- Mark: Hey Jack, how are you doing, man? Jack: Yeah, play good, mate. Mark: Yeah, good mate, good. this is episode three, I think, now, isn't it? Jack: Huh, how have we made it this far? Hm. Mark: Just a fluke I guess. A quick question though. If you wake up tomorrow you're eighteen again, but you keep everything you know now, what's the first thing you're gonna do differently? Me pi Jack: Go and buy ten houses. Mark: Buy ten houses. I'm saving up and gonna work out how to buy Bitcoin. I reckon that's the way to do it. Hmm. I think so, 'cause that's Jack: yeah. It's not a bad way to go. Hmm. Mark: Bitcoin's gone up through the roof now, so Jack: Remember when Bitcoin first sorta started and it was like yeah, one cent f for one of you're like, No, that's not gonna do anything. Mark: Yeah. Exactly. Now look it's like a hundred thousand a a coin now, so that's it. Jack: No. Idiots. Idiots. Mark: All right, let's kick it on now. Alright everyone, welcome back. This is episode three. I am Mark and that is Jack. Jack, what do you think about episode two? Jack: definitely much better. bit of feedback I got was about the microphone, so that's definitely helped out. But yeah, we pulled our fingers out a little bit more as well, so get more comfortable doing it. Mm-hmm. Mark: Yeah, that's it. Yeah, I I think we were a bit shaky there for a while as well and I think as we do this the as you know, we're not professionals by any stretch of anyone's imagination, including our own. And I think we'll just get better as time goes on, I think too. So we'll keep Jack: Yeah, a hundred percent. Mark: keep trucking along. What have you been Jack: Let's do it. Mark: up what have you been up to this week? Jack: night shift, I finished this morning, so Mark: Ooh, fun. Jack: yeah, I apologize if I'm a little bit out of it, but I'm trying. But, yeah, business kicks on as soon as I finished night shift, had three hours sleep, got straight in the car, went off to mow a couple of yards, so no rest Mark: perfect. Jack: for the wicked Mark: That sounds good. And you're drinking tonight obviously. It's a night. It's past midday. You're ready to go. Jack: of course. Yeah. Well, yeah, ten AM some days. Mark: Yeah, that's it. maybe this week I came instead over Friday night, so that was nice. got to see her for a little bit and then we met Jack: Very good. Mark: up with the boys and went to the airport driving range out at near the D FO there. So Jack: lovely. Mark: yeah, we're out there for a few hours, hit a few balls, had a few chips, a couple of drinks, that sort of stuff. So Jack: How does that look these days? I haven't been out there since they upgraded it. Mark: mate, it's so nice out there. Landis Pocket is like the brewery out there, they've got their own beers out there. we'll have to go there one night actually. Jack: Yeah. Mark: Which we'll talk about later on, 'cause I have a plan. I have an idea of for us and we'll see how this goes. Jack: Plot of hell. Mark: could be shit, could be good. but yeah, look we'll talk about that at the a little bit later on. but I want to kick into something first, actually. your niece. She's she's Jack: Hm. Yeah, your daughter. Mark: Yeah, she signed up to do the Sunny Coast triathlon next year. And she's gonna do an ultra marathon as well. So no, no, she's Jack: Yeah, right. Is she okay? Mark: she's insane. y you can't you you can't Jack: Do we need a intervention or something? Like what do we need to do here? Mark: you can't be a normal person and go and do all this sort of stuff. Now I'm gonna say this as well because she said she was gonna listen to our podcast. She hasn't yet. So we're just gonna talk shit about her tonight and we'll see what happens. Jack: Hmm. Ooh. Bit of a call, yeah. Mark: It is it is. She told me she was gonna listen to it but she hasn't yet, so Disappointed. I am disappointed. So you should be disappointed in your niece too, so Jack: Unbelievable. Yeah. Most of the time I'm disappointed, let's just let's be honest here. Mark: Yeah, that's true. Look, the other thing that happened today as well with her, I called her up 'cause I needed some information from her about something and she was at uni, she called me back and she was struggling to get up some stairs. Like she was panting by the time she got to the top Jack: Mm-hmm. Mark: of the stairs. I was like, Aren't you meant to be doing like a triathlon and ultra marathon next year? Like, y come on. You're meant to be fit. You played football all year, you do a lot of running, you're meant to be fit. But it actually started me on something as well. I actually need to get fit. So I think maybe we we look at a regular segment here, Jack: Yeah. Mark: and maybe I do like a catch to five K or something or other. I don't know what yet. but I do need to do need to get fit. So I pose the question to you, should I enter something Jack: Mm. Mark: as well? Jack: Like a half marathon or something. Mark: Fuck no that's too far. Jack: I would love to say that. Mark: Look, I would I think it'd be hilarious for a lot of people, but yeah. Jack: What are you thinking, like tough mudder sort of situation or what do you Mark: Maybe. Yeah, may maybe. I d I don't know yet. I don't know yet. Give me some ideas. Listeners if you're if there's any of you out there. put in the comments what you think I should do. I can already understand some of the comments that Jack: Ha ha. Mark: will come back, but we'll w especially for some of your mates that are listening to it, but we'll see how we go. true, true. It's it used Jack: Well Tough Mother might put some colour in your beard at least. Mark: to be bright red but now it's sort of gone a bit a bit white, so Jack: But watch it, yeah. Mark: Yeah, that's it. the other thing tonight, we're gonna do our normal segments as well. we did wanna talk about setting up small business in more detail, but we won't do that tonight. so we're just gonna there's a couple of sections here that we wanna talk a lot of a little more