- 2:30Speaker 7: the weekend. Well, we're back up and rocking. Not at
- 2:33Speaker 7: complete full power, but maybe we'll be there. We may
- 2:37Speaker 7: have a power boost here by the end of the month.
- 2:39Speaker 3: Not this month, next month. We'll see. We'll see how
- 2:43Speaker 3: that goes. But anyway, welcome to the program.
- 2:46Speaker 10: All right.
- 2:47Speaker 3: So very sad update.
- 2:48Speaker 7: In fact, I can announce it, but I'm going to
- 2:50Speaker 7: let Dolly Parton's nephew, Brian Seaver. This was the announcement
- 2:54Speaker 7: posted to her Twitter X account earlier today. And I
- 2:58Speaker 7: think it's only appropriate to let him do the honors
- 3:02Speaker 7: as they will, because it's a very sad day.
- 3:04Speaker 3: Hey, everyone.
- 3:05Speaker 11: My name is Brian Seaver, son of Cassie Parton, and
- 3:09Speaker 11: I'm representing the Parton and Owens family today. announcing the
- 3:12Speaker 11: passing of my Aunt Dolly Rebecca Parton Dean. Sister, sis,
- 3:17Speaker 11: Aunt Granny to one generation and Gigi to the next.
- 3:21Speaker 11: This video announcement is something Dolly asked of me years ago.
- 3:24Speaker 3: Before I fully absorbed it as a future reality.
- 3:27Speaker 11: As her head of security for more than two decades,
- 3:29Speaker 11: a role my father Larry held before me, I have
- 3:32Speaker 11: imagined the heaviness of this moment but haven't truly felt
- 3:35Speaker 11: it until now. It is an honor, an honor that
- 3:38Speaker 11: is mixed with absolute pride and great sadness.
- 3:41Speaker 4: But sadness lies with us, not with Dolly.
- 3:44Speaker 11: Dolly has lived in the light and is in the
- 3:46Speaker 11: arms of Jesus, surely met by Carl, her parents, and
- 3:50Speaker 11: countless others who.
- 3:51Speaker 3: Have watched her and longed for her to meet them
- 3:53Speaker 3: in the heavens.
- 3:54Speaker 11: I first went on the road with Dolly as a kid,
- 3:57Speaker 11: getting a taste of the road life in the early 1980s.
- 4:00Speaker 11: Dolly opened doors not just for me, but for her
- 4:03Speaker 11: entire family to reach the potential we didn't even know
- 4:05Speaker 11: was possible. Dolly also opened doors for generations of singers, songwriters, musicians,
- 4:11Speaker 11: and dreamers from every walk of life and across every continent.
- 4:15Speaker 11: By her example, we believed that anything was possible. She
- 4:19Speaker 11: never saw a door she couldn't open, and the door
- 4:21Speaker 11: she opened made and changed history. My family and I
- 4:25Speaker 11: have shared a lifetime of beautiful memories with Dolly, but
- 4:29Speaker 11: so have you. She has always been on your television,
- 4:32Speaker 11: your record player, your CD, and on your phone playlist,
- 4:36Speaker 11: becoming an extended part of your family whether you liked
- 4:38Speaker 11: it or not.
- 4:39Speaker 3: Our family and the.
- 4:40Speaker 11: Team she has entrusted with her legacy will work diligently
- 4:43Speaker 11: to ensure her spirit will live with us forever. Dolly
- 4:47Speaker 11: was a farmer, just like her daddy. He farmed the soil,
- 4:51Speaker 11: she farmed songs and happiness. Dolly called me and said
- 4:54Speaker 11: she wants to rest in a beautiful bed of plush
- 4:56Speaker 11: cotton because after a life wearing heavy rhinestones, she finally
- 5:00Speaker 11: deserves to be comfortable and have some rest. Rest in peace,
- 5:04Speaker 11: Aunt Dolly, Aunt Granny, Gigi. May God bless Dolly Parton,
- 5:09Speaker 11: and may God bless you all. She will always love you.
- 5:12Speaker 3: I mean, I don't think that you could have ended
- 5:14Speaker 3: it any better. A song that she, man, made famous,
- 5:18Speaker 3: and then it hit number one, I think, three times.
- 5:21Speaker 3: her version and another you know Whitney Houston who's passed
- 5:24Speaker 3: on as well and then her version again so Dolly
- 5:29Speaker 3: Parton has passed away the age of 80 she was
- 5:31Speaker 3: extremely talented it may have been overshadowed a little bit
- 5:37Speaker 3: by her sense of humor and she in many ways
- 5:40Speaker 3: she played a caricature of herself but she was so
- 5:43Speaker 3: damn talented so good and by the way um as
- 5:46Speaker 3: far as the uh The streams or whatever, they can
- 5:50Speaker 3: be damned today because I'm going to play some Dolly
- 5:52Speaker 3: because we have to. Now, realize I'm not even a
- 5:55Speaker 3: country music fan. I've listened to it growing up.
- 5:58Speaker 7: I think we saw Dolly Parton at the Houston Livestock
- 6:01Speaker 7: Show and Rodeo probably two or three times as kids.
- 6:05Speaker 7: I remember our parents taking us. So Dolly Parton has
- 6:10Speaker 7: been a national treasure. I've said it on the program
- 6:12Speaker 7: in the past, and I mean it. Like I said,
- 6:16Speaker 7: she was very talented, but she was also very showy.
- 6:19Speaker 7: She always never shied away from how much plastic surgery
- 6:22Speaker 7: she had done. But she was so good-natured and was
- 6:26Speaker 7: such a kind person. And I think the world could
- 6:29Speaker 7: use a little bit more of that kindness because things
- 6:31Speaker 7: have gotten exponentially, would you say, less kind over the years.
- 6:37Speaker 7: But I've always loved Dolly Parton. Like I said, first
- 6:40Speaker 7: of all, her talent. It's hard unless you're a musician
- 6:43Speaker 7: to truly recognize.
- 6:45Speaker 3: How talented she was.
- 6:46Speaker 7: But then again, if you're a Dolly Parton fan, you
- 6:48Speaker 7: recognize how amazing her music was and how fantastic it is.
- 6:53Speaker 3: And like I said, I love Dolly. We're going to
- 6:54Speaker 3: miss her for sure.
- 6:56Speaker 7: Fortunately, she's left a just a volume of music for
- 7:01Speaker 7: people to enjoy and to remember the way she was.
- 7:03Speaker 3: But she was a talented actress, too.
- 7:05Speaker 7: People forgot she was in The Best Little Whorehouse in
- 7:07Speaker 7: Texas and 9 to 5. You guys remember that one?
- 7:11Speaker 7: That was a great movie. And it's a great song, too.
- 7:14Speaker 3: It was a big hit. I remember that as a kid.
- 7:16Speaker 7: I will always remember her as an amazing singer because
- 7:21Speaker 7: she was a fantastic singer, amazing songwriter and performer. She
- 7:25Speaker 7: played guitar very well and was one of the sweetest
- 7:28Speaker 7: ladies in show business. How will you remember Dolly Parton?
- 7:35Speaker 3: 281-558-5738.
- 7:37Speaker 7: That's 281-558-KSCV. If you want to join us, you want
- 7:42Speaker 7: to weigh in on, because like I said, I know
- 7:44Speaker 7: a lot of people in our generation and really the
- 7:46Speaker 7: generation above me have been, like I said, are very
- 7:50Speaker 7: familiar with Dolly Parton and what she's done. I know
- 7:53Speaker 7: that she had announced here lately that she had been
- 7:56Speaker 7: dealing with some health issues, but She said there was
- 7:59Speaker 7: more things that she wanted to achieve and wanted to do,
- 8:02Speaker 7: and she wasn't gone yet, but clearly her health didn't
- 8:05Speaker 7: get better. And then the video was posted by her nephew,
- 8:10Speaker 7: Brian Seaver, who had taken over her security from his dad.
- 8:15Speaker 7: But you go look at Dollywood and all of the
- 8:17Speaker 7: things that she's achieved and all of the greatness. And
- 8:20Speaker 7: I'm going to play songs, and probably not the whole song,
- 8:22Speaker 7: but I'm going to play a lot of it.
- 8:24Speaker 3: And one of them, like I.
- 8:25Speaker 7: Said, she did an album, sort of a rock album,
- 8:28Speaker 7: I think she got inducted in the Rock and Roll
- 8:30Speaker 7: Hall of Fame, which is crazy because she's not a rocker.
- 8:34Speaker 7: She was a country music singer, and she was amazing.
- 8:36Speaker 3: And I don't know.
- 8:37Speaker 7: I imagine she's, in fact, while Luke Cash is downloading
- 8:42Speaker 7: that app, he can also go look up, see if
- 8:44Speaker 7: she had already been inducted in the Country Music Hall
- 8:47Speaker 7: of Fame. Probably should be in the Songwriting Hall of
- 8:50Speaker 7: Fame as well. But she's had so many hits. I mean,
- 8:57Speaker 7: she's been cranking the hits for probably 60 years.
- 9:00Speaker 3: 50-plus years at least. So her legend's going to live on.
- 9:06Speaker 7: He mentioned that Dolly Parton, there's a musical, a stage
- 9:10Speaker 7: musical is going to open in New York City in December.
- 9:13Speaker 7: And he said he mentioned she's going to want to,
- 9:17Speaker 7: you know, I guess be buried, her coffin, I guess,
- 9:20Speaker 7: is buried. In cotton because she's been wearing those heavy
- 9:23Speaker 7: rhinestones for years. She deserves to be comfortable. Yeah, she
- 9:26Speaker 7: was always done up very well. She always wore wigs.
- 9:29Speaker 7: For those who didn't know, she did that. President Trump
- 9:33Speaker 7: has announced that in her honor that he's ordering the
- 9:37Speaker 7: American flag to be lowered for one week.
- 9:41Speaker 3: I agree with that.
- 9:43Speaker 7: Like I said, I'm not even close to a big
- 9:46Speaker 7: Dolly Parton fan, but this makes me sad. She's another one,
- 9:50Speaker 7: much like Frank Beard. the drummer for ZZ Top, who
- 9:54Speaker 7: we lost last week. Now we have somebody who even
- 9:57Speaker 7: probably affected... far more audiences. And don't get me wrong,
- 10:02Speaker 7: I'm not trying to sell ZZ Top short. But Dolly
- 10:05Speaker 7: Parton was incredible. So I'm going to play some of
- 10:08Speaker 7: her music and stuff.
- 10:09Speaker 3: We'll do that here in a minute.
- 10:10Speaker 7: The Supreme Court has lifted a judge's block on President
- 10:13Speaker 7: Trump's executive order, adding to mail-in voter requirements, removing this
- 10:18Speaker 7: roadblock that prevented the policy from going into effect in
- 10:21Speaker 7: the midterms. So Trump just got another big win at
- 10:24Speaker 7: the Supreme Court.
- 10:25Speaker 3: And then I.
- 10:26Speaker 7: Heard he was talking about doing the renovations on the
- 10:28Speaker 7: Kennedy Center, and they're fighting him on that. The Democrats
- 10:32Speaker 7: are obviously fighting him on everything. And he said, if
- 10:34Speaker 7: you don't let me mention if he can't do renovations,
- 10:38Speaker 7: he's going to tear it down. Apparently, it's very old
- 10:41Speaker 7: and dated. So, of course, they're going to be ridiculous.
- 10:45Speaker 7: Canada has announced retaliatory tariffs against the U.S. on Tuesday,
- 10:50Speaker 7: matching dollar for dollar the tariffs imposed by President Trump
- 10:53Speaker 7: on Saturday after the two sides failed to reach an agreement.
- 10:57Speaker 7: Isn't it funny how Canada can go and just issue
- 10:59Speaker 7: tariffs and they already had tariffs on it? And if
- 11:01Speaker 7: we try to do tariffs to offset tariffs, they'll issue
- 11:04Speaker 7: more tariffs and then we'll get shut down by our
- 11:06Speaker 7: Supreme Court.
- 11:07Speaker 3: And they say we can't do tariffs while they just
- 11:09Speaker 3: continue to. Stupid.
- 11:12Speaker 7: State Representative and current U.S. Senate candidate James Talafreakjo has
- 11:21Speaker 7: actually filed a bill to place diversity, equity, and inclusion
- 11:25Speaker 7: officers at every large public school district in the state
- 11:30Speaker 7: of Texas. as Governor Abbott works to get rid of
- 11:34Speaker 7: that diversity, equity, inclusion, basically hiring non-qualified people and putting
- 11:40Speaker 7: them in jobs, kind of what James Talafrico does, no
- 11:43Speaker 7: one's really sure exactly what he does. We know that
- 11:47Speaker 7: he lives off more than his, what is it, $ 6, 000, $ 7, 000
- 11:50Speaker 7: salary he gets in the statehouse.
- 11:53Speaker 3: But clearly he lives better than that.
- 11:56Speaker 7: But he has some sort of DEI job to where
- 11:58Speaker 7: that's what he does, I guess.
- 12:00Speaker 3: He does DEI.
- 12:02Speaker 7: Which is ridiculous, because he's a cracker white boy, as
- 12:05Speaker 7: cracker as can be. And then the WNBA has finally
- 12:10Speaker 7: issued a ruling on whether quote-unquote men.
- 12:13Speaker 3: Can play at the league.
- 12:18Speaker 7: After weeks of meetings, statements, outrage, apparent difficulty in answering
- 12:22Speaker 7: one of the oldest questions in human biology, the WNBA
- 12:26Speaker 7: has reported that former NBA players Ennis Cantor Freedom and
- 12:29Speaker 7: Royce White are not eligible to play in the women's league.
- 12:35Speaker 7: So apparently now, according to OutKick, the way they put it,
- 12:37Speaker 7: we applaud the WNBA's sudden ability to define a woman.
- 12:41Speaker 7: Now they're going to have to go back and find
- 12:43Speaker 7: out if there maybe already are.
- 12:46Speaker 3: Some men playing In the league.
- 12:49Speaker 7: Anyway, okay, so as we kick things off here on
- 12:51Speaker 7: the program, by the way, I saw that our videos
- 12:53Speaker 7: are up now.
- 12:54Speaker 12: I guess.
- 12:54Speaker 3: Yes, sir. Okay, that's what they're saying. Let me go look.
- 12:57Speaker 7: I'm going to go look at the Twitter X world.
- 13:00Speaker 3: The Twitter X thing. I don't see it on Twitter X,
- 13:05Speaker 3: so I don't know if we're... All right, I'm on it.
- 13:09Speaker 7: So Cash O'Lean has his hands full. I think him
- 13:11Speaker 7: and Phil are trying to get things lined up with
- 13:14Speaker 7: the interwebs. There was some clipping on yesterday's show. I
- 13:16Speaker 7: noticed first I thought it was my internet, but I'm
- 13:18Speaker 7: thinking maybe it was both.
- 13:22Speaker 3: Maybe both.
- 13:23Speaker 7: Anyway, so once again, I'm a big fan of Dolly
- 13:25Speaker 7: Parton and her version of Shine. I'm going to play
- 13:28Speaker 7: this and we'll talk over a little bit. But she
- 13:30Speaker 7: did a version of Collective Soul's song Shine, which I
- 13:33Speaker 7: love that song, by the way, from Collective Soul. very
- 13:37Speaker 7: 90s well she did a few and of these 90s
- 13:39Speaker 7: songs and rock songs and this is one of them
- 13:43Speaker 7: and did an amazing job.
- 13:44Speaker 3: I think this was in the last 15 years.
- 13:54Speaker 13: Lay me on the ground, fly me in the sky.
- 13:57Speaker 10: Show me where to look and tell.
- 13:59Speaker 3: Me what I will abide. What I will abide. This
- 14:09Speaker 3: is an amazing version. Oh, heaven let your light shine down.
- 14:15Speaker 3: I love how they threw that country harmony on there.
- 14:19Speaker 3: Heaven let your light shine. Kind of fiddle on it.
- 14:24Speaker 3: And then, of course, banjo, country staples.
- 14:28Speaker 7: Generally, I'm not into this, but when you're doing a
- 14:31Speaker 7: song like this, it's amazing.
