Transcript
- 0:00This book is the most hilarious piece of right wing propaganda
- 0:04slop I have ever read. This is Trigger Warning by
- 0:08William W Johnson and JA Johnston and the tagline is
- 0:13there are no safe spaces. Hey.
- 0:15And if you're new here, my name is Rachel and I make videos
- 0:18about books about feminism, about poetry occasionally, and
- 0:21just whatever interests me. Like it's a mixed bag.
- 0:23It's fun. I'm happy to have you on this
- 0:25journey with me. I try and be fun and
- 0:27entertaining while also being educational and maybe helping
- 0:30you like question some things about the world, see it in a
- 0:33different way. I don't know.
- 0:35We just try and be inclusive here, but also have a good time
- 0:38and a giggle. If you're new here, it would be
- 0:44wonderful if you want to subscribe and if you've been
- 0:46around a while, just check you're still subscribed.
- 0:48That would be great too. If you want to see more from me,
- 0:50I do have Instagram. I also have a website where you
- 0:52can see lots of Michael photos and paintings and art and stuff
- 0:55like that. And I have a couple of books
- 0:57available myself, which I'll tell you about later.
- 0:59But for now, let's talk about this book because it is wild.
- 1:03I was, I'm going to have to put my glasses on.
- 1:05Sorry to read. Sorry if there's a glare.
- 1:08I was recently reading a list of the worst books ever written on
- 1:12Reddit and I came across Trigger Warning by William W Johnston, a
- 1:17book about this ex soldier who enrols at a university to get
- 1:22his generic masters in biology. Just biology, nothing specific,
- 1:27just biology. And then while he's there, he
- 1:29realises, Oh no, this is a liberal campus.
- 1:33And obviously because he's a straight white man, everyone
- 1:36calls him a Nazi and ought to attack him because we all know,
- 1:39sis, white men are the most persecuted in the world and.
- 1:44Yeah. And then?
- 1:45There's like this crazy plot to like bomb the campus so liberals
- 1:49can get money off other rich liberals and there's something
- 1:54something and it's bad because there's gun control on campus
- 1:57and now the bad guys had. Guns and if.
- 1:59Only they had guns and now this Republican ex soldier has to
- 2:03save the day. I wish I was joking.
- 2:06It is. Oh my God it's so funny.
- 2:09It is one of the most ridiculous books I've ever read.
- 2:11I've been telling everyone in my life about this.
- 2:13I gave some dramatic readings to my partner the other day.
- 2:17I went to a Longest John's show the other night and before we
- 2:20were hanging out backstage and I was like reading a bunch of this
- 2:22to JD and he was like, this is unreal.
- 2:24It is. It is.
- 2:25So we've had a good time with this book and now I'm excited to
- 2:28share it with you guys. But here's the thing.
- 2:30This book. Is not exactly written by
- 2:32William W Johnston, even though his name is on the cover.
- 2:36William died in 2004, but apparently they've just not made
- 2:39enough money off his name. So this book opens with a
- 2:42publishers note saying. Following the death of William W
- 2:45Johnston, the Johnston family is working with a carefully
- 2:47selected writer to organise and complete Mr Johnston's outlines
- 2:52and many unfinished manuscripts to create additional novels in
- 2:55all his serieses like The Last Gunfighter, Mountain Men and
- 2:59Eagles, among others. This novel was inspired by Mr
- 3:02Johnston's superb storytelling, so this book in particular was
- 3:07apparently ghostwritten. It's got his niece's name on the
- 3:10cover, but most people think there was another ghostwriter as
- 3:13well who's just completely uncredited.
- 3:16Probably a solid NDA there. I can understand wanting to like
- 3:19finish off a series or something like that, but just slapping his
- 3:22name on a random book written by a random person that he had
- 3:25nothing to do with? Because all the stuff in this
- 3:27book, all these issues were not really like a thing.
- 3:29They were not big talking points in 2004 and before.
- 3:32So it's clear he didn't come up with this outline.
- 3:34He didn't come up with this idea.
- 3:35He didn't have anything to do with this book, but they slapped
- 3:37his name on it as a money making scheme, if you will.
- 3:42It's a cash crap. It's just a cash crap.
- 3:44And now I have heard that his other books are awful and not
- 3:47just fully written. But apparently William was very
- 3:50religious. His father was a preacher.
- 3:52He was really big on writing horror books with the theme that
- 3:54was basically all on believers either are demons or will be
- 3:57punished by demons or something something demons you know.
- 4:01I've also heard that he used to include horrific amount amounts
- 4:05of racist language in his books, but I've not read them myself so
- 4:09take that with a pinch of salt. This one in particular though is
- 4:12massively right wing propaganda. It's so hilariously bad.
- 4:16I can't believe anyone would seriously enjoy this and yet
- 4:18here we are. There were points in this book
- 4:20where I was like, are we sure this isn't like satire?
- 4:23Is this actually like mocking the right?
- 4:25But I no no right wingers actually think the world is
- 4:30like. We'll get to some reviews at the
- 4:32end, but yeah, it I am losing brain cells even thinking about
- 4:37this book. So let's jump into this.
- 4:39Let's get through it. We're going to go in depth like
- 4:41we always do, kind of talk about things line by line and just
- 4:44have fun picking apart this slop.
- 4:46It's going to be good. So the first chapter starts with
- 4:49our ex soldier protagonist Jake in his room at college getting
- 4:53frustrated with the required reading for his course.
- 4:56To be honest, he was glad for the distraction.
- 4:58He was on the verge of throwing a book against the wall of his
- 5:01dorm room in disgust since it was a hard copy, a thick trade
- 5:04paperback he had bought in the university bookstore for an
- 5:06outrageous price and not something he was reading on his
- 5:09phone or tablet. He could have done that,
- 5:11although the book was heavy enough it might have dented the
- 5:13sheetrock. So right from the off, this is
- 5:15meant to signify that he's frustrated with how stupid and
- 5:19liberal the college that he's decided to go to is and the and
- 5:23the courses that he's decided to take are.
- 5:25And I will agree with him on one thing though, university books
- 5:29are outrageously overpriced. Like if you're a student, get
- 5:33your book second hand if you can.
- 5:35But anyway, then Jake hears a noise outside, so of course he
- 5:39goes to investigate. He spotted movement in the
- 5:42shadows under those trees. Someone ran towards the dorms
- 5:45along one of the concrete walls, but another figure pursued and
- 5:48caught the first one, grabbing an arm to sling the fleeing
- 5:50person to the ground. Wait, no no no no.
- 5:54God this is so. This is so poorly written.
- 5:56The grammar is wild. There's right?
- 6:00OK, this makes sense. OK, right.
- 6:02Someone ran towards the dorms along one of the concrete walks,
- 6:05but another figure pursued and caught the first one, grabbing
- 6:08an arm to sling the fleeing person to the ground.
- 6:10Another cry. Definitely female.
- 6:12He wasn't really aware of it, but he was smiling as he went
- 6:15out. So call me a crazy liberal
- 6:17feminist I am, but I don't think the natural response to seeing a
- 6:23woman being attacked in the street should be smiling.
- 6:27No, the author thinks that all colleges in America that aren't
- 6:30Bible colleges are just full of people like this.
- 6:33It didn't take him long to get down the stairs.
- 6:35A group of students was sitting was sitting were sitting.
- 6:40A group of students was sitting in the lobby talking about
- 6:43something that should be were the gramme I.
- 6:45You know what? While I was first writing this
- 6:46review, I didn't quite realise how bad the grammar is, but
- 6:49it's, it's difficult to read aloud.
- 6:51I think I was like, autocorrecting it in my head,
- 6:53you know? But reading it aloud now?
- 6:55Wild. He heard the words
- 6:56microaggression and privilege and CIS normative, but Jake
- 6:59didn't even glance at them as he went by and none of them called
- 7:02out to him. He didn't have any friends here,
- 7:04and what if the subject under discussion, none of them wanted
- 7:07his opinion on it? He was just a big dumb brute
- 7:10after all. I mean, you've not done anything
- 7:11to prove that wrong. So have you.
- 7:15We're on page one of the book and so far you've just been like
- 7:17grumble, grumble. Books made me mad.
- 7:19Me want to throw a book girl I see woman attack.
- 7:22Smile like that's. Giving big dumb brute, if
- 7:25anything, you know, But yeah, the author is whoever they are
- 7:28from the very first page trying to set up this idea that all
- 7:30liberal leaning students hate CIS white men who are the poor
- 7:34equal victims in all this. And that the real issues like,
- 7:37you know, microaggressions and overall systemic racism and
- 7:41systemic misogyny and, you know, the the big important things and
- 7:45they're just silly. They're not even real.
- 7:49Stop it. As Jake gets outside, he
- 7:50overhears the argument, which is basically a woman has broken up
- 7:54with a man and he wants to talk, so he's grabbed her and won't
- 7:57let go. Domestic violence, basically.
- 8:00Damn it, Annie, just be reasonable.
- 8:02I'm not going to let go of you until you start thinking
- 8:04straight. Stop, Craig, just stop.
- 8:07The words gasped out as the woman clearly fought to hold
- 8:09back sobs. I told you it was over.
- 8:12Jake was still moving towards them, but he stopped as he heard
- 8:14what the woman said. A grimace tugged at his mouth.
- 8:17Lovers quarrel, none of his business.
- 8:21That was an old fashioned attitude and he knew it, but
- 8:23almost everything about him was old fashioned, including his
- 8:26dislike of a woman being mistreated.
- 8:28Of course, if he did step in to help her, more than likely she
- 8:32would stick up for her boyfriend and turn on him instead,
- 8:34accusing him of of perpetuating the patriarchy and the myth of
- 8:38women needing to be rescued. He already got enough crap of
- 8:41that every day he started to turn away.
- 8:44Ah yes, don't you love those good old fashioned values of not
- 8:47stopping a man from hurting a woman just because they used to
- 8:51be in a relationship? Like then he's going on about
- 8:56how like, oh it's just a lover's like do you not see how that's
- 9:00the problem? Just putting literal domestic
- 9:02violence down to a lover's quarrel or shouldn't get
- 9:04involved Annoying. Ah, I don't know who wrote.
- 9:09This and I refuse to believe it's a woman.
- 9:11Uh, but that stupid typical right wing talking point of all
- 9:16feminist turn on men to try to help them.
- 9:18It bothers me, it's ridiculous, I hate that.
- 9:21But he does finally decide to step in when he hears this man
- 9:24slap the woman. But instead of focusing on the
- 9:26well-being of the woman, his focus is on she was petite and
- 9:29blonde, while the guy was good sized with dark hair and a short
- 9:33beard. Something was odd about the
- 9:34shape of his head, and after a second, Jake got it.
- 9:37The guy's hair was long enough that he'd pulled it up into a
- 9:40bun on the top of his head. Jake ran his left hand over his
- 9:42own buzz cut. He'd had fairly long hair once,
- 9:45half a dozen years earlier, but he'd never worn it in a bun.
- 9:48And if it ever grew back out, he still wouldn't.
- 9:51Jake is like. I can excuse slapping a woman,
- 9:53but I draw the line at Man Buttons.
- 9:57Jake tells the guy, whose name is Craig to let go of her.
- 10:01But he's like, Nah, man. And then he says things that no
- 10:04one would ever actually say, like this is none of your
- 10:07businessman. He paused.
- 10:09Are you one of those football players?
- 10:11Kelton College had a football team and it hadn't won a game in
- 10:14three years. You're big enough.
- 10:16But Olmsted's not the not the athletic dorm, which is where
- 10:20the where Jake came out of. I don't know.
- 10:23But yeah, the also just has to let us know what a big, strong,
- 10:26muscley piece of muscle Jake is. Jake is like, let the lady go.
- 10:31And the author writes that the woman, Annie, and Oh my God,
- 10:34it's like a straw man idea of a feminist.
- 10:37It's so it, it's just a caricature of a feminist.
- 10:39It's ridiculous. You don't have to call me a
- 10:41lady. Annie said, just as Jake had
- 10:44expected. She sounded halfway offended.
- 10:46I'm trying to help you. That's no excuse for
- 10:48perpetuating stereotypes and spreading toxic masculinity.
- 10:52Jake couldn't hold back a sigh. Even scared and in trouble,
- 10:54Annie couldn't stop herself from parroting some of the garbage
- 10:57that had been forced into her head.
- 10:59Not for the first time in the past half dozen years since he'd
- 11:02enlisted, Jake found himself wondering if the people he
- 11:04fought to defend really deserved it.
- 11:06Brutal. God.
- 11:08So on the one hand, it's true that a lot of victims of
- 11:11intimate partner abuse will actually side with their abuses
- 11:14when someone else steps in, usually out of self preservation
- 11:18or misplaced loyalty. It's understandable.
- 11:21It's like, obviously you don't want to see it happen, but it
- 11:24does. However, this idea that this is
- 11:27something that women say in this situation because they've had
- 11:30feminist garbage forced into their head is just laughable.
- 11:33It's no, absolutely not. Next, do we get a little Mega
- 11:37Boys fantasy action sequence? Craig finally released Danny's
- 11:41arm, but only so he could ball that hand into a fist.
- 11:44He twisted towards Jake and threw a punch.
- 11:46Jake moved his head out of the way and said.
- 11:48Stop it man. Well you still can.
- 11:50I'm not scared of you. Craig shouted.
- 11:53I don't care how big you are, I know Krav Maga.
- 11:56He'd just started some sort of fancy martial arts move when
- 11:58Jake hit him with a left hook to the belly.
- 12:00Craig's eyes got so wide Jake could see the whites of them
- 12:03even in the bad light. As he started to double over,
- 12:06Jake swung a right cross to the jaw and snapped.
- 12:08That snapped Craig's head over. Craig went down hard, pounding
- 12:12his face against a concrete walk.
- 12:14You killed him and he screeched. No, I could have, but I just
- 12:19knocked him out. Didn't even break his jaw.
- 12:21He'll be all right. And of course the woman turns
- 12:24into a mess, because that's what all women do.
- 12:27Remember she came at him hissing and spitting.
- 12:33If only she was a good little wannabe trad wife who would fall
- 12:36into his arms and say oh thank you Mr Muscles, I love how big
- 12:39and strong you are with your propensity for violence.
- 12:42Let me repay you by marrying you before we probably know each
- 12:45other so I can gift you my precious virginity and become
- 12:48your little unpaid housemaid and sex slave.
- 12:51Swoon. He should have stayed with that
- 12:54weighty tome about how capitalism was the worst
- 12:56economic system and America was the most evil country in the
- 12:59world. Tell me you've never read a
- 13:02college textbook without telling me you've never read a college
- 13:04textbook, Especially about economics.
- 13:07Like oh, part of me wishes they said that it would have made my.
- 13:11Economics courses a lot easier. You, you fascist, she screamed.
- 13:16You oppressor. Jake heard a sudden rush of
- 13:18footsteps behind him and turned to see several black clad
- 13:21figures chasing him. He couldn't make out their
- 13:23faces, and when they yelled fascist fascists, the words were
- 13:27muffled and he knew why they were wearing hoods over their
- 13:30heads. Then they were on him, swinging
- 13:33bicycle chains with locks on them, metal pipes and other
- 13:36objects turned into clubs, and this peaceful night on a small,
- 13:39elite college campus turned into a fight for his life.
- 13:42And my first time. Reading this I was like, sober
- 13:44what the hell? This is so laughably funny.
- 13:47It's brilliant, but it trust me, it just gets weirder.
- 13:51Jake had battled against superior odds many times, but
- 13:54usually he'd been heavily armed and hadn't been forced to take
- 13:57his enemies on barehanded. So he like, grabbed someone by
- 14:00the throat. Not sharp enough to break the
- 14:02idiot's neck though. These were kids.
- 14:04Arrogant, small minded bullies, but still kids.
- 14:07They didn't deserve to die for being stupid enough to believe
- 14:10the pack of lies they'd been fed by their teachers, the media,
- 14:13Hollywood, and more than half of Washington DC.
- 14:16Why do so many right wing men spend so much time thinking
- 14:20about how I could kill you if I wanted to, but I won't, but I
- 14:24could? It's kind of concerning, isn't
- 14:26it? And I kind of love that this
- 14:28author thinks that liberals are being brainwashed by teachers,
- 14:33Big evil Hollywood, and that Democrats would respond to this.
- 14:38Or like as a consequence of this, be hiding in bushes
- 14:41wearing masks and hoods, hitting people with bike chains.
- 14:46It's so funny. A second later, somebody landed
- 14:49on Jake's back and wiry arms and legs around him.
- 14:52I got him, a female voice yelled.
- 14:54Kill the fascist. Down with the pressors kill.
- 14:57Him. I literally at this point I was
- 14:59like, are we sure this isn't satire?
- 15:01Like if you told me someone wrote this to mock right
- 15:03wingers, I'd believe you. If you told me Alizi had written
- 15:08this to mock right wingers, I would believe you.
- 15:10This is exactly the kind of thing she'd do.
- 15:12But no, this is like a genuine book from like these proper
- 15:18Republican, like a Republican family.
- 15:21It I can't, I'm, I'm losing words here.
- 15:26The pipe and chain clattered on the walk as Jake dropped them.
- 15:29Oh. He reached up and back, got hold
- 15:32of the attacker clinging to his back like a spider monkey, and
- 15:35tore her loose. You.
- 15:36Better hold on tight, spider monkey.
- 15:39He bent forward, swung her over his head and tossed her onto the
- 15:42ground, being careful to make sure she didn't land on the
- 15:44concrete or hit a tree. She screeched rape, rape as she
- 15:48rolled over on the grass. He wished for a second he hadn't
- 15:52been quite so careful. Auntie Fur.
- 15:56Auntie Fur toxic toxic racist Nazi Nazi.
- 16:04I really hope they make a film of this just so I can mock that
- 16:06as well because that would be so damn funny.
- 16:09Oh my God it definitely gives me pure Flix vibes.
- 16:12You know, Jake begins to have war flashbacks to things which
- 16:15are absolutely horrific, but I don't doubt there's also more
- 16:20than a mild undertone of racism in all this too.
- 16:23The black suits are on their feet again and regrouping.
- 16:26As they got. Ready to charge him, Jake
- 16:28flashed back for an instant to things he had seen in the past.
- 16:30Men in black hoods spouting Arabic as they held a Western
- 16:33journalist and sawed his head off with a big knife.
- 16:37More black hooded figures forcing a scared child with a
- 16:39bomb with a bomb strapped to him down a street while they
- 16:42threatened to kill his mother if he didn't blow up himself.
- 16:45And some American soldiers, Those same evil men or others
- 16:48just like them, shoot shooting at him and his buddies.
- 16:52He then compares the people attacking him to Nazis, which is
- 16:56fun and ironic, especially considering all Republicans have
- 16:59been doing in America the last couple of years.
- 17:02They Taser him, Jake, and shout down with Nazis, down with
- 17:08Nazis. And I wish I could say the book
- 17:10ended there, but sadly we still got under the 250 pages to go.
- 17:14The scene, Custer, God knows one couple of hours later or
- 17:16something and he's with some campus security guard or campus
- 17:20policemen or something like that, and he shows him a news
- 17:24article about what's happened with the headline.
- 17:26Far right extremist attacks college students.
- 17:29That's not even close to correct, Jake said.
- 17:31I didn't attack anybody. I just defended myself like I
- 17:34told you. And I'm not far right, far left
- 17:37or far anything else. I just want to go to school and
- 17:40get an education. Sir, we all know that I'm not
- 17:43political means I'm secretly conservative douchebag, but I
- 17:46don't want to admit it, right? We all know.
- 17:49Then we get a little bit of back story.
- 17:51Jake left the army because it's not what it once was.
- 17:55Jake hates his father and even changed his name.
- 17:58No, changed his surname to his mother's maiden name.
- 18:01We don't really know why. Something about his father being
- 18:04a bad guy. I think we maybe learn it later,
- 18:05but it's not really important. Like it's not important at all.
- 18:08And Jake loves his granddad, who seems to be some big deal at the
- 18:12college he's at now. And oh God, the granddad is
- 18:15awful. Chapter 3 is a flashback to six
- 18:17months earlier. The grandfather, Caudal
- 18:20Gardener, is some rich billionaire type.
- 18:22And when I say billionaire, I mean like actual billionaire.
- 18:25I'm not exaggerating. Gardener's estate sprawled over
- 18:27a lot of East Texas acres and included tennis courts, stables,
- 18:30and a nine hole golf course. Even though Gardener didn't play
- 18:34tennis, ride horses, or have any use for golf.
- 18:36Sometimes his guests did though, and he'd been raised to be
- 18:39hospitable. Is anyone else sick of just
- 18:42hearing from and about millionaires and billionaires at
- 18:45this point? Because I am scrap them all.
- 18:47Jake and his grandfather are like especially he's just
- 18:50holding all this land and wealth that could be used for like
- 18:52actual things. Like he doesn't even use tennis
- 18:55courts and he's got them. Like you could use that space to
- 18:58actually like like and the golf courses and whatever.
- 19:01Maybe like build some homes for homeless people or but actually
- 19:03know what? There's like a.
- 19:05Big problem in the world where like, we don't actually need
- 19:07more homes as such, we just need homes to actually be affordable.
- 19:11Sorry, I'm going off on one, right?
- 19:13Jake and his grandfather are busy shooting in his backyard
- 19:17because guns are fun and not dangerous killing machines
- 19:19apparently. And Cordell says Jake has to do
- 19:23something after being in the army.
- 19:24But Jake just wants to sit around and wait for you to die,
- 19:28so we'll inherit that fortune of yours.
- 19:31Uh, such a funny joke. Jake, of course, is an expert
- 19:33shooter because he has to be good at everything, apparently.
- 19:37And also his granddad says you've got a knack for it.
- 19:40Always have. Never saw a boy who could handle
- 19:42a gun like you, even when you were a little kid.
- 19:45You could shoot like a grown man when you were 12 years old,
- 19:48drive like a grown man when you were 14.
- 19:50I'd ask some of the Mamas of your high school buddies what
- 19:53else you could do like a grown man, but I don't think I want to
- 19:56know. Yeah, sorry.
- 19:59Did you just casually throw in a child rape joke there?
- 20:03Can we? Can we?
- 20:05Maybe not. Jake then talks about how he
- 20:07used to do street racing, which is both illegal and dangerous.
