Transcript
- 0:09Hello and welcome back. You're listening to Galaxy
- 0:12Crashers, The Busted, and McFly podcast.
- 0:15The only place where Busted and McFly come together.
- 0:18Hosted by us 230 something mums who are still living in 2005 and
- 0:23genuinely believe skinny jeans were a personality trait.
- 0:27I'm Shan. And I'm Tay, and today is a big
- 0:30day because we are officially leaving room on the 3rd floor
- 0:34behind us and stepping into the wonderful, chaotic and slightly
- 0:38underrated world of Mcfly's second album, Wonderland.
- 0:44Honestly, this album feels like McFly is growing up in real
- 0:46time. Like bigger guitars, bigger
- 0:48choruses, more confidence, and significantly more interesting
- 0:52hairstyles. I'm talking hedgehogs on their
- 0:54head. I mean and like the straightened
- 0:57like flat to the face like it's. Straight and then like this
- 1:02second please. Well, I'm here for it and we're
- 1:05kicking things off with the opening single.
- 1:07An absolute anthem, that is. I'll be OK.
- 1:11What a song. It's a song that somehow manages
- 1:14to sound both heartbreaking and uplifting at the exact same
- 1:17time. Can I just say that is like the
- 1:19most true thing you've ever said?
- 1:20Because as soon as I read that earlier, I was like, Oh my God,
- 1:22there's such a true sentence. It really is.
- 1:25I can't wait to get stuck into the lyrics.
- 1:27Well, we have got McFly in the wild coming up today.
- 1:30A summer edition of this or that and and an unpopular opinion
- 1:34section that could potentially end friendships.
- 1:38Probably this one. And of course, a song of the
- 1:41week deep dive into I'll Be OK. Oh yes, we do.
- 1:47So what have you been up to this week?
- 1:48Anything interesting before we crack on?
- 1:52Not really to be honest. I had a summer fair at the
- 1:55school which was actually we were, we walked in and we were
- 1:58like we're not going to spend very long here.
- 2:00There's not a lot. We were there from open till
- 2:02close. I spent £25 on raffle tickets
- 2:06and I won a sooty and sweet puppet.
- 2:10You know, the little hand puppet.
- 2:12Like from the 90s? And I also won like AI won a
- 2:14mug. And I was like, on one side it
- 2:17says something like, I always get my head stuck in a mug or
- 2:23something like that. And I was like, what?
- 2:25Why is this mug coming for me? And then I turned around and it
- 2:28was Paddington Bear. No.
- 2:32And I was like this. Is a big one.
- 2:34This is. That was meant for you.
- 2:35Absolutely a big one. It's like, why is this mug
- 2:38coming for? Me best waffle rapper brides
- 2:41ever forgave. It love that.
- 2:45Absolutely love that. Yeah, that's it really.
- 2:46We've we've got birthday prep at the moment, Zaria's birthday
- 2:49party on Saturday and her birthday on Tuesday and then
- 2:53we're going to have family round on the following Saturday.
- 2:56Very exciting and the last time I spoke to you, you were
- 2:59actually prepping mermaid party bags, which were quite cute.
- 3:03Yeah, we are all we are. It's like a mermaid has vomited
- 3:06on my house. Yeah, the joys of being a girl,
- 3:08mum. What have you been up to?
- 3:12I had a big market this weekend so I went up to Totnes with all
- 3:15my crystals, some jewellery and did some selling which was super
- 3:18fun. And yeah I got like 2 nights
- 3:21away from everyone and had two nights of peace and actually 2
- 3:24full nights of sleep which was great, really enjoyed.
- 3:27It What does that feel like? So good.
- 3:30I feel, honestly, I feel more tired that's even possible.
- 3:34And then we had a little play date today.
- 3:37Yeah, exactly. Had a little play date today
- 3:39with our friend and her little boys, which was really lovely.
- 3:41And then back to work tomorrow. So yeah, same old, same old,
- 3:44really. But yeah, a good week.
- 3:46Hopefully the sunshine will be back out because it's clouded
- 3:49over and it's bloody miserable and I want to get back in the
- 3:50sea. So fingers crossed for this heat
- 3:52wave that is supposedly coming next week.
- 3:55Well, don't I want it to not get here until my swimming pool gets
- 3:57here? Please.
- 3:58That's coming on Sunday. OK, we'll wait for that.
- 4:02I'll, I'll send a message to the to the Sun.
- 4:07It's time for McFly in the Wild, where we discuss what the boys
- 4:11have been up to while we've all been pretending to be normal
- 4:14adults. And this summer has already been
- 4:17very busy in the McFly world. Festival season is fully
- 4:21underway and the boys have been popping up all over the place
- 4:23playing summer shows and festival slots everywhere.
- 4:26Seriously it's like all my whole feed like my TikTok my.
- 4:30Everywhere apart from Cornwall and Devon of course.
- 4:33Yeah, obviously, because, you know, we're just over here
- 4:36wasting away without them. Honestly, there really is
- 4:39something nice and like, comforting about seeing
- 4:42thousands of people in one open aired field screaming the words
- 4:47to Star Girl after all this time.
- 4:48Do you know what I mean? Like it's just one of those
- 4:50songs that will never die. 100% Also can I just ask why does
- 4:55Summer McFly hit differently to Tour McFly?
- 4:59Seriously, I was thinking about this earlier, right?
- 5:01I was like thinking back to my tour memories and like Busted
- 5:04versus McFly and like even back to like, you know, McFly tours,
- 5:08like Power the Power to Play for tour and like the 21st
- 5:10anniversary tour and all of those old tours that are so much
- 5:14fun. I don't know why summer shows
- 5:16are so different because Busted versus McFly was like October.
- 5:19So like, obviously it was in an arena, it was inside.
- 5:22There is something about being like out in a field at sunset,
- 5:26listening to like Corrupted with a beer in your hand and just the
- 5:30wind in your hair and just not having a care in the world,
- 5:33right? Yeah, 100%.
- 5:36I still like think about, if I think about, I've been to a lot
- 5:39of McFly shows and if I think back to my favourite ones, 95%
- 5:44of them are outside in the summer.
- 5:46Eden Project, when we went to for my 30th, it was just like in
- 5:50Taunton, in like a tiny field, yeah.
- 5:53Like a park, wasn't it? Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 5:57So. Strange.
- 5:57It was just like absolutely phenomenal and I genuinely think
- 6:00it is like that outside. Do you remember at that Taunton
- 6:04one actually where I went to the toilet and I saw them in a tree?
- 6:08Yes, yes, Everybody was just screaming because they were like
- 6:12behind the fence, but they climbed the tree to look out and
- 6:15we were just like. I was like, I think I was trying
- 6:19to ring you. I was walking past like a food.
- 6:21I was going to the toilet and I was walking past like a food
- 6:23truck or something. I was like, the queue isn't very
- 6:25big and I was trying to get a signal and I was like, do you
- 6:27want some chips, blah, blah, blah.
- 6:29And I couldn't hear you. And then everyone was screaming.
- 6:32So I just walked towards these people screaming because I was
- 6:34like, concert confidence. Right now.
- 6:38So walked in because normally I would not walked in and I was
- 6:41like Oh my goodness, Christ, goodness, Christ, Oh my
- 6:44goodness. Dougie Pointer in a tree.
- 6:48I can see Harry Judd's boxer line, like, Oh yeah.
- 6:54Because he was like holding onto the branch with his arms in the
- 6:56air. Yeah, and I was like, hello
- 6:59Harry. I'm too close to you guys, this
- 7:01isn't. No, it's very weird.
- 7:03You're not close enough. And then I think I got back into
- 7:07the, I got back into the the Golden Circle, and I came over
- 7:11to you and I was like, Danny Jones was taking pictures of us
- 7:13all. I'm probably on a gallery on
- 7:17Danny Jones's photos on his phone.
- 7:20What? And I just couldn't get over the
- 7:23fact that there might be a blurry Shannon on Danny Jones.
- 7:28Danny Jones's phone. I can't even get my words out.
- 7:32I'm still excited. About it, I mean, it's just a
- 7:35great place to be. I love it.
- 7:38I love a summer show. Yeah, I'm here for it.
- 7:41I haven't been to a summer show for a couple of years,
- 7:43obviously, because I have a young child and the last time I
- 7:47went to a summer show I was three months pregnant.
- 7:48So I that was that one that I'm talking about.
- 7:51That was that one there. Yeah.
- 7:52So, you know, it's, it's been a while.
- 7:54So I'm, I've been very sadly living vicariously through other
- 7:59people for the last, you know, four or five weeks since
- 8:02they've. Been well, they just don't come
- 8:03S enough and if they do it's always on a weekday.
- 8:07Yeah. Like how dare you do Cardiff on
- 8:09a weekday? I work.
- 8:13I can't get the time off. Yeah, exactly, exactly.
- 8:17Well, you know, everybody that's been to summer shows, we are
- 8:20absolutely all here for your photos, your videos, your
- 8:24favourite moments. Please send them all to us
- 8:26because we are living vicariously through you all.
- 8:29However, on that note, what did we do today, Shannon?
- 8:36Early morning impulse purchase might have happened.
- 8:39I might be asking to borrow some money for my rent next month.