- 14:34Speaker 3: Love is in the water, love is in the air.
- 14:37Speaker 2: Show me where to go and tell me.
- 14:39Speaker 13: Will love be there. Will love be there.
- 14:44Speaker 3: She just sings it so pure.
- 14:46Speaker 11: Teach me how to speak, teach.
- 14:47Speaker 13: Me how to share.
- 14:49Speaker 3: Teach me where to go and tell me will love
- 14:51Speaker 3: be there. That she made this song great. And it's
- 14:58Speaker 3: already a great song. Great. I've sang this song many times.
- 15:15Speaker 3: Not this version. This is incredible, the little breakdown they do.
- 15:26Speaker 7: And like I said, her talent is going to be missed.
- 15:35Speaker 3: So I'll kind of work my way backwards. Give me
- 15:38Speaker 3: a word, give me a sign.
- 15:39Speaker 2: Show me where to look and tell me what.
- 15:42Speaker 14: Will I find.
- 15:42Speaker 15: What will I find?
- 15:47Speaker 3: Lord, teach me how to speak.
- 15:49Speaker 10: Teach me how to share.
- 15:51Speaker 13: Teach me where to go and tell me will love
- 15:54Speaker 13: be there.
- 15:55Speaker 3: It's so good. Will love be there.
- 15:59Speaker 13: Oh, heaven let your light shine down.
- 16:07Speaker 15: Oh, heaven let your light shine down.
- 16:18Speaker 3: Like I said, she did such an amazing song.
- 16:21Speaker 7: To take this song, turn it into country, and make
- 16:23Speaker 7: it hers, and make it great.
- 16:31Speaker 3: And one thing I'll never forget is.
- 16:33Speaker 5: She.
- 16:37Speaker 7: Said she lived in the light. And I think Dolly
- 16:55Speaker 7: is looking down upon us now. And I'll never get
- 16:58Speaker 7: how much my parents, my mom, and my dad love
- 17:00Speaker 7: Dolly Parton. She's so talented. And I'll be playing some songs.
- 17:09Speaker 7: I'll work my way back, I guess. That's, to me,
- 17:11Speaker 7: the latest. But, I mean, she's got some great songs.
- 17:15Speaker 3: Some amazing songs. And, like I said, she was generally
- 17:19Speaker 3: the songwriter. She didn't do generally covers. She was a songwriter,
- 17:23Speaker 3: did stuff with Kenny Rogers. He's gone.
- 17:26Speaker 7: Was it Conway Twitty? Or some people say Kanye Twitty.
- 17:30Speaker 7: That's an internet meme joke. But Conway Twitty, I guess
- 17:34Speaker 7: it was him. Then she did, what was it? It
- 17:36Speaker 7: was the show. Like I said, so talented. Television, radio, singer, songwriter,
- 17:45Speaker 7: guitar player. You ever watch her play guitar?
- 17:48Speaker 3: Now you want to know an insider trick.
- 17:51Speaker 7: A lot of times, I don't know if always, but
- 17:53Speaker 7: she had the guitar tuned O to open E. That's
- 17:56Speaker 7: how she could play with those long nails. So she
- 17:58Speaker 7: could just sit there and borrow the chords, but she
- 18:01Speaker 7: played it flawlessly. You have to be good to do that.
- 18:05Speaker 7: She was very talented. How will you remember Dolly Parton?
- 18:09Speaker 7: She's passed away at the age of 80.
- 18:13Speaker 3: 281-558-KSEV.
- 18:17Speaker 15: 281-558-5738.
- 18:17Speaker 7: I'd be remiss if we didn't start off and at
- 18:19Speaker 7: least dedicate an entire segment to Dolly.
- 18:22Speaker 3: So I'm glad we're able to at least do that.
- 18:24Speaker 3: Because once again, just... We're losing the old greats. Like
- 18:30Speaker 3: I said, she passed away at the age of 80.
- 18:31Speaker 3: She lost her husband. Was it Dean? I think it
- 18:34Speaker 3: was his last name.
- 18:36Speaker 7: Anyway, her husband passed away not too long ago.
- 18:39Speaker 3: Within the last couple years, I do believe. And then,
- 18:42Speaker 3: like I said, now she's passed at the age of 80.
- 18:44Speaker 7: Once again, when people start getting in their 80s, that's
- 18:46Speaker 7: why it's so incredible that Mick Jagger and Keith Richards
- 18:51Speaker 7: are still kicking it in their 80s. They're still rocking
- 18:54Speaker 7: and rolling, which is amazing. And then you look at
- 18:56Speaker 7: someone like Donald Trump, who's, I think he's 80 now.
- 19:01Speaker 7: But that's the thing. When you get in your 80s,
- 19:04Speaker 7: if you pass away, it's natural causes. I mean, that's
- 19:09Speaker 7: the If you live past 80, you've already accomplished something amazing.
- 19:13Speaker 7: And if you make it into your 90s, it's incredible.
- 19:15Speaker 7: That's why certain people, when they make it into their 100s,
- 19:18Speaker 7: but some people have those genetics. So thank God we
- 19:22Speaker 7: got at least 80 years of Dolly Parton, and we'll
- 19:25Speaker 7: always have her music.
- 19:25Speaker 3: All right, let's take a break.
- 19:26Speaker 7: You're listening to Chris X Radio. We're just getting started.
- 19:30Speaker 7: So if you want to join us, 281-558-KSEV. How will
- 19:34Speaker 7: you remember Dolly Parton?
- 19:35Speaker 3: Were you a fan?
- 19:35Speaker 7: I think a lot of our listeners were fans. I was,
- 19:39Speaker 7: like I said, I wouldn't call it a peripheral fan.
- 19:42Speaker 7: I don't own any of her albums or anything. But
- 19:45Speaker 7: I always respected her music and her ability as a songwriter, singer, performer.
- 19:51Speaker 7: All right, 281-558-KSV. Listening to Chris X Radio. We're just

- 22:09Speaker 18: tracking charts and reminding us to be prepared for big storms.
- 22:12Speaker 18: But they overlook one very important thing, the damage and
- 22:15Speaker 18: destruction from broken limbs and uprooted trees. Call Louis Flory
- 22:18Speaker 18: at Ability Tree Experts today. My friend for nearly 40 years.
- 22:23Speaker 18: At 281-441-4179 and let him explain how this problem can
- 22:27Speaker 18: be minimized with professional pruning. You see, when the tree
- 22:31Speaker 18: canopy is too thick and dense, the tree can be
- 22:33Speaker 18: completely blown over. and tree limbs broken, causing terrible damage
- 22:37Speaker 18: to the tree and maybe your home. Where tree limbs break,
- 22:41Speaker 18: sap will ooze, and that attracts harmful insects. So you

- 23:06Speaker 2: The Voice of Texas. The Voice of Reason. Chris X Radio.
- 23:29Speaker 3: Welcome back to Chris X Radio. I'm the aforementioned X-Man.
- 23:32Speaker 7: Glad to have you here with us as we're rocking
- 23:34Speaker 7: your Taco Tuesday edition of the program.
- 23:38Speaker 3: We actually got a lot to get into, and.
- 23:39Speaker 7: We will, but I would be remiss if we don't
- 23:42Speaker 7: talk and remember that in which it was Dolly Parton.
- 23:46Speaker 3: She has passed away at the age of 80. And
- 23:48Speaker 3: I saw.
- 23:48Speaker 7: It covering on the news, the local and network news.
- 23:52Speaker 7: She was extremely talented and has been a national treasure.
- 23:55Speaker 7: And like I said, those who are Those who were
- 23:57Speaker 7: raised in at least the 70s and 80s like me,
- 24:01Speaker 7: you know, we used to go to the Houston Livestock
- 24:03Speaker 7: Show and Rodeo multiple times every year. So I remember
- 24:07Speaker 7: as a small kid going and seeing Dolly Parton. I
- 24:10Speaker 7: think at one time I think it was Dolly Parton
- 24:12Speaker 7: and Kenny Rogers because they used to do things together.
- 24:16Speaker 7: So I think they had a TV show together. So
- 24:21Speaker 7: but he passed away a few years back. And then
- 24:24Speaker 7: Dolly Parton just passed away at the age of 80,
- 24:26Speaker 7: I guess, maybe today or yesterday. Her nephew made the announcement,
- 24:30Speaker 7: Brian Seaver, on their Twitter X page.
- 24:35Speaker 3: Having lost both my parents, this is almost like losing
- 24:38Speaker 3: a parent.
- 24:40Speaker 7: Dolly Parton has been, I've known Dolly Parton since I
- 24:43Speaker 7: was old enough to know anything. Because both my parents
- 24:46Speaker 7: loved her music. They were big country western music fans.
- 24:49Speaker 7: So they loved Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers and you
- 24:52Speaker 7: name it.
- 24:54Speaker 3: But once again, and Dolly was so talented.
- 24:57Speaker 7: Like I said, I would call her a national treasure
- 24:59Speaker 7: because she was so talented musically and such a good songwriter.
- 25:03Speaker 7: And I'll play some songs from her today. I've already
- 25:05Speaker 7: played one. I'll play more here as the show goes on.
- 25:08Speaker 7: But I want to know what you guys think. How
- 25:10Speaker 7: do you feel about it? How will you remember Dolly Parton?
- 25:13Speaker 3: 281-558-KSEV, 281-558-KSEV.
- 25:17Speaker 13: 558-5738.
- 25:18Speaker 7: I'm going to remember her as an amazing singer, songwriter, performer,
- 25:23Speaker 7: and one of the sweetest ladies in show business. Never
- 25:25Speaker 7: did you ever hear a bad word about Dolly Parton.
- 25:29Speaker 12: Never.
- 25:30Speaker 7: It was always good things. She was always working to
- 25:33Speaker 7: do good things for people and helping the world could
- 25:35Speaker 7: use a little bit more kindness.
- 25:38Speaker 3: All right, 281-558-KSV. Let's go to the phones.
- 25:40Speaker 7: Pick up with Michael, who's patiently holding in Woodsville. Michael,
- 25:43Speaker 7: thank you for hanging on. Welcome to Chris X Radio.
- 25:48Speaker 1: I went to South Valley Park when I was 12
- 25:51Speaker 1: years old. I'm 72. So she was 20. And she
- 25:59Speaker 1: came to Beaumont. And she was with Porter Wagner.
- 26:04Speaker 3: Porter Wagner. That's right.
- 26:07Speaker 1: He's the one that got her started. And she wrote
- 26:12Speaker 1: a song when she cut ties with him. And I
- 26:18Speaker 1: forgot the name of the song, but it was See
- 26:20Speaker 1: You Later. Are you kidding me?
- 26:22Speaker 3: Hold on. No, no, no, no, no. The song was
- 26:26Speaker 3: entitled See You Later. It was called I Will Always
- 26:28Speaker 3: Love You. That is a three-time number one hit, twice
- 26:32Speaker 3: by her and once.
- 26:33Speaker 7: By Whitney Houston. That was the song she wrote. In fact,
- 26:39Speaker 7: the other thing, Michael, I didn't know this. I learned
- 26:41Speaker 7: this here recently. When she split up with Porter Wagner
- 26:44Speaker 7: and went on her own, Porter Wagner tried to sue her.
- 26:47Speaker 3: Saying that he was going to kill his show.
- 26:50Speaker 7: And Dolly Parton literally gave him all of her money, everything.
- 26:55Speaker 3: Said, here, you can have it. You can take it.
- 26:58Speaker 3: I can always earn more money. Take this money. And
- 27:01Speaker 3: he ended up, I think he withdrew the lawsuit. I
- 27:04Speaker 3: don't remember.
- 27:05Speaker 7: But she gave him everything when she left, only to
- 27:09Speaker 7: go back and then generate it a million times over.
- 27:13Speaker 7: So talk about an amazing person. And that was who
- 27:15Speaker 7: I couldn't remember. It was Porter Wagner. So I'm glad
- 27:18Speaker 7: you remember that.
- 27:19Speaker 3: And like I said, she's been– I guess what– did
- 27:22Speaker 3: she make it big like in her late teens, early 20s?
- 27:27Speaker 1: Yeah, when she was 18 years old, that's when Porter
- 27:30Speaker 1: started helping her. Yeah, I guess that was– But I
- 27:35Speaker 1: don't know when the song was, you know, you said
- 27:39Speaker 1: the name of it.
- 27:40Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 27:41Speaker 3: No, it was later. Like I said, it was after
- 27:43Speaker 3: they split up. So, yeah, thank you for the call.
- 27:46Speaker 2: That's good.
- 27:49Speaker 1: There's a movie that she did or somebody did about
- 27:53Speaker 1: her life when she was young, when she was a kid.
- 27:56Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 27:57Speaker 2: Starting out.
- 28:01Speaker 1: I don't know who the little girl was, but she
- 28:03Speaker 1: really played a good part for Dolly. A little girl
- 28:07Speaker 1: played her part.
- 28:08Speaker 3: Yeah, and Dolly had like a cameo in the movie.
- 28:11Speaker 3: And Dolly played.
- 28:13Speaker 19: Yeah, sure did.
- 28:15Speaker 3: It's a holiday movie. I've seen it. And it's based
- 28:17Speaker 3: loosely on Dolly Parton's life.
- 28:19Speaker 7: In fact, Dolly Parton played the woman that Dolly Parton
- 28:23Speaker 7: modeled herself after, the one that was all dressed up,
- 28:25Speaker 7: who was from all reports that she was the lady
- 28:28Speaker 7: of the evening. But she was dressed up with the
- 28:30Speaker 7: wig and all the makeup and had all of the
- 28:32Speaker 7: jewelry and everything on. And the girl, you know, as
- 28:35Speaker 7: Dolly is a small child coming from a very poor family.
- 28:38Speaker 7: They were extremely poor. She thought that woman was the
- 28:41Speaker 7: most beautiful woman in the world. And Dolly actually played
- 28:44Speaker 7: that woman in the movie.
- 28:45Speaker 3: Which is great. Thank you for the call, Michael. I
- 28:47Speaker 3: appreciate it.
- 28:48Speaker 7: I'm glad you brought that up because people don't quite
- 28:50Speaker 7: realize that that was a movie. Once again, loosely made,
- 28:53Speaker 7: I could probably look it up, but if I believe,
- 28:56Speaker 7: remember correctly, it was a holiday film and the little
- 28:58Speaker 7: girl did a good job. And she, you know, like
- 29:01Speaker 7: I said, it was this woman that who was very
- 29:03Speaker 7: kind to Dolly and it obviously left a huge impression
- 29:05Speaker 7: on But then you had Dolly Parton, who was extremely talented.
- 29:10Speaker 3: And then, of course, she starred in other movies. You
- 29:12Speaker 3: may have heard of this one. There was one that
- 29:13Speaker 3: she played in. I don't know. I guess just about
- 29:16Speaker 3: everybody could possibly relate to. Oh, you guys remember this one?
- 29:20Speaker 7: This was huge when it came out. Was this early
- 29:23Speaker 7: 80s or late 70s? I'll play a little bit of
- 29:26Speaker 7: it before we.
- 29:27Speaker 15: Have to break.
- 29:28Speaker 13: I remember every word and I haven't listened to this
- 29:30Speaker 13: song in 40 years. see this kind of stuff was
- 29:48Speaker 13: once again relating to the average.
- 29:52Speaker 3: Person And it was great.
- 30:11Speaker 7: The movie they did for the movie was her, had
- 30:14Speaker 7: Lily Tomlin in it, Dabney Coleman, a bunch of people.
- 30:19Speaker 7: I think Lily Tomlin is still with us. I think
- 30:20Speaker 7: she's very old. But Dabney Coleman is passed on. I
- 30:24Speaker 7: can't remember who else was in it. But the movie
- 30:26Speaker 7: was based around this song that she wrote. I got
- 30:30Speaker 7: some more Dolly Parton. I'll play some more songs here
- 30:32Speaker 7: as the show goes on. But anyone who was in
- 30:34Speaker 7: the 80s knew what a big hit that movie and
- 30:37Speaker 7: that song was.
- 30:38Speaker 3: Just another one of her hits. Oh, oh, no, no.