- 20:11Not a fan of it. Don't condone that.
- 20:13But it's all OK because his billionaire granddad could and
- 20:16did repeatedly just pay to get him out of trouble.
- 20:19Once again, let's scrap all the billionaires.
- 20:21Please. Let's not.
- 20:23I can't believe they've made this protagonist like they've
- 20:25tried to make him like relatable and like, like, this is our
- 20:29protagonist. This is supposed to be the good
- 20:31guy. And like, the joke is he thinks
- 20:34he's above the law because he's from a rich family.
- 20:37I can't, I can't. No, we learned that Jake and his
- 20:40grandfather have some issues with his dad because his dad was
- 20:44a lawyer who used to do cocaine sometimes.
- 20:48And yeah, again, I still don't really understand what exactly
- 20:51the problem was. And I think the issue was that
- 20:53he did drugs and maybe he's dead, maybe he's not.
- 20:56I don't know. I don't know.
- 20:58You know what, it doesn't even matter.
- 20:59We don't even need that back story.
- 21:01It's just there, apparently. And anyway, apparently Jake got
- 21:04his bachelor's degree while he was in the Army, so his granddad
- 21:07tells him to go to college and get a master's and that he can
- 21:10get him a spot at college, the one he's at at the start of the
- 21:13book. And because he's like, he pays a
- 21:16bunch of money to them and he funds a bunch of stuff.
- 21:19And like, again, this is meant to be like a likeable, relatable
- 21:23protagonist. And he's just a neppo baby whose
- 21:26granddad can pay his way into stuff that he'll then go on to
- 21:29complain about rather than like, you know, actually earn his
- 21:32place or it like it. I can't.
- 21:34I can't. And he, he's not even grateful
- 21:37for this. He doesn't even, like, put time
- 21:40or care into thinking it through.
- 21:41He just says if one field of study didn't pan out the way he
- 21:44wanted, he'd just do something else.
- 21:46With Coral Gardener's money behind him, plus the small
- 21:49inheritance he'd gotten from his maternal grandfather, who owned
- 21:52a trucking company in New Orleans, he didn't really have
- 21:55to worry about making a living. These people don't know how damn
- 21:58privileged they are, do they? It I can't so instead of being
- 22:02grateful for like literally basically having a free
- 22:04education handed to him and doing whatever he wants for as
- 22:07long as he wants, he has to complain.
- 22:10Kelton College was a liberal arts school, though.
- 22:12There was a science. Department of course, including
- 22:14a programme that offered a master's degree in biology.
- 22:17Just biology, but it was a small part of the school's focus which
- 22:21was heavily geared towards literature, theatre, music,
- 22:23philosophy, sociology and especially political science,
- 22:26but only politics of a certain stripe.
- 22:29Just looking at the names of some of the courses listed in
- 22:31the catalogue had him frowning and figuratively scratching his
- 22:34head. Gender, culture and U.S.
- 22:37National identity. Feminist critique of
- 22:40Christianity, social justice and American racism.
- 22:45The psychological impact of male microaggression.
- 22:48Countering war mongering and oppression in American culture.
- 22:52Understanding multi phasic gender constructs.
- 22:56Jake had never seen such a load of useless baloney in all his
- 22:59life. Where were the regular courses?
- 23:02He flipped over to the English section Heteropatriarchy in
- 23:06American Literature L GB TQIAPK tales a seminar.
- 23:11He had to look that one up. The The abbreviation, which
- 23:15evidently today's college students instinctively
- 23:17understood, meant lesbian, gay, bi, trans, queer, intersex,
- 23:21asexual, pansexual and kink. Whatever floated anybody's boat
- 23:25was OK with Jake, as long as it didn't involve force, coercion,
- 23:28or kids, but a whole college course devoted to stories about
- 23:32such things. One glance into the political
- 23:35science section landed him on a course called the Toxic American
- 23:39Political Axes. Republicans, Nazis and Fascists.
- 23:44Now, I'm not American, so I can't say for certain what, what
- 23:49American colleges, all their courses are like.
- 23:51But at my university, which, you know, it was a good one, they
- 23:55would not have had courses like this.
- 23:57They might have had some modules in courses like this.
- 24:00But like, were there modules, for example, that did look at
- 24:03things for a feminist lens? Yes.
- 24:05But they weren't like, you need to be a feminist and look at it
- 24:07like this and only think of the feminist thing and this and
- 24:09this. And like they were like, OK,
- 24:11let's look at this from a feminist perspective and
- 24:13critique these things and analyse these things from that
- 24:15perspective. But also what's the counter
- 24:17argument? What's the other side of this?
- 24:19Can we analyse both angles and arguments and come to your own
- 24:23conclusion about it? You know, I'll be honest that
- 24:26these sound a little more like dissertation titles than module
- 24:29or course titles. And they're all very specific.
- 24:33Whereas in general, at a university and even at a masters
- 24:36level, the modules are meant to open you to like a whole area of
- 24:40study and let you evaluate different perspectives within it
- 24:43rather than just be like very, very narrowly focused.
- 24:46Like these are. Like, I get it, the authors
- 24:49trying to say like all universities are liberal
- 24:51brainwashing machines, but that's just not true and it's
- 24:54not hugely realistic. You know?
- 24:57I do have to credit this author for not being like overtly
- 25:00homophobic though, just subtly homophobic.
- 25:03It's ridiculous, and it only gets worse when he meets his
- 25:06advisor at the university. The guy was as pale as anybody
- 25:09Jake had ever seen. Tall, balding Gorky with a
- 25:12receding chin. He looked like a big white bird.
- 25:15Jake couldn't help himself. He said.
- 25:17Doctor Mutombo? The man sniffed.
- 25:20I identify as African American. My ancestors were colonialists
- 25:24named Motenbolt, I'm pronouncing that right, who lived for a time
- 25:29in French Equatorial Africa before immigrating to this
- 25:32country. I simply adopted a more
- 25:34appropriate spelling to honour the unfortunate people they
- 25:36oppressed and exploited. Again, this is just not a thing.
- 25:39This is like a caricature of what they think liberals are.
- 25:42This is just a pure straw man. You know, not everyone is Rachel
- 25:46Dolezal, who pretty much everyone agrees was incredibly
- 25:50offensive and is not like a spokesperson for all liberals
- 25:53everywhere. You know, And I just, I find
- 25:56this whole point in here in general is quite offensive.
- 25:59And his advisor tells him to get a masters in biology, he needs
- 26:03to take classes in economics, political theory and
- 26:07socialisation. And I was like, do they mean?
- 26:09Sociology. Have they got sociology and
- 26:11socialisation mixed up? Because like a socialisation
- 26:15class, especially at masters level doesn't make sense does
- 26:18it? But again, I'm not.
- 26:20American So what do I know? But again, it seems weird to me
- 26:23that like any, any college would have you doing like these really
- 26:28out there modules for a master's, like when you do a
- 26:31bachelor's, you pick a course and take a fairly narrow set of
- 26:34modules, right. And so like when I was doing
- 26:38BioMed, I did like agents of infectious disease, proteins,
- 26:41genes and genetics, chemistry for biology, like it was narrow.
- 26:46It was you know, and then when I did my business degree, I did
- 26:49like financial accounting, financial management and I did a
- 26:56couple of economics courses. I did things like I did do some
- 27:00slightly more out there modules like I did in neuroscience for
- 27:02business module and stuff like that.
- 27:03But again, it was still fairly narrow.
- 27:05Like in the field when you do a masters, you narrow it down even
- 27:09further. So I looked up my old university
- 27:12Warwick where and I looked at their masters courses in the
- 27:16general biology department. And again, you can't just get a
- 27:20masters in biology as I expected, it's way more
- 27:24specific. So you can do things like a
- 27:26masters in diabetes care, diagnostic date, and digital
- 27:30health data. Sorry, diagnostic data and
- 27:34digital health, medical biotechnology, mental health and
- 27:37well-being reproductive science. I just find it hard to believe
- 27:40that anyone could get a generic masters in biology like and then
- 27:44have to take a bunch of random courses in unrelated fields.
- 27:47It seems unrealistic. But again, I don't know the
- 27:49American University system, so maybe I'm wrong, or maybe this
- 27:53author's just never been to university.
- 27:56I don't know. Anyway, just to make the
- 27:58university even more laughably stupid, they include this next
- 28:01section. Now, it's normal for
- 28:03universities to have a code of conduct, right?
- 28:05Which can include things that you know the basics of.
- 28:08Don't say racist stuff, don't say homophobic stuff.
- 28:11Don't bully or harass all the students.
- 28:13Don't cheat on your work. Don't, I don't know, like, don't
- 28:17probably these days, don't use AI in your work, I'd assume.
- 28:20Completely normal, right? I think yes, well, this
- 28:24university goes really over the top with the idea of that and
- 28:27completely mocks the idea of a code of conduct.
- 28:29The professor opened a drawer in his desk and took out a sheaf of
- 28:32stapled together pages at least 7 or 8 sheets thick.
- 28:36He placed them on the desk and pushed them over to Jake.
- 28:38This is our speech code as part of our commitment to diversity.
- 28:42Kelton College guarantees all students a safe and inclusive
- 28:45learning environment, so you shouldn't use any of the words
- 28:47or phrases listed here. Jake frowned.
- 28:51I seem to remember reading something about a right to free
- 28:53speech. Motenbolt tapped a fingertip
- 28:56against the pages. Bringing up the 1st Amendment is
- 28:58listed in here. You shouldn't do that.
- 29:01It shuts down productive discussion.
- 29:03You shouldn't say anything about the Second Amendment either,
- 29:05especially the Second Amendment. Before Jake could respond, he
- 29:08took a booklet from the drawer and added it to the speech code.
- 29:11Our sexual guidelines. I get it.
- 29:14I get it. Universities are bad because
- 29:16they're against free speech and guns.
- 29:19Yeah, sure. You know, it's interesting.
- 29:21I think a lot of people often misunderstand the First
- 29:24Amendment, like this idea that like, I know I'm not even
- 29:28American and we don't really have that as a thing in the UK.
- 29:30But the idea of freedom of speech and the right to freedom
- 29:34of speech generally means it's to stop the government from
- 29:39responding to or restricting a person's right to freedom of
- 29:44speech. So it means that, for example,
- 29:45you can't be arrested for saying things critical of the
- 29:48government, for example. It doesn't mean you can just
- 29:51verbally harass people without consequence.
- 29:54It doesn't mean you can commit hate speech without consequence,
- 29:57you know? Yeah.
- 29:59They also have to mock people who care about consent, too,
- 30:02with these sexual guidelines. Jake asks if the sexual
- 30:05guidelines are an abridged version of the Kama Sutra.
- 30:08Motenbolt glared. Sexist comments like that are
- 30:11also violations of the speech code.
- 30:13No, this sets out the proper steps that are required to be
- 30:15taken before any sort of sexual contact to ensure that all such
- 30:19contacts are consensual. No means no way.
- 30:23Exactly. So yes means yes, No yes also
- 30:27means no because of our heteropatriarchal fellow centric
- 30:30culture. No one speaks like this, no one
- 30:33thinks like this. It it would be hilarious if
- 30:36there weren't people who actually believed this, who were
- 30:38making government policies in America right now.
- 30:41You know, as in like they believe that liberals believe
- 30:45this. It you know what I'm trying to
- 30:46say wild. I know they think that they're
- 30:50mocking and owning the libs or whatever, but the only people
- 30:53it's mocking here are the right wingers who actually think that
- 30:56other people believe this. Jake says something about like,
- 30:59male and female students and mutton Ball says all students.
- 31:05Not everyone accepts the antiquated concept of binary
- 31:07gender, you know. Remember LG GB TDTTTIQQAAPP?
- 31:17That means. Jake held up his hand to stop
- 31:19him. That's all right.
- 31:20I don't need it defined, but I thought it was L GB TQIPK.
- 31:24Motenbolt blew out the scoffing breath.
- 31:27That's outdated. The college experience is a very
- 31:29fast-paced one these days, Mr Rivers.
- 31:31You'll have to learn to keep up. Education is all about change,
- 31:34hope and change and resistance and social justice.
- 31:37Like, this is so pathetic. Like the way this is written,
- 31:40it's like. They want to.
- 31:42Mock these concepts, but they don't actually understand them
- 31:45like it's. Crazy, isn't it?
- 31:48You know, I can actually imagine all these like little red faced
- 31:50mega boys sitting around reading this little book chuckling to
- 31:53themselves, thinking they're so big and clever for like mocking
- 31:56these people. It's like you're mocking people
- 31:59and views that don't actually exist.
- 32:01Yes, like a lot of us believe that gender is not binary.
- 32:05That's like a completely reasonable thing when you
- 32:08understand why we think that and when you understand what it
- 32:11means when we say gender is a social construct and stuff.
- 32:14But we're not. We don't act the way it's
- 32:18portrayed in this book. It's not.
- 32:19I don't know. I don't even know how to say
- 32:21this anymore. I'm tired.
- 32:22I'm just, it's wild, isn't it? So Jake planned on keeping his
- 32:26relationship to Caudal Garden a quiet, but he wasn't above using
- 32:30it to his advantage if necessary.
- 32:32And the old man had it in his head that college was the same
- 32:34sort of place it'd been 50 years earlier when he'd wanted to
- 32:38attend but couldn't. So that meant Jake ought to live
- 32:40in a dorm, as he saw it. Given the amount of money his
- 32:43grandfather had forked over to Kelton College, Jake figured
- 32:46they would find a place for him. Nepo babies are not cute,
- 32:49they're not relatable, and they're not sympathetic in any
- 32:52way. I thoroughly hate Jake as a
- 32:54character. He is one of my least favourite
- 32:56protagonists in any book I've reviewed for this channel so
- 33:00far. One of we cut back to the
- 33:04present. So after the fight and the the
- 33:08main police guy in charge after the attack, he calls the
- 33:11students that he's literally being paid to protect.
- 33:14He calls some special little snowflakes and he says he's only
- 33:18there because he gets paid a lot and he doesn't actually care
- 33:20about any of them. So he's really not helping this
- 33:23whole right wingers are just money hungry and heartless
- 33:27narrative, is he? No, this isn't to be a critique
- 33:30of liberals, but like this book. But instead they're just making
- 33:35conservatives seem like, greedy and like they're all nepo babies
- 33:40and they're all rich and spoiled and it just, yeah, it doesn't do
- 33:43them any favours. And yet they think these are
- 33:45like the protagonists. Like, I can't.
- 33:48Anyway, Police guy is like, you can go to Jake.
- 33:50And he says that whatever he does, he won't get kicked out of
- 33:53the UNI because of his granddad's money.
- 33:55Again, Sickening. We hate this.
- 33:57And then Jake tries to head back to his room, but he's confronted
- 34:00by four of the masked guys who've been hiding in the bushes
- 34:03for him. The hooded figure ignored the
- 34:05comment and went on. This is keeps now.
- 34:08We don't want your kind here, Nazi, and it takes putting you
- 34:11in a hospital to make you leave. We'll do it.
- 34:13I am not a Nazi or a fascist. Jake snapped.
- 34:17Go buy a damn dictionary. The Nazis were socialists.
- 34:20Your side a convenient lie. Study some history you damn
- 34:25fool, or go on spouting your precious narrative.
- 34:28I don't care, just get out of my way.
- 34:31I think the author of this book, whoever they are, needs to be
- 34:33the one to study some history actually.
- 34:35So sure, the Nazis were called the National Socialist German
- 34:40Workers Party in name, but they were not socialist by any common
- 34:44use of the word, especially not by the time Hitler was in power.
- 34:48In fact, when Hitler wrote Mein Kamp, so before he was in power,
- 34:52he repeatedly spoke about his own definition of socialism and
- 34:56he hated that Marxists were using the term that he perceived
- 35:00to be in the wrong way. So he didn't align with
- 35:02Marxists. He didn't align with socialists
- 35:04as we know them today. Ultimately, Hitler kind of
- 35:07played around with different economic ideologies and went
- 35:10back and forth supporting basically whatever would suit
- 35:13him best at the time. I guess kind of like Donald
- 35:15Trump does today on a coincidence.
- 35:18Did he encourage capitalism at times when those who owned the
- 35:21means of production supported and financed him?
- 35:24Yes, absolutely. But did he also seize some
- 35:28industries and nationalise them at times?
- 35:31Yes, but mostly when those in charge wouldn't support him and
- 35:34he wanted to seize the power back from them.
- 35:37The Nazis were, to put it really simply, fascists who began under
- 35:41the disguise of socialism, but they were never socialists as
- 35:45the term socialist was understood today or even at the
- 35:48time. We also have to understand that
- 35:50they weren't just the Socialist Party, but they were the
- 35:53National Socialist Party. And as Hitler associated the
- 35:56German national identity with the white race, it can be
- 35:59inferred that if the Nazi party ever did want some kind of
- 36:03economic equality or to prioritise social welfare, it
- 36:06was only for the white German people at the very real expense
- 36:11of others. Which is obviously not true
- 36:13socialism and is heavily rooted in racism, obviously.
- 36:18OK, so anyway, then we get this little conspiracy filled rant
- 36:22going on. There was something
- 36:24fundamentally different in the way these guys stood and moved.
- 36:26Something professional. Most of the members of the
- 36:31various Antifa groups really were kids.
- 36:33Spoiled, brainwashed, vicious little monsters, but still kids.
- 36:38Jacob read enough about the movement though to have come
- 36:39across rumours that within the groups terrorist cells, if
- 36:43somebody wanted to call them what they really were.
- 36:45Individuals have been planted by the liberal billionaires who
- 36:49funded such madness. Men and women with military,
- 36:52paramilitary and mercenary backgrounds who had done things
- 36:54that would make the kids cry and wet themselves just to think
- 36:57about. They were there to keep the
- 36:58useful idiots in line, to make sure they showed up where they
- 37:01were supposed to and rioted right on queue, and also to take
- 37:05care of any actual dirty business that came up.
- 37:07Careers will laugh for a moment at the idea of liberal
- 37:10billionaires. Please.
- 37:11Like no, sorry, please. Like you've heard the saying
- 37:15there's no ethical billionaires, right?
- 37:17Absolutely true. There's also no liberal
- 37:19billionaires. Those two ideologies just do not
- 37:22go together. You cannot be a millionaire or
- 37:24billionaire without literally exploiting the working classes
- 37:28in some way. It's just a fact.
- 37:30There are perhaps millionaires and billionaires out there Who
- 37:33say they're liberal and make out that they're liberal for PR's
- 37:36sake, but you cannot have genuinely a liberal billionaire.
- 37:41Like you can't convince me otherwise.
- 37:43Sorry. Anyway, then they attack him.
- 37:47We are 34 pages into this book and we've had our hero beaten up
- 37:51twice already. But they're nurse genius.
- 37:53You're liberals. I can't say I'm sad about it.
- 37:55To be honest, I couldn't care less about him.
- 37:57The hooded men hadn't been lurking here in the shadows,
- 37:59waiting for him just so they could beat him up.
- 38:02They meant to kill him just because he hadn't eagerly
- 38:04swallowed and regurgitated their line of political bull.
- 38:08Ron think was a capital offence in their minds.
- 38:12Right wings really think they're the victims, don't they?
- 38:14It's quite funny. Jake could tell by the way they
- 38:17moved that they'd had some training, maybe military, maybe
- 38:19police Academy, or else their group funded by liberal money.
- 38:22What liberal money had paid somebody with experience to
- 38:26teach them a few things. There's a lot of projection in
- 38:29this book, you'll notice. Don't worry though, Jake isn't
- 38:32in any real danger. The man said ah and dropped the
- 38:36pipe. They had surrounded him like
- 38:38jackals, eager to pull down a helpless victim and feast.
- 38:42But not all victims were helpless, and they weren't even
- 38:45victims. They were hunters and killers.
- 38:49I genuinely think this is one of the worst, like most poorly
- 38:53written books I've reviewed for a while on my channel.
- 38:56In terms of just pure bad writing.
- 38:58It's up there with Charles Coren's, what was his book
- 39:02called? Winkler.
- 39:03I think that was poorly written. I could kill you right now, you
- 39:06know that, don't you? Jake said in a horse half
- 39:09whisper. All it would take to crush your
- 39:11windpipe is a little more pressure.
- 39:13Then I could walk away and you'd lay there and suffocate and
- 39:16there wouldn't be a damn thing you could do to stop it.
- 39:19Instead of doing that, Jake. Jake eased up a little.
- 39:21The man gasped in some air, then used it to rasp.
- 39:25Fascist, Are you really that stupid?
- 39:29Do you think a real fascist? A real Nazi?
- 39:31I thought you thought Nazis were socialists.
- 39:33Am IA real Nazi would let you live right now.
- 39:36I've been listening to you idiots for years now yammering
- 39:38about how any politician you don't like is literally Hitler
- 39:42when all along it's been your side that's been acting like the
- 39:45brown shirts and going after anybody who doesn't agree with
- 39:48you. Free speech, but only if it's
- 39:50speech we approve of. Speech that fits your precious
- 39:53narrative. Anything else gets shut down
- 39:55with violence if need be. Hell, you like the violence.
- 39:59Makes you feel big and powerful. Punchy Nazis.
- 40:02Feels great, only you're the Nazis.
- 40:05Jake lifted the guy's head by the throat and banged it against
- 40:08the ground. Are you listening to me?
- 40:10Damn it, you've got me so mad. I'm the one who's yammering now.
- 40:14So listen to this. If the other side was as bad as
- 40:17you believe it is, if we wanted death camps, then by God we'd
- 40:21have death camps by now. But we're still willing to live
- 40:25and let live. If you'll just letters.
- 40:27If you won't, well, do you want a civil war?
- 40:30Because that's how you get a civil war, and it won't be
- 40:32nearly as much fun as you think it will be with what Trump has
- 40:37been doing the last few years. This has aged so poorly.
- 40:41I think I said before, this was written in 2018-2019, something
- 40:45like that. So just at the when was it?
- 40:48Just at the like, in the middle of Trump's first term, I think,
- 40:52getting all my dates mixed up, and now in Trump's second term,
- 40:56This is aged. So if we wanted death camps,
- 40:58we'd have death camps by now. That's not the brag you think
- 41:01it. I, no, no, I can't.
- 41:05I can't. It's hilarious, but at the same
- 41:07time absolutely terrifying, right?