- 8:44I may have this morning. Some money.
- 8:48I may have this morning started just went on Mcfly's website
- 8:52just to, you know, have a look around, see what's going on,
- 8:54look at the merch, look at the shows, you know, see, see what's
- 8:57hanging. And I saw obviously that there's
- 9:00like 4 shows left and had a look at where they were.
- 9:02And I was like, where are these? Obviously Glasgow, Too far, way
- 9:05too far. And I was like, I wonder where
- 9:07Hayward's teeth is? I wonder where that is.
- 9:10And I was like, I'm just going to get up on my maps just to
- 9:12see, you know, for, for just, you know, for.
- 9:15Research purposes. Just for research for shits and
- 9:17gigs. You know how far away that is?
- 9:20And it's only like 5 1/2 hours only only 25 five hours and 25
- 9:27minutes. And it's in the summer holidays.
- 9:29And it's in the summer holidays and I'm and it's a Friday and I
- 9:32was just like, yeah, I can do that.
- 9:34Bucking it. Why not?
- 9:37So this morning when you messaged me this morning, 30 AMI
- 9:41booked 2 tickets for the McFly at Hayward Heath.
- 9:45When you messaged me I was like when you said Hayward Heath, it
- 9:48sounds Cornish. It does.
- 9:50It sounds sounds Southwest, I'm not going to lie.
- 9:54I was like. Oh, Southwest, I thought it was.
- 9:57Closer than it was well of Cornwall again.
- 9:59Yeah, literally. I mean, there was a couple.
- 10:01There's one other that was like, I think it's Chelmsford, but
- 10:04that's literally about the same. And there were less tickets
- 10:07available for Chelmsford anyway. And I was like, let's go to
- 10:10Haywards Heath. It's outside, It's in a big
- 10:12park. It's outside of London.
- 10:14So it's not like we've got to go into London and like, deal with
- 10:17the Tube and the people and like parking and all of that.
- 10:21So yeah, we did it. We're going to see McFly again.
- 10:24We're just so excited because what's?
- 10:25Depression when you've got a McFly gig.
- 10:27Exactly. And we were not expecting to go
- 10:30this year because we were both at the beginning of the, when
- 10:33the summer tours were announced, we were like, they're going to
- 10:34come to the southwest. They're gonna, they will.
- 10:36They will. And then they didn't.
- 10:40And we were like, oh, no, we've pretty much missed out now
- 10:42because Cardiff had sold out by that point.
- 10:44And then they reached on another date.
- 10:45And then we were like, oh, we can't go to that date because
- 10:47it's in the middle of the week and we can't get off work
- 10:50because it's not in a holiday. So I think the dream just sort
- 10:54of got smaller and smaller and smaller.
- 10:56And we were just like, Oh my God, this is the year that we
- 10:58don't see McFly. Like that is the most depressing
- 11:01thing in the whole world. I don't think there's been a
- 11:02year that I haven't seen McFly or busted for a very long time.
- 11:06No, I agree. Literally it was, it was
- 11:09depressing just knowing that we weren't going.
- 11:11So even looking at everybody's videos and stuff, I'm just sat
- 11:13here like internally sobbing every time.
- 11:16And on that note, on that note, can we have a little chat about
- 11:21Tom Fletcher? Who?
- 11:28Who's sorry? Don't know that.
- 11:29Name can I I'm lost for words with this man right now Did you
- 11:35see the white shirt, the white T-shirt shirt and the the
- 11:41flares, the denim flares I. Think we all saw that mate.
- 11:48I spent hours, hours that day just watching the same video
- 11:56just the same. Like 5 videos over and over.
- 11:58Again. I know, I really am.
- 12:01It's OK, I'm allowed to appreciate his outfit.
- 12:04Can I also say though, that night I had a very, very lovely
- 12:07dream about him. And annoy him upstairs.
- 12:14Had a lovely dream about Tom Fletcher that night and you were
- 12:17there because we were at a gig. Don't worry, you weren't there
- 12:21for that part. I'm glad.
- 12:23I'm glad you just. Kept joking.
- 12:25I'm joking. Not so much.
- 12:27We were at, we were at some sort of like small venue.
- 12:31It was like, it felt like a theatre like, but like a school
- 12:36hall, but like it was like a big house and it was really weird.
- 12:42And we were like waiting. And we were like waiting by the
- 12:45door to be let in because we were like, we have to get to the
- 12:46barrier, have to get to the barrier.
- 12:48And we were like, because you know what, We're like, we're
- 12:49like front row girls. And we were just like, and my
- 12:52family were there, like my mum and my granddad, they were all
- 12:55there. Yeah, really weird.
- 12:56And we were just like, oh, when we get in there, like me and
- 12:59Shannon, we're just going to run because like we've got to get to
- 13:00the front. Like I don't know what the like,
- 13:02you know how it's going to be, but we're just going to go in.
- 13:04Like there's going to be loads of people already in there and
- 13:06we've got to get there. We've got to get there, open the
- 13:08doors, and there was like 6 people just wandering around and
- 13:10we were like, so we just strolled up to the barrier,
- 13:16nobody around us, and there was like barely anybody around.
- 13:20And then we watched the show. And then at some point me and
- 13:22Tom Flancher were just slow dancing around the room.
- 13:27Like like Strictly, I've been watching too much TV and too
- 13:32many McFly videos. Yeah, there was a lot of there
- 13:37was a lot of swaying and there may have been some smooching and
- 13:39there was definitely a little forehead touch moment.
- 13:42I can remember him putting his forehead against my forehead.
- 13:44It was very sweet. And then I woke up and felt
- 13:47awful because, you know, I'm married and so is he.
- 13:51Oh, sorry, Giovanna, love you. You can come too.
- 13:55I'm Jack. Absolutely.
- 13:57Everybody join in. It's great fun.
- 14:01So yeah, there we go. So I get to hopefully relive
- 14:05that in person very soon because we're going to see McFly.
- 14:08I think that's definitely going to happen.
- 14:10Actually, I think I've actually predicted the future.
- 14:13Yeah, that's definitely going to happen.
- 14:15I might just get a little sign that says, Tom Fletcher, I dream
- 14:17of you. Please, please hashtag please
- 14:23slow dance with me. Can we have a forehead kiss do?
- 14:27You remember my it's my 30th birthday little cardboard sign
- 14:31and someone like 3 rows behind us had this big.
- 14:33Yeah, it's my birthday. It was.
- 14:36You were just like love me. I think we're going to have to
- 14:42we're going to have to do some sort of sign this year.
- 14:44So if any of you listening, I know there's not loads of you,
- 14:47loads of you on the live right now, but if anybody is
- 14:49listening, when we eventually post this video, let us know.
- 14:53Are you going to Haywards Heath? Like do you want to meet up?
- 14:56What time you're queuing? Because we'll be there early
- 14:58doors. Well, we say early doors.
- 14:59We've got to leave at 6:00 AM from Exeter.
- 15:02So it's going to be going to be like 10 by the time we get
- 15:05there. But you know, we'll be there.
- 15:06We will be there with our camping chairs and our sun
- 15:10umbrellas and blankets because it's going to be mid August and.
- 15:14And then the next week, we're going to see Carrie.
- 15:17And the week after we're going to see Carrie.
- 15:18Oh no, isn't it the week before? I think Carrie's first.
- 15:22Even more exciting. Carrie's first.
- 15:24Yeah. So 2 flexes instead of go.
- 15:26See your brother next week. I literally was thinking about
- 15:28it earlier. I'm going to tell her.
- 15:31I'm probably not. I'm probably just going to
- 15:34probably not be quiet. Not say anything.
- 15:37I'm probably not gonna say anything.
- 15:39Well, there we go. August is a big bump.
- 15:44It's time for this or that Wonderland edition.
- 15:48The rules are simple, no thinking, no explanations, just
- 15:53vibes. Just always.
- 15:55We always do kind of overthink and we do explain.
- 16:01Explain a lot. Yeah, I know.
- 16:02It's really not a a quick thing anymore.
- 16:04Is it this or that? It used to be OK?
- 16:07Do you want to go fast? We've got 2 each.
- 16:08Do you want to? Yeah.
- 16:09Join me. You.
- 16:10Me. You.
- 16:10Let's go. Yeah, let's do it.
- 16:13OK, on the theme of the new album I've got, and this tells
- 16:17you a very hard question for me. Wonderland or Motion in the
- 16:20Ocean? This is so hard.
- 16:26I can't believe you've actually asked me this.
- 16:28Like straight, straight off the cusp.
- 16:30Like Oh Wonderland is such a good album.
- 16:35It's got some of my favourite songs.
- 16:38I mean. But most let me just let me just
- 16:42get the song list up so that because I might forget some and
- 16:45then I'll be like. Walking in the Sun bubble wrap
- 16:49versus Transylvania ballad of Paul K.
- 16:52Please, please, Lindsay. Oh, it's got Walk in the Sun and
- 16:56it's got Star Girl. Oh.
- 16:58Yeah. OK, let's have another look at
- 17:00Wonderland. Oh, this is just too difficult.
- 17:04I want to hold you. I'll be OK.
- 17:06She falls asleep. Too Close for Comfort is a great
- 17:14song as well. Oh my goodness, I have my Bebo
- 17:18skin. I.
