- 2:07You like it, tender, You see it. You hear that?
- 2:09Anyways, ladies and gentlemen, for the first time on job in the
- 2:12mouth, we are now talking to former 12 year Pro Bowl running
- 2:16back. I'm on Green.
- 2:18What's up, Mr. Green? Not much how you guys doing
- 2:22we're? Good, man.
- 2:22We're cool. We're collective.
- 2:24You know, it's, it's funny, I call you Mr. Green because we've
- 2:27had a couple of greens on this show and I like, I like the
- 2:30color green. I think we all like the color
- 2:32green, especially if it's in my pocket.
- 2:35Of course we could only. Hold.
- 2:36You know, we could only not going to turn down green green
- 2:38like that. Nobody would.
- 2:39When he's in my pocket. That's absolutely true.
- 2:41And Speaking of green, your Green Bay Packers, I mean, it
- 2:46starts with the IT starts with green and it ends with the Pack.
- 2:50But here's the problem with the Green Bay Packers.
- 2:52My friend Michael Parsons goes down this team all season long,
- 2:56they had their UPS and their downs.
- 2:58Everybody thought that at the end of the season, maybe they
- 3:01should fire the coach. But you heard what Love said at
- 3:05the press conference. Why we talking about this?
- 3:07We just lost. We just got knocked out of the
- 3:09playoffs. I don't want to talk about who
- 3:11the coach of the team. I want to talk about why we
- 3:13didn't win this game. Why do you think the Green Bay
- 3:16Packers this year couldn't make that next step?
- 3:20Experience, you know, watching the playoffs for all teams, but
- 3:24for my team in particular, you know, seeing Jordan, the
- 3:27offense, even coach Lafleur, you know, even though he's had
- 3:31they've had the success since he's been in the head coaching
- 3:34job and then Jordan at the quarterback position since
- 3:36Aaron's left. It's a thing called experience
- 3:39where playing in certain games, you, you kind of know what you
- 3:42have to mentally prepare for. So these athletes physically are
- 3:45there. It's the mental side when you're
- 3:47actually going into a rival divisional game where this is
- 3:51the third time you first deface the team and then it didn't go
- 3:54good the last time. So you have that going on.
- 3:58But then now you start off fast, first half of this game, the
- 4:02playoff game and then second-half, not much going with
- 4:05the offensive side of the ball. And so that's between, you know,
- 4:08coastal floor and I say the players on that team from the
- 4:12play calling, executing and not being I say having that
- 4:15something a word. I say a phrase that we said a
- 4:18whole lot, a sense of urgency, just having that.
- 4:21That's the lack of of that. You know, that's what that game
- 4:23was about. And the Bears turned it on.
- 4:25They knew they had to you know what they they figured out what
- 4:28they needed to do and they already had that experience from
- 4:30the previous game when they beat them and shows your field just a
- 4:33few weeks, you know, prior. So that right there was the edge
- 4:37that Chicago had going into that game and then finishing the game
- 4:41because they had already finished the game before and
- 4:43beat my Packers. So it's just now mentally, I
- 4:47tell, I say people, I tell people all the time, You know,
- 4:49this game is not a hard game to play physically when you match
- 4:53up evenly. It just comes down to who is
- 4:55thinking clearer and then has that emotional push at the right
- 4:59time to then execute and not hesitate in any thought process
- 5:04from blocking to throwing a pass to catching the ball.
- 5:07You know, not all that anxiousness and nervousness that
- 5:09comes in to that might make you pause.
- 5:12That's where the game is won and lost and it's that close.
- 5:15It's just a fine line. It wasn't nothing where it was,
- 5:17Oh my God, it was this margin of this much that the, you know,
- 5:20the Packers lost by or they should have won by.
- 5:23It's just now they have that experience clocked in.
- 5:26So what's going to be interesting is this next coming
- 5:27seasons and the season to come where Jordan Love and that
- 5:30Packers offense, along with the defense is going to be facing
- 5:33with Caleb. And they got experience.
- 5:35It's going. So we're going to see some
- 5:36battles, you know, coming up in the next few years between these
- 5:38young teams because they're still young and they got young
- 5:41leaders, you know, in terms of the quarterback position and the
- 5:44head coach position, you know, be between Ben and mad and
- 5:47already the animosity that's been created by phantom
- 5:50handshakes or whatever you want to call it.
- 5:52And then the Packer Packer fans where I had to get on my fan
- 5:54base a little bit because I'm like, you don't raise a petition
- 5:57for another coach to apologize to another coach.
- 5:59No, we we got to be grown ass men and women and take AL like
- 6:02AL, you know, we took the L. That's it.
- 6:04You know, I never went over down to Chicago and say Urlacher,
- 6:07hey, man, we got to get the position.
- 6:09Y'all didn't win that lap. No, Take that like a grown
- 6:12person and call it a. Day Aman you, you have a guy
- 6:15like Tucker Craft who was becoming a superstar this year.
- 6:19He was the best tied in throughout the first half of the
- 6:23season. He was unstoppable.
- 6:24He had that game that he had three touchdowns.
- 6:27He was putting up ridiculous numbers as a tight end.
- 6:30He he was looking at like like the next Travis Kelsey, the next
- 6:33George Kittle. I mean, he was playing that kind
- 6:35of football. And then having the injury that
- 6:37he had and being knocked out of the season, I definitely believe
- 6:41it hurt the development, development of this offense this
- 6:44year. Jordan Love, who was really
- 6:46Tucker Craft was his his go to guy really throughout this
- 6:50season. Losing him at the tail end of
- 6:52the season really affected him. Why do you think Tucker Craft is
- 6:56that type of player? And he's the guy, He's the go to
- 6:58guy moving forward IN20002627? Aw, man.
- 7:02Because he has the talent. I mean, he has the mental, he
- 7:04has the physical. He's a dude, as I call it in my
- 7:07book. You know, guys that know how to
- 7:09get on the football field and they draw attention.
- 7:12And then even if they draw the attention, you can't stop them.
- 7:15That feeling for a defensive player is dismantling.
- 7:17And I love it when I see it when when I see the I remember when I
- 7:21used to look across the offense of the defensive line or
- 7:23offensive line and see Warren Sepp get that kickstand.
- 7:25He put that hand on the hip. He breathing hard.
- 7:27I'm like, we got him, We got game over.
- 7:29And so that's, you know, that's the type of dude that Tucker is.
- 7:32You know, when you get him doing tight end reverses, he's part of
- 7:35the tish push now. You know, he's holding on to the
- 7:38rock. That saves Jordan from getting
- 7:39banged up doing that. So that's a bonus there.
- 7:42And he just had that mentality once I saw the film of when he
- 7:45got drafted, you know, a couple years ago, I said, oh, they got
- 7:48to do. I saw him catching the ball and
- 7:50running and stiff forming. And what you see right there on
- 7:53on film, right there against the Rams, he was doing that at SDU.
- 7:56So I'm like Rs and SDU state. I was like I said, Oh, we got a
- 8:00we got to do. So I'm excited about him and how
- 8:03he develops and the injury. It's just a bump in the road.
- 8:06He's going to come back full goal another.
- 8:09And then that weapon, you know, another weapon for Jordan's
- 8:11arsenal that has a bunch of young ride receivers that are
- 8:14hungry. You got a young veteran running
- 8:16back with Josh Jacobs and I love his style.
- 8:18I say I'm a little taller than him.
- 8:20So that makes that's only makes the difference between him and
- 8:22I. So he's I could say many me, but
- 8:24he's he's a big man on campus running the ball.
- 8:28And I like that because then the offense is not just one one way
- 8:31balanced. You know, it's not just running
- 8:33heavy. You got to you got to stop the
- 8:35pass. And if you don't, you know what
- 8:37we going to beat you up in the middle between the A&B gaps with
- 8:40with Josh and Emmanuel Wilson as well.