detail about, but yeah, we'll see how we go tonight anyway. but yeah, we'll bring the small business segment back in at a later stage 'cause we we wanna make sure we get it right for everybody that's listening out there, so which will be good. Alright, let's kick on with the golf wood. I'm gonna s go off a little bit off track with some of these questions, instead of being about you and me. these questions Jack: Mm-hmm. Mark: tonight are going to be more about just some random shit really, including slow play. But firstly, you're offered ten million dollars, but every round of golf you play for the rest of your life has to be with someone you absolutely fucking hate. Are you taking the money? Jack: So I'm playing with you for the rest of my life, is that right? Is that what you're getting at? Mark: Yeah, pretty much. Yeah, I guess so. If if you you fucking hate me, I guess, yeah. Yeah. Jack: Look, I've played a few rounds of golf with some people I didn't really enjoy their company, so yeah, I'll take the ten mil. Mark: Yeah, I'm gonna take the ten mil two. I can play golf with anyone. You know, I just hit my ball over to the left and then over to the right, and then I'm never actually playing with anybody. I'm just on my own most of the time. Jack: Just accidentally shank it straight into him, you know. Exactly. Mark: Accidentally that that's it's not gonna be an accident. Alright, you can guarantee a hole you're sorry, I'll start again. You're guaranteed a hole in one today, but nobody sees it, your phone is dead. Do you still want that hole in one? Jack: Well see I've sorta had this situation, so I'm gonna say no. Because Mark: Mm. Jack: no one's gonna believe you, right? So Mark: Well look I remember you telling me you got a holding one and I I said the same thing to you. Did you record it or was anyone there to to believe it? And you said you were playing with people so I believe that there was some other you know, that someone was there to see it. Jack: There's a few randos, but that was back early early days, where I was using my hybrids to hit a hundred and thirty meters, so you know, that was a long time ago. I I don't think it counts much anymore, so that's my driver, isn't it? At least I can hit it straight. Mark: Mate still use your hybrid at a hundred metres, so what are you talking about? It was back in the day. That's true. Who wants to go straight? Exactly, it's like a good night at the beat. Jack: Not you, of course. Mark: me personally, I'm not taking that either. I I would want someone someone there, that's can see it and and and can talk to people and actually tell them that I did it. You just want proof, don't you? Jack: I think you just want the boys around, right? To f really carry on and play up and yell and scream and yeah. You want it to be a thing. Yeah. Mark: Yeah. Yeah. And go absolutely stupid over it. Yeah. Instead of just being on your own being like, I a hole in one and it's like air bullshit. Jack: Yeah. Yeah, prove it, bitch. Mark: I agree. All right, next one. You're standing on the first tier Augusta with Tiger Woods, Rory McEroy and Scotty Sheffler. How nervous are you and are you getting the first ball airborne? Jack: Yeah, I wouldn't care 'cause they know I suck. Like you know, so Mark: Ha ha ha ha. Jack: like, yeah, I'm just gonna play my normal game here. Yeah, they can laugh at me all Mark: Yeah, true. Jack: they want, but Mark: Yeah, so you y you're probably hitting it to the women's teeth, let's face it. Yeah. Jack: No, a hundred percent. I think I thrive under pressure actually, so the more people around, the better I play. Mark: Yeah right. They're right. I've seen those ads where or not even ads, it's w when you're watching the golf and there's bl like spectators lined all the way down the fairway. I'm collecting most of them on any shot you Jack: Yeah, I'm Mark: you give me from there. Like there's people dying on that course if they do that when I'm standing there. So look, that would be why I'd be nervous. Not so much nervous about who's actually on the tea with on the tee with me. More nervous about killing spectators. For an Jack: yeah. Mark: errant errant shot, which is my normal shot, so. Jack: I've been known to stand in the path of a practice swing and collect a heap of grass in my face, so Mark: Yeah. Jack: you know We're definitely killing people. Mark: didn't I actually I think it was where were we were at Woodford that time and we were playing with a couple of randos. Actually we might been playing in a competition and you and the other guy's playing partner had walked ahead and I'd duffed my chip shot and it actually s it got you so yeah, look you know, you weren't Jack: Yeah. Mark: even I was you were off maybe twenty metres off to the side of the green, like from where I was aiming as well and I somehow still managed to fucking hit ya so Jack: You st still got me. Mark: exactly. All right, slow play. Jack: Yeah. Mark: you mentioned to me earlier that there's some new rules out there, about slow play. well sorry, just new rules out there. Do you wanna explain to me? Jack: Yeah, so something I only saw the other day, so PGA have released some relaxed rules of golf. Mark: Ooh. Jack: so seven new rules. So number one is maximum score is double par, so it's part three, maximum score is six, par four, eight, five, ten. Look at me doing maths. Mark: Yeah, nice. Well done, yeah. Jack: I don't hate it. I don't think you should score over ten on any hole, regardless, 'cause anything over that is awful. Mark: Yeah, yeah. Yep. Jack: number two, penalties are all one stroke, so whether you're out of bounds or you you hit it in your practice swing or whatever the case may be, just add one stroke rather than two or or more. Mark: So so let's say you're on the T box for that one, 'cause this is where like I I you sent me that image earlier and I wasn't Jack: Mm. Mark: quite understanding this. So when you hit a ball out, you get it's you it's one for the shot, right? Then