when I was six. I was like, damn. I
- 34:45Speaker 3: was just a little kid. But I was like, Hi,
- 34:47Speaker 3: he's right, Why am I faking brushing? My uncle Vinie
- 34:56Speaker 3: was like super patient, super calm at all my my
- 35:00Speaker 3: family members. He was the strangest out of all these wild,
- 35:03Speaker 3: crazy Italian people like he was. He was an artist,
- 35:08Speaker 3: and he was like very soft spoken and never got
- 35:11Speaker 3: angry about anything. I'd always speak really rationally. I was like, God,
- 35:15Speaker 3: he's so smart, it's so peaceful. He just but the
- 35:19Speaker 3: way he laid it out, when he didn't say, Hey,
- 35:20Speaker 3: I know you're not brushing your teeth, you little fuck?
- 35:23Speaker 3: What's that? It was the time you're spending pretending to
- 35:26Speaker 3: brush your teeth. You could have just brushed your teeth.
- 35:29Speaker 3: But it was like sometimes adults will say something to
- 35:31Speaker 3: you like that when you're six, and it just gets
- 35:34Speaker 3: in your head and you're like, whoa, Okay, that just
- 35:38Speaker 3: saved me a whole lot of time to brush them.
- 35:42Speaker 3: Just brush your fucking teeth. Stop pretending. Stop faking. It
- 35:46Speaker 3: doesn't help anything. It does the opposite.
- 35:50Speaker 1: Does the opposite.
- 35:51Speaker 5: And you know, people, the truth sometimes is hurtful to people.
- 35:58Speaker 3: The truth doesn't feel good, you know, to a lot
- 36:01Speaker 3: of people, unfortunately. But you know, you have to look
- 36:05Speaker 3: at it, you have to have perspective.
- 36:08Speaker 1: But that's the ultimate hate right there. That's the ultimate hate,
- 36:13Speaker 1: is for me to give you a falsehood instead of
- 36:15Speaker 1: take you the truth.
- 36:16Speaker 3: Right that's the ultimate It's the ultimate hate, especially if
- 36:20Speaker 3: like you're making up a background for yourself, you're making
- 36:23Speaker 3: up a story about your life that's not true. You're
- 36:27Speaker 3: pretending you're somewhere in life that you're not.
- 36:30Speaker 1: You know, yo, man, just do the thing, Just do
- 36:33Speaker 1: the thing.
- 36:34Speaker 3: But it's hard for people. It's hard for people. And
- 36:37Speaker 3: then there's a lot of people that think you just
- 36:38Speaker 3: fake it until you make it, and then you hear
- 36:41Speaker 3: stories I got I had five hundred dollars in my
- 36:43Speaker 3: bank account, but I told them I got this, I
- 36:46Speaker 3: got that loan, And next thing you know, my business
- 36:49Speaker 3: is making all this money, and you go, wow, he
- 36:51Speaker 3: faked it until he maked it and it worked, and you.
- 36:54Speaker 5: Think so few and forward. Then they never tell you
- 36:59Speaker 5: that that got go was the jail later.
- 37:00Speaker 3: For fraud a hundred percent.
- 37:05Speaker 1: The fans busted my ales three years later and took
- 37:07Speaker 1: everything like, okay.
- 37:09Speaker 3: Exactly like when they arrested carlsmans here recently, fee like
- 37:13Speaker 3: all those counts of tax fraud. I was like, okay,
- 37:17Speaker 3: I don't want that to happen to him, but there
- 37:22Speaker 3: it is, right. I mean, that's what.
- 37:26Speaker 1: I'm not laughing at, Carlos. I'm just laughing the fact
- 37:29Speaker 1: that you like, yeah, yeah, when they busted.
- 37:33Speaker 3: I mean I didn't, I wasn't. Didn't bring me any
- 37:35Speaker 3: joy to see that. I don't like anybody getting arrested
- 37:37Speaker 3: for taxes. I think. I think taxes until they have
- 37:42Speaker 3: an accurate account of where the fucking money goes, and
- 37:47Speaker 3: until you completely eliminate all fraud and waste. What the
- 37:53Speaker 3: fuck are you doing locking people up for not paying taxes?
- 37:57Speaker 3: Like you guys should get locked up for not doing
- 38:00Speaker 3: a good job with our money.
- 38:03Speaker 5: So what did you think about all the new purchases
- 38:05Speaker 5: in redoing the White House and all this with tax dollars?
- 38:09Speaker 3: Did they do with tax dollars? How much money do
- 38:12Speaker 3: they spend in tax dollars to do the ballrooms? We'll
- 38:16Speaker 3: find out. What's that They need a ballroom though? That's
- 38:19Speaker 3: how that guy snuck in with a gun because they
- 38:20Speaker 3: tried to do that White House correspondence dinner in a hotel.
- 38:24Speaker 3: That dude who got arrested a few months back.
- 38:27Speaker 1: What's this? This?
- 38:29Speaker 5: This resolution? The pool? Something full of algae right now
- 38:33Speaker 5: that we spent on.
- 38:34Speaker 3: The Yeah, I don't know about that. That's something about
- 38:36Speaker 3: making the pool look nice. But whatever that is, reflecting pool, yeah,
- 38:40Speaker 3: to reflect. Reports indicate the new White House East Wing
- 38:43Speaker 3: ballroom is projected to cost about six hundred million, with
- 38:46Speaker 3: roughly half just over three hundred million, coming from taxpayer
- 38:49Speaker 3: funded government accounts, despite earlier promises that it would be
- 38:54Speaker 3: taxpayer free. Three hundred millions sounds like a lot until
- 38:57Speaker 3: you find out how much money they spent on other things.
- 39:01Speaker 3: When you find out how much just how much fraud
- 39:04Speaker 3: it is in NGOs, how much fraud is in nonprofits,
- 39:08Speaker 3: how much fraud is in insider trading and propping up
- 39:13Speaker 3: companies so that they can get better deals. Well, the
- 39:16Speaker 3: whole thing is fraud.
- 39:18Speaker 5: The thing is if you spending I understand how much
- 39:23Speaker 5: money goes and other things, but if you spending any
- 39:26Speaker 5: money that that that's my money that I don't know
- 39:30Speaker 5: that I need it or that's not really the aim
- 39:34Speaker 5: the goal.
- 39:34Speaker 3: You should be able to vote on it, you sho
- 39:36Speaker 3: You should be able to vote on where all your
- 39:38Speaker 3: tax money goes.
- 39:38Speaker 5: How much money is, how much tax money is being
- 39:41Speaker 5: spilled to own getting smart people in places of getting
- 39:44Speaker 5: smart making smart children.
- 39:45Speaker 3: That's the big one.
- 39:46Speaker 1: That's the that's the thing.
- 39:48Speaker 3: The big one is if you look at our country
- 39:52Speaker 3: as a community and that's what we're supposed to be doing.
- 39:54Speaker 3: We're supposed to be the United States of America, all
- 39:56Speaker 3: that bull should decide. That was the one good thing
- 39:58Speaker 3: that happened about nine to eleven. When nine to eleven happened,
- 40:01Speaker 3: after that, we were all united. It was crazy. It
- 40:04Speaker 3: was crazy. We realized like we are actually on a team.
- 40:07Speaker 3: So if we're on a team, why do we have
- 40:10Speaker 3: these deeply impoverished neighborhoods for decades and decades that are
- 40:14Speaker 3: riddled with crime and drug abuse? Why is it impossible
- 40:17Speaker 3: to fix That's crazy, that's not true. It's just no
- 40:20Speaker 3: one's tried to fix it. No one's done any effort
- 40:23Speaker 3: to fix it. And if you did fix it, you
- 40:26Speaker 3: want to make America great, here's the best way. Less losers?
- 40:30Speaker 3: And how do you get less losers? More opportunities for people,
- 40:33Speaker 3: more opportunities, more support, more education, more everything that you
- 40:38Speaker 3: need if it was your neighborhood. And if we did that,
- 40:42Speaker 3: we'd have to switch the way our system runs. But
- 40:45Speaker 3: that could be done. Man, they don't have to have losers,
- 40:48Speaker 3: not that many.
- 40:49Speaker 5: That's the thing about make America great, right, If you're
- 40:54Speaker 5: trying to make anything great, don't you need intelligent people
- 40:56Speaker 5: to do that?
- 40:58Speaker 3: Of course?
- 41:00Speaker 1: Number one thing, so when we.
- 41:01Speaker 5: Have all these divisive people that that's on a lower vibration,
- 41:08Speaker 5: how is that making the country the country great? If
- 41:13Speaker 5: we're putting people in position that don't have the experience
- 41:19Speaker 5: or the education in those things, and then we're just
- 41:22Speaker 5: saying a bunch of divisive things.
- 41:25Speaker 1: You know, you know, it's it was if I'm.
- 41:29Speaker 5: Watching the extravaganza that happened in the White House, What.
- 41:34Speaker 1: Was the thing?
- 41:35Speaker 5: Michelle Obama is a man? Like, how did that help?
- 41:38Speaker 5: How did that help?
- 41:39Speaker 3: That guy says that every time he.
- 41:42Speaker 1: But what is the what is the the thing?
- 41:44Speaker 5: First of all, it's it's really divisive because you know
- 41:49Speaker 5: that a large portion of the country's gonna take this,
- 41:52Speaker 5: that's gonna have a problem with this. You know, clearly
- 41:54Speaker 5: she's not a man. You know what I'm saying, But
- 41:57Speaker 5: it makes no sense. Like two, I've never seen this
- 42:01Speaker 5: many people say so many damaging things.
- 42:04Speaker 1: About a past president.
- 42:05Speaker 5: It's like he's still on the forefront and it's not
- 42:09Speaker 5: like we have a president that's doing the greatest job
- 42:12Speaker 5: for this this country. You know, which is which is
- 42:15Speaker 5: weird or weird thing to me? And people going to ask,
- 42:18Speaker 5: is that was the belief? That's the that's the real
- 42:21Speaker 5: belief of people, that's the real thing.
- 42:23Speaker 3: Well, listen, there's some crazy people that believe the world
- 42:26Speaker 3: is flat. There's a lot of dumb beliefs. There's probably
- 42:28Speaker 3: people that do believe Michelle Obama's a man. What that
- 42:31Speaker 3: guy does, He's like a pro wrestler. Like he's got
- 42:34Speaker 3: a character called the Incredible Hulk. It's very corny in
- 42:38Speaker 3: a lot of ways. Sometimes it's you know, cringey. But
- 42:42Speaker 3: the point is he gets a lot of attention, a
- 42:45Speaker 3: lot of attention because of all this. That's what he's doing.
- 42:48Speaker 3: So what he's trying to do is maximize the amount
- 42:51Speaker 3: of attention that he can get for a very short
- 42:53Speaker 3: window of career. This is not how he really feels,
- 42:56Speaker 3: how he really thinks when you talk to him in
- 42:57Speaker 3: real life. Very reasonable. This is an act that he does,
- 43:00Speaker 3: like a pro wrestling act. But what he can do
- 43:04Speaker 3: is fight. He's really good, and that's what's so confusing
- 43:07Speaker 3: about it all. So you got this guy who's created
- 43:10Speaker 3: like this fake persona where he puts on an American
- 43:12Speaker 3: flag bandan it comes out the Haul Cogan music does
- 43:15Speaker 3: all his interviews with sunglasses on, has a bunch of crazy,
- 43:18Speaker 3: silly rhymes and says ridiculous shit, just trying to get attention,
- 43:22Speaker 3: the most amount of attention. So it is very divisive,
- 43:25Speaker 3: don't get me wrong, but that's by design.
- 43:27Speaker 1: So he's Haul Hogan and Randy Savage in the same.
- 43:31Speaker 3: Actual fighter a really fucking good one man. He just
- 43:34Speaker 3: knocked out Derek Lewis at the White House. Derek Lewis
- 43:37Speaker 3: has the most knockouts in the history of that.
- 43:38Speaker 5: Don't don't, don't, don't do that, don't do that, don't
- 43:41Speaker 5: do what this, don't don't, don't say that's so excited
- 43:45Speaker 5: because Derek Lewis goes to the same gym on Main
- 43:48Speaker 5: Street boxing Jimmy Houston.
- 43:49Speaker 1: I'm very close to that, dude.
- 43:50Speaker 3: I love Derek.
- 43:51Speaker 1: I don't like the fact that Derek Lewis lost that fight.
- 43:54Speaker 3: I think is Derek Derek of ten years ago would
- 43:58Speaker 3: have been a real fucking problem for dude, because Derek
- 44:01Speaker 3: of ten years ago, you couldn't hold him down. He
- 44:02Speaker 3: would just get up. There's a whole compilation of people
- 44:06Speaker 3: trying to hold Derek Lewis down. He just gets a
- 44:08Speaker 3: hand on you and just whoop his grip. They did
- 44:12Speaker 3: that UFC grip thing where they test the grip. Everybody's
- 44:15Speaker 3: like one forty. The strong ones are like one sixty one.
- 44:18Speaker 3: Night Derek just squeezed it casual to eighteen and they
- 44:22Speaker 3: were like, what the fuck?
- 44:24Speaker 5: So you see how problematic this was for me? You
- 44:26Speaker 5: already beat my friend. Then you turn around and.
- 44:29Speaker 3: Say he beat a forty year old Derek.
- 44:31Speaker 5: A forty old Derek Lewis didn't turn around and say
- 44:34Speaker 5: Michelle Obama's man.
- 44:35Speaker 3: I was like, Okay, you know what you're saying.
- 44:37Speaker 1: I'm pissed.
- 44:38Speaker 3: You're right. Listen, you're right. But I'm telling you, if
- 44:42Speaker 3: you met that dude in real life, you would get it.
- 44:45Speaker 3: He's just a dude. He's just a guy who is
- 44:47Speaker 3: a competitive wrestler, played in the NFL, and he's like,
- 44:51Speaker 3: I got to do something to figure out how to
- 44:54Speaker 3: get people to pay attention to me, because it can't
- 44:56Speaker 3: just be fighting. It's not enough. If you look at
- 44:58Speaker 3: Connor McGregor, get Sugarshan O'Malley, you look at these guys
- 45:02Speaker 3: that have these flamboyant personalities, these big personalities, they get
- 45:06Speaker 3: Casius Clay's the original example. They get an immense amount
- 45:09Speaker 3: of attention and that translates into much more money and
- 45:13Speaker 3: much more opportunities. There's no fucking way that guy would
- 45:17Speaker 3: have gotten that fight at the White House if you
- 45:19Speaker 3: couldn't fight, because the fight that he had before that,
- 45:22Speaker 3: he fought Curtis Bladze, who was a top ten UFC heavyweight,
- 45:25Speaker 3: huge wrestler, and they went to war. Dude. I mean
- 45:28Speaker 3: he put it on him for three fucking rounds. Like
- 45:31Speaker 3: Curtis just has an insane heart and survived it. But
- 45:34Speaker 3: that guy can fucking fight. But just that alone's not enough.
- 45:38Speaker 3: But you gotta get attention. I don't agree with it.
- 45:40Speaker 1: I don't.
- 45:41Speaker 3: I wouldn't do it. It's not my thing. I don't
- 45:43Speaker 3: like it, right, but I get it and it's smart.
- 45:46Speaker 5: Well, Muhammad Ali though he was very respectful in his
- 45:50Speaker 5: in his in his act, you know, to get attention,
- 45:53Speaker 5: you know.
- 45:54Speaker 3: Just how he wasn't. I mean he wasn't with other people.
- 45:57Speaker 3: But he would show up at fucking Sonny Liston's house
- 46:00Speaker 3: and scream about him on his fucking front lawn at
- 46:03Speaker 3: four in the morning. He did wild, crazy shit. He
- 46:07Speaker 3: he did it. He did a lot of why. He
- 46:09Speaker 3: was just all about getting your heart rate up, getting
- 46:12Speaker 3: your emotions in there. He was so fucking smart. He
- 46:15Speaker 3: knew before everybody that you could just get somebody into
- 46:18Speaker 3: a frenzy and they wouldn't be able to sleep. Their
- 46:21Speaker 3: whole life revolved around fighting you And I can't let
- 46:24Speaker 3: this guy beat me in the fear of losing. He's
- 46:27Speaker 3: gonna keep you weak. It's gonna keep you You're not
- 46:29Speaker 3: gonna be able to eat as much food. You're gonna
- 46:31Speaker 3: feel nervous.
- 46:32Speaker 1: But you see what happened when somebody called him claim.
- 46:35Speaker 3: Oh yeah, oh yeah, he was that what fighter was
- 46:40Speaker 3: that he kept punishing.
- 46:43Speaker 1: I'm gonna but that that didn't work out for him. Well,
- 46:45Speaker 1: and he beat the He.
- 46:46Speaker 3: Beat him, and he carried him. He carried him. He
- 46:49Speaker 3: was beating his ass. Dude. He was a special, special guy.
- 46:54Speaker 3: It's you know, I'm not comparing him in terms of
- 46:56Speaker 3: his cultural significance to Josh Hokit because you know he was.
- 47:00Speaker 4: Uh.
- 47:01Speaker 3: My parents, my mother and my stepfather were hippies. They
- 47:03Speaker 3: never watched fighting. But when he had a rematch with
- 47:07Speaker 3: Leon Spinks, that's how much of a cultural figure he was.
- 47:10Speaker 3: They wanted him to beat Leon Spinks. Oh my god,
- 47:13Speaker 3: he's gotta win. He's got to win. Hippies sitting in
- 47:16Speaker 3: front of the fucking TV in like nineteen seventy whatever.
- 47:18Speaker 1: It was crazy, that is they have Italian hippies. Because
- 47:24Speaker 1: I heard it was like, my family, they don't like that.
- 47:26Speaker 1: I thought they was Italian Italian.
- 47:30Speaker 3: Well they were hippies. But you know, my grandmother went
- 47:32Speaker 3: to jail for running numbers for the mob. So it's
- 47:36Speaker 3: like there was a lot of okay, there was a
- 47:39Speaker 3: lot of Yeah, Grandma went away for a little bit.
- 47:46Speaker 3: She wouldn't rat him out, so she did some time.
- 47:49Speaker 5: I was at a I was at a show one
- 47:50Speaker 5: time and I said, well, all the Africans and in
- 47:56Speaker 5: in here, and this Italian dude he's from Sicily. He
- 48:01Speaker 5: raised his hand and I said, and the people like,
- 48:06Speaker 5: why is he raising him? Like he knows, he knows.
- 48:12Speaker 3: He was like, yeah, it's really good reason why Sicilians
- 48:17Speaker 3: have darker hair, curly hair, darker skin.
- 48:20Speaker 1: He's like yeah, and that's all I said was he knows.
- 48:24Speaker 1: And and people who got it it was like right.
- 48:28Speaker 1: And at that point it's like when people don't know
- 48:31Speaker 1: that that you have some sort of level of intelligence information,
- 48:36Speaker 1: it was like, whoa, Okay, it's a it's a big
- 48:41Speaker 1: but that's that's funny though Italian.
- 48:43Speaker 3: But my mother also, well, yeah, there's a lot of
- 48:46Speaker 3: hippiets back then, man, And I think the original idea
- 48:49Speaker 3: behind it was great. And I was just watching this
- 48:52Speaker 3: thing today about the c I A and LSD and
- 48:55Speaker 3: what they did. It was really funny, man. It was
- 48:56Speaker 3: a yeah, isn't it dope? See if you can find it,
- 49:01Speaker 3: put it up because it's kind of cool.
- 49:03Speaker 4: I'm conveniently an mk ULTRAE hearing going on right now in.
- 49:05Speaker 3: The Oh how convenient Colson bro that they I got
- 49:10Speaker 3: it right here, Jamie. I'll sent it to you. They
- 49:12Speaker 3: one hundred percent are still doing that. No if answer,
- 49:16Speaker 3: butts if you think they did that in the sixties
- 49:18Speaker 3: and then one hundred percent did if they're doing mind
- 49:20Speaker 3: control experiments on people, and they're influencing people's opinions. And
- 49:25Speaker 3: half of the reason why people were at odds with
- 49:27Speaker 3: each other all day long on it online is probably
- 49:30Speaker 3: government intervention. At one point. There's some government's intervention. This
- 49:34Speaker 3: is just not ours, Russia and China and.
- 49:37Speaker 1: This is wow.
- 49:37Speaker 2: That Yeah, they created the hippie movement, and your mom's
- 49:41Speaker 2: favorite band probably helped them. In the nineteen fifties, the
- 49:44Speaker 2: CIA bought up the world supply of LSD. They brought
- 49:47Speaker 2: it to the pharmaceutical company Eli Lilly, who reverse engineered it,
- 49:51Speaker 2: giving them an unlimited supply and a complete monopoly. Then
- 49:54Speaker 2: the testing started. One early volunteer for these tests was
- 49:57Speaker 2: Ken Keasey. Kesey wrote a book inspired by this experience,
- 50:01Speaker 2: which became a bestseller. Then Kesey went on to host
- 50:03Speaker 2: events which he called acid tests, and he wasn't charging anyone.
- 50:08Speaker 2: He just wanted people to show up and do acid.
- 50:10Speaker 2: For these events, he hired an unknown house band called
- 50:13Speaker 2: The Grateful Dead. These events became wildly popular, and with
- 50:17Speaker 2: them rose the popularity of the band. So the Grateful
- 50:19Speaker 2: Dead begins touring and Kesey follows them around in a
- 50:22Speaker 2: bus from show to show, and everywhere he went he
- 50:24Speaker 2: brought a bat full of kool A laced with LSD.
- 50:27Speaker 3: This guy had a.
- 50:28Speaker 2: Seemingly endless supply, exporting the hippie culture all around the US. Meanwhile,
- 50:32Speaker 2: the CIA is flooding college campuses with LSD under the
- 50:35Speaker 2: guise of research, and the Grateful Dead was just one
- 50:38Speaker 2: of many bands in this movement. At the same time,
- 50:40Speaker 2: in Laurel Canyon came a wave of musicians with something
- 50:43Speaker 2: in common. They were all children of high ranking military officials.
