- 0:02Speaker 1: Happy Friday, Different Friday, crew, I'm here there, Zenski, Kipness
- 0:07Speaker 1: and wet a different night on a Thursday. What what happened?
- 0:12Speaker 2: Wait? Wait? Wait? How did you get back from Antarctica
- 0:14Speaker 2: so fast?
- 0:15Speaker 1: I didn't. It took me two days.
- 0:18Speaker 3: Kid, you missed it. Scott was in Antarctica for a
- 0:21Speaker 3: couple I did, and then he was. Then he was
- 0:23Speaker 3: supposed to be back, Yester, what we play.
- 0:27Speaker 1: There's a problem though, because sometimes people can't take AJ's sarcasm,
- 0:32Speaker 1: so they might actually think that I was in Antarctica.
- 0:35Speaker 1: I was not, So please don't ask me for restaurant
- 0:37Speaker 1: suggestions out there. I don't know about the polar bear
- 0:41Speaker 1: secret restaurants, speakeasy that exists, or anything like that.
- 0:45Speaker 3: But well, the polar bears are in the Arctic, so
- 0:47Speaker 3: obviously you weren't in Antarctica because you would not see
- 0:49Speaker 3: a polar bear in Antarctica.
- 0:51Speaker 1: I said, don't ask, because I won't have an answer
- 0:54Speaker 1: and the answer would be wrong. The reason I say
- 0:56Speaker 1: this is because AJ at one point said I was somewhere.
- 0:59Speaker 1: I don't remember what it was, but he said I
- 1:01Speaker 1: was somewhere. It was something Miami related. I want to say,
- 1:03Speaker 1: AJ that you said maybe a couple months ago, and
- 1:05Speaker 1: then everybody thought I was there for real, and I
- 1:07Speaker 1: was like, I'm really not there.
- 1:10Speaker 3: All people were dumb, was people are dumb? Do you
- 1:12Speaker 3: listen to me anything that I say, You're dumb?
- 1:16Speaker 1: Wait till we get to the Tigers segment later. But
- 1:19Speaker 1: before all of that, they loved me.
- 1:21Speaker 2: They loved me.
- 1:23Speaker 1: Let's start with the Field of Dreams game. What were
- 1:26Speaker 1: our thoughts here, Kip? Did did you know live up
- 1:29Speaker 1: to what you expected? Now that we've seen it a
- 1:32Speaker 1: few times, but we hadn't seen it in a little bit.
- 1:36Speaker 4: I always think it's fun. I always think it's very cool.
- 1:39Speaker 4: I got a Field of Dreams. That was my first
- 1:41Speaker 4: tattoo on the inside of my arm, the quote from there.
- 1:43Speaker 4: So I love just the look of it, the feel
- 1:45Speaker 4: of it. I love that they do it once a year,
- 1:47Speaker 4: so I was happy to see it again and seeing
- 1:51Speaker 4: one and a half shore bows with the help of
- 1:54Speaker 4: the right fielder on the second one a little bit
- 1:57Speaker 4: and then but no, just a good ball game again.
- 1:59Speaker 4: It's it's one of those ones where you just really
- 2:01Speaker 4: kind of take a step back and enjoyed the game
- 2:03Speaker 4: of baseball.
- 2:03Speaker 1: For me, how they do aj.
- 2:07Speaker 3: The game was boring. Uh Shoarberg. I should have bet
- 2:09Speaker 3: on Shorebert because you know he's gonna hit and run
- 2:11Speaker 3: in a special game. That should have been my lock.
- 2:15Speaker 2: The game was boring. They did great.
- 2:16Speaker 3: I thought it was interesting that they had all they
- 2:18Speaker 3: had twenty six Hall of Famers come out, which was
- 2:21Speaker 3: really cool. I thought they every time the players walk
- 2:24Speaker 3: out of the corn, it's really awesome.
- 2:26Speaker 2: You know.
- 2:26Speaker 3: Listen, we've talked about these special games, and I was
- 2:29Speaker 3: at the first one, and the first one was so
- 2:31Speaker 3: good with the Tim Anderson walk off and the it
- 2:34Speaker 3: was the Yankees versus the White Sox, right, and it
- 2:36Speaker 3: was just an incredible game. And then the next year
- 2:39Speaker 3: it kind of lost a little luster. And then they
- 2:40Speaker 3: took a couple of years off and and Netflix tried
- 2:43Speaker 3: to make this feel like a big game, and the
- 2:44Speaker 3: Hall of Famers did that. But it's just so hard
- 2:48Speaker 3: because I don't know, I don't know, Okay, I mean,
- 2:51Speaker 3: I think it's really cool when we do these one
- 2:53Speaker 3: off games. It's just hard when you do the same
- 2:55Speaker 3: one over and over again, like the Williamsport one. To
- 2:57Speaker 3: me is different because you have the little leaguers, the right,
- 3:00Speaker 3: So you have all the little leaguers there, and that's
- 3:02Speaker 3: a different feel because the little leaguers are.
- 3:04Speaker 4: So into it.
- 3:05Speaker 2: I get that one.
- 3:05Speaker 3: Yeah, But if you've never been to Dyersville, Iowa, I'm sorry.
- 3:10Speaker 3: I think it's an unbelievably cool place. It's just so
- 3:13Speaker 3: hard to get to for the teams, for the fans,
- 3:15Speaker 3: for everybody.
- 3:16Speaker 2: And I don't know. I mean they're doing again next
- 3:18Speaker 2: year Royals and Red Sox. That'll be cool.
- 3:21Speaker 3: But you know, I love that everyone wanted, you know,
- 3:25Speaker 3: the Clemens boys wanted to play catch, but you know
- 3:28Speaker 3: it's hard to. It's hard to, you know, Roger, Cody, sorry,
- 3:32Speaker 3: my son and Austin and I did this first, so
- 3:34Speaker 3: we ended the first one doing this, so first broadcast,
- 3:37Speaker 3: so you know, way to try to keep up.
- 3:38Speaker 4: Boys. I think they're definitely gonna be trying to chase
- 3:42Speaker 4: that first game the first time they did it with
- 3:44Speaker 4: like you said, the Tim Madison walk off, that game
- 3:45Speaker 4: was perfect and you really can't match that with the
- 3:49Speaker 4: little leaguers there. There's obviously gonna be new little leaguers
- 3:51Speaker 4: there every year, so I think that's gonna be fun
- 3:53Speaker 4: and the excitement and just the interviews with the guys
- 3:55Speaker 4: in the crowd and stuff like that. I think as
- 3:57Speaker 4: long as they keep switching the teams that are doing it,
- 4:00Speaker 4: so each city kind of gets to enjoy it at
- 4:01Speaker 4: least one time, that'll allow them at least a little
- 4:05Speaker 4: bit of time until they can think of their next one.
- 4:07Speaker 4: But they gotta Yeah, I agree that sometimes you might
- 4:09Speaker 4: need to add in a one off somewhere else amongst
- 4:13Speaker 4: this one too to keep it fresh.
- 4:16Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm with you. That's cool.
- 4:18Speaker 2: It is cool.
- 4:20Speaker 3: And for players, you know this kid, when you get
- 4:21Speaker 3: to play in something different, it breaks up to monotony.
- 4:24Speaker 4: This season, it kind of reminds you. I mean, you
- 4:27Speaker 4: remember this if you go back, like your rookie season,
- 4:30Speaker 4: or like the first time you get to play at
- 4:31Speaker 4: every new stadium was awesome, Like just walking in there,
- 4:35Speaker 4: no matter what stadium it was, it was just the
- 4:37Speaker 4: first time for you. So I always thought that was
- 4:39Speaker 4: the coolest thing in the world. So I hope it
- 4:41Speaker 4: resets that for a lot of the big leaguers where
- 4:43Speaker 4: it's like, oh, this is a cool feeling again, like
- 4:45Speaker 4: a little butterflies and stuff like that. So I don't
- 4:48Speaker 4: know where else would be options. I don't know what
- 4:50Speaker 4: other kind of fun options they could think of, but
- 4:52Speaker 4: this was a good one. I'd like them to keep
- 4:54Speaker 4: keep going at it, though, keep going to the back
- 4:56Speaker 4: of the drawing board and think of cool stuff. Though.
- 4:58Speaker 4: I think fans can enjoy this.
- 5:00Speaker 1: Yes, I like the creative options. I want more of them.
- 5:03Speaker 1: Are you guys okay with doing this every year? Would
- 5:05Speaker 1: you rather have them come up with some other creative
- 5:07Speaker 1: options and just make remember they didn't do whatever?
- 5:10Speaker 2: I think it mixed us in every two to three just.
- 5:13Speaker 4: To keep it fresh, the specific one, this specific keep.
- 5:16Speaker 1: Mixing field teams. Yeah, yeah, Like I liked it better
- 5:19Speaker 1: that we hadn't seen it in what it had been
- 5:20Speaker 1: two years or one year, a few years.
- 5:24Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, I think there's plenty of options. I
- 5:27Speaker 3: thought the race the race track one would have been
- 5:28Speaker 3: great if they didn't have the rain last year. Yeah,
- 5:30Speaker 3: I thought that would have been really cool. You know,
- 5:33Speaker 3: the the London series I got to go to was incredible. Uh,
- 5:37Speaker 3: if they could bounce it around I know at one
- 5:38Speaker 3: point they were talking about going to France to do it.
- 5:41Speaker 3: If you bounce it around, Spain, wherever you can do it,
- 5:43Speaker 3: like kind of like what the NFL does Germany. Things
- 5:47Speaker 3: like that are awesome just because it's different and you
- 5:50Speaker 3: and you get new fans and you get people that
- 5:52Speaker 3: want to travel. The problem is you have to pick
- 5:53Speaker 3: certain teams, right, because you can't have and I mean
- 5:57Speaker 3: this and I don't mean this any disrespect, everyone's going
- 6:00Speaker 3: to take it like this, Like you can't have the
- 6:03Speaker 3: smaller market teams like a Raise and a let's say
- 6:05Speaker 3: Pirates go over to play in wherever. You have to
- 6:09Speaker 3: have at least one of the big market teams so
- 6:11Speaker 3: people will travel and they get excited about it. I
- 6:13Speaker 3: think that's that's important, and that's why some of these
- 6:16Speaker 3: games are hard even next year. Right, the Royals and
- 6:18Speaker 3: the Red Sox, Right, the Royals and the Red Sox.