- 30:41Speaker 3: She's not.
- 30:41Speaker 7: There's not enough time in this radio program to play
- 30:44Speaker 7: all the hits that Dolly Parton has had. And as
- 30:48Speaker 7: you just mentioned, I was going to play I Will
- 30:49Speaker 7: Always Love You. Maybe I'll do that in the next segment.
- 30:52Speaker 7: Let's go ahead and take a break. You're listening to
- 30:53Speaker 7: Chris X Radio. Once again, we're remembering Dolly Parton today. I'm...
- 31:00Speaker 7: I'm kind of tired of this. I don't like playing these,
- 31:02Speaker 7: doing these shows where all we're doing is talking about
- 31:04Speaker 7: the passing of some, you know, generational talent, but it's,
- 31:10Speaker 7: I would literally feel terrible if I didn't talk about
- 31:13Speaker 7: Dolly Parton and the impact she's had, not only on
- 31:15Speaker 7: pop culture, culture in general. And then of course my
- 31:19Speaker 7: life with my parents and stuff, I like said, they
- 31:21Speaker 7: loved Dolly Parton and I'm an old school rocker. I've
- 31:25Speaker 7: been jamming to rock and roll since I was seven
- 31:27Speaker 7: years old, probably five years old. But I heard Dolly Parton,
- 31:31Speaker 7: and I liked her music, which says a lot for
- 31:34Speaker 7: her talent. And she was amazing. And she has passed
- 31:36Speaker 7: away at the age of 80. How do you remember
- 31:38Speaker 7: Dolly Parton? 281-558-KSCV, 281-558-5738. Thanks for the call. Always good
- 31:45Speaker 7: to hear from you out in Woodville, Michael. And we'll
- 31:47Speaker 7: take a break and get more of your calls here
- 31:48Speaker 7: on the other side.
- 31:49Speaker 3: We'll be right back.
- 31:54Speaker 2: The revolution continues after this. Chris X Radio.

- 35:09Speaker 2: Chris X Radio.
- 35:36Speaker 3: And anyone who knows.
- 35:37Speaker 7: Me knows this is far more my style. 90s and
- 35:41Speaker 7: 80s and 70s rock. But today we honor the queen
- 35:46Speaker 7: of country. I don't know if that was any title
- 35:49Speaker 7: they ever gave her, but she was definitely the queen
- 35:52Speaker 7: of country music. Dolly Parton has passed away at the
- 35:55Speaker 7: age of 80. Very talented lady.
- 35:58Speaker 3: I can't reiterate this enough.
- 35:59Speaker 7: It's funny, I'm watching on my social medias all of
- 36:03Speaker 7: the musicians that I know. These are guys that are
- 36:05Speaker 7: really talented musicians are all posting about Dolly Parton. Because
- 36:10Speaker 7: even though I know the people who loved her music
- 36:12Speaker 7: understood that talent, but there was levels of talent there
- 36:15Speaker 7: that a lot of people had no idea. How talented
- 36:18Speaker 7: of a songwriter she is. How talented of a musician
- 36:20Speaker 7: she is.
- 36:21Speaker 3: And then, of course, performer.
- 36:23Speaker 7: I remember she wrote a song at one point on
- 36:27Speaker 7: the Johnny Carson show because he went on there regularly.
- 36:30Speaker 7: So she wrote a song about Johnny Carson, performed it live,
- 36:34Speaker 7: just heard an acoustic guitar singing on the show.
- 36:36Speaker 3: It was incredible.
- 36:38Speaker 7: There's so many great songs by Dolly Parton that there's
- 36:43Speaker 7: no way we could literally play them all or play
- 36:45Speaker 7: parts of them all. But I made sure I picked
- 36:47Speaker 7: a few. that I wanted to get out there. Just
- 36:50Speaker 7: some of these iconic songs. And we talked to Michael
- 36:52Speaker 7: on Woodville. He talked about he's 72 years old. He
- 36:55Speaker 7: saw her when he was 12. She was 20. And
- 37:00Speaker 7: she started off with Porter Wagner. And after they split up,
- 37:03Speaker 7: I never knew this story. My brother told me, and
- 37:05Speaker 7: I was like, what? That when they split up, she
- 37:08Speaker 7: left his show to go be on her own. And
- 37:11Speaker 7: he sued her because he was upset. He figured it
- 37:15Speaker 7: was going to kill his show, which. Probably is the case,
- 37:18Speaker 7: I imagine, because she was extremely talented.
- 37:22Speaker 3: And then she left the show and he sued her.
- 37:26Speaker 7: And instead of fighting him in court, she literally gave
- 37:30Speaker 7: him every penny she had. She took all the money
- 37:33Speaker 7: that she had earned and gave it to him and
- 37:36Speaker 7: thanked him for everything. And I don't know if he
- 37:40Speaker 7: continued the lawsuit or not, but I guess it's hard
- 37:43Speaker 7: to continue suing someone after they give you every penny
- 37:46Speaker 7: they have.
- 37:47Speaker 3: But she did that. That's pretty amazing.
- 37:50Speaker 7: And then went on to recoup those costs a million
- 37:54Speaker 7: times over, millions and millions and millions, because she was
- 37:58Speaker 7: highly successful and extremely talented. But the other thing that
- 38:04Speaker 7: was funny was Michael couldn't remember the name of the song.
- 38:07Speaker 3: So I'm going to play it.
- 38:09Speaker 7: It's probably her biggest hit because it was a number
- 38:13Speaker 7: one hit three different times. I don't know how many
- 38:16Speaker 7: other songs have ever done this. She had it, Whitney Houston,
- 38:21Speaker 7: and then she had it a number one hit again.
- 38:23Speaker 16: If I.
- 38:27Speaker 13: Should stay I would only be in love.
- 38:38Speaker 3: That's the voice of an angel.
- 38:45Speaker 13: I'll think of you each step of the way.
- 38:53Speaker 5: And I.
- 39:11Speaker 7: Once again, these are songs from my youth, everybody's youth.
- 39:13Speaker 7: I mean, I could literally play the whole song, but
- 39:17Speaker 7: I'm not going to.
- 39:18Speaker 3: I'll just play parts of it.
- 39:20Speaker 7: But that's just incredible how talented she was. And then
- 39:23Speaker 7: how Whitney Houston was at my bodyguard, I believe, in
- 39:25Speaker 7: the eighties, you know, she's saying it did a fantastic job.
- 39:30Speaker 7: And then it became a number one hit from that again.
- 39:33Speaker 7: And then later, I don't know if it's from that
- 39:34Speaker 7: movie or another Dolly Parton's version went number one. Again,
- 39:37Speaker 7: I think it's the only song to ever go number one,
- 39:40Speaker 7: three different times.
- 39:44Speaker 12: Okay.
- 39:44Speaker 3: That's talent.
- 39:45Speaker 7: That is extreme talent. Anyway, how are you going to
- 39:51Speaker 7: remember Dolly Parton? If you want to join.
- 39:53Speaker 3: Us, 281-558-KSEV, 281-558-5738. And listen to that. It makes me sad.
- 39:59Speaker 7: It makes me tear up just hearing, man, she's gone.
- 40:02Speaker 7: My God, I just, you know, you were losing these
- 40:07Speaker 7: great ones. We did a show last week, you know,
- 40:08Speaker 7: Frank Beard, the drummer for ZZ Top, passed away back
- 40:11Speaker 7: in 2021, the same year my dad passed away.
- 40:14Speaker 3: We lost.
- 40:17Speaker 7: Dusty Hill, the bass player for ZZ Top.
- 40:21Speaker 3: But Dolly Parton was born in 1946 and she made
- 40:24Speaker 3: it here to 2020. So, yeah, she was old.
- 40:28Speaker 7: And, you know, she was always so good natured because
- 40:31Speaker 7: people would talk about her plastic surgery. And she was
- 40:34Speaker 7: so funny about it because she'd make jokes about it.
- 40:38Speaker 7: But she was always dolled up. She always wore wigs.
- 40:40Speaker 3: And a lot of makeup.
- 40:41Speaker 7: And it was from, you know, they sort of explained
- 40:43Speaker 7: it in the movie they did about her life when
- 40:46Speaker 7: she was a little girl. She saw this woman or
- 40:49Speaker 7: met this woman one time and the woman was We'll
- 40:53Speaker 7: just say maybe possibly.
- 40:56Speaker 3: A lady of the evening. At least that's the way
- 40:58Speaker 3: I've heard it.
- 40:59Speaker 7: But she was very dolled up, and the lady was
- 41:02Speaker 7: wearing wigs and jewelry and just, I guess, rhinestones. And
- 41:08Speaker 7: she was the nicest lady to Dolly. So when Dolly
- 41:12Speaker 7: grew up, that's what she wanted. She wanted to look
- 41:14Speaker 7: that way. So she was always decked out in her
- 41:17Speaker 7: rhinestones and her jewelry and her nails. I never remember
- 41:20Speaker 7: those big, I'll never forget those big nails she had
- 41:24Speaker 7: when she played the guitar.
- 41:26Speaker 3: And like I said, you know, insider, you know, baseball
- 41:30Speaker 3: on our end.
- 41:30Speaker 7: And she oftentimes played, I don't know if always, but
- 41:34Speaker 7: would play on an open E-tuned guitar so she could
- 41:36Speaker 7: just bar the chords. Now the thing is, it doesn't
- 41:38Speaker 7: make it, I mean, it makes it easier, but it
- 41:40Speaker 7: doesn't make it easier, but it enables someone with super
- 41:42Speaker 7: long fingernails to be able to play.
- 41:45Speaker 3: And she would do it amazingly.
- 41:49Speaker 7: She was so talented. Such a great singer. And of course,
- 41:52Speaker 7: you can hear it in that song, I Will Always
- 41:54Speaker 7: Love You. So I'll play another couple of Dolly songs
- 41:57Speaker 7: here as we go. Probably just, we'll just, like I said,
- 42:00Speaker 7: we'll talk about Dolly here the first hour, we'll mention
- 42:01Speaker 7: in the second hour, and then get to the important
- 42:04Speaker 7: stuff that, you know, not that this isn't important.
- 42:07Speaker 16: It is.
- 42:08Speaker 7: But people will be reflecting on, you know, Dolly Parton
- 42:10Speaker 7: here for A long, long time. And she had had
- 42:14Speaker 7: some health issues as of late. She lost her husband a.
- 42:17Speaker 3: Few years ago, a couple of years ago, two or
- 42:19Speaker 3: three years ago.
- 42:20Speaker 7: And then she had some health issues. And then her nephew,
- 42:23Speaker 7: she asked her nephew to announce it. And he announced
- 42:26Speaker 7: it today on Twitter X. So a very sad day.
- 42:30Speaker 3: I'm sad.
- 42:31Speaker 7: Anyway, let's go and take a break. You're listening to
- 42:33Speaker 7: Chris X Radio, 281-558-KACB, 281-558-5738. When we come back, I
- 42:39Speaker 7: still got a couple more Dolly Parton songs I want
- 42:42Speaker 7: to play. These are ones that I remember well from
- 42:44Speaker 7: my youth. And then we can get in on the
- 42:47Speaker 7: Supreme Court lifting a block, a judge's block on President
- 42:51Speaker 7: Trump's executive order, adding to.
- 42:53Speaker 3: Mail-in voter requirements.
- 42:55Speaker 7: This removes a big hurdle for that will be going
- 42:59Speaker 7: into effect into the midterms.
- 43:01Speaker 3: We can get into that.
- 43:02Speaker 7: Canada announcing more retaliatory tariffs against the U.S. I guess
- 43:07Speaker 7: the Supreme Court can't stop them. And shocker, I know
- 43:10Speaker 7: this really shocks you, James Tallarico, he filed a bill
- 43:15Speaker 7: to place diversity, equity, and inclusion officers at every large
- 43:17Speaker 7: public school district in Texas.
- 43:20Speaker 3: Shocker.

- 46:42Speaker 2: Chris X Radio.
- 46:45Speaker 7: See, fortunately, you guys are bringing the rock and roll
- 46:56Speaker 7: so I can feel a little better on this sad day.
- 47:01Speaker 3: Country music has lost its queen. Dolly Parton has passed
- 47:05Speaker 3: away at the age of 80. Extremely talented.
- 47:07Speaker 7: I saw trending on Twitter, Twitter X, the Johnny Carson
- 47:13Speaker 7: show is trending, which is hilarious.
- 47:19Speaker 3: Because of.
- 47:22Speaker 7: Johnny Carson's interactions with Dolly Parton over the years. So
- 47:27Speaker 7: there's been a lot of interactions.
- 47:28Speaker 3: And once she wrote a song once. The Johnny Carson.
- 47:32Speaker 7: Show, I think is what she called it, The Tonight Show.
- 47:35Speaker 7: But yeah, she was on that program a lot.
- 47:37Speaker 3: There it is.
- 47:40Speaker 7: She played, like I said, those nails on The Johnny
- 47:44Speaker 7: Carson Show, which is a great song. That's a really
- 47:46Speaker 7: good one.
- 47:47Speaker 3: In fact, you know what? Maybe I'll... Hold on. We'll
- 47:50Speaker 3: play this clip here. It's too good here. Let's see
- 47:53Speaker 3: if we can... Hold on to me.
- 47:56Speaker 7: Let's get this right so you can hear her play
- 47:58Speaker 7: her song that she wrote to Johnny Carson on the program.
- 48:05Speaker 13: Come a long way from the hills of Tennessee.
- 48:09Speaker 3: And I've worked hard to make the folks.
- 48:11Speaker 2: Back home real proud of me.
- 48:13Speaker 13: Now everybody knows my name.
- 48:15Speaker 2: No matter where I go.
- 48:18Speaker 13: But I never really made it to the Johnny Carson show.
- 48:22Speaker 4: Great.
- 48:23Speaker 3: Let's have better voices.
- 48:26Speaker 13: Dream of stardom since i was just a kid a
- 48:30Speaker 13: million dollar dream beneath this 13 dollar wig in my
- 48:35Speaker 13: bell-bottom jumpsuits with.
- 48:36Speaker 3: My rhinestones all.
- 48:38Speaker 13: Aglow i became an overnight success from the johnny carson
- 48:42Speaker 13: show From polyester paradise to silk and satin frills. From
- 48:50Speaker 13: a 48-foot mobile home to a mansion on the hill.
- 48:54Speaker 13: From moonshine to rare wine, from a packard to a rose.
- 48:58Speaker 19: But I never.
- 48:59Speaker 13: Really made it till the Johnny Carson Show.
- 49:03Speaker 7: I mean, that was incredible. That's how talented she was. Anyway,
- 49:08Speaker 7: welcome back to Chris X Radio. I have not made
- 49:11Speaker 7: it to the Johnny Carson Show, but she did. And
- 49:15Speaker 7: thank God for it because the world got to see
- 49:17Speaker 7: how talented she truly was. And then once again, it's
- 49:20Speaker 7: funny because people, I guess from my age, I guess
- 49:25Speaker 7: as we, you know, from the 70s, we're really late 60s,
- 49:31Speaker 7: 70s and 80s.
- 49:32Speaker 3: That was when she was just, I mean, she was everywhere.
- 49:34Speaker 3: She was in movies. She was on television.
- 49:37Speaker 7: Writing hit songs left and right.
- 49:39Speaker 3: It was incredible.
- 49:41Speaker 7: So she did just amazing talent. I know she got older,
- 49:46Speaker 7: but she was still performing. So, I mean, as of,
- 49:49Speaker 7: you know, relatively recently, but she lost her husband here
- 49:52Speaker 7: in the last couple of years. And then, and then
- 49:55Speaker 7: now she turned 80 and had some health issues and
- 49:57Speaker 7: she passed away, I guess, either earlier today or yesterday.
- 50:00Speaker 7: I guess she was surrounded by her loved ones, which
- 50:01Speaker 7: is great. And she says that's it. She's worn rhinestones
- 50:05Speaker 7: her whole life. She wants to be, you know, she
- 50:07Speaker 7: wants to rest in cotton so she can be comfortable
- 50:12Speaker 7: after years of wearing rhinestones and the things she wore.