- 41:10All of his attackers now are unconscious except one of them.
- 41:13Don't, don't hurt me, he begged. Don't try to bully somebody
- 41:17who's willing and able to fight back, Jake told him.
- 41:20Better yet, don't bully anybody. People have a right to believe
- 41:24what they want to believe. So social justice is ball.
- 41:29There's just justice and sometimes it's a bitch, just
- 41:33like karma. Jake walked off and left the man
- 41:36there sobbing. New mega merch justice is a
- 41:40bitch coming soon. On the way back to his room,
- 41:45Jake meets a woman. Shocking, appalling, Can you
- 41:50believe it? A woman out by herself.
- 41:52It's disgraceful, isn't it? Jake stopped short instantly.
- 41:57He took in several details about the person who had just spoken
- 41:59to him, enough that he was reasonably sure he wasn't about
- 42:03to be under attack again. Although he couldn't be certain
- 42:05about that, he reminded himself. After all, women could be
- 42:08dangerous too, Even women as attractive as this one.
- 42:12Maybe, Maybe especially women as attractive as this one.
- 42:16A guy might stand there thinking about how hot she was, never
- 42:19even realised she was about to kill him.
- 42:20I mean, we've all been there, haven't we?
- 42:24But in this case, she didn't make any threatening moves.
- 42:26She just stood there with her hands in the hip pockets of her
- 42:29of the jeans she wore and looked at him.
- 42:33Now this. Sorry, this is too far for me.
- 42:35You want me to believe that liberal billionaires are murder
- 42:38machines? That's fine.
- 42:38I can believe that. But a woman been able to put
- 42:41hands in her hip pockets Wouldn't happen.
- 42:44Unbelievable. You've never you've never seen
- 42:46women's jeans, have you? These ones I'm wearing now.
- 42:49So annoying, right? Look at this, it's not even a
- 42:53real pocket. What's the point?
- 42:56Not not a pocket. So annoying.
- 42:58Anyway, sorry, right aside, but in this case she didn't make any
- 43:03threatening moves. She just stood there with her
- 43:05hands in the hip pockets of her jeans she wore and looked at
- 43:08him. It was a casual stance, but it
- 43:10might have been calculated to make her breasts stand out a
- 43:13little more prominently against the shirt she wore if that was
- 43:16the case. It worked.
- 43:18Of course. He's sexualising a random woman
- 43:20for simply standing, God's sake. Oh my God, what?
- 43:28Like she's literally standing there with hands in her pockets
- 43:31and that's an excuse to objectify and sexualize it?
- 43:34It's, it's silly, isn't it? It's so silly.
- 43:38And at first I like her because she turns to him and says you're
- 43:41an obnoxious young man, aren't you?
- 43:43In addition to being a violent 1 facts.
- 43:46Great. Love that for her, but my liking
- 43:48of her doesn't last very long, sadly.
- 43:51Her name is Natalie Burke. She's a professor at the
- 43:54university teaching criminal justice.
- 43:56I don't know why I put that in quotation marks, but there you
- 43:59go. And she says that she is 7, no,
- 44:02six or seven years older than Jake and I actually, at this
- 44:05point, I didn't have a clue how old Jake was.
- 44:07I assumed somewhere about 25, but I could have been wrong At
- 44:10this point. I don't remember how old he is.
- 44:12But I do think we get reveal at some point.
- 44:14We'll see. Jake says.
- 44:15I'd say that you don't look like a criminal justice professor,
- 44:19but that would be sexist, exclusionary, patriarchal, and
- 44:21oppressive, she said sternly. Haven't you read the speech
- 44:24guide? I looked at it.
- 44:26Jake hedged. I was more interested in sexual
- 44:29conduct guidelines. Yes, well, we don't have to
- 44:31worry about that. And you even bringing that up as
- 44:33harassment, you know. Jake held up both hands, palms
- 44:37out. I surrender, Dr What can I say?
- 44:39I'm an evil CIS normative heterosexual.
- 44:42I can't help myself. He smiled.
- 44:45Say, does that mean I'm mentally ill?
- 44:47That cuts me some slack. I'm a disadvantaged, oppressed
- 44:50minority on this campus for damn sure.
- 44:54Is this what the author thinks flirting is?
- 44:56Because that's what this is meant to be.
- 44:58I can't believe it. But does anyone feel like
- 45:01they're using the word? CIS normative wrong.
- 45:03Right. Like, like a society can be CIS
- 45:06normative and ideology can be CIS normative, but an individual
- 45:11like, does he just mean cisgender?
- 45:14Is he getting like, like the author got sociology and
- 45:18socialisation, socialisation mixed up.
- 45:21Are they getting cisgender and CIS normative mixed up?
- 45:24Like they, they don't even know the meaning of the words.
- 45:27They're trying to like mock and critique.
- 45:30It's yeah, it's a lot. And so Natalie starts by saying
- 45:34stuff about how she's going to call the police because she's so
- 45:36attacking the men. And he's like good night and
- 45:38walks away. As you do.
- 45:41He was a little confused, it seemed at times as if the woman
- 45:44was actually flirting with him. If that was true, it was one
- 45:47hell of an odd time and place for her to be doing that.
- 45:50At the same time, she'd been right about one thing.
- 45:52Despite everything else swirling around them, political
- 45:55tomfoolery and the like, people still had universal emotions and
- 45:58were driven by them at times. And she had said that she taught
- 46:01in the criminal Justice Department, he recalled.
- 46:04Maybe she wasn't quite as caught up in the so-called progressive
- 46:06movement as some then, remembering how he had read
- 46:09where some criminal justice experts always blame society for
- 46:12creating the predators or the victims being preyed upon and he
- 46:16wasn't so sure. Again, so poorly written, isn't
- 46:20it? The whole encounter had him
- 46:21baffled. But give me to.
- 46:24Maybe she would throw him under the bus, Maybe she wouldn't.
- 46:26But either way, there was nothing he could do about it
- 46:28now. The confrontation between Jake
- 46:31and the Antifa patrol was big news for a couple of days.
- 46:34Still makes me laugh. It was all of the Internet and
- 46:38the cable news channel of. Course it was, of course.
- 46:43And the various cell phone videos shot by people in the
- 46:47almost mob got millions of views in total on all the different
- 46:51Oh, got millions of views in total on all the different
- 46:53social media platforms. Random comma in there.
- 46:55In almost all the news stories, Jake was referred to as alt
- 46:58right, far right wing, extremist, white supremacist,
- 47:01Nazi, or accused of being a member of the KKK, even though
- 47:05the trouble had no racial component whatsoever.
- 47:07The fight with fists, pipes and chains was hysterically
- 47:10headlined as a mass shooting by one of the Boston papers.
- 47:13The New York Times decried the right wing brutality while
- 47:16sneeringly implying that such was to be expected because,
- 47:19after all, Kelton College was in Texas and everybody knew what
- 47:23sort of presidential candidates those persons voted for.
- 47:28Now, I know you're often supposed to suspend your
- 47:30disbelief in fiction, but come. On.
- 47:32It was difficult for him to get to class, and once he was there,
- 47:34he had trouble concentrating because the other students, and
- 47:37usually the professors as well, were staring at him with a
- 47:40mixture of fascination and fear. He was like some exotic zoo
- 47:43animal. He thought.
- 47:45They lived in such a philosophical and political
- 47:47bubble that they couldn't even begin to comprehend how someone
- 47:50could fail to share their views on everything.
- 47:52All that exotic animal comparison was apartment in
- 47:54another way. Because they all seem to be
- 47:56worried that he would attack and RIP their throats out for no
- 47:58reason with no warning. Or, you know, maybe they're a
- 48:01bit scared of you and staring at you because you're a grown man
- 48:04covered head to toe and bruises. You know, they've just seen
- 48:08videos of you beating up a bunch of people.
- 48:10Whether they shared the same views or not.
- 48:12I think it's pretty fair to be scared of you in that situation.
- 48:15Just saying. Especially if they heard the
- 48:17bits where you were like I could kill you right now with it.
- 48:20Like I'd be scared of someone saying that too.
- 48:23The 24 hour news cycles, insatiable thirst for fresh
- 48:26content meant that meant that some new outrageous story would
- 48:29be along soon. And so it was in this case.
- 48:32And three celebrity sexual harasses, 2 corrupt congressmen,
- 48:35both Democrats, although little mention of that was made, and a
- 48:38transsexual beauty queen of colour later, nobody cared about
- 48:41that right wing barbarian Jake Rivers anymore.
- 48:44Jake was glad of that. So let's not with outdated terms
- 48:48like transsexual, please. Let's not.
- 48:51And also, while we're on the subject of corrupt congressmen
- 48:54and the like. Why don't we release?
- 48:56All the Epstein files and prosecute all the child
- 48:59predators and rapists involved, at least one of which happens to
- 49:02be God. What is it again?
- 49:04Oh, yeah, the Republican president of the United States,
- 49:07although a little mention of that was made.
- 49:09See, we can both do this and be like, see, the corruption is
- 49:12from Exide and live, live, live. But they don't talk about that.
- 49:16Except the difference is this is a fictional example in mine's
- 49:19real life. Anyway, Jake goes to see the
- 49:21person in charge of the university.
- 49:23Like, I don't know if they call him like the president or
- 49:24something that I don't know. I don't know.
- 49:27We have like chancellors at our university.
- 49:29I don't know what Americans call it.
- 49:30I think something like the president of the university, I
- 49:32don't know. And on the way he meets Natalie
- 49:34again, the woman from the night before.
- 49:36There's more awkward attempts at flirting.
- 49:38He insults liberals and antifa and progressives and forward
- 49:42thinkers. And then he gets creepy about
- 49:44watching her walk away in a dress and staring at her bum and
- 49:47it's just OK. Uni guy is called Mr Pelleter or
- 49:52Mr Pelletier. Mr Pelletier Tier tier Mr
- 49:57Pelletier. We'll go with that.
- 49:59Yeah, maybe. And he says that Jake has a
- 50:02bunch of lawsuits against him. We're going to settle the
- 50:05lawsuits. Pelleter went on after a moment.
- 50:07The colleges lawyers assure me that the cost will be less in
- 50:10the long run than fighting them. His lips curled an expression of
- 50:14distaste. Besides, to be honest, I don't
- 50:16have the stomach to defend the actions of a person like you, Mr
- 50:19Rivers. I find your attitude and actions
- 50:22repellent and reprehensible. Young man, Kelton College is
- 50:25supposed to be a haven of learning for all students,
- 50:27regardless of ethnicity, national origin, national
- 50:30origin, gender, lifestyle, or philosophy.
- 50:33We value diversity and welcome inclusivity.
- 50:36This entire campus is a safe space, if you will.
- 50:38And then you Pelletier looked like he wanted to spit you come
- 50:43in here with your far right nationalist, patriarchal,
- 50:46sexist, bigoted, supremacist leanings and make our entire
- 50:50student body and faculty extremely uncomfortable.
- 50:53And here's the thing I'm confused about, right?
- 50:56Why do all these people? Think Jake has these views?
- 50:58What has he done to make them think this?
- 51:01We've not seen him display much of them outwardly yet.
- 51:04But generally people don't just say this stuff out the blue.
- 51:08And he can be like, oh, it's because I'm a sis straight white
- 51:10man. There's plenty of SIS straight
- 51:11white man on this campus and they're not being accused of
- 51:13this. So what have you done to start
- 51:16off all these rumours? That's what I want to know.
- 51:18But like, if he wanted to defend himself in this conversation
- 51:21with the university guy, he could simply say, I don't have
- 51:24far right beliefs. I'm not sexist, I'm not bigoted,
- 51:26right? But instead he chooses to say
- 51:29you can't be saying that I'm the only student enrolled here who's
- 51:32not some whiny little snowflake. Which actually does make me
- 51:36think these accusations against him have some merit.
- 51:40You know, the guy even says this isn't the time or place to argue
- 51:45with the wisdom or even the necessity of a constitution put
- 51:48into place by white slaveholders.
- 51:50I'm saying that I've received a number of complaints about you,
- 51:52Mr Rivers, even before your latest incident.
- 51:55Your wide eyed raving has disturbed many of our faculty
- 51:57and students. So at this point I'm like, well,
- 52:00what were these complaints? Because it sounds like people
- 52:03calling him a fascist. There might be some basis there,
- 52:07you know, that said, the apparent accusations, they're a
- 52:11little up and down. Some of these, like you, would
- 52:13not get in trouble for others. Interesting.
- 52:16Pelletier picked up a piece of paper from the desk in front of
- 52:19him, looked at what was evidently a list printed on it,
- 52:21and said, you were heard To cast doubt on the validity of
- 52:24Keynesian economics and taking a Nikon class.
- 52:28We're supposed to discuss things like that.
- 52:30And you know what? I am actually on Jake's side
- 52:32here. Like, I don't necessarily agree
- 52:34with his conclusion, but in every economics class I've
- 52:36taken, yeah, you should absolutely discuss this stuff
- 52:39and be like, well, this has its pros and the cons of on this
- 52:42side, and this has pros and cons on this side and so on.
- 52:45Like to get good marks, you should be able to highlight both
- 52:49sides of the arguments. And that's a normal part of
- 52:52education. And a university would not
- 52:55accept that as natural complaint.
- 52:56But they're just, they're just making things up here.
- 52:59And however, on to the next point.
- 53:02I can see why Jake kind of got this complaint against him.
- 53:04And I think this one's a little bit more valid.
- 53:06You told another student that in your opinion, all lives matter.
- 53:10Are you saying they don't? That's not the point, is it?
- 53:12Like the All Lives Matter crowd is being purposefully
- 53:16inflammatory to try and undermine the genuinely
- 53:19important conversations being had by the Black Lives Matter
- 53:22movement. It's not a matter of like, do
- 53:25all lives matter or not? It's saying when you bring that
- 53:28up in response to the talking points by Black Lives Matter,
- 53:31you're speaking over the real genuine issues there.
- 53:34You know, also if you are interested in hearing more
- 53:38people talk about issues around like Black Lives Matter and just
- 53:41kind of racism in general. One of my favourite people in
- 53:44the world and a really wonderful friend of mine, Rosie Begonsi,
- 53:47has this incredible poetry EP that she put out called I
- 53:52believe it's Songs About Race. I'm just going to check.
- 53:55Yeah, poems about race and Rosie's absolutely incredible.
- 53:58She's so talented. She also plays the hand pan on
- 54:00it and she's wonderful. So I recommend going and
- 54:02checking out her stuff. It's on Spotify, I believe, also
- 54:05on Apple Music, and you can find some stuff on YouTube as well.
- 54:08So she's great. Sorry, just shamelessly
- 54:10promoting my friends there. Anyway, it goes on and the whole
- 54:13point of this thing is Jake crying because like, Oh my God,
- 54:16I'm being punished for having their own opinions because I'm
- 54:18not politically correct. People are so mean.
- 54:21Like, whatever. OK, so the guy asked him to
- 54:25withdraw from college. The like, president guy says,
- 54:27like, will you withdraw from the college?
- 54:29Jake is like, no end of chapter. Chapter 10 opens with this guy.
- 54:33He's like the first time we've been introduced to him.
- 54:36But he's like the main bad guy in the book, right?
- 54:38And his name is Mathias Foster. And he is shooting some stuff.
- 54:41He's testing some guns. And he comes out with cheesy
- 54:44lines like this. Preparation, my dear Lucy,
- 54:47Proper preparation is the key to success.
- 54:50Forgive me for sounding like a motivational speaker.
- 54:53You're right, Foster agreed. We have other powerful weapons
- 54:56on our side. Our brains.
- 54:58He touched his forehead and our hearts.
- 55:01His fingertips rested for a second on his chest.
- 55:04Those are a higher calibre than any mechanical weapons we might
- 55:07employ, and we must test them as well.
- 55:11So funny. So even though we don't know who
- 55:13he is yet, like I said, he's the bad guy.
- 55:14But these four men drive up to the firing range and approach
- 55:17him. Four men get out the SUV and
- 55:19walk towards them. All were in their 20s, one
- 55:22black, 1 Hispanic, 2 whites. All wore the same sort of casual
- 55:25clothes as Foster and Lucy. The black guy and one of the
- 55:28white guys wore sunglasses as well.
- 55:30The other white guy and the Hispanic had the Hispanic.
- 55:34I let's like not forget that he's a person, you know.
- 55:37I anyway they'd gotten out of the SU VS backseat.
- 55:41Jimmy. Hank Foster greeted the 2IN
- 55:43sunglasses with a nod, then smiled at the other two.
- 55:46Carlos Ben, they are here for target practise.
- 55:50Because sure we are the black guy.
- 55:53Jimmy said. The only way to stop those
- 55:55fascists from taking over the country and ruining it is to
- 55:58fight back against them with something they'll understand.
- 56:00Force. Carlos said.
- 56:02The same sort of oppression they deal out to us.
- 56:04No, liberals talk like this. You know that, right?
- 56:08But you know what? This actually reminds me and
- 56:11lots of things in this book really reminded me of that
- 56:13terrible attempt at a novel by Debbie Pearl.
- 56:17But I've got a couple of videos on it.
- 56:19And basically in it, she had these like Muslim terrorists
- 56:22fighting these good Christians who had like, they discovered
- 56:27this miracle jam that could bring the dead back to life.
- 56:31And they had to print a bunch of Bibles to save the world because
- 56:36like, it was the end of the world and everyone was going to
- 56:40ascend to heaven if they were a Christian.
- 56:42But they also had this life saving miracle jam and volcanoes
- 56:45were erupting and a bunch of Muslim people were setting off
- 56:48bombs. It was, it was so damn stupid.
- 56:51It's one of the stupidest, most offensive books I've ever read.
- 56:54And this comes close. Well, in a lot of ways it's, I
- 56:58don't know if it's worse. They're both pretty bad.
- 57:00They're both kind of on an even keel with how bad they are.
- 57:02This next bit has not aged well either at all.
- 57:05You know, they put some on death camps if they could get away
- 57:07with it. Hank said.
- 57:08Ben nodded and said sure they would.
- 57:10Racist, sexist, homophobic bigots.
- 57:13That's all they are. Every single one of them.
- 57:15If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the
- 57:17problem. I mean, they're not wrong about
- 57:19right wingers, are they? Like, because they're saying the
- 57:21right wing would do this if they could.
- 57:23And I mean, yeah, they're not wrong.
- 57:25Look at everything Trump's been doing in America in this last
- 57:27term and that he's, he's got plan it.
- 57:30Yeah. Anyway, Anyway, there's a stupid
- 57:32drama because one of the white guys, Ben, has been passing
- 57:35information on to someone via a flash drive, apparently.
- 57:39So I'll, I'll tell you this now. These are meant to be like
- 57:42liberal terrorists. I know.
- 57:45And he's been passing information on to like the right
- 57:48wing, I don't know, some right wing people or the right wing
- 57:52government or something to like rat them out.
- 57:55So Foster just, well, he says that he killed the guy that he
- 57:59gave the USB to and he got it back.
- 58:02And then when he's called out for this, Ben threatens them all
- 58:05with one of Foster's guns. And Foster's like, ha, the
- 58:08firing mechanism in that's broken.
- 58:10You'll never do anything with it.
- 58:11And then the other men just shoot him and kill.
- 58:13Him. And that's the end of the
- 58:15chapter. Just to remind you, these are
- 58:20people who are supposedly on the side of wanting gun control and
- 58:24less guns in the country, and apparently they all just sit
- 58:27around talking about how much they love guns and shoot each
- 58:30other. Again, it's this fundamental
- 58:32misunderstanding of what liberals believe and do and.
- 58:38It's wild. It's wild.
- 58:40Go back to Jake and his billionaire grandfather who is
- 58:42busy paying people off for him to get out of trouble again.
- 58:45Typical. Then Natalie turns up at his
- 58:48dorm room for, well, it's like, for God knows what reason.
- 58:51And I was like, how does she even know where he lives, right?
- 58:54It's dodgy as hell. But after laughing together
- 58:56about how silly people are for getting mad about racism,
- 58:59bigotry, sexism and homophobia and homophobia, they agreed to
- 59:04go for a beer together. And we get another moment which
- 59:07is aged so badly. And Jake didn't much like going
- 59:10out without being armed, especially after the recent
- 59:12troubles. As a private institution, Kelton
- 59:14College had the right under the law to prohibit carrying weapons
- 59:16of all kinds. Public universities which
- 59:19receive tax funds had to abide by the law of the state of Texas
- 59:22that allowed citizens to bear arms.
- 59:25The news media, the academic world, and the left in general
- 59:28had freaked out of that legislation, shrieking that the
- 59:30states, colleges and universities were going to
- 59:33become the site of frequent bloody shootouts.
- 59:36Of course, that hadn't happened, just as all of the liberals
- 59:39doomsday predictions about all sorts of things from global
- 59:42warming to the population explosion had failed to come to
- 59:44pass. When a provision was added to
- 59:47the law allowing Texans to carry openly, it was the end of the
- 59:50world as we know it. According to some, people would
- 59:52be blasting away each other constantly.
- 59:55That couldn't be allowed to happen.
- 59:56Just think of the children. So one, if you don't like going
- 1:00:00out without being armed, where's your gun when you were being
- 1:00:02attacked last night? And two, do you really think now
- 1:00:05after what happened to Charlie Kirk not allowing guns on campus
- 1:00:09is a silly thing? Jake goes on to brag about how
- 1:00:11he always carries a gun everywhere even when it's
- 1:00:14illegal to because I guess the law doesn't apply to him for
- 1:00:18reasons. I mean, this is what happens
- 1:00:20when you keep getting away with breaking the law because your
- 1:00:22granddad's rich. I guess you just think the law
- 1:00:24doesn't apply to you anymore. But it's funny, he he brags
- 1:00:27about this and I never go anywhere without a gun.
- 1:00:29But then the times when he needs a gun, he doesn't actually have
- 1:00:31one. So.
- 1:00:32And then he blames liberals for that.
- 1:00:34Weird. Remind me why we're supposed to
- 1:00:37root for this guy? Because I don't.
- 1:00:39But then again, not right wing so.
- 1:00:41He also had several small but deadly combat knives he carried
- 1:00:44on occasion. He knew some older men,
- 1:00:46including his grandfather, had carried at least a pocket knife
- 1:00:48every day of their lives for 50 years or more until the rise of
- 1:00:52the nanny state and its metal detectors had created too much
- 1:00:55of A hassle for them. Jake had a couple of guns in his
- 1:00:57dorm room. They weren't supposed to be
- 1:00:59there, but he wanted to have them handy anyway.
