- Lucas: Hei, Luna! Welcome back to Learn Norwegian with Fexingo. Luna: Hei, Lucas! Ready for episode 104. I'm excited. Lucas: Me too. Today we're going to a cafe. A Norwegian cafe. Luna: Oh, I love cafes. What will we learn to say? Lucas: We'll learn how to order basic drinks. Like coffee, tea, water. And how to ask for the bill. Luna: Perfect. I need to know how to order a coffee. Lucas: Okay, first phrase: Jeg vil gjerne ha en kaffe. Luna: Jeg vil gjerne ha en kaffe. Lucas: Good. It means 'I would like a coffee.' Let's break it down: Jeg vil gjerne ha - I would like, en kaffe - a coffee. Luna: Jeg vil gjerne ha en kaffe. So polite. Lucas: Yes. In Norwegian, we often use 'vil gjerne ha' to be polite. Now a simpler version: En kaffe, takk. Luna: En kaffe, takk. Short and sweet. Lucas: Exactly. That just means 'A coffee, please.' Takk is thanks. So you can say that too. Luna: En kaffe, takk. I like that one. Lucas: Now for water: Kan jeg få et glass vann? Luna: Kan jeg få et glass vann? That's 'Can I have a glass of water?' Lucas: Yes. Kan jeg få - can I have, et glass - a glass, vann - water. Say it. Luna: Kan jeg få et glass vann? Got it. Lucas: And for tea: Jeg vil gjerne ha en te. Luna: Jeg vil gjerne ha en te. Easy. Lucas: Now imagine you're at the cafe and you're done. You want to pay. You say: Kan jeg få regningen? Luna: Kan jeg få regningen? That means 'Can I have the bill?' Lucas: Perfect. Regningen - the bill. Let's practice all: Jeg vil gjerne ha en kaffe. Luna: Jeg vil gjerne ha en kaffe. Lucas: En kaffe, takk. Luna: En kaffe, takk. Lucas: Kan jeg få et glass vann? Luna: Kan jeg få et glass vann? Lucas: Jeg vil gjerne ha en te. Luna: Jeg vil gjerne ha en te. Lucas: Kan jeg få regningen? Luna: Kan jeg få regningen? I think I've got them. Lucas: Great. Now let's put them in a little scene. Imagine you walk into a cafe in Oslo. You say to the barista: En kaffe, takk. Luna: En kaffe, takk. Then they ask if I want anything else. Lucas: Right. And you could say: Kan jeg få et glass vann? Luna: Kan jeg få et glass vann? Perfect. Lucas: Then after your coffee, you say: Kan jeg få regningen? Luna: Kan jeg få regningen? And then pay. Easy.
