- 0:10Speaker 2: The World's a Vigeon podcast.
- 0:16Speaker 1: Welcome to Patriots Unfiltered. During the Brady years, we've watched
- 0:22Speaker 1: a preseason game. Boy, our twos and threes aren't as
- 0:24Speaker 1: good as their twos and threes. Right, we said that
- 0:27Speaker 1: a lot.
- 0:27Speaker 3: I'm sure I did.
- 0:28Speaker 1: I don't know we did.
- 0:29Speaker 3: I don't really I haven't really cared about the preseason
- 0:32Speaker 3: a a lot.
- 0:32Speaker 1: Okay, that's my point.
- 0:33Speaker 4: The team I think that's gonna win the Super Bowl
- 0:35Speaker 4: is like a ninety eight. The team that they think
- 0:37Speaker 4: are the worst in the league are like a seventy.
- 0:39Speaker 4: You know, they're kind of nice about it.
- 0:41Speaker 5: That's Madden.
- 0:41Speaker 4: There, there's your Maden minute.
- 0:43Speaker 6: My son kills me in madd and it's so frustrated,
- 0:45Speaker 6: that's embarrassing and kills me. I'm getting off cocky and
- 0:47Speaker 6: I'm like, oh, I'm gonna hit you with the blitz
- 0:48Speaker 6: right here, and he's just like, man touchdown.
- 0:50Speaker 7: Evan's very smart. Obviously, he knows a lawn. Thank You's
- 0:53Speaker 7: very good within his own lane.
- 0:55Speaker 3: Thank you.
- 0:55Speaker 8: That being said, Evan is a little bit of a
- 0:57Speaker 8: no at all. Now they still have a clutch, you said, yeah,
- 1:02Speaker 8: but they have a paddle shift tattle shifting cars. You
- 1:05Speaker 8: don't use the clutch and a pattleship that he.
- 1:08Speaker 1: Wow, thanks me boom wait. I'm sweet kid. Rights. It
- 1:12Speaker 1: haven't heard from him in a long time. Melvin and Tennessee.
- 1:15Speaker 1: I spent the summer studying the English language so that
- 1:18Speaker 1: I can sound smarter. So far, I've learned three new words.
- 1:21Speaker 1: I don't know what those words are though yet. Anyway,
- 1:24Speaker 1: this is Patriots Unfiltered, presented by Toyota's official website for
- 1:28Speaker 1: deals by a Toyota dot com. All right, welcome to
- 1:34Speaker 1: Patriots Unfiltered. It is Thursday here at j Let's Stadium,
- 1:38Speaker 1: and we've got a lot to talk about, starting with
- 1:40Speaker 1: all the transactions that have happened over the last couple
- 1:43Speaker 1: of days, but also today the NFL and the Patriots
- 1:47Speaker 1: revealed the rivalries jerseys. I guess there's eight teams that'll
- 1:51Speaker 1: be wearing rivalry jerseys this year. Patriots are one of them.
- 1:55Speaker 1: They'll be wearing them against the Jets when they play
- 1:58Speaker 1: that game in November. And we've got our hands on
- 2:01Speaker 1: some of the swag, including the actual jersey and helmet
- 2:04Speaker 1: and some of the sideline gear, and we'll get into
- 2:07Speaker 1: that a little later in the show. Mike will actually uh,
- 2:10Speaker 1: he'll uh.
- 2:11Speaker 5: Yeah, I thought we were getting a player.
- 2:13Speaker 6: That was going to come in here and you're playing
- 2:16Speaker 6: I'm not a player.
- 2:17Speaker 1: But yeah, yeah, yeah, I just did a take over there.
- 2:25Speaker 3: Okay, that was one of the most genuinely funny things
- 2:30Speaker 3: you've ever said.
- 2:32Speaker 1: Say it again.
- 2:33Speaker 3: True people were talking.
- 2:37Speaker 1: It's a joke, all right. So we're gonna we've got
- 2:42Speaker 1: our hands on this rivalry stuff and we're gonna look
- 2:44Speaker 1: up close and get into all the details.
- 2:48Speaker 9: Uh.
- 2:48Speaker 1: I know people have opinions on it, like, you know,
- 2:51Speaker 1: should have been read, should have been I like it.
- 2:54Speaker 1: I happen to like it, and we're going to get
- 2:56Speaker 1: into that. But first, it's Evan, Paul, Alex Dude, myself,
- 3:00Speaker 1: matt Na Booth, and let's talk about the cuts and
- 3:05Speaker 1: transactions that have transpired, because they're coming fast and furious.
- 3:08Speaker 1: Who wants to lead it off?
- 3:10Speaker 5: Oh my lord, I start.
- 3:13Speaker 1: I want to go all the way back to Tuesday,
- 3:15Speaker 1: or well since since our last I know you talked
- 3:18Speaker 1: a lot about it on Catch two. Yes, did.
- 3:20Speaker 4: We got and we got to the bottom of it.
- 3:22Speaker 4: Of course, talked a lot about eight receivers for twenty
- 3:25Speaker 4: minutes and then now I only have six receivers, you know,
- 3:27Speaker 4: things like.
- 3:28Speaker 6: A good place to start, you know, it's just kid's
- 3:29Speaker 6: initial like eight. And now Kendrick Bourne is gone, and
- 3:32Speaker 6: Javon Baker's a little bit in limbo reports that he
- 3:35Speaker 6: might want to come back for the practice squad.
- 3:37Speaker 5: I don't know if I really believe it.
- 3:39Speaker 6: Evan was just out of practice though, yeah, I was.
- 3:41Speaker 4: Just out of practice. And they do have a couple
- 3:44Speaker 4: of new faces. It seems like on the practice squad,
- 3:47Speaker 4: maybe some practice squad movement. I we'll find out later today,
- 3:51Speaker 4: but no Christian Gonzales still in street clothes. He's there
- 3:55Speaker 4: physically but not practicing. And today no Anthony Jennings, which
- 4:00Speaker 4: put up some intennas about what situation is with that.
- 4:04Speaker 4: So well, we'll see what happens with that.
- 4:06Speaker 1: But already happen.
- 4:08Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, but Gonzalez continues to come out to practice
- 4:13Speaker 4: in street clothes, watch practice.
- 4:16Speaker 6: Uh, we can worry, worried forever small get him.
- 4:23Speaker 3: It's not about week one. I'm not concerned. I'm concerned
- 4:26Speaker 3: that this is a significant hamstring injury and those linger.
- 4:30Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm giving give him every day he can, you
- 4:33Speaker 1: can give him with a hamstring.
- 4:34Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, I'm I. I wasn't concerned about it. I
- 4:38Speaker 4: was very adamant about that. But him not being back
- 4:41Speaker 4: out there for these two practices is small sea concerned,
- 4:44Speaker 4: I think is a little bit a good way to
- 4:46Speaker 4: describe it, because now they're behind closed doors. We're not
- 4:49Speaker 4: watching practice anymore at this point. So I thought this
- 4:53Speaker 4: would be maybe a target date for him to return
- 4:56Speaker 4: once the media can't watch him running around and stuff
- 4:59Speaker 4: like that and have all their opinions on how he looks.
- 5:02Speaker 4: And now we haven't been out there the last two
- 5:04Speaker 4: days and he has not been particed.
- 5:06Speaker 1: But what you're seeing today is what we'll see for
- 5:08Speaker 1: the rest of the season in terms of practice.
- 5:10Speaker 3: Yes, So I figured that's why he thought Bellas would
- 5:13Speaker 3: be back, right.
- 5:15Speaker 4: I figured what we had Monday's practice was the last
- 5:18Speaker 4: one that was open to the media, and then I
- 5:20Speaker 4: kind of thought, of, you know, that's what Bill would
- 5:22Speaker 4: have done. He would have said, oh, like you want
- 5:24Speaker 4: to see Gonzales, you can watch them stretch, you know.
- 5:27Speaker 4: So I think that.
- 5:30Speaker 3: Paul said it small sea concern. Yeah, yeah, it becomes
- 5:32Speaker 3: a capital scene next Wednesday.
- 5:34Speaker 6: Yeah, he's on the report not practice.
- 5:37Speaker 10: If he did.
- 5:38Speaker 3: If he doesn't practice next Wednesday, I would worry about
- 5:41Speaker 3: week one.
- 5:41Speaker 1: Now I'm worried.
- 5:42Speaker 3: Yeah, but I get I just might worry is more
- 5:45Speaker 3: about the opener, like because if it's a game or whatever,
- 5:49Speaker 3: you know, that's if you needed more time. But with
- 5:52Speaker 3: soft tissue injuries for an elite athlete is a concern
- 5:56Speaker 3: for me because he relies on he needs to have
- 5:58Speaker 3: bad athleticism to be Gonzales.
- 6:01Speaker 6: I totally understand twitch your long term outlook and that's
- 6:05Speaker 6: how you're looking through it. I'd still find it just
- 6:07Speaker 6: a little disappointing that we got a couple of days
- 6:09Speaker 6: of him in practice and then he basically missed all
- 6:11Speaker 6: this training camp.
- 6:12Speaker 5: It's just not ideal.
- 6:14Speaker 6: And we know how Mike Rabel in the past has
- 6:16Speaker 6: kind of felt about soft tissue injuries. And I was
- 6:20Speaker 6: on the boat with everybody else kind of like, all right,
- 6:22Speaker 6: they're gonna just manage him and then once it gets
- 6:24Speaker 6: dound the nitty gritty, he'll be back.
- 6:25Speaker 1: You know what. It reminds me of Randy Moss.
- 6:29Speaker 3: There's been a lot of talk about that then, Yeah.
- 6:32Speaker 1: Yeah, all right. Bourne is interesting because there were rumors
- 6:37Speaker 1: that we were talking to Minnesota and then all of
- 6:40Speaker 1: a sudden, Minnesota signed Adam Thalen, and I think they
- 6:44Speaker 1: were looking at both guys. This is just a speculation.
- 6:48Speaker 1: They were looking at both guys, and Faling was the
- 6:51Speaker 1: easiest one because you didn't have to give up anything
- 6:53Speaker 1: for him.
- 6:54Speaker 3: Well, they traded for Falin instead of trading for Born.
- 6:56Speaker 1: Yeah, but very little right like that.
- 6:58Speaker 3: Some pick swaps sure arey similar.
- 7:00Speaker 1: But I don't know what the Patriots are asking for.
- 7:02Speaker 3: Yeah, I think it's probably more to do with money. Yeah,
- 7:06Speaker 3: but I don't to you a point, we're just speculating, right, Yeah.
- 7:10Speaker 4: Unfamiliarity obviously with Minnesota and the Vikings, but it seemed
- 7:14Speaker 4: like they instead this is happening more and more. Instead
- 7:17Speaker 4: of acquiring picks, you actually just move up within the
- 7:21Speaker 4: same draft, So like you trade your own seventh for
- 7:25Speaker 4: their fifth. Yeah, so you just like move up like
- 7:28Speaker 4: the same way, the same trade the Patriots did for
- 7:30Speaker 4: Joe Milton, right where you're just instead of getting adding
- 7:33Speaker 4: a pick, you're actually just moving up like two rounds
- 7:36Speaker 4: day three pick swaps.
- 7:37Speaker 1: And so then reportedly again he was asked to be
- 7:41Speaker 1: released and the Patriots accommodated.
- 7:44Speaker 3: Well, he he says he asked to be released, right.
- 7:47Speaker 3: Rabel had a different take on that, did say, it's
- 7:51Speaker 3: kind of like your girlfriend after you break up and
- 7:53Speaker 3: you say, oh, yeah, I know, I broke.
- 7:54Speaker 1: Up with her too, I break up with you.
- 7:59Speaker 3: Correct, George, very well, very well done. Yeah, So it
- 8:03Speaker 3: all depends on who you believe.
- 8:04Speaker 1: Yeah, either way, it was mutual. Yet either way, when
- 8:10Speaker 1: we saw eight receivers on the roster after cut day,
- 8:13Speaker 1: we were like, really.
- 8:14Speaker 3: Well, we knew they weren't going to have eight, but it
- 8:18Speaker 3: was jarring to see eight.
- 8:19Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 8:20Speaker 4: Yeah, seemed like I kind of thought that they were
- 8:23Speaker 4: maybe going to put Born on IR to start the year,
- 8:26Speaker 4: and they ended up not using the second IR return spot.
- 8:29Speaker 4: They only used one on Jelani TV, So they ended
- 8:32Speaker 4: up kind of, you know, losing that opportunity there to
- 8:36Speaker 4: do it. And I think it's because they were probably
- 8:39Speaker 4: thought they were going to be trading Born. I think
- 8:42Speaker 4: they thought they had traction on a trade for Kendrick Bourne.
- 8:46Speaker 3: Now there's a lot of reporting out.
- 8:47Speaker 4: There that you laid out Fred and it didn't it
- 8:50Speaker 4: didn't materialize, and so then you end up having to
- 8:52Speaker 4: just cut him.
- 8:54Speaker 6: So I don't know, Baker comments, I I I don't
- 9:00Speaker 6: think he's going to come back, And this is just
- 9:02Speaker 6: my opinion. He to me seems like the kind of
- 9:04Speaker 6: guy that had his feelings hurt. I know, he clearing
- 9:07Speaker 6: his Instagram out, which is always the big red fall.
- 9:11Speaker 11: This and then made the roster. So what was going
- 9:16Speaker 11: on there? And then he got released the next day.
- 9:18Speaker 4: Maybe there was communication that, but you're not actually on
- 9:23Speaker 4: the own a house.
- 9:24Speaker 11: Yeah, I mean, look, it's a good real estate market.
- 9:31Speaker 12: I don't know.
- 9:31Speaker 5: I'm over the Jayvon Baker of it all.
- 9:33Speaker 6: Like, I just don't think he's the kind of guy
- 9:35Speaker 6: that's going to redefine himself as a special teams player
- 9:38Speaker 6: and become a stalwart and do everything that's involved with
- 9:40Speaker 6: being a key special team player. I think he wants
- 9:43Speaker 6: to be a receiver. I still think he thinks he
- 9:45Speaker 6: should be a receiver. And my impression of how it
- 9:48Speaker 6: seems is that he kind of had his feelings hurt
- 9:51Speaker 6: and now he's gonna go somewhere else and say I
- 9:54Speaker 6: want a fresh start. I want to try somewhere where
- 9:55Speaker 6: I can make it as a receiver, and you're not
- 9:56Speaker 6: going to be selling me on you have to be
- 9:58Speaker 6: a special teamer.
- 9:59Speaker 1: To be here.
- 10:00Speaker 3: I did like mac Hollins's comments on those, you know,
- 10:04Speaker 3: because he's been in that situation in the past where
- 10:07Speaker 3: you want to be a receiver, you think you're good
- 10:08Speaker 3: enough to be one of them, but your opportunity is
- 10:11Speaker 3: to contribute on special teams, and you do that and
- 10:14Speaker 3: then you do it well, and then eventually those opportunities
- 10:17Speaker 3: will present themselves when injuries and things happened. So when
- 10:22Speaker 3: he initially made the roster, I was thinking seven because,
- 10:24Speaker 3: like we said, they weren't going to take eight. I
- 10:27Speaker 3: you know, six to me is a lot, let alone
- 10:30Speaker 3: eight eight. It is absurd. I think the Chiefs have
- 10:32Speaker 3: like nine if you count Rashid Rice well, but he
- 10:36Speaker 3: made it, but Rice is suspended for the first six games.
- 10:39Speaker 3: But they actually have, you know, even more receivers. So
- 10:42Speaker 3: I think that was a really high number. But I
- 10:45Speaker 3: was wondering if Baker was taking the advice that Hollins
- 10:48Speaker 3: I thought was giving him and saying, because would you
- 10:51Speaker 3: have been stunned in the first game if the first
- 10:54Speaker 3: time the Patriots punted. It was Brendan Schooler on one
- 10:57Speaker 3: side and Javon Baker on the other, No.
- 11:00Speaker 6: It would have been a little bit like I just
- 11:01Speaker 6: you know, I love the experiment. I love trying to
- 11:04Speaker 6: help him to find a way. I just don't know
- 11:05Speaker 6: if he was really good at it or he was
- 11:07Speaker 6: ever going to be consistent.
- 11:10Speaker 3: Because no one's really paying attention.
- 11:13Speaker 4: I think he was good at it, but I do
- 11:17Speaker 4: agree with your premise of Matthew Slater was dedicated to
- 11:20Speaker 4: his craft, like he was somebody that was and had
- 11:25Speaker 4: that what's the word, like almost patience and and just
- 11:30Speaker 4: like ability to just understand his role and all that
- 11:33Speaker 4: kind of stuff, where he didn't really have like these
- 11:36Speaker 4: huge aspirations of like I'm a receiver and I should
- 11:40Speaker 4: be starting at receiver. And I think Brandon's Schooler is
- 11:44Speaker 4: in the same boat where Brendon Schooler is just trying
- 11:46Speaker 4: to be the best special teamer that he can possibly be,
- 11:49Speaker 4: and I don't know if Javon Baker would reinvent himself
- 11:51Speaker 4: into that kind of player.
- 11:52Speaker 3: So I totally agree with you guys, and I don't
- 11:55Speaker 3: know bad about Baker, but very few special teams guys
- 12:00Speaker 3: accept the fact that they're just special teams.
- 12:02Speaker 1: Guys.
- 12:03Speaker 3: Yeah, slaters and the schoolers of the world are outliers.
- 12:07Speaker 3: More often than not. There are guys that are saying, yeah, Okay,
- 12:10Speaker 3: that's my that's my step into the league, that's my
- 12:12Speaker 3: way onto the roster. But I'm going to be something eventually, right,
- 12:17Speaker 3: That's how most of them.
- 12:18Speaker 1: You want them to think that, you want them to
- 12:20Speaker 1: aspire to be.
- 12:21Speaker 3: On the phone, I agree with you guys about Baker.
- 12:23Speaker 3: You know what little we know of him, his personality, you.
- 12:27Speaker 4: Know, his discipline, Like, does he his discipline.
- 12:30Speaker 3: In his obvious confidence? I don't know if you would
- 12:32Speaker 3: embrace that role, but by all accounts this summer he was.
- 12:37Speaker 3: He was doing that. So I wouldn't have been stunned
- 12:39Speaker 3: if he stayed on the roster and he was immediative
- 12:42Speaker 3: in week one.
- 12:42Speaker 11: So and he didn't the personality fit because Rabel's whole
- 12:46Speaker 11: thing has been earn a role and if that's the role,
- 12:49Speaker 11: you can earn, leverage it, you know, and keep working
- 12:52Speaker 11: towards it. If he's not willing to accept that, does
- 12:54Speaker 11: the personality fit in here?
- 12:55Speaker 3: Yeah, it's a it's a great, great point, and I
- 12:58Speaker 3: wouldn't argue with Mike for or sort of being skeptical
- 13:02Speaker 3: he would I mean, is I think based on what
- 13:04Speaker 3: you know, you should be a little skeptical.
- 13:06Speaker 5: And it's up to It's up to Baker.
- 13:07Speaker 6: I mean, I think reports are they wanted him back
- 13:09Speaker 6: to come back to the practice squad, and if he
- 13:11Speaker 6: is willing to embrace that role and he likes New
- 13:13Speaker 6: England and he sees an opportunity here to grow, I mean,
- 13:16Speaker 6: there certainly is a lot of questions about the Wide
- 13:18Speaker 6: Receiver Corp going forward. I mean, it still seems to
- 13:20Speaker 6: me long term opportunity for sure him if he put
- 13:23Speaker 6: it all together. But I guess we'll find out today if.
- 13:25Speaker 3: And Mike Reese is the one who tweeted that he
- 13:27Speaker 3: was expected to be back on the practice squad. Correct.
- 13:31Speaker 1: Also, I hope they'll be serving chicken cutlets now in
- 13:35Speaker 1: the press box because.
- 13:37Speaker 3: If he likes Mexican food, Tommy DeVito.
- 13:40Speaker 1: Is, uh, everyone has been signed.
- 13:43Speaker 3: What if he like really likes like like Chinese.
- 13:46Speaker 1: Food, Okay, And everybody's just like, but what you know,
- 13:50Speaker 1: what do you make of the signing? And I kind
- 13:52Speaker 1: of teased it on Tuesday. I let people know one on.
- 13:55Speaker 13: The postgame show, You're like, I mean, he looks like
- 13:57Speaker 13: a functional third certain quarterback is probably gonna get so
- 14:00Speaker 13: I think they needed ahead of the current that but
- 14:05Speaker 13: I think it's a move they had to make, and
- 14:07Speaker 13: I think they'll probably be more of these kind of
- 14:08Speaker 13: moves trying to round out some of their.
- 14:10Speaker 1: You think he's gonna vibe for the backup job, I.
