- 0:34[SPEAKER_00]: Also on the rise network, which is a growing network of of podcasts that you need to watch and share with your friends by the way.
- 0:41[SPEAKER_02]: All right, and for those of you that are unfamiliar with lunchtime trivia, it's a quick, you know, ten question trivia, ten minute, that we do it, yeah, not even ten minutes.
- 0:50[SPEAKER_02]: It's short.
- 0:51[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, you run through he runs through ten questions.
- 0:53[SPEAKER_02]: There's a bunch of episodes already out there, but, uh, and of our will kind of be the host of it now.
- 0:57[SPEAKER_02]: Right.
- 0:58[SPEAKER_02]: So ten questions or short questions.
- 1:00[SPEAKER_02]: It doesn't matter if you really know the answer.
- 1:02[SPEAKER_02]: It's just more fun.
- 1:02[SPEAKER_00]: It's not about getting them right about having a little bit of fun during lunchtime and then you give the answer.
- 1:07[SPEAKER_00]: I give a, well, I give the question.
- 1:09[SPEAKER_00]: And then I wait a little bit, and then I give the answer and sometimes I make a funny little quip Okay, because that's what I do Quip a quip wow a quip you not being a stand-up comedian you might not understand what's 25% work there They're they you know it's a 35 cent quarter quip inflation my bad Yeah, okay everything goes up.
- 1:27[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it's quippy.
- 1:29[SPEAKER_02]: It is it's a quippy little tang
- 1:34[SPEAKER_02]: So this is the first episode where we decided to, uh, I guess get behind the camera.
- 1:38[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, we thought we looked people see what we looked like.
- 1:41[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 1:41[SPEAKER_02]: So you don't have to change your viewfinder or anything like that.
- 1:44[SPEAKER_02]: This is exactly what we look like.
- 1:46[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 1:46[SPEAKER_02]: Don't adjust to anything.
- 1:47[SPEAKER_02]: You're, you're, you're seeing what you're seeing.
- 1:50[SPEAKER_02]: Uh, but, uh, yeah.
- 1:50[SPEAKER_02]: So thanks again for listening to the program.
- 1:53[SPEAKER_02]: Thanks again for tuning in as well.
- 1:54[SPEAKER_02]: Uh, I appreciate all the listener feedback that we get.
- 1:57[SPEAKER_02]: I've had a couple of my friends, uh, give me some feedback at work.
- 1:59[SPEAKER_02]: A couple of logists.
- 2:00[SPEAKER_02]: There's work associates so they're kind of like friends and some other family members and stuff like that at the given us some interesting reviews Everybody likes it.
- 2:09[SPEAKER_02]: They like the banter between the two of them.
- 2:10[SPEAKER_01]: They do.
- 2:11[SPEAKER_02]: They think you're absolutely crazy about your Batman's thing and and They do not agree with you at all about Michael Keaton, but you know, that's beside the point, but anyway And yet he only did too and who else did more than two?
- 2:26[SPEAKER_00]: I think, except for Christian Bale.
- 2:29[SPEAKER_00]: Christian Bale, Christian Bale, the three.
- 2:32[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 2:33[SPEAKER_00]: Adam West did a whole, like, three years of shows that the can't be TV show.
- 2:37[SPEAKER_00]: I'm just saying, no, I get it, I get it.
- 2:39[SPEAKER_00]: They also did two Beetlejuice, by the way, which is my whole reason for thinking he's not a great Batman.
- 2:44[SPEAKER_02]: And everybody, when they heard that, they were like, you are absolutely nuts.
- 2:48[SPEAKER_02]: No, because it was literally a 30 second clip in the movie where he does that.
- 2:53[SPEAKER_02]: But it's still in the movie.
- 2:56[SPEAKER_02]: It's all good.
- 2:57[SPEAKER_02]: We're all in touch on our own opinion.
- 2:59[SPEAKER_02]: We're all in opinion.
- 3:00[SPEAKER_00]: We're on the right.
- 3:00[SPEAKER_00]: I'm wrong or right.
- 3:02[SPEAKER_00]: And we say all the time, we're not movie critics.
- 3:04[SPEAKER_00]: No, we are two guys who have been involved in media for a long, long time.
- 3:08[SPEAKER_00]: Chris, on radio, me, and television.
- 3:10[SPEAKER_00]: Stand up, comedy, musician.
- 3:11[SPEAKER_00]: So.
- 3:13[SPEAKER_00]: We think we have a little bit of a knowledge base and I'm talking about that.
- 3:19[SPEAKER_00]: We both love movies and TV shows and stuff.
- 3:21[SPEAKER_00]: So this is how this show came about.
- 3:24[SPEAKER_00]: It came about because we are both media lovers and trivia.
- 3:28[SPEAKER_00]: Kind of trivia guys too.
- 3:29[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 3:30[SPEAKER_00]: And we thought this would be fun to do it.
- 3:31[SPEAKER_00]: And with a cheesy popcorn was a good name because we both like cheesy popcorn.
- 3:35[SPEAKER_00]: I like cheesy caramel.
- 3:36[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not sure if that's your favorite anymore.
- 3:38[SPEAKER_02]: But that's not the Chicago Mac.
- 3:39[SPEAKER_00]: That is the Chicago Mac.
- 3:40[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so you probably don't like it.
- 3:42[SPEAKER_00]: I'm a Chicago guy, that's why I like it.
- 3:45[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I'm from Chicago guy too, but that doesn't mean you whether or not you need to like the cheesy mix.
- 3:51[SPEAKER_00]: That's again, the caramel flavor of a piece.
- 3:53[SPEAKER_02]: The mix to be a Chicago guy.
- 3:54[SPEAKER_00]: That's right.
- 3:55[SPEAKER_02]: That's like saying I have to be a cubs fan.
- 3:57[SPEAKER_00]: Anyway, you don't have to be a cubs fan.
- 3:59[SPEAKER_00]: And I, I am a Chicago fan.
- 4:01[SPEAKER_00]: Any sport, any Chicago sports team I root for.
- 4:05[SPEAKER_02]: even even when it comes to baseball.
- 4:07[SPEAKER_02]: It doesn't matter.
- 4:08[SPEAKER_00]: Every sport.
- 4:08[SPEAKER_00]: I don't give us tidily winks if there's a tidily winks Chicago team and they're doing well.
- 4:12[SPEAKER_00]: I'm rooting for them.
- 4:13[SPEAKER_00]: If they're not doing well, I'm still rooting for them.
- 4:16[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 4:16[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not a bandwagon fan.
- 4:17[SPEAKER_00]: Never have been.
- 4:18[SPEAKER_02]: He likes to he likes to stay right on the fence line.
- 4:22[SPEAKER_00]: That's going to post out here.
- 4:24[SPEAKER_00]: I love Chicago.
- 4:25[SPEAKER_00]: I grew up in Chicago.
- 4:26[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's one of the greatest cities in the world.
- 4:28[SPEAKER_00]: It's New York without the attitude in my opinion.
- 4:31[SPEAKER_00]: And I think we have the best skyline anywhere, personally.
- 4:34[SPEAKER_00]: That's just me.
- 4:35[SPEAKER_02]: I can't argue with that.
- 4:35[SPEAKER_02]: We do have a great skyline.
- 4:37[SPEAKER_02]: We also have some great places to see movies as well.
- 4:39[SPEAKER_02]: We do, absolutely.
- 4:40[SPEAKER_02]: Quite a few great ones.
- 4:42[SPEAKER_02]: And of course, if you know somebody who owns a movie theater, or if you want to chime in here and maybe do a little bit of sponsoring, where I was looking for somebody to sponsor the show as well too.
