- 0:00SPEAKER_00: Hello and welcome to another episode of Grace Explained.
- 0:04SPEAKER_00: Today we're going to finish our series on dispense how dispensational Bible study can save us.
- 0:10SPEAKER_00: We looked at a couple weeks ago how dispensational Bible study can save you from hell.
- 0:16SPEAKER_00: Last week we looked at how dispensational Bible study can save us from hope.
- 0:22SPEAKER_00: And today we're going to look out at how dispensational Bible study can save you out of heresy.
- 0:29SPEAKER_00: So if you will, go to 2 Timothy 2 and verse 15.
- 0:33SPEAKER_00: 2 Timothy 2 and verse 15.
- 0:35SPEAKER_00: He says, Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
- 0:43SPEAKER_00: So there is a way to study the Bible today.
- 0:53SPEAKER_00: And that is also called dispensationalism or dispensational Bible study.
- 0:59SPEAKER_00: And understanding that there are different dispensations in the scriptures, and not every dispensation is for every group of people.
- 1:08SPEAKER_00: We looked at before how that we are in the dispensation of grace, and how that God deals with us today is different than how he dealt with the nation of Israel in time past.
- 1:18SPEAKER_00: And that he doesn't see a difference between Jew or Gentile today.
- 1:23SPEAKER_00: We're all the same, we're all sinners, we all need a Savior.
- 1:26SPEAKER_00: If you will look at Ephesians chapter 1, I'm sorry, Ephesians chapter 3 in verse 1, Ephesians 3 in verse 1, he says, For this cause I Paul, the prisoner of Jesus Christ, for you Gentiles.
- 1:38SPEAKER_00: If ye have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God which is given me to you, word, how that by revelation he had made known unto me the mystery, as I wrote afore in a few words, whereby when ye read you may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ.
- 1:56SPEAKER_00: So what we understand from these four verses is how that the dispensation of the grace of God was given to the Apostle Paul, and the information that he that he gave to him was the information about the mystery.
- 2:12SPEAKER_00: And the mystery is something that was kept secret, was not something that was revealed or or prophesied about, and it was something that was given to the apostle Paul, and he now makes known the mystery, and this is and the dispensation of grace is part of this mystery.
- 2:30SPEAKER_00: Um this was some not something that was spoken of in times past, it was not something that was spoken of in the Old Testament, it was not something that was spoken of in Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, but it's now made known.
- 2:43SPEAKER_00: So we understand that the mystery is the dispensation is part of the mystery is the dispensation of the grace of God.
- 2:51SPEAKER_00: So how does dispensational Bible study, how does it save us out of heresy?
- 2:57SPEAKER_00: Well, the moment that we're saved, it's our growth process starts.
- 3:03SPEAKER_00: We want to understand and we want to grow in grace, and we want to understand more about grace.
- 3:11SPEAKER_00: And as there's many different religions out there, there's many different uh groups out there, um, there's also many different, even under Christendom, there's many different denominations out there.
- 3:28SPEAKER_00: And with all the different denominations, the reason there's so many different denominations is because they all believe something different.
- 3:35SPEAKER_00: And so as you start to look and you see about these different religions or these different uh these different denominations, uh certain things are are taught, and they're taught as those people believe as being the truth, but as Paul would say, they're not the truth.
- 3:59SPEAKER_00: And so if you look at 1 Timothy chapter 2, 1 Timothy chapter 2, we've got to understand that there, and we all know this, that there, first of all, is a lot of different religions.
- 4:15SPEAKER_00: A lot of different people have faith in a lot of different things.
- 4:19SPEAKER_00: And you would say, well, Keith, and how do you know what you're believing is the right thing?
- 4:24SPEAKER_00: How do you know what you're believing is the truth?
- 4:26SPEAKER_00: Well, again, the scriptures is what I put my faith in, and I believe in the understanding of the scriptures that what I believe and teach is the truth.
- 4:38SPEAKER_00: And they go, well, people go, well, then how do you know that you're what you're teaching is the truth, and someone else is teaching out the scriptures, and and what they're they're saying isn't the truth, even though it's different than you.
- 4:51SPEAKER_00: Well, again, it comes down to, I guess, a faith issue.
- 4:54SPEAKER_00: But Paul warns against these things.
- 4:57SPEAKER_00: Um, if you look at 1 Timothy chapter 2, 1 Timothy chapter 2 and verse 3, he says, For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who will have all men be saved and come into the knowledge of the truth.