- 8:42He coming off the bench to running, running the ball very
- 8:44well. You know, the one part that that
- 8:47was I say kind of the sucky part of the end is Zach, Tom and Lee
- 8:51Davis from the free agent from San Francisco having the
- 8:54injuries that slowed them up. You know, that was something
- 8:57that as a pro and at any level, you know, when you have key
- 9:00players beat up, you see the difference on the football field
- 9:04of, of how effective they are. You know, when they're 50%, you
- 9:08know, out there just trying to get it going to when they're
- 9:11100%. So you saw that towards the end
- 9:12of the season. I want to go to the team you
- 9:14started your career with, the Seattle Seahawks, obviously
- 9:16winning the Super Bowl MVP, being a running back in Kenneth
- 9:18Walker, your position now there's a discussion of whether
- 9:21they re sign him or not. He wants 13 million a year.
- 9:23Obviously the running back contract market has not been
- 9:25great. What are your impressions?
- 9:27Obviously, the Seahawks dominance with the Super Bowl,
- 9:29for one, with their defense and their running game and with
- 9:31running back contracts in general across the NFL.
- 9:33I'll say yeah, with my impression of the game.
- 9:35Amazing. I knew both teams had defenses,
- 9:38but I didn't realize they were ranked one and two right behind
- 9:41each other, Right. And you saw the difference,
- 9:44though, and it was basically watching what I watched in
- 9:47person in New York when Seattle played Denver, when Peyton was
- 9:51trying to get another one. And the Legion of Boom said, no,
- 9:54not today. You know, we go get some pick
- 9:57sixes. We go get a K.
- 9:58What's that? KJ running a interception back,
- 10:01right? So that was the same thing.
- 10:03They had the defensive line. They had the linebackers doing
- 10:06their job. And they're, you know, balanced
- 10:08tackling, you know, making plays, getting the ball tipped
- 10:12and just putting pressure on break to where eventually he
- 10:15would he was pushed in a situation where, you know what,
- 10:18I got to throw this ball up to see what happens.
- 10:20You know, that's where the turnovers happen.
- 10:21And then when you when the defense does that, they pretty
- 10:23much got the game in hand. And you know what wasn't much
- 10:26scoring early, but it came later, you know, so I like it.
- 10:29I always liked some from the time he got on the team.
- 10:31Kenny Walker the third he is he's a shifty back and he's a
- 10:35small back, but he runs hard and another.
- 10:37So he's kind of a another throwback guy like Josh Jacobs
- 10:40that we have in Green Bay. So watching him run, it's fun,
- 10:44you know, because he he sets up, he's almost got that Le'veon
- 10:47bell patience where he sets up, takes his time walk through hole
- 10:50and then boom, he's exploding through the hole and he's
- 10:52passing. And that for a defender, trust
- 10:54me, that's a that's a sucky feeling to see the running back
- 10:57get past you and you're like, God bigger.
- 10:59He was right here. It's like, no, he's gone, you
- 11:01know, So that offense along with what a Darnold did, you know,
- 11:07because he helped kept that patience, that experience that
- 11:09he's gained from being a Jet first rounder to a backup 49er.
- 11:13To why are you trying to kill me Amen.
- 11:15Why are you killing me here? You had to mention it.
- 11:18You had to bring up The Jets. You had to every single ex
- 11:22athlete that comes on the show. They got to slip that in.
- 11:25They had to slip the New York. It's business.
- 11:28Got it. I got it.
- 11:29Just we. Just met, OK, We just met.
- 11:31So it's business. It's all business.
- 11:33I'm just freaking facts of what I saw on the field and I'm
- 11:36breaking making it down because what he did in Minnesota and
- 11:40then come to another team and I told this to Josh Jacobs for his
- 11:43first year. I'm like to do what you did come
- 11:45into this team as a Packer and become a Pro Bowl player, not
- 11:49just regardless of his position. That's not an easy thing to do.
- 11:53You know, it took me a couple years when I got traded, then it
- 11:55was in my second year. O1 is be where I became a Pro
- 11:59Bowler. So to do that year one out of
- 12:01the chute, you know, from a team where you got, you know, free
- 12:04agent, let him go from the Raiders and he goes to Green Bay
- 12:07Pro Bowl first year, that's magic.
- 12:08And he did it again this year. So, so no business, always
- 12:12business, just spitting facts. Man, business.
- 12:13No pleasure. I mean no pleasure for me when I
- 12:16hear that. As soon as you bring up The Jets
- 12:18and I can remember Sam Donald getting drafted as the third
- 12:21pick, youngest quarterback ever drafted.
- 12:23And I was so pissed off when The Jets traded him for a two and a
- 12:27four and watch this guy win a Super Bowl and hoist that at
- 12:30Lombardy Trophy. I was like why me?
- 12:33Why me as a Jet fan? As it always is said by the way,
- 12:37for everybody to know, we are talking to former 12 year Pro
- 12:40Bowl running back, a man Green played in from 1998 to 2009 long
- 12:46career with the Seattle Seahawks, the Packers and the
- 12:49Texans. IA lot of fans want to know what
- 12:52type of quarterback Brett Favre is in the locker room and what
- 12:55type of quarterback Aaron Rodgers is.
- 12:59You know, you got a chance to get to know both guys.
- 13:01What type of personalities are both these guys?
- 13:05I say Brett, he is in the locker room the fun.
- 13:08He's a fun going guy. He doesn't like the room
- 13:12temperature to get below 98°. You don't want it to be cold and
- 13:16uncomfortable and nobody having fun.
- 13:19So he played a lot of practical jokes.
- 13:21He had a fart machine on the daily.
- 13:23He will pour water bottle a full thing of cold water on your head
- 13:27just to wake you up or Gatorade to really mess up your practice
- 13:30uniform. That was him and Aaron was the I
- 13:33say more, I say sneaky about the practical joke.
- 13:36He was a joker too, but he would be more inside joke ish, kind of
- 13:42like the new generation is, you know, having inside jokes,
- 13:44laughing amongst a couple of the quarterbacks or what have you.
- 13:48And so but it but it but a solid teammate and somebody that you
- 13:52want to go out there and make sure you're protecting them.
- 13:54As you know, as that was my job. I, I called, I, I, in my head, I
- 13:58was the last line of defense for both guys when they, you know, I
- 14:00played more with Brett, but the few times I had with Aaron, I'm
- 14:03like, I'm, I'm the, I'm the Kevlar, you know, we got the
- 14:07electric fence with the offensive line and I'm not, I'm
- 14:10literally stuck to the, the, the quarterback's body.
- 14:13So I'm, it, I'm the last person that somebody's going to try to
- 14:16walk through to get to the quarterback.
- 14:17So I made sure I protected them both.
- 14:20And I say off the on the field, Brett was one of those guys that
- 14:26he's a physical guy for a quarterback, a guy that you
- 14:29know, he's going to, if you get past a lot of scrimmage, he's
- 14:31going to do something that is going to probably piss the head
- 14:33coach off. He won't throw a block or trying
- 14:36to run somebody over and be like, Brett, save that for me
- 14:39and Dorsey or whoever else is running the ball or bubble
- 14:42catching the ball. Let us do the running.
- 14:44You do the throwing and the reading the coverages and stuff
- 14:47like that. And say, Speaking of cover, just
- 14:49every now and then we have to tell him, hey, man, you can't
- 14:51throw the ball in there. Three guys, you got three giants
- 14:54right there. You have three jets.
- 14:55Don't throw the ball. Throw it to out of bounds or to
- 14:57me. I'm in the flat, wide open, you
- 15:00know. But you love him.
- 15:01And he gave it all he could and he was a big kid.
- 15:04And then Aaron to seeing him when I was with him young and
- 15:07developing preseason ball, he played a lot.
- 15:11We, we had more time then and there.