- 14:15Speaker 4: Actually do if they give him the opportunities this time
- 14:17Speaker 4: of year. Obviously the opportunities are limited, but he does
- 14:21Speaker 4: feel like maybe a little bit of a better fit
- 14:24Speaker 4: for Josh McDaniels than Dobbs. I think Dobbs got a
- 14:27Speaker 4: little bit more physical talent than Tommy DeVito does. But
- 14:30Speaker 4: if you're looking for your backup quarterback to just come
- 14:33Speaker 4: in and not screw up, then I think there's more.
- 14:36Speaker 4: He's more consistent throwing the football. I think I think
- 14:39Speaker 4: his timing is a little bit better. Dobbs definitely has
- 14:41Speaker 4: a bigger arm and is more athletic, But I wonder
- 14:44Speaker 4: if maybe there's a better fit, you know, with backup
- 14:48Speaker 4: quarterbacks that the PFF numbers are just very very telling,
- 14:52Speaker 4: like he's down the bottom of the league in big
- 14:55Speaker 4: time throws down the bottom of the league against pressure,
- 14:58Speaker 4: but also up near the top of the league getting
- 15:00Speaker 4: turnover worthy plays in a good way.
- 15:02Speaker 6: Right, So he's like, I thought you're going with some positive.
- 15:06Speaker 3: Thing is possible?
- 15:09Speaker 4: Yeah, I guess I could have particulated that.
- 15:13Speaker 3: Understood. Yeah, So, but.
- 15:14Speaker 5: He's also terrible.
- 15:17Speaker 4: He doesn't turn them all over, but he also doesn't
- 15:20Speaker 4: make any like franchise quarterback plays.
- 15:23Speaker 5: Taylor sounds like quarterback.
- 15:25Speaker 4: So if you want a backup quarterback that's like maybe
- 15:27Speaker 4: a little bit more stable than a Josh Dobbs, I
- 15:30Speaker 4: think that Tommy DeVito fits that bill.
- 15:33Speaker 3: He kind of like Mac.
- 15:35Speaker 4: Jones and Bailey Zappy, like morphed together into one quarterback.
- 15:40Speaker 4: Like he's got a little bit of Zappy and he's
- 15:41Speaker 4: got a little bit of mac uh But at the
- 15:44Speaker 4: same time quarterback, Well, we're talking about the backup quarterback up,
- 15:51Speaker 4: we're not really the bar is not very high. That's
- 15:55Speaker 4: the way I would describe Tommy DeVito. So I could
- 15:58Speaker 4: see Josh favoring that like I did.
- 16:01Speaker 3: Dobbs.
- 16:02Speaker 4: To me, I don't know if he's a great fit
- 16:04Speaker 4: for the type of system they want to run all
- 16:06Speaker 4: the time because of his inaccuracies, like he's a little
- 16:09Speaker 4: bit wild throwing the football, or if you have to
- 16:11Speaker 4: throw a guy in the game, you just want him
- 16:13Speaker 4: to kind of run the system and hit the layups
- 16:15Speaker 4: and not screw up. And maybe Divido could be better at.
- 16:18Speaker 1: Yeah, I think he's limited athletically, but I think he's
- 16:21Speaker 1: decisive and I think he's fairly accurate, so you know,
- 16:24Speaker 1: in a in a pinch, you might be able to
- 16:27Speaker 1: come in and just you know, keep things, keep things
- 16:30Speaker 1: rolling until the big guy comes back.
- 16:32Speaker 3: I don't have any faith either way there.
- 16:34Speaker 11: I think from a content perspective, it's great because what
- 16:37Speaker 11: other third string quarterback are you going to get engagement
- 16:39Speaker 11: out of?
- 16:40Speaker 12: I say we take him to the north end.
- 16:41Speaker 1: Yeah, like we've never had an Italian guy before.
- 16:48Speaker 4: I mean Rome and Anthony that there's something there or something.
- 16:53Speaker 1: All right, so h to me. The other notable one
- 16:57Speaker 1: is the release of Cold Strange, So the Cold Strange experiment, Mike.
- 17:04Speaker 3: They also claimed somebody else off of waivers. We probably
- 17:07Speaker 3: should talk about Charles.
- 17:08Speaker 5: Woods special teams kind of a guy.
- 17:10Speaker 6: So I think that's a little bit when I when
- 17:12Speaker 6: I saw them sign him, I wondered about Baker a
- 17:14Speaker 6: little bit because it seems like he's going to be
- 17:15Speaker 6: a gunner kind of a guy. So had some experience
- 17:18Speaker 6: last year's I believe an undrafted guy who made the team.
- 17:21Speaker 6: So they had two claims from them, and you know,
- 17:23Speaker 6: I would just say they still flew with the practice squad.
- 17:26Speaker 6: I know, there were I think three new faces out
- 17:28Speaker 6: there today, but you know, ten of these guys are rookies.
- 17:31Speaker 6: Two of them were draft picks, so eight guys that
- 17:32Speaker 6: were their udfas and then you know a handful of
- 17:35Speaker 6: other guys with Lidstrom, Truman, Jones, Miles Battle Giles, Terrell Jennings,
- 17:39Speaker 6: and the international exemption for David Oligiga. So I just
- 17:44Speaker 6: found that interesting, And I mean maybe this is always
- 17:46Speaker 6: the case. Sometimes things happened and they're like, you know,
- 17:48Speaker 6: but just held on to a lot of their own rookies,
- 17:51Speaker 6: trying to build some of that depth.
- 17:52Speaker 3: Just why in the program. I don't know. I didn't
- 17:57Speaker 3: see the final numbers on how many actual waiver CLIs
- 18:00Speaker 3: games there were yesterday. They were thirty. Like that to
- 18:05Speaker 3: me makes a little sense, you know, let fewer than
- 18:07Speaker 3: one per team, because I think most teams they work
- 18:11Speaker 3: with their guys all summer, they want to retain them
- 18:13Speaker 3: on the practice squads, and I think that's what most
- 18:15Speaker 3: of the teams do rather than unless they have something
- 18:18Speaker 3: that's really glaring and they go out and they make
- 18:21Speaker 3: a move. But I'm not surprised that there's not a
- 18:25Speaker 3: tremendous amount of activity on that.
- 18:27Speaker 6: One thing I kind of noted I found interesting was
- 18:30Speaker 6: that the Bills had both Jordan Poyer and Harrison Opes.
- 18:37Speaker 1: What is that some feedback in here.
- 18:41Speaker 6: I hope they can, but the Bills have, you know,
- 18:43Speaker 6: they have little two veterans who have been around. Poyer
- 18:45Speaker 6: I know haven't been with the team for a while,
- 18:46Speaker 6: but a little bit more of like, oh, there, they've
- 18:49Speaker 6: got some veterans that they know that they might get
- 18:51Speaker 6: into the games.
- 18:52Speaker 3: That Boyer come back last year on the practice squad
- 18:55Speaker 3: late in the year, or is that hide.
- 18:58Speaker 5: Bringing them back?
- 18:59Speaker 6: But it's you know, I saw some of that in
- 19:01Speaker 6: the past with the Patriots, where they would have vested veterans.
- 19:04Speaker 6: I think on the practice squad is guys that man,
- 19:06Speaker 6: these guys could be on a roster maybe, but yeah, career,
- 19:10Speaker 6: they don't.
- 19:10Speaker 4: Have any and they're one of the only teams that
- 19:12Speaker 4: don't have any vested veterans currently on the practice squad,
- 19:15Speaker 4: So I do wonder if that will change with some
- 19:18Speaker 4: of the moves that we're hearing about today. Three new guys,
- 19:21Speaker 4: it looks like maybe on the practice squad, but as
- 19:25Speaker 4: of right now, they they have guys that were all
- 19:28Speaker 4: sixteen of the signings were in camp with the Patriots,
- 19:31Speaker 4: so you know they and they were all waiver guys,
- 19:34Speaker 4: guys that were on rookie contracts or early career.
- 19:37Speaker 3: You allowed the seventeenth because of o G.
- 19:40Speaker 4: Yeah, so you have seventeen? Do you have a free
- 19:42Speaker 4: spot on Ola Jiga on the practice squad?
- 19:45Speaker 1: So international pathway players.
- 19:47Speaker 4: Right, might as well just carry carry him from London London.
- 19:52Speaker 1: Great.
- 19:53Speaker 3: Great.
- 19:53Speaker 5: We got a great email, I guess I feel like
- 19:56Speaker 5: I read it. It was one of these shows.
- 19:57Speaker 6: We got an email from like his like teacher who
- 19:59Speaker 6: live in England and saying what a great guy he
- 20:01Speaker 6: is and how excited he was to follow his career and.
- 20:03Speaker 3: Did he use his hands when he sent the email
- 20:06Speaker 3: to jazz hands.
- 20:08Speaker 5: Very expressive when I talk a lot.
- 20:09Speaker 12: Of emojis in the email.
- 20:10Speaker 4: Yeah, okay, a little bit just quickly on on Charles Woods,
- 20:15Speaker 4: I feel like he profiles really similarly to Marcella's Dial,
- 20:19Speaker 4: and they obviously Dial was lost for the year.
- 20:21Speaker 3: I think Dial was going to make the team and
- 20:23Speaker 3: he would have been. Yeah, the gunner that we're talking
- 20:25Speaker 3: about school.
- 20:27Speaker 4: So similar, you know, five eleven, one ninety four or
- 20:30Speaker 4: five guy that plays slot corner and gunner and special teams.
- 20:36Speaker 4: So a little bit similar in terms of the body
- 20:38Speaker 4: type in the role that he's played in LA over
- 20:41Speaker 4: the last couple of years and in camp. So I
- 20:43Speaker 4: kind of saw all that and was like, oh, maybe
- 20:46Speaker 4: this is they're thinking if we would have had Marcella's
- 20:49Speaker 4: Dial in that role, so now we'll have we'll have
- 20:52Speaker 4: Woods in that role potentially.
- 20:53Speaker 3: Yeah, it makes sense. The other thing with the roster
- 20:56Speaker 3: that stood out to me is Ki Douger and Anthony
- 21:01Speaker 3: Jennings and where there their places and to a lesser
- 21:05Speaker 3: extent of brill peppers, you know, will we see more
- 21:09Speaker 3: in terms of trades? You know, we had reports, as
- 21:14Speaker 3: Fred said, about Kendrick Bourne being involved in a in
- 21:17Speaker 3: a trade scenario with Minnesota. Is there a taker for
- 21:24Speaker 3: one of those guys, one of those veterans that seems
- 21:26Speaker 3: to have slipped down the death chart a little bit
- 21:28Speaker 3: they're all still here as of now. Jennings wasn't out
- 21:31Speaker 3: at practice when when Evan was at that window. Be
- 21:35Speaker 3: interesting to see if there's any moves coming.
- 21:37Speaker 1: So, so what am I missing about Peppers? I thought
- 21:39Speaker 1: he was going to be a mainstay. I thought he
- 21:41Speaker 1: was going to be the lead safety and the reason
- 21:43Speaker 1: he played deep into the Giants was to see Woodson
- 21:46Speaker 1: next to him and how they played together. But like
- 21:49Speaker 1: I have, Peppers maybe being.
- 21:50Speaker 6: A captain, I'd say this is a late development.
- 21:55Speaker 3: The last few practices he's been with the twos, so
- 21:58Speaker 3: the first practice and Soda he I mean, to be honest,
- 22:03Speaker 3: he was kind of struggling a little bit and coverage
- 22:04Speaker 3: with some of the tight ends and the screens and
- 22:06Speaker 3: stuff that were going on.
- 22:07Speaker 5: Yeah, but he also had a great play. He had
- 22:09Speaker 5: probably the play of the day where.
- 22:10Speaker 6: He dropped that as the deep safety and jumped up
- 22:12Speaker 6: and knocked away a deep pass to Jordanais and he
- 22:14Speaker 6: came down hard. I think that's why he missed day
- 22:16Speaker 6: two of the practices and then didn't play in the game,
- 22:18Speaker 6: and then we got out to practice and or you said,
- 22:21Speaker 6: you know, he played. Sorry, he played late into the Giants. Game,
- 22:23Speaker 6: like you said, and then you know, this thing came
- 22:25Speaker 6: out of Oh yeah, they want him to play with Woodson,
- 22:27Speaker 6: all right. You know I kind of bought that initially
- 22:30Speaker 6: didn't and then we got to practice and it's like,
- 22:33Speaker 6: now that's still Hawkins and Woodson out there as the
- 22:35Speaker 6: top two safeties. And there's definitely still a role for
- 22:37Speaker 6: Jabril Peppers, which I won't get too into specifics with that.
- 22:41Speaker 6: He does still play in certain packages and stuff, but
- 22:44Speaker 6: at least as far as the last few practices we
- 22:46Speaker 6: were able to watch, he was kind of out of it.
- 22:47Speaker 3: Maybe he was still kind of hurt. I don't know, Fred,
- 22:49Speaker 3: I have a theory. Yeah, you know, I know how
- 22:51Speaker 3: you like my cockamade things.
- 22:52Speaker 5: Yeah, sure, I like to share him.
- 22:54Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 22:54Speaker 3: So I think we can all agree that they're probably
- 22:57Speaker 3: looking to deal Dugger, right, he's too good of a
- 23:00Speaker 3: player to just release. You might be able to get
- 23:03Speaker 3: something for him. We don't want to just completely cut
- 23:05Speaker 3: ties with a guy that has that resume, right, We
- 23:09Speaker 3: all in agreement that they're probably looking to move on
- 23:11Speaker 3: from Dugger. At least one or two I think at
- 23:16Speaker 3: least one report indicated that the salary has been a problem.
- 23:19Speaker 3: They can't find a team to take the salary. So
- 23:21Speaker 3: what I'm wondering is, Okay, so you're interested, you like
- 23:25Speaker 3: the player, you want a player like that, But not
- 23:29Speaker 3: that said, how about Peppers? Would you take Peppers instead?
- 23:32Speaker 3: So they maybe they shed a little salary, not as
- 23:35Speaker 3: much as Dugger. They're similar kind of you know, physical
- 23:39Speaker 3: safeties better near the line of scrimma. I'm not saying
- 23:41Speaker 3: they're exactly the same because they're not. Dougger is, I think,
- 23:44Speaker 3: much more athletic, and I think Peppers is more physical.
- 23:50Speaker 3: But I wonder if maybe that's where this sort of
- 23:53Speaker 3: change in his Peppers. Dugger was relegated to secondary groups
- 23:59Speaker 3: before Pepper us was. Pepper's thing is much more recent.
- 24:04Speaker 3: So I'm wondering if maybe they haven't been able to
- 24:06Speaker 3: move Douga. Right now they're saying, oh, I wonder if
- 24:08Speaker 3: we could move Peppers.
- 24:09Speaker 1: Is the money that big of a deal, But.
- 24:12Speaker 3: You tell me, I don't know. Yeah, I don't think
- 24:14Speaker 3: Douger's money is that big of a deal. That's what
- 24:16Speaker 3: I think it goes back to. That's what this is about.
- 24:18Speaker 3: Do you think so?
- 24:19Speaker 4: I think it goes it is, I think, but it's
- 24:22Speaker 4: also like about like the standing in the locker room,
- 24:24Speaker 4: Like if you're going to have Kyle Dugger on the
- 24:27Speaker 4: roster and he's barely going to play, and he's one
- 24:30Speaker 4: of the highest paid players on the team and he
- 24:32Speaker 4: doesn't have a role on game days, like that's always
- 24:35Speaker 4: a tough dynamic within the locker room of you know,
- 24:38Speaker 4: this guy was a captain last year, they just paid him,
- 24:41Speaker 4: and now he doesn't play on Sundays, and that I
- 24:45Speaker 4: think can maybe they're worried about that dynamic being awkward.
- 24:50Speaker 1: It's possible. It's also a good lesson like doesn't matter,
- 24:54Speaker 1: Like you know.
- 24:54Speaker 6: I mean, I say to your point too about Pepper Spread.
- 24:57Speaker 6: I was thinking similar along those lines, because early in
- 24:59Speaker 6: training CA it felt like he's the guy breaking the
- 25:01Speaker 6: huddles down. Yes, you know, he had an or about
- 25:03Speaker 6: him of leadership. Yeah, and then as I'm watching practice
- 25:08Speaker 6: and I'm like, how do you stay a leader like
- 25:10Speaker 6: that if all of a sudden you're not really getting
- 25:12Speaker 6: the bulk of the right.
- 25:13Speaker 4: That's sort of what I'm getting at too, Like those
- 25:16Speaker 4: guys were voices in that locker room. They're both elected
- 25:18Speaker 4: captains at different points, and now they're going to be
- 25:22Speaker 4: very well paid backups.
- 25:25Speaker 3: I just I don't know if that's just trying to
- 25:26Speaker 3: figure out why they're backups. Yeah, and I still haven't
- 25:29Speaker 3: got anybody to tell me you rational, I have told you.
- 25:33Speaker 3: I know, I just don't agree.
- 25:35Speaker 1: But I think we all said that they're going to
- 25:37Speaker 1: have to have you know, whether you whatever you want
- 25:40Speaker 1: to call them, but you're going to have us have
- 25:41Speaker 1: a strong safety, a big nickel, whatever you call it.
- 25:45Speaker 1: You're going to have to have one of those guys
- 25:47Speaker 1: who you're comfortable having him play close to the line,
- 25:51Speaker 1: having them comfortable being more in run support. You know,
- 25:54Speaker 1: maybe you don't need both, but you know, we would
- 25:57Speaker 1: talk about their kind of duplicative too, you know, Peppers
- 26:00Speaker 1: and Duggar, so you don't need both of them. But
- 26:02Speaker 1: I thought Peppers was the guy they decided that this
- 26:05Speaker 1: is the guy we're going to keep.
- 26:06Speaker 4: I still feel like they are that is what they've decided.
- 26:09Speaker 1: But now it's like we don't care, Well.
- 26:12Speaker 3: He's playing a lot. That's just speculation theory. Don't put that.
- 26:17Speaker 3: Like again, don't get them in trouble for something they
- 26:19Speaker 3: have gone.
- 26:19Speaker 1: Right, No, not fair enough. But like again, I I
- 26:22Speaker 1: I'm a little confused.
- 26:23Speaker 4: Well, I think they wanted. They've played him a lot
- 26:25Speaker 4: at the nickel this summer and when they go through safety,
- 26:28Speaker 4: they played him a lot at the nickel. But I
- 26:30Speaker 4: don't know if he has the man coverage skills to
- 26:33Speaker 4: play the nickel at a high volume where if he's
- 26:36Speaker 4: on the tight end one on one, do you trust
- 26:38Speaker 4: your real peppers to cover the tight end one on one?
- 26:41Speaker 6: I mean there was a rep No, I don't he
- 26:43Speaker 6: was on he was on digs. You know, like that's
- 26:45Speaker 6: the kind of matchups that you're going to have to
- 26:47Speaker 6: live with.
- 26:47Speaker 4: Yeah, right, and you know some of that like your
- 26:50Speaker 4: zone and stuff like that, but like it just they
- 26:53Speaker 4: want their safeties to cover ground, but they want them
- 26:56Speaker 4: to cover space. They want them to cover the deep
- 26:58Speaker 4: part of the field.
- 26:58Speaker 1: Okay, are we so are we getting away from having
- 27:01Speaker 1: that safety that plays up close to the line, because
- 27:04Speaker 1: I don't know. You tell me the safety that can
- 27:07Speaker 1: do both, that can is really good in coverage and
- 27:09Speaker 1: in run support.
- 27:10Speaker 3: Kyle Hamlet. Ye, yeah, no, No, that's why he's a
- 27:14Speaker 3: great player. But I've said my piece on this, I'll
- 27:19Speaker 3: move on.
- 27:19Speaker 4: Like you know, when in the old defense, you know,
- 27:22Speaker 4: Jabil Peppers used to talk about it all the time.
- 27:24Speaker 3: I got the B gap.
- 27:25Speaker 4: You don't got the B gap anymore, right, Like the
- 27:28Speaker 4: B gap is somebody else's responsibility. Now your responsibility as
- 27:31Speaker 4: a safety is to get the f back and that
- 27:34Speaker 4: that's just not their skill set, Like, that's just not
- 27:37Speaker 4: their strong suits.
- 27:38Speaker 11: So the Browns kind of tried to play him, and
- 27:40Speaker 11: then he was as a bust coming out of college
- 27:43Speaker 11: because they had right.
- 27:45Speaker 1: So what I'm hearing from the ball noer is that,
- 27:49Speaker 1: you know, our defensive philosophy has changed so much that
- 27:53Speaker 1: this position that was a core part of the defense
- 27:56Speaker 1: in the past is not anymore.