- 50:47Speaker 2: The biggest names in music. Jim Morrison of The Doors
- 50:50Speaker 2: was the son of an admiral. Frank Zappa's father was
- 50:52Speaker 2: a chemical warfare Specialist, even Crosby, Stills and Nash, Yeah,
- 50:57Speaker 2: all three of them, and all of these bands as well.
- 50:59Speaker 2: The theory is the CIA orchestrated the hippie movement to
- 51:02Speaker 2: steer a very real anti war movement into something a
- 51:05Speaker 2: little easier to combat, descent without teeth. The hippie slogan
- 51:09Speaker 2: was literally turn.
- 51:10Speaker 3: On, tune in, and drop out.
- 51:15Speaker 2: In other words, do acid and remove yourself from society,
- 51:18Speaker 2: and a lot of them did drop out of society
- 51:20Speaker 2: to go live in communes in the woods. This intersection
- 51:23Speaker 2: between hippie culture and the CIA could all be a great,
- 51:26Speaker 2: big coincidence. Maybe military brats naturally want to rebel, and
- 51:31Speaker 2: maybe the CIA was giving away acid because they're.
- 51:33Speaker 3: Chill like that.
- 51:34Speaker 2: Maybe the CIA created the hippie movement and your mom's
- 51:37Speaker 2: favorite band probably helped them.
- 51:40Speaker 3: Yeah, is that wild?
- 51:42Speaker 1: That's crazy?
- 51:43Speaker 3: That's wild. They also had a big influence on gangster rap,
- 51:47Speaker 3: big influence on promoting gangster for one hundred. Yeah, they
- 51:54Speaker 3: wanted to fill prisons.
- 51:55Speaker 5: You want you want to push that over anything else,
- 51:58Speaker 5: you know, because we can look at how rap music
- 52:00Speaker 5: changed and get it changed, you know, nineteen ninety two, Yeah,
- 52:05Speaker 5: after nineteen ninety two, they was like, no more positive rap.
- 52:09Speaker 3: Well, it was whenever Straight out of Compton came out,
- 52:11Speaker 3: because I was in Boston at the time, I would
- 52:14Speaker 3: remember to the day it happened.
- 52:16Speaker 5: But Straight out of Compton wasn't a drug feel induced out.
- 52:22Speaker 5: It was if you look at some of the salt,
- 52:24Speaker 5: you look at a lot of the songs that was
- 52:25Speaker 5: on an album, it was rebellious songs.
- 52:29Speaker 1: Against the system, you know, fuck the police.
- 52:32Speaker 5: And then nineteen ninety two, man, when they decided, Yo,
- 52:37Speaker 5: we don't want no more day La Soul, we don't
- 52:40Speaker 5: no more trial call quest, we don't want no you
- 52:42Speaker 5: get them leather medallions off your It's like, yo, we
- 52:48Speaker 5: need we need like yo, they like self destruction and
- 52:54Speaker 5: West Coast West Coast All Stars. They was like what
- 52:57Speaker 5: they coming together? No, no, you know, we need this
- 53:02Speaker 5: to be divisive. We need them to separate. And that's
- 53:05Speaker 5: crazy that the biggest times that I've experienced this country
- 53:10Speaker 5: being together was the Olympics when the Dream Team came
- 53:17Speaker 5: nine eleven and COVID. That's the biggest time that we
- 53:22Speaker 5: the three biggest times I've ever seen us together.
- 53:26Speaker 3: Yeah, because we need something, We need something that's real.
- 53:30Speaker 3: We need some sort of an event that makes us realize,
- 53:33Speaker 3: first of all the fragility of life. That's important, and
- 53:36Speaker 3: we have to realize that we're all supposed to be
- 53:38Speaker 3: a part of a team.
- 53:40Speaker 5: And you can't play on a team if your teammates
- 53:45Speaker 5: don't think that you that you're valuable.
- 53:47Speaker 3: Not only that, you can't play on a team if
- 53:49Speaker 3: your teammates are poisoning you, if your teammates are allowing
- 53:52Speaker 3: you to eat rotten food so that you can't play,
- 53:55Speaker 3: and maybe giving you inferior gear on purpose, and maybe
- 53:59Speaker 3: keeping you in a place where you can't get sleep
- 54:02Speaker 3: so that you're not gonna evolve. You're not gonna like.
- 54:05Speaker 3: You're always gonna be tired, You're gonna be fatigued, so
- 54:07Speaker 3: you're never gonna get better at whatever the fuck it
- 54:09Speaker 3: is you're doing. You're never gonna advance in life. You're
- 54:12Speaker 3: gonna be tired, you're gonna be on drugs, You're gonna
- 54:15Speaker 3: be poor. This episode is brought to you by Armor.
- 54:17Speaker 3: Every week there's some new wellness hack that people swear by,
- 54:21Speaker 3: and after a while you start thinking, why do we
- 54:24Speaker 3: think we can just outsmart our bodies? That's why armor
- 54:28Speaker 3: colosstrum caught my attention. It's something the body already recognizes
- 54:32Speaker 3: and has hundreds of these specialized nutrients for gut stuff, immunity, metabolism,
- 54:38Speaker 3: et cetera. I first noticed it working around training, especially
- 54:42Speaker 3: workout recovery. Most stuff falls off, but I am still
- 54:45Speaker 3: taking this. If you want to try, Armor is offering
- 54:48Speaker 3: my listeners thirty percent off plus two free gifts. Go
- 54:51Speaker 3: to armor dot com slash rogan. This is how I
- 54:55Speaker 3: see that's not a good team.
- 54:57Speaker 1: This is how I see with parenting.
- 55:00Speaker 5: It's hard to parent it if your number one goal
- 55:03Speaker 5: is survival, right, you know what I'm saying, it's hard
- 55:06Speaker 5: to parent. You know you you got a parent from
- 55:09Speaker 5: a comfortable space. You can't parent from nervous Chickens really
- 55:14Speaker 5: don't lay eggs. So the thing is you if like
- 55:21Speaker 5: the way I parent now versus how my mom. My
- 55:24Speaker 5: mom was strictly survival. So my thing is survival first,
- 55:28Speaker 5: you know what I'm saying. Then the rest of it.
- 55:31Speaker 5: You know, I don't remember going to on vacation with
- 55:37Speaker 5: my parents. You know, like vacation what you wund working
- 55:43Speaker 5: through jobs and going to school, trying to better les.
- 55:45Speaker 5: She just taking care of you, So I'm not my
- 55:49Speaker 5: kids go on vacation.
- 55:51Speaker 1: You know, it's different.
- 55:53Speaker 5: You know, so I see things from both sides all
- 55:59Speaker 5: the time because I'm in, which makes me grateful.
- 56:02Speaker 1: I'm grateful that I can do the things I.
- 56:04Speaker 5: Can do with my family, what I'm saying versus parenting
- 56:08Speaker 5: from a place of frustration, you know. But I understand this,
- 56:14Speaker 5: this this frustration thing. You know, I'm trying to take
- 56:17Speaker 5: care of you, and you know, and then sometimes I
- 56:20Speaker 5: look at my kids, like, you know something, you have
- 56:22Speaker 5: it really easy because if I wouldn't have washed them dishes,
- 56:25Speaker 5: my mom would have destroyed.
- 56:27Speaker 1: Me because her mind said this, Hey, I'm trying to
- 56:32Speaker 1: take care of y'all. Can y'all got the help in this?
- 56:34Speaker 1: You know? With me, it was like we have a housekeeper,
- 56:40Speaker 1: the housekeeper coming in four days out the week, you know,
- 56:43Speaker 1: and now I'm like.
- 56:44Speaker 5: So you just gonna throw that stuff on the floor,
- 56:47Speaker 5: and you're making it hard for the housekeeper.
- 56:49Speaker 1: You know. The reason why she's here four days a
- 56:51Speaker 1: week is so to make your life easier. But you you're.
- 56:54Speaker 5: Adding on to by being lazy, by being lazy, like like,
- 56:58Speaker 5: I don't this.
- 57:00Speaker 3: Balance in that right. You want to protect your children,
- 57:03Speaker 3: but you don't want them to develop soft. You want
- 57:08Speaker 3: them to be able to take care of their own problems,
- 57:11Speaker 3: and you want them to be able to understand the
- 57:13Speaker 3: consequences of their actions. So this is like fine line
- 57:17Speaker 3: of like encouragement and punishment and like explaining to them
- 57:25Speaker 3: how your life was different and you have to appreciate
- 57:28Speaker 3: this life. This is very unusual. You're super fortunate. But
- 57:31Speaker 3: I think ultimately what they learn from is how you
- 57:34Speaker 3: behave That's a giant part of being a parent that
- 57:38Speaker 3: people I don't think are totally aware of until you
- 57:41Speaker 3: start doing it, that they understand. Whatever the fuck you
- 57:44Speaker 3: say is one thing that's great what you do. What
- 57:46Speaker 3: you do is what they really say. And if you're
- 57:48Speaker 3: a lazy fucker who is always making excuses, your kids
- 57:51Speaker 3: are gonna not have respect for you. They're gonna know,
- 57:53Speaker 3: like real early on, you're kind of full shit.
- 57:56Speaker 1: This is the craziest thing, though.
- 57:57Speaker 5: You know how hard it is to put some of
- 57:59Speaker 5: my own punishment and then say, hey, pack, we're going
- 58:03Speaker 5: to Cabo.
- 58:05Speaker 1: He's like, and my own punishment.
- 58:07Speaker 3: We're going to Como get your iPad for sixteen hours.
- 58:11Speaker 1: When we get the cobo. You stay in your room
- 58:13Speaker 1: and overlook the ocean and think about your consequences, and
- 58:20Speaker 1: you order room service.
- 58:21Speaker 3: And drinking coke and cola, eating French fries.
- 58:26Speaker 1: Lamb chops come into the room. It's like, yo, you
- 58:28Speaker 1: won't punish me, dude, And then so I can't, so
- 58:31Speaker 1: I can't have oysters.
- 58:33Speaker 3: Like here the birds chirping, You're.
- 58:38Speaker 1: Looking at the waves and likes it's rough and it's
- 58:43Speaker 1: being it's a it's a certain part of success that
- 58:47Speaker 1: you almost can't.
- 58:50Speaker 5: Punish because it's like, I'm not staying at home because
- 58:56Speaker 5: you don't punishment. See my mom was she it's just different,
- 59:00Speaker 5: you know different. My mom was going her room and
- 59:04Speaker 5: turn on nas Land in a dynasty and I'm in
- 59:06Speaker 5: my room with no TV because it was only one TV.
- 59:09Speaker 1: It's a TV in every room, you know what I'm saying.
- 59:11Speaker 1: I mean the punishment was come in here and watch
- 59:14Speaker 1: falcon Crest with me. What I don't want to watch?
- 59:19Speaker 1: No falcon Crest.
- 59:20Speaker 5: And then you start watching falcon Crest and now you
- 59:22Speaker 5: love it.
- 59:23Speaker 1: He was like, so when when is it coming on again?
- 59:27Speaker 1: That's why character, That's why I like mash you know,
- 59:30Speaker 1: what I'm saying.
- 59:30Speaker 5: I would be in I'd be in trouble and you're
- 59:33Speaker 5: watching Mash and Bonanza and then all of a sudden
- 59:37Speaker 5: you love Mash.
- 59:39Speaker 1: I cried with Mash when I it's like that.
- 59:41Speaker 3: You remember the dude who dressed up like girl in Mash,
- 59:44Speaker 3: Jamie Farr, Yeah, he was my neighbor.
- 59:46Speaker 1: I was your neighbor.
- 59:47Speaker 3: Yeah. Wow, back in California. He live right next door,
- 59:50Speaker 3: two houses down.
- 59:52Speaker 1: Wow, Clinger.
- 59:54Speaker 3: It used to be just me and him, and then
- 59:56Speaker 3: another guy built the house in between us. Uh, who's cool,
- 1:00:00Speaker 3: very friendly guy.
- 1:00:01Speaker 1: Play the play, The character played a good character.
- 1:00:03Speaker 3: That show, Mash was a very good show, you know.
- 1:00:07Speaker 5: And I said this other day to a friend of mine.
- 1:00:10Speaker 5: I said, like I listened. I used to ride and
- 1:00:14Speaker 5: take my kids to school and listen to morning shows.
- 1:00:17Speaker 5: You know, really Tom Joiner, you know, listen to Tom Joiner,
- 1:00:21Speaker 5: and this is something I could listen to with my kids.
- 1:00:24Speaker 5: Now there's there's no morning shows that I can listen
- 1:00:28Speaker 5: to with my children without them putting in a different
- 1:00:32Speaker 5: element that I'm I don't want my kids to be
- 1:00:35Speaker 5: a part of. You know, that's a weird thing that
- 1:00:39Speaker 5: they cursing on radio and doing all.
- 1:00:43Speaker 3: They can't curse on radio story, yes they change it.
- 1:00:48Speaker 1: They'll drop a B word in a minute, Oh.
- 1:00:51Speaker 3: A B word. Yeah, But that's it. You can't you
- 1:00:54Speaker 3: can't use, you can't say no.
- 1:00:57Speaker 1: But the rest of it, you know, my you know,
- 1:01:00Speaker 1: you got daughters.
- 1:01:00Speaker 3: You're in the crowd right right, and you're hearing some
- 1:01:02Speaker 3: ship you know, like.
- 1:01:05Speaker 5: That's that's a weird thing. Like so they go to
- 1:01:07Speaker 5: school and you know, at the and they say.
- 1:01:11Speaker 1: You're watching the be like.
- 1:01:14Speaker 5: Damn, that was the ending of the show. So now
- 1:01:20Speaker 5: you just we riding and listen to Keisjakole. You know
- 1:01:23Speaker 5: what I'm saying with no talk. Oh I listened to
- 1:01:25Speaker 5: m PR. I listened to Urban Urban Network, you know,
- 1:01:30Speaker 5: for them to listen. Now they got all these political
- 1:01:33Speaker 5: questions and and you know, when you're five year old.
- 1:01:36Speaker 1: Like so why aren't we voting? Like, oh, you've been
- 1:01:41Speaker 1: listening to Karen Anna. It's the whole time on away
- 1:01:44Speaker 1: to school or from school. So it's it's weird. How
- 1:01:49Speaker 1: you what shows would you sit down and watch with
- 1:01:52Speaker 1: your kids?
- 1:01:53Speaker 3: Now?
- 1:01:53Speaker 5: You know they have to watch the shows that I
- 1:01:56Speaker 5: grew up watching. You know, you got to go back
- 1:01:58Speaker 5: you got to watch Perry Mason and the Family Matters
- 1:02:02Speaker 5: and you know the Cosby Show.
- 1:02:03Speaker 1: You know, different world.
- 1:02:04Speaker 5: We had to go back and watch good Times, you know,
- 1:02:07Speaker 5: can't watch the current things, you know, so you know,
- 1:02:13Speaker 5: even with comedy. I took I took Hassan to a
- 1:02:18Speaker 5: comedy show with me to see some friends, and he
- 1:02:24Speaker 5: was fourteen at the time, and we left because it
- 1:02:29Speaker 5: was no it was nothing. The things that were being said.
- 1:02:35Speaker 5: It kind of made me go back to when Cosby
- 1:02:39Speaker 5: did the story about his son going to see Eddie
- 1:02:42Speaker 5: Murphy and his.
- 1:02:44Speaker 3: Daddy said these things.
- 1:02:45Speaker 1: And I was sitting there, like, after the first two minutes,
- 1:02:50Speaker 1: I'm like, yo, we gotta get out of how old
- 1:02:51Speaker 1: was fourteen?
- 1:02:52Speaker 3: Fourteen too young? And I'm like, yo, man, But I
- 1:02:56Speaker 3: mean the guy who's doing comedy's doing comedy for adults
- 1:02:59Speaker 3: that are drinking in an.
- 1:03:01Speaker 5: No we at We was at an event where it
- 1:03:04Speaker 5: was all these bodybuilders. The gym Next Level had did
- 1:03:07Speaker 5: a show for all the the the people they work
- 1:03:12Speaker 5: out there and the trainers, and I'm thinking, Okay, this
- 1:03:15Speaker 5: is at a ballroom, you know, it's probably gonna be
- 1:03:18Speaker 5: pretty cool. And I stopped in, you know, we set
- 1:03:22Speaker 5: in the back and then it went left and I
- 1:03:26Speaker 5: was like, hey man, let's get out of here. And
- 1:03:29Speaker 5: he's seen me, and so he's like, nah, this ain't
- 1:03:35Speaker 5: This ain't the same.
- 1:03:35Speaker 1: I'm like, yeah, I'm not.
- 1:03:36Speaker 5: I'm not going for a certain type of laugh I'm
- 1:03:39Speaker 5: not doing shock value, you know. So he's watched almost
- 1:03:44Speaker 5: all the specials, you know, so it's not the it's
- 1:03:48Speaker 5: not the same for for him, you know. And he
- 1:03:52Speaker 5: looked he knows a lot of comics, so it's it's
- 1:03:55Speaker 5: not this wasn't conducive.
- 1:03:57Speaker 1: I was like, how song we out out of here.
- 1:04:01Speaker 5: It's like, but it's some comments. You can go and
- 1:04:03Speaker 5: you can watch their whole show. Like Marcus D. Wiley,
- 1:04:07Speaker 5: he can get an understanding of least marriage, you know,
- 1:04:10Speaker 5: how marriage goes to give you some fuel. But I
- 1:04:14Speaker 5: think the landscape of comedy is different for different people.
- 1:04:18Speaker 5: Not knocking the people who do shock value or or
- 1:04:22Speaker 5: a lot of sexual content that that's there, that's their stick.
- 1:04:26Speaker 5: And they probably young and at some point they'll grow.
- 1:04:30Speaker 5: Hopefully they'll grow, and it'll be more things in life
- 1:04:33Speaker 5: to talk about. People like well, how do you have
- 1:04:36Speaker 5: as many specials? Because I have a life you know,
- 1:04:41Speaker 5: I had a life before that I talked about and
- 1:04:44Speaker 5: then I have a life, a current life that you know,
- 1:04:47Speaker 5: I'm still experiencing things.
- 1:04:49Speaker 1: So I'm going to talk about things.
- 1:04:52Speaker 5: That that's that's a little different because I'm I'm living
- 1:04:56Speaker 5: and I'm not stuck in Sex is not the number
- 1:04:59Speaker 5: one thing. I remember when I figured that I was,
- 1:05:03Speaker 5: Sex wasn't that big when I went to you know,
- 1:05:06Speaker 5: they had to think Netflix and chill and I actually
- 1:05:10Speaker 5: wanted to watch.
- 1:05:10Speaker 1: The movie, like, get you off my leg. I'm trying
- 1:05:15Speaker 1: to watch this movie, you know what I'm saying.
- 1:05:17Speaker 5: So it's a thing about the development in this game
- 1:05:22Speaker 5: and how you grow and what you think about.
- 1:05:24Speaker 3: Well, I think comedy is just one of the problems
- 1:05:27Speaker 3: with the label is that there's no genres. It's not
- 1:05:31Speaker 3: like blues comedy, rock and roll comedy, hip hop comedy,
- 1:05:35Speaker 3: ed M comedy. It's just comedy. You don't know what
- 1:05:38Speaker 3: it is. It's just different people's perspective on things, and
- 1:05:42Speaker 3: there's different kinds of comedy that people like. You know,
- 1:05:44Speaker 3: some people are Giant Richard Pryor fans, some people are
- 1:05:47Speaker 3: Sam Kennison fans, some people are Jerry Seinfeld fans, and
- 1:05:50Speaker 3: some people love Bonnie Rait and some people love you
- 1:05:54Speaker 3: know whatever, James Brown fill in the blank. There's a
- 1:05:57Speaker 3: lot of different styles of music, and there's a lot
- 1:06:00Speaker 3: of different styles of comedy. And all that I care
- 1:06:04Speaker 3: is that you enjoy what you're doing, and you're doing
- 1:06:06Speaker 3: it because you enjoy it. And if you're doing that,
- 1:06:09Speaker 3: I don't give a fuck. I don't give a fuck
- 1:06:11Speaker 3: what you're doing. I don't care if you have props.
- 1:06:13Speaker 3: I don't care if you write signs and hold them
- 1:06:15Speaker 3: up for the crowd. I don't give a shit what
- 1:06:16Speaker 3: you're doing. I don't care if you do impressions. I
- 1:06:18Speaker 3: don't give a fuck what you're doing.
- 1:06:19Speaker 1: That that was a huge.
- 1:06:24Speaker 5: So when talk about the scope of comedy, you know,
- 1:06:26Speaker 5: I'm I can start with Carol Bannette and I watched that,
- 1:06:30Speaker 5: but the guy who I watched on HBO a lot,
- 1:06:35Speaker 5: I knew I wasn't gonna do that type of stand up.
- 1:06:38Speaker 1: That was just a whole different thing. But Gallagher was
- 1:06:42Speaker 1: crazy to me.
- 1:06:43Speaker 3: Crazy.
- 1:06:43Speaker 1: That was crazy.
- 1:06:45Speaker 3: More plastic in garbage bags.
- 1:06:47Speaker 1: Around the neck front what six rows.
- 1:06:49Speaker 3: Just splattered with watermelons and pineapples and coconuts and whatever.
- 1:06:53Speaker 3: The fuck he's cabbage ridiculous, ridiculous, But he also had
- 1:06:58Speaker 3: some good jokes, yeh, some solid jokes in between. Then
- 1:07:01Speaker 3: dude did a ton of specials. You know. The craziest story,
- 1:07:04Speaker 3: the Gallagher story is Gallagher retired and his brother took over.
- 1:07:10Speaker 3: His brother was Gallagher two, so he had a brother
- 1:07:13Speaker 3: that kind of looked.
- 1:07:14Speaker 1: Like Gallagher Gallagher too.