- 15:12And then obviously training camp, the way he threw the ball
- 15:15in practice, the way I've seen him throw the ball in some of
- 15:17the games I had early with him. And then I see later in O 9, I
- 15:20knew right away, I say, this is the next dude, he just going to
- 15:23have to wait his turn. You know, when he got there, it
- 15:24was O 5 and he didn't get on that field to I say 2008, he was
- 15:29on it a little bit in O 7, but 8 was when Coach McCarthy gave him
- 15:33the keys to the car and we didn't know.
- 15:36It's going to be another 20 years slate and Super Bowl win
- 15:39and all that. But we knew that this is another
- 15:42dude that I'm fortunate for the Packer organization to have
- 15:46decades of another great quarterback.
- 15:48And that just makes it all easier to try to game plan,
- 15:51offense, defense, to make sure that team is doing what they
- 15:54need to do offensively to move the ball.
- 15:56Mike McCarthy just was hired to do a job over there in
- 15:59Pittsburgh, his hometown, his home city, and I love Mike
- 16:03McCarthy. I thought that the Giants should
- 16:05have hired Mike McCarthy if they want to develop a quarterback.
- 16:08Jackson Dart, he developed Aaron Rodgers.
- 16:10He. He's damn good at doing that.
- 16:12Yeah, and Dak Prescott, too. Look at what Dak Prescott's
- 16:15numbers transitioned into when he took over there for the
- 16:17Cowboys. I thought the Giants did a
- 16:19disservice for Jackson Dart. Not that John Horrible's not a
- 16:22great coach. I thought Mike McCarthy was a
- 16:24better fit. What type of coach is Mike
- 16:27McCarthy for all the Pittsburgh fans that get to know who he is?
- 16:31I say coming in first year, usually what he does is he gets
- 16:36to know everybody. He gets to know the lay of the
- 16:37land. He starts off with his in the
- 16:40locker room with his players and then coaches, obviously GM as
- 16:43well. And then he gets to know the
- 16:45town, but he already knows the town.
- 16:47He's one of those townies. He's a townie.
- 16:49He's from that area. So that is going to be his
- 16:53comfort zone. And then once he gets in and
- 16:56introduced himself and everybody, he treats everybody
- 16:58like a man, like a grown ass man.
- 17:01He tells you, shoots you straight.
- 17:02When you want to hear something you want to hear, he's going to
- 17:04say it. When you don't want to hear
- 17:05something you don't want to hear, he's going to shoot you.
- 17:07She's going to tell you, you know, so and and and for me, I
- 17:11didn't want it any other way. I had my mom and dad raised me
- 17:14that way. My dad used to always never beat
- 17:16around the Bush. You know, when I when I was in
- 17:19trouble, I was in trouble. You know, when I needed
- 17:21something corrected, it got corrected.
- 17:23So having coach McCarthy and coaches like him through my
- 17:26throughout my career, from college to pro, Those are the
- 17:29coaches I like the assistants that don't matter this long.
- 17:32You can read me the riot act any time, but coach me help me get
- 17:36better. And that's what he did.
- 17:37We had, I remember my first year with him in O 6.
- 17:41It was just, it was kind of a miscommunication on a few
- 17:43instances where I've misread the schedule, like when we needed to
- 17:47be on a practice field, but right before practice.
- 17:50And if I know you guys heard of Lombardi time just five to 10
- 17:53minutes before. And I remember I came out, I
- 17:56think practice, special team practice was just wrapping up
- 17:59and I was probably like 10 minutes.
- 18:01I was like 5 or two minutes. I was within 5 minutes of our
- 18:05next practice and he comes over to me.
- 18:07He's like AG, I need you to get here a little early.
- 18:10I'm like, I'm on time, though. He's like just a little bit
- 18:13because, you know, the younger guys are watching you, one of
- 18:15our leaders and I'm like, first it kind of bugged me a little
- 18:18bit, but then it clicked like I did with you.
- 18:20I was like, okay, coach, I got you, you know, and it took a
- 18:22little bit for me to get used to that because I was already
- 18:25early. But he wants to get, you know,
- 18:27get there. So he kind of can have the
- 18:29leaders of the team like I was one of them and show the rookies
- 18:32like this is how we do it. We get out there 5-10 minutes
- 18:35early to make sure we have that leadership.
- 18:37Because he knows it's not just him leading the team along with
- 18:40the coaches. It's like it's the players at
- 18:42certain positions that been there for a minute or just shows
- 18:45this is how you play football, This is how you're being for a
- 18:48professional and go out there or practice to then transition over
- 18:52into the game field on Saturdays on preseason ball or Sundays on
- 18:56game day coming the regular season.
- 18:58So last year we had one of your teammates on the show, one of
- 19:00our favorite interviews we ever did that was Leroy Butler.
- 19:03Safety got inducted a few years ago.
- 19:05He actually said great Brett Favre and Reggie Whitestorm.
- 19:07Hall of Famer Speedy Hall. Of.
- 19:09Famer, I said Hall. Of Famer, some respect he got
- 19:12inducted. In the Hall of Fame, three
- 19:13years. Ago, we interviewed him when he
- 19:15was in his car and his son was in the back seat.
- 19:17But we interviewed him, yes, and it was.
- 19:19The best car service any of our guests have ever had.
- 19:21But he also, yeah, it was also funny.
- 19:23He was also making Errol seem like he was like 10 years
- 19:25younger than he was. It was, and it was funny.
- 19:27Like. Like the So what was your
- 19:30experience like with him? He was kind of towards the end
- 19:32of the career when you went to Green Bay, but how was he on and
- 19:35off the field? Oh, he was great guy.
- 19:37He was a solid teammate. And like when I got there in
- 19:392000 and a lot of those guys were still there, part of the
- 19:42Super Bowl team. The 1916, you know, in my head,
- 19:46I was so focused and locked in like when I got traded along
- 19:50with a couple other things like not wanting to go back to the
- 19:52Midwest, but I'm like, I'm going to a place where they've been in
- 19:57the Super Bowls. You know, this team in
- 19:58particular, not the organization, but this these
- 20:0111-12 guys to an offense, 11-12 guys on defense.
- 20:05They just were at 2 Super Bowls. They lost the Denver at one,
- 20:07then the other one they they beat the New England Patriots.
- 20:09So I'm coming into a place where I got to be on my best behavior
- 20:14and I got to be a playing grade A football, like top end
- 20:17football no matter what, even in practice, you know, and my first
- 20:20mini camp, I remember just walking in that huddle.
- 20:23Being a fan, like, man, this is Brett Favre, this is William
- 20:26Henderson, across the ball is Gilbert Brown and then Leroy
- 20:30Butler. He had a couple sacks in the
- 20:32Super Bowl. I was like, OK, man, that means
- 20:33I kind of come out here and be that dude that they expect me to
- 20:37and that's why I got traded here.
- 20:38So that's it started at day one and then the other part that
- 20:42made it easier was the fact they welcomed me in just like I was a
- 20:45part of the game for the last couple years.
- 20:47It was no hazing. It was no, you know, giving me a
- 20:51hard time about anything. And he was like, hey, man, how
- 20:53you doing? You know, you just got traded
- 20:55from Seattle. Hey, so and so was in Seattle
- 20:57and it was all welcoming. So that open arm style from even
- 21:01Dorsey and William Henderson, the running backs, right,
- 21:04running back fullback where obviously as at a place with a
- 21:07great guy, you know, person Ricky Waters.
