- 0:00Speaker 1: You just heard the news. Now you'll find out what
- 0:03Speaker 1: it all means. Smart simone on seven tenor.
- 0:14Speaker 2: Oh I'm here, I made it. I'm only a couple
- 0:18Speaker 2: of blocks away from It's easy to get well, I
- 0:19Speaker 2: wouldn't say it was easy to get here. Even walking
- 0:22Speaker 2: just a block or two is not easy. It is
- 0:25Speaker 2: a mess outside. It is also eerie and gloomy outside.
- 0:29Speaker 2: It's pandemic like in that. If you do walk outside,
- 0:33Speaker 2: there's no traffic. I mean there's a car here and there,
- 0:38Speaker 2: and there are no pedestrians either. That's the eerie part.
- 0:42Speaker 2: You might look way down. This is the middle of Manhattan.
- 0:45Speaker 2: You may look at a block or two down and
- 0:47Speaker 2: see one person walking into It's just like the pandemic.
- 0:50Speaker 2: It's very very quiet out there. The snow is messy.
- 0:54Speaker 2: It's wet snow. It's not the dry snow that now.
- 0:56Speaker 2: The wet snow is worse, harder to shovel, it's heavier,
- 0:59Speaker 2: and when it's the tree branches or power poles, it
- 1:03Speaker 2: can get so heavy it can actually cause them to
- 1:07Speaker 2: break snap. That'shere. Get these power outages. It's a power outage. Wise,
- 1:12Speaker 2: you got six hundred and forty thousand people without power.
- 1:16Speaker 2: That's up and down the East coast, all the way
- 1:18Speaker 2: down to Virginia. Now Here in this area New York State,
- 1:23Speaker 2: including New York City, Nassau, Suffolk seventeen thousand people without power.
- 1:28Speaker 2: And that's mostly Nasau, Suffolk Queens, mostly Long Island, almost
- 1:33Speaker 2: all of it is. Long Island seventeen thousand without power.
- 1:36Speaker 2: Connecticut thirteen thousand without power. New Jersey. Listen to this number.
- 1:42Speaker 2: One hundred and thirty seven thousand without power, one hundred
- 1:46Speaker 2: and thirty seven thousand without power. The wind, the heavy snow,
- 1:50Speaker 2: the wet snow, you got the roads closed. In Manhattan,
- 1:55Speaker 2: roads are officially closed except for emergency travel. That's until
- 1:59Speaker 2: noon today. Out Long Island. I think I'm not sure.
- 2:02Speaker 2: I think NASA is eleven. They're talking about moving at
- 2:06Speaker 2: to one o'clock. The snow is lessening right now. It's
- 2:10Speaker 2: still snowing, but it's much much lighter snow. And that
- 2:13Speaker 2: light snow will continue till about five or six o'clock today.
- 2:17Speaker 2: Should be all over by five thirty six o'clock that'll
- 2:19Speaker 2: be the end of it. But when it's over, it's
- 2:22Speaker 2: gonna be a lot of snow. We got fifteen inches
- 2:25Speaker 2: in New York City fifteen inches. You got eighteen inches
- 2:30Speaker 2: in suburbs. New Jersey got about eighteen inches some parts.
- 2:34Speaker 2: It depends where you are in New Jersey. South shore
- 2:37Speaker 2: of Long Island got the worst, Icelip reporting two feet
- 2:40Speaker 2: of snow. The Hampton's eighteen inches of snow. This was
- 2:45Speaker 2: unusual in that usually when you're along the coast you
- 2:48Speaker 2: get off easier. The more you go inland, the worse
- 2:51Speaker 2: the snow. This was different. This was a storm that
- 2:53Speaker 2: hugged the shoreline, so the closer word to the shore,
- 2:57Speaker 2: the worse it was snow wise, that's unusual. Flights are
- 3:01Speaker 2: canceled everywhere. There are no flights in or out of
- 3:04Speaker 2: any of our airports, and they've been canceled for so
- 3:07Speaker 2: many hours and it's going to be a day or
- 3:10Speaker 2: two so it may not get back to normal till
- 3:12Speaker 2: Wednesday or Thursday. So that's going to be a mess
- 3:16Speaker 2: if you gotta fly anywhere. Trains, well, you got Metro
- 3:20Speaker 2: North is Metro North is pretty good. They're actually running.
- 3:23Speaker 2: I mean there's some delays and not all the trains,
- 3:25Speaker 2: but Metro North seems to be operating okay. Ther Long
- 3:30Speaker 2: Island Railroad of course a total mess. It's mostly shut down,
- 3:33Speaker 2: believe or not. The New York City subways are running.
- 3:35Speaker 2: They're open. Couple of lines are suspended, but plenty of
- 3:40Speaker 2: subways are running with delays and some low express are
- 3:44Speaker 2: now local that kind of stuff, but they're but they're running.
- 3:46Speaker 2: Bridges are closed. Those bridges should reopen later today. The
- 3:51Speaker 2: bridges are closed not because of the snow. You can
- 3:52Speaker 2: plow the snow, but the bridges are closed because of
- 3:56Speaker 2: the winds. Forty to fifty sixty mile an hour winds.
- 3:59Speaker 2: You got to close the bridges. But that wind is
- 4:01Speaker 2: dying down. It should be pretty much the wind should
- 4:03Speaker 2: be pretty much over by tonight. National Guard has been
- 4:07Speaker 2: called out. You got part of the problem is you're
- 4:11Speaker 2: trying to get through this snowstorm with this kind of leadership.
- 4:14Speaker 2: You got Mamdani, you got HOCl you got Mikey Cheryl.
- 4:18Speaker 2: The schools are closed, and for the first time in
- 4:21Speaker 2: I think seven years, they're really closed. It's none of
- 4:24Speaker 2: that remote learning, which is a terrible day for parents
- 4:28Speaker 2: because they love when the kids go to school for
- 4:30Speaker 2: all those hours. Now you're stuck at home with the kids.
- 4:33Speaker 2: If you've got the remote learning at least it keeps
- 4:35Speaker 2: them a little busy, but no remote learning. It's a
- 4:37Speaker 2: real snow day, an actual old fashioned schools closed snow day.
- 4:41Speaker 2: Here's Mayor mom, Donnie.
- 4:42Speaker 3: This will be New York City's first old school snow
- 4:45Speaker 3: day since twenty nineteen. The state requires us to conduct
- 4:49Speaker 3: one hundred and eighty days of education in a calendar year. However,
- 4:53Speaker 3: we believe that there are a unique set of extenuating
- 4:55Speaker 3: circumstances for tomorrow's education. We shared this with the State
- 5:00Speaker 3: Education Commissioner earlier this morning, and she has granted us
- 5:03Speaker 3: a waiver for which we are incredibly thankful. And to
- 5:06Speaker 3: kids across New York City, you have a very serious mission.
- 5:09Speaker 3: If you choose to accept it, stay cozy.
- 5:14Speaker 2: So you know, if you live in the suburbs, if
- 5:18Speaker 2: you really know what you're doing, you got one of
- 5:20Speaker 2: those snow shoveling services. It's usually also the landscaping serve,
- 5:24Speaker 2: but they come out every time it's snow boom, they
- 5:25Speaker 2: come out. Eighteen guys get out of the truck shovling. Now,
- 5:28Speaker 2: if you don't know what you do, and you hire
- 5:29Speaker 2: a neighborhood kid, although that's tough now, I used to
- 5:33Speaker 2: be able to hire the neighborhood. Yeah, twenty dollars to
- 5:35Speaker 2: shovel might drive. Now it's like two hundred and they
- 5:37Speaker 2: don't want to do it. But believe it or not,
- 5:39Speaker 2: New York City sort of operates this way. The sanitation
- 5:42Speaker 2: department cleans the snow, but they hire snow shovelers. I
- 5:46Speaker 2: don't know why the hell they do this, and they
- 5:50Speaker 2: do it for each storm. They put like ads everywhere
- 5:52Speaker 2: where we need snow shovelers. It's nineteen dollars an hour,
- 5:56Speaker 2: and they need about four thousand of these freelance amateur snowshovels.
- 6:01Speaker 2: Four thousand. Well, they only got fourteen hundred this time.
- 6:04Speaker 2: I think part of the problem is nineteen dollars an
- 6:06Speaker 2: hour doesn't attract a lot of people nowadays in the
- 6:10Speaker 2: middle of a snowstorm, and the mayor getting a lot
- 6:15Speaker 2: of flak because he's requiring two types of ID, two
- 6:19Speaker 2: photo IDs, a birth certificate. Of course, when you want
- 6:22Speaker 2: to vote there, do they think photo ID is racist?
- 6:26Speaker 2: It's suppressing the vote, it's racist. But they're doing it
- 6:29Speaker 2: for snow shoveling. And of course he got all kinds
- 6:33Speaker 2: of flak all over the place for it and ridiculed
- 6:35Speaker 2: for it. Now the difference is with the snowshoveling, they
- 6:39Speaker 2: have to issue you a paycheck. You're actually put on
- 6:43Speaker 2: the payroll, and that's a federal requirement to pay somebody
- 6:47Speaker 2: tax purposes, all that stuff. You have to have all
- 6:49Speaker 2: that id But Mom Donnie not able to attract a
- 6:53Speaker 2: normal amount of snowsholls.
- 6:54Speaker 3: So the starting pay for emergency snowshovelers is about nineteen
- 6:57Speaker 3: dollars an hour. After they work four hours through a week,
- 7:01Speaker 3: that then increases to about twenty eight dollars an hour.
- 7:04Speaker 3: And thanks to the work of DS and Y and
- 7:07Speaker 3: so many others, we have expanded the pool of emergency
- 7:10Speaker 3: snow shovelers. In the previous storm, we were looking at
- 7:13Speaker 3: about five hundred emergency snow shovelers. Now that pool has
- 7:16Speaker 3: expanded to about fourteen hundred.
- 7:18Speaker 2: You got to admit, the guy really sounds like he
- 7:20Speaker 2: knows what he's doing. But when he talks, he gets
- 7:22Speaker 2: us nineteen dollars an hour and then to move to
- 7:23Speaker 2: twenty eight dollars. And we've explained the program about he
- 7:26Speaker 2: really sounds like he knows what he's doing. I mean,
- 7:30Speaker 2: if he has to actually do it. He didn't know
- 7:31Speaker 2: what the ally's doing. But boy, when it comes to talking,
- 7:33Speaker 2: this guy sounds like he knows what he's doing. If
- 7:36Speaker 2: you wanted to actually do it, well that's a whole
- 7:38Speaker 2: other story. It's not going to get done. Then you
- 7:40Speaker 2: got this governor New Jersey, Mikey Cheryl with that that
- 7:44Speaker 2: she never doesn't sound like a governor.
- 7:46Speaker 4: We need to be prepared, We need to be safe,
- 7:48Speaker 4: get water, get all of your charging done with your devices,
- 7:53Speaker 4: stay off the roads.
- 7:54Speaker 2: Okay, that one loves better. Sometimes she gets a little,
- 7:58Speaker 2: but we should talk. Look who we got for a governor.
- 8:02Speaker 4: We are asking you to just stay home. Stay home.
- 8:05Speaker 4: There is a nice diversion called the Olympics going on.
- 8:08Speaker 4: There's an important hockey game, the US versus ken I
- 8:11Speaker 4: believe around eight am. So stay home.
- 8:15Speaker 2: That's a diversion at Olympics. Would they pay like two
- 8:17Speaker 2: billion for the rights? It's a diversion. Isn't the Olympics over?
- 8:21Speaker 2: Is it still on? I don't know. I don't want
- 8:23Speaker 2: see Olympics, but I know the hockey was the big thing.