- 1:01:01He didn't try to take one of them out with him tonight
- 1:01:03though. Instead, as he slipped his
- 1:01:05jacket on, he felt the comfortable weight of the
- 1:01:07folding knife in one of the pockets.
- 1:01:09The blade, when it was opened was a little less than 3 inches
- 1:01:12long, but in the hands of an expert, and Jake was an expert,
- 1:01:16that was more than enough to be deadly.
- 1:01:18So caring about the well-being of people and not wanting guns
- 1:01:22and knives everywhere does not make somewhere a nanny state.
- 1:01:25Just going to say that. And sorry but if I was.
- 1:01:28Going out for a beer with a guy who was carrying a gun or knife,
- 1:01:31I'd be petrified by that. I'd be like, no.
- 1:01:34Anyway, Nestle reveals that she knows who he is and who his
- 1:01:37granddad is. And he's like, I don't want
- 1:01:39people to know in case they think I'm getting special
- 1:01:41treatment. Which actually means that he
- 1:01:43doesn't want people to know that he is getting special treatment
- 1:01:46because he is. He is.
- 1:01:48I don't want to talk about it, he said, shaking his head.
- 1:01:50I don't want people thinking I'm getting breaks or being treated
- 1:01:52differently because of who my relatives are.
- 1:01:54But he is. But you are, Natalie said.
- 1:01:58Thank you. And that's just the way of the
- 1:02:00world, Jake. People who have more wealth and
- 1:02:02power, or whose families have more wealth and power are
- 1:02:05treated differently. Some people who are obsessed
- 1:02:08with trying to make everything in the world fair don't like
- 1:02:10that. But there's nothing really they
- 1:02:11can do about it. They've been trying for hundreds
- 1:02:14of years, but they haven't been able to.
- 1:02:16Oh, well, that's all right. Then we should just see
- 1:02:19corruption and inequality and ignore it because why bother
- 1:02:23trying to change it? Why make anything better?
- 1:02:25It's been going on this long and it's only getting worse.
- 1:02:28But yeah, let's not try and fix it at all.
- 1:02:30What a sad, horrible, uncaring and selfish worldview to have,
- 1:02:36right? Wild.
- 1:02:37Anyway, they bond over complaining about how everyone
- 1:02:40is throwing a hissy fit and that they're just looking for
- 1:02:43something to complain about and blah blah blah blah blah.
- 1:02:45This whole book is just self congratulatory right wing slop.
- 1:02:49We find out at this point Jake is 24 and not for the first time
- 1:02:53we're told that he has an old soul and he is mature for his
- 1:02:57age. Which when coupled with that
- 1:02:59line earlier about sleeping with adult women when he was a
- 1:03:02teenager, feels creepy to me. Kind of justifying child rape,
- 1:03:06but OK. I don't like it.
- 1:03:09I don't like it at all. Natalie gives us the most over
- 1:03:11the top description of Jake and it is unintentionally hilarious.
- 1:03:16You're full of contradictions. You're a warrior, but you're
- 1:03:20also a philosopher. You quote Shakespeare.
- 1:03:23You're young, but you look down on people your age and venerate
- 1:03:26soldiers from wars that were fought 3 generations ago.
- 1:03:29You're quiet, spoken and gentle. And yet you've been one of those
- 1:03:33rough men ready to do violence on other people's behalf when
- 1:03:36you need to be. You still are a rough man.
- 1:03:39I don't go out of my way to look for fights.
- 1:03:41Exactly. You're like a warrior monk.
- 1:03:45And then they kiss. And then Jake gets attacked
- 1:03:48again. Those damn black hooded antifa
- 1:03:52fanatics. They were after him again.
- 1:03:56I don't. Get why this random nobody man
- 1:03:58is a target at all? And honestly, after reading the
- 1:04:00whole book, I still don't. That's so ridiculous.
- 1:04:05It's funny. So, Jake.
- 1:04:07Uses his knife and is an angry, emotional and violent mess.
- 1:04:11As Jake returned to an upright position and stood there braced
- 1:04:14for more trouble with his chest teeth thing not from exertion as
- 1:04:17much as from emotion. He tried to calm the rage that
- 1:04:20had burst into white hot fire inside him.
- 1:04:23All the resentment and disgust that had been building up since
- 1:04:26he had come here to Kelton College had broken free.
- 1:04:29He knew he could have killed somebody if one of those knife
- 1:04:31strokes had opened up a throat, but right at that moment he
- 1:04:34didn't care. They had attacked him again, and
- 1:04:38whatever happened to them was on their own heads.
- 1:04:42So he's saved by campus police again, and while the main guy in
- 1:04:46charge seems to be on his side, another it's not.
- 1:04:48So we get the typical like good cop, bad cop thing, but it's
- 1:04:51like right wing cop, left wing cop, blue cop, red cop, if you
- 1:04:56will, or red cop, blue cop, whichever.
- 1:05:00Way around 1 I don't. Anyway, I'm rambling here.
- 1:05:03Natalie. Apparently someone who called
- 1:05:04the police when he gets back to his room Natalie has text him to
- 1:05:08check that he's OK. And at this point I'm like but
- 1:05:11how did she get his number? Like he didn't give it to her.
- 1:05:13She didn't give him hers. Like how did she text him?
- 1:05:16I'm like she's dodgy as hell either like she's abused her
- 1:05:20position in power as a lecturer at the university to find out
- 1:05:22his personal information which is creepy as hell, or like she's
- 1:05:26a plan sent to spy on him and that's why she's gotten from his
- 1:05:29information. In which case I'm like but why
- 1:05:32are they spying on him? He's not that important.
- 1:05:36He's a nobody. I don't.
- 1:05:38I don't like any of this. It's so silly.
- 1:05:41Anyway the text when he read it he saw it said are you all
- 1:05:44right? N that was her he thought.
- 1:05:47He wasn't sure how she got on his number, but she had already
- 1:05:49proven to be resourceful. He tapped out.
- 1:05:51Fine, you all good? I'm glad you weren't hurt and
- 1:05:55now you have my number so I'll be expecting you to call me.
- 1:05:57Jake sent back a thumbs up, not knowing what else to say, then
- 1:06:01put the phone in his pocket and went on into the dorm.
- 1:06:04Driest texter ever. Oh my God.
- 1:06:08Oh I'm so tired. OK, I'm going to stop us here
- 1:06:11and film tomorrow night. OK?
- 1:06:13Welcome back to Part 2 Filming and We Are Just.
- 1:06:15Going to do voice over for this, if that's OK, because I got back
- 1:06:18from Barcelona yesterday and I'm a little exhausted and I look
- 1:06:21very, very tired right now. But we're going to do this
- 1:06:24together. So we're starting off with the
- 1:06:26next chapter, which cuts right back to our Antifa gang
- 1:06:29ringleader Foster. Him and his buddies are
- 1:06:32complaining about Jake saying, oh, Rivers is going to be a
- 1:06:35problem, we need to take that Slough a bitch out.
- 1:06:38Jimmy said he held up his left arm, which spotted bandage
- 1:06:41around the forearm. He cut me pretty bad.
- 1:06:43I had to get a dozen stitches. Man, if we didn't have a doctor
- 1:06:47of our own, we'd have guys in the ER right now and the cops
- 1:06:49asking questions. And we were lucky it wasn't
- 1:06:52worse. Somebody could have gone and
- 1:06:53killed. As it was, we've got men laid up
- 1:06:56again, so obviously they're the ones attacking him.
- 1:06:59I still don't really understand why they're targeting him.
- 1:07:01Like, he's literally no one special.
- 1:07:03And we don't really get an answer for that at any point in
- 1:07:06the book. So just, you know, it's plot for
- 1:07:09plot sake, all right? Just this book is nonsense.
- 1:07:12It doesn't have to make sense. None of it does.
- 1:07:15With this next bit though, I love how bad the dialogue is
- 1:07:17here. It's so funny.
- 1:07:19We've gone after him twice just to test him and find out how
- 1:07:21much of a bad bum he really is. Foster pointed out.
- 1:07:24Now we know he's not going to take us by surprise and die
- 1:07:26harders. If he tries, we'll be ready for
- 1:07:29him. That's why we have to make sure
- 1:07:30where he is and keep track of him.
- 1:07:32Still think we should just go ahead and kill him right off the
- 1:07:34bat? Jimmy muttered sullenly.
- 1:07:36And again, here's where things get confusing, right?
- 1:07:38Because this whole book so far has painted all the liberal
- 1:07:41Antifa students and just liberals in general right as
- 1:07:45violent and aggressive, and they're doing all this
- 1:07:48attacking, right? And then the liberal bad guy
- 1:07:51says this. What about the rest of the
- 1:07:53students hand cast? There could be somebody else who
- 1:07:55might take us by surprise. Foster made a face and shook his
- 1:07:58head. The chances of that are so
- 1:08:00small, I'm not really worried about it.
- 1:08:02You know what they're like. They're not violent, they are
- 1:08:04bore violent. Just ask anybody, they'll tell
- 1:08:06you. Oh, they can form a mob quickly
- 1:08:08enough if anybody offends them and violates their safe spaces,
- 1:08:11but as long as we keep them spread out, they won't do that.
- 1:08:13They won't do anything unless the odds are on their side.
- 1:08:16They think they're noble, but they're just cowards.
- 1:08:18He laughed again. They're about to learn a
- 1:08:20valuable lesson, though. What's that, Lewis?
- 1:08:22He asked. And a world full of wolves.
- 1:08:25There are no safe spaces. So I'm confused.
- 1:08:28You're meant to be liberals. You're meant to be fighting for
- 1:08:30the side who want safe spaces. You're complaining that the
- 1:08:33people you're fighting alongside aren't violent, even though
- 1:08:37they're the ones who started fighting first.
- 1:08:39You're liberals. You're violent.
- 1:08:41That like, but I, I don't know, I, I don't even think this book
- 1:08:46knows what it's saying anymore. And not at any point.
- 1:08:49So it wants to. Paint all liberals as like
- 1:08:51violent bad guys, But then they're like, don't worry, they
- 1:08:53want attackers. They're just liberals.
- 1:08:55They're not violent. They're cowards, but they're I,
- 1:08:57I don't know who. It makes no sense.
- 1:09:01Then we get one of the creepiest scenes yet.
- 1:09:03So Jake Gustav is a friend of his called Keith Randall who has
- 1:09:06a 12 year old daughter. I you know what?
- 1:09:08I forgot this was even in here because it's so insignificant.
- 1:09:11But Keith likes guns, Jake likes guns.
- 1:09:14Both the men have guns. The 12 year old daughter then
- 1:09:18mocks Jake for having a small gun.
- 1:09:20And Jake, this grown man in his mid 20s says to the 12 year old
- 1:09:24girl. It's not the size of the gun,
- 1:09:27it's what you know how to do with it.
- 1:09:29Jake had responded, then immediately wished he hadn't
- 1:09:31said such thing to a 12 year old girl.
- 1:09:33He needed to watch his phrasing in the future.
- 1:09:35Stop it. Why would the author even choose
- 1:09:38to write this? They're always going off on like
- 1:09:41certain liberals being like, oh. You're a danger to kids.
- 1:09:43Like they hate things like drag Queens reading to kids and yet
- 1:09:47they write they're supposed to heroes saying things like this
- 1:09:50to literal children? What the hell?
- 1:09:52Like the author did not need to include this.
- 1:09:55Jake did not need to say it. He didn't need to be saying it
- 1:09:58to a. 12 year old girl especially I stop it.
- 1:10:01Stop it. But it's OK.
- 1:10:03Apparently the conservatives writing this book don't want us
- 1:10:07to be silly liberal snowflakes who are offended by child sexual
- 1:10:09harassment. Because the small child wasn't
- 1:10:12offended, she just went straight back to shooting an automatic
- 1:10:14rifle, the book reads. If she'd been offended, though,
- 1:10:17she hadn't shown it. She just snorted disgustedly,
- 1:10:19shook her head and gone back to the AR15 she was sighting in.
- 1:10:23What is wrong with these people anyway?
- 1:10:25Then there's more of this like Oh my God, Antifa and the true
- 1:10:28Nazis talk and it's just, it's too silly at this point.
- 1:10:32So Jake tells this Keith guy about the guys who attacked him
- 1:10:35twice and his friend says Jake that's that's unacceptable.
- 1:10:40So clearly he's like me, big strong alpha.
- 1:10:43That unacceptable. Me, me me me me.
- 1:10:46At the shooting range Jake saw some old guy who was an even
- 1:10:49better shot than him and he got all gooey eyed for him and
- 1:10:51couldn't stop thinking about him.
- 1:10:53And it reads, since then Jake hadn't been able to get the man
- 1:10:56named Riviera out of his head, or Randall's comments about the
- 1:10:59possibility of him being a private security specialist.
- 1:11:02That sort of work appealed to Jake, or at least the idea if it
- 1:11:04did anyway. He had training and experience
- 1:11:06that had enhanced his own natural skills to the point
- 1:11:09there was something not often needed in normal society.
- 1:11:12Not many people needed an ever rougher man than usual standing
- 1:11:15ready to do violence on their behalf, but when they did it was
- 1:11:18often a matter of life and death, and Jake enjoyed pitting
- 1:11:21himself against high stakes like that.
- 1:11:23I think Jake needs therapy. Just being honest.
- 1:11:26Back at the university and some random guy calls Jake a Nazi so
- 1:11:29he starts arguing with him at a corridor and Jake calls him a
- 1:11:32snowflake. So the guy responds by acting
- 1:11:34like some over the top caricature and then the guy says
- 1:11:38to him, we've had enough of your aggression.
- 1:11:41He was all Jake could do not to turn around quickly and pop the
- 1:11:43guy. He didn't figure it would take
- 1:11:45any more than one punch. In fact, that punch might well
- 1:11:47break his jaw. That would shut the annoying
- 1:11:49little B word up anyway. So good job there denying the
- 1:11:53claims. You're aggressive, Jake, by
- 1:11:56being aggressive. The left didn't want the truth
- 1:11:58getting out, though. To them, the liberal elite was
- 1:12:00smarter than anyone else, and so they thought they ought to be
- 1:12:03the ones to tell people what to think and do.
- 1:12:05And liberals always included themselves in that elite without
- 1:12:08ever occurring to them that if the communists saw the Islamic,
- 1:12:11no Islamist, not sorry, Yeah, not Islamic Islamist.
- 1:12:14OK, All the Islamist fanatics ever took over, they would be
- 1:12:18among the first lined up against the wall for the firing squad.
- 1:12:21Like, what is this nonsense? None of this book makes sense.
- 1:12:25And then there's some stuff about Jake being kind of racist
- 1:12:27to a black guy who tried to help him out, but Jake comes around
- 1:12:29to him and realises, dude, it's OK, he might be black but at
- 1:12:33least he's from a rich family so he's one of the good ones.
- 1:12:37That's sickening, absolutely sickening.
- 1:12:39The next chapter is just more of the same nonsense like this.
- 1:12:42The answer to that was simple and near universal.
- 1:12:44If a liberal said it, other liberals would believe it
- 1:12:47regardless of what the facts showed.
- 1:12:49Just not even close to true. I feel like they could be
- 1:12:52talking about Donald Trump's followers here.
- 1:12:54You know, the projection is it's a lot.
- 1:12:57Once again, Natalie shows up out of nowhere and her and Jake bond
- 1:13:01over their apparent hatred of the left.
- 1:13:03No, the professionally outraged will just find something else to
- 1:13:05be offended and upset about. You know that, Jake, the way
- 1:13:08they moved the goal posts, nobody can ever win with them.
- 1:13:11Like, this stuff is funny for a while, but it gets boring,
- 1:13:13doesn't it? Just because it's so over the
- 1:13:15top and stupid and they miss so many of the points that I, well,
- 1:13:18I say that there is. It's a hilarious bit, though,
- 1:13:20where they go to a restaurant, and it's one that Natalie
- 1:13:23suggests. And they took his pick up with
- 1:13:25Natalie giving him directions to the steakhouse.
- 1:13:28Not that he really needed them. He knew he could have relied on
- 1:13:30his innate sense of direction to find the place.
- 1:13:33Yeah, You can find a place that you've never been to before just
- 1:13:36because you have an innate sense of direction.
- 1:13:38Shut up. This is not how men work.
- 1:13:42There's more nonsense and lack of understanding about consent,
- 1:13:45too. So they kiss, God knows why who,
- 1:13:48who would kiss this man? But OK, here we are.
- 1:13:51When the kiss ended, as it finally had to, Jake said
- 1:13:53quietly. I'm sorry, I didn't ask your
- 1:13:55permission to do that. Don't be.
- 1:13:57She replied without hesitation. Look, let's forget about all
- 1:14:00those ridiculous politically correct guidelines.
- 1:14:03There comes a time between a man and a woman when none of that
- 1:14:05garbage matters. He started to say something
- 1:14:07about how she was being awfully hetero centric there with her
- 1:14:10comment about a man and a woman, but then he realised she was
- 1:14:12right. He shoved everything else out of
- 1:14:14his mind and let and let human instinct guide him.
- 1:14:17Kissed her again. There were some things
- 1:14:19bureaucracies just couldn't make rules against, and what he was
- 1:14:22feeling now was one of them. Let the petty little tyrants try
- 1:14:25to regulate human emotions all they wanted.
- 1:14:27In the end, they would fail. The human spirit wouldn't be
- 1:14:30broken, if it ever was. That was a world Jake wouldn't
- 1:14:34want to live in. No one wants to regulate human
- 1:14:37emotion. What does that even mean?
- 1:14:40So funny. In the next chapter things keep
- 1:14:43getting ridiculous. Our big bad liberal gang leader
- 1:14:46has now infiltrated a very elite group, the college
- 1:14:49groundskeepers. He's apparently been posing as
- 1:14:52one of them for weeks now and I'm not.
- 1:14:55And on this particular day, he's decided to put his plan into
- 1:14:59action finally and kill them all off 1 by 1 In my original script
- 1:15:03tells like why, I don't know, but he's he strangles the head
- 1:15:06groundskeeper, hits another over the head with a wrench, and then
- 1:15:09he holds the other three at at gunpoint and asks them for their
- 1:15:12overalls as as you do, I guess. And then he strangles one of
- 1:15:16them and then the other two get stabbed with knives.
- 1:15:18So now there's five dead groundskeepers.
- 1:15:21Also he could get some overalls so a bunch of Foster's evil
- 1:15:25liberal colleagues show up and dress in all the stolen overalls
- 1:15:29and I just. I don't get why he a had to pose
- 1:15:32as a groundskeeper for weeks to do this.
- 1:15:35B had to kill them all. See why any of this is
- 1:15:39happening. Like, couldn't you just bought
- 1:15:41some of these overalls online or like stolen some?
- 1:15:44I'm sure there's some spare ones lying around somewhere.
- 1:15:47And like, the whole idea is that they're, they're wearing these
- 1:15:50overalls so they can like walk around campus and start digging
- 1:15:53holes without arousing suspicion.
- 1:15:55But like that none of that was even necessarily necessary to
- 1:16:00the plan anyway. So I just I, I'm, I'm so
- 1:16:02confused by all of this. Not of this was necessary.
- 1:16:07Oh my God. OK, chapter 19 is back to
- 1:16:10Pierce, Jake's new black friend who is arguing with his also
- 1:16:14black girlfriend about Jake. And here's the thing I find odd
- 1:16:18about this book right, is that the author feels need to point
- 1:16:20out the race and skin tone of only non white characters,
- 1:16:24right? So if a student is like black or
- 1:16:28Hispanic or something like that, then we're told about it.
- 1:16:31But if it's anyone else who happens to be white, their skin,
- 1:16:34their skin colour is never actually mentioned.
- 1:16:36So like as a university president, Natalie, I think
- 1:16:40maybe Jake himself, although maybe is mentioned that he's
- 1:16:43white. I'm not sure.
- 1:16:44But none of their skin colour is ever mentioned.
- 1:16:46We just have to assume they're white.
- 1:16:48It's like assuming that white is the default and racism they
- 1:16:52pointed out if it is in the author's eyes, although, and
- 1:16:55that kind of feels like racism to me, you know, I just, it's a
- 1:17:00bit odd, you know, like I don't mind if authors want to leave
- 1:17:04multiple characters race ambiguous in general if it's not
- 1:17:07relevant to the story. I I have literally no issues
- 1:17:10with that. But there's a difference between
- 1:17:12that and an author writing a piece of right wing propaganda
- 1:17:15trying to claim that they're neither racist nor a Nazi who
- 1:17:18views. And yet they seem to view white
- 1:17:20skin as the default, you know? Anyway, Pierce's girlfriend is
- 1:17:25mad that he's been helping Jake. And she points out, you know,
- 1:17:29good and well those damn white supremacists are setting up
- 1:17:31death camps in Utah and Wyoming and are planning to send all the
- 1:17:34black folks there just as soon as they steal enough elections
- 1:17:37to control the government completely.
- 1:17:39Which I know was written at the time to make her seem crazy and
- 1:17:42unrealistic. But once again, reading this in
- 1:17:45Trump's second term, this isn't so out there, is it?
- 1:17:48She has a point. I feel like this book, the
- 1:17:51liberals are like, meant to appear crazy and whatever, but
- 1:17:55they're actually just like prophesizing what's happening
- 1:17:57now. But like 8 years earlier.
- 1:17:59It Yeah, it's a lot. There's also this section which
- 1:18:03has aged so poorly. It's, oh, it's a bunch of
- 1:18:06laughable nonsense. Right?
- 1:18:07The previous semester, Pierce had written a paper on voter
- 1:18:09fraud, and he knew from his research into the subject that
- 1:18:11in virtually all the provable cases, the fraud had favoured
- 1:18:14the candidate representing the Democratic Party.
- 1:18:17People on the left like to argue that the Republicans engaged in
- 1:18:20voter suppression, which was also a form of fraud, but Pierce
- 1:18:23hadn't found any actual evidence of that.
- 1:18:25On the contrary, the only instances of voter suppression
- 1:18:27and intimidation he'd been able to find were cases where antifa,
- 1:18:30Black Lives Matter and other progressive groups had prevented
- 1:18:33conservatives from voting, sometimes by violence.