- 1:07:17Speaker 3: And then somewhere down the line, Gallagher decided he wants
- 1:07:20Speaker 3: to start doing comedy again, and he's like, hey, Gallagher two,
- 1:07:24Speaker 3: the gig is up and he's like, no, no, no, no, no,
- 1:07:28Speaker 3: I'm making money. I'm Gallagher two. I think there was
- 1:07:33Speaker 3: some sort of illegal dispute to find out if that's correct,
- 1:07:36Speaker 3: there was a legal dispute between them. Gallagher's younger brother, Ron,
- 1:07:40Speaker 3: who shared a strong likeness to Leo, asked him for
- 1:07:42Speaker 3: permission to perform shows using Gallagher's trademark sledgeomatic routine. Leo
- 1:07:47Speaker 3: granted his permission on the contingent and the condition that
- 1:07:49Speaker 3: Ron and his manager clarified in promotional materials that this
- 1:07:53Speaker 3: was Ron Gallagher, not Leo Gallagher who was performing. Ron
- 1:07:57Speaker 3: typically performed in venue smaller than those which Leo Gallagher performed.
- 1:08:01Speaker 3: After several years, Ron began promoting his act as Gallagher
- 1:08:04Speaker 3: two or Gallagher too or two. In some of it
- 1:08:08Speaker 3: says Ron's act was promoted in a way that left
- 1:08:11Speaker 3: unclear the fact that he was not the original Gallagher.
- 1:08:14Speaker 3: Leo initially responded by requesting, only did his brother not
- 1:08:17Speaker 3: use the sledge dramatic routine? You can't use the fucking
- 1:08:21Speaker 3: you can't use the sledgehammer. Ron nonetheless continued to tour
- 1:08:26Speaker 3: as Gallagher two using the routine. In August two thousand,
- 1:08:30Speaker 3: Leo sued his brother for trademark violations and false advertising.
- 1:08:34Speaker 3: The court ultimately sided with Leo and granted an injunction
- 1:08:37Speaker 3: prohibiting Ron from performing any act that impersonated his brother
- 1:08:41Speaker 3: in small clubs and venues. This injunction also prohibited Ron
- 1:08:45Speaker 3: from intentionally bearing likeness to Leo. What imagine? You can't
- 1:08:49Speaker 3: look like your brother. You can't cut your mustang. Yeah,
- 1:08:53Speaker 3: you got change your mustache. You gotta get rid of the beard.
- 1:08:54Speaker 3: That's crazy. So did did Gallagher continue with his career
- 1:09:00Speaker 3: after he kicked his brother out? Did he come back?
- 1:09:06Speaker 3: Was that part of it? I think, yeah? I think.
- 1:09:10Speaker 3: I don't know. Nobody means it doesn't say it there,
- 1:09:11Speaker 3: didn't say it here. It doesn't say.
- 1:09:13Speaker 4: Specifically in this paragraph.
- 1:09:15Speaker 3: Now does did? When did Gallagher start performing again? Put
- 1:09:19Speaker 3: that in a search, see what it says, because I
- 1:09:21Speaker 3: think he did start performing again.
- 1:09:23Speaker 4: Yeah, he says he was rushed to the hospital after
- 1:09:27Speaker 4: performance in twenty eleven.
- 1:09:29Speaker 3: Oh okay, in what year did he sue his brother?
- 1:09:33Speaker 4: Two thousand oh?
- 1:09:34Speaker 3: So he did start doing comedy again, So that's it. Yeah,
- 1:09:38Speaker 3: so he's like, hey, motherfucker.
- 1:09:40Speaker 4: Yeah, hit a special in two thousand and seven and
- 1:09:42Speaker 4: twenty fourteen.
- 1:09:43Speaker 3: Yeah, you can't be doing that with Gallagher too, running
- 1:09:45Speaker 3: around siphoning off of your crowd. You know, people like, honey,
- 1:09:49Speaker 3: you want to spend fifty bucks and see leo, oh,
- 1:09:54Speaker 3: what do you want to spend twenty bucks? See? Basically
- 1:09:57Speaker 3: the same shits. See Ron smashing fucking cabbage.
- 1:10:02Speaker 1: You know you had, yeah carrot top.
- 1:10:06Speaker 3: And imagine saying yeah, you can perform, but you can't
- 1:10:08Speaker 3: use the sledgehammer.
- 1:10:11Speaker 1: I would use a mallet. What about a matt Can
- 1:10:13Speaker 1: I use a mallet?
- 1:10:14Speaker 3: It's a baseball bat. You could just have someone pitch
- 1:10:18Speaker 3: me things and I smash him into the crowd.
- 1:10:20Speaker 5: Yeah, you can't own that. That's a different thing. I'm
- 1:10:24Speaker 5: handing out oranges and tomatoes and the OIDs.
- 1:10:27Speaker 3: Yeah. I honestly, I don't give a fuck what you
- 1:10:29Speaker 3: do as long as you like what you're doing. It's
- 1:10:32Speaker 3: like I love certain kinds of music that's completely opposite
- 1:10:36Speaker 3: to other shit that I love. I mean, I like
- 1:10:38Speaker 3: all kinds of stuff. I don't think you should pigeonhole
- 1:10:41Speaker 3: yourself with anything, but I would not take my kids,
- 1:10:45Speaker 3: especially when they're really young, to see someone who's like
- 1:10:48Speaker 3: very sexual or really rowdy or really raunchy, like you know.
- 1:10:53Speaker 5: The caveat to this is he was in the green
- 1:10:55Speaker 5: room and they were looking right at him like they like,
- 1:10:58Speaker 5: and I'm like, change, tell me what your I didn't
- 1:11:03Speaker 5: know they act.
- 1:11:04Speaker 3: But he didn't say hey, you got young kids?
- 1:11:08Speaker 5: Yeah, hey, Because I would say, hey man, tonight, you know, yeah,
- 1:11:13Speaker 5: set an event, bro.
- 1:11:14Speaker 3: I would definitely do that if, especially if you were
- 1:11:17Speaker 3: another comic and you brought your kids out, bro. Yeah,
- 1:11:21Speaker 3: because yo, yo, you got to to get him out
- 1:11:30Speaker 3: of here. They don't need to know about all these techniques.
- 1:11:32Speaker 1: Yeah. So that that's weird, you know, but.
- 1:11:34Speaker 3: That is weird. But you know what I mean it's
- 1:11:36Speaker 3: like time and a place, like who was he doing
- 1:11:37Speaker 3: it for? I mean, they probably knew what he did
- 1:11:40Speaker 3: before they hired him. They probably wanted that someone's fan,
- 1:11:43Speaker 3: which is fine, but just don't invite kids.
- 1:11:45Speaker 5: And like I said, I didn't. All I did was hey,
- 1:11:49Speaker 5: hand on, let's go, and that I didn't. Hey, y'all
- 1:11:52Speaker 5: should have been.
- 1:11:53Speaker 1: I'm like, hey, man, do what you do, but I'm
- 1:11:55Speaker 1: getting my kid out of here.
- 1:11:56Speaker 3: Man.
- 1:11:57Speaker 5: And then you get the phone call, hey man, why
- 1:11:59Speaker 5: you leave? You don't really want to.
- 1:12:01Speaker 1: Know why I'm leaving because you are terrorizing my child.
- 1:12:07Speaker 1: I say so, yeah, it no, But I definitely wouldn't
- 1:12:10Speaker 1: take my girls to like noning. I'm like, none, not
- 1:12:16Speaker 1: at all.
- 1:12:17Speaker 3: My wife got mad at me. When I think one
- 1:12:19Speaker 3: of my daughters was six, one was eight. I had
- 1:12:23Speaker 3: to watch the movie Alien. Did you ever see that
- 1:12:26Speaker 3: movie Alien? The original movie? Yeah, fucking terrifying. And I
- 1:12:29Speaker 3: was like, this is too young, this is too young.
- 1:12:32Speaker 3: I fucked up.
- 1:12:35Speaker 1: You know.
- 1:12:35Speaker 5: I think Hassan watched Annabelle when he.
- 1:12:41Speaker 3: Was young, and it anas creepy.
- 1:12:44Speaker 1: It was he was traumatized.
- 1:12:46Speaker 5: He watching somebody else's house, you know, with some other kids,
- 1:12:50Speaker 5: and they were like, I guess they they understood, but
- 1:12:54Speaker 5: Hassan was it was a whole problem. Like you're talking
- 1:12:57Speaker 5: about sleeping with all the lights on the house. I
- 1:13:00Speaker 5: want all the lights on and I'm sleeping in your bed.
- 1:13:03Speaker 3: Like do you ever go to that place in Vegas?
- 1:13:07Speaker 3: It's haunted Zach Baggin's Haunted museum. He has the Annabelle
- 1:13:12Speaker 3: doll there. Wow, yeah, there it is. Which one is
- 1:13:17Speaker 3: one of the right? Oh? Hell no, that's the real one.
- 1:13:21Speaker 3: It is the one on the left, the movie one. Oh.
- 1:13:23Speaker 3: Really interesting.
- 1:13:25Speaker 5: Wow, So that Annabelle is both on creepy as hell
- 1:13:29Speaker 5: to me, but well.
- 1:13:30Speaker 3: There's something it's something extra creepy about the one with
- 1:13:33Speaker 3: eyes like a person the left one that's insane. You
- 1:13:37Speaker 3: believe in ghosts?
- 1:13:39Speaker 1: Yes?
- 1:13:40Speaker 3: Really? Have you had experience?
- 1:13:45Speaker 1: No?
- 1:13:46Speaker 5: Oh no, no, no no I have. Let me go back,
- 1:13:50Speaker 5: Let me let me say that I do believe in ghosts.
- 1:13:52Speaker 5: So my old house, when my mom says that, now,
- 1:13:56Speaker 5: it's a girl that lives there. You know, I don't
- 1:13:59Speaker 5: know what happened at this house, but it's definitely a
- 1:14:02Speaker 5: girl that lives in the house. But she would only
- 1:14:04Speaker 5: come from like the hallway bathroom to the kitchen, and
- 1:14:10Speaker 5: I remember doing the pandema. You say ghost, Yeah, that's
- 1:14:14Speaker 5: that's a girl. Okay, she's definitely a girl. And I
- 1:14:18Speaker 5: remember being during the pandemic. I was in the den
- 1:14:23Speaker 5: and I was working on I was working on something
- 1:14:26Speaker 5: and literally I just turned the set, so you up, huh?
- 1:14:32Speaker 5: And because I could feel her, I was like yo,
- 1:14:35Speaker 5: because but and I had to go back through my family.
- 1:14:37Speaker 5: A lot of people in my family have experiences with
- 1:14:40Speaker 5: past relatives that passed on. My uncle said he saw
- 1:14:44Speaker 5: his dad was my grandfather in his shoes, and my
- 1:14:48Speaker 5: mom said she saw my grandfather before and that lived
- 1:14:53Speaker 5: in that died in the house that they had in Mississippi.
- 1:14:56Speaker 1: But yeah, I believe in ghosts. I believe in unsettled spirits.
- 1:15:02Speaker 1: He definitely had a girl that lived in a house.
- 1:15:04Speaker 3: My grandmother, the one I was telling you about before,
- 1:15:06Speaker 3: she was very interesting and she really strongly believed in ghosts.
- 1:15:10Speaker 3: And there was a guy that stayed with them for
- 1:15:12Speaker 3: a while. They had like an upstairs area that they
- 1:15:15Speaker 3: weren't using once the kids left, and so they rented
- 1:15:18Speaker 3: out like it was like an attic space that they
- 1:15:20Speaker 3: had converted or so I forget exactly what it was. Anyway,
- 1:15:23Speaker 3: they rented out a room to this guy where wherever
- 1:15:26Speaker 3: the circumstances were, and he died, and my grandmother swore
- 1:15:30Speaker 3: that that dude stayed in the house.
- 1:15:32Speaker 1: Yeah, I believe it.
- 1:15:34Speaker 3: I think it's possible that if something happens to you,
- 1:15:40Speaker 3: that if you're dying, it's a very traumatic experience. And
- 1:15:43Speaker 3: I have a feeling that we don't totally understand memory,
- 1:15:48Speaker 3: and we assume that memory is something that only human
- 1:15:51Speaker 3: beings have, or that only animals have, or that only
- 1:15:54Speaker 3: creatures living creatures have. I don't think that's real. I
- 1:15:58Speaker 3: have a feeling there may be a type of memory
- 1:16:00Speaker 3: from particularly traumatic experiences that stays in the space. And
- 1:16:06Speaker 3: I think this is one of the reasons why they
- 1:16:08Speaker 3: have to disclose within a certain amount of time. Someone's
- 1:16:10Speaker 3: been murdered in the house in a lot of places
- 1:16:12Speaker 3: before you buy it, because people don't want to live
- 1:16:15Speaker 3: in a house that's got that energy in it. Because
- 1:16:17Speaker 3: I think I think things keep energy. I think they
- 1:16:20Speaker 3: do they I think there's something more to memory than
- 1:16:25Speaker 3: just as simple as oh, remember when we were five.
- 1:16:28Speaker 3: I think there's something else there. I think I think
- 1:16:30Speaker 3: that's our memory but I think there's a type of
- 1:16:32Speaker 3: memory in things. That's what I think.
- 1:16:35Speaker 5: I believe in the unseen world. So I believe in gens,
- 1:16:39Speaker 5: you know, I believe in angels, you know what I'm saying.
- 1:16:42Speaker 5: So it's an unseen world that's not you know, our thing,
- 1:16:47Speaker 5: but it was things that was things here before.
- 1:16:50Speaker 3: Us, you know. So I think there's things here with us.
- 1:16:52Speaker 1: Yeah, definitely with it.
- 1:16:53Speaker 3: And people who don't think that haven't smoked d MT.
- 1:16:59Speaker 3: But I definitely get get old of some DMD and
- 1:17:01Speaker 3: you're like, Okay, I don't know shit. There's things around
- 1:17:06Speaker 3: me all the time. There's things that are influencing you
- 1:17:09Speaker 3: all the time. And this is like when we talk
- 1:17:11Speaker 3: about like good energy and bad energy. One of the
- 1:17:14Speaker 3: things you experienced in psychedelic states is a clear recognition
- 1:17:17Speaker 3: of like good things you've done and bad things you've done. Good,
- 1:17:20Speaker 3: the good way of thinking, the good way you think
- 1:17:23Speaker 3: about things a positive way, and bad like I remember
- 1:17:26Speaker 3: having negative thoughts in an experience once and it was
- 1:17:29Speaker 3: all these like dark fractals, and then I realized it
- 1:17:32Speaker 3: was trying to show me that these dark fractals, these
- 1:17:36Speaker 3: crazy geometrics, like scary patterns that I was saying, was
- 1:17:38Speaker 3: because of my own thoughts, and then I released them
- 1:17:41Speaker 3: and it turned into beautiful geometric patterns over and over,
- 1:17:45Speaker 3: and it kept saying like, look at this and look
- 1:17:48Speaker 3: at this, and I was like, oh, it's actually the
- 1:17:52Speaker 3: way you think changes the world around you. It has
- 1:17:55Speaker 3: an effect. It might not have the ultimate effect. It
- 1:17:58Speaker 3: might not be one hundred percent of what happens to
- 1:18:01Speaker 3: you and in your life, but it has a meaningful effect.
- 1:18:04Speaker 3: We just can't measure it. And there's things that are
- 1:18:07Speaker 3: out there, whatever they are, they have some kind of
- 1:18:10Speaker 3: consciousness that are around us all the time. We just
- 1:18:14Speaker 3: don't have the senses to take them in. Just like
- 1:18:16Speaker 3: when you wave your hand over an earthworm and there's
- 1:18:18Speaker 3: no fucking idea you're doing that. We don't have the
- 1:18:21Speaker 3: senses to understand that there's things around us. And people
- 1:18:23Speaker 3: have been writing about these things for so long to
- 1:18:27Speaker 3: discount them all they're all liars, they're all delusional, they're
- 1:18:31Speaker 3: all crazy.
- 1:18:32Speaker 5: I think that people discount on dudes thinking that they
- 1:18:37Speaker 5: were on drugs.
- 1:18:38Speaker 3: Well they probably were, but it doesn't mean they're wrong.
- 1:18:41Speaker 5: It doesn't mean it doesn't mean they're wrong, you know,
- 1:18:43Speaker 5: like a drunk a drunk really don't tell a lot
- 1:18:48Speaker 5: of lies.
- 1:18:50Speaker 1: That's a drunk don't tell a lot of lies. It can't.
- 1:18:54Speaker 1: I'm drunk. I can't remember all that. I'm just saying
- 1:18:56Speaker 1: what it is it I was saying.
- 1:18:58Speaker 5: But when you people like LSD, you know, you loosen it,
- 1:19:05Speaker 5: you know, or mushrooms or these things. People are like, well,
- 1:19:09Speaker 5: you only saw that because you was on this. But
- 1:19:11Speaker 5: maybe that's the portal on how you see certain things.
- 1:19:15Speaker 3: I think there's certain things that we block ourselves from
- 1:19:18Speaker 3: being able to see our own protective instincts, We protect
- 1:19:23Speaker 3: our thoughts. I mean, this is why people, I think
- 1:19:25Speaker 3: get paranoid when they smoke weed. One of the things
- 1:19:28Speaker 3: that weed does is it dissolves all these artificial barriers
- 1:19:31Speaker 3: that you've put between you and and the thoughts of
- 1:19:33Speaker 3: real danger. They're all there. You realize your vulnerability, you
- 1:19:37Speaker 3: realize who you are.
- 1:19:39Speaker 5: So just think of how years ago, how we was viewed,
- 1:19:43Speaker 5: how marijuana was viewed. It was taught that marijuana is
- 1:19:49Speaker 5: a gateway drug to crack, Like, right, I didn't believe that, Like,
- 1:19:54Speaker 5: how does that even correlate? But it's for those who
- 1:19:58Speaker 5: are trying to find an ultimate high. Maybe you just
- 1:20:01Speaker 5: smoke weed and that's all you ever did, you know,
- 1:20:05Speaker 5: and you wasn't trying to find another high. I think
- 1:20:08Speaker 5: some people try to find another high. Like now, man,
- 1:20:14Speaker 5: a lot of these young people are on so many
- 1:20:17Speaker 5: different things at the same time, like what are you
- 1:20:21Speaker 5: searching for?
- 1:20:22Speaker 1: You know?
- 1:20:22Speaker 5: They popping pills, doing coke, drinking lean, doing everything all
- 1:20:27Speaker 5: at the same time, Like what is and drinking?
- 1:20:30Speaker 3: What?
- 1:20:30Speaker 5: What are you trying to escape?
- 1:20:33Speaker 1: Or what are you searching for?
- 1:20:34Speaker 3: You know?
- 1:20:34Speaker 5: And I just know people who just smoke weed and
- 1:20:37Speaker 5: still smoke joints, like they don't smoke the I know
- 1:20:41Speaker 5: people who grow their own bud. They're not even trusting
- 1:20:43Speaker 5: what's going on now now they finding fittin al and
- 1:20:46Speaker 5: all this marijuana, you know, and.
- 1:20:49Speaker 3: Depesticides, horrible pesticides, because what people don't know is that
- 1:20:55Speaker 3: a giant percentage of all the drugs or marijuana, rather
- 1:20:58Speaker 3: that people are buying in places where it's illegal. They're
- 1:21:01Speaker 3: growing them in national forests in California, and the cartel's
- 1:21:06Speaker 3: doing it. And the cartel uses a bunch of pesticides
- 1:21:10Speaker 3: and herbicides that are illegal, like real toxic shit, and
- 1:21:13Speaker 3: they find them doing it all the time. They find
- 1:21:15Speaker 3: these grow ops in the forest all the time because
- 1:21:18Speaker 3: it's a misdemeanor. So because marijuana is legal in the
- 1:21:22Speaker 3: state of California, growing it is just a misdemeanor. So
- 1:21:24Speaker 3: you could have a full scale grow op in you know,
- 1:21:27Speaker 3: public land out in the forest, and these guys find
- 1:21:31Speaker 3: them there all the time. A friend of mine found
- 1:21:33Speaker 3: one in a ranch that he works at. He followed
- 1:21:36Speaker 3: these PVC pipes and he realized that some guy was
- 1:21:40Speaker 3: diverting water into this little area that was on a
- 1:21:43Speaker 3: Tahone ranch, which is a big ranch outside of Bakersfield.
- 1:21:48Speaker 3: But this dude that was on my podcast for his
- 1:21:50Speaker 3: name is John Norris. He wrote a book about it.
- 1:21:52Speaker 3: He was a game warden and it turned into a
- 1:21:55Speaker 3: tactical unit. They had to get like dogs, like Belgian
- 1:21:58Speaker 3: Moulainois and shit with bulletproof vests and they're going in
- 1:22:01Speaker 3: there having shootouts with the cartel because the cartel has
- 1:22:04Speaker 3: set up these marijuana grow ops in the woods and
- 1:22:06Speaker 3: it was his job to police that area. So like, okay,
- 1:22:09Speaker 3: I guess that's what we're doing now. And then they
- 1:22:11Speaker 3: it's a crazy story.
- 1:22:13Speaker 5: Man, kind of like moonshine. That's why you shine exactly,
- 1:22:17Speaker 5: and this thing moonshine. Moonshining developed into NASCAR exactly.
- 1:22:25Speaker 3: Exactly. They had to outrun the cops. Yeah, that's what
- 1:22:29Speaker 3: NASCAR came about from it's fun, it's I mean looks,
- 1:22:32Speaker 3: and also it's al Capone. You know, it's all the mob.
- 1:22:36Speaker 3: They were all running alcohol and there's a lot of
- 1:22:39Speaker 3: people that were connected to them. You know, some people
- 1:22:41Speaker 3: believe that JFK's dad was involved in alcohol, but that's disputed.
- 1:22:46Speaker 3: But the point is, like a lot of people were
- 1:22:48Speaker 3: making money selling alcohol. They were all criminals, all of them.
- 1:22:51Speaker 3: And so what are you doing. Are you stopping people
- 1:22:54Speaker 3: from getting marijuana? Nope, what you're doing is you're empowering
- 1:22:58Speaker 3: a criminal empire, giving them an immense amount of money.
- 1:23:02Speaker 3: And they're probably gonna have to kill a few people
- 1:23:04Speaker 3: because people getting the way. They're probably gonna have to
- 1:23:06Speaker 3: rob a few people because people are competition. There's a
- 1:23:09Speaker 3: little bit of a problem over here. We've got another
- 1:23:10Speaker 3: guy growing.
- 1:23:11Speaker 5: When we live in we live in a society where
- 1:23:16Speaker 5: the bad guy is definitely romanticized. So how do you
- 1:23:21Speaker 5: stop people from wanting to be the bad guy when
- 1:23:26Speaker 5: it's so romanticized and and everything.