- 8:26Speaker 2: But I guess it's still on. But Hochel, it's a
- 8:28Speaker 2: great chance to you look like a governor, you get
- 8:31Speaker 2: to put on that bomber jacket.
- 8:32Speaker 4: And this forecast had shifted dramatically, and once again New
- 8:36Speaker 4: York State is in the crosshairs of a very dangerous,
- 8:39Speaker 4: fast moving, potentially life threatening winter storm.
- 8:44Speaker 2: Yeah, let me explain something because if you were listening
- 8:46Speaker 2: to me Friday, and I said that the storm is
- 8:48Speaker 2: going to be about one to three inches, and all them,
- 8:51Speaker 2: the good Weather Service. There's a lot of junk weather
- 8:53Speaker 2: services out there aren't very accurate, but the really good
- 8:56Speaker 2: ones ACI Weather, Weather Channel, they're pretty good, I mean
- 9:00Speaker 2: really accurate. It was one to three inches and then
- 9:05Speaker 2: and some people think, well the weather they like to
- 9:07Speaker 2: hype it up. They're always wrong. They're not really wrong.
- 9:09Speaker 2: You can't find a case of them being wrong or
- 9:11Speaker 2: hyping it up. What happens is a storm changes course.
- 9:16Speaker 2: It could go this way, it could go that way,
- 9:18Speaker 2: even up to a day before. It can change course,
- 9:20Speaker 2: or it can slow down or speed up come at
- 9:22Speaker 2: a different time, but it's mostly changing course. On Friday,
- 9:26Speaker 2: the course was that it would go way offshore and
- 9:28Speaker 2: miss us we'd get a little bit of it on
- 9:31Speaker 2: the fringe, but it changed course and was heading right
- 9:34Speaker 2: for US. So the problem is people check the weather
- 9:37Speaker 2: on Friday and then don't check it again. So when
- 9:40Speaker 2: it says one inch on Friday and you get eighteen,
- 9:43Speaker 2: they think the weather was wrong. Had you been checking
- 9:45Speaker 2: it all the time. As of like twenty hours before
- 9:50Speaker 2: the storm, they had it up to ten inches, twelve inches,
- 9:52Speaker 2: and then it got twelve to eighteen. So the weather
- 9:55Speaker 2: gets it right. You just have to keep checking it.
- 9:57Speaker 2: It's like a stock price. You can't look at it Friday,
- 10:00Speaker 2: that's the price today. So the State of the Union
- 10:03Speaker 2: speech is tomorrow night. That's going to be a big,
- 10:06Speaker 2: big thing Democrats. It's a big chance for them to
- 10:10Speaker 2: look ridiculous and childish and pout and throw their temper tantrums.
- 10:15Speaker 2: Member Nancy Pelosi ripping up the President's speech one of
- 10:18Speaker 2: the most disgusting, tacky, juvenile, tantrum, child ridiculous things. So
- 10:24Speaker 2: this year they're going to have a separate state. They're
- 10:26Speaker 2: going to have their own State of the Union out
- 10:29Speaker 2: in the park the National Mall. It's going to look ridiculous.
- 10:32Speaker 2: Chuck Schumer, a lot of Democrats will be at that
- 10:37Speaker 2: alternate stadium. Chuck Schumer will go to the real one.
- 10:40Speaker 5: He says, as of now, because I respect the whole institution,
- 10:46Speaker 5: but I don't respect Donald Trump one bit, I will go.
- 10:52Speaker 5: But the bottom line is there are a lot of
- 10:54Speaker 5: my colleagues who aren't going to go, and I tell
- 10:56Speaker 5: him that's I think that's fine with me. Everyone should
- 10:59Speaker 5: make his own choice.
- 11:00Speaker 2: If you hooked a light detector up to him, or
- 11:02Speaker 2: you injected him with truth theorem, he would be saying
- 11:05Speaker 2: to you, I don't like the President, but I am
- 11:08Speaker 2: gonna go. I think it's very important for me to
- 11:10Speaker 2: go because it's tons of TV cameras and because of
- 11:15Speaker 2: my feud with the President, they'll keep putting the camera
- 11:17Speaker 2: on me and I'll get a lot of FaceTime on camera,
- 11:20Speaker 2: and that's the reason I'm going. If you said the
- 11:24Speaker 2: check showre that is gonna be a first stay of
- 11:26Speaker 2: the Union, not televised, there'll be no cameras. He wouldn't
- 11:28Speaker 2: even be there. He's just there for the cameras. He's
- 11:30Speaker 2: got his new glasses, clean, the lenses and everything. He's
- 11:35Speaker 2: got one of those cheap suits that he'll wear, and
- 11:37Speaker 2: that's the only reason going to be on TV. Same
- 11:39Speaker 2: thing with Hakeem Jefferies. He knows being such an opponent,
- 11:43Speaker 2: they'll keep putting him on camera, and that's the only
- 11:46Speaker 2: reason he's going stay of the Union. The President will
- 11:49Speaker 2: talk about tariffs, all that stuff, and you know, we'll
- 11:57Speaker 2: get to this coming up. The tariff ruling the Supreme
- 12:00Speaker 2: Court was a real chance for fake news to go
- 12:04Speaker 2: really old fashioned fake you as fake as they can go.
- 12:08Speaker 2: So if you're watching even the ABC Sunday Show or
- 12:12Speaker 2: the nightly news, the headline when the tariff declared illegal
- 12:16Speaker 2: by the Court, the headline was President Trump's signature, signature
- 12:21Speaker 2: economic policy overturned by the Supreme up stunning. First of all,
- 12:26Speaker 2: it's not his signature economic policies. Signature economic policy would
- 12:31Speaker 2: be the big beautiful bill. The tariff was one tool
- 12:34Speaker 2: in the toolbox with many tools in it. And the
- 12:38Speaker 2: other thing they kept lying about the President when he
- 12:41Speaker 2: heard the news, he did a press conference later where
- 12:44Speaker 2: he really went after the court and he basically said,
- 12:46Speaker 2: we're going to do the tariffs anyway. We'll find a
- 12:47Speaker 2: way to do him. We're going to keep doing them
- 12:50Speaker 2: no matter what the court says. And then all the
- 12:53Speaker 2: fake news, every newscast opened with unprecedented response, unprecedented spot
- 13:00Speaker 2: defying the courts, as is unprecedent. Now, of course, this
- 13:03Speaker 2: is a total lie by fake news. If you're the
- 13:06Speaker 2: MSNBC type, you're watching this like a bobblehead, you're nodding.
- 13:09Speaker 2: Then you're all repeating to each other. It's unprecedented the
- 13:12Speaker 2: way he It happens all the time. I'll give you
- 13:15Speaker 2: a recent example of what Joe Biden would forgive the
- 13:18Speaker 2: student loans. Supreme Court overturned it. Biden immediately held a
- 13:22Speaker 2: press conference announcing that he was going to defy the court.
- 13:24Speaker 2: He was going to do it anyway. He didn't care
- 13:26Speaker 2: what the hell the court said. He was going to
- 13:28Speaker 2: go ahead with the plan. They'll still find a way
- 13:30Speaker 2: to do it. It's done all the time. Whenever this is
- 13:32Speaker 2: a Supreme Court ruling democrats don't like, they just ignore
- 13:36Speaker 2: it and continue. Here's aoc on. This is a few
- 13:39Speaker 2: years ago Supreme Court ruling she didn't like.
- 13:42Speaker 6: There has been thought, I believe given to this. Senator
- 13:44Speaker 6: Ron Wyden has already issued statements, for example, advising what
- 13:49Speaker 6: we should do in a situation like this, which I
- 13:51Speaker 6: concur which is that I believe that the Biden administration
- 13:54Speaker 6: should ignore this ruling.
- 13:56Speaker 2: Yeah, that's a Democrat, so a way of handling Supreme
- 13:58Speaker 2: Court rules they don't like, totally norm and out and
- 14:01Speaker 2: out defy them. So it's not unprecedented. Thank you to NBC, CBSABC,
- 14:07Speaker 2: everybody for just out and out lying to their viewers.
- 14:10Speaker 2: Unprecedented response. So hey, mar Alago. This weekend, a assassin
- 14:15Speaker 2: showed up with a shotgun and a big can of gasoline,
- 14:20Speaker 2: got over the fence, went through the perimeter, was on
- 14:23Speaker 2: the property. Confronted by Secret Service and local police. They
- 14:29Speaker 2: told them to drop the weapon, drop the gas can.
- 14:31Speaker 2: They had their weapons out. They told him to drop
- 14:34Speaker 2: his weapon. Instead he raised his weapon and aimed it
- 14:37Speaker 2: the shotgun, and of course then they shot and killed them.
- 14:42Speaker 2: There's something unusual about these assassins, the one in Butler, Pennsylvania,
- 14:46Speaker 2: this one on Saturday. These are the only they're young.
- 14:50Speaker 2: They're all like twenty, you know, twenty years old. They're
- 14:53Speaker 2: the only young people that have no social media presence
- 14:56Speaker 2: of any kind. Nothing very suspicious. It's very very very unusual.
- 15:02Speaker 2: So uh, and obviously he's not too great at using
- 15:07Speaker 2: the internet. If you check the President's schedule, he should
- 15:10Speaker 2: get on the list. We get we get sent the
- 15:12Speaker 2: President's schedule every night for the next day. If you
- 15:15Speaker 2: looked at the president's schedule, he was not going to
- 15:17Speaker 2: be in Florida this weekend. The big governor's conference was
- 15:21Speaker 2: at the White House Friday, and then Saturday night there's
- 15:24Speaker 2: a big dinner for all the governors at the White House.
- 15:26Speaker 2: So this was one weekend the president was not going
- 15:29Speaker 2: to be in Florida. So the assassin showed up with
- 15:32Speaker 2: his shotgun. No president there, just the old ladies of
- 15:35Speaker 2: mar Lago on the dining room going, oh my god,
- 15:39Speaker 2: did you hear it was an assassin? He tried he
- 15:41Speaker 2: had a gun and he was gonna anyway. We'll text hey,
- 15:44Speaker 2: we're going to take some calls. Next, I want you
- 15:46Speaker 2: to call me from all over the Tri state area.
- 15:48Speaker 2: We'll get a snow report. Tell me what it's like
- 15:50Speaker 2: where you are. We'll take some calls. Next. Eight hundred
- 15:53Speaker 2: three two one zero seven ten is the number eight
- 15:56Speaker 2: hundred three two one zero seven ten in.
- 16:00Speaker 1: Mark on Demand by setting a pre sad for his
- 16:03Speaker 1: podcast on the iHeartRadio app.
- 16:06Speaker 7: Now back to Mark Simon on w o R.
- 16:10Speaker 2: It's a mess out there. It's bad in the city.
- 16:11Speaker 2: You got about fifteen inches, but not as bad as
- 16:14Speaker 2: some of the suburbs. Let's go take a look around
- 16:17Speaker 2: the Tri state area. Check out how everybody's doing. Let's
- 16:20Speaker 2: go to Arturo port Chester in Westchester, Portchester, Arturo.
- 16:26Speaker 8: How you doing, Yes, sir, no time, no talking. Listen,
- 16:31Speaker 8: I'm calling from West Chapel.
- 16:32Speaker 9: With that.
- 16:34Speaker 2: You're cutting out, you're calling from where Chapel.
- 16:40Speaker 8: I don't know if you know that. I don't know
- 16:42Speaker 8: what what went on with the snow over there. So
- 16:46Speaker 8: what I want, what I want to say is the
- 16:48Speaker 8: President should an now announcing the state of the Union
- 16:51Speaker 8: tomorrow that all the uh on, the illegals are going
- 16:54Speaker 8: to become legal who have no crime. I'm going to
- 16:57Speaker 8: become Republican vote voters.