- 17:20Love that for you. I think it's going to have to be
- 17:23motion in the ocean, guys, but that's really difficult because
- 17:28I I love nearly all of the songs on this album, but star girl,
- 17:36star girl, one of my top Oh. For Star Girl 1.
- 17:39Of my no, no, how dare you? How dare.
- 17:43You oh for star girl. Can't wait until you hear my
- 17:47rating for Star Girl I. Can't wait for you to hear my
- 17:51rating for Ballad of Poor Gay. I'll be bum.
- 17:55But I know that's why you love this album, because that's your
- 17:57top song. But Star Girl is one of my top
- 18:00songs, so that's probably why I will have to choose my children
- 18:02and walk in the sun. Come on.
- 18:06Yeah. So my answer to this would be
- 18:07Wonderland only because I think 95% of Wonderland is 89 and 10
- 18:17for me. Yeah, yeah.
- 18:20Motion in the Ocean, it's like 789 and 10.
- 18:25It's still absolutely brilliant, but I think I love Motion in the
- 18:29Ocean because it's like it reminds, it's so random, but it
- 18:32reminds me of doing GCSE maths. I remember listening to it so
- 18:37much. I think the album might have
- 18:39just come out or came out the year before or something.
- 18:42And I remember like doing all my revision to this soundtrack.
- 18:48Or it might, might have been, yeah, it was GCSE.
- 18:50It wasn't SAT, it was GCSE, so this is motion in the ocean is
- 18:56very nostalgic to me. But Wonderland every 95% of the
- 19:01songs. 98% of the songs are an 89 and 10.
- 19:05It's just so difficult. It's so difficult.
- 19:09I'm almost I'm almost contemplating my answer.
- 19:14Literally the songs on Wonderland.
- 19:17It's such an overlooked album. I know and I know that.
- 19:21That's why I'm like, oh, I don't know whether I've made the right
- 19:23choice. I feel like I only chose motion
- 19:26in the ocean because of bubble wrap and Star Girl.
- 19:30But. Motion in the Ocean has 10 out
- 19:34of 10 songs on more than one, maybe more than three, but
- 19:38Wonderland has a lot of eight nines and 10s.
- 19:43Yeah, I'll be OK. I've got you.
- 19:46I want to hold you too close for comfort.
- 19:48All about you and don't know why.
- 19:49I'll probably all very highly rated for me.
- 19:55She falls asleep. I love even though there's no
- 19:57words, but I love, I love it. Ballad of Paul K Ultraviolet not
- 20:02overly bothered by them but would listen to them and nothing
- 20:06Memory Lane equally same like they're good songs.
- 20:08I wouldn't rate any of them below a 5 maybe.
- 20:14Shut your face. Shut your face up your bum, shut
- 20:19your face and and. Very, very good comment here.
- 20:23If there was no Star Girl, there'd be no Star Girl kicks,
- 20:26which is the highlight of many people's McFly gig.
- 20:29OK I need this on AT shirt. OK for me every single song is a
- 20:3510 out of 10 live. Every single song is 10 out of
- 20:4010 live. Yeah, OK.
- 20:42But for me, all right, I'm slight.
- 20:43Choosing Shake It Off over tolerate it if you're a Taylor
- 20:46Swift fan, that's what choosing Star Girl feels.
- 20:50Like, yeah, I feel like you've convinced me and that I'm going
- 20:54to go with my heart and not my head.
- 20:55My my heart, says Wonderland. My head says motion in the
- 20:59ocean. She's that's getting cold
- 21:01Corona. She's drinking pina colada
- 21:05cider, which I am. OK, Yeah, I'm going to go.
- 21:12I'm going to go underland. Oh, God, that was hard.
- 21:15That was a very long discussion. OK.
- 21:19I'm coming to you for this now because you and I have had a lot
- 21:22of conversations about these two over the last few months.
- 21:25Danny, lead vocals or Tom lead vocals.
- 21:29And I want you to think about them in general as people, not
- 21:31just their vocals. No.
- 21:34No, no, I can't do that. Yeah, it's my this or that up
- 21:37your bums, my Thistle bum. I can't do that, can't do that
- 21:41because the question is Danny lead vocals or Tom lead vocals?
- 21:43And if it said Tom lead vocals and his chickens.
- 21:46OK, but Tom lead vocals slash personality.
- 21:49Danny lead vocals Slash. No, you can do that for next
- 21:52week because I'm not ready for that.
- 21:55All right, just the vocals. Just the vocals.
- 21:57OK, oh, now I've just put that on me for next week.
- 22:00Fuck sake. I would say for me it's quite
- 22:09easy. I'm saying Danny is very cool.
- 22:16Wrong answer, sorry. I'm saying Danny is very cool.
- 22:21It's not easy because I don't like Toms, but it's easy because
- 22:24I feel like Danny is on another level and has been since I was
- 22:2811. Yeah, yeah, I get you.
- 22:30I just don't agree. You're entitled to your opinion,
- 22:35but it's wrong. OK, I'll take it.
- 22:38I'll take it. I'll take it, I'll take it, I'll
- 22:40take it, I'll take it. Yeah, I mean.
- 22:43I'm assuming you agree with me then, and you're going to choose
- 22:45Danny as well. Yeah, obviously you're Tom Gale.
- 22:49Tom Gale over here, I don't think anybody can compare to
- 22:54either of these two men. Like vocal wise, there is nobody
- 22:57in the world you can have, you know, impersonators and tribute
- 23:01bands galore. There is nobody that will ever
- 23:03sound like them to me. Like they are so unique in their
- 23:07voice. I just think Tom Danny has that
- 23:11like raw. Like.
- 23:13Rough and ready, kind of like attitude and like sound.
- 23:18That's just not what I go for. I'm just in, in many ways,
- 23:22that's just not what I go for. I like the the soft, versatile,
- 23:28tall, lanky boy like my husband actually, let me put it that
- 23:33way. I think he's very much his.
- 23:37His vocal versatility is just unbelievable.
- 23:42Did you hear his room on the 3rd floor riff that he did at?
- 23:47Where was it that he played the other day?
- 23:50I'll try and avoid listening to room on the 3rd floor if I'm
- 23:53honest. Well, not the actual song.
- 23:56The live version, which you yourself will tell me is 10 out
- 24:00of 10 is. 10 out of 10. It's the I've got to keep my
- 24:06feet on the ground and I was like taught me.
- 24:13That was very, that was very. You make me wanna shout.
- 24:17It actually does. It did sound a little bit like
- 24:19that at the end then I was. But it was so funny.
- 24:23It was so good. As I'm saying, he's still
- 24:25singing it. Literally, it went on for so
- 24:28long. Everybody was just like, Oh my
- 24:30God, I can listen to that man. He could literally sing me the
- 24:35dictionary and I would want to listen to it.
- 24:39Wow, that's a bold statement and I love your commitment and but I
- 24:46don't. Agree, full stop.
- 24:49I know because no, because I do. And I'm the same.
- 24:53I love Danny's vocals, so it's not and and you know what they
- 24:55complement complement each other perfectly.
- 24:59Like at if Danny was more like Tom or Tom was more like Danny
- 25:02and they sang like similarly, it wouldn't work.
- 25:05It wouldn't work. And the same with Dougie.
- 25:07Even Dougie's vocals, Dougie's vocals are completely different.
- 25:11You know when Dougie's singing and when Dougie's singing,
- 25:13people go mad. He'll say fucking love Dougie
- 25:15singing. Do you know what I mean?
- 25:16Like when he sings his little bits here and there that he
- 25:18sings on his own, like everybody loves it because we don't get to
- 25:21hear him sing on his own very much.
- 25:23So when he does, it's even more special.
- 25:25But they just. I'm waiting for I'm waiting for
- 25:28Harry to have his Kevin Jonas moment.
- 25:30Have you seen that Kevin Jonas has just released a song?
- 25:33I have. I haven't heard it, but I did
- 25:35see it come up and I was like, oh, that's interesting.
- 25:38Yeah, I'm here. I'm married to have his Kevin
- 25:40Jonas moment. He's in High School Musical, so
- 25:42he's got to be able to sing to some extent, right?
- 25:44Because surely he's going to be in the ensemble areas.
- 25:49Coach Bolton, I'm not sure Coach Bolton's going to be doing that.
- 25:52I can just hear him saying, what's that line?
- 25:56What the hell are you doing in a tree?
- 26:00What the hell are you doing in a tree?
- 26:01Doing in a tree. I just.
- 26:04I just want him to say it. Yeah, I'm here for it.
- 26:07I'm here for it. Well, there we go.
- 26:08Let's go to your second one then, because we've got 2 each
- 26:11haven't. We can do that.
- 26:11Hurry up. My second one is I'll be OK or I
- 26:15want to hold you. I think it's going.
- 26:26To Oh, that's so hard. I want to hold you Most guys are
- 26:32turning black. Feels like, oh, it's got to be,
- 26:34I've got it's got to be I want to hold you.
- 26:37It's just I love, I love, love, love, love, love, love, love.
- 26:40I'll be OK so much and we'll find out ratings later on.
- 26:42It's it's one of my like, like favourite McFly songs.