- 6:21Speaker 3: Royals are a smaller market, the Red Sox are a
- 6:22Speaker 3: bigger market, so Royals are somewhat close. They're one of
- 6:25Speaker 3: the blackout teams in Iowa, and then you have the
- 6:27Speaker 3: Red Sox coming in this year was the Phillies and
- 6:29Speaker 3: the Twins. Another blackedout team, the Twins, and then you
- 6:32Speaker 3: have the Phillies who are bigger markets.
- 6:34Speaker 2: So you have to kind of do it like this.
- 6:36Speaker 1: That's a good point. I didn't think about that. You
- 6:38Speaker 1: keep inviting the teams that you can't watch in that state. Right,
- 6:42Speaker 1: So if you're in Iowa and you don't get to
- 6:43Speaker 1: watch the Royals for a really dumb reason, then you
- 6:46Speaker 1: can go to the game and watch them one time.
- 6:49Speaker 3: Every time they've done it, it's been a blackout team,
- 6:51Speaker 3: the White Sox, the Cubs, the Royals, and the Twins.
- 6:56Speaker 1: See, they have got to figure that out.
- 6:59Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, here's one. It's inane.
- 7:01Speaker 1: Six teams, it's insane. Let's talk Fabletics, shall we. They
- 7:07Speaker 1: have apparel for every season. We're wearing it as we
- 7:10Speaker 1: talk about it. It's soft, it's comfortable. I wear it
- 7:13Speaker 1: on the show sometimes on FT. What else do you
- 7:15Speaker 1: love about it? Krats?
- 7:16Speaker 5: Well, I have it on right now and I'm all
- 7:19Speaker 5: about quality. But you know what, you know how good
- 7:22Speaker 5: your clothes are when you're a parent and your kids
- 7:25Speaker 5: keep stealing all of it. My daughter stole the sweatshirt,
- 7:29Speaker 5: my son sole one of my t shirts. So it's
- 7:31Speaker 5: got to be nice looking.
- 7:33Speaker 1: And if it gets a little bit chillier, then it's
- 7:35Speaker 1: layering season, and they've got layers for the fall. Shop
- 7:39Speaker 1: now at fabletics dot com. Slash foul to get seventy
- 7:42Speaker 1: to eighty percent off everything when you sign up as
- 7:45Speaker 1: a new VIP. Take a quick style quiz and be
- 7:48Speaker 1: sure to select foul when prompted to unlock this offer.
- 7:52Speaker 1: This is a limited time offer, so do not wait again.
- 7:55Speaker 1: That's fabletics dot Com Slash foul for seventy eighty percent
- 8:00Speaker 1: off everything as a new VIP.
- 8:05Speaker 4: Charge out.
- 8:07Speaker 1: All right, lay this out for us, AJA, It's not
- 8:09Speaker 1: just what happened. It's actually one of the better starters
- 8:12Speaker 1: on the White Sox who hadn't been as good in
- 8:13Speaker 1: the second half or in the after the first couple
- 8:15Speaker 1: months of the season pitching and then getting booted from
- 8:18Speaker 1: a game and then also the relievers coming in and
- 8:21Speaker 1: giving up more runs. So it might have cost the
- 8:22Speaker 1: White Sox a game they lost by a run. Davis
- 8:25Speaker 1: Martin ejected from a game throwing little buzz action to
- 8:29Speaker 1: Sal Stewart. So you guys started touching on this at
- 8:33Speaker 1: the end of the episode on Thursday, but give us
- 8:36Speaker 1: the full scope now on Friday of what you saw
- 8:39Speaker 1: and how both sides should feel. Well.
- 8:42Speaker 3: First of all, I think Davis Martin went on the
- 8:44Speaker 3: il with a blister today so that's that hurts the
- 8:47Speaker 3: White Sox as far as yesterday goes is if you
- 8:50Speaker 3: didn't see sal Stewart's first about he hit an absolute
- 8:53Speaker 3: freaking bomb off Davis Martin, who pimped it. And you
- 8:56Speaker 3: know what, that's the way game is played today. Davis
- 8:59Speaker 3: Martin didn't like he threw the first pitch over his head. Okay,
- 9:02Speaker 3: I listen. I like Davis Martin a lot. Davis Martin
- 9:05Speaker 3: has been on a boat cruise with me. He's a
- 9:06Speaker 3: great kid.
- 9:07Speaker 2: I love him.
- 9:07Speaker 3: He's tough as nails. He wants to be out there.
- 9:10Speaker 3: But you can't throw one over a guy's head and
- 9:11Speaker 3: then you can't hit him in the head the next pitch.
- 9:13Speaker 3: I'm sorry, he hit his helmet, right, So you threw two,
- 9:16Speaker 3: and that's what Sala Stewart's pissed about. Sala Stewart goes, hey, bleep, bleep,
- 9:20Speaker 3: that's two, right, So he threw two at his head.
- 9:23Speaker 3: Now one I normally only get one shot. Now he
- 9:25Speaker 3: got two shots and he hit him in the head.
- 9:27Speaker 2: Listen. I was thrown at a lot of times.
- 9:28Speaker 3: In my career. Very fortunate no one ever threw my head.
- 9:31Speaker 3: Did I get it in the back? The shoulder, the ribs,
- 9:34Speaker 3: the butt all the time. Right, Fine, you get up
- 9:37Speaker 3: in this area, you're messing with people's livelihood. Okay, And
- 9:41Speaker 3: did Davis Martin mean to do it?
- 9:42Speaker 2: He says he did it.
- 9:43Speaker 3: But when you throw two pitches up here when you're
- 9:47Speaker 3: down in a way kind of guy, right, Kip, that
- 9:49Speaker 3: shows you that, holy crap, something's not right here.
- 9:54Speaker 4: Well let's be clear, No, no guy's gonna come out
- 9:57Speaker 4: after doing that and be like, yeah, I meant to
- 9:59Speaker 4: do it, got them, or that's just going to add
- 10:01Speaker 4: to a suspension or anything like that. So I don't
- 10:03Speaker 4: I don't believe him either that he didn't mean to
- 10:05Speaker 4: do it, but uh, echoing off what or piggybacking off
- 10:11Speaker 4: what AJ said. It's like, your hurt feelings doesn't mean
- 10:13Speaker 4: I have to have a hurt concussion or a hurt head.
- 10:15Speaker 4: I think we a lot of the guys that play
- 10:18Speaker 4: this game enjoy the policing of the game, the self
- 10:20Speaker 4: policing of the game, and don't don't have a problem
- 10:24Speaker 4: with what comes next after a pimp job or something
- 10:26Speaker 4: like that, if it's worthy of it, if it calls
- 10:29Speaker 4: for it. So, but I think you just got to
- 10:30Speaker 4: keep it below the neck, and I mean we're going
- 10:35Speaker 4: to get into the just get him out. If you
- 10:36Speaker 4: can't get him out, then you got to deal with it.
- 10:38Speaker 4: So we have to deal with you guys screaming and
- 10:40Speaker 4: pumping your face off the mound. When you guys out,
- 10:42Speaker 4: sometimes you're going to get a pimp job off you.
- 10:44Speaker 4: Doesn't mean we get hitting the head for it, though.
- 10:48Speaker 4: So you guys have all there.
- 10:52Speaker 1: I cut you off.
- 10:53Speaker 4: The pictures have the control, they have the ball, they
- 10:56Speaker 4: have the weapon in their hands, so I mean it's
- 10:57Speaker 4: up to them. And it hurt. First off, well it
- 11:01Speaker 4: hurts like hell just even getting hit in the back
- 11:03Speaker 4: or the ass or the shin or something like that.
- 11:05Speaker 4: So it's not like your message isn't going to be sent.
- 11:08Speaker 4: It doesn't need to be above the neck.
- 11:11Speaker 3: True, that's the biggest thing I think Sal Stewar's mad about.
- 11:14Speaker 3: Like fine, but here's the thing. This is where we
- 11:15Speaker 3: get to a point where we talk about let the
- 11:19Speaker 3: kids play, right, we let the kids play. Well, it's
- 11:21Speaker 3: fine until someone gets their feelings hurt. And I'm not
- 11:23Speaker 3: saying Davis Martin got his feelings hurt. He threw out
- 11:25Speaker 3: him intentionally, Okay, but when someone gets their feelings hurt Kip.
- 11:29Speaker 3: Then a ball gets thrown at somebody and then we're like, oh, well,
- 11:32Speaker 3: we're not letting the kids play. He's mad because of
- 11:34Speaker 3: AB and C. You can't have it both ways. You
- 11:36Speaker 3: either let guys police it like he used to be,
- 11:39Speaker 3: or you do this and then you have these ejections
- 11:43Speaker 3: come up. Now Davis Martin got ejected. I'm sure well
- 11:45Speaker 3: Venable had to get ejected, right, because this isn't automatic.
- 11:48Speaker 3: If the pitcher goes, the manager goes, which means he'll
- 11:50Speaker 3: be suspended for the first game. I don't know if
- 11:52Speaker 3: that's true, but normally you get an automatic one game
- 11:55Speaker 3: suspension for these kind of things. So, I mean, sal
- 11:57Speaker 3: Stewer was pissed, and then the Reds went on to
- 11:59Speaker 3: beat the White Sox, which was the bigger story because honestly,
- 12:02Speaker 3: David Martin in pitch that great Fetti was supposed to
- 12:04Speaker 3: start today. He had to come in and relief, and
- 12:07Speaker 3: now the White Sox have to start Sean nukomb a
- 12:09Speaker 3: bullpend guy today and against the Tigers in Detroit in
- 12:12Speaker 3: a series that's really important all of a sudden, So
- 12:15Speaker 3: I mean, there's a lot of things that happened. And
- 12:17Speaker 3: but again, just don't throw it up by my head.