- 17:00Speaker 2: It's a it's an old joke. It's that's all over
- 17:01Speaker 2: the internet. Declare them all. If they vote a Republican,
- 17:06Speaker 2: they'll get free citizenship and then Democrats will personally carry
- 17:10Speaker 2: them over the border and get rid of them. So,
- 17:12Speaker 2: uh yeah, port Chester, very nice. You got you got
- 17:16Speaker 2: the best Colony pizza, the best looking one in port Chester.
- 17:20Speaker 2: You got Sergio saw Pit, you got a beautiful costco there.
- 17:24Speaker 2: Let's go to Peter in the Ulster County, Peter, how
- 17:26Speaker 2: you doing.
- 17:27Speaker 10: I'm doing, Mark doing good, Marks County, New York, near Kingston.
- 17:32Speaker 10: So we got about eight inches of snow. That's it morning, yep,
- 17:36Speaker 10: just eight inches. And then it stopped. And now it
- 17:39Speaker 10: started to snow slightly again, but not nearly as much
- 17:43Speaker 10: as down south and Rockham which around.
- 17:46Speaker 2: Fifteen All right, well, thanks for cons See that's the thing. Normally,
- 17:50Speaker 2: the farther up you go, the more snow you get.
- 17:52Speaker 2: The closer yard of the coast, the less snow. This
- 17:55Speaker 2: storm is different, totally different. It hugged the shoreline and
- 18:01Speaker 2: it's so it's the opposite. The farther, more north yard,
- 18:05Speaker 2: the less you got to. I'm looking at some numbers. Now,
- 18:07Speaker 2: the Hampton's twenty six inches, twenty six inches in the
- 18:11Speaker 2: Hampton's pretty bad. Even east Meadow, Long Island twenty one inches. Wow.
- 18:17Speaker 2: Let's go to Jill upper east side. Jill, how you doing?
- 18:21Speaker 11: Yeah, I'm doing great, Milk, how are you doing?
- 18:23Speaker 2: I'm good?
- 18:25Speaker 12: So to me.
- 18:26Speaker 11: I looked at the window this morning and it looks okay,
- 18:28Speaker 11: it's seen out of doctor Chivago. I almost uh okay,
- 18:32Speaker 11: by wait wait.
- 18:32Speaker 2: Wait, let's clear this up. I know what you mean. Okay,
- 18:36Speaker 2: but it's different. You're on the Upper east Side. It's
- 18:38Speaker 2: not Doctor Zivago because in Doctor Xvaga, if you said
- 18:40Speaker 2: hello to anybody, they would go, how are you. It's
- 18:43Speaker 2: a different And when you look out your window, you're
- 18:48Speaker 2: seeing fourteen Starbucks, three bodegas. You didn't see that in
- 18:51Speaker 2: Doctor See No, no.
- 18:52Speaker 3: No, no, don't.
- 18:52Speaker 11: I don't see that. I'm on a side street. But anyway,
- 18:56Speaker 11: there's a tree in front. It looks like it's going
- 18:58Speaker 11: to fall Alver. I mean, the snow is so it's
- 19:00Speaker 11: so heavy.
- 19:05Speaker 2: What happened to her phone? Your phone went, I think
- 19:08Speaker 2: maybe the tree feul It sound like you lost your
- 19:10Speaker 2: power there. I hope not. Let's go to George Port Jefferson,
- 19:13Speaker 2: north Shore along island. George.
- 19:15Speaker 12: How you doing fine?
- 19:17Speaker 13: Mark?
- 19:17Speaker 14: It's about twenty inches long Jefferson. Twenty inches, Yeah, but
- 19:22Speaker 14: it's very windy because we're by the water and it's stopped.
- 19:25Speaker 14: It's stopping. The snow is stopping. The only bad part
- 19:28Speaker 14: is I'm locked in the house with my wife all day.
- 19:30Speaker 14: You know, we argue, so I can't escape because the
- 19:33Speaker 14: guy hasn't come and plowed.
- 19:34Speaker 2: You know, this is a big problem. You got all
- 19:36Speaker 2: these governors, they're going too and just just stay home.
- 19:38Speaker 2: Just stay home and trapped with your wife for twenty one.
- 19:41Speaker 12: We'll kill each other.
- 19:42Speaker 14: But one question. You know, Schumer is very unpopular, but
- 19:48Speaker 14: Cortez I don't know. Could Cortes really kill him in
- 19:51Speaker 14: the Senate race in your opinion? Yes, yes, okay.
- 19:54Speaker 2: Schumer could not get elected nobody nobody, Uh, but you
- 19:59Speaker 2: can put any in there and they could beat Schumer.
- 20:01Speaker 2: Schumer is repulsive, not just now to Republicans. Democrats are
- 20:05Speaker 2: repulsed by him. Younger voters just can't stand the vote
- 20:09Speaker 2: for anybody to get rid of them. Let's go to
- 20:11Speaker 2: Joe Elmwood Park, New Jersey. Joe, what's it like out there?
- 20:16Speaker 1: No, it's eases up.
- 20:17Speaker 8: We got thirteen inches here in Elmwood Park.
- 20:20Speaker 9: Well make you Shirley.
- 20:22Speaker 15: Well, she needs the red nose and big red shoes.
- 20:26Speaker 2: Clown shoes.
- 20:27Speaker 9: I know.
- 20:27Speaker 2: The governor. Well, that's uh. We can't laugh about your
- 20:31Speaker 2: governor because we got we got Kathy Hockel. Soon we'll
- 20:34Speaker 2: have Bruce Blackman. It will be much better. Let's go
- 20:36Speaker 2: to Ed in Allentown, Pennsylvania.
- 20:38Speaker 1: Ed.
- 20:38Speaker 2: How you doing putting.
- 20:40Speaker 8: Ahead, Mark, thanks for taking my call. And there it
- 20:45Speaker 8: looks like we got three to five injures and it's
- 20:47Speaker 8: really not even shovelable for me. So I think it's
- 20:50Speaker 8: a little ridiculous they closed in school. I think it's
- 20:53Speaker 8: overtime up, overtime operations for municipal workers. Frankly, I don't think.
- 20:59Speaker 2: Hey, we got we got fifteen inches, eighteen inches. It
- 21:02Speaker 2: could have been just as bad. You never know.
- 21:04Speaker 8: I'm a daughter in Port Jack and the previous call
- 21:08Speaker 8: of just told me she's still sleep and tell me
- 21:10Speaker 8: how much I got. So yeah, thanks for that.
- 21:12Speaker 2: All right, thanks for calling. Let's go to Jimmy New Milford.
- 21:15Speaker 2: Where's that Connecticut? Right?
- 21:17Speaker 10: No, Mark, this is New Jersey, Oh, New Jersey, about
- 21:20Speaker 10: two miles away from the famous Paramus shopping wolves.
- 21:24Speaker 2: Mark, Hey, just sound like one of those guys in
- 21:27Speaker 2: The Irishman. You sound like you're in the Irishman telling
- 21:31Speaker 2: uh de Niro. Somebody's got to talk to him and
- 21:34Speaker 2: tell him to shut up.
- 21:35Speaker 9: You don't got to do nothing.
- 21:37Speaker 15: But at anyway it is damn is going to march
- 21:41Speaker 15: on the Patty Stap parade.
- 21:43Speaker 2: I don't think I wouldn't count it, all right, now let.
- 21:45Speaker 9: Me hear you.
- 21:45Speaker 2: I don't think let me hear you say. I want
- 21:48Speaker 2: to hear you say. What were you doing in Delaware?
- 21:52Speaker 9: What are you doing in Telaware? Don't you have any
- 21:55Speaker 9: place at all?
- 21:56Speaker 15: No?
- 21:56Speaker 2: Like Harvey kai Tell in the movie So any thanks
- 21:59Speaker 2: for calling. Let's go to Phil and Queen's Phil. How
- 22:01Speaker 2: you doing?
- 22:02Speaker 16: Hey?
- 22:02Speaker 17: How you doing? Sanitation's doing a great job here. I'm
- 22:05Speaker 17: there at Fresh Meadows, Jamaica Estates. They're Saint John's and
- 22:09Speaker 17: they're doing a great job. But I wanted to make
- 22:11Speaker 17: a comment. Man, Damny couldn't put salt down. He doesn't
- 22:16Speaker 17: know how he had a shovel the other day. The
- 22:18Speaker 17: guy has never done anything.
- 22:20Speaker 2: Okay, but wait, wait that you're talking about the three
- 22:22Speaker 2: weeks ago, four weeks ago snowstorm.
- 22:25Speaker 17: No, no, no, he had a shovel at a groundbreaking
- 22:29Speaker 17: It's like he never had a shovel in his air.
- 22:31Speaker 9: And he well, he.
- 22:32Speaker 2: Doesn't look like a guy who's done construction work or anything.
- 22:35Speaker 2: He doesn't exactly look He looks like an elite college kid,
- 22:38Speaker 2: has never done it.
- 22:38Speaker 17: He doesn't know how to do anything.
- 22:40Speaker 2: Well, that's he knows how to talk.
- 22:42Speaker 17: He's a good talker, but a good talk around a
- 22:45Speaker 17: fake freudas you know who used.
- 22:47Speaker 2: To say, yeah, that's right. Yeah, Now the salt will work.
- 22:51Speaker 2: To say, here's the other thing. The last snowstorm, it
- 22:54Speaker 2: was ridiculously cold. It was like ten to fifteen degrees.
- 22:57Speaker 2: You know, salt doesn't work when it gets that cold.
- 23:00Speaker 2: It's not very effective when it snows and it's like
- 23:03Speaker 2: thirty one thirty two. The salt work. So that's the
- 23:05Speaker 2: good news here. Salt will work on this one. And
- 23:09Speaker 2: it looks like it'll all be over by about five
- 23:11Speaker 2: point thirty. That should be the on five to thirty
- 23:13Speaker 2: six around there. That'll be the end of it. The
- 23:15Speaker 2: snow is much less now. It's it's lightning up. I
- 23:19Speaker 2: mean it's falling at a much slower rate. In the
- 23:22Speaker 2: middle of the night, we're getting like two inches an hour.
- 23:24Speaker 2: Now we're getting like zero point two inches an hour.
- 23:27Speaker 2: So it's a big difference. And the winds are not
- 23:30Speaker 2: as bad. They were forty fifty miles an hour, they're
- 23:33Speaker 2: twenty thirty miles an hour.
- 23:34Speaker 9: Here.
- 23:35Speaker 2: Hey, when we come back, Ed Rollins, we'll talk to
- 23:37Speaker 2: the Dean himself, the great political analyst. What should the
- 23:39Speaker 2: president do? Tomorrow night's State of the Union. We'll ask
- 23:42Speaker 2: him in a moment on seven ten, wr his job?
- 23:47Speaker 7: Make it all makes sense? He's marks amone on sevent ten.
- 23:55Speaker 2: Hey, let's talk to the Dean himself, Ed Rollins. Of course,
- 23:58Speaker 2: he's run a million campaigns. He's worked in a lot
- 24:01Speaker 2: of white houses. Nobody knows this stuff better, Ed Rollins,
- 24:04Speaker 2: How you doing good?
- 24:06Speaker 9: Mark? And then the weather being terrible all of us
- 24:08Speaker 9: in the east colast there.
- 24:10Speaker 2: Yeah, it's a mess. Hey, tomorrow night's State of the
- 24:14Speaker 2: Union speech? What does the President need to accomplish in
- 24:17Speaker 2: that speech?
- 24:18Speaker 9: It's a very big speech. There's a lot of things
- 24:21Speaker 9: on his plate. He needs to explain to the American public.
