- 0:33Speaker 2: Today on the show, we are going to rank Star
- 0:36Speaker 2: Trek dads. Plus we've got Star Trek News and your
- 0:41Speaker 2: listener feedback. I'm Scott Boucher's with Dan Lombardo and now
- 0:47Speaker 2: the father of this podcast.
- 0:50Speaker 3: Oh god, I don't know about that. Hi daddy, Oh god,
- 0:59Speaker 3: where's them? They're gonna ask me later what did you
- 1:04Speaker 3: do this morning? I'll just have some guys on the
- 1:06Speaker 3: internet called me daddy.
- 1:07Speaker 4: Yeah, ship just got real, real wind.
- 1:12Speaker 5: But you know, yeah, really.
- 1:16Speaker 1: Well, good morning everybody. Happy Father's Day?
- 1:18Speaker 6: Yes, good morning. Are you guys doing? That's right?
- 1:24Speaker 7: Do you guys have a good Father's Day?
- 1:27Speaker 4: It just started, man, it started?
- 1:28Speaker 7: Okay, Yeah, everybody's asleep.
- 1:32Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, yeah, I've been Eastern time. The kid kid,
- 1:36Speaker 2: one of my sons, had a sleepover. The other one
- 1:38Speaker 2: is off somewhere. He's nineteen, so he's hanging out with friends.
- 1:41Speaker 1: And so.
- 1:44Speaker 6: Fair enough.
- 1:46Speaker 2: I'm expecting brunch. But you know, well we'll see what happens.
- 1:50Speaker 1: When I emerged from my ready rooms's what's your favorite
- 1:54Speaker 1: thing for brunch, uh, breakfast food.
- 1:59Speaker 4: Bacon, but like big, big, big, everything else is optional.
- 2:03Speaker 1: Big play to bacon, Yeah, big play to bacon. Yep.
- 2:09Speaker 7: I like bacon, but I don't love it like most people.
- 2:12Speaker 4: Yeah, I love it like I love it like Spock
- 2:14Speaker 4: last season. I love it like for the first ten
- 2:18Speaker 4: minutes and I'm like, all right, that's enough bacon. Yeah
- 2:22Speaker 4: that's fair.
- 2:23Speaker 1: That's I'm wearing my Darth Vader number one dad.
- 2:28Speaker 4: Oh yeah, nice, I'm wearing uh Trek cast the Galaxy
- 2:33Speaker 4: Star Trek podcast because actually, this is a really comfortable shirt.
- 2:38Speaker 4: I wear this probably more than I should.
- 2:40Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 2:41Speaker 2: I wear my trek ash shirt like at least once
- 2:43Speaker 2: or twice a week. So yeah, it's a nice shirt.
- 2:46Speaker 2: It's one hundred percent cot, which I not. I just
- 2:49Speaker 2: don't like it's a necessity for me because I'm allergic
- 2:52Speaker 2: to polyester.
- 2:53Speaker 4: Oh oh wow, that's good enough.
- 2:57Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, So if you if you ever buy me
- 2:59Speaker 2: clothes dans, no tracksuits, no, no, I keep cloth. No
- 3:08Speaker 2: army gear, which all army gear, all of it is
- 3:11Speaker 2: all on polyester.
- 3:13Speaker 4: So yeah, is it? Is it the like? Do you
- 3:18Speaker 4: get irritated by wearing it? Like on your skin or
- 3:21Speaker 4: is it with the fibers getting your eyes? And I
- 3:23Speaker 4: know if the I know if I'm wearing a new
- 3:25Speaker 4: polyester like a fleece or a hoodie or something, and
- 3:30Speaker 4: I put it and I put it on, I pull
- 3:32Speaker 4: it over my face and it's the first time and
- 3:34Speaker 4: it hasn't been washed, and those fibers get in my eyes.
- 3:37Speaker 4: Forget it. I'm not.
- 3:38Speaker 1: Oh, that sounds pleasant compared to what I go through. No.
- 3:41Speaker 2: If I if I were to put on a five
- 3:44Speaker 2: percent polyester shirt nine cotton shirt cast in about three minutes,
- 3:50Speaker 2: I will I'll start to feel itchy. And if I
- 3:54Speaker 2: take that shirt off, there's like bumps all it's red
- 3:57Speaker 2: and bumpy, and I get it's a it's a rash. Yeah,
- 4:00Speaker 2: so I am allergic.
- 4:02Speaker 4: Is there is there a lotion that Daniel can come apply?
- 4:06Speaker 4: Being that? Dad?
- 4:09Speaker 7: How do you want to take care of you?
- 4:11Speaker 1: Yes? How do I want daddy to take care of me?
- 4:15Speaker 4: Oh?
- 4:16Speaker 1: By god, Daddy, Daniel, Oh God, somebody on the internet
- 4:24Speaker 1: makes some kind of meme.
- 4:27Speaker 4: Daniel.
- 4:27Speaker 6: It happened, for sure, boy.
- 4:30Speaker 1: I know, I know I could count the trek cast
- 4:32Speaker 1: of Facebook group.
- 4:33Speaker 7: Yes, well, maybe maybe you want to mention.
- 4:38Speaker 1: Well, I do want to mention one thing. I mentioned
- 4:40Speaker 1: it to you guys, but I'm holding a Superman uh
- 4:45Speaker 1: cup okay that I got from six Flags.
- 4:48Speaker 2: Why that's important to me is we planned a vacation
- 4:51Speaker 2: to Wisconsin about six months ago and part of that
- 4:53Speaker 2: vacation we're going to go to six Flags, which is
- 4:56Speaker 2: just south of Wisconsin. And we went with some friends
- 4:59Speaker 2: and I I know that there's a Superman ride at
- 5:03Speaker 2: at six Flags, and I went online and there's actually
- 5:07Speaker 2: a group because I'm a larger dude, and there's actually
- 5:09Speaker 2: a Facebook group for larger dudes at six Flags. And basically,
- 5:13Speaker 2: long story short is I realized that I was too
- 5:15Speaker 2: big to ride the Superman ride. And as most of
- 5:18Speaker 2: you know, I'm a big Superman fan. So that was
- 5:20Speaker 2: my weight loss goal from six months ago.
- 5:23Speaker 4: You're a big fan, you're a big fan of Superman,
- 5:25Speaker 4: or you're a big Superman fan, or yeah.
- 5:29Speaker 1: I'm a big Superman Superman fan? Is I was.
- 5:36Speaker 2: I went into the test seat that they have at
- 5:38Speaker 2: the beginning of most of those rides, and I clicked
- 5:42Speaker 2: into it once and I'm like, good, I'm good to go.
- 5:46Speaker 2: Got to the actual seat, I clicked into it once
- 5:48Speaker 2: and clicked at it twice, and she's like, oh no, no,
- 5:51Speaker 2: you gotta you gotta click into it three times. And
- 5:53Speaker 2: I'm like, oh god, so I you know, I sucked
- 5:57Speaker 2: in and I visualized my weight loss journ for the
- 6:00Speaker 2: last six months because yeah, yeah, calorie deficit and walking
- 6:05Speaker 2: and running and finally able to click it in a
- 6:08Speaker 2: third time. And the guy, the guy at the booth
- 6:11Speaker 2: was like, yeah, he's good to go, and I'm like, yes,
- 6:17Speaker 2: I was able to lose enough weight to ride.
- 6:18Speaker 1: The Superman ride. So I was super, super, super excited.
- 6:22Speaker 4: And then you held your you held your breath for
- 6:24Speaker 4: ninety eight seconds basically.
- 6:26Speaker 1: Yeah. Oh.
- 6:28Speaker 2: It was actually a really comfortable ride because the ride
- 6:30Speaker 2: sort of inverts you. You're facing down for for the
- 6:33Speaker 2: whole ride, and it was one of the most unique
- 6:35Speaker 2: coasters I've ever been on. So it does a loopedy loop,
- 6:39Speaker 2: but it's it's instead of going down and then looping up,
- 6:44Speaker 2: it goes up and then loops upside down.
- 6:47Speaker 1: It's it's really really cool.
- 6:48Speaker 2: So if anybody's near uh Gurney, Illinois, check out six
- 6:54Speaker 2: Flags Cool.
- 6:55Speaker 4: Thanks.
- 6:56Speaker 1: Yeah, a little bit of a humble brag for.
- 6:58Speaker 4: Me, very nice.
- 7:01Speaker 7: You know, speaking of Superman, I ended up getting my
- 7:04Speaker 7: tickets to the Amazon. You get to watch it a
- 7:07Speaker 7: few days early, thing, Oh nice.
- 7:11Speaker 2: Yeah, I already bought tickets to to see it in Imax,
- 7:13Speaker 2: so oh right, Yeah, it's the it's the longest lead
- 7:17Speaker 2: time I've ever bought a movie ticket for ever, even
- 7:23Speaker 2: Star Trek Guy, I never got tickets that far in advance.
- 7:27Speaker 7: Yeah, I'm excited to see it man.
- 7:30Speaker 4: So yeah, yeah, me too. I'm still not uh still
- 7:34Speaker 4: not crazy about the s still not crazy about the collar,
- 7:37Speaker 4: but everything else. Every time they show a little bit
- 7:41Speaker 4: more Man, this is gonna be so much It's gonna
- 7:43Speaker 4: be so much fun. It's gonna be so much fun.
- 7:46Speaker 1: Well, I think Superman himself is gonna be fun.
- 7:48Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 7:49Speaker 2: Yes, he's gonna have the right attitude. I think Clark's
- 7:51Speaker 2: gonna have the right attitude. I've been looking forward to that.
- 7:55Speaker 1: Henry Cavill was a little bit too stiff.
- 7:57Speaker 2: I thought, so, Yeah, he's a good actor.
- 8:02Speaker 4: That wasn't him, Yeah that.
- 8:03Speaker 1: Was that was a Superman.
- 8:07Speaker 7: But he could do similar to what they're going to
- 8:10Speaker 7: do in this movie, but they just didn't give him
- 8:13Speaker 7: that material to do it.
- 8:14Speaker 4: Yeah, that's a problem.
- 8:16Speaker 1: Right.
- 8:16Speaker 7: He could have been a fun, loving, happy go lucky
- 8:19Speaker 7: Superman and they just they wanted to press Superman, so
- 8:22Speaker 7: that's what they did.
- 8:24Speaker 1: Welcome to Cryption Cast, everybody.
- 8:25Speaker 7: That's right, that's right. That's almost almost minutes in. We
- 8:29Speaker 7: haven't even talked about stargery.
- 8:30Speaker 4: That's fine. Yeah, alright, so before before we do that. Yeah,
- 8:39Speaker 4: my name this week is Lazarus because I'm I'm back
- 8:42Speaker 4: from the dead. Uh my appears my appearances on trek
- 8:46Speaker 4: Cast have been uh, I'm uh what am I? I'm
- 8:54Speaker 4: a recurring character cast. I'm not, but reports of my
- 9:01Speaker 4: demise have been greatly exaggerated. I'm not going anywhere people.
- 9:05Speaker 4: I'm just letting you know, because every once in a
- 9:07Speaker 4: while I'll get I'll get one of the listeners reach
- 9:10Speaker 4: out and they're like, hey, everything okay, and I love
- 9:15Speaker 4: I love guys. Don't don't ever be afraid to reach out.
- 9:20Speaker 4: But you know, I'm not going anywhere anytime soon. Just
- 9:24Speaker 4: you know, things come up. Last week, I had a
- 9:26Speaker 4: I had a karate tournament that was something that you
- 9:29Speaker 4: know couldn't be moved. Well, not last week, No, I
- 9:38Speaker 4: was well, it was a weird experience. Last week. And
- 9:41Speaker 4: it was funny because you guys, I heard I listened
- 9:43Speaker 4: to some of the show and you guys said, I
- 9:45Speaker 4: was on boath at the ya klingon uh whatever, Which
- 9:49Speaker 4: is funny because in that episode, Wharf was bitching about
- 9:53Speaker 4: not winning, and he was bitching about his his opponent,
- 9:57Speaker 4: uh using some illegal moves and right, yeah, that's that's
- 10:02Speaker 4: exactly what happened. And this this guy I was fighting,
- 10:05Speaker 4: he was you know, you're not supposed to you're not
- 10:06Speaker 4: supposed to grab. There's certain places you're not supposed to hit,
- 10:10Speaker 4: you're not supposed to kick, and the rest just they
- 10:13Speaker 4: weren't calling it. They weren't calling it, and I was
- 10:16Speaker 4: pointing it out and they weren't calling it, and uh,
- 10:19Speaker 4: it got to a point where I was, I was
- 10:21Speaker 4: down points and there was, uh you know, the the
- 10:25Speaker 4: clock was running down. I knew I wasn't gonna win
- 10:27Speaker 4: this thing, and I said, you know what, as soon
- 10:30Speaker 4: as they said go, I'm gonna punch this guy square
- 10:32Speaker 4: in his face, even though even though that's not even
- 10:37Speaker 4: though that's not an acceptable area to strike. It's like,
- 10:41Speaker 4: if we're not calling, we're not calling fouls, then you know,
- 10:44Speaker 4: ship at this point. So that's what happened, they said,
- 10:46Speaker 4: go I stepped in, punched this guy square in the face.
- 10:49Speaker 4: There was no point and then the clock ran out
- 10:51Speaker 4: and and that was it. So I did not place.
- 10:56Speaker 4: I did not place in uh I did not place
- 10:59Speaker 4: in spar last week. I did, however, branch out and
- 11:03Speaker 4: I did uh. I did a form last week and
- 11:06Speaker 4: uh I got first place in forms. So I would
- 11:10Speaker 4: have much rather get get first place in sparring. But
- 11:12Speaker 4: you know, you take you take what you can get. Yeah,
- 11:16Speaker 4: but I'm still here people, I'm not going anywhere. I
- 11:19Speaker 4: may not be here every week. Things come up, and
- 11:22Speaker 4: and I take a week off in.
