- 1:05Dayna Roselli: Welcome to episode 257.
- 1:07Dayna Roselli: It's Dana Roselli and Sean McAllister here.
- 1:10Dayna Roselli: We are sitting in February.
- 1:12Dayna Roselli: Finally, January felt like the longest month ever.
- 1:15Dayna Roselli: Ever.
- 1:15Dayna Roselli: Felt like a year.
- 1:17Sean McAllister: With like all awful stuff happening.
- 1:20Dayna Roselli: Lots of tragedy, you know, just too many tragedies in the United States.
- 1:24Dayna Roselli: It's been awful.
- 1:24Dayna Roselli: So we're happy to move into February and maybe have some.
- 1:29Sean McAllister: Hopefully the rest of 2025 is nice.
- 1:32Dayna Roselli: Yeah, let's hope so.
- 1:33Sean McAllister: That would be great.
- 1:34Sean McAllister: Something that um we're excited to kind of recap and talk about because we haven't been able to sit down and chat, Dana, is the Grammys.
- 1:43Sean McAllister: This is, you know, we're less than a week from the Grammys happening, and it was a fun show.
- 1:50Dayna Roselli: It was.
- 1:50Dayna Roselli: And you know, I know like these award shows, people watch them less and less because, you know, sometimes they can be controversial.
- 1:56Dayna Roselli: I felt like this one, especially because it was raising money for the LA fire victims and stuff, was really good because it really focused on the entertainment.
- 2:04Dayna Roselli: Yeah, there were like a couple little political messages that got, you know, unveiled and accepted to get sprinkled in.
- 2:12Dayna Roselli: But other than that, it was it was pretty good.
- 2:14Dayna Roselli: And I thought the entertainment was fantastic.
- 2:17Dayna Roselli: I was actually home watching it with my mom, and I was like, you gotta see this.
- 2:21Dayna Roselli: And one thing I called her in for was when Benson Boone backflipped off the piano.
- 2:25Sean McAllister: He was great.
- 2:26Sean McAllister: So I have I had never seen a live Benson Boone or even a taped Benson Boone performance before.
- 2:33Sean McAllister: That was kind of the first introduction I've had to him performing live.
- 2:37Sean McAllister: I love his music, but I was like, oh my gosh, he is great.
- 2:41Sean McAllister: I would go to one of his concerts in a heartbeat.
- 2:44Dayna Roselli: Well, and then Cirque de Soleil put up a little montage of all his different uh like backflips, like, hey, we see you, Benson Boone.
- 2:51Dayna Roselli: And I just thought, you know, you and I were just chatting, and I was like, I mean, he would be a great Vegas headliner.
- 2:56Sean McAllister: He would.
- 2:57Dayna Roselli: Because we need a show, we like a show, and you know, he's good.
- 3:01Dayna Roselli: I think he could put on a really good residency.
- 3:04Sean McAllister: He's great and he's got the sequin jumpsuit.
- 3:07Sean McAllister: He's ready to go.
- 3:08Dayna Roselli: Yeah, he had to apologize the next day for adjusting his junk.
- 3:13Sean McAllister: Well, listen, if you're dancing around doing flips, like adjustment might be necessary at the end of the performance.
- 3:21Sean McAllister: Right.
- 3:22Dayna Roselli: Yeah, I love that he was in the one outfit and then they, you know, ripped it off and he had the jump sewed on.
- 3:27Dayna Roselli: Yeah, he was great.
- 3:28Dayna Roselli: So really enjoyed Benson Boone.
- 3:29Dayna Roselli: I thought Sabrina Carpenter was great.
- 3:31Dayna Roselli: There were so many wonderful performances.
- 3:33Dayna Roselli: Um, obviously, Beyonce won uh two big Grammys that night, and that was a big conversation the next day.
- 3:39Dayna Roselli: Did she deserve it?
- 3:40Dayna Roselli: Did she not?
- 3:41Dayna Roselli: We'll leave that to the experts.
- 3:42Dayna Roselli: But we what we did want to focus on is that Beyonce has Las Vegas on her tour announcement poster.