- 5:13SPEAKER_00: So when when Paul was talking to Timothy here, who's who's the leader of a church, and he's talking to him, he said, he tells him, he says, Listen, God's will is that every man gets saved.
- 5:27SPEAKER_00: And you know, for me, that's that's my thing that I would want more than anything is that people understand the gospel and that they not only believe the gospel, but that they put their faith and trust in the gospel and that they have eternal life.
- 5:46SPEAKER_00: More than anything else else in the world, no matter what they learn after that, I would hope that they have eternal life.
- 5:55SPEAKER_00: So then he goes on and he says that he wants all men to be saved.
- 6:01SPEAKER_00: Now, does that mean every man's going to be saved?
- 6:03SPEAKER_00: No, that's his desire, that's his will, is that all men are going to be saved, and not all men are going to hear the gospel and believe the gospel.
- 6:12SPEAKER_00: There's many people that I've talked to who have heard the gospel and they don't believe the gospel.
- 6:19SPEAKER_00: Some of them just say, I don't believe it, some of them say, Well, I'll think about it, and some of them are pretty hard-nosed and saying, Well, I just don't believe in a God, I don't believe in Jesus Christ, it's all fables, it's all it's all a bunch of stories, you're crazy for believing in a book, you know, all these things.
- 6:39SPEAKER_00: And so, you know, they go from from being very mellow about it to being very dogmatic about it.
- 6:47SPEAKER_00: But then he goes on, he says, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.
- 6:52SPEAKER_00: So Paul says that there's something out there that's the truth.
- 6:56SPEAKER_00: And I would suspect if the apostle Paul is writing this passage of scripture and he's talking about coming to the knowledge of the truth, and again, if you went back up and you and you saw what we what we read earlier in Ephesians chapter 3 and verse 4, whereby when ye read ye may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ.
- 7:20SPEAKER_00: Well, Paul was given by revelation of Jesus Christ some information, and with that information he received some knowledge.
- 7:28SPEAKER_00: And the knowledge that he received was what's called the mystery of Christ.
- 7:34SPEAKER_00: And I would think that the mystery of Christ is part of what he would call the knowledge of the truth.
- 7:44SPEAKER_00: If he's receiving and has an understanding of knowledge in the mystery of Christ, and then he comes here in Timothy, second, or 1 Timothy 2, 4, and he tells Timothy that all men be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.
- 8:02SPEAKER_00: I would put those two things together and believe that what Paul is wanting people to believe and people to understand was his knowledge in the mystery of Christ.
- 8:14SPEAKER_00: Because he he talks about in Ephesians 3 4, whereby when ye read, ye may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ.
- 8:24SPEAKER_00: Well, if he says and to come into the knowledge of the truth in 1 Timothy 2, 4, then when you would read the epistles written by the Apostle Paul, then you're going to understand his, understand the knowledge he has in the mystery of Christ, which is the knowledge of the truth.
- 8:46SPEAKER_00: So, in a very simple term, where is the truth?
- 8:51SPEAKER_00: Well, the whole scripture's truth, but if we read a passage of scripture and God's talking to Noah, and he tells Noah to build an ark, is he telling us to build an ark?
- 9:05SPEAKER_00: No, we're not to build an ark, but that story is important.
- 9:10SPEAKER_00: Why?
- 9:11SPEAKER_00: Because that story tells us about the faith of Noah.
- 9:16SPEAKER_00: That story tells us about how Noah had faith and his and his sons had faith, and his and their wives had faith, and how that they did things by faith, and they believed God, they weren't wicked like the rest of the world around them, and they did what God told them to do, to build an ark, to bring the animals on two by two, for the purpose of saving them.
- 9:43SPEAKER_00: That's the truth.
- 9:44SPEAKER_00: But that's not the truth today in the dispensation of the grace of God.
- 9:49SPEAKER_00: That was the truth back then.
- 9:52SPEAKER_00: So everything in Scripture is not truth for today, but the things written by the Apostle Paul are the truth written for today.
- 10:03SPEAKER_00: If you look at where in 1 Timothy, look at chapter 4 and verse 15.
- 10:09SPEAKER_00: Chapter 4, verse 15.
- 10:10SPEAKER_00: He says, Meditate upon these things.
- 10:15SPEAKER_00: Give thyself wholly to them, that thy propheting may appear to all.