- 26:46But I want to hold you like, it's just more like it's got
- 26:49more to it. It's the like, it's a bit more
- 26:54upbeat and like, and I want to, I'll be OK obviously has a bit
- 26:57more of that, but like and it means a lot more to me.
- 26:59That song, I think that song like emotionally has a like it
- 27:02hits me here a bit more. We've like we'll talk about
- 27:04later, but I don't know. I just feel like if I was like,
- 27:07if I wanted to choose a song to listen to it, it would probably
- 27:10be I want to hold you. What would you choose?
- 27:12Nice, I think I would choose. I forget I have to answer these
- 27:22as well. I haven't thought about it.
- 27:27I think I would choose I'll be OK.
- 27:31Yeah. Because the song is a fucking
- 27:36banger, but it's also really deep.
- 27:41Yeah, emotional. Like it has both of the I want
- 27:44to hold you is so good, but like the I'll be OK hits.
- 27:50Yeah, like it does. In your chest.
- 27:52Absolutely. The lyrics are so like, emotive,
- 27:55aren't they poignant? And it's funny because it
- 27:57doesn't even sound emo, like emotional, but it is when you
- 28:00think about what they're actually saying.
- 28:02It's actually really deep. But because it's like, I'll be
- 28:06OK. Like you want to do like a
- 28:08little Carlton dance to it, You know what I mean?
- 28:11Yeah, yeah, yeah. It feels very much like a 2 step
- 28:14kind of dance, but it's not. Yeah, I get you.
- 28:17OK, cool. My last one is Harry's drumming
- 28:21solos or Dougie's bass face, because let me tell you, I've
- 28:27been watching some more doggy content recently and I'm here
- 28:30for it. He's got a bass face.
- 28:33He's got a bass face he does like, doesn't.
- 28:35Sound like a compliment? No, no, it's good.
- 28:37It's so good. He's got like, it's like a flat
- 28:39eyebrow where he sort of goes like this.
- 28:41Oh no. And.
- 28:42Then he looks at people and he's like and then.
- 28:44He's like, you're really selling it.
- 28:47I think he'll. Go.
- 28:48Harry and he's definitely more attractive, but you know, OK,
- 28:52you're going for Harry, are you? Well, I don't know.
- 28:55I, we had a conversation earlier today that our listeners won't
- 29:00know about that We were talking where we would stand when we get
- 29:04there to the concert in London and you were like, oh, let's go
- 29:11Tom, blah, blah, blah. And I was agreeing with you, but
- 29:15I also threw in Dougie because I love Dougie live.
- 29:21He just gets over. I think he gets overlooked by
- 29:25the casuals. That sounds really judgmental,
- 29:28but like people are there for Danny.
- 29:30They're there for Tom. Dougie is hilarious.
- 29:33There are a lot of Dougie fans I have found very recently.
- 29:36There are a lot of, but I think The thing is with Dougie is he
- 29:39moves around a lot more than the other two because he doesn't
- 29:42sing, because he doesn't sing very much.
- 29:45He's like more free. Whereas like obviously Tom and
- 29:47Danny have to stand in those two places a lot more than others
- 29:51because he's always off doing things.
- 29:54Dougie's literally always moving.
- 29:56I feel like no matter where we stand, we'll see.
- 29:57Dougie, do you know what I mean? Oh, a hundred 100%, but that's
- 30:01that. What's my argument for this?
- 30:03Because I think I will say Dougie because I love watching
- 30:06Dougie live. However, I will say I've never
- 30:11clapped so hard for anybody than I do when Harry gets a drop.
- 30:15So. When he comes, when he comes to
- 30:17the front of the stage and everybody.
- 30:18'S like I'm. Like, can I?
- 30:22Can I also put Harry Judd's backwards cap on?
- 30:26There we go. I might wear a T-shirt that says
- 30:29Harry, I run too, Harry, Dread in training, please, just.
- 30:37Harry, I run. Too Hi I will actually not do.
- 30:42Harry, I run. Too, Harry, I was.
- 30:45I thought you put my name in the Harry.
- 30:51I've put my name in the London ballot for the the marathon
- 30:56because of you. Yeah, lol.
- 30:59Listeners, I did not. I mean, I did put my name in
- 31:02there, but it wasn't because of Harry.
- 31:04However, he would be a lovely little bonus.
- 31:07Addition. Yeah, a good addition,
- 31:09absolutely. I I imagine we'll be crossing
- 31:12the line at the same time. Yeah, absolutely.
- 31:15You would be, of course. Oh yeah, I won't be like 3 hours
- 31:18behind him. I find this so hard because I I
- 31:21love Harry so much and went like I said, when that backwards caps
- 31:25on someone else, I don't know what it is.
- 31:28I don't know what it is about the backwards cap.
- 31:30And then they're all like baggy wife Beetle that he wears,
- 31:36however. But you're going to say Dougie's
- 31:37bass face, aren't you? Yeah, I'm going to go Dougie's
- 31:39bass face because I just think he's so fun.
- 31:41He's so fun. You can't not smile looking at
- 31:43Dougie Pointer. You literally can't.
- 31:45He is a breath of fresh air. He really is.
- 31:48He's just so great. But I mean, I'm happy with any
- 31:51of them, to be honest. Any of the four, I agree.
- 31:54Any of the four in any audit. It's fine.
- 31:57It's all good with me. I'm here for.
- 31:58It it's a bit of everything. Yeah, a bit of everything.
- 32:03So this week on our socials you may have seen a little video of
- 32:06me sharing some unpopular opinions about McFly and Busted
- 32:10that I found on Reddit and I wanted to see your views on.
- 32:15Oh yeah. Where there was some pretty,
- 32:18pretty brutal ones on there. So we thought today that we
- 32:21would share a few of the ones we shared.
- 32:25And give you a little insight into some of our unpopular
- 32:29opinions too, which I'm a little bit scared about, I'm not going
- 32:32to lie. Also just realised I've left my
- 32:35notebook in the other room with the unpopular opinions on so I'm
- 32:37just going to go and. Grab them.
- 32:39Oh nice I love that for you. Thanks for that.
- 32:47I'm worried I'm going to be judged for mine but also I feel
- 32:51like I share my unpopular opinions so much that it's not
- 32:56really a shock. Unpopular.
- 32:58It's not unpopular at all. Not.
- 33:00Really a shock anymore. OK, so we're going to start with
- 33:05a few of the ones from our TikTok video.
- 33:08And if you're interested in knowing how people responded to
- 33:11this, please head over to that post because it was actually
- 33:14quite interesting. So the first one and Shannon,
- 33:17Shannon doesn't actually know these, so I'm going to just read
- 33:20you the ones that I shared because obviously I did the
- 33:22video, the first one. Nice.
- 33:24Well, the first one I've got written down is Where Did All
- 33:28the guitars go? And God of Rock'n'roll lyrics
- 33:31were juvenile and not good singles for their Power to Play
- 33:35album. How do you feel about that?
- 33:39I love those songs. I know, me too.
- 33:42I love those songs. I think there are better songs
- 33:48on the album. OK, but I think singles are
- 33:52singles and they're supposed to be pop and catchy and fun.
- 33:55And like, obviously they're not. They don't have to be like that,
- 33:58but they have to be catchy because you won't be able to buy
- 34:01them. You won't be able to relate to
- 34:02them in some kind of way. So I actually feel like they
- 34:05were the perfect singles. There's a reason why I love
- 34:09album songs. Do you know what I mean?
- 34:10Yeah, no, yeah, I'm not singles. Absolutely.
- 34:13OK, cool. I agree.
- 34:15I don't think it was juvenile. I think they were good singles.
- 34:17I think they were good choices. Next one was quite controversial
- 34:21for a few commenters. Danny Jones winning I'm A
- 34:25Celebrity and Mask Singer has gone to his head.
- 34:32There was a little bit more to that comment, I'm not going to
- 34:34lie. There was a little bit more and
- 34:35it was a little bit about his overinflated ego, I think.
- 34:38You've gone. You've gone.
- 34:41I'm back. I'm here.
- 34:42I mean, can you hear me? No.
- 34:45Yes. Yes, I can now.
- 34:47Yeah. Oh, wait.
- 34:48Weird. I mean your headphone.
- 34:51Mouth is moving and then your words are like.
- 34:54My microphone is still going and.
- 34:55I Oh, there we go. You're back.
- 34:57You're back. Sorry.
- 34:58Oh, sorry. Yeah, OK, I'll just say that bit
- 35:00again. There was a little bit more
- 35:03about his this about this comment, and I think it was
- 35:06talking a little bit about his overinflated ego, which was
- 35:10quite, quite shocking. But I didn't include that bit.
- 35:13I just put it's gone to his head.
- 35:14What do you think? Disagree.
- 35:18I mean, I'm a Danny girl, but I I don't entirely disagree.
- 35:29I've been a Danny girl since I was like, I can remember since I
- 35:33can remember. But I think that he's not ever
- 35:40really experienced fame to himself.
- 35:43He's been known as Danny from McFly, McFly.
- 35:45And I feel like the Danny Jones, like Danny on his own may have
- 35:52gone to his head a little bit. I think he's a bit, I don't know
- 35:59how to say it, but yeah, I think he's, I love him.
- 36:03He's still 10 out of 10 for me so my favourite member however.
