- 0:23Speaker 2: They're in the top of the third in that American
- 0:26League Division Series Game two in Cleveland where the Guardians,
- 0:30who won Game one over the Tigers seven and nothing,
- 0:34are scoreless. Cleveland and Detroit. Are you you ever still
- 0:38occasionally anyway have difficulty remember Guardians?
- 0:42Speaker 1: Yes, I mean last segment, I was probably about this
- 0:45close to call them the Indians. Gene Watson called them
- 0:47the Indians last week.
- 0:48Speaker 2: Yeah. Oh, here, we'll see if he does it again,
- 0:51he'll join us for fifty.
- 0:53Speaker 1: I almost want to call him spiders because I wanted
- 0:55them to be named the Cleveland.
- 0:56Speaker 2: Spiders should have been Spiders, and and it really would
- 1:01have been a thing of symmetry, since they had the
- 1:06worst record in baseball and fewest wins percentage wise, and
- 1:10all of that until the White Sox this year. Now,
- 1:14the White Sox got more wins, ended up with more wins.
- 1:17They ended up forty one and one twenty one, so
- 1:22they ended up with more losses than the sixty two
- 1:26Mets or losses, but more wins because they played two
- 1:30more games because the Mets had two reinouts. And that
- 1:33was the expansion here for the Mets and the Socks went.
- 1:37In eighteen ninety nine, the Cleveland Spiders, in a one
- 1:40hundred and fifty four game schedule, won twenty games. They
- 1:44were twenty and one thirty four. Now, there are those
- 1:49who say that that's not really modern era baseball that
- 1:52started after nineteen hundred. Maybe it is. Maybe I don't know,
- 1:56but it's It was the worst winning percentage for a
- 2:00full season in that won one hundred and fifty four
- 2:02games and in a one hundred and sixty two game schedule,
- 2:04the White Sox lost the most games, won the second
- 2:08fewest games. The Mets at the fewest wins. They had
- 2:10forty went forty and one to twenty. But it would
- 2:14have been cool, but they're the Guardians and it is
- 2:18scoreless in the top of the second in that one.
- 2:20All right, what were some of the LSE wanted to
- 2:23get to here with regard to college football? Now, I
- 2:25mentioned the rankings, how Texas was number one again.
- 2:32Speaker 1: In the.
- 2:34Speaker 2: In the Power in the polls, but they are not
- 2:37number one in the Power rankings. ESPN's latest college football
- 2:41Power rankings came out and Ohio State is number one.
- 2:45Texas isn't even number two. That's Oregon. So and if
- 2:51you say, well, it's because a game day is going
- 2:53to be out there and they wanted that for their matchup.
- 2:55Remember that game is not an ABC slash ESPN Family telecast.
- 3:06I don't know it's either CBS or NBC because both
- 3:08have big ten. I hadn't checked, but it's not. Is
- 3:12it a prime time NBC game or is it an
- 3:15afternoon CBS game or a prime time CBS game? Scrolling
- 3:21scrolling NBC NBC? Okay, Jason Garrett and Jack I'm just kidding.
- 3:28Is Jack collins Worth calling it? I don't think so. No,
- 3:30it's it's Paul Burmeister. I think who does it? So anyway,
- 3:36Oregon is number two Ohios. These are the power rankings
- 3:41according to ESPN their college Football Power Rankings. Texas is
- 3:46number three and their comment was the long worns on
- 3:50a BI sat back and watched college football burn this weekend.
- 3:54As an Alabama team that bypassed them from the top
- 3:56ranking last week lost to Vanderbilt. You can be sure
- 3:58that Steve Sarkeashan will use that as a reminder this week,
- 4:01not the Texas needs any motivation. Yeah, right there, that's
- 4:04an important thing to remember. It's headed to Dallas to
- 4:07face Oklahoma for the first SEC version of one of
- 4:09the best rivalry games in college football and arguably the
- 4:12best setting in the middle of the state Fair of Texas.
- 4:15The long run should have Quinn Yewers back after a
- 4:17week of rest. That was pretty much what sar Kid
- 4:21said if they were doing it now. Penn State is
- 4:23number four in the power rankings, Georgia five, Miami six,
- 4:26Alabama seven, Clemson eight, Tennessee nine, and Iowa State ten.
- 4:30Those are the power rankings according to ESPN. Now the
- 4:36other thing, and only because quite often I'm just whatever
- 4:41a glutton for minutia and do this from time to time.
- 4:46The Athletic which I think has some of the best
- 4:48writers covering college and pro sports in the business, and
- 4:55has let me use a radio term, the ban with
- 5:01to be able to do the deep dive on lots
- 5:05of different things. One of the things they do every
- 5:08week I love this is they rank all one hundred
- 5:12and thirty four college football teams. They do this every
- 5:15week there used to be a feature, and then it
- 5:18went away for a long time. Then it got resurrected.
- 5:20I haven't seen it lately, and I have to look
- 5:22at it. Used to be a syndicated column. I used
- 5:24to read it in the newspapers in the days when
- 5:26you actually would hold the newspaper in your hand and
- 5:28read it called the Bottom ten, and it would be
- 5:33kind of an irreverent look at the worst teams in
- 5:36Division one college football. But if it always kind of
- 5:39had like a punchline or this or that, this kind
- 5:41of falls along those same lines, especially as you get
- 5:45deep down further into the one thirty four. But they
- 5:49rank it's a weekly ranking of all FBS college football teams,
- 5:57and they they point out that four top ten teams lost.
- 6:02Remember there were five in the top eleven. So it
- 6:07goes on and on and then and then they get
- 6:09into it. So here's their top ten. They do have
- 6:11Texas number one, Ohio State two, Alabama third. They only
- 6:17dropped them two spots after the loss to Vanderbilt. Georgia four,
- 6:20Oregon five, Penn State six, Miami seven, BYU eight, Tennessee nine,
- 6:26and Clemson ten. They say Texas slides up to the
- 6:28number one after Alabama's lost. But the long Orne won't
- 6:30have it easy with Oklahoma and Georgia over the next
- 6:33two weeks. And then they go on with some other things. Okay,
- 6:36and they said, we've got Ohio State Oregon this week,
- 6:40so get ready for another shake up at the top
- 6:42second ten eleven through or actually the second fifteen eleven
- 6:48through twenty five. Iowa State is eleven, Kansas State twelve.
- 6:52Then it's Notre Dame, Indiana, Texas A and m fifteen Ole,
- 6:56miss SMU, Boise State, Missouri, LSU to finish the top twenty.
- 7:00Then it's Utah, Oklahoma twenty two, Navy, Illinois, and Michigan. Okay,
- 7:08so that's the deal there twenty six to fifty, Nebraska
- 7:13twenty six, followed by pitt Washington State, Texas Tech at
- 7:17twenty nine or four and five and one and on
- 7:20a bye. This week Arizona State, Vanderbilt, Iowa USC Arkansas
- 7:27US fell from eleventh to thirty third following its lost
- 7:30in Minnesota. Arkansas went from forty six to thirty fourth
- 7:34after its win over Tennessee. Syracuse's thirty fifth, followed by UNLV,
- 7:39which lost its first game and dropped thirteen spots from
- 7:42twenty three to thirty six. Louisville, which after losing the SMU,
- 7:46dropped ten spots from twenty seven to thirty seven. Arizona, Rutgers,