- 21:10But he knew he had a competitive nature about himself, that he
- 21:13knew that I was the incumbent running back and he knew I was
- 21:16one of those dudes that could push him, you know, and get him
- 21:19out the job. But, you know, it's like I said
- 21:21at the part when I mentioned The Jets, it's business, not
- 21:24personal. And you got to understand that
- 21:27it's a lot of. Personal with the New York Jets,
- 21:28yeah, it's a lot of. Personal, But Dorsey, you know,
- 21:32he took me in, you know, and that helped me in my process of
- 21:36transitioning over as a Packer and get into the the offensive
- 21:39playbook, which was Coach Sherman who was there in Seattle
- 21:42with me. But then brought me over and
- 21:43kept his same verbiage, which is that helped me a whole lot in
- 21:46the next couple years to transition over and become one
- 21:49of the guys at In Green Bay. We are talking to former 12 year
- 21:52Pro Bowler. Yes, Pro Bowl running back on
- 21:55Man Green. Played from 98 to 2009 with the
- 21:59Seahawks, the Packers and the Texans.
- 22:01Mr. Green, 2003 was your greatest year.
- 22:04It was unbelievable. You had 15 touchdowns, you had
- 22:08over 1800 yards. You were unbelievable.
- 22:11You really you were having a Saquon Barkley year where it was
- 22:15just. Unstoppable.
- 22:17Yeah, you were you were sensational and honestly for
- 22:20like a three or four year stand you were the best running back
- 22:23in the league. You can argue you were a top
- 22:24three running back and all of football.
- 22:26That's how good you were. It's an amazing actually.
- 22:28It was four years. That was just back-to-back 2001,
- 22:322002, 2003, 2004. Everybody knew who you were, how
- 22:35dominant you were. What was that trigger that
- 22:37switched you into being an elite running back?
- 22:40What gave you that thought that you can be an elite running back
- 22:44in this league? I knew it.
- 22:45Once I got drafted, it just I was pissed off and I was a third
- 22:48round pick at Seattle. That that's what that's what
- 22:50happened. That's what started it and I
- 22:52became a special teamer because I could, you know, they drafted
- 22:56or they they free agent Ricky Waters in from the Eagles and he
- 22:59was the big money back. So that's why I learned
- 23:01business, right. They going to pay the, you know,
- 23:04the guy who's going to get paid the most is going to get the
- 23:06ball regardless of who's better. I learned that year 1.
- 23:09And so I was like, you know what, all right, I'm going to
- 23:11make this. I'm going to make lemon lemonade
- 23:13out of lemons. I'm not going to be sour puss.
- 23:15Oh, man, I'm not starting. I'm not the guy.
- 23:18You know what? I'm going to go back and bust
- 23:19some heads on this kickoff coverage, you know, make some
- 23:21plays on punt return and then whatever happens, happens.
- 23:25I became the third down back my rookie year.
- 23:28I end up setting a record for conversions of third and one and
- 23:31four foot one my rookie year and then same thing my second year
- 23:35and then boom. That's why Mike Sherman traded
- 23:37for me in the trade with Fred Vincent and a fifth round
- 23:40conditional big, you know, right before the day before the draft
- 23:42and they Seattle. Robbery.
- 23:45Yes, and they drafted Sean Alexander, another great back
- 23:49out of Alabama to Seattle and I get the Green Bay, so even
- 23:52bigger chip on my shoulder like, oh, I see what they'll see, what
- 23:55the game plan was here. You know, I mean, Mike Holman,
- 23:57he labeled me a fumbler and which I knew I wasn't.
- 24:00Sometimes you just have a bad game.
- 24:01Sometimes you have some bad moments as a young player and
- 24:04you get stuff in your head and you got to shake it out and I
- 24:06did. I always knew I so I shook that
- 24:09off and that's why those four years went the way those did.
- 24:12You know things after that, you know, some things going on off
- 24:15the field with my family. So it was kind of distracting a
- 24:17little bit in 05. Tore my quad and all that and
- 24:20but came back 06, got the 1000 yards again and, you know, went
- 24:24free agency, free agent to the Texans.
- 24:27Didn't quite work out there. And that's sometimes the way the
- 24:30ball bounces. But always for like those four
- 24:32years, like you mentioned, it was those between my draft years
- 24:36to then transit into Green Bay. Look, give me an opportunity to
- 24:40prove that a Nebraska running back can do the job of an NFL
- 24:44running back, because that was the question.
- 24:45He's he's a Nebraska back. He's a system guy.
- 24:48He's only got that because they got big hogs up front blocking
- 24:51for him and you got an option offense that's 50 years old.
- 24:54I'm like, damn sure works, you know, So what's the what's the
- 24:57problem? But I wanted to approve all that
- 25:00from all the scouts that looked me over and just thought I was a
- 25:03guy that couldn't last four quarters.
- 25:05That wasn't fast. Well, I run a 4140 at my pro
- 25:07day. I don't think a lot of people
- 25:08know that I run a 417 and a 418. And you still think I'm not that
- 25:13dude. But OK, I'll get opportunity to
- 25:15prove it. And when I do, I'm going to hit
- 25:18you with a knife and turn and twist and say, hey, you should
- 25:20have drafted me for everybody that passed me over in the in
- 25:23the 98 draft. That was kind of my mindset for
- 25:26every team I played against. You know what's funny, Because
- 25:29we have a Nebraska guy in Joplin.
- 25:31I was wondering, what does that do mean?
- 25:33It seems like every Nebraska person that we've had on the
- 25:36show that played for Nebraska football or Nebraska sports was
- 25:40like, oh, he's that dude, He's that dude.
- 25:42He's that dude that we actually created a segment, which we're
- 25:45going to call it. He's that dude.
- 25:47So now I'm starting to realize where this is coming from.
- 25:50It's all from the the cornfields in Nebraska, fast.
- 25:53Prince Mukamara, He's that dude. So no, no, he's that dude.
- 25:56I'm that dude. We're all that dude.
- 25:58I, I, that's what I'm starting to read.
- 25:59The running back position has been an important position over
- 26:04the last two years. And we look at the elite running
- 26:07backs in the NFL. And I got a chance to meet
- 26:10Ashton Genti at the Heisman the year before this.
- 26:14Past. And I thought he was the Heisman
- 26:17Trophy winner. I love what he did for Boise.
- 26:19Stayed he he's got a great personality.
- 26:21He was such a likable person. And I thought he got robbed.
- 26:24And then I got a chance to watch him this year with the Raiders.
- 26:27And I think the Raiders didn't use him right.
- 26:29They didn't have the they didn't have the offensive line.
- 26:31Like you said, you needed the beef up there.
- 26:33They didn't really protect him. What do you think a running back
- 26:37going into the NFL needs to know to make them understand the
- 26:42speed of the game in the transition from college to the
- 26:45NFL? That the speed of the game for
- 26:47running back is going to come a lot easier because we are in the
- 26:52thick of it. So we're right in the offensive
- 26:54line in terms of ISO plays, counter outside zone pitch
- 26:58plays, now the RPO action. So you're going to get it early,
- 27:02you know, come preseason ball. And then by that time you played
- 27:05a lot of preseason ball probably like you all say, for example,
- 27:08Gente did because he was that dude, because they had, you
- 27:10know, they had other people behind him, but he would, he was
- 27:12drafted first round for a reason.
- 27:14That makes it easier. And the really the other part is
- 27:17a lot of people don't really, I don't think they see this is the
- 27:19elephant in the room. Run plays are the same from the
- 27:22high school level all the way up to the pro level.
- 27:24That's. True ISO at a high school level,
- 27:26it's the same ISO you run at Nebraska, the same ISO you run
- 27:29at Boise State. To the I say my so you're going
- 27:31to run it. The Raiders power, power gap
- 27:36counter, outside toss outside zone.
- 27:39It's the same footwork. So he's not having to think
- 27:43about, OK, I got to learn cover 3 coverage and I got to learn
- 27:46when they're going to blitz from the backside to the place.
- 27:48What happens on the mug when the linebackers in an A&B get what
- 27:51do I that's past stuff, OK, but you can live and learn and make
- 27:56mistakes, but then pick it up fast.
- 27:58But the run game, what we already do is we've been doing
- 28:01it for 1215 years since Little League.