- 27:57Speaker 4: And I would say that like across the correct Yeah, okay,
- 28:01Speaker 4: But like a lot of this stuff on defense applies
- 28:03Speaker 4: to Anthony Jennings, and I think it applies a little
- 28:05Speaker 4: bit to Jelani Tavai too. Like those roles, those hybrid
- 28:09Speaker 4: roles that Belichick had were extremely specific to the defense
- 28:12Speaker 4: that Belichick was running. And so when you don't have
- 28:15Speaker 4: the Belichick defense anymore, Like, is there a role for
- 28:19Speaker 4: a edge setting run defender like Anthony Jennings? Well, when
- 28:22Speaker 4: setting the edge of the defense was number one on
- 28:25Speaker 4: the list for the head coach in the front seven,
- 28:28Speaker 4: it mattered. But when you want to fly up the
- 28:30Speaker 4: field and you want to penetrate the line of scrimmage
- 28:32Speaker 4: and that's the goal of the defense, now that's not
- 28:36Speaker 4: what matters as much anymore. So I just think it's
- 28:38Speaker 4: a different scheme and it's changing. And now Woodson Hawkins
- 28:42Speaker 4: like those guys are more rangey, they can cover more
- 28:45Speaker 4: ground back there. I think they just like what they
- 28:48Speaker 4: see in those two players.
- 28:49Speaker 1: Okay, all right, so as promised, we want to get
- 28:53Speaker 1: a deep dive into these new rivalry uniforms. So what
- 28:56Speaker 1: we're going to do, We're going to take a quick break,
- 29:00Speaker 1: come back. We will get our hands on this stuff
- 29:04Speaker 1: and go over all the details, not just of the
- 29:06Speaker 1: stuff the players are gonna be wearing, but also some
- 29:08Speaker 1: of the sidelines swag that people can buy starting September tenth,
- 29:13Speaker 1: I believe. So let's take that quick break. I know
- 29:16Speaker 1: at one o'clock deuce and even have to go because
- 29:18Speaker 1: it's open locker room. So Paul, how you go into
- 29:21Speaker 1: a locker room too, Alex. So the three of us
- 29:22Speaker 1: will stay weeks about we can continue the roster talk
- 29:26Speaker 1: and everything else, but let's take that break and when
- 29:28Speaker 1: we come back, we're gonna talk rivalry uniforms Here In

- 33:55Speaker 1: We are back here on Patriots Son Feltered and as promised,
- 33:59Speaker 1: we have the first hands on look at the new
- 34:03Speaker 1: Rivalries line of clothing that the Patriots will have for
- 34:07Speaker 1: the game against the Jets this year. The NFL announced
- 34:11Speaker 1: today Rivalries line of clothing for eight teams. More teams
- 34:15Speaker 1: will be coming in other years, but this year eight
- 34:17Speaker 1: teams will be wearing Rivalries line of clothing. The Patriots
- 34:21Speaker 1: launched theirs today. So let's get going. So right here
- 34:25Speaker 1: we have Deuce and to me, this is the best
- 34:28Speaker 1: part of the whole thing is the helmet. I've been
- 34:31Speaker 1: calling for the white helmet with the new logo for
- 34:34Speaker 1: for many years now, and this is it. It's a
- 34:37Speaker 1: Matt white finish with the color of the same color
- 34:41Speaker 1: as the jersey. Now, the visor, any player can put
- 34:46Speaker 1: whatever a visor they Well, we were thinking it would
- 34:48Speaker 1: be really cool if a player had like a red
- 34:50Speaker 1: metallic tinted visor to go with the red metallic on
- 34:54Speaker 1: the Patriots. That would be cool.
- 34:56Speaker 3: So take thanks, deep dive absolute.
- 35:01Speaker 1: Once you take it off due and so we can
- 35:03Speaker 1: look at the back of the helmet and I'm not
- 35:05Speaker 1: gonna sit there with the helmet, would Yeah, So let's
- 35:08Speaker 1: turn it around. You can see it's got the New
- 35:10Speaker 1: England on the back again with the red metallic tint
- 35:14Speaker 1: It's a Matt white finish. So I think, I think
- 35:18Speaker 1: this is really cool. Yeah, the helmet's really cool. This
- 35:21Speaker 1: is what Deuce is wearing. Is more of the jersey
- 35:24Speaker 1: you'd buy in the pro shop. Yeah yeah, but it's yeah, sure,
- 35:32Speaker 1: he's so excited, Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 35:42Speaker 12: Where get girl?
- 35:43Speaker 3: All right?
- 35:44Speaker 12: Some of the symbolism on the jersey.
- 35:46Speaker 11: Yeah, we have the six stars on the uniform, representing
- 35:49Speaker 11: the six New England states.
- 35:52Speaker 12: A New n E.
- 35:54Speaker 1: Shoulder, your camera, look at this camera.
- 35:58Speaker 3: You gotta okay, it's your first time in television.
- 36:02Speaker 11: You were a Hollywood any shoulder go Inspired by the
- 36:07Speaker 11: nautical lettering and compass points, underscoring the unique nature of
- 36:10Speaker 11: the Patriots as the only team to represent an entire region.
- 36:15Speaker 11: Jersey numbers pull in their vertical striping and mesh like
- 36:18Speaker 11: design from the iconic nineteen nineties Patriots uniform, evoking memories
- 36:23Speaker 11: of Bledsoe era battles. Oh It's for you so Deuce
- 36:28Speaker 11: unfortunately doesn't have the pants, but the shoulder and pant
- 36:31Speaker 11: stripes carry a subtle netting pattern homage homage to the
- 36:37Speaker 11: working harbors that define the New England coast. Matt White
- 36:41Speaker 11: helmet reminds us of snow, metallic silver face mask reminds
- 36:46Speaker 11: us of icy cold that defines the region's winters, and
- 36:50Speaker 11: then small pops of red quiet connection back to the
- 36:52Speaker 11: team's traditional color palette, and inside every collar a reminder
- 36:56Speaker 11: that through every storm, we are all Patriots.
- 37:00Speaker 1: So this is the actual game jersey. This is Marcus
- 37:04Speaker 1: Jones jersey. And you can see it's got the the
- 37:09Speaker 1: the red stars. I don't know if we can zoom
- 37:11Speaker 1: in on that. Yeah, there you go the red stars,
- 37:15Speaker 1: which camera okay right here, and you can see the
- 37:18Speaker 1: netting on the stripes a little better here, and a
- 37:22Speaker 1: little bit of the contour of the numbers with the holes,
- 37:27Speaker 1: so it's it's cool. Then you get the we are
- 37:30Speaker 1: all Patriots up in the neck line.
- 37:34Speaker 3: Here's the back and tonight.
- 37:36Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 37:37Speaker 4: I really do like the numbers in the font. Yeah,
- 37:39Speaker 4: and I thought the texture you can't really tell that
- 37:42Speaker 4: on like a graphic. It's nice.
- 37:44Speaker 1: Yeah, and you're not gonna be able to tell that
- 37:45Speaker 1: on TV when they're far away, but like you know,
- 37:48Speaker 1: wearing this around now you can see the detail of
- 37:51Speaker 1: it all. I think it's really cool. I like it,
- 37:55Speaker 1: and you know, we'll get into some of your reactions.
- 37:57Speaker 1: It's you know, obviously everyone has a very personal take
- 38:00Speaker 1: on all this stuff. But the other thing beyond the
- 38:04Speaker 1: jersey that we see in the helmet are some of
- 38:07Speaker 1: the sideline gear. So Evan, I particularly like what you're wearing. Yeah,
- 38:12Speaker 1: that put the hands in the This is zippered up.
- 38:16Speaker 1: It's not it's not a varsity jacket, but yeah, a
- 38:21Speaker 1: little bit, but but it's it's it's very cool fall spring.
- 38:25Speaker 3: I really like Paul's hoodie too.
- 38:27Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 38:27Speaker 11: I like this.
- 38:28Speaker 1: Stand up, yeah, stand up, you get the hoodie crowd
- 38:36Speaker 1: and then turn around.
- 38:39Speaker 17: Yeah, this on the hood is we are all patriots
- 38:42Speaker 17: on the on the on the hood yeah, turn around, wow,
- 38:48Speaker 17: so you can see that we are all patriots of them.
- 38:53Speaker 1: And then, Alex, what would you consider what would you
- 38:56Speaker 1: call the fabric of that? This is a windbreaker, a windbreaker,
- 39:00Speaker 1: but it's a it's a performance type of fabric.
- 39:02Speaker 12: It's definitely a dry fit fabric windbreaker.
- 39:05Speaker 11: Really nice. I don't know how waterproof it will be.
- 39:08Speaker 11: It seems like it's waterproof. This is probably my favorite thing.
- 39:11Speaker 3: Quarters that's that's a similar hoodie is the one I
- 39:14Speaker 3: have on?
- 39:15Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 39:15Speaker 3: Do you have the oh no.
- 39:18Speaker 1: Oh yeah, so Paul so on Paul's hoodie.
- 39:23Speaker 18: Uh.
- 39:23Speaker 1: There's also a metal zipper.
- 39:26Speaker 6: Which is cool up, nothing gonna fall out of that.
- 39:30Speaker 1: There's another piece right here. This is a long sleeve,
- 39:36Speaker 1: a long sleeve you know, performance tea with the back
- 39:43Speaker 1: patriots Yeah stuff.
- 39:49Speaker 3: We got here.
- 39:49Speaker 6: This is just like my dad would come home from Reebok.
- 39:51Speaker 3: You know that you probably got to keep.
- 39:55Speaker 5: Yeah, it is the best.
- 39:57Speaker 1: This this is I'm disappointed that Alex didn't try this one.
- 40:02Speaker 12: That was my backup windbreaker.
- 40:05Speaker 1: This is sort of a half half cut to cross,
- 40:10Speaker 1: so for those of you with a crew.
- 40:11Speaker 3: Neck, I couldn't wear that.
- 40:14Speaker 12: It's just can you see it or not?
- 40:20Speaker 1: And again this this is the style of jersey that
- 40:22Speaker 1: Deuce is wearing. This is the this is gonzo.
- 40:26Speaker 12: One instead of a this.
- 40:28Speaker 3: Is a large. That's the one.
- 40:30Speaker 1: That's a large.
- 40:31Speaker 3: Yeah, he wants an.
- 40:35Speaker 1: Already called already order.
- 40:37Speaker 3: He wants one gonzo for his son Jackson does, so
- 40:41Speaker 3: does everybody else.
- 40:42Speaker 1: So that's all the stuff. I think it's pretty cool.
- 40:45Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, I really like Well, First of all, the
- 40:48Speaker 4: helmet is just I think I can't even look at
- 40:50Speaker 4: it for too long. It just makes it dang. The
- 40:53Speaker 4: helmet is great. The matt is really cool. We've all
- 40:56Speaker 4: been clamoring for the white helmets, so to get a
- 40:59Speaker 4: white helmet.
- 41:00Speaker 3: The new logo on.
- 41:01Speaker 4: It is great, and I really do like the any
- 41:04Speaker 4: I think, you know, the elvis is obviously the elvis,
- 41:06Speaker 4: but have a little bit of a different logo to
- 41:08Speaker 4: throw out there every once in a while.
- 41:10Speaker 3: I like it.
- 41:11Speaker 4: I like it on the shoulders that do on the
- 41:13Speaker 4: jersey as well. So those are my two favorite parts
- 41:15Speaker 4: of the jersey.
- 41:16Speaker 1: Okay.
- 41:17Speaker 11: I love the pops of red, like especially on the helmet,
- 41:19Speaker 11: the metallic red. It's it's subtle, but it's it just
- 41:23Speaker 11: goes really well with the color palette.
- 41:25Speaker 12: I don't know. I love this blue too. I think
- 41:26Speaker 12: it's just really flattering on everyone.
- 41:28Speaker 1: Yeah, you know, so like I heard a lot of
- 41:31Speaker 1: people say, oh, you should have had the Royal blue,
- 41:33Speaker 1: or you should have had red or this. They've got
- 41:36Speaker 1: red for the throwback, and you know they're down the
- 41:41Speaker 1: road though. I'm sure there'll be other alternates, so there's
- 41:43Speaker 1: still time to have a red jersey. But I like
- 41:46Speaker 1: having something really different than what you've got or have
- 41:49Speaker 1: had in the past. And I'm I'm not one of
- 41:52Speaker 1: those preeople that like like the real flashy colors. To me,
- 41:56Speaker 1: that's amateurish x fellas. I like like traditional, like just
- 42:01Speaker 1: really clean cut in uh modest type of colors or
- 42:07Speaker 1: pro uniform.
- 42:10Speaker 11: I think this color is just perfect New England, just
- 42:13Speaker 11: like I look at Paul's hoodie, and I think you
- 42:15Speaker 11: could walk into coffees on the Cape and find like
- 42:17Speaker 11: a nice washed blue color like that.
- 42:19Speaker 12: This says like cape Cod across, except.
- 42:21Speaker 1: It's just.
- 42:24Speaker 4: Subt It does have a little cape Cod feel to it,
- 42:28Speaker 4: like the wash washed.
- 42:30Speaker 1: So then they get the nail on the.
- 42:31Speaker 4: Head because I feel like, you know, there's like places
- 42:34Speaker 4: you walk into that have these like the whites and
- 42:36Speaker 4: the blues, and the Cape is very popular and so yeah,
- 42:39Speaker 4: I like the color. It's hard to kind of tell
- 42:43Speaker 4: just with pictures on social media what the color looks.
- 42:46Speaker 3: I didn't really know what they looked like until I
- 42:48Speaker 3: came in and saw the box.
- 42:49Speaker 1: Yeah, it was tough.
- 42:51Speaker 3: It didn't Yeah, I don't know if it was something.
- 42:53Speaker 12: About the way the dark fishing boat.
- 42:55Speaker 1: Yeah, it just didn't really doesn't eyes.
- 42:58Speaker 12: It's a great color. It's a flattering color on everyone.
- 43:01Speaker 11: Like Evan and I were looking at the pictures of
- 43:03Speaker 11: Gonzo in it, and then.
- 43:05Speaker 4: Paul like that hoodie is awesome. That's a that's a
- 43:11Speaker 4: need to purchase hoodie right there.
- 43:13Speaker 3: The tanne will be gone very very soon, that's the problem.
- 43:15Speaker 1: So so note to Patriots Administration. All employees would like
- 43:20Speaker 1: the hoodie.
- 43:22Speaker 12: I want this, thank you for I want this in the.
- 43:24Speaker 3: Crop if I could get a large one.
- 43:26Speaker 12: Do we have to return these two? Can I just
- 43:27Speaker 12: give him my credit card and.
- 43:29Speaker 1: Just well, I don't know.
- 43:30Speaker 3: I'm just going back to my office.
- 43:31Speaker 1: And unfortunately these are just the only ones they have.
- 43:36Speaker 1: But I'm told yes, September tenth and September tenth is
- 43:40Speaker 1: when this stuff will be available in the Patriots Pro
- 43:43Speaker 1: shop and I'm assuming fanatics.
- 43:45Speaker 3: Andy listening September tenth.
- 43:47Speaker 5: Yeah, he's always listening.
- 43:49Speaker 1: Yeah. Cool. So I haven't got any other texts that
- 43:52Speaker 1: I said anything wrong, So so that's good. So so
- 43:56Speaker 1: that's it. That's that's the new Rivalries release by the
- 44:00Speaker 1: NFL in for the Patriots. So very cool.
- 44:04Speaker 3: What my son chimed in from from South Carolina. Yeah,
- 44:08Speaker 3: from the they mad tough, They.
- 44:09Speaker 5: Mad tough, They mad tough.
- 44:11Speaker 1: Okay, yeah, he likes them.
- 44:14Speaker 3: I thought you mentioned that they're using him. They're wearing
- 44:17Speaker 3: them against the Jets, right, yeah. Are they also wearing
- 44:19Speaker 3: them against Buffalo?
- 44:20Speaker 1: No?
- 44:20Speaker 3: No, their against Buffalo? Where's there?
- 44:25Speaker 14: Yeah?
- 44:25Speaker 1: Just one game uh this year for the Patriots for
- 44:28Speaker 1: this year.
- 44:29Speaker 11: Cool if we were them against Buffalo too, because I
- 44:31Speaker 11: think US and Buffalo have two of the cooler.
- 44:33Speaker 1: Yeah, I think all white against this would look Yeah.
- 44:39Speaker 3: Not a lot to say that.
- 44:40Speaker 6: No, you can say, well, I mean there was eight
- 44:42Speaker 6: total uniforms. I think it was four of them were
- 44:45Speaker 6: basically all black.
- 44:47Speaker 5: The Jets and Miamis.
- 44:49Speaker 6: And the Seahawks was kind of white, the Bills was
- 44:52Speaker 6: kind of white. And the Cardinals and the Patriots were
- 44:55Speaker 6: the two different ones. They felt like the Cardinals did
- 44:56Speaker 6: kind of a sand color and the Patriots did something
- 44:59Speaker 6: totally out of their out of you know, there's no
- 45:02Speaker 6: new uniform completely. I felt like some of those other
- 45:04Speaker 6: ones though, with the forty nine ers and they all
- 45:06Speaker 6: seem like you just took your uniform made of black,
- 45:08Speaker 6: which I've seen that before.
- 45:10Speaker 3: The uh, Cardinals Desert ones are cool.
- 45:14Speaker 5: Yeah, I kind of disrespect that it was a little different.
- 45:16Speaker 3: Yeah, it was cool. Agreed.
- 45:18Speaker 1: Yeah, JJ Wattson we were in the top two for him. Uh,
- 45:21Speaker 1: des Portnoy loved him.
- 45:23Speaker 3: Oh there's a shock. Yeah he's on board.
- 45:25Speaker 1: Yeah, he's on board.
- 45:26Speaker 3: Yeah, but this type of didn't expect to win him over.
- 45:30Speaker 4: The sideline gear, like the stuff we're wearing is more
- 45:33Speaker 4: important in my mind. Than the jersey for fans, because like,
- 45:36Speaker 4: I feel like this is the type of stuff that
- 45:38Speaker 4: you want a fan less. So like the actual game,
- 45:41Speaker 4: Megan O'Brien would not know. Yeah, so like that, you
- 45:45Speaker 4: know these are these are.
- 45:47Speaker 1: It's not that she didn't like the jerseys to wear jerseys,
- 45:50Speaker 1: but she doesn't like world jerseys with someone else's name.
- 45:54Speaker 12: I'm with her. Yeah, I think it's really weird. I'm
- 45:58Speaker 12: your own sentence. I don't want to.
- 46:01Speaker 11: If I were a man, I would not want another
- 46:05Speaker 11: man's name on my back.
- 46:06Speaker 3: I just think that when you get a little older,
- 46:12Speaker 3: it's a little different. Maybe when you're already a twenties
- 46:16Speaker 3: even we'll give it a little bit of a stretch.
- 46:18Speaker 4: So you know, I think it depends, but I think
- 46:19Speaker 4: it depends on who you're wearing what jersey, because like
- 46:23Speaker 4: if you're wearing, you know, like a Tom Brady jersey,
- 46:27Speaker 4: or you know, if you're going to a Celtics game
- 46:29Speaker 4: and you're wearing a Bird jersey or a Puerce jersey,
- 46:31Speaker 4: like those are like legends of the franchise. If you're
- 46:34Speaker 4: one of those people that goes in and buys like
- 46:37Speaker 4: a new jersey every year and it's like somebody on
- 46:39Speaker 4: the current team. I kind of hear what you guys
- 46:41Speaker 4: are saying.
- 46:42Speaker 3: Yeah, I even look at it. I've given this some
- 46:46Speaker 3: thought because because of Megan, because we had huge shows
- 46:49Speaker 3: about this. Yeah, I would even say I would be
- 46:53Speaker 3: a little bit more lenient with football, Like, no matter
- 46:58Speaker 3: how old you are, you show up to stadium with
- 47:00Speaker 3: a jersey, you get Drake may shirt on or whatever,
- 47:03Speaker 3: like can I can?
- 47:05Speaker 1: I can?
- 47:05Speaker 3: I can? Look the basketball jersey never ceases to amaze.
- 47:09Speaker 4: You have a tank top, right, we have a shirt
- 47:12Speaker 4: underneath it.
- 47:12Speaker 3: Yeah, I know, and it looks ridiculous.
- 47:14Speaker 12: That might look worse.
- 47:15Speaker 3: On grown men, like Thinkneil. I've never seen anyone pull
- 47:20Speaker 3: it off and look even remotely normal. That's different.
- 47:24Speaker 1: It's clowned.
- 47:25Speaker 12: It's a college thing. College.
- 47:27Speaker 3: They look so ridiculous.
- 47:29Speaker 5: I'm going to run.
- 47:29Speaker 6: The locker room is opening a little early, so I'll
- 47:31Speaker 6: be back.
- 47:32Speaker 3: Just like would actually put the helmet under your arm,
- 47:36Speaker 3: double dog take off, that would be That would be
- 47:38Speaker 3: mad tough bro.
