- 1:24Speaker 3: whizz So, yeah, it's too bad, but what did you expect?
- 1:28Speaker 3: It's a podcast called twenty five.
- 1:30Speaker 1: Wiste Oh, blow up west Letty thank you. I had
- 1:37Speaker 1: asked Eddie this question. I'm just gonna play it, so Eddie,
- 1:40Speaker 1: don't don't spoil it yet. I'm not say anything, but
- 1:42Speaker 1: I asked Eddie. I said, hey, I've had zero things.
- 1:46Speaker 1: This is the thing I've bet nothing ever in my butt.
- 1:48Speaker 1: I guess I call an but here you go. Okay,
- 1:52Speaker 1: things I've stuck in my butt.
- 1:53Speaker 4: Zero things.
- 1:55Speaker 1: But let me ask Eddie what he's stuck in his butt?
- 1:59Speaker 5: Uh jumper, fishing row, there's a fishing bucket. There's a football,
- 2:06Speaker 5: there's a basketball, baseball gloves. I think that's it.
- 2:13Speaker 1: Were in your garage?
- 2:15Speaker 5: No, he asked me. He asked me separately. Didn't hear
- 2:19Speaker 5: him record the first part? And he comes up to
- 2:21Speaker 5: He's like, hey, will you just TikTok thing with me?
- 2:23Speaker 5: I'm gonna ask you a generic question, what do you
- 2:25Speaker 5: have in the back of your car? Right now? I'm
- 2:30Speaker 5: gonna report that as inappropriate.
- 2:32Speaker 1: We don't watch those all weekend and laught so hard
- 2:35Speaker 1: the trend. I didn't.
- 2:37Speaker 5: I knew you wouldn't have seen the trend that I
- 2:39Speaker 5: didn't see it. Yeah, I didn't see.
- 2:41Speaker 1: When you have fishing pole, I laughed.
- 2:42Speaker 5: You can hear a big old fishing pole.
- 2:47Speaker 1: Uh, yeah, we're back. Hey, I'll address it here. I'm
- 2:51Speaker 1: not going to ESPN everybody. There was an article that
- 2:54Speaker 1: came out. I don't know if you guys saw the article.
- 2:57Speaker 5: I did see a little something. Yeah, you were a
- 3:00Speaker 5: dark horse though, huh, I.
- 3:01Speaker 1: Was dark horse? A dark horse. I've never been a
- 3:04Speaker 1: dark horse.
- 3:06Speaker 6: Let's see.
- 3:07Speaker 1: The article is eleven potential successors to Paul find Baum
- 3:12Speaker 1: at ESPN. These top college football talkers are in prime
- 3:17Speaker 1: position to move up if Mouth of the South leaves
- 3:20Speaker 1: TV for a political run, because Paul find bombs that
- 3:22Speaker 1: he wants to go run for office. And I like
- 3:24Speaker 1: Paul a lot, And so they started listening listening people
- 3:28Speaker 1: Josh Pate, Greg McElroy. Macroy's played quarterback for Alabama, Cole Kublick,
- 3:34Speaker 1: Marty Smith, Ryan McGee from Marty and McGhee, dary Noka,
- 3:39Speaker 1: Alyssa Lang, Peter Burns, Booger McFarlane, and me.
- 3:44Speaker 4: That's a list.
- 3:45Speaker 1: They had some good things to say about you.
- 3:47Speaker 7: Man.
- 3:47Speaker 1: Bones is a dark horse, but he's I was a
- 3:50Speaker 1: little offended for you guys though, why I'll read this.
- 3:53Speaker 1: I'll tell you why. Bones is a dark horse, but
- 3:54Speaker 1: he's hugely popular in the region as a country music
- 3:57Speaker 1: talk personality syndicated at a nation Fill. He has some sports chops,
- 4:01Speaker 1: hosting a weekly NFL podcast with Matt Castle and occasionally
- 4:04Speaker 1: filling in for Rich Eisen. Bones is a diehard Arkansas
- 4:07Speaker 1: fan and he would fit well on SEC network programming.
- 4:10Speaker 5: Nothing about Whistles one of the crab just don't take
- 4:13Speaker 5: us seriously.
- 4:14Speaker 1: Nobody takes us seriously. So I did have a bunch
- 4:18Speaker 1: of people reach out, like, are you going to ESPN
- 4:20Speaker 1: ads right now? No, only I don't know anything about it.
- 4:22Speaker 1: I think it was just somebody making a list.
- 4:24Speaker 5: You'd have done that show before. You've been guests on
- 4:26Speaker 5: that show a few.
- 4:27Speaker 1: Times on Fine Bomb Show, Yeah, I've been a guest
- 4:30Speaker 1: a bunch of times. But I mean that's just he
- 4:32Speaker 1: just wants to no Arkansas stupid stuff. That's easy. But yeah,
- 4:35Speaker 1: I thought, what what's he like as a person when
- 4:39Speaker 1: the cameras are on super dynamic? When the cameras are off,
- 4:43Speaker 1: you got nothing to say. I like them a lot
- 4:46Speaker 1: because I would similarly to how I do this show,
- 4:50Speaker 1: and that I don't want to talk to anybody before
- 4:52Speaker 1: we get on the air in any way whatsoever. I've
- 4:55Speaker 1: had to openly force myself to be more warm when
- 4:59Speaker 1: people just show up because I don't want to put
- 5:01Speaker 1: any energy to anything that's not being recorded, right. And
- 5:04Speaker 1: I think it was Colby Cala who came in and
- 5:06Speaker 1: she was like, yeah, you're kind of cold, and I
- 5:09Speaker 1: was like, oh, dang.
- 5:11Speaker 5: And she told you that you were just acting cold like.
- 5:15Speaker 1: She thought he was mad at her. Oh, And I
- 5:17Speaker 1: was like, no, I just don't want to waste any
- 5:19Speaker 1: energy on anything before we start. But it was a
- 5:21Speaker 1: good note for me because I don't feel like I'm
- 5:23Speaker 1: my heart's not cold toward the person. I'm going, hey,
- 5:26Speaker 1: thank you for coming. Let's just get started, because I
- 5:30Speaker 1: just want to hit it with anything we have, but
- 5:33Speaker 1: that can be interpreted as cold. So now I've made
- 5:35Speaker 1: an absolute effort and I was glad she gave me
- 5:37Speaker 1: this note. That's what you say, thanks for the note,
- 5:39Speaker 1: because I do am warmer to people now when they
- 5:41Speaker 1: show up, like for a Bobby cast, because I don't
- 5:45Speaker 1: want them feeling that way because I do not feel cold.
- 5:46Speaker 1: I'm excited they're here. I just want all that to
- 5:48Speaker 1: come out being recorded. I wanted to come across as
- 5:50Speaker 1: I feel it. But yeah, I.
- 5:52Speaker 5: Love that she told you that though, because I think
- 5:54Speaker 5: most people would just be like, well that was It
- 5:56Speaker 5: was weird when I first walked in.
- 5:58Speaker 1: Yeah, we were doing some sort of I've known Colby
- 6:01Speaker 1: for a little bit, but we were doing some sort
- 6:02Speaker 1: of like evaluation Brandon, what were you doing? How did
- 6:05Speaker 1: that come up? She was talking about how insecure she is,
- 6:10Speaker 1: oh and how people will think she like is not nice,
- 6:14Speaker 1: and I was saying the same, like if I'm in
- 6:16Speaker 1: a if I'm not working, like I'm the most introverted person.
- 6:20Speaker 6: She is too, And we're like on that note, like
- 6:23Speaker 6: when I first came in, you were really cold, and
- 6:27Speaker 6: I took that as, oh, I guess he doesn't like me.
- 6:29Speaker 1: Yes, that's funny, and I said, thank you for the note.
- 6:35Speaker 1: I totally understand why you would think that, But here's
- 6:37Speaker 1: what's happening in my head. One, they don't even really
- 6:41Speaker 1: want to be here. They're doing this for whatever promotional
- 6:43Speaker 1: reason and to anything we have. Let's just go out
- 6:45Speaker 1: and put it on the mic in that order. And
- 6:47Speaker 1: so was both of us just kind of fighting.
- 6:49Speaker 4: And you're not one for small talk?
- 6:50Speaker 1: I hate it.
- 6:51Speaker 4: Yeah, like a lot of people like I don't mind
- 6:53Speaker 4: small talk, Eddie, Edie, Eddie, major.
- 6:58Speaker 5: Talk. I don't want to be serious. I have time
- 7:01Speaker 5: to be serious.
- 7:02Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, Eddie.
- 7:03Speaker 8: If you look at his degree from Sam Houston in
- 7:07Speaker 8: small talk, podcast, journalism minor, and small talk. Yeah, so
- 7:12Speaker 8: that's what he's like. But always super gracious.
- 7:15Speaker 1: Anytime I have asked him to come on anything, it's
- 7:17Speaker 1: a yes. Anytime he asked me to come on anything,
- 7:19Speaker 1: it's a yes. Like I really do like him, but
- 7:21Speaker 1: I don't have any plans. I don't know if I
- 7:23Speaker 1: could actually do it. Mean, yeah, I have the capabilities.
- 7:27Speaker 1: I have the capabilities do that and crush it and
- 7:28Speaker 1: be as good or better than anybody on that list.
- 7:30Speaker 1: I have to think that I have to think irrationally
- 7:33Speaker 1: about myself or nobody else will, right, So I think
- 7:37Speaker 1: I would do that job better than anybody. However, I
- 7:39Speaker 1: don't think I can and I don't want to take
- 7:42Speaker 1: a pay cut.
- 7:42Speaker 5: So did you think about that when he when he
- 7:45Speaker 5: said that he was going to run for political officer
- 7:47Speaker 5: or not once? Or is this the first time he
- 7:49Speaker 5: thought of it when you saw the list?
- 7:50Speaker 1: The only time I thought about anything like this. They
- 7:52Speaker 1: asked me once if I would come and do some
- 7:53Speaker 1: fill in stuff if he's on vacation and they shoot
- 7:55Speaker 1: in Charlotte, and I didn't want to miss the show.
- 7:57Speaker 5: Oh he's out of Charlotte where LA was a.
- 7:59Speaker 1: Lot easy, your big time difference. It just didn't work
- 8:04Speaker 1: out when they asked for me to fill in.
- 8:07Speaker 5: So like his set, his set just seems like where is.
- 8:10Speaker 1: He He's everywhere in the woods somewhere, He's everywhere, like
- 8:14Speaker 1: out the window. Do we hit our parlay?
- 8:17Speaker 4: No? Not even close, not even close.
- 8:20Speaker 7: No.
- 8:20Speaker 1: We were Ozero for three boys Indiana, damy cover.
- 8:24Speaker 4: No, they won by twenty four. We had a twenty
- 8:26Speaker 4: eight and a half.
- 8:27Speaker 5: That pisses me off when they.
- 8:28Speaker 4: All miss lost by or you lost the cover by
- 8:31Speaker 4: a point and a half?
- 8:32Speaker 5: Ooh you lost?
- 8:33Speaker 4: Oh I lost too, Eddy, I lost the worst.
- 8:34Speaker 1: Probably.
- 8:35Speaker 4: I mean my I had Alabama lost hovering.
- 8:37Speaker 1: Yes, I gotta tell you I've speaking of losing. I've
- 8:39Speaker 1: lost so much money the last weekend.
- 8:41Speaker 7: Same.
- 8:42Speaker 1: I can't do. I have weekends, I have months even
- 8:45Speaker 1: where I'm like, dude, it didn't matter. I can close
- 8:48Speaker 1: my eyes and push one and whatever it is. I'm
- 8:50Speaker 1: the opposite right now. Like everything I've bet on. I
- 8:53Speaker 1: have lost so much money in the past two weeks.
- 8:55Speaker 5: See, I thought the same thing that you were thinking.
- 8:57Speaker 5: So on Sunday morning, I was like, that's it. I'm
- 9:00Speaker 5: doing the opposite. So I gave the phone to my son.