- 1:18:36As someone who had always considered himself very left
- 1:18:39with leaning politically, but who was also devoted to the
- 1:18:42concepts of fairness and equal rights, those discoveries have
- 1:18:44been rather troubling for Pierce.
- 1:18:46Yeah, sure, that happens. It's definitely not happened on
- 1:18:49the other side, has it? We definitely haven't had.
- 1:18:52I say we. I'm English, but like, you guys
- 1:18:54have definitely never had a Republican president try and,
- 1:18:58you know, encourage his voters and fans.
- 1:19:01And they actually have stormed the Capitol building because
- 1:19:05they lost an election. Yeah.
- 1:19:06I anyway, PS goes to me history group her all these
- 1:19:10stereotypical caricatures of liberals.
- 1:19:12Farid was on his feet, stocking around the table and talking
- 1:19:15animatedly as usual. He was a wiry young man who had
- 1:19:18shaved his head but kept a layer of dark beard stubble on his
- 1:19:20face. He spotted Pierce approaching.
- 1:19:22He stopped waving his hands and glared angrily at the newcomer
- 1:19:25instead. Chunky purple haired Marjorie
- 1:19:27Dawn didn't look happy to see PS either.
- 1:19:29Marjorie was never happy though, so Pierce wasn't surprised.
- 1:19:32She was one of the most perpetually outraged people he
- 1:19:34had ever met, and that was saying a lot since Pierce's
- 1:19:37father saw racism everywhere he looked.
- 1:19:39The other two members of the group just looked like they
- 1:19:40wanted to get on with it. Jenny Trumbull had been a
- 1:19:42cheerleader in high school, but a couple of years that Kelton
- 1:19:45had changed her. Now she wore her blonde hair in
- 1:19:47dreadlocks, seldom washed it and wouldn't be caught dead in make.
- 1:19:50That's that's not how dreadlocks work.
- 1:19:53Like you still have to take care of them.
- 1:19:54I no stop, OK. Clark Mitchell was short, pudgy,
- 1:19:58round faced and more glasses the stereotypical nerd, but he was
- 1:20:01highly intelligent and fiercely devoted to Jenny, although she
- 1:20:04never paid him anything more than perfunctory attention.
- 1:20:08They all say nonsense things like none of that matters.
- 1:20:11Nothing can be allowed to distract from the narrative.
- 1:20:14You know that Jake Rivers is evil and must be driven from our
- 1:20:17midst like. No one, no one talks like this,
- 1:20:20no liberals talk like this. Tests or aggressions.
- 1:20:23Marjorie said under her breath. Just another way for the
- 1:20:25patriarchy to keep oppressing us.
- 1:20:27The system keeps us in it's iron grip.
- 1:20:29Farid said, holding your hand up and clenching it into a fist to
- 1:20:32demonstrate. But one day all the oppressed
- 1:20:34people of the world will join together and explode.
- 1:20:37He opened his fists emphatically.
- 1:20:39Then there will come a reckoning for the simple western society
- 1:20:42and all it's ills. So once again, this book was
- 1:20:45clearly written by someone who's never been around actual
- 1:20:47liberals in their life. It's laughable.
- 1:20:49And no one talks like this. And of course, they're making
- 1:20:52the one Muslim character in the book start talking about like,
- 1:20:54explosions and oh God, yeah, let's not it.
- 1:20:58It only gets worse. The portrayal of Farid in this
- 1:21:01is disgusting. Thing is, like, it's not just
- 1:21:05that they try and make him out to be like some sort of
- 1:21:06terrorist or whatever, they also try and make him out be like a
- 1:21:09rapist and it's really disgusting.
- 1:21:11Listen to this bit. Yeah, Clark said, venturing to
- 1:21:13express an opinion without waiting for Jenny so he could
- 1:21:15follow her lead. The revolution.
- 1:21:17What a glorious day that will be, and we'll all be fighting to
- 1:21:20liberate the world together, won't we?
- 1:21:22MO Amar Watch I think is Fareed's.
- 1:21:25I think he's going to be his first name.
- 1:21:26I'm not sure. I think Fareed might be a
- 1:21:27surname. Of course, my friend.
- 1:21:29Fareed said with a cold smile that didn't possess a shred of
- 1:21:31sincerity. As far as Pierce could see.
- 1:21:33When the day came, if Fareed had his way, a soft little BLOB like
- 1:21:36Clark would be slaughtered with the rest of the infidels, Jenny
- 1:21:39for sure, and maybe even Marjorie would be raped to death
- 1:21:42for the glory of Allah. Pierce knew that a lot of black
- 1:21:45people had fallen for the Muslim line, but he never had.
- 1:21:47There was such a thing as taking the enemy of my enemy.
- 1:21:50Is my friend too far? No.
- 1:21:52If Farid and the guys like him ever captured any real power,
- 1:21:55Pierce wanted to be as far away as possible when that happened.
- 1:21:59It's just it must be exhausting to live this way and think this
- 1:22:02nonsense all the time. Right?
- 1:22:04It just. Yeah.
- 1:22:05Clearly whoever wrote this book has never been around an actual
- 1:22:08Muslim person in their life because, yeah, I've definitely
- 1:22:11been critical of a lot of the more fundamentalist and extreme
- 1:22:16Muslim beliefs before. I've got videos about it.
- 1:22:18Absolutely. Like there was this one book,
- 1:22:21because obviously I make books about like certain extremist
- 1:22:24Christian ideas and stuff and like, you know, the ones that
- 1:22:27especially perpetrate rape culture and everything.
- 1:22:30But I, I did one once about it was something about like how to
- 1:22:34be like a good Muslim woman or something.
- 1:22:36And it took these quotes from the yeah, it took these quotes
- 1:22:39from the Koran and often took them really out of context or
- 1:22:42kind of took the most extreme ones and like then took them to
- 1:22:46the extreme. And it was telling women you
- 1:22:47have to do this and this and this and subservient.
- 1:22:50And if you don't do this, you'll get stoned.
- 1:22:52But, and obviously not all Muslims believe that.
- 1:22:54I think, I think we can all agree that's just not the case
- 1:22:57for the majority of people. And they're taking these ideas
- 1:23:00are very outdated because there's similar ones in the
- 1:23:02Bible. Absolutely.
- 1:23:03But there are extremists in all religion, well, in most
- 1:23:06religions that can believe this stuff, and I'm always going to
- 1:23:08be critical of them. But I don't think you can talk
- 1:23:10every single person in a religion with the same brush.
- 1:23:13Just like there's some bad actors who are atheists, there's
- 1:23:17going to be bad actors who are Christian and Muslim and
- 1:23:20numerous other religions. But there's also a lot of good
- 1:23:23people who believe those things. I just feel like we can't just
- 1:23:26demonise an entire religion because of the minority, you
- 1:23:29know, and we can criticise some of the ideas of the religion
- 1:23:32without having to turn the people who follow it into these
- 1:23:35over the top offensive caricatures, you know?
- 1:23:38Anyway, nothing actually happens in this chapter except to make a
- 1:23:40bunch of students seem comically evil.
- 1:23:42There's some nonsense about the liberal police officer who
- 1:23:46thinks all fascists should be, in his words, rounded up and
- 1:23:49shipped out or dealt with in some other way.
- 1:23:52And I I find it really revealing that so many Republicans just
- 1:23:55assume that everyone on the left thinks the same way they do.
- 1:23:58Like they are very much as we've seen in America right now, like
- 1:24:02they're like, if you disagree with us, if you're not like us,
- 1:24:05if you're not part of the in Group, then we want you sent
- 1:24:07away or killed, right? Because we're seeing that, like,
- 1:24:10with the way ICE are rounding up so many immigrants and treating
- 1:24:15them so poorly and so awfully, and how when, even, like,
- 1:24:20American citizens get in the way, a lot of them are getting
- 1:24:22killed, right, or hurt or injured or just treated badly.
- 1:24:25So I feel like the Republican author here projecting that onto
- 1:24:29the liberals in the book. It's just, it's very telling,
- 1:24:32isn't it? It absolutely is.
- 1:24:34Then Jake goes for another meeting with the university
- 1:24:36president. Because this book is repetitive
- 1:24:39and poorly structured. And I guess they had a page
- 1:24:42count they needed to reach. And when he's confronted about
- 1:24:45being in another violent incident, he replies, no
- 1:24:48offence, Sir, but that wasn't violence.
- 1:24:50That guy might as well have been trying to play Patty cake with
- 1:24:53me. It's like, Nate, violence is
- 1:24:55violence and does not belong on a uni campus, whether you've
- 1:24:58seen worse or not, you know? And anyway, the president's
- 1:25:01like, I wish you'd never been accepted here, of which, let's
- 1:25:04be honest, like a man in his position would never actually
- 1:25:06say that. He's just all opening himself up
- 1:25:08to lawsuits if he does. Like it's so unrealistic.
- 1:25:11And then Jake is like, ha, ha, ha, ha.
- 1:25:13But you had to because my and as rich, which is something as well
- 1:25:16rich kid would say, isn't it? But it doesn't make him likeable
- 1:25:18at all. And then another line which has
- 1:25:21aged like milk. Jake says I don't hate anybody.
- 1:25:24Look around at the rest of the country, Sir.
- 1:25:26The stock market's up, unemployment's down.
- 1:25:29The economy is growing at a nice rate around the world.
- 1:25:32Other countries respect us again.
- 1:25:33It's like, come on, Trump near destroyed America the first time
- 1:25:37round and now he's back. His actions are having an even
- 1:25:40bigger negative effect than ever.
- 1:25:43And let's be honest, no one around the world respects the US
- 1:25:46right now. No one respects Donald Trump.
- 1:25:48We all think he's massive laughing stock, but also that
- 1:25:50he's dangerous and he's just ruining the economy for
- 1:25:54everyone. It's this is aged like milk.
- 1:25:56Absolutely. And I'll remind you again, this
- 1:25:58book was written during his first runners president.
- 1:26:02And so now in his second, it's like we know this is nonsense.
- 1:26:06The university president responds with, you mean they you
- 1:26:09mean they fear what the lunatic in the White House might do.
- 1:26:11Facts love this. And Jake says with a smile, a
- 1:26:15little fear can be a healthy thing, which is a horrifying
- 1:26:18thing to say, isn't it? And also, no, nothing Trump has
- 1:26:22ever done or continues to do can ever be described as healthy.
- 1:26:25Let's be real, the president threatens to make stuff up to
- 1:26:28get Jake kicked out of uni, which again, someone in his
- 1:26:31position would never say. This is entirely unbelievable,
- 1:26:34but Jake thinks he probably could.
- 1:26:36After all, the left specialised in banding together and spinning
- 1:26:39false narratives. The mainstream media had been
- 1:26:42doing it for decades. They took pride in being able to
- 1:26:44tell the public what to think, whether the so-called news they
- 1:26:47peddled bought any real resemblance to the truth or not.
- 1:26:50They claimed that Hillary Clinton was the most qualified
- 1:26:52candidate for president in the history of the country.
- 1:26:55Hadn't they? God, again, it's so ironic that
- 1:26:58this was written at a time when they had and now currently have
- 1:27:01a president who just makes up nonsense off the top of his head
- 1:27:04and claims it's a fact. Like I, I would say Trump has
- 1:27:08been the worst presidential candidate ever for just
- 1:27:11spreading such blatant misinformation.
- 1:27:13And I mean, look, I'm, I'm no Clinton fan in general, right?
- 1:27:16But even I know she was far more qualified than Trump ever was.
- 1:27:20I don't believe she's the most qualified candidate ever like
- 1:27:22that. Not, not by a long way.
- 1:27:23But more qualified than Trump, yes.
- 1:27:26I mean, I would be more qualified than Trump and I'm
- 1:27:29English and know nothing, so says a lot, doesn't it?
- 1:27:33And I mean, I say all this as someone with literally no horse
- 1:27:35in the race. I'm an English person who never
- 1:27:39has never will, never can vote in America.
- 1:27:41Yeah, Like, that doesn't affect me other than like, your
- 1:27:45elections don't affect me other on other than on like the global
- 1:27:48scale, like when Trump screws up and it puts petrol prices up all
- 1:27:51over the world and food prices and so on and so on.
- 1:27:53And again, I would say that like, politically, I don't
- 1:27:55really fall into either of your like Republican or Democratic
- 1:27:59ideologies as such. Like in the UKI have been a
- 1:28:02green voter for pretty much all of the last 15 years.
- 1:28:06I think there's just one year in London.
- 1:28:07I voted Labour instead because I just prefer the local candidate.
- 1:28:11But generally I'm a green voter through and through.
- 1:28:14And like the area of Leeds where I live the last six years we've
- 1:28:17just got a green candidate in and stuff and I I love that.
- 1:28:20So my point is, I have no horse in the race.
- 1:28:22Even I know this author is talking nonsense.
- 1:28:25Anyway, not the point. Throughout all there's slight
- 1:28:27mentions of the maintenance team.
- 1:28:28You know maintenance team. That and so silly, the anti for
- 1:28:33terrorists who are digging outside buildings across campus.
- 1:28:37They're wandering through the library.
- 1:28:39Cool, OK, they're clearly putting their plan into action,
- 1:28:42and I'll say now their plan is stupid as hell.
- 1:28:45It makes no sense, but OK. Other than this, not a lot's
- 1:28:48happening. Jake goes to the library to meet
- 1:28:50Natalie, and then in chapter 22, Police Chief Man Frank goes to
- 1:28:54the maintenance room for reasons, I guess because of what
- 1:28:58needed him to, and he sees the shoe on the floor through the
- 1:29:00window, so he panics. And then he breaks down the
- 1:29:03door, finds a dead body, but only one, not the other four,
- 1:29:06and is about to call for backup when conveniently, someone
- 1:29:09attacks him from behind. They fight.
- 1:29:12It's a scuffle. Frank ends up stabbing his
- 1:29:15attack in the chest and calls for help when it's walkie-talkie
- 1:29:18and then the chapter ends. But back to Jake and Natalie in
- 1:29:20the library. And while Jake's there, he
- 1:29:24spotted a familiar face and recognised the guy who had given
- 1:29:27him the unedited video of one of his confrontations earlier.
- 1:29:31PS Connors PS Was sitting with a group of students, one of whom
- 1:29:34was a young Middle Eastern guy. This is awful.
- 1:29:38Listen to this. Jake knew a lot of people would
- 1:29:40say it was racist of him, but whenever he saw somebody like
- 1:29:43that, he always felt himself tense up inside for a second.
- 1:29:47Too many people who looked like that guy had shot at him or
- 1:29:50tried to blow him up. Once you'd lived with something
- 1:29:52like that for months, it took a long time for the instincts
- 1:29:55developed during such an experience to fade.
- 1:29:57Yeah, that is racist. Like my granddad, who he died
- 1:30:01before I was born. I've heard a lot of stories
- 1:30:02about him, Right. He fought in, I believe it was
- 1:30:05World War 2. And he had horrific PTSD when he
- 1:30:08came out, came back, we're talking like, nightmares every
- 1:30:11night and just like panic attacks and all sorts.
- 1:30:13And obviously he was shot at by a lot of white German people,
- 1:30:16but he wasn't scared of every white person he saw after that.
- 1:30:20He was obviously scared of like loud noises and bangs and
- 1:30:22fireworks and he had nightmares but he wasn't scared of white
- 1:30:26people because when you attribute that fear like to a
- 1:30:30race that is racist, you know I. Anyway, we go back to foster the
- 1:30:35bad guy who is now changed into regular clothes and him and his
- 1:30:38Co conspirators are all heading to the library.
- 1:30:41We also learn more about his back story and motivation and it
- 1:30:45doesn't really make sense, I'll be honest.
- 1:30:48So. He's super duper duper, duper,
- 1:30:50duper duper liberal and he used to be a college student at this
- 1:30:53college but everyone there hated him because he was on the
- 1:30:56scholarship and he was poor, he says.
- 1:30:58It hadn't taken him long, however, to realise that they
- 1:31:00loathed him too. Because he was poor.
- 1:31:03Their commitment to diversity and equality didn't extend to
- 1:31:05boys from squalid little oil field oil field towns like the
- 1:31:09one Foster came from. No matter how smart they were.
- 1:31:11With his passion for learning and disdain for sports and hard
- 1:31:13work and his liberal notions, he'd never fit in back in his
- 1:31:17hometown. It should have been different at
- 1:31:19Kelton, but although the reasons were different, most of the
- 1:31:21people there seemed to despise him as well.
- 1:31:23He'd joined all the right groups, said all the right
- 1:31:25things and firmly believed what he was saying.
- 1:31:27But none of it seemed to make any difference.
- 1:31:30So apparently this means he's evil now.
- 1:31:32I I guess, I guess it's like a matter of in the sources eyes,
- 1:31:36what's more evil than a liberal person, a poor liberal person.
- 1:31:40So they've not just made the bad guys in this liberals, but poor
- 1:31:44people. And the hero of this story is a
- 1:31:48rich right wing nepo babe. It's, Oh my God, it's so, it's
- 1:31:53so stupid. So, so stupid.
- 1:31:55So Foster goes into the library because he's got a man on the
- 1:31:58inside working there, apparently.
- 1:32:00And here's a question, do American University libraries
- 1:32:03not need an ID card to get in and out?
- 1:32:04Because in the UK you do. And if not, like, that's crazy.
- 1:32:08Like, OK, I guess he's walking into the library.
- 1:32:11They all can. And he goes into the toilets on
- 1:32:14the 1st floor, which to US English, I believe means the
- 1:32:17ground floor. So let's remember that, that
- 1:32:20that distinction, that distinction has got me lost in
- 1:32:22so many American hotels. It's embarrassing for me, but
- 1:32:26anyway, on this ground floor bathroom, first floor bathroom,
- 1:32:28he locks the door, he locks the door behind him and he kills
- 1:32:31around the man who's in there because why not, I guess OK, as
- 1:32:35you do. We're like 50% into the book now
- 1:32:38and our death count is at 5 minute in.
- 1:32:39His guys. Bad guy who betrayed the antifa
- 1:32:42terrorists. Bad guy that the policeman
- 1:32:44killed. Random student in the toilet.
- 1:32:46So I believe that's eight so far.
- 1:32:49In the ceiling of the loos. He's got a gun hidden and it
- 1:32:51says inside. Inside the draw spring bag was a
- 1:32:54Glock 9 millimetre pistol with a loaded magazine already in the
- 1:32:56butt, plus eight more loaded magazines.
- 1:32:59There were other ammunition caches scattered around the
- 1:33:01library if they became necessary.
- 1:33:02His people had been working on this for weeks, planning and
- 1:33:05patience. Those were the keys to his
- 1:33:06operation. And I'm confused like why did he
- 1:33:08not just have the gun with him anyway?
- 1:33:10It's not like this campus has any like security.
- 1:33:12There's no metal detectors around.
- 1:33:14Like Jake's been carrying around a gun secretly for weeks with no
- 1:33:18consequence. He bragged about it earlier so
- 1:33:20why did this guy need to hide a small pistol in the loose?
- 1:33:23In fact, how did he even get it into the loose to hide it there
- 1:33:25in the 1st place if he's starting to hide it I don't
- 1:33:29understand. And also why did he have to kill
- 1:33:31the student in there? Like he could have just waited
- 1:33:33for him to leave, locked the door behind in there, whoop got
- 1:33:35the gun out or even probably got the gun out while he was there
- 1:33:38and just been like hey I've got a gun and stay quiet leave.
- 1:33:40Also I don't I don't know, none of this makes any sense.
- 1:33:45This is the most irrationally stupid book I've ever read.
- 1:33:49Anyway, for some reason, most of this university library is
- 1:33:54underground. I don't know why.
- 1:33:57It's like all of it, like mostly isn't a basement level.
- 1:34:01So there's like 3 or 4 floors up and then the ground floor in a
- 1:34:04basement level. And most of their like students
- 1:34:07are on the basement level. For some.
- 1:34:08I don't, I don't know. I do not know why It's OK,
- 1:34:12right? We're just going with this.
- 1:34:15So he's got a bunch of people in the library with him and he goes
- 1:34:19downstairs to the basement level and he shoots a light and he
- 1:34:22tells everyone to do as they're told or they'll die.
- 1:34:25The irony in the author here who is a right winger who supports
- 1:34:29guns for all and is against gun control making the bad guys in
- 1:34:34his story who are apparently pro gun control use guns to commit
- 1:34:39some sort of mass shooting slash hostage event in the library.
- 1:34:42Like this makes no sense. Like if you look at stats right,
- 1:34:45only around 4% of mass shooters by extremists between 2012 and
- 1:34:502021 in America were left-leaning. 75% were right
- 1:34:54wing. So the choice to make a left
- 1:34:56wing extremist carry out a mass shooting just seems absolutely
- 1:35:01ridiculous and not realistic. And again, it feels like
- 1:35:04projection from these right wingers because they're like,
- 1:35:06well, this is what we do. So obviously the left ward as
- 1:35:08well is it? It makes no sense.
- 1:35:10But amongst all the chaos, the Liberal police officer who is
- 1:35:13now in the library as well, he gets knocked out immediately.
- 1:35:17So I think, I think you can kind of see where this is going,
- 1:35:19right? If you're right wing, your hero
- 1:35:22will survive this or at least have like a hero's death.
- 1:35:24And if you're liberal, you're weak and will die.
- 1:35:27Pretty much what happens, we'll see One of the students tries to
- 1:35:31run at one of the attackers, slash hostage takers, get shot
- 1:35:35in the chest. So our death count is now up to
- 1:35:369. Jake at this point has seen all
- 1:35:39this happen and he's dived on Natalie to protect her, but he's
- 1:35:41like, Oh no, I don't have my gun with me today or I'd be totally
- 1:35:46returning fire right now. Like come on, you've bragged
- 1:35:49about carrying your gun around all the time, why do you not
- 1:35:51have it today? I'll tell you why for the sake
- 1:35:53of the plot. The Yeah this part of the
- 1:35:56chapter reads. So there was a lot of firepower
- 1:35:58in here, at least relatively speaking.
- 1:36:00Because Kelton College, like a lot of private colleges and
- 1:36:02universities, was a so-called gun free zone.