- 47:40Speaker 1: All right, So Evan and Duce are going to go
- 47:42Speaker 1: to the locker room.
- 47:43Speaker 12: Just walks up here, Andre, all right.
- 47:47Speaker 1: So that's it. BB in New Hampshire right said, thank
- 47:49Speaker 1: you so much for this, love the color, love the style,
- 47:52Speaker 1: pleasantly surprised more Mike fashion shows please.
- 47:56Speaker 3: This Mike really embraced it. It was kind of embarrassing.
- 47:58Speaker 3: You should have heard him before that show, how excited
- 48:00Speaker 3: he was.
- 48:01Speaker 11: We were looking at a licensing requirements for some music
- 48:04Speaker 11: to give them like a Runway song, but didn't want
- 48:07Speaker 11: to get in trouble.
- 48:07Speaker 1: Yeah, not everyone loves it. Henry in Sunny Yorkshire, UK,
- 48:12Speaker 1: The Rivalry jerseys are awful. Maybe I'm missing the point,
- 48:15Speaker 1: but can someone explain the color scheme? Is it historical?
- 48:18Speaker 1: Is it a local New England thing? The jersey itself
- 48:21Speaker 1: is fine, but it looks like it belongs in Carolina,
- 48:24Speaker 1: not Boston. Well, you know it's I think they went
- 48:27Speaker 1: for like bad weather. You know they're looking for England.
- 48:31Speaker 1: It's called I think northeaster is what they're calling it,
- 48:37Speaker 1: and that's bad weather. So when you think I think
- 48:39Speaker 1: of bad weather in New England, I think of great
- 48:41Speaker 1: clouds and choppy, stormy, choppy seas which are darker, and
- 48:46Speaker 1: so I think this resembles. Yeah, it's not supposed to
- 48:49Speaker 1: be historical, it's it's it's to symbolize sort of the
- 48:53Speaker 1: rugged weather of New England. So, like I said, everyone
- 48:57Speaker 1: has their you know, their own everybody.
- 49:00Speaker 12: Very New England.
- 49:01Speaker 11: Though, like I said, I think if you walked into Cuffe's,
- 49:03Speaker 11: they probably have a huge just like this, and it's
- 49:05Speaker 11: probably their most sold color palette.
- 49:07Speaker 1: Yeah, Justin says, I'm not over the moon about the
- 49:10Speaker 1: new uniforms, but I don't dislike them personally. I just
- 49:13Speaker 1: need to see them in action to see how I
- 49:15Speaker 1: like to look during the game. If they win in them,
- 49:17Speaker 1: you'll love them, right.
- 49:19Speaker 3: I will say this though, And I understand where some
- 49:21Speaker 3: people are coming from with the color palette because I
- 49:24Speaker 3: don't think it shows up. I think you're gonna need
- 49:27Speaker 3: to see it. Yeah, because I didn't get it. I
- 49:30Speaker 3: actually I thought there was something wrong with my computer.
- 49:32Speaker 3: I went and I watched it on Alix Starker.
- 49:34Speaker 11: Yes, and it was the cinematic you know, detailing of
- 49:39Speaker 11: the video shoot. But you're right, like in the video,
- 49:41Speaker 11: I didn't even realize that navy was kind of one
- 49:43Speaker 11: of the accent colors.
- 49:44Speaker 3: It looked very black and white to me on the
- 49:47Speaker 3: pictures and videos that I saw, but in.
- 49:49Speaker 12: Person, knowing it's Navy.
- 49:51Speaker 3: I agree with Alex's description, and I don't know the place.
- 49:53Speaker 3: I'm sorry, Alex, I can't give them. I can't give
- 49:55Speaker 3: them a plug like you have several times today. But
- 49:58Speaker 3: I agree with Alex. This is a color I've seen
- 50:01Speaker 3: a lot in and around New England. Yeah, this color
- 50:05Speaker 3: is I think, very common around New England. So I
- 50:08Speaker 3: understand what they were going for.
- 50:09Speaker 1: And even like you know, like we talked about when
- 50:12Speaker 1: we showed it, the detail of the numbers, you know,
- 50:14Speaker 1: with the little perforation. You don't get that sometimes from
- 50:19Speaker 1: a distance, but when you're looking at it close, or
- 50:21Speaker 1: if you're just wearing it on the street, you'll see that.
- 50:24Speaker 1: And I think it's really cool. It really makes the
- 50:27Speaker 1: numbers pop for me.
- 50:29Speaker 12: Me too. And the fish Netting homage detail, Yeah, I
- 50:34Speaker 12: like it a lot more than.
- 50:37Speaker 1: Yeah. I wonder if I'll have I don't know. I
- 50:40Speaker 1: don't know if they'll have polos, So I don't know
- 50:42Speaker 1: if this is the full line. Maybe somebody can text
- 50:45Speaker 1: to tell us if there's going to be more sideline
- 50:48Speaker 1: stuff than we're showing. But the play a lot of
- 50:52Speaker 1: this stuff that you're seeing. The players will be wearing
- 50:54Speaker 1: it on the sideline so good. You know, T shirt
- 51:00Speaker 1: I could use. I don't like long sleeved T shirts,
- 51:02Speaker 1: so I could use a short sleeve T shirt. Yeah,
- 51:07Speaker 1: I don't know. I just roll them up anyway. I
- 51:09Speaker 1: don't wear them long. And then wondering if what what's
- 51:15Speaker 1: the other thing?
- 51:15Speaker 8: Oh?
- 51:16Speaker 1: Caps, like if they'll have any caps?
- 51:18Speaker 3: I'm sure I'm sure they will. Yeah, yep, and regular
- 51:24Speaker 3: ball caps.
- 51:25Speaker 1: Ball caps, ball caps, like Steve would say.
- 51:29Speaker 3: The ball head ball coach.
- 51:31Speaker 1: Yep. All right, let's see Mike and the o C.
- 51:36Speaker 1: I love to get the panels grades of the Patriots, right,
- 51:38Speaker 1: I give it an A Mike and the OC gives
- 51:43Speaker 1: it at Mike and the OC gives it an a minus.
- 51:49Speaker 1: It's a very unique blue. I agree, it's unique. And
- 51:52Speaker 1: I love the white helmets and newted logo. The new
- 51:55Speaker 1: England logo on the shoulder is fine. I could take
- 51:58Speaker 1: it or leave it, which we could see them in
- 52:00Speaker 1: more than one game this year. Uh so yes.
- 52:04Speaker 3: Also with the helmet, as you you all are, no,
- 52:07Speaker 3: why not, it kind of looks a little like the Titans.
- 52:09Speaker 1: Helmet because of the color blue.
- 52:12Speaker 3: Well, the white with the blue logo on it. Yeah,
- 52:14Speaker 3: it kind of reminds me of the Titans helmet. Sure,
- 52:18Speaker 3: I don't hate it or anything.
- 52:19Speaker 11: Yeah, imagine it with just a sick visor though, like
- 52:22Speaker 11: Fred was saying, metallic red.
- 52:24Speaker 1: Give me that visor, not a huge that would be sick.
- 52:30Speaker 1: T u f F that would be fire.
- 52:33Speaker 3: And that reminds me of Terry Glenn. And it's just
- 52:36Speaker 3: like bad Paul.
- 52:36Speaker 1: That would go hard. That's that's what they say, that
- 52:41Speaker 1: that goes hard. Linda wants to know. Does Alex's fit
- 52:47Speaker 1: have anything on the back?
- 52:49Speaker 12: I don't know.
- 52:52Speaker 1: No, just playing. No, no, no, nope, no, uh, she said,
- 52:58Speaker 1: it's it's been a desire of mind to have front
- 53:00Speaker 1: and back Patriots identifiers.
- 53:02Speaker 3: Well, so most of the stuff does have stuff on
- 53:04Speaker 3: the back. I've seen, not just the hook the hoodie
- 53:09Speaker 3: has I think that we are Patriots on it, and
- 53:11Speaker 3: we are all Patriots. But but some of the shirts
- 53:13Speaker 3: have like a Patriots logo on the Yeah.
- 53:16Speaker 1: So Paul's hood has the metal zipper. This this hoodie
- 53:20Speaker 1: doesn't have the zipper. So this is if you don't
- 53:22Speaker 1: want the zipper, and it says Patriots on the front
- 53:25Speaker 1: and there's nothing on the hood.
- 53:27Speaker 3: I like this one better than that.
- 53:28Speaker 1: So this is more plain.
- 53:31Speaker 3: But even that long sleeve tea you Harry that was
- 53:33Speaker 3: gray has something on the back.
- 53:34Speaker 1: Of this hoodie.
- 53:35Speaker 17: Yeah, that one that this has the full Patriots in
- 53:39Speaker 17: the back looking for Yeah, so this one does.
- 53:43Speaker 1: Have Patriots in the back. So if you're looking for
- 53:45Speaker 1: a hoodie, this has that we are patriots, all patriots.
- 53:49Speaker 1: We are all Patriots on the hood and it's got
- 53:51Speaker 1: the Patriots on the back and then the any on
- 53:55Speaker 1: the sleeve and the and the metal zipper.
- 53:59Speaker 3: So runs the gamut a little bit.
- 54:01Speaker 1: Everything. This is the full gamut.
- 54:04Speaker 11: I had it as like a b in seeing it
- 54:06Speaker 11: on the screen and in the graphics, and then in
- 54:08Speaker 11: person A.
- 54:10Speaker 3: Yeah, definitely, I can better in person than I thought.
- 54:14Speaker 3: So okay, I think people will be happy when they
- 54:17Speaker 3: see them.
- 54:19Speaker 1: Yep. On the field, Adam says, I really like the
- 54:24Speaker 1: jerseys except for the spots and the numbers. I like
- 54:28Speaker 1: the spots and the numbers. Jerseys have actual style to
- 54:31Speaker 1: them compared to our very boring normal jerseys. I think
- 54:35Speaker 1: we probably have the second best rivalry uniforms behind the
- 54:38Speaker 1: forty nine ers. The number font on theirs is amazing,
- 54:43Speaker 1: so I didn't see that. I have to look closer at.
- 54:44Speaker 12: That you said they did black ones too, or that.
- 54:50Speaker 1: I kind of like Miami's color combo.
- 54:52Speaker 3: The only one I saw I.
- 54:53Speaker 12: Think was I like it.
- 54:55Speaker 11: However, I know pink isn't one of their colors, and
- 54:58Speaker 11: that's more of like a Miami thing to do the
- 55:00Speaker 11: vice colors. But I just it'd be so cool to
- 55:04Speaker 11: see like hot pink on a football uniform.
- 55:06Speaker 12: Selfishly, yeah, I would would have loved to see you.
- 55:09Speaker 1: You would have hoped they used that. I would have Yeah,
- 55:12Speaker 1: that would have been cool. Shane and Springfield he thinks
- 55:15Speaker 1: it stinks. Seems like they can't make up their mind
- 55:19Speaker 1: between Vrabels, Titans or maze U and c. If they
- 55:21Speaker 1: didn't want to lean into the bledstell blues that fans want,
- 55:25Speaker 1: they should have gone all full Americana and done stars
- 55:28Speaker 1: and stripes as a Patriots would have done numbers for
- 55:30Speaker 1: the fourth parties. I don't know what that means, okay anyway, Yeah,
- 55:35Speaker 1: it's like everybody has their own take. But like Paul said,
- 55:39Speaker 1: you gotta see it.
- 55:40Speaker 12: This is very different than Carolina blue.
- 55:43Speaker 1: Yeah, absolutely, Carolina blue is more baby blue.
- 55:47Speaker 11: Yeah, this is a beautiful deep like grayish. I don't like,
- 55:50Speaker 11: I want to get a paint swatch and paint addresser.
- 55:54Speaker 12: I have this color. To be honest, I'm inspired.
- 55:57Speaker 1: Yeah, I actually have a dress of this color.
- 55:59Speaker 12: Really yeah, send it to a picture for me for instill.
- 56:03Speaker 1: So good stuff. Let's get to some of the phone calls.
- 56:07Speaker 1: Eight five to five PATS five hundred is the hot line.
- 56:11Speaker 1: Let's see Jake and Wisconsin's been holding on. What's up, Jake?
- 56:15Speaker 11: Hey, how you.
- 56:16Speaker 19: Guys doing good?
- 56:19Speaker 7: Of course, the one time I'm not watching YouTube and
- 56:20Speaker 7: I'm sitting on the hold of you guys do a
- 56:22Speaker 7: fashion show. But ah, I was listening to the show
- 56:28Speaker 7: yesterday and you guys are talking about the wide receiver
- 56:30Speaker 7: room and how we're a little more comfortable with it,
- 56:33Speaker 7: and I was thinking about if we've had one of
- 56:36Speaker 7: the worst wide receiver rooms, if not the worst for
- 56:38Speaker 7: a while.
- 56:39Speaker 20: I thought, well, we're feeling a lot better now, and
- 56:41Speaker 20: the bills are pretty good parentally, but they don't have
- 56:44Speaker 20: stunning bills wide receivers. So I looked at the depth
- 56:47Speaker 20: chart and you guys are telling me if I'm biased
- 56:50Speaker 20: or fair in these assumptions, so prefer Patriots receivers over
- 56:54Speaker 20: the bills.
- 56:54Speaker 7: Bias are fair.
- 56:57Speaker 1: I'm sorry, Quill's wide receiver room for us the Patriots
- 57:00Speaker 1: wide receiver room. Which one do you think is a
- 57:03Speaker 1: little stronger? It depends on Diggs. If Diggs comes out and.
- 57:07Speaker 3: He's yeah, I don't think the Bills have a very
- 57:10Speaker 3: strong wide receiver room, right, So I think they're similar. Yeah,
- 57:14Speaker 3: I think neither one of them is very good.
- 57:16Speaker 1: But but if mac Hollins.
- 57:18Speaker 3: Kharil Shakira is probably the best receiver the Bills have,
- 57:21Speaker 3: they don't have a great receiver room. Yeah, yeah, but
- 57:23Speaker 3: the Patriots don't either. But well, I think they're similar.
- 57:26Speaker 1: Great is subjective, but it could be good.
- 57:29Speaker 3: I don't think so.
- 57:30Speaker 1: You don't so if if Diggs plays like Diggs, that's
- 57:36Speaker 1: the last three years, yeah, thousand yards, thousand yard receiver.
- 57:40Speaker 3: The best they could be is okay? Good? Why because
- 57:43Speaker 3: that's just good?
- 57:45Speaker 1: And then Holland's is an upgrade over something they didn't
- 57:48Speaker 1: have last year, right.
- 57:51Speaker 3: I don't know. I was here last year, Fred, like they,
- 57:56Speaker 3: I understand what you're getting.
- 57:58Speaker 1: I think there's potential here for the wide receiver room. Now.
- 58:00Speaker 1: The thing about the Bills is we've seen it last year.
- 58:05Speaker 1: We can Yeah, we can judge the Bills better then
- 58:07Speaker 1: we can judge the Patriots because we haven't seen it yet.
- 58:10Speaker 1: We haven't seen it with McDaniels, so we don't really
- 58:14Speaker 1: know how good this wide receiver room is. But I
- 58:17Speaker 1: think on paper it's better than it was last year.
- 58:20Speaker 3: I agree with that.
- 58:21Speaker 12: And how good will Drake make them look?
- 58:22Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 58:23Speaker 3: And how good will Drake be we you know, I
- 58:26Speaker 3: think I agree with Fred Diggs makes them better than last.
- 58:29Speaker 21: Year Patriots running backs versus Bills running backs, and same
- 58:34Speaker 21: with tight end.
- 58:35Speaker 3: I would say the Bills are better and running back
- 58:37Speaker 3: and tight end. I really like James Cook a lot.
- 58:41Speaker 3: I think James Cook is really good, and I think
- 58:43Speaker 3: Dalton kin kate is is really good.
- 58:47Speaker 21: I just looking after James Cook gets Ray Davis and.
- 58:50Speaker 3: He's a really solid backup who had a good year
- 58:53Speaker 3: for them last year. Yeah, I think they're good.
- 58:56Speaker 21: So if we compare those three skill positions and stay
- 59:00Speaker 21: they're fairly similar.
- 59:01Speaker 3: I would agree with that.
- 59:02Speaker 21: Next step. What's the next step to get us to
- 59:05Speaker 21: be able to be division contenders?
- 59:07Speaker 3: Drake May?
- 59:09Speaker 21: I was going to say, aside from Drake May becoming
- 59:11Speaker 21: Josh Allen, Okay.
- 59:12Speaker 3: The defense getting better, No, Drake may like because but
- 59:17Speaker 3: what I'm saying is, I don't think the Bill's rece
- 59:20Speaker 3: corps is very good. Josh Allen may have had his
- 59:24Speaker 3: best year of his career last year with a with
- 59:26Speaker 3: a not very good receiving corpse, So why is that?
- 59:29Speaker 1: Because he's great?
- 59:30Speaker 12: Correct?
- 59:32Speaker 3: Correct, So that's what you need to do. So I
- 59:35Speaker 3: agree with that. I'm one hundred percent on board with
- 59:37Speaker 3: the caller. I know most people probably expect that I'm
- 59:39Speaker 3: going to push back. I agree with him. I think
- 59:41Speaker 3: the tight end situation, I would give the Bills the edge.
- 59:44Speaker 3: The running back situation. I think the running back room
- 59:47Speaker 3: for the Patriots is probably the strongest position they have,
- 59:50Speaker 3: those three guys. So you want to give the edge
- 59:53Speaker 3: of the Patriots and running backs, Okay, you want to
- 59:55Speaker 3: give the edge of the wide receivers for the Patriots. Okay,
- 59:58Speaker 3: tight ends, I would say it's edge to the Bills.
- 1:00:01Speaker 3: But it doesn't matter, right, None of that matters.
- 1:00:03Speaker 1: It's the quarterback.
- 1:00:04Speaker 3: Because the gap between quarterbacks is so enormous you can't
- 1:00:09Speaker 3: even quantify it. If Drake May gets better, that's when
- 1:00:14Speaker 3: you start to have a good offense.
- 1:00:16Speaker 1: Yep.
- 1:00:16Speaker 3: Now I'm I'm leaving out, which is also a huge difference.
- 1:00:20Speaker 3: The Bill's offensive line is pretty good. Yeah, Patriots isn't.
- 1:00:24Speaker 1: Yep, that's a big one. That's a big one. Christian
- 1:00:27Speaker 1: in La. What's up? Christian?
- 1:00:31Speaker 9: Hey you guys here?
- 1:00:32Speaker 22: You guys have the Thursday team?
- 1:00:34Speaker 18: Yep, quickly.
- 1:00:36Speaker 22: I think it's Laden Robinson that when I heard you
- 1:00:39Speaker 22: guys day was turning on to be an intensive wing
- 1:00:42Speaker 22: guard for us. He got hurt and they just kind
- 1:00:45Speaker 22: of instead of reserve as a little being confused as that.
- 1:00:49Speaker 22: But my real question.
- 1:00:50Speaker 3: Is Layden Robinson was never a threat to be on
- 1:00:53Speaker 3: the roster this year. He was with the third team.
- 1:00:56Speaker 3: He was with the third team pretty much every day,
- 1:00:59Speaker 3: all right?
- 1:00:59Speaker 23: That some of those that you guys were talking about,
- 1:01:01Speaker 23: that's that's potential good swing guard for us.
- 1:01:04Speaker 22: I'm sorry, I don't remember his name, but.
- 1:01:09Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 1:01:10Speaker 22: Welcome to David now at the number two cornerback positions.
- 1:01:14Speaker 23: Are you guys expecting Donslow to take the leap up
- 1:01:17Speaker 23: to shut down corner?
- 1:01:20Speaker 22: That's one and then.
- 1:01:21Speaker 23: Two, we've been talking about players coming to New England
- 1:01:26Speaker 23: next year.
- 1:01:26Speaker 18: I have to we do a little better this year.
- 1:01:28Speaker 22: But in today's landscape.
- 1:01:30Speaker 23: Where superstar receivers potentially are trying to simultaneously build their
- 1:01:37Speaker 23: off steel brands.
- 1:01:38Speaker 22: Do you think Rabel is the coming const that would
- 1:01:41Speaker 22: allow the open stuff that have to happen booths on.
- 1:01:44Speaker 23: You know, feel for one of those star players, you
- 1:01:46Speaker 23: want to come here and still develop their brand be.