you get one for the Jack: Yeah. Yeah. Mark: sh out of bounds, and then you have one for the drop. So your sa essentially your second shot is your third ball. Yeah. So this just Jack: Exactly, yeah. Yeah. Mark: takes that extra shot off of placing a ball down. Jack: That's a good question actually. I'd say drops probably excuse me, it's still the same. but penalties like just hitting it out of bounds, you find your ball, or you land in penalty area, or you improve your stance, or you do a rise into Chambeau and you know, stomp the grass behind your ball to improve your swing. I think that'd all be one stroke. I think drops are probably still gonna be the same. Mark: Yeah, fair enough. Fair enough. Jack: number three, limit ball search to two minutes. Like Mark: Isn't it three minutes at the moment? Jack: I think it's ten, actually. The pros get ten to find their ball. Mark: right, okay. What the what the fuck do they need it for? They've got spectators look for their balls. Jack: Exactly. And they still lose I don't hate it, 'cause Mark: Yeah. Jack: like if you're buying pro v ones that's on you. If you're shanking that bad and you need to go find it, then don't buy pro v ones. Like, we're not even in comps, you know, it yeah, the score matters, but come on, let's wrap this up, you know. Mark: Look, w we'll we can talk about balls later on, I guess in in another segment as well, because Jack: Hmm. Mark: like you know actually we'll lay w we'll leave it for another day. 'cause yeah, we can talk about balls all we want tonight, to be honest. But yeah, I hear what you're saying there. Search for limit limit your ball search for two minutes. I like that. Yep. Jack: Yep. You're a bit of a ball expert, so that makes sense. Mark: I love bulls. Jack: number four, improve unfortunate lies. So to me this sorta if you land in someone's divot excuse me, it's full of sand or they haven't refilled it, or it's sitting like an inch from a car path or an inch from a a tree root or something. yeah. We don't get free clubs. Let's just Common sense prevails, take it off the hard rocky stuff, take it off the car path, you know. That sort of stuff. conceived putts allowed, so you know. I made an Mind we never used to do, the gimme sort of thing, so Mark: Yeah, yeah. Jack: a few people do. I like to see the ball hit the bottom, but Yeah. Is what Mark: Yeah, look Jack: it is I suppose. Mark: yeah, look with the conceded parts and and you're giving someone a gimme, I think anything within you know, for most people, half a half a length of a putter, I think is is you're usually gonna get in, depending on the green I suppose, and and what course you're playing as well. But, you know Yeah, I mean that Jack: I can definitely miss that. Mark: look, I probably have missed a number of them over the years too, but I think, you know, just to keep play f play going, if if you're putting well, like if you're having a shit day, you're at hole twelve and you've ha four putt Jack: Hm. Mark: every hole, I'm not giving you a putt. Jack: Yeah. Yeah. Mark: You know what I mean? But just to speed up play, if he's within half a club length, do you just let him have and like, Alright mate, where you go? Jack: Yeah. Mark: He's probably not counted right anyway. Jack: Especially a group of four walking, right? Like Mark: Yeah. Jack: yeah, let's just move this along. Hurry up. Yeah. Mark: I agree, man, I agree. What have we got two now, number six? Jack: we're up to yep, six. So no equipment restrictions. So at the moment I think it's fourteen clubs in the bag. Mark: Yeah, I like that. Mm-hmm. Jack: I'd probably use maybe ten at most in a round, so it doesn't really hurt me much, but you Mark: Yeah. Jack: know, if you want a a gap wedge, pitching wedge, a sixty degree, a fifty six, whatever you want, you know, just throw all in Mark: Hm. Jack: there. Mark: Yep. Look, I I I I honestly think the no equipment restriction, while it's a good one to have the average hacker, yourselves, e even probably down to like five or six handicappers, probably aren't using a gap wedge of fifty six, a sixty, or all those to to their proper uses anyway. Sandwich and pitching wedge and putter, along with a night on is probably most of what everyone needs in those those, you know, as you get down the clubs. until you're a lot better. Then you're probably using those extra clubs but you know, for the most part, most people aren't even gonna need People just have just because they Jack: Hm. Matemon. Mark: they make now. Jack: Yeah. Matemon's just discovered a chipping putter. Yeah, right. Yeah, he can't miss with Mark: Dad used to have one those actually. Yeah, it was so good. But it yeah. Jack: it, so yeah, he's got his normal putter and then a chipping putter, so yeah. He's he's doing well with it. Mark: Yeah, that's good. And the the last one? I think Jack: This is where most people are gonna fall over, I think. Is use common sense. Mark: Look, I a hundred percent agree with you, yeah. Yep. Jack: So if you know you're slow, if you're eighty eight years old and you can hardly walk and there's carts catching up to you all the time, if you're on the beers with the boys, good on ya, but get out of the way, let people play through. Like, just use some common sense. Mark: Yeah. I I agree, no one wants to be out there for sixty hours to have a eighteen round, you know, gay. Jack: Hm. Definitely not. Mark: Yeah. I think all that's fair enough, but are people actually gonna follow those rules as well? Like, you know, how many people out there you know, I've I've seen I've been out there on my own and seen a an eight man group in front of me. They let me through on the next hole, Jack: Hmm. Mark: which was fine 'cause I was out there on my own. but I've seen eight eight people playing in in on on the course. Like it's you know, you know, you can only book four man tee off time. You know, so they've just put two groups together Jack: Yeah, that's it. Mark: and let go and there's no one out there, there's