- 28:03I don't think a lot of people miss that.
- 28:04I'm like a lot of the run in Little League.
- 28:08I was running at Green Bay, I was running at Seattle, I was
- 28:11running at the Texans. So that means for 30 plus years
- 28:14I've been doing this since I was yay high to a grasshopper.
- 28:17So it's like, OK, you know, but for the quarterback position,
- 28:20that's a whole different thing, right?
- 28:21You know, you got players from the players to the DCS that are
- 28:25disguising coverages. They're cheating, making a cover
- 28:28three look like a cover 1. You know, it's all that for us.
- 28:31The run game is like, okay, you run, you get the ball, you read
- 28:34your blocks just like we did. And 5th grade, you watch the
- 28:38double team up to the linebacker, then you make your
- 28:39cut off of that. Nothing changes.
- 28:41So if you have the talent and you know that going into every
- 28:45game plan, then you're going to do things that everybody's going
- 28:48to be like, Oh my God, why is he doing that?
- 28:49I'm like oh cuz I paid attention.
- 28:51Oh, I got it. So Armand Green is telling you
- 28:54all, all the players out there that want to get into football,
- 28:57be a running back. So if you have the athletic
- 29:00ability and you don't really have to know anything, just
- 29:02learn what you're learning in high school and peewee football
- 29:05and you're going to do that you. Do have you do have to know
- 29:09something? I'll say that one.
- 29:10I say after that, after that, was it Mark?
- 29:14You got to be the hammer, not the nail.
- 29:16There you go. All right, don't, don't be
- 29:18somebody that absorbs hits. Give it out.
- 29:22If you're going to be a runner, be that dude.
- 29:24Be like, OK, I want to make it a problem.
- 29:27I want to make the defenders not want to be around me, basically.
- 29:30And I remember one game he was, it was my Seattle, Seattle
- 29:34couple years, I can't remember what game, rookie year maybe.
- 29:37And we played against when they were still the Houston Oilers,
- 29:39not at Tennessee Titans. And Max Strong, my full back,
- 29:44you remember that name? Great full back, great full
- 29:47back, great guy off the field, family man, awesome dude, great
- 29:50full back on the field. And he had one and he went to
- 29:53Georgia. We played the Oilers and one of
- 29:55the guys on the Oilers was his teammate at Georgia was a
- 29:58linebacker. I can't remember who it was, but
- 30:00I remember Matt comes up and grabs me on the shoulder after
- 30:03we're walking in. He's like AG, he said.
- 30:06I don't know what you did, but one of my boys I went to college
- 30:08with said till #30 to slow his ass down.
- 30:11He's running too fast and hard. I'm like me.
- 30:15You're doing it right, man. You're right.
- 30:17I mean. I said I'm back.
- 30:19I can't do that. I'm I'm fed.
- 30:20I'm pedal to the metal for four quarters.
- 30:22I know I'm not. I was even.
- 30:23I was just on special teams dead blocking people in the tackle.
- 30:26And he's like, slow down. I'm like, I ain't slowing down.
- 30:28I ain't getting cut. What's your problem?
- 30:29You better speed up with me. Come on.
- 30:31There you go, You know. Keep up with the Greenster.
- 30:34Yeah, exactly. My last question I'm on Nathan
- 30:37was telling me you do a lot of stuff since you've retired from
- 30:40the league with gaming. You actually caught taught at
- 30:42Lakeland University a actually an E sports class.
- 30:45You have your own gaming company now and you've also done some
- 30:47broadcasting work, so talk about some of the stuff you've done
- 30:49off. The field man, a little bit of
- 30:51everything. So yeah, I coached at Lakeland
- 30:52University for almost 2 years where I first semester was a
- 30:57Madden Championship national title.
- 30:59Curtis Dokey. Shout out to my man Curtis Dokey
- 31:01who was the player that I coached. 13 and no season and we
- 31:04beat, I believe, Mr. Mcgiggles from Carthage College and in the
- 31:09NECC for a national title. Second, we were runner up the
- 31:13second semester in the fall. And then about 12 or 13 playoff
- 31:18bursts between Overwatch, Call of Duty, Fortnite players, FIFA,
- 31:22Super Smash Brothers, Rowing Boat 6, Siege, League of
- 31:25Legends, all those games. I've been a gamer since the age
- 31:28of 5. My dad did that because he was
- 31:31APC guy. He was a guy at a aviation
- 31:34facility in north of California in South Central LA or Northup
- 31:38Aviation, which is similar to Boeing.
- 31:41And that's when it started for me.
- 31:42And so now I've turned it into a the next passion, just like
- 31:45football. I love doing it.
- 31:46I love video games, but also I love the part that relates to
- 31:49football or baseball. Basketball is the team aspect
- 31:53and some of the skills you learn, you know, accountability,
- 31:55you know, dedication, hard work. When you think about video
- 31:59games, you probably don't think that because you think about
- 32:01Pac-Man and some of the retro games.
- 32:03Legend of Zelda, Yeah, those are the fun games.
- 32:05I love. I love Zelda.
- 32:06Love. Yeah, But yeah, you look at the
- 32:08games today that are more competitive, right?
- 32:10Call of Duty, Fortnite, Madden, you know, NBA2K, you know, those
- 32:15games are have they have leagues.
- 32:17So now at the college level, all around America and around the
- 32:19world, they are universities, they're esports organizations
- 32:23that now just like NBA players, just like NFL players, they,
- 32:28they get drafted or they get picked up, they get signed and
- 32:30they got to practice, they got training, they got to work on
- 32:33their mechanics and all that. And so did that at Lakeland,
- 32:36transferred over to Nebraska, had a couple.
- 32:39I started that program there, helped that program get off the
- 32:42ground. And now, you know, I just end up
- 32:45doing my own thing, consulting now on the road.
- 32:47I do E sports camps for kids, middle school, high school, then
- 32:50down to middle school kids to teach them how to, you know,
- 32:53play video games the proper way. You know, when you're going to
- 32:55be in a team setting. Look, you got to hold your own.
- 32:58You got to be accountable for your role.
- 33:00If you're going to, you know, be a tank in Overwatch or you're
- 33:03going to be the DPS in a in a matchup like Marvel.
- 33:07I was anything I like. That's a great graphic.
- 33:10I love it. Oh man.
- 33:12But but yeah, teaching those fundamentals and so I'm doing
- 33:15that as well. Have a couple podcasts and Mind
- 33:17Greens Gamers Lounge, just one that's on Twitch, do that every
- 33:20Wednesday at 2:00 PM. And then I do my believe in
- 33:23Packers within the Believe network where I break down the
- 33:25Packers and a season and all that and that's why I know about
- 33:29them very much. And then now getting ready for a
- 33:31combine, and I'm glad, look, Four got resigned.
- 33:34They needed to do that because him not being resigned would
- 33:36have been a problem for many reasons.
- 33:39So good job with a goodie kiss, getting him signed back on and
- 33:42getting ready for the combine. But then another job.
- 33:46I say not job, but I say job. Yeah, I got brought into him.
- 33:49I got moved down to Houston two years ago and a neighbor of
- 33:53mine, we became friends, even though he's a Bears fan and a
- 33:55Buckeyes fan, he's a great guy and I met his brother.
- 34:00So it's Ken and Keith and we're both part of company business
- 34:03that Ken came up with is called Emerging Due Diligence, where we
- 34:07are AM and a company. So we're working in acquisitions
- 34:11and for mergers and something I never thought I'd be a part of,
- 34:14but what I found out is talking to Ken about it, that once we do
- 34:19call to work with a company, they have to learn leadership
- 34:21development. They got to learn some of those
- 34:23leadership skills, become some. Sometimes at the top of a
- 34:26Fortune 500 business, the CEO, the head, the founder may be the
- 34:31problem. You know, like, for example, the
- 34:34Detroit Lions 10 years ago, that wasn't the players on the field,
- 34:39it was the people up top, the people that own the team, the
- 34:42Fords, they couldn't figure out their right from left or do the
- 34:45business right. Same with the Cowboys, right?