- 1:01:49Speaker 3: One of two questions, don't I don't think a lot
- 1:01:52Speaker 3: of that. I don't think. I don't think that stuff
- 1:01:54Speaker 3: is overly important. I think if Drake may becomes what
- 1:01:57Speaker 3: we were hoping for him to become, and wide receivers
- 1:02:01Speaker 3: looking they say I can I can catch you one
- 1:02:04Speaker 3: hundred balls for fifteen hundred yards there, they'll come and
- 1:02:07Speaker 3: they'll take the contract. Now, the contract is the first
- 1:02:09Speaker 3: and foremost, but anybody who is let's say, let's say
- 1:02:15Speaker 3: you take that face value. The Chris god One thing
- 1:02:18Speaker 3: Pages did offer him more money from Tampa. Well, he's
- 1:02:21Speaker 3: not going to take it because he's not sure exactly
- 1:02:23Speaker 3: what the passing game is going to look like in
- 1:02:24Speaker 3: New England. He's not turning it down in New England
- 1:02:28Speaker 3: because of brand or something like that.
- 1:02:30Speaker 1: No, he was saying that these players want to have
- 1:02:33Speaker 1: their own brand and is able to type of coach
- 1:02:35Speaker 1: to allow a player do his brand have no idea.
- 1:02:38Speaker 3: But I don't think that that's that important to these guys,
- 1:02:41Speaker 3: that they're making their decisions based on where I can
- 1:02:43Speaker 3: be me.
- 1:02:44Speaker 18: No.
- 1:02:44Speaker 1: But what he's saying is would Rabel bring in a
- 1:02:46Speaker 1: guy who wants to do that? Of course he.
- 1:02:48Speaker 11: Wont in Europe walking in fashion shows this offseason and
- 1:02:54Speaker 11: it didn't seem Yeah.
- 1:02:55Speaker 1: I mean this is the modern NFL.
- 1:02:58Speaker 3: It will seem to be a problem.
- 1:02:59Speaker 1: I mean, these guys just starting their own brands in
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: college now with the nil so I just feel you
- 1:03:04Speaker 1: got to get with that program.
- 1:03:05Speaker 3: If you give him the money and they think that
- 1:03:07Speaker 3: they can succeed, they can thrive. I you know the
- 1:03:11Speaker 3: wide receivers where a diva comes in is they want
- 1:03:13Speaker 3: to be the man. They want to be number the
- 1:03:15Speaker 3: number one guy. They want to get the targets. That's
- 1:03:18Speaker 3: what the worry about Digs right now is will he
- 1:03:22Speaker 3: be okay if he's just part of the you know,
- 1:03:26Speaker 3: a cog in the machine. Does he have to be
- 1:03:28Speaker 3: the guy? And there was some line of thought that
- 1:03:31Speaker 3: last year in Houston he was okay because he looked
- 1:03:33Speaker 3: over and he saw Nico Collins who was clearly the
- 1:03:37Speaker 3: number one and said, Okay, he's worthy. The pages don't
- 1:03:40Speaker 3: have that. So that's that to me is those are
- 1:03:44Speaker 3: the Christian Those are the overriding factors to me. Can
- 1:03:46Speaker 3: I succeed? Can I thrive and be be the the
- 1:03:49Speaker 3: alpha like Alex said? And do I get the money?
- 1:03:53Speaker 3: Those are the two things that are important. The rest
- 1:03:55Speaker 3: of that stuff comes with those things.
- 1:03:56Speaker 1: I wouldn't worry about Vrabel not wanting that type of player.
- 1:04:00Speaker 3: I really don't know.
- 1:04:02Speaker 24: If you're a coach, as long as it's not a distraction,
- 1:04:06Speaker 24: why wouldn't you Guys you want your guys to make
- 1:04:09Speaker 24: as much money off the field as possible, then maybe
- 1:04:12Speaker 24: they help give you leeway when you're constructing.
- 1:04:15Speaker 12: They're making so much off the field.
- 1:04:17Speaker 1: As long as that it's affecting their player practice, yeah
- 1:04:20Speaker 1: or the other. You know, like it's fine, but that's
- 1:04:23Speaker 1: the way it is these days. Yeah, you know, it's.
- 1:04:26Speaker 12: N I L is only going to make it worse,
- 1:04:28Speaker 12: not worse, but it's going to.
- 1:04:32Speaker 11: Like these kids are coming into the NFL hundreds of
- 1:04:35Speaker 11: thousands of followers, they're already businesses in and of themselves,
- 1:04:39Speaker 11: you know, and it's just going to continue.
- 1:04:41Speaker 1: And the whole thing about Gonzo stepping up to be
- 1:04:44Speaker 1: a shutdown corner.
- 1:04:45Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean I thought he had already.
- 1:04:46Speaker 1: I thought I thought that's what he was.
- 1:04:47Speaker 6: Now.
- 1:04:48Speaker 3: He was a second team All Pro last year, right,
- 1:04:50Speaker 3: you know, is he the best corner in football?
- 1:04:52Speaker 1: No?
- 1:04:53Speaker 3: But you know he's in the conversation.
- 1:04:55Speaker 1: Yeah, and yeah, he's got potential to be.
- 1:04:58Speaker 3: I say he's I mean, at worst he top five
- 1:05:00Speaker 3: or six.
- 1:05:01Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:05:02Speaker 25: Uh.
- 1:05:03Speaker 1: Another person in l A. Nelson? What's up? Nelson?
- 1:05:06Speaker 25: Hey?
- 1:05:07Speaker 23: I was doing today?
- 1:05:07Speaker 1: Man, good man.
- 1:05:09Speaker 9: That uniform is dripping all right?
- 1:05:12Speaker 1: What do you like about it?
- 1:05:14Speaker 9: Out of everything?
- 1:05:15Speaker 22: The whole color everybody's complaining about.
- 1:05:17Speaker 20: I don't know how I'll be complaining you acting like girls,
- 1:05:19Speaker 20: I don't know what you like.
- 1:05:21Speaker 3: That's disrespectful, Yeah, because you'll be saying they be saying, oh,
- 1:05:26Speaker 3: we want you stuff, we want you when they bring
- 1:05:28Speaker 3: your boff don't thing about it stuff.
- 1:05:30Speaker 1: I know, I know. It's it's so hard no matter
- 1:05:33Speaker 1: what you do.
- 1:05:34Speaker 3: You think the same.
- 1:05:34Speaker 5: Yeah, damn if you do.
- 1:05:36Speaker 1: If you don't, you know, fashion is very very subjective.
- 1:05:39Speaker 22: And uniform with that color this year tell yeah.
- 1:05:44Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I just want to win in them. Yeah,
- 1:05:47Speaker 1: if you win the game in them, now we love them.
- 1:05:50Speaker 25: So I want to do too.
- 1:05:51Speaker 1: Yeah, like like.
- 1:05:51Speaker 11: The Red Sox yellow yellow, and they did not lose
- 1:05:57Speaker 11: games in those when they first rolled those out, you know,
- 1:06:00Speaker 11: and everyone was obsessed.
- 1:06:01Speaker 12: It's bright yellow.
- 1:06:02Speaker 11: Only a very small amount of the population can wear
- 1:06:05Speaker 11: bright yellow and have it be flattering. You know.
- 1:06:07Speaker 12: People love them because they were winning in them, right.
- 1:06:11Speaker 3: I know a lot of people didn't like the Dynasty uniform.
- 1:06:14Speaker 3: They won a few games and those That's true, people
- 1:06:17Speaker 3: don't like them.
- 1:06:18Speaker 1: It's very subjective fashion. So you're never going to come
- 1:06:23Speaker 1: out with something that everyone loves unless they're like Levi's
- 1:06:26Speaker 1: never It's true.
- 1:06:28Speaker 11: That word from Nelson to your your rolodex dripping.
- 1:06:35Speaker 1: Yeah, Paul dripped before you were even born. I mean
- 1:06:39Speaker 1: fair enough.
- 1:06:40Speaker 3: He's not lying. I used to I used to dress. Yeah,
- 1:06:45Speaker 3: that's that's a different Italian horn. Now that's a different
- 1:06:48Speaker 3: kind of drip to.
- 1:06:49Speaker 1: You, still, the horne of fertility.
- 1:06:52Speaker 12: I don't even wear a chain anymore of Italian? Are you?
- 1:06:55Speaker 25: No?
- 1:06:55Speaker 3: Evidently a bad one? No one calls me cutlets.
- 1:06:58Speaker 12: That's true.
- 1:07:00Speaker 3: You gotta make fun of people because they're Italian.
- 1:07:04Speaker 1: Dollar oil voice get a jump.
- 1:07:08Speaker 3: Like if we just signed like an Irish guy we
- 1:07:10Speaker 3: call him like, you know, Jimmy Guinness. Like, I just
- 1:07:16Speaker 3: don't understand why it's okay.
- 1:07:18Speaker 12: I thought we were being positive about the Italians.
- 1:07:20Speaker 3: I don't think so. I don't think so what are
- 1:07:24Speaker 3: you doing?
- 1:07:26Speaker 1: Kyle says, he wants me to turn the helmets?
- 1:07:30Speaker 3: I was like, what are we doing?
- 1:07:33Speaker 1: There?
- 1:07:33Speaker 3: You go, Kyle, Freddy took care of you front and center.
- 1:07:36Speaker 1: For you. It's hard to see even now, you know,
- 1:07:39Speaker 1: because of the lighting and everything in the glare. But
- 1:07:42Speaker 1: it's it's sweet. It's sweet. You know.
- 1:07:45Speaker 3: What was somewhat disappointing about the roster cutdown this year?
- 1:07:49Speaker 3: Was there anything that was really even a remote surprise,
- 1:07:55Speaker 3: not something like huh, I didn't see that one coming.
- 1:07:59Speaker 3: It was nothing.
- 1:08:00Speaker 1: No, I think if this if Cole Strange had been
- 1:08:03Speaker 1: cut last year, that would have been a surprise, you know,
- 1:08:06Speaker 1: before the injury obviously, but now we've been sort of
- 1:08:10Speaker 1: conditioned to think like this is coming.
- 1:08:13Speaker 3: He was coming off. He had been injured going into
- 1:08:15Speaker 3: last year.
- 1:08:16Speaker 1: Yeah, so you.
- 1:08:17Speaker 3: Didn't get hurt last year. He got hurt two years ago.
- 1:08:20Speaker 1: It was two years ago.
- 1:08:21Speaker 3: I thought it was before we played like a handful
- 1:08:23Speaker 3: of games because of the injury from.
- 1:08:25Speaker 1: The previous I thought he got a hurt in training camp.
- 1:08:27Speaker 3: No, he tour his ruptured patella tendon in twenty three
- 1:08:34Speaker 3: and only played like maybe four games and twenty four
- 1:08:38Speaker 3: as a result of that.
- 1:08:39Speaker 1: Okay, I thought it was Remember in training camp, we
- 1:08:41Speaker 1: were going blow by plow with what happened with Cold
- 1:08:44Speaker 1: Strange in the training shed and all that. Remember I
- 1:08:47Speaker 1: was going over that. You don't remember me doing.
- 1:08:49Speaker 3: That, not with Cold Strange because it wasn't that training camp.
- 1:08:53Speaker 3: He was on like pup the whole year.
- 1:08:55Speaker 1: What am I thinking?
- 1:08:56Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 1:08:57Speaker 1: Remember, don't you remember we're sitting up where we sit
- 1:09:00Speaker 1: in the ramp, and I'm like, okay, now they're looking
- 1:09:01Speaker 1: if that makes sense.
- 1:09:02Speaker 3: I don't sit up in the ramp with you. That's
- 1:09:05Speaker 3: for your your boys, Okay, I sit down in the
- 1:09:08Speaker 3: hill when you guys make fun of.
- 1:09:09Speaker 1: Him because I was going blow by blow with Cold
- 1:09:11Speaker 1: Strange and his injury.
- 1:09:12Speaker 3: He was trying a training camp last year he got
- 1:09:15Speaker 3: hurt in twenty three.
- 1:09:17Speaker 1: Maybe it was mini camp. Yeah, I need Deuce with
- 1:09:24Speaker 1: Deuce come back. I need Deuce because I I did
- 1:09:28Speaker 1: do that. Chester's in Portland. What's up Chester?
- 1:09:34Speaker 3: Pull strange a serious torn pateel attendant and his left
- 1:09:37Speaker 3: knee in late twenty twenty three.
- 1:09:40Speaker 1: What's up Chester?
- 1:09:42Speaker 18: What's up?
- 1:09:43Speaker 1: Guys?
- 1:09:43Speaker 26: Hey, great Joes. There's the three of you guys make
- 1:09:45Speaker 26: a great three. Oh you know, it's a great combination
- 1:09:48Speaker 26: of young, old and older and really good stuff.
- 1:09:53Speaker 3: I see what you did there.
- 1:09:54Speaker 26: I think, by the way, on reaching your final week
- 1:09:57Speaker 26: before three Joes, We're looking forward to more of you, guys.
- 1:10:00Speaker 26: I had to time in today on this new Jersey
- 1:10:03Speaker 26: apparel combo. To me, they look shy up friends. When
- 1:10:06Speaker 26: I when I saw him the first time on social media,
- 1:10:08Speaker 26: I kind of got lions cold sides, and you know,
- 1:10:10Speaker 26: they kind of got that feeling. But I love the
- 1:10:13Speaker 26: white helmets and I'm glad you guys showed them in
- 1:10:15Speaker 26: the studio because they look better. I don't know if
- 1:10:18Speaker 26: it's just like TV or what, but they look a
- 1:10:20Speaker 26: little more gray but really sharp and and I'm really
- 1:10:24Speaker 26: starting to see some new spirals out there and to
- 1:10:27Speaker 26: get to that pro job, I just want to say too,
- 1:10:30Speaker 26: if anybody doesn't like them, like, we've got what three
- 1:10:32Speaker 26: other spyles to choose from. So you know, get after
- 1:10:35Speaker 26: what you want to me. Next week we aim our
- 1:10:37Speaker 26: sides on a new attitude, and you know, time for
- 1:10:40Speaker 26: us fans to get out there do our job. Get
- 1:10:43Speaker 26: to the pro shop on September ten and buy some
- 1:10:46Speaker 26: apparel over and out.
- 1:10:48Speaker 1: Let's go, Yeah, let's go.
- 1:10:54Speaker 3: He's toning it down, Alex. He used to really, he
- 1:10:56Speaker 3: used to really really rile up the fan base.
- 1:10:58Speaker 12: With the would have a whole on a ready vintage tape. Chester.
- 1:11:02Speaker 12: Send your photo in for the next round.
- 1:11:04Speaker 1: Of guests that list. I think he did already, didn't he?
- 1:11:07Speaker 12: Maybe yeah, do it again?
- 1:11:09Speaker 1: Okay?
- 1:11:10Speaker 27: Uh?
- 1:11:10Speaker 1: Dante is in Newark, Delaware, Newark, Newark, Newark, Delaware, Newark.
- 1:11:17Speaker 1: What's up, Dante, Newark, New Jersey. Turn it up?
- 1:11:20Speaker 19: Newark is New Jersey, Newark is Delaware.
- 1:11:23Speaker 12: Wow, good to know.
- 1:11:26Speaker 25: Yeah, So just my quest culture and.
- 1:11:28Speaker 7: Take sure it's running back room.
- 1:11:29Speaker 19: Obviously we're gonna be running back by committee with not
- 1:11:33Speaker 19: three really good running backs. But do you guys eventually
- 1:11:35Speaker 19: see Traveon Henderson taking that leap forward to becoming like
- 1:11:40Speaker 19: an all downs back for us, because obviously he's got
- 1:11:43Speaker 19: a lot of bag play protection.
- 1:11:45Speaker 1: Yeah, I saw who's a Dan Gratziano that his name.
- 1:11:49Speaker 3: Yeah, he predicted a person.
- 1:11:51Speaker 1: He did predict today that eventually he'd be the lead back.
- 1:11:55Speaker 3: I do not believe that that will be the case.
- 1:11:57Speaker 1: Yeah, Now do you think it will happen this season?
- 1:11:59Speaker 3: I don't think it'll ever be the case. I don't
- 1:12:01Speaker 3: think he's built for it. I think he's too small.
- 1:12:05Speaker 3: But it's it has happened. There's no question he has
- 1:12:10Speaker 3: the biggest, the big play potential. There's nobody's. The other
- 1:12:14Speaker 3: two aren't close to him. He has an electricity about him,
- 1:12:17Speaker 3: no doubt about it. I think he would lose some
- 1:12:20Speaker 3: of that the higher his workload would would get. I
- 1:12:23Speaker 3: would worry about that. Yep. I think if you ask
- 1:12:27Speaker 3: him to carry the ball two hundred and fifty times
- 1:12:29Speaker 3: between the tackles, he would wear down and probably get injured.
- 1:12:33Speaker 3: But if you give him, you know, maybe ten or
- 1:12:35Speaker 3: fifteen touches per game, get him out in space on screens,
- 1:12:39Speaker 3: maybe some some you know, crack toss sweeps and whatnot.
- 1:12:43Speaker 3: I think he'd be effective in that role and give
- 1:12:46Speaker 3: you the chance for some big plays. I think he's
- 1:12:49Speaker 3: the best, the best possible big play guy. They have
- 1:12:53Speaker 3: best potential big player goes.
- 1:12:56Speaker 22: With like mcdaigel's offense.
- 1:12:58Speaker 7: I mean, James White, he played really great.
- 1:13:01Speaker 19: For US managers receiving back right, But obviously.
- 1:13:06Speaker 7: Treon has more than that.
- 1:13:08Speaker 19: He has much more talent than White did have.
- 1:13:10Speaker 3: Any I disagree with that strongly. I strongly disagree. I
- 1:13:15Speaker 3: think it's very disrespectful to James White. This is the
- 1:13:18Speaker 3: James White had a better college career than Trevon Henderson did.
- 1:13:23Speaker 19: Yeah, but I mean, like as far as like lion
- 1:13:25Speaker 19: might like you know, championship games and you know.
- 1:13:29Speaker 28: In the playoffs.
- 1:13:30Speaker 19: He's pored a lot of touchdowns for Ohio State in
- 1:13:32Speaker 19: the playoffs.
- 1:13:34Speaker 1: Okay, James White scored a lot of touchdowns for the Patriots.
- 1:13:37Speaker 3: So I'm just gonna say, I want to say one
- 1:13:40Speaker 3: thing Henderson I said. I don't think he'll ever be that.
- 1:13:44Speaker 3: That's just my view right now. Thanks to he's very
- 1:13:47Speaker 3: similar in size to Jamiir Gibbs, and Gibbs has sort
- 1:13:50Speaker 3: of continued to increase that role as he's gone on,
- 1:13:56Speaker 3: so he could. I'm not going to dismiss the possibility
- 1:13:58Speaker 3: that he because I think Gibbs his kind of supplanted
- 1:14:01Speaker 3: Montgomery as the number one guy for Detroit. That's what
- 1:14:04Speaker 3: you're looking for from Henderson is Jamiir Gibbs, right, Okay,
- 1:14:07Speaker 3: a guy who can ca Oh absolutely, I can take
- 1:14:09Speaker 3: it and run. I mean to me, it gives her
- 1:14:11Speaker 3: in for like fourteen hundred yards l and I just
- 1:14:14Speaker 3: looked up gives his size and he's not there. I mean,
- 1:14:16Speaker 3: he's like five nine, five ten. He's kind of similar
- 1:14:19Speaker 3: in size two hundred pounds yep to Henderson. So if
- 1:14:23Speaker 3: he did it, Henderson could do it too. But I
- 1:14:26Speaker 3: just James James White in college, and that's all we
- 1:14:32Speaker 3: can compare it to, right, because that's all Henderson's done.
- 1:14:36Speaker 3: But James White in college was nasty at Wisconsin. Oh,
- 1:14:42Speaker 3: I looked up the wrong thing. Continue, I'll get it
- 1:14:44Speaker 3: all right.
- 1:14:45Speaker 1: Well, anyway, we'll talk about that after the break when we.
- 1:14:47Speaker 3: Come back making another break.
- 1:14:49Speaker 1: Yeah, we got him. More calls, more emails. I see

- 1:16:54Speaker 29: Well, I mean again, you're correct and saying that there
- 1:16:56Speaker 29: are some moving parts. I feel great about where we're at,
- 1:16:58Speaker 29: but will continue to look for ways to improve and
- 1:17:04Speaker 29: what we feel like from a personnel standpoint, but also
- 1:17:09Speaker 29: looking for ways to improve on the field. Today will
- 1:17:12Speaker 29: be an important day for us, just getting started here
- 1:17:14Speaker 29: with with the Raiders and and the show team process
- 1:17:18Speaker 29: and and all that and trying to get the looks
- 1:17:20Speaker 29: that we need to try to, you know, begin the
- 1:17:22Speaker 29: the game planning and practicing some of that stuff.
- 1:17:27Speaker 25: Learning spots would be tough to saying that things really
- 1:17:31Speaker 25: target to try the good.
- 1:17:32Speaker 29: No I mean, I don't think that you really set
- 1:17:34Speaker 29: out You just try to focus on, you know, adding
- 1:17:38Speaker 29: good players to you to your football team and whatever role.
- 1:17:42Speaker 25: That you envision for them, and and kind of go
- 1:17:44Speaker 25: from there. And so.