- 11:23Speaker 1: The summertime, there's gonna be you know, I can't be
- 11:26Speaker 1: it's coming up. I won't be able to make.
- 11:28Speaker 6: So yeah cool.
- 11:30Speaker 1: And I'm the new guy, so I'm really scared about
- 11:32Speaker 1: being in the place.
- 11:33Speaker 7: Whatever the problem is. When I can't make it, that's
- 11:40Speaker 7: really right.
- 11:42Speaker 4: You know, Scott, you joke about being the new guy,
- 11:44Speaker 4: but you're you. You're the new guy, but you're also
- 11:49Speaker 4: in the new blood. You're the guy who rings us
- 11:51Speaker 4: up and say, hey, we're doing a show this week.
- 11:53Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 11:56Speaker 4: We should Yeah we should.
- 11:58Speaker 6: Yeah, exactly.
- 12:00Speaker 1: Okay, what can I say? I love doing this.
- 12:02Speaker 4: Thanks, thanks for being a motivator.
- 12:05Speaker 6: That's right, that's right, all right.
- 12:08Speaker 7: Well, yeah, we got some Star Trek news, so let's
- 12:11Speaker 7: get to that because we've got a lot of Dad's
- 12:12Speaker 7: drink too.
- 12:14Speaker 1: Yes, Star Trek news.
- 12:18Speaker 7: All right, So our first news story comes to us
- 12:21Speaker 7: from Variety. You probably saw this making the rounds earlier
- 12:25Speaker 7: this week. But strange new World start exchange. The World
- 12:29Speaker 7: has been renewed for a fifth and final season, so
- 12:34Speaker 7: we're about to get into season three next month. I'll
- 12:38Speaker 7: go out five seasons, or for sure go five seasons.
- 12:44Speaker 7: The other thing that I think a lot of people
- 12:45Speaker 7: pointed out is the last season, Season five, is only
- 12:50Speaker 7: going to be six episodes to reduce it.
- 12:54Speaker 4: So you know what's funny about this, So it's gonna
- 12:59Speaker 4: go uh full, five seasons, semi full because the last
- 13:04Speaker 4: season is truncated. Going by the old TV rules, the
- 13:10Speaker 4: classic TV rules, this show will not qualify for syndication, right, No,
- 13:16Speaker 4: it used to be you needed one hundred episodes to
- 13:19Speaker 4: get sold into into a syndication package. And this this
- 13:23Speaker 4: show won't qualify. This show will not surpass the original
- 13:27Speaker 4: series in the episode count. This show will not surpass
- 13:32Speaker 4: Enterprise in the episode count.
- 13:34Speaker 6: Oh that's true.
- 13:35Speaker 4: Yeah, so what gives.
- 13:40Speaker 1: I'll tell you something I got an issue with.
- 13:43Speaker 2: They've renewed it for a fifth and final season and
- 13:46Speaker 2: we're just going into season three.
- 13:48Speaker 1: I got two questions.
- 13:49Speaker 2: Number one, what if this show in the third season,
- 13:54Speaker 2: much like Next Gen, just takes off and just it
- 13:58Speaker 2: becomes a global final and just starts raking in the money,
- 14:03Speaker 2: and and millions of people are demanding, Oh no, sorry,
- 14:07Speaker 2: we we said five, that's all we're gonna do.
- 14:11Speaker 4: It'll never it'll never happen. It'll never ever, ever ever happen.
- 14:17Speaker 4: And I'll tell you why, because no matter how great
- 14:20Speaker 4: it does, it's doing that great on Paramount Plus, which
- 14:24Speaker 4: is which is just you know, it's it's.
- 14:28Speaker 1: We're talking two years now, three years from now. Who
- 14:31Speaker 1: knows who's gonna own it?
- 14:32Speaker 4: I mean, you know, well, and that's the other thing,
- 14:36Speaker 4: you know, you know how that could happen. You know
- 14:38Speaker 4: how that could happen if if Paramount Plus gets bought
- 14:42Speaker 4: by Netflix or something like that, right, and everything and
- 14:45Speaker 4: everything gets folded in and suddenly you have this huge
- 14:48Speaker 4: audience that discovers this show and watches it and watches
- 14:53Speaker 4: the first three seasons back to back to back and go,
- 14:56Speaker 4: oh my, oh, this is amazing. You know, that's not unprecedented.
- 14:59Speaker 4: If you remember a show like Cobra Kai. Cobra Kai
- 15:02Speaker 4: had great, great, great, great success on Netflix, but it
- 15:06Speaker 4: started on YouTube.
- 15:07Speaker 1: Started on YouTube.
- 15:08Speaker 4: Yeah, it started as a as a YouTube red show
- 15:12Speaker 4: and YouTube read went right down the crapper and they
- 15:15Speaker 4: sold the show to Netflix.
- 15:16Speaker 1: And read for like a month.
- 15:19Speaker 7: Oh you know what else happened like that was that
- 15:22Speaker 7: Lucifer show. It was on Fox TV, which was yeah, yeah,
- 15:28Speaker 7: Mike a whole other life on Netflix.
- 15:30Speaker 1: Oyeah.
- 15:31Speaker 7: Yeah. The way you know, how else uh, strange worlds
- 15:37Speaker 7: could be saved? Donate to our coffee account, Parmount Plus.
- 15:42Speaker 1: That's right, we'll take care of it. Yeah, we'll take
- 15:45Speaker 1: care of it.
- 15:46Speaker 2: I mean, you're going right now, honestly, like you know,
- 15:51Speaker 2: it's a possibility that Paramount plus could be owned by
- 15:54Speaker 2: either NPR in three years or Donald Trump in three years.
- 15:57Speaker 2: It's everything, you know, all the rules are out the window,
- 16:01Speaker 2: so who knows now.
- 16:03Speaker 1: At the opposite of this, so it could it could boom.
- 16:07Speaker 2: But what if season three what if in like three months,
- 16:10Speaker 2: it's discovered that Anson Mount or Ethan Peck are actually
- 16:16Speaker 2: like neo Nazis. Oh no, out that a tweet they
- 16:20Speaker 2: said seventeen hundred years ago, you know, was like you know,
- 16:25Speaker 2: power to the wrong people, and and all of a sudden,
- 16:28Speaker 2: the whole show gets uh, not literally canceled, but you
- 16:31Speaker 2: know figuratively can't.
- 16:33Speaker 4: Well, like we got more seasons.
- 16:35Speaker 1: To do, guys.
- 16:36Speaker 7: Yeah, no, So right now, what is it the he
- 16:40Speaker 7: Man movie and the new Tron movie is kind of
- 16:42Speaker 7: facing the same thing because of the new Jared Leto allegations.
- 16:47Speaker 4: Yeah, yep, but but see this is different. Okay. You
- 16:52Speaker 4: know normally something like that happens. You you write that
- 16:54Speaker 4: character off, you kill that character off. If if Spot
- 16:57Speaker 4: does something stupid, If Ethan Peck does something stupid, you
- 17:00Speaker 4: can't kill him off. You can't have to be around
- 17:03Speaker 4: for the next one hundred years.
- 17:04Speaker 7: You can reschedule it, you can recast him. Yeah that's
- 17:08Speaker 7: what you would do.
- 17:08Speaker 1: Yeah, all right, you know this it could tank and
- 17:13Speaker 1: then they've got they got to do two more seasons contractually. Right. Yeah,
- 17:17Speaker 1: so that's so weird.
- 17:19Speaker 2: How do we have any other examples where a show
- 17:22Speaker 2: has been you know, maybe maybe see you know n
- 17:27Speaker 2: CIS and season seventeen, they renewed it for two more
- 17:30Speaker 2: seasons or maybe even three more seasons. But there's two
- 17:35Speaker 2: seasons deep into a show and you renew it for
- 17:37Speaker 2: you know, three more seasons out of it.
- 17:39Speaker 1: I don't know. I think they're I think they're grasping
- 17:42Speaker 1: of straws right now trying.
- 17:44Speaker 6: To do so.
- 17:45Speaker 7: Remember the story we did last week where there's talk
- 17:50Speaker 7: of a of a of a Star Trek pause after
- 17:53Speaker 7: all this, you know, yeah, because the Kurtsman contract has
- 17:58Speaker 7: not been renewed, that has come up. They don't know
- 18:01Speaker 7: what the new owners want to do, and they're just
- 18:04Speaker 7: kind of leaving everything for the new owner's handle. As
- 18:07Speaker 7: like you got a ton of movies like the the
- 18:09Speaker 7: Ninja Turtle cartoon movie, What was that Eat?
- 18:11Speaker 6: And Mayhem?
- 18:12Speaker 7: We really haven't done much with the sequel. They're allegedly
- 18:16Speaker 7: working on it, but it seems pretty slow.
- 18:19Speaker 4: You know, A lot a lot of these decisions are
- 18:21Speaker 4: based on the the impending sale. And when you're putting
- 18:25Speaker 4: together a balance sheet to show to the company that's
- 18:28Speaker 4: that's that's buying you, you have to show them what
- 18:31Speaker 4: all of your liabilities are out there, so committing to uh,
- 18:38Speaker 4: you want to show that, hey, this is a successful
- 18:40Speaker 4: show that we're selling you. It's going for five seasons.
- 18:44Speaker 4: But at the same time, you also shorten that fifth
- 18:46Speaker 4: season so it doesn't cost you as much to produce
- 18:49Speaker 4: that fifth season. So this is a a they want
- 18:52Speaker 4: the best of both worlds situations. The new owners could
- 18:55Speaker 4: come in, could come in tomorrow and say no, no,
- 18:57Speaker 4: that makes no sense. We own it now. Six episodes. Nope,
- 19:01Speaker 4: we're gonna do the full ten.
- 19:03Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 19:04Speaker 4: Yeah, you never know, or they may come in and
- 19:06Speaker 4: uncancel it and say, nope, this is still going strong,
- 19:08Speaker 4: we're still making money. We're gonna do ten episodes, We're
- 19:11Speaker 4: gonna leave it open for two more seasons or whatever.
- 19:15Speaker 4: There's no way to know.
- 19:16Speaker 7: I mean, the last Mission and Possible movie did not
- 19:19Speaker 7: do what they thought it was gonna do.
- 19:21Speaker 6: Unfortunately.
- 19:23Speaker 2: You know, that's good news for me because I want
- 19:25Speaker 2: to see it on Paramount Plus as soon as possible.
- 19:27Speaker 7: Oh, it'll be there soon, It'll be there soon, all right.
- 19:31Speaker 7: So then our next news story comes to us from
- 19:33Speaker 7: trekmovie dot com. Just as I was talking about the
- 19:37Speaker 7: Mission Impossible, Simon peg is out there promoting this mission impossible,
- 19:42Speaker 7: and so he talked a little bit about what he
- 19:45Speaker 7: wants to do for Star Trek four. Says he wants
- 19:47Speaker 7: to get back to the spirit of the original series.
- 19:50Speaker 7: He says he would love to do a fourth one.
- 19:52Speaker 7: He says, there's all kinds of muttering about it, but
- 19:55Speaker 7: I haven't heard anything. That's just what we're gonna do.
- 19:58Speaker 6: And then in.
- 19:58Speaker 7: Another interview he says everything has become so gritty, but
- 20:04Speaker 7: it's I think it's just some sort of weird justification
- 20:06Speaker 7: of how do we make this thing which is essentially
- 20:10Speaker 7: quite youthful. So he wants to go back to more
- 20:13Speaker 7: of the fun, living spirit of the original series, and
- 20:18Speaker 7: he wants to make it more moral dilemmas and things
- 20:20Speaker 7: like that.
- 20:21Speaker 4: So I don't that happened?
- 20:26Speaker 1: Do you get? Can you smell that? That's nasty? That's
- 20:29Speaker 1: the that's the smell of the dead carcass of that
- 20:33Speaker 1: they will.
- 20:33Speaker 4: Not Yeah, here's here's here's the thing. When they go
- 20:43Speaker 4: when they go to the when they go to the
- 20:47Speaker 4: studio and they're like, hey, we want I don't know
- 20:49Speaker 4: what is the cost to make one of these movies?
- 20:54Speaker 4: We need we need hundreds of millions of dollars. What, well,
- 20:56Speaker 4: what's the movie? Well, you know, it's it's it's Star Trek,
- 20:59Speaker 4: it's Kirk, it's Spot, it's McCoy. But these are these
- 21:01Speaker 4: are the younger versions, and they're gonna go Don't we
- 21:04Speaker 4: already have a show about that? Yeah, that we that
- 21:08Speaker 4: we only half renewed for the fifth season. No, no,
- 21:13Speaker 4: we're not giving you two hundred million dollars for that
- 21:15Speaker 4: go away. Yeah, yeah, it's not gonna happen.
- 21:19Speaker 6: No, it's not.
- 21:20Speaker 7: So there you go. That's where we're at with the
- 21:23Speaker 7: with the new movie, and then our last news story.
- 21:27Speaker 7: Let's see, it comes to us from I believe it
- 21:30Speaker 7: is space dot com. Yeah, yeah, space dot com. Uh
- 21:36Speaker 7: this uh what is it? The eighteenth is that Wednesday
- 21:40Speaker 7: in Seattle, William Shatner, uh, Kirk himself and astrophysicist Neil
- 21:46Speaker 7: deGrasse Tyson will be teaming up for a live show.
- 21:49Speaker 7: It's called The Universe Is Absurd. Tickets are still available
- 21:52Speaker 7: if you're in the Seattle area. It will be at
- 21:55Speaker 7: the McCaw Hall. Tickets from what I when I looked
- 21:59Speaker 7: them up, we're anywhere from three hundred dollars to like
- 22:03Speaker 7: six hundred dollars just foresee much less than need VAB packages.
- 22:08Speaker 7: But it's gonna be these two. Yeah.
- 22:10Speaker 4: Can we just take a minute and just recognize that
- 22:14Speaker 4: Neil de grass Tyson is the undisputed champion of what
- 22:19Speaker 4: I'm going to dub right now astrotainment.
- 22:22Speaker 7: Mm hmmm.