- 1:36:05The whole concept was one of the stupidest things Jake had ever
- 1:36:08heard of, a glaring neon sign of an invitation for evil to March
- 1:36:11right in and have its way unchecked.
- 1:36:13But that was the situation, and wishing it was different was
- 1:36:15pointless. More than likely, nobody in the
- 1:36:18building was carrying. Even the campus cops who worked
- 1:36:20with Frank Mckaney just carried stun guns, nothing lethal.
- 1:36:24Which meant that if Jake was going to fight back successfully
- 1:36:26against these bastards, he needed to get his hands on one
- 1:36:29of their guns. It's almost like just telling
- 1:36:31people, hey, don't carry guns isn't enough, is it?
- 1:36:35It's almost you need something like, I don't know, off the top
- 1:36:37of my head, laws around gun control to restrict the
- 1:36:40manufacturer and use. No.
- 1:36:41Yeah. Yeah.
- 1:36:42OK. Do you know why we don't need to
- 1:36:44label places as gun free zones in the UK?
- 1:36:46Because no one has a gun. The average person cannot and
- 1:36:49does not carry one. We don't need to specify this as
- 1:36:52a gun free zone because it's just not normal to carry a gun
- 1:36:55around. It's not common.
- 1:36:56That's why our per capita rate of gun deaths in the UK is just
- 1:37:00nought point. Nought 1/3 compared to America
- 1:37:03or the USA's 4.31 per 100,000 people.
- 1:37:07Obviously the USA has more gun deaths per day than we have in
- 1:37:11an entire year. And sure it's a bigger country
- 1:37:14but your population is about 5 times figs in ours and yet you
- 1:37:18have over 300 times as many gun deaths.
- 1:37:21It's almost like, and call me crazy here, almost like gun
- 1:37:24control works wild. I know the idea they're pushing
- 1:37:28in this book is well you need good people with guns to stop
- 1:37:31the bad people in guns. It's crazy when the solution
- 1:37:34could just be oh you stop the bad people getting guns in the
- 1:37:371st place. No because even a lot of the gun
- 1:37:40deaths though they're from so-called good people with guns
- 1:37:43when you have accidents or something.
- 1:37:45So I anyway, sorry, I'm always going to be pro gun control.
- 1:37:49Always. Anyway, what does this group
- 1:37:51want? They say it's really very
- 1:37:53simple. The only way anyone leases
- 1:37:55campus today without more bloodshed is if $100 million is
- 1:37:59transferred into an offshore bank account, the number of
- 1:38:02which I'll provide to the authorities in due time.
- 1:38:04There's that's a one with eight zeros after it.
- 1:38:07For those of you who believe math is racist.
- 1:38:10The man chuckled. Of all things.
- 1:38:12And I know there are some of you in here right now who believe
- 1:38:14that. Trust me, I can see your point.
- 1:38:17Racism really is systemic in this country.
- 1:38:20God. Let's be real, that is pennies
- 1:38:23to most of these billionaires that are at this uni right?
- 1:38:25So it's not really asking a lot is it?
- 1:38:26But like, what the hell is that last part?
- 1:38:28No one genuinely thinks maths is racist and this is not what
- 1:38:32systemic racism is referring to at all.
- 1:38:34Like what? What is this nonsense?
- 1:38:36He goes on. Which brings me to my next
- 1:38:39point. We're not demanding that the
- 1:38:40government pay $100 million. No, it needs to come from the
- 1:38:44families of students here at Kelton.
- 1:38:46There are approximately 3000 students enrolled here.
- 1:38:49That means, and again I'll help out the maths challenged among
- 1:38:52you, that each of their families would have to come up with less
- 1:38:54than $35,000. He smirked, waved his free hand
- 1:38:58and the gun in his other hand never wavered as he went on.
- 1:39:01Most of the families you come from are 1 percenters.
- 1:39:04Old money, dirty money, money made on the backs of common
- 1:39:07people, run out of them along with their sweat and blood.
- 1:39:09He didn't sound quite so self controlled now.
- 1:39:11Is it heated up? Seriously, you're going to try
- 1:39:13and tell me that your parents can't just sit down right now
- 1:39:15and write a cheque for that much and never miss it?
- 1:39:17You know I'm right. Yeah, you know what?
- 1:39:19I kind of see his point. I mean, no, I'll never spot
- 1:39:22killing or blackmail or waving guns around or violence like
- 1:39:24that. But honestly, I couldn't care
- 1:39:26less about millionaires or billionaires losing a little
- 1:39:29tiny bit of the wealth they hoard.
- 1:39:30You know, I'll say again, there's no such thing as an
- 1:39:33ethical millionaire or billionaire.
- 1:39:35You, you can't become a billionaire without exploiting
- 1:39:38people along the way, whether that's the people making
- 1:39:40products you sell or people spending far more money on you
- 1:39:45than they should, or maybe overpriced service charges or
- 1:39:49something like that. It just there's, there's, there
- 1:39:50has to be exploit exploitation involved somewhere.
- 1:39:54The guy might be a killer, but what he said was true, Jake
- 1:39:57thought. A semester's tuition, housing,
- 1:39:59and other expenses can easily add up to that or much more.
- 1:40:01A lot of parents paid it again and again so their darling
- 1:40:04little snowflakes could get degrees in intersectional
- 1:40:06feminism or gender studies, although in this day and age it
- 1:40:09would have to be gender fluid studies.
- 1:40:11That this also does not know what gender fluid means, do
- 1:40:13they? It doesn't make sense.
- 1:40:15Anyway, Bad Guy goes on to say that he's not asking for money
- 1:40:17from the families of scholarship kids or poor families, only the
- 1:40:20filthy rich. And again, I kind of think he
- 1:40:22has a point here. Well, if you subtract the
- 1:40:24families who truly can't afford it and the ones who are too
- 1:40:26uncaring to pitch in because they never pitched in to pay
- 1:40:29their fair share of taxes, did they?
- 1:40:31And the family, you might have more than one kid attending
- 1:40:33here. Can't forget them.
- 1:40:35I figure that leaves us with about 2000 families that need to
- 1:40:37come up with some cash. They only have to average 50
- 1:40:40grand a piece. And I know there are a lot of
- 1:40:42them who can do more than that. And I want documentation of
- 1:40:45where every penny comes from. That's very important.
- 1:40:47No tax dollars ripped off from the middle classes are going
- 1:40:50into this account. Only money from the oligarchs
- 1:40:52who have taken over this country.
- 1:40:53Yeah, they want us to hate him, but I kind of don't.
- 1:40:56And I'm not saying I'm on his side here, but I'm not not on
- 1:40:59his side. They end by saying that they've
- 1:41:02also planted bombs all over campus that they'll detonate if
- 1:41:05anything goes wrong. So, yeah, OK, he, he lost me
- 1:41:08there. I guess that and with the
- 1:41:10murdering. But honestly, I can't.
- 1:41:14Isn't this so bizarre that they're like, the left are evil
- 1:41:17because non liberals And then he makes their motivation wanting
- 1:41:22to like steal and hoard millions of dollars, which is what they'd
- 1:41:25normally be like protesting against.
- 1:41:28So it just it doesn't make sense.
- 1:41:29It's not a realistic motivation for a liberal villain, is it?
- 1:41:33OK, Meanwhile police chief man who's been passed out is awake
- 1:41:37again, and another police officer's with him and EMTs and
- 1:41:40he's watching this live stream of Foster in the library, which
- 1:41:43he labels as the usual left wing drivel about how evil 1
- 1:41:48percenters were responsible for everything that was wrong in the
- 1:41:50world and oh God, here's some nonsense, right?
- 1:41:53Are you ready for this? As it happened, Mccainy actually
- 1:41:56did believe that there was too much income inequality in the
- 1:41:58country. For the most part, though, it
- 1:42:00wasn't the high earners who drove the economy and paid 95%
- 1:42:03of the taxes who were responsible for it.
- 1:42:05In Mccainy's opinion, the blame lay with the Democrats.
- 1:42:08Of course it did. And some politicians who called
- 1:42:11themselves Republicans, who had increased taxes again and again
- 1:42:14and again, who had loaded down the average working stiff with
- 1:42:17astronomically high health insurance costs, who had over
- 1:42:20regulated many small businesses to the brink of extinction.
- 1:42:23Those are the people who had done their best to grind the
- 1:42:25middle class out of existence so that most of the population
- 1:42:29would be condemned to sucking on the government's teeth forever,
- 1:42:31and therefore would have no choice but to continue voting
- 1:42:34those politicians and others of their stripes into office in
- 1:42:38perpetuity. Those with vermin in human form
- 1:42:41who had created the income gap. Sorry, but this is just wrong.
- 1:42:45Admittedly the top 5% of earners do pay the most tax, as they
- 1:42:49should in America. But that's only around 60% of
- 1:42:53all income tax, not 95%. And we all know for a fact that
- 1:42:56the very highest earners and not the ones contributing to that,
- 1:43:00they use all kinds of tax avoidance and tax dodging
- 1:43:02methods to not pay taxes. Not to mention corporations who
- 1:43:06go out of their way to avoid paying like 1/10 as much tax as
- 1:43:10they should. You know, there absolutely is an
- 1:43:13issue with middle classes disappearing though, but that's
- 1:43:15not the fault of Democrats. It's because the highest earners
- 1:43:18are hoarding a bunch of wealth, not actually putting it back
- 1:43:21into the economy, not paying their staff fairly, and often
- 1:43:24stealing from small businesses. It's one of the reasons I really
- 1:43:27like voting Green, because they have a policy they want to
- 1:43:29introduce where the CEO of a company can only earn 10 times
- 1:43:32as much as his lowest paid employee.
- 1:43:34And I think that is completely fair.
- 1:43:36You know, maybe not that exactly, but some version of it
- 1:43:39seems like a really damn good idea.
- 1:43:41It seems completely unfair to me that you can have people making
- 1:43:43millions of year and they're earning that money because
- 1:43:46people who are barely on minimum wage are scraping by and
- 1:43:50essentially being exploited. You know, again, sorry, they're
- 1:43:52going back to America. Like it's because Republicans
- 1:43:54keep giving the 1% help and tax cuts and making those with
- 1:43:58middle incomes pay more instead. It's because there's not enough
- 1:44:01help or social care to help the lowest income people get out of
- 1:44:04debt or get a quality education or have or have access to the
- 1:44:08resources they need in order to earn more and put back in and
- 1:44:11put more back into the economy in the end.
- 1:44:13And God, don't even talk to me about health insurance like the
- 1:44:16idea of a private healthcare system is predatory and vile and
- 1:44:19you cannot, you cannot convince me otherwise.
- 1:44:22You should not have to pay for your health.
- 1:44:24That should be a basic human right.
- 1:44:26It's one of the reasons again, I'm so scared for the UK at the
- 1:44:28moment. Reform are getting more and more
- 1:44:29power and their plan isn't to. And their plan is to entirely
- 1:44:33destroy the NHS and privatise it slowly and subtly with their
- 1:44:37policies and it's terrifying. Nationalised healthcare isn't
- 1:44:40about getting people to rely on the government.
- 1:44:42It's not making sure that every single person, no matter who you
- 1:44:44are, what you do, where you come from, what your health condition
- 1:44:48is or even whether you have a legal right to be in the UK or
- 1:44:51not, every single person should get free, high quality, easily
- 1:44:56accessible healthcare as and when they need it.
- 1:45:00I'll say it again, that is a basic human right in my mind.
- 1:45:02It's something that I am personally more than happy to
- 1:45:04keep paying my National Insurance and taxes for.
- 1:45:07Not just so I get free healthcare, but so everyone in
- 1:45:10this country can get free healthcare.
- 1:45:11And if that means I pay in more than I essentially get out so
- 1:45:15other people can benefit, good. That is what we want.
- 1:45:18A health emergency should never ever put someone in debt.
- 1:45:21People should never have to choose between paying rent or
- 1:45:24paying for medical care, paying for food, or paying for medical
- 1:45:26care. And I don't think that should be
- 1:45:28controversial. I just, sorry, OK I'm getting
- 1:45:30off topic. My point is the theory in this
- 1:45:32book in this. Part of the book.
- 1:45:34Is so idiotic I can barely contain my frustration.
- 1:45:37And it gets even more nonsensey after this.
- 1:45:39Right. So remember Jake's advisor or
- 1:45:43whatever he was? Motenbolt, I think his name was?
- 1:45:46Or Motenbolt, I can't remember. It's.
- 1:45:48Oh, yeah, no, it's coming from my notes.
- 1:45:50Anyway, he's in the library at this time, and he just had a
- 1:45:53conversation with Jake outside saying that he was not against
- 1:45:55him, which is enough that maybe he'll do something marginally
- 1:45:59heroic in the future. Who's.
- 1:46:01Yeah, he does. He does.
- 1:46:03At this point he realises what a silly little liberal he is.
- 1:46:05He's just so weak and he wishes a big, strong Jake was there to
- 1:46:09protect him. Not even joking.
- 1:46:12He also, and I quote, he thought about his ancestors too.
- 1:46:15Then ever since he'd been old enough to understand the evils
- 1:46:18of imperialism, he'd been ashamed of the role some of his
- 1:46:21forebears had played in colonising Africa.
- 1:46:23They had been brutal rapists and exploiters and killers.
- 1:46:25But if one of them had been able to come down through the mists
- 1:46:28of time and stand between Montenbolt and that gunman right
- 1:46:31now, he would have welcomed the all reprobate with open arms.
- 1:46:35Sorry, what? And of course, we need a little
- 1:46:37bit of copaganda too. Apparently.
- 1:46:39Normally Montenbolt thought of the police as racist, trigger
- 1:46:42happy, power mad bullies just looking for an excuse to shoot
- 1:46:45innocent black men. He was a fervent supporter of
- 1:46:48Black Lives Matter. But right now he couldn't wait
- 1:46:50for the cops to get here. Just pathetic at this point,
- 1:46:53isn't it? So anyway, a gunman finds him,
- 1:46:55shoots him, he escapes somehow, throws A bookshelf at him, like
- 1:46:59a whole bookshelf as you do, And gunman drops the gun.
- 1:47:02Advise the guy, picks it up blindly, shoots at him, doesn't
- 1:47:05know if he's killed him or not. He has spoiler.
- 1:47:07And then he hides in the ceiling and crawls away as you do.
- 1:47:10That was fun. We go back to Jake, and Jake
- 1:47:13wasn't surprised to hear the bomb threat come out of the
- 1:47:15man's mouth. He knew enough about the radical
- 1:47:17left movement to know they'd always been bombers, going all
- 1:47:19the way back to the 50s and 60s. That was just part of their
- 1:47:22methodology. Champion free speech by shutting
- 1:47:25up everybody who's doesn't agree with you.
- 1:47:27Advocate for equal rights by taking other people's rights
- 1:47:29away from them. Protest violence by blowing up a
- 1:47:32bunch of people and stuff. Cowards at heart, every damn one
- 1:47:36of them. I struggled to read that because
- 1:47:38I was laughing so much, because this is just ridiculous.
- 1:47:41Every friend that I've read this to has been like what the hell?
- 1:47:45I was literally reading this backstage the other day to JD
- 1:47:48Longest John's show and you just couldn't believe it either.
- 1:47:52It's just. So I looked up statistics around
- 1:47:56this and according to the Centre for Strategic and International
- 1:47:59Studies Warfare, Irregular Threats and Terrorism programme,
- 1:48:03that's a really big long name and there are considerably more
- 1:48:06terrorist attacks carried out by right wing extremists than the
- 1:48:10left. They're going to say that in
- 1:48:12recent years the United States has seen an increase in the
- 1:48:14number of left wing terrorist attacks and plots, although such
- 1:48:18violence has risen from very low levels and remains much lower
- 1:48:21than historical levels of violence carried out by right
- 1:48:24wing and jihadist attackers. I do think as well the line
- 1:48:27about going all the way back to the 50s and 60s, that's a bit of
- 1:48:31mistake. That's a bit of a mistake as
- 1:48:32well. I think it's supposed to be
- 1:48:34referring to the Weather Underground which with a small
- 1:48:37extreme left group which formed in 1969 but in the they bombed
- 1:48:42the statue and some banks. But The thing is, and I might be
- 1:48:45wrong so correct me if I'm wrong here, but from my research no
- 1:48:47one actually died in those bombings except three of their
- 1:48:50own members in an accident. Like no members of the public
- 1:48:53died. However I did look at overall
- 1:48:55stats of right and wing left inspired domestic terrorist
- 1:48:57attacks in the USA. And again I might be wrong but I
- 1:49:01couldn't find any examples of bombings by the left after the
- 1:49:0480s. So any terrorist attacks that
- 1:49:06there were weren't bombings. However, there were bombings by
- 1:49:10right wing extremists and another summary I found said
- 1:49:13that between 2008 and 2016 there were 115 for right inspired
- 1:49:19terrorist incidents in the USA. 29% of those resulted in
- 1:49:23fatalities and there were 79 deaths in total.
- 1:49:26Whereas in that same period there are only 19 far left
- 1:49:29inspired terrorist attacks with only two causing fatalities,
- 1:49:32totalling 7 people. And again, that's just general
- 1:49:35terrorist attacks, not bombing. Whereas right inspired ones
- 1:49:39remix of bombings and other attacks.
- 1:49:40So I have I have no idea why this idea that the left are
- 1:49:43violent cowards who always bomb everyone has come from as I
- 1:49:46cannot find any evidence of this at all.
- 1:49:49And it's just laughably funny. And we're back to Jake and we
- 1:49:51get the story of him killing in his words, a fanatic soldier in
- 1:49:55the Middle East, saying it was the right thing to do.
- 1:49:58So this is the 10th on page killing of the book so far,
- 1:50:01lovely and and it's pretty, pretty graphic.
- 1:50:04I'll be honest. There's more nonsense, as
- 1:50:07Fareed, the one Muslim character, remember, approaches
- 1:50:09A gunman and oh God, this is so. He says.
- 1:50:13Do not shoot, brother. You and I are on the same side.
- 1:50:16We both believe that this materialistic American Society
- 1:50:19is the source of everything that is wrong in the world.
- 1:50:22We would both like to see it replaced by a caliphate ruled by
- 1:50:25Sharia law. Fareed shrugged.
- 1:50:27What would you prefer? He asked.
- 1:50:28A godless communist government? That argument is an endless 1,
- 1:50:32and it can be resumed at another time.
- 1:50:33What is important now is that we would both like to see this
- 1:50:36country full of heathen capitalists and imperialists,
- 1:50:39brought low. Is that not true?
- 1:50:41Let me join you in your righteous anger on this den of
- 1:50:44thieves and whoremongers, Farid said.
- 1:50:47Let me help you destroy this land of of Kardashians.
- 1:50:51Give me a gun. I can't.
- 1:50:54I can't. No, I would say this, but once
- 1:50:58again, I don't think this author, whoever it is, has ever
- 1:51:01met a Muslim person in their life.
- 1:51:03I just, I, I don't believe it. I do not.
- 1:51:06Anyway, he gets laughed at by the gunman and as the reader and
- 1:51:09then Fareed and Pierce start arguing with each other as you
- 1:51:12do, Pierce is like I'm a rich one percenter.
- 1:51:14These gunmen hate me. And Fareed says to him, and
- 1:51:17again, this is shocking. You are no true black man.
- 1:51:20If you were, you would embrace the Islamic faith and turn
- 1:51:23against your decadent Western culture.
- 1:51:25I always knew. You were a fake.
- 1:51:27On the other side of the table underneath it, Jenny Clark and
- 1:51:30Marjorie were looking at them. Marjorie stared at Pierce and
- 1:51:33said, Uncle Tom, Yeah, you're just a What is it?
- 1:51:36Jenny said. Uncle Tom?
- 1:51:38Clark supplied. It's from a book or something, I
- 1:51:40think means a black guy who sucks up to the white
- 1:51:43oppressors. Oh, this is easily.
- 1:51:45One of the. Stupidest, most offensive books
- 1:51:47I've ever read. I can't take this seriously, and
- 1:51:50you shouldn't either. Anyway, just like everyone else,
- 1:51:52Pierce starts wishing for Jake to save everyone, as you do.
- 1:51:55Then we get a chapter about the police chief again, which ends
- 1:51:58with, you guessed it, him wishing Jake was there to save
- 1:52:01the day. What?
- 1:52:02What is it with everyone centring Jake as like the big
- 1:52:06hero and like, oh I don't know, just like someone to fear?
- 1:52:09Like where has this come from? I don't know.
- 1:52:12Anyway, so pathetic. Some FBI guy called Graham shows
- 1:52:15up, plus his bomb sniffing dogs which are never mentioned again
- 1:52:18I don't think. There's also a Homeland Security
- 1:52:21person called Agent Vega who is a woman, and apparently it's
- 1:52:25important to note that she is not beautiful because apparently
- 1:52:28that makes her lesser in the eyes of this author.
- 1:52:30The police chief doesn't like her and because she's a woman
- 1:52:33with power, she has to be shown to be incapable by making crazy
- 1:52:36states statements. Like Vega said, he's bluffing
- 1:52:39about the bombs and then after a couple of lines, a bomb goes off
- 1:52:42because women always have to be undermined, don't they?
- 1:52:44But what's funny is that like, later, Jake goes on about how he
- 1:52:48thinks he's bluffing about the bombs.
- 1:52:50Except he's not like, laughed out by all the characters or
- 1:52:53under mind. He's actually like, proven to be
- 1:52:54right. So this is stupid.
- 1:52:56In the next chapter, a gunman comes to collect Jake and
- 1:52:58Natalie and asks them to move. When Jake is snarky to the
- 1:53:02gunman, the gunman warns him to show up or he'll shoot him.
- 1:53:06Oh, and we have to be told that this gunman is black.
- 1:53:08So Jake wonders if the guy had a real reason to hate him or if
- 1:53:12his skin colour and political views were enough to justify
- 1:53:14that hatred. As far as Jake recalled, he had
- 1:53:16never seen this man before. I'm exhausted by how stupid this
- 1:53:19book is. Anyway, Jake decides to cause
- 1:53:21some trouble and make some Islamophobic references too
- 1:53:24because I don't know, God knows why.
- 1:53:26Jake stopped short and said in a loud voice.
- 1:53:28Wait just a damn minute, they're bluffing.
- 1:53:30See what I mean? He can do it and not get laughed
- 1:53:32out, but the woman does. You're not crazy enough to blow
- 1:53:34yourself up along with everybody else.