- 4:51[SPEAKER_02]: We'd be more than happy to actually go see some of the movies that we currently see in your places.
- 4:56[SPEAKER_02]: Absolutely.
- 4:56[SPEAKER_00]: If you want to be theater hook us up.
- 4:58[SPEAKER_00]: Sure.
- 4:59[SPEAKER_00]: Sure.
- 4:59[SPEAKER_00]: We'll be more than happy to patronize you as well.
- 5:03[SPEAKER_02]: We are currently patronizing a couple of the local ones in our area as well too.
- 5:07[SPEAKER_02]: And that brings us to what's going on this week.
- 5:09[SPEAKER_02]: So every week what we do on the show is we review a movie that came out recently.
- 5:14[SPEAKER_02]: We may not necessarily get to the ones that come out every single weekend.
- 5:17[SPEAKER_02]: But we try to.
- 5:17[SPEAKER_02]: We try.
- 5:18[SPEAKER_02]: And we're not just limiting ourselves to theater.
- 5:21[SPEAKER_02]: No.
- 5:22[SPEAKER_02]: Well, I should say cinema.
- 5:23[SPEAKER_02]: Right.
- 5:24[SPEAKER_02]: We also talk about stuff that comes out on streaming services as well.
- 5:27[SPEAKER_02]: And sometimes TV shows.
- 5:29[SPEAKER_02]: Right.
- 5:29[SPEAKER_02]: Exactly.
- 5:29[SPEAKER_02]: And I was just about to say if there's some movie that's coming out, or if there's one week that's where we're just kind of like, you know what?
- 5:34[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not feeling any of the movies.
- 5:35[SPEAKER_02]: We'll probably talk about a TV show.
- 5:37[SPEAKER_02]: There's like some great TV shows out there right now that we could probably talk about it as well.
- 5:40[SPEAKER_02]: We're about mass media.
- 5:41[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, exactly.
- 5:43[SPEAKER_02]: Not mash media.
- 5:44[SPEAKER_00]: Not mash.
- 5:44[SPEAKER_02]: Although that was a great show.
- 5:45[SPEAKER_02]: That was a great show.
- 5:46[SPEAKER_00]: Love mash.
- 5:47[SPEAKER_02]: So this week we're reviewing Dead Man's Wire, which made my top three list, top three of all timeless, which one will tell you in a second.
- 5:55[SPEAKER_02]: And then coming out this coming week, some decent movies coming out, a return to silent hill, which if you're a horror fan or a video game fan, you probably know all about silent silent hill.
- 6:06[SPEAKER_02]: It's kind of a, it's basically a horror flick, and so we're returning to it.
- 6:11[SPEAKER_02]: I guess is the best way to put it.
- 6:12[SPEAKER_02]: H is for Hawk is also coming out in, by the way, when we talk about movies, we talk about movies that are basically like in a nationwide release kind of thing.
- 6:21[SPEAKER_02]: So if there's something that's coming out exclusively or a limited release, we tend to not talk about it just because we want to make sure that you're able to see it.
- 6:27[SPEAKER_02]: Because there are people that listen and watch all over the world.
- 6:31[SPEAKER_02]: So to speak.
- 6:31[SPEAKER_02]: And you know what?
- 6:32[SPEAKER_02]: This may not be the week that that movie comes out around you.
- 6:35[SPEAKER_00]: You don't know.
- 6:36[SPEAKER_00]: I guess you got a comment from a guy in Guam.
- 6:38[SPEAKER_00]: No.
- 6:39[SPEAKER_00]: We said he loves our show.
- 6:40[SPEAKER_02]: Nice.
- 6:42[SPEAKER_00]: That's it.
- 6:43[SPEAKER_00]: Just he loves our show and he loves our show.
- 6:45[SPEAKER_00]: First time listening.
- 6:46[SPEAKER_02]: First time listening or a long time fan kind of thing.
- 6:47[SPEAKER_00]: First time there long time I linder.
- 6:50[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, there you go, I linder, I like that.
- 6:51[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, Guam is a beautiful island.
- 6:53[SPEAKER_00]: It was there in the Navy, and it's a beautiful people, or wonderful, the food is great.
- 6:58[SPEAKER_00]: And it's just a beautiful place.
- 7:00[SPEAKER_00]: If you want to go somewhere that's kind of out of the beaten path for vacation, go to Guam, beautiful place.
- 7:07[SPEAKER_00]: There you go, you're in a place.
- 7:08[SPEAKER_02]: You heard it from the the fence leaner.
- 7:11[SPEAKER_02]: No, I'm just kidding.
- 7:13[SPEAKER_02]: So it's kind of an interesting movie.
- 7:16[SPEAKER_02]: It's about a gal who's father passes away, and then she's knocked sideways by grief and loss in her memories of all kinds of things.
- 7:25[SPEAKER_02]: It sounds interesting, but that's not the movie we're gonna review this week.
- 7:28[SPEAKER_02]: We're actually gonna remove review a movie called Mercy.
- 7:30[SPEAKER_02]: Mercy, it has nothing to do well.
- 7:33[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe it does have something to do with Mercy, but not Mercy and like an Elvis Presley kind of way.
- 7:36[SPEAKER_02]: I heard you had to do the light.
- 7:38[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I heard you were gonna hear to do that.
- 7:40[SPEAKER_02]: Mercy.
- 7:40[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, basically it starts Chris Pratt and he's in the future.
- 7:44[SPEAKER_02]: He's a detective like Chris Pratt.
- 7:45[SPEAKER_02]: He's standing trial for being accused of murdering his wife and then he's got 90 minutes to prove his innocence based on an AI judge who was played by Rebecca Ferguson and then he gets to determine his own fate.
- 7:59[SPEAKER_02]: So it's pretty interesting.
- 8:01[SPEAKER_02]: It's kind of a sci-fi copy kind of movie.
- 8:03[SPEAKER_00]: Kind of like time-cop, sort of like time-cop.
- 8:06[SPEAKER_00]: I guess?
- 8:06[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 8:07[SPEAKER_00]: In a roundabout sort of way?
- 8:08[SPEAKER_00]: That was a good movie.
- 8:09[SPEAKER_00]: I like time-cop, with Mr. Vandam.
- 8:11[SPEAKER_02]: I was gonna say, wasn't that John Crod von Vandam?
- 8:13[SPEAKER_00]: John Crod von Vandam.
- 8:14[SPEAKER_02]: Like, towards the end of his career, basically.
- 8:16[SPEAKER_00]: Uh, yeah, not quite.
- 8:17[SPEAKER_00]: Kind of in the middle, I think.
- 8:18[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if I ever saw that.
- 8:20[SPEAKER_00]: It's good.
- 8:20[SPEAKER_02]: It was a blood sport.
- 8:22[SPEAKER_02]: That was the first one.
- 8:23[SPEAKER_02]: It was the first one.
- 8:24[SPEAKER_02]: I can't remember some of the other stuff he was, and because they were all kind of the same.
- 8:27[SPEAKER_02]: Like, it seemed like he was in three movies out in a row.
- 8:29[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, they were all like, they were all fighting movies for the most part.
- 8:32[SPEAKER_00]: But he did do a movie with... Oh, he was a mortal combat, too.
- 8:37[SPEAKER_02]: I think you that are, no, street fighters.
- 8:38[SPEAKER_02]: Street fighters.
- 8:39[SPEAKER_02]: He was a street fighter.
- 8:39[SPEAKER_00]: He was in a movie where I actually got a chance to meet him.
- 8:43[SPEAKER_00]: I don't want a name drop.
- 8:44[SPEAKER_00]: But I met him on an airplane on my way to Paris.