no court martial out there, sorry, courts martial out there, Jack: Okay. Mark: to stop them from doing it. So are people gonna follow these rules? I'd like to see it happen. Jack: I'd love to see it happen and I think we need even like the groundskeepers 'cause they're everywhere all the time. If they're seeing stuff, I think they should have the ability to just walk ungay. Come on guys, let you know you're Mark: Yeah. Jack: a bit slow, let's let this go through, you know. Yeah, we've all Mark: I do have an I Jack: played rounds that have been six, seven hours plus, which is just ridiculous. Mark: Hm. Yeah, I do have an idea on this. When you go into the clubhouse and you check in, you if you haven't paid your fees, you pay your fees, they give you a little GPS tracker. Then Jack: Mm. Mark: when you come back, you either get a discount on your on your round or you you don't you don't get one. If you can if you can Jack: Yeah, I don't have that idea. Mark: if you can go out and you can play in eighteen holes in four hours, you know, anywhere between I'm I'm gonna say four or four and a half hours, you get a discount on your round. Maybe if you can go out even faster, like if you go out in under f under four hours you You know, you might get fifty percent back if you go out Jack: Hmm. Mark: in four hours or less, you know, you know f three to four hours you might get twenty five percent. Even a Jack: Yep. Mark: ten percent reduction in your fees might be might be worthwhile to some people, so hm. Jack: Hundred cent, especially rounds that like yeah, the bigger courses that are hundred and ten, hundred and twenty bucks just for the green fees. Yeah, it makes a big difference. Mark: Yeah, it does. I mean i all the carts now have GPS trackers in anyway, so they could probably just do use those as well by the time you leave and by the time you get back, you know. Give or take if you stop at the clubhouse for a few beers mid round. But Jack: Well I can't remember which course it was, but I have seen one of the carts come up with a thing saying you're so many minutes ahead or so many minutes behind your pace of play. So there is one course out there Mark: Hm. I've seen that too, yeah. Jack: that do it. I can't remember which one it is. Mark: Yeah. And you've got to keep up with the co the the group in front as well, not the group behind, so hm. Jack: Yeah, hundred cent. Mark: I like that. Look, fingers crossed anyway, slow play's always going to be an issue, Rorick, I guess, with golf, so yeah. Jack: Yeah, that's right. And yeah, I play a lot of weekdays, which is good for me, but yeah, weekends are just awful. Yeah, Mark: you can't even book in on weekends anymore, I don't think, so Jack: right. Mark: yeah. Alright, so let's move on. Alright, the fair way. This is a good segment. The pros, Jack: Mm-hmm. Mark: the pro golf, not us. you might have known about this, I I don't really know too much, so I might get this wrong in here and I might upset a few people, including Phil Mickelson. I want to talk about this Jack: Yeah. Mark: man. He's won six majors, forty five PGA tour wins, he's won the PGA championship at fifty. He's one of the biggest personalities golf has had. I love the interviews that he does. He talks about, you know, if the grass is wet, you've got to counter for this. If the grass is, you know, flowing backwards or growing backwards into your swing path, you've got to do something different. If there's so many technicalities around what he talks about and I absolutely love what he's you know, or l listening to w him talk about golf, especially so but I did notice at the start of the year he played one or two rounds with Liv and then just disappeared, I think around February, March, maybe April. yeah, it might have been the end of March, I he played live South Africa maybe? And then he disappeared after that. I didn't Jack: Yep. Mark: really think too much of it, I just thought, you he's getting on a bit, maybe his health or something like that. and that's pretty much where what he had said. It's a private family matter. then recently and I don't know how long ago I only found out about this today. there's been allegations about sexual harassment, gambling, all that sort of stuff. And I know he's had issues with gambling in the past. he talked about those years ago I think so He's from what I understand they're disputing him and his lawyer are disputing the allegations around sexual misconduct or whatever it was. Jack: Yeah, I believe they are. Mark: yeah. So we'll see what happens there. I've only just found out about it, so yeah. Do you know much more about this? Jack: Yeah, I only heard about it a few days ago as well. but apparently he's entered a treatment centre for family trauma and addiction, so yeah, he's you know Mark: Hm, okay. Jack: the judges always look kindly upon stars that enter themselves into all these rehab programmes, so yeah, he was definitely pushed, he didn't jump into it, but Yeah, it looked yeah, I've based my chipping off Fermixon so you know, and it it works. Mark: Look, as long as you don't base your drawing off Tiger Woods, you'll be right. Jack: I based my drinking off him, so I'm halfway there. But yeah, look. It's a a big hit for golf, I think. I think. Even though Phil Micson's a bit of a divisive character, he's I think he's good for the game. He's been around forever. you see all the crowd videos where he's interacting with kids and stuff in the crowd, mid round. Like I don't really see too many other people doing that sort of stuff, so yeah. Mark: Yeah. They're all fairly focused, aren't when they're out there and I get they need to be focused. They're you know, they're out there on their own, they don't have a team to fall back on. So I do like that that he does talk to the crowd and stuff like that when he's out there. look I think it's I think it's a shame that this is that this has happened and and whether he's done these things or not, it's always hard to prove your