- 36:07But it has to have changed your personality a little bit.
- 36:10Winning all those shows are becoming a little bit more
- 36:12famous with people that perhaps didn't know you and then watch
- 36:16those shows and we're like, oh, he's sick.
- 36:18You know what I mean? Like because obviously McFly
- 36:21fans know him in a different way to people that only watch them
- 36:25him in the jungle or only watch Masked Singer.
- 36:28Yeah, and I feel like McFly fans know him as a certain type of
- 36:32person that we've all seen and grown up with him being.
- 36:35And he has kind of changed slightly in the things that he
- 36:41does and the way he interacts with people.
- 36:46But I'm not saying it's a negative thing.
- 36:48I'm just saying it's just. Different.
- 36:50It's changed him a bit. Yeah, he's grown in a in a
- 36:53different way. I completely agree.
- 36:55Yeah, I don't think it's inflated his ego.
- 36:58I just think it it has changed him, but not in that sort of
- 37:01way. Yeah, absolutely.
- 37:03The next one. Red's hook is repetitive and
- 37:06annoying. Can't relate.
- 37:11No, I think actually that might be what I said.
- 37:16Can't relate. I think that might actually be
- 37:18what I said about this exact thing on the video.
- 37:21Absolutely. Oh, really?
- 37:22It actually might be hilarious the love people have for Dougie
- 37:27Pointer is overrated. I think Dougie Roy, Dougie
- 37:33Rointer, Dougie Rointer. I think Dougie Pointer is
- 37:37underrated. Literally, how can you think?
- 37:40I think all four of them are on an equal pillar, but two of them
- 37:44get given a lot of attention, which makes the other two very
- 37:50much underrated. Yeah, absolutely.
- 37:53I completely agree. I don't.
- 37:54I didn't get that. I didn't get that at all.
- 37:56I was like, whoa, how dare you come for Dougie.
- 38:00Let's let's take a step back. The last one had me raging.
- 38:07I was about to hunt this person down with a pitchfork.
- 38:11Oh, I thought you said Hump and then you finished your sentence
- 38:14and I was like, oh, OK. Not with a pitchfork.
- 38:17I'm going to say it again, Hunt with a There's no humping.
- 38:20There's no humping going on here.
- 38:23OK, Are you prepared? Not really.
- 38:28Tom Fletcher has zero personality and is unlikable.
- 38:40That was me shot in my book. Because I'm done.
- 38:42I. Watch what you say, you know.
- 38:45What do you know what? No, genuinely, I don't agree.
- 38:48I don't agree even slightly. However, I will say at some
- 38:53shows from when I was younger, I'm not saying now.
- 38:57Now he's so like, it's almost like he's done a lot of therapy.
- 39:00But when I was younger he was very in himself in some shows
- 39:06which could maybe come across as not a lot of personality.
- 39:10This comment was from a year ago, so just putting that out
- 39:12there. OK, Well then I don't, I don't
- 39:17agree. I don't because I was going to
- 39:20say I know the guy. I obviously don't know the guy,
- 39:23but I think that I can see how it would look like that years
- 39:30and years ago as an outsider. Yeah.
- 39:33Like if Bradley came to watch the show.
- 39:35Yeah, yeah, I get that. I think like if you're talking
- 39:38back in like 2004, maybe like at the beginning when he was, I
- 39:43think he obviously was quite like an in like an introvert and
- 39:47like probably found it quite difficult.
- 39:50He looked like he sounds quite difficult to be himself and like
- 39:53he was always considered like the chubby one as well, which is
- 39:57freaking hilarious because was he even remotely chubby?
- 39:59No, ridiculous. But when you look when when he
- 40:03was, when they were all younger, he wasn't the one that girls
- 40:07flocked to. Girls flocked to Danny and
- 40:09Dougie and Harry and Tom was like a last choice.
- 40:12Not for me. Just put that right out there
- 40:13right now. Tom was always number one for
- 40:15me. Thank you very much.
- 40:17However, now it's very different.
- 40:19Now there are a lot of Tom girlies and there are a lot of
- 40:22people that literally go to see Tom so and like he has so much
- 40:28stage presence and he's so confident and he's so like, oh,
- 40:31he's like sweet, sweet caramel. He is like fluid, do you know
- 40:35what I mean? He could do it in his sleep.
- 40:37He literally could perform in his sleep.
- 40:39Like he's so so talented as a human being.
- 40:41I was literally ready for a scrap when I read that comment.
- 40:46I don't think he's like that at all.
- 40:49I think that's rage bait. Well, there were definitely a
- 40:54few replies to that comment on that thread that were rage I'm.
- 40:57Hoping like disagreeing replies. Yes, absolutely, quite a few.
- 41:02OK. Quite a few.
- 41:04I'm just not here for it. I'm sorry, what?
- 41:06Who are you? Who are you?
- 41:11Who are you? So the people on TikTok live
- 41:15also agreeing with the the disgusting comment about Tom at
- 41:19the end. Bonnie has said whoever said
- 41:21that I need an address and a nice little chat with Bonnie.
- 41:24You and me, girl. Let's get our Yeah, no one talks
- 41:29bad about my tea bag. Yeah, Hallelujah, Halla freaking
- 41:33lujah. I'm bringing the pitchforks.
- 41:36And RA234 said they haven't seen him lying down on stage at a
- 41:41show because he literally did. You see the video?
- 41:44And he was like, he was so hot. He was just like led the playing
- 41:46his guitar with his legs in the air.
- 41:49I'm here for that. I'm so here for that.
- 41:51Absolutely. So now we've shared the ones I
- 41:54shared on the video. And also just to let you all
- 41:56know, there's a busted one that's just come out today.
- 41:59Unpopular opinions were busted, which we will be talking about
- 42:02the next episode. Shall we share our our unpopular
- 42:06opinions? Should we do a me, you, me, you
- 42:07kind of kind of thing? Go on.
- 42:11OK. Oh I'm scared I'm going to be
- 42:13like cancelled. My my unpopular opinion is the
- 42:20Mcbusted era was legit and I will die on this hill given that
- 42:24album. A10 out of 10.
- 42:26Don't care what anybody says. That was one of my favourite.
- 42:30Eras. Absolutely legit 10 out of.
- 42:34I agree with you completely. And hands down one of the best
- 42:38shows I have ever been to ever. And we went to the ERA store,
- 42:43so. Every song in that album is a 10
- 42:45out of 10 or the album as a whole.
- 42:47The album as a whole is 10. OK.
- 42:50There's probably one or two that are maybe like an 8 or 9.
- 42:54OK. I can't even think about.
- 42:56I like. The Mcbusted era, I think it got
- 42:58too much hate. Yeah, so much hate on that.
- 43:02My horse a little bit. Absolutely.
- 43:04Oh, not my McFly getting together with James and Matt and
- 43:08now everybody fucking loves them.
- 43:09And even the McFly fans, they were like, oh, we don't like
- 43:11Mcbusted saw Busted and they were like, oh, they're actually
- 43:14pretty fucking good. Do you know what I mean?
- 43:16Yes, actually they are up your bum.
- 43:20Up your bum. Up your bum.
- 43:23So yeah, 10 out of 10, over to you.
- 43:25My first and popular opinion is I think certain songs should be
- 43:32scrapped from the set list completely.
- 43:34And I'm not talking I'm I'm basically looking at Room on the
- 43:403rd floor. Shine a Light and All about you.
- 43:45I don't need to hear them again. I don't.
- 43:48Yeah, I get it. We know this would be well.
- 43:50Done for writing those songs, we understand they were.
- 43:53Very, very good. Back in the box now I'm done
- 43:54with them. I feel like they should do like
- 43:56a rotation because there are so many songs and they are there
- 44:01are so many good songs that like why wouldn't you rotate them?
- 44:04Why would you stick to the same songs?
- 44:07And like, we know that they've done a couple of surprise songs,
- 44:09haven't they? Like on this, on the in the
- 44:11summer shows. We know Corrupted's been played.
- 44:13We know there was everybody knows what was the other one
- 44:15they did. Oh, falling in love.
- 44:16Oh my God, I would have died. Can I just say my radioactive
- 44:20heart is going to poo if I get something like fucking?
- 44:28I don't know, I can't even think of a bad song but like if I
- 44:30don't get anything from radioactive if I get room on the
- 44:373rd floor twice. Yeah, you'll be fuming.
- 44:41Yeah, I get it, I get it. But I think I completely agree
- 44:43with you that they can they, they do get overplayed in the
- 44:46fact that they play them at every show. 5 colours you can't
- 44:50get rid of because it is their biggest song of all time.
- 44:52And there's I mean you, I know you would, but like, I don't
- 44:55think it would work. I don't.
- 44:57Yeah, it's like when I see Paramore.
- 45:00Misery Business is not one of my favourite songs.
- 45:01Do what? Would I be absolutely
- 45:03traumatised if I did not see that line?
- 45:05If I saw them? Yeah, I were.
- 45:06You'd be like, where? When are they doing misery
- 45:08business? I'd be like, I will be still
- 45:10stood there when the lights are up and everyone's left and the
- 45:12cleaners are on the floor and I'm like, I'm just waiting for
- 45:14mystery business. Misery.