- 8:47[SPEAKER_00]: And he was in two seas behind me.
- 8:50[SPEAKER_00]: And the other person I was with said, I can't be him, I can't be, I go out and be him.
- 8:54[SPEAKER_00]: He's got a big bump on his forehead.
- 8:56[SPEAKER_00]: Not many actors have that.
- 8:57[SPEAKER_00]: And on top of that, they brought him a second meal.
- 9:00[SPEAKER_00]: Why we were landing.
- 9:01[SPEAKER_00]: So then I, it was definitive that it was him.
- 9:03[SPEAKER_00]: And he was nice enough to give me an autograph for my kids.
- 9:06[SPEAKER_00]: And I can't think, I will look it up.
- 9:08[SPEAKER_00]: The name of the movie that he was in, where he doesn't, he fights a little bit, but he doesn't fight like normally he would fight.
- 9:16[SPEAKER_00]: And I thought, I actually told him, I said, I thought that was my favorite movie of yours.
- 9:21[SPEAKER_00]: And he kind of appreciated that because he got a chance to actually act and not just, you know, beat people up.
- 9:27[SPEAKER_00]: Kickboxer?
- 9:28[SPEAKER_00]: Nope.
- 9:29[SPEAKER_00]: The bodyguard?
- 9:30[SPEAKER_00]: Nope.
- 9:31[SPEAKER_02]: Not really the bodyguard.
- 9:31[SPEAKER_02]: It was called something else.
- 9:32[SPEAKER_02]: I think it was called, like, the safety guard or something.
- 9:34[SPEAKER_02]: Double team was the movie that I was trying to do.
- 9:36[SPEAKER_02]: That was with the basketball player, Rodman.
- 9:40[SPEAKER_02]: Dennis Rumpman.
- 9:40[SPEAKER_02]: Double impact.
- 9:41[SPEAKER_02]: Nope.
- 9:42[SPEAKER_02]: Was another one of his as well.
- 9:44[SPEAKER_02]: Oh.
- 9:46[SPEAKER_02]: interesting.
- 9:47[SPEAKER_02]: The gardener.
- 9:48[SPEAKER_02]: Nope.
- 9:48[SPEAKER_02]: I didn't think so.
- 9:50[SPEAKER_00]: Nope.
- 9:50[SPEAKER_00]: Nope.
- 9:50[SPEAKER_00]: Nope.
- 9:50[SPEAKER_02]: Nope.
- 9:51[SPEAKER_02]: Nope.
- 9:51[SPEAKER_02]: Let's see.
- 9:52[SPEAKER_02]: Last missionary hitman 3.
- 9:54[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, he died young.
- 9:55[SPEAKER_02]: The balancer.
- 9:55[SPEAKER_02]: That's what I'm sorry.
- 9:56[SPEAKER_02]: Blackwater.
- 9:57[SPEAKER_02]: Nope.
- 9:59[SPEAKER_02]: Well, we're, we're getting, we're getting short on Van, Van Damovis here.
- 10:02[SPEAKER_02]: Kung Fu Panda 3?
- 10:04[SPEAKER_02]: No.
- 10:04[SPEAKER_02]: Although he probably would have been really good in that.
- 10:09[SPEAKER_02]: Pound a flesh.
- 10:10[SPEAKER_02]: No.
- 10:11[SPEAKER_02]: And it means closer.
- 10:12[SPEAKER_02]: No.
- 10:12[SPEAKER_02]: No.
- 10:13[SPEAKER_02]: No.
- 10:13[SPEAKER_02]: We keep going through this list forever, whatever.
- 10:14[SPEAKER_02]: Universal Soldier, maybe?
- 10:16[SPEAKER_00]: No.
- 10:16[SPEAKER_00]: He plays the next con who is traveling through a little town.
- 10:20[SPEAKER_00]: He hooks up with this woman and her son.
- 10:23[SPEAKER_02]: There's a bad guy trying to hurt her.
- 10:25[SPEAKER_02]: Who?
- 10:25[SPEAKER_02]: The Shepherd?
- 10:26[SPEAKER_00]: No.
- 10:28[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, this is bugging me now.
- 10:29[SPEAKER_00]: Second in command?
- 10:30[SPEAKER_00]: No.
- 10:31[SPEAKER_02]: How late in this career, where was this in this career?
- 10:34[SPEAKER_00]: Two later, we later in this career.
- 10:37[SPEAKER_00]: And I wish I could see the woman's face that played next to him and I can't think of her name.
- 10:43[SPEAKER_00]: God, our man's going to slay us for this one.
- 10:45[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, well, you know, he slays us for a lot of stuff.
- 10:47[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but for this one, for sure, he's going to slay us.
- 10:50[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, yeah, slay us on a John Claude van Dammovie, because, you know, I mean, seriously.
- 10:54[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 10:55[SPEAKER_02]: he had like a couple of great hits and great movies in the beginning and then it's are you keep talking we're going to talk about mercy so I look well we we kind of talked about mercy already universal soldiers the one that I know like he did like a whole ton of them he was in the last action hero too but I don't think that's what's talking about
- 11:10[SPEAKER_02]: But yeah, so anyway, move it on lionheart.
- 11:14[SPEAKER_02]: Was that it?
- 11:14[SPEAKER_00]: Nope.
- 11:15[SPEAKER_02]: That's another one of his like karate movies, if I'm a cyborg.
- 11:17[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, that's another one too.
- 11:19[SPEAKER_02]: Um, anyway, so yeah, that's the, the look at the movies that are coming out this week.
- 11:25[SPEAKER_02]: Uh, like I said, we'll go and we'll, uh, we'll review mercy.
- 11:28[SPEAKER_00]: And we're to hide.
- 11:29[SPEAKER_00]: No, it'll run.
- 11:30[SPEAKER_00]: No, it'll run.
- 11:31[SPEAKER_00]: 1993.
- 11:32[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 11:32[SPEAKER_00]: Uh, I play the next kind on the run.
- 11:33[SPEAKER_00]: Hidey not protecting a family from villains.
- 11:36[SPEAKER_00]: No, it'll run.
- 11:38[SPEAKER_00]: Though some might confuse it with a prison like them.
- 11:40[SPEAKER_00]: No, he did a really nice job in this movie.
- 11:44[SPEAKER_00]: And like I said, I was fortunate to get a chance to meet him.
- 11:47[SPEAKER_00]: And I told him, and I think he appreciated that somebody told them they liked the movie.
- 11:52[SPEAKER_00]: He was in where he didn't just beat the hell out of everybody.
- 11:54[SPEAKER_02]: And there you go.
- 11:55[SPEAKER_02]: Now you are officially will not get laid.
- 11:57[SPEAKER_02]: We're like this from Armand.
- 11:59[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 11:59[SPEAKER_00]: He called me at Eastern.
- 12:00[SPEAKER_00]: He doesn't like this.
- 12:01[SPEAKER_00]: Let me have Eastern.
- 12:02[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 12:02[SPEAKER_02]: He's too good.
- 12:03[SPEAKER_02]: Sure he does.
- 12:05[SPEAKER_00]: He doesn't.
- 12:06[SPEAKER_00]: But he could.
- 12:06[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 12:08[SPEAKER_00]: You got my number a bit.
- 12:09[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, exactly.
- 12:10[SPEAKER_00]: Give me a call.
- 12:10[SPEAKER_02]: So this week we're reviewing the movie called Deadman's Wire, which just came out this past weekend.
- 12:15[SPEAKER_02]: And like I said, it made my top three list.
- 12:17[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, you want to go first on this one?
- 12:18[SPEAKER_02]: No, we're going to let you go first.