- 3:50Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 3:51Dayna Roselli: But the dates have been announced, and Las Vegas isn't in there, so it's like everyone's wondering what does this mean?
- 3:59Sean McAllister: Yeah, there's a lot of speculation.
- 4:01Sean McAllister: Um, they're wondering, is she going to do an extended run of shows at Allegiance Stadium?
- 4:09Sean McAllister: Or could the Las Vegas be a teaser for a residency announcement?
- 4:14Sean McAllister: Uh could she possibly be playing at Sphere?
- 4:18Dayna Roselli: All things that have been talked about in the past.
- 4:21Dayna Roselli: So it just seems odd.
- 4:23Dayna Roselli: Las Vegas is on the poster, and then when you go to look at the dates, they're all listed, all cities.
- 4:30Dayna Roselli: She's not playing a ton of cities either.
- 4:32Dayna Roselli: Um, but and she's doing two overseas, London and and uh Paris or France, somewhere in France.
- 4:39Dayna Roselli: Yeah, Paris maybe.
- 4:40Dayna Roselli: And um, and then um and then a bunch of cities in America, but Las Vegas's dates are not there.
- 4:48Dayna Roselli: So I don't know what that means.
- 4:49Dayna Roselli: Yeah, or unless there's like some sort of conflict and they're trying to figure it out, but they're not commenting on it either.
- 4:54Sean McAllister: So no, they're not.
- 4:55Sean McAllister: So it'll be interesting to see what happens with Beyonce and Las Vegas in 2025.
- 5:01Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 5:02Dayna Roselli: Then Bruno Mars and Lady Gaga won for their duet at the Grammys, and both of them have shows here in Las Vegas or have had shows.
- 5:09Dayna Roselli: Bruno just announced new dates.
- 5:11Dayna Roselli: I think we expect Gaga to come back, right?
- 5:13Sean McAllister: I would expect so, yeah.
- 5:14Sean McAllister: Both over at uh Dolby Live inside Park MGM.
- 5:18Sean McAllister: Um, both of their shows are fantastic.
- 5:21Sean McAllister: Right.
- 5:22Sean McAllister: I would love Lady Gaga to come back with her jazz and piano show.
- 5:26Sean McAllister: That's just like iconic.
- 5:29Dayna Roselli: Yeah, and her it sounds like her latest album that she's releasing is going kind of back to her original Gaga roots because they played that one video, it was Abracadabra that's out now, the single, I guess.
- 5:39Dayna Roselli: Um, and I think it was a commercial for MasterCard or Visa or one of those.
- 5:43Dayna Roselli: Anyway, and I it was like it was very old gaga.
- 5:47Sean McAllister: It was the dance moves, all of it.
- 5:49Dayna Roselli: The creepiness, but the kind of the costumes, yeah.
- 5:51Dayna Roselli: So I don't know.
- 5:52Dayna Roselli: We'll have to see what this latest album looks like, and then maybe she's gonna be out promoting that.
- 5:56Dayna Roselli: Maybe she'll go on tour, who knows?
- 5:58Dayna Roselli: But you know, I think she always has a home here with that jazz and piano show for sure.
- 6:02Sean McAllister: Yeah, she does.
- 6:02Sean McAllister: And uh, we did see a slew of other artists up on stage at the Grammys who have upcoming shows here in Las Vegas.
- 6:12Sean McAllister: Um, we're actually in the process of compiling uh a list of all of those performances, and we're gonna uh have that for you next week uh here on Vegas Revealed, and there's still gonna be plenty of time to get tickets uh for all of those shows.
- 6:26Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 6:27Dayna Roselli: Hey, something we wanted to talk about is a refresh that is happening over at MGM Grand Hotel and Casino.
- 6:35Dayna Roselli: Uh MGM Resorts announced a$300 million remodel of the rooms and suites.
- 6:42Dayna Roselli: Wow.
- 6:43Dayna Roselli: Yeah, I think it's a big deal, right?
- 6:44Dayna Roselli: They say work's already underway.
- 6:46Dayna Roselli: And I was surprised because it says the project is expected to be complete by December of 2025.