- 50:16Speaker 3: She wore a lot of stuff. So, by the way,
- 50:20Speaker 3: I got an email during the break. A couple other things, too.
- 50:22Speaker 7: By the way, Casholine tried to download the app, our
- 50:25Speaker 7: new KSCV radio app, which people I know they can
- 50:27Speaker 7: download on the iPhone app.
- 50:29Speaker 3: But on the Android, but you weren't able to find it, Cash?
- 50:31Speaker 3: You weren't able to get it downloaded? I was not,
- 50:34Speaker 3: but I'm still thinking it's a user error. Okay, could be.
- 50:37Speaker 7: Anyway, I was told that you can download it on
- 50:40Speaker 7: Android now, but there may still be some bugs working
- 50:42Speaker 7: out on that.
- 50:43Speaker 3: And it looks like we're up.
- 50:44Speaker 7: On Twitter now. I think the video of the program
- 50:48Speaker 7: is up. Let me go see if I can go
- 50:49Speaker 7: look and see if I'm actually live.
- 50:51Speaker 3: Look at that. There I is. By the way, I
- 50:54Speaker 3: noticed something about my video, too, by the way. I'm
- 50:57Speaker 3: here at Studio X.
- 50:58Speaker 13: Um.
- 51:00Speaker 7: Over my left shoulder, I've got my Xenomorph. He's over
- 51:05Speaker 7: there behind the couch watching things.
- 51:06Speaker 3: I noticed that it looks like he's looking at the
- 51:09Speaker 3: Chris X. Sorry, let me go there. The Chris X
- 51:12Speaker 3: license plate there. He's actually not.
- 51:13Speaker 7: He's staring at my guitar, the little American flag guitar
- 51:17Speaker 7: over here on the right. Which, by the way, I've
- 51:20Speaker 7: got a couple of those American flag guitars. Literally bought
- 51:23Speaker 7: them for the aesthetics. Now, I haven't really played this one.
- 51:27Speaker 7: This was one that was just bought basically for aesthetics.
- 51:30Speaker 7: I've played it a little bit. But the other one,
- 51:32Speaker 7: my other American Fly guitar, I play that one all
- 51:33Speaker 7: the time. Well, I used to play it all the time.
- 51:36Speaker 7: And that one, it actually sounded good.
- 51:38Speaker 3: Cheap guitar.
- 51:39Speaker 7: Great paint job on it. Once again, when you're a musician.
- 51:44Speaker 7: So anyway, but the video we're up on, I guess,
- 51:47Speaker 7: X and Facebook, I think. I don't know if we're
- 51:49Speaker 7: up on YouTube and Rumble, but we're doing our video.
- 51:52Speaker 7: They're still working out some kinks. Something was up with
- 51:54Speaker 7: the Rumble today. Rumble was having issues and Anyway, we're
- 51:57Speaker 7: back up. It looks like we're up and rolling on
- 51:59Speaker 7: the videos. We're also, for those, I got an email
- 52:02Speaker 7: during the break.
- 52:02Speaker 3: Hey, what's going on with the sound of the station?
- 52:05Speaker 7: So over the weekend, I don't know if you guys,
- 52:09Speaker 7: not all of you probably are aware of this.
- 52:11Speaker 3: On Friday, the transmitter done blowed up.
- 52:14Speaker 7: Which it didn't, but a box did that is required,
- 52:17Speaker 7: you know, equipment for the transmitter blew up and we
- 52:21Speaker 7: were off the air on 700 AM. Apparently we're still,
- 52:24Speaker 7: now we're back on 1540. I don't know what's going on,
- 52:27Speaker 7: but we're on, we were on 1540 on Friday. And
- 52:30Speaker 7: then of course we're on 1540, I think today. I
- 52:32Speaker 7: never listen to it because I don't really pick it
- 52:34Speaker 7: up in my area very well. But I do pick
- 52:36Speaker 7: up the station just fine. So I'm hearing the signal
- 52:38Speaker 7: just fine. Others, I guess they got it back on
- 52:41Speaker 7: the air over the weekend. But then coming up, like
- 52:47Speaker 7: I said, we got the approval for a power boost
- 52:49Speaker 7: is what it is.
- 52:51Speaker 3: I don't know if I'm supposed to be telling you this.
- 52:54Speaker 7: But here in about a month, we should get a
- 52:56Speaker 7: power boost, so we should be getting the signal better.
- 52:59Speaker 7: I'm not sure exactly when that will happen. I know
- 53:02Speaker 7: our engineer is going on vacation.
- 53:04Speaker 3: Figures.
- 53:07Speaker 7: But we did get the power boost, and that's another
- 53:09Speaker 7: reason why we had to upgrade the box.
- 53:12Speaker 3: So that had to be done regardless.
- 53:15Speaker 7: So, anyhow, but that was why if you were having
- 53:19Speaker 7: trouble with the signal, that may have something to do
- 53:20Speaker 7: with it.
- 53:21Speaker 3: Anyway, let's take a short break. Hour number two is
- 53:24Speaker 3: on the other side. We'll be right back. Don't you
- 53:25Speaker 3: go anywhere. Chris X Radio rolls.
- 53:33Speaker 14: On.
- 53:33Speaker 20: AM 700 KSCV, Tomball, Houston, and streaming online at kscvradio.com,
- 53:39Speaker 20: the voice of Texas.
- 53:43Speaker 25: News this hour from Town Hall.
- 53:45Speaker 3: I'm Keith Peters in Washington.
- 53:47Speaker 25: Tonight is the runoff for the Republican nomination for Senate
- 53:50Speaker 25: from South Carolina.
- 53:52Speaker 26: South Carolina voters are deciding who will replace the late
- 53:55Speaker 26: Senator Lindsey Graham in the Senate. President Trump has endorsed
- 53:59Speaker 26: and campaigned for Senator Darlene Graham, Lindsey Graham's sister.
- 54:03Speaker 3: She will be somebody you're going to be very proud.
- 54:06Speaker 15: You vote for her, you're going to be very proud of.
- 54:09Speaker 26: Darlene Graham is serving as an interim replacement for her brother.
- 54:12Speaker 26: Her opponent is Congressman Ralph Norman, who has told supporters
- 54:16Speaker 26: that while he wanted President Trump's endorsement, the voters will
- 54:20Speaker 26: ultimately determine who wins.
- 54:22Speaker 6: I asked for the president's endorsement, didn't get it, but
- 54:25Speaker 6: anybody would want the endorsement, but he chose who he did.
- 54:28Speaker 22: And that's fine.
- 54:29Speaker 3: That audio courtesy of WSOC-TV. I'm Mike Hempen.
- 54:33Speaker 25: The Supreme Court has delivered an initial victory to the
- 54:36Speaker 25: Trump administration in its efforts to strengthen mail ballot security
- 54:40Speaker 25: ahead of the 2026 midterm elections. Correspondent Ken Lorman reports.
- 54:46Speaker 27: In a 6-3 ruling, the justices lifted a lower court
- 54:49Speaker 27: injunction blocking key provisions of President Trump's executive order in
- 54:53Speaker 27: California and 22 other states. The plan would create a
- 54:57Speaker 27: federal list of eligible voters and direct the Postal Service
- 55:01Speaker 27: to deliver ballots only to those voters. The White House
- 55:04Speaker 27: calls the measures common sense steps to protect election integrity.
- 55:09Speaker 27: Ken Lorman reporting.
- 55:11Speaker 25: Dolly Parton, the iconic songwriter, singer, and actor, has died.
- 55:15Speaker 25: A statement from her publicist says she died peacefully Tuesday
- 55:19Speaker 25: at the age of 80 in Nashville, Tennessee. Parton wrote
- 55:23Speaker 25: and sang hundreds of songs, including classics like Jolene and
- 55:27Speaker 25: Code of Many Colors. On Wall Street, the top by
- 55:30Speaker 25: 180 points, the Nasdaq rose 171, the S & P
- 55:33Speaker 25: advanced 24.

- 57:07Speaker 28: This True Sand commentary is brought to you by Ability
- 57:10Speaker 28: Tree Experts. Ability Tree Experts, Houston's leading tree care professionals.
- 57:14Speaker 28: Call 281-441-4179. From KSEV, here's political contributor Ben Strewsand.
- 57:23Speaker 21: To my fellow Republicans who supported John Cornyn and won't
- 57:27Speaker 21: vote for Ken Paxton. you're about to give control of
- 57:31Speaker 21: the U.S. Senate over to the socialists that now run
- 57:34Speaker 21: the Democrat Party. Their plan is to pack the Supreme Court,
- 57:37Speaker 21: give statehood to D.C. and Puerto Rico, so as to
- 57:41Speaker 21: add four new Democrats to the Senate and control the
- 57:44Speaker 21: Electoral College. Do you really want that on your conscience?
- 57:48Speaker 21: And don't think for a minute that somehow progressive socialist
- 57:52Speaker 21: turned moderate James Tallarico won't support the Bernese team. He
- 57:57Speaker 21: won't have a choice. Or another election for six years.
- 58:01Speaker 21: We all know what it's like to support crap candidates
- 58:05Speaker 21: when a Republican primary is over. We've held our nose
- 58:08Speaker 21: and voted Republican so many times that the smell doesn't
- 58:11Speaker 21: stink anymore.
- 58:12Speaker 3: It's your turn.
- 58:14Speaker 21: Whatever problems you have with Paxton, and he's got a few,
- 58:17Speaker 21: pale in comparison to the damage that will be done
- 58:21Speaker 21: if you allow a Democrat to win a Senate race
- 58:23Speaker 21: in Texas. Besides, he doesn't sport any swastikas, his relationships
- 58:29Speaker 21: with women were consensual, and he thinks Hamas is a
- 58:33Speaker 21: bunch of murderers. With Tallarico, you get men playing in
- 58:37Speaker 21: women's sports, the DEI agenda, unfettered illegal immigration, and handcuffs
- 58:42Speaker 21: on police, not criminals. So starting with John Cornyn's Senate buddies,
- 58:47Speaker 21: John Thune and Rick Scott, get over it before it's
- 58:50Speaker 21: too late. Spend the money. Saying I told you so
- 58:54Speaker 21: might make you feel better, but only briefly. Besides, we
- 58:58Speaker 21: wouldn't be in this position if Cornyn had retired and
- 59:02Speaker 21: let a new generation take over. Texas Republicans read the
- 59:06Speaker 21: polling and knew he was done for. But you all
- 59:10Speaker 21: seem to.
- 59:10Speaker 3: Think that you're indispensable.
- 59:13Speaker 21: I'm Ben Strewsand, and that's my view.
- 59:18Speaker 2: Ben Strewsand, only on AM700 KSEV.
- 59:25Speaker 18: Thank goodness our weather experts are providing us with hurricane
- 59:28Speaker 18: tracking charts and reminding us to be prepared for big storms.
- 59:31Speaker 18: But they overlook one very important thing, the damage and
- 59:34Speaker 18: destruction from broken limbs and uprooted trees. Call Lewis Flory
- 59:37Speaker 18: at Ability Tree Experts today. My friend for nearly 40 years.
- 59:41Speaker 18: At 281-441-4179 and let him explain how this problem can
- 59:46Speaker 18: be minimized with professional pruning. You see, when the tree
- 59:49Speaker 18: canopy is too thick and dense, the tree can be
- 59:51Speaker 18: completely blown over and tree limbs broken. causing terrible damage
- 59:55Speaker 18: to the tree and maybe your home. Where tree limbs break,
- 59:59Speaker 18: sap will ooze, and that attracts harmful insects. So you
- 1:00:02Speaker 18: need to call Louis Flory today at 281-441-4179 and have
- 1:00:09Speaker 18: his experts come out and professionally prune your trees to
- 1:00:12Speaker 18: withstand sudden storms that are so frequent this time of year.
- 1:00:15Speaker 18: Visit their website at AbilityTrees.com. That's 281-441-4179. Ability Tree Experts,
- 1:00:23Speaker 18: Houston's leading tree care professional.
- 1:00:25Speaker 2: King SEV, 700 AM. Launch Control, this is Houston.
- 1:00:34Speaker 28: We are going to launch. 5, 4, 3, 2, 1.
- 1:00:41Speaker 5: It's Chris X Radio.
- 1:00:46Speaker 2: Chris X Radio.
- 1:00:48Speaker 1: What we need.
- 1:00:49Speaker 5: Right now is a clear message to the people of
- 1:00:52Speaker 5: this country.
- 1:00:53Speaker 1: This message must.
- 1:00:54Speaker 5: Be read in every newspaper, heard on every radio, seen
- 1:00:57Speaker 5: on every television.
- 1:00:58Speaker 6: This message must resound throughout the entire interlinked.
- 1:01:02Speaker 2: And now, your host.
- 1:01:03Speaker 29: I believe this is going to be our finest hour.
- 1:01:05Speaker 2: Chris X.
- 1:01:36Speaker 7: Good evening and welcome to the second hour of Chris
- 1:01:38Speaker 7: X Radio. I am the aforementioned X-Man. Glad to have
- 1:01:42Speaker 7: you here with us as we are rocking and rolling
- 1:01:45Speaker 7: here until 6 p.m. That's how we roll every Taco Tuesday,
- 1:01:48Speaker 7: each Monday through Thursday here on The Voice of Texas.
- 1:01:51Speaker 3: Glad to have you here with us.
- 1:01:54Speaker 7: We went through the first show or the first hour,
- 1:01:56Speaker 7: and then now here we are on the second hour. Sorry,
- 1:01:58Speaker 7: I just received some emails here during the break, so
- 1:02:01Speaker 7: I was reading them. Somebody just got a new car
- 1:02:03Speaker 7: and said, can't find 700 on the AM dial.
- 1:02:07Speaker 3: I don't know what that means. I know some new
- 1:02:09Speaker 3: vehicles don't even have AM things in there.
- 1:02:12Speaker 7: And if for some reason you've got a new vehicle
- 1:02:14Speaker 7: that doesn't have the AM dial on it or you're
- 1:02:17Speaker 7: getting one, first of all, they're still trying to pass
- 1:02:19Speaker 7: that AM.
- 1:02:20Speaker 3: Radio thing, which they should.
- 1:02:22Speaker 7: But if you don't, you can always download the KSEV
- 1:02:24Speaker 7: radio app on your smartphone. I'm told you can get
- 1:02:30Speaker 7: it on Android now, but Cash O'Lean was having trouble
- 1:02:33Speaker 7: downloading the Android. I know we've already got it for
- 1:02:35Speaker 7: the iPhone 6. If you're on an Android phone, you
- 1:02:38Speaker 7: can still go to our website, ksevradio.com, and still listen
- 1:02:42Speaker 7: to the stream that way, so you can stream it
- 1:02:44Speaker 7: in your vehicle. I'm sure you've got a new vehicle,
- 1:02:47Speaker 7: and the emailer said, yeah, they do have.
- 1:02:49Speaker 3: The app, so they can listen that way.
- 1:02:51Speaker 7: Once again, the transmitter, a box in our transmitter blew
- 1:02:55Speaker 7: up last Friday as we were working on the power upgrade, apparently.
- 1:02:59Speaker 7: And they've got a new box, so we're back on
- 1:03:02Speaker 7: the air, but the signal's not great in some areas.
- 1:03:05Speaker 7: It's good in my area. I'm in the Cypress area,
- 1:03:06Speaker 7: and I pick it up just fine. But in other areas,
- 1:03:10Speaker 7: not as good. So some people are still having issues.
- 1:03:13Speaker 7: Once again, just download the app or go to the website, ksavradio.com.
- 1:03:18Speaker 7: You can listen that way, or like I said, we
- 1:03:19Speaker 7: do stream the video now. So the video's over at
- 1:03:24Speaker 7: Brumble and YouTube and... Twitter X and Facebook. Lukasz, are
- 1:03:29Speaker 7: we up on all the platforms now, or where are.
- 1:03:33Speaker 3: We at now? Just Twitter and the Face page.