- 1:17:46Speaker 29: I feel like we've improved through training camp and then
- 1:17:50Speaker 29: need to continue to improve through this process of preparing
- 1:17:53Speaker 29: to win, and then also continuing to to target players,
- 1:17:57Speaker 29: whether that's you know today and you know the next
- 1:18:01Speaker 29: few days as players become available.
- 1:18:04Speaker 28: Might understand that things are moving fast here and tell.
- 1:18:07Speaker 29: Me the BEATO awarded on Weaving with disapoint Well again,
- 1:18:11Speaker 29: I think that we'll confirm all those things later on.
- 1:18:14Speaker 29: And know, we put a claim in for a couple
- 1:18:16Speaker 29: of guys, and I would say that just.
- 1:18:19Speaker 25: Strengthening a roster, certainly at.
- 1:18:22Speaker 29: A premium position, and you know, continuing to add pieces,
- 1:18:28Speaker 29: whether that's offensively or defensively, or guys that we feel
- 1:18:31Speaker 29: like can help us on special teams.
- 1:18:34Speaker 25: How much would.
- 1:18:34Speaker 8: Somebody think Ryan's insight be value with a player like
- 1:18:39Speaker 8: that and helping the left?
- 1:18:43Speaker 25: What and insight? I'm just sorry, so Tommy Debido and
- 1:18:48Speaker 25: Ryan cal.
- 1:18:49Speaker 29: Oh, yeah, yeah, I didn't know what you said after
- 1:18:51Speaker 29: the well, I mean We've had coaches and personnel people
- 1:18:57Speaker 29: throughout the league at different spots, you know, whether that
- 1:19:01Speaker 29: be me or Stretch or coaches or Ryan or anybody,
- 1:19:07Speaker 29: you know. I think that's just one part of the evaluation,
- 1:19:11Speaker 29: having some working knowledge of what the player has done
- 1:19:14Speaker 29: in the building, how are they day to day And
- 1:19:17Speaker 29: we can all watch the performance and see what it
- 1:19:20Speaker 29: looks like on the on the film, but the practice,
- 1:19:23Speaker 29: the habits, the how they are in the building and
- 1:19:26Speaker 29: how they prepare and and did they improve. I think
- 1:19:30Speaker 29: those are some some insights, whether it's this particular instance
- 1:19:37Speaker 29: or if it's just you know, somebody else that we're
- 1:19:39Speaker 29: trying to target. So I think that that can always help.
- 1:19:43Speaker 29: It wasn't the main factor in this decision. Yeah, And
- 1:19:54Speaker 29: again Josh has been settled down in the games, and
- 1:19:59Speaker 29: I think the there's been some mistakes, whether that was
- 1:20:02Speaker 29: joint practice or practice, and we're all going to have
- 1:20:04Speaker 29: mistakes and then being able to you know, settle down
- 1:20:08Speaker 29: in the games and perform and operate. And again, I
- 1:20:13Speaker 29: don't each move that will make may not being indication
- 1:20:20Speaker 29: of what the players are at that position. I think
- 1:20:23Speaker 29: it's just looking into strengthen the overall roster construction.
- 1:20:29Speaker 25: How valuable and important as the practice squad.
- 1:20:31Speaker 1: Will become as it's years.
- 1:20:34Speaker 29: We were laughing the other day when it was fifty
- 1:20:36Speaker 29: three players and five guys on the practice squad and
- 1:20:38Speaker 29: we actually practiced and functioned, and now we have probably
- 1:20:42Speaker 29: will have seventy and we'll be wondering how we can
- 1:20:47Speaker 29: practice that many players. So what it's given you is
- 1:20:51Speaker 29: given you a good blend of of having some veterans
- 1:20:54Speaker 29: that may be able to go in right away and
- 1:20:56Speaker 29: be elevated, and also gives you an opportunity to develop
- 1:21:00Speaker 29: some younger players. What you'll see when that that list
- 1:21:03Speaker 29: comes out, so you'll be able to kind of recognize
- 1:21:06Speaker 29: both of those who you may need some more time
- 1:21:09Speaker 29: and want to invest some more time into them, or
- 1:21:12Speaker 29: a veteran that's played in this league and would be
- 1:21:15Speaker 29: ready to go if we needed to elevate them.
- 1:21:18Speaker 6: Along those lines to make I wanted to ask them
- 1:21:20Speaker 6: bred Swinson just given.
- 1:21:21Speaker 25: The drift status the fifth under with tip the camp, did.
- 1:21:24Speaker 14: He have to see someone that will see on that practice.
- 1:21:26Speaker 29: Squads again that'll be out at four and you know,
- 1:21:30Speaker 29: there's always tough decisions that we have to make. So
- 1:21:35Speaker 29: we have to do what's in the best interest to
- 1:21:37Speaker 29: the football team, and that's why you practice, and that
- 1:21:40Speaker 29: there's a competition and there's games to evaluate and see
- 1:21:43Speaker 29: how they respond. So you know that that practice squad
- 1:21:48Speaker 29: list will be out at four and it will continue
- 1:21:51Speaker 29: to you know, I think change over the course of
- 1:21:54Speaker 29: not only the next few days, but but probably the season.
- 1:21:57Speaker 29: You guys end at the point that the thicker our
- 1:22:01Speaker 29: curious to get your perspective on how that kicking competition
- 1:22:04Speaker 29: played out over.
- 1:22:05Speaker 25: The summer meeting. So I thought it was competitive.
- 1:22:06Speaker 29: I thought Parker really improved from the spring to the summer.
- 1:22:12Speaker 29: And I think just the entire body of work, we
- 1:22:15Speaker 29: we felt like Andy was going to be our kicker.
- 1:22:19Speaker 29: And again I appreciate Parker's competitiveness and how he worked, and.
- 1:22:24Speaker 25: You know, I wish him well, and.
- 1:22:27Speaker 29: You know, those are always difficult decisions, and again we
- 1:22:31Speaker 29: we're gonna We're gonna do everything we can to support Andy.
- 1:22:35Speaker 29: And then he knows he got to make him That's
- 1:22:37Speaker 29: that's a job of the kicker, you know, that's you
- 1:22:39Speaker 29: got to make him so and I expect that he will.
- 1:22:44Speaker 25: Josh Jobs sett him down. Mobility pets for the game free,
- 1:22:50Speaker 25: it's very open.
- 1:22:51Speaker 3: The other day, da let's get stumped.
- 1:22:54Speaker 1: Up and getting used at the time of land up,
- 1:22:57Speaker 1: and I asked a bunch of strategies.
- 1:22:58Speaker 22: That he can have from of the game.
- 1:23:00Speaker 29: For since the passboats up, do you help them to
- 1:23:03Speaker 29: the strategy to send something come to whether it's a
- 1:23:05Speaker 29: flight back.
- 1:23:06Speaker 25: Well, I mean, I think that you have to again,
- 1:23:09Speaker 25: you have to prepare.
- 1:23:10Speaker 29: Each player prepares differently for that game and how you
- 1:23:15Speaker 29: what your emotion level is going into that game, and
- 1:23:18Speaker 29: how it starts, and you know, I think that there's
- 1:23:21Speaker 29: always something to be said for you know, getting into
- 1:23:23Speaker 29: a rhythm, you know, I mean, we can't throw a
- 1:23:26Speaker 29: bunch of two yard routes to start the game. But
- 1:23:29Speaker 29: I think that it's just getting into a rhythm and
- 1:23:31Speaker 29: a flow. And you know the warm up, you know
- 1:23:35Speaker 29: how how guys warm up. Some guys go and warm up,
- 1:23:39Speaker 29: warm up a few hours before the game, come back in,
- 1:23:41Speaker 29: settle down. Some guys, uh, you know, kind of just
- 1:23:45Speaker 29: roll on out there. But it's all about finding your
- 1:23:47Speaker 29: own individual routine that will allow each and every one
- 1:23:52Speaker 29: of them to perform at a high level.
- 1:23:54Speaker 25: When we start the game.
- 1:23:55Speaker 29: We can't wait to the second quarter to to feel comfortable.
- 1:24:03Speaker 1: And now great moments in.
- 1:24:07Speaker 3: History, have any resolution as to how it's going to
- 1:24:10Speaker 3: be for everybody, you know, us, you know, continue on
- 1:24:13Speaker 3: inside baseball. What do you mean from where are we
- 1:24:15Speaker 3: going to be? Where we're gonna be? What are we
- 1:24:17Speaker 3: gonna do? You just say that yesterday you said you
- 1:24:20Speaker 3: didn't know exactly how that was gonna basically.
- 1:24:21Speaker 1: Said, those who were in the red press box blue blue,
- 1:24:24Speaker 1: I mean we're blue. Oh, he's gonna those who are
- 1:24:27Speaker 1: in the blue corona practical in house will be in
- 1:24:29Speaker 1: the blue press box.
- 1:24:30Speaker 3: But are they going to do spacing up there so
- 1:24:33Speaker 3: we're not going to be crowded.
- 1:24:35Speaker 16: And there's gonna be no visiting answering his question?
- 1:24:38Speaker 3: Seriously for me, it just blew me right.
- 1:24:40Speaker 1: Off, Eric, You'll be spaced out as normal. That's another
- 1:24:45Speaker 1: great moment from all right back here and Patriots shows
- 1:24:52Speaker 1: A five five past five hundred. Is the hotline podcasts

- 1:25:39Speaker 1: lots of people calling in. Uh, let's see what they
- 1:25:42Speaker 1: have to say. We'll start with Brian, who is in Arizona.
- 1:25:47Speaker 1: What's up, Brian?
- 1:25:49Speaker 9: Hi, y'all doing this morning? Well, it's good afternoon to
- 1:25:52Speaker 9: you all right, y'all doing this morning?
- 1:25:54Speaker 1: Good?
- 1:25:54Speaker 9: Yeah, I wanted to talk about the Rivalry apparel. It
- 1:25:59Speaker 9: is magnific and it's beautiful. Anybody who say they don't
- 1:26:03Speaker 9: like this apparel, it's something wrong with its wrong. It's amazing.
- 1:26:08Speaker 9: And the hoodie with the zipper, I have to have it.
- 1:26:11Speaker 9: But I am gonna say I'm a little jealous because
- 1:26:14Speaker 9: you'll able to Wood It's apparero and I don't have
- 1:26:17Speaker 9: it yet, So I am jealous. But I love the apparel.
- 1:26:21Speaker 9: It is beautiful and represent the patriots since I've been
- 1:26:24Speaker 9: in Arizona, and I will continue. Thank you for having
- 1:26:29Speaker 9: me or at least for me being able to get
- 1:26:31Speaker 9: in because I've been trying to get through here for
- 1:26:34Speaker 9: the longest and I'm finally being able to get through.
- 1:26:37Speaker 9: I'm recording this and keep it for my personal record.
- 1:26:40Speaker 1: Ha.
- 1:26:42Speaker 9: Yes, this is gonna be our year. We're gonna do better.
- 1:26:45Speaker 9: Just fill in a couple of spots he in there,
- 1:26:47Speaker 9: but this is gonna be our turnaround here, all right?
- 1:26:50Speaker 1: Well, thanks Brian. September tenth is when you can get
- 1:26:53Speaker 1: your hoodie with the zipper, and once you do, send
- 1:26:55Speaker 1: us your picture with it on.
- 1:26:57Speaker 12: We should have made special edition podcast shirts this call there, and.
- 1:27:00Speaker 3: Brian, if it makes you feel any better, we'll do that.
- 1:27:03Speaker 3: We're not allowed to keep this stuff. We have to
- 1:27:04Speaker 3: give it back.
- 1:27:05Speaker 1: Yeah, we have to give it back to the show. Yeah,
- 1:27:07Speaker 1: I'd love to have stuff to give away, but maybe
- 1:27:10Speaker 1: in a future show, maybe on September tenth. So they
- 1:27:14Speaker 1: usually do like limited runs of this stuff to kind
- 1:27:16Speaker 1: of create the demand. But and you probably had to
- 1:27:21Speaker 1: order it like five years ago. The way Nike works,
- 1:27:26Speaker 1: it's it's it's tough, Paul, It's tough. Tony's on the
- 1:27:31Speaker 1: Tony's on the Cape. What's up Tony?
- 1:27:34Speaker 18: For a long time season ticket hold up? Great, the
- 1:27:37Speaker 18: new the new jersey's the back of Paul's you had
- 1:27:42Speaker 18: held it up. Does that get a red Patriots thing
- 1:27:46Speaker 18: on the back?
- 1:27:46Speaker 1: I well, let's see. Yeah, it's got the Patriots, uh
- 1:27:52Speaker 1: with the with the Elvis logo? Yeah?
- 1:27:55Speaker 18: Do they if they're making a bomber.
- 1:27:58Speaker 1: Jacket, yeah, Evan Evan had.
- 1:28:01Speaker 12: It was a cloth material.
- 1:28:02Speaker 11: It wasn't quite like a jackety like a traditional bomber
- 1:28:07Speaker 11: jacket material, but.
- 1:28:08Speaker 1: Yeah, it was like a bomber jacket. It had the
- 1:28:10Speaker 1: you know, the cuffs and the collar.
- 1:28:13Speaker 18: Because yep. The reason I asked is we got a
- 1:28:17Speaker 18: thing for the Patriots back about a month ago. The
- 1:28:22Speaker 18: season ticket holders are all getting a jacket this year,
- 1:28:25Speaker 18: and you had to give them a size. I just
- 1:28:28Speaker 18: wondered if it's in the new color.
- 1:28:29Speaker 1: I don't know. I don't know it.
- 1:28:34Speaker 18: Yeah, I think it still shop. But the only thing
- 1:28:37Speaker 18: I would have done different I might have put a
- 1:28:38Speaker 18: little red around the new England.
- 1:28:42Speaker 1: Okay, you might make it, yeah, just to pop a
- 1:28:45Speaker 1: little bit. Okay, yeah, yeah, okay.
- 1:28:49Speaker 18: Red in the back of Paul's thing. When you held
- 1:28:52Speaker 18: that up earlier, I know that it made it seemed
- 1:28:55Speaker 18: to pop a little more.
- 1:28:56Speaker 1: Okay, little red detail, I got you, Tony, all right,
- 1:29:00Speaker 1: thank you for the call. Longtime season ticket holder. Yeah,
- 1:29:04Speaker 1: every year, if you're a season ticket holder, you get
- 1:29:07Speaker 1: some type of present. I guess this year they're getting
- 1:29:09Speaker 1: winter jackets.
- 1:29:11Speaker 12: Is a pretty good one. I like the blankets from
- 1:29:13Speaker 12: a couple of years ago.
- 1:29:15Speaker 1: Vinnie's in Vegas. What's up, Vinnie?
- 1:29:18Speaker 10: Hey, guys, how's it going good? You know, I apologize
- 1:29:23Speaker 10: if you guys spoke about this earlier. You know I
- 1:29:25Speaker 10: was able to log in a little later.
- 1:29:29Speaker 27: Uh.
- 1:29:29Speaker 10: I have a couple of questions for you guys. The
- 1:29:31Speaker 10: first one is is it time for us to start
- 1:29:34Speaker 10: worrying about the cornerbacks because of the injuries? And the
- 1:29:41Speaker 10: second question is is there any benefit of keeping two
- 1:29:47Speaker 10: guys like you know, Born and Baker and then releasing
- 1:29:52Speaker 10: him the next day? I mean, is there any anything
- 1:29:54Speaker 10: to do with that or is it just how it rolls?
- 1:29:57Speaker 3: So I'll take the second one. We did talk a
- 1:30:00Speaker 3: bit about Gonzales earlier in the show, and we're starting
- 1:30:02Speaker 3: to get a little concerns that he's still not on
- 1:30:05Speaker 3: the practice field. But I guess we'll reserve till next week,
- 1:30:09Speaker 3: which is actual game week before we get too worked
- 1:30:13Speaker 3: up about it. But the roster thing, to me, is
- 1:30:16Speaker 3: more procedural, and they ended up claiming a couple of
- 1:30:20Speaker 3: players off waivers that obviously you don't know you're going
- 1:30:23Speaker 3: to be able to do beforehand, and that's where the
- 1:30:25Speaker 3: roster spots came from. And with Bourne, it certainly seems
- 1:30:31Speaker 3: that there's enough smoke around a potential trade that they
- 1:30:34Speaker 3: had in the works and it fell through. So I
- 1:30:39Speaker 3: think that's why you saw Born and Baker originally on
- 1:30:42Speaker 3: the roster, and then you get you get a couple
- 1:30:44Speaker 3: of waiver claims, so now they know, you know the
- 1:30:47Speaker 3: direction they want to go. You know, you have a
- 1:30:50Speaker 3: surplus of wide receivers. So that made a lot of sense.
- 1:30:52Speaker 1: When is the actual trade deadline?
- 1:30:54Speaker 3: It's like early yeah, yeah, it's like yeah, it's like
- 1:30:58Speaker 3: eight weeks in, nine we into the season now, so
- 1:31:01Speaker 3: pushed it back a little bit, you know.
- 1:31:02Speaker 1: That was like, yeah, kind of November fourth, So kind
- 1:31:07Speaker 1: of like the thing about cut day is and I
- 1:31:09Speaker 1: was I texted Evan because they were doing Catch twenty
- 1:31:12Speaker 1: two and during the show the Born news broke, and
- 1:31:18Speaker 1: you know, I texted him, I said, this is a
- 1:31:21Speaker 1: great example that cut day is just a formality. It's
- 1:31:24Speaker 1: just a day by which you have to get down
- 1:31:26Speaker 1: to fifty three. But once that happens, you're still free
- 1:31:30Speaker 1: to cut and bring guys in and you know, sign
- 1:31:33Speaker 1: them off the street, make trades with other teams right
- 1:31:36Speaker 1: up to November fourth, you know, so the roster's fluid. Yeah,
- 1:31:41Speaker 1: you know.
- 1:31:42Speaker 3: So before we went to break, I was doing the
- 1:31:45Speaker 3: James White thing and I just wanted to, you know,
- 1:31:48Speaker 3: finish that up. James White in college at at Wisconsin.
- 1:31:53Speaker 3: First of all, you had forty eight career touchdowns at Wisconsin,
- 1:31:57Speaker 3: but it seemed just going with his senior year, you
- 1:31:59Speaker 3: had fourteen hundred and forty four yards rushing over six
- 1:32:02Speaker 3: and a half yards to carry thirteen touchdowns. Plus he
- 1:32:05Speaker 3: caught thirty nine balls for three hundred more yards in
- 1:32:07Speaker 3: a couple of touchdowns. So just telling you what James
- 1:32:11Speaker 3: White was coming out of college. What he ended up
- 1:32:13Speaker 3: being is not as dynamic as what we've seen so
- 1:32:15Speaker 3: far from chevy On Henderson. But in college he was
- 1:32:20Speaker 3: He was better than trevy On Henderson that Wisconsin, and
- 1:32:23Speaker 3: Henderson was an excellent player. Don't get me wrong, but
- 1:32:27Speaker 3: I think people sort of look and they see, like
- 1:32:30Speaker 3: what White ended up being was like this reliable first
- 1:32:33Speaker 3: down you know, chain mover, but he was more than
- 1:32:36Speaker 3: that coming out of college. Yeah, that's what he ended
- 1:32:39Speaker 3: up being. We'll see what Henderson ends up being.
- 1:32:42Speaker 1: You know. And there were a couple of games, you
- 1:32:44Speaker 1: know that I can remember where White, because of circumstances,
- 1:32:48Speaker 1: had to be the lead back. Sometimes it happened during
- 1:32:50Speaker 1: a game because somebody would go down. He wasn't dynamic
- 1:32:54Speaker 1: in that role. He really wasn't, you know.
- 1:32:58Speaker 3: No, he didn't have he did not have the high
- 1:33:00Speaker 3: end speed that Henderson has. Yeah, I would say Henderson
- 1:33:03Speaker 3: right now has more potential to be a big play threat,
- 1:33:07Speaker 3: But I don't know if he's going to be what
- 1:33:10Speaker 3: what White was. I mean White was why was really good?
- 1:33:13Speaker 1: Yeah, Yeah, it was so reliable and if you needed
- 1:33:17Speaker 1: those that extra yard, he figured out how to get it.
- 1:33:21Speaker 1: He was tough to bring down.
- 1:33:22Speaker 3: Henderson had forty two touchdowns at Ohio State. Like this
- 1:33:26Speaker 3: is like White was on par with Henderson.
- 1:33:28Speaker 11: Yeah, I think he's just recency bias in Ohio State
- 1:33:31Speaker 11: one yep.
- 1:33:34Speaker 1: Yeah. And over the years, like a lot of running
- 1:33:38Speaker 1: backs out of Wisconsin, like they had really good college careers,
- 1:33:43Speaker 1: but never did what they did in college and the
- 1:33:45Speaker 1: pros like Monty Ball, for example.
