- 0:00Speaker 1: Football 4 powered by the Inside the Birds podcast, which
- 0:03Speaker 1: you can get on all podcasting platforms. We got preseason
- 0:07Speaker 1: football tomorrow night. It's the final one before the real
- 0:09Speaker 1: thing happens. We got one more test run. Football 4
- 0:14Speaker 1: powered by the Inside the Birds podcast is brought to
- 0:17Speaker 1: you by Fanatic Sportsbook at Ocean Casino Resort in Atlantic City.
- 0:21Speaker 1: We're back there every Monday. And, of course, Andrew DiCicco's
- 0:24Speaker 1: here every Thursday. We've got a lot to dive into.
- 0:27Speaker 1: Two preseason games down, one joint practice, and now a
- 0:32Speaker 1: final preseason. Let's take a look at Andrew's overview of
- 0:36Speaker 1: what we've seen as training camp has come to a
- 0:40Speaker 1: close for 2026. Andrew, what's up, my man?
- 0:45Speaker 2: Hey, Mike, doing well.
- 0:46Speaker 1: Good to be with you. Yeah, man, it's been a
- 0:47Speaker 1: little while. Missed you the last couple of weeks, but
- 0:49Speaker 1: that means we're getting closer to the season and a
- 0:53Speaker 1: lot of stuff happening. Obviously, camp comes to a close here.
- 0:59Speaker 1: Tomorrow night will be the last preseason tilt. Give me
- 1:03Speaker 1: a couple of guys, as a lot of people always say, hey,
- 1:05Speaker 1: I want to hear the guys Andrew's looking at. Who
- 1:07Speaker 1: are some guys you're keeping an eye on for tomorrow
- 1:10Speaker 1: that this game might be important for?
- 1:14Speaker 2: Offensive lineman Jake Majors, he's cross-trained at center and guard. Well,
- 1:19Speaker 2: he's a center by trade out of the University of Texas.
- 1:21Speaker 2: He was on the Eagles practice squad all last season.
- 1:24Speaker 2: I think he's really made some strides, Mike, in training camp.
- 1:27Speaker 2: Tough player, set a Texas record with 56 starts, and
- 1:32Speaker 2: that says a lot. But I think he's done a
- 1:34Speaker 2: nice job at guard as well. Now, the reason why
- 1:36Speaker 2: you need to keep an eye on him is because
- 1:38Speaker 2: there's some questions as to how that number 10th that
- 1:42Speaker 2: number 10 offensive line spot might shake out. You have
- 1:45Speaker 2: Michael Morris, the draft pick. You have Jake Majors. You
- 1:48Speaker 2: have John Ajuku, who's done some good things in training
- 1:51Speaker 2: camp as well. But I think that Majors has done
- 1:55Speaker 2: a nice job over the last two weeks, and we'll
- 1:57Speaker 2: see what he's able to do in the finale. I
- 2:00Speaker 2: would also say on the defensive side, Kapina Gushikin is
- 2:03Speaker 2: an undrafted free agent. Everyone talks about Maximus Pulley, but
- 2:06Speaker 2: in my view, I think Gushikin, having watched him for
- 2:09Speaker 2: 17 practices now, has been the more impressive player. Now, both,
- 2:14Speaker 2: to be clear, are not, I don't want to say
- 2:16Speaker 2: long shots, but it's unlikely, given the way that the
- 2:19Speaker 2: roster is shaping up. But I think Gushikin, because he
- 2:22Speaker 2: can play nickelback and safety, and he's been working in
- 2:26Speaker 2: a little bit more over the last week or so.