- 6:51Dayna Roselli: So it should be done this year.
- 6:52Sean McAllister: They're making quick work of that.
- 6:54Sean McAllister: There's a lot of rooms over there.
- 6:55Sean McAllister: Geez.
- 6:56Dayna Roselli: Yeah, all of the hotel's 4,200 rooms and suites within its main tower are getting an upgrade.
- 7:03Dayna Roselli: The remodeled spaces will have design elements inspired by the disco era and are scheduled to be available for reservation beginning this March.
- 7:13Dayna Roselli: So they're probably doing them in waves.
- 7:15Dayna Roselli: So this is a big deal for a lot of our friends that come to visit us over and over or are looking for a place to stay and wondered if MGM Grand had, you know, done any renovations lately.
- 7:25Dayna Roselli: Um, and apparently when this is uh all complete, it's also at the same time when several new dining and entertainment experiences are expected to open at the resort as well.
- 7:36Dayna Roselli: So, you know, throughout the year.
- 7:38Dayna Roselli: So they're really doing a lot over there.
- 7:40Dayna Roselli: They got what the friends experience coming in.
- 7:43Sean McAllister: Yeah, that's coming in uh well, it was supposed to be like fall of 2024, but then I think it got pushed.
- 7:50Sean McAllister: So uh it's supposed to be sometime in 2025, hopefully sooner than later, because that's something I'm personally looking forward to.
- 7:58Dayna Roselli: Yeah, that'll be great.
- 7:59Dayna Roselli: And then Ka, the Cirque du Soleil show over there, just celebrated uh 20 years, and so I don't think that's going anywhere.
- 8:06Dayna Roselli: And they're always announcing new stuff.
- 8:08Dayna Roselli: Uh and I can't think off the top of my head.
- 8:10Dayna Roselli: But um, it was interesting.
- 8:11Dayna Roselli: Let's listen to the president and COO of MGM Grand talk about this because something that he says, um, I was like, oh yeah, this makes sense.
- 8:21Dayna Roselli: We'll discuss it after.
- 8:23SPEAKER_04: To me, it's more than just a rumor model.
- 8:25SPEAKER_04: Um, when you walk into the new floor, you're like, did we just transform to a new hotel, a different hotel?
- 8:31SPEAKER_04: It's that transformational from that standpoint.
- 8:34SPEAKER_04: But I think this room product sets us up for success long term.
- 8:37SPEAKER_04: And we're gonna have a new neighbor here before too long with the A's coming to town, too.
- 8:41SPEAKER_04: So we think our room product will appeal to that customer base too.
- 8:44SPEAKER_04: So super excited.
- 8:45SPEAKER_04: And um before we know it, we'll be to the end of this project.
- 8:48Sean McAllister: So again, that was Mike Newbecker, the president and COO of MGM Grand Hotel and Casino in Dana.
- 8:56Sean McAllister: He talked about baseball.
- 8:57Dayna Roselli: He did.
- 8:58Dayna Roselli: And it makes sense, right?
- 8:59Dayna Roselli: He's gonna, you know, up his game over there in the corner because it's gonna be next to a brand new baseball stadium.
- 9:06Dayna Roselli: And then after that, another resort is supposed to come, right, attached to the baseball stadium.
- 9:10Sean McAllister: Eventually, yeah, down the line.
- 9:12Dayna Roselli: So, anyway, beefing up that corner, and MGM Grand is getting ready.
- 9:16Dayna Roselli: So exciting for uh some changes.
- 9:18Dayna Roselli: I think that area kind of needs a little refresh.
- 9:21Sean McAllister: It does.
- 9:21Sean McAllister: It's time, and I'm glad that uh MGM Grand is leading the charge at the south end of the strip over there.
- 9:28Dayna Roselli: Well, rugby's coming back, and that's exciting because we know people come in from all over the world to watch these matches.
- 9:35Sean McAllister: Oh, uh like literally all over the world, 30 different countries, they're expecting fans to be arriving here in Las Vegas for National League rugby, which is taking place February 26th through March 1st, with uh the premiere matchups happening over at Allegiant Stadium.