- 34:48Jerry Jones even know he's a good businessman.
- 34:50Sometimes the good businessman and women, they don't get out
- 34:53the way of themselves to let football coaches be football
- 34:56coaches or BGM. Let the GM be the GM and he's
- 34:59the GM, you know, I'm saying, so teaching that leadership side of
- 35:02it, accountability and stuff, that's my job with it.
- 35:05Keith and Ken, him and his, him and his brother, they are the
- 35:08part of the guys that do all the financial due diligence.
- 35:11Make sure this company that we're going to work with is
- 35:13going to be somebody that obviously is going to have
- 35:15success and have the awareness to basically make pivots if they
- 35:20need to and certain investments and pivots when they don't need
- 35:24to. And so that's where we all come
- 35:25in as a team. So I've been working on that
- 35:28too. That's why I'm sweating, you
- 35:30know? Are you?
- 35:31You don't look like you're sweating.
- 35:32Yeah, but but no, in that space, A space that I never thought I
- 35:35would be in, in the financial space at the end of my football
- 35:38career. So doing real good with that.
- 35:40We got a couple projects going and I know one of them is a team
- 35:44over in England that we're a part of and they're their
- 35:47ownership. And it's so fun.
- 35:49Like, man, I get to go watch a pitch over in the in in in
- 35:53England and get a spot of T governor and also I love I love
- 35:57that aspect. I like the look Green St.
- 36:01Hooligans. I love that movie.
- 36:03That's like. My favorite fantastic movie.
- 36:05I love that. Movie I bought it like I I saw
- 36:08it at Best Buy. I was in Green Bay when it came
- 36:10out and I just it's something told me to buy it.
- 36:12I said this one I saw the actors some of the actors are still
- 36:16acting today doing fantastic job and something told me to buy it.
- 36:19I watched that movie and I'm like, OK, they got us on fan
- 36:24bases 100%. I know Packer fans are crazy.
- 36:27I know bear fans are crazy. I know cowboy to Raider fans
- 36:32stealer. No, you only get nothing on
- 36:34soccer fans over in over in Europe and Asia and Africa where
- 36:37there are other countries that. Beat the hell out of each other
- 36:40and it's like it. It's to me.
- 36:42Other than Philly fans, other. Than Philly fans, Philly fans,
- 36:46after they win a Super Bowl, they're out there picking up
- 36:48horse dump and putting it in their mouth.
- 36:50I mean, some of the stuff that Philly fans do is this
- 36:53absolutely ridiculous and we've had a lot of ex foot Philly
- 36:57players that have come on this show and didn't even know that's
- 36:59what Philly fans do. They were paying attention in it
- 37:01doesn't take much like I knew right away, like the difference
- 37:05between Packer fans and Philly fans, but I also knew Packer
- 37:08fans could get a little rowdy, right?
- 37:11So, for example, remember when Randy Moss scored the touchdown
- 37:14and Lambeau? He faked like he was mooning the
- 37:17crowd. That's right, I do remember that
- 37:18game. He got that from the crowd
- 37:21because the crowd moons the away team by the away team locker
- 37:24room on the north side of the South side of Lambeau Field.
- 37:27That's what I knew. So I wasn't mad at Randy.
- 37:30I'm like, he just returning the favor to the fan boy.
- 37:32Did you? Know.
- 37:33Let me tell you, you know, by the way, we just so everybody
- 37:37knows we are talking to 12 year Pro Bowl running back, former
- 37:41Pro Bowl running back. I'm on green.
- 37:43He's he's this the first time he's been on a show.
- 37:45He's been sensational before we let you go and and I know you're
- 37:49a busy man as you're sweating and I'm sweating too because and
- 37:52we. Want you to fan on, that's what
- 37:54I need. To do, by the way, this is this
- 37:56is a great interview and then obviously you've never been on a
- 37:58show. We'd love to get you back on the
- 37:59show. I think you're sensational.
- 38:02I think you have a great background not only with EA
- 38:05Sports and and all the different video games, E Sports as they
- 38:08call it. It's pretty amazing what you're
- 38:10doing. Offset of football.
- 38:12Who is the biggest pain in the ass on the football field?
- 38:15Who talked the most crap and who was the guy that you just love
- 38:20to play against every single game?
- 38:22While the one that talked the most trash was Warren Sat, he
- 38:25talked the most. Even when I'm.
- 38:27I'm like walking away, trying to ignore him #30 Green, talk to
- 38:31me. Come on, brother.
- 38:32I'm like, shut up. Don't talk to me.
- 38:33Talk to Brett. Leave me alone.
- 38:38The guy that was a problem, Yeah.
- 38:41On the football field, his teammate Derrick Brooks, Oh my
- 38:44God, you talking about a problem?
- 38:47He knew where he was smart. He's old when every time you run
- 38:50the ball, a gap, B gap, don't matter, he's hitting you right
- 38:53in your face. And then his teammate on top of
- 38:56that, another Hall of Famer, John Lynch.
- 38:57Like, God damn it. Like what the hell going?
- 38:59On. I got to look left and right and
- 39:02I still we're 47. I remember my first play in
- 39:04Green Bay as a back in Tampa. Sorry packet.
- 39:07We're in Tampa Bay and Dorsey gave me a warning.
- 39:10He said AG when we get when you got him off the hollow every
- 39:13play, whatever you do, find 47 pre snap.
- 39:17Check the you know, check the perimeter, see where he's at
- 39:19because he likes to hide. Sometimes safeties like to do
- 39:22this, and he's like a linebacker.
- 39:24It's not fair. He says so, 547 And of course,
- 39:27break the huddle. 92 blasts. Green, right, 92 blasts.
- 39:31I checked the perimeter. Goddammit, where's 47?
- 39:33I can't find him. He.
- 39:34Came out of nowhere and. Here's the and Brett goes into
- 39:37cadence. You know, green 80 green a shit,
- 39:40right? Take the ball.
- 39:40I'm like, oh, I got a hole. Boom, I cut back.
- 39:43Oh, there's 47. God damn it that hurt.
- 39:45Oh my God, that hurt, right. They were a Tommy boy when he
- 39:48got hit with the the 2 by 4 by David Spade.
- 39:50Yes, that's what it's like. It don't hurt right here.
- 39:52It don't hurt right here, but right around.
- 39:54Here it hurts. I walked back to the other like,
- 39:57God damn it, Dorsey was right. I said.
- 39:59I didn't doubt Dorsey. I didn't.
- 40:00I trusted him and he was dead on and never happened again after
- 40:04that. Trust me, I knew where 47 was
- 40:06that most of the time and then a guy that.
- 40:10I say even though he's a Hall of Famer, we knew how to deal with
- 40:14this dude was Mr. Urlacher down in Chicago.
- 40:16We knew between me, my fullback and my offensive line, he was
- 40:20lighting the ass. We love him that I love him to
- 40:22death. He is my dude.
- 40:23He's a good friend of mine. We talk a lot, we trash talk.
- 40:26It's all fun and games, but we just knew that we had Will
- 40:29Henderson. He was 61250.
- 40:31I remember 55. I was 61220.
- 40:34Prime weight was 218 and you got me both of of us running
- 40:38downhill along with Mike Wall, Marco Rivera, Mike Flanagan,
- 40:41Evanberry, Mark Tauscher, Clay Clifton.
- 40:43You ain't once we get rolling, we like told coach Schumer,
- 40:46don't even call nothing else other than 9296 counter gap and
- 40:5195. Just let us run that the rest of
- 40:54the drive because we got we got Urlacher on skates the whole
- 40:57game like let's go. So so yeah, that's that answer.