- 9:02Speaker 5: I said, whatever I tell you, click the opposite.
- 9:05Speaker 1: Get your gambling. That's great.
- 9:06Speaker 5: All my kids they love it. Sunday morning is their favorite.
- 9:08Speaker 7: Dude.
- 9:09Speaker 5: On the way to church, they were like, Dad, are
- 9:11Speaker 5: we doing the parlay? Yes, sir, here's the phone as
- 9:13Speaker 5: I'm driving to church.
- 9:15Speaker 1: But yeah, so I told her.
- 9:17Speaker 3: So.
- 9:17Speaker 5: I told my son like, all right, you got Bill's Bucks, right,
- 9:20Speaker 5: And I was like, Bill's are gonna win it? All right?
- 9:22Speaker 5: He clicked Bucks without even me knowing. So it didn't work.
- 9:26Speaker 7: Don't work.
- 9:26Speaker 1: It didn't work. Strategy. Yeah, I was a lad. My
- 9:32Speaker 1: Conkie touchdown away from everybody's always one pick away. But
- 9:36Speaker 1: I hit Nico, I did a I did four person
- 9:38Speaker 1: anytime touchdowns, Nico Collins hit, James Cook hit I did
- 9:42Speaker 1: Josh Jacobs. But he got hurt. He may be gone
- 9:44Speaker 1: for a while. Huh. Yeah, what's because I.
- 9:46Speaker 5: But okay, So if you would have gotten lad, they
- 9:48Speaker 5: would have given you a credit on that.
- 9:50Speaker 1: Yeah, so I know I already I got early exit
- 9:52Speaker 1: eligible as soon as he went out, I.
- 9:53Speaker 5: Got early exit on Aaron Rodgers.
- 9:56Speaker 1: Still didn't help us.
- 9:56Speaker 5: Didn't help me.
- 9:57Speaker 1: You think because Aaron Rodgers hurt his left wrist his
- 10:00Speaker 1: non throwing rest. Yeah, you think he plays. You think
- 10:03Speaker 1: because they're playing the Bears and he kind of owns
- 10:04Speaker 1: the Bears. You think he braces it up. I don't
- 10:08Speaker 1: know how bad it. Mondays are always weird because we
- 10:09Speaker 1: really don't know what the injuries.
- 10:11Speaker 4: Yeah, it said a possible broken like a broken bone
- 10:14Speaker 4: or something is what I saw. So, but it's your left.
- 10:16Speaker 1: Wrist, right, Yeah, but you get the snap right, you're
- 10:19Speaker 1: out there, people are hitting you, correct and your fall,
- 10:21Speaker 1: you brace yourself with that left You're done.
- 10:24Speaker 4: That's true, But it is the Bears to your point,
- 10:26Speaker 4: he behind, Yeah, exactly.
- 10:30Speaker 5: You know my son, like he plays in the junior
- 10:31Speaker 5: high football team. There was a kid that played with
- 10:34Speaker 5: the cast.
- 10:35Speaker 1: Yeah, but you can do that, you can wrap.
- 10:36Speaker 5: It, so maybe just cast him up defensive players.
- 10:38Speaker 1: They'll use it as a club.
- 10:40Speaker 4: Yeah, oh yeah, not cool.
- 10:42Speaker 1: What's up?
- 10:42Speaker 4: No, that just hurts, like when you're playing against them
- 10:45Speaker 4: and they can use it as a club.
- 10:48Speaker 1: So I have Mark Grace his cell phone number.
- 10:52Speaker 5: Let's call him.
- 10:53Speaker 1: I'm not calling Frank. He's been He's one of my
- 10:55Speaker 1: three white whales who haven't been able to catch Moby
- 11:00Speaker 1: Dick reference Mark Grace, David Letterman, Sting the wrestler. I
- 11:04Speaker 1: have a cell phone number.
- 11:06Speaker 4: Did you just get it?
- 11:07Speaker 1: Yeah? May I ask how did.
- 11:08Speaker 7: You get that?
- 11:09Speaker 1: You may ask Greg Swindell who used to pitch for
- 11:11Speaker 1: We won a World Series with Swindell, Yeah, with the Diamondbacks.
- 11:15Speaker 1: And they both go and do the fantasy camp where
- 11:19Speaker 1: people like us go and play ball for a few days.
- 11:21Speaker 1: That's what we should do next year, is like just
- 11:23Speaker 1: go find a fan. I did the coach cal Fantasy
- 11:25Speaker 1: camp at Arkansas.
- 11:26Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 11:26Speaker 1: I wouldn't recommend that, Oh unless you yeah, get did
- 11:30Speaker 1: somebody go to the hospital. Well no, no, a lot
- 11:32Speaker 1: of people went to the hospital. But unless you are
- 11:36Speaker 1: playing a lot of full court pickup ball, it's hard
- 11:40Speaker 1: to play. It says, two deaths. Yeah, that's the death toll.
- 11:45Speaker 1: Not bad actually if you play a lot of pickup ball,
- 11:48Speaker 1: because it's it's a lot of ex college players and
- 11:51Speaker 1: it's a bunch of people who do all these camps
- 11:52Speaker 1: and travel around the country to do them.
- 11:54Speaker 5: That's crazy, okay.
- 11:55Speaker 1: And then most of them are to college players and
- 11:57Speaker 1: they bring in like some ringers too, because it's fun
- 11:59Speaker 1: to play with other like Mateen Cleave's played with the
- 12:01Speaker 1: So if it were all guys like us, it'd be awesome.
- 12:06Speaker 1: But it h a little advanced. It's a little advanced.
- 12:09Speaker 4: Okay, Yeah, it's tough basketball.
- 12:11Speaker 5: Did you ask for the number or was it given
- 12:14Speaker 5: to you? How did that go down?
- 12:15Speaker 1: I did their podcast, So there's a new podcast and
- 12:18Speaker 1: it is Greg Swindell and it is Keith Morland. Both
- 12:23Speaker 1: played in the majors. Keith Morlan played football at Texas
- 12:25Speaker 1: as well and played for the Cubs. And it's called
- 12:29Speaker 1: like Zeke and zoonk. That's that what it's called. Zeke
- 12:32Speaker 1: and Zong's inside the game. Yeah, So they had me
- 12:36Speaker 1: on and I was just a guest and what's funny
- 12:39Speaker 1: as I'm open, I hate Texas. Texas lost to Georgia
- 12:41Speaker 1: and anyway, so we're doing the podcast and I was like,
- 12:46Speaker 1: you played with Mark Grace, Like I can't get a
- 12:49Speaker 1: hold of them, and he was like, oh, they changed
- 12:51Speaker 1: his number. I was like no, ever, like just can't.
- 12:55Speaker 1: He never will respond to me? Who am Because he
- 12:58Speaker 1: thought I like he like my call or something or
- 13:01Speaker 1: he was like, OKAYT get a hold of himmy I
- 13:03Speaker 1: could he probably And I was like no, no, no, he
- 13:05Speaker 1: just has always avoided me. And so he called him
- 13:09Speaker 1: and was like, hey, he just sent me his number.
- 13:11Speaker 1: I'm never going to call him. It's like whenever I
- 13:13Speaker 1: was giving Bill Cell's number from Bill self's attorney who's
- 13:16Speaker 1: like a fan of the show, He's like, oh, I
- 13:18Speaker 1: told him you call and I just wouldn't call him.
- 13:20Speaker 1: I was like what, I'm like, call him?
- 13:22Speaker 4: What about a text?
- 13:24Speaker 1: But what do I say?
- 13:25Speaker 5: What do you say of it?
- 13:26Speaker 1: There's nothing.
- 13:28Speaker 7: Whale?
- 13:29Speaker 4: Come on?
- 13:30Speaker 1: I wrote about him in my book There you go,
- 13:32Speaker 1: and he knows that, right, yeah? But do I No
- 13:34Speaker 1: one's going to be friends with me. It's like this,
- 13:36Speaker 1: if you're ever like a fan of an artist or
- 13:39Speaker 1: never going to be your.
- 13:39Speaker 5: Friend, you're telling me Eddie Vetter is never going to
- 13:43Speaker 5: be my friend.
- 13:44Speaker 1: Never would he be your friend in real life?
- 13:47Speaker 5: Like, there's no chance of that.
- 13:48Speaker 1: Not if he knew how much of a fan you were.
- 13:50Speaker 1: Got it because it creates an awkward dynamic of are
- 13:53Speaker 1: they my friend because they're a fan? Are they so? Yeah,
- 13:57Speaker 1: that's what's up as number. Maybe I get them booked
- 14:00Speaker 1: on something someday. I know I don't want to interview
- 14:03Speaker 1: him on Zoom because Mike, I don't consider us as
- 14:07Speaker 1: having interviewed Adam Sandler for real.
- 14:10Speaker 4: Nah, in person, we had him on Zoom.
- 14:12Speaker 5: That doesn't count because I've told him so many people
- 14:16Speaker 5: that I've interviewed Jimmy Buffett, but that was on Zoom.
- 14:19Speaker 1: He was a guest on the show. But I don't
- 14:22Speaker 1: really consider that a real unless you do it in person.
- 14:25Speaker 1: I don't like a lot of zooms because you can't
- 14:26Speaker 1: really connect hardy connect with people like I have one
- 14:29Speaker 1: coming up this week with Mary Povic. Oh that's cool,
- 14:33Speaker 1: it is cool, but you always wonder if that barrier
- 14:35Speaker 1: that Zoom barrier because they have to come on being
- 14:38Speaker 1: extra generous because you got a way in like normal
- 14:41Speaker 1: conversations like I have one tomorrow with Phil Rosenthal. Do
- 14:43Speaker 1: you know who that is?
- 14:44Speaker 5: Yes, Lot bow Tie, No, that's Ken, That's who that
- 14:55Speaker 5: guy Phil.
- 14:58Speaker 1: So on Netflix he has the show called, uh, Police
- 15:00Speaker 1: Feed Field. What's it called? On? Somebody Somebody Feet Phil? Okay,
- 15:03Speaker 1: he created Everybody Loves Raymond. Oh, I know who that is? Yes?
- 15:06Speaker 5: I saw him on the documentary about them going to
- 15:08Speaker 5: Russia and.
- 15:09Speaker 1: At that show. Yes, yes, So he came over for
- 15:11Speaker 1: like an hour. That's it was awesome. And David Letterman,
- 15:16Speaker 1: who's on my White Well list his production companies on
- 15:20Speaker 1: started Raymond. Wow, I have Letterman's number. Randon gave me
- 15:24Speaker 1: a cell phone number, but we had it in person
- 15:27Speaker 1: and it was so good because we're talking and like,
- 15:30Speaker 1: if I'm saying something, he just you can just interrupt.
- 15:32Speaker 1: It's a weird way to say you can interrupt each
- 15:34Speaker 1: other without it feeling weird or disjointed. On Zoom, you
- 15:38Speaker 1: kind of have to wait for the person to stop
- 15:39Speaker 1: talking and then you get in because then you get
- 15:41Speaker 1: like the.
- 15:43Speaker 5: Yeah, not a lot of good conversations happening more like
- 15:45Speaker 5: question answer, question answer.

- 17:57Speaker 1: I love the police, oh Rock Sam, Nope, like the
- 18:02Speaker 1: police officers who go out every single day and risk
- 18:04Speaker 1: it alive. I have, I have not only publicly raised,
- 18:09Speaker 1: but personally given because I backed the blue. Oh is
- 18:15Speaker 1: this the cop the copy douchebag? Douchebag move? You can't
- 18:19Speaker 1: the copy one in the South Carolina player, Oh horrible,
- 18:22Speaker 1: but two of them?
- 18:25Speaker 9: Yeah?
- 18:25Speaker 1: Yeah, and you And you know what's funny, I'm glad
- 18:27Speaker 1: you said that because the one he hit the hardest
- 18:29Speaker 1: was the one we can really see on camera that much.