- 2:28Speaker 2: He's an interesting player, if for no other reason than
- 2:31Speaker 2: maybe a practice squad slot and maybe elevate him at
- 2:34Speaker 2: some point on game day. And then I'm going to
- 2:38Speaker 2: look at Cameron Latu, the tight end fullback. I've been
- 2:42Speaker 2: on Cameron Latu since last summer when Jihad Campbell was
- 2:46Speaker 2: just a heat-seeking missile coming downhill. All the tight ends
- 2:50Speaker 2: struggled to contain him, Mike, but not Cameron Latu. There
- 2:54Speaker 2: was a couple of plays in one practice where he
- 2:56Speaker 2: stonewalled him. I wrote down number 87 in my notes,
- 3:00Speaker 2: and I kept an eye on him throughout the rest
- 3:02Speaker 2: of the preseason, made some plays on special teams. I
- 3:04Speaker 2: think he is just a tenacious player, a really physical blocker,
- 3:09Speaker 2: and to this day I'm puzzled how the Eagles didn't
- 3:12Speaker 2: use him more last season, but I think he's an
- 3:14Speaker 2: interesting player as they start to whittle the roster down
- 3:17Speaker 2: to 53.
- 3:19Speaker 1: Andrew, what does that mean for Eli Stowers? We have
- 3:21Speaker 1: not been hearing very good things about him so far.
- 3:24Speaker 1: Do you have the same takeaways from his camp, the
- 3:26Speaker 1: second-round pick? Do you see very little impact so far
- 3:31Speaker 1: and moving into the season?
- 3:34Speaker 2: Well, it's been underwhelming, to be clear, but I also
- 3:37Speaker 2: like to reemphasize that progress is not linear. Everybody progresses
- 3:41Speaker 2: at different rates. Now, when the Eagles drafted Eli Stowers,
- 3:45Speaker 2: it should have been widely expected that he was a
- 3:47Speaker 2: developmental prospect, and sometimes those things take time. And I
- 3:50Speaker 2: think Sean Mannion, the Eagles offensive coordinator, outlined it well.
- 3:55Speaker 2: Everyone thinks that you can just bug and play, and
- 3:57Speaker 2: there's not going to be growing pains, but he has
- 4:02Speaker 2: a lot of possibilities. be a tight end at this level.
- 4:04Speaker 2: You have the blocking component, the receiving component, the alignment,
- 4:07Speaker 2: and all these different things that he's being asked to
- 4:09Speaker 2: do that is going to be foreign to him relative
- 4:12Speaker 2: to what he's accustomed to at Vanderbilt. So it's going
- 4:14Speaker 2: to take some time. Now, that's not to say that
- 4:17Speaker 2: the tight end position isn't a big question mark because
- 4:19Speaker 2: I do have quite a few questions. But in terms
- 4:22Speaker 2: of Eli Stowers, just relax a little bit. That would
- 4:26Speaker 2: be my cautionary message out there because it seems like
- 4:30Speaker 2: there's a lot of angst about him. And I think
- 4:33Speaker 2: young players deserve an opportunity to grow and develop and
- 4:35Speaker 2: the Eagles prioritize player development. And this is going to
- 4:39Speaker 2: be a tall task here for Ryan Mahaffey, the new
- 4:42Speaker 2: tight ends coach, because Jason Michael has had an extensive
- 4:45Speaker 2: track record of doing so. And they're going to have to,
- 4:47Speaker 2: they deserve the benefit of the doubt.
- 4:49Speaker 1: Andrew, our poll question today has to do with the
- 4:52Speaker 1: receivers outside of Devante Smith, which guy do you think
- 4:57Speaker 1: will have the biggest impact of the other group of receivers?
- 5:02Speaker 2: Don Fabian Wicks. I really like what I've seen from
- 5:05Speaker 2: him in training camp from the beginning of camp to
- 5:07Speaker 2: the end. You could see the rapport between Wicks and
- 5:10Speaker 2: Jalen Hurts really budding throughout the summer. Now, he's not
- 5:14Speaker 2: someone that's going to take the top off of the defense.
- 5:16Speaker 2: He's really effective in the short to intermediate levels of
- 5:19Speaker 2: the field, a really good separator at the top of
- 5:21Speaker 2: his routes. And I haven't seen him drop many passes,
- 5:24Speaker 2: if any, in training camp to my recollection. which is
- 5:27Speaker 2: something that has been sort of a mark on him.