- 24:25Speaker 9: I was going to bring the government back into in
- 24:27Speaker 9: the functioning, especially with the weather and what have you
- 24:29Speaker 9: in FEMA and the and the Hemeline security stuff being out. Secondly,
- 24:34Speaker 9: he's got to explain to the American public and he's
- 24:36Speaker 9: going to do anything in Iran. This is a chance
- 24:38Speaker 9: for him to do that, set the tone and say
- 24:42Speaker 9: I want peace and why I want peace? If that's
- 24:44Speaker 9: the case. The third thing that he needs to any
- 24:47Speaker 9: deal on is he's clearly convincing people that this tariff
- 24:51Speaker 9: plan was correct, and he's going to obviously out of
- 24:56Speaker 9: the court is his rule that he can't use this
- 24:58Speaker 9: particular provision. Why he wants to continue to move that
- 25:02Speaker 9: ball forward. To a certain extent, it's a terrible time
- 25:07Speaker 9: for his tigress, which is another element here, because the
- 25:12Speaker 9: new provisions that he has, he can put some of
- 25:14Speaker 9: the provisions some of the terrorists back in, but in
- 25:17Speaker 9: five months the Congress has to approve it. Five months
- 25:19Speaker 9: is right at the heart of a campaign, and he
- 25:22Speaker 9: basically Democrats are going to say this is a tax
- 25:26Speaker 9: raising taxes. He's got to make the case that's what
- 25:28Speaker 9: he wants, just the opposite. So he's got a big speech.
- 25:32Speaker 9: He can't stand up there to attack the court because
- 25:34Speaker 9: he doesn't like the court, doesn't like the decision. He's
- 25:37Speaker 9: got to deal with this court and they don't care.
- 25:40Speaker 9: Most of the people in the country don't know who
- 25:42Speaker 9: is on the court, let alone who the names are.
- 25:45Speaker 9: So I think to a certain extent, he can't get
- 25:47Speaker 9: in a fight with the court. There's too many provisions
- 25:49Speaker 9: that he needs at this point in time to fight
- 25:52Speaker 9: with him. Yeah, so find alternatives when.
- 25:57Speaker 2: It comes to defying the court. It's done all the time.
- 25:59Speaker 2: The last time is Biden the student loan stuff was
- 26:02Speaker 2: ruled illegal and Biden said, I'll defy them. I'll do
- 26:05Speaker 2: it anyway. So it's it's not unprecedented, is it.
- 26:08Speaker 9: No, it's not unprecedent. What happened to Biden?
- 26:11Speaker 8: Where Biden it's on the beach.
- 26:13Speaker 2: All right?
- 26:15Speaker 10: Uh?
- 26:15Speaker 2: And then when it comes to Iran, you're talking about
- 26:17Speaker 2: the most evil regime in the world, slaughtering people, Uh,
- 26:23Speaker 2: funding terrorism, trying to get rid of Israel. Do we
- 26:26Speaker 2: really need to explain why we want regime change?
- 26:29Speaker 9: Well, I don't think we have to explain it. If
- 26:31Speaker 9: we're going to do it, we need to basically get
- 26:34Speaker 9: the parision of the Congress to do it. You know,
- 26:36Speaker 9: he's got a third of the Navy sitting off the
- 26:39Speaker 9: coast there, and you know, I think the American public
- 26:42Speaker 9: doesn't want to have another war in the Middle East
- 26:44Speaker 9: on the last couple of miserable failures. And I think
- 26:48Speaker 9: the reality is, you know, there's lots of lots of
- 26:51Speaker 9: things he can do at this point in time. He
- 26:52Speaker 9: can't raise expectations. He raised expectations a couple weeksto telling
- 26:56Speaker 9: the people when they wri any people just stay on
- 26:58Speaker 9: the streets out they're shortly. Can't do that again. Whatever
- 27:02Speaker 9: your plan is, you got to basically implement it. Explain
- 27:04Speaker 9: the American public why get to get Congress and the
- 27:07Speaker 9: dialogue tries to do it alone and it becomes a disaster. Uh, disasters,
- 27:13Speaker 9: American kids getting killed when I'm going to move for
- 27:17Speaker 9: that is important. The cost of war in the Middle
- 27:21Speaker 9: East is enormous. Uh uh you know it all oil
- 27:25Speaker 9: that comes out of that area. Uh. You know, it's
- 27:27Speaker 9: not gonna be a quick thing like Venezuela as it's
- 27:30Speaker 9: you know, there's no there's no quick wars anymore. And
- 27:33Speaker 9: you can blow up nuclear reactors and you can go
- 27:36Speaker 9: down and take some guy out at the top in Venezuela.
- 27:39Speaker 9: But this is this is an administration that thinks that
- 27:43Speaker 9: God has put them there and that they are the gods. Uh.
- 27:46Speaker 9: And then we have to explain why why we want
- 27:48Speaker 9: to change it?
- 27:49Speaker 2: Yeah? Uh, Hey, what do the Democrats need to do tomorrow?
- 27:52Speaker 2: The state of the Union. Usually they do something to
- 27:54Speaker 2: embarrass themselves. They look rude and obnoxious. How should they
- 27:59Speaker 2: behave tomorrow? Both people?
- 28:02Speaker 9: I mean the problem is that he is a show.
- 28:05Speaker 9: They're they're feeling very empowered at this point in time
- 28:07Speaker 9: when they should be or not. They're not. Their numbers
- 28:09Speaker 9: aren't much better than the presidents, but I think to
- 28:11Speaker 9: a certain extent, they feel they have some momentum. They
- 28:14Speaker 9: don't have many policies that they are appealing in the country,
- 28:18Speaker 9: But at the same time, they're the alternative, and I
- 28:20Speaker 9: think being being the alternative the better place right now
- 28:24Speaker 9: than trying to basically deal with her serious agenda. So, uh,
- 28:28Speaker 9: you know, they're performed, they'll they'll do something, but you know,
- 28:32Speaker 9: it's it's it's the president's show, and people are going
- 28:35Speaker 9: to tune in to watch what he says, what he does.
- 28:38Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, there's no law that you have to
- 28:41Speaker 2: do it in front of Congress. And some people are
- 28:43Speaker 2: saying if they if the Democrats get rude and disruptive
- 28:46Speaker 2: this time, next time, don't do the State of the
- 28:48Speaker 2: Union in Congress. Do it somewhere, do it in front
- 28:50Speaker 2: of my rushmore, do do it in some other setting.
- 28:52Speaker 9: What you president to make a speech. President make a
- 28:55Speaker 9: speech anytime he wants to. Yeah, And there's no as
- 28:58Speaker 9: you say this, there's nothing requires the president to do
- 29:01Speaker 9: a state of the state of the Union. Uh, it's
- 29:03Speaker 9: a tradition, it's not a and I think to a
- 29:05Speaker 9: certain extent, you want to use it to basically make
- 29:08Speaker 9: your case, make your argument. He just has to be
- 29:11Speaker 9: very careful and not he has to be a sales
- 29:15Speaker 9: He has to basically show that he's not a nasty man,
- 29:19Speaker 9: that this is not this is not petty. Uh. Those
- 29:23Speaker 9: are not going to pets. You're not going to move
- 29:26Speaker 9: from p President's party. Uh. That he wants someone who's
- 29:29Speaker 9: strong project strength. Uh. And that he's in charge. He
- 29:33Speaker 9: knows what's happening with the country, and he has he's
- 29:36Speaker 9: tough case to make, and he's got to convince voters
- 29:38Speaker 9: that that the economy is going to get better and
- 29:41Speaker 9: that and the fields that they passed well in time.
- 29:45Speaker 9: But at the same time public doesn't weigh that yet.
- 29:48Speaker 9: So you can't can't take them for granted. You've got
- 29:51Speaker 9: you got to be super salesman, which he traditionally has
- 29:53Speaker 9: met an effective salesman. But that's what he's going to do.
- 29:56Speaker 9: If he doesn't do that, he gets petty. Uh, he
- 30:00Speaker 9: gets Peddy to him, they'll get Petty back to them.
- 30:02Speaker 9: And if everybody hates the Congress, and everybody hates the president.
- 30:05Speaker 9: The president's party loses. He's the charge, his parties in charge,
- 30:10Speaker 9: and they.
- 30:12Speaker 2: Let me ask you them. I know the president pretty well.
- 30:14Speaker 2: I can see it in his face sometimes where he
- 30:16Speaker 2: came from a very glamorous life, but he likes being president.
- 30:19Speaker 2: But I can see it now. I can see him
- 30:20Speaker 2: getting a little bored and restless at times. Did you
- 30:23Speaker 2: ever have that problem like with Reagan where he felt
- 30:25Speaker 2: a little confined in the White House that got a
- 30:27Speaker 2: little bored.
- 30:28Speaker 9: Well, the second second terms are hard, and you know
- 30:32Speaker 9: he had set Our second term was right after the
- 30:34Speaker 9: first term, in four years in between. And I think
- 30:37Speaker 9: to a certain extent, the president has been dominating this
- 30:40Speaker 9: economy and this program for a long period of time.
- 30:44Speaker 9: He now has more power, actual power than any president
- 30:47Speaker 9: since Lynnon Johnson and Kitty Roosevelt Republican and Franklin Roosevelt Democrat.
- 30:54Speaker 9: So he's taken a lot of power. He has to
- 30:56Speaker 9: do some things for that power. And I think to
- 30:58Speaker 9: a certain extent he's going to sell it coast of all,
- 31:00Speaker 9: you're going to sell it. Yeah, And there's always the
- 31:02Speaker 9: traditional change in the midterms, and and there's no reason.
- 31:06Speaker 9: You know, there's not a lot of seats that are
- 31:07Speaker 9: going to competitive, gonna be twenty five maybe thirty seats
- 31:09Speaker 9: of the most that it could be competitive, and you've
- 31:12Speaker 9: got to win to win a majority of the pad.
- 31:14Speaker 2: Yeah, all right, well not too late.
- 31:16Speaker 9: Just it just just he just needs to be in
- 31:18Speaker 9: his persuasive best.
- 31:19Speaker 2: All right, good stuff ed, Rollins. Great is always. Thanks
- 31:22Speaker 2: for being with us. My pleasure that all right, take care. Well,
- 31:28Speaker 2: we've got a lot to get to coming up. We'll
- 31:29Speaker 2: get we'll get you all the latest on the storm.
- 31:32Speaker 2: It's winding down. It'll all be over by five thirty
- 31:35Speaker 2: or six. If you're thinking of flying somewhere, forget it.
- 31:38Speaker 2: Every airport is closed, all the flights are canceled. It's
- 31:41Speaker 2: an absolute mess if you want to get around in
- 31:43Speaker 2: New York, believe it or not. The subways are working,
- 31:46Speaker 2: and not every single line, but they're working a lot
- 31:49Speaker 2: of delays. And I know the mayor has declared an emergency.
- 31:55Speaker 2: The roads are closed. But if you look out the window,
- 31:58Speaker 2: every so often you see a cab go by, you
- 31:59Speaker 2: see a uber go by, so and there are cars
- 32:03Speaker 2: out there, not a lot. Hey, don't forget Buck Sexton
- 32:06Speaker 2: Klay Travis. They got an excellent show coming up at
- 32:09Speaker 2: noon today. Buck has a new book coming out. We'll
- 32:12Speaker 2: talk about it on the show later in the week.
- 32:14Speaker 2: And then three o'clock today, you got the most listened
- 32:17Speaker 2: to radio show in America. Sean Hannity got Jesse Kelly.
- 32:20Speaker 2: At six, you got the very funny Jimmy Failer. You
- 32:24Speaker 2: got to listen to this. It's a great show every
- 32:26Speaker 2: night at nine. Here on seven to ten wor.
- 32:30Speaker 7: Here's more of the Mark Simung Show on.
