- 0:00I'm Abby and I'm Anna, and this is serious beef.
- 0:02Welcome. Welcome back, listener.
- 0:06Welcome back. Let's get into it.
- 0:07Let's go. We got some beef.
- 0:08Let's go see some serious beef. Let's see if this episode goes
- 0:12up on time. Because we we are slackers.
- 0:15Well, technically last time I wasn't slacking at all.
- 0:19I wasn't behind but I accidentally posted it an entire
- 0:22day. You jumped a gun is what you
- 0:24did, and then I completely forgot to post the photos
- 0:27photos. I thought, you know, what the
- 0:29hell? We'll just, we'll see if anybody
- 0:31even notices. It's all good.
- 0:33They think they did OK, but you know what, listener?
- 0:36Erica has abandoned me so she wasn't at the office to give me
- 0:40shit over. Oh, you know what then that then
- 0:41it's. It worked out all right, so it.
- 0:42Worked out all right. We're going, we're going to,
- 0:44we're going to start over, try to be on, try to post things in
- 0:47the right order. Although storms are coming once
- 0:49again, not just your little cat. It's true.
- 0:52We actually have tornado warnings and watches and all
- 0:55kinds of things going on. I'm hoping I get a new roof.
- 0:58So here's here's hoping. Here's.
- 0:59Hoping. So fingers crossed on and to get
- 1:02some new roof and we're going to try to record this as quickly as
- 1:05possible unfortunately because we need it to be an hour long.
- 1:08It's going to be 60 minutes whether we like it or not.
- 1:10So maybe it's. Better if we just talk slow.
- 1:12OK, OK, maybe, yeah, maybe. No, it's speed.
- 1:14Speed through it. Well, I have serious beef.
- 1:18This is not. This is not a light beef.
- 1:21It's not. Lean beef.
- 1:23It's not lean by any means. Or veggie beef.
- 1:27Not impossible, not impossible beef.
- 1:30It wasn't impossible. It felt like an impossible
- 1:32experience. I see we go to get new phones
- 1:36and if anybody out there has ever had to buy a new phone and
- 1:40transfer your data and and whatnot from your old phone to
- 1:43your new phone, you know that it is a painful experience at
- 1:47times. I honestly believe that it is
- 1:49worse than buying a new car. It was I would disagree with
- 1:52that. You will wait till you hear my
- 1:54experience. We get to the Best Buy, OK, We
- 1:58were going to just stick with AT&T, whatevs.
- 2:01We get to the AT&T store. They have no new phones.
- 2:03They're out. Well run out.
- 2:06We were Sam and I were like we have paid.
- 2:09You know how you get on, you know, whatever three-year plan
- 2:11and you pay your phone off blah, blah, blah, it's paid off ready
- 2:14for new phones. Then we're going to the twice
- 2:16counselor. We want good phones.
- 2:17We want new cameras. So whatever, we're like, OK,
- 2:19fine. See if we go to Best Buy, lady
- 2:22there, real nice lady. She manages a whole bunch of
- 2:24like 10 different stores. She just happened to be in town.
- 2:26She's normally is up in Springfield.
- 2:28She was training some new kids. I was glad she was there.
- 2:30So she was great. She was really nice.
- 2:32The two kids she was training, super, super nice.
- 2:34I can see why do you hate this. No, no, no.
- 2:37Honestly, I want to make sure that I, I put this out there
- 2:39that there is absolutely no hate towards the workers at the Best
- 2:42Buy. They worked very hard.
- 2:44They tried very hard. It I don't think any of the
- 2:48issues we had were their fault. So let's put it that way.
- 2:51Let's, I just want to put that out there before because I don't
- 2:53want anybody to hate on the Best Buy workers.
- 2:55We find out that we can get your dad for some reason a new brand
- 3:03new phone if he gets an iPhone 17, OK for nothing, no payments,
- 3:07whatever, straight up trade and we can get Sam live and I iPhone
- 3:13Max's or whatever. This, that, whatever they were,
- 3:15I don't know, for like $5.00 a month and we could switch over
- 3:20to Verizon and our bill will be less than what we were currently
- 3:23paying to AT&T. And we're like new phones switch
- 3:26over, lower bills sold. So we decided to do it.
- 3:29Yeah, well, Sam and I were the only ones at Best Buy.
- 3:30So we call, we call your, your dad and live and they hustle out
- 3:34there. And we started this process at
- 3:37like 5:00. We didn't leave the Best Buy
- 3:42until 9:00 that night. They closed at 7:00.
- 3:48We're sitting in the Best Buy at like 8:00 and all of the lights
- 3:53turn off. They're on an automatic timer.
- 3:55And we all sit there, look at you, and we're like.
- 3:58Oh my God, we're sitting in the. In the Best Buy an hour after
- 4:02they have already. Closed the woman who who was
- 4:06helping us needed to drive home to Springfield she had a 2 1/2
- 4:10hour drive so she goes I'm going to drive home just call me and
- 4:13I'll walk you through everything while she's driving and so.
- 4:17She does, bless her. Heart, but we've been through
- 4:19this process. Before of transferring her data
- 4:21and I don't know why it just wouldn't work.
- 4:27It just, it worked for Sam and Liv, but it took till 9:00 that
- 4:30night, OK. We, your dad and I, it would
- 4:35never, it would not work. We couldn't transfer data.
- 4:38We don't know if their Wi-Fi at Best Buy is terrible or if that
- 4:43four of us were trying to do it at the same time.
- 4:44We just, we don't know. They don't know, you know,
- 4:46nobody knows. Well, you know, I was trading my
- 4:48phone in because I can get you can get money off and your dad
- 4:52was trading his phone in because he was getting the the new one
- 4:54free if you trade it in. Well, we couldn't leave.
- 4:57Because we weren't supposed to walk out of there without.
- 4:59With they literally just said take the phones, go home, do it
- 5:02at home and bring them back tomorrow and we're like fine.
- 5:05And so we've we these poor kids were there three hours after
- 5:10they were supposed to get off, you know, get off work and never
- 5:12complained once, never fussed. They were very, very good about
- 5:15it. And we left there.
- 5:18We were so hungry. We were, can you even just even
- 5:22imagine? And we're starving because I've
- 5:23had a similar and you're just sitting there for hours and
- 5:26hours and hours. You haven't had a single thing
- 5:28to drink. You're dying.
- 5:29It was so warm in the store. Like it was just this miserable,
- 5:32miserable experience. And we're like, what is the
- 5:36closest restaurant that is still open on a Sunday at 9:00 PM?
- 5:41Turns out Olive Garden was open till 10.
- 5:44Hallelujah. We hustle.
- 5:45To the Olive Garden. They're closing in an hour.
- 5:49We're thinking we have plenty of time.
- 5:51We're not going to. We're not walking in 9:45.
- 5:53We're not being jerks. You know we but they have sent
- 5:55like the dude looked at us and was like, I just sent half my
- 5:57staff home and I'm like, why would you do that?
- 6:00You don't close for an hour. Like we would need food.
- 6:04Sounds like half your staff is still here.
- 6:06It's legit. Now you're saying I I do have a
- 6:08thing against like I'm not going to walk in 15 minutes before
- 6:10close. It was an hour.
- 6:12An hour is is a good amount of time.
- 6:15So we sat there for like 15 minutes waiting for a table when
- 6:18no one, you know, there's nobody there, nobody's waiting for a
- 6:20table. But it's like, well, my servers
- 6:21are all too busy and we're just, they just kind of ignored us at
- 6:24first. So I do have some beef with with
- 6:29the people who see people at Oliver and anyway, finally we
- 6:31get a table. We sit down, excellent waitress
- 6:33comes over. We're like we're starving.
- 6:35We we we don't want to keep you here forever.
- 6:38So we know what we want. Boom, boom, boom.
- 6:40Here's our. Order.