- 5:30Speaker 2: He has struggled with drops in his career, but I
- 5:33Speaker 2: think he's really establishing that trust with Hurts, and he's
- 5:36Speaker 2: going to be someone who I think will see a
- 5:38Speaker 2: decent amount of volume. He's a big question mark, understandably,
- 5:41Speaker 2: because he's never exceeded more than 39 receptions in a season,
- 5:45Speaker 2: never had more than 74 or 75 targets in a
- 5:47Speaker 2: given year. But from what I've seen this season, this
- 5:51Speaker 2: training camp, I think he's going to be someone that
- 5:53Speaker 2: can be dependent upon, and he's going to be an
- 5:55Speaker 2: effective chain mover for them.
- 5:57Speaker 1: You've seen Lemon for a couple days now. I know
- 5:59Speaker 1: he missed a lot of time. Are you hopeful that
- 6:01Speaker 1: he can have some sort of impact in this offense?
- 6:06Speaker 2: Well, it's been pretty clear, going back to the public practice, Mike,
- 6:09Speaker 2: that the Eagles are going to find a way to
- 6:11Speaker 2: get the ball into the hands of Makai Lemon, whether
- 6:14Speaker 2: that's manufactured touches or intermediate throws that really accentuate what
- 6:18Speaker 2: he can do as a route runner. And I would
- 6:21Speaker 2: also temper expectations because there's going to be growing pains here.
- 6:25Speaker 2: He missed a lot of time this summer. That shouldn't
- 6:28Speaker 2: generate any angst. He's back on the practice field. He
- 6:31Speaker 2: was working after practice on the final training camp day
- 6:34Speaker 2: with Sean Mannion. So he's really taken, you know, he
- 6:38Speaker 2: mentioned the other day about being more professional. And there's
- 6:41Speaker 2: a lot of ways you can interpret that. I have
- 6:43Speaker 2: to think that it has a lot to do with
- 6:44Speaker 2: just how to approach an injury, the recovery process and
- 6:49Speaker 2: things like that. But he is someone that I think
- 6:53Speaker 2: don't have to necessarily squint to see him being able
- 6:55Speaker 2: to make an early impact. And I would just temper
- 6:58Speaker 2: expectation because there are players who are further ahead of
- 7:00Speaker 2: him in terms of knowledge of this offense. But he's
- 7:03Speaker 2: a first-round pick. They're going to find a way to get.
- 7:06Speaker 2: And another area to keep an eye on would be
- 7:08Speaker 2: Makai Lemon potentially as a punt returner. He's worked there
- 7:11Speaker 2: when he has been on the practice field. He was
- 7:13Speaker 2: one of the four players repping their final day of
- 7:16Speaker 2: practice along with Britton Covey, Cooper DeGene, and I believe
- 7:21Speaker 2: Quez Watkins. So of those players, I mean, Cooper DeGene's
- 7:24Speaker 2: not going to do it. Quez Watkins and Britton Covey
- 7:27Speaker 2: in all likelihood aren't going to be on the roster.
- 7:29Speaker 2: And so I think LaKai Lemon has a good bet
- 7:32Speaker 2: to at least see that. And I would like to
- 7:34Speaker 2: see him get a couple reps if he does, in fact,
- 7:37Speaker 2: play on Friday.
- 7:38Speaker 1: Yeah, and obviously a lot of expectations for Lemon, and
- 7:41Speaker 1: they've got Hollywood Brown here. What about Darius Cooper? Is
- 7:43Speaker 1: he a guy, too, that could, you know? I ask
- 7:46Speaker 1: the question because I'm looking at the Green Bay offense
- 7:48Speaker 1: the last couple of years, and they've just had like
- 7:51Speaker 1: four or five guys One guy has 700 yards. Another
- 7:54Speaker 1: guy has 600. I would imagine Devontae Smith is probably
- 7:58Speaker 1: the main guy, but is there enough in this offense
- 8:01Speaker 1: for three, four wide receivers? That typically has not been
- 8:06Speaker 1: the case here.
- 8:08Speaker 2: Right, and it's important to remember that they're going to,
- 8:10Speaker 2: in all likelihood, spread the football around in this West
- 8:13Speaker 2: Coast offense, and it is a true West Coast offense.