- 45:15I'm just doing it on my own. That's fine.
- 45:17Yeah, yeah, I get that. I don't know whether I could
- 45:21deal with never hearing the Rif the got to keep my feet on the
- 45:26ground. I don't think I would.
- 45:28I just came with never hearing that again.
- 45:32I will be happy if I didn't hear room on the 3rd floor.
- 45:34Shine a light and all about you, all about you.
- 45:37Yeah, I can live with All About You.
- 45:39Did you know what I really like The All About your moments is
- 45:41when you put your arm around your best mate and you've got
- 45:43your light up in the air and like.
- 45:46Yeah, I like that the 1st 20 times.
- 45:49Yeah, yeah. True, Yeah.
- 45:51But also when the like hug the person next to you and I'm like
- 45:54fuck off you've probably got COVID.
- 45:57It's me, What are you talking about?
- 45:59The other side. You're not the other side of me.
- 46:04I'm like, look and I smile and then I'm like Nope.
- 46:07No, I know. But you know what it feels like
- 46:09when we hear the heart never lies like live.
- 46:13And we're like having our moment where we're just crying at each
- 46:16other because there's always the moment, isn't there?
- 46:18Where we're just like, I love you the same that we do with
- 46:22Taylor Swift and like, you know, whenever we hear, even when
- 46:25we're at like bloody Swift together and mine comes on,
- 46:28we're like, I love you so much. And then long lives playing
- 46:30around like at this. It's those moments that like you
- 46:33have as like friends that were. Like.
- 46:36Shine on the Light and like, yeah, exactly.
- 46:39All all like all about You and Shine a Light are very much
- 46:42those kind of songs that would like, do you know what I mean
- 46:45Like. Don't need three of them and I'm
- 46:49not going to. Never lies.
- 46:51Yeah, no, no. Oh my God, no, absolutely not.
- 46:54That's never leaving. I could probably.
- 46:56I could. Out of all those, all three of
- 46:58those, I would definitely be OK with the removal of All About
- 47:02You. I could live with room on the
- 47:043rd floor being gone. If I had to choose one to stay,
- 47:08I would choose to shine a light because it's just such good
- 47:10memes for me. I had my little Tom moment with
- 47:13shining Light, didn't I? I'm like busted and I don't
- 47:14think I will ever not love that song because of that.
- 47:17Get it? I was proper nervous for saying
- 47:20this and now I'm like dirty skanky face like get it on.
- 47:24Get it up. Get it off my set.
- 47:28I'm so sad. I'm sad.
- 47:29I want my surprise song for it to not be played.
- 47:32I would. I would be more than happy for a
- 47:38Error's tour McFly version. Like 3 hours, 3 1/2 hours.
- 47:45As many McFly songs as we can get.
- 47:47Like I would be so happy with that.
- 47:49Maybe we need to do an that was like.
- 47:50The. McFly version list of what songs
- 47:53we would choose maybe on the next episode because I would be
- 47:55so here for that. That is a brilliant idea. 3 1/2
- 47:59hours of McFly. Can you?
- 48:00I'm not, I'm not saying I don't like Shine a Shine a Light, by
- 48:03the way. I think it's a good song.
- 48:05I just think if it wasn't on live, if it wasn't on the set
- 48:13list, I wouldn't miss it. You wouldn't be that bothered.
- 48:17I wouldn't be like, where was shine a light?
- 48:19Yeah. Oh my God, They didn't play it.
- 48:22Yeah, I get you. OK, I'm going to go for my next
- 48:26unpopular opinion. And I've purposely blanked out
- 48:28the song so that you didn't know what it was.
- 48:30And I want you to hear me out because I'm talking about I feel
- 48:35very differently about this song now, but I didn't for a very
- 48:38long time. There is one song that I
- 48:42literally never liked Slash listen to until this year.
- 48:47I just didn't get it. I thought it was a bit weird.
- 48:50That song was Transylvania. Fuck off.
- 48:56Are you joking? I love it now.
- 49:00That music video, I love it now. Think that's what it did.
- 49:04That's what did it for me. It the music video made it like
- 49:08good, not good, but like it's a good song, but like I just never
- 49:11got it when like I don't know, I just never got it.
- 49:16When that song came out, my Dougie, my little doggy heart
- 49:19was like. Yeah, and I think that's because
- 49:22I was never a Dougie girl. Like I never was even remotely
- 49:25bothered about Dougie. I was like all Tom and nothing
- 49:28else. Now I have so much love for
- 49:30every single one of them individually that I can
- 49:32appreciate all of them. But that's I just I used to I
- 49:36used to genuinely bit start and I'm like, oh, fuck that.
- 49:40I genuinely. Really.
- 49:44You are so fucking weird mate. I know I'm so.
- 49:48Fine, I know. I mean, I feel very different.
- 49:51Like I said, I feel very differently about it now.
- 49:53I think maybe when it was like, it might have been after like
- 49:56the Eden Project gig that we went to, they played it there
- 50:01and it was very, very good. And I like seeing it live and
- 50:04like, I don't know, I think maybe that made me want to go
- 50:08and listen to it a bit more. And then it would come on and
- 50:10it'd be like, oh, OK, I'll listen to it this time.
- 50:13And now I'm in the in the car and, you know, just singing it
- 50:16all. And I know I thought you would
- 50:18be, that's why I blanked it out. I thought you, she's like, I
- 50:21thought you were thinking it was going to be ballad of poke.
- 50:24Well, we want to 10 out of 10, so I don't have to.
- 50:26Think I actually feel worse about that, but you know, it's
- 50:28fine. I didn't listen to that until.
- 50:33This was in this room right now. She would be on my side.
- 50:36Who? I need my backup Violet.
- 50:40Violet, where you at? I'm.
- 50:43Sorry, I need my backup. I've got her address, we can go.
- 50:47Yeah, I'm sorry. I'm sorry.
- 50:51I mean, I'm, you know, I'm obviously here for it now, but
- 50:54whatever. OK.
- 50:56Your last one. Oh, the dog's barking.
- 50:57Sorry. 2 seconds. Blue.
- 50:58Why is he barking? Sorry.
- 51:03Give me two seconds. That's OK.
- 51:05Come here. The dog disagrees.
- 51:13The dog does disagree. The dog thinks Transylvania is
- 51:1510 out of 10 and I have to agree with Baloo.
- 51:18He's literally like, what do you mean mum?
- 51:22What do you mean? OK, sorry, I'm just going to
- 51:26have a. Quick, my last unpopular opinion
- 51:28is a little bit like, I mean it's a bit political, but I
- 51:31don't mean for it to be. We're a light hearted broadcast,
- 51:34but I just have a very strong opinion about this particular
- 51:38subject. I really hate it when fans over
- 51:46sexualize the boys. I I don't mean like is fit or
- 51:51like, I don't know, like I'd lick him like, I don't mean like
- 51:57those like, do you know what I. Mean like those little comments?
- 51:59Yeah. Yeah, absolutely.
- 52:00Yeah, I'd do do ourselves. So it's not condoning.
- 52:02I just like when they like overdo it when they're like I
- 52:06don't I don't even know how to explain it.
- 52:07I just, I just think that if the genders were reversed and a man
- 52:13are saying it about a woman or if like a male fan base was
- 52:17drooling over Dua Lipa or like some women, it would have a
- 52:23really negative connotations. It would be a bad thing.
- 52:26And all us women would be like, you can't sexualize her.
- 52:31Also, I don't think McFly and Busted fans, like, get like
- 52:36looked badly upon for things like waiting outside their
- 52:39hotel. And like, a lot of people do
- 52:41that. And like, no, you know, no
- 52:43qualms with that at all. Like, you do you, Like, if you
- 52:45think what you're doing is OK, I don't think it's wrong to do
- 52:49that. And like, I'm not saying if I
- 52:50saw them in the street that I wouldn't be going over and
- 52:52saying hey and asking for a photo because I most absolutely
- 52:55would be. Yeah, like, absolutely.
- 52:57Like had a dream about you. Thank you very much.
- 53:00But like if like I wonder why it's OK for us to do it as a
- 53:04fandom, but it's not OK for what are the fandoms to do it?
- 53:08If it, like you said, if it was men waiting outside Dua Lipa's
- 53:11hotel or Taylor Swift's hotel and not like paparazzi, like
- 53:15just fans, how would that be looked upon?
- 53:18Do you know what I mean? I just feel like, I feel like as
- 53:21a fandom. And that's exactly what we.
- 53:23Get away with a lot more. Yeah, we get away with a lot
- 53:25more. I think it's, and like I say I
- 53:31I'll admit much as the next pass, they're very, very
- 53:34attractive. Boy band, band, band, band, both
- 53:37of them, they're very, very, very much delicious boys.
- 53:40Yeah, but I just think it's not the thinking they're attractive,
- 53:48it's over sexualizing and I think that's the difference.
- 53:52And like, you know, free speech and, and all of that.
- 53:55And I know that people are more than, you know, entitled to have
- 53:59their opinions and to say what they want about people.
- 54:02But like I said, like you said as well, like it's looking at
- 54:05it, if it was gender reversed, it would be a bit strange.
- 54:10Like, yeah, it really it just just don't get weird.