- 6:40Yeah, we were we. Were good patrons of the
- 6:43restaurant knowing that they want to close and go home too.
- 6:46Absolutely being considerate. We want food.
- 6:48You want to go home, we'll give you a good tip.
- 6:50Get her food fast. And she's like, I got you.
- 6:52She was great. OK, Brings the salad right away.
- 6:55Bread, it's like devoured immediately.
- 6:57You know the, the she brings her pasta out, she goes, she sets
- 7:01the OR you know how somebody comes out and puts the pasta
- 7:03out? Well, she comes out and takes an
- 7:05order at the table next to us. And we weren't even the last
- 7:07people that came in. She took an order.
- 7:09She turned around. And she goes, Oh my God, 'cause
- 7:15our food was gone, yeah, we had inhaled our food.
- 7:20And she goes, she literally is like Oh my God I've never seen
- 7:26anyone eat their food so fast and she yells it throughout the
- 7:31restaurant. We were rolling.
- 7:35We were like, OK, that's awesome.
- 7:37We literally ate our food in record time.
- 7:39She was like, you guys were really hungry.
- 7:42We're like we. Told you we told you we were
- 7:44hungry. We gave you a warning, but of
- 7:47course we proceed to joke amongst ourselves.
- 7:49When she walks away, we're like, oh.
- 7:50Who's Mama's little? Piggy, you know, like we're like
- 7:53and they're like, don't put your, don't put your hand too
- 7:55close at that table. Who let the locusts free at this
- 7:59table? Like.
- 8:01Oh my God, they don't need to wash.
- 8:02Those dishes, they licked them clean.
- 8:07Oh my God, Oh my God, Somebody said, I don't know who said it,
- 8:11we were all throwing the jokes out, but somebody said they
- 8:13pulled the CCTV. Wait, they the waiter puts the
- 8:17food down. It's like Dash when he puts the
- 8:19tack on the teacher's seat, immediately the food is gone.
- 8:22Right, right there. Immediately the food is gone.
- 8:26The. Food is there before we and then
- 8:29the food is gone. The food.
- 8:30Is gone. You never see him move.
- 8:31You never see him move. The food is just gone.
- 8:34Got you a camera. Oh my God.
- 8:38So, yeah, so we were, we were cracking ourselves up big time.
- 8:41So. So.
- 8:42But your beef is with this. It was honestly, the beef was
- 8:45with the Apple phones. The switchover was a nightmare.
- 8:48You have to do the update, which is whatever.
- 8:51Yeah. And I'm, I'm thinking run iPhone
- 8:531717. That means there are 16 phones
- 8:57prior to this one. And we haven't figured out how
- 9:01to do that update in a timely fashion.
- 9:03We haven't figured out how to transfer the data in a timely
- 9:06fashion. We that it takes.
- 9:08Five hours, an hour and I. Told you that it does depend on
- 9:12how much data you're moving over.
- 9:13I understood. Listen, I love the live photos.
- 9:15Don't me wrong. We got a ton of live.
- 9:16Photos it does take up a lot of storage takes a shit load of
- 9:18storage and I got of course we have your dad and I like don't
- 9:21delete anything out of our phones.
- 9:23So we were the two that were having trouble.
- 9:25It was funny because at one point, none of his his contacts
- 9:30wouldn't transfer over. Yeah.
- 9:33And. One of them was you.
- 9:36OK. And Liv says, do you really
- 9:42need? Abby's contact.
- 9:43Info And Wayne, without thinking says, well, no, but you know,
- 9:48I'd like to have it. And so that of course your
- 9:50sisters are like, they're dying because they're just like, yeah,
- 9:55we don't need that one. Keep going, keep going.
- 9:57It's fine. Oh my God.
- 10:00Then I asked Liv. Liv was done first pretty quick,
- 10:03an hour before St. Yeah, and they start at the same
- 10:07time. Yeah.
- 10:09And we're like, what the hell, Sam?
- 10:10Probably just had more stuff. To me, I guess I, I don't know,
- 10:14but she, I, I look at Liv and I'm like, how in the hell did
- 10:19your phone transfer that fast? How are you done that that
- 10:22quickly? And she goes, because I'm God's
- 10:23favorite. Yeah.
- 10:25That's what. She says straight face right at
- 10:27me. I'm like oh OK I guess.
- 10:30Apparently, apparently I am not the favorite.
- 10:34We literally came home. It was unfortunately Salmon and
- 10:37and Liv we're doing like phone to phone transfer and it worked.
- 10:42They for some reason had ours going from phone to iCloud,
- 10:46iCloud to phone. It would never work and that was
- 10:48a nightmare. So never.
- 10:49Here's my advice, never transfer your data.
- 10:52Always do the phone to phone, phone the phone.
- 10:53I'll say, I'll say that I've done phone to phone, iPad, iPad,
- 10:56stuff like that. Yeah, 100%.
- 10:58That's the way to go. So we come home, we literally
- 11:01came home after eating and we now we're on our Wi-Fi whatever
- 11:05and it transfers over. We were done within mine was I
- 11:08was done with it. We both were done maybe within
- 11:10like 45 minutes. Yeah, I was just like.
- 11:15Sometimes it just be like that. I got to go outside and bang my
- 11:17head against a brick wall now, because that was just.
- 11:18Probably a brick wall. Like a friggin nightmare.
- 11:21So it was a nightmare. It was a nightmare situation.
- 11:23And I think that Apple needs to get their shit together and
- 11:26figure out a way to make this a seamless, better, happier
- 11:30transition because it sure makes me not want to get another
- 11:33iPhone. You know what I mean?
- 11:34Like, God bless, that was awful. We walk out of there and the
- 11:38poor people, you know, they, they're the manager is waiting
- 11:41for the door to open the door for us to so we can get out.
- 11:43You know the Best Buy because they.
- 11:44Closed three hours ago and they're like, that was that was
- 11:49painful, huh? And I'm like, yeah, worse than
- 11:51buying my last time I bought a new car worse than that.
- 11:54It took longer than that. Like that was crazy.
- 11:58So that's my major beat, my serious beat with with Apple.
- 12:02Like, come on, you've had 17 times to figure this out.
- 12:07And every time the new phone comes out, people are going to
- 12:09buy it, right? Yeah, you're gonna buy the new
- 12:11phone. I will say that if you, here's
- 12:13the thing, if you have let's see if the iPhone 17, yeah, let's
- 12:15say iPhone 18 comes out, you transfer the 17 to the 18.
- 12:19Super easy, yeah. If you upload upgrade every
- 12:23single time it's it's easier because your phones are more.
- 12:26Closely compatible. So you're not waiting cause
- 12:28'cause that's the thing, most people wait.
- 12:30No, I would say most people. I'm I'm gonna guess probably
- 12:32most people wait till they're three 'cause you do the
- 12:34three-year deal right with your carrier.
- 12:36Saying I'm not saying that you should do that.
- 12:38Well, you're what I'm saying is that the people who who do that?
- 12:42Like, 'cause there are people who every time people they have
- 12:44to go and. And you know, they're not,
- 12:45they're willing to pay for it. That's what they and that's
- 12:47fine. People should spend their money
- 12:50on whatever makes them happy. Absolutely.
- 12:52No I don't give a shit. I spend money on stupid shit I
- 12:55do too. That makes me happy.
- 12:56I just bought you a cat. A cat with a pint of a hat sit
- 12:59in a box and turns out it's a clock.
- 13:00It was supposed to Pics. It's adorable.
- 13:03Who knew? Yeah, take a picture of it right
- 13:05now. So I.
- 13:05Will so I won't forget. He's adorable, but so, so do
- 13:08whatever you want. But I, I don't personally do
- 13:12that 'cause I don't, I don't need to and I don't give a shit
- 13:15person, you know what I mean? Like my phone before we got
- 13:17these new ones when we we switched over to Verizon was so
- 13:23old and it had paid off for a while.