- 1:23:28Speaker 3: You know, it's romanticized to the point where John Wick
- 1:23:31Speaker 3: is a good guy. Yeah, John Wick is a contract
- 1:23:36Speaker 3: killer for the Russian mob. He kills who knows how
- 1:23:39Speaker 3: many people, and he's the good guy.
- 1:23:41Speaker 5: But but you got a problem with the iceman, right,
- 1:23:48Speaker 5: a terrible person.
- 1:23:49Speaker 3: You know, poison john Wick at least put sucky in
- 1:23:52Speaker 3: that suit.
- 1:23:53Speaker 1: But you cannot wait John Wick sixth to come out.
- 1:23:57Speaker 3: I love those well there John Wick movie though, like
- 1:24:00Speaker 3: he had a reason. They killed his dog and they
- 1:24:03Speaker 3: stole his car. They fucked up, they fucked up, they
- 1:24:06Speaker 3: stole the wrong guy's car, and they killed the wrong
- 1:24:07Speaker 3: guy's puppy. And so you're rooting for him. You're rooting
- 1:24:10Speaker 3: for him to kill all these bad Russian guys. But
- 1:24:12Speaker 3: you don't realize, like, the guy's been a contract killer
- 1:24:14Speaker 3: for the Russian mob for who knows how many dads
- 1:24:16Speaker 3: is he's assassinated how many fucking people that have families
- 1:24:19Speaker 3: that will never come home to them because of John Wick?
- 1:24:21Speaker 5: And yep, and sometimes a lot of times, you know,
- 1:24:25Speaker 5: people don't care.
- 1:24:26Speaker 1: We don't know it's weird.
- 1:24:27Speaker 3: Well, we're weird. We're a weird animal. We're a weird animal.
- 1:24:30Speaker 3: And a constant flux of thoughts and you know, trying
- 1:24:34Speaker 3: to figure out what's the right way to think and
- 1:24:35Speaker 3: the wrong way to think. And people joined religions for it,
- 1:24:38Speaker 3: they'll join cults for it, they'll join political movements for it.
- 1:24:42Speaker 3: They just want to find a way to think that
- 1:24:44Speaker 3: makes them feel better than the way they think.
- 1:24:46Speaker 5: Right now, you know, with with the need to feel
- 1:24:52Speaker 5: better outside of yourself you know, or you're family, lead
- 1:25:01Speaker 5: you know, or being you know, great to society, I
- 1:25:07Speaker 5: think that's detrimental to this society where I just need
- 1:25:13Speaker 5: I personally need to feel better, but I don't want
- 1:25:17Speaker 5: the community around me to feel better. And in my mind,
- 1:25:21Speaker 5: if everybody around you in the community feels better, I
- 1:25:26Speaker 5: think it makes for a more harmonious, you know, environment
- 1:25:31Speaker 5: than me just being the only one.
- 1:25:34Speaker 3: That's because you're a wise person. The problem is there's
- 1:25:36Speaker 3: a lot of people that aren't wise and there's no
- 1:25:38Speaker 3: one wise around them, and that's that's the real issue,
- 1:25:42Speaker 3: is that there's an extreme lack of like a good
- 1:25:47Speaker 3: direction book of how to lead a solid life. And
- 1:25:51Speaker 3: you're not taught at school school. You're taught to sit
- 1:25:53Speaker 3: down and learn some shit that you don't give a
- 1:25:55Speaker 3: fuck about learning. Memorize this, do good on the test.
- 1:25:58Speaker 3: You got to get a job. What's a job? Well,
- 1:26:00Speaker 3: you gotta sit there and do some shit you don't
- 1:26:01Speaker 3: want to do to get some money. And with the
- 1:26:03Speaker 3: rest of your time you can do whatever you want
- 1:26:05Speaker 3: as long as you keep showing up every morning at
- 1:26:06Speaker 3: the same spot. Okay, And then that sucks, and so
- 1:26:10Speaker 3: what do you want to do? I want to escape
- 1:26:11Speaker 3: this suck. So what do I need? Cold syrup? Okay,
- 1:26:14Speaker 3: give me some of that? What do I need weed?
- 1:26:16Speaker 3: Give me some of that? Adderall, Oh, adderall makes me
- 1:26:18Speaker 3: like the job. Okay, I'll take this shit every day. Now,
- 1:26:21Speaker 3: I don't give a fuck. Now, I'm trying to get ahead.
- 1:26:23Speaker 3: Next thing, you know, I'm moving up the corporate ladder.
- 1:26:25Speaker 3: And I'm not a fucking animal, bro because I'm on adderall.
- 1:26:28Speaker 3: You're basically on MEC. You're on a well designed slow
- 1:26:33Speaker 3: drip amphetamine and you're out there fucking sleeping four hours
- 1:26:37Speaker 3: a day, getting hit done, you know, driving a Jaguar.
- 1:26:45Speaker 3: And this is the problem with society, he said, Like
- 1:26:47Speaker 3: people don't have a real There's a lot of people
- 1:26:49Speaker 3: out there that don't really have a purpose. They don't
- 1:26:52Speaker 3: have a real feeling of purpose in their life. You
- 1:26:54Speaker 3: are very fortunate because you've found a thing that you're
- 1:26:56Speaker 3: really good at, you love to do, and you make
- 1:26:59Speaker 3: a great living doing it. A lot of people don't
- 1:27:02Speaker 3: have a thing, and they don't never they never never
- 1:27:05Speaker 3: were taught to pursue a thing, or they never saw
- 1:27:07Speaker 3: anybody else do it and they realized they could do
- 1:27:09Speaker 3: it too, And then next thing you know, they're married
- 1:27:11Speaker 3: and they have kids, and they're in their thirties, and
- 1:27:13Speaker 3: then they're in their forties and they feel like shit.
- 1:27:16Speaker 5: I ask you a question. You have a team, correct,
- 1:27:20Speaker 5: team of people, team of people that sure? Okay with
- 1:27:27Speaker 5: Do you think your team is happy doing whatever they
- 1:27:31Speaker 5: do for the team.
- 1:27:34Speaker 3: If I didn't think that, they wouldn't be working, okay.
- 1:27:37Speaker 1: So you don't want to be the only one happy
- 1:27:40Speaker 1: on the team.
- 1:27:41Speaker 3: That's terrible. So, and you don't want to also have
- 1:27:44Speaker 3: someone on the team that is one of those people
- 1:27:46Speaker 3: that just never happy. That's a problem too. Yeah, that's
- 1:27:50Speaker 3: a problem too. So there's people out there you can't fix.
- 1:27:53Speaker 5: So with like I produce other people's specials now and
- 1:28:00Speaker 5: comics to hit me.
- 1:28:01Speaker 1: Hey man, I want you to disut my specially. I
- 1:28:03Speaker 1: want you to do this for myself.
- 1:28:04Speaker 5: And the hardest thing, cause I'm a small company, the
- 1:28:10Speaker 5: the the s the hardest thing is when I have
- 1:28:13Speaker 5: to explain to somebody why it's or no, you know,
- 1:28:18Speaker 5: on this particular special. And it's not just my no,
- 1:28:23Speaker 5: it is for other people's no. Because I tell people
- 1:28:28Speaker 5: and I explain this, if we're doing a special with you, you
- 1:28:33Speaker 5: have to get the approval of all five of us
- 1:28:38Speaker 5: cause we all five do different things. And I want
- 1:28:43Speaker 5: everybody who's involved in your special to want to do it.
- 1:28:47Speaker 5: Not they have to do it because it's a part
- 1:28:50Speaker 5: of the company. No, I want them to want to
- 1:28:52Speaker 5: do it. And I say, I'm not putting you through
- 1:28:55Speaker 5: a process that I'm not putting myself through.
- 1:28:57Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying.
- 1:28:58Speaker 5: And I've tested and I've tested this team with me
- 1:29:03Speaker 5: giving them a special that I knew there wasn't a special.
- 1:29:09Speaker 1: And I'm the head, I'm like, I sent it out
- 1:29:12Speaker 1: and they.
- 1:29:14Speaker 5: When we brought it back to the table and it
- 1:29:17Speaker 5: was a lot of silence at first.
- 1:29:18Speaker 1: I'm like, so what we think what we're thinking? And
- 1:29:20Speaker 1: they was like.
- 1:29:22Speaker 5: I know, Like I was like this is our I'm like,
- 1:29:26Speaker 5: I'm just listening to everybody's you know, opinion on it.
- 1:29:30Speaker 5: And they was like, y'all don't understand the direction. I
- 1:29:32Speaker 5: don't understand where you're going with this. I just you know,
- 1:29:34Speaker 5: we won't have to fix a lot of it. And
- 1:29:35Speaker 5: I'm like and I'm just sitting there listening. And we
- 1:29:39Speaker 5: took the vote and when we turned the vote in,
- 1:29:43Speaker 5: it was five notes and it was like, so, did
- 1:29:47Speaker 5: what was your take on I said, I knew it
- 1:29:48Speaker 5: was a note from the beginning. I just wanted to
- 1:29:51Speaker 5: make sure that y'all wasn't going to try to fluff
- 1:29:54Speaker 5: me with the because he's the head, we're going to
- 1:29:57Speaker 5: say yes. And I'm like, good, So time we do
- 1:30:00Speaker 5: a project, if that, I put it on the table,
- 1:30:04Speaker 5: just like I put anybody else's project on the table.
- 1:30:06Speaker 5: And you gotta get all five people. If you want
- 1:30:09Speaker 5: me to finance, you gotta get me. Then you gotta
- 1:30:12Speaker 5: get the marketing person that's going to market. Then you
- 1:30:14Speaker 5: gotta get the director, you gotta get the manager. You
- 1:30:18Speaker 5: gotta get everybody so they can feel good about pushing
- 1:30:22Speaker 5: your project. I don't want anybody pushing the project that
- 1:30:25Speaker 5: they don't.
- 1:30:25Speaker 3: Like that's smart. Yeah, so you make it a democracy,
- 1:30:30Speaker 3: you're smart.
- 1:30:30Speaker 1: So you got all five of us. Then now we're ready,
- 1:30:33Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying.
- 1:30:34Speaker 5: And now I'm gonna feel good about somebody coming to
- 1:30:37Speaker 5: me and say this is gonna cost this right because
- 1:30:40Speaker 5: I know they're doing it out of Hey, man, this
- 1:30:42Speaker 5: is what's gonna cost. We're gonna figure it out. And
- 1:30:44Speaker 5: I'm like cool. But even when I do a special man,
- 1:30:49Speaker 5: they it is a lot of you don't want to
- 1:30:53Speaker 5: talk about this part, Like no, it's like we should
- 1:30:57Speaker 5: talk about this part. And it spent some decisions that
- 1:31:01Speaker 5: have been made. That was it was my call at
- 1:31:04Speaker 5: the end, but it was somebody else's idea. Like with
- 1:31:07Speaker 5: Domino effect, it would have never been a Domino effect
- 1:31:11Speaker 5: two three or four if I would have stuck with
- 1:31:14Speaker 5: the name that I started with. The name was nineteen
- 1:31:17Speaker 5: eighty three, so how what it was gonna be eighty
- 1:31:20Speaker 5: three eighty six and I Rugged, which won what three
- 1:31:30Speaker 5: Rebby Awards. Rugged was was the original name was I'm
- 1:31:35Speaker 5: not Handy and Eric call me was like, no, we're
- 1:31:42Speaker 5: I've listened to it.
- 1:31:43Speaker 1: I watched it so many times.
- 1:31:44Speaker 5: I think that we should go with this name, and
- 1:31:46Speaker 5: he he gave it the name, and I sat on
- 1:31:48Speaker 5: it for a day and then I called him back
- 1:31:50Speaker 5: and I'm like, yeah, you about right, people, and I
- 1:31:55Speaker 5: think that people should put like right now, I'm on
- 1:31:58Speaker 5: the custom Fit tour. Well, I'm off into August because
- 1:32:03Speaker 5: I'm gonna take six weeks of vacation. But custom Fit
- 1:32:09Speaker 5: is not going to be a special. It's just the
- 1:32:13Speaker 5: tour that I'm doing now because the specials that I'm
- 1:32:17Speaker 5: writing are different than what I just wanted to take
- 1:32:21Speaker 5: this time to just do some material.
- 1:32:24Speaker 3: I didn't want to be.
- 1:32:26Speaker 1: Working on a special.
- 1:32:27Speaker 5: But the theme is about people think custom Fit is
- 1:32:30Speaker 5: about close it's not about clothes. It's about tailor making
- 1:32:33Speaker 5: the people around you know what I'm saying that can
- 1:32:36Speaker 5: you can be a benefit to It can be a
- 1:32:38Speaker 5: benefit to you know what I'm saying, not just having
- 1:32:42Speaker 5: these people around, because you know, sometimes people have a
- 1:32:44Speaker 5: bunch of people around that secretly despise them, you know,
- 1:32:50Speaker 5: and secretly despise their success.
- 1:32:52Speaker 1: And that's that's detrimental to anything.
- 1:32:57Speaker 3: Haters. Yeah, yeah, sometimes haters will get real close to you,
- 1:33:01Speaker 3: stay stay next to you. It's a problem. I mean,
- 1:33:04Speaker 3: when you're in a position like you're in too. When
- 1:33:06Speaker 3: you're producing other people's specials, you're gonna get a bunch
- 1:33:08Speaker 3: of people to come to you that you don't want
- 1:33:09Speaker 3: to do their shit. It's just like owning the club.
- 1:33:12Speaker 3: The same issue. The way I bypass that I put
- 1:33:15Speaker 3: all the power into Adam. Adam eget decides who's there
- 1:33:19Speaker 3: and who's not there, and how the club gets scheduled,
- 1:33:22Speaker 3: and you know who passes and who doesn't. And he's
- 1:33:27Speaker 3: really good at it. You know, he's really good at it.
- 1:33:29Speaker 3: I trust him implicitly, so I don't have to think
- 1:33:31Speaker 3: about it. And I like it so that when people
- 1:33:33Speaker 3: say I want to work your club, I'm like, well,
- 1:33:35Speaker 3: you got to talk to Adam. I just perform. I
- 1:33:37Speaker 3: might be the owner, but I just performed there. I
- 1:33:39Speaker 3: don't I don't think about it in terms of like
- 1:33:42Speaker 3: how the scheduling is. I often have to check the
- 1:33:44Speaker 3: website to see who's there. I don't know who's there.
- 1:33:47Speaker 3: You know, it's uh, it might be mine. But I
- 1:33:49Speaker 3: got a guy who does it, and he does it
- 1:33:51Speaker 3: really well, So why would I get involved in that.
- 1:33:54Speaker 3: It's easier to not.
- 1:33:55Speaker 5: When I had when I had a club in Houston.
- 1:34:00Speaker 5: I couldn't be funny in the club at all. Why
- 1:34:04Speaker 5: not because I was actively working the club. So I'm
- 1:34:09Speaker 5: on stage and I'm worried about oh, I said so
- 1:34:12Speaker 5: many other things, right, you know, going on, like yo,
- 1:34:15Speaker 5: did you just drop a glass on the ground, Like
- 1:34:19Speaker 5: I'm I didn't have enough help, So.
- 1:34:23Speaker 3: You got to get the right help. I got very
- 1:34:25Speaker 3: fortunate in that a lot of the people that I
- 1:34:27Speaker 3: took to Austin, they were from the comedy store and
- 1:34:30Speaker 3: they were out of work. So the comedy store closed
- 1:34:33Speaker 3: because the fucking stupid government of LA they wouldn't even
- 1:34:36Speaker 3: allow them to do outside shows. Wouldn't You couldn't do
- 1:34:39Speaker 3: an outside show in the parking lot of the comedy store.
- 1:34:42Speaker 3: They wouldn't allow it. It's so stupid. They were closed
- 1:34:44Speaker 3: for like a good solid year and a half. They
- 1:34:46Speaker 3: couldn't support paying all these people, so they had to
- 1:34:49Speaker 3: get rid of them. And I moved here, and it's
- 1:34:52Speaker 3: the same time. It just by chance it happened at
- 1:34:54Speaker 3: the same time, and so they were all out of work,
- 1:34:57Speaker 3: and I said, hey, let's get the band back together again.
- 1:35:00Speaker 3: Let's let's do you guy, you guys want to move
- 1:35:01Speaker 3: to Austin. So I paid for everybody to come out here,
- 1:35:04Speaker 3: and I paid for them. I gave them a full
- 1:35:06Speaker 3: salary with everything for like a year and a half
- 1:35:09Speaker 3: or so, maybe even more, maybe two years before anybody
- 1:35:13Speaker 3: had to go to work because the club wasn't open.
- 1:35:16Speaker 3: So I was like, I want to give you a job,
- 1:35:19Speaker 3: like so you could settle in, get used to Austin.
- 1:35:22Speaker 3: You're gonna get paid like you get paid like you're working,
- 1:35:25Speaker 3: but you don't have to work. But I love you,
- 1:35:27Speaker 3: I know you, and you know come here.
- 1:35:31Speaker 5: Very admirable. With the store. I just performed at the
- 1:35:35Speaker 5: store main room for te. They had a thing before
- 1:35:41Speaker 5: bt woars I popped in. And the comedy store has
- 1:35:47Speaker 5: a certain politics to it that you know.
- 1:35:51Speaker 1: I like the other one a little more, even though all.
- 1:35:54Speaker 5: They service pop prop No. The other comedy store oh
- 1:35:57Speaker 5: La Joya Hoyay Ship, which.
- 1:36:00Speaker 3: Is that place? Is the ship? What a club?
- 1:36:03Speaker 1: They just don't have food, You don't popcorn drinks.
- 1:36:07Speaker 3: I don't believe in food and common clubs either.
- 1:36:09Speaker 1: Yeah, so, but.
- 1:36:10Speaker 3: It's just a different environment. Lahoya is like very nice,
- 1:36:15Speaker 3: beautiful place. That club is awesome.
- 1:36:17Speaker 1: I love performing there and with the store. In La.
- 1:36:23Speaker 3: It's like you.
- 1:36:23Speaker 5: Get there and it's very it seems very you know, segregated.
- 1:36:28Speaker 3: This is now to me, that's when I how long
- 1:36:31Speaker 3: ago was this?
- 1:36:32Speaker 1: I just performed? But last week, last Wednesday.
- 1:36:36Speaker 3: That's that's sad here because it wasn't like that before.
- 1:36:39Speaker 5: It seemed like the main room in the room around
- 1:36:42Speaker 5: the corner, and all these rooms are different spaces. And
- 1:36:50Speaker 5: that's to me, and I may just it may just
- 1:36:51Speaker 5: be that feel because I'm not there a lot, you know,
- 1:36:54Speaker 5: but when I come when before I came that time,
- 1:36:58Speaker 5: but the management walked up was very pleasant.
- 1:37:00Speaker 3: What do you mean by different spaces? But obviously the
- 1:37:02Speaker 3: different rooms, But I mean what I mean.
- 1:37:04Speaker 5: It seemed like the main room is different from the
- 1:37:07Speaker 5: room around the corner.
- 1:37:09Speaker 3: Well, it is different, But what do you mean by
- 1:37:12Speaker 3: it feels different?
- 1:37:13Speaker 1: It feels a little different.
- 1:37:14Speaker 3: Well, I mean just by its design. It's a big showroom.
- 1:37:17Speaker 3: It's it's brighter, the ceilings are taller, and then you
- 1:37:20Speaker 3: get into the original room, which is just tight and perfect.
- 1:37:24Speaker 3: The original room is like that's where you find out
- 1:37:27Speaker 3: what's real.
- 1:37:27Speaker 1: You know.
- 1:37:28Speaker 3: I've seen a lot of people have rough sets. They
- 1:37:30Speaker 3: were real, real confident going into that room. That room
- 1:37:33Speaker 3: is a truth serum.
- 1:37:34Speaker 1: I like a tight room.
- 1:37:36Speaker 3: Well then then then there's the belly room. The belly
- 1:37:38Speaker 3: room is the ultimate truth serum. The trying out new
- 1:37:41Speaker 3: jokes in the belly room is the place, because you know,
- 1:37:44Speaker 3: only seat seventy people, can't you can't bullshit those people there.
- 1:37:48Speaker 1: That's the that's the the krim dela crime is.
- 1:37:52Speaker 3: A tight small belly rooms. I came such a good room.
- 1:37:56Speaker 1: I came from small audiences.
- 1:37:58Speaker 3: They're the best. It's the best for finding out if
- 1:38:01Speaker 3: jokes are real. There's nothing like a small crowd. Look
- 1:38:04Speaker 3: in our club. We have the Little Boy, the little
- 1:38:07Speaker 3: we have our rooms are named after the bombs they
- 1:38:09Speaker 3: dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. And uh Little Boy is
- 1:38:14Speaker 3: only one hundred and ten seats. It's a super low ceiling.
- 1:38:18Speaker 5: This is when you know it's it's those times in
- 1:38:21Speaker 5: comedy when you knew that that's what you actually loved
- 1:38:24Speaker 5: to do. And I remember I was in San Antonio
- 1:38:28Speaker 5: at this this place called Santa's.
- 1:38:31Speaker 3: He he literally.
- 1:38:33Speaker 5: Owned the whole strip, the club, the washing teia, the
- 1:38:36Speaker 5: corner store, everything, This guy named Santa. I didn't know
- 1:38:40Speaker 5: that he owned it, but it was like a rainstorm
- 1:38:43Speaker 5: or something that got the show got rained out and
- 1:38:46Speaker 5: it is literally.
- 1:38:48Speaker 1: Three people in this room.
- 1:38:51Speaker 5: It's two ladies in it, Santa and I don't I
- 1:38:54Speaker 5: don't know that this is him at the time, and
- 1:38:57Speaker 5: we had to go on to get paid. Promoter was like,
- 1:39:00Speaker 5: I'm not paying nobody who don't go home, We're still
- 1:39:02Speaker 5: doing the show. I'm like, okay, so this is one
- 1:39:06Speaker 5: hundred dollars. He's getting paid one hundred dollars and he
- 1:39:09Speaker 5: was like, who going up. I'm like, I'm definitely going up,
- 1:39:14Speaker 5: and I'm going up first, like I don't care. I
- 1:39:18Speaker 5: did like an hour and thirty minutes for three people,
- 1:39:23Speaker 5: and I was like because I kept looking at like
- 1:39:25Speaker 5: anybody else going over there was like nah, we're good,
- 1:39:27Speaker 5: and I'm like I and Santa. I remember he finally
- 1:39:33Speaker 5: revealed that he was the owner of the club and
- 1:39:35Speaker 5: he was like, well, let me take you to bay.