- 12:20[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 12:20[SPEAKER_02]: Because I think I went first last week for people moving on vacation.
- 12:23[SPEAKER_02]: And I still don't think we saw the same movie, but that's okay.
- 12:26[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 12:26[SPEAKER_02]: So Deadman's Wire, you were very interested in it because Al Pacino was in it.
- 12:30[SPEAKER_02]: Great.
- 12:30[SPEAKER_02]: And I, for all of like 20 minutes.
- 12:32[SPEAKER_02]: But anyway.
- 12:34[SPEAKER_00]: Well, here's my take.
- 12:35[SPEAKER_00]: I like the movie.
- 12:37[SPEAKER_00]: I enjoyed it.
- 12:38[SPEAKER_00]: I really like the movie.
- 12:39[SPEAKER_00]: I love Bill, and I'm going to say the scars my scars guard.
- 12:43[SPEAKER_00]: I thought he didn't a really nice job in the role, and I also thought that the guy that played Richard Hall, the decree, the decree, Montgomery.
- 12:53[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I'll be pronouncing the name, but the basically the movie is two characters for most 95% of movie.
- 12:58[SPEAKER_00]: Carrie also sent it.
- 13:00[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know why they even.
- 13:02[SPEAKER_00]: Why he went on the talk so circuit.
- 13:03[SPEAKER_00]: That's one of my comments since you brought it up.
- 13:05[SPEAKER_00]: I'm trying to figure out why Carrie Eulz or L.S.
- 13:08[SPEAKER_00]: was how they pronounce his name on the talk day show.
- 13:11[SPEAKER_02]: We were talking about him last week.
- 13:12[SPEAKER_02]: That's why I mentioned it because we talked about it last week.
- 13:14[SPEAKER_00]: He's in the movie, but not for very long.
- 13:18[SPEAKER_00]: He plays a cop that knows this guy.
- 13:21[SPEAKER_00]: And initially tries to talk him down.
- 13:23[SPEAKER_00]: And then,
- 13:25[SPEAKER_00]: It's trying to stop him in a more physical way, but that doesn't really happen.
- 13:31[SPEAKER_00]: And he's hardly in the movie, but he was on all the talk shows, talking about this movie.
- 13:36[SPEAKER_00]: And so that was interesting.
- 13:38[SPEAKER_00]: But the other two guys I thought did a really fine job.
- 13:41[SPEAKER_00]: I thought that the two lead actors did the hostage part and the guy pissed off and called America.
- 13:49[SPEAKER_02]: So Tony Cretzis is the character we're talking about.
- 13:52[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, that was planned.
- 13:53[SPEAKER_02]: Two stories, cars, cars.
- 13:54[SPEAKER_02]: Yep.
- 13:54[SPEAKER_02]: Richard Hall is the son of the guy who owned the mortgage company.
- 13:59[SPEAKER_02]: Can that be?
- 14:00[SPEAKER_02]: Can that be a hostage place by a decrement government?
- 14:04[SPEAKER_00]: Yep.
- 14:04[SPEAKER_02]: He's been out there for quite some time.
- 14:06[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, people know him.
- 14:07[SPEAKER_02]: And then also the guy who played the radio voice or the radio voice?
- 14:10[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 14:11[SPEAKER_02]: Coleman Demingo, who I talked about was it.
- 14:16[SPEAKER_02]: I think beginning December we decided to go see two movies the same weekend if you went to see Now you see me now you don't part three and then I went to see the newest version of the running man And Coleman to Mingo played the game show host right and I was like yeah There's no way he's gonna live up to Richard Dawson, but the way they did it is they split things up So Coleman was actually good.
- 14:40[SPEAKER_02]: However, he is fantastic
- 14:43[SPEAKER_02]: as the voice of the DJ.
- 14:44[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, really good.
- 14:45[SPEAKER_00]: It's got an amazing part.
- 14:47[SPEAKER_00]: I thought, again, we're on the same thing there.
- 14:50[SPEAKER_00]: I thought the pacing was really good.
- 14:52[SPEAKER_00]: There's one kind of slow part towards the middle when they're alone in the house.
- 14:56[SPEAKER_00]: the apartment, just a little bit, but everything else is great.
- 15:00[SPEAKER_00]: The soundtrack, you know, when we watched highest, lowest highest with Denzel, remember I said the soundtrack I thought really didn't fit the movie, this soundtrack fit the movie in my opinion.
- 15:13[SPEAKER_00]: And I really like this, there are a kind of subliminal real footage pictures and videos that they threw in in little places.
- 15:22[SPEAKER_00]: They didn't do it
- 15:28[SPEAKER_00]: I hate to say this, but Elpatino looks horrible.
- 15:31[SPEAKER_00]: I'm sorry, Elpatino probably should have passed on this row.
- 15:37[SPEAKER_00]: He looks like, I mean, he's got the whole time.
- 15:39[SPEAKER_00]: Never stood up.
- 15:40[SPEAKER_00]: You're boy.
- 15:41[SPEAKER_00]: He my boy for a lot of movies, but not for this one.
- 15:44[SPEAKER_00]: So I don't know.
- 15:46[SPEAKER_00]: This movie, you know, I probably give it a eight and a half.
- 15:50[SPEAKER_00]: I'd watch it again a couple things.
- 15:53[SPEAKER_00]: I thought it was reminiscent of Dog Day after noon.
- 15:56[SPEAKER_00]: which Alpatino is in and looks great in, by the way.
- 15:59[SPEAKER_00]: So the whole different, you know, you see Alpatino on dog day after noon, you see Alpatino on this, you're gonna think it's two different guys.
- 16:05[SPEAKER_00]: And somebody needs to do something with his hair, by the way.
- 16:07[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know what's going on there.
- 16:09[SPEAKER_00]: Like a garden that's totally out of control with weeds.
- 16:15[SPEAKER_00]: So I gave it a, I gave it an eight and a half.
- 16:17[SPEAKER_00]: Here's the other thing that kept,
- 16:22[SPEAKER_00]: going through my mind as I'm watching a bill, the lead actor.
- 16:27[SPEAKER_00]: If they ever decide to do the Jim Carrey story, this guy is it.
- 16:36[SPEAKER_00]: In fact, when he came on, the first thing I thought was, is Jim Carrey in this movie?
- 16:43[SPEAKER_00]: Because this guy, his face, his mannerisms, his body language, is so young, Jim Carrey, cable guy, Ace Ventura kind of stuff.
- 16:56[SPEAKER_02]: More cable guy than Ace Ventura.
- 16:57[SPEAKER_00]: More cable guy, yeah.
- 16:58[SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, I thought, wow, they ever do the Jim Carrey story.
- 17:01[SPEAKER_00]: This guy's a shoe in for young, Jim Carrey.
- 17:05[SPEAKER_00]: So kudos for that.
- 17:06[SPEAKER_00]: I love Jim Carrey, but Jim, if you're out there.
- 17:09[SPEAKER_00]: love, I love everything you've done.
- 17:11[SPEAKER_00]: I love particularly that you are a man who is not afraid to speak out and say what you believe in, and that's a hard thing to find nowadays in Hollywood, so I admire him greatly for that.
- 17:22[SPEAKER_00]: Anyway, that's my take.
- 17:24[SPEAKER_00]: I have a couple of the movies that I compared it to, if we get back to.
- 17:28[SPEAKER_00]: other true life stuff when we get to the end of this so you can go now.
- 17:31[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, so the rest of the episode after I talk about this movie and what top three list it would have mine can I guess when you get to hold on we'll get there in a second but yet then we'll talk about some other true story movies yeah we will do like a run up and then a like a best one of all kind of thing.