- 13:25Right. And I just didn't.
- 13:26Want to switch 'cause I wanted to keep I had a home button.
- 13:28I wanted to keep my I'll. Tell you what.
- 13:30Every time you get a new phone you do have to deal with the
- 13:33different, well, changes. You lost your home button.
- 13:36Now I'm on 17. I don't like this.
- 13:38Instead of the little switch to make it go silent or on turn
- 13:43switch it back to ringer, you press a button.
- 13:45Well it's annoying, it's stupid. The switch was better because
- 13:48you constantly hit that button when you don't mean to and the
- 13:51switch was so much. Better.
- 13:52I know, I know that. Well it's funny because you were
- 13:54saying like if you are having so many issues of switching over,
- 13:59it's like it makes me not want to get an iPhone and they are
- 14:02counting on knowing it will be even more of a hassle for you to
- 14:06switch. Like Samsung or something?
- 14:09Or Galaxy. And what to an Android?
- 14:11Google. Pixel, yeah, the Google, yeah,
- 14:15whatever it is, they know it because we sat in the store and
- 14:17we talked about with this woman pros and cons between your
- 14:21Samsung's and your Apples and she because Sam was thinking
- 14:25about switching to a Samsung and she.
- 14:27Had an Android. Yes, and she had heard good
- 14:30things about it and honestly, six, one, half dozen other, you
- 14:35know, because as we compared the cameras, there's good and bad,
- 14:37There's pros and cons to both and you know, whatever.
- 14:41As far as she said, the main thing that keeps her with Apple
- 14:45is the security is a lot better on an Apple versus any other
- 14:50phone out there. A lot of people, older people
- 14:52who have Samsung's and Googles or whatever get hacked easier.
- 14:57And I was like, I just went, that would be me.
- 14:59No, OK, I'm not switching you. I'm like.
- 15:01Well, me, I got to say 'cause it can.
- 15:02Happen to anybody, it can happen to anybody.
- 15:04Plus I'm like I know I'm already so frustrated some days with
- 15:08this phone. Can you even imagine me dealing
- 15:10with a brand new different style of?
- 15:13I know trying to figure it out. Like nightmare, It's really
- 15:16funny 'cause my friend Nick and I, who, who we play DND on
- 15:19Monday nights, we both have Macs like, well, you know, Apple,
- 15:24Apple computers and whatnot. And we get a lot, we get a lot
- 15:28of shit from the other guys who play because of course they have
- 15:31PCs and they're like, well, it's like you just get so much more
- 15:34and you can customize, you can up, you could upgrade your RAM
- 15:37easier and blah, blah, blah. And Nick and I are both like, we
- 15:41are not arguing with, arguing with you on any of that.
- 15:44We agree 100%. But here's the thing, when I hit
- 15:47the button to turn it on, it fucking works every time.
- 15:52And we have, I have actually, I have like PCs at home, like not
- 15:56laptops, but a full like a tower PC.
- 15:59And that's like our say like our gaming computer and such like
- 16:01that. And we have both had so many
- 16:04issues with the PCs that we have to fix or whatever or like a
- 16:08game won't update. And there's no reason I never
- 16:11ever had those issues. My Mac I still have from when I
- 16:14went to college at SIU. They may as well get Macs or
- 16:18whatever I. Recall them and they're
- 16:20expensive, but it still. Works Ashley's Mac Tuesday.
- 16:26The one she had for school still worked, it just ran out of
- 16:29storage and it slowed down extremely and so we end up
- 16:32getting the one that we have now bounced just kind of like for us
- 16:34to share for stuff, but it still works.
- 16:38Is that an Apple product? The Macs are Apples.
- 16:41Yeah, Macs are Apples. Well, and the one thing I will
- 16:43give Apple, your dad's phone, for some reason, the battery, we
- 16:47actually had to go back out. I didn't tell you this part.
- 16:49We had to go back out. And you did.
- 16:51You did tell. You told me.
- 16:52Listener, Listener. His phone battery crapped out
- 16:55and we had to go up back out there and do a second transfer
- 16:59phone to phone to get him another new phone because the
- 17:03battery was bad. I sat on the little couch in the
- 17:06Best Buy and watched the entire first movie of the Harry Potter
- 17:09series while we transferred his date for a second time.
- 17:13I'm like OK, well at least Harry Potter's on I.
- 17:16I'm pretty sure he fell asleep at one point.
- 17:18In this in the best. Buy I don't know, the movie
- 17:21ended I. Woke up and walked over.
- 17:23And I'm like, are we close? I'm just like you.
- 17:26Gotta be kidding with me, yeah? Crazy, but they, but they.
- 17:31Swapped it. They swapped it out.
- 17:32Battery goes bad again. Well, we think the battery, it
- 17:35won't charge. We we were at Easter at
- 17:39Grandma's. Yeah, you were telling me this.
- 17:40The phone shuts down, won't turn back on.
- 17:42We charge it for an hour. Won't turn back on.
- 17:43We we Google ideas. Nothing.
- 17:45Won't turn back on. Luckily, Liz Friend works at the
- 17:47Apple Store in the Galleria. So now I will give Apple this.
- 17:50You can go to the Apple Store and you can get help.
- 17:54Yep, you know they're there and you can walk and like, you can
- 17:57make an appointment. But since his phone was dead, we
- 17:59actually couldn't make a physical appointment because we
- 18:02couldn't get the information off.
- 18:03The phone, you couldn't pre make an appointment, right?
- 18:05Yeah. But he's just like, get in here,
- 18:08I'll help you. Because we're like, do we go
- 18:09back to Best Buy? What do we do?
- 18:10And he's like, stop going to Best Buy.
- 18:12He's like, come here, let us run diagnostics.
- 18:14So they, they ran diagnostics on it and they're like, nothing's
- 18:17wrong with the phone. We're like, why wouldn't it
- 18:19charge? And they're like, there was an
- 18:21update. He didn't do the update.
- 18:23And it's sometimes when you don't do the update, this part
- 18:26of the phone won't speak to this part of the phone and then it
- 18:27probably wouldn't. Charge.
- 18:29So we stayed. We charged it.
- 18:30The minute we laid on, when we laid it down on one of those
- 18:33circle flat ones immediately started charging.
- 18:37And so then as soon as it charged up enough, we did the
- 18:39update and then they ran. Not really.
- 18:42We ran, they ran diagnostics and there's like not there's nothing
- 18:45with his phone, but his battery does die faster than ours.
- 18:49He's but his is just 17 hours are maxes and pros.
- 18:53So I don't know if the battery is just cheaper, crappier, I
- 18:56don't know. So I bought him this really cool
- 18:59thing. It's expensive, but I but it's
- 19:02great. He was mad at me that I bought
- 19:04it, but then this minute I put his phone on it and he was like,
- 19:05oh, look at that. So it's like literally a little.
- 19:08Phone stand but it has the magnetic charging OK so you plug
- 19:11the phone stand in and then he can put his phone on there and
- 19:15the phone is like he the phone's up in the air and in the bottom
- 19:18portion also is a charger. So you could charge like 2
- 19:21phones if you want or a watch or your iPod like I what do you
- 19:24call those iPods? Is that what?
- 19:25They're called Airpods. Thank you.
- 19:27You could charge. I put in my.
- 19:29Ear call that an iPod. IPod, I don't know what it is.
- 19:31That's really funny. Earpods what the things that
- 19:33stick in your ear, you can charge two things at the same
- 19:36time, but when you put your phone on the stand part that's
- 19:39up top and you turn it sideways, it turns it into an alarm clock.
- 19:43Very cool. You have the face of the alarm
- 19:44clock and you have it's but it's dim.