- 1:39:37Speaker 5: He took me to the back and he gave me
- 1:39:38Speaker 5: like seven hundred dollars. You know what I'm saying for performing?
- 1:39:43Speaker 5: He say, yeah, man, you wasn't scared that me and
- 1:39:45Speaker 5: my friends had a good time and it was like
- 1:39:48Speaker 5: three people. It was literally the dude a advance put
- 1:39:51Speaker 5: the show on. It was like three advance, tell anybody.
- 1:39:53Speaker 5: It was like, this is when I knew Ali was
- 1:39:55Speaker 5: different when he went out three people. He went first
- 1:40:00Speaker 5: and he's like an hour and thirty and he was
- 1:40:02Speaker 5: like and it didn't look like he was coming down.
- 1:40:04Speaker 5: I'm like, yo, bro, I'm I'm I'm here. This is
- 1:40:07Speaker 5: what I do. I don't and I need that one
- 1:40:09Speaker 5: hundred dollars. So that's definitely some extra motivator that.
- 1:40:13Speaker 3: No one else wanted to go up.
- 1:40:14Speaker 1: They was like no. And another time I was at Wiley.
- 1:40:19Speaker 5: It was a Wilie college and Marcus was performing and
- 1:40:24Speaker 5: the mic went out and it's like, all these people
- 1:40:27Speaker 5: in this in this out of the same place they
- 1:40:29Speaker 5: shot Denzel shot the movie The Great Debate. So we
- 1:40:32Speaker 5: in we in this autorum and the sound goes out
- 1:40:36Speaker 5: and they started ribbing Marcus and I and I was
- 1:40:41Speaker 5: in the back and I was like, what's going on?
- 1:40:43Speaker 1: And he's like the sound went out.
- 1:40:45Speaker 5: And I walked out. I was like, what's happening? And
- 1:40:48Speaker 5: I said, hold on, Marcus, let me, let me, let
- 1:40:51Speaker 5: me ask him something. Wait a minute, I know, damn well,
- 1:40:53Speaker 5: y'all not in there trying to get somebody a problem,
- 1:40:55Speaker 5: because y'all got us and we didn't bring this sound system.
- 1:40:57Speaker 5: Got us in Fair east Side high broken clock, and
- 1:41:02Speaker 5: so I say listen. Market sat down in the back
- 1:41:05Speaker 5: and I was like, Yo, this is what we're gonna do.
- 1:41:07Speaker 5: I'm gonna talk, y'all gonna laugh, then I'm gonna talk
- 1:41:10Speaker 5: some more. But y'all can't be laughing all along because
- 1:41:13Speaker 5: we don't have no sounds. I'm not supposed to use
- 1:41:14Speaker 5: my real voice in this. So I'm at like forty
- 1:41:18Speaker 5: five and then I looked back at Mark. I say, hey, man,
- 1:41:21Speaker 5: you won't come make up. Mark was like no, like
- 1:41:24Speaker 5: you got.
- 1:41:24Speaker 1: It like an hour and twenty. He was like, at
- 1:41:29Speaker 1: least nuts. I'm like, no, this is what I do
- 1:41:34Speaker 1: and I'm gonna figure it out.
- 1:41:36Speaker 3: We did a show with the improv once in Hollywood
- 1:41:38Speaker 3: and the power went out and they were gonna cancel
- 1:41:41Speaker 3: the show, and we were sitting there talking and I said,
- 1:41:44Speaker 3: why don't can we light the stage somehow? And they said, yeah,
- 1:41:48Speaker 3: we can get an emergency light attached to like a
- 1:41:52Speaker 3: generator and we could put a you know, put the
- 1:41:54Speaker 3: run the wires through the crowd and put an emergency
- 1:41:57Speaker 3: light on the stage. I go, that's that. We'll do that,
- 1:41:59Speaker 3: and then we'll just do stand up with no mic.
- 1:42:01Speaker 3: And we did the whole show with no mic. It
- 1:42:04Speaker 3: was the opening, middle, and then me I did a
- 1:42:06Speaker 3: full hour. It was amazing. Everybody had a great fucking time.
- 1:42:10Speaker 3: It felt special. It felt very unusual. You get to
- 1:42:14Speaker 3: see what it's like like when you don't have a
- 1:42:15Speaker 3: microphone and you're projecting to the back of the room.
- 1:42:19Speaker 3: Changed my pacing on things. But it was great. It
- 1:42:23Speaker 3: felt cool. It felt like you were doing something and
- 1:42:26Speaker 3: the audience was into it that I go, look, we're
- 1:42:28Speaker 3: gonna have fun, right like, fuck it, who cares? This
- 1:42:31Speaker 3: is gonna be This is never gonna happen again, probably ever.
- 1:42:34Speaker 3: I've never I've been doing comedy thirty something years, I've
- 1:42:36Speaker 3: never had that happen where I did a show with
- 1:42:38Speaker 3: no microphone except that one.
- 1:42:40Speaker 1: So this is the thing. These are the experiences that.
- 1:42:45Speaker 5: As a comic going through the trenches that some comics
- 1:42:50Speaker 5: are never have, right because they didn't come up that way,
- 1:42:54Speaker 5: and you have a different set of chops, and when
- 1:42:57Speaker 5: you come up a certain type of way.
- 1:42:59Speaker 1: I've come up and just joking had to be.
- 1:43:03Speaker 5: The craziest place because some nights you're coming in it's
- 1:43:09Speaker 5: like nine people, but these nine people are into comedy.
- 1:43:13Speaker 5: And Alice was like, you gotta do the show like
- 1:43:16Speaker 5: it's not a we don't have a limit. We gotta
- 1:43:19Speaker 5: do these people that's here, because what the thing is
- 1:43:22Speaker 5: that whole idea that the show must go on regardless
- 1:43:26Speaker 5: regardless too well.
- 1:43:28Speaker 3: I learned that from Paul Mooney too, And one of
- 1:43:30Speaker 3: the things that I said, I did a show at
- 1:43:34Speaker 3: the Common Store. It's like the first time that Mooney
- 1:43:36Speaker 3: ever complimented me, and that I was always scared of
- 1:43:39Speaker 3: him since like Moodey didn't like he was terrifying. He
- 1:43:43Speaker 3: was a legend. He was a legend, wrote for Richard Pryor,
- 1:43:45Speaker 3: and it was like the way he carried himself and
- 1:43:47Speaker 3: he didn't like you like And I was twenty seven,
- 1:43:49Speaker 3: you know, I was young and stupid, and I went
- 1:43:53Speaker 3: up because I would always go up last or late.
- 1:43:55Speaker 3: I had late spots and there was like fifteen people
- 1:43:59Speaker 3: in the room, but I in my act and I
- 1:44:01Speaker 3: heard in the back room, oh oh, he was laughing,
- 1:44:06Speaker 3: having fun, and then he grabbed me afterwards, he goes,
- 1:44:08Speaker 3: you're a real motherfucking comic. He goes, that's what a
- 1:44:11Speaker 3: real comic does. He goes. All these other motherfuckers they
- 1:44:13Speaker 3: went up there and they did, oh, where are you from, bitch?
- 1:44:16Speaker 3: I know where I'm from. Tell me some fucking jokes.
- 1:44:19Speaker 3: Do your fucking act, and that's what you did. And
- 1:44:21Speaker 3: I was like, Wow, Paul Dooney likes me? Who?
- 1:44:25Speaker 5: Me and Paul had a different type of relationship?
- 1:44:31Speaker 3: Did you and Paul not get along.
- 1:44:35Speaker 1: One?
- 1:44:35Speaker 5: I have to always say I love I love Paul
- 1:44:39Speaker 5: until I met him. It's like Paul was on some
- 1:44:45Speaker 5: bullshit when he When I met Paul Man, I was
- 1:44:47Speaker 5: at the Improv and I was featuring for him, and
- 1:44:51Speaker 5: the improvt got me the feature for him, and I
- 1:44:53Speaker 5: was like, cool, I'm excited. I get to meet one
- 1:44:56Speaker 5: of my idols in this game, one of the people
- 1:44:59Speaker 5: who changed the course of my pacing because it my
- 1:45:04Speaker 5: my lineage. Just sitting down, I passed through Paul. So
- 1:45:09Speaker 5: it's when I first started. I was a crazy man.
- 1:45:12Speaker 5: I was all over the place, thought that you had
- 1:45:15Speaker 5: to have this all this energy, and then this guy
- 1:45:17Speaker 5: named Dad's White walked into the club one night. I
- 1:45:22Speaker 5: was there and Dead stood in the same exact place
- 1:45:26Speaker 5: that he never took the mic out the stand, put
- 1:45:28Speaker 5: his drink down on the stool, and Dead just stood
- 1:45:30Speaker 5: there and he was destroying this room. Never took the
- 1:45:35Speaker 5: mic out the stand and people and he always told
- 1:45:39Speaker 5: people say, Dad's, Dad's why you don't take the mic
- 1:45:42Speaker 5: out the stand, And He's like, because there's a stand,
- 1:45:48Speaker 5: let the mic zhone.
- 1:45:49Speaker 3: Some of my favorite Comicsoo took the mic out stand,
- 1:45:51Speaker 3: Ron White. Ron White just stands there with a drink
- 1:45:54Speaker 3: on a stool, sometimes with cigar, just killing with the
- 1:45:58Speaker 3: microphone in the stand. Oh Man, Joey Diaz. Joey Diaz
- 1:46:02Speaker 3: keeps the fucking mic in the stand and he makes
- 1:46:05Speaker 3: me laugh harder than any fucking human being that's ever lived. That.
- 1:46:10Speaker 1: So I'm gonna go to I'm gonna finish part, then
- 1:46:11Speaker 1: I'm gonna go to Rawn.
- 1:46:12Speaker 3: So what did he do though?
- 1:46:14Speaker 5: So I'm in the green room and at the old
- 1:46:18Speaker 5: Empire where they had a downstairs you would come through
- 1:46:20Speaker 5: the It used to be a rainforest. Yeah, so it
- 1:46:24Speaker 5: was spelled Binds at first and then it changed. So
- 1:46:27Speaker 5: I'm sitting in the green room and like it's a
- 1:46:30Speaker 5: main part, then it's a smaller part.
- 1:46:33Speaker 1: He walked into the small part and.
- 1:46:34Speaker 5: Said, hey, go count the room, and I'm like, what, yeah,
- 1:46:41Speaker 5: go count the room.
- 1:46:44Speaker 1: I was like, I don't.
- 1:46:45Speaker 3: I don't work here like that.
- 1:46:46Speaker 5: I don't count the room. And he's like yeah, all right.
- 1:46:52Speaker 5: Then he walked out and then he came back like
- 1:46:56Speaker 5: maybe twenty five minutes later. Yeah till you your little
- 1:47:00Speaker 5: white friend that is packed out there and I want
- 1:47:02Speaker 5: my bonus? What like, what white friend?
- 1:47:06Speaker 1: What are you? What are you talking about? Raymon Cook
- 1:47:09Speaker 1: is the manager of the club at the time.
- 1:47:10Speaker 5: He was talking about Raymon and I was like, Yo, Paul,
- 1:47:13Speaker 5: I don't count the room.
- 1:47:15Speaker 1: I'm the feature.
- 1:47:16Speaker 5: Why would I be counting the fucking room like and
- 1:47:20Speaker 5: then he said something else negative me, and I'm like, yo, Paul,
- 1:47:24Speaker 5: if you say something else to me, I'm gonna kick
- 1:47:27Speaker 5: your ass.
- 1:47:28Speaker 3: PA Like what.
- 1:47:32Speaker 1: Is wrong with you? So I called DM. I'm like, yo,
- 1:47:35Speaker 1: I'm about to beat up Paul on it. He was like,
- 1:47:38Speaker 1: you can't beat up Paul Moony.
- 1:47:39Speaker 3: He's a legend.
- 1:47:39Speaker 1: I'm like, even if you beat him up, you're still
- 1:47:44Speaker 1: not gonna win. And it's like it's gonna be a
- 1:47:45Speaker 1: lost so I'm like, yo. So then another time, oh,
- 1:47:50Speaker 1: and then laid on that.
- 1:47:51Speaker 5: That same weekend, he had this lady with him and
- 1:47:55Speaker 5: she was sitting at the top and I was sitting
- 1:47:57Speaker 5: up there, and she got up and she left her purse.
- 1:48:01Speaker 5: So I didn't want to leave and leave the ladies
- 1:48:03Speaker 5: person there, so I grabbed the traveling I got the
- 1:48:05Speaker 5: purse like this, I came in. I'm like, hey man,
- 1:48:08Speaker 5: you love your person. Paul turned on what are you
- 1:48:10Speaker 5: doing with her purse? I said, she left it?
- 1:48:15Speaker 1: And then with the only thing in my head is
- 1:48:18Speaker 1: d L you cannot beat up Paul on it. So
- 1:48:21Speaker 1: I just walked out. I'm like, I'm gonna fuck Paul up.
- 1:48:23Speaker 3: What year was this?
- 1:48:24Speaker 5: This is like three years before he died, and this
- 1:48:28Speaker 5: was the this is this is the old end PROVM.
- 1:48:31Speaker 3: This is what i'd heard. Just for clarity. He was
- 1:48:34Speaker 3: struggling in the last years of his life, so you
- 1:48:38Speaker 3: probably didn't get the best version of Paul Mooney.
- 1:48:41Speaker 5: So then we were here in Austin. We're performing at
- 1:48:44Speaker 5: the theater that's right next to the Paramount. It's just
- 1:48:48Speaker 5: another theater that's connected.
- 1:48:50Speaker 1: To the Paramount.
- 1:48:51Speaker 5: The Black Heritage, the Black Art something and booked both
- 1:48:55Speaker 5: of us, not knowing.
- 1:48:56Speaker 1: That we had odds. So I'm in my green room
- 1:49:01Speaker 1: and the lady comes in. Hey, she's very nice. Hey,
- 1:49:04Speaker 1: I leave Paul when he's next door, I'm saying, and
- 1:49:07Speaker 1: you like to meet him?
- 1:49:08Speaker 5: Saying, and I was like, no, I'm cool. And then
- 1:49:11Speaker 5: she goes, Paul, I leave's next door. You know, I
- 1:49:14Speaker 5: don't know if y'all want to meet each other. And
- 1:49:16Speaker 5: Paul was like, no, I'm cool. And I went up.
- 1:49:20Speaker 5: I'm in my green room and the host is on stage,
- 1:49:23Speaker 5: and Paul was getting ready to go up, and this
- 1:49:26Speaker 5: was his apology. He walked by the room and came
- 1:49:29Speaker 5: back like on purple Rain, came back and leaded in
- 1:49:33Speaker 5: the room to.
- 1:49:34Speaker 1: Hi, y'alli and then I mean, Paul fucking nuts man,
- 1:49:40Speaker 1: And yeah.
- 1:49:41Speaker 3: But he that's you gotta take that. You know, there's
- 1:49:45Speaker 3: certain people are just eccentric. That's Paul. I mean. I
- 1:49:48Speaker 3: wouldn't have counted the fucking room either. I would have
- 1:49:50Speaker 3: been like, that's not my job.
- 1:49:52Speaker 5: But Ron White, I was in Orlando, manager Orlando called
- 1:49:57Speaker 5: me say, hey, ALEI I know you have a I
- 1:50:00Speaker 5: know you can have a feature.
- 1:50:02Speaker 1: But Ron White would like to you know, feature for
- 1:50:08Speaker 1: you And I was like, I don't. I don't know.
- 1:50:12Speaker 1: No person ain't Ron White. And she was like you
- 1:50:15Speaker 1: don't know Ron White. I'm like, wait a minute, like
- 1:50:19Speaker 1: Ron White, Ron Wright.
- 1:50:20Speaker 5: I think it's like some other guy who's using his
- 1:50:22Speaker 5: name or something like that. His name happens to be
- 1:50:24Speaker 5: Ron White too, like Ron White. He's like, yeah, I
- 1:50:29Speaker 5: said he wanted he want a feature for who? He
- 1:50:31Speaker 5: said you he called and asked.
- 1:50:33Speaker 3: I was like the fuck? I said hell yeah?
- 1:50:36Speaker 1: So I called Marcus. I'm like, yo, Marcus, you're gonna
- 1:50:39Speaker 1: go up and then you're gonna bring up Ron White.
- 1:50:42Speaker 3: When was this?
- 1:50:43Speaker 1: This was like maybe four years ago.
- 1:50:45Speaker 3: That's crazy.
- 1:50:46Speaker 1: And Ron shows up and this huge tour bus Like
- 1:50:56Speaker 1: I'm walking to the club and I'm like who busses this?
- 1:50:59Speaker 5: And I'm like, oh, ship is Ron's? Butther got the
- 1:51:02Speaker 5: key La Bran on it, and and he's in his bus.
- 1:51:05Speaker 5: He's not even in the green room. Then he then
- 1:51:07Speaker 5: I get knock on the door and it's his manager.
- 1:51:11Speaker 5: He's like, hey, Ron would like to know can he
- 1:51:13Speaker 5: come in the green room. I was like, you can
- 1:51:16Speaker 5: come into the green room.
- 1:51:17Speaker 3: So he comes in.
- 1:51:18Speaker 1: He's like, yo, man, I just want to I love
- 1:51:20Speaker 1: what you do. I just want to do some time.
- 1:51:22Speaker 5: And Ron went up there and was destroying this room
- 1:51:28Speaker 5: and I couldn't wait to get up because I wanted
- 1:51:30Speaker 5: to just talk about fucking Ron White just beating for me.
- 1:51:36Speaker 1: I destroyed his room and wrong he sat out and watched.
- 1:51:39Speaker 1: He was like, you're fucking amazing.
- 1:51:41Speaker 5: Like in my mind is I'm still in awe that
- 1:51:45Speaker 5: Ron White wanted to fucking I want to work with you,
- 1:51:49Speaker 5: Like I was like that ship was crazy.
- 1:51:51Speaker 3: That's so cool. Well, you know, when he's working on
- 1:51:53Speaker 3: new stuff, that's what he likes to do. He likes
- 1:51:55Speaker 3: to go around and does a lot of sets. He's
- 1:51:58Speaker 3: constantly active. He's up the tonight, we're working tonight. He's
- 1:52:02Speaker 3: one of the main reasons I moved here. Ron moved
- 1:52:05Speaker 3: here before the pandemic. So I called him up in
- 1:52:08Speaker 3: like twenty eighteen. I'd loved having him at the store,
- 1:52:10Speaker 3: so he started coming to the store around twenty fourteen
- 1:52:14Speaker 3: ish something like that, and oh my god. We had
- 1:52:16Speaker 3: so much fun for years and years, and he had
- 1:52:19Speaker 3: a beautiful place up in Beverly Hills, and then he
- 1:52:22Speaker 3: just got sick because he's always traveling. He just got
- 1:52:24Speaker 3: sick of the long flights and the traffic. And I
- 1:52:27Speaker 3: called him up. I go, why'd you move to Texas?
- 1:52:30Speaker 3: He goes, Austin's amazing. The food's fucking great, everyone's nice.
- 1:52:34Speaker 3: It's in the middle of the country. If I want
- 1:52:35Speaker 3: to fly to Florida, it's quick. If I want to
- 1:52:37Speaker 3: fly to I'm like, God, damn it, can I live
- 1:52:39Speaker 3: in Texas? And then the shit hit the fan with
- 1:52:41Speaker 3: COVID and I was like, I get the fuck out
- 1:52:43Speaker 3: of California. This place sucks. They're telling me what to do.
- 1:52:45Speaker 3: This is not what I signed up for. You tell
- 1:52:47Speaker 3: me I can work, You tell me I have to
- 1:52:49Speaker 3: wear a mask. Fuck you. I'm getting out of here.
- 1:52:51Speaker 3: And when I came to Austin, it was like one
- 1:52:53Speaker 3: of the main reasons why I was willing to move here.
- 1:52:55Speaker 3: I'm like, if we never do comedy again, at least
- 1:52:57Speaker 3: I can hang out with Ron.
- 1:53:00Speaker 1: That's amazing.
- 1:53:01Speaker 3: Yeah, And then everybody else came. And then once I
- 1:53:03Speaker 3: mean everybody says that I got everybody to move here, sorta.
- 1:53:05Speaker 3: I got a lot of people to move here, but
- 1:53:07Speaker 3: Ron got me to move here. That's the most important thing.
- 1:53:10Speaker 3: Like Ron got me to move here, and then I
- 1:53:12Speaker 3: realized how nice people are here and how disconnected they
- 1:53:14Speaker 3: are from show business, and I was like, oh, this
- 1:53:17Speaker 3: is so refreshing. Everyone's just normal. My neighbor's a normal guy.
- 1:53:21Speaker 3: Everyone's normal. They're regular people, just people living their lives,
- 1:53:25Speaker 3: having a good time.
- 1:53:27Speaker 1: You know.
- 1:53:27Speaker 3: It's like and for me, you know, because I love hunting,
- 1:53:30Speaker 3: because everyone hunts out here. Yeah, it's it's it's like
- 1:53:33Speaker 3: a normal pastime. I tell people, I bow hunt in California.
- 1:53:36Speaker 1: Like Texas is Texas.
- 1:53:40Speaker 5: We have been a gym for a long time and
- 1:53:44Speaker 5: we just let we let other people feel like they
- 1:53:47Speaker 5: are up echelon.