- 10:21SPEAKER_00: Take heed unto thyself and to the and unto the doctrine, continuing in them, for in doing this thou shalt save, both save thyself and them that hear thee.
- 10:36SPEAKER_00: What Paul is talking about is the things that he has written in his letters to the churches, the things that he has written to Timothy, a young a young leader of the church, he's saying, Take heed unto these things and to the doctrine, the teaching that I've written to you, that I've told you, continue in them, for if you continue in the truth, if you continue in the doctrine, then you're not only going to save yourself, not from hell, because Timothy's already saved here, but you're going to save yourself from heresy.
- 11:18SPEAKER_00: You're going to save yourself from bad doctrine.
- 11:22SPEAKER_00: You're going to save yourself from things that are being said and being taught and being told that are untrue.
- 11:29SPEAKER_00: And not only are you going to save yourself from heresy, you're going to save them that hear you.
- 11:37SPEAKER_00: So there's importance into knowing and understanding dispensational Bible study because it can save you from heresy and it can save others from believing bad things, believing things that are not the truth, for believing things that can make you waver in who you are in Christ.
- 12:06SPEAKER_00: We're in 1 Timothy 4 and verse 1.
- 12:09SPEAKER_00: Look it up at verse 1.
- 12:12SPEAKER_00: Now, the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith.
- 12:21SPEAKER_00: They're going to depart from the faith, they're going to no longer believe the things that Paul has taught them.
- 12:27SPEAKER_00: They're going to no longer believe the mystery.
- 12:29SPEAKER_00: They're no longer going to believe in the dispensation of the grace of God.
- 12:33SPEAKER_00: And they're going to give heed to seducing spirits and doctrines of devils.
- 12:39SPEAKER_00: Well, that when he's talking about that, that's not just, oh, that they're Satan.
- 12:44SPEAKER_00: It's not like Satanism.
- 12:45SPEAKER_00: It's not like, oh, we're going to believe in this in Satan, we're going to believe in the devils, and we're going to worship the devil and we're going to worship Satan.
- 12:52SPEAKER_00: No, it's actually a little bit more tricky than that.
- 12:56SPEAKER_00: What they're doing is they're not just going ahead and teaching about Satan and teaching about devils and how you need to, how you need to follow them and up.
- 13:08SPEAKER_00: No, they do it in a different way.
- 13:10SPEAKER_00: They disguise it, they make it look like it's the truth when it's not the truth, when it's the untruth.
- 13:18SPEAKER_00: He says, speaking, verse 2, speaking lies and hypocrisy, having their conscience seared with a hot iron.
- 13:28SPEAKER_00: Look at verse 3.
- 13:30SPEAKER_00: Forbidding to marry and commanding to abstain from meats which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them that believe and know the truth.
- 13:44SPEAKER_00: So under the law, there were things that they could and couldn't do.
- 13:49SPEAKER_00: Under the law, there were things they could eat and couldn't eat.
- 13:54SPEAKER_00: And people will go back today, right now, with us living right now, today, people will go back, they'll take those verses, and what they'll tell you is that there are certain foods you cannot eat.
- 14:13SPEAKER_00: There are certain meats that you cannot eat.
- 14:17SPEAKER_00: There are certain things that you cannot eat.
- 14:21SPEAKER_00: On a certain day, you can only eat certain things.
- 14:26SPEAKER_00: On a certain day you cannot eat certain meats.
- 14:29SPEAKER_00: There's groups out there today doing that.
- 14:32SPEAKER_00: You guys know there's groups that are doing that.
- 14:34SPEAKER_00: There's groups that say on certain days of the week you can only have a certain type of food.
- 14:41SPEAKER_00: You cannot eat meat.
- 14:43SPEAKER_00: Where are they getting that from?
- 14:45SPEAKER_00: It's not in Romans to file.
- 14:47SPEAKER_00: Paul says the opposite.
- 14:49SPEAKER_00: If you receive it with Thanksgiving, you can eat it.
- 14:52SPEAKER_00: But instead, they're believing something that's written in the scriptures to another group of people at another specific time, and they're trying to bring it over into our time now and saying if you want to get closer to God, then you cannot eat meat.
- 15:11SPEAKER_00: Folks, that's not true.
- 15:12SPEAKER_00: There's another another one forbidding to marry.