- 18:31Speaker 1: We really only see the middle one. But he hit
- 18:33Speaker 1: the dude douchebag. Now, I do not think he should
- 18:36Speaker 1: lose his job. Everybody wants to go, let's fire everybody
- 18:40Speaker 1: right away when they do something stupid. That was stupid.
- 18:42Speaker 1: That's a douchebag move. I'd also like to say, I've
- 18:44Speaker 1: done stupid things, and I've done douchebag things. That's a
- 18:47Speaker 1: douchebag move. He got relieved from the game. If he's
- 18:49Speaker 1: been a good cop and everything's good, check the It's
- 18:52Speaker 1: just it's just a little slap and learn from it.
- 18:54Speaker 1: We all make mistakes. But dude, that sucked, right.
- 18:58Speaker 4: Yeah, I was watching it live and it was like, wait,
- 19:00Speaker 4: did that really just happen on TV?
- 19:02Speaker 1: Well, then they kept showing it over and over you
- 19:04Speaker 1: saw it, but yeah, it was live.
- 19:06Speaker 4: They still had the camera on the player running into
- 19:08Speaker 4: the tunnel and coming out, and you saw the whole
- 19:10Speaker 4: thing happen live. And I'm like, what a douchebag.
- 19:13Speaker 1: I can't be a bigger back up of the Blue
- 19:15Speaker 1: than Yes. Yes, but that one instant. There are fans
- 19:17Speaker 1: of this show that have heard me douchebags. And it
- 19:19Speaker 1: doesn't mean they stop being fans of anything we do.
- 19:21Speaker 1: They just know Bobby Schuman and sometimes says or dust
- 19:23Speaker 1: things that are douchebaggy, and that was one of those things.
- 19:26Speaker 4: Now, is that getting too close to your fandom, because
- 19:28Speaker 4: obviously he's a fan of an I assume, and he
- 19:29Speaker 4: was just pissed that they scored a long touchdown and
- 19:31Speaker 4: they were upsetting him.
- 19:32Speaker 1: I assume you have to be you have a gun
- 19:34Speaker 1: on you, Oh God, when you have a gun on you,
- 19:37Speaker 1: there are different rules to separate yourself. Yes, you can't
- 19:40Speaker 1: be emotional because of a game if you have a
- 19:43Speaker 1: gun on you for any reason. Good point, I wonder,
- 19:46Speaker 1: and I played it out of my head because he
- 19:49Speaker 1: bumps them both and then one of the middle is like, Yo,
- 19:52Speaker 1: why did you just do that? And what if the
- 19:55Speaker 1: what if the copper turned aroun said something and he's
- 19:57Speaker 1: like oh yeah, and then he arrests them and like
- 19:58Speaker 1: puts them o rest of a helmet, because I don't
- 20:01Speaker 1: think we were far from that, if I'm being honest.
- 20:03Speaker 4: Well, I'm surprised. The first thing I thought it was
- 20:05Speaker 4: the players actually acted really cool. Yeah, I agree, because
- 20:08Speaker 4: they could have been like yo, what the and then
- 20:10Speaker 4: just like Cop, I know, but you're twenty years old.
- 20:13Speaker 4: You just don't know the caught off guard though they're
- 20:15Speaker 4: like what yeah, and I mean yeah after a big
- 20:18Speaker 4: play like that too, emotions are high and you just
- 20:21Speaker 4: never know.
- 20:22Speaker 1: Yeah, I didn't like that. I hope that Cop straightens
- 20:24Speaker 1: it up, straightens it out.
- 20:26Speaker 4: He's done with the games. Right when I say he
- 20:27Speaker 4: was related of.
- 20:28Speaker 1: That game, I would not put back on patrol. Dude,
- 20:32Speaker 1: you have to death for a while. You have to
- 20:36Speaker 1: all you need to do a desktop. You're getting cats
- 20:40Speaker 1: out of trees for about two months. That's it. This
- 20:43Speaker 1: guy's got to go to Thanksgiving. Yes, he's going. He's
- 20:46Speaker 1: gonna get it.
- 20:47Speaker 5: That's funny, surprise.
- 20:48Speaker 4: I haven't seen his name yet.
- 20:50Speaker 1: You know what, don't don't and I don't want to.
- 20:51Speaker 4: I don't want to, That's what I'm saying. Yeah, I
- 20:53Speaker 4: hope they don't dox him. I don't think he because
- 20:55Speaker 4: mob mentality is no joke that.
- 20:57Speaker 1: I just thought, Man, what a freaking loser in that moment,
- 21:00Speaker 1: As someone who's also been a loser of many moments, like.
- 21:02Speaker 4: What to keep saying that in that moment?
- 21:05Speaker 1: But how about that game was crazy?
- 21:07Speaker 5: Crazy?
- 21:08Speaker 1: I didn't even bet it, so I what thirty three
- 21:12Speaker 1: and half thirty three? Yeah, I stopped watching in the
- 21:15Speaker 1: first half when I got out of control because in
- 21:16Speaker 1: my head, I'm thinking A and M's going to come back.
- 21:18Speaker 1: A and M's going to come back. For sure. A
- 21:19Speaker 1: and M's going to come back. Halftime comes and I
- 21:22Speaker 1: was like, man, should I go and just bet a
- 21:24Speaker 1: little bit on A and M and the points? And
- 21:26Speaker 1: I'm like, I don't want touch it because I was
- 21:28Speaker 1: rooting for South Carolina. I have nothing against A and M.
- 21:30Speaker 5: That's always a struggle when you're rooting for the team.
- 21:32Speaker 1: And like Shane Biemer in the Alabama game, didn't work
- 21:35Speaker 1: out for them, and they're they've been close, and so
- 21:38Speaker 1: I was like that and so bad. I didn't watch it.
- 21:40Speaker 1: I just kept watching it tick up on the on
- 21:42Speaker 1: the score, and I was like, I'm not going over
- 21:43Speaker 1: to it just whole because if I start watching it,
- 21:45Speaker 1: I feel like the worst thing possible is going to happen.
- 21:47Speaker 1: Anytime I jump on a game, whatever I don't want
- 21:49Speaker 1: to happen happens. That's what I feel like. So I'm like,
- 21:51Speaker 1: I'm staying off. I'm staying off. I'm staying off. And
- 21:54Speaker 1: I didn't watch it. I saw the highlights later, but
- 21:57Speaker 1: it was, Yeah, it was rough.
- 21:57Speaker 4: I feel bad for South Carolina fans because I'm like, you,
- 22:00Speaker 4: I root for him just like internally from when we
- 22:02Speaker 4: went there. But that was rough, man, that was rough.
- 22:05Speaker 5: I think it was the biggest comeback in school history
- 22:08Speaker 5: for E and M.
- 22:09Speaker 1: I believe it. It may be like one of the
- 22:10Speaker 1: biggest comebacks in SEC.
- 22:12Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 22:12Speaker 4: I saw something about like two hundred and eighty two
- 22:14Speaker 4: and er and leading by twenty seven and a half
- 22:16Speaker 4: in the SEC and they were the one last one.
- 22:19Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, that was a bad one.
- 22:22Speaker 5: So I did that.
- 22:22Speaker 1: I got a couple other things up from my notes,
- 22:26Speaker 1: I think the NFL games started to be pretty good.
- 22:28Speaker 1: Like did on paper. It wasn't the sexiest slate of games,
- 22:32Speaker 1: but the games ended up being a bunch of one
- 22:33Speaker 1: score games that were that were pretty good.
- 22:35Speaker 5: Yeah, the whole day was pretty good.
- 22:37Speaker 1: Okay, I wrote cop st players.
- 22:39Speaker 5: Except the night game, I don't.
- 22:41Speaker 1: I didn't watch it. I went to that a halfet
- 22:43Speaker 1: smart Eagles and have one in that right.
- 22:46Speaker 5: Yeah they did, but I mean they just couldn't score
- 22:48Speaker 5: like I think.
- 22:48Speaker 1: The Eagles can score. Last game.
- 22:50Speaker 4: I know their defense is their whole team right now, Well.
- 22:53Speaker 1: We're I have as my quarterbackup Jalen Hurts on my
- 22:57Speaker 1: fantasy teams, and he still gets the some points because
- 23:00Speaker 1: he runs.
- 23:04Speaker 7: Man.
- 23:04Speaker 1: Yeah, I did you watch the fight in the crowd
- 23:07Speaker 1: of the UFC fight.
- 23:09Speaker 5: I didn't. I didn't see the fight. I watched the fights,
- 23:12Speaker 5: but I guess that was during commercial. Didn't see the
- 23:14Speaker 5: actual fight.
- 23:14Speaker 1: But opposite of me, I don't watch the fights. I
- 23:17Speaker 1: only saw the fight. Yeah, so we in and yang
- 23:21Speaker 1: on that one. I don't watch the fights, but I
- 23:23Speaker 1: watched that many times and so and you can tell
- 23:26Speaker 1: me about because I saw Dana White Band somebody specific. Yeah,
- 23:29Speaker 1: but it was hilarious because all the dudes fighting are bald.
- 23:34Speaker 1: It looks like a bunch of Hey, what's on with that.
- 23:37Speaker 1: It's just a bunch of like bald dudes just going
- 23:40Speaker 1: at it, a bunch of bald heads. I didn't know
- 23:44Speaker 1: who the guy was that Dana even band. Is he
- 23:46Speaker 1: a fighter? I know who he is. I don't even
- 23:49Speaker 1: remember his name.
- 23:50Speaker 4: Dylan Dannis, Was it right, Dylan Danis?
- 23:53Speaker 5: No, it was the other one whoever he fought away
- 23:54Speaker 5: was the bigger fighter.
- 23:56Speaker 1: The guy's name who even who won that fight though
- 23:59Speaker 1: his name is Islam. And I saw a post that
- 24:01Speaker 1: said Islam's at the White House and people were getting
- 24:03Speaker 1: all pissed because I guess he took a picture. I'm
- 24:11Speaker 1: a casual as much as you could be a casual.
- 24:13Speaker 1: I'm a casual. And it was day White and the
- 24:16Speaker 1: fighter and Trump, and I said Islam at the White House,
- 24:19Speaker 1: and so I'm always up for a good comment, like dude,
- 24:23Speaker 1: And it was everybody like Trump has betrayed us, He's
- 24:27Speaker 1: not Christian. And then I'm like, no, no, no, no, no,
- 24:30Speaker 1: He's a fighter regardless of what his religion is. The
- 24:33Speaker 1: headline really meant the guy's name, yeah, Islam. Although I
- 24:38Speaker 1: thought to myself, then, whomever wrote the headline, that's pretty
- 24:41Speaker 1: smart kind of sure. Yeah, did I get got by?
- 24:44Speaker 4: Did you see the tuist comments after the game Jerusalem?
- 24:47Speaker 1: Yeah? I think I thought I didn't spend enough on it, but.
- 24:50Speaker 4: I was just I didn't anymore. And I just saw
- 24:53Speaker 4: watched it and it looks real, but I'm like, I'm
- 24:55Speaker 4: just gonna stay away from it.
- 24:56Speaker 5: What did he say?
- 24:56Speaker 1: Well, I just saw it written, so I didn't even
- 24:58Speaker 1: see ai where they were because that game was in Spain. Yeah, Madrid, Madrid,
- 25:03Speaker 1: and so they have that football game in Spain. Miami wins,
- 25:05Speaker 1: they beat the Commanders. It was an early game. Good
- 25:08Speaker 1: thank god those are over God awful, it's a bad game. Uh.
- 25:12Speaker 1: And then they were like overtime. Yeah, oh yeah, I
- 25:15Speaker 1: did you know. I've blocked that out in my mind,
- 25:18Speaker 1: just that game. I think I've blocked it out.
- 25:20Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 25:21Speaker 1: And they were like, hey, how do you feel out
- 25:22Speaker 1: playing these games in the countries, And he goes, yeah,
- 25:24Speaker 1: it would be cool, like next maybe Jerusalem.
- 25:27Speaker 5: Oh well, well, well, to be fair, they had they did.