- 32:33Speaker 2: Wor Well Mayor Mom Donnie. Not making the same dumb
- 32:39Speaker 2: mistake last time, leaving the homeless out there on the
- 32:41Speaker 2: street in a blizzard. We had seventeen deaths as a
- 32:45Speaker 2: result of that. This time it's different.
- 32:46Speaker 3: We have put our city in an enhanced Code blue.
- 32:49Speaker 3: Now what that means is that not only are we
- 32:52Speaker 3: going to be re routing all three one one calls
- 32:55Speaker 3: regarding homeless New Yorkers in need of assistance to nine
- 32:57Speaker 3: one one, but we are also opening up twenty two
- 33:01Speaker 3: warming buses, eleven H and H warming spaces, thirteen DOE
- 33:05Speaker 3: warming centers, as you heard from the Chancellor, and we
- 33:07Speaker 3: are also critically keeping our on point overdose prevention centers
- 33:12Speaker 3: open overnight through the blizzard.
- 33:14Speaker 2: All right, it sounds good, but we'll see. All right, now,
- 33:16Speaker 2: here's the good news. It's about thirty degrees right now,
- 33:19Speaker 2: so it's freezing snow not melting, but it will go
- 33:22Speaker 2: over freezing. Around two o'clock it'll get to thirty five
- 33:26Speaker 2: degrees and then for the next few hours it'll be
- 33:29Speaker 2: thirty six degrees, so that'll help melt some of the snow.
- 33:33Speaker 2: Then tomorrow thirty three degrees. That's not great, but then
- 33:38Speaker 2: on Wednesday forty degrees and it'll stay near forty for
- 33:41Speaker 2: the rest of the week. That should melt all the snow.
- 33:44Speaker 2: So unlike last time, we'll get rid of this snow.
- 33:46Speaker 2: It looks like a little rain on Wednesday Wednesday night,
- 33:49Speaker 2: so that'll help get rid of the snow, so it
- 33:51Speaker 2: won't be as bad as last time. It'll remain for weeks.
- 33:54Speaker 2: We got another hour and a lot to get to.
- 33:57Speaker 2: Don't go away, Mark Simone in the studio here on
- 34:00Speaker 2: seven w.
- 34:02Speaker 1: Still Mark Simone show continues WI.
- 34:10Speaker 2: It's only Monday in a rough week. So far, it's
- 34:14Speaker 2: a mess out there. Just looking out the window, I
- 34:17Speaker 2: see more people walking around hour and a half ago
- 34:22Speaker 2: you look out the window and see maybe one person
- 34:24Speaker 2: on a block walking along the side with Now it's
- 34:26Speaker 2: like four or five six. So but people are starting
- 34:29Speaker 2: to get out there. A lot of stuff will be
- 34:31Speaker 2: closed today. Check wherever you're going. Restaurants, supermarkets, a lot
- 34:35Speaker 2: of stuff is not open today. Also, it's gonna it'll
- 34:41Speaker 2: all die down. It's gonna end by five thirty or six.
- 34:43Speaker 2: The wind already dying down. The rate of the snowfall
- 34:46Speaker 2: is dramatically down. It was snowing it like two inches
- 34:50Speaker 2: an hour overnight. Now it's snowing it like zero point
- 34:53Speaker 2: two inches an hour. So much better now. President truck
- 35:00Speaker 2: tomorrow night, big State of the Union speech. He'll talk
- 35:03Speaker 2: about tariffs and how to continue them. He can keep
- 35:05Speaker 2: doing the tariffs, just as Supreme Court was not a
- 35:10Speaker 2: massive slap down of the tariffs. They basically said the
- 35:14Speaker 2: law you're using to do it is the wrong one.
- 35:17Speaker 2: And they didn't offer any remedy of any kind. They
- 35:20Speaker 2: didn't say you got to return the money or since
- 35:24Speaker 2: they kept it very light, it was a very light
- 35:26Speaker 2: slap on the wrist. It wasn't what the networks made
- 35:30Speaker 2: it out to be. President Trump not happy with the ruling.
- 35:33Speaker 15: I can destroy the trade. I can destroy it.
- 35:36Speaker 2: What he's talking about here is a lot of people
- 35:39Speaker 2: think the Supreme Court ruling was incorrect, including Justice Kavanaugh,
- 35:42Speaker 2: who probably wrote the smartest opinion on it. He used
- 35:46Speaker 2: this Emergency Powers Act, which allows him to do pretty
- 35:50Speaker 2: much anything when it comes to trade with another country.
- 35:54Speaker 2: He can shut it down altogether. He can do so
- 35:56Speaker 2: many things that, to Kavanaugh's point is it's kind of
- 36:01Speaker 2: crazy to think when they wrote this act they didn't
- 36:05Speaker 2: also mean he could have tariffs. If you could do
- 36:08Speaker 2: the most extreme things, why couldn't he do a light
- 36:10Speaker 2: thing like this. So many believe Kavanaugh was right on this,
- 36:13Speaker 2: the other judges were wrong in order to even that's
- 36:16Speaker 2: what he's talking about here.
- 36:17Speaker 15: I can destroy the trade. I can destroy the country.
- 36:21Speaker 15: I'm even allowed to impose a foreign country destroying embargo.
- 36:26Speaker 15: I can embargo. I can do anything I want, but
- 36:29Speaker 15: I can't charge one dollar.
- 36:32Speaker 2: So that was Kavanaugh's point, and he's probably right. It
- 36:34Speaker 2: was a crazy ruling.
- 36:35Speaker 15: They're just being fools and lapdogs for the rhinos and
- 36:39Speaker 15: the radical left Democrats, and not that they should have anything.
- 36:44Speaker 2: At all to do with it.
- 36:45Speaker 15: They're very unpatriotic and disloyal to our constitution.
- 36:48Speaker 2: Yeah, now, if you're watching the networks, this is unprecedented. Now,
- 36:52Speaker 2: it's not. Plenty of presidents of attacked a Supreme Court ruling.
- 36:55Speaker 2: But you can't say bad things about the justices. Well,
- 36:57Speaker 2: of course you can. You notice the king of that
- 36:59Speaker 2: Chuck Schume. Remember when it came to what was it
- 37:02Speaker 2: some sort of an abortion room. You remember Schumer out
- 37:04Speaker 2: there at the rally with the megaphone warning, gorsious, you're
- 37:08Speaker 2: gonna get it, You're gonna get yours. We're gonna go
- 37:10Speaker 2: after you. So nobody's been worse at threatening attacking the
- 37:15Speaker 2: Supreme Court justice than Chuck Schumer himself. President Trump just
- 37:19Speaker 2: saying he's disappointed the.
- 37:21Speaker 15: Supreme Court's ruling on tariffs is deeply disappointing, and I'm
- 37:28Speaker 15: ashamed of certain members of the court, absolutely ashamed for
- 37:33Speaker 15: not having the courage to do what's right for our country.
- 37:37Speaker 2: Why. Why this is unprecedented this kind of response, No,
- 37:40Speaker 2: it's not. Plenty of presidents have said exactly the same thing. Hey,
- 37:45Speaker 2: the Olympics, are they over yet? No, they're still going. Hey, well,
- 37:51Speaker 2: who watches network TV anyway? I'm not a big Olympics fan,
- 37:54Speaker 2: and I have no interest ever have in hockey. I
- 37:56Speaker 2: don't know why, I just can't get interested in hockey
- 37:59Speaker 2: watching it. But this was a great moment for the
- 38:02Speaker 2: United States as they beat the Canadian hockey team when
- 38:05Speaker 2: it's really significant because right now we're bickering with Canada
- 38:10Speaker 2: and right now well and also because Canada is the
- 38:14Speaker 2: the hockey capital of the world. So if you can
- 38:16Speaker 2: beat Canada and hockey, you can beat anybody. Great moment
- 38:19Speaker 2: for the United States.
- 38:20Speaker 7: God's faith with numbers walk Acrostic compas Jack Switcher the
- 38:28Speaker 7: golden goal for the United States.
- 38:34Speaker 1: For the first time since the nineteen eighty Bear gold
- 38:37Speaker 1: the the United States.
- 38:39Speaker 2: Takes the doll Well, it was quite exciting, all right,
- 38:44Speaker 2: it was. I mean again, I'm not a hockey fan.
- 38:45Speaker 2: I'm not a big Olympic fan, but that was exciting.
- 38:48Speaker 2: The snow stay home. You got the best county executive
- 38:51Speaker 2: in America, Bruce Blakeman, Nassau County.
- 38:55Speaker 18: It's easier for our cruise to make the highways and
- 38:59Speaker 18: roadways safe, and it will be safer for you to
- 39:01Speaker 18: stay home with the high winds and the snow and
- 39:05Speaker 18: the lack of visibility.
- 39:08Speaker 2: Yeah, that's another reason for these emergency things where you're
- 39:11Speaker 2: not allowed to drive. They want nobody on the roads.
- 39:13Speaker 2: It's because it's easier to clear the roads and clean
- 39:15Speaker 2: them and keep You can't just wait till it all
- 39:17Speaker 2: falls and then clean the road. You got to clean
- 39:20Speaker 2: and plow like every couple of inches in order to
- 39:22Speaker 2: get a ton properly. So that's the other reason.
- 39:25Speaker 18: This storm will be a profound storm, one that will
- 39:30Speaker 18: reach blizzard level with high winds fifty to sixty miles
- 39:35Speaker 18: an hour, and we could have accumulation exceeding eighteen inches,
- 39:40Speaker 18: which would definitely be historic.
- 39:43Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, you look at Blakeman. It's a good
- 39:45Speaker 2: looking guy, but you look at him, he looks like
- 39:47Speaker 2: a guy who's been around. He looks like a guy
- 39:49Speaker 2: with a ton of experience. He looks like a veteran
- 39:51Speaker 2: who's done millions. He looks like he knows what he's doing.
- 39:54Speaker 2: Then you look at mom Donnie. He looks like he
- 39:56Speaker 2: just got out of college a week ago. He looks
- 39:58Speaker 2: like Jabia read In's life was being like a paper
- 40:02Speaker 2: boy or something. He looks just like a total inexperienced.
- 40:05Speaker 3: Guy combined with daytime temperatures slipping above freezing and overnight
- 40:09Speaker 3: lows dropping to the low twenties, This snowfall will melt
- 40:13Speaker 3: then refreeze, resulting in dangerously icy sidewalks and streets.
- 40:19Speaker 2: All right, looks totally inexperienced, But you get a lot
- 40:22Speaker 2: of these young elitist little college kids. They got no
- 40:25Speaker 2: experience at all, but they can talk like this, and
- 40:27Speaker 2: they can talk very fast, and they talk so fast
- 40:28Speaker 2: than you think, well, the guy must know what he's
- 40:29Speaker 2: talking about, because who can talk that fast if he doesn't.
- 40:31Speaker 2: And they so they sound like they know what they're doing,
- 40:34Speaker 2: but then they try to do it and nothing gets done.
- 40:37Speaker 2: Speaking of nothing getting done and incompetent. So this Gavin
- 40:40Speaker 2: Newsome is running for president obviously, and you know this
- 40:45Speaker 2: voter ID question, I think everybody in the world now
- 40:50Speaker 2: realizes it's just a complete scam by Democrats. They we
- 40:54Speaker 2: have voter ID for everything, everything, everything to buy anything,
- 40:58Speaker 2: to get cough medicine, And so you've got to have
- 41:00Speaker 2: a voter photo ID everywhere to get on a plane,
- 41:04Speaker 2: come into any office building. You know, if you want
- 41:06Speaker 2: to go to MSNBC or CNN, you got to show
- 41:09Speaker 2: a photo ID. To get in their building. You have
- 41:10Speaker 2: to show photo ID everywhere for everything. So the only thing,
- 41:14Speaker 2: the only thing they don't want it for is voting,
- 41:16Speaker 2: which means it's obviously a scheme to get illegals voting,
- 41:19Speaker 2: to get people to vote multiple times. Obviously it's a scam.