- 22:24Speaker 1: Yes.
- 22:26Speaker 4: He has taken science and astrophysics and just turned it
- 22:30Speaker 4: into entertainment. I mean, he's got a podcast, he's got
- 22:33Speaker 4: a TV show, he does these things. He's a guest
- 22:37Speaker 4: on Everything good him.
- 22:41Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm a big Neil your Grass Tyson fan. I
- 22:43Speaker 2: listened to his podcast, yeh, you know a couple times
- 22:46Speaker 2: a week, Star Talk, you know.
- 22:49Speaker 4: Yep.
- 22:50Speaker 7: He's a professional, smart guy.
- 22:52Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, well absolutely right. Like like you said, you know,
- 22:57Speaker 2: his his tagline is where science and pop culture collide. Yeah,
- 23:01Speaker 2: he's he's bringing science to.
- 23:04Speaker 1: To the people. Yeah.
- 23:07Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 23:08Speaker 2: And let's you know, let's not sleep on on William Shatner,
- 23:12Speaker 2: the other guy you know, for he's what ninety three
- 23:15Speaker 2: years old, ninety four, he's you know, he's recently been
- 23:20Speaker 2: to space. Is you know, say what you will about him, Like,
- 23:24Speaker 2: you know, there's there's different things that people have said
- 23:26Speaker 2: about him, especially like on the set of Star Trek
- 23:28Speaker 2: and you know how big his ego is.
- 23:30Speaker 1: Dude's still sharp as.
- 23:31Speaker 4: Attack, yeah yeah.
- 23:34Speaker 7: And still walking around moving Yeah yeah.
- 23:38Speaker 2: I hope I'm a spry at eighty as he is
- 23:42Speaker 2: at ninety four.
- 23:43Speaker 7: Right, yeah so but yeah, So if you're in the
- 23:46Speaker 7: Seattle area, this seems like a fun show. I would
- 23:50Speaker 7: go if I live closer. It's pretty far from me.
- 23:54Speaker 7: But but yeah, so there you go.
- 23:57Speaker 1: Yeap, looks like a good time.
- 23:59Speaker 7: Yeah, all right, I guess now it's time to move
- 24:06Speaker 7: into our main topic where we're gonna rank the Star
- 24:09Speaker 7: Trek dads.
- 24:09Speaker 6: So oh we go fun.
- 24:12Speaker 8: Well, now connect.
- 24:18Speaker 7: All right, So I I put together one of these
- 24:21Speaker 7: your lists like we've done before. The Internet loves these
- 24:27Speaker 7: because so so Scott had the great idea. It's only
- 24:31Speaker 7: gonna be from the movies and the TV shows. We're
- 24:34Speaker 7: not gonna get into books, the video games, your fan fiction.
- 24:43Speaker 1: And then the other rule and we're not gonna do
- 24:46Speaker 1: Daddy Daniel.
- 24:47Speaker 4: No, he's going right to the top, right right.
- 24:51Speaker 7: The other thing to you to remember, people, Uh, this
- 24:54Speaker 7: is the definitive list. If you disagree with it, I'm
- 24:57Speaker 7: sorry you're wrong. We do not make up the rules.
- 25:01Speaker 7: This is just how it works. So that this is
- 25:04Speaker 7: the list. I kind of feel like we should do
- 25:08Speaker 7: like maybe a couple like like pegs of of here's
- 25:13Speaker 7: a bad dad, here's a good dad, here's a middle dad.
- 25:15Speaker 7: Like set those and then we can we can kind
- 25:18Speaker 7: of Yeah, I feel like, who do you want to
- 25:25Speaker 7: go for bad dad? Like immediately, Yeah, that's that's kind
- 25:29Speaker 7: of what I thought. So we're immediately goes down to
- 25:34Speaker 7: the d He's just he's just done. Who do you
- 25:40Speaker 7: want to peg for a good dad?
- 25:45Speaker 4: Let's see.
- 25:52Speaker 6: Dad?
- 25:53Speaker 7: She was like the middle of the road dad.
- 25:55Speaker 1: I got one and it's controversial.
- 25:57Speaker 7: Okay, I's what I think. Du Katt Ducott from middle
- 26:02Speaker 7: of the road.
- 26:03Speaker 1: Yep, And let me explain to you why the guy
- 26:06Speaker 1: own daughter. No, he didn't murder his daughter.
- 26:09Speaker 4: No, he's just thought about it.
- 26:12Speaker 2: Yeah, he just thought about it, but didn't. Okay, his
- 26:15Speaker 2: right hand man murdered his daughter. So Damar murdered his daughter.
- 26:22Speaker 2: Think about what Ducott sacrificed for his daughter, what he
- 26:26Speaker 2: allowed his daughter to do in her best interest. Zial
- 26:29Speaker 2: was allowed to stay on the station with Kira so
- 26:33Speaker 2: Dukat for his own daughter's sake, said, I'm going to
- 26:37Speaker 2: allow my daughter stay on a station that brings back
- 26:42Speaker 2: so many bad memories with a person that I hate,
- 26:45Speaker 2: Major Kira, because it's in her own best interests. So
- 26:48Speaker 2: he was able to set aside his hatred and his
- 26:51Speaker 2: bias of Bajorans and of the Federation and of Deep
- 26:55Speaker 2: Space nine because it was in Ziel's best interest.
- 27:00Speaker 7: How many Mile of the Road dads do you know saying, hey,
- 27:03Speaker 7: where are the monuments to my greatness?
- 27:06Speaker 2: I'm just saying that, Hey, look some you know, you
- 27:10Speaker 2: might be a fair to Midland dad, but a complete
- 27:14Speaker 2: jerk in other areas.
- 27:15Speaker 1: Of your life. I'm just okay. I'm not saying he
- 27:18Speaker 1: didn't commit mass genocide.
- 27:20Speaker 7: Okay, I would say for the Middle of the Road dad,
- 27:22Speaker 7: it's miles. He's a working man, he'sa gets frustrated, he goes.
- 27:29Speaker 4: But but but he took his family off the most
- 27:34Speaker 4: comfortable ship in the fleet and put them in the
- 27:37Speaker 4: ass crack of space on the front on the front here.
- 27:44Speaker 7: Just so you can go hang out with Julian all
- 27:46Speaker 7: the time.
- 27:47Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, yeah, come on, let's move off of the
- 27:50Speaker 4: Enterprise and go to this uh rotating bicycle wheel in
- 27:55Speaker 4: the sky right next to right next, well in the beginning,
- 27:59Speaker 4: uh uh, right next to the enemy, i e. The Cardassians,
- 28:03Speaker 4: and for the next seven years, right right next to
- 28:06Speaker 4: the enemy, the dominion.
- 28:07Speaker 7: M hm.
- 28:09Speaker 4: So I don't know, as a dad, no, no.
- 28:17Speaker 1: Okay, maybe what are we gonna put him a B
- 28:20Speaker 1: or C.
- 28:21Speaker 4: There's you know, Scott, your military guy. There's base housing. Yeah,
- 28:25Speaker 4: and then there's bringing your family on the aircraft carrier
- 28:28Speaker 4: with you, right.
- 28:29Speaker 1: Yeah. He definitely went from like nice air force base housing,
- 28:36Speaker 1: not even an aircraft carrier.
- 28:38Speaker 4: Getting this getting this up.
- 28:40Speaker 7: Yeah, you I didn't know you had a child on
- 28:47Speaker 7: the show.
- 28:47Speaker 1: He had a child on Voyager Yeah, yeah, you and
- 28:51Speaker 1: had a child named Q.
- 28:53Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 28:54Speaker 1: And that's a fun fact. That was John Delancy's actual son.
- 28:58Speaker 1: That's his son.
- 29:00Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 29:01Speaker 7: All right, so the middle of the road dad, we're
- 29:04Speaker 7: going with with Miles.
- 29:07Speaker 2: Let's throw him up there for right now as a B.
- 29:10Speaker 2: Let's remind the listeners to what the rankings are. There's
- 29:12Speaker 2: S that stands for super I guess, and then A B,
- 29:16Speaker 2: C and D.
- 29:17Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 29:19Speaker 7: This apparently this is based off some sort of Japanese
- 29:23Speaker 7: measuring system and the Internet loves it.
- 29:25Speaker 2: Okay, Yeah, so we've got S A, B C D,
- 29:29Speaker 2: where S is the best and D is the worst superior.
- 29:34Speaker 7: Okay, I don't know whatever, man, it's yeah, this is
- 29:39Speaker 7: the order.
- 29:40Speaker 4: Yeah, so what are we doing now? We're picking another
- 29:43Speaker 4: bad dad?
- 29:43Speaker 7: Well, but we just go down the line. So first
- 29:46Speaker 7: one on the list here is Jack Crusher.
- 29:50Speaker 4: We don't know anything about it.
- 29:51Speaker 2: We don't know much about him as as far as
- 29:53Speaker 2: parenting abilities. I mean, we know how he knows how
- 29:55Speaker 2: to die, now we don't.
- 29:58Speaker 4: We know he set up the camp quarder before he died.
- 30:01Speaker 2: The things he said on the camcorder makes me feel
- 30:05Speaker 2: like he was a good dad, you know, just the
- 30:08Speaker 2: fact that he took the time to you know, make
- 30:13Speaker 2: a recording for his kid.
- 30:14Speaker 4: And yeah, okay, so here's the thing. Let's imagine. Let's
- 30:19Speaker 4: imagine that you're in a your you play your very
- 30:22Speaker 4: first game of baseball. You have one at bat and
- 30:27Speaker 4: and you belt one over the second basement and uh
- 30:33Speaker 4: and you get a triple okay, right, and then the
- 30:36Speaker 4: next inning you die. Are you a great baseball player? No,
- 30:50Speaker 4: I'm not saying you're a bad baseball player, but there's
- 30:55Speaker 4: there's there is not a statistically there's not a there's
- 31:02Speaker 4: not a statistically significant amount of data him as a
- 31:06Speaker 4: good father.
- 31:07Speaker 2: He hits another who doesn't touch home. Yeah, you know,
- 31:11Speaker 2: the first base or the catcher says what should I do?
- 31:13Speaker 2: And Wharf says, find him and kill him, and.
- 31:16Speaker 1: That's what happens. That's how Jack, that's what happened.
- 31:18Speaker 7: Yep, Yeah, I agree with you, Dan. I don't think
- 31:22Speaker 7: there's enough information. I also think though Beverly won't shut
- 31:27Speaker 7: up about him all the time, and Wesley so clearly
- 31:30Speaker 7: that he was good at something. But because we the
- 31:33Speaker 7: audience don't have enough, I would say c list not
- 31:36Speaker 7: quite horrible, but a little sub barga is we don't
- 31:39Speaker 7: have enough info.
- 31:40Speaker 4: Yeah, but I would I wouldn't know, no, no, And
- 31:44Speaker 4: that's why I would say, you put him right in
- 31:46Speaker 4: the middle.
- 31:46Speaker 1: I I agree, put him right in the middle of
- 31:49Speaker 1: solid b.
- 31:50Speaker 7: Okay, we'll put him b.
- 31:52Speaker 1: U.
- 31:53Speaker 7: Next one is Kneelix.
- 31:55Speaker 4: Nelox is nobody's dad.
- 31:57Speaker 7: Wasn't he a stepfather?
- 31:58Speaker 1: At the end of stepfather to that Talaxian kid?
- 32:02Speaker 4: Did he marry did he marry her?
- 32:04Speaker 1: He said he was going to ask her to marry.
- 32:07Speaker 4: That's not the same thing. It's not a step dad.
- 32:11Speaker 4: He's mom's boyfriend.
- 32:14Speaker 1: But we can't punish him for not being a dad.
- 32:17Speaker 4: No, I say, don't even put him on the list.
- 32:19Speaker 1: It's like it's like, put Riker up there. Oh, wait,
- 32:23Speaker 1: Riker is up there. Put a card up there?
- 32:28Speaker 7: In there is he?
- 32:30Speaker 4: Yeah? What was he a father?
- 32:31Speaker 9: Wait a minute, that's right, and in the inner light,
- 32:38Speaker 9: I'm going to fall.
- 32:43Speaker 7: Was not a father, all was not a father. Good job,
- 32:47Speaker 7: thank you, thanks, thanks for that.
- 32:49Speaker 4: Yeah, all right, I'll take him, take him off, Take
- 32:54Speaker 4: him off.
- 32:55Speaker 7: How about the doctor from Voyager? He had that hollow family.
- 32:58Speaker 4: Give them a D. Give him a D. He is
- 33:02Speaker 4: the most control He's the most controlling father I've ever met.
- 33:08Speaker 4: Evidence by the fact that he literally programmed his family.
- 33:11Speaker 7: That's true.
- 33:12Speaker 1: And then he bailed on him when things got rough.
- 33:14Speaker 7: That's true.
- 33:15Speaker 1: He went out for milk. Yeah, yeahs peace out.
- 33:24Speaker 6: That Yeah all right.
- 33:27Speaker 7: The next one was Sulu from the movies the Kelvin Universe, and.
- 33:34Speaker 2: Well there's also evidence that he was a father in
- 33:36Speaker 2: the regular universe.
- 33:38Speaker 4: Uh yeah, yeah. Again. I don't think there's enough data
- 33:44Speaker 4: to form an opinion, so I will put him in
- 33:47Speaker 4: the bee column.
- 33:48Speaker 2: The h I think we have to. Yeah, I mean
- 33:53Speaker 2: she ended up in Starfleet.
- 33:54Speaker 1: And and she uh, she said that, you know, dad
- 33:59Speaker 1: told a lot of stories about you know, the you
- 34:02Speaker 1: know so I think good dads tell tell good stories,
- 34:05Speaker 1: you know.
- 34:06Speaker 7: So yeah, all right, Uh the next one probably uh
- 34:13Speaker 7: Dad of the year, Magnus Hansen, a k A. Seven
- 34:16Speaker 7: and Nine's dad.
- 34:19Speaker 1: Yeah. Uh.