- 25:31Speaker 5: They did them all kind of in London first, right,
- 25:34Speaker 5: like the last few seasons. Yes, now, Johnny, this is
- 25:36Speaker 5: the first I think in Spain. They did Brazil earlier
- 25:40Speaker 5: this year. So on Mexico, Yeah, they've done Mexico. So
- 25:43Speaker 5: maybe he's just.
- 25:44Speaker 1: I don't know if it was AI or not. But
- 25:45Speaker 1: also I didn't see a reason that that would be aied.
- 25:48Speaker 1: I know there's the whole Israel anti Israel, Israel, Palestine,
- 25:51Speaker 1: there's all that, But I didn't know if him saying
- 25:54Speaker 1: that would be controversial as a player.
- 25:55Speaker 4: It's just a lot of people, I don't know. They
- 25:57Speaker 4: took it where like this guy's head is just like
- 25:59Speaker 4: he shouldn't have cut back. Yeah, you know what I mean.
- 26:01Speaker 4: I'm like, is this people just taking someone running with it?
- 26:04Speaker 1: Can you AI check Brandon and see if he really
- 26:06Speaker 1: said that. I pulled it up.
- 26:07Speaker 6: It says that he said it would be pretty cool
- 26:10Speaker 6: to play a future in the NFL International Game in Julush, Jerusalem,
- 26:13Speaker 6: adding that'd be sick.
- 26:15Speaker 1: Okay, did he say that? It was it written by
- 26:18Speaker 1: a source that actually saw it. He said, you want
- 26:21Speaker 1: the clip, Yeah, but the clip could be a I too,
- 26:23Speaker 1: But I thought he did say it, and I took
- 26:25Speaker 1: no offense to anything.
- 26:26Speaker 5: I don't either.
- 26:27Speaker 1: What the crap do I care where they want to
- 26:29Speaker 1: play games? And if you wants to go to Israel
- 26:31Speaker 1: and see, that's awesome.
- 26:32Speaker 5: It's like a bucket list, right, Like Fiji would be cool,
- 26:35Speaker 5: But I guess there's no one fans Australia. The Nice
- 26:39Speaker 5: Island is not Australia.
- 26:41Speaker 1: It's right off the coast, but it's not Australia.
- 26:43Speaker 5: No, no, no, it's Fiji.
- 26:44Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, it's.
- 26:47Speaker 5: I just I just thought like if they were to
- 26:53Speaker 5: asking me, I'd be like, oh, Fiji would be cool, Mike,
- 26:56Speaker 5: maybe let me wanted to go, let me see if
- 26:57Speaker 5: I get offended, go ahead.
- 26:58Speaker 4: I hate it.
- 27:00Speaker 9: It'd be pretty cool to go play in Jerusalem.
- 27:04Speaker 1: I don't know that'd be sick.
- 27:06Speaker 5: Why does this sound like Muhammad Ali's there too, Well,
- 27:08Speaker 5: it sounds.
- 27:09Speaker 1: Like he's doing it through a phone, like a press
- 27:10Speaker 1: conference to a speaker like Charlie's Angels, that little speaker.
- 27:14Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 27:14Speaker 1: Yeah, everybody just wants to get mad about something. We're
- 27:17Speaker 1: in a rage rage environment.
- 27:19Speaker 5: Speaking of what do you think about aj Brown and
- 27:22Speaker 5: his like? I love that, dude. I wish all of
- 27:26Speaker 5: my fantasy players would tell me that ahead of time. Okay, cool,
- 27:29Speaker 5: I won't.
- 27:29Speaker 1: I'll bet you he's obviously irritated that he's not getting
- 27:34Speaker 1: the ball.
- 27:34Speaker 5: He got some targets last night.
- 27:36Speaker 1: So I think if I were him, I would be
- 27:39Speaker 1: a lot more irritated if everybody was getting the ball
- 27:41Speaker 1: but him. They just can't. They're just right right. You
- 27:44Speaker 1: know who else is who should say that is Justin
- 27:46Speaker 1: Jefferson because j J McCarthy sucks.
- 27:50Speaker 4: And Justin Jefferson wants to in the face dude.
- 27:53Speaker 1: You see, yeah, like he gets so mad.
- 27:56Speaker 5: Good for him though, Like I saw him struggling to
- 27:58Speaker 5: throw his helmet.
- 27:59Speaker 1: Like and they laid it down. He's like, you know what,
- 28:01Speaker 1: he put it down hard, but he laid it down.
- 28:04Speaker 1: I'm gonna say it, I'd be a better quarterback, jo
- 28:07Speaker 1: Jim McCarthy. It's like when someone says some college team
- 28:14Speaker 1: will beat the Browns, like like, so I think I
- 28:18Speaker 1: can play quarterback better than which is not not true
- 28:22Speaker 1: in anyway. I'm just kidding, but that that's that's an
- 28:26Speaker 1: ugly offense to watch, and they still almost won the
- 28:29Speaker 1: freaking Bears. The Bears winning, and regardless of what bad
- 28:34Speaker 1: teams they beat and how they win, they're gonna make
- 28:38Speaker 1: the playoffs. Uh, it's same with the Broncos, and the
- 28:40Speaker 1: Broncos had a good win. Think about this word about
- 28:43Speaker 1: the Broncos is they have been beating sucky teams in
- 28:46Speaker 1: weird ways, and that they didn't beat a sucky team
- 28:50Speaker 1: in a weird way, that's good. I hate that they
- 28:53Speaker 1: won because we have a bunch of money on the
- 28:54Speaker 1: Chiefs for our year long league. But man, they win games. Yeah.
- 28:59Speaker 4: I was as they won that one and they were
- 29:01Speaker 4: down the easily could have lost. Like, man, we played tough,
- 29:03Speaker 4: but they came back and they won it.
- 29:05Speaker 5: Did you see the ref run into uh Peyton?
- 29:07Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, hard and hard flag from the ground. I
- 29:13Speaker 1: didn't see Peyton was on the white line.
- 29:16Speaker 5: You can't do that.
- 29:16Speaker 1: Mount Peyton was not Peyton, Sean Payton. I can see
- 29:22Speaker 1: why you think that clipboard on the white line and
- 29:24Speaker 1: the ref is running through because I think it was
- 29:25Speaker 1: at the interception. Maybe that my home's threw and they're
- 29:27Speaker 1: going the other way, I don't remember, possibly, but the
- 29:30Speaker 1: ref is halloing but and just boom, like it hurt
- 29:32Speaker 1: both of them.
- 29:33Speaker 5: Yeah, everyone were looking. They weren't looking at each other.
- 29:36Speaker 1: And so the ref as he's down like squirming.
- 29:39Speaker 5: You could see him searching for the flag, like on
- 29:41Speaker 5: the ground, like where is that?
- 29:42Speaker 1: I know if he was twitching because of seizure. A flag.
- 29:45Speaker 5: I'll tell you though, man, as someone they see it.
- 29:47Speaker 4: He fell hard.
- 29:49Speaker 1: It hurt to see. And then he's just on one knee.
- 29:51Speaker 7: Screw it. Flag.
- 29:54Speaker 5: That's someone on the chain gang. I'll tell you, man,
- 29:55Speaker 5: you got to keep those those white lines. You gotta
- 29:58Speaker 5: keep them open.
- 29:59Speaker 1: Experience coming through. I watched this video. There are two
- 30:02Speaker 1: teams in the state championship of Texas or in the playoffs,
- 30:07Speaker 1: and the two teams were Sundown was one team. Yeah
- 30:10Speaker 1: do you see the club? Nope? But you know Sundown.
- 30:12Speaker 1: We played Sundown in high school. And there's another school
- 30:15Speaker 1: called Wink and Wink do you know them both? Okay?
- 30:18Speaker 1: And so it was forty to six, one of the
- 30:20Speaker 1: teams were winning, and there was a it was over. So, man,
- 30:25Speaker 1: I wish I had knew the exact details. But so
- 30:27Speaker 1: let's just say Sundown was up forty, Wink had six.
- 30:30Speaker 1: That's the end of it. There's like eight seconds left
- 30:32Speaker 1: in the game. Sundown with forty points is on like
- 30:36Speaker 1: their two yard line, so they have to drive ninety yards.
- 30:39Speaker 1: I but they're up thirty four points. They're not gonna
- 30:41Speaker 1: do that. They're just gonna need to take the game out.
- 30:43Speaker 1: So their coach costs timeout. Up forty to six on
- 30:47Speaker 1: their own two yard line. Their coach costs timeout and
- 30:49Speaker 1: starts walking across the field to the other side, and
- 30:52Speaker 1: the announcers, their high schol announcers, like, well, Jimbo, what
- 30:55Speaker 1: do you think you're doing over there. It's it's typical
- 30:58Speaker 1: high school announcers, but they're even wondering what's going on.
- 31:00Speaker 1: The other coach who just got pounded comes out and
- 31:03Speaker 1: they start talking and I'm ready for this fight. And
- 31:07Speaker 1: instead that coach who was down had the six points
- 31:13Speaker 1: they had like a kid who got in earlier on
- 31:15Speaker 1: a play like all year, like he just wanted to play.
- 31:18Speaker 1: It was like one of those nice things you let
- 31:20Speaker 1: somebody play. He let him play on like a kickoff
- 31:22Speaker 1: or a kickoff or turn or something. He was like, Hey,
- 31:25Speaker 1: we don't mind fumbling the ball in the end zone
- 31:27Speaker 1: if you want him to score a touchdown. Wow, that's cool,
- 31:31Speaker 1: It is cool.
- 31:33Speaker 4: Okay, I thought it was going a different way.
- 31:35Speaker 1: No, So the quarterback instead of taking a knee takes
- 31:40Speaker 1: a snap. They put in the kid and that I'm
- 31:42Speaker 1: not sure what his I don't even want to say
- 31:45Speaker 1: disability because I don't know that it was a disability. Yeah,
- 31:48Speaker 1: but they put him in and the quarterback fumbles the
- 31:51Speaker 1: ball and the other kid runs and covers it up,
- 31:53Speaker 1: and the team that only had six points, well now
- 31:55Speaker 1: they have twelve. They were so happy for the kid.
- 31:58Speaker 1: It was awesome.
- 31:59Speaker 7: That's really cool.
- 32:00Speaker 1: Yeah, and I don't always I've seen so many of those.
- 32:03Speaker 1: I'm not equally as moved as I have. After you
- 32:05Speaker 1: seen one hundred of those, it's still really cool. But
- 32:07Speaker 1: you're like, oh, that's cool, this one was good.
- 32:09Speaker 5: You know what's interesting is I've always wondered how they
- 32:11Speaker 5: communicate that when they do that. Wow, it's the time out.
- 32:14Speaker 1: Well, that one was specifically. I think the other one's
- 32:16Speaker 1: probably pre game. Yeah, there's a conversation. Yeah, let me
- 32:20Speaker 1: look and see if I saved it.
- 32:22Speaker 4: I saw one the other day, and this is why
- 32:23Speaker 4: I kind of had that look where everyone was on
- 32:26Speaker 4: the same page except for one player, the.
- 32:31Speaker 6: Memo one and then as soon as you realize what
- 32:34Speaker 6: he did, he put the hands like on his head.
- 32:39Speaker 1: What are you doing I was equally as entertained by
- 32:42Speaker 1: that one and some of the some of those that
- 32:46Speaker 1: that story of sundown, and that's the just of the story.
- 32:49Speaker 1: I might have messed up with a couple other details,
- 32:51Speaker 1: but it was really great. It's really great. So I
- 32:53Speaker 1: like that, And here's I'll do another one. We can
- 32:55Speaker 1: clip this and put this as a clip on our
- 32:57Speaker 1: show and put in the real, real clip, but there's
- 33:00Speaker 1: on Instagram. The whole question is Diddy still his touchdown,
- 33:04Speaker 1: so blocks a punt. He's like fighting, fighting, fighting, and
- 33:09Speaker 1: another guy runs up beside him and just falls on it.