- 17:49[SPEAKER_02]: And you guys are always welcome to leave comments in the comment section as well.
- 17:53[SPEAKER_02]: By the way, you can catch us on YouTube, now in video form and then also we've got the podcast itself.
- 18:00[SPEAKER_02]: The audio version will be available on Apple Music and Spotify as well.
- 18:04[SPEAKER_00]: But you don't get to see us.
- 18:06[SPEAKER_00]: No, that's right.
- 18:07[SPEAKER_00]: You go to YouTube.
- 18:07[SPEAKER_00]: What would you like to see us?
- 18:09[SPEAKER_00]: Well, you know, we're the same height.
- 18:11[SPEAKER_00]: Look, not even close.
- 18:12[SPEAKER_00]: Sitting down anyway.
- 18:13[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, anyway.
- 18:14[SPEAKER_02]: Uh, and that's about where we're going to agree on things.
- 18:17[SPEAKER_02]: So this movie made my top three list.
- 18:19[SPEAKER_02]: Top three worst movies of all time.
- 18:21[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, my god.
- 18:23[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, man.
- 18:23[SPEAKER_02]: This movie was absolutely terrible.
- 18:26[SPEAKER_02]: It was so bad.
- 18:30[SPEAKER_02]: First of all, build doesn't even look like the guy.
- 18:33[SPEAKER_02]: And they show it at the very end, now this spoiler alert, sorry.
- 18:36[SPEAKER_02]: But like, you know, Marvel movies, you gotta stay till the end because they actually show you clips of like the stuff that they really have.
- 18:42[SPEAKER_00]: The actual type of clip.
- 18:43[SPEAKER_00]: Just say that.
- 18:43[SPEAKER_02]: He looks nothing like it.
- 18:44[SPEAKER_02]: You know what, you know what was exactly the same, the costumes, that's it.
- 18:51[SPEAKER_02]: Other than that, and yes, you're right.
- 18:52[SPEAKER_02]: The soundtrack was great because it was from the 70s and they stuck to it and that was great.
- 18:55[SPEAKER_02]: Awesome.
- 18:56[SPEAKER_02]: However, this movie was terrible.
- 18:59[SPEAKER_02]: It was so bad, it was so slow.
- 19:02[SPEAKER_02]: They could have done this movie.
- 19:04[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, they could have done this movie in a 30 minute or an hour long version of one of those true crime things that they do on the Hulu network that friends of mine love to watch like every single week.
- 19:15[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, did you see this true crime thing?
- 19:16[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it was terrible.
- 19:18[SPEAKER_02]: The only good thing about it was Coleman and his DJ thing, although I was saying decrement coming playing a great like prisoner kidnapped here, whatever.
- 19:29[SPEAKER_02]: And this will be the one thing we agree on with this movie.
- 19:33[SPEAKER_02]: I do agree that if they ever did a gym carry, like look at his life biography kind of thing, biopic or what, biop, whatever they call a biography.
- 19:40[SPEAKER_02]: Biopic, that's a big thing.
- 19:42[SPEAKER_02]: I do agree with that.
- 19:43[SPEAKER_02]: And the funny thing is I thought that when I saw Bill Skarsgard as it.
- 19:47[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, yeah, the very first one after I saw him and then I took it like I obviously with the makeup You couldn't really tell but I was kind of like oh, who is that I looked them up and I was like Wow, he kind of looks like Jim carry you know, so it's funny.
- 20:00[SPEAKER_02]: You're saying this was slow And I said it could have been people we met on vacation was slow Well, and that's why I'm like you didn't see the same movie because I've talked to people that have seen the movie and they also Listen to what you said about that movie last week.
- 20:14[SPEAKER_02]: They don't agree with you on that either
- 20:16[SPEAKER_02]: But yeah, this movie could have been done in one of those two one of those one hour It first of all it was to what two hours and like ten minutes 15 minutes something like that Already dean.
- 20:26[SPEAKER_02]: No, sorry.
- 20:27[SPEAKER_02]: It's an hour and 45 minutes 45 So it went 45 minutes beyond what it should have gone and to be quite honest We do they could have summed it all up in a half an hour and and you know what people agree with you It seems because I'm looking at like reviews and stuff like that.
- 20:40[SPEAKER_02]: I got a 91% of rotten tomatoes I don't know what movie people are watching
- 20:44[SPEAKER_02]: This was terrible.
- 20:46[SPEAKER_02]: I'm glad I paid five bucks for it.
- 20:48[SPEAKER_02]: And so that's a cheapy night.
- 20:50[SPEAKER_02]: Like the Tuesday, Tuesday, Tuesday, which, by the way, is a great time to see a movie.
- 20:52[SPEAKER_02]: I'll put them, sure.
- 20:53[SPEAKER_00]: Now, the thing that says a couple of theaters to do that.
- 20:56[SPEAKER_02]: Well, a lot of theaters.
- 20:57[SPEAKER_02]: There's another one that does a Tuesday and Wednesday as well too.
- 21:00[SPEAKER_02]: AMC does Tuesday and Wednesday nights as for the cheapy night.
- 21:03[SPEAKER_02]: I didn't know that.
- 21:04[SPEAKER_02]: But yeah, this is one of those movies that I will never watch again.
- 21:07[SPEAKER_02]: Wow.
- 21:08[SPEAKER_02]: It just, it moved way too slow.
- 21:10[SPEAKER_02]: And like, it just, it was so predictable.
- 21:14[SPEAKER_02]: And I kept saying to myself was anything but predicted.
- 21:17[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, it was totally predictable.
- 21:19[SPEAKER_00]: Here's the thing.
- 21:20[SPEAKER_00]: Didn't you have to sense that it's somewhere near the end of the movie they're going to take them out.
- 21:24[SPEAKER_00]: First of all, I thought that was a surprise.
- 21:27[SPEAKER_02]: There's only, there's only one reason why they didn't take them out.
- 21:30[SPEAKER_02]: And that's because they didn't know what to do with the wiring mechanism.
- 21:33[SPEAKER_02]: Because this is the 70s, remember?
- 21:34[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 21:35[SPEAKER_02]: And this is the one of the conversations I had with a friend of mine at work today, who also saw the movie over the weekend.
- 21:41[SPEAKER_02]: And he and I both said, yeah, could have been done in like a half an hour at the most.
- 21:44[SPEAKER_02]: It was way too long.
- 21:46[SPEAKER_02]: And what he said was he said the only he said think about what it was like in the 70s and how they reacted to hostage situations back then.
- 21:53[SPEAKER_02]: So we have to look at this through the lens of that.
- 21:56[SPEAKER_02]: And yeah, that's why they waited.
- 21:58[SPEAKER_02]: Sorry, spoiler alert.
- 22:00[SPEAKER_02]: They waited until the very end to do something But that was after the hostage was already taken care of which if you've seen a crime movie and a hostage situation movie You know that that's what the cops are gonna do.
- 22:08[SPEAKER_02]: They isolate the situation and try to make sure that the hostage walks away with their life intact before they do anything else That's just the way they do things and all this guy want to do is be in the middle of like a media thing and whatever They could have taken them out.
- 22:20[SPEAKER_02]: They was literally at one point.
- 22:22[SPEAKER_02]: There was 20 people around him
- 22:24[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but they couldn't take him out as long as he had the shotgun wire to the guy there was 20 people around him They would all acted in unison.
- 22:31[SPEAKER_02]: They could take him out like that and everything would have been fun And the guy would have had his head blown on Not if they were not in that okay spoiler alert.
- 22:39[SPEAKER_02]: There's a press conference in it in the middle of that press conference They totally could have taken him out
- 22:44[SPEAKER_02]: Especially the way they had everybody set up and everything like that, don't forget he had a wire around his neck too.