- 34:22Speaker 7: Now he took his daughter to observe the borg. That's
- 34:26Speaker 7: bad dad right there.
- 34:28Speaker 1: That is that that is bad Yeah.
- 34:31Speaker 7: It's all sorts of bad dad.
- 34:33Speaker 4: Yep.
- 34:34Speaker 1: But he by all accounts, he appeared to be loving.
- 34:39Speaker 7: Oh look at the giant, the beautiful great white shark.
- 34:42Speaker 7: Don't stand too near a kid.
- 34:46Speaker 1: Come on, we gotta have some sea dads out there.
- 34:49Speaker 7: Okay, he didn't do it, Okay, I could see see
- 34:52Speaker 7: because he wasn't like malicious, Like he wasn't like I
- 34:55Speaker 7: can't wait for my daughter to turn it a borg.
- 34:57Speaker 7: But he's also not thinking things through.
- 34:59Speaker 1: War was neglectful. But this guy was just not thinking
- 35:03Speaker 1: things through bad dad.
- 35:10Speaker 7: Either way, you're bored, doesn't matter.
- 35:14Speaker 1: All ended up together anyways. They were one big, happy family. Yep.
- 35:21Speaker 1: Just just extended all right.
- 35:23Speaker 7: Now we got Picard Admiral Picard with his adult son.
- 35:33Speaker 2: That's a tough one because like Kurt, I knew he
- 35:38Speaker 2: had a kid, but stayed away because Marcus asked him to.
- 35:41Speaker 2: Picard didn't even know he had a son. Yeah, and
- 35:44Speaker 2: then tried really hard at the end. So you can't
- 35:47Speaker 2: make him a bad dad.
- 35:49Speaker 4: Yeah, you know, I'm gonna put him. I'm gonna say, yeah,
- 35:55Speaker 4: I can't argue with that because I also I also
- 35:59Speaker 4: can't help but think about his his time in the
- 36:05Speaker 4: Nexus and how much he wanted to be a dad.
- 36:08Speaker 4: Think about his time in the Inner Light when he
- 36:12Speaker 4: experienced fatherhood and grandfatherhood and you know how important all
- 36:17Speaker 4: that was to him, and and encouraging his his son
- 36:20Speaker 4: while also trying to keep him on the right path
- 36:23Speaker 4: and become successful. So I think he he was is
- 36:29Speaker 4: could have been a good dad. He's not Rom.
- 36:33Speaker 6: But I have.
- 36:38Speaker 2: To ignore first season Rom because first season Rom was
- 36:44Speaker 2: kind of a dick.
- 36:46Speaker 7: Yeah, they didn't know the character yet.
- 36:48Speaker 1: They didn't because he was all like I don't want you,
- 36:51Speaker 1: you know, hanging out with these humans and well he
- 36:57Speaker 1: also tried to kill his brother.
- 36:59Speaker 4: He was in first Let's look at it this way.
- 37:02Speaker 4: In the first season, he was a good Uh, he
- 37:07Speaker 4: was a good father judging by Ferengi standards.
- 37:10Speaker 1: That's true.
- 37:11Speaker 4: Yeah, and as time went on and he was exposed
- 37:15Speaker 4: to the greater world around him, he was a good
- 37:17Speaker 4: dad by universal standards.
- 37:20Speaker 1: Right, okay, yeah, do you.
- 37:22Speaker 7: See his latest chat. I can't watch this now, but
- 37:26Speaker 7: I'm so glad to see Dan is alive. I thought
- 37:28Speaker 7: Stratager had locked him up with.
- 37:29Speaker 10: Chad, who said that, uh, monomena, mon manomena.
- 37:44Speaker 1: Oh you're gonna get that in everybody's heads.
- 37:45Speaker 4: Now, yep, all right.
- 37:47Speaker 7: Next one is Jordy.
- 37:50Speaker 2: Jordy definitely not worst U.
- 37:56Speaker 1: Because he's a bit controlling.
- 38:00Speaker 7: He's running the museum. His daughters are in Starfleet. They
- 38:04Speaker 7: seem all good with them. There's no like anger between
- 38:08Speaker 7: them all.
- 38:10Speaker 4: Dad not being home for dinner, which implies that even
- 38:15Speaker 4: as adults, his children still visit home. Yeah, which you know,
- 38:21Speaker 4: if you're not a good parent, as soon as they're
- 38:23Speaker 4: out of the house, they want nothing to do with you.
- 38:25Speaker 1: Right.
- 38:25Speaker 2: Yeah, I call it a I wouldn't call it s
- 38:27Speaker 2: the top two just because he seems to be a
- 38:29Speaker 2: little bit overprotective.
- 38:31Speaker 7: Yes, but I think As is pretty good. Yeah, all right,
- 38:35Speaker 7: Next one, is Sarah Spock's dad.
- 38:39Speaker 2: There are so many iterations, and all three of them
- 38:43Speaker 2: have displayed dickish qualities, yes, but in the end they
- 38:51Speaker 2: always seem to And again we're kind of anthropomortiphizing these
- 38:56Speaker 2: dad qualities a little bit. So we do we judge
- 39:01Speaker 2: this based on our standards on Vulcan standards.
- 39:05Speaker 7: I think it's gonna be ours, right, because we're judging
- 39:07Speaker 7: off what we know, right, So I would say, yeah.
- 39:12Speaker 2: He always seemed to be a pretty shitty, not horrible,
- 39:16Speaker 2: just you know, he just didn't groove of anything you do.
- 39:20Speaker 2: And human friends are trash, and you.
- 39:23Speaker 4: Know, for for holding himself to Vulcan standards and always
- 39:27Speaker 4: trying to hold his human half human son to Vulcan standards.
- 39:32Speaker 4: He only he only shags human ladies, right.
- 39:36Speaker 2: Well, because he's he's you know, the ambassadors to the Federation,
- 39:40Speaker 2: So you know.
- 39:41Speaker 1: It's it makes it was logical, yeah, Mary and Amanda
- 39:45Speaker 1: was was logical. Ye.
- 39:47Speaker 4: But even his later wife, the one on TG she
- 39:50Speaker 4: was she was human.
- 39:52Speaker 2: Yeah right, yeah, all right, so se list yeah, next one.
- 40:00Speaker 7: Riker mm hmmm.
- 40:05Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 40:06Speaker 2: So he literally quit Starfleet and moved a planet away
- 40:10Speaker 2: to help to try to save his son.
- 40:12Speaker 7: Yeah, and make pizza and make pizza and repair and
- 40:18Speaker 7: repair his family life.
- 40:21Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm going to give him an a.
- 40:24Speaker 7: Yeah, I think you can make an argument for s
- 40:27Speaker 7: that's a lot of sacrifice.
- 40:29Speaker 1: That is a lot of sacrifice.
- 40:31Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 40:32Speaker 2: Well okay, is there anything to detract from him?
- 40:35Speaker 1: Then?
- 40:38Speaker 6: I don't think so.
- 40:40Speaker 7: Like he had his party days, right, yeah, he put
- 40:45Speaker 7: those behind him once he had a family. He sacrificed
- 40:48Speaker 7: everything to be with him.
- 40:50Speaker 4: Yeah. So at some point he will have to have
- 40:54Speaker 4: a conversation with his daughter because she's going she's going
- 40:58Speaker 4: to look the timeline and say, when did you and
- 41:01Speaker 4: mom meet? Um hmm, And when did you start When
- 41:04Speaker 4: did you start dating? Uh huh? And when did you
- 41:08Speaker 4: serve on the enterprise together? Uh huh? And then you
- 41:13Speaker 4: got married.
- 41:14Speaker 1: When this time?
- 41:15Speaker 4: When did you get married? Yeah, so you talk about
- 41:19Speaker 4: he had his fun, he had his fun while she
- 41:22Speaker 4: was standing there watching him do it. Yeah, that's that's
- 41:26Speaker 4: kind of And then and then he has a daughter,
- 41:31Speaker 4: so he now has to explain that to his daughter.
- 41:35Speaker 4: So you know, just imagine having to explain to your daughter,
- 41:39Speaker 4: why why you were so shitty to mom for those
- 41:42Speaker 4: ten years? Yeah, So I don't know.
- 41:44Speaker 1: You explain that, you explained that to him.
- 41:50Speaker 7: Is he in the basement too?
- 41:51Speaker 1: Can we get that we keep him there? Doesn't he
- 41:54Speaker 1: look like he could be my father?
- 41:58Speaker 7: I don't know did your mom want? And right now
- 42:00Speaker 7: we can ask Scott, Scott, do you do you want
- 42:03Speaker 7: him to be your father?
- 42:05Speaker 1: I love da. We could we could we could just
- 42:08Speaker 1: say a little bit like.
- 42:10Speaker 4: We could just we could just say that he is
- 42:12Speaker 4: it's it's yeah, that'll make you if that'll make you
- 42:15Speaker 4: feel better?
- 42:18Speaker 7: All right, So we've put him age here. I say, yeah, yeah,
- 42:26Speaker 7: all right, I'm just saying an argument can be made
- 42:29Speaker 7: for us.
- 42:29Speaker 1: I think an argument can be made for us.
- 42:31Speaker 2: And once this is all in place, we can we
- 42:33Speaker 2: can read yeah.
- 42:36Speaker 7: Yeah, yeah, we can move from all right? The next
- 42:39Speaker 7: one Booker Cleveland Booker. Who is this from Discovery?
- 42:44Speaker 1: Oh? There was a show called Discovery.
- 42:47Speaker 4: Oh is this the guy? Is this the guy who
- 42:49Speaker 4: was in season three of twenty one Jump Street and
- 42:51Speaker 4: then got his own show for one season?
- 42:53Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 42:54Speaker 4: I don't think he was a dad.
- 42:55Speaker 1: Yeah he was.
- 42:57Speaker 7: At the end right at the end of Discovery. We
- 42:59Speaker 7: saw the prolog where they had a kid.
- 43:01Speaker 1: Yeah, we saw nothing of their relationship.
- 43:04Speaker 4: Yeah, we saw nothing, nothing.
- 43:06Speaker 1: So we'll throw them in the bee column. We have
- 43:09Speaker 1: almost no information.
- 43:11Speaker 6: Okay, well, I mean we don't have any information.
- 43:14Speaker 1: And then there's Miles who was like, eh, he was good,
- 43:17Speaker 1: not great.
- 43:18Speaker 7: I mean, based off the earlier argument, their adult son
- 43:21Speaker 7: did come back to visit when they were still an
- 43:24Speaker 7: adult him and hang out with the family, so that
- 43:27Speaker 7: that's all good dad behavior stuff.
- 43:30Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, but I don't.
- 43:31Speaker 4: But I don't like him, and I don't like the
- 43:33Speaker 4: show he was on. Well part of that are you
- 43:36Speaker 4: not getting.
- 43:38Speaker 1: Wait, you didn't like it?
- 43:39Speaker 4: A cat? I hate cats?
- 43:44Speaker 6: Wow?
- 43:46Speaker 4: Dog person man?
- 43:47Speaker 6: Yeah?
- 43:48Speaker 4: All right, put it this way. Put it this way.
- 43:50Speaker 4: How many times have I jumped out of this van
- 43:52Speaker 4: to go save a cat?
- 43:54Speaker 1: Oh?
- 43:54Speaker 4: And I can't think of that boom?
- 43:58Speaker 7: All right, Next one, Doc the bank from the Strange
- 44:02Speaker 7: two Worlds.
- 44:04Speaker 4: I'm gonna give Yeah, I'm gonna I'm gonna give him
- 44:07Speaker 4: the A Yeah, me too. This this guy, this guy lied,
- 44:12Speaker 4: lied to his his employer, stole from his employer, falsified
- 44:16Speaker 4: records from his employer, and his government yep, to save
- 44:23Speaker 4: his daughter.
- 44:24Speaker 2: Yeah, and then in the end made the most difficult
- 44:27Speaker 2: decision to let his daughter.
- 44:28Speaker 7: Go, yeah, yeah, yep, I agree with you.
- 44:33Speaker 1: That's some good dad stuff right there.
- 44:36Speaker 4: So he may he may shift to the S column
- 44:41Speaker 4: upon argument later.
- 44:43Speaker 2: But to be an S dad is to be a
- 44:49Speaker 2: kind of dumb, I mean a little bit loving.
- 44:54Speaker 4: Yeah, you know, I think I think there's more than that.
- 44:59Speaker 4: He he he rejected everything about his own culture and
- 45:06Speaker 4: put his son first. He rejected everything in his own
- 45:09Speaker 4: life and put his son first, and threaten and threatened
- 45:13Speaker 4: to burn his brother's business to the grand if you
- 45:17Speaker 4: f with my son again, I will burn the bar
- 45:20Speaker 4: to the ground. That Yeah, he stays there. He stays
- 45:25Speaker 4: right there in that column, don't you think about Yeah?
- 45:28Speaker 1: Right right, all right, let's go to this next jack
- 45:31Speaker 1: at this guy.
- 45:33Speaker 4: Richard Basher put him right down in the D column.
- 45:37Speaker 4: Not only is he a terrible dad, he is probably
- 45:40Speaker 4: the worst human being in the history of Star Trek.
- 45:44Speaker 4: And he is a perfect example of why communism and
- 45:48Speaker 4: socialism will never work. Class class a piece of ship.
- 45:55Speaker 4: He lived in you, he lived in utopia. Everything he
- 46:01Speaker 4: wanted and needed was provided to him by his government.
- 46:06Speaker 4: And his son was his son was a little bit slow. Yeah,
- 46:10Speaker 4: So so he subjected his son to dangerous and illegal
- 46:16Speaker 4: medical experimentation for what for his own ego? His son
- 46:21Speaker 4: lived in utopia. Also, his son would have had every
- 46:24Speaker 4: need provided to him for his entire life. That was
- 46:28Speaker 4: not good enough for this piece of shit right here, okay.
- 46:31Speaker 4: And then he spent the rest of his days pretending
- 46:35Speaker 4: he was a viable member of society. Oh, a lirdscape architect.