- 54:13Yeah, just don't get weird. Just keep it.
- 54:16Just don't get weird. Yeah, Voice your attraction, but
- 54:18keep it legit. Like we all make comments.
- 54:21Oh, my God, I've made so many comments about licking Tom's
- 54:24face. Do you know what I mean?
- 54:24Like I'm having dreams about the man.
- 54:26It's OK. It's fine.
- 54:27The thoughts, the things that you say to me are very
- 54:30different. Somerhalder are very different
- 54:33to what you would put on Facebook.
- 54:36Or what I would say to his face, yes.
- 54:39And like, I feel like if you would say that to his face, then
- 54:42go for it. If you would stand in front of
- 54:44you know, Tom Fletcher or Dougie or Danny or whatever and and say
- 54:48that you want his penis in your mouth, then absolutely that's
- 54:51fine. You do you, babe, but.
- 54:53If you want to say to the face, yeah.
- 54:54Yeah, yeah. If you wouldn't say it to him, I
- 54:57think keep it for your bestie. It's time for Song of the Week.
- 55:05And this week we're talking. I'll be OK.
- 55:08The song that launched the Wonderland era and announced to
- 55:11the world that McFly weren't just the boys that sang 5
- 55:13colours in her hair anymore. No, they were not.
- 55:16I'll Be OK became Mcfly's fourth UK number one single.
- 55:21At that point, the boys were barely old enough to drink and
- 55:24they were already like, banging out number ones like it was
- 55:27nobody's business. I was drunk in a field.
- 55:31Told my mum I was staying my friend's house.
- 55:33I was drunk in a field I drank 3 litres of.
- 55:35Strand there on there. Passed out on the trampoline.
- 55:37Number one. They've got #1 mental because
- 55:41they were literally like 1819, weren't they at this point?
- 55:44So crazy, crazy things. The song.
- 55:48This is a new fact that we found out today.
- 55:50The song was actually created by Compart combining 2 separate
- 55:55song ideas. So Danny had one vision for this
- 55:58song and Tom had another, and they actually merged their
- 56:02favourite bits of both versions together and somehow created one
- 56:05of the defining songs of the Wonderland era.
- 56:08How amazing is that? That's actually bonkers, isn't
- 56:11it? If you think if you like deep
- 56:13that that's actually bonkers. It's so cool because I think
- 56:16like, you know, when you work creatively with someone, we do
- 56:18it like obviously we're doing something behind the scenes at
- 56:22the moment which isn't McFly related, but we have to work a
- 56:25lot together and bounce off each other's ideas for our project.
- 56:28And we know that actually one person can have a vision of
- 56:32something and really love it, but get a little bit stuck and
- 56:36then the other person comes in and they're like, why don't we
- 56:37do this? And then it just becomes
- 56:39something completely different and it's like, holy shit, that's
- 56:41amazing. So like.
- 56:43That. And that is how it works for us
- 56:44as well, isn't it? It's like a lot of the time
- 56:47there's an idea and then one of us would pop it in, pop
- 56:49something in, and then it turns into something else and then the
- 56:51other person will say something else.
- 56:53And then and that's just how like we're on a FaceTime that's
- 56:57supposed to last 15 minutes and it's 2 hours down the line, 2
- 57:00hours long. We're just bouncing off each
- 57:02other. I need to go to bed at 10:00.
- 57:05We've been doing this for ages. Yeah, absolutely.
- 57:07I think that's so cool and I love that because we know that
- 57:10obviously McFly have written with James Bond as well, and I
- 57:14think we find out a little bit something about Charlie as well
- 57:17in a minute. But we know that they and that
- 57:20Tom did a lot of writing for Busted.
- 57:22And I think it's really nice that like they're even in their
- 57:24band. They don't sort of just sit
- 57:26together and write songs all the time that they can go off and
- 57:29have their creative freedom moments and like bring bits in
- 57:32of what they want the song to sound like and what they're, you
- 57:35know, because we know like when you think about like All About
- 57:37You, obviously we most people know the story behind Tom's
- 57:41writing All About You very quickly for Valentine's or
- 57:44anniversary present or whatever it was for Giovanna and how it
- 57:47ended up becoming one of the biggest songs that the band had
- 57:49ever band had ever written. Like it's nice to know that
- 57:53they've got songs that they work a little bit on their own and
- 57:55then bring together as well as songs they write entirely on
- 57:57their own or songs that they write entirely together.
- 58:00I think it's really nice and it just shows that they're like
- 58:02companionship and their bandmanship is so important to
- 58:05them as writers too. And I just think that's awesome.
- 58:08Tom described this song as having a positive message about
- 58:10reassuring yourself that things will get better even when life
- 58:13goes wrong. And honestly, that's probably
- 58:15why the song has aged so well, because everybody has needed an
- 58:19I'll Be OK kind of song at some point in their life.
- 58:22Absolutely. I know.
- 58:23I've definitely listened to this one.
- 58:24I've been feeling absolutely miserable.
- 58:27Yeah, because it, the title is literally what it says on the
- 58:30tin. Do you know what I mean?
- 58:32You're like, I feel shit. I need something that's going to
- 58:35make me feel better. Oh, I'll be OK.
- 58:36Let's put that on. There's been times where I've
- 58:40listened to the song where I really have not been OK and it's
- 58:45not made me better, but it's helped me feel, you know.
- 58:48It's lifted you up a little bit. Yeah, exactly.
- 58:51Yeah. Yeah.
- 58:52And I think the lyrics themselves, obviously, we'll
- 58:55talk about those a little bit more in a minute.
- 58:57But like they, like we said before, they do very much feel
- 59:00like emotional and quite like heartfelt and sad, but uplifting
- 59:07at the same time. It's quite a like I said, it's
- 59:11like a cast and dance kind of song, isn't it?
- 59:12You know, it's not miserable and dreary.
- 59:15It's a really uplifting song. The single release included No
- 59:22Worries as AB side Song, which was also didn't Know This,
- 59:26written alongside Busted legends James and Charlie.
- 59:30Who knew? I love, no worries.
- 59:33Such a good song, but I didn't know that they were included in
- 59:36the writing process. No I didn't, no worries, is one
- 59:40of my like one of my favourite B sides of all time.
- 59:44Nice, love that. Can you remember AB side when
- 59:47you take the CD out and flip it over and then put it back in the
- 59:50CD player? Brittany.
- 59:52Brittany. Mental like how we actually used
- 59:55to take like physically turn the CD over and put it back in the
- 59:58player and press play just so. So weird.
- 1:00:02Oh naughties memes, I can't wait.
- 1:00:04Until we discuss, no worries, it's so good.
- 1:00:07Yeah, I mean, there are so many songs I'm very, very excited
- 1:00:09for. So excited, yes, absolutely.
- 1:00:13But yeah, I mean, this song in itself is, for me, one of the
- 1:00:20best songs of the album. And it's number track #1 so we
- 1:00:22started on a high. Do you know what I mean?
- 1:00:25I'm here for it. Do you, oh, should we read?
- 1:00:28There's one more fact, isn't there the band honour this too?
- 1:00:32Oh no, there's one. The band were inspired by The
- 1:00:34Who in this era of their career. Now this is something we we
- 1:00:37wanted to like really, really Fact Check.
- 1:00:39So we went on to sort of have a little do a bit of research
- 1:00:42about this. Earlier, McFly were absolutely
- 1:00:44listening to and covering a lot of classic rock around the
- 1:00:48Wonderland era in their performances, and The Who were
- 1:00:51definitely among the bands influencing them at the time.
- 1:00:55A pretty big clue is that they actually included a cover of
- 1:00:58Pinball Wizard as AB side on the I'll Be OK single release
- 1:01:02itself. I love Mcfly's pinball wizard.
- 1:01:07I can't remember it original. I can't remember.
- 1:01:10That Oh my goodness, you, Taylor.
- 1:01:12I'm going to have to go find it. When you listen to it.
- 1:01:14Absolutely be the first thing I do when I when we finish.
- 1:01:17It is so genuinely you will love Tom's vocals in it.
- 1:01:22And if that's not enough to sell it to you?
- 1:01:24Duh, that isn't a song. I don't enjoy Tom's vocals.
- 1:01:28Shannon, do we need to really need to discuss this?
- 1:01:32Honestly, it's. Love.
- 1:01:34It like it's brilliant. It's better than the original.
- 1:01:38Yeah, I'm here for it. OK, so look at the lyrics for a
- 1:01:41moment, shall we? The first, yeah, the first is
- 1:01:45that the first and second verse are, again, they're quite sad.
- 1:01:49The first verse is very relatable I think to a lot of
- 1:01:52people. I really like the I know the
- 1:01:56head the skies are clear but it still seems to rain on you and
- 1:02:00your only friends all have better things to do.
- 1:02:03So sad because like that line it in itself.
- 1:02:06Like is it? Hits me even now.
- 1:02:09I know I can say Shannon's crying.
- 1:02:13Like I. It's so.
- 1:02:15Sad. I genuinely like, I know it
- 1:02:18sounds really stupid because actually it's quite an uplifting
- 1:02:20song, but this song got me through some really tough times
- 1:02:25when I was younger, when I was like in school and I was having
- 1:02:30a really tough time and I was, I don't know, just struggling
- 1:02:34because I was an angsty emo teenager.