- 19:47It's like the letters are red like an old fashioned alarm
- 19:50clock. It's not obnoxious and he I'm
- 19:53like, he's going to love this. He's going to love it because he
- 19:55can wake up all night, look at his phone and it's clock is
- 19:58there. He won't have to feel around
- 20:00trying to find the phone and turn it on that it's there.
- 20:02It'll have the time on it because especially he like gets
- 20:05up in the dark, you know, he gets up so early.
- 20:06So it's like, Oh, I hate that you got to buy this, make my
- 20:09phone work. It's terrible.
- 20:09And I'm like, no, your port still works.
- 20:11There's nothing wrong with your port.
- 20:12They said they think it was the update and but I, I said, watch,
- 20:16look at this. And I put it on there and I turn
- 20:18sideways and it turns and you have several screens that you
- 20:20can actually choose from. And we let him pick the one.
- 20:23He goes, Oh, that's nice. So he really, really.
- 20:28Liked it. That's good.
- 20:29So it was like it was, I'm like, OK, we got it figured out.
- 20:33We did the update, It's charging, it's fine.
- 20:35And I got him a cool, cool charging stand, so he doesn't
- 20:37have to worry about plugging in now he can put it on the little
- 20:40circle thing and it's a pretty cool charger.
- 20:42So great. Yeah, it's pretty awesome.
- 20:45Anyway, OK, what do you got? You got a beef?
- 20:48Well, I only have a beef. OK, OK, I was gonna talk this
- 20:52last time, but we were out of time.
- 20:54And now it works out because I've actually got more
- 20:57information so I can do a more thorough synopsis.
- 21:01So, OK, lately I've been watching the PWHL.
- 21:05Now, listener, if you don't know what that is, that's the women's
- 21:08Hockey League. That's professional women's
- 21:09Hockey League. We love hockey in this house.
- 21:13You're wearing a blue shirt. Right now I am wearing my blue
- 21:15shirt. Even though they have been
- 21:16bounced from the playoffs, they still they didn't even make the
- 21:20playoffs. No oh you're right.
- 21:21It could even be before the playoffs.
- 21:23That's. Why our thing was all fucked up
- 21:26last time was because we went to the Blues the last home game.
- 21:30It was awesome. We had the best time at the last
- 21:34home Blues game, it was so much fun.
- 21:36It was so much fun, but I've been watching women's hockey
- 21:40because if you don't know, you can watch the women's hockey on
- 21:45YouTube for free and they post all the games now if you're
- 21:49like, oh great, I'll like check it out by the time this episode
- 21:52comes out. Bad news for you.
- 21:53Bad news for you because the regular season is over.
- 21:58It is, but that's the. News is, the good news is that
- 22:00this is coming out on Wednesday and the first game of the
- 22:04playoffs is I think Friday. Woo Hoo.
- 22:08OK, and playoff hockey is even more fun than regular season
- 22:15hockey. If you haven't watched any
- 22:16playoff hockey ever, it's a lot of fun because all bets are off.
- 22:21Everything starts over and and and anything can happen.
- 22:24I lied the first. The first game of the playoffs
- 22:27will be Thursday at 6:00 PM. OK, Central Time.
- 22:31OK, now here's the thing. OK, the PWHL and the NHL have a
- 22:38few different rules. They do.
- 22:41Number one, there's only eight teams in the PWHL, so obviously
- 22:45you're not going to have a 16 team playoff like the NHL.
- 22:48True, it would be very difficult to do.
- 22:50There's only 8 periods so only can't can't do it.
- 22:53So only the top four teams. Go to the playoffs and it it
- 22:58came down to the last fucking game.
- 23:01Unbelievable. Unbelievable.
- 23:04We were. It does seem to happen that like
- 23:05that in the NHL. I mean, they've usually
- 23:07clinched, right? There's there's a few different
- 23:09rules about like the point system and that kind of
- 23:11determines it. And then for the PWHL draft,
- 23:16they, it's not like who in, in NFL, in the NFL, if you have the
- 23:22worst record, you typically get the first draft pick, right?
- 23:26And and. Yeah, if you.
- 23:28Win the Super Bowl, you get the. Last, a lot of men's sports,
- 23:33you're right, whether it's basketball or hockey or or or
- 23:35NFL. Baseball.
- 23:36Well, hockey is the has the lottery.
- 23:39And that's true, but a lot of them, if you have a good record,
- 23:42you're not going to pick first. They let the guys, the teams
- 23:45with the the lesser records that they're going to go first.
- 23:47Yeah, right. That's usually the norm.
- 23:48So a lot of teams when once you've been eliminated from the
- 23:51playoffs, they will tank to get a better draft pick.
- 23:55But that is not how the PWHL works.
- 23:57In the PWHL, once you've been eliminated from the playoffs,
- 24:00every game that you win or go to overtime, you earn points.
- 24:05Now those points usually work for the standings of who's going
- 24:08to go to the playoffs, but once you've been eliminated, those
- 24:12points go towards. It's like the Golden Plan or
- 24:16something like that is what they call it.
- 24:17And it's basically the team who accrues the most points gets the
- 24:21number one overall draft pick, which is awesome because it
- 24:23gives those teams something to play for.
- 24:25And so if you're going to watch a game, you know, like let's say
- 24:28Seattle and Vancouver, both teams were eliminated.
- 24:33You, you still, it's still worth going to go to the game because
- 24:36those teams are both playing for a draft pick right now.
- 24:41The other thing that's really interesting is that if you
- 24:45finish first overall, you get to pick who you face in round one
- 24:51of the playoffs cuz there's just semifinals in the finals, so you
- 24:54pick. Between you get to pick which is
- 24:56wild. So, so between teams three and
- 24:58four, whoever comes in 3rd and 4th in the in the standings, you
- 25:01get to pick one of those teams to play in the first round and
- 25:04then of course the other will play #2 OK, so The thing is this
- 25:10is the third season and in the first two seasons the team that
- 25:15has come in first and has picked their opponent has been bounced
- 25:17in the first round Both times. Both times.
- 25:20Both times. Now it's like curse, right?
- 25:23You almost don't want to come in first and pick right?
- 25:25In in year one, in the 2023 to 2024 season, OK, the Toronto
- 25:34Sceptres picked Minnesota to play in round one.
- 25:39Minnesota was the number four team and they upset them.
- 25:43They lost the 1st 2. They it's best of five.
- 25:45So they lost the first two games and then won the next three and
- 25:48bounced the scepters in round one to move on Wild, wild.
- 25:52Then in the second, second year, 2024 to 2025, the Montreal
- 25:59Victoire, they come in first and they decide they're going to
- 26:03pick the Ottawa charge. They're going to play them in
- 26:06the first in the first round and the Ottawa Charge bounces
- 26:08Montreal. OK, now they they.
- 26:12So then they are eliminated. Fun fact, in in year 1, the
- 26:18Minnesota Frost would go on to win the the Walter Cup
- 26:22championship and then in year 2, Ottawa Charge would actually
- 26:27play Minnesota for the championship and Minnesota won
- 26:30again, again, again. So they there's only been 2,
- 26:33there's only been 2-2 years. And Minnesota, the Minnesota
- 26:36Frost, yeah, Minnesota Frost has been the Champions.
- 26:39Both times, won it both times. I love the frost.
- 26:41I love their uniforms. It's like a purple light, dark
- 26:43purple, light purple. Yeah.
- 26:45It's like a like a lavender almost.
- 26:47It's so pretty, I love it. Purple's like my second favorite
- 26:49color. You didn't know that about me.
- 26:51I love it. They were my fave.
- 26:52I love the little frozen like little F.
- 26:55On there, it's very cool. I like them a lot.
- 26:58I like the rest of the team. They're really cool and they're
- 27:01close to us. They're the closest team to us.
- 27:03It's true location wise. So someday we're gonna go in
- 27:05four-game? Sure.
- 27:06Yeah. Now, The thing is, so the four
- 27:09teams that are in the playoffs right now are, well, yeah,
- 27:13Montreal, Victoire, they came in first, a nail biter to the end.