- 12:19Speaker 3: Listen again, you want to throw at me, I do
- 12:21Speaker 3: something stupid, fine hit me.
- 12:22Speaker 2: I don't care.
- 12:22Speaker 3: I got hit plenty of times by a lot of people,
- 12:25Speaker 3: hall of famers to nobody's okay. But at the end
- 12:28Speaker 3: of the day, if you go up and here, that's
- 12:30Speaker 3: when we have a problem. You hit me anywhere else? Okay, Fine,
- 12:32Speaker 3: I did something stupid. I'll go to first and try
- 12:34Speaker 3: to kill the second basement.
- 12:38Speaker 4: I never would have guessed it would have been the
- 12:39Speaker 4: guy they picked out to hit Aja.
- 12:41Speaker 2: Exactly exactly, yeah, exactly, And that's fine. I listen.
- 12:47Speaker 3: That was one of the reasons I did plenty of
- 12:49Speaker 3: dumb stuff and I never charged him out because I knew, Now,
- 12:54Speaker 3: did I play with guy Tory Hunter? Absolutely he would
- 12:57Speaker 3: go out there and go get a fool, right, But
- 12:59Speaker 3: that wasn't I'm like, ah, I did something dumb, all right,
- 13:01Speaker 3: I deserve.
- 13:02Speaker 2: It, and I move on and that's it.
- 13:04Speaker 3: So but then there were guys that just couldn't handle
- 13:07Speaker 3: it and they wanted to go fight.
- 13:08Speaker 2: Fine, let's fight.
- 13:09Speaker 3: But I don't know as long again, they never got
- 13:11Speaker 3: up here, they would have gotten up here. I never
- 13:13Speaker 3: got hit in the head, I never got in the face.
- 13:15Speaker 3: It would have been a different story getting hit in
- 13:17Speaker 3: the back of the ribs. Fine, I'll move on because
- 13:19Speaker 3: you know what, I didn't walk Kip, so I had
- 13:21Speaker 3: to get on base somehow, and it was by getting hit.
- 13:25Speaker 4: And we're in agreeance.
- 13:27Speaker 1: Yeah, I think there's a big difference between random time
- 13:29Speaker 1: in a game, two strike pitch. It's a good game.
- 13:32Speaker 1: Guy gets hit, thinks that he was hit on purpose,
- 13:34Speaker 1: versus guy hits a homer, pimps it. Then next day
- 13:37Speaker 1: b twice you're buzzing him like I don't care if
- 13:40Speaker 1: you didn't have the control. You're a big league pitcher.
- 13:42Speaker 1: You have to figure out how to not do that
- 13:44Speaker 1: otherwise in a problem, twice in a row.
- 13:47Speaker 3: Tw twice two pitches in a row, not even like
- 13:50Speaker 3: two in a row. It was not one in the
- 13:52Speaker 3: beginning of about one of the end of that.
- 13:53Speaker 2: It was few.
- 13:55Speaker 3: And then the second one hit him in the helmet,
- 13:56Speaker 3: I mean knocked his helmet. I'll hit the brim of
- 13:58Speaker 3: his cap.
- 14:00Speaker 1: Yeah, at some point, We've talked about this many times
- 14:02Speaker 1: in the show. It doesn't matter if you feel like
- 14:04Speaker 1: you're doing something by accident. You can't hit it dude
- 14:07Speaker 1: in the face. If you hit a dude in the
- 14:08Speaker 1: face once a game, guess what, You're not going to
- 14:10Speaker 1: be in the league long. It's just how it works.
- 14:13Speaker 1: So you got to pitture.
- 14:13Speaker 2: Their own teammates.
- 14:14Speaker 3: Your own teammates will start fighting you, right, Kip, because
- 14:17Speaker 3: no one of them is going to start getting hit,
- 14:19Speaker 3: and in your own teammates are gonna say, hey, man,
- 14:21Speaker 3: figure this out because I'm getting hit and it hurts,
- 14:23Speaker 3: So now we're going to fight your own teammates.
- 14:26Speaker 4: That's kind of brings back into that old Chase Utley
- 14:28Speaker 4: story that I love where he actually, I think Puig
- 14:31Speaker 4: and someone else some picture on when he was on
- 14:33Speaker 4: the Dodgers was doing stuff and he told the catcher
- 14:35Speaker 4: to hit him so that he knew that he could
- 14:38Speaker 4: go to Puig and be like, see what you're doing,
- 14:40Speaker 4: see what you're causing. I'm not doing it just as
- 14:42Speaker 4: this story because I don't have the down to memory,
- 14:45Speaker 4: but along those lines where it's like once other guys
- 14:48Speaker 4: start getting hit, people start getting pissed off, because it's
- 14:51Speaker 4: one thing if it's for our own actions, aj like
- 14:53Speaker 4: you said, if I get a home run or something.
- 14:54Speaker 4: If I do something stupid, I've gotten hit for it too.
- 14:57Speaker 4: If I'm getting hit for your stuff. Now we're gonna
- 14:59Speaker 4: have a little bit more of a talk.
- 15:01Speaker 3: To meet you young or not to meet your young.
- 15:03Speaker 3: Delman Young? Remember Deman Young. I think he was on
- 15:05Speaker 3: the Twins. They were playing the Tigers. He got hit
- 15:07Speaker 3: and he didn't yell at the other team. He went
- 15:09Speaker 3: in his dugout and was yelling at their guys. I
- 15:11Speaker 3: don't know if you remember that, but he was pissed right.
- 15:13Speaker 3: He got hit and he threw his bat and I
- 15:15Speaker 3: think they were on the first base doug line, first
- 15:18Speaker 3: base dugout. He went over to his dugout was like, hey, dudes,
- 15:20Speaker 3: like this is because of y'all's stupid butts, and so yeah,
- 15:24Speaker 3: that was That was perfect.
- 15:26Speaker 4: It's an awesome story though, so I'm not again not
- 15:29Speaker 4: doing it justice. So anybody wants to hear the rest
- 15:31Speaker 4: of her. Look it up. The chase outley with the
- 15:32Speaker 4: Dodgers kind of telling the catcher to hit him so
- 15:34Speaker 4: he can go back to his dugout and be like,
- 15:36Speaker 4: you guys are getting me hit. Clean it the hell up,
- 15:38Speaker 4: and like it's really it's such a veteran move. It's
- 15:42Speaker 4: it's an awesome story though true.
- 15:46Speaker 3: Meanwhile, my teammates were like hit him. To me, They're like,
- 15:50Speaker 3: I did it? Just hit him?
- 15:51Speaker 4: And I'm like, okay, fine.
- 15:54Speaker 1: AJ loves his on base percent that much that he
- 16:01Speaker 1: would take the hit for his teammates and for his bad.
- 16:04Speaker 4: Hey, if we're zero for three, we're like, come get us.
- 16:08Speaker 2: Please please, oh too.
- 16:11Speaker 4: I want to see first base.
- 16:14Speaker 1: In the break here for the TV crowd, but talking
- 16:16Speaker 1: to YouTube will shout out some big performances. Braxton Ashcraft
- 16:19Speaker 1: have a year complete game three hitter, one run, one walk,
- 16:23Speaker 1: ten strikeouts, dominated the Marlins Pirates needing to pick up
- 16:26Speaker 1: dubbs left and right, and why partially because AJ covered
- 16:31Speaker 1: this on the show the other day. Kip. The Pirates
- 16:33Speaker 1: are nine and sixteen and Paul Skeen starts. Ashcraft has
- 16:36Speaker 1: been awesome for them, but most of the pitching has
- 16:39Speaker 1: had its issues, right Mitch Keller's down for the year.
- 16:41Speaker 1: Bullpen's been mostly terrible for the Pirates. Man, if they
- 16:44Speaker 1: had decent pitching, which is what we thought they would have,
- 16:47Speaker 1: they would be much more in the mix.
- 16:49Speaker 4: They got some flame throwers and I think they're starting
- 16:52Speaker 4: to learn that even with some of these guys pitching
- 16:56Speaker 4: to their capability, because I don't think Skeens is pitched
- 16:58Speaker 4: fully to his capability, which is weird to even say
- 17:01Speaker 4: already because I know his vilo has been down throughout
- 17:03Speaker 4: this year. But it's like, if they can get a
- 17:05Speaker 4: little bit of a lineup to match some of these pitching,
- 17:08Speaker 4: some of these starters, they got something there. But I
- 17:11Speaker 4: think it's always either or it's like they have a
- 17:13Speaker 4: lineup or no pitching. They have pitching and no lineup.
- 17:15Speaker 4: So if it ever matches up they did. They need
- 17:18Speaker 4: some bats, but they got some some hard throwing guys
- 17:21Speaker 4: on on that starting staff Pittsburgh. M h, he's fat, young,
- 17:25Speaker 4: too young, too.
- 17:27Speaker 3: Games is too fat. That's why they bought everyone's.
- 17:31Speaker 4: Yeah, you need you need a little cushion. You can't
- 17:33Speaker 4: pull fat.
- 17:34Speaker 3: How many Sabathia was one of the big Did you
- 17:37Speaker 3: did you play with Cec?
- 17:38Speaker 2: I mean he was large.
- 17:41Speaker 4: Man, he said, even said he got in shape and
- 17:44Speaker 4: he couldn't throw. When he got in shape, he said
- 17:46Speaker 4: he was bet he needed to be fat to throw.
- 17:50Speaker 1: Hey, two minutes here. K Cabali is on fire lately.
- 17:53Speaker 1: Eight innings, one hit, two walks, ten k's and he
- 17:57Speaker 1: shut down an offense that's been clicking lately. I'm wearing
- 18:00Speaker 1: the PCA shirt two, by the way, so this is
- 18:02Speaker 1: the time to shout it out, I think, Kip, but
- 18:05Speaker 1: there it is. Well you got to see that. But
- 18:10Speaker 1: he shut him down. Cake Valley looked really good yesterday
- 18:13Speaker 1: against the Cubs.