- 1:03:36Speaker 7: Okay, so just on the Book of Faces and the Twitter,
- 1:03:40Speaker 7: we're up on right now. Apparently, Rumble had some issues,
- 1:03:42Speaker 7: and Twitter and YouTube are having issues today. Occasionally, this
- 1:03:46Speaker 7: happens sometimes, so they'll go sort that out. We should
- 1:03:49Speaker 7: be back in business on all the platforms tomorrow.
- 1:03:53Speaker 29: So.
- 1:03:54Speaker 7: But for right now, if you want to stream the video,
- 1:03:56Speaker 7: you can always go check it out over at TwitterX
- 1:03:59Speaker 7: or Facebook.
- 1:04:00Speaker 3: Under KSCV Radio. There you go.
- 1:04:04Speaker 7: Follow our page, and then you can actually do that
- 1:04:06Speaker 7: and check it out. Okay, so we got that going
- 1:04:08Speaker 7: on here. I mentioned in the first hour, I'm going
- 1:04:11Speaker 7: to do some more tributes to Dolly Parton here.
- 1:04:14Speaker 3: She passed away at the age of 80.
- 1:04:16Speaker 7: A national treasure, extremely talented, not only just a singer,
- 1:04:21Speaker 7: but a musician, songwriter, incredible talent, far more talented than
- 1:04:26Speaker 7: I think a lot of people ever really realized because she,
- 1:04:29Speaker 7: you know, played into the caricature of herself with the
- 1:04:32Speaker 7: big wigs and the big things and big rhinestones and
- 1:04:37Speaker 7: dresses and It was always sort of, once again, all
- 1:04:40Speaker 7: the guys loved her, of course, but then the ladies
- 1:04:42Speaker 7: loved her too because she was such a sweetheart, was
- 1:04:45Speaker 7: a great person, had a huge heart, and just a
- 1:04:49Speaker 7: wonderful lady. And her husband passed a few years ago,
- 1:04:51Speaker 7: and then she has now passed on. Her nephew, Brian Seaver,
- 1:04:56Speaker 7: made the announcement on her Twitter X page earlier today.
- 1:05:00Speaker 3: So that's very sad.
- 1:05:01Speaker 7: I played that in the first hour. So if you want,
- 1:05:03Speaker 7: you can go back to the podcast and check that out.
- 1:05:05Speaker 7: I've been playing little clips of Dolly's music. Of course,
- 1:05:09Speaker 7: I played her version of Shine by Collective Soul, which
- 1:05:12Speaker 7: is incredible. I like her version as much as I
- 1:05:15Speaker 7: do the original because it's very different, but it's amazing.
- 1:05:19Speaker 3: She did a great job. It's an amazing version.
- 1:05:21Speaker 7: But also we played 9 to 5, a hit movie
- 1:05:23Speaker 7: and a hit song.
- 1:05:25Speaker 3: Played, let's see, what else? Dolly Parton, I Will Always
- 1:05:31Speaker 3: Love You. Remember that one?
- 1:05:33Speaker 7: Also played her when she was on the Johnny Carson show.
- 1:05:37Speaker 7: And she wrote a song about being on the Johnny
- 1:05:40Speaker 7: Carson show. And then, of course, I Will Always.
- 1:05:42Speaker 3: Love You, which has been a number one hit three times.
- 1:05:45Speaker 7: I don't know if any other song has ever done that.
- 1:05:47Speaker 3: I really don't.
- 1:05:49Speaker 7: But she also had a couple of other, well, she's
- 1:05:52Speaker 7: had a bunch of hits. But one of them, this one,
- 1:05:55Speaker 7: everybody remembers this one. If you don't remember this song,
- 1:06:00Speaker 7: you must have lived under a rock. But basically, that's
- 1:06:03Speaker 7: where she came from.
- 1:06:05Speaker 13: Jolene, Jolene, Jolene.
- 1:06:09Speaker 3: Listen to that voice.
- 1:06:10Speaker 13: I'm begging of you, please don't take my man.
- 1:06:13Speaker 3: In the world of auto-tune, you don't get this kind
- 1:06:16Speaker 3: of talent very often anymore. Jolene, Jolene, Jolene. Harmonies.
- 1:06:22Speaker 13: Please don't take him just because you can.
- 1:06:25Speaker 7: The biggest joke about this song, which is funny, because
- 1:06:28Speaker 7: it's a serious song.
- 1:06:28Speaker 16: Beauty is beyond compare.
- 1:06:30Speaker 13: With flaming locks of auburn hair. With ivory skin and
- 1:06:34Speaker 13: eyes of emerald.
- 1:06:35Speaker 7: One of the jokes somebody posted on social media was, man,
- 1:06:39Speaker 7: what was Jolene Packard in order for Dolly Parton to say,
- 1:06:43Speaker 7: don't take my man? Because back in the 70s and 80s,
- 1:06:46Speaker 7: every guy wanted Dolly Parton. And she was with her
- 1:06:51Speaker 7: husband for 50 plus years.
- 1:06:55Speaker 22: But just.
- 1:06:58Speaker 7: This is a beautiful song. I mean, it's a great one.
- 1:07:00Speaker 7: And then, of course, she had this one when she
- 1:07:02Speaker 7: was a child, or from when she was a child.
- 1:07:04Speaker 7: This is such a sweet song, but this is a
- 1:07:06Speaker 7: true story.
- 1:07:08Speaker 13: Back through the years, I go wondering once again. Back
- 1:07:14Speaker 13: to the seasons of my youth.
- 1:07:18Speaker 3: She was very poor.
- 1:07:19Speaker 13: I recall a box of rags that someone gave us.
- 1:07:24Speaker 3: And how my mama.
- 1:07:26Speaker 13: Put the rags to use. There were rags of many colors.
- 1:07:33Speaker 13: But every piece was small. And I didn't have a coat.
- 1:07:38Speaker 13: And it was a way down in the fall. Mama
- 1:07:41Speaker 13: sewed the rags together. So in every piece with love
- 1:07:46Speaker 13: she made my coat of many colors. That I was
- 1:07:51Speaker 13: so proud.
- 1:07:53Speaker 3: Now, this may be the name of the movie they did.
- 1:07:55Speaker 13: I think it.
- 1:07:56Speaker 3: Was called Code of Many Colors.
- 1:07:57Speaker 13: We live in a world now where this is so different.
- 1:08:21Speaker 7: But just so talented. She wrote so many great songs.
- 1:08:24Speaker 7: It was autobiographical. It was something that actually happened when
- 1:08:27Speaker 7: she was a kid. So she was extremely talented, and
- 1:08:32Speaker 7: she wrote these songs, and she played them on guitar.
- 1:08:35Speaker 3: She was very talented.
- 1:08:37Speaker 7: And all my musician friends on social media are all
- 1:08:40Speaker 7: posting about her today because if you're a musician, you
- 1:08:43Speaker 7: recognize that talent. Now, a lot of people just thought
- 1:08:45Speaker 7: she was talented because she was a great singer and
- 1:08:47Speaker 7: they loved her songs. They didn't understand how talented of
- 1:08:50Speaker 7: a musician and songwriter she actually was. So, anyway, Dolly
- 1:08:54Speaker 7: Parton has passed.
- 1:08:55Speaker 3: How will you remember Dolly Parton? 281-558-KSEV, 281.
- 1:09:00Speaker 7: If you want to weigh in, I'm going to get
- 1:09:04Speaker 7: to some of the other stuff here in a minute.
- 1:09:06Speaker 3: I will always remember.
- 1:09:08Speaker 7: Her, you, as an amazing singer, songwriter, and performer, and
- 1:09:14Speaker 7: one of the sweetest ladies in show business. Because no
- 1:09:18Speaker 7: one ever had a crossword to say about Dolly. Anytime
- 1:09:21Speaker 7: somebody said anything cross, it was about her appearance. It
- 1:09:24Speaker 7: was about something along those lines. And those were simply.
- 1:09:27Speaker 3: Out of spite or out of jealousy or whatever.
- 1:09:31Speaker 7: As far as her personality and what she did, and
- 1:09:34Speaker 7: she did so much good for so many people. There
- 1:09:41Speaker 7: will be a hole in the vortex, if you will,
- 1:09:43Speaker 7: because she leaves behind a legacy of one that we
- 1:09:46Speaker 7: will get to enjoy. Thank God for giving it to
- 1:09:49Speaker 7: us for 80 years. So we had a long time
- 1:09:51Speaker 7: to really get to enjoy her music and her talent.
- 1:09:55Speaker 7: And now she's taking that to heaven, along with a
- 1:09:56Speaker 7: lot of others. I mentioned last week we did a
- 1:09:59Speaker 7: program talking about Frank Beard, the drummer of ZZ Top,
- 1:10:01Speaker 7: just passed away. So we're losing a lot of these
- 1:10:04Speaker 7: icons that we grew up with, or at least I did,
- 1:10:07Speaker 7: for sure. All right, 281-558-KSVA, 281-558-5738.
- 1:10:12Speaker 3: How will you remember Dolly Parton? Let's go to the phones.
- 1:10:14Speaker 7: Pick up with Andy listening in Kingwood. Andy, thank you
- 1:10:17Speaker 7: for hanging on. Welcome to Chris X Radio.
- 1:10:20Speaker 19: Yeah, you know, I'm a storyteller, and the story I
- 1:10:24Speaker 19: want to tell relates to the thing about Dolly I
- 1:10:27Speaker 19: want to give to you.
- 1:10:29Speaker 4: When I was a little.
- 1:10:29Speaker 19: Kid going out hunting in West Texas where we used
- 1:10:32Speaker 19: to go, and I remember driving down Interstate 10 over
- 1:10:34Speaker 19: in Sealy, And I had a little kid there, and
- 1:10:37Speaker 19: as we were driving out in our station wagon, looked over,
- 1:10:39Speaker 19: and there's this hotel with all these cars lined up
- 1:10:41Speaker 19: and stuff. And I said, man, Dad, I wish I
- 1:10:43Speaker 19: could own that hotel. And, man, I'd make a lot
- 1:10:47Speaker 19: of money there. And Dad just sort of looked at
- 1:10:48Speaker 19: me and laughed as well.
- 1:10:49Speaker 3: Okay, okay.
- 1:10:51Speaker 19: Well, later on, I found out that that was the
- 1:10:53Speaker 19: Sealy Hotel. house of ill-reprudeled every later on and so
- 1:10:58Speaker 19: that reminds me of dolly she got to play in
- 1:11:01Speaker 19: the best little whorehouse in texas and with our good
- 1:11:04Speaker 19: friend marvin whatever but it was a true story about
- 1:11:07Speaker 19: marvin zindler and uh in the in the story of
- 1:11:10Speaker 19: that of the that and and she how she was
- 1:11:13Speaker 19: able to do acting as well as singing and uh
- 1:11:16Speaker 19: that's that's what the story i remember about her right
- 1:11:19Speaker 19: there Well, to correct.
- 1:11:21Speaker 7: You, it was a place of, well, the best little
- 1:11:24Speaker 7: whorehouse in Texas was in LaGrange because ZZ.
- 1:11:26Speaker 3: Top, who just lost their drummer, wrote a song about it.
- 1:11:29Speaker 3: So it was in LaGrange. And yes, that was a
- 1:11:32Speaker 3: very popular place.
- 1:11:33Speaker 19: There were two of them, though. I know the original
- 1:11:36Speaker 19: one was in LaGrange, but the one in Sealy was
- 1:11:38Speaker 19: another one that reminded me of it.
- 1:11:41Speaker 7: Okay, well, that, okay, yeah, I don't doubt that that
- 1:11:43Speaker 7: was the case. And then you mentioned Marvin Zindler, who
- 1:11:46Speaker 7: was with Eyewitness News forever.
- 1:11:48Speaker 3: He was the one who went down and had.
- 1:11:49Speaker 7: The little, we'll just say a scuff with the sheriff.
- 1:11:55Speaker 3: With the sheriff, right.
- 1:11:57Speaker 19: Which was played by one of our favorite actors. I
- 1:12:00Speaker 19: can't remember his name right off, but the one that
- 1:12:02Speaker 19: did the.
- 1:12:03Speaker 3: Dom DeLuise played him.
- 1:12:05Speaker 7: Yeah, Dom DeLuise played Marvin Zindler, and they changed the name,
- 1:12:08Speaker 7: and then Burt Reynolds played the sheriff.
- 1:12:11Speaker 3: And, of course, Dolly.
- 1:12:12Speaker 19: Parton played the madam of it.
- 1:12:14Speaker 29: That's one of my favorite movies.
- 1:12:16Speaker 3: Yeah, that is a great movie.
- 1:12:17Speaker 19: And also, you know, Dolly, she was really great. Her
- 1:12:20Speaker 19: Christian songs these last years, I mean, I know right
- 1:12:23Speaker 19: now she's up with my dad just looking down at
- 1:12:25Speaker 19: us right now. I know that she's a Christian, and
- 1:12:28Speaker 19: I know that she loves the Lord, and that's where
- 1:12:30Speaker 19: she's at right now, just in heaven singing to the Lord.
- 1:12:33Speaker 3: Yeah, no, absolutely.
- 1:12:34Speaker 17: I agree.
- 1:12:34Speaker 3: A hundred percent. Thank you for the call, Andy. I
- 1:12:36Speaker 3: appreciate it.
- 1:12:37Speaker 7: That's once again, these are stories that for those who
- 1:12:39Speaker 7: were raised in the seventies and eighties, we remember those stories.
- 1:12:42Speaker 7: Once again, iconic because like I said, Dolly Parton did
- 1:12:45Speaker 7: a movie. She starred in it. She was a good actress.
- 1:12:47Speaker 7: She was in the movie nine to five and she
- 1:12:50Speaker 7: had other parts in other movies as well, but those
- 1:12:52Speaker 7: were the, probably the big ones and the best little
- 1:12:54Speaker 7: whorehouse in Texas.
- 1:12:55Speaker 3: That was a big movie.
- 1:12:57Speaker 7: It was a, Was it a musical that was on
- 1:13:01Speaker 7: Broadway or toured the country? And it did real well.
- 1:13:05Speaker 7: But like I said, Dolly played in the movie. I
- 1:13:07Speaker 7: don't think she did the Broadway production. But the thing is,
- 1:13:12Speaker 7: she could do the movie because she could sing and
- 1:13:14Speaker 7: she could perform. So she played the madam, I guess,
- 1:13:17Speaker 7: the one that was, I guess, with Burt Reynolds in
- 1:13:19Speaker 7: the movie. That was a little before I was still
- 1:13:23Speaker 7: a young kid, kind of. what Andy was talking about.
- 1:13:27Speaker 17: Yeah.
- 1:13:28Speaker 3: I wish I owned that and have all those cars,
- 1:13:31Speaker 3: all that money.
- 1:13:31Speaker 22: Yeah.
- 1:13:33Speaker 7: They made a lot of money, but it got shut down.
- 1:13:35Speaker 7: And Marvin Zindler, he was the one, he was the
- 1:13:37Speaker 7: icon here in Houston. He's the one who got him
- 1:13:39Speaker 7: shut down.
- 1:13:40Speaker 3: So there you go.
- 1:13:41Speaker 7: But once again, that's, that added to her talent, how
- 1:13:44Speaker 7: talented she truly was. She was a songwriter, singer, actress.
- 1:13:49Speaker 7: And what's funny is I don't even think about her
- 1:13:51Speaker 7: acting that much because she You know, like I said,
- 1:13:53Speaker 7: for music, it overshadowed her acting. But her acting was good.
- 1:13:57Speaker 7: She was a TV performer. As we learned in the
- 1:14:00Speaker 7: first hour, she was with, oh, what's the guy's name?
- 1:14:05Speaker 3: I can't even remember his name. It was so long ago.
- 1:14:07Speaker 7: She did the television show with him. And then she left,
- 1:14:10Speaker 7: and he sued her. And she gave him all of
- 1:14:13Speaker 7: her money, every bit of it.
- 1:14:14Speaker 3: Said, here you go. Take it. I can always earn
- 1:14:17Speaker 3: more money. And then she did a million times over.
- 1:14:21Speaker 7: But she, like I said, she did the television show.