- 1:53:36Jake said. I can tell that by looking at
- 1:53:37you. You're no martyr.
- 1:53:39You don't believe there are 99 virgins waiting in heaven for
- 1:53:42you. The Middle Eastern looking guy
- 1:53:43standing with Pierce glared at Jake when he said that.
- 1:53:45Jake ignored him. Keep talking.
- 1:53:47The leader said you're smart and I want to hear your thoughts.
- 1:53:50No, you probably don't. Do you honestly believe we
- 1:53:52didn't plant bombs all of this campus?
- 1:53:54Is that what you mean by bluffing?
- 1:53:55That's right, Jake said. You just want everybody to
- 1:53:58believe you did so they'll be too scared to make a move
- 1:54:00against you. So I won't push a button on this
- 1:54:02phone and send out the destination signal.
- 1:54:04Well, do you any good if you do, By now all the cell phone towers
- 1:54:06in the area have been taken offline.
- 1:54:07Jake turned to address the crowd.
- 1:54:09Check your phones, you won't have any service.
- 1:54:11As far as you could tell, nobody did what he said.
- 1:54:13They were too afraid with good reason of the guns pointed at
- 1:54:16them. So the leader, who we obviously
- 1:54:18all Node B foster, cheques his phone.
- 1:54:20No service, but apparently the bombs run on satellite phones or
- 1:54:24something. So he sets one of the bombs off
- 1:54:25for funsies. Jake starts thinking about how
- 1:54:27this man is motivated by money, and he thinks.
- 1:54:30Jake had faced people who are dangerously fanatical when it
- 1:54:32came to their religion or political beliefs.
- 1:54:34And for many on the left, their politics were their religion.
- 1:54:37Not true. But he'd never run into anyone
- 1:54:40who's lust for money could rival this man's.
- 1:54:42That might make him even more dangerous.
- 1:54:44Like sorry but your granddad is a billionaire.
- 1:54:46I'm sure you've met plenty of people with a dangerous loss for
- 1:54:49money, including your own family.
- 1:54:51You don't get to be a billionaire by being ethical,
- 1:54:53remember? And what why is this nonsense
- 1:54:55about the less politics being religion?
- 1:54:56Like there's plenty of religious people who are left-leaning
- 1:54:59anyway. It's just such rubbishes man.
- 1:55:01Also reading this out now and realising how many times this
- 1:55:05book just says so and so said so and so said so it's just said
- 1:55:08said said said. There's no other creative use of
- 1:55:10language in here for like saying how someone said something.
- 1:55:14There's no, you know, he yelled, he screamed, he blah, blah.
- 1:55:17It's just he said, he said, he said.
- 1:55:20I've actually just done a quick search and remember this book is
- 1:55:22262 pages long. How many times do you think the
- 1:55:26word said is used in this book? I'm going to give you a second
- 1:55:29to think about this and have a guess.
- 1:55:30Actually, there's there's a new feature on YouTube where I can
- 1:55:32do like a quiz. So if you can see that on your
- 1:55:35screen, have a guess now and I'll tell you the answer is 500
- 1:55:40and 73573, he says. That's insane, isn't it?
- 1:55:44Oh my gosh. OK, anyway.
- 1:55:46Where were we? Anyway, Jake decides to tackle
- 1:55:48Foster because he was considerably bigger and heavier
- 1:55:52than the leader, so the impact drove the man off his feet and
- 1:55:54toppled him over And then Oh my good word is shake and cheesed.
- 1:55:59Jake gets the gun and threatens Foster, but Natalie sneaks up on
- 1:56:02him and puts a gun to his head and it turns out Natalie is
- 1:56:05actually Lucy, who's working with Foster, except her name
- 1:56:09isn't actually Lucy, that's a code name.
- 1:56:10Her name is Natalie. But.
- 1:56:12She's a bad guy. Apparently I, I think I'd be
- 1:56:15shocked if I cared about any of these characters at all.
- 1:56:18But no, I'm not and I don't. And also, wasn't it kind of
- 1:56:22obvious that she probably double cross him because she refused to
- 1:56:25like speak much about her politics or say what side she
- 1:56:29was really on accepting like a couple of cases And there was
- 1:56:32weirdness about her, like having his phone number without him
- 1:56:35giving it her and stuff. So it just, yeah, I get it.
- 1:56:38Also, I am confused because, like, if she's just going to
- 1:56:40come out and double cross him now, like, why did she just
- 1:56:42spend the last hour lying on the floor with him and all the other
- 1:56:45hostages when she didn't have to?
- 1:56:46It makes no sense. Like, there was literally no
- 1:56:49reason for her to wait. I I don't know.
- 1:56:51Anyway, Jake drops his gun because he's got a gun pointed
- 1:56:53at him and he lets Foster go. And then all of the lights go
- 1:56:56out in the library. And remember, because they're in
- 1:56:58the basement, it's actually dark down there because there's no
- 1:57:00lights. Sorry, there's no windows.
- 1:57:02We go back to the police chief. The explosion didn't kill
- 1:57:04anyone. That's cool.
- 1:57:06There's more putting down the female home security officer,
- 1:57:09You get it. They get all the power on campus
- 1:57:11shut down, which is what we just saw happening in the library.
- 1:57:14And then we cut back to Jake again, and he uses the darkness
- 1:57:16as a chance to grab the gun off. Natalie and I now see why so
- 1:57:22much of the library is in the basement for the sake of the
- 1:57:24plot. Oh God.
- 1:57:27Jake starts running around the library in the dark as you do as
- 1:57:30you do, and all the bad guys start to shoot at him.
- 1:57:32Meanwhile, he didn't let himself think about Natalie and her
- 1:57:34stunning betrayal. It's like, mate, you've known
- 1:57:36him for three days, calm down. Jake runs down the stairs, grabs
- 1:57:39the book to throw out the gunman, which hits his hand just
- 1:57:42as he fires at Jake. Or, you know, some stupid
- 1:57:44miracle that could only happen in fiction.
- 1:57:46And since this guy missed his shot, Jake knocks him down and
- 1:57:50then uses the man as a human shield when the others shoot at
- 1:57:52him. So we're now up to 11 dead, I
- 1:57:55think. Correct me if I'm wrong and
- 1:57:56you've been counting along too. He shoots the second gunman and
- 1:57:59I assume he dies too. So let's count this as 12 deaths
- 1:58:02on page. Jake then starts running up like
- 1:58:05a secondary stairwell and at the third floor, so he's gone.
- 1:58:08Basement first, second, third floor, he hears gunshots, so he
- 1:58:12just bursts through that door. And the chapter ends with, and I
- 1:58:15quote, the pistol gripped in both his hands, ready to deal
- 1:58:18out death. We get back again to Jake's
- 1:58:20advisor crawling around in the ceiling.
- 1:58:22He sneezes. A gunman below him starts
- 1:58:24shouting and shooting at the ceiling.
- 1:58:26Clearly this was all the chaos on the 3rd floor that Jake heard
- 1:58:29right? Advisor man falls out the
- 1:58:31ceiling. Jake immediately shoots the two
- 1:58:33gunmen on that floor who were after him, but not Motenbolt.
- 1:58:36Motenbolt. I can't remember his name, not
- 1:58:38Advisor guy like he thoughts. That's 14 deaths now.
- 1:58:42Jake creeps upon another guy, hits him over the head with his
- 1:58:44gun to knock him out, then locks him in a cupboard as you do.
- 1:58:46He gets all the hostages on that floor to hide together in a room
- 1:58:50while the advisor guards them all with a gun, ready to shoot
- 1:58:53anyone who comes for them. And then Jake heads off again
- 1:58:57to, I quote, clear the rats out of the nest.
- 1:59:00We come back to. Pierce on the basement level,
- 1:59:03who has start to crawl away when all the lights went off.
- 1:59:05He thinks at this. Point I need to fight back.
- 1:59:07I got this. And there were enough prisoners
- 1:59:09here on the library's lower floor that if they all rose up
- 1:59:12at once and struck back against their captors, they would
- 1:59:14overwhelm the gunman. No doubt about that.
- 1:59:17It was possible, even probable, that some of them would lose
- 1:59:19their lives. But that couldn't be helped.
- 1:59:21The alternative was to remain hostages at the mercy of people
- 1:59:24who might well be ruthless enough to slaughter them all.
- 1:59:27Like, wow, wow. Careful, everybody.
- 1:59:29You're starting to sound a little bit like a Marxist there.
- 1:59:32And we all know that's a dirty word in this world.
- 1:59:35But anyway, as Pierce is getting away, Fareed rats him out
- 1:59:38because, you know, reasons I get.
- 1:59:40And you've got to make the Muslim character the bad guy.
- 1:59:42And then Fareed chases after Pierce, tackles him.
- 1:59:46Pierce kicks him in the face and runs off again and decides to
- 1:59:49follow Jake up the stairs. And the pacing of this book is
- 1:59:52so terrible, right? And not not only like the pacing
- 1:59:55but the in world timeline but will.
- 1:59:58OK. Pierce literally saw Jake go
- 2:00:00into the stairwell and immediately followed him in
- 2:00:03right? That little chase with Fareed
- 2:00:04didn't last long, but apparently trained soldier and Superman
- 2:00:08Jake never heard him following him.
- 2:00:10And Pierce didn't appear any of the time he was rolling around
- 2:00:13the third floor killing people and moving the hostages.
- 2:00:16So you're telling me that it takes Pierce longer to go from
- 2:00:21the basement level to the third floor, climbing the stairs, than
- 2:00:24it took for Jake to go all around?
- 2:00:26Around the third floor, kill a bunch of people, knock someone
- 2:00:29out, lock him in a cupboard, go speak to hostages, calm down the
- 2:00:32hostages, get them all in a room, give his advice or
- 2:00:35instructions, and then head out again.
- 2:00:36You're telling me in all that time Pierce could only make it
- 2:00:40up like three sets of stairs? Makes no sense.
- 2:00:42So we come back to the police guy and the FBI guy, and he says
- 2:00:46I lean toward thinking that the bomb threat is mostly a bluff,
- 2:00:48Despite that explosion earlier. But there's no point in taking
- 2:00:51chances. So why is everyone so sure it's
- 2:00:53a bluff when in this universe left wing extremists apparently
- 2:00:56are well known for bombing everything?
- 2:00:58Make it make sense also. Why is it?
- 2:01:00Unbelievable when a woman says that, but not when two men say
- 2:01:03it. So annoying.
- 2:01:04Then some old guy turns up and it's very clearly like the guy
- 2:01:08from the gun range earlier who was shooting, right?
- 2:01:10But I guess we're just not meant to know it at this moment.
- 2:01:12But Mccraney, the the police chief guy, had never seen the
- 2:01:15man before. He was older from the looks of
- 2:01:17his weathered face and the silver in his hair that had once
- 2:01:19been dark and still bore traces of that.
- 2:01:21He moved and carried himself like a younger man, though
- 2:01:23Mccraney had seen guys like that before, men who took such good
- 2:01:26care of themselves and who are blessed with good genes to boot,
- 2:01:29that it was difficult to tell if they were 40 or 70.
- 2:01:32This lean and medium sized stranger fit right into that
- 2:01:35category. This is how all right wing men
- 2:01:37see themselves, isn't it? So I'm thinking at this point
- 2:01:41like, he's probably some right wing good nut who's been
- 2:01:44tracking those damn lefty terrorists or something like
- 2:01:46that, and he wants to take them all out and show them some good
- 2:01:49American compassion, by which I mean shoot them, you know?
- 2:01:53The first thing he says is so laughably pathetic in an attempt
- 2:01:56to look tough, right? He says.
- 2:01:57I've never worried that much about being in dangerous places.
- 2:02:00The stranger replied with a faint smile.
- 2:02:02I suppose I wouldn't know what to do if I found myself
- 2:02:04somewhere that wasn't dangerous. Why does this sound like
- 2:02:07something Andrew Tate would say? He's like, I can always get it
- 2:02:10anywhere I want and then condescendingly tells all the
- 2:02:13women, police officers, and only the women that they should be
- 2:02:15leaving because it's not safe. Ma'am, look on a vomit.
- 2:02:19The guy's like I have personal reasons to be here and they just
- 2:02:22decide yeah, cool, let's let's let the stranger roam around a
- 2:02:25campus because they're idiots and this would never happen in
- 2:02:28the real world. My God, at least have the
- 2:02:30decency to tell me your name. The craney exploded.
- 2:02:33The stranger paused and looked back.
- 2:02:34It won't do you any good, he said.
- 2:02:36But it's Barry. Barry Rivera.
- 2:02:38But you can call me Dog. Just dog.
- 2:02:40This is so funny to me. They, they really think this is
- 2:02:46like some tough guy thing, don't they?
- 2:02:47Like, I think this is meant to be like a Bond, James Bond
- 2:02:50moment, but he just sounds so silly.
- 2:02:52I can't. I can't.
- 2:02:53OK. We come back to Jake and he goes
- 2:02:55back out into the stairwell and up to the 4th floor.
- 2:02:58Still hasn't bumped into PS yet. Purely for the sake of the
- 2:03:00story, I guess. But then, as he reaches the top
- 2:03:03floor, he hears PS shuffling around quite a way below him,
- 2:03:07and Pierce calls up to him. So, like I say, the timeline
- 2:03:10makes no sense. Because you're telling me that
- 2:03:12in the time it took Jake to get up three flights of stairs, Kill
- 2:03:16two people, roam around the third floor for a bit, knock a
- 2:03:19third person out, lock him in a cupboard?
- 2:03:21Go confront a bunch of hostages, lead them to safety, give them
- 2:03:24instructions, head back to the stairwell, go open up another
- 2:03:27flight of stairs. Pierce has only managed to run
- 2:03:30away, kick a guy in the head and get up two flights of stairs.
- 2:03:33This makes no sense. Jake decides to stand in the
- 2:03:36dark and wait for Pierce to make his way up the stairs, where he
- 2:03:39immediately grabs him by the neck and threatens him to stay
- 2:03:42quiet. So like, yeah, great way to
- 2:03:44treat an ally, mate. And, you know, tell us again how
- 2:03:47you're not violent. Yeah, but yeah, I guess he is
- 2:03:51black and you're a Republican, So what else did we expect,
- 2:03:54right? Again, tell us how you're not
- 2:03:56racist. After a whole bunch of nonsense
- 2:03:59and back and forth, Jake decides to give Pierce a chance and he
- 2:04:02gives him a gun and asks him to help him shoot the 4th door. 4th
- 2:04:05floor door open. Pierce says he's never shot a
- 2:04:07gun before, and Jake thinks first mountain bolt.
- 2:04:11Now Pierce. How did people grow up without
- 2:04:13ever putting their hands on a gun?
- 2:04:14Jake wondered. He couldn't even begin to
- 2:04:16comprehend that easy, easily. In a society where guns aren't
- 2:04:20normalised, Most people don't regularly handle those dangerous
- 2:04:24killing machines. It's that simple.
- 2:04:26So they get into the 4th floor, Jake shoots another man.
- 2:04:29I think we're up to 15 dead now. Meanwhile, Foster sends Natalie
- 2:04:32up to try and find Jake, and if she's anything like Pierce, I'm
- 2:04:35sure it'll take 1/2 an hour to walk upset steps too.
- 2:04:37Jake makes Pierce stay with people on the 4th floor and
- 2:04:40leaves and heads back down to Foster.
- 2:04:42So I guess it's cool to just leave everyone on the second and
- 2:04:45first floors in danger, right? Yeah, okay, cool, right?
- 2:04:48They don't matter. We randomly got to another
- 2:04:50building that's been taken over by the big bad money hungry
- 2:04:53lefties. This is the administration
- 2:04:55building. Dog man enters the building and
- 2:04:57kills all the bad guys in it by snapping their necks because
- 2:05:00he's your big strong boy doing some shooty shooty and being
- 2:05:03pingo Mandy and he frees everyone in a matter of minutes
- 2:05:07and then runs off again as you do we.
- 2:05:10I wish I could give you more details but like this is pretty
- 2:05:12much all there is. It's so stupid.
- 2:05:15We got we got back to FBI guy who says he knows rumours about
- 2:05:19Dog Man. Apparently he says a long time
- 2:05:22ago, and I'm talking going back 30 years or more.
- 2:05:25Yes, such a long time, 30 years. When I was just starting out in
- 2:05:29the Bureau, we used to hear rumours about a guy who went by
- 2:05:31the code name Dog. No one knew who he was or if he
- 2:05:33even really existed. Look, and now he's just handing
- 2:05:36out his name, and he's supposed to be some secret anyway, but
- 2:05:39the stories about him said that he was some sort of freelance
- 2:05:42troubleshooter who answered only to the president.
- 2:05:44He'd been a truck driver, so he roamed around the country and is
- 2:05:47specially outfitted truck looking for, well, wrongs to
- 2:05:51write, corny as that sounds. Sometimes the government would
- 2:05:53point him in a certain direction and turn him loose like a force
- 2:05:56of nature. But most of the time he found
- 2:05:58his own cases, and he did a lot of good for a while before he
- 2:06:00dropped completely out of sight. So he's just a male Mary Sue
- 2:06:04callsies? Sure, whatever.
- 2:06:06I will call him Dog Sue now. Dog zoo then breaks into another
- 2:06:09building, kills all the bad guys there.
- 2:06:12I mean at this point he's killing dozens of people faster
- 2:06:15than Pierce can climb a flight of stairs.
- 2:06:17This book is so illogical. Back to Jake, he heads down the
- 2:06:21third floor to get those guys and send them all upstairs to be
- 2:06:24together. And Natalie, God knows where she
- 2:06:27is, apparently she's really taking her time getting up those
- 2:06:29stairs too. And then after going down to the
- 2:06:33third floor, sending them up to the 4th floor, heading down
- 2:06:36again. He starts to get to the second
- 2:06:37floor when he finally hears Natalie calling to him from only
- 2:06:40the first floor. No, no, this makes sense and she
- 2:06:44says Jake if that's you, you have to help me.
- 2:06:47I don't want to do this anymore. It was all a terrible mistake
- 2:06:50and I'm so sorry. A pleading note entered Natalie
- 2:06:52voice. Please, Jake, I'm putting my
- 2:06:54life in your hands. Cool.
- 2:06:56Sure, whatever. So he calls back to her, and
- 2:06:58there's some secret third person behind her in the stairs who
- 2:07:02shoots up at Jake. I don't care at this point, I'm
- 2:07:04just trying to go to the end of the book.
- 2:07:06Jake shoots down and of course he kills the shooter.
- 2:07:08But in all the drama, Natalie's been shot in the shoulder but
- 2:07:11protected by plot armour. She's not dead like all these
- 2:07:14are the bad guys. They're killed dead in one shot.
- 2:07:16But Natalie can survive because plot armour.
- 2:07:18So he picks her up, carries her like the sudden little object a
- 2:07:21woman should be, right? Misogyny.
- 2:07:25And he takes it back up to the 4th floor to the other.
- 2:07:29See, he can carry a dead weight of a body from the 2nd floor to
- 2:07:33the 4th floor in no time, but it takes a healthy adult woman like
- 2:07:3810 times as long to get from the basement to the first floor
- 2:07:42anyway. This makes no sense.
- 2:07:44He takes up to the 4th floor and tells the others to keep us
- 2:07:46safe, try and stop the bleeding. And he nodded and said.
- 2:07:50You're doing good work both of you, now I need to get back to
- 2:07:53what I started. He reached out, touched
- 2:07:55Natalie's shoulder for a second. She appeared to be unconscious
- 2:07:57now killing the rest of those sons of bitches.
- 2:08:00Oh my God what a big strong haired man.
- 2:08:02So many, so alpha. So I don't care.
- 2:08:07Back to Foster. Who's thinking.
- 2:08:09The other scenario would seem so much more dramatic, though.
- 2:08:11Taking over entire college campus and threatening to blow
- 2:08:14off the face of the earth. That was the sort of thing the
- 2:08:16legends were made of. If he was able to pull this off,
- 2:08:18his name would go down in the annals of terrorism right next
- 2:08:22to Osama bin Laden. Yeah.
- 2:08:24Because that's what all true lefties dream of being compared
- 2:08:27to. Bin Laden may be for real.
- 2:08:30I can't This. This book gets Jupiter every
- 2:08:33page. I'll say it again, this feels
- 2:08:35like it was written as satire of like what the right think, but
- 2:08:39this is actually written by someone.
- 2:08:41Like in the name of someone who was right wing their whole life.
- 2:08:44I, I can't, I can't. Dog Sue rescues people in yet
- 2:08:49another building and then on the walkie-talkie he taunts Foster,
- 2:08:53who sets off another bomb. Now Foster thinks if the
- 2:08:56hostages ever decide to rush them, it wouldn't end well for
- 2:08:58Foster and his allies. Fortunately, the chances of this
- 2:09:00happening were insignificant in his opinion.
- 2:09:02These were college students and stuff.
- 2:09:04They had been thoroughly indoctrinated in the same sort
- 2:09:07of progressive clap trap he had once believed himself.
- 2:09:10They considered themselves superior, the elite who were too
- 2:09:13smart to work to ever embrace violence.
- 2:09:15So is he not a liberal anymore? Or is he?
- 2:09:17Because I thought this was meant to be a I'm OK.
- 2:09:20I'm very confused by what this book is trying to say.
- 2:09:23Like, what is this man's motivation?
- 2:09:25What are his political leanings? I mean, I'm confused and I think
- 2:09:27the author is too. They want to make liberals the
- 2:09:29bad guys so much. But that doesn't make sense if
- 2:09:32you're just going to make them do whatever crazy, crazy stuff
- 2:09:35for whatever crazy reason and just blame it on liberal and
- 2:09:38left ideologies, even when that makes no sense.
- 2:09:41This is a man who's claiming he's liberal, but he's different
- 2:09:43to these other liberals and they're not violent and he is
- 2:09:47violent. And then you have right wing
- 2:09:49Jake been like damn all liberals.
- 2:09:51They're just like extremists who are violent and they blow up
- 2:09:55things and we all know liberals love their bombs.
- 2:09:57But also liberals are cowards and they won't do anything for
- 2:10:00it. Makes no sense.