- 1:33:47Speaker 3: You know Wisconsin guys.
- 1:33:50Speaker 1: Wisconsin running backs because they always have great offensive lines
- 1:33:53Speaker 1: in Wisconsin.
- 1:33:54Speaker 3: Ron Dayne, Ron Dayne. Yep, Monty Ball. That's a good one.
- 1:33:59Speaker 3: Like Elvin Gordon was pretty good though.
- 1:34:00Speaker 1: Yeah. I like Melvin Gordon. I like him.
- 1:34:04Speaker 3: AJ Wisconsin tight in the head. Hey, are you ever amazed.
- 1:34:08Speaker 12: To recall aritible.
- 1:34:12Speaker 1: Wisconsin?
- 1:34:13Speaker 3: You just looked at me like Beth would like with this,
- 1:34:15Speaker 3: just disappointed looking.
- 1:34:16Speaker 12: How do you know that's disappointment? Just bewilderment, a little
- 1:34:19Speaker 12: bit bewilderment.
- 1:34:21Speaker 1: AJ from the Bay Area. New uniforms are cool personally.
- 1:34:25Speaker 1: I'm just encouraged to see the faintest trace of uniform
- 1:34:28Speaker 1: creativity from the Patriots. I just hope this signal is
- 1:34:31Speaker 1: a permanent, gradual transition from gray to white helmets.
- 1:34:35Speaker 4: Mm hmm.
- 1:34:36Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:34:36Speaker 3: I people are universally in love with that.
- 1:34:39Speaker 1: I love the helmet. I still like for an alternate
- 1:34:42Speaker 1: jersey or alternate uniform. I'd love to see the traditional
- 1:34:46Speaker 1: white with the traditional elvis. I think that would really
- 1:34:49Speaker 1: look cool like gloss. Yeah, and then have a red,
- 1:34:53Speaker 1: have a red to go with that, right, So I mean,
- 1:34:59Speaker 1: you know, and due time, there'll be plenty of alternate
- 1:35:02Speaker 1: uniforms for all these teams because it's money and the
- 1:35:06Speaker 1: fans like choices. So uh, Matt in Rochester, New York
- 1:35:14Speaker 1: love the Rivalry uniforms. I think this shade of blue
- 1:35:18Speaker 1: is really cool for one game. My hope we take
- 1:35:21Speaker 1: this concept style and make it our main jersey next
- 1:35:24Speaker 1: year with the current Navy color scheme. Keep the white
- 1:35:28Speaker 1: pants in white helmet, and it'll be huge improvement over
- 1:35:31Speaker 1: our current awful uniforms. Question any idea when the captains
- 1:35:35Speaker 1: will be announced? Predictions on who they will be?
- 1:35:39Speaker 3: I don't know when they will be announced. It's hard
- 1:35:42Speaker 3: for me to Before the season you get a new coach.
- 1:35:45Speaker 11: Yeah, Bill used to always do it. What that last
- 1:35:47Speaker 11: week of practice before week one?
- 1:35:49Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 1:35:49Speaker 3: But I also had an idea of who Bill was
- 1:35:51Speaker 3: going to be, sorry, who they were going to have
- 1:35:52Speaker 3: for captains.
- 1:35:53Speaker 12: Right, yeah? Like will able to do a vote or
- 1:35:56Speaker 12: will he just appoint them?
- 1:35:58Speaker 3: And I don't know if he actually does it, do
- 1:36:01Speaker 3: you know what I mean? Like with Bill, I kind
- 1:36:02Speaker 3: of knew how it was going to unfold.
- 1:36:05Speaker 1: After a while you put his thumb on the scale.
- 1:36:07Speaker 3: Oh, I know he did, But I don't know if
- 1:36:09Speaker 3: Rabel just leaves it completely up to the players and
- 1:36:12Speaker 3: when that happens to me, if it's strictly a player
- 1:36:15Speaker 3: vote and that's like there's no thumb on the scale
- 1:36:18Speaker 3: to use your analogy, I think it's completely unpredictable. Who
- 1:36:24Speaker 3: knows who the players think of that way.
- 1:36:27Speaker 1: Tyler in New York wants to know if are the
- 1:36:29Speaker 1: details on the apparel where you're wearing stitched or screen
- 1:36:33Speaker 1: printed stitched? So, well, this is I mean, this is heat,
- 1:36:37Speaker 1: but it's not flat. It's raised raised stitch and Nike
- 1:36:43Speaker 1: stat stitch.
- 1:36:43Speaker 3: In the in the NFL logo here and this is Yeah,
- 1:36:46Speaker 3: it's not like there was one one of those shirts
- 1:36:49Speaker 3: had it like screened.
- 1:36:51Speaker 1: Yeah, so this is like sewed on on the edge. Yeah,
- 1:36:54Speaker 1: it's sowed on, but it's like rubber. Yeah, you know,
- 1:36:58Speaker 1: so it's raised.
- 1:37:01Speaker 3: I'm not gonna applica, I mean.
- 1:37:02Speaker 12: Yeah, I don't know.
- 1:37:03Speaker 3: I'm not going to protect anything.
- 1:37:04Speaker 11: Application applica is That's what I think I was going for.
- 1:37:09Speaker 3: Can I just have one I'll do one prediction for
- 1:37:12Speaker 3: a captain rocket Splaine. Yeah, I'm going to predict Robert
- 1:37:16Speaker 3: sp well he better be. Yeah, that's a bad sign
- 1:37:20Speaker 3: if he's not the captain.
- 1:37:21Speaker 1: Right, So there's two.
- 1:37:23Speaker 12: But I'm just gonna Henry.
- 1:37:24Speaker 3: Maybe Henry was a captain. I believe last year was.
- 1:37:28Speaker 11: Two years still then drawed the draw year Hunter was
- 1:37:33Speaker 11: not a captain, but then there were so many captain
- 1:37:36Speaker 11: casualties that Hunter was then appointed again as captain. And
- 1:37:40Speaker 11: I always thought that was a little awkward. Okay, and
- 1:37:43Speaker 11: I think Douggar was also appointed after Bentley and Pep
- 1:37:48Speaker 11: went down.
- 1:37:49Speaker 12: I don't know.
- 1:37:49Speaker 11: Last year was a bad year for captains, name Vid Andrews.
- 1:37:54Speaker 12: They all all of them, favor for Cardon.
- 1:37:57Speaker 1: Bentley was a captain, he got hurt. Hurt Ellen Wisconsin
- 1:38:01Speaker 1: love the new uniforms. Everyone can have their grites with
- 1:38:04Speaker 1: certain parts, but as an overall product, they think it
- 1:38:06Speaker 1: looks great. Best Elvis has ever looked on a helmet.
- 1:38:09Speaker 1: But with how good that any logo looks, I'd be
- 1:38:12Speaker 1: happy with just having that as the main logo going forward.
- 1:38:17Speaker 1: Oh that's a bold take.
- 1:38:18Speaker 3: It kind of like it. Yeah, I kind of like
- 1:38:22Speaker 3: that take.
- 1:38:22Speaker 1: Yeah, okay, all right, I'm with it.
- 1:38:29Speaker 12: I want it on a hat.
- 1:38:30Speaker 3: What if you put that on the helmet?
- 1:38:34Speaker 1: I think that would look cool too, you.
- 1:38:35Speaker 3: Know, kind of like the n Y and the Giants.
- 1:38:37Speaker 11: Yeah, you should have Devin and Stitch just print out
- 1:38:41Speaker 11: a decal just for fun, just to show us what
- 1:38:42Speaker 11: it would look like.
- 1:38:43Speaker 1: And then you do that. Oh no, you look like
- 1:38:45Speaker 1: the Giants. You can't win, you can't.
- 1:38:47Speaker 3: Well, we look like the Titans now, so Claire Wrights
- 1:38:50Speaker 3: in Hello everyone, hanover.
- 1:38:51Speaker 1: Reen. I love Alex, but I gotta disagree. I'm good
- 1:38:55Speaker 1: with jerseys, even on grown ass men.
- 1:38:58Speaker 12: Reach their own. Claire also hold that against you.
- 1:39:01Speaker 1: I do like the rivalry un rivalries.
- 1:39:04Speaker 3: Uniforms a difficult word to say, rivalry, like you have
- 1:39:08Speaker 3: to sort of think about it when Yeah.
- 1:39:10Speaker 1: I definitely agree. The sideline apparel is lush. Can't wait
- 1:39:14Speaker 1: to hopefully get hold of some any ideas of anything
- 1:39:17Speaker 1: that will be review released in women's fit and sizes. Well,
- 1:39:21Speaker 1: we do have the crop.
- 1:39:22Speaker 12: Yeah, it was that crop crew neck.
- 1:39:25Speaker 11: It's not like a full crop either, Like it's not
- 1:39:27Speaker 11: a belly shirt. It's probably it's probably gonna fall at
- 1:39:30Speaker 11: I'd say, like the top of your hip bone.
- 1:39:32Speaker 1: Middrift. They call it middrift.
- 1:39:35Speaker 11: Yeah, like right under the I think I'd imagine it
- 1:39:37Speaker 11: fell right under the belly button.
- 1:39:38Speaker 1: So if anyone from the Pro shops watching or listening
- 1:39:41Speaker 1: and you want to call in and give us more
- 1:39:43Speaker 1: details on some other stuff that we didn't show that
- 1:39:46Speaker 1: might become available for sideline stuff, let us know.
- 1:39:51Speaker 3: You know, we have to drop your reach ken right.
- 1:39:58Speaker 1: We always used to try to call let me. Never picked.
- 1:40:02Speaker 19: Him.
- 1:40:04Speaker 1: We just called the pro Shop and we'd get his
- 1:40:05Speaker 1: voice to be in charge of. We used to play
- 1:40:07Speaker 1: that who was a bit.
- 1:40:08Speaker 3: He was a great guy and we used to always
- 1:40:11Speaker 3: bring calling him on the show.
- 1:40:14Speaker 1: Yeah, sure, get him on the line. We should do
- 1:40:16Speaker 1: that with people around the office.
- 1:40:18Speaker 12: We should thing ditch people.
- 1:40:19Speaker 1: Yeah, not ditch him, like see if they answer and
- 1:40:22Speaker 1: then put them on.
- 1:40:23Speaker 12: I'm with it. Who do you start with?
- 1:40:25Speaker 3: What would you do here?
- 1:40:27Speaker 12: I would call Tip.
- 1:40:29Speaker 1: Tip, Yeah, that would be good.
- 1:40:31Speaker 12: We would wake him up from his nap. His feet
- 1:40:33Speaker 12: would be on his desk, Like, what are you call
- 1:40:35Speaker 12: him for?
- 1:40:37Speaker 1: How about we'll call Robert Kraft.
- 1:40:39Speaker 11: I don't have that line, but I'm sure you do.
- 1:40:45Speaker 12: If you want to.
- 1:40:47Speaker 1: Uh, Yeah, who would like be most put off or not?
- 1:40:52Speaker 1: Put off, but like, rat, what are you doing? Yeah, Karen, Yeah,
- 1:40:58Speaker 1: that would be a good one from.
- 1:41:03Speaker 12: Someone from the video team like Bradley would probably get flustered. Yeah,
- 1:41:08Speaker 12: it could be a fun bit.
- 1:41:10Speaker 1: All right, let's see Curtis in Saint Louis. I'm liking
- 1:41:19Speaker 1: the new rivalry line. It's different, it's traditional looking. I
- 1:41:23Speaker 1: do have a problem with the color. I agree with
- 1:41:26Speaker 1: Paul and the helmets looking a little like the Titans,
- 1:41:28Speaker 1: But overall, I'm a fan. I will definitely be purchasing
- 1:41:31Speaker 1: that zip up hoodie. Would love to see a ball
- 1:41:34Speaker 1: cap to match. My only critique on the jerseys are
- 1:41:38Speaker 1: the red stars around the collar, but overall I'm looking
- 1:41:41Speaker 1: forward to see them in action. I like the red stars,
- 1:41:44Speaker 1: you know, because you're looking for that red pop. Like
- 1:41:45Speaker 1: one of the callers said.
- 1:41:47Speaker 12: First color the ICs red.
- 1:41:48Speaker 1: Yeah, so there's six of them. Represents two things, the
- 1:41:52Speaker 1: six Super Bowl trophies and the six New England states.
- 1:41:56Speaker 1: So you know, we're the only team that represents a
- 1:41:59Speaker 1: whole region.
- 1:41:59Speaker 12: Paul, what about the Carolina Panthers?
- 1:42:02Speaker 1: Is that a region?
- 1:42:02Speaker 12: It's not a region. But I decided to.
- 1:42:06Speaker 3: Sit that one out because the Carolina Panthers not the
- 1:42:09Speaker 3: North Carolina, right, that's true.
- 1:42:11Speaker 11: The most basic sense of the word region, Like, yeah,
- 1:42:14Speaker 11: it's a region. It's not an official region of the
- 1:42:17Speaker 11: United States like New England is, but it's a region
- 1:42:21Speaker 11: that's a part of it.
- 1:42:22Speaker 3: I also would say, much like the Carolina really, what
- 1:42:26Speaker 3: Fred really the Charlotte Charlotte's Yeah, much like the Patriots
- 1:42:30Speaker 3: are really the Boston Patriots.
- 1:42:32Speaker 12: But that's just my well, I launch, well, the Panthers
- 1:42:36Speaker 12: are in Charlotte.
- 1:42:36Speaker 1: Yeah, but I can't be a h.
- 1:42:37Speaker 3: No, no, I know that, But the Patriots.
- 1:42:40Speaker 1: I can't be a hypocrite about that. The Patriots can't
- 1:42:43Speaker 1: call themselves Boston.
- 1:42:44Speaker 3: It was a petty squabble, you know, fifty years ago, just.
- 1:42:47Speaker 1: Like New Jersey can't call themselves New York.
- 1:42:51Speaker 3: It wasn't just like marketing because I couldn't end up
- 1:42:55Speaker 3: getting Billy Sullivan couldn't get the stadium in Boston, Okay,
- 1:42:58Speaker 3: and he pouted.
- 1:43:00Speaker 12: I think it worked out for marketing purposes.
- 1:43:02Speaker 3: Now you have look at this six.
- 1:43:04Speaker 1: States, so I guess who's back.
- 1:43:12Speaker 2: Look what was the mood players friendly to? What was like?
- 1:43:27Speaker 5: Is that am Locker?
- 1:43:30Speaker 1: That is the best return song? So sorry, yeah it
- 1:43:35Speaker 1: is it really is. So Evan induced are back from
- 1:43:38Speaker 1: open locker room, tell us what the mood is.
- 1:43:41Speaker 6: The mood is, let's get out of here and get
- 1:43:43Speaker 6: on vacation was generally what the move was a lot
- 1:43:45Speaker 6: of players getting out of.
- 1:43:45Speaker 5: There quick weekend.
- 1:43:47Speaker 6: I did hear from Tommy DeVito, Uh, spoke at his locker,
- 1:43:51Speaker 6: so it was good to hear.
- 1:43:51Speaker 3: Did anybody he was asked about the north front of
- 1:43:54Speaker 3: the voice? Oh voice, anybody like ask questions?
- 1:43:59Speaker 6: No, no, no, no, but it was a voice like,
- 1:44:01Speaker 6: so north end.
- 1:44:03Speaker 3: So you're Italian? Huh.
- 1:44:04Speaker 4: We did ask somebody did ask if mom is coming,
- 1:44:08Speaker 4: and Mom is not coming. She's going to stay in
- 1:44:10Speaker 4: New Jersey. So he's going to live on his own.
- 1:44:12Speaker 4: He said, big're gonna have chicken parma. But he said again,
- 1:44:17Speaker 4: so I'm assuming college probably was was on his own
- 1:44:20Speaker 4: as well, so he's not his first rodeo. But there
- 1:44:23Speaker 4: were a lot of jokes about our Italian food here
- 1:44:27Speaker 4: in the Boston area and how much he's going to
- 1:44:30Speaker 4: enjoy it, that sort of thing.
- 1:44:32Speaker 6: The football stuff was kind of interesting, Like he said,
- 1:44:34Speaker 6: he kind of had a like he kind of had
- 1:44:36Speaker 6: a feeling that it might happen, especially you mentioned the
- 1:44:38Speaker 6: Patriots being fourth in the pecking order, so I'm not
- 1:44:42Speaker 6: sure what that inkling was. But he seemed very excited
- 1:44:45Speaker 6: to be here and said his agent we all know,
- 1:44:47Speaker 6: called him up and told them and they were they
- 1:44:49Speaker 6: were fired up about it. So, yeah, he seems happy
- 1:44:51Speaker 6: to be here.
- 1:44:52Speaker 1: Interesting.
- 1:44:53Speaker 4: Yeah, he mentioned, you know, some of the overlap with
- 1:44:56Speaker 4: the front office, Ryan Cowden being in New York for
- 1:44:59Speaker 4: a little while and then Brian Dable being a former
- 1:45:02Speaker 4: Patriots assistant. So he said, there's people in the Giants
- 1:45:05Speaker 4: organization that have spent time here, so that he had
- 1:45:08Speaker 4: some feedback of what exactly it was going to be
- 1:45:12Speaker 4: like here and things like that, and some overlap with
- 1:45:14Speaker 4: the offenses with Dabell and Josh McDaniels. So there was
- 1:45:18Speaker 4: some football stuff in there. Wasn't all just jokes.
- 1:45:21Speaker 5: The jokes and his mom.
- 1:45:23Speaker 1: Yeah, appropriate.
- 1:45:23Speaker 6: But Anthony Jennings was also in the locker room, so
- 1:45:26Speaker 6: he was not at practice. I wonder what's going on
- 1:45:29Speaker 6: with roster juggling, so he was in the locker room.
- 1:45:31Speaker 6: Didn't happen to catch Javon Baker.
- 1:45:33Speaker 4: Did talk to Jennings yesterday, it was Yeah, I briefly
- 1:45:38Speaker 4: talked to him and he's he said, he's ready to go.
- 1:45:41Speaker 5: Yeah, a Patriot.
- 1:45:44Speaker 6: But they don't have any names above the lockers right now,
- 1:45:46Speaker 6: there's no there's just Patriot logos.
- 1:45:48Speaker 1: So those are digital anyway.
- 1:45:50Speaker 6: Right right, it can change them at any point.
- 1:45:52Speaker 5: Just yesterday and today was the first time I've.
- 1:45:54Speaker 12: Been or anything.
- 1:45:56Speaker 6: It's just Patriots.
- 1:45:58Speaker 4: Quite confusing, I have to say, the last couple of days,
- 1:46:01Speaker 4: I've been just trying to figure out where everybody is
- 1:46:03Speaker 4: is situated. But the one thing that I also have noticed,
- 1:46:07Speaker 4: we've talked a lot about Morgan Moses and like he's
- 1:46:10Speaker 4: just going to bring up Morgan most so you do it.
- 1:46:14Speaker 4: It's amazing, the same things my best friends. So yeah,
- 1:46:17Speaker 4: Morgan Moses just seems like he's just like always in
- 1:46:21Speaker 4: a good mood and like holding court and chatting up guys,
- 1:46:25Speaker 4: whether even guys like out of his position group. It's
- 1:46:28Speaker 4: not just the offensive lineman. He's like shouting across the
- 1:46:30Speaker 4: locker room at kylevon Chase on like hey, Kse, what's up?
- 1:46:35Speaker 4: You know, like things like that. And captains should be
- 1:46:37Speaker 4: relatively soon, maybe sometime early next week. I would think
- 1:46:41Speaker 4: some teams have already announced theirs and you just wonder
- 1:46:44Speaker 4: if Morgan Moses is going to be We.
- 1:46:46Speaker 1: Were talking about that funny that you know, just before
- 1:46:49Speaker 1: you came, and we said, you know, make May logical. Yeah,
- 1:46:52Speaker 1: Bobby Splane probably.
- 1:46:54Speaker 3: That was my pick. Yeah, plain.
- 1:46:57Speaker 1: So, and you're just thinking that for me, you're thinking
- 1:46:59Speaker 1: more and Moses might. Yeah.
- 1:47:01Speaker 4: I would say Morgan Moses may. Maybe Hunter Henry on
- 1:47:05Speaker 4: the offensive side. Defensively, Spallaine makes a lot of sense.
- 1:47:10Speaker 3: Uh, he's not.
- 1:47:11Speaker 4: Like a raw raw leader, but like Harold Landry maybe
- 1:47:14Speaker 4: just as a rabel guy up there as well. I
- 1:47:17Speaker 4: don't know about the third one, but those guys and
- 1:47:20Speaker 4: then I expect Schooler to be a special terms captain,
- 1:47:24Speaker 4: but it will it'll be interesting to see you. Also,
- 1:47:27Speaker 4: you know some things like locker positioning and things like that.