- 9:57Dayna Roselli: And they're staying over at Resorts World again, right?
- 9:59Sean McAllister: Yeah, they are.
- 10:00Sean McAllister: So if you're in town, you will absolutely see a whole bunch of rugby players from around the world if you pop over to uh Resorts World.
- 10:10Sean McAllister: That's also where their fan hub activities are taking place as well.
- 10:14Sean McAllister: Uh, we got Andrew Abdo on the line.
- 10:17Sean McAllister: He is the CEO of National League Rugby, and he gave us all the details about everything going on during rugby week.
- 10:27Sean McAllister: What football is to Americans, rugby is to Australians.
- 10:31Sean McAllister: And with the NFL season now behind us, National League Rugby is here to fill the on-field void.
- 10:38Sean McAllister: What is your best pitch right now to get American football fans to be interested and give rugby a chance if they haven't already?
- 10:48SPEAKER_00: Well, the pitch is pretty simple.
- 10:49SPEAKER_00: Um uh what what every aspect that you love of NFL exists in rugby league, except to say that this for 80 minutes, it's pretty continuous.
- 10:58SPEAKER_00: The ball is in play for around about 60% of that time.
- 11:02SPEAKER_00: There's no quarters, just one half time.
- 11:04SPEAKER_00: It's non-stop and it's action-packed.
- 11:07SPEAKER_00: The NFL season is coming to a close with Super Bowl, but our season is just starting, so our fans are incredibly excited for a whole season of football that's ahead of them in terms of NRL and regby league action.
- 11:17Sean McAllister: National League fans are descending on Las Vegas from across the country and around the world.
- 11:23Sean McAllister: The 50,000 expected from February 26th through March 1st come from all 50 states, 30 countries, and nearly 20,000 alone from Australia.
- 11:34Sean McAllister: And there'll be plenty to occupy their time.
- 11:37SPEAKER_00: So at Resorts World, where all the teams will be staying, it'll be an opportunity for fans to come and meet the teams uh throughout the day.
- 11:44SPEAKER_00: It'll be running from Wednesday through to Saturday.
- 11:47SPEAKER_00: There'll also be prizes and giveaways, fun competitions for fans to take part in.
- 11:51SPEAKER_00: They can buy merchandise, they can buy tickets for the game, and uh there'll be plenty of activations where we'll be doing some simulations around what it's like to become a rugby league player.
- 12:00SPEAKER_00: So a great opportunity for fans to uh get to experience rugby league.
- 12:04Sean McAllister: Well, and if you're over there on property at Resorts World when uh all the players are there, you know you are in the presence of a rugby player because these are not small guys.
- 12:15SPEAKER_00: No, they're not.
- 12:16SPEAKER_00: Uh they tend to stand out.
- 12:17SPEAKER_00: And uh I think um you'll also notice with our our female athletes uh or some of the best athletes in the world, um, we're talking about a game here that's pretty fast and physical.
- 12:27SPEAKER_00: So you'll you'll you'll recognize and you'll notice the athletes um uh absolutely.
- 12:32SPEAKER_00: And you know, the beauty about not playing with a helmet is that you can see who the athletes are and you can get really uh close and personal.
- 12:40Sean McAllister: What makes Las Vegas a great spot to kick off the season for you?
- 12:46SPEAKER_00: Well, a couple of reasons.
- 12:47SPEAKER_00: Uh first and foremost, it's on the back of list for our fans.
- 12:51SPEAKER_00: I mean, everybody loves uh going to Vegas uh and experiencing all that there is.
- 12:56SPEAKER_00: Um, there's just so much on offer for people traveling to Las Vegas to enjoy.
- 13:01SPEAKER_00: And uh the second thing is obviously the time zone uh is important for us.
- 13:05SPEAKER_00: So being on the West Coast, it means that we play in um you know prime time Sunday afternoon back here in Australia uh on a Saturday afternoon or Saturday and Saturday evening in Las Vegas.
- 13:17SPEAKER_00: So that helps.
- 13:17SPEAKER_00: And third, and uh and probably the most important reason is Las Vegas is becoming the sports capital of uh you know of the globe.