- 33:13Speaker 1: So he blocks the punt and he's trying to pick
- 33:14Speaker 1: it up the whole time, and it like rolls in
- 33:15Speaker 1: the end zone. There's nobody else around, but the other
- 33:18Speaker 1: player runs in and just jumps on it.
- 33:19Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 33:19Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, that's a fault. That's kind of like when
- 33:22Speaker 5: someone steals your joke, Like you tell a funny jok
- 33:24Speaker 5: and then somebody else tells it later and they get
- 33:26Speaker 5: all the credit.
- 33:27Speaker 1: I'm not mad as the guy, no, because it's instinct.
- 33:32Speaker 1: It's on the ground and you don't know who's surrounding you. Eddie,
- 33:34Speaker 1: watch it again, see if you have the same reaction
- 33:37Speaker 1: here here we go.
- 33:40Speaker 5: Blocks the punt. He's about to get it. He's got yeah, yeah, yeah, man.
- 33:43Speaker 5: I mean the guy that blocked the punt, he had
- 33:46Speaker 5: it in his hand, that was his block, punt TD block,
- 33:50Speaker 5: and he didn't get it.
- 33:51Speaker 1: Got it, got it, get it, get it. The other
- 33:53Speaker 1: guy's just chasing him though it's a block, and they're
- 33:54Speaker 1: all just chasing the ball.
- 33:56Speaker 5: But there isn't another like another a person, you know.
- 33:59Speaker 1: But you don't look around. I know you're not. Like,
- 34:01Speaker 1: let's let's evaluate.
- 34:04Speaker 4: It's happening so fast.
- 34:05Speaker 1: It looks to be all clear. So that was kind
- 34:08Speaker 1: of fun. All right, let's get over to Ed McCaffrey, which,
- 34:14Speaker 1: by the way, I want the first thing I want
- 34:15Speaker 1: to talk to Ed about is he's got like a
- 34:17Speaker 1: mustard business. Yeah, how And I want to talk about
- 34:20Speaker 1: that first. And they're not even really he wasn't really
- 34:22Speaker 1: coming to talk about that. But I know you've been
- 34:25Speaker 1: trying to start.
- 34:27Speaker 5: Hey, I have, man, I've been trying to start a
- 34:29Speaker 5: little little something something. We're in the works of it,
- 34:31Speaker 5: but it'd be cool to hear something.
- 34:32Speaker 1: But where are you tell everybody what you're trying to start?
- 34:34Speaker 5: I'm starting starting some seasonings, and so where I'm at
- 34:37Speaker 5: is we have do you know.
- 34:38Speaker 4: About this briefly?
- 34:40Speaker 1: Okay, how long ago did you start thinking about it?
- 34:43Speaker 5: I had a meeting with Kroger over chicken. I wanted
- 34:46Speaker 5: to start my chicken business.
- 34:47Speaker 1: The meeting from Kroger. Where'd that come from?
- 34:50Speaker 5: I saw a guy at Kroger who recognized me from
- 34:53Speaker 5: the show. He worked for Kroger, and then on the
- 34:56Speaker 5: show we started talking about chicken, and he's like, dude,
- 34:58Speaker 5: anytime you want to talk about chicken at Kroger, I'm guy. Come,
- 35:00Speaker 5: let's set up a meeting. So we set up a
- 35:02Speaker 5: meeting with a guy at Kroger about my chicken, and
- 35:06Speaker 5: then another guy came in, regional manager was like, man,
- 35:08Speaker 5: we really don't do chickens. It's just not a thing
- 35:10Speaker 5: that we like to get into. He's like, do you
- 35:12Speaker 5: have a season or anything? I'm like, do I have
- 35:14Speaker 5: a seasoning? So I've been trying to work on getting
- 35:17Speaker 5: a seasoning done so I can possibly put it on
- 35:21Speaker 5: Kroger or whatever start that, but it's for It's taken
- 35:24Speaker 5: forever to find a co packer to make the seasoning.
- 35:28Speaker 5: Like I can make the season at home. But to
- 35:30Speaker 5: make a bunch of seasonings and bottle them, I need
- 35:33Speaker 5: to find a co packer, which we have finally found
- 35:35Speaker 5: a copacker.
- 35:36Speaker 1: Did you get the taste strike because you were like
- 35:37Speaker 1: tasting all this stuff from the lab.
- 35:39Speaker 5: So we would get samples back from co packers and
- 35:42Speaker 5: be like, it's just not the texture. I like, it's
- 35:43Speaker 5: to powdery, send it back. I have to find another
- 35:46Speaker 5: co packer. But I think we found the right co
- 35:48Speaker 5: packer and we're in business, baby.
- 35:50Speaker 1: But you've said we're in business the whole time, and
- 35:52Speaker 1: there is no business. It's an operation.
- 35:55Speaker 5: We're slowly getting there. It's a baby steps because.
- 35:59Speaker 1: I wanted to be and I haven't had a baby yet.
- 36:01Speaker 1: But eventually baby start to walk right, yeah, and they
- 36:04Speaker 1: turn into yeah. Yeah, it's been talk.
- 36:07Speaker 5: We've been we've been google GoGG in for a while years,
- 36:12Speaker 5: a couple of years. Yeah, but now we're starting to
- 36:14Speaker 5: crawl a little bit.
- 36:15Speaker 1: But we're oh, slow developing.
- 36:18Speaker 5: It's a healthy baby, though, healthy baby, and we're happy
- 36:21Speaker 5: with it. Yes, getting there, and we love the baby.
- 36:28Speaker 5: What's either way?
- 36:28Speaker 1: Of course? Yeah, what's the plan too?
- 36:33Speaker 5: To produce this season in and sell it?
- 36:37Speaker 1: But how much of it. How where are you in
- 36:38Speaker 1: the process of one hundred percent as you're ready to
- 36:40Speaker 1: sell it today, even just out of your house right now?
- 36:43Speaker 5: The process is getting a sample back from the new coopacker,
- 36:47Speaker 5: I'd say we're probably a he doesn't want I'd say
- 36:52Speaker 5: five months. I'd say five months.
- 36:53Speaker 1: You've got to say a year.
- 36:54Speaker 4: And then you went to find he doesn't want to.
- 36:56Speaker 1: He doesn't want to, you know, from a year to find.
- 37:00Speaker 5: Because I was looking at next year, you know, like
- 37:02Speaker 5: next year.
- 37:04Speaker 1: You weren't saying.
- 37:07Speaker 5: You were saying, I say five or six months, we'll
- 37:11Speaker 5: have something.
- 37:12Speaker 1: But what's something mean?
- 37:13Speaker 5: Bottles?
- 37:13Speaker 4: Like can we try it bottles? Yeah, we get how
- 37:16Speaker 4: do you try it by the way? Do you put
- 37:17Speaker 4: it on something or you just try it by itself first.
- 37:20Speaker 5: He's trying to do a little taste tests with your
- 37:22Speaker 5: with your tongue. Yeah, and then you try it on
- 37:23Speaker 5: food and which foods does it work on?
- 37:25Speaker 1: What's it called.
- 37:27Speaker 5: I'm not gonna let that cat out of the bag yet, Brandon,
- 37:29Speaker 5: but I appreciate your inquiry.
- 37:31Speaker 1: All right, good job, it's pretty good anyway. Ed McCaffrey's
- 37:34Speaker 1: got some oh yeah, yeah. So because of that we're
- 37:37Speaker 1: going to start with this. He played thirteen seasons. I
- 37:39Speaker 1: only remember him as a Bronco no idea.
- 37:42Speaker 4: He played for the Niners and won a Super Bowl.
- 37:44Speaker 1: Yep, me either Giants forty nine ers Broncos won a
- 37:47Speaker 1: Super Bowl to the Niners ninety five. Two Broncos Super
- 37:49Speaker 1: Bowls in the nineties after that, fifty five career touchdowns
- 37:52Speaker 1: over seven thousand career receiving yards. Big thanks to Ed
- 37:55Speaker 1: for coming on. He is a dad, the father of
- 37:56Speaker 1: Christian McCaffrey and Luke who's who. Because of all the injuries,
- 38:01Speaker 1: has had to play a lot and it's played pretty well.
- 38:02Speaker 4: But then he got hurt.
- 38:03Speaker 1: Yeah, he did get hurt. He also, yes, I believe so,
- 38:07Speaker 1: or some would call it cla.
- 38:09Speaker 5: That's the technical term, doctor bones.
- 38:13Speaker 1: He played quarterback in college and switched out to wide
- 38:16Speaker 1: receivers last year. Yeah. Oh yeah, like at like Rice.
- 38:19Speaker 1: I'm going from membery oh, you're right, yeah, that's right.
- 38:22Speaker 5: Yeah, all right, mar kids, m smart kids. Didn't Christian
- 38:26Speaker 5: go to Stanford?
- 38:27Speaker 1: Isn't there a third that coaches that would be.
- 38:33Speaker 4: I don't know, sorry, I think of the Mannings, No.
- 38:38Speaker 1: Arch, you think of the hardball Marchie McCaffrey. He is,
- 38:43Speaker 1: They're great. Ed McCaffrey. All right, swift Ed McCaffrey on
- 38:46Speaker 1: somebody that I watched a lot as a kid, was
- 38:48Speaker 1: a big fan of. And I'm sure everybody wants to
- 38:50Speaker 1: talk football, ed, but the first thing that I want
- 38:52Speaker 1: to talk about because my buddy here is also trying
- 38:55Speaker 1: to like do sauces, and I know that you did.
- 38:58Speaker 1: You have your Rocky Mountain Is that what? What's the
- 39:02Speaker 1: brand called?
- 39:03Speaker 6: Ed?
- 39:03Speaker 9: Yeah, it's McCaffrey's Rocky Mountain Mustard and horse Radish sauces.
- 39:07Speaker 9: And we're looking to expand in other categories as well.
- 39:09Speaker 1: Okay, so maybe weird, but I want to talk about
- 39:12Speaker 1: that first Eddie over to year.
- 39:14Speaker 5: I think that's awesome. I'm also trying to do spices.
- 39:16Speaker 5: But how do you break into this world of not
- 39:21Speaker 5: really food, right, because it's like sauces and spice, it's different.
- 39:24Speaker 5: How did all this start for you?
- 39:25Speaker 9: Yeah, well, you know, it probably started with my love
- 39:29Speaker 9: of flavor.
- 39:30Speaker 7: Like when I was a kid.
- 39:31Speaker 9: I was eight years old and I played Pop Worner
- 39:33Speaker 9: football and I was really tall. I wasn't like overweight
- 39:36Speaker 9: in terms of being a fat little kid, but I
- 39:39Speaker 9: was tall, so I had to make weight for my
- 39:41Speaker 9: pop Worner football team. So I was like on a
- 39:43Speaker 9: hot dog and cabbage diet. It was like an original
- 39:47Speaker 9: Atkins diet when I was like eight and nine. So
- 39:49Speaker 9: I always had this thing with eating, you know, hot
- 39:53Speaker 9: dogs and cabbage and trying to make them taste better
- 39:56Speaker 9: than they did. And so you know, I was introduced
- 39:58Speaker 9: to spicy brown mustard and early age. And then eventually
- 40:01Speaker 9: I moved to Pennsylvania, and if you know anything about Pennsylvania,
- 40:04Speaker 9: there's a lot of mustard made there, very German and
- 40:06Speaker 9: Pennsylvania Dutch influence. So again, you know, I was trying
- 40:10Speaker 9: to eat healthy in a high school athlete, hoping to
- 40:12Speaker 9: play college ball one day. And so I was eating
- 40:14Speaker 9: pretty healthy and eat a lot of really bland foods, right,
- 40:18Speaker 9: like non fat turkey burger and chicken sandwiches, And they
- 40:22Speaker 9: can get pretty dry and bland if you don't add
- 40:25Speaker 9: some flavor to them. So you know, I grew up
- 40:27Speaker 9: loving food, loving flavors, trying to make healthy food taste better,
- 40:31Speaker 9: trying to make good food taste better. But the way
- 40:34Speaker 9: I get introduced to the business was really by luck.