- 8:05one to seventy five. Duke, which had unbeat had been

- 8:13to fifty one. Then Oklahoma State dropped fifteen spots from
- 8:17thirty seven to fifty two. Florida, Liberty, Virginia Tech, Northern Illinois, Army,
- 8:22U EL Monroe. In case you didn't notice, the team
- 8:25whose only loss is to Texas this year is now
- 8:27four to one. They went from one oh one to
- 8:30fifty eight because they beat James Madison, who they put
- 8:33barely just behind them at fifty nine. UCF Western Kentucky, Toledo,
- 8:38Presno State, Oregon State, Wisconsin, North Carolina now sixty six, Minnesota,
- 8:42Sam Houston, Michigan State, Maryland, Texas State fell two spots
- 8:49to number seventy one despite a win Auburn, Cincinnati, San

- 9:12spots from eighty three to eighty six. Yukon Kansas, Kansas

- 9:19They dropped there now eighty eighth at one in five.
- 9:22Baylor is eighty nine. South Florida, Buffalo, Nevada, Arkansas State,
- 9:26South Alabama, Ucla, Marshall Charlotte, Mississippi State, Appalachian State, and
- 9:31East Carolina complete the top one hundred and for one
- 9:33oh one one thirty four. UTSA is one oh one.
- 9:37Then it's Eastern Michigan, Purdue, Ohio, Miami, Old Dominion, Bowling Green,

- 10:12you should know, all right. We'll be back to wrap
- 10:15up Power number two on sports Radio AM thirteen hundred,
- 10:17The Zone,