- 46:39Speaker 4: Shut up your piece of garbage. He contributes nothing, nothing, nothing,
- 46:48Speaker 4: So that.
- 46:49Speaker 1: What I'm hearing, right, Do you not like doctor Bashir's dead?
- 46:54Speaker 4: No?
- 46:55Speaker 2: Now, in the end, he does sacrifice his freedoms for
- 46:59Speaker 2: his son's career.
- 47:01Speaker 4: Yeah, let me give you and even and even that,
- 47:03Speaker 4: and even that was look at what I'm doing for you?
- 47:07Speaker 1: Okay, okay.
- 47:09Speaker 7: Did doctor Besure, though, with his enhance abilities, not save
- 47:14Speaker 7: an entire planet from a horrific plague?
- 47:17Speaker 1: Hey? Sins of the father and you know, the good
- 47:20Speaker 1: deeds of the sun don't make a good you know.
- 47:23Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm saying here, And here's the thing. Even in
- 47:27Speaker 4: the end, Yeah, he went to prison. He went to
- 47:29Speaker 4: Federation prison, right he would We saw we saw a
- 47:34Speaker 4: Federation prison.
- 47:36Speaker 7: Is that what they call it?
- 47:37Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 47:38Speaker 4: It was, you know, Tom Parris, you know, oh, I'm
- 47:40Speaker 4: gardening today, right, But.
- 47:42Speaker 2: Yeah, Julians have nothing to do with it. I mean,
- 47:46Speaker 2: my dad was a great guy. But you know the
- 47:48Speaker 2: fact that i'm you know, an awesome trek cast host
- 47:51Speaker 2: is not reflected on. It doesn't make my dad a
- 47:53Speaker 2: great guy.
- 47:54Speaker 1: My dad was a great guy. That's a great guy.
- 47:57Speaker 7: So all right, Next one restaurant Cisco.
- 48:01Speaker 4: Joseph Cisco lied to his son about who his mother was.
- 48:05Speaker 1: Oh that's that's a few deduction points right there.
- 48:09Speaker 4: Yeah, but he but he makes good gumbo, so you know,
- 48:15Speaker 4: and and his his his adult son visits him all
- 48:18Speaker 4: the time.
- 48:18Speaker 2: Well, they do seem to have a good relationship, you know, and.
- 48:23Speaker 7: He's got a good relationship with his grandson.
- 48:25Speaker 1: Pushed him to shove.
- 48:26Speaker 2: You know, Old Cisco decided, I'm gonna go on this
- 48:29Speaker 2: trek with you, son, because you know, you seem to
- 48:32Speaker 2: need all the help you can get.
- 48:33Speaker 1: So I'm gonna shut the restaurant down, and I'm gonna
- 48:35Speaker 1: comb the desert sands, not actual combs.
- 48:41Speaker 7: But yeah, he also was difficult though, when when they
- 48:45Speaker 7: were trying to uh basically do them looking for change.
- 48:51Speaker 4: Yeah, he also uh he also conspired with the Klingons
- 48:55Speaker 4: and the Romulans to keep the Federation at war with the.
- 48:59Speaker 1: True with the on. So how's the time to bring
- 49:03Speaker 1: them to their knees.
- 49:06Speaker 7: He didn't say that.
- 49:08Speaker 1: He did say that. So for those of you who
- 49:11Speaker 1: don't know Ben's uh what's his name?
- 49:15Speaker 2: Joseph Cisco and Admiral Cartwright, who were played by.
- 49:18Speaker 1: The same actor.
- 49:19Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, Brock Peters.
- 49:23Speaker 7: Are thinking B list C list? What are we thinking? B?
- 49:27Speaker 1: Yeah, let's put it in B for now.
- 49:29Speaker 7: Yeah, because he's complicated like most people.
- 49:31Speaker 6: He's done some good, he's done some bad.
- 49:34Speaker 7: Speaking of complicated, Kirk James c C see really yeah.
- 49:41Speaker 2: An argument maybe made could be made for B. But
- 49:44Speaker 2: I mean, Carol Marcus asked him for this. Don't don't
- 49:51Speaker 2: contact David, don't be in his life. I don't want
- 49:55Speaker 2: you in his life. But a good dad would have said,
- 49:59Speaker 2: you know what threw that, I'm going to be in
- 50:01Speaker 2: this kid's life no matter what you say, even though
- 50:03Speaker 2: you don't like my lifestyle.
- 50:05Speaker 1: You know I'm a good person and he deserves no
- 50:08Speaker 1: so yet see see yeah.
- 50:11Speaker 4: So here here's a here's a question. So, since there's
- 50:16Speaker 4: no money in the federation, what's child what's child support?
- 50:20Speaker 1: Look like.
- 50:24Speaker 4: Seventeen zero zero right, yeah.
- 50:30Speaker 1: Yeah, I have seventeen percent of my non star fleet,
- 50:34Speaker 1: hey said to Carol Marcus everyone.
- 50:37Speaker 7: Yeah, all right, next one worst dad Rashinko.
- 50:43Speaker 1: Play him near the top of the list.
- 50:46Speaker 2: Was a problem child that Serge had to deal with,
- 50:51Speaker 2: and that right there gives him a lot of parent points.
- 50:54Speaker 7: Didn't didn't murder another kid as a kid.
- 50:57Speaker 1: Yeah, well I wouldn't call it murder at murder though they.
- 51:01Speaker 2: Yeah, they talked about that story in Day's nine. They
- 51:03Speaker 2: were playing soccer and yeah, they both went up for the.
- 51:06Speaker 1: Ball and and they knocked heads and the other kid died.
- 51:11Speaker 1: Wharfs that he barely felt it.
- 51:13Speaker 4: Wharf Wharf was not only a he was not only adopted,
- 51:20Speaker 4: and he was not only an orphan. He was a
- 51:22Speaker 4: war orphan. M M yeah, so you know his dad,
- 51:29Speaker 4: Serge is that his name Jenko was an enlisted He
- 51:35Speaker 4: wasn't even an officer. He was an enlisted member of
- 51:37Speaker 4: Starfleet who who took this child of the enemy as
- 51:44Speaker 4: his own son and raised him and loved him as
- 51:47Speaker 4: his own son and even arranged, even arranged for him
- 51:52Speaker 4: to visit his family on on Kronos from time.
- 51:55Speaker 1: To time still still.
- 51:59Speaker 4: Still now you're right, yeah, put him up there still
- 52:02Speaker 4: made sure to expose him to his own, his own
- 52:07Speaker 4: culture and what's good, that's good.
- 52:10Speaker 7: Following right there, this ward asshle who was always I
- 52:13Speaker 7: am son of mo I am.
- 52:17Speaker 4: Yes, yes, yeah, Actually in Picards season three, didn't he
- 52:24Speaker 4: didn't he introduce himself as didn't he throw of the house?
- 52:31Speaker 1: Yeah, of the house.
- 52:32Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't even think he mentioned son of Mogue
- 52:37Speaker 2: of the house mark of the House of Rugenka.
- 52:40Speaker 1: Yeah, pops and some props, all right, yeah, an adopted son,
- 52:48Speaker 1: you know, adopted dad, a lot of props war orphan.
- 52:52Speaker 7: Yeah, yeah, are sure that that's you got me? All right?
- 52:57Speaker 1: Trip?
- 53:02Speaker 7: Not because baby? And then he was also pregnant on
- 53:06Speaker 7: that one ship, so that's true.
- 53:08Speaker 4: And he also he also fathered a clone of himself.
- 53:12Speaker 7: He's a father multiple.
- 53:13Speaker 1: Times in all the ways you can be.
- 53:16Speaker 4: A Trip is a triple father. Yes, oh nice.
- 53:22Speaker 2: Yes, you know that scene where after the baby dies,
- 53:32Speaker 2: you got to hand it to the actor.
- 53:33Speaker 1: I I really liked that scene. He brought that.
- 53:36Speaker 2: I mean, he was obviously in the worst possible emotional
- 53:41Speaker 2: pain that you can be in when he was talking to.
- 53:44Speaker 1: Tapa and and.
- 53:46Speaker 2: And he said, you know, the doctor said that there's
- 53:50Speaker 2: no reason why a human and a vulcan couldn't, you know,
- 53:54Speaker 2: go on to raise a healthy you know, the reason
- 53:56Speaker 2: why our kid died had nothing.
- 53:57Speaker 1: To do with your vulcan.
- 53:58Speaker 2: And I'm human, and I mean I was bawling my
- 54:02Speaker 2: eyes out during that scene. And you could see Trips
- 54:06Speaker 2: pain kind of near to an excellent job in that
- 54:09Speaker 2: scene of just you know, breaking down emotionally. So that
- 54:15Speaker 2: that pain that he felt, the pain that he expressed,
- 54:18Speaker 2: I think is the sign of a good dad, you know,
- 54:22Speaker 2: even though we don't have a lot of information on him,
- 54:24Speaker 2: which I.
- 54:24Speaker 7: Think we don't have information. I think I could see
- 54:29Speaker 7: him being in a but we don't have enough.
- 54:33Speaker 1: So yeah, we might revisit that. But yeah, all.
- 54:39Speaker 7: Right, next one, Tom Barrism.
- 54:47Speaker 1: He was a father in the show for three minutes
- 54:51Speaker 1: and eleven seconds, So I'm.
- 54:55Speaker 4: Not in the Year of Hell. We saw was it
- 55:01Speaker 4: Year of Hell? No? Not Year of Hell? What's the
- 55:03Speaker 4: one where Cass was moving through time? We saw the different?
- 55:08Speaker 6: Yeah?
- 55:09Speaker 1: Right right? Yeah, and so he had he does have
- 55:14Speaker 1: a daughter with Cass who's dating Harry Kim.
- 55:17Speaker 4: And Harry Kim. Harry Kim should be on this list.
- 55:20Speaker 4: He had a daughter, Yeah, Tom was Tom's granddaughter.
- 55:25Speaker 1: Grand granddaughter. Yeah, okay, I mean with a confidence. It
- 55:33Speaker 1: makes everybody a pedophile because they're all yeah.
- 55:36Speaker 4: Except they went these two guys went from trying to
- 55:39Speaker 4: hook up with the Delaney sisters to one guy dating
- 55:41Speaker 4: the other guy's daughter. It's just weir.
- 55:43Speaker 1: Yeah, we're talking about yeah. I mean even Depaula was
- 55:50Speaker 1: like sixty three years old on on Enterprise.
- 55:52Speaker 7: So well, then where do you want to where do
- 55:58Speaker 7: you want to put him? Then sealift.
- 56:03Speaker 1: No, he wasn't a bad dad.
- 56:05Speaker 4: No, we just don't have any data. He's got to
- 56:08Speaker 4: go be all right.
- 56:12Speaker 2: And this list is kind of looking the way it's
- 56:14Speaker 2: supposed to. It's it's supposed to be kind of a belcher. Yeah,
- 56:19Speaker 2: all right, let's go with this next piece of ship.
- 56:23Speaker 4: Oh wait wait wait is this your granddad?
- 56:26Speaker 1: He is appost to be my grandfather.
- 56:28Speaker 2: He's right right, I'm gonna take a paris he squares
- 56:33Speaker 2: stick and shove it.
- 56:34Speaker 1: Anyways, So the way.
- 56:37Speaker 4: I'm going to judge the way I'm going to judge
- 56:41Speaker 4: him is I'm going to say that after seven years
- 56:47Speaker 4: of being stuck on that planet by himself and thinking
- 56:52Speaker 4: he will never see another human being again. Thomas Reiker
- 56:57Speaker 4: got rescued by the Enterprise D and had zero interest
- 57:01Speaker 4: in patching ship up with this piece of garbage. Ye. Yeah,
- 57:04Speaker 4: so for that reason, I'm gonna say D squarely in
- 57:09Speaker 4: the lumn.
- 57:11Speaker 7: Yeah, I can see that he didn't get along with
- 57:15Speaker 7: his kids. He was just an arrogant jerk. Yeah, D
- 57:19Speaker 7: list is.
- 57:21Speaker 2: All right because Ryker, I like, I really love Riker's character.
- 57:26Speaker 2: I think he's a great guy, and he's charismatic and
- 57:30Speaker 2: he's he's good with people. You know, if you're a
- 57:32Speaker 2: decent person, he likes you and gets along with you.
- 57:35Speaker 2: He couldn't stand his dad, so.
- 57:38Speaker 1: Right, Yeah, okay, freaks doesn't like you, then you're on
- 57:44Speaker 1: my ship list too.
- 57:46Speaker 4: Did you add did you add Kim or Oh? Okay?
- 57:53Speaker 6: Yeah?
- 57:54Speaker 7: Next is data.
- 58:02Speaker 2: I I think you're right. I think you gotta go
- 58:04Speaker 2: a he you break it down into its fatherhood, to
- 58:12Speaker 2: its base elements, and without emotions to guide him, he
- 58:19Speaker 2: he created a life and took care of it as
- 58:22Speaker 2: best he could.
- 58:25Speaker 1: Given the.
- 58:27Speaker 2: Yes, yeah he yeah, he did his I mean I
- 58:33Speaker 2: would imagine he did his best to save her. Yeah,
- 58:37Speaker 2: did what he thought was best, for the decisions he made,
- 58:40Speaker 2: for the way he guided her, you know, wanting to
- 58:45Speaker 2: stay on the enterprise.
- 58:47Speaker 6: Mm hmm.
- 58:48Speaker 2: Everything said, I'm a supportive, loving, nurturing dad. And and
- 58:53Speaker 2: by the way, I don't have any emotions to guide me.
- 58:55Speaker 7: When you confronted Raker, what are your intentions of my daughter?
- 58:58Speaker 1: Right?
- 58:59Speaker 4: Yeah, So here's the thing. I you know, there's something
- 59:04Speaker 4: that I've said to my kids from the time they
- 59:06Speaker 4: were very little, whenever they're scared about something. I asked
- 59:10Speaker 4: them a question. I said, what's daddy's number one job?