- 2:10:02None of this makes sense. Foster goes on to think not much
- 2:10:05of a chance of this bunch risking their lives by fighting
- 2:10:07back. They were used to being sheep,
- 2:10:08being told what to think and do every moment of their waking
- 2:10:11lives by the government and the media and sheep, they would
- 2:10:14remain scared. Little sheep.
- 2:10:16Sure, if you say so mate. Again, I'm confused.
- 2:10:18A lefty is little sheep who never fight back.
- 2:10:20Or are they dangerous terrorists who have a habit of going around
- 2:10:22bombing everyone? This book needs to make up its
- 2:10:24mind. You can't criticise them for
- 2:10:26being both at once. So Jake decides to skip freeing
- 2:10:30the second floor hostages for now, because the second floor
- 2:10:33wasn't that important now, and Jake decided he could afford to
- 2:10:36bypass it because whoever was posted there wouldn't be able to
- 2:10:39come to Foster's aid right away if shooting broke out on the
- 2:10:41lower level. Like, OK, but you know, they
- 2:10:43have walkie talkies. Foster could give an order for
- 2:10:45them to just kill everyone on that floor.
- 2:10:47And I guess you're just OK with that.
- 2:10:48Yeah, like that. That's a risk worth taking.
- 2:10:51Those innocent people's lives don't matter as long as you get
- 2:10:53to play the big hero. Yeah, stupid.
- 2:10:55There's more blathering about how great Jake supposedly is.
- 2:10:58Jake had spent enough time in the library to be aware of all
- 2:11:01this, just as a matter of habit. He constantly studied his
- 2:11:04surroundings, and he had the sort of brain that once
- 2:11:06something was noted in it, he tended not to forget.
- 2:11:08He had no real reason for doing that, other than he liked to be
- 2:11:11prepared for whatever might happen.
- 2:11:12He had never forgotten a quote he'd heard attributed to General
- 2:11:15James Mattis. Always have a plan to kill
- 2:11:17everybody in the room. That sounded like good advice to
- 2:11:20Jake. That sounds like bad advice.
- 2:11:22That sounds like something a psychopath would say.
- 2:11:24I've literally like I've as a woman, you always think about
- 2:11:27like, oh, what if I'm endangering this scenario a lot?
- 2:11:29But. You never think about.
- 2:11:30How to literally kill people? Who does that?
- 2:11:33No one does that anyway. He gets the first floor, like
- 2:11:35ground floor, and he sees the liberal police officer that Jake
- 2:11:39hates wrestling with one of the gunmen.
- 2:11:41Jake shoots the gunman dead. The number of dead people in
- 2:11:45this book is now, oh, I don't even know.
- 2:11:47It's higher than Jake knows how to count, like 16-17, something
- 2:11:51like that. Actually, not including all the
- 2:11:52people. Dog suit was killed.
- 2:11:53So God knows we're probably in the 30s or 40s now.
- 2:11:56As for the other guy, Jake goes and hits him over the head like
- 2:12:00the other Goodman police guy grabs the guy's gun and breaks
- 2:12:03his jaw. Then Jake kicks him in the head.
- 2:12:05So he's either unconscious and like there's some sort of brain
- 2:12:08damage from all that or he's dead.
- 2:12:09I don't know, I don't care. Jake tells everyone to leave and
- 2:12:12the author can't resist One more lefties A cowardly sheep dig.
- 2:12:15But but is it safe? As the male undergraduate with
- 2:12:18multiple piercings on ears, nose and lips, a girl with pink hair
- 2:12:21said we should stay where we are until someone from the
- 2:12:23government tells us to leave. The administration needs to
- 2:12:26issue a statement and address this.
- 2:12:27Added a middle-aged man who Jake pegged as a professor.
- 2:12:30This campus is supposed to be a safe space in a gun free zone.
- 2:12:32He looked pointedly at the pistols Jake and and Granderson
- 2:12:35held. Neither of you should have
- 2:12:36those. You should turn them into the
- 2:12:38authorities immediately. Literally no one would act like
- 2:12:40this in this situation. It's so stupid.
- 2:12:42Back to Foster and he's now down to just five bad guys himself.
- 2:12:46Two men with him on the basement level and two men on the 2nd
- 2:12:50floor. And he's actually got one of the
- 2:12:52bomb too, which I think is supposed to be around the
- 2:12:56library that they're in or something.
- 2:12:57The rest are all apparently decoys or something like that.
- 2:13:00That right? And he says they were aware that
- 2:13:02he'd been able to get hold of enough explosives to build only
- 2:13:04three working bombs. The others were decoys intended
- 2:13:07to keep the bomb squad busy checking out the work done by
- 2:13:09the groundskeepers that morning and to keep the cops worried so
- 2:13:12they would hold back in order to prevent a possible Holocaust.
- 2:13:17Now I get this is meant to make readers associate liberals and
- 2:13:20the extreme left with Nazis, but it's a stupid comparison, right?
- 2:13:24Comparing bombs on a small campus to the Holocaust just
- 2:13:27feels offensive. Bombs aren't going to commit a
- 2:13:30pre planned genocide of 1,000,000 / a number of number
- 2:13:33of years based on people's identities.
- 2:13:35A better comparison might have been to when the KKK bombed a
- 2:13:37lot of black churches across the American South in the 50s and
- 2:13:4060s. But I guess this book doesn't
- 2:13:42want to portray the KKK as bad guys, do they?
- 2:13:44You know. Or maybe he could have compared
- 2:13:46it to the Oklahoma City bombing things in 1999.
- 2:13:48Oh no wait, that was done by a right winger too.
- 2:13:50OK, how about the Centennial Olympic Park bombings in 96?
- 2:13:54He could have compared. Oh no no wait, that was done by
- 2:13:56Eric Rudolph, who also bombed abortion clinics in 97 and 98
- 2:14:01and a lesbian bar in 97. And he was literally a member of
- 2:14:05a right wing extremist group. Are you seeing a pattern here?
- 2:14:08Anyway, the narration reveals that Foster has been secretly
- 2:14:11planting a bunch of explosives around the library for the last
- 2:14:13couple of weeks, and he could blow it up any minute now.
- 2:14:16And we cut back to Jake. And in an utterly confusing
- 2:14:19moment, he looked at the building's lift.
- 2:14:21And the really interesting thing about it, though, was that the
- 2:14:24downward pointing arrow on the panel above the doors was lit.
- 2:14:27That meant that the elevator was descending from an upper floor.
- 2:14:30How? There's supposed to be no power
- 2:14:32in this whole campus, Definitely not in this building.
- 2:14:35All the lights are out. All the power's off.
- 2:14:36How is the lift moving? How is it working?
- 2:14:39How is there a light on the lift?
- 2:14:40Doesn't make sense, but without any explanation for this, Jake
- 2:14:43hits the button to make the lift stop on the ground floor.
- 2:14:45The doors open, him and police guys shoot inside the lift, and
- 2:14:49then the two men in there from the 2nd floor are now dead.
- 2:14:52Cool. However, Oh no, Mr Policeman has
- 2:14:55been shot. What a shame this trend of only
- 2:14:58liberals dying in this book continues.
- 2:15:01Just before he dies, Policeman decides to get in the lift and
- 2:15:05go down so he can distract Foster so Jake can sneak up on
- 2:15:08him and kill him. Cool.
- 2:15:09Anyway, lift goes down Policeman, Then he dies.
- 2:15:12Jake appears on the basement level floor.
- 2:15:14He kills one guy, kills the other guy.
- 2:15:16Now Foster is the only terrorist person left.
- 2:15:19Unless you count Natalie with her gunshot upstairs, but
- 2:15:22apparently we're not meant to count her anymore.
- 2:15:23Okay, so tired of this, Foster runs away with the intention of
- 2:15:29either sneaking up on Jake, or to kill Jake obviously, or
- 2:15:34setting off the explosives around the library, killing
- 2:15:36everyone still in it. And at this point I'm like, why
- 2:15:38even bother trying to kill Jake? If you're ready to die for the
- 2:15:41cause? Just just blow up the bomb
- 2:15:42already, right? You know you're not going to
- 2:15:43kill him. You're lucky he's 5 this long at
- 2:15:45all. If that's really your goal, just
- 2:15:47set off the bombs. Of course he doesn't because
- 2:15:49plot. So Jake chases after him, they
- 2:15:51have some nonsense back and forth and then a fistfight and
- 2:15:54blah blah blah blah blah. Forced to get shot in the neck.
- 2:15:57Jake gets shot in the chest, he passes out.
- 2:15:59Pretty sure Foster's dead here. And then even in the aftermath
- 2:16:02of everything, the author can't resist being snarky as hell and
- 2:16:05it's disgusting. So we kind of like Fade to Black
- 2:16:09at this moment and we get a sort of like aftermath of it all.
- 2:16:11Councils provided by the college were overworked as they tried to
- 2:16:14help the students deal with the trauma they had gone through.
- 2:16:16This had been a macro aggression and some of those already easily
- 2:16:20triggered snowflakes would never get over it.
- 2:16:21That was the trouble with being a snowflake.
- 2:16:23You melted if things got the least bit warm.
- 2:16:26Like, sorry, let's not mock people for being rightly
- 2:16:29traumatised by being held at gunpoint and threatened with a
- 2:16:31bomb. Yeah, you can't mock people for
- 2:16:34that. That's ridiculous.
- 2:16:35Sadly, Jake has survived. And I know that sounds
- 2:16:39heartless, but I couldn't careless about this character
- 2:16:41and and his granddad being some rich billionaire.
- 2:16:45Whatever gets them to put up some plaque in the library in
- 2:16:48his honour. And Jake's like, shouldn't
- 2:16:50policemen get something? Because, like, he did literally
- 2:16:53die right from the say people. But the police chief says we'll
- 2:16:56put something up in the station for him.
- 2:16:57Don't worry. He sure was an unlikable kid.
- 2:17:00Like have you ever heard of Don't Speak I'll of the dead?
- 2:17:02He wasn't that. This is pathetic.
- 2:17:04He was not that bad. Jake says he's leaving college,
- 2:17:06but he doesn't know what he's going to do.
- 2:17:08But it's OK because he's got family money to fall back on.
- 2:17:10It's all right for some, isn't it?
- 2:17:11And then he's approached by Dog Sue or Barry Rivera, who is
- 2:17:15like, Jake, I am your uncle. Very Darth Vader.
- 2:17:18Also what his name apparently isn't really Rivera, it's
- 2:17:22Rivers. So Oh my God, how shocking.
- 2:17:24What an excellent way of hiding. No one would have ever figured
- 2:17:27that out. What a well thought out secret
- 2:17:29identity. And Jake is like.
- 2:17:32But Uncle Barry was killed in an explosion with his wife, and
- 2:17:35he's like, surprise, I survived and oh God, this was so stupid,
- 2:17:40right? Are you ready for this?
- 2:17:41I've seen pictures of Barry Rivers.
- 2:17:42Jake said stubbornly. You don't look like the blast
- 2:17:45tore up my face. When the doctors put it back
- 2:17:47together. I didn't look exactly like I
- 2:17:49used to. I think you can still see a hint
- 2:17:52of the old me here and there if you know where to look.
- 2:17:54But most people never would. And you never saw me when you
- 2:17:57were a kid. I was dead before you were born.
- 2:18:00So was your Uncle Paul. He died in that insane asylum
- 2:18:03where he belonged. I might act what a ridiculous
- 2:18:06ending to a ridiculous book. So Dog Sue is like, hey, work
- 2:18:11with me nephew, be an assassin or whatever, and the book, and
- 2:18:15this is so bad. This is literally how the book
- 2:18:17ends, right? Do I get a code name?
- 2:18:19Barry squinted over at him. Said.
- 2:18:21You're as big as a horse. How about horse?
- 2:18:24No, Jake said, shaking his head. Not horse.
- 2:18:27That's not a good code name. He thought about it now.
- 2:18:29Stallion, maybe? I don't think so.
- 2:18:32Barry clapped a hand on his nephew's shoulder as they walked
- 2:18:34off into the Pleasant autumn afternoon.
- 2:18:36We'll work on it. I'm sorry, Stallion Step thanks
- 2:18:40a lot of himself, doesn't he? And that is where this pathetic
- 2:18:43excuse for book ends. I don't think we ever really
- 2:18:46find out what happened to Natalie.
- 2:18:47I think it's assumed she survived, but I don't.
- 2:18:49I don't know, I don't remember, I don't care.
- 2:18:52There is, this is interesting, right?
- 2:18:54There's an about the author section at the very end of the
- 2:18:56book, which doesn't credit whoever actually wrote the book,
- 2:18:59but it does say, though known largely for their westerns,
- 2:19:03national best selling authors, William W Johnston and JA
- 2:19:06Johnston are the authors of some of the most explosive and timely
- 2:19:10thrillers of the last decade, including Blah blah blah blah
- 2:19:13blah. The Johnstons know that freedom
- 2:19:15is never free. They fully support our military
- 2:19:17and regularly donate books to our troops.
- 2:19:20You can learn more about this and blah, blah, blah, blah,
- 2:19:22blah, the website. So yeah, not good people, are
- 2:19:26they? Where this is where I like, I
- 2:19:28keep thinking like, is this just meant to be a satire of the
- 2:19:30right? And then you're like, no,
- 2:19:31because the people putting this out are right wing.
- 2:19:34It terrible. I I should also add as well, I
- 2:19:36did not pay anything to review this book.
- 2:19:38I did not pay for this book. I did not buy this book.
- 2:19:41So we're OK. OK.
- 2:19:43I often like to end videos like this by looking at some of the
- 2:19:46tops, by looking at some of the top Goodreads reviews of this
- 2:19:48book. And in this case, I found some
- 2:19:50really good ones. This was these are so funny one
- 2:19:53star. So what a fundamental
- 2:19:55misunderstanding of the left agenda.
- 2:19:57I don't mind that he wrote a book to dispute the left agenda
- 2:20:00and represent a more conservative viewpoint.
- 2:20:02However, maybe he should have like counterpoints.
- 2:20:05Like he didn't really argue anything.
- 2:20:06He didn't even have a stable plot or make sense.
- 2:20:09OK, I guess. This person says one star.
- 2:20:12Hey how about you don't One star.
- 2:20:15Literally the worst. One star seems too much.
- 2:20:18Agreed. One star.
- 2:20:20No, just no. Absolutely effing not this
- 2:20:23person. They actually got a early.
- 2:20:25Copy to review. And they said if you just looked
- 2:20:28at the blurb of this book and thought to yourself, this is a
- 2:20:30joke, right? It's April Fool's or something.
- 2:20:32Just wait until you read the actual book.
- 2:20:35Oh God, I won't even gain to quote.
- 2:20:36But no, this is not one of those books where the disillusioned
- 2:20:39lead goes to college. And, I don't know, learn
- 2:20:41something instead? The author, who hasn't set foot
- 2:20:43on a modern college campus probably ever, and certainly has
- 2:20:46never met anyone who went to college, gives us exactly the
- 2:20:49example of a snowflake paradise. We can expect someone who thinks
- 2:20:52that just because we want to learn, we can't be brave.
- 2:20:55Snowflakes don't know what to do besides melt when it gets warm
- 2:20:58or some crap. F that noise.
- 2:21:00You like this guy's books? Bully for you, you can keep it.
- 2:21:03Finally, there's. I can't remember if this was the
- 2:21:06same person who wrote these things or two different people,
- 2:21:09but this person said one star who was high at the publishing
- 2:21:11company when they made the brilliant decision to print this
- 2:21:13crap. Or maybe someone decided to
- 2:21:15grant the dying wish of their grandpa who wrote this crap
- 2:21:17while sitting on the toilet in their nursing home.
- 2:21:20It's a plot that falls flat on its face when one considers that
- 2:21:23gun control, the thing that so-called ultra lip special
- 2:21:26snowflakes are pushing for, would have prevented the entire
- 2:21:29thing, thus rendering a story useless to exist.
- 2:21:33It reads as a gun humping conservatives wet dream
- 2:21:36basically. So good.
- 2:21:38Now I did try and see if there are any positive reviews but it
- 2:21:41was difficult. All the five star ones seemed to
- 2:21:43be giving it so many stars because they were like it's so
- 2:21:45bad it's good. They were laughing at how
- 2:21:47pathetic it is with things like 5 stars.
- 2:21:49Absolutely hilarious. A+ plus comedy laughing my bum
- 2:21:52of all the way. Five stars.
- 2:21:54Easily the dumbest book I've ever read.
- 2:21:55The writing and plotting were absolutely abysmal and read like
- 2:21:58a deranged fever dream of Tucker Carlson.
- 2:22:00I couldn't put it down. And this one's quite long but
- 2:22:03I'll just read a few excerpts and five stars.
- 2:22:06We really kicked some straw man but here didn't we?
- 2:22:09And it's it's all quite educational if you don't
- 2:22:11normally consume conservative media.
- 2:22:13Five stars then for the publishers genius in using
- 2:22:16Jasmine and zombie author Uncle Bill to expose and ridicule the
- 2:22:19pure I will pure our world view of American conservative
- 2:22:22populism. Sadly, the five stars can't
- 2:22:25stand points are just as follows Doc One star for the too obvious
- 2:22:28straw man fallacy. Sorry Doc 1 1/2 stars because I
- 2:22:31was offended. A rape scene in the 1st chapter
- 2:22:33is simply not appropriate in a children's.
- 2:22:37It's not actually a chocolate book.
- 2:22:38They're laughing at how Paul he has written add one.
- 2:22:41Add 1/2 star for Jake stating that he doesn't want to be the
- 2:22:44kind of guy who sees everything through an ideological lens.
- 2:22:47A comic master stroke and best line in the book.
- 2:22:50Doc 1/2 star for the vigilante Ex Machina of Just Dog.
- 2:22:54Yes, I read to the end. Lone twist.
- 2:22:56It still loses 1/2 star and I'm being generous.
- 2:22:59Doc Another half star for the cheesy plot detail of everyone
- 2:23:02dying instantly from gunshots until the love interest is hit
- 2:23:05but only injured. Final score.
- 2:23:07Three stars. Worth a read if you're in a
- 2:23:09funny mood but don't spend any money on it.
- 2:23:13Oh fantastic. And but there were a few serious
- 2:23:16reviews who who like genuinely liked it and this shocks me so.
- 2:23:19Five stars. A very entertaining book from
- 2:23:22beginning to end. The simple fact is obviously
- 2:23:24triggered so many folks here. Makes it even more hilarious.
- 2:23:27Five stars. A rude awakening.
- 2:23:29This could be today's headlines. Too many people are ready to
- 2:23:32complain about everything and do nothing.
- 2:23:34I will grab a book by these two. Over it over another so there
- 2:23:37any time real life and everyday heroes.
- 2:23:40So I thought like, okay, well, like this person obviously
- 2:23:44saying we want to read this over other books.
- 2:23:45I was like, I wonder what else they're into?
- 2:23:48What else are they reading? So I went on that Goodreads
- 2:23:50profile and I feel like we should take his review with a
- 2:23:53pinch of salt because his favourite books include Book of
- 2:23:58Mormon, Made Easier, Parts 1-2 and three, Jesus the Christ
- 2:24:03Illustrated, and a lot of Doctor Seuss.
- 2:24:07Like a lot of Doctor. Seuss.
- 2:24:11OK, two last reviews, 5 stars, and again, I'm just going to
- 2:24:14read you some excerpts here as not only a former student, but
- 2:24:17an employee of a private college.
- 2:24:19Not all together. Unlike Kelton, this reviewer can
- 2:24:22attest to the reality of the leftist bias which dominates
- 2:24:25today's Academy. Johnston does a good job of
- 2:24:28capturing the essence of the of the modern collegiate mindset
- 2:24:31and then amping it up exponentially thanks to the
- 2:24:34machinations of terrorists who have chosen Kelton as their
- 2:24:36target. Rivers is an extremely likeable
- 2:24:39protagonist. Sorry, are we reading the same
- 2:24:40the same book? What?
- 2:24:43Trigger Morning is great fun and shines a much needed spotlight
- 2:24:45on the sad state of contemporary higher education.
- 2:24:48A thrilling read for all fans of action and adventure.
- 2:24:51This one was five stars and says while some criticise the
- 2:24:54portrayal of liberals, I believe the depiction to be accurate,
- 2:24:57lending authenticity to the narrative.
- 2:25:00Again, were we reading the same book?
- 2:25:03So yeah, I think, I think that is me done for today.
- 2:25:07Please let me know down in the comments what you thought of
- 2:25:09this absolute nonsense and if you giggled along with me all
- 2:25:12the way. Thank you SO.
- 2:25:13Much for understanding that I just did voice over in this last
- 2:25:16section because it has been a tiring week, but it's been, it's
- 2:25:19been a fun week as well. But yeah, thank you so much for
- 2:25:21watching this video. And if you'd like to continue
- 2:25:23supporting my work, I do have Patreon and channel memberships
- 2:25:27available. You can also grab merch.
- 2:25:29I'm currently working on some new designs, so they'll be out
- 2:25:31very soon, which is exciting. I've got books you can get
- 2:25:34Reflections on Healing and outside, which are both
- 2:25:37available on Amazon as ebooks and physical copies.
- 2:25:40And if you buy the hardback copy of outside because it's a big
- 2:25:44chunky boy, you actually get a download code to get a free
- 2:25:47version of the audio book that you can download from my website
- 2:25:49as well. So there's also fun things you
- 2:25:51can do if you have any other books you would like to
- 2:25:53recommend me to review on this channel.
- 2:25:55I do all sorts of stuff or just saying topics you want me to
- 2:25:57cover. I talk about feminism and kind
- 2:26:00of social issues or just kind of anything that interests me.
- 2:26:03It's a mixed eclectic bag on here.
- 2:26:05And then just let me know down in the comments as well.
- 2:26:07But for now, if you're new here, it'd be wonderful if you would
- 2:26:10subscribe to join me on this journey.
- 2:26:12If you've been around a while, just check you're still
- 2:26:14subscribed please, because that's always really helpful.
- 2:26:17And if you want to help support my channel in a way that isn't
- 2:26:19monetarily or anything like that, then you can always share
- 2:26:21my videos around on social media because that really, really
- 2:26:24helps. And I appreciate every single
- 2:26:26person who does that. So thank you so much.
- 2:26:28You're all wonderful. I hope you have an amazing rest
- 2:26:30of your day and I'll see you again soon.
- 2:26:32Bye.