- 1:14:24Speaker 7: She was with, it was Dolly, and then there was
- 1:14:26Speaker 7: Kenny Rogers later. The Dolly and Kenny, they did that
- 1:14:28Speaker 7: on television, but it was the first one.
- 1:14:32Speaker 3: I can't always blank on his name, but if you
- 1:14:35Speaker 3: listen to the first hour, you'll hear it.
- 1:14:38Speaker 7: But just very talented. Anyway, but there is other stuff
- 1:14:41Speaker 7: we can talk about today. But if you want to
- 1:14:43Speaker 7: weigh in on how you remember Dolly Parton, feel free
- 1:14:45Speaker 7: to call us, 281-558-KSCV, 281-558-5738. Once again today, a Supreme
- 1:14:53Speaker 7: Court judge lifted a judge's block on the president's executive order,
- 1:14:58Speaker 7: adding to mail-in voting requirements, removing a key roadblock that
- 1:15:02Speaker 7: prevented the policy from going into effect in the midterms.
- 1:15:06Speaker 4: So....
- 1:15:07Speaker 3: You've got that going on. You've got.
- 1:15:12Speaker 7: Just also Canada announcing retaliatory tariffs against the U.S. here
- 1:15:18Speaker 7: earlier today, matching dollar for dollar the tariffs imposed by
- 1:15:22Speaker 7: President Trump when the two sides couldn't reach an agreement.
- 1:15:26Speaker 7: So we can get into that. Also, we can talk
- 1:15:28Speaker 7: about state rep and current U.S. Senate candidate James Tallarico
- 1:15:33Speaker 7: has filed a bill to place diversity, equity, and inclusion
- 1:15:36Speaker 7: officers at every large public school.
- 1:15:38Speaker 3: District in Texas. So we can get to that as well.
- 1:15:42Speaker 7: And then the WNBA, it looks like they finally learned
- 1:15:45Speaker 7: what the W stands for in the WNBA. They have
- 1:15:48Speaker 7: ruled that Ennis Cantor and Ennis Cantor Freedom and Royce
- 1:15:52Speaker 7: White are not eligible to play In the women's league.
- 1:15:57Speaker 4: So.
- 1:15:59Speaker 3: Which brings some questions. Some other people are asking about.
- 1:16:02Speaker 3: Hey did. Wait what?
- 1:16:04Speaker 14: Is.
- 1:16:05Speaker 7: There may be some dudes playing in the league already.
- 1:16:08Speaker 7: We'll see if that one ends up happening. But they're
- 1:16:10Speaker 7: ruling that those guys can't come play because they would
- 1:16:12Speaker 7: dominate the league even though they're the ones trying to
- 1:16:15Speaker 7: convince us there's no difference between men and women.
- 1:16:18Speaker 3: It is insane. All right, 281-558-KSEV. Let's take a short break.
- 1:16:22Speaker 3: We'll come back. Looks like we got David on spring.
- 1:16:25Speaker 3: We'll get to more of your phone calls.
- 1:16:26Speaker 14: 281-558-5738.
- 1:16:31Speaker 3: Steely Dan, boy, they're a talented band. They weren't really
- 1:16:35Speaker 3: a band.
- 1:16:35Speaker 7: They were just this culmination of musicians. Was it Walter Becker?
- 1:16:39Speaker 3: Donald Fagan?
- 1:16:43Speaker 7: They pulled together all of these amazing musicians, and they
- 1:16:47Speaker 7: have some amazing songs, too.
- 1:16:49Speaker 3: But Dolly Parton was very talented.
- 1:16:50Speaker 7: She passed away at the age of 80 years old
- 1:16:53Speaker 7: earlier today.
- 1:16:54Speaker 3: All right, 281-558-KCB. We'll be right back.
- 1:17:01Speaker 2: You're listening to Chris X Radio on The Voice of Texas.
- 1:17:06Speaker 4: Everyone knows the BBB is the better business bureau, but
- 1:17:09Speaker 4: depending on what you need, it's the better plumber bureau,
- 1:17:12Speaker 4: the better auto mechanic bureau, the better accountant bureau. That's
- 1:17:16Speaker 4: because the BBB connects people with businesses they can trust.
- 1:17:20Speaker 4: So think of the BBB as the better check that
- 1:17:23Speaker 4: business out first so you don't get ripped off, Bureau.
- 1:17:25Speaker 3: Be smart.
- 1:17:26Speaker 4: Always look for the BBB seal because it's looking out
- 1:17:29Speaker 4: for you. And find a better business anytime at BBB.org.
- 1:17:34Speaker 16: Do you need money? Want to lower your monthly debt?
- 1:17:37Speaker 16: Are you thinking about a cash-out refinance? Hi, it's Kathy
- 1:17:40Speaker 16: from Baker Mortgage. A cash-out refinance can get you back
- 1:17:44Speaker 16: in your comfort zone, and that's.
- 1:17:46Speaker 3: What it's all about.
- 1:17:47Speaker 16: A recent client who closed with us had his payment
- 1:17:50Speaker 16: go up about $ 300, but his monthly outgo was being
- 1:17:54Speaker 16: reduced by $ 1, 200, so giving him a net positive cash
- 1:17:58Speaker 16: flow of $ 900. It's not about adding debt, but restructuring
- 1:18:02Speaker 16: it in a way that makes sense. And this math
- 1:18:04Speaker 16: totally makes sense. And please don't sweat it if your
- 1:18:08Speaker 16: interest rate is going up a little or if you're
- 1:18:10Speaker 16: extending the term. I can show you by taking a
- 1:18:13Speaker 16: small amount of what you're saving monthly and applying it
- 1:18:16Speaker 16: towards your mortgage, you're going to pay it off just
- 1:18:18Speaker 16: as quickly and you'll be way ahead in the money game,
- 1:18:21Speaker 16: which is where we all want to be, right? Remember,

- 1:20:38Speaker 7: I'm told it's available on Android, but I think some
- 1:20:40Speaker 7: people may be having issues downloading it to their Android,
- 1:20:43Speaker 7: so not sure on that. We also got our video
- 1:20:46Speaker 7: streams that are on the socials, you know, the Facebook
- 1:20:50Speaker 7: and YouTube, or I'm sorry, Facebook and Twitter X. But
- 1:20:53Speaker 7: YouTube and Rumble are down today. They're having issues. So
- 1:20:56Speaker 7: we're not on those today, but we're still on Facebook
- 1:20:58Speaker 7: and Twitter. Also, if you're on Android phone, you can
- 1:21:03Speaker 7: always go to the website, kscvradio.com and listen there.

- 1:21:11Speaker 7: you can listen to the TuneIn radio app.
- 1:21:14Speaker 3: So there's that. It is Taco Tuesday.
- 1:21:16Speaker 7: Once again, we're honoring Dolly Parton, who passed away at
- 1:21:19Speaker 7: the age of 80. How will you remember Dolly Parton?
- 1:21:22Speaker 7: I'll always remember her as an amazing singer, songwriter, actress,
- 1:21:26Speaker 7: and performer. One of the sweetest ladies in show business.
- 1:21:30Speaker 3: 281-558-KSEV.
- 1:21:31Speaker 7: Let's go to the phones. Pick up with David listening
- 1:21:33Speaker 7: in spring. David, thank you for hanging on. Welcome to
- 1:21:35Speaker 7: Chris X Radio.
- 1:21:38Speaker 29: Man, Chris, I.
- 1:21:42Speaker 29: I was prepared to say something snarky, uh, today, but, uh, man,
- 1:21:46Speaker 29: the show is all about Dolly Parton and honoring her legacy.
- 1:21:49Speaker 29: And I agree with you. She was, uh, an amazing, uh,
- 1:21:53Speaker 29: singer performer, uh, but also amazing human being. I mean,
- 1:21:57Speaker 29: she did not ever want to pick a side and politics. Uh,
- 1:22:02Speaker 29: but she did say that, um, she thought the, uh,
- 1:22:07Speaker 29: the snarkiness and the, uh, extremism on on both sides
- 1:22:12Speaker 29: was uh was crazy and uh i can kind of
- 1:22:14Speaker 29: agree with that i think i think there's good people
- 1:22:17Speaker 29: on both sides of the aisle and uh we can
- 1:22:20Speaker 29: agree to disagree on certain things but uh we're all
- 1:22:22Speaker 29: good people and uh you know um man uh i
- 1:22:27Speaker 29: think that's it wow this is this is crazy what
- 1:22:30Speaker 29: i wanted i wanted to be angry chris what's going
- 1:22:33Speaker 29: on what's going on today Well.
- 1:22:34Speaker 7: I agree with what you said about Dolly. She was
- 1:22:37Speaker 7: she was an entertainer. She understood show business. She didn't
- 1:22:40Speaker 7: want to insult or alienate half her audience. She was
- 1:22:43Speaker 7: very smart by that. It was the Michael Jordan method
- 1:22:46Speaker 7: who famously said, hey, Republicans buy tennis shoes as well.
- 1:22:49Speaker 3: When they tried to shame him. And that kind of stuff.
- 1:22:52Speaker 7: And as you talk about the snarkiness in people, politics
- 1:22:55Speaker 7: has gotten exceptionally vitriol.
- 1:22:57Speaker 3: And it's not just politics now. It's sports. It's you
- 1:23:00Speaker 3: name it.
- 1:23:01Speaker 7: So things have gotten a whole lot less nice where
- 1:23:04Speaker 7: she was an extremely nice person.
- 1:23:06Speaker 3: She wasn't just a nice person.
- 1:23:08Speaker 7: She was a kind person who did a whole lot
- 1:23:10Speaker 7: of things for a whole lot of people and was
- 1:23:13Speaker 7: always giving back to.
- 1:23:14Speaker 3: The community and everything.
- 1:23:15Speaker 7: And to people less fortunate, it was just an amazing
- 1:23:17Speaker 7: human being who literally came from rags to riches. And
- 1:23:21Speaker 7: you don't really see as many of those stories here lately,
- 1:23:23Speaker 7: but especially somebody as talented and as kind as she was.
- 1:23:27Speaker 7: So I do believe, like I said, there will be
- 1:23:28Speaker 7: a hole left in the entertainment industry because I do
- 1:23:32Speaker 7: believe she was the queen of country music.
- 1:23:34Speaker 3: Because she was exceptionally talented. I agree with your statement.
- 1:23:37Speaker 7: And like I said, thank God that, you know, she
- 1:23:39Speaker 7: left us with all this music and the entertainment and
- 1:23:42Speaker 7: stuff that she left us with.
- 1:23:43Speaker 3: We'll have, you know, for the rest of our lives
- 1:23:45Speaker 3: as well. So I agree. This is one of those times, David,
- 1:23:47Speaker 3: you and I are 100% in agreement.
- 1:23:51Speaker 29: Yeah, it's crazy. I mean, she, the way she helped
- 1:23:53Speaker 29: literacy with her, with her program where she gave books
- 1:23:58Speaker 29: to the children all over the world, at least like the,
- 1:24:02Speaker 29: the U S UK, Australia. until they were kindergarten age,
- 1:24:07Speaker 29: I believe, from her own, like the Dollywood Foundation, the
- 1:24:12Speaker 29: money she made from that. I think when her husband
- 1:24:15Speaker 29: passed away, she even buried her husband on the Dollywood
- 1:24:19Speaker 29: grounds so she could get a tax deduction for the
- 1:24:23Speaker 29: grounds to be a burial ground so she'd pay less
- 1:24:27Speaker 29: taxes so she could give that money to pay more
- 1:24:31Speaker 29: books For the children. Or I could be getting confused.
- 1:24:35Speaker 29: Either that was Dolly Parton or there was Donald Trump
- 1:24:37Speaker 29: with his ex-wife, which I can't remember. But I'm sorry.
- 1:24:41Speaker 29: I had to throw that in, Chris. I had to
- 1:24:44Speaker 29: do something. This is a nice program. No, I don't
- 1:24:48Speaker 29: want to disparage Dolly Parton. She did not do that.
- 1:24:51Speaker 29: She did not do that. We know who did it. But, man,
- 1:24:56Speaker 29: you're making me feel disgusted with myself, Chris. This is
- 1:24:59Speaker 29: such a nice program.
- 1:25:00Speaker 4: I'm going to get off.
- 1:25:01Speaker 29: I'm just kidding.
- 1:25:03Speaker 7: I'm just giving you a thank you for the call, David.
- 1:25:05Speaker 7: We'll get rid of you here before you get yourself
- 1:25:07Speaker 7: in trouble. Yeah, what you said about Trump is ridiculous.
- 1:25:11Speaker 7: But that's, you know what, I know you can't help yourself.
- 1:25:13Speaker 7: But unlike you on today's show, I'm not going to
- 1:25:15Speaker 7: argue with you about Donald Trump. I'm going to remember
- 1:25:19Speaker 7: Dolly Parton, someone who was an entertainer, and she was
- 1:25:22Speaker 7: very good at it, and she was an incredible human being.
- 1:25:25Speaker 7: She did a whole lot more than the books.
- 1:25:27Speaker 3: But, yes, she did that too.
- 1:25:29Speaker 7: She was always about working with helping out people and
- 1:25:31Speaker 7: children and And just, she was a great human being.
- 1:25:34Speaker 7: And it's odd in this day and age, because we
- 1:25:38Speaker 7: live in such a weird time now, where a lot
- 1:25:40Speaker 7: of people make it on a whole lot less talent.
- 1:25:43Speaker 7: So that's different. And they have a lot less character,
- 1:25:46Speaker 7: which she clearly had a great, you know, character. She was,
- 1:25:51Speaker 7: you know, like I said, she was with her husband forever,
- 1:25:52Speaker 7: you know, for 50 plus years. And he passed away
- 1:25:56Speaker 7: here recently. It was a couple of years ago, I
- 1:25:58Speaker 7: do believe. And then she had some health issues here lately.
- 1:26:01Speaker 7: So once again, I'm always going to remember her for
- 1:26:04Speaker 7: one day at that incredible voice, which I think everybody's
- 1:26:06Speaker 7: going to remember that. But a lot of people don't
- 1:26:09Speaker 7: realize she was an incredible songwriter because she wrote most
- 1:26:12Speaker 7: of her big hits. And she was an amazing performer
- 1:26:15Speaker 7: watching her play that guitar with those nails. I know
- 1:26:19Speaker 7: sometimes the guitar was tuned a certain way to make
- 1:26:21Speaker 7: it a little easier. That's a little inside baseball. But
- 1:26:25Speaker 7: she was also known as one of the kindest and
- 1:26:27Speaker 7: sweetest ladies in show business.
- 1:26:30Speaker 3: The only time you ever heard a crossword.
- 1:26:32Speaker 7: About Dolly Parton, it was usually said out of jealousy
- 1:26:36Speaker 7: or some sort of spite.
- 1:26:37Speaker 3: And that was it.
- 1:26:38Speaker 7: No one could really back it up. And that's like
- 1:26:42Speaker 7: I said, there were people that she was one of
- 1:26:44Speaker 7: those people that had universal appeal, people on all sides
- 1:26:47Speaker 7: of the spectrum.
- 1:26:48Speaker 3: And she kept it that way. She understood being a performer.
- 1:26:52Speaker 7: She understood that you don't have to agree on everything
- 1:26:54Speaker 7: in order to enjoy her music. And that's great because
- 1:26:58Speaker 7: there's a lot, a lot of people. And for those
- 1:27:00Speaker 7: who know, know me, know I'm a rocker.
- 1:27:02Speaker 3: I didn't. Like I said, I wasn't a big country
- 1:27:06Speaker 3: music fan. I'm not.
- 1:27:08Speaker 7: But I enjoy Dolly Parton's music. And like I said,
- 1:27:10Speaker 7: in the first hour, if you want to go back
- 1:27:11Speaker 7: and check out the podcast, I played her version of
- 1:27:14Speaker 7: Shine by Collective Soul. Played some of the other ones,
- 1:27:18Speaker 7: like I said, 9 to 5, which was a big hit. Jolene,
- 1:27:20Speaker 7: we played that at the start of this hour. And then,
- 1:27:23Speaker 7: of course, I Will Always Love You, which I believe
- 1:27:25Speaker 7: is the only song to go to number one three
- 1:27:29Speaker 7: different times. So that's pretty incredible. And then of course her,
- 1:27:34Speaker 7: her coat of many colors. I remember my mom really
- 1:27:37Speaker 7: loved that one. That song reminded me, because my mom
- 1:27:39Speaker 7: came from a very poor background, similar to Dolly Parton,
- 1:27:43Speaker 7: also similar to, uh, what.