- 40:36Speaker 9: I had my business partner Ti, who approached me in
- 40:39Speaker 9: the nineties when we were winning Super Bowls with the
- 40:42Speaker 9: Broncos and wanted me to do a cereal. You've probably
- 40:45Speaker 9: seen all the cereals, right. I had eds En Zonoes.
- 40:48Speaker 9: I thought it was pretty cool. It was pretty cool
- 40:49Speaker 9: box that lasted for a couple of years. So we
- 40:52Speaker 9: did cereal, We did Eddie mac and cheese, we did
- 40:55Speaker 9: a couple other products.
- 40:56Speaker 7: But you know, at the time I'm playing, right, I'm like,
- 40:58Speaker 7: football is my day job, and we were doing this
- 41:00Speaker 7: for fun and to raise some money for charity.
- 41:02Speaker 9: But I did it, and at some point he asked me, like,
- 41:05Speaker 9: you know, what food do you eat every day? What's
- 41:06Speaker 9: your favorite food? And at this point, I'm thinking, look,
- 41:08Speaker 9: I don't know, man. I had fun with the cereal
- 41:10Speaker 9: and some but you know what, I eat mustard every day.
- 41:13Speaker 9: And I kind of thought he would leave it at
- 41:15Speaker 9: that and it wouldn't wouldn't go any further.
- 41:18Speaker 7: But he was interested in pursuing that avenue.
- 41:22Speaker 9: So we approached a bunch of different manufacturers and we finally.
- 41:28Speaker 7: Found one that did a phenomenal job.
- 41:30Speaker 9: I tasted like one hundred different you know ingredient combinations
- 41:34Speaker 9: until I came up with a spicy brown mustard that
- 41:37Speaker 9: I like the best that I put on all my sandwiches.
- 41:40Speaker 9: I went on my off day, we barbecued and put
- 41:43Speaker 9: it on my hot dogs, hamburgers, and brats. You know,
- 41:45Speaker 9: I dip pretzels in it for a snack. And the
- 41:47Speaker 9: reason I like mustard so much is one, it's very flavorful,
- 41:50Speaker 9: and also it's zero calories, very healthy a condiment if
- 41:56Speaker 9: you're going to put a condiment on your foods, so
- 41:58Speaker 9: I preferred mustard and and so you know, we threw
- 42:01Speaker 9: a label on it and started selling it, and it's
- 42:05Speaker 9: been selling since nineteen ninety eight. And I really didn't
- 42:08Speaker 9: try to expand the business up until a year ago.
- 42:12Speaker 9: And the reason was, you know, I was coaching, I
- 42:16Speaker 9: was broadcasting for the Broncos, doing all these different things.
- 42:20Speaker 9: But the reason it's still around us because it tastes
- 42:22Speaker 9: so damn good. It's really really good. I'll put our
- 42:24Speaker 9: spicy brown mustard up against any mustard on the planet.
- 42:27Speaker 9: But over the years, we've had a great partnership with Kroger,
- 42:32Speaker 9: with Safeway and with some other retailers, and they've asked
- 42:36Speaker 9: us to come up with other flavor profiles. So I've
- 42:40Speaker 9: worked with our manufacturers to create a Sarascha mustard, a
- 42:44Speaker 9: Chipotle mustard in addition to our regular Horse Radish sauce,
- 42:48Speaker 9: which is out of this world. It's a squeeze bottle
- 42:50Speaker 9: twelve ound squeze bottle Horse Radish sauce that I think
- 42:53Speaker 9: is phenomenal. Not a lot of competition in that category.
- 42:56Speaker 9: We're coming up with a smoky Horse Radish sauce. And
- 42:59Speaker 9: in the past we've had beer mustard, which we're gonna
- 43:01Speaker 9: launch again in twenty twenty six.
- 43:03Speaker 7: We've had honey mustard and de Jon.
- 43:04Speaker 9: We've had a lot of different variations over the years,
- 43:08Speaker 9: but mustard is just it's one of my favorite things
- 43:11Speaker 9: to put on all my different types of foods that
- 43:13Speaker 9: I eat, especially healthy foods.
- 43:14Speaker 7: So we're in the business of making good food taste better.
- 43:17Speaker 7: That's the goal.
- 43:18Speaker 9: So every condiment and every sauce that we create, it
- 43:21Speaker 9: has one purpose to make good food taste better. If
- 43:24Speaker 9: we can make food taste better, we're happy.
- 43:26Speaker 1: I'm big mustard guy. Love number one condiment like Mount
- 43:29Speaker 1: Rushmore Condiment's mustard. I have friends that are big wine
- 43:33Speaker 1: guys and they can their palate has developed to the
- 43:35Speaker 1: point where they can tell the difference in wine. So
- 43:37Speaker 1: I wonder with your palate, can you tell the difference
- 43:39Speaker 1: in mustards and like how long a mustard is, where
- 43:42Speaker 1: it's from what's been added to it?
- 43:45Speaker 9: Pretty easily, Yeah, I mean there's a distinct difference between well,
- 43:50Speaker 9: there's a distinct difference between the taste of spicy brown mustard,
- 43:53Speaker 9: which uses brown mustard seeds, and yellow mustard, which uses
- 43:56Speaker 9: yellow mustard seeds. And then you know the different peppers
- 43:59Speaker 9: that we use. Cayenne pepper is different than a saracha pepper,
- 44:03Speaker 9: which is different than a chipotle pepper. Chipotle is like
- 44:06Speaker 9: a sweeter flavor. It's very very distinct. You'd be able
- 44:10Speaker 9: to tell the difference.
- 44:11Speaker 1: That's crazy. Did I definitely didn't expect the first part
- 44:13Speaker 1: of this interview to be all about mustard, But I'm
- 44:15Speaker 1: such a mustard fan and Eddie's like trying to you know,
- 44:18Speaker 1: saw And so I appreciate you talking us through that.
- 44:20Speaker 3: Ed.
- 44:22Speaker 7: Yeah, no, I appreciate it, And thanks for mentioning on
- 44:24Speaker 7: the show.
- 44:25Speaker 9: We were very proud of it. A year ago we
- 44:28Speaker 9: hired a couple more people. We have a pr marketing
- 44:30Speaker 9: firm probably set this interview up right, and then we
- 44:33Speaker 9: have a website. You can buy our product on Amazon
- 44:36Speaker 9: now and on the website mccaffree brands dot com, or
- 44:38Speaker 9: go to Kroger. We're expanding nationally starting in twenty twenty six.
- 44:43Speaker 9: So it's really become an obsession of mine and I'm
- 44:46Speaker 9: looking forward to you know, I like the creative part
- 44:48Speaker 9: about it, which just means I really like eating food
- 44:51Speaker 9: and sampling all the different flavor profiles that are presented
- 44:54Speaker 9: to me. And we're looking forward to coming out with
- 44:56Speaker 9: different different products as well, Hot Sauces catch Up, which
- 45:00Speaker 9: I know some of you on the show like not everybody,
- 45:02Speaker 9: and some other really creative flavors that we think will
- 45:06Speaker 9: enhance everybody's tailgate experience.
- 45:08Speaker 1: Okay, let's go to a little bit of football, and
- 45:10Speaker 1: mostly I want to ask about the psychology of after
- 45:14Speaker 1: an injury because I remember back in two thousand and
- 45:15Speaker 1: one there was a leg fracture. I want to show
- 45:17Speaker 1: you my foot now because we got I'm in a boot.
- 45:20Speaker 1: I just graduated to a boot. I don't know if
- 45:22Speaker 1: you can see that.
- 45:22Speaker 7: Would you do well?
- 45:23Speaker 1: Much like yourself when you were playing football? I was
- 45:25Speaker 1: doing a little something called playing pickleball, and I had
- 45:27Speaker 1: to have ankle surgery, so very similar, very similar injuries.
- 45:30Speaker 1: And so the psychology of after an injury when you
- 45:33Speaker 1: have a leg fracture, which is way less ideal than
- 45:37Speaker 1: an ankle surgery, which mine was pretty clean, like how
- 45:40Speaker 1: long until not until it heals, but till you actually
- 45:42Speaker 1: have the trust and faith that you can push on
- 45:45Speaker 1: it again.
- 45:45Speaker 7: Oh man, you know, I was in a boot just
- 45:48Speaker 7: like you.
- 45:48Speaker 9: I had a you know, a compound tip fib fracture,
- 45:52Speaker 9: and so they had to put a titanium rod in there.
- 45:55Speaker 9: Took that home depot or Low's you know drill, and
- 45:58Speaker 9: just drilled the top and bottom the rods like the
- 46:00Speaker 9: length of your shinbone. So I had a, you know,
- 46:02Speaker 9: pretty major surgery performed on it. I was in a
- 46:05Speaker 9: boot like you were for a couple months, and then
- 46:07Speaker 9: you go through that slow rehab. But I played in
- 46:09Speaker 9: a game. We played the Buffalo Bills week one the
- 46:12Speaker 9: following season. I had gotten hurt on actually nine to ten,
- 46:16Speaker 9: first game of the season in our new stadium at
- 46:18Speaker 9: the time, in power Field at Mile High, and in
- 46:21Speaker 9: less than a year, played in the opener the following year.
- 46:23Speaker 9: But I tell you, I rehab morning, noon, and night
- 46:26Speaker 9: every day for an entire year just to be able
- 46:29Speaker 9: to get back on the field.
- 46:31Speaker 1: So you did take it very seriously. And I had
- 46:35Speaker 1: a professional athlete friend of mine that was giving me
- 46:37Speaker 1: a little drills to do all the time, like he's like, hey,
- 46:40Speaker 1: it don't get stiff if you don't constantly work it.
- 46:42Speaker 1: So you took your rehab very seriously to bounce.
- 46:44Speaker 7: Back very seriously. Yeah, my goal was to play Opening
- 46:47Speaker 7: Day and I achieved that.
- 46:48Speaker 9: It was one of the most emotional games in my life.
- 46:51Speaker 9: For most people, it was hey, just week one regular
- 46:53Speaker 9: season game. But for me, you know, I went from
- 46:56Speaker 9: thinking I'd never play football again as I was getting
- 46:58Speaker 9: carted off the field, that I might not have feeling
- 47:02Speaker 9: in my toes, which I didn't have at the time.
- 47:05Speaker 9: I was just hoping to have feeling in my toes back.
- 47:07Speaker 9: And then once I had the surgery and they said
- 47:09Speaker 9: there's a chance you could still play long as you
- 47:11Speaker 9: heal properly, then then my goal was to play Week
- 47:14Speaker 9: one and so that was a major major goal for me.
- 47:17Speaker 9: It was emotional, I'm not going to be able to
- 47:19Speaker 9: actually still play football. After that break less than a
- 47:22Speaker 9: year later. Was it was it was moving, you know,
- 47:26Speaker 9: but it wasn't. It wasn't just luck. I mean I
- 47:29Speaker 9: literally had to rehab three times a day for a year,
- 47:33Speaker 9: and it took a lot of time and effort, and
- 47:35Speaker 9: there was no guarantee that I'd be able to come back.
- 47:37Speaker 1: Yeah, we're a lot of like it's I feel about
- 47:39Speaker 1: pick aball tournaments. I don't know if I'll ever get
- 47:40Speaker 1: back there, but it's very similar whenever, real quick, I'm.
- 47:45Speaker 9: A friend with a lot of Unfortunately for me and
- 47:49Speaker 9: having four kids that played football and having played in
- 47:51Speaker 9: the NFL for thirteen years, I'm friends with a lot
- 47:53Speaker 9: of orthopedic surgeons and they tell me the pickupball is
- 47:57Speaker 9: the best thing that has happened to their business in
- 47:59Speaker 9: a long long time.