- 59:14Speaker 4: And they know the answer. They say, to protect me?
- 59:16Speaker 4: And I said, yeah, to protect you. I'm not gonna
- 59:18Speaker 4: let anything bad happen to you.
- 59:20Speaker 1: Yep.
- 59:21Speaker 4: And that's and I believe that that's the number one
- 59:23Speaker 4: job of a father and he and he did that so.
- 59:28Speaker 7: Yeah, yeah, yeah, he goes up top.
- 59:32Speaker 6: Yeah all right.
- 59:34Speaker 7: Harry Kim added into the rings he had a baby.
- 59:39Speaker 2: Right, and yeah, I think he should be right next
- 59:43Speaker 2: to Tom.
- 59:45Speaker 6: Okay, yeah, I can do that.
- 59:47Speaker 4: Yeah, put the put the weirdos together.
- 59:50Speaker 1: Put the weirdos together, they d and weirdos.
- 59:54Speaker 6: Yeah all right.
- 59:57Speaker 7: Admiral Paris.
- 1:00:01Speaker 1: Again, we don't have a ton of information.
- 1:00:04Speaker 2: Uh, we we a little bit about what Tom said.
- 1:00:08Speaker 7: Tom's kind of an asshole.
- 1:00:09Speaker 1: Tom is kind of an asshole.
- 1:00:11Speaker 2: And you know, I think in the end, Admiral Paris
- 1:00:17Speaker 2: was glad to see his son, no matter what the
- 1:00:19Speaker 2: circumstances were. But again, we I think I think Admiral
- 1:00:25Speaker 2: Paris belongs next to Lieutenant Paris.
- 1:00:28Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't think he did. In the end, he did.
- 1:00:36Speaker 4: I don't know. I don't think he did anything that
- 1:00:37Speaker 4: he wouldn't have done if his son wasn't on that ship.
- 1:00:41Speaker 4: He had a job to, you know, run the past
- 1:00:44Speaker 4: Finder program and bring Voyage home and he did it.
- 1:00:46Speaker 2: Yeah, and that just makes him a good Starfleet officer.
- 1:00:50Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:00:52Speaker 7: That that's why I think ce List like, yeah, all right, Q.
- 1:01:05Speaker 1: I mean.
- 1:01:07Speaker 2: I think got two episodes that where he was a father,
- 1:01:11Speaker 2: uh the very end of Q whatever Voyager episode where
- 1:01:16Speaker 2: they make a maybe and then the episode where Q
- 1:01:20Speaker 2: boy and echub Uh getting the high Hinks together, which
- 1:01:29Speaker 2: he wanted to abandon his kid.
- 1:01:31Speaker 4: And no, no, I don't think he wanted to abandon
- 1:01:34Speaker 4: his kid. I think he knew enough that I'm not
- 1:01:38Speaker 4: the best person to fix the problem. Right, For an
- 1:01:45Speaker 4: omnipotent being to say there's somebody who might know more
- 1:01:49Speaker 4: than this, more about this than.
- 1:01:51Speaker 7: Me, takes a big Yeah, that's what I mean.
- 1:01:55Speaker 1: Liked to admit when he's wrong.
- 1:02:00Speaker 4: I made me ognipotent, but I don't know everything.
- 1:02:05Speaker 1: He's got an IQ of two thousand and five.
- 1:02:08Speaker 7: Yeah, that's what I'm saying. He might be an a dad.
- 1:02:12Speaker 7: He wanted the best things.
- 1:02:13Speaker 4: Did I don't know about that?
- 1:02:18Speaker 7: He was a god who humbled himself.
- 1:02:22Speaker 4: All right, So so what you have to do sometimes
- 1:02:27Speaker 4: when it's tough, Yeah, you have to you have to
- 1:02:29Speaker 4: ask yourself a question like, Okay, if he's going to
- 1:02:32Speaker 4: go into a column that means Q is a better
- 1:02:35Speaker 4: dad than Miles O'Brien. Is that a true statement? And
- 1:02:39Speaker 4: if it's not, you can't put him in that column.
- 1:02:42Speaker 1: No, no, or Joseph Cisco no or trip no.
- 1:02:48Speaker 7: All right, all right, my b list he's a B
- 1:02:52Speaker 7: list dad, all right, Tuvac.
- 1:02:57Speaker 2: There is nothing that I can think of it would
- 1:03:00Speaker 2: not put him in the say a ish column. He
- 1:03:07Speaker 2: he talks a little bit about his relationship with his sons.
- 1:03:09Speaker 2: He was talking to Ensign Wildman about you know, he's
- 1:03:15Speaker 2: tried to comfort her because they.
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: Were about to die.
- 1:03:18Speaker 2: Yeah, and he comforts her by saying, you know, my
- 1:03:21Speaker 2: son and my daughter are in good hands because I
- 1:03:25Speaker 2: raised them, and I know for a fact that they're
- 1:03:28Speaker 2: going to be okay because they I instilled my morals
- 1:03:30Speaker 2: and my code and my ethics and they got a
- 1:03:32Speaker 2: good mom.
- 1:03:32Speaker 1: Blah blah blah blah. That is.
- 1:03:34Speaker 2: I think that's one of the hallmarks of good father.
- 1:03:36Speaker 2: And he was confident that. I don't see any reason
- 1:03:39Speaker 2: why he was not telling the truth, So, you know not,
- 1:03:44Speaker 2: I think this is I think on this list, I
- 1:03:47Speaker 2: think this is one time where we can't anthropomorphize it.
- 1:03:50Speaker 2: We have to sort of go by Vulcan standards because
- 1:03:53Speaker 2: that's just the way they are and the way they've
- 1:03:56Speaker 2: been portrayed.
- 1:03:57Speaker 1: And I think because of that, I think he goes
- 1:03:59Speaker 1: into a column.
- 1:04:01Speaker 7: Yeah, doesn't isn't he talking?
- 1:04:03Speaker 4: Is it?
- 1:04:03Speaker 7: Nelix weren't like Nelix wanted to have a boy and
- 1:04:06Speaker 7: was gonna have a girl, And Tubac was like, why
- 1:04:08Speaker 7: would my daughter have any difference of love or care
- 1:04:13Speaker 7: than than my son's or right?
- 1:04:15Speaker 1: Right?
- 1:04:16Speaker 2: So you I think he treated all of his kids fairly.
- 1:04:19Speaker 2: I think, you know, by all accounts. By all accounts,
- 1:04:25Speaker 2: he was a good dad. I think the only thing
- 1:04:26Speaker 2: that would detract about this is they're all in the military,
- 1:04:29Speaker 2: they're all in starf No. I think that deducts a
- 1:04:32Speaker 2: couple of points from a lot of them.
- 1:04:33Speaker 7: But no, but yeah, a list is fine for me.
- 1:04:39Speaker 1: Cisco talking about complicated single dad, single dad raised yep
- 1:04:48Speaker 1: from from the age of like he was like, how
- 1:04:50Speaker 1: old was Jake eleven? Twelve? Yeah, something like that when
- 1:04:55Speaker 1: they when they had to, you know, eject the escape pod.
- 1:05:00Speaker 11: Also he spaced Jesus yet so so one of my
- 1:05:06Speaker 11: one of his uh, one of his flaws is in
- 1:05:09Speaker 11: the final episode, he went away, right, yeah, And it
- 1:05:14Speaker 11: doesn't make sense him going away because if.
- 1:05:20Speaker 4: If the Wormhole aliens do not lead a linear existence
- 1:05:25Speaker 4: and time is meaningless, then he can go with them
- 1:05:30Speaker 4: forty years from now. He doesn't have to go with
- 1:05:32Speaker 4: them now, right, So he left his son, He left
- 1:05:36Speaker 4: his son behind, He left his sons behind in a
- 1:05:44Speaker 4: new baby that does that doesn't know his father. So
- 1:05:48Speaker 4: for for seven point nine five seasons or excuse me,
- 1:05:53Speaker 4: six point ninety five seasons of Star Trek Deep Space nine,
- 1:05:56Speaker 4: he was a great dad. Uh, screwed it up in
- 1:06:00Speaker 4: the end. Yeah, in my in my opinion, So I
- 1:06:03Speaker 4: think that's what keeps him out of the S column,
- 1:06:06Speaker 4: and I think keeps him out of the A column.
- 1:06:09Speaker 7: That's I will give the counter. When he's about to leave.
- 1:06:13Speaker 7: He even says I could be back yesterday. He didn't
- 1:06:16Speaker 7: know when he was going to come back.
- 1:06:18Speaker 1: There's nothing in Cannon saying how long he was gone.
- 1:06:21Speaker 7: Right, And he thought he could be back in a moment.
- 1:06:24Speaker 2: Right, So we don't know that he left them for
- 1:06:27Speaker 2: a long period of time.
- 1:06:31Speaker 1: Could be a year, it could be yesterday.
- 1:06:34Speaker 4: Yeah, I suppose.
- 1:06:36Speaker 1: I think that keeps him back in the A column
- 1:06:39Speaker 1: all right, because the.
- 1:06:40Speaker 2: Moments all out of all the Star Trek fathers, there
- 1:06:44Speaker 2: were more father son moments between him and Jake than
- 1:06:48Speaker 2: anything else in Trek. And honestly, the tenderness he showed Jake,
- 1:06:54Speaker 2: the the time he.
- 1:06:56Speaker 7: Spent with him, even even with the wormhole.
- 1:06:58Speaker 2: Anil baseball, and you know, trying, you know, just all
- 1:07:05Speaker 2: the dinners and yeah, you know, trying to let him
- 1:07:09Speaker 2: become his own man, and not going back for him
- 1:07:11Speaker 2: on on DA's nine when they abandoned the station, because
- 1:07:15Speaker 2: he's he's his own you know, trying to juggle him
- 1:07:17Speaker 2: being a man versus him being a son, and you know,
- 1:07:20Speaker 2: letting him find his own path.
- 1:07:21Speaker 1: There was a there was there was a fine line.
- 1:07:23Speaker 2: There was a tight rope there, and I think he
- 1:07:26Speaker 2: I think he walked that type rope with Grace chat.
- 1:07:29Speaker 7: What do you guys think Cisco s Tier eight tier?
- 1:07:32Speaker 6: What do you think? I I think.
- 1:07:36Speaker 2: He's whenever whenever I whenever I hug my sons. For
- 1:07:48Speaker 2: some reason, I always think about I think about Ben
- 1:07:52Speaker 2: hugging Jake, like, you know, especially now because in the
- 1:07:56Speaker 2: later seasons when Ben Cisco hugs Jake, he's so much right.
- 1:08:02Speaker 2: And I'm five eleven and a half and my son
- 1:08:05Speaker 2: is like six two sixty three. Yes, I'll grab his
- 1:08:09Speaker 2: head like like benzaes and I'll kiss him on the forehead.
- 1:08:13Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:08:15Speaker 2: So yeah, there's a special place in my heart for
- 1:08:18Speaker 2: the relationship that they have.
- 1:08:20Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:08:20Speaker 4: So, so what are you saying I'm saying.
- 1:08:23Speaker 1: I'm saying s here.
- 1:08:25Speaker 4: Oh man, you're gonna make me be the asshole that
- 1:08:28Speaker 4: keeps was not a good father. That's not what I'm saying.
- 1:08:34Speaker 7: I mean, even the Chad saying, jas.
- 1:08:37Speaker 4: Let me see, let me look at who else is
- 1:08:39Speaker 4: in s here?
- 1:08:41Speaker 7: Rom Yeah, okay?
- 1:08:44Speaker 4: And who's who's in the eight tier?
- 1:08:46Speaker 7: The car Jordy Riker and Benga Data Dubac, all right,
- 1:08:54Speaker 7: put him in the S. Yeah, that's what I thought,
- 1:08:59Speaker 7: That's what I whoa.
- 1:09:02Speaker 4: Right? All right?
- 1:09:04Speaker 7: Next, one of the greatest father.
- 1:09:08Speaker 4: I did nothing wrong. Everything did for the Pajoring people.
- 1:09:17Speaker 7: I was the greatest leader.
- 1:09:20Speaker 4: That's right.
- 1:09:22Speaker 7: God is the greatest dad.
- 1:09:24Speaker 4: Just ask him.
- 1:09:27Speaker 1: Put him in the no, do not put him in
- 1:09:30Speaker 1: the D column. Put in the column wait here?
- 1:09:35Speaker 7: Why?
- 1:09:37Speaker 1: Because he loved his daughter. It was obvious he loved
- 1:09:41Speaker 1: his daughter.
- 1:09:42Speaker 2: And he did one thing for his daughter that went
- 1:09:44Speaker 2: against everything he believed in. He let his daughter go
- 1:09:48Speaker 2: and live with Kira. What about his other kids? I
- 1:09:52Speaker 2: don't care about his other kids. All the only kids
- 1:09:54Speaker 2: I know about his.
- 1:09:55Speaker 4: Wow, if he cared about his other kids, he always
- 1:10:01Speaker 4: wouldn't have I'm just saying, well, he wouldn't have been
- 1:10:05Speaker 4: he wouldn't have been shagging but jarring women on the station.
- 1:10:11Speaker 1: He married.
- 1:10:12Speaker 4: He was a married man.
- 1:10:13Speaker 2: He was married, shitty husband. That makes them a shitty husband.
- 1:10:17Speaker 7: You guys ever played the Super Mario games? Yeah, yeah, okay,
- 1:10:21Speaker 7: in my head to Cott is like Koopa, and all
- 1:10:24Speaker 7: the other kids are like the kids, and he's constantly
- 1:10:27Speaker 7: putting them in danger. He just has his own dream.
- 1:10:32Speaker 2: Built an empire for his children. Okay, he gave each
- 1:10:35Speaker 2: one of his children a flying ship.
- 1:10:38Speaker 4: All right, So I'm gonna put this, I'm gonna put
- 1:10:40Speaker 4: this in perspective.
- 1:10:42Speaker 1: Yeah, gold Doucott.