- 15:15SPEAKER_00: Do you know of groups today that forbid certain people from marrying?
- 15:21SPEAKER_00: You can't marry?
- 15:25SPEAKER_00: You cannot have a wife or you cannot have a husband.
- 15:29SPEAKER_00: That's against Scripture.
- 15:34SPEAKER_00: Honestly, the second thing, the second institution that God that God started way back in Genesis was the institution of marriage.
- 15:47SPEAKER_00: He said it was not good that man was was alone and that he made him a wife.
- 15:54SPEAKER_00: And he went and he and he took the rib out of Adam and He made Eve.
- 16:00SPEAKER_00: And he did that for a purpose because he didn't think it was right for Adam to be alone.
- 16:06SPEAKER_00: So why would people tell us today, you shouldn't marry?
- 16:11SPEAKER_00: That's just not.
- 16:12SPEAKER_00: And when when you're looking at those things, Paul says that those things, he he brings them in and he talks to them as being things that are seducing spirits and doctrines of devils.
- 16:30SPEAKER_00: And even speaking lies and hypocrisy.
- 16:33SPEAKER_00: You know how many people told me when I was pastor in a church, they said, they said, I would have uh people from the church and they'd go, I tried to invite my friend, but they said that they didn't want to come because the church is full of hypocrites.
- 16:46SPEAKER_00: And I would always tell them, I said, Well, tell them to come.
- 16:49SPEAKER_00: We have room for one more.
- 16:51SPEAKER_00: Listen, there's so many people who say one thing and they do another.
- 16:54SPEAKER_00: It happens all over the place, and it's not right, it's wrong.
- 16:59SPEAKER_00: But it happens all the time.
- 17:02SPEAKER_00: And what happens is we need to take the scriptures, we need to believe the scriptures, and we need to understand what's written to us and follow those things.
- 17:14SPEAKER_00: But to tell people you can't marry, to tell people that you can't eat meat, to tell people that there's there is there is none of that today in the dispensation of grace.
- 17:25SPEAKER_00: So these are the these are the doctrines, teachings of devils that Paul is talking about, trying to get people in the dispensation of grace to live back under the law.
- 17:44SPEAKER_00: Those are the things that people are doing.
- 17:47SPEAKER_00: And so, and they're doing it from the pulpit, and they've got thousands of people sitting in pews and sitting in chairs and listening to them and understanding and agreeing because they don't go in the scriptures and study themselves and are workmen that needeth not to be ashamed.
- 18:07SPEAKER_00: They're taking everything they hear for granted, and they're not going and studying it out.
- 18:13SPEAKER_00: Look at 2 Timothy chapter 4, 2 Timothy chapter 4 and verse 1.
- 18:18SPEAKER_00: I charge thee therefore before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom.
- 18:28SPEAKER_00: Preach the word, be instant in season, out of season, reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long suffering and doctrine.
- 18:35SPEAKER_00: For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but after their own lust they shall heap to themselves teachers having itching ears, and they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and they shall be turned unto fables.
- 18:54SPEAKER_00: Can I tell you there are people who do not want to turn to a lot of different scriptures?
- 19:02SPEAKER_00: There are people who do not want to go ahead and study the Bible.
- 19:09SPEAKER_00: I've had people when they came and they would visit, they said, We looked at more verses today than I did at my old church all last year.
- 19:18SPEAKER_00: So many times I went and visited a church one time.
- 19:22SPEAKER_00: I didn't even need to bring my Bible because they never opened it up one time and never read one verse.
- 19:29SPEAKER_00: Instead, they told a story.
- 19:31SPEAKER_00: And they told a story that either one made you laugh, or they told a story that made you cry.
- 19:39SPEAKER_00: They're going after your emotions, they're telling you stories, and they're, but there's no verses to back up the things that they're telling you.
- 19:47SPEAKER_00: And what they're doing is they're they're they're giving you fables.
- 19:51SPEAKER_00: And we we see this all the time.
- 19:54SPEAKER_00: There are so many groups, so many sects out there, so many different cults, if you will, and there are so many different denominations that all they're doing is they're they're bringing in people and a lot of money.
- 20:08SPEAKER_00: I'll admit it, I never, I worked.
- 20:11SPEAKER_00: I worked when I was in the teaching in the church.
- 20:15SPEAKER_00: I worked a full-time job.
- 20:16SPEAKER_00: Why?