- 27:18Anna, you know, I was messaging you.
- 27:20I called you on Sunday because Saturday night I'm up to like
- 27:231230 watching this freaking hockey game.
- 27:25Because they didn't just it had to go to overtime, then we had
- 27:28to go to a shootout, then we had to go to extra shootouts.
- 27:30Oh, my God, so dramatic. The winner, the winner of the
- 27:33game, if Montreal had won, was going to get, was going to lock
- 27:36up first place and then they would get to pick their
- 27:39opponent. But if Seattle won, they would
- 27:42lock up the number one overall draft pick.
- 27:44So it was it was dramatic and it was close.
- 27:48Which is the best? It's the best.
- 27:50What a way, what it was the last, last game of the regular
- 27:53season. What a way to end it
- 27:55outstanding. What a nail biter.
- 27:57What a nail biter now. So again, Montreal victoire #1
- 28:02the Boston fleet coming #2 Now if you watched any Olympics and
- 28:08you know anything about the women's hockey team, you know
- 28:10that Aaron Frankel, Frank's red hot sauce.
- 28:12She is the goalie for the United States women's team and she only
- 28:16allowed like 2 fucking goals for the Olympics.
- 28:19Which of the entire Olympics? The women's team, if you didn't
- 28:22watch any of the Olympics, I hope you watch some of the
- 28:23women's hockey because the women's U.S. team was on.
- 28:27Amazing, absolutely amazing. She she's the best goalie in the
- 28:31league. She plays for the Boston fleet.
- 28:33OK, so they're they're the number two team #3 is the
- 28:36Minnesota Frost OK now we've already said that they are.
- 28:39They're going for the three peat.
- 28:41OK, they already won first two. They're back.
- 28:43Let's go, baby. They're also the number one
- 28:45offense in the PWHL. Oh OK, awesome.
- 28:48And then the Ottawa charge. It was between them and the
- 28:54Toronto Ceptors, and they played head to head this past Saturday.
- 28:58And it was also crazy. Head to head on the last game of
- 29:02the season. In the winner.
- 29:03Winner gets to go to the playoffs.
- 29:09Ottawa wins, Ottawa wins. They're in.
- 29:11That's your number four team now.
- 29:13OK, Montreal is the number one team and they have to pick
- 29:18between. Well, you told me they get. 24
- 29:20hours, yes, they got 20. From the moment that they win,
- 29:22they've got 24 hours to announce on their social.
- 29:24Media, the moment they win the clock, they're on the clock, I
- 29:29believe. So they're on the clock and and
- 29:31you got 24 hours to say who you who they're going to play.
- 29:34Right. And so so they've got to a virus
- 29:37to pick between Minnesota, who is again two time defending
- 29:43champion, or the Ottawa Charge who they picked literally last
- 29:49year. And lost to it, got bounced.
- 29:53Who do you pick? Who do you pick?
- 29:55And they picked the frost. They picked the frost.
- 29:57Now, let me tell you something. This is why these players are
- 29:59the best, because immediate drama, immediately the drama.
- 30:04You've picked, you've decided to play Minnesota, You're scared of
- 30:08Ottawa. You've you've sent a message
- 30:10that you're scared. Now here's the thing.
- 30:13Montreal is amazing. They've got the best record.
- 30:15Obviously in the PHL, they're the best.
- 30:19They have my favorite line. Now, if you don't know anything
- 30:22about hockey, you don't know anything about hockey.
- 30:24You you play in lines that sounded stupid, but there are
- 30:29lines of players that swap in and out and whatnot.
- 30:31They have different players, they're literally called lines
- 30:34and they cuz it's exhausting and so you're constantly trading.
- 30:38It's about 5 players. Trading outlines and some lines
- 30:41are specialized in like penalty kills and different things like
- 30:46that. Defenders, forwards, etcetera.
- 30:48So you know they literally play 5 players.
- 30:52Yes, one of them was a goalie. No 6.
- 30:54No 6. Players 1 was a goalie my.
- 30:56Bad Yeah, five players to a line typically correct.
- 31:00So when So, Montreal has my favorite line which is Abby Rock
- 31:07and the wives line. Abby.
- 31:09Rock and the wives line. That's fantastic.
- 31:12It's my favorite line because one, it sounds like a killer
- 31:15band name. Abby Rock and the wives line.
- 31:16Are you kidding me? I'd go see them right now.
- 31:18Absolutely, sign me up. You know me.
- 31:20I'm I'm, I love a good band #1. Abby Rock is a player.
- 31:24Obviously, her last name is Rock.
- 31:25It's very cool. And her name is Abby, which is
- 31:28also cool for me. We love her.
- 31:31She's really good. And then there is Marie Philip
- 31:35Philippe Poulin. OK, I had to look this up.
- 31:38And then Laura Stacy, OK. And those two are married to
- 31:43each other. Adorable.
- 31:44And they play for the same team. I love it.
- 31:46Poulin is OK. Now here's the thing, because I
- 31:48had to look this up. Poulin is like, she's, she's
- 31:53known as captain clutch, OK, She's from Canada.
- 31:56She has scored multiple like game-winning goals for for
- 32:05Canada in like the Olympics and whatnot.
- 32:08She is like she's been the face of women's hockey for like a
- 32:13decade. This woman has she's amazing in
- 32:17in 2014, in 2014, she scored the overtime winner for Canada in
- 32:22the Olympics and then she also scored the game-winning goal in
- 32:252022 at the Olympics. She's been the long time captain
- 32:29of Team Canada. She's amazing, all right, And
- 32:33she, Poulin, is the person who scored the goal for Montreal to
- 32:36win the game against Seattle and secure them the number.
- 32:39One. Of course she was.
- 32:40Of course she was. So But The thing is, Montreal
- 32:44has never won the Walter Cup championship during the WHL.
- 32:48And so this is like the one thing that she's.
- 32:50Missing. That's right.
- 32:50Yeah. So it's, she's been so close.
- 32:52She's so close. But she's known as like the
- 32:54goat, OK. And then her wife Laura Stacy is
- 32:58elite in her own wife. She's no, she's not at all known
- 33:01as like, just like Poulin's wife, like she is the alternate
- 33:04captain on on Montreal. Also played on the Olympic team.
- 33:10She is fantastic. She Linda's actually missed the
- 33:14last 10 games because of injury and Stacy has stepped up and
- 33:18been and been just a delight. Awesome, just a delight.
- 33:23Awesome, I love it. Now, The thing is, I figured
- 33:30that I would, I would give the listeners a little, you know,
- 33:33hey, you've just now started watching PWHL because I've told
- 33:36you. But of course you're excited.
- 33:38Also they have jailbreak goals they didn't even talk about.
- 33:39This we didn't even talk about. Jail.
- 33:41But OK, so if you go, if you, if your team is penalized and
- 33:44you've got a person in the penalty box and they're killed a
- 33:462 minute penalty or whatever, OK.
- 33:47If you don't watch hockey, if you commit a a penalty, there
- 33:51are things you cannot do. You cannot hook someone with
- 33:53your stick. You cannot hit somebody.
- 33:55Yeah, if you get called a penalty, you you go into the
- 33:58penalty. Box you go to the time out box.
- 34:00Literally. And your team plays short the
- 34:03player, yes, OK. And you have to try to kill the
- 34:05penalty. If the team that is on the power
- 34:07play, which is being up a player, if they score, the
- 34:10penalty is over, the person comes out-of-the-box, Hooray,
- 34:13you know, for the team that scored.
- 34:15Boo for the team that scored. If they don't score the 2 when
- 34:18When the team's up, yeah, yeah. Then they come out-of-the-box
- 34:21too, yeah. But in the PWHL, you can have
- 34:24what's called a jailbreak goal. If you score a short handed
- 34:27goal, you go down the other side and you score the penalty is
- 34:29also over and your player gets to come out.
