Tonight, we’re sharing the story of a mother who had barely finished fighting one battle when another began. Berenice Gutierrez Castañeda recently underwent a double mastectomy and completed chemotherapy. She reached the day when she could ring the bell and celebrate the end of that part of her cancer treatment. The celebration was short-lived as her five-year-old son, Evans, who lives with autism, became seriously ill. Evans developed appendicitis, and his appendix ruptured.