- 1:10:43Speaker 4: Gold Doucott is Star Trek's version of Arnold Schwarzenegger. Arnold
- 1:10:49Speaker 4: schwartz has has four kids, and one of them is
- 1:10:53Speaker 4: with the maid. Yeah, and his previous kids, his original kid,
- 1:11:00Speaker 4: his proper kidszeggers. Yes, want nothing to do with their brother.
- 1:11:08Speaker 6: Right.
- 1:11:09Speaker 4: What a shitty what a shitty situation. But he created it, He.
- 1:11:13Speaker 2: Created created That doesn't make him a shitty dad, which
- 1:11:17Speaker 2: does it?
- 1:11:18Speaker 4: Sure does, Absolutely it does. He broke up his own family.
- 1:11:26Speaker 1: Yeah, I get that, I understand. I understand.
- 1:11:28Speaker 2: I still think Goldecott did. Don't get me wrong. I
- 1:11:31Speaker 2: hate Caldecott as much as everybody does.
- 1:11:34Speaker 4: But in the end, one of your jobs a father,
- 1:11:38Speaker 4: one of your jobs as a father is to give
- 1:11:40Speaker 4: your give your children the best possible situation going forward.
- 1:11:46Speaker 2: Which is exactly what Golducott did when he lets.
- 1:11:49Speaker 4: Live having a child out of wedlock with another woman
- 1:11:55Speaker 4: when you're still married. You know what, it's the opposite
- 1:11:59Speaker 4: of that.
- 1:12:00Speaker 7: Let's use the thing Dan said earlier, is Golden caught
- 1:12:04Speaker 7: a better father than.
- 1:12:06Speaker 1: The Kyle record?
- 1:12:07Speaker 7: Yes, than who the doctor from Voyager.
- 1:12:12Speaker 1: That we've misplaced the doctor from Voyager?
- 1:12:15Speaker 7: No, no, that's because this just feels right.
- 1:12:21Speaker 4: This.
- 1:12:21Speaker 2: Is there anybody in the chat that will back me
- 1:12:23Speaker 2: up on this?
- 1:12:25Speaker 1: Please?
- 1:12:26Speaker 7: They have not been springing forth earlier.
- 1:12:28Speaker 4: Can you do me a favor, Daniel? Can you do
- 1:12:32Speaker 4: I know he was never on Star Trek, but can
- 1:12:34Speaker 4: you find a thumbnail of Arnold Schwarzenegger and put these
- 1:12:38Speaker 4: two pieces of ship right next to each other in
- 1:12:40Speaker 4: the Yeah?
- 1:12:41Speaker 1: Yeah, I need my strong eared fans to come forth
- 1:12:46Speaker 1: and defend me.
- 1:12:47Speaker 4: They come and pal, Yeah they are not.
- 1:12:55Speaker 7: Yeah, alright, moving on all right? Next one, Rios.
- 1:13:03Speaker 1: Rios, when he was established that they got married.
- 1:13:06Speaker 7: Yeah, he was gonna be a stepdad.
- 1:13:08Speaker 4: Oh that's right, that's right. He polluted the timeline with
- 1:13:12Speaker 4: his lineage.
- 1:13:14Speaker 1: His seed.
- 1:13:15Speaker 4: Yeah, he polluted the timeline with his seed. Yeah. I
- 1:13:24Speaker 4: mean we did, we didn't, we didn't.
- 1:13:26Speaker 1: He was cool, he'd be a cool dad.
- 1:13:29Speaker 4: He got himself killed at a bar fight.
- 1:13:32Speaker 1: Yeah, defending.
- 1:13:34Speaker 2: I think he got himself killed in a bar fight,
- 1:13:36Speaker 2: like protecting something or protecting somebody.
- 1:13:38Speaker 7: Yeah, they kind of make an allusion to that, but
- 1:13:41Speaker 7: you know, yeah.
- 1:13:49Speaker 4: No, but I could probably count on one hand the
- 1:13:52Speaker 4: number of times I've been in a bar since I
- 1:13:53Speaker 4: had children.
- 1:13:54Speaker 1: Yeah, that's the same here.
- 1:13:58Speaker 7: I feel like he's a sea dad.
- 1:13:59Speaker 1: But you happen in a bar?
- 1:14:04Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:14:05Speaker 2: We have no idea if this was a frequent thing
- 1:14:07Speaker 2: for him, or maybe he just went to the bar to,
- 1:14:09Speaker 2: you handle something that needed to be handled. I don't
- 1:14:14Speaker 2: think he was just in a bar, got drunk and
- 1:14:16Speaker 2: then got in.
- 1:14:16Speaker 1: A bar fight. Maybe he had to go to that
- 1:14:19Speaker 1: bar to confront the problem. But we don't know.
- 1:14:22Speaker 2: So we know nothing about him. We know nothing about
- 1:14:24Speaker 2: the type of mom.
- 1:14:27Speaker 7: That's what I was after the kids, afterthought, so ce list.
- 1:14:30Speaker 1: He goes squarely in the B column.
- 1:14:34Speaker 6: Do you think?
- 1:14:34Speaker 5: So?
- 1:14:35Speaker 1: Yep? How long would yeah?
- 1:14:40Speaker 2: Oh and screw this next guy. I'm just gonna have
- 1:14:43Speaker 2: kids that one of them turns out right.
- 1:14:46Speaker 1: Yeah, doctor noonian soon, Yes.
- 1:14:50Speaker 4: Yeah, and I'm gonna have I'm gonna have a real kid.
- 1:14:53Speaker 4: But I'm not gonna tell anybody about him.
- 1:14:55Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:14:55Speaker 4: It shows up in uh season three of whatever season
- 1:14:59Speaker 4: I don't when he shut up. Yeah, no, he was in.
- 1:15:02Speaker 1: The first season. Yeah.
- 1:15:08Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:15:11Speaker 2: So he builds one an and he becomes before builds
- 1:15:17Speaker 2: a second android becomes lore Lare is a piece of crap.
- 1:15:21Speaker 2: So he's like, well, I'm just gonna build a third android.
- 1:15:24Speaker 7: Yeah, and uh no, you can program the.
- 1:15:29Speaker 2: I I I'm gonna because I mean not giving him
- 1:15:35Speaker 2: emotions when he gave the second child emotions.
- 1:15:38Speaker 1: That's a dick move man.
- 1:15:39Speaker 7: Yeah, so we can feel how it feels to be abandoned.
- 1:15:46Speaker 1: You know. And then he did call his he did recall.
- 1:15:50Speaker 2: Him to give him emotions. Which does that make him
- 1:15:53Speaker 2: a better father than the wharf?
- 1:15:59Speaker 4: Well, well, you know what, look at it this way.
- 1:16:02Speaker 4: On his deathbed, he was still he was still fighting
- 1:16:06Speaker 4: to to uh give his children the best life moving forward.
- 1:16:12Speaker 4: M hm. He knew he had days to live, and
- 1:16:14Speaker 4: he's like, no, I gotta I gotta make things better
- 1:16:17Speaker 4: for Data before I go.
- 1:16:19Speaker 2: Yeah, I think that's a good count as good fathering.
- 1:16:25Speaker 4: Well, he also told him. He also told him, Hey, hi,
- 1:16:28Speaker 4: hi Jacket, hijack your ship and come see me that's
- 1:16:31Speaker 4: not exactly the best.
- 1:16:34Speaker 1: The Road to Hell. Yeah, and argument could be made
- 1:16:36Speaker 1: for c r D. I mean I think I think, see, okay,
- 1:16:42Speaker 1: let's put him in the sea.
- 1:16:45Speaker 7: And then we're just giving up on you l so so.
- 1:16:47Speaker 4: So what we're saying is Nodian's song is a better
- 1:16:52Speaker 4: dad than Arnold Schwarzeneger. Got it. That's a big takeaway.
- 1:16:55Speaker 7: Okay, Yes, yeah, Arnold's in there. I got him in,
- 1:16:58Speaker 7: I got.
- 1:16:58Speaker 5: I got.
- 1:17:01Speaker 1: H you know, Nelix, I was gonna put him. I
- 1:17:07Speaker 1: don't know, I was going to put him in the
- 1:17:08Speaker 1: b colmn. We don't know that much. But he was
- 1:17:10Speaker 1: a surrogate father to Naomi.
- 1:17:12Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:17:13Speaker 2: I think he did an excellent job basically raising Naomi.
- 1:17:18Speaker 2: I think those characteristics to be transferred.
- 1:17:20Speaker 7: To Yeah, he also did date a two year old.
- 1:17:30Speaker 1: Again, you're I'm going to use that big word again, Daniel.
- 1:17:34Speaker 6: Yeah, I think.
- 1:17:35Speaker 2: You're anthropomorphizing because that two year old had the mental
- 1:17:39Speaker 2: capacity of a twenty year old. Although even that's a
- 1:17:44Speaker 2: little weird like.
- 1:17:46Speaker 7: That somethingth yeah on the internet.
- 1:17:48Speaker 2: Yeah, oh god, no, stop stop talking, stop.
- 1:17:55Speaker 6: Talk, stop talk.
- 1:17:57Speaker 7: I think you just made a list.
- 1:17:59Speaker 1: They they you made it.
- 1:18:02Speaker 4: You made a different list, Buddy.
- 1:18:04Speaker 2: The Delta Flyers, the the age difference between Jennifer Lane
- 1:18:08Speaker 2: and uh Ethan Phillips. It was a little bit weird.
- 1:18:13Speaker 4: Mm that's what No. I won't say, I say b
- 1:18:23Speaker 4: he was.
- 1:18:23Speaker 2: I think he was a good father. We just don't
- 1:18:26Speaker 2: know a whole lot.
- 1:18:28Speaker 7: Dan, what do you what are you thinking?
- 1:18:30Speaker 1: Look at his relationship with Naomi.
- 1:18:32Speaker 4: I'm thinking, see so.
- 1:18:35Speaker 2: All the things that he did for Naomi and for
- 1:18:38Speaker 2: Anson Wilman, Like, you're not gonna give me any credit
- 1:18:40Speaker 2: for that?
- 1:18:41Speaker 7: Man, It's true, it's not his kid.
- 1:18:45Speaker 1: Godfather. He was Naomi's godfather fathers in that word.
- 1:18:51Speaker 7: Did he not help with the board kids too?
- 1:18:53Speaker 1: Oh yeah, yep, yeah, absolutely yeah. I mean would you
- 1:19:01Speaker 1: be okay with him being your like godfather? I would be.
- 1:19:08Speaker 4: I look at this list, Yeah, And I just I
- 1:19:11Speaker 4: just can't imagine. I'm having fun imagining these characters looking
- 1:19:15Speaker 4: at this list. I'm imagining the Doctor looking at this
- 1:19:17Speaker 4: list and seeing Nelix's two rungs above him.
- 1:19:21Speaker 1: Yeah, the Doctor and Dakatt would be pissed. Wharf would
- 1:19:25Speaker 1: be like, this is an honorable list. I belong.
- 1:19:33Speaker 4: You know, it's funny you look you look at the list, right,
- 1:19:36Speaker 4: Wharf's at the bottom. His own father is at the top. Yeah, Cisco,
- 1:19:41Speaker 4: Cisco is at the top, his own fathers is. Well,
- 1:19:45Speaker 4: he's two rungs down. But it's just funny how being
- 1:19:51Speaker 4: a good father doesn't make your children a good father
- 1:19:53Speaker 4: and vice versaces pissed that.
- 1:19:56Speaker 1: Ram is so much above him, oh very much? So, yes,
- 1:20:02Speaker 1: bring that is true. Yeah, but I feel like it's
- 1:20:08Speaker 1: emotional to make you feel bad about putting in in
- 1:20:11Speaker 1: the Yeah.
- 1:20:13Speaker 4: No, I'm happy with this list. Yeah, I think this
- 1:20:16Speaker 4: is uh. I think it's a valid list.
- 1:20:19Speaker 6: Yeah, I'm good with it.
- 1:20:21Speaker 1: I think should go one rung up. But other than that, all.
- 1:20:25Speaker 4: Right, then then you gotta put on old Swartzenegger with him,
- 1:20:29Speaker 4: which I know you don't want to do so.
- 1:20:30Speaker 1: No, I don't want to do.
- 1:20:34Speaker 4: So.
- 1:20:34Speaker 7: For those of you listening, do you want to go
- 1:20:38Speaker 7: through the through the categories real quick?
- 1:20:40Speaker 6: So much?
- 1:20:41Speaker 2: Remember we got S through D it's S which is superior,
- 1:20:44Speaker 2: and then a B C D.
- 1:20:47Speaker 4: Yeah, so do you want to For the people who
- 1:20:50Speaker 4: are listening audio only.
- 1:20:52Speaker 6: You want to?
- 1:20:53Speaker 7: You want to read them all? Red D list, We
- 1:20:56Speaker 7: got war, we got the doctor from Voyager. We have
- 1:21:00Speaker 7: was a named Cryol yeah, Goldicott and Arnold Swartzenegger.
- 1:21:07Speaker 1: Yes, a terrible fathers those are the worst.
- 1:21:13Speaker 7: For the worst uh CE list, we have Magnus Hanson
- 1:21:19Speaker 7: UH seven to nine's dad, Sarah Kirk Nonian Sung Data's dad,
- 1:21:26Speaker 7: and Admiral Paris Tom's dad. So our middle of the
- 1:21:32Speaker 7: road dad's b list just average decent dads. We got Miles,
- 1:21:38Speaker 7: we got Jack Crusher older Jack Crusher, not Picard's son,
- 1:21:43Speaker 7: Jack Crusher, uh Booker from Discovery, uh Zulu Restaurant Cisco,
- 1:21:51Speaker 7: Old Cisco, Grandpa Cisco, trip quh Tom, Harry Rios, and Neelix.
- 1:22:02Speaker 7: Our a list are you know great? You know good dads?
- 1:22:06Speaker 7: Not great, but good. We've got Picard, Jordie Riker, doctor
- 1:22:11Speaker 7: Vega from Strange New Worlds, uh Data, and Tuvak from Voyager.