- 48:00Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 48:00Speaker 1: When I went in because I had the surgery a
- 48:02Speaker 1: week and a half ago, when I went in for
- 48:04Speaker 1: my first physical therapy, the guy was like, oh, yeah,
- 48:06Speaker 1: this is what most people come in for now. It's
- 48:08Speaker 1: because of pickleball. Because it's like I'm in my forties
- 48:11Speaker 1: and I was an okay athlete, but like I still
- 48:13Speaker 1: find fulfillment and competing, So that's what I compete in now,
- 48:16Speaker 1: but it is not good for the joints anyway. Not
- 48:18Speaker 1: to make it about me. I just thought we were
- 48:20Speaker 1: very similar our injury. But does that help like when
- 48:23Speaker 1: like when Christian had his injury and now you know,
- 48:25Speaker 1: pretty bad injury you having gone through that, is it
- 48:29Speaker 1: nice to be able to lean on that experience to
- 48:31Speaker 1: kind of talk him through it as well?
- 48:32Speaker 7: Yeah?
- 48:32Speaker 9: Real quick, when you mentioned pickles, you know what I
- 48:34Speaker 9: think of I think of pickles because in nineteen ninety
- 48:36Speaker 9: eight I had a choice. I could have endorsed pickles
- 48:39Speaker 9: as well, but Adam Denmark, Adam dead Marsh for the Avalanche,
- 48:43Speaker 9: ended up doing it instead. He went with dead Marsh Dill.
- 48:45Speaker 9: I went with most. He went with dead Marsh Dills
- 48:48Speaker 9: when that was the first thing I thought. But yeah,
- 48:52Speaker 9: look back to the serious question. Look, I'm a dad.
- 48:55Speaker 9: I'm a dad first. You know, I've coached all my
- 48:57Speaker 9: kids as they've grown up, throughout their lives, and I
- 48:59Speaker 9: think I have a unique experience that I can lend
- 49:01Speaker 9: to them when they are interested in asking me questions.
- 49:04Speaker 7: Sometimes they are, sometimes they aren't.
- 49:06Speaker 9: And I share with them, you know what I think
- 49:08Speaker 9: will be valuable if they ask and you know, unfortunately,
- 49:11Speaker 9: I've gone through that experience. So I try to be
- 49:14Speaker 9: just a dad, let them know I love them and
- 49:16Speaker 9: care about them, and then walk them through the process.
- 49:19Speaker 9: But they're you know, they're all grown up now. They
- 49:21Speaker 9: kind of get it. You know, they've battled through adversity
- 49:24Speaker 9: each each one of them in their own way, and
- 49:27Speaker 9: they've all had injuries at some point throughout their lives,
- 49:30Speaker 9: so they kind of get the drill. There's no sugar
- 49:33Speaker 9: coating an injury. You know, at least I can speak
- 49:36Speaker 9: for my kids. They absolutely love football and they've committed
- 49:39Speaker 9: their lives to it, and so to miss games is
- 49:41Speaker 9: really really frustrating. It's, you know, you think it'd be
- 49:45Speaker 9: the pain of the injury, it's that's the least of it.
- 49:47Speaker 9: It's not being able to take the field with your teammates,
- 49:50Speaker 9: not being able to go to battle, and having to
- 49:53Speaker 9: watch everybody else have all the fun. That that's what's
- 49:56Speaker 9: so torturous. And then just knowing there's not a quick fix.
- 50:00Speaker 9: It's going to be a long, lengthy process till you
- 50:03Speaker 9: get back. So what you do is you start setting
- 50:06Speaker 9: little daily goals. Right, what's the next thing I have
- 50:08Speaker 9: to do and you just slowly accomplish one little goal.
- 50:11Speaker 7: At a time until you're back on the field.
- 50:14Speaker 1: I was looking at some stats back in two thousand.
- 50:16Speaker 1: Both you and Rodd Smith at one hundred catches. Both
- 50:18Speaker 1: of you guys at a time whenever they didn't throw
- 50:20Speaker 1: the ball as much, but you both had one hundred catches.
- 50:23Speaker 1: What was that huddle like? Was it constantly? Was it,
- 50:26Speaker 1: We're an offense that just throws the ball.
- 50:27Speaker 7: Well, Bobby, I had one hundred and one catches.
- 50:29Speaker 1: Okay, enough, fair enough.
- 50:33Speaker 9: Yeah, I had one hundred and one. I was taken
- 50:35Speaker 9: out after the third quarter, so we could have had
- 50:38Speaker 9: one hundred and seven or eight if they fed us,
- 50:39Speaker 9: but we didn't do back that. Back then, we had
- 50:42Speaker 9: a phenomenal football team. We had a pretty good run game.
- 50:45Speaker 9: We had a good quarterback. We had a got named
- 50:47Speaker 9: John Elway. We had a running back now named Terrell Davis.
- 50:50Speaker 9: We had a tight end named Shannon Sharp, we had
- 50:53Speaker 9: Rod Smith and I. We had won a couple of
- 50:55Speaker 9: Super Bowls, right, So that year we were throwing the
- 50:57Speaker 9: ball around a little bit more. But we was on
- 51:00Speaker 9: the back of many, many successful seasons, and you know
- 51:04Speaker 9: that particular year, I think Rod and I might have
- 51:07Speaker 9: sat out four or five games in the fourth quarter.
- 51:11Speaker 9: I mean, we each had one hundred catches, which was
- 51:13Speaker 9: really cool. We were one of the few duos to
- 51:15Speaker 9: have done that at the time in a long long time.
- 51:18Speaker 9: And we didn't even throw the ball that much. We
- 51:20Speaker 9: had a very balanced offense and great run game, but
- 51:23Speaker 9: it was one of those We were on one of
- 51:25Speaker 9: those teams where the team came first, right, so we
- 51:27Speaker 9: didn't really we didn't really feed anyone receiver and it
- 51:32Speaker 9: just happened to be that way.
- 51:34Speaker 7: And Rod and I.
- 51:35Speaker 9: Rod was one of the greatest teammates I ever played with,
- 51:37Speaker 9: and you know, we climbed the ranks together. We were
- 51:40Speaker 9: both backups at one point that we're only getting in
- 51:43Speaker 9: on run plays, and we used to take a lot
- 51:45Speaker 9: of pride in decleating defenders, and so we would tally
- 51:48Speaker 9: up how many guys we actually got on the ground
- 51:50Speaker 9: throughout the game. And one of the biggest compliments for
- 51:53Speaker 9: us was if coach Shanahan stopped the film that we
- 51:55Speaker 9: were watching in front of the team and pointing us
- 51:57Speaker 9: out like on the back side of a run play decleating.
- 52:00Speaker 9: We had a little five dollars bets to see who
- 52:02Speaker 9: could have the most decleaders in a game.
- 52:04Speaker 7: So we kind of.
- 52:04Speaker 9: Climbed up the ranks, me having come from San Francisco
- 52:08Speaker 9: and serving as a backup, and Rod climbing up through
- 52:10Speaker 9: the ranks as a guy that was on the practice squad.
- 52:12Speaker 9: And so to be able to play that many years,
- 52:14Speaker 9: you know, my whole Denver career with Rod, and being
- 52:17Speaker 9: able to start at the bottom and climb up to
- 52:20Speaker 9: the top where we were starters on Super Bowl teams
- 52:22Speaker 9: was a.
- 52:23Speaker 7: Really cool experience.
- 52:24Speaker 9: And we were you know, I was excited for him
- 52:26Speaker 9: when he scored, he was excited for me, And that
- 52:28Speaker 9: was really a unique experience having someone in your receiver
- 52:31Speaker 9: room that at one point, you know, one point, you're
- 52:34Speaker 9: competing for your job with him. Right to have him
- 52:38Speaker 9: be such an incredible friend and great teammate was was
- 52:41Speaker 9: a real blessing for me.
- 52:42Speaker 1: I've got three questions left here for you, and I'll
- 52:45Speaker 1: start with this one. You mentioned coach Shanahan. What kind
- 52:48Speaker 1: of coach was he? When coaches are defined as a player,
- 52:51Speaker 1: coach as a disciplinarian, how would you define coach Shanahan.
- 52:54Speaker 9: He's a Hall of Fame head football coach and he
- 52:56Speaker 9: should be in really soon. I know there's like new
- 53:00Speaker 9: rules regarding how many coaches are allowed in per year,
- 53:02Speaker 9: and they seem like they changed the weight every time,
- 53:05Speaker 9: and think they changed it recently, so other coaches can
- 53:08Speaker 9: getting quicker than waiting the five years.
- 53:11Speaker 7: But he is. He was a true professional.
- 53:14Speaker 9: And when you think of Hall of Fame football coach,
- 53:17Speaker 9: you know, I think of Mike Shanahan. I got to
- 53:19Speaker 9: play for him for ten years. We won a Super
- 53:22Speaker 9: Bowl with the San Francisco forty nine ers in nineteen
- 53:26Speaker 9: ninety four. Then I joined him in Denver. Thank goodness,
- 53:29Speaker 9: he brought me with him, and we won another too
- 53:31Speaker 9: in Denver. He paid attention to detail, you know, he
- 53:36Speaker 9: had an incredible system in place, and he was paid
- 53:39Speaker 9: a lot of attention to the little things, which really
- 53:42Speaker 9: are big things. And he really believed in team first,
- 53:46Speaker 9: and everyone on our team absolutely believed in him. And
- 53:51Speaker 9: you know that's why I think a lot of players
- 53:54Speaker 9: signed with us as free agents from other teams.
- 53:56Speaker 7: They saw what he was building.
- 53:58Speaker 9: And in between Mike Shanahan and and a quarterback like
- 54:01Speaker 9: John Elway, there were a lot of players that wanted
- 54:03Speaker 9: to be part of what we were doing. But it
- 54:04Speaker 9: started started with Pat Bollan who hired Mike, and then
- 54:07Speaker 9: Mike who really was a pioneer. And I don't know
- 54:11Speaker 9: if he gets enough credit for it, but when you
- 54:13Speaker 9: look at his coaching tree, it's not just just his
- 54:16Speaker 9: son Kyle, who my son is now playing for right.
- 54:19Speaker 9: It's uh, you know, coach McVay with the Rams, It's
- 54:22Speaker 9: coach Lafleur with Green Bay. It's coach McDaniel in Miami.
- 54:26Speaker 9: And there's another five or six or seven or eight
- 54:28Speaker 9: coaches that were in his coaching tree that have had
- 54:31Speaker 9: incredible success. And it's it's not just the x'es and
- 54:34Speaker 9: o's that he taught them, which obviously helped them become
- 54:37Speaker 9: great coordinators but and eventually had coaches, But it's the
- 54:42Speaker 9: systems that he put in place.
- 54:43Speaker 7: How to.
- 54:46Speaker 9: You know, script a practice, how to organize an off season,
- 54:51Speaker 9: how to bring in the right people around you to
- 54:54Speaker 9: complement your skill sets. It's all these things that he
- 54:56Speaker 9: did that led to his success and a lot of many,
- 55:00Speaker 9: many many successful coaches have kind of copied, if you will,
- 55:04Speaker 9: and then made their own his systems.
- 55:07Speaker 1: Two questions left. I do a podcast with a former
- 55:11Speaker 1: Patriot who you know, Patriots won a bunch of Super Bowls.
- 55:13Speaker 1: And we talk about after the Super Bowl the parties.
- 55:17Speaker 1: What was a super Bowl party, like the official party,
- 55:19Speaker 1: Like after you guys won those Super Bowls with the Broncos,
- 55:22Speaker 1: were they as big as they are now?
- 55:24Speaker 9: No, they were not as big as they are now.
- 55:26Speaker 9: And I don't even remember our parties. I remember, you know,
- 55:30Speaker 9: you're it's a night game, so you're done really really late.
- 55:33Speaker 7: And then I'll tell you what. I don't even remember
- 55:35Speaker 7: a party.
- 55:36Speaker 9: I know we've had to have a pact and waiting
- 55:40Speaker 9: outside our hotel room at like five am. So by
- 55:43Speaker 9: the time you get back, it's midnight and you have
- 55:45Speaker 9: like a few hours until you're playing leaves for the parade.