- 18:15Speaker 4: He did. No, he did. And that's not the easiest
- 18:18Speaker 4: of lineups because they put the ball in play, they
- 18:20Speaker 4: work at bats, and they get on base and draw walks.
- 18:22Speaker 4: There's usually always creating traffic. He didn't even let them
- 18:25Speaker 4: create traffic because that's one of their their strengths. Kind
- 18:29Speaker 4: of as a Cubs lineup, I think they forced the
- 18:31Speaker 4: pressure and they have speed throughout the lineup one through nine,
- 18:33Speaker 4: and god, I don't even they barely touched second base
- 18:36Speaker 4: if I remember.
- 18:39Speaker 1: No, No into the seventh.
- 18:42Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, you know how I knew he was gonna
- 18:44Speaker 3: pitch good because I picked him to go over.
- 18:45Speaker 2: That's how I should have known.
- 18:48Speaker 3: And I made a joke a Cake of all he
- 18:49Speaker 3: could go eight and they'd give up nine in the ninth,
- 18:51Speaker 3: and so he said, screw, I'm just gonna go nine.
- 18:54Speaker 3: Good for you, Kate, because I love the mustag. Yeah,
- 18:57Speaker 3: and that boy is good. No he went eight?
- 19:02Speaker 1: Sorry, yeah, yeah what Ashcraft went nine? But still, I
- 19:06Speaker 1: mean he only gave the bullpen one in to work
- 19:09Speaker 1: with to keep it eying.
- 19:10Speaker 4: I like, I like seeing Pitcher starting to go more,
- 19:13Speaker 4: go the distance a little bit, stretching it back out.
- 19:15Speaker 4: Actually really am enjoying. I'm hoping it goes back to that.
- 19:21Speaker 1: The Seattle Mariners demoted Colt Emerson one day. He might
- 19:24Speaker 1: be great this year though, one ninety two forty six
- 19:27Speaker 1: OVP three thirty five slug a lot of strikeouts, and
- 19:31Speaker 1: there's actually a legit hole at the position.
- 19:33Speaker 4: Aja.
- 19:33Speaker 1: Did you see how the Mariners were trying to get
- 19:36Speaker 1: Zach Netto at the trade deadline? Because right now, I
- 19:38Speaker 1: mean JP Crawford's out and Emerson's down, they would have
- 19:42Speaker 1: liked to have someone like Zach Meadow in that lineup.
- 19:46Speaker 3: Uh yeah, Well, JP Crawford can't play shortstop apparently anymore either,
- 19:50Speaker 3: because I again I did their game a couple weeks ago.
- 19:52Speaker 3: On all they were talking about he was playing third
- 19:53Speaker 3: base and he wasn't hitting, and he couldn't play shortstop.
- 19:56Speaker 3: So this is the guy they're counting on. It hasn't
- 19:59Speaker 3: worked in Seattle this year for whatever reason you want
- 20:01Speaker 3: to throw it out there, Listen, I don't know why. Yeah,
- 20:07Speaker 3: it's not ever since fault. But he did sign a
- 20:08Speaker 3: nice contract Kip, so that's good for him.
- 20:11Speaker 4: He's got that security that is nice. But again I
- 20:13Speaker 4: tell people that first off, this guy's a good player.
- 20:15Speaker 4: I think he's actually I still believe in him. I
- 20:17Speaker 4: still think it's going to be a good player. I think,
- 20:19Speaker 4: look no further than this. I tell people there's two guys,
- 20:23Speaker 4: Mike Trout and Jose Ramirez. Both were sent down. Both
- 20:27Speaker 4: didn't do it on their first tries, first time coming
- 20:29Speaker 4: up and stay. They both had to get sent back
- 20:30Speaker 4: down kind of tweak some things and then came up
- 20:32Speaker 4: and turned into the players that are household names. So
- 20:35Speaker 4: I think this guy will come back up and have
- 20:37Speaker 4: a much better second go round at it. So I
- 20:38Speaker 4: think he just needs to go back kind to catch
- 20:40Speaker 4: his breath and retweak some things and come back with
- 20:42Speaker 4: a new new focus.
- 20:44Speaker 1: Another topic in does anyone want to win the Al West?
- 20:47Speaker 1: Jacob de gram tricep fatigue. He exited early, so he's down.
- 20:52Speaker 1: We'll see what the diagnosis is Nathan Evaldi's on the
- 20:55Speaker 1: il Rangers in a tough spot. Sean McFarland was on
- 20:58Speaker 1: our show yesterday if you want to hear more about
- 20:59Speaker 1: what's going on with them. But man, the lane just
- 21:01Speaker 1: continues to stay open for the astros. Hey, let's see, geek,
- 21:08Speaker 1: let's look ahead at the weekend. Anything special here? I mean,
- 21:12Speaker 1: Paul Skeen is back on the mound on Sunday afternoon
- 21:14Speaker 1: after getting stupid attention this week for enjoying a day
- 21:19Speaker 1: off at the beach. And yes, he's not pitching as
- 21:21Speaker 1: well as we expect him to this week, but he'll
- 21:23Speaker 1: be back on the mound and I don't know my
- 21:25Speaker 1: money's on him pitching. Well, i'd want to be at
- 21:27Speaker 1: that one. I think he's he's got a little fire.
- 21:29Speaker 2: Aj I mean, what an idiot?
- 21:33Speaker 3: I mean, geeesh, you know I had not looked fat.
- 21:35Speaker 3: Don't stand next to Livy dun in a bikini. That's
- 21:37Speaker 3: how you don't.
- 21:39Speaker 1: You might have to tell everyone you're being sarcastic. That
- 21:42Speaker 1: no other He's not being idiots for not knowing what
- 21:45Speaker 1: it takes to pitch in the major leagues. You do
- 21:48Speaker 1: not have to look like Arnold Schwarzenegger.
- 21:52Speaker 3: I don't know about you, Kip, but every shredded pitcher
- 21:54Speaker 3: I ever saw that usually end up getting hurt for
- 21:56Speaker 3: at some point for something. Most pitchers had a little
- 21:59Speaker 3: bit of fat, they had dad bodies and it was
- 22:01Speaker 3: great clean Kershaw, Bartolo Cologne, Paul Skeens. There's there's a
- 22:05Speaker 3: long list of these guys that didn't look like Greek god.
- 22:08Speaker 3: So I have no problem with it. But listen, Sunday's
- 22:10Speaker 3: a day man Skiing's pitching, Freddy Pea's pitching, Soroka's pitching
- 22:13Speaker 3: in Atlanta, Schoobl's pitching, Brian Woover's Hunter Brown in a
- 22:16Speaker 3: huge series, Seattle in Houston. Sunday's a day pick a literally, well,
- 22:21Speaker 3: he pitched good now against Yankees. I know, I know,
- 22:24Speaker 3: so I know he's on the road, But I mean
- 22:27Speaker 3: there's some good, good matchups this weekend with a lot
- 22:30Speaker 3: of playoff implications. Let's not forget the White Sox at
- 22:33Speaker 3: Detroit either, So uh, there's some there's some big matchups
- 22:36Speaker 3: this weekend. Sean Burke has been dealing, by the way,
- 22:39Speaker 3: if you haven't watched him pitch lately.
- 22:41Speaker 4: He has been I think it's fair to say we're
- 22:42Speaker 4: out at the dog days. We're getting into some fun baseball. Now.
- 22:45Speaker 4: You can almost push up. It's like September baseball. Let's
- 22:47Speaker 4: move it up to mid August. Right now, these are
- 22:49Speaker 4: starting to be some meaningful games.
- 22:51Speaker 1: Yeah, And if you're a Blue Jays fan, hey, I
- 22:53Speaker 1: mean you might kind of be back in this depending
- 22:55Speaker 1: on how things go the next week or so to
- 22:58Speaker 1: see if you, you know, can hang around the schedule
- 23:01Speaker 1: team talk about it. Every team, Well, technically I think
- 23:05Speaker 1: it's twenty one out of thirty entering today, or within
- 23:07Speaker 1: three and a half games of a spot, So two
- 23:09Speaker 1: thirds of the league is still why Yeah, Now in
- 23:12Speaker 1: the NBA, it's like all but three teams are in
- 23:14Speaker 1: it because more than half the league makes it with
- 23:17Speaker 1: the play in and blah blah blah. So we still
- 23:19Speaker 1: have it better, but it does make things interesting laid
- 23:22Speaker 1: into the season for many teams across the sport. Hey,
- 23:25Speaker 1: Seki can hook you up with ten percent off your
- 23:27Speaker 1: next set of MLB tickets. You can use the code
- 23:29Speaker 1: Territory one zero for ten percent off. Make sure you
- 23:32Speaker 1: click the link in the description to download the app
- 23:34Speaker 1: have the code automatically added. To your account so you
- 23:36Speaker 1: can use it later at a game this weekend or
- 23:38Speaker 1: next week or whenever. Have fun with Zeki Hot Corner
- 23:47Speaker 1: Time News on two executives. We'll do Angels after. We
- 23:50Speaker 1: start with the Red Sox. Red Sox president and CEO
- 23:53Speaker 1: for a long time now. Sam Kennedy believes that John Henry,
- 23:56Speaker 1: the owner, is never selling the Red Sox. He said,
- 23:59Speaker 1: John Henry, Linda Henry, the Henry family are never selling
- 24:03Speaker 1: the Red Sox. I bet anything on that. He was
- 24:06Speaker 1: asked on one of the radio shows the other day.
- 24:09Speaker 1: I'm forgetting the name, but I'll plug it later. So
- 24:12Speaker 1: I'm going to guess without hearing context of that show.
- 24:15Speaker 1: It was brought up in relation to aj the Lakers
- 24:19Speaker 1: being sold and Mark Walter, the owner of the Dodgers,
- 24:23Speaker 1: getting questions. I mean, not that he's fielding the questions,
- 24:25Speaker 1: but getting those questions. We're going to do a segment
- 24:27Speaker 1: on that later. But thoughts on John Henry owning this
- 24:32Speaker 1: team for life and the Henry family just like maybe
- 24:35Speaker 1: the Steinberger family might own the Yankees for life.