- 41:00I know that that probably I think that hit them all for all
- 41:03your questions there. You did.
- 41:04And by the way, Brian Urlacher, I've seen some of his weight
- 41:08training when he was playing, he was benching like 550 like 10
- 41:12times off the. Chest he had a good upper body.
- 41:14He did his upper but he but if you check out, check out his
- 41:16calves. Now I could see.
- 41:20That's why he was so fast. Like when you get that
- 41:23linebacker so fast because you look at his legs.
- 41:25He was a sprinter. I mean, he had the talent, but
- 41:28it's like, oh, wait a minute, you can't.
- 41:30Forklift. You can't move things.
- 41:34I mean, I mean, I hate to say it, but I think what's his name?
- 41:36Jerome Bettis. He trucked them, too.
- 41:38Oh yeah, That was a. Weakness we exposed it did you
- 41:41ever in some cases, did you ever in some cases?
- 41:43I love the Packers and and the Chicago Bears when they played
- 41:46against one another every time just like I I couldn't stand
- 41:49watching The Jets play the patriots because I knew what was
- 41:51going to happen a whole nother story.
- 41:54But anyways, I I don't want to get into The Jets and Patriots,
- 41:57but E sports is now going to be an Olympic sport just so for all
- 42:00the fans to know that E sports will be part of the Summer
- 42:05Olympics I think in 2028, so 20. 28 in LA.
- 42:09Yeah, I know you're excited about that.
- 42:11I'm gonna be out there, man. I'm sure if I got a hitchhike
- 42:14and get Scout some tickets, I'm trying to get in the stadium, in
- 42:19the room. Hey, I know Snoop Dogg.
- 42:21I know he's going to be a part of Olympics on some level.
- 42:23So I'm gonna hit up Snoop, be like, hey man, hey, can you help
- 42:26my brother out? There you are, There you go.
- 42:28Green St. Hooligans I.
- 42:30See it? I like it.
- 42:31I like it. Got the got the little salt and
- 42:33pepper in the beard. There you go.
- 42:35You got to have a little bit of salt and pepper, you know, like
- 42:37I love salt and pepper, you know, as the hip hop group and
- 42:41you. Know awesome group.
- 42:42Yeah, what a man, what a man, what a man, what a mighty good
- 42:45man. Anyways, I was for you, my
- 42:47friend. I'm not a singer, but that was
- 42:49for you. Anyways, we love you.
- 42:52Amen. And you to me, you're one of my
- 42:55favorites as far as interviewers, I've interviewed
- 42:58thousands of people over the years.
- 43:00But I think you're just down to earth.
- 43:01You're straightforward. You shoot from the hip and, and
- 43:04I love that about you. And to me, it defines who you
- 43:07are as a player, as a teammate and as a person.
- 43:10So thank you for joining us. We'll, we'll be in touch, my
- 43:12friend. We will all be back on.
- 43:14And like I said, I love when I the day I found out Jabba was
- 43:17from Nebraska, I'm like, oh, he's another dude that people
- 43:20don't think that exists. Hold on.
- 43:22I told people that. Hold on.
- 43:24They're like you from Droba. I'm like, yeah, Droba 1 athletes
- 43:28like oop, do I have to go? I'm sorry.

- 43:58other. We all love each other.
- 44:01Oh, we got Joppa too. We got Joppa too.
- 44:04I had to take, I can't imagine, and I was a baseball player too,
- 44:07almost. I got, I was getting scouted by
- 44:09the KC Royals when I was in a sophomore in high school, played
- 44:13outfield. So that is amazing.
- 44:16I can't. I won't be able to get that
- 44:18picture out of my head if I see once I see Nathan.
- 44:21He tasted. The radio row.
- 44:24Dude, every every time Niffen goes out in public he wears this
- 44:28blue blazer. I call him the Blue Blazer.
- 44:30Man, yeah, he does. And I tell him all the time,
- 44:32just get just have all these athletes sign and, and sign the
- 44:37sign the jacket and then just frame it as something after a
- 44:41while. I mean, do you wash it?
- 44:43Does it actually get washed? I would hope so, but sound
- 44:48probably there's a potential that it doesn't.
- 44:50I listen, man, he has got the the the weirdest as far as style
- 44:55I've ever seen. He wears a red polo with
- 44:59camouflage pants with a blue blazer.
- 45:01I mean, this guy, he needs some help.
- 45:03I need to help him. I need to take him out.
- 45:06This makes my pecker. As we all there he is, he's
- 45:08hanging out with there he is. We love Sidor.
- 45:11There he is him and Sidor having some of that nice soup.

- 47:10all righty, then all righty, all righty, all righty, then all.

- 47:40And if you are interested in getting your comments read,
- 47:42please go to Reddit and join the conversation.
- 47:46Woody Johnson is the topic of the day.
- 47:50I'm going to share the screen of the website and again,

- 48:19That would make us over 200,000 to both downloads and then
- 48:23website views each month. So crushing it guys keep keep
- 48:26telling everybody about it If they would like good
- 48:28entertainment, come check out the website, come check out the
- 48:30show Woody call the plays. Johnson strikes again.
- 48:35How to pay 12 million and still micromanage like it's fantasy
- 48:39football. There he is, Mr. Woody Johnson.
- 48:43Jet fans, gather round. Bring your coffee, your rage,
- 48:47and maybe a helmet because this ride's about to get chaotic.
- 48:51So let's break this down in plain English with Errol Marx
- 48:54energy. Aaron Glenn has hired his head
- 48:56coach. He's ready to build his staff.
- 48:58He's about to bring in Don Martindale, AKA Wink, AKA Blitz,
- 49:03from the parking lot for a second meeting.
- 49:06And in the NFL interview speak, That's basically you're in the
- 49:09elevator, where's your office? Then boom, enter Woody Johnson,
- 49:14cigar in mouth, clipboard in hand, like he's the defensive
- 49:17coordinator and the boss of the cheerleaders.
- 49:20Hey, Aaron, I'm paying you 12 million, so I expect you to call
- 49:24the place. Wait, what?
- 49:26You pay a coach a dozen $1,000,000 to hire his guys, and
- 49:29then you turn around and micromanage him like you're
- 49:31choosing toppings at a pizza bar?
- 49:33That's not leadership. That's fantasy football energy.
- 49:38All right. We're going to start with this
- 49:39one, just a more generic one. This is Dan Stevens 6515.
- 49:43Aaron Glenn proved this year he had no clue what he was doing.
- 49:47Thank you Dan for giving us your own opinion.
- 49:50I I agree that he was up and down all season long.
- 49:53But think about this, Dan, they had a chance to win eight games
- 49:56this year. They choked against the Broncos
- 49:59at the tail end of the game they chose to get, they choked
- 50:01against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, actually choked
- 50:04against the Steelers in the first game of the season.
- 50:07That right there is 3 games they could have won which would have
- 50:10made them six. It would have gave them six
- 50:12wins. So yes, he didn't look like he
- 50:14had any clue. A lot of coaches in their first
- 50:17season did Dan Campbell actually know or even look like he had a
- 50:21clue in his first year with the Lions, He did it.
- 50:24So I agree with you. He looked like he didn't have a
- 50:26clue. That doesn't mean you throw him
- 50:28out and give up on him. That's all I'm saying.
- 50:30All right, the next one. This is all Shawl Parish.
- 50:33They should blame Aaron. He hasn't made a single decision
- 50:35that makes sense. He's gaslighted the fans.
- 50:37I think you were dumb with this shitty attitude, including this
- 50:39off season. Thank you all Shall Parrish for
- 50:42giving us your take. And I agree with you.
- 50:44I don't like how he speaks to the media and, and how he speaks
- 50:47to the fan and he doesn't want to give the media any
- 50:49information that's going on outside of the locker room.
- 50:52He doesn't want to give you any injury reports.