- 41:23Speaker 2: So Newsom is being interviewed on some panel and he's
- 41:28Speaker 2: up there in front of the audiences. He says, well,
- 41:31Speaker 2: you can't require a photo EDD because a lot of
- 41:33Speaker 2: people don't have a birth certiate. They don't have and
- 41:36Speaker 2: then Newsom says, I don't have a birth certificate. I
- 41:39Speaker 2: don't know where it is. I haven't seen it in
- 41:41Speaker 2: a million years. I don't know where my birth certificate is,
- 41:44Speaker 2: so I can't get it. How could I get it?
- 41:47Speaker 2: A lot of people were stunned that Newsom is Could
- 41:49Speaker 2: he be that stupid? I think I assume he's just lying.
- 41:51Speaker 2: He's not actually that dumb. It's very easy to get
- 41:54Speaker 2: a birth certificate replaced. If you don't have your birth certificate,
- 41:57Speaker 2: if you lost it a million years ago, it's a
- 42:00Speaker 2: simple matter to get it replaced. Just google it replace
- 42:04Speaker 2: a birth certificate. Fifty different sites will come up. Government
- 42:09Speaker 2: sites also there's a lot of private companies that do
- 42:12Speaker 2: it for you. You just go fill out a form
- 42:14Speaker 2: where you were born, all that stuff, and they'll get
- 42:16Speaker 2: you a replacement birth certific You might have to wait
- 42:19Speaker 2: five six weeks for it to come in the mail,
- 42:21Speaker 2: but it's very easy to get a birth ativate if
- 42:24Speaker 2: you don't have yours, simple thing in the world. Nobody
- 42:26Speaker 2: could believe Newsom is that stupid, that bumbling, that he
- 42:31Speaker 2: has no idea that you can get your birthday cify
- 42:33Speaker 2: get replaced. So the Democratic Party has a problem. Besides
- 42:37Speaker 2: having all these crazy radical left wing far left woke,
- 42:42Speaker 2: they've got an amazing assortment of very dumb people. You
- 42:45Speaker 2: had AOC last weekend ten days ago. AOC is at
- 42:51Speaker 2: this conference in Munich, and she's asked a simple foreign
- 42:54Speaker 2: policy question. If China invades Taiwan, will the US respond,
- 43:01Speaker 2: Will they do something? And the answer is, of course, yes,
- 43:05Speaker 2: we will defend Taiwan. Or the answer is and this
- 43:09Speaker 2: is actually the official policy of the United States. They're
- 43:12Speaker 2: called strategic ambiguity. But you give an answer of some case.
- 43:16Speaker 2: So she couldn't answer the question. Instead, she double talked
- 43:19Speaker 2: a word salad that sounded so ridiculous. And she's been
- 43:23Speaker 2: ridiculed all over the world for bumbling an answer to
- 43:26Speaker 2: a simple question, and I guess it's getting to her.
- 43:30Speaker 2: So this weekend she put out a it was in
- 43:33Speaker 2: the middle of the night. It looked like the middle
- 43:34Speaker 2: of the night. She put out this rambling, mumbling, a
- 43:38Speaker 2: whispering kind of response, trying to explain why she gave
- 43:41Speaker 2: such a dumb answer to the question. And I guess
- 43:44Speaker 2: she does this by herself. There's no staff to say
- 43:48Speaker 2: to her, Hey, don't post this. You look like you're drunk.
- 43:50Speaker 2: It looks like it's in the middle of the night,
- 43:51Speaker 2: looks like a drunken rant. Don't post it. You look stoned,
- 43:55Speaker 2: You look well. Here it is. This is what she posted.
- 43:57Speaker 2: It's her at home alone, like right, face right in
- 44:00Speaker 2: the camera.
- 44:01Speaker 19: If you think that I don't understand foreign policy because
- 44:05Speaker 19: out of hours of discourse about international affairs, I pause
- 44:10Speaker 19: to think about one of the most sensitive geopolitical issues
- 44:14Speaker 19: that currently exist on Earth, I'm afraid the issue is
- 44:19Speaker 19: not my understanding, but rather the problem is perhaps you've
- 44:24Speaker 19: gotten adjusted to a president that never thinks before he speaks.
- 44:31Speaker 2: With that whole Uh, what the ranting was all about
- 44:34Speaker 2: it just sounds really really really crazy, but not helping
- 44:38Speaker 2: her at all. Latest on the Nancy Guthrie kidnapping h
- 44:45Speaker 2: nobody really knows anything at this point. They're talking about
- 44:47Speaker 2: that the problem is this local sheriff's office, the bumbling
- 44:52Speaker 2: local yocal you know, Barney Fife, kind of a sheriff's office.
- 44:56Speaker 2: Then making statements about the DNA could take a year
- 44:59Speaker 2: to analy I don't know what that means. They're thinking
- 45:02Speaker 2: this could be a total amateur. Somethink it's as a
- 45:06Speaker 2: couple of private eyes who've been working on this, who
- 45:09Speaker 2: think it's the drug cartel. There's a lot of people
- 45:12Speaker 2: think it's a total amateur by the bumbling way that
- 45:15Speaker 2: the amateur approached the door and then had nothing to
- 45:18Speaker 2: cover the camera with, so he grabbed some foliage and
- 45:21Speaker 2: try to do it with that, and then didn't know
- 45:22Speaker 2: how to do it. Also, the holster that he was
- 45:25Speaker 2: wearing on the front is like the lowest, cheapest, crummiest,
- 45:28Speaker 2: most amateurish holster. They don't think any professional criminal would
- 45:32Speaker 2: use such a holster. Also cited the suspects of clothing
- 45:37Speaker 2: and gear. It didn't look right. Now there's some that
- 45:41Speaker 2: still go to the Mexican drug cartel, thinking that the
- 45:44Speaker 2: type of clothing, and he's one that says, this kind
- 45:48Speaker 2: of stuff is typically in Mexico cheap holster. Those weird
- 45:52Speaker 2: looking gloves, that sort of stuff. Now they found an
- 45:55Speaker 2: Arizona couple found another pair of gloves. These these gloves
- 45:58Speaker 2: blood stain out there near the neighborhood. Actually, people have
- 46:03Speaker 2: found several different several different gloves all around the neighborhood. Well,
- 46:07Speaker 2: how does so many people throw their gloves all over
- 46:09Speaker 2: the place. It's a very warm climate there. I don't
- 46:12Speaker 2: know why all these people would have gloves anyway, who
- 46:14Speaker 2: would wear gloves in such a warm climate. But we'll see. Hey,
- 46:18Speaker 2: the Ukraine War, does anybody remember that? You know that
- 46:21Speaker 2: Russia Ukraine? Do you know they're still fighting? You never
- 46:23Speaker 2: hear a word about this ever. Used to be all
- 46:26Speaker 2: over the news. You don't hear a single thing about it.
- 46:28Speaker 2: Watch every newscast in the world for the last week,
- 46:31Speaker 2: nothing about Ukraine. But the war still continues, and Ukraine
- 46:36Speaker 2: a huge strike this past week, Ukraine strike, missile strike
- 46:43Speaker 2: against a key Russian military facility. It was a missile
- 46:47Speaker 2: factory actually, and it was deep inside Russia eight hundred
- 46:51Speaker 2: and sixty miles inside Russia, eight hundred and sixty miles
- 46:55Speaker 2: inside Russia, and the Ukraine hit it with a bunch
- 46:59Speaker 2: of missiles and took out And they used not Tomahawk missiles,
- 47:03Speaker 2: US Tomahawk. No, No, they used Flamingo missiles. Now you're saying,
- 47:07Speaker 2: what the hell's a Flamingo missile. It's actually made by
- 47:09Speaker 2: a company called the High Point. It's a Ukrainian company
- 47:13Speaker 2: in Ukraine. They can travel reportedly two thousand miles. But
- 47:17Speaker 2: they were right on target. Took out this missile factory
- 47:21Speaker 2: eight hundred and sixty miles deep inside Russia, all done
- 47:24Speaker 2: with Ukrainian made missiles. Pretty good. So it may get
- 47:29Speaker 2: to the point where they may be able to actually
- 47:31Speaker 2: make their own weapons, defend themselves, not depend on us
- 47:36Speaker 2: for anything though. We'll see. Hey, we'll take some calls
- 47:39Speaker 2: in a minute. Eight hundred three to two one zero
- 47:43Speaker 2: seven ten is the number. Eight hundred three two one
- 47:46Speaker 2: zero seven ten. We want a snow report wherever you are.
- 47:49Speaker 2: Call us from all over the Tri state area. Give
- 47:51Speaker 2: us a little snow report. Hey, you know we're doing
- 47:54Speaker 2: our big CEO event. It's a nice business network event.
- 47:58Speaker 2: If you want to meet some great business peace will
- 48:00Speaker 2: CEOs Mingle Network. We're going to do it March nineteenth,
- 48:06Speaker 2: from six to eight pm. It's going to be a
- 48:10Speaker 2: two Park Avenue. That's a beautiful new corporate event space.
- 48:13Speaker 2: If you're looking to do an event somewhere two Park Avenue.
- 48:16Speaker 2: It's Park Avenue around thirty fourth Streets, close to Grand Central,
- 48:21Speaker 2: close to Penn Station. It's got a beautiful rooftop with
- 48:24Speaker 2: a great view and a great terrace. But it'll be
- 48:27Speaker 2: March nineteenth, six to eight pm. You'll meet a lot
- 48:30Speaker 2: of business leaders. CEOs I'll be there, Larry MINTI will
- 48:33Speaker 2: be there, Curtis Leewell will be there. In fact, he'll
- 48:36Speaker 2: speak at some point. He's a great speaker in person.
- 48:39Speaker 2: But if you want to come, space is limited, So
- 48:42Speaker 2: you gotta RSVP to our CEO networking event March nineteenth,
- 48:48Speaker 2: six to eight pm. You got to an RSVP and
- 48:51Speaker 2: to do that just go to WR dot com slash live,
- 48:56Speaker 2: wr dot com slash live. So yeah, we'll take some
- 49:01Speaker 2: calls next, give me a call eight hundred three two
- 49:04Speaker 2: one zero seven.
- 49:06Speaker 7: Ten mister New York marximoniaor.
- 49:16Speaker 2: Hey, we'll take some calls eight hundred three to two
- 49:19Speaker 2: one zero seven ten is remember, let's go to Andy
- 49:22Speaker 2: in Brooklyn, Andy. What's it like in Brooklyn right now?
- 49:25Speaker 13: Misible?
- 49:27Speaker 2: Let us snow on the ground, Let us snow in the.
- 49:29Speaker 13: Streets, and you can't. You know, it's part of the
- 49:32Speaker 13: reason I'm calling you. You know, every time you call
- 49:35Speaker 13: three one one, they tell you all that it's side
- 49:38Speaker 13: of the street. Parking is suspended. But they always say, yeah,
- 49:43Speaker 13: still have to.
- 49:44Speaker 2: Feed the meter.
- 49:46Speaker 13: And maybe you know why they do that. You can't
- 49:50Speaker 13: even find the car let alone the meter in a
- 49:54Speaker 13: in a thing like this, you have any idea why
- 49:57Speaker 13: they just don't cancel both.