- 8:15Speaker 2: But it's going to run through Devontae Smith, Dallas Goddard,
- 8:18Speaker 2: Saquon Barkley, I believe, is going to have a larger
- 8:20Speaker 2: role in the passing game. You have Dontavion Wick, and
- 8:24Speaker 2: you have Mekhi Lemon. I always like to temper expectations
- 8:30Speaker 2: there with Darius Cooper. What we saw this summer is real.
- 8:33Speaker 2: He's a big-time... contributor in training camps, and he was
- 8:38Speaker 2: involved in the offense. But you also have to keep
- 8:40Speaker 2: in mind the offense that they're in, they're not a
- 8:42Speaker 2: pass-centric team. They are a low-volume passing attack, and it's
- 8:46Speaker 2: going to be all about the running game, Saquon Barkley
- 8:49Speaker 2: and the Eagles' offensive line, and the passing game, which
- 8:51Speaker 2: I mentioned, it's going to funnel through them first and foremost.
- 8:54Speaker 1: All right, Andrew, check our football for tomorrow night. The
- 8:57Speaker 1: Eagles take on the Bengals in the last preseason tilt there.
- 9:00Speaker 1: You mentioned some things. on the offensive side. Obviously, the
- 9:04Speaker 1: defense could be very, very good this year. I want
- 9:07Speaker 1: to get your thoughts on the last couple years. I
- 9:09Speaker 1: thought the question to Fangio yesterday when asked about Jalix Huntley,
- 9:13Speaker 1: how good could he be? Is this what you expected?
- 9:15Speaker 1: My question is more, are we ready to see Jalix
- 9:18Speaker 1: Hunt be the guy on this defense in terms of
- 9:22Speaker 1: pass rush?
- 9:24Speaker 2: You know, I think he's close. I think he just
- 9:27Speaker 2: might be there, Mike. What I've seen from Jay Luxon
- 9:30Speaker 2: is a player who went from 241 snaps as a rookie,
- 9:34Speaker 2: 693 last season where he led all Eagles pass rushers,
- 9:37Speaker 2: and snaps, sacks with six and a half, led the
- 9:41Speaker 2: team in interceptions and led the edge rushers in quarterback hits,
- 9:44Speaker 2: which I believe was 24. So every year he's taken, well,
- 9:47Speaker 2: the first two years, he's taken a big step forward
- 9:49Speaker 2: from year one to year two, and this summer there
- 9:51Speaker 2: hasn't been a day that's gone by where i haven't
- 9:53Speaker 2: written down number 58 and number 97 in my notes.
- 9:57Speaker 2: He has been an absolute force off the edge, but
- 10:01Speaker 2: he's also an effective two-way player now. He's filled out
- 10:03Speaker 2: his frame. And I say this a lot, but a
- 10:07Speaker 2: lot was made about his athleticism, and it was widely
- 10:09Speaker 2: expected that he was going to be a work in
- 10:11Speaker 2: progress and take a little bit of time to develop.
- 10:14Speaker 2: But I think the technical aspect of the game has
- 10:17Speaker 2: now caught up to the athleticism, and he's able to
- 10:20Speaker 2: play freely. He has a better idea of how to
- 10:22Speaker 2: combat tackles and counter moves and has a much deeper
- 10:26Speaker 2: arsenal of pass rush moves from which to choose from.
- 10:29Speaker 2: So I think he is ready to take that next
- 10:32Speaker 2: step this year. That's something that I actually asked Vic
- 10:34Speaker 2: Fangio about in the spring, and he pretty much said
- 10:37Speaker 2: he gave a great answer, but he pretty much said
- 10:40Speaker 2: he just needs to keep doing what he's doing. So
- 10:42Speaker 2: I think the sky's the limit for him, and I
- 10:44Speaker 2: think the Eagles are well-equipped to handle the the absence,
- 10:48Speaker 2: should there be an absence, of Jonathan Grenard from, you know,
- 10:52Speaker 2: in week one or whatever the case is with J.
- 10:54Speaker 2: Luke Hunt, but also Nolan Smith has quietly had a
- 10:56Speaker 2: nice training camp as well. He's healthy. He's extremely violent
- 11:00Speaker 2: and physical off the edge, and I think he's gotten
- 11:02Speaker 2: a lot of pressures, and he's also filled out his
- 11:04Speaker 2: frame a little bit more as well.