- 1:53:49Speaker 3: Were like, okay, Texas ruled forever. I mean, you gotta
- 1:53:52Speaker 3: think Kennison and Hicks to the Greatest of All Time
- 1:53:54Speaker 3: came out of Houston. Yeah, and when I was coming
- 1:53:57Speaker 3: here all the time, I knew it right. So one
- 1:54:00Speaker 3: of the things that was good about doing comedy is
- 1:54:03Speaker 3: a lot of people that moved during the pandemic just
- 1:54:04Speaker 3: wanted to get out of California. But they had no
- 1:54:06Speaker 3: idea what the rest of the world was going to be. Like,
- 1:54:08Speaker 3: They've never been to Nashville, They've never never been to Austin.
- 1:54:11Speaker 3: I'd been here a couple dozen times. I knew I
- 1:54:14Speaker 3: loved it, so I was like, look, this will be
- 1:54:16Speaker 3: all right, Like I'll be fine, Like it looks like
- 1:54:18Speaker 3: I'm never doing comedy again. I was like, it looks
- 1:54:21Speaker 3: like comedy's done. It looks like they're gonna fucking make
- 1:54:24Speaker 3: us just stay indoors, especially in like blue cities, Like
- 1:54:27Speaker 3: this is crazy. You have to have a VAX card
- 1:54:29Speaker 3: to eat at a restaurant in New York City. Like
- 1:54:31Speaker 3: this is fucking bananas. None of the ship makes any sense.
- 1:54:34Speaker 5: I remember you guys came, Mothership was coming. The next
- 1:54:40Speaker 5: thing I know, Creaking the Cave was here, Creaking the
- 1:54:42Speaker 5: Cave was here. First, Yeah, I'm saying how I heard
- 1:54:44Speaker 5: about it. I'm like, oh yeah, like creaking a cave.
- 1:54:47Speaker 5: I'm like, damn, okay, Creaking the Cave's coming from New York.
- 1:54:50Speaker 5: And then Mothership is here. And then but they had rooms,
- 1:54:55Speaker 5: you know. The main thing was what was the room
- 1:54:58Speaker 5: that that was so hard to get in there? First
- 1:55:02Speaker 5: it was an Austin comedy club. Damn, I forget the
- 1:55:06Speaker 5: name of it.
- 1:55:07Speaker 3: Velvet the room.
- 1:55:08Speaker 5: No, No, it was the actual comedy club, Cap City,
- 1:55:10Speaker 5: cap City, Yes, Cap City, that.
- 1:55:13Speaker 3: Place was always packed. Yeah, you know, I almost bought
- 1:55:16Speaker 3: that place.
- 1:55:17Speaker 1: Yeah I heard that.
- 1:55:18Speaker 3: Yeah, I almost bought that whole mall. But the guy
- 1:55:22Speaker 3: guy who was trying to sell it to me wanted
- 1:55:23Speaker 3: way more than it was worth. And then he got
- 1:55:27Speaker 3: roped up in some FBI investigation. I was told while
- 1:55:31Speaker 3: it was going on, and he was being investigated, and
- 1:55:33Speaker 3: I was like, oh, okay, and then you wound up
- 1:55:36Speaker 3: getting arrested. But that building was for sale, the whole
- 1:55:39Speaker 3: thing was for sale, and I went in there. I
- 1:55:40Speaker 3: thought about how many shows I'd been there, how many
- 1:55:43Speaker 3: shows I'd seen there, how many shows I performed there
- 1:55:46Speaker 3: over the I'm like, I could own this place. Oh
- 1:55:48Speaker 3: my god.
- 1:55:48Speaker 1: Cap City was the first place that I did on
- 1:55:53Speaker 1: the road with DL.
- 1:55:54Speaker 3: That was a great club, you know, fucking great club,
- 1:55:58Speaker 3: perfect club place. This was amazing, such a fun place
- 1:56:01Speaker 3: to work.
- 1:56:02Speaker 5: I think that people don't didn't realize how the rich
- 1:56:05Speaker 5: history of Houston, Dallas, Austin Lapstop, San Antonio.
- 1:56:11Speaker 3: Bro Lapstop in Houston, River Oaks, one of the greatest
- 1:56:14Speaker 3: clubs of all time. Somebody told me that that building
- 1:56:17Speaker 3: still exists like that, that it's still set up like that.
- 1:56:21Speaker 3: There's nothing in it, is that true? Nothing in it though,
- 1:56:23Speaker 3: But it's still the same room. Man. We might have
- 1:56:26Speaker 3: to do a mothership Houston.
- 1:56:29Speaker 1: Yeah, that's yeah.
- 1:56:31Speaker 3: We see if there's another city that could support like
- 1:56:34Speaker 3: a large group of talented up and comers, Houston's one
- 1:56:38Speaker 3: of them.
- 1:56:39Speaker 1: So you know, we have secret group there we have.
- 1:56:44Speaker 3: They had the other cap City that was upstairs. Remember
- 1:56:46Speaker 3: they opened up the second one. They closed that one and.
- 1:56:50Speaker 5: The lah I'm sorry, lapstoptop that was the last spot.
- 1:56:57Speaker 3: Oh no, no, no, they have that already already exist.
- 1:57:00Speaker 1: So the last spot had went upstairs on Walla.
- 1:57:05Speaker 3: The laugh stop. I thought it was the same group
- 1:57:08Speaker 3: that No, it's the same group that owned the laugh
- 1:57:10Speaker 3: stop in river Oaks. The last spot was another place.
- 1:57:15Speaker 3: I knew that because when I was working at the
- 1:57:18Speaker 3: laugh Stop, Ralphie May was working at the Last Spot
- 1:57:21Speaker 3: and we got together and we're hanging out and eat dinner.
- 1:57:24Speaker 3: But that was that was That was the old spot.
- 1:57:27Speaker 3: Then there was the other laugh stop that they put upstairs.
- 1:57:31Speaker 3: It was a new but it didn't last. It was
- 1:57:33Speaker 3: only for a couple of years.
- 1:57:34Speaker 1: Yeah, I didn't go to.
- 1:57:34Speaker 3: I didn't go to It was a good spot and
- 1:57:36Speaker 3: then it went under. Yeah, Ari Shafir did it with
- 1:57:41Speaker 3: a Hitler mustache once he trimmed his mustache to look
- 1:57:45Speaker 3: like Alf Hitler.
- 1:57:46Speaker 5: All right, Ari is Aris is by far the craziest
- 1:57:50Speaker 5: person that I know. Like I thought my uncle Mag
- 1:57:53Speaker 5: was the craziest person and then I met Ari. I'm like,
- 1:57:57Speaker 5: this is the craziest person that I know.
- 1:58:00Speaker 3: He's awesome, and he just moved to England. My brother
- 1:58:04Speaker 3: gonna stab you. He moved to England. They will fucking
- 1:58:07Speaker 3: stab you. They stabbed people there. Don't get stabbed.
- 1:58:10Speaker 5: Ari is nuts, but he's such a cool dude. But
- 1:58:13Speaker 5: he's fucking nuts, I said.
- 1:58:15Speaker 1: I went to go see him at the Creak and
- 1:58:18Speaker 1: the Cave when he was getting ready to film It Special,
- 1:58:22Speaker 1: and I was like, yo, Ari is so Aria is
- 1:58:26Speaker 1: so crazy.
- 1:58:27Speaker 5: If you just if people took time, just just go
- 1:58:30Speaker 5: through the different the many looks of Ari Shafi on
- 1:58:33Speaker 5: the internet. The one that killed me was the half
- 1:58:38Speaker 5: he was just bald on one side then on the others.
- 1:58:41Speaker 5: I was like, yo, he's doing.
- 1:58:43Speaker 1: Two faces, like he is insane.
- 1:58:46Speaker 3: Two face for Batman. He's out of his mind. But
- 1:58:50Speaker 3: but that's really who he is. You know he's not trying.
- 1:58:53Speaker 1: Yeah, he's not.
- 1:58:54Speaker 3: He's not. He's out of his mind, complete maniac.
- 1:58:59Speaker 5: When he told burn what I heard about him tearing
- 1:59:01Speaker 5: up birds check, it was like twenty five thousand dollars,
- 1:59:05Speaker 5: He's like, yo, I just made it about.
- 1:59:06Speaker 1: That and he just tore the check up like they
- 1:59:08Speaker 1: write you another one. I'm like, like, are you insane?
- 1:59:14Speaker 5: Like he's the greatest person, But he's I've had some
- 1:59:19Speaker 5: great conversations on the phone with him, and he's just and.
- 1:59:23Speaker 3: I was very fucking smart, dude.
- 1:59:24Speaker 5: I was very smart when he called me to do
- 1:59:27Speaker 5: the his last the Endless, you know, I was like,
- 1:59:32Speaker 5: that's cool to say, because that that's where that's a
- 1:59:36Speaker 5: pivoting point, a major point in my career. When I
- 1:59:39Speaker 5: did this is not happened.
- 1:59:41Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, that was a great show man. It was
- 1:59:43Speaker 3: a great idea. I remember when he started doing it.
- 1:59:45Speaker 3: You started doing it at the lab at the improv
- 1:59:48Speaker 3: So you remember the lab. Yeah, another little room, cool,
- 1:59:51Speaker 3: cool little room. They never got rid of that room.
- 1:59:55Speaker 3: They changed that place and they fucked it up. In
- 1:59:58Speaker 3: my opinion, that's the room. The main room is still awesome,
- 2:00:02Speaker 3: but the lab used to be in the back and
- 2:00:05Speaker 3: it was like, there wasn't a big bar there.
- 2:00:07Speaker 5: I think it's still there. It's different now, yeah, the
- 2:00:11Speaker 5: last time I didon Cole Yeah, but.
- 2:00:13Speaker 3: It's different, it's not. It's not the same setup it
- 2:00:15Speaker 3: used to be. You went through a door and it
- 2:00:16Speaker 3: was like another small room, and in that small room
- 2:00:20Speaker 3: it was separated from the front door. They moved the
- 2:00:22Speaker 3: front door and now everybody went in through the parking lot, right,
- 2:00:26Speaker 3: and so they went into the lab through the parking lot.
- 2:00:28Speaker 3: So the front door was back there that now, and
- 2:00:31Speaker 3: when you would open it, it was all this noise
- 2:00:33Speaker 3: from the street and they had a curtain to block
- 2:00:35Speaker 3: off the noise, and you'd hear people. They were like
- 2:00:37Speaker 3: right next to your stage where they're buying tickets. It
- 2:00:40Speaker 3: was annoying. And then there was the bar, which is
- 2:00:42Speaker 3: right there. It's still a cool little small room once
- 2:00:44Speaker 3: everybody settles in, but the original setup was way better.
- 2:00:48Speaker 3: And Ari started doing it there and I was like,
- 2:00:50Speaker 3: what are you doing And he's like, I'm gonna do
- 2:00:52Speaker 3: a storyteller show. I was like, well, the fuck is that?
- 2:00:58Speaker 3: That's what I thought. I was like, why are you
- 2:01:00Speaker 3: doing that? And then he said, well, it really helps
- 2:01:02Speaker 3: you without like having to have like punchlines and setups
- 2:01:06Speaker 3: and have everything really tight. You could find the beats
- 2:01:08Speaker 3: in the store and it was like, oh, well, actually
- 2:01:10Speaker 3: that's brilliant. That's pretty fucking smart. It's a good alternative
- 2:01:15Speaker 3: sort of way to develop bits, you know, to develop
- 2:01:19Speaker 3: bits by working it out, but in a more loose
- 2:01:22Speaker 3: format of telling a story.
- 2:01:24Speaker 5: And I didn't even know that that was the premise
- 2:01:26Speaker 5: behind it, because when I got it, it was like,
- 2:01:30Speaker 5: you go on here, you tell a true story. And
- 2:01:33Speaker 5: I was like, okay, cool, that's my that's my thing, right,
- 2:01:37Speaker 5: you know. And I had just won Comedy Central's Comic
- 2:01:42Speaker 5: to Watch in like twenty thirteen, So you get a package,
- 2:01:46Speaker 5: you get an hobum, you get a half hour, and
- 2:01:50Speaker 5: you get a chance to go on one of the
- 2:01:51Speaker 5: shows that's already on Comedy Central. So they was pitching
- 2:01:56Speaker 5: me at the Adam Divine show and I was like,
- 2:02:00Speaker 5: mm I don't like it. And it was another show.
- 2:02:03Speaker 5: I was like, nah, I'm cool. So every show that
- 2:02:05Speaker 5: they would say that they wanted me to go, I
- 2:02:07Speaker 5: was like, na, this really ain't my thing. So then
- 2:02:10Speaker 5: Chase the Russo Young comic called me and said hey, listen,
- 2:02:15Speaker 5: you might want to go on.
- 2:02:18Speaker 1: This is not happening. I was like, what's that? He said,
- 2:02:21Speaker 1: It is a show start on the internet, you know you.
- 2:02:25Speaker 1: I went on and out.
- 2:02:26Speaker 5: I watched both, I think both seasons of it on
- 2:02:30Speaker 5: the internet and I was like, yo, this is the
- 2:02:33Speaker 5: this is the one. So I called Anne Harris that
- 2:02:36Speaker 5: kind of I say, this is the show that I
- 2:02:37Speaker 5: want to do, and I already know me. You already
- 2:02:41Speaker 5: was like, I don't know him, but Eric Abrams is
- 2:02:45Speaker 5: one of the co creators of the show. He was like,
- 2:02:49Speaker 5: I know him, so he's pretty good. You should bring
- 2:02:52Speaker 5: him on. And Alri would already tell anybody. He's like,
- 2:02:55Speaker 5: I didn't know what he was gonna do, but.
- 2:02:57Speaker 1: All I know it was a truth. All you had
- 2:02:58Speaker 1: to do was tell a true story. And I was
- 2:03:01Speaker 1: like perfect.
- 2:03:02Speaker 5: Eric thought that I was gonna do the story that
- 2:03:04Speaker 5: I did on the second time that I was on,
- 2:03:07Speaker 5: but I and I was like when I got there,
- 2:03:10Speaker 5: I was listening to people's stories and I was like, nah,
- 2:03:13Speaker 5: I'm gonna do a lighter story because the second story
- 2:03:17Speaker 5: is Mitchell. It's like when I was gonna kill the CEO.
- 2:03:21Speaker 5: And I was like, nah, I should do a lighter one.
- 2:03:23Speaker 5: And then I did the prison ride, which is affectionately
- 2:03:26Speaker 5: known this Mexican got on boots and our is like
- 2:03:29Speaker 5: the best fucking story I ever heard. I'm like me
- 2:03:32Speaker 5: telling the story about a riot, a prison ride, and
- 2:03:38Speaker 5: I'm telling her what happened. And I only did like
- 2:03:41Speaker 5: sixteen minutes of what happened. That was a whole that
- 2:03:45Speaker 5: was a whole ordeal. Like, it wasn't a sixteen minute riot.
- 2:03:48Speaker 1: It was like nine hours.
- 2:03:50Speaker 5: Like the whole thing is like not. I only told
- 2:03:53Speaker 5: the beginning part of it, which was, you know, pretty cool.
- 2:03:57Speaker 3: You know what happened. I already lost the show, right yeah? Yeah?
- 2:04:01Speaker 5: And so that so when the show came back is
- 2:04:04Speaker 5: with Roy Woods. They called me to do it, and
- 2:04:09Speaker 5: the loyal spirit in me I called Ari first. I
- 2:04:17Speaker 5: was like, hey, they want me to do this show.
- 2:04:19Speaker 5: I'm really not fucking with it. And he's like, no, no,
- 2:04:23Speaker 5: do it. I was like what He's like, I heard
- 2:04:26Speaker 5: about all the stuff. He's like, man, do it, Eric,
- 2:04:29Speaker 5: Eric is still shooting it. You know what I'm saying,
- 2:04:32Speaker 5: So you should do it. He goes, we wanted you
- 2:04:34Speaker 5: to be the host, but they didn't. They didn't want
- 2:04:36Speaker 5: you to do it. You know, they got Roy, which
- 2:04:39Speaker 5: is cool.
- 2:04:40Speaker 3: I don't think they wanted anybody affiliated with Ari to
- 2:04:42Speaker 3: do it. So we're punishing Ari. So when they tell
- 2:04:47Speaker 3: people why so for people that don't know, they already
- 2:04:50Speaker 3: got a deal. He got an offer to do a
- 2:04:52Speaker 3: Netflix special and he wanted to do it, and they
- 2:04:56Speaker 3: wanted him to do the special on Comedy Central and
- 2:04:59Speaker 3: he said, well, I don't have to. It was son
- 2:05:00Speaker 3: in my contract. They said, well, if you don't do it,
- 2:05:02Speaker 3: we're going to cancel your show. And he was like, wow,
- 2:05:06Speaker 3: I can't believe you do that, and that ain't what
- 2:05:08Speaker 3: you tell Ari. Nope, no, So we were trying to
- 2:05:12Speaker 3: figure it out. I offered the host it for free.
- 2:05:15Speaker 3: I said, I will come in and host it. I'd
- 2:05:17Speaker 3: already done it. It's I'll come in, I'll host it
- 2:05:19Speaker 3: for no money. I go because he wanted to make
- 2:05:22Speaker 3: sure that everybody was paid. He was going to take
- 2:05:23Speaker 3: out a loan and Ari was going to pay all
- 2:05:26Speaker 3: the grips, all the camera people because they you know
- 2:05:29Speaker 3: these people, they charged out their year. They're like, oh,
- 2:05:31Speaker 3: I'm doing this is not happening for the next six weeks.
- 2:05:33Speaker 3: And then I'm doing this for five weeks and that's
- 2:05:36Speaker 3: their year, and that's how they budget their life. And
- 2:05:38Speaker 3: Ari decided that he was going to take out a
- 2:05:40Speaker 3: loan to pay everybody. So and I'm like, wow, I
- 2:05:44Speaker 3: go listen, man it, go tell Comedy Central that I'll
- 2:05:46Speaker 3: host it for free. They weren't interested. They weren't interested
- 2:05:49Speaker 3: in anybody affiliated with him. He tried to. He offered
- 2:05:51Speaker 3: up a bunch of other comics. Yep, they weren't interested.
- 2:05:54Speaker 5: So I was in that group of the bunch because
- 2:05:57Speaker 5: I know it was you, it was Joe, me Bird,
- 2:06:03Speaker 5: and they just got me to do it. Once Ari
- 2:06:07Speaker 5: told me it was cool, He's like, man, do it.
- 2:06:09Speaker 3: Yeah. I would never try to stop anybody from working.
- 2:06:12Speaker 5: So what I what I went on and did in
- 2:06:16Speaker 5: my protest of you know, you didn't want Ari. So
- 2:06:21Speaker 5: what I did was told the story about Ari. I
- 2:06:28Speaker 5: just told him, like, okay, cool, It's like my story
- 2:06:31Speaker 5: is mushroom story, which is an Ari second and I
- 2:06:35Speaker 5: thought I was, you know, second season.
- 2:06:37Speaker 1: I did this show.
- 2:06:38Speaker 5: Ari gave me, uh mushrooms, and I went through the
- 2:06:43Speaker 5: whole thing of what happened when R gave me the mushrooms.
- 2:06:46Speaker 5: I ate the mushrooms. I didn't know that they were
- 2:06:48Speaker 5: mushrooms mushrooms. I thought they were something else. And it
- 2:06:51Speaker 5: was like I eighth of mushrooms and it was a long.
- 2:06:57Speaker 3: Day, rude thing to not tell you to not eat
- 2:07:01Speaker 3: all of them.
- 2:07:02Speaker 5: And I remember Janie Janis was my assistant, and I
- 2:07:08Speaker 5: remember I had to fly the next day and I'm
- 2:07:10Speaker 5: still I'm still gone. I'm out of my shit. So
- 2:07:14Speaker 5: I get to the airport and I called Janice. I said, Jannis,
- 2:07:19Speaker 5: people are going through this machine and then I'm not
- 2:07:24Speaker 5: seeing him anymore, and.
- 2:07:28Speaker 1: It's like he's nuts.
- 2:07:29Speaker 5: He's going like and Janey said, they probably going to
- 2:07:33Speaker 5: various places, and I was like, but I don't want
- 2:07:35Speaker 5: to go to various I want to go to Houston.
- 2:07:38Speaker 5: So then when I get up to THEA and I said, hey,
- 2:07:43Speaker 5: I'm seeing a lot of people go through this machine
- 2:07:46Speaker 5: and then I'm not seeing them anymore. Where are they
- 2:07:49Speaker 5: going to? The man said, man, various places? And I
- 2:07:53Speaker 5: got out the line. I called Jane. I said, you
- 2:07:55Speaker 5: are right, they are going to various.
- 2:08:00Speaker 1: It's like he's nuts, like he's losing it. I'm like, yo.
- 2:08:03Speaker 5: I was so toasted and just getting on the plane
- 2:08:06Speaker 5: with still full of mushrooms. It was I just I
- 2:08:09Speaker 5: wanted to just close my eyes, but shit just wasn't working.
- 2:08:12Speaker 1: It was like I was out of it. I never
- 2:08:15Speaker 1: it's mushrooms is a crazy thing. It's a crazy thing.
- 2:08:18Speaker 5: And that same week, because I was there for a
- 2:08:22Speaker 5: couple of days, Joey Diz gave me a black Star
- 2:08:30Speaker 5: and I remember calling somebody was like, Yo, don't you
- 2:08:34Speaker 5: eat that shit, like you say, if you want to
- 2:08:36Speaker 5: lose it, don't you This an episode of I'm on
- 2:08:39Speaker 5: Joy Diaz this back when I was smoking.
- 2:08:41Speaker 1: I took an edible with the new Flying Jew and
- 2:08:46Speaker 1: me and him. It's like you literally see us.
- 2:08:49Speaker 5: I was fine at first, and then you Joy is
- 2:08:54Speaker 5: the only person that's in this studio that's that's still together,
- 2:08:58Speaker 5: and you just slowly see us just melting.
- 2:09:00Speaker 3: We both did.
- 2:09:01Speaker 5: And then I know I was speaking very good English
- 2:09:04Speaker 5: at one point. Then I was in It was like, yeah,
- 2:09:09Speaker 5: Joey was like, no, I understand. I don't understand.
- 2:09:14Speaker 3: The Church of What's happening now had some of the
- 2:09:16Speaker 3: greatest overdose on weed moments ever in the history of
- 2:09:20Speaker 3: the Internet. Just Lee, just seeing Lee's Saya just melting
- 2:09:25Speaker 3: can't keep his eyes open. He's just melting his chair.