innocence in in these situations. when it's a he sheds he said she said Jack: Hmm. Mark: thing, unless they've obviously got footage or something, I don't know the details about it. And yeah, he has talked about gambling addiction in the past as well. that was a few years ago. so yeah, it'll be interesting to see what happens here. I wonder how long he's in there for, what the treatment is, all that sort of stuff. So Jack: Mm. Mark: yeah. Hopefully he gets gets the help he needs at least. Jack: Yeah, that's right, and you know, if it is something that can be helped, then I don't see why he can't make a comeback. if it's comes out that yeah, all this stuff is true then maybe he needs to do the crime do the time sort of thing. So yeah, we'll watch this space. Mark: Hmm. Watch this space. Yeah, look I was just gonna ask you a couple of questions about it as well, like I was but you've already answered one of I was gonna ask if you think Phil Mickelson's played his last round of professional golf, but we'll see. Hmm. Jack: I don't think so. No. especially for like the masters and that. I think he'll he'll get through this. Mark: You come back. Jack: Yeah. People's memories are long but they they love a they're good comeback stories, so yeah, I reckon he'll come back. Mark: Yep, fair enough. And you want to see him come back as well? I think it'd yeah, I do, yeah. Yep. Jack: Yep. Mark: And will he be the most hated man in golf if he does come back? Jack: that's a tough one, hey. he's got some stiff competition here there. With you know. Mark: There is a few, there is a few. But look, I'll I'll put it to you this way. Tiger Woods, he he'd done the dirty on his wife a number of times, he'd done a few other things, he'd crashed a car, taken various, you know, types of drugs, crashed another car, took some more drugs, did a few things, you know. Is there been three as there I thought there was Jack: Crash another car? Like there's three now, isn't there? Mark: two, but if there's been a third, we'll s we'll wait and see. We'll have to look it up. Jack: I think he got away with one, fucked his legs up and then the most recent one. I'm not entirely sure, but yeah. Mark: Yeah. Yeah, that's true, yeah. And look, he's still made a comeback and he's still out there playing golf, earning money, everything like that. Still got his sponsorship or some of his sponsorships at least anyway, so we'll see what happens here. yeah. Hmm. Jack: And people love him, right? Like look at the crowds that follow him around, even when he's not playing, there's just like a gaggle of people around him just to say Mark: Hm. And his brand, what is it, Sunday Red? Jack: Yep. Mark: that's going gangbusters from an understand too, so yeah. Jack: Hm. Yeah, see if you few of the P GA players get dreamed with the Sunday red logos on them now. Mark: They are now getting sponsorships. yeah, so we'll look we'll wait and see what happens with Phil and and fingers crossed he gets the treatment he needs, if there's anything wrong. the other thing I noticed as well this week is there's been some backlash on the golf on the Live Golf Fallout saga. I don't know who. They haven't actually Sergio Garcia was one of them. he's looking at exiting his contract and potentially getting back on the PGA. that's happened this week. And there was a couple other players as well, I just don't know which ones yet. Do you think we're gonna see an exodus of Livgolf in the next little bit, next couple of months? Jack: Live golf doesn't exist anymore, right? It's it's Mark: Mm. Jack: gone to the creditors, so I think whatever their contracts say, they've gotta try and weasel the way out of and do whatever they need to do, pay the penalties, go back to the reserve grade, so to speak, and and build their way back into the PGA. I think, yeah, they've just got to do it. If they wanna keep playing golf. Mark: Yep. Yeah, look I th I think so too on that in that aspect as well. Like I I think they they tried something, the the backing fell out of it. It's not the golfers' Jack: Yep. Mark: fault. they were obviously chasing the money and chasing maybe the better lifestyle. but if they want to keep playing I think they probably need to do they probably need to find a way to earn their way back onto the PGA as well. Like obviously you've got Chambeau, you've got these guys that are playing really good golf at the moment still. Maybe they have to do a round or something. I dunno I don't know. They but I feel like they've got to get their way back in. Gotta earn their way back in because there's a lot of young fellas that are coming through, the Corn Fury tour and all that, the D P World tour. that yeah, probably want their shot. So yeah. Jack: Hm. Well, do the PGA need to release more cards? 'Cause there's only a certain number of cards, right? Mark: Yeah. Jack: So do they need to release more cards? And one person who stayed very quiet in all this is Dustin Johnson, who, yeah, it was a huge name to go over. Mark: Mm. Yeah. Jack: from what I understand he's got many b business opportunities outside of golf, so he probably he's quite content probably. But yeah, he's a big name to to lose out of all this. Mark: Yeah, yeah, definitely. Look, I I don't I d I I kinda think DJ will probably end up finishing his career now. I think you're right, he's got a lot of business opportunities out there now. and I think he'll probably look at those 'cause I th from what I remember he was he wasn't enjoying himself in the last last couple of years either, so yeah. Jack: Yeah, yeah. He's making millions off his businesses, so yeah. Golf is just a bit of a hobby for him. Mark: Yeah, that's it. He's made his money, he's ready to move on. Yep, alright, let's keep going. Alright, the big one here, the locker room. We want to talk about wanna talk about the women's grand final first. Jack: Yeah. Mark: Yep, this is the the Roosters versus Broncos. It was Allie Briganshaw's last game, she's retired now for the Broncos Jack: Yeah. Mark: and the Roosters actually won that one. Jack: Yeah, they thumped I think the Broncos only scored six points, so Mark: Oof. Jack: yeah, good on the the Roosters for showing up, but yeah, another another bad hit for the Broncos this year. Mark: Yeah, thirty to six for the women. So look, Jack: Mm. Mark: I'll give the women this. They did a lot better than the men's team did. Jack: hell yeah. Yeah. It wouldn't be very hard though. Yeah, let's be honest. Mark: No, that's that's true. Yeah, look that's true. Look, credit credit to the women as well, they've they've played well. they've they've done their job over the years too. like I think was it the Broncos won last year? Broncos women won last year? Or was it the year before they won? I know they've won recently, I just can't remember which one it was. Yeah, that's right, yep. So Jack: Yeah. Nah, it was last year because both men and women got it last year. Yeah. Mark: Yeah, look I think it was a good game. and yeah, Roosters went down. Roosters took it out, so a bit of a shame for us being Broncos fans and all. But look, there's always next year as well. The girls are playing well, so Jack: Like at least they scored some points, right? It's nothing worse than go to a grand final and getting zero. So you know. Mark: Yeah, that's true. Yeah. Thirty to six is yeah, it's still a thumping, but you at least you got some points on the board, so yeah. Jack: Okay, it's a floggin' and that rooster side is just so stacked with talent, so Mark: Hm. Yeah, we'll wait and see what happens next year I suppose there too. Jack: Yeah. Mark: you want to talk about the state championship game? Jack: Yeah, so the the premiers from both states, Queensland and New South Wales, play off against each other, which was the Redcliffe Dolphins for Queensland and the Panthers for New South Wales. So they played at Occor Stadium prior to the NRL Gram final the other day. Mark: Mm-hmm. Jack: and yeah, Dolphins vlogged sixty eight fourteen. Mark: Whew, sixty eight forty. That's a lovely score. Especially for the Queensland team. Jack: It is brilliant. I did not expect that score. I don't think they expected Mark: Yeah. Jack: the score by the look on their faces. Mark: Yeah, definitely. Jack: But what an absolute floggy. Mark: Yeah, how good's that? I didn't actually get to watch the game, did you end up watching it? Yeah. Yep. Jack: I watched a bit of it probably twenty, thirty minutes, the second half and yeah, you can just see it was nearly like NRL side versus Park Footy. It was absolutely incredible. Yeah. Mark: Yeah, right. How good. How good. Jack: in saying that, you know, the Panthers are the premiers for their state, so you know, the Penruth Panthers for the NRL are still gonna be a a side to beat in the next ten years, so Mark: Yeah, definitely. They've got a good s junior programme happening down there too, so yeah. Jack: Yeah, and they've got great theater clubs. Mark: Hmm. Jack: So, yeah, it's definitely one to watch out for. Mark: That's it. look, you gotta give credit to the Dolphins though. couple of years in, winning the state championship, like and and not just winning it, absolutely flogging it. Obviously Penrith may have not had their strongest team on the field. They might have had few injuries, let a couple of guys off, resting as well, but credit to Dolphins, you know, coming out so far, coming so far in just a few short years as well, so Jack: Well, the the Redcliffe Dolphins have been around for a very long time, you know. Yeah, the old man played for so Mark: Hm. Yeah, Dad used play for them, yeah, back in the day. Yeah. Jack: they're a a long standing club with a lot of history there. But yeah, just a a great win. hopefully the Anorell Dolphins, not Redcliffe, just the Dolphins, can yeah, keep their momentum going and maybe reach the grand final the next couple of years. Mark: Yeah, fingers crossed, they got close this year. Hmm. Jack: Very close. Mark: Alright, now the big game. Where do you wanna Jack: Yeah. Mark: s where do you want to start with this one? It was such a good game. It was edgy seat shit. Yeah. Yep. Jack: I am just yeah. The whole time. I'm just so happy it was such a close game. it could have blown out either way, to be honest. but for it to go down to nineteen eighteen at full time is just absolutely incredible. Mark: But it was so good to watch, like the first twenty minutes when Newcastle went up, twelve nil. But then by the end of that like I think it was about tw or maybe thirty minutes into that first half, you could just see the Newcastle were dead on their feet. They were hanging out for half time. Like they defended so well. Yeah. Yeah. Jack: a hundred percent. But they did tackle a lot too. and, you know, there's obviously I think the ref did a great job, he put his whistle away for the better part of it. There's very few six again calls from memory, but a few hip drops probably got let off there, which hurt the knights. Excuse me. but like individual brilliance, right? So Mark: Okay. Jack: If Marky Bark's not there, Roosers probably don't score a point. Mark: Yeah, look, one thing I noticed one thing I noticed watching the game is I'm gonna say eighty percent of the roosters' kicks went to Mords Marky Mark and they were letting the the Knights were just letting him get up and catch Like they were letting anyone running down that side get up and catch him instead of competing for him in the air. I'm not sure if that was a strategy play from them. I'm not a hundred percent sure, but I think from my expert opinion here, is that the Knights Jack: Mm-hmm. Mark: probably let themselves down in that aspect there, 'cause the Roosters got ninety eighty percent of those balls back that they put up there. So Jack: Yeah. Mark: yeah. Jack: Honestly, if you think over the whole year, I think the Knights had that tactic to just maybe half compete for the ball but not fully go for it, and just see what sort of happens. and you know, it worked, you