- 55:49Speaker 9: Now now they do it differently. They have huge parties
- 55:52Speaker 9: some days. Sometimes they wait another whole day before they
- 55:55Speaker 9: have their parade. But back then, I believe we had
- 55:58Speaker 9: our parade the next day, so we had to get
- 56:00Speaker 9: home pretty quickly.
- 56:01Speaker 1: All right. Final question, like, for real, what's happening underneath
- 56:04Speaker 1: the Denver Airport? Like what do you know is there
- 56:06Speaker 1: some kind of secret some secret stuff happening underneath there?
- 56:09Speaker 9: Right, there's absolutely some secret stuff happening. Yeah, International Airport.
- 56:14Speaker 7: I'm not at liberty to discussion. Here's stuff going on.
- 56:20Speaker 1: It is creepy. Okay. You know he's not saying much
- 56:23Speaker 1: because he knows much. That's why you guys can go McCaffrey,
- 56:27Speaker 1: Rocky Mountain dot com, or like you said, you can

- 58:32Speaker 4: it's a lot.
- 58:32Speaker 1: Of flashing.
- 58:35Speaker 4: No, no, there's no fire or anything, but it's a
- 58:38Speaker 4: lot of like flashing lights and different colors and throwing
- 58:41Speaker 4: stuff in your face. And it was super legit. The
- 58:45Speaker 4: acting was great, the singing was great, the people in
- 58:48Speaker 4: the crowd were was definitely. That was a show in
- 58:50Speaker 4: itself too, because there was quite the mix from obviously
- 58:53Speaker 4: the young kids that are all dressed up to the
- 58:55Speaker 4: grown adults that are all dressed up as well that
- 58:57Speaker 4: are super into it.
- 58:58Speaker 1: But the play itself was.
- 58:59Speaker 4: Really really good.
- 59:02Speaker 1: Rate it? How many beasts?
- 59:04Speaker 4: What are we doing?
- 59:04Speaker 7: That? Of five?
- 59:06Speaker 4: Okay, I'll give it a four point two.
- 59:09Speaker 5: Four point two beasts out of five?
- 59:11Speaker 7: Yeah?
- 59:11Speaker 1: Yeah. How much your tickets to that thing?
- 59:14Speaker 4: We paid seventy five apiece.
- 59:17Speaker 1: We're up top. Have you guys seen Wicked, the the movie?
- 59:21Speaker 1: Have you seen in theater?
- 59:23Speaker 5: Oh?
- 59:23Speaker 7: The new one?
- 59:24Speaker 1: I'm sorry? Have you seen the theater version of the play? No?
- 59:27Speaker 4: I have not.
- 59:28Speaker 1: I've not seen a lot of musicals. I don't know
- 59:32Speaker 1: what a lot even means, but I've never been to
- 59:34Speaker 1: one and thought, well that sucked. They're all, yes, they're great, awesome,
- 59:39Speaker 1: but it wasn't your wife? Is that what she did? Yeah?
- 59:42Speaker 1: She was on Broadway in New York for seven years?
- 59:45Speaker 1: Isn't that crazy?
- 59:45Speaker 7: What?
- 59:46Speaker 1: Wow?
- 59:46Speaker 7: Man?
- 59:47Speaker 1: Like the seven that's major leagues? Yeah, like yeah, we
- 59:50Speaker 1: think we're like a little funny podcast ESPN look at us.
- 59:52Speaker 1: Well me, no, you guys, Yeah, Cass, I'm kidding. But
- 59:58Speaker 1: like she was, like, that's like major league for that
- 1:00:02Speaker 1: many years. Huh.
- 1:00:04Speaker 6: Yeah, And she just you know, her experience from you know,
- 1:00:07Speaker 6: auditioning all the time. And what's what's her name that
- 1:00:10Speaker 6: played that was in Wicked, the.
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: Original Christian Genowy, the other one Frozer, guess.
- 1:00:25Speaker 5: One got there got Therenuel Miranda.
- 1:00:30Speaker 6: Cat from Cats. I think she was in uh, the Phantom.
- 1:00:41Speaker 6: She was in a play who with a Diana Monzel
- 1:00:43Speaker 6: who was your wife? My wife was Aida? And then
- 1:00:47Speaker 6: she was in uh another play with the guy who
- 1:00:50Speaker 6: played the original Phantom, and it was it was known
- 1:00:55Speaker 6: as the biggest flop on Broadway. It was called Dance
- 1:00:59Speaker 6: of the Vampires and there was so much money going
- 1:01:01Speaker 6: into this and so much hype and it just flopped,
- 1:01:06Speaker 6: you know. But she was in some other.
- 1:01:08Speaker 5: It's a terrible wasn't her.
- 1:01:11Speaker 1: You could have stopped. You could have stopped with it.
- 1:01:13Speaker 1: She was with Idina Mizel. We didn't need all that.
- 1:01:17Speaker 10: She was point in her life. Then she suffered through
- 1:01:21Speaker 10: a lot of depression. She had to have her leg amputated.
- 1:01:28Speaker 1: I's wrong with you. It was just all cool. We
- 1:01:32Speaker 1: were all blown away. I want I like your wife
- 1:01:35Speaker 1: and to be in the major league. She's done something
- 1:01:36Speaker 1: higher in any level than when any of us ever happened.
- 1:01:38Speaker 1: And then right, it's like, yeah, let me take that,
- 1:01:41Speaker 1: let me take her back down, man. And you know what,
- 1:01:45Speaker 1: they blamed her for.
- 1:01:45Speaker 5: That, and I don't blame them.
- 1:01:48Speaker 1: And I saw it.
- 1:01:49Speaker 3: You know what?
- 1:01:50Speaker 1: Good point? Oh my god.
- 1:01:53Speaker 5: Kevin was uh have you seen the movie Beating the Beast?
- 1:01:56Speaker 4: I mean when I was a kid, was it kind
- 1:01:58Speaker 4: of the same dude? To be honest, I don't remember
- 1:02:01Speaker 4: the storyline at all. I don't know if you guys
- 1:02:03Speaker 4: do well you Yeah, yeah, I don't remember at all.
- 1:02:05Speaker 1: So creepy Beast hold your hostage.
- 1:02:07Speaker 4: Yes, yes, but there's her bells like Dad's involved, and
- 1:02:11Speaker 4: there's a mask Maston, Maston.
- 1:02:14Speaker 5: Masta don.
- 1:02:17Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 1:02:17Speaker 4: He was really good in the play, but I don't
- 1:02:19Speaker 4: remember him in the original at all. But he was
- 1:02:20Speaker 4: really really good. I mean, the acting in the singing
- 1:02:23Speaker 4: was phenomenal, but.
- 1:02:24Speaker 5: You guys know, the beast isn't a real like a
- 1:02:26Speaker 5: beast right as a dude.
- 1:02:28Speaker 1: In the end? Yeah spoiler right, hey, no, that was
- 1:02:32Speaker 1: the best part.
- 1:02:32Speaker 4: So the spoiler alert here At the end, they like,
- 1:02:35Speaker 4: you know, they lift him up in the air and
- 1:02:37Speaker 4: they like flash all his lights so you can't see
- 1:02:38Speaker 4: anything as they're transforming him. And then the people sitting
- 1:02:42Speaker 4: next to us and the guy was like on the
- 1:02:43Speaker 4: edge of the seat. I mean, I'm talking like a
- 1:02:45Speaker 4: thirty year old guy sitting there. And then they flashed
- 1:02:48Speaker 4: and he's like a human again, and the guy's like,
- 1:02:50Speaker 4: oh my god. They were just like, did you not
- 1:02:54Speaker 4: know that what's coming?
- 1:02:55Speaker 7: You know what I mean?
- 1:02:56Speaker 5: Maybe he didn't know the end.
- 1:02:57Speaker 1: That's funny. I always like people like that that are
- 1:02:59Speaker 1: so moved by it, and they're not doing it on purpose,
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: they're just so moved. That's fine. The last time that
- 1:03:04Speaker 1: I did that was six cents. But let me tell
- 1:03:09Speaker 1: you this, I remember being in a theater being like
- 1:03:11Speaker 1: what as soon as I found out.
- 1:03:15Speaker 5: Outwardly, yeah, it's a big deal.
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: What one more time? What?
- 1:03:24Speaker 3: What?
- 1:03:25Speaker 1: A reaction, crazy crazy, but yeah you should see it, you.
- 1:03:28Speaker 7: Guys, Now I see it.
- 1:03:36Speaker 1: I thought the field was cool in Madrid. How they
- 1:03:39Speaker 1: keep it its own greenhouse underneath the ground. Oh yeah,
- 1:03:41Speaker 1: that was really cool.
- 1:03:42Speaker 5: They take soccer pretty serious over there. Yeah, very serious.
- 1:03:45Speaker 1: It's really neat. What's your theory on oh on the jersey?
- 1:03:49Speaker 5: Yeah, man, I just feel like when I watch these
- 1:03:51Speaker 5: European soccer, these European football games, like the fans are
- 1:03:58Speaker 5: oddly all wearing different, random jerseys, but it's almost like
- 1:04:02Speaker 5: they don't even know what's going on. Like they see
- 1:04:04Speaker 5: a fumble and they're like, oh, what does that mean?
- 1:04:06Speaker 5: What does that mean? So I feel this is my theory.
- 1:04:08Speaker 5: I feel like the NFL is like, we're gonna have
- 1:04:10Speaker 5: a game in Madrid. We're gonna get a bunch of jerseys,
- 1:04:13Speaker 5: all different kinds of jerseys from every different team, every
- 1:04:15Speaker 5: different player, and then we're gonna give tickets away, and
- 1:04:17Speaker 5: whoever shows up, we're gonna give them free jerseys.
- 1:04:20Speaker 1: I don't think that that's a bad theory. I think
- 1:04:22Speaker 1: they probably do that some man. I think they were
- 1:04:24Speaker 1: worried about Madrid more than any other game, because they
- 1:04:27Speaker 1: that is not a typical even European football hold like London, Germany,
- 1:04:35Speaker 1: but Madrid and I don't think the crowd was exactly
- 1:04:39Speaker 1: what they had hoped, but I think they knew that
- 1:04:40Speaker 1: was risky going into it. I just don't like them more.
- 1:04:42Speaker 1: I wish they would play them just a little later. Yeah,
- 1:04:45Speaker 1: put them on at the same time the other games
- 1:04:47Speaker 1: are on.
- 1:04:47Speaker 5: What time would it be over there?
- 1:04:48Speaker 7: Though?
- 1:04:48Speaker 1: Who gives a crap. It's America.
- 1:04:50Speaker 4: We care what everything our time.
- 1:04:53Speaker 1: Yeah, exactly, like waking.
- 1:04:54Speaker 5: Up for Earli and seeing football.
- 1:04:55Speaker 1: I'm up early anyway, and it's like, oh sweet, football
- 1:04:58Speaker 1: is on. I just don't like that much football. I'm
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: going to say it. I don't like going from that
- 1:05:03Speaker 1: early until nine o'clock at night.
- 1:05:06Speaker 5: I'll tell you who doesn't like it. My wife.
- 1:05:08Speaker 1: My stamina is not there well, especially after a full
- 1:05:10Speaker 1: day on Saturday.
- 1:05:11Speaker 5: Correct, great, poul a lot of football because like I'm
- 1:05:14Speaker 5: watching football till one am. I watched that like West
- 1:05:16Speaker 5: Coast game. You can catch up on your debts because
- 1:05:18Speaker 5: I'm catching up on gambling debts. And then my wife
- 1:05:20Speaker 5: wakes up and I'm watching football again. She's like, this
- 1:05:22Speaker 5: is too much.
- 1:05:23Speaker 1: That's like three plays for you in a day. It's
- 1:05:26Speaker 1: just too much, you know, at the opera and then
- 1:05:34Speaker 1: you went to them is a roup? Oh not be good?
- 1:05:38Speaker 5: Lim is a up cats.
- 1:05:43Speaker 1: Okay, we're done.