- 24:38Speaker 3: Well, the difference is the Steinbergers actually are more of
- 24:41Speaker 3: a family. And I don't know why this thing keeps
- 24:43Speaker 3: going down behind me all the time's.
- 24:44Speaker 1: Going your projector something's going on. It's actually kind of cool. Yeah, yeah,
- 24:54Speaker 1: my projector is messing with.
- 24:56Speaker 2: My Scott is not here, my projector.
- 25:00Speaker 1: It misses me.
- 25:01Speaker 2: But yeah, I mean, this is not a surprise.
- 25:04Speaker 3: And by the way, this just shows you how much
- 25:06Speaker 3: money they're making and how much fun they're having owning
- 25:08Speaker 3: the Red Sox.
- 25:09Speaker 2: Remember we were.
- 25:10Speaker 3: Talking about, Oh, how he doesn't They were talking earlier
- 25:12Speaker 3: in the year, Oh, we don't have any money.
- 25:14Speaker 2: We can't get free agents.
- 25:15Speaker 3: They must be doing some right if John Henry doesn't
- 25:18Speaker 3: want to sell it, because if he wasn't making enough money,
- 25:19Speaker 3: guess what he'd be doing put this thing on the market,
- 25:22Speaker 3: especially after the Yankees just valued a ten billion, he
- 25:26Speaker 3: could probably get eight or nine for the Red Sox, right, Jeremy.
- 25:30Speaker 1: He's printing cash. Jeremy's not on the show today, he's
- 25:33Speaker 1: our director. But he did point out that the Greg
- 25:35Speaker 1: Hill Show is where this statement was made. But yes, Kip,
- 25:38Speaker 1: I mean, we have a few franchises that definitely want
- 25:42Speaker 1: to sell right after the lockout ends whenever that is,
- 25:45Speaker 1: but this is not one of them. John Henry's printing cash.
- 25:48Speaker 1: Red Sox are actually in a pretty good spot right now,
- 25:51Speaker 1: and it's a beloved franchise. It's got the legacy factor
- 25:55Speaker 1: to it. They know how to make money, they've got
- 25:57Speaker 1: it all working for them. Would they like to see
- 26:00Speaker 1: more success in the near future, sure, but they've actually
- 26:03Speaker 1: won a lot of titles in the last what thirty years.
- 26:06Speaker 4: Yeah, this is one of the most profitable organizations I
- 26:09Speaker 4: think in the past twenty thirty years. Yeah. You saw
- 26:12Speaker 4: the Lakers go up two billion in thirty days was
- 26:15Speaker 4: it between their two sales. So I don't think he
- 26:17Speaker 4: has any reason too. This isn't one of the ones
- 26:21Speaker 4: where I look at like, Okay, they need to sell
- 26:24Speaker 4: there never do anything, whether it's the Oakland and Colorado
- 26:27Speaker 4: the whoever where just like they kind of seem they
- 26:29Speaker 4: just stand put and collect their money. They do make moves.
- 26:33Speaker 4: It just hasn't been a this year, I guess, or
- 26:35Speaker 4: where they didn't have money for the deadline. But these
- 26:39Speaker 4: owners are just handover foot money don't more than what
- 26:42Speaker 4: they know what to do with. So, especially with Boston,
- 26:44Speaker 4: there's no reason too, So I'm not it's almost this
- 26:47Speaker 4: is like no news on this one where it's like no,
- 26:49Speaker 4: no dub. This guy's not going to sell.
- 26:51Speaker 1: Yeah, and Boston has quickly turned things around. I know
- 26:55Speaker 1: they had a rough week, right they lost five in
- 26:56Speaker 1: a row that was actually snapped. They did pick up
- 26:59Speaker 1: that last game in this series, say J Peyton Totley,
- 27:01Speaker 1: speaking of going deep into outings, he went eight innings,
- 27:04Speaker 1: pitch good, love it, love it. Bring on those eight
- 27:09Speaker 1: and nine. Yes, yeah, eight. Like, let's not get greedy.
- 27:15Speaker 1: We got one complete game yesterday, but we got a
- 27:17Speaker 1: couple of eights. We take the eight from totally. They
- 27:19Speaker 1: did lose Garrett Whitlock, at least on the short term.
- 27:21Speaker 1: He spoke. He he told the media like he doesn't
- 27:24Speaker 1: think it's a big deal. He's not even getting an MRI.
- 27:26Speaker 1: That actually does hold some merit for me. He's confidence
- 27:29Speaker 1: it's not a major surgery requiring problem. That doesn't mean
- 27:32Speaker 1: that's the case. But you know, ag, we've done enough
- 27:35Speaker 1: of these where we cover injuries every day. A lot
- 27:37Speaker 1: of times the guys don't say much. He actually went
- 27:39Speaker 1: out and was like, I think I'm gonna be okay,
- 27:41Speaker 1: give me a couple of weeks here.
- 27:43Speaker 2: Yeah, that's a good sign for the Red Sox and
- 27:45Speaker 2: for the Red Sox fans, But can they keep this up?
- 27:50Speaker 3: I mean the Red Sox the way they're playing right now,
- 27:52Speaker 3: they're going to be in the postseason. But can they
- 27:53Speaker 3: keep this up and stay this hot? That's the hardest
- 27:55Speaker 3: thing is Kip knows to keep this hotness going for
- 27:59Speaker 3: you get so hot at a time that you're due
- 28:01Speaker 3: for a little bit of a regression. I mean, they
- 28:03Speaker 3: have a five game lead in the Wild Card. They're
- 28:05Speaker 3: gonna more than likely be in the postseason unless collapse happens.
- 28:09Speaker 2: But yeah, can they keep this up?
- 28:11Speaker 3: And by the way, the Rangers losing Evaldi into Grom
- 28:13Speaker 3: in a what forty eight hour span, I mean almost
- 28:17Speaker 3: is it toombstone time for the for the Rangers.
- 28:21Speaker 1: They're right there to.
- 28:25Speaker 4: Piggyback off age. I think it was whether it's eighteen
- 28:27Speaker 4: or nineteen when Cleveland we had like the twenty two
- 28:29Speaker 4: game win streak, and then it's your by sheer numbers
- 28:34Speaker 4: of regression, it's gonna happen where you're gonna start losing games,
- 28:37Speaker 4: just by the law of averages in this game of baseball.
- 28:40Speaker 4: So there's enough time where I think they're going to
- 28:44Speaker 4: go down and they have time to come back up.
- 28:45Speaker 4: I think where they're going to catch their footing. I
- 28:48Speaker 4: think they get so used to winning and they kind
- 28:49Speaker 4: of which is a great thing. You want every team
- 28:52Speaker 4: you play on to get used to winning. You want
- 28:53Speaker 4: to show up to the ballpark expecting to win. And
- 28:55Speaker 4: I think that's what they got into, and they're learning
- 28:57Speaker 4: how to win all different types of ways. I think
- 28:59Speaker 4: it's just going to take a little bit back to
- 29:00Speaker 4: get their wills turner in again.
- 29:02Speaker 1: And then I want to spend two minutes on a
- 29:04Speaker 1: team that is still learning how to win, a franchise
- 29:06Speaker 1: that is still learning how to win. There was a
- 29:09Speaker 1: story put out by Katie Wu on John Mizzelac, who
- 29:12Speaker 1: is helping out the front office right now for the Angels.
- 29:15Speaker 1: They did those firings of some pitching coaches the other day,
- 29:17Speaker 1: which she wrote after decades with the Cardinals, a re
- 29:20Speaker 1: energized John Mizzaelac believes he can fix the Angels. He's
- 29:24Speaker 1: doing so with aggression and transparency due to Anaheim in
- 29:26Speaker 1: a stark contrast from his operations in Saint Louis, and
- 29:31Speaker 1: later in there she does mention how he intends to
- 29:34Speaker 1: hire a general manager. Timeline is fluid nor performal interviews
- 29:38Speaker 1: have taken place, and she said in the article, rival
- 29:41Speaker 1: executives believe that Miszaylak's going to stay on longer than
- 29:44Speaker 1: the duration of his contract, which runs through the end
- 29:47Speaker 1: of this calendar year. Nobody loves short term contracts more
- 29:50Speaker 1: than owner Arty Moreno, and this is going to be
- 29:53Speaker 1: the ultimate moment for Arty to test if he cares
- 29:57Speaker 1: aj because he's going to have a lockout. Stand at
- 30:00Speaker 1: him in the face where we'll miss at least January February.
- 30:02Speaker 1: I mean, there's not games, but there'll be some spring
- 30:04Speaker 1: training action, I guess. I mean, I'm at least thinking
- 30:06Speaker 1: that way. So there's not going to be any activity, right,
- 30:09Speaker 1: you can't do signings, trades, all of that. Raise your
- 30:12Speaker 1: hand if you think that John Mozzelac will stay with
- 30:15Speaker 1: the Angels organization, or if he'll have to go through
- 30:17Speaker 1: a hiatus while they go through the lockout so that
- 30:21Speaker 1: already can save as many months as it takes. You
- 30:25Speaker 1: don't think he'll do that. You don't think he'll say.
- 30:26Speaker 3: Hey, I think John will do I don't think John
- 30:28Speaker 3: Moselac will do it. I think John mosela will be like, wow,
- 30:31Speaker 3: I had fun doing this. Is there another opening I
- 30:33Speaker 3: can go phill? That's what I think if this is
- 30:36Speaker 3: what it comes down to. But I mean the fact
- 30:39Speaker 3: that John Moselak is back in baseball after when I
- 30:42Speaker 3: talked to him in Saint Louis last year and he's like, man,
- 30:44Speaker 3: I need a break, and then bam he's back in
- 30:46Speaker 3: it and he's re energized.
- 30:47Speaker 2: Good for you, mo Good for you.
- 30:49Speaker 3: Now put the bow tie back on like Ken Rosenthal
- 30:51Speaker 3: and really get.
- 30:54Speaker 1: No, he's a new man, he's.
- 30:55Speaker 4: A Are you happy about this? Scotti?