- 13:25Sean McAllister: Do you see this uh partnership with Las Vegas being something long term?
- 13:30SPEAKER_00: Yeah, absolutely.
- 13:31SPEAKER_00: You know, we we've committed to this for five years and we want to keep growing it, and uh we want this to be a sell-out event.
- 13:37SPEAKER_00: Uh, I can't miss on the calendar.
- 13:39SPEAKER_00: And uh we want Regby League and the growth of Regby League in America to be absolutely long term.
- 13:44SPEAKER_00: So we're committed to this.
- 13:46SPEAKER_00: Uh we've got a great partnership with the Las Vegas Tourism Um Convention Authority.
- 13:51SPEAKER_00: We've got a great partnership with the Stadium and the Las Vegas Raiders and the UFC.
- 13:55SPEAKER_00: And uh, you know, Las Vegas for us is going to be our home base for our season opening for the foreseeable future, and that's pretty exciting for our sport.
- 14:04Sean McAllister: Again, all of that rugby action taking place February 26th through March 1st.
- 14:11Dayna Roselli: Awesome.
- 14:11Dayna Roselli: Look forward to having everyone in town.
- 14:13Dayna Roselli: God, we just keep pumping out events, sporting events, shows.
- 14:17Dayna Roselli: Las Vegas is the place to be.
- 14:19Dayna Roselli: We're gonna take a quick break.
- 14:21Dayna Roselli: We'll be right back.
- 14:22SPEAKER_02: If you've experienced a slip and fall, were injured in a place of business or on a construction site, call level up law.
- 14:29SPEAKER_02: Do you have a wrongful death case or been in a motor vehicle accident, even harmed in a ride share?
- 14:34SPEAKER_02: Our team specializes in personal injury cases.
- 14:37SPEAKER_02: Call Level Up Law now at 855 Level Up.
- 14:40SPEAKER_02: Elevate your case with Level Up Law.
- 14:43SPEAKER_02: We've got your back.
- 14:44SPEAKER_02: Call 855 Level Up.
- 14:46SPEAKER_02: Your journey to justice starts here.
- 14:48SPEAKER_02: Level Up Law.
- 14:49SPEAKER_02: Justice at your fingertips.
- 14:52Sean McAllister: All right, let's get to tips now.
- 14:57Sean McAllister: Dana, this first tip uh is a pairing of golf and Marvel movies.
- 15:04Sean McAllister: Not a pairing that would immediately come to mind, right?
- 15:07Dayna Roselli: No, I wondered what this was all about at Top Golf.
- 15:09Dayna Roselli: I was out of town and couldn't go to the event, and I they kept like teasing it.
- 15:12Dayna Roselli: Like we have this partnership, and I'm like, what is this all about?
- 15:15Dayna Roselli: But obviously, Captain America is a big deal, huh?
- 15:17Sean McAllister: Oh, Captain America, Brave New World.
- 15:20Sean McAllister: This is the uh new Captain America Marvel movie that is coming out uh February 13th in theaters nationwide.
- 15:28Sean McAllister: Uh, to celebrate that, Top Golf has partnered with Marvel to create a new gameplay experience.
- 15:35Sean McAllister: So basically, what happens, you get up there, you know, obviously uh Top Golf, they have a whole bunch of hitting bays where you you know drive the golf ball out onto the you try and hit targets out there.
- 15:49Dayna Roselli: That's fun.
- 15:50Sean McAllister: So this Captain America game on the screen that's in front of you that shows where your ball goes, Captain America comes and flies over the the field and drops these shields on the on the grass.
- 16:07Sean McAllister: Uh so you can't see them with your own eyes when you look out there, but when you look at your screen, you can see kind of where they're situated.
- 16:17Sean McAllister: So you hit your ball out there and you try and hit these virtual shields that are out there on the course.
- 16:24Sean McAllister: You get lots and lots of points if you hit them.
- 16:26Sean McAllister: Um I had a fun time playing.
- 16:28Dayna Roselli: Yeah, it sounds fun.
- 16:29Dayna Roselli: I was wondering how the two would come together, but it sounds cool, like a nice collab.