- 34:32Yeah, yeah, we love the jailbreak role.
- 34:34It is awesome. It's awesome because it
- 34:35encourages teams to be aggressive on the penalty kill.
- 34:39Why? Why not?
- 34:40Why not? Score a Shorty and your your
- 34:43player comes up. Yes, it's great to score a short
- 34:45handed goal, but in. But The thing is, if you score a
- 34:47short handed goal, you're still but none of the PWHL because if
- 34:53you're bad enough to let them score when you have more players
- 34:56on the ice, you've you've lost your, it's true, your
- 34:59opportunity. So that's super fun.
- 35:02Now I'm going to tell you what what team you should be rooting
- 35:07for in the PWH. Oh, you're going.
- 35:08I'm going to tell you about the teams, and then you can decide
- 35:12for yourself who you want to root for.
- 35:14Quick synopsis. OK, so OK, you just start
- 35:16watching the PWHL. Who should you be rooting for?
- 35:19I don't know. I'm rooting for.
- 35:20So obviously if you're living in this area, the closest team to
- 35:27you is Minnesota, right? If you're living elsewhere, I
- 35:34don't give a shit. That's not my problem.
- 35:35That's for you to figure out. You figure out who the closest
- 35:38is to you. By the way, our secret sauce is
- 35:40hockey sauce. It's a, it's a, oh, hockey
- 35:42sauce. It's a hot sauce.
- 35:44OK, hockey sauce. So Montreal, you're rooting for
- 35:49them like people root for the Patriots or the Chiefs.
- 35:55These are the best teams in the league and you, you know, you
- 36:00want them to win. You've got the best team on
- 36:03paper. You've got superstars like
- 36:05Poulin and Stacy and Abby Rock. You got skill, speed, highlight
- 36:11plays. They got it all.
- 36:12They're goalie and Rene Desvienz, and I've probably
- 36:17butchered that because it's French for French Canadian.
- 36:21She is the #2 goalie in the league right after Aaron
- 36:26Frankel. And it's very, very close.
- 36:28But it is, it's gonna be close. If you want to root for
- 36:33greatness, maybe a little heartbreak, pick Montreal.
- 36:37They got something to prove. They've been bounced.
- 36:39They've not even they they've not even played, I don't think
- 36:42in the championship game yet, not yet.
- 36:46And they have they got bounced last year in the first round.
- 36:49This is their redemption. They're they got a knockout, the
- 36:51defending champion who they have swept this year every time that
- 36:55they've played them. Montreal has won.
- 36:57This is going to be, in my opinion, so interesting because
- 37:00they chose the Frost who is who are the defending champions.
- 37:05It's it's bold. They swept them.
- 37:07They swept them previously and that doesn't usually happen
- 37:11twice, let's put it that way. And in the playoffs, like I
- 37:14said, anything can happen. Everything starts over.
- 37:16Your records are are gone. You know what I mean?
- 37:18There's no where you know, it's it's just all starts over.
- 37:22Everybody say even playing field and here we go.
- 37:24So it's it's incredible. It's really, really, really fun
- 37:29to watch. Absolutely.
- 37:30So this will be really interesting to see what happens
- 37:32here. Then you've got, you've got.
- 37:36Then you've got Minnesota. OK, now, like I said, if you
- 37:39live in this area #1 Minnesota's the closest team to us.
- 37:42But another reason, especially if you're in the Saint Louis
- 37:44area, to root for Minnesota, is because a girl, her name is
- 37:47Jincy Rose. She plays for Minnesota.
- 37:51I forget. Whenever she wears, doesn't
- 37:53matter, she's from O'Fallon, Missouri, so you have room for
- 37:56the hometown hero. That's that's her.
- 37:59She's she's great. Awesome.
- 38:02They have Taylor Heisey, who's like their best player.
- 38:05She wears #27 we love that. For me, OK, they have of the
- 38:12like top five like or the top 4 like point scores, which you get
- 38:17a point for scoring goals and for assists.
- 38:20The top four or five Minnesota had three of their players are
- 38:24in the top five. Awesome, very, very good.
- 38:27They score more goals than any other team just based on the
- 38:32numbers. OK.
- 38:34Numbers don't lie. A lot of people don't like them
- 38:37because they are the two time defending champion, so it's of
- 38:39course you're going to hate people.
- 38:40People like to hate a champion Which.
- 38:42Whatever. I don't care.
- 38:43But they sort of kind of come in and ruin everyone else's story,
- 38:49you know what I mean? Like Toronto was #1 in your one,
- 38:53they pick Minnesota thinking, hey, they're the number four
- 38:56team. It's their worst one.
- 38:57They upset them and they which. Is it feels like a no brainer.
- 39:00Of course you're going to pick the number four team.
- 39:02Of course of. Course you are.
- 39:04If it was, if it was later, like any other bracket, you would
- 39:06just. Be given the number four.
- 39:08Yeah, exactly. But the thing that we said, when
- 39:10you only have eight teams, Yep, you literally have a fantasy
- 39:15team on every team. Yeah, because you have the best
- 39:18of the best. We we talked about playing on on
- 39:21every team. We talked about the WNBA and how
- 39:25they have just slightly less than half of the number of teams
- 39:29that are in the NBA and in women's hockey.
- 39:31There are 24 NHL teams and there are only 8 PWHL.
- 39:35Teams. So you're so it's the third,
- 39:37Yeah. The third is so crazy
- 39:40concentrated within these eight teams.
- 39:43Now they're looking to expand. So that's.
- 39:44Exciting they are and and we really want a Saint Louis team,
- 39:48so for fuck's sake people, please support PWHL so we can
- 39:52get a women's team. Pretty sure Detroit.
- 39:54'S going to get and Detroit gets everything, I think.
- 39:57The people of Detroit, who? Would like to disagree people of
- 40:02Detroit, but. Probably made it different.
- 40:03They got no Super Bowl, but OK, so you're going to run from
- 40:08Minnesota if you want the team that is going, they want the
- 40:10three peat. They just got picked by
- 40:12Montreal. That's disrespectful.
- 40:15That's disrespectful and they they're thinking.
- 40:18We swept them already. This is going to be a good walk.
- 40:20This despite being. Mistakes for me, despite being
- 40:23the two time defending champion, they are technically the
- 40:25underdog going into this. They are and so if you but they
- 40:28have been the underdog every time every time you want it.
- 40:30Yeah. So it'll be so if you want to
- 40:32root for the underdog, that's who you're rooting for.
- 40:33OK, now two teams, Boston is the Boston fleet Boston they wear
- 40:38green. So if you like green.
- 40:40They have a dark green light green combo going on.
- 40:42I like it. So they have their their.
- 40:44The B is like an anchor. Yeah, it looks like an anchor.
- 40:47It's kind of cool. It's cool.
- 40:48Yeah. So they have the number one
- 40:50goaltender in the PWHL, Erin Frankel.
- 40:53Like I said, Frank's red hot sauce.
- 40:54We love her. They have it's It is so fun to
- 41:02watch them play because they're so fast and they're very good.
- 41:04They were the number one team until Montreal came out nowhere
- 41:08and overtook them at the very end of the.
- 41:09Season just right at the end. So they're also very, very good.
- 41:12They're very. Good.
- 41:13Watching the the puck handling is so impressive.
- 41:15And you're right, they're very they're very speedy.
- 41:17Yes, yeah. They're so fast.
- 41:18That's the thing, like I said, when when you have such a
- 41:21concentrated amount. Yes, it is.
- 41:24It is actually the PWHL is. It's less physical than the NHL,
- 41:27but not by much. But it is the most physical
- 41:31women's league in the world. Like a that was like a big thing
- 41:33when they were bringing this over from like international
- 41:35hockey. There's been other smaller
- 41:37women's hockey leagues. They were like, no, like we want
- 41:40it to be fast and physical because that's what, 1 the
- 41:43women. Traditional hockey.