- 1:47:32Speaker 4: There's always that one locker in the corner that's right
- 1:47:34Speaker 4: by the door that's extremely important.
- 1:47:36Speaker 1: And Patriots the sheriff.
- 1:47:39Speaker 4: Yeah, so I think mcguinnis was there right for a while.
- 1:47:42Speaker 4: I know my time High Tower used to be there,
- 1:47:44Speaker 4: Bentley used to be there. That is now Harold Landry's locker.
- 1:47:49Speaker 4: So if that means anything in terms of captains, maybe
- 1:47:53Speaker 4: he's right there. In the corner on the way in.
- 1:47:56Speaker 6: So I noticed the same thing I haven't did with Moses.
- 1:47:58Speaker 6: I saw him just cutting it up with Kadan Waugh
- 1:48:00Speaker 6: and just they've known each other now for a few months,
- 1:48:03Speaker 6: but it's just you can see that he's clearly taken
- 1:48:05Speaker 6: a leadership role with some of these young guys like
- 1:48:07Speaker 6: Kiden Wallas, who kind of the last man standing from
- 1:48:09Speaker 6: some of.
- 1:48:10Speaker 5: The draft picks they've had.
- 1:48:11Speaker 6: And yeah, I also say, I really like Morgans had
- 1:48:13Speaker 6: a lay Miz shirt on, so like, good, good choice,
- 1:48:16Speaker 6: love Miss.
- 1:48:16Speaker 4: It just feels like some of the guys like Jared
- 1:48:19Speaker 4: Wilson was sort of in his orbit as well, just
- 1:48:21Speaker 4: like kind of like hanging out with Morgan Moses, Like
- 1:48:24Speaker 4: I feel like a lot of the younger guys are
- 1:48:25Speaker 4: already gravitated towards him and are just kind.
- 1:48:28Speaker 1: Of So would you say wearing a lay Miz T shirt?
- 1:48:32Speaker 1: Is uh a good sign that vrabel is building culture
- 1:48:37Speaker 1: on the team.
- 1:48:39Speaker 6: Yeah, there's a culture in the culture.
- 1:48:44Speaker 3: I'm still trying to figure out why it's a positive
- 1:48:46Speaker 3: that he had a Lame Miss show.
- 1:48:47Speaker 1: It's a great show.
- 1:48:48Speaker 6: It's a great I like the show, like the show
- 1:48:53Speaker 6: Cat's not a bunch of people dressed around as I'd
- 1:48:56Speaker 6: be like this guy is now.
- 1:48:56Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm with you. I like.
- 1:49:00Speaker 1: Playing in Boston.
- 1:49:01Speaker 3: I just don't know why that's a plus because.
- 1:49:03Speaker 5: I love wearing it.
- 1:49:05Speaker 12: Do you think you've seen it?
- 1:49:06Speaker 5: I was almost going to go.
- 1:49:08Speaker 6: Him about it so great?
- 1:49:14Speaker 3: I told you I saw it.
- 1:49:16Speaker 6: Fine, I mean, that's crazy what happens, right, I mean,
- 1:49:18Speaker 6: you know French Revolution.
- 1:49:20Speaker 1: Let's go all right, eight five five pats five hundred
- 1:49:25Speaker 1: before we get to the phones media, I.
- 1:49:28Speaker 4: Was was your contingent, solid.
- 1:49:30Speaker 6: Cares A lot of cameras, not a lot to shoot, Yeah,
- 1:49:33Speaker 6: a lot of people.
- 1:49:34Speaker 4: So we were we were waiting outside the in the
- 1:49:37Speaker 4: tunnel to go into the locker room, and there was
- 1:49:39Speaker 4: like a mad dash to go into the locker room
- 1:49:42Speaker 4: and so.
- 1:49:42Speaker 1: On, everyone like gets stuck at the door pretty much.
- 1:49:45Speaker 12: It's like Black Friday.
- 1:49:47Speaker 4: So somebody comes up to me and is like, what's
- 1:49:50Speaker 4: the big deal, And I was like the veto and
- 1:49:54Speaker 4: sure thing. I walk in and there's just fifty reporters
- 1:49:59Speaker 4: or on Tommy Tavido's locker and and they're waiting for
- 1:50:03Speaker 4: him there and he's walking in and I can see
- 1:50:05Speaker 4: the smile on his face like oh there there they
- 1:50:07Speaker 4: are waiting for it. So it was like a new player,
- 1:50:11Speaker 4: new quarterback comes on and the media you know, right right,
- 1:50:14Speaker 4: I'll grousing to get in there.
- 1:50:16Speaker 3: It was great.
- 1:50:16Speaker 5: He didn't have much time to Aaron. Aaron clamped it down.
- 1:50:19Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:50:19Speaker 4: Yeah, it was like five questions. It's mostly all by
- 1:50:21Speaker 4: Dan Road.
- 1:50:23Speaker 6: Kyle Went was just like like laughing at him when
- 1:50:24Speaker 6: he was walking, like, man, they're not here.
- 1:50:26Speaker 5: For me, like get over there. But it was good.
- 1:50:29Speaker 5: That was really it.
- 1:50:29Speaker 6: I mean a lot of guys just getting in getting
- 1:50:31Speaker 6: out for the.
- 1:50:32Speaker 5: For the long weekend.
- 1:50:33Speaker 6: They're off tomorrow, so a couple of days off for
- 1:50:35Speaker 6: these guys before.
- 1:50:36Speaker 5: All locked in on week one.
- 1:50:38Speaker 1: Okay, next year, you'll be in a brand new locker
- 1:50:41Speaker 1: room when you do this. It's gonna be a long
- 1:50:44Speaker 1: walk though, do so a little uh insight golf car.
- 1:50:47Speaker 1: I don't have any pictures and I can't tell you
- 1:50:50Speaker 1: anything specific, but I know they debuted the new lockers
- 1:50:55Speaker 1: that the guys will have privately so they could take
- 1:50:58Speaker 1: a look at the lockers that I'll have next year.
- 1:51:00Speaker 3: It's funny. I didn't even really think of that. Yeah,
- 1:51:03Speaker 3: that they the locker room itself is.
- 1:51:05Speaker 1: Going to be brand new way over well.
- 1:51:07Speaker 5: I think, and they'll still come back here for games
- 1:51:09Speaker 5: I guess.
- 1:51:10Speaker 3: Well that's the Yeah, they'll still keep this locker.
- 1:51:12Speaker 1: For game day, but during the week, all this open
- 1:51:15Speaker 1: locker room availability will be at the new facility as
- 1:51:18Speaker 1: well as the press cons.
- 1:51:19Speaker 4: So that's interesting because another little thing, Uh, the lockers
- 1:51:23Speaker 4: in the middle of the.
- 1:51:23Speaker 3: Locker room are still there.
- 1:51:24Speaker 1: Oh, they're still there, even though they took.
- 1:51:26Speaker 4: Trim their roster down. So in the past, the practice
- 1:51:28Speaker 4: squad guys would have the lockers in the back, and
- 1:51:30Speaker 4: they some of them would have to share lockers. And
- 1:51:33Speaker 4: so now maybe it's a rable thing that they're not
- 1:51:35Speaker 4: doing that. They have the portable lockers in the middle.
- 1:51:38Speaker 4: But I assume when they open the new facility they
- 1:51:41Speaker 4: probably will have enough lockers to not need these portable ones. Potentially,
- 1:51:45Speaker 4: I don't know. I don't know they have those still,
- 1:51:48Speaker 4: which I thought was interesting.
- 1:51:50Speaker 1: All right, let's get to the phones. Boston Creams on
- 1:51:54Speaker 1: the line, what's up, Boston Cream?
- 1:51:58Speaker 28: Your brain on something particularly snarky side?
- 1:52:01Speaker 3: Oh, I always say it for that.
- 1:52:04Speaker 28: So in two thousand, Belichick had fifty one players on
- 1:52:07Speaker 28: their roster, right, I'm not misremembering that.
- 1:52:09Speaker 3: I believe that that was the case. Yeah, you got
- 1:52:11Speaker 3: in trouble, but yeah, and he claimed they didn't feel
- 1:52:14Speaker 3: like they had fifty three NFL players.
- 1:52:17Speaker 28: So would would snarky Paul say that that was just
- 1:52:20Speaker 28: the tactic to say he's got his guys and to
- 1:52:23Speaker 28: show the NFL he can win with left.
- 1:52:25Speaker 3: No, no, no, I think you legitimately felt like you
- 1:52:29Speaker 3: didn't have fifty three players that he wanted to keep.
- 1:52:31Speaker 3: I think that's you know, I'm not saying that he
- 1:52:34Speaker 3: doesn't deserve a lot of credit for keeping four quarterbacks,
- 1:52:38Speaker 3: but that's one of the reasons he was able to
- 1:52:40Speaker 3: keep four quarterbacks, right, because he didn't feel like he
- 1:52:42Speaker 3: had NFL players. I mean they signed guys like literally
- 1:52:46Speaker 3: off the street that I think Sally Aseayah started like
- 1:52:50Speaker 3: the like off the street. Yeah, like they didn't. They
- 1:52:54Speaker 3: wasn't a very talented.
- 1:52:55Speaker 1: If you if you're looking for some type of like
- 1:52:58Speaker 1: motive behind not keeping full roster at first, if anything,
- 1:53:02Speaker 1: you might say he was just telling his owner and
- 1:53:04Speaker 1: maybe everybody else, I don't have a good.
- 1:53:07Speaker 3: Roster and they at the time, and I know this
- 1:53:10Speaker 3: is gonna come sound really hypocritical coming from me, But
- 1:53:13Speaker 3: at the time, the salary cap was a thing, and
- 1:53:16Speaker 3: they had a tough situation. They had some veterans like
- 1:53:20Speaker 3: Bruce Armstrong and Chris Slade, Max Lane I think was
- 1:53:26Speaker 3: still a round Aguinness. Those guys were kind of expensive.
- 1:53:31Speaker 3: Ben Kots would be another one, Mike, and they were,
- 1:53:34Speaker 3: you know, certainly on the back nine, and they needed
- 1:53:37Speaker 3: to sort of they rid the roster of some of
- 1:53:39Speaker 3: those guys. Some of them stayed, but most of them went.
- 1:53:43Speaker 3: And then he still he kept the nucleus of talent
- 1:53:46Speaker 3: that he had, which was excellent, you know, the tie Laws,
- 1:53:48Speaker 3: Teddy Bruski's lawyer, Malloy, ted Johnson, you know, William mc ginnis.
- 1:53:53Speaker 3: They still had a lot of good players and he
- 1:53:54Speaker 3: kept them. But I think it was just kind of
- 1:53:57Speaker 3: reworking the roster and trying to figure out how he
- 1:54:00Speaker 3: was going to and he didn't have a lot of
- 1:54:01Speaker 3: room to replace those guys because of the salary cap
- 1:54:04Speaker 3: at the time was much more restrictive.
- 1:54:07Speaker 1: H James is in North Carolina.
- 1:54:09Speaker 3: Hey, James, James, Big game, James Illo, James, No, it's
- 1:54:17Speaker 3: not James.
- 1:54:18Speaker 1: What's up the stadium?
- 1:54:25Speaker 9: Stadium.
- 1:54:26Speaker 3: Nicely done.
- 1:54:27Speaker 1: James is not there, but neither is Ken Flanders. Uh
- 1:54:32Speaker 1: all right. I said, if there's anybody listening from the
- 1:54:38Speaker 1: pro Shop that wants to, you know, call in about
- 1:54:42Speaker 1: some of the sideline stuff, you can And we used
- 1:54:44Speaker 1: to do that. We used to call Ken Flanner random.
- 1:54:48Speaker 3: Shop at the time, and he's in the middle of
- 1:54:50Speaker 3: the pro He was never he was never at his desk,
- 1:54:52Speaker 3: and we always got the voicemail.
- 1:54:54Speaker 11: So then we got into a bit about calling people
- 1:54:56Speaker 11: while we're on the show here that we'll work with.
- 1:54:58Speaker 1: So who could we call? They would I don't know.
- 1:55:00Speaker 12: We thought Aaron.
- 1:55:02Speaker 3: I was literally just first one.
- 1:55:06Speaker 6: Aaron's not going to pick up Tuesday, let's do it.
- 1:55:09Speaker 3: Who says now?
- 1:55:10Speaker 1: But those PR guys there you always pick up.
- 1:55:13Speaker 6: Aaron will be up in the middle of the like,
- 1:55:15Speaker 6: except today when literally, Mike you already walked in like
- 1:55:17Speaker 6: five minutes, laid into the locker room and he's like,
- 1:55:18Speaker 6: how long you guys been open? I was stuck at
- 1:55:20Speaker 6: the gate. I was trying to call Aaron.
- 1:55:21Speaker 3: He would pick up, and then Aaron came running over.
- 1:55:23Speaker 1: He's like, I don't have my phone.
- 1:55:26Speaker 12: He must have lost it.
- 1:55:28Speaker 1: Guy without a phone. Uh, Rick Richard, new Haven, Connecticut
- 1:55:37Speaker 1: about the rivalries Jersey. Uh, this is absolutely a cape
- 1:55:41Speaker 1: Cod color. It looks like every old Shaker style siding
- 1:55:44Speaker 1: on a cute little cape Cod house. You see it everywhere.
- 1:55:47Speaker 1: It looks like a nor'easter. I hope then job because
- 1:55:52Speaker 1: that's the look they were going for.
- 1:55:54Speaker 6: It was good to me that was headed down to
- 1:55:55Speaker 6: the cape Cod tonight, Fred cape Cod.
- 1:55:59Speaker 1: You know you've got a big vacation to day tomorrow
- 1:56:01Speaker 1: and this is it, right, this is it.
- 1:56:03Speaker 5: This is the favorite time of year on the cab.
- 1:56:05Speaker 5: Feel the same way.
- 1:56:06Speaker 6: But like my mom lives down there now summer, once
- 1:56:08Speaker 6: the tourists all leave and it thins out and the
- 1:56:10Speaker 6: weather is still pretty nice.
- 1:56:11Speaker 1: It's just well next week. It's it's that two weeks
- 1:56:14Speaker 1: after Labor Day.
- 1:56:15Speaker 3: For me, I think this weekend would be busy down there.
- 1:56:17Speaker 5: It Labor Day weekend. Yeah, but I'm just saying, it's.
- 1:56:20Speaker 12: Uh, back in school.
- 1:56:22Speaker 3: Everybody's off the island though. I'll tell you that on Monday,
- 1:56:26Speaker 3: late Monday, it's like the rush of starting school before
- 1:56:28Speaker 3: Labor Day.
- 1:56:29Speaker 5: I don't that's weird.
- 1:56:30Speaker 6: We got to bang out Wednesday and Thursday, because a
- 1:56:32Speaker 6: two days of school.
- 1:56:33Speaker 3: Their off weeks ridiculous.
- 1:56:35Speaker 6: But I kind of like get like a couple of
- 1:56:37Speaker 6: dry run days and then you get back.
- 1:56:38Speaker 3: So it helps for the days that they miss for
- 1:56:41Speaker 3: the weather. You know, it gives you a couple of
- 1:56:43Speaker 3: extra days that you got in June.
- 1:56:45Speaker 4: Right, Well, they're soft about the weather now too, oh god.
- 1:56:49Speaker 1: Too cold. They canceled school. Yeah, but this August, like,
- 1:56:54Speaker 1: at least here in Massachuset, one of the best weather August.
- 1:56:58Speaker 6: After all that thirteen fourteenth Street Saturdays with rain in
- 1:57:02Speaker 6: the spring, and it.
- 1:57:03Speaker 11: Was really hot in July, but July was beautiful too.
- 1:57:05Speaker 11: We didn't get a lot of rain after June.
- 1:57:07Speaker 1: Well, July we had those oppressive heat days.
- 1:57:11Speaker 4: Those really great training camp weather. We did have great
- 1:57:17Speaker 4: weather and really not a ton of rain, not not
- 1:57:20Speaker 4: overly hot. A couple of hot days, but nothing crazy.
- 1:57:23Speaker 4: But thet no rain is huge. I mean that's big.
- 1:57:26Speaker 3: And when it has rained, it seems like it's like
- 1:57:28Speaker 3: overnight or really heavy for a very short period of time,
- 1:57:31Speaker 3: which is good because it gause you know, you know,
- 1:57:34Speaker 3: for you environmentalists, what you need.
- 1:57:36Speaker 6: You see water heat.
- 1:57:41Speaker 1: Austin in the woods of Oklahoma rights In just sold
- 1:57:44Speaker 1: my house and maxed out my credit card to bet
- 1:57:46Speaker 1: Chisholm to win Offensive Rookie of the Year, Offensive Player
- 1:57:49Speaker 1: of the Year and m v P. Now I'm living
- 1:57:52Speaker 1: in a tent, but it will be all worth it
- 1:57:53Speaker 1: in five months. My wife wants a divorce, but you
- 1:57:56Speaker 1: can't find me in the woods, so I'm in the
- 1:57:57Speaker 1: clear for now. Paul, I'm buying you a mid trim
- 1:58:00Speaker 1: Toyota Corolla once my money hits my account.
- 1:58:03Speaker 3: Something to root for it ps.
- 1:58:05Speaker 1: The new uniforms are dope, and I'd love to see
- 1:58:07Speaker 1: them more than once a year.
- 1:58:09Speaker 6: Yeah, that's that's the thing, that it is only once
- 1:58:11Speaker 6: a year.
- 1:58:12Speaker 1: Yeah. Someone said that he heard it was twice this year.
- 1:58:15Speaker 1: It isn't. It's just one game.
- 1:58:16Speaker 3: I said that it's just once.
- 1:58:19Speaker 6: Everyone clarify a Yeah, you see them once and that's it.
- 1:58:23Speaker 4: I might make those bets for a Traveon Henderson. I
- 1:58:26Speaker 4: wouldn't make that bet for chosen Offensive Rookie.
- 1:58:30Speaker 1: Of the Year.
- 1:58:32Speaker 3: Make it happen if if we could, of course, you know,
- 1:58:34Speaker 3: you know, that would be uh. I think that would
- 1:58:37Speaker 3: be a good pick. Nice little dark horse.
- 1:58:40Speaker 5: There's how much of an impact would that really make
- 1:58:42Speaker 5: for this offense?
- 1:58:42Speaker 6: So, I mean, because we kind of downplay not to
- 1:58:44Speaker 6: get into this with two minutes left, but like, realistically,
- 1:58:47Speaker 6: like Trevon Henderson is offensive Rookie of the year, is is
- 1:58:50Speaker 6: that enough to get the Patriots into the playoffs or
- 1:58:53Speaker 6: does there have to be.
- 1:58:54Speaker 3: I think a couple more than.
- 1:58:57Speaker 4: Garrett Wilson won the offensive Player of the Year for
- 1:58:59Speaker 4: the Jets couple of years ago, and Sasso one defensive
- 1:59:01Speaker 4: player Rookie of the year and they didn't make the playoffs.
- 1:59:05Speaker 1: All right, one more call then we're gonna call it
- 1:59:06Speaker 1: a show. Terrence is in southern California. What's up, Terrence?
- 1:59:12Speaker 10: Fred?
- 1:59:13Speaker 11: How you doing?
- 1:59:13Speaker 18: Hey, Paul?
- 1:59:14Speaker 21: I just wanted to call in and ask how your
- 1:59:16Speaker 21: son did at Hell week and what company he's in,
- 1:59:18Speaker 21: because my son's a junior there and maybe he can
- 1:59:21Speaker 21: look out for him.
- 1:59:24Speaker 3: Well, I don't know. I don't think if he's a junior,
- 1:59:26Speaker 3: is he he's not allowed to be friends? Right?
- 1:59:29Speaker 1: And not how it works.
- 1:59:32Speaker 3: He's fifth Battalion, Victor Company.
- 1:59:37Speaker 1: That's tough, sounds, that goes hard, tip of the spear.
- 1:59:44Speaker 3: I appreciated, Terrence. Thank you for chiming in that's uh, yeah,
- 1:59:47Speaker 3: it's a lot. We're just kind of learning about it.
- 1:59:49Speaker 3: I don't my wife and I don't really have any
- 1:59:51Speaker 3: military background, so just kind of taking it all in.
- 1:59:55Speaker 3: It was nice to hear from him over the weekend
- 1:59:58Speaker 3: after they take their phones away for the first like
- 2:00:01Speaker 3: eight or nine days. It was nice to hear from him.
- 2:00:03Speaker 4: Man.
- 2:00:04Speaker 3: I think he's doing okay. So far, so far, so good.
- 2:00:07Speaker 5: All right, any timed in on the reform too.
- 2:00:08Speaker 1: Thanks for calling in, Terrence.
- 2:00:11Speaker 3: Thank you, Terrence. I appreciate it.
- 2:00:13Speaker 1: That's cool, very good. All right. That's gonna be it