- 1:27:46Speaker 3: Was her name?
- 1:27:48Speaker 7: Uh, the singer who Sissy Spacek played in the movie,
- 1:27:52Speaker 7: coal miners daughter was come on, Luke cash, help me
- 1:27:55Speaker 7: out here. He's like, why I'm older than I'm older
- 1:27:58Speaker 7: than he is.
- 1:27:59Speaker 3: Uh, I can't think of her name. Anyway, there's too
- 1:28:03Speaker 3: many to keep up with.
- 1:28:05Speaker 7: But I just remember the movie, Coalmire's Daughter, says Spacek
- 1:28:08Speaker 7: played the scene. She was a great talent, too. But
- 1:28:11Speaker 7: they came from very poor backgrounds. And Dolly Parton came
- 1:28:14Speaker 7: from dirt poor.
- 1:28:15Speaker 3: Loretta Lynn? Loretta Lynn. Thank you very much.
- 1:28:18Speaker 5: Yes.
- 1:28:19Speaker 3: So look at that. You did good. Well, you and
- 1:28:21Speaker 3: your interwebs over there.
- 1:28:25Speaker 7: But once again, they're just very poor people that have
- 1:28:27Speaker 7: made it in an industry that is very difficult. Very
- 1:28:30Speaker 7: few people make it. So she is definitely an icon
- 1:28:32Speaker 7: and will be remembered forever. Her music will outlive all
- 1:28:35Speaker 7: of us because she was extremely talented. And we played
- 1:28:38Speaker 7: also that the Johnny Carson show song she wrote and
- 1:28:41Speaker 7: performed for Johnny Carson on her show because you recognized
- 1:28:44Speaker 7: what that did for her career as well. So, and
- 1:28:47Speaker 7: she did programs with what Kenny Rogers, I was trying
- 1:28:52Speaker 7: to remember it. If my brother's listening, he probably remembers.
- 1:28:54Speaker 7: I think we saw Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers together
- 1:28:58Speaker 7: at the the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, but I
- 1:29:01Speaker 7: know we saw Dolly, or at least I know I did,
- 1:29:03Speaker 7: at least once or twice. So, but that, I mean,
- 1:29:06Speaker 7: that goes back to the 70s. So, but like I said,
- 1:29:10Speaker 7: she was very talented. Rest in peace, Dolly Rebecca Parton Dean. So,
- 1:29:17Speaker 7: she was very good about keeping her private life very private,
- 1:29:20Speaker 7: which is something that is also lost in today's environment
- 1:29:23Speaker 7: as well.
- 1:29:24Speaker 18: But.
- 1:29:25Speaker 7: We almost contained David to a sense of decorum, but
- 1:29:32Speaker 7: we knew he couldn't hold it. He had to throw
- 1:29:36Speaker 7: in a garbage.
- 1:29:37Speaker 3: Jab, but that's just the way it goes. All right,
- 1:29:39Speaker 3: let's take a short break.
- 1:29:39Speaker 7: We'll come back and we'll actually start talking about some
- 1:29:41Speaker 7: of the other stuff as well. If you want to
- 1:29:43Speaker 7: weigh in on how will you remember Dolly Parton, you're
- 1:29:46Speaker 7: welcome to call in.
- 1:29:46Speaker 15: 281-558-KACV, 281-558-5738.
- 1:29:53Speaker 7: We busted up David's game today entirely. He just wanted
- 1:29:57Speaker 7: to call and just go after, sure he was going
- 1:29:58Speaker 7: to try to defend James Tallarico, then go after Trump
- 1:30:01Speaker 7: and do whatever he normally does. But he didn't get
- 1:30:04Speaker 7: to today. He had to actually be kind to Dolly.
- 1:30:07Speaker 7: And then once again, I agree with his statements on
- 1:30:09Speaker 7: Dolly Parton. Exceptionally talented lady. And she will be missed.
- 1:30:14Speaker 3: All right. 281558 KCB. We'll be right back. Don't go away.
- 1:30:22Speaker 2: Elections have consequences. So does your radio dial.
- 1:30:26Speaker 3: Don't touch it.
- 1:30:27Speaker 2: Chris X Radio returns after this.
- 1:30:30Speaker 14: After a hard rain, you can see them. The water
- 1:30:32Speaker 14: stains on the ceiling are the dripping water from a
- 1:30:35Speaker 14: recessed light. Now you start to get nervous because you
- 1:30:38Speaker 14: know leaks can cause big problems.
- 1:30:41Speaker 9: Once the water enters the structure, the trouble starts. Water
- 1:30:44Speaker 9: weakens rafters and beams over time. It soaks through drywall
- 1:30:48Speaker 9: and damages the insulation in your home.
- 1:30:50Speaker 14: And Roland, don't forget about mold. It grows fast in
- 1:30:54Speaker 14: our humidity and causes all kinds of health problems.
- 1:30:57Speaker 9: I'd really hate to see you spend thousands on expensive
- 1:31:00Speaker 9: structural or drywall repairs or mold removal projects, especially when
- 1:31:04Speaker 9: we can fix those leaks quickly at Tejas Roofing.
- 1:31:07Speaker 14: And most of our leak repairs are under $ 500. This

- 1:33:02Speaker 12: From the KSEV Weather Center, tonight expect clear to partly
- 1:33:05Speaker 12: cloudy skies with very warm and humid conditions and a

- 1:33:10Speaker 12: hot with temperatures nearing the record high of 104 last
- 1:33:13Speaker 12: seen in 2023. The high will reach 102 degrees. Tomorrow
- 1:33:18Speaker 12: night will be mainly clear, very warm, and humid with
- 1:33:20Speaker 12: a low of 81.
- 1:33:21Speaker 3: Moving on to.
- 1:33:22Speaker 12: Thursday, anticipate hot weather with a mix of clouds and
- 1:33:25Speaker 12: sun and a chance of a thunderstorm in some areas
- 1:33:27Speaker 12: during the afternoon. The high temperature will reach 100 degrees.
- 1:33:30Speaker 12: With the KSCB Weather Center forecast, I'm AccuWeather meteorologist Jason Catarina.
- 1:33:38Speaker 2: And now, we return you to your regularly scheduled dose
- 1:33:41Speaker 2: of common sense. Chris X Radio. Chris X Radio.
- 1:33:49Speaker 3: Getting a little nosy.
- 1:34:17Speaker 9: Man.
- 1:34:21Speaker 7: Now people are sending me messages about the... Porter Wagner
- 1:34:24Speaker 7: was the name. That was the one she did the
- 1:34:26Speaker 7: show with.
- 1:34:27Speaker 3: And she left.
- 1:34:28Speaker 7: They said on a court, they said for roughly a
- 1:34:29Speaker 7: million dollars to spare a long legal battle. And then
- 1:34:35Speaker 7: they said that it was the debt they paid to
- 1:34:38Speaker 7: Porter Wagner. Which is interesting because, once again, it was
- 1:34:41Speaker 7: basically all that she had.
- 1:34:44Speaker 5: And.
- 1:34:46Speaker 7: They said it took a while to get over the
- 1:34:48Speaker 7: massive effort to clear, but she, needless to say, did.
- 1:34:52Speaker 7: And then made a whole lot more money.
- 1:34:56Speaker 3: She apparently paid like $ 3 million. I don't know. I
- 1:34:59Speaker 3: don't remember the numbers, actually.
- 1:35:02Speaker 7: So I would have to go look all that up,
- 1:35:04Speaker 7: and I don't plan to do that, at least not
- 1:35:06Speaker 7: during the show. Anyway, welcome back to Chris X Radio.
- 1:35:09Speaker 7: Glad to have you here on the program. Which, by
- 1:35:12Speaker 7: the way, for those who follow, tonight is the night.
- 1:35:15Speaker 3: What's her name?
- 1:35:15Speaker 7: Nene Royale, who was on the young 16-year-old Thai girl
- 1:35:19Speaker 7: that just took the America's Got Talent stage by storm here.
- 1:35:24Speaker 3: It was last month. It's performing again tonight. I don't
- 1:35:27Speaker 3: know if they prerecorded. I'm assuming they do. She's performing.
- 1:35:30Speaker 3: There's another talent. I'll watch the viral clips online because
- 1:35:34Speaker 3: I don't watch this show. I don't watch any shows.
- 1:35:38Speaker 7: Anyway, welcome back to Chris X Radio. Glad to have
- 1:35:40Speaker 7: you here with us. Once again, Dolly Parton has passed
- 1:35:42Speaker 7: away at the age of 80.
- 1:35:43Speaker 3: It's sad.
- 1:35:44Speaker 7: I was looking up during the break some of the things.
- 1:35:47Speaker 7: She was on the Porter Wagner show, and then she
- 1:35:49Speaker 7: had the Dolly show. She was in the movie Dumpling
- 1:35:52Speaker 7: back in 2018.
- 1:35:56Speaker 3: She was in.
- 1:35:58Speaker 7: Santa Stole Our Dog, A Merry Doggone Christmas. I knew
- 1:36:01Speaker 7: she did a few Christmas movies. The year Dolly Parton
- 1:36:04Speaker 7: was my mom's first dog. She was on Dancing with
- 1:36:08Speaker 7: the Stars? Oh, one episode, okay. So she always showed
- 1:36:13Speaker 7: up in lots of things. Christmas at Home, I think
- 1:36:17Speaker 7: that was... Let's see what else. Dolly, 9 to 5,
- 1:36:20Speaker 7: A Smoky Mountain Christmas. I do believe that was the
- 1:36:22Speaker 7: one with the little girl, Best Little Whorehouse in Texas,
- 1:36:26Speaker 7: back in 1982.
- 1:36:27Speaker 3: I don't remember when.
- 1:36:29Speaker 7: The actual Best Little Whorehouse in Texas was shut down
- 1:36:32Speaker 7: by Marvin Zindler.
- 1:36:35Speaker 3: I think that was... In the early 70s? I don't know.
- 1:36:38Speaker 3: I was too young to really understand that. I remember
- 1:36:42Speaker 3: the movie. I really enjoyed the movie. So that was fun.
- 1:36:46Speaker 7: I really enjoyed 9 to 5. That was a great
- 1:36:47Speaker 7: movie as well. So she was in Transamerica.
- 1:36:52Speaker 3: She was a songwriter. Okay. I don't know that one.
- 1:36:54Speaker 3: In Olive, that movie. I didn't remember.
- 1:36:57Speaker 7: Outliers and Outlaws. She did the soundtrack for in 2024.
- 1:37:01Speaker 7: Christmas on the Square.
- 1:37:02Speaker 3: So she did a few.
- 1:37:03Speaker 7: And then, of course, once again, the Porter Wagner Show.
- 1:37:05Speaker 7: I know she did stuff with Kenny Rogers.
- 1:37:08Speaker 3: Very talented.
- 1:37:09Speaker 7: And she passed away, I guess, either yesterday or today.
- 1:37:12Speaker 7: It was announced by her nephew, Brian Seaver. So how
- 1:37:17Speaker 7: will you remember Dolly Parton? I know how I'll remember her.
- 1:37:21Speaker 22: 281-558-KSCV.
- 1:37:21Speaker 5: 281-558-5738.
- 1:37:21Speaker 3: I'll remember her as an amazingly talented singer.
- 1:37:31Speaker 7: Great voice, amazingly talented songwriter, a good guitar player, performer,
- 1:37:36Speaker 7: a good actress. She was good in everything she was in.
- 1:37:41Speaker 7: And one of the kindest, sweetest ladies in show business.
- 1:37:45Speaker 7: So just very talented. She always embraced the caricature of herself.
- 1:37:49Speaker 7: She always had a very good sense of humor. And
- 1:37:52Speaker 7: as David, who was ashamed of his own self because
- 1:37:55Speaker 7: he couldn't contain himself. Hope you go hang your head
- 1:37:58Speaker 7: in shame, David. But even I, like I said, I
- 1:38:03Speaker 7: agree with his assessment. She was a great lady. She
- 1:38:05Speaker 7: did a lot for charity and working with kids. She
- 1:38:08Speaker 7: clearly cared about children. I don't think she ever had
- 1:38:11Speaker 7: any children of her own. So, but she did have
- 1:38:17Speaker 7: nieces and nephews and had a big extended family. And
- 1:38:22Speaker 7: she did just so much good stuff. And then there
- 1:38:23Speaker 7: was Dollywood and you just name it. It's just one
- 1:38:26Speaker 7: of those times. Like I said, there's other stuff we
- 1:38:28Speaker 7: can talk about and I'll get into that.
- 1:38:30Speaker 14: Now.
- 1:38:30Speaker 7: But like I said, I would be remiss if we
- 1:38:32Speaker 7: didn't celebrate the life of Dolly Parton on the show today.
- 1:38:35Speaker 7: Similar to what happened when Frank Beard from ZZ Top
- 1:38:38Speaker 7: passed away. And there's a weird connection there. She did
- 1:38:41Speaker 7: the best little whorehouse in Texas, starred in the movie,
- 1:38:43Speaker 7: Burt Reynolds and Dom DeLuise. And ZZ Top did the
- 1:38:47Speaker 7: song LaGrange, which is what that movie was based upon.
- 1:38:51Speaker 3: That shack outside LaGrange, you know, so.
- 1:38:56Speaker 7: Apparently Andy, when his little kid was driving around, driving
- 1:38:58Speaker 7: by there. So there's one on Sealy. I didn't, I
- 1:39:02Speaker 7: don't remember that one. I guess I never saw it
- 1:39:04Speaker 7: when it was hopping. I don't know.
- 1:39:06Speaker 3: Went on many a road trip with my dad.
- 1:39:08Speaker 7: Heading out to West Texas, either to Austin or, man,
- 1:39:11Speaker 7: we went all over the place when we were kids.
- 1:39:14Speaker 7: I look back at those times really being a kid,
- 1:39:17Speaker 7: just going on these road trips and seeing the hill
- 1:39:20Speaker 7: country and going to San Antonio and Austin and, you
- 1:39:24Speaker 7: name it. I remember going out to, was it San
- 1:39:25Speaker 7: Angelo and, and just going through and seeing this great nation. I,
- 1:39:30Speaker 7: you know, my dad wasn't born here. He was born
- 1:39:32Speaker 7: in Pennsylvania, but he got to Texas as soon as
- 1:39:35Speaker 7: he could. And once he got to Texas, he never left.
- 1:39:40Speaker 7: The only time he left Texas was to be buried
- 1:39:43Speaker 7: back in a, there is a, um, uh, a cemetery
- 1:39:47Speaker 7: up in Pennsylvania and his hometown, which is nothing but
- 1:39:51Speaker 7: relatives of ours, uh, And that's where he wanted to
- 1:39:54Speaker 7: be buried. He bought his lots and stuff up there.
- 1:39:55Speaker 7: So him and my mom, they were both cremated, but
- 1:39:59Speaker 7: their ashes are buried up there.
- 1:40:01Speaker 3: But that was the only time.
- 1:40:03Speaker 7: So he finished out all his living days right here
- 1:40:06Speaker 7: in Texas.
- 1:40:09Speaker 3: All right, so I want to get to this here
- 1:40:10Speaker 3: before we have to take a break.
- 1:40:11Speaker 7: Okay, so the Supreme Court lifted this judge's block on
- 1:40:13Speaker 7: President Trump's executive order adding to mail-in voting requirements. This
- 1:40:20Speaker 7: removes this roadblock that was preventing the policy from going
- 1:40:23Speaker 7: into effect for the midterms over the public dissents of
- 1:40:26Speaker 7: the three liberal justices. The high court said Monday that
- 1:40:30Speaker 7: the judge had no authority to block Trump's directive. at
- 1:40:34Speaker 7: least ahead of the U.S. Postal Service implementing the new
- 1:40:36Speaker 7: ballot standards. We had a phone call regarding this yesterday
- 1:40:39Speaker 7: on the program.