- 2:09:28Speaker 1: And then yo, it was like at first I was like, yo,
- 2:09:31Speaker 1: he's tripping. Then all of a sudden, I'm like, this
- 2:09:34Speaker 1: is not happening to me, like it was crazy.
- 2:09:37Speaker 3: Doesn't give a fuck, And then I want to see
- 2:09:40Speaker 3: the devil.
- 2:09:42Speaker 5: The other side of the story was another comic with
- 2:09:44Speaker 5: me named Billy Sirels. He had taken some edibles, but
- 2:09:48Speaker 5: he ain't on the show, so he's outside. He didn't
- 2:09:50Speaker 5: just melt it.
- 2:09:51Speaker 1: Outside like he's just sitting on the ground outside of
- 2:09:56Speaker 1: the dudey Like.
- 2:09:57Speaker 3: Yo, those black stars are five hundred milligrams. Oh that yeah, Josh,
- 2:10:04Speaker 3: how Joey eat two of those ones? He just chucked
- 2:10:08Speaker 3: down two of them. I'm like, that is so crazy,
- 2:10:11Speaker 3: that's so much. You know, Jamie doesn't feel it. Edibles
- 2:10:16Speaker 3: don't work on him. Jamie's got some weird fucking biological condition. Yeah,
- 2:10:24Speaker 3: I'm not afraid he doesn't, just doesn't give as not
- 2:10:26Speaker 3: scared of at all.
- 2:10:27Speaker 5: I've done two different types of mushrooms. I didn't know
- 2:10:30Speaker 5: that there were. It's like the ones where I was
- 2:10:33Speaker 5: really on one that's the one that gave me. And
- 2:10:35Speaker 5: then there's some other ones that made me very talkative, like.
- 2:10:52Speaker 1: Drewol on his shirt another dimension right now, he can't
- 2:10:58Speaker 1: keep the headphones on.
- 2:10:59Speaker 3: Just doing. Joey's the best. They're back, they're doing it again.
- 2:11:05Speaker 3: They're back together again. Yeah, man, they're doing it? Are
- 2:11:08Speaker 3: they doing it out of New Jersey? Is that what
- 2:11:09Speaker 3: they're doing? Yeah, he's the best.
- 2:11:14Speaker 5: I remember I call Moses Malone for Joey because he's
- 2:11:17Speaker 5: a big Moses Malone fan. Before Moses died, I called, like,
- 2:11:22Speaker 5: you know, Moses alone, no fucking way, you know, yeah,
- 2:11:25Speaker 5: no fucking Mos. And then Moses was Moses was nuts too,
- 2:11:29Speaker 5: Like most of Malone.
- 2:11:31Speaker 3: Was have you heard about these new mushrooms that make
- 2:11:34Speaker 3: you see the little tiny people?
- 2:11:36Speaker 1: Oh no, no I haven't.
- 2:11:38Speaker 5: The talkative ones were like I called a lot of
- 2:11:41Speaker 5: people on my phone, and everybody's same report was you know,
- 2:11:45Speaker 5: you call me like three in the morning, talk about
- 2:11:47Speaker 5: you want to talk to me about my life?
- 2:11:51Speaker 3: And which ones are those? What did you take? It's
- 2:11:54Speaker 3: not psilocybin, it's something different.
- 2:11:56Speaker 1: Yeah, it's something different. It made me very talkative. Delay.
- 2:12:00Speaker 5: I told Delay about him comed name Delay. I told
- 2:12:04Speaker 5: him about Hi because I called him and I talked
- 2:12:06Speaker 5: to him for like hours just about so. Then he
- 2:12:11Speaker 5: ended up taking the same mushrooms. He called me and
- 2:12:15Speaker 5: I knew what it was. I was like, go ahead,
- 2:12:17Speaker 5: just talk. He was talking his ass off. I had
- 2:12:21Speaker 5: put the phone out and went to sleep. I woke
- 2:12:23Speaker 5: up he was still talking. I was like, Yo, this
- 2:12:26Speaker 5: cit is crazy.
- 2:12:28Speaker 3: What is it?
- 2:12:29Speaker 1: Man?
- 2:12:29Speaker 3: I gotta je me put that into perplexity.
- 2:12:31Speaker 1: I got a call.
- 2:12:32Speaker 3: Put that into our AI sponsor and find out what
- 2:12:34Speaker 3: mushrooms make you talking of.
- 2:12:36Speaker 5: I know who gave him to me, so I called
- 2:12:38Speaker 5: her and asked, hey, it was inshrooms that you gave me,
- 2:12:41Speaker 5: because she went and bottomed and like I was fucking
- 2:12:44Speaker 5: talking his mess.
- 2:12:45Speaker 3: I don't know what that is. I've never heard of
- 2:12:47Speaker 3: that before. Most of the time when people take shrooms,
- 2:12:49Speaker 3: they can't talk, and it's like I was, I was
- 2:12:53Speaker 3: on one.
- 2:12:54Speaker 1: Crazy because one because the ones that already gave.
- 2:12:56Speaker 3: Me mushrooms In general, huh, people's response to it, yeah,
- 2:13:01Speaker 3: but it seems that there's different responses to different ones.
- 2:13:04Speaker 4: I know what I'm saying on the screen says what
- 2:13:06Speaker 4: I just said.
- 2:13:06Speaker 1: Huh.
- 2:13:07Speaker 3: I don't think there's enough research for perplexity to have
- 2:13:09Speaker 3: an educated answer. All right, how much research are they
- 2:13:12Speaker 3: doing out there talkative social on magic mushrooms? But there's
- 2:13:16Speaker 3: no specific mushroom reliably proven to make you talkative? All right,
- 2:13:20Speaker 3: Ask if there's a mushroom that makes you see little people?
- 2:13:25Speaker 3: I know, I know, but I want to see what
- 2:13:27Speaker 3: pro perplexity has to say about it. What does perplexity say?
- 2:13:31Speaker 3: Ask it about is there a mushroom that makes you
- 2:13:33Speaker 3: see little people? Let's see if it really is up
- 2:13:38Speaker 3: on its psychedelic science.
- 2:13:41Speaker 4: Repeat the articles.
- 2:13:42Speaker 3: I want to see what it says, though. It's just
- 2:13:45Speaker 3: a question to see how it handles this. Yes, a
- 2:13:52Speaker 3: specific edible mushroom called land moa uh assiatica has been
- 2:13:59Speaker 3: reported to was very vivid hallucinations. You say, hallucinations. Maybe
- 2:14:03Speaker 3: they're really little people right there, of little people when
- 2:14:06Speaker 3: it's undercooked, a phenomenon known as Lilliputian hallucinations. Some good
- 2:14:11Speaker 3: thing is, how do you know it's a hallucination? Maybe
- 2:14:15Speaker 3: you're just now can see these things that people have
- 2:14:17Speaker 3: been writing about for eons. How ignorant are people and
- 2:14:21Speaker 3: how arrogant are we that we know everything that's going
- 2:14:24Speaker 3: on all around us all the time.
- 2:14:26Speaker 1: We don't.
- 2:14:26Speaker 3: People have always thought gremlins were real and gnomes were real.
- 2:14:31Speaker 4: And fairies studying that since the sixties.
- 2:14:34Speaker 3: Of course they have been. I'm studying it right now.
- 2:14:37Speaker 3: Let's study Let's go study mushrooms.
- 2:14:40Speaker 1: Man.
- 2:14:41Speaker 3: Yeah, they've been studying it. But like the real problem is,
- 2:14:45Speaker 3: there's got to be a bunch of I know for
- 2:14:47Speaker 3: sure there's other strains that are much more potent, because
- 2:14:50Speaker 3: I know a guy who is a mushroom guy. He's
- 2:14:53Speaker 3: like deep in the world of mushrooms, and he was
- 2:14:55Speaker 3: explaining to me that there's one that's like ten x stronger,
- 2:14:58Speaker 3: and there's new ones that they found. I think they
- 2:15:00Speaker 3: found a new one. I want to say, in China
- 2:15:03Speaker 3: they found a new hallucinogenic mushroom. But this one, this
- 2:15:06Speaker 3: little Pusian one, is weird because it's not psilocybin. It's cooked.
- 2:15:10Speaker 4: This has something to do with cracking it.
- 2:15:11Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, might see them row. No, it's that I
- 2:15:15Speaker 3: think this might be the Chinese one because I think
- 2:15:18Speaker 3: it's a is it. Yeah, Okay, so this is a
- 2:15:21Speaker 3: conflated China So they eat it. If you cook it,
- 2:15:24Speaker 3: and you do a real good job cooking it, you
- 2:15:26Speaker 3: don't trip but apparently some people have not cooked it
- 2:15:29Speaker 3: and eating it and go, oh, wait a minute, what
- 2:15:31Speaker 3: are we cooking out of this? When you're you might
- 2:15:34Speaker 3: be cooking out whatever the mushroom is giving you to
- 2:15:37Speaker 3: let you see the spirit world or see the fairy
- 2:15:39Speaker 3: world or the gnome world or whatever it is.
- 2:15:43Speaker 4: Restaurant you can get into restaurants.
- 2:15:44Speaker 3: Let's go.
- 2:15:45Speaker 1: I'd be like, hey, hey, he undercooked my.
- 2:15:49Speaker 3: Just put it on some salad dressing, said that out,
- 2:15:52Speaker 3: Let's go.
- 2:15:53Speaker 1: I don't have Unfortunately, I don't have a problem with mushrooms.
- 2:15:57Speaker 3: I think that, and I like, unfortunately, what do you mean?
- 2:16:00Speaker 1: Because you know, some people.
- 2:16:01Speaker 5: Were like, you shouldn't be on that, But I don't
- 2:16:04Speaker 5: have a problem with mushrooms, And especially if I'm in
- 2:16:07Speaker 5: a in a safe environment, but being at the lows
- 2:16:13Speaker 5: on mushrooms.
- 2:16:15Speaker 1: That's not That's not the best place to be.
- 2:16:18Speaker 3: Like also trying to fight it. If you fight it,
- 2:16:20Speaker 3: you're fucked. If you if you if you start going
- 2:16:23Speaker 3: and you start no, I don't like this. Oh can
- 2:16:27Speaker 3: it get dark on you?
- 2:16:28Speaker 4: Like?
- 2:16:28Speaker 3: I've tried to it.
- 2:16:30Speaker 5: I've had them in chocolate, like a little chocolate squares,
- 2:16:33Speaker 5: and it's been it's been a time.
- 2:16:36Speaker 3: I don't there's been a time, but sometimes you can get.
- 2:16:38Speaker 5: Right to see little people. I definitely want to be somewhere,
- 2:16:44Speaker 5: or I don't. I just need to be somewhere safe.
- 2:16:48Speaker 3: Brian Simpson has a lyrics story about someone gave him
- 2:16:50Speaker 3: a mushroom chocolate bar and he put it in his
- 2:16:53Speaker 3: freezer and forgot, forgot that it was a mushroom bar,
- 2:16:56Speaker 3: and then just ate the whole thing and just went
- 2:16:59Speaker 3: to Pluto. He's like Doctor Manhattan sitting on Mars fucking
- 2:17:07Speaker 3: Lotus position.
- 2:17:09Speaker 4: This one's kind of strange. It says it doesn't matter
- 2:17:11Speaker 4: who you are or what you do, you're gonna have
- 2:17:14Speaker 4: the same experience as everybody else has done it.
- 2:17:16Speaker 3: Okay, at that point in time, when do we start
- 2:17:20Speaker 3: to say, maybe there's something in this substance, this compound,
- 2:17:24Speaker 3: this molecule that lets you interact with something that's real,
- 2:17:27Speaker 3: that's around you. If it's repeatable over and over and
- 2:17:29Speaker 3: over again, If all these people see the same thing
- 2:17:31Speaker 3: over and over and over again, and people have been
- 2:17:34Speaker 3: writing about it since the beginning of time, They've been
- 2:17:36Speaker 3: writing about elves and fairies and gnomes and magic people
- 2:17:40Speaker 3: in the woods, what do you think they were doing.
- 2:17:42Speaker 3: They were probably eating these fucking mushrooms.
- 2:17:44Speaker 1: So it's his show that I watch that. I still
- 2:17:48Speaker 1: don't know what this show is about.
- 2:17:52Speaker 5: But I've watched I'm All season number four, and I
- 2:17:55Speaker 5: have no idea what whichos it it's called from?
- 2:17:58Speaker 3: Ah, I've been watching it. Love that show. I'm in
- 2:18:01Speaker 3: the middle of the season four right now.
- 2:18:03Speaker 1: And so you know he's taking mushroom.
- 2:18:05Speaker 3: The one guy did. Yeah, well you spoiler alert, no,
- 2:18:07Speaker 3: but you know, but you already spoiler I know. But
- 2:18:10Speaker 3: the people that are listening don't know.
- 2:18:11Speaker 1: Hey, don't it's still gonna be.
- 2:18:13Speaker 3: Don't sunk this up. It's good.
- 2:18:15Speaker 4: And one of these new shows that's been talked about
- 2:18:19Speaker 4: to getting moved.
- 2:18:20Speaker 3: No, no, no, that's still on Paramount.
- 2:18:23Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 2:18:24Speaker 3: I think it's MGM. I think it's a m YO.
- 2:18:28Speaker 3: Great show. Yeah, very original. I still People is officially
- 2:18:33Speaker 3: on Netflix. There it is damn Oh wait a minute,
- 2:18:37Speaker 3: hold on, maybe it's on Netflix as well.
- 2:18:39Speaker 4: Yeah, that's all I was.
- 2:18:42Speaker 3: That's what it came on epics and.
- 2:18:44Speaker 5: Then but you watched all these good show but you
- 2:18:49Speaker 5: have no idea what there's no rules it's and and
- 2:18:53Speaker 5: so I called my director and saying, hey, I want
- 2:18:58Speaker 5: to make a show that it is about whatever we're doing.
- 2:19:04Speaker 1: And he's like, well, give me an example.
- 2:19:06Speaker 5: I say, watch from Like I've watched all of I
- 2:19:10Speaker 5: cannot tell you what this show is about.
- 2:19:15Speaker 3: It's like, I don't do it for people that don't
- 2:19:18Speaker 3: know they want to watch it. It's the people are
- 2:19:20Speaker 3: trapped in this town. They're all the same circumstance. There's
- 2:19:24Speaker 3: a down tree in the road. They can't go further,
- 2:19:27Speaker 3: so they they turn around and they find themselves in
- 2:19:29Speaker 3: a loop that keeps leading them through the same over
- 2:19:32Speaker 3: and over and over and over again, and no one
- 2:19:33Speaker 3: in the town can escape. And at nighttime monsters come
- 2:19:37Speaker 3: out and they look like people. They look like a mailman,
- 2:19:40Speaker 3: they look very.
- 2:19:41Speaker 1: Scary ass milkman. It's like that milkman is.
- 2:19:45Speaker 3: Insane, that that old lady that knocks in the window. Oh, terrifying,
- 2:19:50Speaker 3: terrifying show. It gives me anxiety, and I know it's
- 2:19:53Speaker 3: all fake.
- 2:19:54Speaker 5: It's it's like it's a crazy show. Yeah, and season
- 2:20:01Speaker 5: four is even more bizarre. Like everything that I be thinking.
- 2:20:07Speaker 5: I was like, yo, I think this is what it is,
- 2:20:09Speaker 5: and then it don't.
- 2:20:10Speaker 1: It doesn't be that. But then it had come and
- 2:20:12Speaker 1: like see and but I'm like see what? Like?
- 2:20:15Speaker 3: What what am I like?
- 2:20:17Speaker 1: I don't know the freak this show is going.
- 2:20:19Speaker 3: They don't know, no one knows where it's going. But
- 2:20:21Speaker 3: it's like Lost. The same people that made Lost made
- 2:20:24Speaker 3: that show. Word that's why it has that same sort
- 2:20:27Speaker 3: of feel like crazy doesn't make nothing. Nothing you can't
- 2:20:31Speaker 3: predict what's going to happen, makes sense and lurid entertaining.
- 2:20:35Speaker 1: Lloyd tickles this ship out. Lloyd is mad about it
- 2:20:38Speaker 1: every god.
- 2:20:40Speaker 5: Like but it's so it's a crazy, it's crazy, but
- 2:20:44Speaker 5: it's very interesting, Like I don't miss it.
- 2:20:46Speaker 3: I love it. Yeah, I've been binging it. So I started,
- 2:20:51Speaker 3: I guess me and my wife started about a month
- 2:20:55Speaker 3: ago or so, and we burned through the first three
- 2:20:58Speaker 3: seasons and now to the fourth. Yeah, it's good, and
- 2:21:03Speaker 3: I think the next season's coming out in twenty twenty seven.
- 2:21:05Speaker 3: But I don't only I think the next season is
- 2:21:07Speaker 3: the last season unless they decide to keep it going. Finale,
- 2:21:11Speaker 3: it's the finale.
- 2:21:12Speaker 4: So they just announced that it's going to be the
- 2:21:13Speaker 4: last season and maybe maybe.
- 2:21:16Speaker 3: When that money comes wrong. But the thing about this
- 2:21:18Speaker 3: kind of show is you could do whatever you want, like, yeah,
- 2:21:21Speaker 3: you go back in time. You could do wild shit,
- 2:21:23Speaker 3: Like I don't want to give anything away. But there's
- 2:21:25Speaker 3: no rules, there's you can make anything happen.
- 2:21:29Speaker 1: You can make anything.
- 2:21:30Speaker 3: It's a very strange show, but it's very entertaining.
- 2:21:33Speaker 1: Oh man, it's a very entertaining show. Yeah.
- 2:21:36Speaker 3: But if you want to just sit at home and
- 2:21:38Speaker 3: watch shit and not do anything, ma'am, you never picked
- 2:21:42Speaker 3: a better time to be alive. You can waste your
- 2:21:45Speaker 3: whole life just staring at the screen.
- 2:21:48Speaker 5: Like when I ask people, because my my palette for
- 2:21:52Speaker 5: what I take in is different than a lot of people.
- 2:21:56Speaker 5: You and I turn people onto a show, like when
- 2:21:58Speaker 5: I turned my boy on the Pinky Blinders. I was like,
- 2:22:01Speaker 5: yokey Blinders is a great was like, Yo, you gotta
- 2:22:04Speaker 5: watch Pinky. He called me and was like, Yo, this
- 2:22:06Speaker 5: is crazy. And I remember my boy Dlay got so
- 2:22:09Speaker 5: invested in what was the first show, the Motorcycle Show
- 2:22:14Speaker 5: that I turned them onto.
- 2:22:17Speaker 3: I know what you're talking about. I never watched it.
- 2:22:20Speaker 3: What is that show? That motorcycle Show that everybody liked?
- 2:22:23Speaker 3: You know what I'm talking about, ms Man.
- 2:22:26Speaker 5: I turned him on The Sons of anarchy, and it's
- 2:22:28Speaker 5: a person on there that you kind of get invested in.
- 2:22:32Speaker 1: And I remember he called me and said something about
- 2:22:35Speaker 1: him and I was like, yo, who, like who what
- 2:22:38Speaker 1: what you say?
- 2:22:39Speaker 5: And I'm putting on my shoes and then I noticed
- 2:22:43Speaker 5: are you talking about the person on the on Sunday?
- 2:22:46Speaker 1: He said, yeah, that's fucked up what they did. I
- 2:22:50Speaker 1: was like, yo, you you're crazy.
- 2:22:52Speaker 4: Man.
- 2:22:52Speaker 5: He's like, no, I'm so invested, and like I was like, yo, man,
- 2:22:57Speaker 5: you are a wild person. But you know, so sons
- 2:23:00Speaker 5: of anarchy, pinky blinders. Like I was big on Yellowstone
- 2:23:05Speaker 5: and now the two spinoffs of Yellowstone, Marshalls and the
- 2:23:10Speaker 5: Dutton Ranch. I can't not watch it like is it's
- 2:23:15Speaker 5: It's some good shows out there, and I just can't
- 2:23:19Speaker 5: watch the typical stuff.
- 2:23:21Speaker 1: I gotta watch something that has a little more to
- 2:23:24Speaker 1: it than what.
- 2:23:28Speaker 5: Normal people will watch, because I like to see normal
- 2:23:31Speaker 5: people in shows like something I can relate to the
- 2:23:34Speaker 5: Dutton Ranch, you know, being Texas, this is I don't
- 2:23:40Speaker 5: how ranching is. This is how I always experienced how
- 2:23:44Speaker 5: ranching goes with cows and and how you keep your
- 2:23:48Speaker 5: land and all these different fights that people have over Land.
- 2:23:52Speaker 1: I'm like, shit, shit is pretty interesting.
- 2:23:56Speaker 3: That tailor Sheridan's a friend of mine. This guy made that.
- 2:24:00Speaker 3: He was on here the other day talking about it.
- 2:24:03Speaker 3: But the other show that I love is Land Man,
- 2:24:05Speaker 3: same kind deal. It's all about the oil industry. You
- 2:24:09Speaker 3: just realize, like, oh Jesus, is this how all this works.
- 2:24:11Speaker 5: It's other things happening in life, and it's way more
- 2:24:15Speaker 5: notorious people than a drug dealing show.
- 2:24:19Speaker 1: This is man. Crude oil is a business, So.
- 2:24:24Speaker 3: It's such a big business. Of course you're going to
- 2:24:26Speaker 3: get devious.
- 2:24:27Speaker 1: Going and you're gonna get shit happening to Yeah.
- 2:24:31Speaker 3: The real world of oil must be nuts. It must
- 2:24:34Speaker 3: be nuts. I mean, that's why we're in war right now.
- 2:24:36Speaker 1: And you have to be ruthless, you know, with oil,
- 2:24:41Speaker 1: Like that's a big thing.
- 2:24:42Speaker 5: And I don't understand fake meat, Like why would people
- 2:24:46Speaker 5: be giving somebody fake meat?
- 2:24:48Speaker 3: Because they make money selling fake meat. That's why. I mean,
- 2:24:52Speaker 3: that's that's what a lot of people were trying to
- 2:24:54Speaker 3: push while they're saying that cows are bad cow's and
- 2:24:57Speaker 3: methans the environment. Man, it's bullshit. All they're doing is
- 2:25:02Speaker 3: trying to someone is pushing this idea that we need
- 2:25:05Speaker 3: to stop eating meat because they're profiting off of us
- 2:25:07Speaker 3: not eating meat.