- 22:48[SPEAKER_00]: So they stole them, it's connected to the trick.
- 22:52[SPEAKER_02]: Totally understand what a dead man's wire is.
- 22:54[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 22:54[SPEAKER_02]: One goes down, that goes off, but that's the thing, if he goes down.
- 22:59[SPEAKER_02]: Right.
- 23:00[SPEAKER_02]: They could have stopped him from going down in the first place to get a half Nelson behind that dude.
- 23:03[SPEAKER_02]: He ain't going nowhere And he's done and it's finger comes off the trigger and by the Bing by the bang done and it wasn't the thing sorry The trigger.
- 23:11[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm giving this movie a three a three a three.
- 23:13[SPEAKER_00]: Yes You haven't given anything a three.
- 23:16[SPEAKER_00]: I know Okay, don't listen to Chris on this one.
- 23:19[SPEAKER_00]: No listen to me go see the movie and judge it for yourself
- 23:22[SPEAKER_02]: wait wait till it comes out on like Netflix because you pay for that monthly anyway it's going to Tuesday and pay five bucks no no don't it's terrible it's not terrible it is so bad and you wanted to see it because it's okay here's the funny thing when we were talking about it last week and you were like oh I want to see it cuz Al Pacino said it I watch the trailer
- 23:41[SPEAKER_02]: And when I saw who Al Pacino was, I'm like, he's in there for 20 minutes at the most.
- 23:46[SPEAKER_00]: I didn't know that.
- 23:46[SPEAKER_02]: And I called it.
- 23:48[SPEAKER_02]: Right.
- 23:49[SPEAKER_02]: And I'm like, so we're going to go see this.
- 23:50[SPEAKER_00]: So, because I wanted to see it because Cariolis or Eulos, Eulos is talk shows.
- 23:56[SPEAKER_02]: No, he was.
- 23:57[SPEAKER_02]: You didn't say that last week.
- 23:58[SPEAKER_02]: That's all I'm saying.
- 23:58[SPEAKER_00]: He was on all these talk shows talking about this movie.
- 24:01[SPEAKER_00]: I'm sure he was.
- 24:02[SPEAKER_00]: Now, the bill was not.
- 24:03[SPEAKER_00]: I never saw Bill on a talk show because Cari was all over the place.
- 24:06[SPEAKER_02]: Because Bill knows better.
- 24:08[SPEAKER_00]: So, you know, being just in here with Bill things.
- 24:10[SPEAKER_00]: I will see Bill.
- 24:12[SPEAKER_00]: They'll find some guys.
- 24:13[SPEAKER_00]: Gosh, guys.
- 24:14[SPEAKER_00]: If you're watching.
- 24:15[SPEAKER_00]: Scars.
- 24:16[SPEAKER_00]: Scars.
- 24:16[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 24:17[SPEAKER_02]: I thought it was a good movie.
- 24:18[SPEAKER_02]: We also talked about a couple other movies last week, and what of them was called the RIP, which is available on Netflix.
- 24:23[SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
- 24:24[SPEAKER_02]: I watched that this week.
- 24:25[SPEAKER_02]: Did you?
- 24:26[SPEAKER_02]: But RIP is 12,000 times better than Deadman's wife.
- 24:31[SPEAKER_00]: So, that's what I'm on, said, too.
- 24:32[SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
- 24:32[SPEAKER_00]: It is an interview.
- 24:33[SPEAKER_02]: Because it's a great movie.
- 24:35[SPEAKER_02]: You don't know where it's going and even when you think you know where it's going You still don't know.
- 24:39[SPEAKER_02]: See I thought this was okay.
- 24:40[SPEAKER_02]: I thought this was a good movie.
- 24:41[SPEAKER_02]: That's That's me, but I'm talking about the rip.
- 24:44[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not talking about them.
- 24:44[SPEAKER_00]: That's a movie.
- 24:45[SPEAKER_00]: Deadman's where I watched the rip.
- 24:47[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to watch the rip.
- 24:47[SPEAKER_00]: You should have heard it was a good movie.
- 24:48[SPEAKER_02]: It's really good.
- 24:49[SPEAKER_02]: And Ben Affleck is in it.
- 24:50[SPEAKER_02]: Matt Damon and yes, they have aged and, you know, not a good Ben Affleck fan, but I'm going to watch it for you But they are great together as a combination.
- 24:58[SPEAKER_02]: They always have been even in dead poets society.
- 25:00[SPEAKER_02]: I remember them.
- 25:02[SPEAKER_02]: and they were good in this movie.
- 25:03[SPEAKER_02]: Now, here's the thing.
- 25:04[SPEAKER_02]: It's, you know, you have to, it's a tongue-and-cheat kind of movie.
- 25:07[SPEAKER_02]: You have to take it as that because the rip is basically, if you do not rip isn't in like the world of police, because I didn't until I saw this movie.
- 25:15[SPEAKER_02]: So what a rip is, what a rip is, it's a tip about a house that has a ton of money.
- 25:20[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, no.
- 25:21[SPEAKER_02]: So they call it a rip, because that's the rip, they're pulling the money out of there.
- 25:24[SPEAKER_02]: So they're ripping the money out of the house
- 25:26[SPEAKER_02]: I get them and it's a great film you don't know what's coming next you don't know or some of it and it's it was way more entertaining.
- 25:34[SPEAKER_02]: I give the rip actually like a seven.
- 25:36[SPEAKER_00]: Wow.
- 25:37[SPEAKER_02]: It was that good.
- 25:38[SPEAKER_02]: And there are some great unknowns in it.
- 25:40[SPEAKER_02]: Like I said, you know, the Damon and an afflick earned it.
- 25:42[SPEAKER_02]: So they're great as well, too.
- 25:44[SPEAKER_02]: Uh, but it's just, you can make me lower my rating on night and day.
- 25:49[SPEAKER_02]: You know, we, we are entitled to our own opinions, whether they're right or wrong.
- 25:54[SPEAKER_02]: We have just grown, and I think you're wrong.
- 25:56[SPEAKER_02]: So there we go.
- 25:57[SPEAKER_02]: Just like I think you're wrong about Michael Keaton and Batman being the worst one.
- 26:00[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm like, we're going to go back to that.
- 26:02[SPEAKER_00]: Well, that was the worst man ever.
- 26:05[SPEAKER_00]: worse than the comments please on all of those who you don't think worse could have been Robin Williams as Batman I think I'm robin Williams probably would have been a better robin oh could have been a good robin or a good joker oh good joker yeah he wouldn't maybe a good two-face I don't know about two-face I think a joker I think it'd be maybe ridler could have been a good ridler although Jim Carrey did a great ridler
- 26:28[SPEAKER_02]: Jim Carey was good.
- 26:30[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think Robin would have made a good ridler.
- 26:32[SPEAKER_02]: I think that's a better Joker.
- 26:34[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, but you can't really I mean heat ledgers Joker is great Oh, so is so is number one.
- 26:41[SPEAKER_00]: So is jacquist as well.
- 26:42[SPEAKER_00]: Listen with number one for me.
- 26:44[SPEAKER_00]: Well, actually if you go back to the original Batman season Romero season Romero was you original joke and then the Joker one
- 26:52[SPEAKER_00]: No, he was one.
- 26:53[SPEAKER_00]: He's terrible.
- 26:54[SPEAKER_00]: And then Jack Nicholson came in second in my book, but then when Heath Ledger did it, both of them drop.
- 27:02[SPEAKER_00]: Heath Ledger.
- 27:03[SPEAKER_00]: Heath Ledger just killed it.