- 41:44That's what hockey, yeah, those people are expecting.
- 41:46Exactly. So they are.
- 41:51Boston's gonna be dangerous if they can get some momentum
- 41:53because Aaron Frankel is not gonna give up a goal.
- 41:55They're gonna they're gonna be the games are just gonna be
- 41:57should be very good, both of them.
- 41:58They, you know, you got 24 awesome teams.
- 42:01So they're gonna be, yeah, in my opinion, I, I would think
- 42:04they're gonna be a good game A. 100% now Ottawa, this is your
- 42:08true underdog. This is your #4 They have fought
- 42:10tooth and nail to get here now, literally.
- 42:12Got in on the last game, yeah. Now the other thing is they're
- 42:16also looking for the redemption because if you recall, Ottawa
- 42:19bounced Montreal last year in round one and then lost to
- 42:24Minnesota. And so they are looking for, and
- 42:27it was a 5 game series. They win all five games.
- 42:29Oh boy. So came down to the wire and
- 42:31they and they lost Minnesota in the last game.
- 42:33So if you if this is sort of like a if you want to believe in
- 42:37miracles kind of thing. There.
- 42:38You go. But lastly, if you just want to
- 42:40watch some fun games, check it out there, it's on YouTube.
- 42:45And the the final, my final thing I'll say is that, so I've
- 42:48been focusing a lot on Montreal and Minnesota because of course,
- 42:51the drama of they picked Minnesota.
- 42:53But The thing is that Boston, Ottawa is also gonna be crazy
- 42:57because Aaron Frankel and Gwyneth Phillips, Gwyneth
- 43:01Phillips is the goalie for Ottawa.
- 43:03They played together in college. They were on the same team.
- 43:06So they are good friends. They know each other really
- 43:08well. And Gwyneth Phillips is an
- 43:09amazing goalie. She's the only goalie to catch
- 43:12right-handed. Fun fact, she's left-handed.
- 43:14She's a lefty, catches right-handed.
- 43:16So it is going to be a battle of goalies in in this matchup,
- 43:21Boston versus Ottawa. So the drama, the drama that
- 43:25game will be. Thursday at 6:00 PM Central
- 43:29time. OK, TuneIn on YouTube.
- 43:31TuneIn, you can just watch it on YouTube for free, which is nice.
- 43:34Which is kind of funny because then you said there are people
- 43:36who like, they'll put comments. If you watch it, yeah, if you
- 43:38watch it on your phone or your computer, the little comment
- 43:41thing will come up. And you can, you can, as long as
- 43:43you subscribe to the channel for free, you can post comments and
- 43:46whatnot, and it's very fun. There's a lot of inside jokes
- 43:49and things like that from just like things that happened
- 43:53throughout the year and whatnot. If you know nothing about
- 43:57hockey, it actually is perfect because they the PHL has what's
- 44:00called a Professor Puck, which is a little animated puck with
- 44:04eyelashes and it's adorable. She's adorable and she teaches
- 44:07you Hockey 101. She teaches you about the game.
- 44:09It's so great and it's so cute and, and so they they will will
- 44:14tell you. About so there's no judgement.
- 44:16If you don't know cuz no they'll tell, they'll they'll learn yet
- 44:18real good 100%. And we really want to Saint
- 44:20Louis team because they have, of course, like Pride Night and
- 44:23they had Barbie night and Barbie was a big sponsor.
- 44:27With that Barbie night. And if you don't know, if you
- 44:30don't know the PWHL, one of the founding, I don't know
- 44:34individuals behind like pushing for it was Billie Jean King, who
- 44:38of course is a badass. Who's a badass?
- 44:39If you don't know, she's the the woman famous tennis player
- 44:44famous tennis player who who played in the the air quotes
- 44:47Battle of the sexes. They made wand.
- 44:50Yeah, she's a badass. Let's go.
- 44:53Yeah, what was the quote? Somebody said if if you had
- 44:55asked Billie Jean King 25 years ago she would be dropping the
- 44:58puck at a sold out crowd at Madison Square Garden for a
- 45:03PWHL, which is professional Women's Hockey League game, she
- 45:09she would have absolutely believed it.
- 45:10She. Was the best I guess.
- 45:11Absolutely she would have. Absolutely believed it.
- 45:14That's how much of A badass she is.
- 45:15I love her, she's awesome. So yeah, it's been, it's been
- 45:18very fun. Her her wife, actually, her name
- 45:21is Ilana Kloss. The MVP for the Walter Cup
- 45:26championship game is called the Yolanda Claus.
- 45:28Oh, legit Yeah. Well, how cool was that?
- 45:30Because the two of them both barely.
- 45:31Worked really hard to to bring the NHL.
- 45:34That's so great. And you know, it's, it's so
- 45:38great because we were just, like I said, we were just at a Blues
- 45:40game. They have a lot of times in
- 45:42between first and second period, they'll bring out little kids to
- 45:46play a quick little skirmish, you know, whatever.
- 45:50And they're really little, but they're, they skate better than
- 45:53most adults, which is hilarious. And it's very, they're very cute
- 45:57and they're very fun to watch. And then they always pick one of
- 46:00the little players and they interview them and they pick
- 46:02this little girl. And it was so awesome because
- 46:05they asked her what is what is the the thing you like the most
- 46:08about hockey? And Abby, what was her answer?
- 46:12Hidden people. People and people, the whole
- 46:15place cheers. It's so great.
- 46:17We're like yes, go. So how awesome it is the to have
- 46:21the PWHL? Now, and these little girls can
- 46:23watch. When they do that too.
- 46:24They also they bring out girls to bring to play.
- 46:27Good for them. It's really cute.
- 46:28It's very. Cute.
- 46:29Yeah. Honestly, at the end of the day,
- 46:30what's important is support women's sports because it's very
- 46:33fun to watch. It is.
- 46:35And it you just see like so many, so many of these players
- 46:40when they're doing the interviews, they're like, no,
- 46:42I'd never in a million years would imagine this is ever
- 46:44possible because so many of them were playing in these other
- 46:47leagues that are smaller leagues and then working jobs on the
- 46:49side. Right.
- 46:50I mean, because this doesn't pay, it doesn't pay it, it
- 46:52doesn't pay that well. And now they now it does not
- 46:54only are there not the opportunities, they're not near
- 46:58the opportunities like there are for men.
- 46:59And and then the pay is also typically not exist, not even
- 47:03close to Yeah, right. Well, so the pay is not even
- 47:06enough to support your family, you know, So yeah, it's but
- 47:10these but women deserve to play too.
- 47:12They want to play just as much as men do.
- 47:14So, and it's just as exciting like and, and watching, you
- 47:19know, when you're watching any like live sport, they always do
- 47:22cut to the crowd and they show it not and you just see so many
- 47:25like women and little girls and whatnot.
- 47:27And they're just, they're just so excited.
- 47:29Like I remember watching and it was like whatever thing was like
- 47:32they were sold out of jerseys around and they've got these
- 47:34girls and they've got their like they've made these shirts and
- 47:37jerseys because they just couldn't get any.
- 47:39And so they've made their own because they want to like,
- 47:41support the team, and it's adorable.
- 47:44And I love it. They're getting so excited and
- 47:45get behind. It Yeah, yeah.
- 47:47And I'm like, you know, like they, a lot of the players have
- 47:51said like that they would have killed for this growing up, you
- 47:57know, to be able to watch professional women's hockey
- 47:59first as a little girl interested in hockey, you know,
- 48:04and, and so I'm, I'm always gonna be a proponent of women's
- 48:08sports. We've come a long way, baby,
- 48:10We've got a long way to go. But at least it's an awesome
- 48:13start, 100%. And we really want to stay in
- 48:14Louis team. Yes.