- 31:00Speaker 1: As an Angels fan, if I put myself in their shoes, yes,
- 31:03Speaker 1: John Mozelac to me is a huge difference from some
- 31:06Speaker 1: other situations. And here's the biggest part of it, Kip.
- 31:08Speaker 1: You might not agree with every single decision he makes,
- 31:11Speaker 1: but I do think he can actually stand up to
- 31:13Speaker 1: the owner who often hovers over this team and makes
- 31:16Speaker 1: bone headed decisions. I think that's the big part of this,
- 31:19Speaker 1: right Talking the owner into selling a few pieces at
- 31:21Speaker 1: a trade deadline, talking the owner into making some front
- 31:24Speaker 1: office changes, maybe spending a little bit more on your
- 31:26Speaker 1: baseball operations department. There's just a lot of things that
- 31:29Speaker 1: need to change. There, and the problem has been getting
- 31:32Speaker 1: the approval over time, right or saying, hey, let me
- 31:35Speaker 1: do my job. You just go eat in the owner suite,
- 31:38Speaker 1: have a good time and let me handle things. I
- 31:41Speaker 1: think Moe actually can say that to him, because what's
- 31:42Speaker 1: the worst that happens? They disagree and he leaves, Like,
- 31:45Speaker 1: Moe's had a decorated career and he's made plenty of money.
- 31:50Speaker 2: He has he has, isn't it plenty of money? Is
- 31:55Speaker 2: that a nice career?
- 31:56Speaker 3: He's one World Series and the Cardinal fan Tatum, I
- 32:00Speaker 3: don't understand it.
- 32:00Speaker 1: But I don't understand that either. I mean, if you
- 32:03Speaker 1: have a disliking towards him as a Cardinals fan, like,
- 32:06Speaker 1: what is the point of rooting for your team? You
- 32:10Speaker 1: want a World Series?
- 32:11Speaker 4: Right?
- 32:12Speaker 2: Man?
- 32:12Speaker 4: They had a lot of success.
- 32:14Speaker 2: Wait, you know he was Was he there in No. Six?
- 32:16Speaker 2: Or was that Jockety? Well, Jockety still.
- 32:19Speaker 1: Might have been Jockety, but then he was there and
- 32:22Speaker 1: eleven eleven? Yeah, I mean I can find that as
- 32:26Speaker 1: we go, and he might have been in the front office.
- 32:27Speaker 1: I just don't know if he was stuff. Yeah, But
- 32:33Speaker 1: either way, I mean, there's got to be an appreciation
- 32:35Speaker 1: factor here and there is, I think there is. You know,
- 32:38Speaker 1: sometimes when you're in the thick of it, you know,
- 32:40Speaker 1: fans are like, hey, we're not good this second. But yeah,
- 32:43Speaker 1: a thirty year tenure. He joined that club in nineteen
- 32:46Speaker 1: ninety six and then the final eighteen seasons were leading
- 32:50Speaker 1: the baseball ops department, so that would take him obviously
- 32:54Speaker 1: he got eleven. Yeah, So after that, technically so jockety
- 32:58Speaker 1: was still was still there if I have that right, but.
- 33:03Speaker 2: He got so he got eleven though, he did get eleven.
- 33:05Speaker 1: Yeah, and he was obviously, I mean at least a
- 33:07Speaker 1: decent part of the operations even before that. He was
- 33:10Speaker 1: the assistant GM during the first one, so he did
- 33:14Speaker 1: a lot of good things. So yes, to answer Kid's
- 33:16Speaker 1: question in a long way, this is a win to
- 33:18Speaker 1: have him involved as little as possible. And I want
- 33:20Speaker 1: to see if he's still with the team on February first,
- 33:23Speaker 1: not just with the team, like getting a paycheck from
- 33:25Speaker 1: the team on February first. That's my thing because this
- 33:28Speaker 1: is someone who spends so much time on figuring out
- 33:31Speaker 1: contract length so he doesn't have to pay an ounce
- 33:33Speaker 1: extra to somebody, and there's going to be a lockout
- 33:35Speaker 1: when you can't do that much, so I want to
- 33:37Speaker 1: see what happens then, So get back to me at
- 33:39Speaker 1: that point, science experiment for the one minute, we have
- 33:44Speaker 1: to tell you about why we love Quint's electrolytes, including
- 33:47Speaker 1: watermelon salt, raspberry salt, and I'm holding a citrus salt,
- 33:51Speaker 1: just opened it and to pour some powder into my water,
- 33:54Speaker 1: shake it up, and AJ, why do you love it?
- 33:56Speaker 3: I love Quints because after a long night out, a
- 33:58Speaker 3: long day at the gym, a long while talk in
- 34:00Speaker 3: this Florida humidity, it tastes great and it gives me
- 34:02Speaker 3: all the electrolytes I need. Why sugar free, Stevia free,
- 34:07Speaker 3: keto approve and taste sweet because of that delicious fermented rice.
- 34:13Speaker 1: It does taste really good. I'm drinking it right now
- 34:16Speaker 1: while we talk about it. It's also made in the USA,

- 34:44Speaker 1: On Deck is presented by Fox One. We continue to
- 34:47Speaker 1: talk about the Brewers and Dodgers series because they'll match
- 34:50Speaker 1: up on Saturday and you can catch that game within
- 34:53Speaker 1: the Fox one app. So we need to start with
- 34:55Speaker 1: the headliner here, aj Edwin Diaz. What's going on and
- 34:58Speaker 1: why not just go to another option. I know that
- 35:01Speaker 1: there are some strugglers in the bullpen right now for
- 35:04Speaker 1: the Dodgers, but Tanner Scott's been pretty good.
- 35:09Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't know.
- 35:11Speaker 3: Dave Roberts said, nobody's been pitching very well in the bullpen,
- 35:14Speaker 3: so they listen. They signed Edwin Diaz to a huge contract.
- 35:17Speaker 3: They don't want to give up on him. The one
- 35:18Speaker 3: thing about the Dodgers is they have some leeway here,
- 35:22Speaker 3: but they might not get that buy if they don't
- 35:23Speaker 3: start playing better, which we know they won without the
- 35:26Speaker 3: bye last year. But also, let's not forget this, the
- 35:29Speaker 3: Dodgers are not a perfect team. Even with all the
- 35:31Speaker 3: things that people say and all the spending and this
- 35:33Speaker 3: and that, they are not a perfect team, and Edwin
- 35:36Speaker 3: Diaz owned up to it. I give them credit for that,
- 35:38Speaker 3: but Edwin Diaz has to pitch better. They have to
- 35:40Speaker 3: get healthy. This is not a perfect team.
- 35:44Speaker 1: Is it time to move him out of there? Then
- 35:45Speaker 1: he's blown three of his last four appearances here, So
- 35:48Speaker 1: are you gonna pitch onn we where earlier in the game,
- 35:52Speaker 1: lower leverage, not in the ninth Why just to get
- 35:55Speaker 1: him back in the flow of things. He's barely pitched
- 35:56Speaker 1: this year. No, how many more blown saves does it
- 35:59Speaker 1: take before you say, hey, let's just cool off for
- 36:02Speaker 1: a sec.
- 36:03Speaker 3: I'm gonna I can't answer this one, and then I'm
- 36:04Speaker 3: gonna then I'm gonna destroy you.
- 36:06Speaker 2: Scott.
- 36:09Speaker 4: It's tough. I know where A is kind of going
- 36:12Speaker 4: with this. You don't listen. You got this guy to
- 36:15Speaker 4: be your closer, that's closer. Would would everybody in a
- 36:19Speaker 4: perfect world like him to be pitching better? And would you,
- 36:21Speaker 4: as a Dodgers like to know what you have coming
- 36:23Speaker 4: out of the bullpen in the ninth inning that you
- 36:25Speaker 4: can rely on. Of course, it didn't work as easy though,
- 36:29Speaker 4: Scott as moving this guy to low leverage innings, It's
- 36:31Speaker 4: still three outs that he has to get that's the problem.
- 36:33Speaker 4: He's just not getting those three outs. So I think
- 36:37Speaker 4: that could even do more damage. Maybe taking him out there,
- 36:40Speaker 4: taking him out of it. I think once you take
- 36:42Speaker 4: him out of it, though, that might be what you
- 36:46Speaker 4: do the rest of the way. I think Tanner Scott
- 36:48Speaker 4: might be your closer to the rest of the way.
- 36:49Speaker 4: So I think if that's gonna be your decision, I
- 36:51Speaker 4: think he still has a couple more times. If it
- 36:54Speaker 4: doesn't change, If it keeps going this way, I think
- 36:58Speaker 4: it changes. It is time to be made, and I
- 37:00Speaker 4: think he doesn't have any leverage to stand on. He
- 37:02Speaker 4: if he's a team guy, he should understand why the
- 37:04Speaker 4: change is being made. But I think three out of
- 37:07Speaker 4: four is not enough to just change your closer right there.
- 37:11Speaker 3: Thank you, Thank you kid for explaining to the non
- 37:13Speaker 3: player that he didn't understand that there's psyches and it's
- 37:15Speaker 3: real people involved here, Scottie. And if you loose, here's
- 37:19Speaker 3: what I think will happen. And this would never happen.
- 37:22Speaker 3: This should never happen. He might get a blister, he
- 37:25Speaker 3: might get a hammy, he might get a sore forearm.
- 37:28Speaker 3: For a little while where he can go on a
- 37:30Speaker 3: little rehab start, maybe a little rehab dang, and try
- 37:34Speaker 3: to get some innings because he missed spring training and
- 37:36Speaker 3: he missed so much time.
- 37:39Speaker 4: That's where you would work on stuff.
- 37:42Speaker 1: Not the SENTI you're gonna phantom I l him for
- 37:45Speaker 1: a couple of weeks.
- 37:46Speaker 2: I didn't say that. I didn't say that. You said that.
- 37:49Speaker 2: I didn't say that.
- 37:50Speaker 1: I mean it's already mid August. You phantom iel him.
- 37:53Speaker 1: Now we're already into September. So does it matter.
- 37:59Speaker 2: If they pay for that?