- 27:04[SPEAKER_02]: Heath Ledger probably played the most the best all around Joker period.
- 27:08[SPEAKER_00]: He played the most authentic maniacal criminal.
- 27:11[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I think I've ever seen played in film.
- 27:14[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, I think.
- 27:16[SPEAKER_02]: And I think Jack, there was some played the great gangster style that comes like the old style gangster that Joker was technically, but he also played enough of the hystericalness.
- 27:24[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 27:25[SPEAKER_02]: And his or her marrow was just a can't be Joker.
- 27:27[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 27:27[SPEAKER_02]: But that's okay.
- 27:27[SPEAKER_02]: That's okay.
- 27:28[SPEAKER_02]: That's okay.
- 27:28[SPEAKER_02]: Because that show was can't be.
- 27:29[SPEAKER_02]: So yeah, absolutely.
- 27:30[SPEAKER_00]: Show that can't be.
- 27:31[SPEAKER_02]: So there you go.
- 27:32[SPEAKER_02]: So anyway, that's the review of dead men's wilder.
- 27:35[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 27:35[SPEAKER_02]: Watch the rip instead.
- 27:36[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 27:40[SPEAKER_02]: So, anyway, again, like I said, we're not film critics, we're not everybody, we're just, you know, things we watch and things of that nature.
- 27:46[SPEAKER_02]: Stuff we saw, like I said, he saw Al Pacino and, you know, you know, you know how that works.
- 27:51[SPEAKER_02]: You see your favorite actor and you're like, oh my god, my favorite.
- 27:54[SPEAKER_00]: I never said he was my favorite.
- 27:55[SPEAKER_02]: And he said he was one of your favorite.
- 27:57[SPEAKER_02]: I think he's, I like him.
- 27:58[SPEAKER_02]: Let's see with my favorite now now we're now we're done playing it because I gave it a bad review and my favorite you're a little hurt.
- 28:04[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, I got a lot of Tracy's my probably my favorite.
- 28:07[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, all right.
- 28:08[SPEAKER_02]: Then Ratt's tiger would get a what you know what I think we need to do is one of the next episodes.
- 28:12[SPEAKER_02]: I think we need to do our favorite actor.
- 28:13[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, I think we'll do that regardless of the movie that we've agreed.
- 28:16[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, well, we're gonna we're gonna do especially because the Oscars are coming up I think next episode will start that.
- 28:21[SPEAKER_02]: I think we'll go favorite actors then we'll go through all those categories Like for the next couple of years because what the Oscars are like in March, I think yep, I think so so I think so we'll do for the next couple Okay, so there we go
- 28:31[SPEAKER_02]: So I put on we'd like to talk about movies that relate to the movie that we reviewed and so we're going to do some movies based on true stories.
- 28:39[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I let you go first for Deadman's Wire.
- 28:41[SPEAKER_02]: So I'm going to go first and I get to my runner up.
- 28:45[SPEAKER_02]: Um, and this is this is I don't saving private Ryan is my runner up.
- 28:51[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, I like that.
- 28:52[SPEAKER_02]: Just because I so for me I was a kid when that movie came like I was 92.
- 28:57[SPEAKER_02]: I think it's when the movie came out something like that 94 and so I was a kid So I was into like horror and graphic and violence and all that kind of stuff and you know within the first five minutes somebody's head gets blown off Yeah, this is awesome
- 29:09[SPEAKER_02]: So, but that's not why I like the movie.
- 29:11[SPEAKER_02]: It is a great movie all around time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and
- 29:35[SPEAKER_00]: It's about a gangster guy that testifies on the mob.
- 29:39[SPEAKER_00]: Charles Bronson plays the main character.
- 29:42[SPEAKER_00]: There's a lot of other big-name character actors in there, and I can't think of him off the top of my head.
- 29:46[SPEAKER_00]: But it's a good movie.
- 29:47[SPEAKER_00]: It's a good mob movie where a guy turns on the mob and is protected, obviously, by the feds and stuff.
- 29:54[SPEAKER_00]: So if you have never seen it, go check it out.
- 29:56[SPEAKER_00]: It's a good movie.
- 29:57[SPEAKER_00]: It's an older movie, probably seven these, seven these eighties.
- 30:01[SPEAKER_02]: Well, Charles Bronson, for sure,
- 30:04[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 30:05[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 30:06[SPEAKER_02]: And wasn't that that's like a rogue cop kind of thing to a vigilante.
- 30:09[SPEAKER_00]: Well, he's a vigilante and death wish.
- 30:11[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 30:11[SPEAKER_00]: If you want to see a really good Charles Bronson movie, then you got to see the movie called, uh, there we go.
- 30:21[SPEAKER_02]: I got to help him out again.
- 30:24[SPEAKER_00]: I just, uh, oh, my god.
- 30:26[SPEAKER_02]: I'm killing my small.
- 30:28[SPEAKER_00]: Well, there's, there's a cowboy movie that's pretty good.
- 30:30[SPEAKER_00]: God, um,
- 30:33[SPEAKER_00]: three to midnight.
- 30:34[SPEAKER_02]: He's a two for two already.
- 30:36[SPEAKER_00]: I know, but this one is call, he's a water melon.
- 30:41[SPEAKER_00]: He's has a watermelon farm.
- 30:43[SPEAKER_00]: And why can't I think of the name of it?
- 30:47[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I'm sorry.
- 30:48[SPEAKER_02]: How much Charles Manson, Charles Johnson, not my thing.
- 30:52[SPEAKER_02]: I saw a dash with death wish one when I was a kid and my mom would let me watch.
- 30:57[SPEAKER_02]: My mom wouldn't let me watch anything.
- 30:59[SPEAKER_02]: I'll
- 31:02[SPEAKER_02]: No, I'm just gonna be I mean, I'm throwing knives here at like I'm throwing darts at a dartboardin because I have no idea which one it is Okay, anyway, while you try to figure out what that movie is I'm gonna give you my favorite All true story movie of all time most favorite one and the problem is is that I actually have two Both of them start with the word American
- 31:22[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 31:23[SPEAKER_02]: One is American gangster.
- 31:25[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 31:25[SPEAKER_02]: The other one is American hustle.
- 31:28[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, yeah, both good.
- 31:29[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, both the movies.
- 31:30[SPEAKER_00]: Both absolutely amazing movies.
- 31:31[SPEAKER_02]: American hustle, newer.
- 31:34[SPEAKER_02]: Of course, starring Brad the Cooper Christian Bale, Jennifer Lawrence is in here.
- 31:37[SPEAKER_02]: Jeremy Renner is in it as well.
- 31:38[SPEAKER_02]: And it's just an all around.
- 31:40[SPEAKER_02]: I think it's just an all around great movie.
- 31:43[SPEAKER_02]: And such an interesting like twist in the plot.
- 31:46[SPEAKER_02]: So to speak.
- 31:47[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I like that one.
- 31:48[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 31:48[SPEAKER_02]: And then, of course, American gangster, I remember when that came out, I think that was the first one that I bought like the collector's edition daily before because I wanted to see all the extra like background footage and all the other history stuff that they did.
- 32:00[SPEAKER_02]: Of course, that features Dungeon Washington and Russell Crowe.
- 32:03[SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
- 32:04[SPEAKER_02]: And it's loosely based on the criminal career of Frank Lucas from Lagrange, North Carolina.
- 32:11[SPEAKER_02]: Not to be confused with the Grand Jill and Wayne.
- 32:13[SPEAKER_02]: He's not from a family.
- 32:14[SPEAKER_00]: Nicely filmed a superior piece pretty much.
- 32:16[SPEAKER_00]: And it's really nicely filmed.