- 49:59Speaker 2: Yeah, it's called money, it's called revenue. They want you
- 50:02Speaker 2: to feed the meter. That way, they can send you
- 50:04Speaker 2: a ticket if you don't feed it. Obviously, right now
- 50:07Speaker 2: you can't find the meter. And do they still have
- 50:09Speaker 2: parking meters anywhere? I guess they do. I mean they haven't,
- 50:13Speaker 2: but you don't pay you There's no such thing as
- 50:14Speaker 2: putting a quarter in a parking meter anymore. You got
- 50:17Speaker 2: to use the app. And how many of these do
- 50:20Speaker 2: I have on my phone? Wherever you go, it's a
- 50:21Speaker 2: different app. If you're in Connecticut, it's this one park Mobile.
- 50:26Speaker 2: If you're somewhere else, it's Park NYC. You're gonna have
- 50:30Speaker 2: all these different apps. Passport parking. That one works in
- 50:34Speaker 2: a Long Island's a lot. Let's go to Rich in
- 50:37Speaker 2: Myrtle Beach. Rich, How you.
- 50:38Speaker 9: Doing pretty good? No snow, but it does feel like
- 50:41Speaker 9: twenty two degrees down here, so we got the cold air.
- 50:44Speaker 2: You know, So you're in Myrtle Beach. You ever get
- 50:46Speaker 2: a lot of snow? You don't get snow there, do you?
- 50:48Speaker 9: Yeah? We did. We had five inches last month and
- 50:51Speaker 9: stuck around for a day. Two last year we had
- 50:53Speaker 9: five or six inches. That's stuck around for almost a week.
- 50:56Speaker 9: But you know, they have a little clown call with
- 50:58Speaker 9: a shovel on it, and that's their their their plows,
- 51:02Speaker 9: and you know it actually just shuts down the entire
- 51:04Speaker 9: state when something like that happens.
- 51:06Speaker 2: You know, well, we got fifteen inches in New York,
- 51:08Speaker 2: eighteen inches in the suburbs, two feet in the south
- 51:12Speaker 2: shore of Long Island.
- 51:13Speaker 9: So that's why I used to live in Long Beach
- 51:15Speaker 9: and Atlantic Beach. I'd probably have two feet of snow
- 51:17Speaker 9: right now. You know, I sit around and just watch it, melt.
- 51:20Speaker 9: I used to like shoveling snow, even when I was
- 51:21Speaker 9: in my fifties. I made money shoveling snow.
- 51:25Speaker 2: Come up here. You can get nineteen dollars and forty
- 51:27Speaker 2: cents an hour from Mamdani.
- 51:29Speaker 9: Oh, I'm trying to have to show two forms of
- 51:31Speaker 9: ID even though I don't need one to vote. That's
- 51:33Speaker 9: pretty unbelievable. Was I saw that in the news the
- 51:35Speaker 9: other day. You have to have two forms of ID
- 51:38Speaker 9: to shovel snow for twelve dollars an hour, but you
- 51:40Speaker 9: don't have to have one to vote up there? You know, Hey,
- 51:43Speaker 9: I'm watching the news here, Mark, And you know they
- 51:45Speaker 9: killed this drug cartel kingpin in Mexico who was an
- 51:48Speaker 9: ex cop by the way, all right, so in seven
- 51:51Speaker 9: of the cartel's just taking the loss, putting somebody else
- 51:53Speaker 9: in charge and keep pumping out the drugs. Now they
- 51:56Speaker 9: want to just make themselves be known. And now they
- 51:58Speaker 9: want to burn half of Mexico and not just to
- 52:00Speaker 9: make things worse for him. You figured they would have learned,
- 52:01Speaker 9: but now you don't.
- 52:02Speaker 2: Yeah, it's quite a situation. You know, you could be
- 52:04Speaker 2: in New York City visiting, staying here in a hotel.
- 52:07Speaker 2: You get caught in the snowstorm. Airports are closed. You
- 52:09Speaker 2: can't get out. You could be down to Florida. Ooh, hurricane,
- 52:14Speaker 2: You're stuck. You can't get out. These people are in
- 52:17Speaker 2: this town in Mexico and some drug cartel guy shoots
- 52:21Speaker 2: the leader of the other drug cartel, like the Hector Salamanca,
- 52:27Speaker 2: and all hell breaks loose. This cartel members all over
- 52:29Speaker 2: the streets of this town shooting at everybody, blowing up buses, shooting,
- 52:33Speaker 2: and so everybody is told they can't leave their hotel.
- 52:36Speaker 2: It's too dangerous. Even the State Department puts out an
- 52:40Speaker 2: announcement shelter in place for Americans. Tourists have been warned
- 52:44Speaker 2: to state indoors. Narco gangs cartels are on a rampage
- 52:49Speaker 2: following the death of the drug kingpin. The one person
- 52:53Speaker 2: reporting a bus was going by totally on fire. They're bombing, killing, shooting.
- 52:58Speaker 2: All of this is a nice Mexican resort town. Let's
- 53:02Speaker 2: go to Vincent and Brooklyn. Vincent, how you doing? Wait
- 53:06Speaker 2: a minute, there you go, Vincent, how you doing.
- 53:09Speaker 12: I'm okay, considering the fact that I was up until
- 53:13Speaker 12: four o'clock in the morning, trying to keep my front
- 53:15Speaker 12: door clear so I could open it. Now, I can
- 53:20Speaker 12: you hear me, Mark, Yeah, so you can open No,
- 53:23Speaker 12: I can't. I can't open up my front door. And
- 53:28Speaker 12: thank the Lord, I have enough food in my house
- 53:30Speaker 12: for the next week. I cannot open my front door.
- 53:33Speaker 12: I was up until four o'clock in the morning, going
- 53:36Speaker 12: out every hour just so I could not even just
- 53:39Speaker 12: swing it open, that's all. And now I can't. I
- 53:45Speaker 12: can't open the market. It's terrible over here.
- 53:47Speaker 2: Wow, you're like under house arrest.
- 53:49Speaker 12: Nothing personally exactly, and I have I have a steel
- 53:53Speaker 12: door of my house. I have bars on my window,
- 53:56Speaker 12: so it's like it's like I'm a prison of my
- 53:59Speaker 12: old man making him and mother Nature's making. Oh. By
- 54:03Speaker 12: the way, I want to give a plug out to
- 54:05Speaker 12: the Seacrade Radio three because that's what I was listening to.
- 54:10Speaker 12: Aside from looking at the weather. At eleven o'clock to
- 54:16Speaker 12: track the storm, I put on the weather channel on
- 54:19Speaker 12: the Seacrade radio. And it is great. It is everything
- 54:23Speaker 12: that Larry meant he says it is. The sound clarity
- 54:27Speaker 12: is wonderful. The station's coming real clear, no noise, no static.
- 54:33Speaker 12: I would recommend anybody especially, This is the perfect situation
- 54:39Speaker 12: that proves this radio's weight, you know, I mean weight involved.
- 54:45Speaker 12: Actually on the day like today, it was really it
- 54:51Speaker 12: really helped me get to No, it's great, Mark, it's great.
- 54:56Speaker 2: Vincent, thanks for calling. Great call. Yeah, as I remember
- 54:58Speaker 2: saying earlier, put the eye Heart app on your phone.
- 55:01Speaker 2: That's the best radio. If you want a physical radio,
- 55:05Speaker 2: the best one made in the world is c Crane.
- 55:07Speaker 2: They come in different sizes. I have I think I
- 55:12Speaker 2: have about six Sea Crane radios. I mean some of
- 55:15Speaker 2: them from years ago. But they never ever ever break
- 55:17Speaker 2: or where they last you forever you plug them in.
- 55:20Speaker 2: But they also can operate on batteries, so if God forbid,
- 55:23Speaker 2: lose your power, it'll still work. It is the best radio,
- 55:27Speaker 2: especially AM FM, of course. But if they want the
- 55:29Speaker 2: best AM radio made in the world, c Crane. I
- 55:33Speaker 2: think they're in Massive It's a Massachusetts company. I think.
- 55:36Speaker 2: I'm not sure, but I've been buying them for years.
- 55:37Speaker 2: Nobody no better radio than ce Crane. If you need
- 55:41Speaker 2: a radio and you worried about power out, to just
- 55:46Speaker 2: get a ce Crane radio battery you can run on
- 55:49Speaker 2: batteries and you know you can get a battery powered lamp.
- 55:52Speaker 2: You can get a battery powered heater. You get all
- 55:54Speaker 2: that kind of stuff. Just look online, you'll find it
- 55:58Speaker 2: and it's something you should have at home. Powered lamps, heaters.
- 56:02Speaker 2: You can get a little tiny portable generator if if
- 56:05Speaker 2: you're worried about power artists, you should have all that
- 56:06Speaker 2: stuff at home. You got seventeen thousand people without power
- 56:10Speaker 2: in New York, mostly Long Island. New Jersey got one
- 56:14Speaker 2: hundred and thirty seven thousand people without power, thirteen thousand
- 56:19Speaker 2: without power in Connecticut. So hey, when we come back.
- 56:22Speaker 2: John Fund, he is the great columnist. He wrote the
- 56:25Speaker 2: best book ever on elections and security. And we'll talk
- 56:28Speaker 2: to him about voter ID, all that kind of stuff,
- 56:32Speaker 2: the midterms and more. Just ahead on seven to ten, WOOR.
- 56:36Speaker 1: Give wr Brie said on the iHeartRadio app to hear
- 56:40Speaker 1: Mark Simone and all the WOOR hosts in an instance.
- 56:45Speaker 7: Now back to the Mark Simon Show on WOR.
- 56:50Speaker 2: Well, we'd like to bring you the smartest people around.
- 56:52Speaker 2: John Fund, the great columnist National Review and also the
- 56:58Speaker 2: Committee Unleashed Prosperity. Great work there, and he wrote the
- 57:01Speaker 2: best book on the subject of our elections. You've got
- 57:05Speaker 2: to get his book. It's called Our Broken Elections by
- 57:09Speaker 2: John Fund. You can get it on Amazon. John Fund,
- 57:12Speaker 2: How you doing a pleasure?
- 57:15Speaker 16: Thank you?
- 57:16Speaker 2: Hey, voter ID the fight sign.
- 57:19Speaker 16: Luckily I'm in Florida, so I don't have to sit
- 57:21Speaker 16: through your snow. But you know, I hope, I hope
- 57:24Speaker 16: your listeners are warm and at home.
- 57:26Speaker 2: You're missing all the fun here, and don't try to
- 57:29Speaker 2: get back. The airport's going to be closed for three days,
- 57:31Speaker 2: but I'm not.
- 57:33Speaker 16: I'm not due until Friday. I'll be fine.
- 57:35Speaker 2: You'll be fine. Hey, this voter I D thing, it
- 57:39Speaker 2: gets more and more and more ridiculous. Obviously you need
- 57:41Speaker 2: an ID to buy anything anywhere, to get into any
- 57:44Speaker 2: office building. H It's obviously the Democrats up to no
- 57:48Speaker 2: good with this voter ID stuff, am I right?
- 57:53Speaker 16: Well, let's look at the New York City we learned
- 57:56Speaker 16: a few years ago when Deblasio was mayor much fraud
- 58:00Speaker 16: there was in New York City elections. The Democratic appointee
- 58:05Speaker 16: to the Board of Elections for Manhattan was accosted by
- 58:08Speaker 16: James O'Keefe at a party, and he admitted how much
- 58:11Speaker 16: fraud there was in New York. He said, you know,
- 58:13Speaker 16: in buses they rent them in Chinatown, they take up
- 58:16Speaker 16: pick up the homeless, they give them packs of cigarettes,
- 58:18Speaker 16: they drive them from polling place to polling place. And
- 58:22Speaker 16: that's just one way that they do fraud. And Deblasio's
- 58:26Speaker 16: response was not to question him about the fraud, but
- 58:29Speaker 16: to fire him. He fired his own Democratic appointee to
- 58:32Speaker 16: the Board of Elections. So we know there's fraud. Now,
- 58:37Speaker 16: what does Mayor Mandami do.