- 50:55So I agree with you. I think he needs to be more
- 50:56upfront with the with the fans and, and, and obviously the
- 51:00media. You're here in New York.
- 51:01You should be open to giving the answers.
- 51:04But I got to give Aaron Glenn a little bit more credit, even
- 51:07though he looks like he doesn't give enough.
- 51:10At least he's not doing the things that other coaches have
- 51:13done, like Robert Sala airing out information to broadcasters
- 51:17and different personalities offset out of the locker room.
- 51:20And then how about Mike Pettin throwing players in and the
- 51:24organization under the bus when he was with Rex Ryan?
- 51:26So at least Aaron Glenn isn't doing that.
- 51:29But I agree with you, he should be more upfront with the fans.
- 51:32All right, let's go to one that actually features Robert Sala.
- 51:34So he kind of agrees with you about Woody Johnson.
- 51:36This is Pierce, SD 8654. He's the the only owner to ever
- 51:41get an F on an NFL PA report card, and that says all you need
- 51:43to know about the way Woody Johnson runs the team.
- 51:44But hence why Sala and Bowles got another job elsewhere.
- 51:48All right, so Pierce, thank you for giving us your take.
- 51:51Here's the thing, I could careless what any magazine or
- 51:55any report card is giving me as an owner.
- 51:58He spends money, does he not? He opens up his pockets, does he
- 52:00not? The only thing that I could take
- 52:02shots at Woody Johnson now this offseason is the fact that he
- 52:06would not bring in Wink Martindale because he would
- 52:09rather pay his his coach $12 million.
- 52:13If you're going to complain about a couple of measly
- 52:15millions of dollars when you're that you're the owner of the
- 52:17team, you're a multi billionaire, there's a problem.
- 52:19But as far as him getting graded an F, I mean, there are a lot of
- 52:23other organizations and a lot of other owners that you can give
- 52:26FS to, which they didn't. He gave him an F fine.
- 52:29Is he a smart guy? He's an intelligent businessman,
- 52:32not very good football man. So I agree with you, I grade him
- 52:36an F2. But who cares what I think?
- 52:37Who cares what any of these magazines or anybody's writing
- 52:40and giving your take to? So who cares?
- 52:42All right, this one from what it's time you'll know there's
- 52:45some organizations where the primary goal is to win the Super
- 52:47Bowl every year. The Jets are not one of those
- 52:48teams on the ownership and front office level.
- 52:50All right, So what is it? What?
- 52:52What is it again? All.
- 52:53Right, so we got. When is it time?
- 52:55What is it? When it's time, you'll know.
- 52:56OK, when it's time, you know, thank you for your your take on
- 53:00that. And I agree, maybe The Jets
- 53:01don't know as an organization what to do.
- 53:03And The Jets have made a lot of mistakes over the last couple of
- 53:06years with the coaches, Bambi, obviously, Todd Bowles, Eric
- 53:10Mangini, you name it, they've made it.
- 53:12They've struck out on coaches and they struck out on players.
- 53:14They struck out on getting rid of Sam Donald for a second and
- 53:184th and he wins the Super Bowl with another team in Seattle
- 53:21because they should have just SAT and and really developed
- 53:24him. Jamal Adams came out on social
- 53:25media to attack The Jets with that.
- 53:27So you're not wrong about that. But there are other teams going
- 53:30back to the primary source of all these other organizations
- 53:34that have completely bombed 1 here in New York, the New York
- 53:36Giants. Have the Giants done the right
- 53:38thing for their organization over the last couple of years?
- 53:40Yes, they won in 2007. Yes, they won in 2011 and
- 53:44knocked off the undefeated Patriots.
- 53:46But look what they've done in the last couple of years when it
- 53:48came to coaches and GMs. They have struck out and the one the
- 53:52guy that they had and Tom Coughlin they gave up on.
- 53:54So I agree The Jets are an organization that completely
- 53:57falls flat on their face, but there are organizations all
- 54:00through the league that are not successful.
- 54:02All right, last one Haas Mir 12 Jet fancy to stop going to the
- 54:07GameStop buying merchandise and make him sell.
- 54:09Do the right thing and hopefully he'll sell the team to someone
- 54:10who will bring them back to respectability.
- 54:12Haas, Mir, thank you for your take.
- 54:14Here's what I'm going to say. Nobody's going to stop buying
- 54:17merchandise. Nobody's going to spot, stop
- 54:19buying tickets because The Jets are going to find ways to give
- 54:23you a good deal. Now that we we've seen this over
- 54:26and over and over again where teams are really, really bad.
- 54:28They're not going to sell out and all that other stuff.
- 54:30Here's the thing, we're in New York.
- 54:32The New York Knicks have been bad for 2530 years.
- 54:35They sell out Madison Square Garden.
- 54:36The Rangers have been up and down.
- 54:37They haven't won a championship since 1994.
- 54:40They still sell out games. The Islanders over the years,
- 54:43even at the UPS Arena, the UBS Arena, they sold out more games
- 54:47than they the Brooklyn Nets because they're James Harden and
- 54:50Kyrie Irving trying to sell tickets out of the stadium
- 54:53because nobody gave a crap about the basketball team.
- 54:55What I'm saying is here in New York, as long as their teams
- 54:59here and as long as their teams that are competently playing
- 55:03those games and not choking and I mean choking, not showing up
- 55:07to the games, they're going to sell out as many tickets as they
- 55:09possibly can. And if they don't, they'll sell
- 55:12them on StubHub or something else.
- 55:14And and by the way, everybody's going to buy merch because the
- 55:17jet fans are the most dedicated fans in I believe in the NFL.
- 55:21It doesn't matter how bad The Jets have been over the years.
- 55:23They sell out games, they buy jersey.
- 55:25Do you know that The Jets have the 10th most sellable jerseys
- 55:30in all of the NFL? Did you know that I could
- 55:32believe that their jersey sell they're in the top ten in all of
- 55:36the league when it comes to merch.
- 55:38Why The Jets stink. What it tells me is the fans are
- 55:41dedicated behind the behind the players and behind the
- 55:44organization. So that's never never going to
- 55:46happen. So I agree with you, right?
- 55:48Why not show up to the games? That's not going to stop anybody
- 55:51buying tickets or even going to games and buying merch.
- 55:55So thank you to all the the guys that gave us your takes.
- 55:58We really appreciate you. We'll be doing this every single
- 56:01week and I'll give you my take to it.
- 56:03And I listen, I agree with all the Jet fans.
- 56:05The Jets are not a very smart organization, but they're How
- 56:08many great organizations are there in the NFL?
- 56:117 I was going. To say you mentioned in your
- 56:15article there's a couple owners that are worse.
- 56:16I definitely agree with you on the Browns and the Panthers.
- 56:19There, there are a lot of bad owners.
- 56:20I mean, Miami, you going to tell me Miami has a great ownership
- 56:23over there? I mean, come on, guys.
- 56:25I, I understand that The Jets are not an organization you want
- 56:28to play for, but the Giants haven't won since 2011.
- 56:32The Giants have lost as many games as the New York Jets have
- 56:35in the last 10 to 12 years. You're going to tell me that
- 56:38John Harbaugh made the right decision going to the New York
- 56:40Giants over any other team and other any other organization?
- 56:44No, it was about money. It's always about money.
- 56:47That's all I'm going to say about that.
- 56:48And and listen, if The Jets fire Aaron Glenn at the end of the
- 56:51season, which they probably might, they'll bring in Jon
- 56:54Gruden or somebody else that will take the reins of this
- 56:57organization and get more power. And it's all about power in
- 57:01professional sports and money. That's all that matters.
- 57:04If you get the money, you get the power.
- 57:06They don't care where the team is and where the organization is
- 57:09going to lead to. So that's all I'm going to say
- 57:11about that. Thank you to all the fans tuning