- 11:06Speaker 1: All right. You wrote about Ty Robinson over at InsideTheBirds.com,
- 11:10Speaker 1: and yesterday Vic Fangio was asked about him on a
- 11:13Speaker 1: couple different questions regarding him. This guy was a fourth-round pick,
- 11:16Speaker 1: and I think he's way down the depth chart here.
- 11:19Speaker 1: But one of the things that Fangio said, like, well,
- 11:21Speaker 1: you've got to do it against better players. You don't
- 11:23Speaker 1: get that opportunity. So no matter what Robinson does tomorrow night,
- 11:28Speaker 1: do you see him having any role on this team?
- 11:33Speaker 2: Yeah, well, you've got to earn those opportunities, right? Byron
- 11:35Speaker 2: Young has earned those opportunities. So, for example, whenever– Whether
- 11:40Speaker 2: it's Jalen Carter, Jordan Davis, Mauro Ojemo, whatever they needed
- 11:43Speaker 2: a spell, Byron Young was the first guy up there
- 11:45Speaker 2: because he's proven it. It's hard to do it when
- 11:48Speaker 2: you don't get those opportunities, but you have to earn those.
- 11:51Speaker 2: What I will tell you about Ty Robinson is that
- 11:53Speaker 2: it seems around the midway point of training camp, he
- 11:56Speaker 2: got off to a slow start. I don't know if
- 11:59Speaker 2: it had any coincidence, but right around the time where
- 12:02Speaker 2: he got into a little dust-up with Tyler Steen, it
- 12:04Speaker 2: almost awakened a sort of confidence in him where he
- 12:07Speaker 2: was approaching things differently. He talked about Clint Hurt and
- 12:11Speaker 2: then the exit meetings, emphasizing to him to really refine
- 12:16Speaker 2: and grow in terms of mobility and flexibility to eliminate
- 12:20Speaker 2: some stiffness and not being lopsided. And that's something that
- 12:23Speaker 2: I think has really been reflected in his reps. When
- 12:27Speaker 2: you're watching him play now, you're seeing someone who has
- 12:29Speaker 2: a little bit more wiggle to him and isn't as
- 12:32Speaker 2: stiff of an athlete. The strength has never been a question.
- 12:34Speaker 2: It's about the other elements of that game that you
- 12:37Speaker 2: need to be an effective player. And for right now,
- 12:40Speaker 2: he's done all the right things. It's going to be
- 12:42Speaker 2: on him to make sure that he stays on schedule.
- 12:44Speaker 2: And if he's able to do that and earn the
- 12:46Speaker 2: trust of Vic Fangio, and that sort of stems from consistency,
- 12:51Speaker 2: then he will be able to carve out a few
- 12:52Speaker 2: more snaps than he did last season.
- 12:55Speaker 1: Epson Michael Carter, and he said, it's close, it's close.
- 12:58Speaker 1: Michael's been doing a good job back there. What is
- 13:02Speaker 1: the battle that those two guys right now are, you know,
- 13:04Speaker 1: where do you see Epson Carter?
- 13:08Speaker 2: Yeah, what's interesting about Vic Fangio and playing safety in
- 13:12Speaker 2: his defense is that I don't know that you need
- 13:14Speaker 2: to be a superstar. You need to be someone who
- 13:16Speaker 2: is fundamentally sound, highly intelligent, and there's not going to
- 13:20Speaker 2: be a high variance nature to your game. And that's
- 13:23Speaker 2: Marcus Epps. He's not going to make the big play,
- 13:25Speaker 2: but he's often going to be in the right position
- 13:27Speaker 2: to make those tackles, make those plays, smart football player.
- 13:31Speaker 2: But for all that, and that's great, I think Michael
- 13:34Speaker 2: Carter's had a better training camp. But I think that
- 13:37Speaker 2: what maybe works against Michael Carter here, through no fault
- 13:40Speaker 2: of his own, is that he wears three different hats.