- 58:39Speaker 12: Well?
- 58:40Speaker 16: The mayor says voter ID is racist. He agrees with
- 58:43Speaker 16: Chuck Schumer that it's Jim Crow two point zero. But
- 58:47Speaker 16: when he announces that the city needs emergency snow shovelers yesterday,
- 58:52Speaker 16: what does he say? It's nineteen dollars an hour, you know,
- 58:56Speaker 16: good wages, maybe not union wages, but good wages.
- 59:00Speaker 9: And you only have.
- 59:02Speaker 16: To bring five forms of ID to sign up. You
- 59:05Speaker 16: need two photos, you need two IDs and your Social
- 59:11Speaker 16: Security card and then you can snow. Then you're allowed
- 59:15Speaker 16: to shovel snow, which is of course a high security,
- 59:18Speaker 16: high impact job. So the hypocrisy here is beyond rich.
- 59:26Speaker 2: Isn't it also the most racist thing on earth for
- 59:29Speaker 2: Democrats to say, well, a black voter can't figure out
- 59:31Speaker 2: how to get an idea they wouldn't be capable of getting.
- 59:34Speaker 2: How racist is well?
- 59:36Speaker 16: The Brennan Center, which is the liberal think tank that
- 59:39Speaker 16: does these issues, say twenty five percent of African Americans
- 59:42Speaker 16: lack of a loader ID, an idea that would be
- 59:45Speaker 16: accepted at the polls. That's ridiculous. Everybody knows that. I mean,
- 59:49Speaker 16: you can't sign up for Medicare, you can't sign up
- 59:52Speaker 16: for catching a check, you can't travel, you can't do
- 59:57Speaker 16: anything with that idea today. It's preposterous to the twenty
- 59:59Speaker 16: four five percent of African Americans lack and IDA, And
- 1:00:02Speaker 16: of course African Americans think it's preposterous. If you look
- 1:00:05Speaker 16: at the polls, the most recent ones of the Washington
- 1:00:08Speaker 16: Post survey and the and the Pew Research survey, seventy
- 1:00:14Speaker 16: one percent of African Americans support photo idea at the
- 1:00:17Speaker 16: polls sixty seven percent of Hispanics and eighty percent of
- 1:00:23Speaker 16: Asian Americans. So if it's so racist, if it's so discriminatory,
- 1:00:28Speaker 16: why is it that they all of these minority groups
- 1:00:31Speaker 16: have false consciousness and believe something which isn't true.
- 1:00:37Speaker 2: Didn't Obama require photo idea to get Obamacare.
- 1:00:42Speaker 16: Well, of course you need the idea to get Obamacare.
- 1:00:44Speaker 16: You need ideed for everything. In fact, if you march
- 1:00:47Speaker 16: down to the to the city hall to get married,
- 1:00:50Speaker 16: and that's you know, marriage is a constitutional right, whether
- 1:00:53Speaker 16: it's gay or straight marriage, you've got to have an ID.
- 1:00:55Speaker 2: Yeah. Well, so what do you think will happen whill
- 1:00:58Speaker 2: we get the the federal government do something to make
- 1:01:01Speaker 2: it uniform voter ID require.
- 1:01:03Speaker 16: First of all, we don't want to follow what Joe
- 1:01:06Speaker 16: Biden did, which is he tried to nationalize the elections.
- 1:01:09Speaker 16: He tried to take away the power of the states
- 1:01:12Speaker 16: to run the elections and federalize it in Washington. We
- 1:01:15Speaker 16: don't want that. So what the law that's before the
- 1:01:18Speaker 16: Senate now it passes past the House. The law says
- 1:01:22Speaker 16: the federal government, if it's going to give money the
- 1:01:24Speaker 16: people to the states for voting machines and improving their technology,
- 1:01:29Speaker 16: in response, you have to require that the states ask
- 1:01:35Speaker 16: for a photo ID to vote the polls. And when
- 1:01:37Speaker 16: people first register they have to prove their citizenship. And
- 1:01:41Speaker 16: there are many ways to prove your citizenship. You can
- 1:01:43Speaker 16: do it with a birth certificate, which, by the way,
- 1:01:45Speaker 16: you can get online. Now you can go through almost
- 1:01:47Speaker 16: all the records and if you're less than eighty years old,
- 1:01:50Speaker 16: you're going to find your certificate online and can get
- 1:01:52Speaker 16: a copy sent to you. And look, I'll say it
- 1:01:55Speaker 16: should be free, you know. I think that everybody should
- 1:01:58Speaker 16: have access to a free ID and then they can
- 1:02:01Speaker 16: use it to vote, and you know, and that's why.
- 1:02:04Speaker 16: So it's so easy, that's why so overwhelming majorities of
- 1:02:08Speaker 16: every American demographic group supported. In fact, the last time
- 1:02:12Speaker 16: I checked it was the Washington Post survey. There were
- 1:02:15Speaker 16: forty different categories of voters and the only category which
- 1:02:19Speaker 16: voter ID did not have a majority of it had
- 1:02:22Speaker 16: a plurality support. More supported it than not. They were
- 1:02:25Speaker 16: few not sure was the extremely liberal group I call
- 1:02:28Speaker 16: those MSNBC and ms NOW voters. Other than that, everyone
- 1:02:33Speaker 16: supports voter ID.
- 1:02:36Speaker 2: So, hey, maybe maybe it's too early to ask you this, Well,
- 1:02:38Speaker 2: how does it look for the midterms? What do you
- 1:02:40Speaker 2: think happens in the midterms?
- 1:02:42Speaker 16: If the election were today, would not be good. But
- 1:02:45Speaker 16: the election is not held today. It's held in November,
- 1:02:48Speaker 16: and the economy will go through a lot of generations
- 1:02:50Speaker 16: before then. President Trump, you know, has been known to
- 1:02:54Speaker 16: pull rabbits out of hats, but you know he's gonna
- 1:02:57Speaker 16: have to be a pretty big rabbit. He has made
- 1:02:59Speaker 16: some tax tical mistakes, Mark, and unfortunately I think he
- 1:03:05Speaker 16: is anger sometimes gets ahead of his cold calculated self interest.
- 1:03:11Speaker 16: And the problem with the tariffs is this. The tariffs
- 1:03:15Speaker 16: are very, very popular with his base. Eighty seven percent
- 1:03:19Speaker 16: of Maga Republicans like the tariffs, but forty three percent
- 1:03:24Speaker 16: of non Maga Republicans support the tariffs. So there's a
- 1:03:27Speaker 16: big gap there, and there's still a lot of non
- 1:03:29Speaker 16: Maga Republicans. So here's the problem. Overall, independents hate the
- 1:03:34Speaker 16: tariffs by two to one, and they're the ones who
- 1:03:38Speaker 16: decide the election in these thirty swing house races. I
- 1:03:42Speaker 16: think the Supreme Court handed the President a gift. It
- 1:03:45Speaker 16: gives him an excuse to blame someone else for scilling
- 1:03:49Speaker 16: back the tariffs and not making them the big issue
- 1:03:52Speaker 16: in the campaign. Here's the problem we have, Mark. He's
- 1:03:55Speaker 16: imposed this new fifteen percent tariff, but it expires in
- 1:03:58Speaker 16: five months. That puts us right in the middle of
- 1:04:01Speaker 16: the fall campaign. Congress will then have to vote on
- 1:04:03Speaker 16: the tariffs to extend them, otherwise they go away immediately.
- 1:04:07Speaker 16: Trump will put pressure on the Republican congressman to vote
- 1:04:10Speaker 16: for them, but enough will not vote for them that
- 1:04:12Speaker 16: he'll go down to defeat. He'll look weak. The tariffs
- 1:04:15Speaker 16: will be the issue in the fall election. It won't
- 1:04:18Speaker 16: be ice, It'll be the tariffs. And people who worry
- 1:04:22Speaker 16: about affordability and the high price of things are going
- 1:04:24Speaker 16: to say Trump wanted tariffs, he just forced Congress to
- 1:04:27Speaker 16: vote on them. And I don't want high prices, so
- 1:04:30Speaker 16: I'm going to not vote Republican or stay home.
- 1:04:32Speaker 2: Well, now, what can he do tomorrow night, stay to
- 1:04:35Speaker 2: the union speech to fix that? Can he do something
- 1:04:37Speaker 2: tomorrow night to really miss.
- 1:04:39Speaker 16: If he wants to pull rabbit out of the hat,
- 1:04:41Speaker 16: here's the biggest rabbit he can pull right now. Everything
- 1:04:44Speaker 16: in our economy is indexed. You know your Social Security
- 1:04:48Speaker 16: payment is indexed, Your tax brackets are indexed. Everything is
- 1:04:52Speaker 16: indexed for inflation. The one thing that isn't indexed for
- 1:04:55Speaker 16: inflation is capital gains. If you buy an asset, whether
- 1:04:59Speaker 16: it's a painting, a house, a stock, it's not index
- 1:05:03Speaker 16: translation as it appreciates in value. In other words, if
- 1:05:06Speaker 16: you sell something, you're selling it at the price it
- 1:05:09Speaker 16: is today, not the price you paid for it. So
- 1:05:11Speaker 16: what the president can do, and he could do it
- 1:05:13Speaker 16: with housing, but I think he should do it with
- 1:05:15Speaker 16: the economy as a whole. He should say, if you
- 1:05:18Speaker 16: sell something, you're going to pay the capital gains on
- 1:05:22Speaker 16: the original price, not the price you settle down. This
- 1:05:24Speaker 16: will unlock housing all over the country. There are people
- 1:05:27Speaker 16: sitting in houses Mark that aren't selling because they don't
- 1:05:30Speaker 16: want to pay the capital gains because there's your housing
- 1:05:34Speaker 16: exemption goes away after a while. If he did that,
- 1:05:36Speaker 16: that would be turbo charging the economy. Secretary of State, Treasury,
- 1:05:40Speaker 16: Secretary's Treasury vest and has done the numbers. Would turbo
- 1:05:43Speaker 16: charge the economy would have a rush of GDP growth
- 1:05:47Speaker 16: and people would be freed up. They could get they
- 1:05:50Speaker 16: could change assets, they could buy new assets. It would
- 1:05:53Speaker 16: be a boon and it would be a political winner.
- 1:05:56Speaker 2: Wow. Good stuff. Well, John Fund brilliant as always. Get
- 1:05:59Speaker 2: his book Are Broken Elections. That's an excellent book. You
- 1:06:03Speaker 2: should read it and read his columns of course. And

- 1:07:01Speaker 2: more streets. You can see more of the street. A
- 1:07:03Speaker 2: lot of stuff looks closed out there. There are people
- 1:07:05Speaker 2: walking around. Subways are running, not every single line, and
- 1:07:10Speaker 2: many of the lines have delays or some expresses now
- 1:07:14Speaker 2: locals that sort of stuff. Metro North is doing pretty well.

- 1:07:28Speaker 2: and it's gonna they say, the airports will not get
- 1:07:31Speaker 2: back to normal till Wednesday. Bridges are still closed now
- 1:07:34Speaker 2: that's mostly the winds. You can shovel the snow on
- 1:07:37Speaker 2: the bridge, but it's the winds that causes the closure,
- 1:07:40Speaker 2: and the winds are dying down. They were up to
- 1:07:43Speaker 2: eighty miles an hour in some places. Now it sounds
- 1:07:46Speaker 2: like thirty twenty. Still snowing, but it's very light snow now,
- 1:07:50Speaker 2: and it'll all wrap up about five thirty or six
- 1:07:52Speaker 2: and that'll be the end of it. Gonna be a