- 16:33Dayna Roselli: Now let's get to the food part.
- 16:34Dayna Roselli: I mean, I don't mean to move, but you were telling me this story, and I was like, you have to share this.
- 16:38Dayna Roselli: You have a tip about the food.
- 16:40Dayna Roselli: There's so there's special menu items.
- 16:42Sean McAllister: Yeah, so they added special menu items inspired by the movie.
- 16:45Sean McAllister: One of them is this uh Monterey Jack and Bacon cheeseburger that that comes on this long plate.
- 16:52Sean McAllister: The burger's in the middle, you have fries on one side, you have these chips on the other side, but uh they're like tortilla chips, but they're not whole chips.
- 17:00Sean McAllister: I mean, it looks like they came from the bottom of the bag or something, or someone like just crushed them up and dumped them on the plate.
- 17:07Sean McAllister: And so I asked the server, what's up with the bottom of the bag chips here?
- 17:11Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 17:11Sean McAllister: And he was like, Oh, what you're supposed to do with that is dip your burger in this cup of melted Monterey Jack cheese.
- 17:19Dayna Roselli: Sounds delicious.
- 17:20Sean McAllister: Dip it in the molten cheese and then roll it around in the crushed chip bits.
- 17:25Dayna Roselli: Okay.
- 17:26Sean McAllister: So that when you take a bite, you get the crispy chips along with everything else that's going on in the burger.
- 17:32Dayna Roselli: I'm obsessed because I love crunch.
- 17:33Dayna Roselli: This like that sounds so good.
- 17:36Sean McAllister: And the cheese, you know, it's Monterey Jack, so it's got like the pepper jack, actually.
- 17:40Sean McAllister: So it's got the spite, a little bit of kick to it.
- 17:43Sean McAllister: It was a really good burger.
- 17:44Dayna Roselli: But you were saying, you know, people need to know this, or they need to put like a little instruction, like a like like a toothpick with a little sheet of paper attached to it that sh, you know, says dip it in the cheese and then dip it in the chips.
- 17:57Sean McAllister: You need instructions that come with it.
- 17:59Dayna Roselli: Oh my gosh, I love it.
- 18:00Dayna Roselli: Sounds delicious.
- 18:01Dayna Roselli: So it was fun over there.
- 18:02Dayna Roselli: And this goes in uh until what, mid-April?
- 18:04Sean McAllister: Uh mid-April, April 13th.
- 18:06Dayna Roselli: Okay.
- 18:06Sean McAllister: Uh, you can play that Captain America game at Top Golf.
- 18:09Dayna Roselli: Cool.
- 18:10Dayna Roselli: I love that.
- 18:10Dayna Roselli: Hey, if you love Motocross, the SMX World Championship is coming to Las Vegas at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway again.
- 18:19Dayna Roselli: It's Saturday, September 20th, and tickets are on sale.
- 18:22Dayna Roselli: And we gotta look at the track because they sent over a rendering.
- 18:25Dayna Roselli: It looks so cool.
- 18:26Sean McAllister: It really does.
- 18:26Sean McAllister: So uh there's a circuit that these racers go on at different speedways and tracks around the country.
- 18:32Sean McAllister: They're ending up here in Las Vegas for the championship.
- 18:35Sean McAllister: Each of the tracks is different, and Las Vegas, as you would expect, kind of I feel like they we kind of outdid everybody else with the track that's built up there at the motor speedway.
- 18:47Dayna Roselli: And I love that they're using the motor speedway more and more.
- 18:51Dayna Roselli: I mean, obviously we have NASCAR there, that's what it's known for, and and obviously we have the drag strip and all sorts, but I love that they're using the speedway for this and so many other events throughout the year, obviously EDC, but it's just such a great spot.
- 19:05Sean McAllister: Yeah, and they've been the kind of leaders in um coming up with new ways to use that uh speedway facility and all of the land that's around it, too.
- 19:18Sean McAllister: They have a bunch of different types of motorsport tracks up there.
- 19:23Dayna Roselli: I mean, they got the parking space and all of it.