- 48:17I I would kill. It would be fun.
- 48:18It would be super fun. I would be so there.
- 48:20OK, damn it. Detroit, do we have time since?
- 48:23Can I tell you something else? I've saved this because I've
- 48:26been wanting to read you these things.
- 48:27These are funny stories that people have posted and it's.
- 48:30All about They're all about family.
- 48:32Family Dom. So we're going, yeah.
- 48:35We say that to our Kitty. OK, so I was just going to read
- 48:40a few of these. This one says my wife and I
- 48:44eloped, but then a month later they had a reception for her
- 48:48family and friends. On the invitation they wrote
- 48:51Bring an appetite. There were Uncle Jerry misreaded
- 48:55as Bring an appetizer, and he walked in with a crock pot full
- 48:58of enchiladas. I find that adorable, this
- 49:01catered meal. Here comes Uncle Jerry, who is a
- 49:04crock pot full of enchiladas. Good for you, Uncle Jerry.
- 49:07You know what? Nobody else brought any
- 49:09appetizers. Nope.
- 49:11OK, this is a Christmas card from an elderly relative.
- 49:16We respect her honesty. This is to the family.
- 49:19I have forgotten the names of the children from Mad Aunt
- 49:22Margaret. I've.
- 49:25Forgotten the names of the children I'm.
- 49:29Dead I just remember that I have a funny shorts OK as well so OK
- 49:33both. This one is about this girl's
- 49:36mom. She's gotten in so many fights
- 49:37with her friends over the years that all she's down to One last
- 49:40picture with ladies with no heads.
- 49:43She's ripped the heads off of all her friends and it's just
- 49:46her. With.
- 49:48She's the only one with the head left.
- 49:49She. Clearly really likes that photo.
- 49:50Of herself and she's kept it and.
- 49:52Ripped 1 by 1. There's like 3 friends in there
- 49:55with her, four maybe ripped their heads off.
- 49:57Jesus. Wow OK.
- 49:59My grandma asked me at a family gathering if I had a boyfriend
- 50:03yet. I said no and she was like well
- 50:07one time I was bored and I went to a random funeral.
- 50:10That's How I Met your grandfather.
- 50:13Apparently the random funeral was her grandpa's dad's funeral.
- 50:17Her grandpa's dad had died. Her grandma shows up to this.
- 50:21They're young. Her, this girl's grandma goes to
- 50:26a random funeral and meets her future husband, right?
- 50:28And it so it was her grandpa's dad who had passed away and she
- 50:33went to a funeral and picked up a dead guy's son.
- 50:37At the funeral like. I aspire to be here.
- 50:41Outstanding. OK, at a family dinner someone
- 50:44asked. So how's everyone enjoying the
- 50:46last name? I'll never what's.
- 50:52The last name? Oh, Harrison.
- 50:56No idea. How's everyone enjoying the last
- 50:58name? I'm like, OK, let's see when I
- 51:03was, I was enjoying my day one day, but then all of a sudden I
- 51:06remember back in 8th grade, I borrowed my mom's laptop and
- 51:10this was her search history. My daughter doesn't fit in and
- 51:13gets excluded. My child is unlikable, my
- 51:18daughter is annoying. I really don't like my son, my
- 51:24child. Oh another my child isn't
- 51:26likeable for the mom who doesn't like her daughter empathetic
- 51:30parenting. My teenage daughter doesn't fit
- 51:34in all that same thing. Wow, wow, rough.
- 51:37That would be rough if you read. Can you imagine if you read
- 51:39that? Yikes.
- 51:41OK, this person posted. People without siblings should
- 51:46required to under should be required to undergo rigorous
- 51:49training before they are allowed to become a roommate.
- 51:52Oh. Actually saying yes, the only
- 51:56children who responded to this post are having fits as only
- 52:01children would have, Stating that they are very angry,
- 52:06writing paragraphs about how we didn't factor in their specific
- 52:09personal experiences and we don't realize they're exhibiting
- 52:13only child behavior in a way that you couldn't make up.
- 52:16Yeah, the only children had a fit about that.
- 52:19Let's see. When I'm feeling old, I like to
- 52:20visit my parents so they can push all my buttons until I lose
- 52:23my shit. And just like that, I'm 16
- 52:24again. Just like that.
- 52:27I'm 16. I guess My birthday is 9 months
- 52:29to the day after my dad's. I have to live with that
- 52:32knowledge for the rest of my life.
- 52:37Me a surgeon chopping sweet potatoes with my mom.
- 52:40My mom says to me, be careful with that knife.
- 52:46Let's see, I tell people all the time now.
- 52:48My parents didn't pass any weird habits on to me as I show up
- 52:53five hours to the airport. Five hours early.
- 52:55That's when you had to show up to the.
- 52:57Airport, I say now. You do, yes.
- 52:59Let's see, I'm too old to meeting new cousins.
- 53:01If you aren't at grandma's, I don't know who you are.
- 53:04Older sibling. Older siblings say my baby
- 53:07brother. My baby brother who is 42 years
- 53:09old is legit. Sure my mom birthed me and
- 53:13raised me but I've had to explain to her how to check her
- 53:16e-mail 95,000 times. So we're going to call it even.
- 53:21We're going to call it even. So what was the what was the
- 53:23underlying? These are all just like parents,
- 53:25just family family quotes about. Families, let's see, parents,
- 53:30parents who say I gave you everything I had and everything
- 53:35meant the collector's edition box set of mental illness.
- 53:41I thought that was the last one. That was pretty good.
- 53:43I got, OK, I have a really short thing that I saw and I wrote
- 53:45down, OK, I just wrote down the words Minnesota Confederate.
- 53:48Flag. OK, I know.
- 53:51I I was shocked. I literally shocked me.
- 53:53There's a Confederate flag in Minnesota.
- 53:56In Minnesota. OK, hit me with it.
- 53:58Minnesota So I just think that this is very funny, OK?
- 54:02Minnesota holds a captured 28th Virginia Infantry battle flag
- 54:06from the 1863 Battle of Gettysburg, taken by Private
- 54:09Marshall Sherman of the First Minnesota Volunteer Infantry
- 54:13Regiment. So they captured it, yes.
- 54:17OK, yeah, at a battle and get. His when they defeated yeah,
- 54:21yes, OK. The state considers the blood
- 54:23stained bullet holed flag a symbol of victory and a
- 54:27treasured artifact. Now why why do I find this story
- 54:32funny? Because Virginia has petitioned
- 54:36them to return. To get it back OK.
- 54:38Multiple. Times.
- 54:40They're like, no. Every single time they, the
- 54:45governor has struck it down like, no, you're what?
- 54:48You're not going to do anything. We want anything good with that.
- 54:51We're keeping it. We want it.
- 54:52We won that battle fair and square.
- 54:54We're keeping the flag. Fair and square, we're keeping
- 54:56the damn flag. Now here's the thing.
- 55:00Well, first of all, the location.
- 55:02The flag was kept in Minnesota exhibiting the state capitol and
- 55:05now resides with the Minnesota Historical Society, which holds
- 55:08it in high security storage, rarely displaying it due to its
- 55:11fragile conditions. Virginia has repeatedly
- 55:15requested the return of the flag, including 1961, 2002, 1003
- 55:19and 2013, all of which were declined.
- 55:22Now listen to this. They they did before they
- 55:25officially petitioned back in 1960.
- 55:28They just kind of asked if they could have it back.
- 55:30OK, the governor, Jesse Ventura famously said.
- 55:34Jesse Ventura, who was a wrestler, famously said.
- 55:38Why? I mean, we won.
- 55:43Honestly, the only good thing Jesse Ventura as governor of
- 55:46Minnesota ever did was declined to give them back.
- 55:49The we're not giving it back. So I just find it very funny.
- 55:52That's hilarious. Can we please have our flag
- 55:55back? Minnesota's like, fuck, you know