- 38:02Speaker 1: They're still playing for some things. They Hey, they want
- 38:04Speaker 1: to get a buye. You don't think the buy matters
- 38:06Speaker 1: none of that.
- 38:08Speaker 6: No, I think ideas go a ja.
- 38:12Speaker 3: No, you're right, you can't get the buy. You can't
- 38:14Speaker 3: get the buye if even if you have the buy
- 38:16Speaker 3: or not. I think they need Edwin Diaz to be
- 38:19Speaker 3: good if they want to win. Yeah, I still have
- 38:21Speaker 3: an eight game lead.
- 38:22Speaker 1: No, I'm not worried about the division. I mean for them,
- 38:25Speaker 1: the more important thing in the National League is do
- 38:27Speaker 1: you have one of the top two seats. And that's
- 38:29Speaker 1: no short thing here. You've got the Brewers, You've got
- 38:31Speaker 1: the Braids, even the Cubs with an outside chance here
- 38:35Speaker 1: or not even that outside. So AJ let's say over
- 38:38Speaker 1: the next four days, five days, Diaz has two bad outings. Again,
- 38:43Speaker 1: you think there's a better chance that he ends up
- 38:46Speaker 1: fixing some little injury issue, whether it's a real thing
- 38:50Speaker 1: or not, and doing rehab appearances or saying, hey, we're
- 38:53Speaker 1: gonna have your pitch in the fifth inning or sixth
- 38:55Speaker 1: inning of a seven to two game.
- 38:59Speaker 3: It's hard for guys to bounce back from being a closer,
- 39:02Speaker 3: being the man having the adrenaline to pitching in the
- 39:04Speaker 3: fifth inning. It is a huge blow to people's ego. Scott,
- 39:07Speaker 3: it's hard to explain, Kip, Kip, I'm with you unless
- 39:11Speaker 3: you've unless you've been in this situation and you've actually
- 39:15Speaker 3: understand how how ego driven professional sports is. Okay, it's
- 39:21Speaker 3: so ego driven, and it's such a thin line you
- 39:23Speaker 3: walk between totally believing in yourself and then just losing
- 39:27Speaker 3: that confidence like this. It's it's crazy, it sounds crazy,
- 39:31Speaker 3: but we see guys that happens so all the time,
- 39:32Speaker 3: they're on top of the world, and then one bad
- 39:34Speaker 3: thing happens and then you never hear from him again.
- 39:37Speaker 3: And the Dodgers have a huge investment in Edwin Diaz,
- 39:40Speaker 3: and I think they're gonna treat him with kid gloves,
- 39:42Speaker 3: as they already have shown.
- 39:44Speaker 2: And I think that's what they believe in.
- 39:46Speaker 3: And we'll see what happens in the next if he
- 39:48Speaker 3: has another bat outing, we'll see what happens after that.
- 39:51Speaker 1: Okay, Tanner Scott's on a huge contract, and I just
- 39:54Speaker 1: feel like he maybe can get some love here at least.
- 39:56Speaker 1: In a postgame quote, Dave Roberts on if Edwin Diaz
- 39:59Speaker 1: will still pitch in the nine, This was after the
- 40:01Speaker 1: loss to the Brewers, give me another option. I have
- 40:05Speaker 1: to have other options, And to be quite honest, none
- 40:08Speaker 1: of these guys have really thrown the baseball great lately.
- 40:11Speaker 1: He said. It's on Edwin Diaz to execute. I mean,
- 40:14Speaker 1: that's fine if you're keeping them in there, but some
- 40:17Speaker 1: other guys are pitching, okay, and including a guy who's
- 40:20Speaker 1: making a lot of money who can close out games.
- 40:23Speaker 1: That's all. If you're Tanner Scott and you saw those quotes, Kip,
- 40:26Speaker 1: would you be like, eh or I'm not thrilled.
- 40:29Speaker 4: I'm not thrilled. Yeah, I don't think that's what. I
- 40:31Speaker 4: think he's professional enough to not take it personally, and
- 40:33Speaker 4: I think just be like, Okay, maybe it's fine. We're
- 40:36Speaker 4: not pitching up to our capabilities as a as a bullpen,
- 40:39Speaker 4: so it's fine if I'm thrown into that. But to
- 40:41Speaker 4: go back with like I did Edwin Diaz thing, I
- 40:44Speaker 4: think just before, he has more of a I hate
- 40:47Speaker 4: this word, but talking about AJ and the Psyche, it's
- 40:49Speaker 4: like he has more of a scapegoat or an excuse
- 40:51Speaker 4: without having to say anything on his end, where it's
- 40:53Speaker 4: just like, Okay, he's going to work out in triple
- 40:56Speaker 4: A for a second just to fix some stuff. Then
- 40:58Speaker 4: it's like he he's not concerned about his his spot,
- 41:02Speaker 4: his status, is any of that, and he can kind
- 41:05Speaker 4: of just go and work on stuff. If it's a
- 41:06Speaker 4: fifth inning, he's kind of embarrassed walking out there. There's
- 41:10Speaker 4: we have in our in our slack? Are they gonna
- 41:12Speaker 4: play trumpets in the fifth inning? Like it's just a
- 41:16Speaker 4: different you want him to Still, you got to take
- 41:18Speaker 4: care of some egos sometimes, as sad as it sounds.
- 41:21Speaker 1: Mm hmm. Tanner Scott Low two z r A. Last
- 41:23Speaker 1: time appearance is Low ones z r A. So I'm
- 41:25Speaker 1: just saying he's pitching well that's all. That's all I'm saying.
- 41:27Speaker 4: He's going to keep his mouth shut because he knows
- 41:29Speaker 4: as long as he keeps doing well, he's probably knocking
- 41:32Speaker 4: on the door in the next in line for if
- 41:33Speaker 4: anything should be a decision made on Edwin Diaz. There's
- 41:38Speaker 4: no reason. There's no reason to to ruffle ony feathers
- 41:40Speaker 4: right now or rock the boat if you're Tanner Scott.
- 41:43Speaker 3: Also, Kip, who how did Tanner Scott do last year?
- 41:46Speaker 3: How did Dodgers fans feel about Tanner Scott last year?
- 41:50Speaker 4: Not good?
- 41:50Speaker 1: He didn't pitch well.
- 41:52Speaker 4: Yeah, okay, so that last.
- 41:54Speaker 3: Year you're saying, okay, Scott, agree to just think.
- 42:00Speaker 1: They come out of the closer role tomorrow. I'm just saying, like, yeah.
- 42:03Speaker 2: That's pretty much what you did. Said. No, that is
- 42:05Speaker 2: exactly what you said.
- 42:07Speaker 3: You said they should move him out and they should
- 42:09Speaker 3: put Tanner Scott.
- 42:10Speaker 2: And that's what you just said.
- 42:12Speaker 1: Okay. I'm saying like, if he has another blown sab
- 42:15Speaker 1: or two, you're just going to keep letting him roll
- 42:17Speaker 1: out there. So like fine, I'm like, okay, well you're
- 42:20Speaker 1: still good for now. The question was at some point
- 42:22Speaker 1: do you have to make a change, and is the
- 42:24Speaker 1: answer yes or no.
- 42:26Speaker 2: Something will happen at some point.
- 42:28Speaker 4: AJ will remember this name. Remember Chris Perez closer for Cleveland.
- 42:31Speaker 4: Oh oh yeah. He was starting to blow saves down
- 42:34Speaker 4: the stretch I think for in thirteen or something like
- 42:36Speaker 4: that or early before. And it got to the point where, actually,
- 42:40Speaker 4: and I give him his flowers here where he took
- 42:42Speaker 4: himself out of the closer role before the decision was made.
- 42:47Speaker 4: Maybe the writing was on the wall, he saw it coming,
- 42:48Speaker 4: but like he took himself out. He's like, I'm not
- 42:50Speaker 4: helping the team enough in that spot right there. I
- 42:52Speaker 4: gotta be better. So and I again, he probably was
- 42:56Speaker 4: just proactive in the decision. Maybe it was coming regardless,
- 42:58Speaker 4: but I do remember that he he did take himself
- 43:01Speaker 4: out because he knew he wasn't cutting it.
- 43:04Speaker 1: University of Miami Education will do that, Humble, He's got it.
- 43:08Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, put together with Chris Perez.
- 43:15Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 43:17Speaker 1: So this weekend, Dodgers brewers or Red Sox pirates or
- 43:21Speaker 1: Diamondbacks braves all part of what you can get within
- 43:25Speaker 1: the Fox one app. It is streaming there MLB on

- 43:47Speaker 1: yesterday in the Red Sox win. And he said, all
- 43:49Speaker 1: of that you learn in the minor leagues, well back then.
- 43:52Speaker 1: Nowadays they talk about launch angle. Hey, he can say it. Aja,
- 43:57Speaker 1: he's been swinging the bat.
- 43:59Speaker 3: Yeah, good for him, Good for him.
- 44:02Speaker 2: Man, play the game, Play the game, Kip, play the game.
- 44:06Speaker 2: You know what else he love? You know what else?
- 44:07Speaker 2: I love about this? It just stirs up more crap.
- 44:09Speaker 2: And he loves stirring the crap.
- 44:10Speaker 6: Which is he one of those.
- 44:12Speaker 3: Guys I love it, I love it, stirred up, maybe
- 44:15Speaker 3: stir stir the pot.
- 44:18Speaker 2: He's not right, everybody, gaslight everybody.
- 44:21Speaker 4: It's one of the times to say, it's one of
- 44:24Speaker 4: the times he's not wrong on this one that they
- 44:26Speaker 4: don't teach it anymore. They do teach long angle over
- 44:28Speaker 4: bunting before. But there are play baseball, play the right way,
- 44:32Speaker 4: and he's he's absolutely right that bunting in certain situations
- 44:35Speaker 4: is the right way to play baseball. But he loves,
- 44:40Speaker 4: he loves he's he's been breaking and he loves during
- 44:43Speaker 4: that pot. But he's he's no, he's no stranger to uh,
- 44:47Speaker 4: confrontation or mixing it up with anything, the media, players anything.
- 44:51Speaker 1: Look at the line three eating out on base five
- 44:54Speaker 1: twenty nine slug. He's he's awesome this year.