- 1:40:40Speaker 3: Federal courts review final rules, not proposed rules, and certainly
- 1:40:46Speaker 3: not antecedent internal directives to propose a rule.
- 1:40:51Speaker 7: If the Postal Service's final rule harms the states, they
- 1:40:55Speaker 7: may challenge that rule, the court wrote. It allows Trump
- 1:40:58Speaker 7: to move closer to implementing his mail-in ballot restrictions for
- 1:41:02Speaker 7: November's contest. In other words, trying to stop the Democrats
- 1:41:05Speaker 7: cheat by mail, which is what they do. Or let
- 1:41:08Speaker 7: me rephrase that to stop anybody's cheat by mail. But
- 1:41:12Speaker 7: I think we're all pretty much clear. It's the Democrats
- 1:41:14Speaker 7: that are doing that. But now the Postal Service announced
- 1:41:18Speaker 7: its final regulation last week and the state has already
- 1:41:21Speaker 7: begun or the states have already begun a new push
- 1:41:24Speaker 7: to try and block it.
- 1:41:25Speaker 3: Guess he's trying to do that. Democrats, why do they.
- 1:41:28Speaker 7: Work so hard to stop any sort of integrity regarding elections?
- 1:41:34Speaker 7: In dissent, the courts of liberal justices said they would
- 1:41:36Speaker 7: have kept the block in place. So the Supreme Court
- 1:41:39Speaker 7: is extremely politicized now. The lefties always dissent. And the
- 1:41:47Speaker 7: conservatives and, quote, common sense minded ones.
- 1:41:52Speaker 3: Anyway, we shall see. All right. 281558 KCV.
- 1:41:55Speaker 7: Let's go pick up with Mark listening in Cyprus here
- 1:41:57Speaker 7: before we have to break. Mark, thank you for hanging on.
- 1:41:59Speaker 7: Welcome to Chris X Radio.
- 1:42:02Speaker 8: Dang, that was quick, Chris.
- 1:42:03Speaker 12: Holy cow.
- 1:42:04Speaker 8: Man.
- 1:42:05Speaker 3: Got to you fast today. I mean, C.J.
- 1:42:08Speaker 4: Padre, brother.
- 1:42:10Speaker 1: C.J.
- 1:42:11Speaker 3: Padre.
- 1:42:14Speaker 8: Man, I remember, I remember seeing Dolly on Johnny Carson. Man,
- 1:42:18Speaker 8: she was just a wonderful woman all around. I'm a
- 1:42:23Speaker 8: Cowboys fan, so I remember, what, like three, four years ago,
- 1:42:26Speaker 8: she did the halftime performance at Thanksgiving, and she's in
- 1:42:29Speaker 8: a Dallas Cowboys cheerleading uniform. I'm like, good Lord, what
- 1:42:33Speaker 8: can this woman not do? And, um, and then, and then,
- 1:42:39Speaker 8: you know, I remember like on Johnny Carson, when she, we,
- 1:42:41Speaker 8: this was back in the seventies or eighties, eighties. And, and,
- 1:42:45Speaker 8: you know, Johnny just kind of like, you know, the
- 1:42:47Speaker 8: way it was back then, it was this good humor.
- 1:42:49Speaker 19: She took it.
- 1:42:50Speaker 8: She laughed the whole way. She's like going, Johnny, I
- 1:42:52Speaker 8: think made a joke, like going, would I love for
- 1:42:55Speaker 8: one day to be your brassiere? I would love one
- 1:42:57Speaker 8: day to be your brassiere. And he says, you know,
- 1:43:00Speaker 8: and I mean, and you know, I mean, And back
- 1:43:02Speaker 8: in the day, they'd say, you know, Ed and Johnny,
- 1:43:04Speaker 8: they had some alcohol in their cup and they're drinking it.
- 1:43:06Speaker 8: They're just having a good time. I mean, that was
- 1:43:08Speaker 8: a good time back then. And she just started laughing
- 1:43:12Speaker 8: and everything. Like you said, she just absorbed it. She goes, hey,
- 1:43:15Speaker 8: I know when I apply these things on here, I'm
- 1:43:17Speaker 8: going to get some comments. I understand that.
- 1:43:20Speaker 4: And she did.
- 1:43:21Speaker 8: And 9 to 5 was the best. If you don't know,
- 1:43:24Speaker 8: Dagny Coleman, by the way, is still alive at like
- 1:43:27Speaker 8: 97 years old.
- 1:43:29Speaker 3: Oh, wow, I thought he passed away. I didn't know
- 1:43:30Speaker 3: he was still alive.
- 1:43:31Speaker 2: Wow.
- 1:43:32Speaker 8: Well, no, you could be right. I remember he was
- 1:43:34Speaker 8: on an episode. My wife watches this stuff. And I said,
- 1:43:36Speaker 8: is that Nessie Coleman? She goes, yeah, he's still alive.
- 1:43:39Speaker 2: He's like 95.
- 1:43:39Speaker 19: And I'm like, holy crap.
- 1:43:41Speaker 8: And I mean, that was a great movie back in
- 1:43:43Speaker 8: the day. And that was real life, too. And that
- 1:43:46Speaker 8: was real life.
- 1:43:48Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:43:49Speaker 8: But yeah, Best Little Whorehouse in Texas. And then your
- 1:43:51Speaker 8: one guy that called in about the one in Sealy,
- 1:43:55Speaker 8: there was a couple of them.
- 1:43:57Speaker 4: They're like.
- 1:43:58Speaker 8: They were, back in the day, they were, you flash
- 1:44:00Speaker 8: your headlights in the parking lot. And I wasn't alive then,
- 1:44:03Speaker 8: so I had no, but this is what I understood.
- 1:44:06Speaker 8: You flash your headlights in the parking lot, and they
- 1:44:08Speaker 8: tell you to come in, and there's called a wagon wheel.
- 1:44:11Speaker 8: And they had sister stores. They had one in Dickinson,
- 1:44:14Speaker 8: and they had one in Seeley. And I tried to
- 1:44:17Speaker 8: ask my dad about this. My dad's 80, 81. And
- 1:44:20Speaker 8: my dad's like going, yeah, I don't know anything about this.
- 1:44:23Speaker 8: I'm like going, are you serious, Dad?
- 1:44:25Speaker 10: You sure?
- 1:44:26Speaker 8: And he's like, no, I don't know anything about this.
- 1:44:29Speaker 8: And so I asked my uncle, who's 75, I said,
- 1:44:31Speaker 8: do you know?
- 1:44:32Speaker 19: He goes, oh, yeah, it was around.
- 1:44:34Speaker 8: Yeah, I did it. And between me and you, yeah,
- 1:44:37Speaker 8: I went out there one day going, okay, thank you.
- 1:44:39Speaker 19: I just wanted to know.
- 1:44:40Speaker 15: All right.
- 1:44:43Speaker 3: Got a little more info than you were looking for.
- 1:44:45Speaker 3: You weren't quite ready.
- 1:44:45Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:44:46Speaker 3: By the way.
- 1:44:46Speaker 2: I'm like, oh, yeah.
- 1:44:47Speaker 22: Yeah.
- 1:44:49Speaker 7: I looked up, Dabney Coleman did pass away in 2024.
- 1:44:53Speaker 3: But he lived well into his 90s. I believe he
- 1:44:56Speaker 3: was 92 years older.
- 1:44:56Speaker 8: He was still active up until he died.
- 1:44:59Speaker 3: No, he was. He was alive up until he died. No,
- 1:45:01Speaker 3: I'm just kidding. Thank you for the call, Mark. I
- 1:45:04Speaker 3: appreciate it. We need to take a break here before
- 1:45:06Speaker 3: we run out of time. That's funny. Some of these
- 1:45:10Speaker 3: houses of ill repute. You know, what do they call it?
- 1:45:14Speaker 3: Is it the oldest business in the world? I can't
- 1:45:17Speaker 3: remember the.
- 1:45:21Speaker 3: I can't remember the term they use for it, but
- 1:45:23Speaker 3: it's been around a long time.
- 1:45:25Speaker 13: Sure.
- 1:45:25Speaker 7: It'll be around a whole lot longer, especially, you know,
- 1:45:28Speaker 7: when it comes, the Babylon beast at apocalypse draws near
- 1:45:32Speaker 7: his last remaining universally beloved human being passes away, losing
- 1:45:37Speaker 7: Dolly Parton. So the Babylon be keeping it classy. Oh,
- 1:45:41Speaker 7: there you go.
- 1:45:42Speaker 12: All right.
- 1:45:42Speaker 7: Thanks for the call, Mark. I appreciate it. Uh, yeah,
- 1:45:45Speaker 7: that's what's good. That's all before my times. And then
- 1:45:48Speaker 7: thanks a lot, Marvin Zindler.
- 1:45:53Speaker 3: 281-558-KSEB. We'll be right back to wrap up today's show.
- 1:45:56Speaker 3: Don't you go anywhere.

- 1:46:38Speaker 31: And is it the size they tell us it is?
- 1:46:40Speaker 31: Did 9-11 happen the way we were told? Are pharmaceutical
- 1:46:44Speaker 31: companies really there to cure diseases? Who are doctors trained by?
- 1:46:48Speaker 31: Did God create everything on Earth that we need to
- 1:46:50Speaker 31: stay healthy? Is fluoride in our water really helping us?
- 1:46:53Speaker 31: What are those long trails of clouds left by airplanes
- 1:46:57Speaker 31: and what's in them? Did all the astronauts die in
- 1:46:59Speaker 31: the Space Shuttle Challenger explosion? And is Elvis really dead?

- 1:48:13Speaker 31: Our country's founding fathers drafted a document that is the
- 1:48:16Speaker 31: Declaration of Independence. We hold these truths to be self-evident,
- 1:48:20Speaker 31: that all men are created equal, that they are endowed
- 1:48:23Speaker 31: by their creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these.
- 1:48:27Speaker 3: Are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
- 1:48:29Speaker 31: To secure these rights, governments are instituted among men, deriving
- 1:48:33Speaker 31: their powers from the consent of the governed. My friends
- 1:48:36Speaker 31: at O'Hare & Company Real Estate, we believe we're at
- 1:48:38Speaker 31: our precipice in time where we must take back our country.
- 1:48:41Speaker 31: We must stand up for our freedoms or lose them forever.
- 1:48:44Speaker 31: Please don't sit idle and let it slip away. Don't
- 1:48:46Speaker 31: let anyone force you to do something you choose not to.
- 1:48:50Speaker 31: As JFK said, if not us, who?
- 1:48:52Speaker 3: If not now, when?

- 1:48:59Speaker 3: I'm Kevin O'Hara.
- 1:49:00Speaker 31: God bless America, and God bless Texas. And now, back
- 1:49:03Speaker 31: to Chris X Radio.
- 1:49:03Speaker 3: Chris X Radio.
- 1:49:04Speaker 31: On the voice of Texas.
- 1:49:38Speaker 7: Welcome back to Chris X Radio. You reached the final
- 1:49:41Speaker 7: segment of today's program. I'm the aforementioned X-Man. Appreciate the call.
- 1:49:47Speaker 7: Was it Mark in the last segment?
- 1:49:49Speaker 3: That was entertaining.
- 1:49:50Speaker 7: All right, as we wrap up today's program, once again,
- 1:49:55Speaker 7: shout out to, like I said, all the fans of
- 1:49:57Speaker 7: Dolly Parton. She's passed away at the age of 80.
- 1:50:00Speaker 7: She'll be extremely missed. Very talented, was a national treasure.
- 1:50:04Speaker 7: Universally loved for the most part. Like I said, the
- 1:50:06Speaker 7: only people who didn't love Dolly were the people that
- 1:50:07Speaker 7: were jealous. Her talent or just, I mean, she, once again,
- 1:50:12Speaker 7: a very talented singer, songwriter, musician, performer, actress, and known
- 1:50:19Speaker 7: as one of the kindest, sweetest ladies on the planet
- 1:50:21Speaker 7: and in show business. She made a lot of money
- 1:50:25Speaker 7: and she turned around a lot of that money and
- 1:50:28Speaker 7: put it back towards the community and helping out the
- 1:50:30Speaker 7: less fortunate. It just was a tremendously kind individual. The
- 1:50:35Speaker 7: difference between her, I guess, and the Democrat Party is
- 1:50:38Speaker 7: the Democrat Party wants to do that with your money.
- 1:50:42Speaker 7: By the way, I want to wrap up today's show.
- 1:50:44Speaker 7: So state representative and current U.S. Senate candidate James Tallarico,
- 1:50:48Speaker 7: the Democrat nominee, has filed a bill to place diversity,
- 1:50:53Speaker 7: equity and inclusion officers at every large public school district.
- 1:50:57Speaker 7: The bill describes four duties for the officer. One, lead
- 1:51:01Speaker 7: the district's efforts to establish and sustain a culture of diversity, equity,
- 1:51:05Speaker 7: inclusion for all students by addressing systemic inequities that lead
- 1:51:10Speaker 7: to differences in student achievement. Number two, support continuing education
- 1:51:17Speaker 7: and training related.
- 1:51:18Speaker 3: To diversity, equity, inclusion.
- 1:51:20Speaker 7: We need to make sure we keep that diversity, equity, inclusion,
- 1:51:23Speaker 7: make sure that people are in order to keep their jobs.
- 1:51:27Speaker 3: Number three, develop.
- 1:51:28Speaker 7: District policies, practices, and programs that champion the individual cultures, talents, abilities, languages,
- 1:51:34Speaker 7: and interests of each student. And number four, ensure that
- 1:51:38Speaker 7: each student receives the necessary opportunities and resources to meet
- 1:51:42Speaker 7: the student's unique abilities and aspirations. This is sort of
- 1:51:50Speaker 7: incongruent with the governor's and the state with what they're
- 1:51:53Speaker 7: trying to do, because we believe every child should be
- 1:51:56Speaker 7: entitled to good things, not just people of certain ethnicities
- 1:52:02Speaker 7: or religions.
- 1:52:05Speaker 3: It's kind of ridiculous.
- 1:52:07Speaker 7: If passed into law, the bill would only apply to
- 1:52:11Speaker 7: larger school districts, the big ones. School districts defined as
- 1:52:15Speaker 7: small or mid-sized, according to the Texas Education Code, would
- 1:52:18Speaker 7: be exempt from But they're trying to tie it in
- 1:52:23Speaker 7: with the ADA, the American Disabilities Act. And once again,
- 1:52:27Speaker 7: this is coming from James Tallarico, who has a job.
- 1:52:30Speaker 3: I guess his job is diversity, equity, inclusion.
- 1:52:33Speaker 7: He works for some company that apparently pays him a
- 1:52:36Speaker 7: lot of money because he only makes about, what, $ 6, 000
- 1:52:38Speaker 7: or $ 7, 000 as a state rep, and you can't live
- 1:52:40Speaker 7: on that. You darn sure can't buy your own house
- 1:52:44Speaker 7: for that.
- 1:52:44Speaker 3: I guess maybe he did. I don't know. Or at
- 1:52:53Speaker 3: least he... No, we know he's getting money elsewhere.
- 1:52:57Speaker 7: Because he bought a house and then continued to vote
- 1:53:01Speaker 7: from his mama's house to make sure he could run
- 1:53:04Speaker 7: in a certain district for the next few years.
- 1:53:09Speaker 3: And there you go.
- 1:53:10Speaker 7: Maybe he should work for the WNBA. They said Ennis Cantor, Freedom,
- 1:53:15Speaker 7: and Royce White are not eligible to play.
- 1:53:17Speaker 5: Hmm. Hmm.
- 1:53:18Speaker 3: So much for their diversity. All right, gang, we're done.
- 1:53:21Speaker 3: Joe Pax is up next.
- 1:53:23Speaker 7: We'll be back tomorrow, God willing, for our hump day
- 1:53:26Speaker 7: edition of the program.
- 1:53:27Speaker 3: Be safe. We'll see you tomorrow.