- 32:18[SPEAKER_00]: And his mom is played by, she's a terrific actor.
- 32:24[SPEAKER_00]: She's been around for a long time.
- 32:26[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm blanking on her name, too.
- 32:28[SPEAKER_00]: Ruby, Ruby D. Ruby D. And man, she plays the mother role beautifully.
- 32:34[SPEAKER_00]: Anytime you can get it with slapping Denzel, and movie, you've done something good.
- 32:39[SPEAKER_00]: That should have been an Oscar right there.
- 32:42[SPEAKER_00]: He just slapped him, slapped him.
- 32:44[SPEAKER_02]: So did you figure out the Charles Bonsonman?
- 32:46[SPEAKER_00]: I did.
- 32:46[SPEAKER_00]: Mr.
- 32:46[SPEAKER_00]: Majestic.
- 32:48[SPEAKER_00]: Great movie.
- 32:49[SPEAKER_00]: Really good movie.
- 32:50[SPEAKER_00]: It is kind of, it's actually kind of funny in some places.
- 32:54[SPEAKER_00]: But it's a really good, feel good.
- 32:58[SPEAKER_00]: Nice guy wins movie against a really bad bad guy.
- 33:04[SPEAKER_00]: And, you know, like I said, there's some funny lines in there that between him and the Lieutenant, I give you one.
- 33:12[SPEAKER_00]: He says, there's a mobster that's after the Charles Bronson character and the Lieutenant wants to catch him for another killing and he's so Charles Bronson says something like, so you're using me as bait.
- 33:28[SPEAKER_00]: And he said, well, we don't want to call it bait.
- 33:30[SPEAKER_00]: And he says, what if he kills me?
- 33:32[SPEAKER_00]: And the lieutenant says, then we'll arrest him for both murders.
- 33:35[SPEAKER_00]: So it's some stuff like that.
- 33:37[SPEAKER_00]: It's a good movie, you're like it.
- 33:39[SPEAKER_00]: All right, so my, can I do my top?
- 33:45[SPEAKER_02]: The microphone and the camera are all yours.
- 33:48[SPEAKER_00]: Then I do my alternate?
- 33:50[SPEAKER_00]: You did.
- 33:51[SPEAKER_00]: OK.
- 33:51[SPEAKER_00]: So my top true life movie is good fellas.
- 33:55[SPEAKER_00]: I knew you were going to go there.
- 33:57[SPEAKER_00]: I just, it's just a well done movie.
- 33:59[SPEAKER_01]: The narrator is going to go there.
- 34:00[SPEAKER_00]: There's a lot of, like, you have no idea that he's going to step off the stand and finish narrating the movie at the end.
- 34:08[SPEAKER_00]: And I think all the characters in there were well cast.
- 34:12[SPEAKER_00]: You know, I really think the characters, well, I think it showed a real true life of how mobsters at that level go to prison, and they really kind of run the prison.
- 34:23[SPEAKER_00]: I think they should, I think that's still happening today.
- 34:25[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I won't say who it is, but there's certainly an example you could pull out of today's headlines, where that's happening right now, and I think this movie depicts it really well.
- 34:36[SPEAKER_00]: And also depicts, uh, the, uh,
- 34:39[SPEAKER_00]: What you grow through as a guy who is turning on a group of guys that he basically admire in respects and wanted to be one, but then turns around and goes against them.
- 34:53[SPEAKER_00]: So I think that's a good one, and it's well-written, well-directed, beautifully filmed, beautifully acted, just a fast-paced, you know, a lot of quick, quick, quick vignettes in that movie.
- 35:08[SPEAKER_00]: There's a couple different storylines going on, but they all work really well together.
- 35:11[SPEAKER_00]: So that's my number one true story, movie.
- 35:15[SPEAKER_00]: And there you have a focus.
- 35:15[SPEAKER_02]: And of course, if you have movies, the true story, true crime movie, or true story, we're doing really that true crime.
- 35:22[SPEAKER_02]: Although it seems like we focused more on the true crime than we did on anything else.
- 35:25[SPEAKER_02]: But that's, again, like I said, this is no BL end all.
- 35:29[SPEAKER_02]: This is just our favorites.
- 35:30[SPEAKER_02]: You probably have them as well.
- 35:31[SPEAKER_02]: Of course, you can always comment in the comment section.
- 35:34[SPEAKER_02]: If we haven't watched them, watch them.
- 35:35[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, exactly.
- 35:36[SPEAKER_02]: We haven't watched them.
- 35:36[SPEAKER_02]: We will definitely watch them.
- 35:37[SPEAKER_02]: Because that's just what it shows all about.
- 35:40[SPEAKER_02]: It's just trying to get you to watch stuff that, you know, especially, you know, from both of our angles, we've been around for a little bit.
- 35:45[SPEAKER_02]: So we know some of the older movies, maybe you haven't gotten that far, and I don't know much of the older ones.
- 35:50[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, probably.
- 35:50[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it was trying to be nice, but you were a little older.
- 35:52[SPEAKER_02]: You started, so here we go.
- 35:54[SPEAKER_02]: But anyway, it's not a black and white.
- 35:56[SPEAKER_02]: But you know, like I said, when we start a film in this, we actually put together like our top favorite movies of all time.
- 36:04[SPEAKER_02]: And you had a couple you had a lot of movies on your list that I hadn't seen right and African Queen was one of them Correct now I saw the colorized version.
- 36:12[SPEAKER_02]: You were not happy with that you said I need to sit in black and white And I like I'm an African queen.
- 36:17[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, yeah.
- 36:17[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, you don't want to colorize
- 36:19[SPEAKER_00]: I don't see how it takes away from anything.
- 36:21[SPEAKER_00]: It does, it just does.
- 36:22[SPEAKER_00]: Well, you're not a purist, I'm a purist, you know?
- 36:24[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, well, anyway.
- 36:25[SPEAKER_00]: Like in white.
- 36:26[SPEAKER_00]: That's why he likes it.
- 36:27[SPEAKER_00]: There's something you can't colorize.
- 36:28[SPEAKER_00]: Wonderful life can't colorize.
- 36:30[SPEAKER_00]: See, I've seen both versions.
- 36:31[SPEAKER_00]: You can't colorize.
- 36:32[SPEAKER_02]: I've seen both versions of wonderful life.
- 36:33[SPEAKER_02]: And I don't colorize non-colorize.
- 36:35[SPEAKER_02]: It doesn't make a difference to me.
- 36:36[SPEAKER_00]: It's the same room.
- 36:37[SPEAKER_00]: Would you much young Frank is signing for his colorize?
- 36:39[SPEAKER_00]: It would just take away from the home movie.
- 36:41[SPEAKER_00]: I totally would.
- 36:42[SPEAKER_00]: I want to know what color he is.
- 36:44[SPEAKER_00]: You know, you think you know somebody?
- 36:46[SPEAKER_00]: You work with them.
- 36:47[SPEAKER_00]: And then now you find this stuff out.
- 36:54[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, see, and this is why we need to pull out the pez for him.
- 37:00[SPEAKER_02]: So the story behind that is I have a little pez as much of this guy.
- 37:03[SPEAKER_02]: It's a movie popcorn thing.
- 37:05[SPEAKER_02]: And when he goes down these tie raids, that's when we pull out the pez.
- 37:08[SPEAKER_02]: That's tie raids.
- 37:08[SPEAKER_02]: yes anyway so anyway that's going to do it for this episode sticker on next week of course will ever review mercy uh and we're going to talk about uh best who we who are favorite best actors are next week next week yeah for sure uh and that'll be the episode and until next week save us some popcorn some cheesy pop