- 13:43Speaker 2: He can play safety, he can play nickelback, of course,
- 13:45Speaker 2: and he's their dime defensive back as well. So I
- 13:49Speaker 2: think Vic Fangio, if you listen to his answer and
- 13:51Speaker 2: you're able to kind of sift through it, you can
- 13:53Speaker 2: tell that he's really enamored with his versatility, and that
- 13:56Speaker 2: may prove to be too valuable. But Carter had three
- 13:58Speaker 2: interceptions in training camp. He's rangier. He has really good
- 14:02Speaker 2: sure area quickness. He sees things quickly, and I like
- 14:05Speaker 2: his eye discipline. I was a big fan of the
- 14:07Speaker 2: player watching him with the New York Jets, and he
- 14:10Speaker 2: has a lot of his skills and tools there. from
- 14:14Speaker 2: Nickelback that have translated to the safety position, but he's
- 14:18Speaker 2: still new to it. And I think there is a
- 14:19Speaker 2: comfort level there with someone like Marcus Epps. So I
- 14:22Speaker 2: do believe that it will be Marcus Epps week one
- 14:25Speaker 2: at safety when the Eagles are in their nickel package.
- 14:27Speaker 1: And then you asked about Andre Sam yesterday. I think
- 14:30Speaker 1: that was you anyway. Is he in the mix at all?
- 14:36Speaker 2: You know, Andre's had a really good camp, and I
- 14:39Speaker 2: thought he had a really good two practices there in
- 14:41Speaker 2: New England. He was really physical. There's something to be
- 14:44Speaker 2: said for a player, and Nick Fangio does not throw
- 14:46Speaker 2: away practice reps. He's not going to put you out
- 14:48Speaker 2: there if he believes that you're going to mess things up.
- 14:51Speaker 2: Andre's seen a ton of reps, all with the second team,
- 14:54Speaker 2: very sporadically with the first team. And I think right
- 14:58Speaker 2: now he's 27 years old. It's hard for me to
- 15:01Speaker 2: envision the Eagles feeling the need to keep him, knowing
- 15:03Speaker 2: that they've waived him for two years now. He's made
- 15:05Speaker 2: it to the practice squad. He just seems to be
- 15:08Speaker 2: a very dependable practice player. who they can elevate on
- 15:11Speaker 2: game day. And I think they're really comfortable there. But
- 15:14Speaker 2: if you listen to what Vic Rangier said, he called
- 15:15Speaker 2: him reliable and trustworthy, which that was my read throughout
- 15:19Speaker 2: the summer and really last year. But I don't know
- 15:22Speaker 2: that it's hard for me to envision them keeping Andre
- 15:25Speaker 2: Sam or even Gushiken or Maximus Pulley, just given the
- 15:29Speaker 2: way the roster is structured right now.
- 15:31Speaker 1: All right. He was asked about the defensive backs yesterday,
- 15:35Speaker 1: the cornerback depth right now. And he, You know, he said,
- 15:38Speaker 1: I feel good about Quinan and Rick. And, of course,
- 15:41Speaker 1: Jones has been hurt. I think he's back there now.
- 15:44Speaker 2: You said Rick?
- 15:47Speaker 1: Rick Wolin, yep. So Q, Rick Wolin, Jonathan Jones, he mentioned,
- 15:52Speaker 1: but he said he missed a lot of time. Do
- 15:54Speaker 1: you think he feels comfortable with that room right now?
- 15:59Speaker 2: Well, it's hard to imagine that he does, but this
- 16:01Speaker 2: is the group that they're working with right now, Mike.
- 16:03Speaker 2: And you can argue that they have, and it would
- 16:05Speaker 2: be a compelling argument that the Eagles have the top
- 16:08Speaker 2: three cornerback group. I'm throwing Cooper DeGene in there as
- 16:11Speaker 2: the nickelback. But beyond that, there's a lot of questions.
- 16:14Speaker 2: Jonathan Jones, last practice on, I believe, August 8th. Now,
- 16:18Speaker 2: he is a veteran. He's going to be 33 in September.
- 16:20Speaker 2: That's 33 in NFL years. But is that someone you
- 16:24Speaker 2: can rely on to get through a full season, or
- 16:26Speaker 2: is that sort of a precursor of what might follow?