know, Marky Mark bad to back, Ponga picked it up, runs a length of field, scores a try, so Mark: Yeah, yeah. Jack: you know, if you half compete, half don't, you know, it can pay off. but he's just such a big, strong human. But Mark: Yeah. Jack: yeah, you can't defend against that. Mark: Great to watch him play. Yep. And then Jack: and then obviously Teddy. I Yep, called it. But Mark: Yeah, Teddy Dis. Y he got your Clove Clive Churchill as you predicted? Yep. Jack: he ran a thousand kilometers on his own. I did see Mark: He d he did a lot of running, didn't he? Yeah, that w Jack: a stat yesterday actually that he'd never made a tackle, which I found interesting. I'd I haven't Mark: Okay. Jack: actually done any research on that, but did a lot of run meters, set up a few tries, but yeah. Just brilliant. Mark: Yeah. It was good and the the last twenty minutes I thought they were gonna do I thought the k the Newcastle Knights were gonna do a Brisbane Lions and make a comeback at the end there. Jack: Yeah. Mark: They did close. They did close, but yeah. Jack: They did a very good job, but the Cherry Evans field goal ruled it out for so you know, it's Mark: Yeah. He's got Jack: I think all twenty Sydney Roosters fans in Australia were pretty happy, but I think most of Australia actually wanted the nights to win. So Mark: Yeah, I think so too. Jack: I think for the like that night everyone's like, yeah, you know, good on you guys, you won it But the next day is like Billy Hollow. Mark: Ha ha. Jack: Like everyone's just like, I'm sort of one of the knights to win and have the big fairy tale finish and but yeah, it was still a like as far as grand finals go, last year and this year, absolutely sensational. Mark: Yeah, look I completely agree with you there. It was a great game to watch, great final to have. Even the AFL final was amazing. so yeah, look looking forward to next year's games to be honest. Jack: Yeah. My my biggest problem now is what the hell do we watch? Mark: Well look, i the basketball's about to s well actually I think it's started in Australia here now. if it hasn't it's going to very soon. got a bit of lawn bowls action happening as well. a bit more golf still to come for the rest of the year. So we've still got Jack: Mm-hmm. Mark: we've still got sport out there. Still got sport. Still we've got motor racing still. Jack: Yeah, and NFL, yeah. And Mark: you y are the was it the Rugby League World Cup's coming up soon, too? Jack: Yes, it's starting very soon. I see the team was selected just the other day. looks like a pretty hard team to beat. However, the New Zealand team looks bloody unreal as well, so Mark: Yeah, they're gonna be it's gonna be a tough, tough cup this year, I reckon. Jack: Yeah, yeah. The way the Warriors were playing this year was just unbelievable, so you can only imagine that it's pretty much an entire Warriors side. Mark: Yep. Yeah, look it probably will be, won't it? but it'll be great to see. Still gonna go for Queensland for Queensland, still gonna go for Australia for sure though. Yeah. Jack: a hundred percent. if you want I'll just quickly run through the kangaroos sort. Mark: Yeah, go for it. Yep. Jack: so we got Brad Mobest, Jack Bostock, Blake Brailly, Pat Carrigan, L Lindsey Collins. It's a stacked team already, right? Mark: It certainly sounds that way. Jack: Reuben Cotter, Tom Deirdon, Tino Wilbarrow, David Feeder, Harry Grant, Kiona Kalomatangi, I think I said that right. Mark: Some of that. Jack: Liam Martin, Matrol Mitchell, Mitch Moses, Cam Unstar, Cam Murray, Jacob Preston, Katani Staggs, James Todesco, Tom Troboyovich, Sam Walker, Reese Walsh and Isaiah Yo. So Mark: she's gonna be a tough one. Jack: That's gonna be a hard team to beat. Mark: yeah. But let's look at have you got the Kiwi side there too? Jack: If you give me two six, I'll bring it up. Mark: We'll see it. We'll see what that one looks like too. It they're gonna be Man, it's gonna be tough game. Jack: yeah, hundred per cent. so we got James Fisher Harris, Kaylim Mark: Uh-huh. Jack: Ponga, Dane Gagai, Jacob Laban, Tanner Steow Smith, Jerome Hughes, Jeremy Marshall King, Aaron Clark, Moses Leota, Joseph Depine, Nephor White, Xavier Willison, Isaiah Papaliti, Scott Sorensen, Leah Thompson, Jermaine Osarko, bloody hell. Kiyah Keanu Kinney. Tomara Martin, Casey McLean, Ronaldo Molotale and Charles Nicker Clockstad. sorry, Cody Nicarima's in there as well. Mark: Yeah, right. Jack: so like the world is gonna split in two when those two teams meet each other. Mark: Look, it's it's going to be great. when's when's the first well when's the first game? Jack: It is on the fifteenth of October and it's Australia versus New Zealand. So we don't Mark: yeah. Jack: have to wait very long. Mark: No, not even a week, actually just over a week. where are they playing? Jack: They're playing at Allianz in Sydney, but one little tip I have is that nine don't have the rights, it's actually on channel seven. So just a little tip there. Mark: interesting. Interesting. Okay. On seven sport this year? Jack: Yep. Mark: That'll interesting. All right. we talked about this last week. I wanted to discuss the driver pairings. we had a look at them the other day and there's a Jack: Mm-hmm. Mark: a a shitload of cars, so Jack: Mm. Mark: what we'll do is we'll talk about our top ten. Fire away. Jack: Yeah, so it's gonna take me a minute to filter through results here, but stand with me. no, they haven't done Mark: they've 'cause they've done qualific quali. Hm. Jack: not yet. so I think the favourites are probably Walkenshaw Andretti United with the Mark: Mm-hmm. Jack: supers this year, so we got Chaz Mustard and Fabian Coulthard in the number one car. Mark: yeah, that'll be good. Jack: and his teammate Ryan Wood is paired with Jackson Evans in the number two car. Ryan Wood Mark: Mm-hmm. Jack: is so fast, it's incredible. Mark: Yep, he's done all right. Jack: you can never rule out Cam Orders who's paired with Mark Winterbottom. Just tick foot are