- 44:57Speaker 4: Yes he is, yeah, yeah, and.
- 45:02Speaker 1: He plays a good first base.
- 45:04Speaker 6: He's yeah, you go.
- 45:08Speaker 3: He's been the one constant in the in the Red
- 45:10Speaker 3: Sox lineup from day one.
- 45:13Speaker 4: I think that was huge because I think they were
- 45:14Speaker 4: counting on maybe Roman Anthony being that guy to kind
- 45:17Speaker 4: of maybe have this stat line that he's had, and
- 45:18Speaker 4: I think with the injuries and not being there, uh,
- 45:21Speaker 4: they needed someone to step up in Wilson trans is
- 45:23Speaker 4: absolutely be the guy. They would have loved that both
- 45:28Speaker 4: of him, from each side of the play to be
- 45:29Speaker 4: doing this kind of year.
- 45:30Speaker 1: But then you got something going Anthony. I think he's
- 45:33Speaker 1: going to come back. I mean it's taken a long time.
- 45:35Speaker 1: It's felt like he's got an injury that's forever. Like
- 45:38Speaker 1: I do think he's going to come back. Also, Caleb
- 45:41Speaker 1: Durban at the Grand Slam he's he's swinging about so
- 45:44Speaker 1: much better in the last what two months or so,
- 45:47Speaker 1: So they.
- 45:48Speaker 3: Go get his own hitting coach. All you got to
- 45:50Speaker 3: do is go get his own hitting coach. Remember he
- 45:52Speaker 3: went and got his own hitting coach and then he
- 45:53Speaker 3: started to hit.
- 45:55Speaker 4: Yeah, I did you like it? Hey, I feel like
- 45:58Speaker 4: we have the same opinion on that. You like guys
- 46:00Speaker 4: who had their own hitting coach.
- 46:03Speaker 2: I never played with a guy that had his own
- 46:05Speaker 2: hitting coach.
- 46:06Speaker 1: No.
- 46:07Speaker 3: The only time it ever came close is when twenty twelve,
- 46:09Speaker 3: my last from Chicago, Knerico and I used the old
- 46:13Speaker 3: assistant hitting coach.
- 46:14Speaker 2: His name was Mike Ellinger.
- 46:15Speaker 3: He's still part of the organization, and Jeff Manto, our
- 46:17Speaker 3: old hitting coach, Greg Walker left, he went to Atlanta,
- 46:20Speaker 3: and all we still wanted to use Gelly, and Jeff
- 46:23Speaker 3: Manto came in and said only you two were allowed
- 46:25Speaker 3: to use Gelly, no one else on the team.
- 46:27Speaker 1: I know this is a busy time of year for
- 46:29Speaker 1: many of you, including AJ. When you're home, you need

- 47:26Speaker 1: See website for more details. Blocks are done. Let's look
- 47:34Speaker 1: at al Manager of the Year odds. The Futures Board
- 47:38Speaker 1: has Will Venable at plus one twenty five, Chad Tracy
- 47:41Speaker 1: checking in at plus one fifty five, Kevin Cash at
- 47:45Speaker 1: plus three forty, so a little more than close to
- 47:47Speaker 1: three and a half to one. Odds. There Aj Hinch
- 47:49Speaker 1: plus one thousand, and Joe a spot a plus thirty
- 47:51Speaker 1: five hundred. Well, aj, I know the direction you're going.
- 47:54Speaker 1: Is there any way that Will Venable doesn't get it,
- 47:57Speaker 1: say Tad Tracy sneaks in there, or Kevin Cash you
- 48:00Speaker 1: get more.
- 48:00Speaker 2: Lew Is there a way? Yeah?
- 48:02Speaker 3: If the White Sox somehow don't make the postseason, I
- 48:05Speaker 3: think Will Venable's not gonna win it.
- 48:07Speaker 2: I think Chad Tracy.
- 48:08Speaker 3: Honestly, I think Chad Tracy is the front runner for
- 48:10Speaker 3: this award because he was because he came in in
- 48:13Speaker 3: the middle of the year the team was so bad,
- 48:14Speaker 3: and now they've kind of ascended to a point where
- 48:18Speaker 3: they're all I mean, they're not guaranteed to make the postseason,
- 48:20Speaker 3: but they're in a great spot to make it, to
- 48:22Speaker 3: make the postseason, I think if those things happen, And plus,
- 48:26Speaker 3: let's be honest, Kip, we all know this, there's a
- 48:28Speaker 3: little East Coast bias in the voting.
- 48:30Speaker 4: Sometimes there is there is, But I think if you
- 48:33Speaker 4: go from what the White Socks were last year to
- 48:36Speaker 4: what they're doing right now. Right now they have two
- 48:38Speaker 4: and a half game lead, I think in their division,
- 48:39Speaker 4: if it's no question if they win it. We talked
- 48:42Speaker 4: earlier about the Rays. I think Kevin Cash is notoriously
- 48:45Speaker 4: kind of undervalued. I think he's they always has the
- 48:47Speaker 4: Rays up there with a low payroll and gets them
- 48:49Speaker 4: playing the right way. But to go from like the
- 48:51Speaker 4: worst of first and the drastic worst that the White
- 48:54Speaker 4: Sox were last year, I think it's a it's a
- 48:56Speaker 4: no brainer. So if things stay the same.
- 49:00Speaker 1: Right, make the playoffs and it seems like a lock.
- 49:03Speaker 4: Yeah, mm hmm.
- 49:05Speaker 2: By the way, Kip, is that the Blue Angels? Tell me?
- 49:07Speaker 2: I said, Hi, By the way, that's the Blue Angels.
- 49:09Speaker 4: I'm sorry if that's being picked up in the background
- 49:10Speaker 4: right there. But we got the Aaron water Show here
- 49:13Speaker 4: in Chicago, so I was trying to like kind of
- 49:15Speaker 4: mute my mic when it gets real loud. They they
- 49:17Speaker 4: fly over my play sometimes an he shatters it, echoes
- 49:21Speaker 4: and rattle some windows. Here, here's one coming, get that
- 49:26Speaker 4: one at all up?
- 49:27Speaker 1: Oh yeah, I hear it. Yeah, because we heard it
- 49:30Speaker 1: a few times.
- 49:32Speaker 4: So they're so talented and fun to watch. Though.
- 49:36Speaker 2: To get up there with him, Kip, you got to
- 49:37Speaker 2: get up there with them one time.
- 49:39Speaker 4: I would love to. I I would think that'd be
- 49:41Speaker 4: a blast.
- 49:43Speaker 3: Yeah, it was. It wasn't until you get you don't
- 49:45Speaker 3: feel so good.
- 49:46Speaker 1: If you're going the home run bet variety. There is
- 49:50Speaker 1: an MLB No Sweat home run token that you can
- 49:53Speaker 1: activate within the bet MGM app to bet on any
- 49:55Speaker 1: player to hit a homer in an MLB game. If
- 49:57Speaker 1: that player fails to go yard, you get your stick
- 49:59Speaker 1: back in bonus bets. See the rest of the terms
- 50:02Speaker 1: in the conditions when inside the app, and if there's
- 50:05Speaker 1: a gambling problem more concerned called one eight hundred gambler. Hey,
- 50:20Speaker 1: awesome moment at NAT's Park on Thursday, six year old
- 50:23Speaker 1: Lincoln Night on the Make a Wish program wanted to
- 50:26Speaker 1: be a Nationals coach for a day, and so he
- 50:28Speaker 1: hung out with the players. Coaches did a media session,
- 50:30Speaker 1: and you said during the session that their plan to
- 50:32Speaker 1: attack PCA was pitch them slow and away. Well, I
- 50:35Speaker 1: mean kid could bally dominated, so I guess it worked out.
- 50:38Speaker 1: That's cool, good stuff. That's a good way for baseball
- 50:40Speaker 1: to get involved in these things.
- 50:43Speaker 3: Very cool, A little better thing than being asked by
- 50:47Speaker 3: a kid to be their wish. I used to do
- 50:48Speaker 3: a lot of these in Chicago, and when they would
- 50:51Speaker 3: come in, it was always a yes. They'd come to
- 50:52Speaker 3: me and say, hey, will you do a make a wish,
- 50:54Speaker 3: bring the kid in the clubhouse, let them hang around VP.
- 50:57Speaker 2: It was always always.
- 50:58Speaker 1: A yes, Yeah, I love that they have one more.
- 51:01Speaker 4: They have miles on the face too. Sorry, during all
- 51:04Speaker 4: of it, they have the biggest smiles on their face.
- 51:06Speaker 4: They just light up at anything. They're so excited to
- 51:08Speaker 4: be there, and it's just it puts things in perspective
- 51:11Speaker 4: very quickly for you when you saw it's an easy.
- 51:13Speaker 1: Yes on the All Star topic since things were being
- 51:20Speaker 1: announced Field of Dreams All Star wise, Cubs are hosting
- 51:24Speaker 1: twenty seven. We knew that. Twenty eight to San Francisco.
- 51:27Speaker 1: That's the short flight for players that are going to
- 51:29Speaker 1: be in the Olympics. Twenty twenty nine is expected to
- 51:33Speaker 1: be Awards to the Blue Jays, and then twenty thirty
- 51:35Speaker 1: to Baltimore. That's Bob night Andale reporting on upcoming All
- 51:38Speaker 1: Star trips. So keep that in mind. And then also, yeah,
- 51:41Speaker 1: I'll just show this off on their way out to God,
- 51:44Speaker 1: i'd you've been.
- 51:45Speaker 4: Watching a lot of them. I hope the Cubs get there.
- 51:48Speaker 4: They're All Star game in let's just say that. I
- 51:52Speaker 4: hope Rickalley gets it.
- 51:54Speaker 1: So does Pete, so does everybody.
- 51:56Speaker 2: Pete.
- 51:56Speaker 3: All right, I'm mad at Sarah about that shirt. We're
- 51:58Speaker 3: gonna have to discuss that on Monday. You want to
- 52:00Speaker 3: get back, yeah, m