- 1:22:18Speaker 1: And then our we have four next dads in column.
- 1:22:22Speaker 7: Yeah yeah, And then our s lists are top tier,
- 1:22:27Speaker 7: the Kreme de la Creme of fatherhood. We've got rom
- 1:22:31Speaker 7: We've got Sergey Rushenko, Wharf Dad and Papa Cisco the original.
- 1:22:39Speaker 4: So just just two more things I would like us
- 1:22:41Speaker 4: to do. Yeah, for just the S column and the
- 1:22:45Speaker 4: and the D column. Yeah, I would like to figure
- 1:22:48Speaker 4: out who is the grand champion of dads for Star
- 1:22:52Speaker 4: Trek and put that person in the first first slot
- 1:22:55Speaker 4: of the s column and at the same time biggest
- 1:22:59Speaker 4: biggest piece of ship deadbeat dad in the in the
- 1:23:02Speaker 4: universe and put them uh to the right of Arnold
- 1:23:05Speaker 4: Schwarzenegger in that column. So commen commence commence arguing.
- 1:23:12Speaker 7: Yeah, yeah, yeah, if you're gonna go as your top
- 1:23:14Speaker 7: of the top of Schier, it comes down to Rom
- 1:23:18Speaker 7: and and yeah, yeah, yeah, I think which I would.
- 1:23:26Speaker 4: Really see I was gonna say.
- 1:23:28Speaker 1: I'll tell you.
- 1:23:30Speaker 7: Why I say Rum. I'll give this Rom not only
- 1:23:36Speaker 7: was Super allowed his kid to do whatever he wanted
- 1:23:40Speaker 7: to do when his own kid admitted, I don't want
- 1:23:42Speaker 7: to be my father, I want to go into Starfleet
- 1:23:46Speaker 7: and he and he was cool with that, and he
- 1:23:49Speaker 7: let his kid go into Starfleet. And then later when
- 1:23:51Speaker 7: he became the Grand Nagas he went and implemented all
- 1:23:54Speaker 7: sorts of societal changes to make things better for their
- 1:23:58Speaker 7: for their world.
- 1:23:59Speaker 1: Yeah, I think that's a good argument. I think you've
- 1:24:02Speaker 1: changed my mind. I think I'm gonna so.
- 1:24:05Speaker 4: You think he's not only Rom's dad, but he's the
- 1:24:07Speaker 4: father of That's right, he's the father. He's the founding
- 1:24:11Speaker 4: father of modern Yeah, he's he's it's him, all right,
- 1:24:16Speaker 4: So so leave him right there, go down to the bottom,
- 1:24:19Speaker 4: pull Richard two slots of the right because he's the
- 1:24:22Speaker 4: biggest piece of it in the universe, and then we'll
- 1:24:24Speaker 4: go we'll go to use your feedback.
- 1:24:27Speaker 7: That's perfect, that's perfct. Let's go to use your feedback.
- 1:24:31Speaker 1: AI.
- 1:24:32Speaker 7: Yeah, except for the chat.
- 1:24:37Speaker 5: Listener feedback.
- 1:24:41Speaker 4: All right.
- 1:24:43Speaker 7: I don't know if anyone's exing up in the chat
- 1:24:46Speaker 7: to join us. We're already like running super right, Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 1:24:52Speaker 7: So does chas Biz wanna want to Yeah, he's already
- 1:24:57Speaker 7: chime chime in.
- 1:24:57Speaker 4: And tell us what a piece of ship Richard is.
- 1:25:03Speaker 7: I got a really long email from duvaul. I will
- 1:25:05Speaker 7: read it next week because it is so long, and
- 1:25:07Speaker 7: we're already rinning so bine, so we'll get jas Biz.
- 1:25:10Speaker 7: You're already xed up, so he's gonna be coming on.
- 1:25:14Speaker 6: In a second.
- 1:25:15Speaker 7: But I like the list. I think it was fun.
- 1:25:21Speaker 7: Oh there he is, all right, there's jas Biz. Hey, Hey,
- 1:25:26Speaker 7: what do you think of the list?
- 1:25:27Speaker 5: I liked it?
- 1:25:28Speaker 6: Did you?
- 1:25:29Speaker 1: Guys?
- 1:25:30Speaker 5: And Kirkstad from the movies.
- 1:25:35Speaker 1: Oh, George Kirk giving the alto sacrifice to save god
- 1:25:45Speaker 1: born son.
- 1:25:47Speaker 4: How did we forget for Yeah, Jesus, we got to
- 1:25:51Speaker 4: do the whole thing over.
- 1:25:56Speaker 1: A category.
- 1:25:58Speaker 4: Yeah, he's he's in the air, he's a yeah, he's
- 1:26:01Speaker 4: a yeah.
- 1:26:01Speaker 1: Sacrifice himself, sacrificed himself to a s Right, this is
- 1:26:09Speaker 1: the top one.
- 1:26:10Speaker 5: Unborn child save everybody on this ship.
- 1:26:12Speaker 1: He could unhesitantly.
- 1:26:14Speaker 4: Yeah, you think es here for that?
- 1:26:19Speaker 1: I mean he gave his life, you know, Yeah, I think,
- 1:26:22Speaker 1: I think I think a Okay, okay, okay, we don't
- 1:26:27Speaker 1: know a whole lot about it.
- 1:26:31Speaker 5: He was going to be an admiral.
- 1:26:33Speaker 2: Well, yeah, there's there's the JJ universe George Kirk, and
- 1:26:39Speaker 2: then there's the regular George Kirk. Because George Kirk lived
- 1:26:41Speaker 2: long enough to see him graduate Starfleet Academy, right, and
- 1:26:47Speaker 2: by all accounts he was like one of the you know,
- 1:26:50Speaker 2: inspirations for him to join Starfleet.
- 1:26:52Speaker 1: So he must have been a good day.
- 1:26:55Speaker 7: We can put him as here. I'll give you that,
- 1:26:58Speaker 7: but it doesn't change rum standing.
- 1:27:01Speaker 5: Still is still the best.
- 1:27:05Speaker 6: Yeah, all right, we'll do that.
- 1:27:08Speaker 5: The best like redemption story, because he was a piece
- 1:27:10Speaker 5: of crap at the beginning and now he's grand Negas.
- 1:27:14Speaker 6: So yeah, yeah, all right, there you go.
- 1:27:18Speaker 4: Chas Bists. Take take a minute and tell us how
- 1:27:22Speaker 4: much you hate Richard.
- 1:27:25Speaker 5: I think a lazy, very slight on the humanity, just
- 1:27:33Speaker 5: a lead.
- 1:27:33Speaker 4: Perfect perfect, that just sucks.
- 1:27:38Speaker 1: Can you tell us about your father, the bad guy
- 1:27:41Speaker 1: from over the Top chasmist.
- 1:27:44Speaker 6: Over the Top.
- 1:27:47Speaker 5: Well, he's not driving the truck right now, and he's.
- 1:27:49Speaker 4: I was just gonna say, I hope you I hope
- 1:27:51Speaker 4: your truck's not idling.
- 1:27:55Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:27:58Speaker 8: Uh so that was a list, it was. That was
- 1:28:03Speaker 8: a long episode, guys, But sorry about that. The rant
- 1:28:09Speaker 8: on as stat's always my favorite.
- 1:28:12Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, you might have to put a warning. I
- 1:28:17Speaker 1: think we used the word the S word quite a bit.
- 1:28:22Speaker 5: Well, it's like the Lower Decks episode where they go
- 1:28:27Speaker 5: to the planet and they give up money and everything.
- 1:28:30Speaker 5: Oh yeah, yeah yeah, oh right, right, everybody gets up
- 1:28:33Speaker 5: their wealth and you know, just kind of pandemonium. Right, yeah,
- 1:28:38Speaker 5: that's exactly what would happen here, be just pure pandemonium.
- 1:28:42Speaker 5: It takes years before people would settle. Then you'd be
- 1:28:46Speaker 5: in breadlines. So yeah, everybody likes the breadline, so.
- 1:28:57Speaker 6: Who doesn't.
- 1:29:00Speaker 1: Oh, I smell bacon.
- 1:29:01Speaker 5: Yeah, all right, So what do you guys do for
- 1:29:05Speaker 5: Father's Day?
- 1:29:07Speaker 1: Hopefully eating some bacon, eating bacon.
- 1:29:09Speaker 4: Yeah, that's pretty much my.
- 1:29:11Speaker 1: Little boat out yesterday, cleaning it up. So I'm gonna
- 1:29:14Speaker 1: go get some fuel and start it up and maybe
- 1:29:16Speaker 1: take it out on the lake Austin.
- 1:29:20Speaker 4: Yeah, not sure. I was homesick all day yesterday and
- 1:29:24Speaker 4: I'm still a little under the weather, so I don't
- 1:29:27Speaker 4: know if I'm gonna be venturing out. I play it
- 1:29:29Speaker 4: close to home today.
- 1:29:31Speaker 2: Well, you probably got a communical disease when you punch
- 1:29:33Speaker 2: that guy in the face.
- 1:29:36Speaker 5: Gotta put him in the body bag. So he was like,
- 1:29:39Speaker 5: you know, they start cheating. Karate here, karate here, no
- 1:29:44Speaker 5: karate here.
- 1:29:48Speaker 7: Well, for me, yesterday was my oldest nephew's birthday. Tomorrow
- 1:29:52Speaker 7: is my niece's birthday, his sister. It's Father's Day today,
- 1:29:56Speaker 7: so we're all getting together to celebrate everybody. Yeah yeah, yeah.
- 1:30:03Speaker 1: Next time you do a tournament, Dan, I will be
- 1:30:05Speaker 1: your cut each, my chut each. All right, So I
- 1:30:11Speaker 1: d bandage.
- 1:30:12Speaker 5: How far did you make in the five Burroughs this year?
- 1:30:14Speaker 4: Five Burroughs? I did. I didn't even make it.
- 1:30:18Speaker 12: I didn't.
- 1:30:20Speaker 5: I did.
- 1:30:22Speaker 4: I did it was I went to stay with my son.
- 1:30:27Speaker 4: It was a fun movie. It's kind of silly, but yeah,
- 1:30:30Speaker 4: you know.
- 1:30:32Speaker 5: That kid's got some skills.
- 1:30:34Speaker 6: Oh yeah, yeah, he's good.
- 1:30:36Speaker 5: That kid was like, he can do some awesome stunts.
- 1:30:40Speaker 7: He's gonna make a great Robin in the DC in
- 1:30:42Speaker 7: a few years.
- 1:30:43Speaker 5: Man, if I say that kid could have been a
- 1:30:45Speaker 5: good shank Chi or something, you know, like he's freaking awesome.
- 1:30:50Speaker 2: Can you answer one quick question, Dan, without spoiling the movie?
- 1:30:54Speaker 2: Do they acknowledge the Cobra Kai universe at all?

- 1:31:00Speaker 1: Yes, okay, mm hmm, all right.
- 1:31:04Speaker 7: I saw the scene on on TikTok whether I wanted
- 1:31:08Speaker 7: or not, and showed.
- 1:31:08Speaker 5: Upday somebody spoiled it for you.
- 1:31:13Speaker 6: Yeah, it's fine.
- 1:31:15Speaker 4: Yeah, all the more, all the more reason I got

- 1:31:40Speaker 1: And yeah, that'll be that, and I'll be right behind you.
- 1:31:43Speaker 4: As you each.
- 1:31:45Speaker 1: Date on that maybe the eleven. Well, he's gonna go
- 1:31:48Speaker 1: see on the twelfth, but it comes out on the

- 1:31:52Speaker 7: I'm seeing it on the eighth.
- 1:31:55Speaker 4: Nice and honestly, if it comes out on Thursday, I
- 1:31:59Speaker 4: might sneak out and see it and not tell my
- 1:32:01Speaker 4: son and just see.
- 1:32:02Speaker 1: It right with him that I've already been in the
- 1:32:05Speaker 1: following weekend, Yeah, at Keeper Theater. So I'm gonna go
- 1:32:08Speaker 1: see an imax. I know.
- 1:32:10Speaker 5: I'm looking at that my wife's schedule and I'm like,
- 1:32:13Speaker 5: dang it, she works the whole weekend, so I'm not
- 1:32:16Speaker 5: to seeing the following Monday. Yeah, so not to go
- 1:32:19Speaker 5: internet silent, and that's gonna be.

- 1:32:38Speaker 5: Got second traffic.
- 1:32:39Speaker 1: Man, It's like, Daniel, I think we're gonna have to
- 1:32:42Speaker 1: devote a show to it.
- 1:32:44Speaker 7: I think so too.
- 1:32:45Speaker 6: Yeah, Yeah, I think you.
- 1:32:46Speaker 5: Guys thought to devote showed to that and fantastic. I mean,
- 1:32:50Speaker 5: this is a big month next month.
- 1:32:52Speaker 7: Well, the problem with that is strange in the world.
- 1:32:56Speaker 5: Right, twenty thirty minutes after you.
- 1:32:59Speaker 2: Know, if you don't know, Yeah, we did twenty thirty
- 1:33:01Speaker 2: minutes on gold Cat today, So that's true.
- 1:33:04Speaker 4: That's true only only because we had to set somebody straight.
- 1:33:09Speaker 7: Right, that's right.
- 1:33:11Speaker 5: Well, Tod like, come on the guys, he's like a rapist,
- 1:33:16Speaker 5: you know.
- 1:33:17Speaker 2: Horrible person, like hole person, but just a sort of
- 1:33:22Speaker 2: a kind of bad dad.
- 1:33:24Speaker 7: Yeah you think, all right, Well we should wrap up
- 1:33:31Speaker 7: because we've gone so long.

- 1:34:10Speaker 2: in twenty eleven. So yeah, he's in a celestial tuple,
- 1:34:17Speaker 2: that's right.
- 1:34:18Speaker 1: What's he's a warble alien?