- 2:25:08Speaker 1: That's what it is.
- 2:25:09Speaker 3: That's all it is. It's not bad for you. It's
- 2:25:12Speaker 3: good for you. You need it protein, it's super healthy,
- 2:25:15Speaker 3: one of the best foods in the world for you.
- 2:25:17Speaker 3: There's just a bunch of horse shit out there saying
- 2:25:18Speaker 3: that we need to eat less meat for the environment. Now,
- 2:25:22Speaker 3: we need to figure out how to not pollute, that's
- 2:25:25Speaker 3: for sure, But regenerative farms aren't polluting. You're full shit.
- 2:25:28Speaker 3: It's not true. You know. If you want to say
- 2:25:31Speaker 3: we need to stop doing factory farming, okay, maybe yeah,
- 2:25:35Speaker 3: that's probably a good thing to do, But you need
- 2:25:36Speaker 3: to figure out how to feed all these fucking people.
- 2:25:39Speaker 3: You've developed a system that's entirely reliant on massive amounts
- 2:25:43Speaker 3: of animals moving through. The amount of chickens that people
- 2:25:46Speaker 3: eat in America every day is crazy. It's what is
- 2:25:51Speaker 3: the amount of chickens that get consumed in America every day?
- 2:25:54Speaker 3: Let's guess.
- 2:25:57Speaker 1: Twenty million at least least.
- 2:26:01Speaker 3: I want to say, fifty million, fifty million chickens a day.
- 2:26:04Speaker 3: How many million chickens a day get killed? Oh? Okay,
- 2:26:08Speaker 3: how many do we eat? How many millions of chickens
- 2:26:11Speaker 3: do we eat every day in America?
- 2:26:13Speaker 1: Because I know I can account for three in my house.
- 2:26:18Speaker 3: Twenty two million chickens every day. Son, that's nuts. That
- 2:26:23Speaker 3: is a crazy amount. That's way bigger than the entire
- 2:26:27Speaker 3: residents of Los Angeles. If every person was a chicken,
- 2:26:31Speaker 3: every we eat that amount in this country every day.
- 2:26:34Speaker 3: That's crazy.
- 2:26:35Speaker 5: In my home alone, if we roasting chicken and were
- 2:26:40Speaker 5: going to get a roast chicken, we're gonna get three
- 2:26:42Speaker 5: of them because it's going to I didn't even know
- 2:26:44Speaker 5: that I could eat a whole chicken by myself until
- 2:26:47Speaker 5: I did it. It's like, yo, man, is this muslim
- 2:26:54Speaker 5: um grocery store they sell them in there. It's already roasted,
- 2:26:58Speaker 5: and you get two garlic sauces with each chicken. And
- 2:27:02Speaker 5: once you dip a piece of that chicken and they garga,
- 2:27:05Speaker 5: it's not gonna survive. Like it's like, I've bought three
- 2:27:09Speaker 5: of them because I know if two are going to
- 2:27:10Speaker 5: make it home, I have to eat this one by myself.
- 2:27:13Speaker 5: And they put on a piece of peit of bread.
- 2:27:15Speaker 5: It's already roasted, and it's insane that I would eat
- 2:27:20Speaker 5: a whole chicken by myself.
- 2:27:21Speaker 3: Estimate suggests twenty four to twenty six million chickens are
- 2:27:24Speaker 3: killed every day in the United States for meat. So
- 2:27:28Speaker 3: if you don't want factory farming, you got to figure
- 2:27:32Speaker 3: out a solution where you can get twenty six million
- 2:27:34Speaker 3: chickens a day, or you convince people that need to
- 2:27:37Speaker 3: stop eating meat.
- 2:27:39Speaker 5: But if we look at like say if I'm looking
- 2:27:42Speaker 5: at a show on Game of Throngs or House Dragons,
- 2:27:47Speaker 5: when I would see them sit down to eat, it
- 2:27:50Speaker 5: was a lot of meat on that table.
- 2:27:53Speaker 1: Yeah, very variations of meat.
- 2:27:55Speaker 5: It's a whole thing. I've never seen the Kings sit down.
- 2:27:58Speaker 5: It wasn't a whole entire pig on the table.
- 2:28:03Speaker 1: And then if you.
- 2:28:05Speaker 5: Most people haven't bought a lamb, and you think that
- 2:28:09Speaker 5: a lamb is enough, it depends on what you on.
- 2:28:14Speaker 5: Who's there, if you if we if it's he it
- 2:28:17Speaker 5: and it's after the fast and you put a lamb
- 2:28:20Speaker 5: on a few and all these Muslim families come your ouse,
- 2:28:24Speaker 5: that's that's not enough.
- 2:28:25Speaker 1: You need another lamb. You need you need two lambs,
- 2:28:28Speaker 1: like whole lambs like it.
- 2:28:30Speaker 3: Man, It's meat is delicious, it's great. For you too.
- 2:28:34Speaker 3: Don't let anybody tell you any difference.
- 2:28:36Speaker 5: And and they can, but I'm not really listening, like
- 2:28:39Speaker 5: when somebody tell when somebody tell me about a vegan situation,
- 2:28:43Speaker 5: I'll listen to you, but none of it is going.
- 2:28:48Speaker 5: And it's like you know how I say, something comes
- 2:28:50Speaker 5: in one end and go out the other. It's not
- 2:28:52Speaker 5: even going in the ear.
- 2:28:53Speaker 1: It's like it's like I've already made my decision, Like okay,
- 2:28:56Speaker 1: I'll fear you, but I'm not really listening to you.
- 2:29:00Speaker 1: I'm eating the lamb go.
- 2:29:02Speaker 3: I mean, life eats life. It's just the factory farming
- 2:29:06Speaker 3: thing is the uncomfortable part. That's the gross part. And
- 2:29:09Speaker 3: if you just were on a ranch, it's natural.
- 2:29:13Speaker 1: You want to get overtaken.
- 2:29:15Speaker 5: Just let the animals just do their thing and see
- 2:29:19Speaker 5: how many see see don't you see a I am
- 2:29:22Speaker 5: legend taught you that, Like, yo, how many.
- 2:29:27Speaker 1: Antlers ran through a play with a stampede?
- 2:29:30Speaker 5: Like it's a so even like with the thing that
- 2:29:33Speaker 5: happens in the ocean sardines, right, so it's mass. All
- 2:29:38Speaker 5: these mass sardines come one spot. Then the whales come first,
- 2:29:43Speaker 5: then the sharks come, and then then we.
- 2:29:47Speaker 1: Still get sardines.
- 2:29:49Speaker 5: After all these this ecosystem is eating, we still get sardines.
- 2:29:53Speaker 5: It's you're not running out of natural for if you
- 2:29:57Speaker 5: let everything do it do his thing. You know, do
- 2:29:59Speaker 5: you know how many jellyfish it is? Somebody should start
- 2:30:02Speaker 5: eating them? And then because that is a crazy jellyfish.
- 2:30:06Speaker 1: Can mob out like mob out and they can kill you,
- 2:30:10Speaker 1: and they can kill you. Yeah, somebody eat them. Something
- 2:30:13Speaker 1: eats them.
- 2:30:14Speaker 3: You can eat them at Chinese restaurants. I've had jellyfish before.
- 2:30:17Speaker 1: Was it good?
- 2:30:17Speaker 3: I don't remember it being good. I don't remember where
- 2:30:20Speaker 3: I ate it, but I remember someone cooked a specific
- 2:30:23Speaker 3: type of jellyfish and I was like, okay, So I
- 2:30:25Speaker 3: didn't even know you could cook that in Texas and
- 2:30:28Speaker 3: jellyfish are edible.
- 2:30:31Speaker 5: In Texas and Louisiana. The amount of crawfish that we
- 2:30:35Speaker 5: eat in two months is literally insane.
- 2:30:39Speaker 3: Imagine they didn't imagine what crawfish would be.
- 2:30:42Speaker 5: Imagine I know I can account for at least fifty
- 2:30:47Speaker 5: pounds by myselfe.
- 2:30:50Speaker 3: How many crawfish there would be if people weren't eating them.
- 2:30:53Speaker 3: Like when I was a kid, I grew up in
- 2:30:55Speaker 3: Florida for a while, we lived in Florida in Gainesville,
- 2:30:57Speaker 3: and there was allegace the Florida but they were protect
- 2:31:00Speaker 3: did back then, the alligators were protected, like the Everglades.
- 2:31:04Speaker 3: Well it wasn't the Everglades quite here, Okay, hold on
- 2:31:07Speaker 3: edible jellyfish, best known edible species and using Asian cuisine.
- 2:31:12Speaker 3: Oh boy, try to say that word. Rope Belema escalentum,
- 2:31:18Speaker 3: often referred to as the Japanese edible jellyfish. That's a
- 2:31:21Speaker 3: lot easier, or flame jellyfish. Yeah, so there's a few
- 2:31:25Speaker 3: different species of jellyfish. Anyway, My point was when I
- 2:31:30Speaker 3: was a kid, alligators were protected and they were at
- 2:31:32Speaker 3: this lake and you could see them and people would
- 2:31:34Speaker 3: throw marshballs in the water and the alligators would eat them.
- 2:31:37Speaker 3: And then now there's too many, like there's so many
- 2:31:43Speaker 3: alligators there now, like they can't get rid of them.
- 2:31:45Speaker 3: They're they're in every body of water. Everywhere you go,
- 2:31:47Speaker 3: there's alligators. Yeah, the entire Everglades filled with alligators, golf
- 2:31:53Speaker 3: courses filled with alligators.
- 2:31:54Speaker 1: I remember when they when they kid got eaten that
- 2:31:59Speaker 1: oh Disney World.
- 2:32:00Speaker 5: Yeah, and I was like, yo, that's insanity, because I
- 2:32:04Speaker 5: don't trust a puddle of water in Florida. No, I
- 2:32:08Speaker 5: a puddle. It could be a puddle. I'm like, it's
- 2:32:10Speaker 5: an alligator there. It's like what they removed four hundred
- 2:32:13Speaker 5: some odd alligators from disney World.
- 2:32:16Speaker 3: Oh, they remove them all the time. They have to
- 2:32:19Speaker 3: check every day. I have to go back there and
- 2:32:21Speaker 3: make sure that there's no alligators.
- 2:32:22Speaker 1: It's like a huge number.
- 2:32:24Speaker 3: It's a huge number.
- 2:32:25Speaker 5: That's like maybe twenty four this year, forty or something
- 2:32:28Speaker 5: this year, but it's four hundred and something in a
- 2:32:31Speaker 5: wild Like that's insane.
- 2:32:32Speaker 3: You know, disney World has a bass fishing lake. You
- 2:32:35Speaker 3: can go bass fishing at disney World. There's like a
- 2:32:38Speaker 3: little trip that you take. You go there. Four hundred
- 2:32:41Speaker 3: and fourteen alligators removed from disney World since Toddler's death
- 2:32:44Speaker 3: ten years ago. That's a lot of monsters. It's a
- 2:32:49Speaker 3: lot of monsters. Man, they're legit monsters.
- 2:32:53Speaker 1: I remember when I was in Guam.
- 2:32:55Speaker 5: I was in Guam doing the show and I think
- 2:32:57Speaker 5: the military moved there and it was a bird that
- 2:33:00Speaker 5: they was trying to protect, and so they killed all
- 2:33:04Speaker 5: these snakes. And this is how when you change the
- 2:33:06Speaker 5: ecosystem to something, something happens.
- 2:33:09Speaker 1: So the snakes.
- 2:33:11Speaker 5: Not only were they eating that bird, but they were
- 2:33:14Speaker 5: eating and controlling the toad population. So when they got
- 2:33:19Speaker 5: rid of the snake, we were coming back from the
- 2:33:23Speaker 5: show and it's like it's literally hundreds of.
- 2:33:28Speaker 1: Thousands of frogs that come out at night. They everywhere.
- 2:33:34Speaker 5: It's like you just see them flat in the street
- 2:33:36Speaker 5: because you can't not you can't miss them there. It
- 2:33:39Speaker 5: was hundreds of thousands of frogs on WAM and I
- 2:33:44Speaker 5: was like, yo, man, they up everything.
- 2:33:46Speaker 3: They gotta do something, man, people Metal, bring the snake back,
- 2:33:49Speaker 3: got to bring the snakes stop. Stop, stop your bullshit
- 2:33:55Speaker 3: people just Metal. I mean, there's so many countries that
- 2:33:58Speaker 3: are infested with animals. The people brought in to kill
- 2:34:01Speaker 3: other animals, you know, like Australia is a giant feral
- 2:34:04Speaker 3: cat problem. They brought in feral cats, I think to
- 2:34:07Speaker 3: kill it. I forget what species. I think it was
- 2:34:10Speaker 3: a toad.
- 2:34:10Speaker 1: They were trying to kill off my neighborhood as a
- 2:34:12Speaker 1: goddamn cat problem.
- 2:34:15Speaker 5: My neighborhood is like one cat has some babies and
- 2:34:21Speaker 5: my family had something to do with it. We fed,
- 2:34:23Speaker 5: we fed the cat, and then of.
- 2:34:25Speaker 3: Course you want to be nice. Meanwhile, they're killing billions
- 2:34:30Speaker 3: of birds every year in this country. Cats. So I
- 2:34:33Speaker 3: love cats. I love cats too, but they kill billions
- 2:34:36Speaker 3: house Cats kill billions of birds and mammals in this
- 2:34:39Speaker 3: country every year.
- 2:34:40Speaker 5: If you don't have a bug problem, if you have
- 2:34:42Speaker 5: a cat in your house, because you know, we had
- 2:34:44Speaker 5: these water bugs. They call them cockroaches. But I've watched
- 2:34:48Speaker 5: it before I left. The cat that just outside he
- 2:34:51Speaker 5: was just slapping one around. It's like five of them
- 2:34:53Speaker 5: dead out there. He was just slapping one around, like
- 2:34:56Speaker 5: just toying with him.
- 2:34:58Speaker 1: But I don't mind because then they never or make
- 2:35:00Speaker 1: it into my house. It's like cats.
- 2:35:04Speaker 3: You know about the four pest campaign that happened in China.
- 2:35:07Speaker 1: What is that?
- 2:35:08Speaker 3: What they do?
- 2:35:09Speaker 4: It explains it to you in just these little form.
- 2:35:10Speaker 3: Under MAU aimed at exterminating rats, flies, mosquitos, and sparrows
- 2:35:14Speaker 3: as a part of the Great Leap Forward. It was
- 2:35:17Speaker 3: framed as a public hygiene and agricultural protection drive meant
- 2:35:20Speaker 3: to reduce disease and protect grain from being eaten or contaminated.
- 2:35:23Speaker 3: Mass mobilization methods included trapping and poisoning rats, swatting flies, mosquitos,
- 2:35:28Speaker 3: and organized efforts to scare and kill sparrows.
- 2:35:33Speaker 4: It was like that, it's before you get to the end. Here.
- 2:35:35Speaker 4: They had one little problem, so they introduced something else
- 2:35:37Speaker 4: to fix that problem. That created a new problem, so
- 2:35:39Speaker 4: they introduced something else to fix that problem. Yeah, ended
- 2:35:42Speaker 4: here with tens of millions of people dying from a
- 2:35:45Speaker 4: famine because they didn't have the natural ecosystem.
- 2:35:49Speaker 3: So this is crazy. So sparrows were targeted because they
- 2:35:53Speaker 3: ate grain seeds, but they also consumed large numbers of
- 2:35:56Speaker 3: crop eating insects. Their near extinction caused an ecoloze imbalance,
- 2:36:00Speaker 3: leading to insect population booms, lower crop yields, and contributing
- 2:36:04Speaker 3: to Chinese famine, the Great Chinese Famine, which tens of
- 2:36:07Speaker 3: millions died. Wow, you to get something, Yeah, man, you
- 2:36:12Speaker 3: don't think you're smarter than nature, you dumb fuck.
- 2:36:16Speaker 1: You gotta give something to get because there's.
- 2:36:18Speaker 3: A balance out there and we don't totally understand that balance.
- 2:36:21Speaker 1: What's this fish that we have now, Asian carp.
- 2:36:25Speaker 3: The one that's infested all the different lakes, and then
- 2:36:27Speaker 3: the snakehead that's another one.
- 2:36:29Speaker 1: Then that the jon't that torpedoes up, So.
- 2:36:32Speaker 3: That's the Asian carp. Yeah, they fly through the air.
- 2:36:34Speaker 3: When you're in a boat, they just for whatever reason,
- 2:36:36Speaker 3: when you're in a boat, they just try to throw
- 2:36:38Speaker 3: themselves onto the boat, like, give me the fuck out
- 2:36:43Speaker 3: of this lake. There's so many of them, and they
- 2:36:46Speaker 3: don't have a natural predator, and that they bring them
- 2:36:48Speaker 3: into places sometimes to clean up the algae. And then
- 2:36:51Speaker 3: also now you have a carp problem. Now the car
- 2:36:54Speaker 3: beat all the algae. They eat everything where it's like
- 2:36:57Speaker 3: your whole lake looks like a swimming pool. There's no
- 2:36:59Speaker 3: algae left. Look at these fucking things. That is crazy.
- 2:37:04Speaker 3: That's the Illinois River. I mean, this is just one
- 2:37:06Speaker 3: hundreds of fish just flying through the air everywhere they go.
- 2:37:11Speaker 3: How nuts is that? You ever see people they shoot
- 2:37:13Speaker 3: them with bows and arrows, so they wait from the
- 2:37:15Speaker 3: hop up in the end they try to catch them
- 2:37:17Speaker 3: in the air with a bow and arrow. Yeah, there's
- 2:37:20Speaker 3: a bunch of people do that. That's a very popular sport.
- 2:37:26Speaker 1: Is this fish edible?
- 2:37:27Speaker 3: I don't know. I've never heard of anybody eat. I
- 2:37:30Speaker 3: know people eat regular carp. I don't know if asian
- 2:37:33Speaker 3: is Asian carp edible. Yep, there you go.
- 2:37:38Speaker 1: It's lean and nutritious, clean flavor, so I would just
- 2:37:43Speaker 1: have a net roll them behind me in.
- 2:37:45Speaker 3: The filet of fish. There you go, don't you guys
- 2:37:47Speaker 3: need product? There you go, get out there with bows
- 2:37:50Speaker 3: and arrows and get it done.
- 2:37:51Speaker 5: How many crawlfish does Texas and Louisiana consume in crawfish season?
- 2:37:57Speaker 3: That's a good question. I guess you would have to
- 2:37:59Speaker 3: do it pounds, right? Would you do it in pounds
- 2:38:01Speaker 3: or millions of actual crawfish? Because they they don't measure
- 2:38:05Speaker 3: them in individuals. They wait may buy weight, right, because
- 2:38:09Speaker 3: they're kind of.
- 2:38:10Speaker 1: They go buy weight.
- 2:38:11Speaker 3: How many pounds of crawfish do you think Texas? Just
- 2:38:14Speaker 3: say Texas and Louisiana in a year fifty million?
- 2:38:20Speaker 4: I have to ask again, but it did give me
- 2:38:22Speaker 4: ninety percent of the farm crawfish comes from Louisiana.
- 2:38:25Speaker 3: Yeah, wow, how many pounds? Give me the answer? How
- 2:38:31Speaker 3: many pounds is? I know I went way too high?
- 2:38:34Speaker 3: How many pounds does Texas and Louisiana consume in a year?
- 2:38:38Speaker 3: I'm gonna say two million pounds? No, I gotta be
- 2:38:43Speaker 3: really two million pounds a lot. It's fucking way more
- 2:38:47Speaker 3: than that. What is it?
- 2:38:48Speaker 4: What is the seventy percent of the consumed amount is
- 2:38:52Speaker 4: eaten in Louisiana, and the total is a upwards of
- 2:38:55Speaker 4: one hundred and fifty million pounds. Yeah, I'm trying to
- 2:38:59Speaker 4: one hundred twenty to one hundred and fifty million annually.
- 2:39:02Speaker 3: Whoa, yeah, justin Louisiana.
- 2:39:05Speaker 4: Which is almost one hundred million pounds of that is
- 2:39:07Speaker 4: just in Louisiana.
- 2:39:10Speaker 1: Not crae between crawfish boils and crawfi to fe. That
- 2:39:15Speaker 1: is delicious.
- 2:39:18Speaker 3: Hey, that's delicious.
- 2:39:19Speaker 4: That is a crazy This doesn't have a number, just
- 2:39:22Speaker 4: just tens of millions all we needed.
- 2:39:24Speaker 3: We've got the Louisiana we thought to will be to
- 2:39:28Speaker 3: double with the whole country.
- 2:39:30Speaker 5: Like Maryland actually thinks that they are big on cry
- 2:39:35Speaker 5: out and we and we just be shaking our head
- 2:39:37Speaker 5: like okay, it's no, I think we ship crab to them.
- 2:39:45Speaker 5: Like the Chesapeake Bay cannot outdo the Gulf of Mexico.
- 2:39:49Speaker 3: No, we golf of America.
- 2:39:51Speaker 1: Now, by the way, it is we we still we still.
- 2:39:56Speaker 1: You know, I don't think Mexico agreed. Don't think they
- 2:40:01Speaker 1: do either, Like, no, you know, this is not the
- 2:40:03Speaker 1: gun the guff of America. We like we're not saying it.
- 2:40:07Speaker 3: That's hilarious. Hey brother, it's great talk to you again
- 2:40:12Speaker 3: as always, so much fun. Man, very good to do.
- 2:40:15Speaker 3: Thank you do it more often.
- 2:40:16Speaker 1: Man, I'm here, okay, let's do it.
- 2:40:19Speaker 3: It's always fun. Tell everybody where they want if they
- 2:40:22Speaker 3: want to consume. Are your specials? All of it's on YouTube?
- 2:40:25Speaker 1: Is it?
- 2:40:25Speaker 5: All of it's on YouTube, but you can go to
- 2:40:27Speaker 5: Ali Sadiq dot com the new specially at my father