- 1:02:38This song genuinely meant everything to me.
- 1:02:43Yeah, 100%. I completely agree.
- 1:02:45And I know that it's the it's. The Because for so long now
- 1:02:48you've forgotten how to smile like that line.
- 1:02:53It's the last. Your only friends will have
- 1:02:54better things to do. That line has made as as
- 1:02:58affected me as a young person, as a teenager and like going
- 1:03:02through all of that, but it's also affected me as an adult and
- 1:03:04as a first time mum and I think that.
- 1:03:07I was just about to say, doesn't this song feel very different
- 1:03:10but also almost equally as hot? Like gut wrenching as an adult,
- 1:03:15a mum. Yeah, Oh my God.
- 1:03:17But I've, I've listened to this song probably more now than like
- 1:03:20as like in the last two years than I did when I was younger
- 1:03:25because I've like really. Tough to listen to as a mum.
- 1:03:28I think I think as well, like, people don't often and like a
- 1:03:32lot of Mcfly's fans are young as well and like perhaps haven't
- 1:03:37got to that stage of life where they've had children or
- 1:03:39whatever. So like, yeah, but obviously
- 1:03:41there are a lot of us that have. And I think the McFly fandom,
- 1:03:45most of them are wonderful and we have a shared love of so
- 1:03:51much. When you meet fans at gigs and
- 1:03:54you meet, you know, other people that love them as much as you
- 1:03:57do, the majority of people you just get on so well with.
- 1:04:00And it's such a lovely community that like, and you know that all
- 1:04:04of those people have most of the time felt the same things that
- 1:04:07you have when you when they hear songs like this, because we're
- 1:04:11all a lot of us have been the down and out kids.
- 1:04:14So we have been the kids, the loser kids that, you know,
- 1:04:16Busted would say like we've been the kids that perhaps weren't
- 1:04:20treated well at school or were bullied.
- 1:04:22And I know that like a couple of people that are watching this on
- 1:04:24TikTok live have commented saying the same thing.
- 1:04:27Like we've all been through a lot.
- 1:04:29And I think when you grow up and you you go through stages of
- 1:04:32life where again you change completely, like going from like
- 1:04:37A to like 1213 year old to like a 1516 year old is 3 years.
- 1:04:41But it is a huge time in your life where everything changes.
- 1:04:45Like everything, yes, hormones and puberty and all of that.
- 1:04:49But like relationships and the things you have, the
- 1:04:51relationship you have, your friends, relationship you have
- 1:04:54with other people, the relationship you have with your
- 1:04:56family, like everything is heightened.
- 1:04:59But that happens all over again when you become a mum.
- 1:05:02Like literally like it's like, it's like goes all the way back.
- 1:05:05Like your friendships change because your life is completely
- 1:05:08different now. And the friends that you had
- 1:05:09before that want to go out and go for beers and go to the beach
- 1:05:13whenever they want, or go out, you know, go to a festival.
- 1:05:15And you can anymore. You can't just drop stuff to do
- 1:05:18that anymore. So they can do that with other
- 1:05:19people now. And it's like, oh, OK, well, you
- 1:05:22know, I'd still love to do those things, but I can't because I
- 1:05:25have a child and, and that feels, you feel that hit you.
- 1:05:28And then you have the friends that have stuck there all along
- 1:05:31that have had kids before. You like us.
- 1:05:34I don't think I realised how hard being a mum was for you at
- 1:05:38the younger age because you had your first daughter seven years
- 1:05:41ago. And my daughters do.
- 1:05:44Eight years ago. Eight years ago now, nearly.
- 1:05:46Yeah, exactly like that. That's a math.
- 1:05:49Like, I didn't realise 8 years ago how hard that was for you.
- 1:05:52I just thought, oh, she said baby, how lovely.
- 1:05:55Like because we've always. Because everyone visits you in
- 1:05:57the first 3 weeks. Yeah, everybody's like, oh,
- 1:05:59baby, a baby. Yeah.
- 1:06:00And then they're like, and. And when you have your second
- 1:06:02child, which we've talked about before, nobody cares about the
- 1:06:05second child because you've already done it.
- 1:06:07To visit the second child. Exactly, Yeah.
- 1:06:08Do you know what I mean? So anyway, moving on from being
- 1:06:11a mum and listening to this song, I think there are stages
- 1:06:14of life that you can listen to, listen to this and it be very
- 1:06:18representable of the time that you're going through.
- 1:06:20Does that make sense? Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:06:25The the chorus is great, it's uplifting, and it's very.
- 1:06:30Just tell yourself I'll be OK like you can't the.
- 1:06:34Bridge. Be happy.
- 1:06:36Yeah, you're not alone. Somebody mentioned, I think it
- 1:06:41was Ben on our TikTok, Dougie during the You're Not alone bit
- 1:06:45when it's sung live is very cool Dougies.
- 1:06:48And like they do it in like a bit of a round, don't they?
- 1:06:51You're not. Alone, yeah.
- 1:06:56Like it's so lush. It's like they build it all the
- 1:06:59way up and it's just so lovely. I'm so here for Dougie's vocals
- 1:07:04on this as well. Absolutely.
- 1:07:07And yeah, I mean, it's not like really lyrically, it's a pretty
- 1:07:12simple song. It's got 2 verses, 2 courses and
- 1:07:14a bridge. And the bridge is, there's only
- 1:07:16three words, just repeat it. But it's really effective.
- 1:07:21What do you want to write this? 10.
- 1:07:27Yes, we're starting the album. I'm telling you this album is 8
- 1:07:32nines 10s. Yes, I'm so here for that
- 1:07:35chance. So here for it, because we
- 1:07:37started off the other album with a four.
- 1:07:40So I'm very happy that we. I put it down to a three as
- 1:07:43well. I think you might have Yeah, I'm
- 1:07:46also rating this a 10, 10 out of 10.
- 1:07:49It's. Just there are literally no
- 1:07:51notes. No notes, no notes still.
- 1:07:53And we talked about the music video, which is a bit strange.
- 1:07:57It's like they're in a hotel and they're like on a on a rooftop.
- 1:08:00And I remember one bit where Harry sat in front of loads of
- 1:08:04buckets of water and the ceilings like dripping and
- 1:08:08Danny's connecting a hose pipe to a sink.
- 1:08:12It's very weird. It's very strange.
- 1:08:15I don't really know what's going on with it, but I'm here for it.
- 1:08:18It's fine. It's all good.
- 1:08:19If you haven't seen the music video, go and watch it right
- 1:08:23now. Yeah, yeah, yeah, definitely.
- 1:08:26I like the. I used to love the Wonderland
- 1:08:33aesthetic that the boys had. Oh yeah, it was definitely like
- 1:08:37a gloomy Alice in Wonderland version.
- 1:08:41But like everything was like slightly brown and slightly like
- 1:08:46tinges of red sepia, the philtre everything was just slightly.
- 1:08:52They filmed it in like the 1920s but in modern day clothing.
- 1:08:56Yeah, yeah, doggies, little hedgehog, brown hedgehog hair
- 1:09:01and Danny's slick fringe. And I swear Tom's hair got
- 1:09:06slightly darker in the Wonderland era.
- 1:09:08Oh he had like in the room on the 1st floor is very blonde.
- 1:09:11Yeah, he had like the blonde and then the dark at the roots
- 1:09:14almost, didn't he? Yeah, I.
- 1:09:16Mean Dougie Dougie's hedgehog hairstyle was definitely
- 1:09:19interesting. When did we start to see Danny's
- 1:09:22curly hair? Wasn't.
- 1:09:23It ever hear a bad word said about it?
- 1:09:25I think Danny's curly hair started in this era when he
- 1:09:28started doing live performances with his curly hair.
- 1:09:30Can you? Remember, I think I was motion
- 1:09:32in the ocean. Was it?
- 1:09:35I feel like I remember are. We talking Danny your your
- 1:09:39earphones are cutting. Out, Danny.
- 1:09:41Yeah, I'm talking. Danny.
- 1:09:42Danny is motion in the ocean. Yeah, I've.
- 1:09:44I can just see him singing this song with curly hair, but it
- 1:09:47probably was after the release. Yeah, I mean, I'm here for it.
- 1:09:51Absolutely here for it. The the hairstyles section is
- 1:09:54going to have to be something that we start on TikTok very
- 1:09:57soon because we need to talk about these hairstyles.
- 1:10:01And just like that, we've reached the end of another
- 1:10:03episode. Thank you so much for hanging
- 1:10:05out with us and officially beginning the Wonderland era.
- 1:10:09Next week we're jumping back over to Busted and we are
- 1:10:11starting a present for everyone with Track 1 Air Hostess.
- 1:10:16And we've got special guest Ben Scott on with us too.
- 1:10:18A huge Busted fan and a recently converted McFly fan too.
- 1:10:23And until then, make sure you're following us on TikTok and
- 1:10:26Instagram at Galaxy Crashes Podcast, where you can join us
- 1:10:30live while we record episodes and argue about McFly rankings
- 1:10:33in real time. Oh yeah, but for now, keep your
- 1:10:36playlist loud. And happiness in your hearts.
- 1:10:39Goodbye. Goodbye.