- 16:31Speaker 2: Mack McWilliams is someone that he's had some positive moments.
- 16:35Speaker 2: They haven't been consistent moments. He hasn't been able to
- 16:38Speaker 2: sustain that. There's been practices where he's showing signs of encouragement,
- 16:43Speaker 2: and then there's been some opportunities that I'm sure he'd
- 16:45Speaker 2: like to have back. But he is someone who can
- 16:47Speaker 2: play nickelback, and he can play outside. So you like
- 16:50Speaker 2: that there. He was a draft pick last year, so
- 16:52Speaker 2: that does count for something. And Keely Ringo is a
- 16:55Speaker 2: player that is a tremendous special teamer, but he's at
- 16:59Speaker 2: best a fifth corner. I don't think that Vic Fangio,
- 17:01Speaker 2: under any circumstances, would want to put him out there.
- 17:04Speaker 2: But I do get the sense that Vic likes him
- 17:05Speaker 2: a little bit. He's gone out of his way to
- 17:07Speaker 2: prop him up and commend him on some of the
- 17:10Speaker 2: things that he's done. There have been some positive moments
- 17:12Speaker 2: in camp. Not enough, but I think he's pretty safe,
- 17:16Speaker 2: especially when they released safety JT Gray, who is a
- 17:19Speaker 2: three-time All-Pro and one of the NFL's best gunners for
- 17:23Speaker 2: a number of years now. When you release someone like that, well,
- 17:27Speaker 2: I think Ringo's your gunner and going to be your
- 17:29Speaker 2: core special team.
- 17:30Speaker 1: All right, good stuff. Who's your backup quarterback?
- 17:35Speaker 2: If I'm making the call with Andy Dalton, I think
- 17:38Speaker 2: there's a lot of value of having someone who has
- 17:40Speaker 2: experience in this system. He's entering his 16th season right now.
- 17:45Speaker 2: He can be an effective sounding board for Jalen Hurts.
- 17:48Speaker 2: And I don't know that there's been a big enough
- 17:51Speaker 2: discrepancy between Andy Dalton and Tanner McKee this summer to
- 17:55Speaker 2: sway it one way or the other. I would default
- 17:57Speaker 2: to the veteran and give you that stability there. I'm
- 18:01Speaker 2: also not as high on Tanner McKee as.
- 18:04Speaker 2: It seems like many are, but that's kind of where
- 18:06Speaker 2: I'm at with it.
- 18:07Speaker 1: All right, Andrew Chico. By the way, are you an
- 18:09Speaker 1: Alice Cooper guy at all?
- 18:12Speaker 2: Yeah, I like Alice Cooper. I saw him open for
- 18:14Speaker 2: him and his band, which was outstanding, open for Motley
- 18:17Speaker 2: Crue in about 2015. When that was supposed to be
- 18:19Speaker 2: the final tour for Motley Crue, I have that poster.
- 18:22Speaker 2: They're still touring right now, Mike. Explain that to me.
- 18:24Speaker 1: I don't know, man, but Cooper's playing Halloween Night in
- 18:28Speaker 1: Atlantic City. I don't know, Alice Cooper, Halloween Night. You
- 18:31Speaker 1: could get a little kooky at that show, don't you think?
- 18:34Speaker 2: Yeah, that's something I might entertain if it works with
- 18:39Speaker 2: my schedule.
- 18:40Speaker 1: All right, we'll have to take a look. October 31st,
- 18:43Speaker 1: Halloween night, Alice Cooper. We might have to do that show.
- 18:46Speaker 1: I know we're trying to find. I've got to find
- 18:48Speaker 1: something for us to go to here before it gets
- 18:51Speaker 1: too late here. All right, man, we'll talk. Next time
- 18:54Speaker 1: we talk, we'll be getting ready for the Washington Commanders.
- 18:57Speaker 1: It'll be fun. Thanks, bud.
- 18:59Speaker 2: I'm going to hold you to that, Mike, and I
- 19:01Speaker 2: will talk to you next week.
- 19:03Speaker 1: Take care, man.