- 20:17SPEAKER_00: Because I wasn't in it for the money.
- 20:21SPEAKER_00: And folks, you've got to understand that when you're teaching, when when people are teaching and they're it's all about the money.
- 20:30SPEAKER_00: I've I've talked to too many people who said, oh yeah, last time the last time they were in church, they said they took an offering up three times before they ever gave the message.
- 20:41SPEAKER_00: You know, people like people like to go and they like to feel good.
- 20:46SPEAKER_00: They want to go to church and feel good.
- 20:49SPEAKER_00: So it's more of a production.
- 20:52SPEAKER_00: Church is no longer a place where people go and they study the Bible.
- 20:57SPEAKER_00: They go, they feel good, they they they walk in, they see their friends, there's a lot of fellowship, there's music, it takes you up, it brings you down, it makes you happy, it gets you crying, and do all those things.
- 21:11SPEAKER_00: Then someone comes on and for for 15, 20 minutes, he he makes you laugh, he makes you cry, he does all these things, and he's telling you a story, and they never one time open a Bible.
- 21:23SPEAKER_00: And they have these huge churches, and then when you talk to people from those churches, you know what they you know where they end up going?
- 21:30SPEAKER_00: They end up going to what they call small groups.
- 21:33SPEAKER_00: And you know where those small groups are?
- 21:35SPEAKER_00: Most of them are in someone's home.
- 21:37SPEAKER_00: And it's so funny because the scriptures always, when Paul is always talking to the saints at Rome, he says, and he goes, Well, salute the household of so and so, or the household of this person, or the household of that person.
- 21:51SPEAKER_00: The reason he's saying that, these are where the people are meeting.
- 21:53SPEAKER_00: They're meeting in church, they're not they're meeting in in homes, there are churches in the home.
- 22:00SPEAKER_00: And so most people, their real church or the real fellowship is with the people in these small groups.
- 22:07SPEAKER_00: And there, that's when they're actually bringing their Bible and breaking it open and reading it and studying it.
- 22:15SPEAKER_00: But Paul says, watch out for these things.
- 22:18SPEAKER_00: Watch out for these things.
- 22:22SPEAKER_00: Watch out for the people who turn their ears from the truth and are turned unto fables.
- 22:28SPEAKER_00: Titus chapter 1, verse 13.
- 22:31SPEAKER_00: Titus 1 and verse 13, he says, This witness is true, wherefore rebuke them sharply that they may be sound in the faith, not giving heed to Jewish fables and commandments of men that turn from the truth.
- 22:48SPEAKER_00: So how does dispensational Bible study help help save you from heresy?
- 22:54SPEAKER_00: Because if you understand that the apostle Paul is the apostle of the Gentiles, and that the Apostle Paul has written 13 books for you from Romans to Philemon, and you study those books and you understand the doctrines there.
- 23:10SPEAKER_00: And does that mean you don't study the Old Testament?
- 23:13SPEAKER_00: You don't read Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, you don't read Hebrews to Revelation?
- 23:17SPEAKER_00: No, you still do, because those are for our learning and admonition, but you start to understand the that we're not here to listen to Jewish fables.
- 23:30SPEAKER_00: We're not here to listen to things in the Old Testament and not learn from them, but take them as doctrine.
- 23:38SPEAKER_00: We're not here to take the commandments that men have.
- 24:26SPEAKER_00: I've heard it all.
- 24:30SPEAKER_00: I believe this because I was there, but I believe it because I saw it, I believe it because I witnessed it, but I believe it because I experienced it.
- 24:37SPEAKER_00: Can I tell you 2 Corinthians chapter 5 and verse 7 says, For we walk by faith, not by sight.
- 24:45SPEAKER_00: Faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
- 24:48SPEAKER_00: Folks, put your faith in the scriptures.
- 24:52SPEAKER_00: Understand what it is to have a dispensational Bible study, and understand what it is to rightly divide the word of truth.
- 25:06SPEAKER_00: If you've never put your faith and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ, understand that Christ died on the cross for your sins, was buried, and rose again the third day.
- 25:16SPEAKER_00: And if you simply put your faith and trust in Him alone, you'll have the free gift of eternal life.
- 25:22SPEAKER_00: But then He doesn't want you to just stop there.
- 25:24SPEAKER_00: He wants you to learn, and He wants you to come and to the knowledge of the truth.
- 25:33SPEAKER_00: Until next time.