sort of hot and cold, so yeah, you just never Mark: And Jack: know what they're gonna bring out. Mark: and Frosty's done that course so many times. Like he's he's got the experience there too would help, so hm. Jack: million times. One little smokey I'll throw in there is from Brad Jones Racing, Andre Heimgartner and Bryce Fullwood. Mark: Okay, yeah. Jack: Heimgartner is a bloody good driver and so is Fullwood to be honest. And I don't know, PJR just seemed to bring out good cars for for Bathis, so keep an eye on those guys. next one I would throw some money behind is obviously Brodie Kastecki Todd Hazelwood, number seventeen, Dick Johnson Racing Falcon. Or Mustang, sorry, not Falcons anymore. Mark: Yep. You're gonna if if you had to put money on you'd put them to win? Jack: Ooh, they did ha take a bit of a hit, their engineer fell off his bike. I don't know it was a pushbike or motorbike, so he's actually not engineering for the race, so Mark: I'll run. Jack: bit of a I'm not sure who's taken over his spot there, but yeah, that could throw a spanner in the works there. Mark: Yeah. look th they've got a team of engineers usually, so hopefully they've they've got someone to back him up. So Jack: Yeah. Yeah, th that'll be fine. yeah. Last year's winner, Matt Payne, is paired with Will Davison, who has been around forever, knows how to bring a car home straight. the other Pennerite Falcon keep saying Falcon, they're Mustangs near. Yeah. Mark: Gone are the days of the Falcons. They were great cars though. Jack: hundred percent. Kyle and Tim Slade in the twenty six Pennerite Mustang. Mark: Yep. Give us one more. Jack: I just wanna make a mention of Gary Rodgers Motorsport. Mark: Okay, yep. Jack: they got kicked out of the sport a couple of years ago. Mark: Yeah, that's right. Yeah. Jack: they have been allowed to throw a entrant in, so and their car looks absolutely pristine. Got the old Valvine colours on it. Mark: yeah, nice. Jack: so James Moffat and Nathan Hearn are raising that one. Mark: Yep. Why did they get kicked out again, do you remember? Jack: Some to do with the I can't remember what they called now, but they're like licenses to be able to race. and there's only a certain number of them. and whether he couldn't Mark: Yep. Jack: get the sponsorship together on time or get the money together to pay for either the licence or make an entrant, there was a heap of political stuff going on in the background, so he decided to just pull the pin. and Mark: Yeah, fair enough. Yeah. Jack: Supercards to go shovet, basically. Mark: Well, they're letting him back in now, so that's a good sign. Jack: Yeah, for Bathurst at least, which is good. but yeah, then you got the Red Bull racing Mustangs with Will Brown Scott Pie and Brock Feeney and Nick Percat, which are always gonna be tough to beat. So there are a lot more cars in there. A lot more cars. But I'm not gonna go through them all and bore the hell out of everyone. Mark: Look, at the end of the day it's gonna be a great race. There's a lot of good pairings in there as well, so I think depending on how everyone qualifies and where they sit in positions, it's gonna be it's gonna be a glorious day. I it's always a good event, Bathurst, you know. You know, you can always Jack: Yeah. And it's it's this weekend as well, so Get ready to spend some time on the couch. Mark: Well that's it. But the good thing about Mathis is you can watch a few laps, walk away, watch a few more laps, walk away. As long as you're back for the last ten laps at least anyway, it's usually pretty good. And then you should catch up on everything in between. Jack: That's right. And just while we're on it, so the top ten shootout is on Saturday, the tenth of October, and it is at sixteen five in the afternoon, so. Mark: So four five is that 'cause we have started daylight savings now, so it'll be three five for us. Jack: We have that'll be three FR for us, yep. Mark: Yep, so everyone remember that if you're in New South Wales listening. first of all, move. and secondly, it's at four five. and for Jack: No. Mark: Queensland it's three five for the top ten shootout on Saturday. Just remember Jack: Yeah. Mark: that. Jack: It's the best one of the year, you don't want to miss it. Mark: That's it. Moto GP as well. You want to talk about this one this week? Jack: Yeah, so Matter G P race in Japan at Mategi this weekend. not a good weekend for the Japanese riders. But Mark Marquez, I think he did a clean sweep, he did the sprint race and the GP, so I'll just do the podium. So the sprint race was Mark Marquez. Moreira come second and Jorge Martin in third and then the actual Grand Prix. Mark Marquez clean that up again. Jorge Martin in second and Marco Bazecchi in third. So it was a great race. Martin come out to sort of race at the start. pulled a little bit of a gap. I think they had some tire issues on the Friday, Saturday, rear tyre issues especially, where the tyres are just chewing themselves to bits. So I think Mark Marquez is probably just feeling the tyres a little bit. And then once he decided, Yep, it's my time to go and he just yeah, launched and off he went. So excuse me. not a little win for him, which is great for me. Mark: You luck him, do you? Jack: Yeah, he's bit of a favourite. Mark: Yeah. Jack: He's an absolute superstar of sport. so yeah, the I'll just do the top three of the championship standings as well, so we got Jorge Martin in first on three thirty three points, Mark Marquez in second, three thirty one, so he's only two points behind. Mark: Close. Jack: And Marke Bedzeggi in third on two eighty four, so he's forty nine points behind Mark, so Mark: How many races have they got left there's not? It's not many left now, is there? Jack: there is still a few. Mark: Okay. Jack: give me two seconds and I will So we got Indonesia, Australia, Malaysia, Qatar, Portugal and Valencia. So there's still quite a few rounds to go. Mark: I guess Yeah. Any anyone's game at this point in time? Jack: Yeah, a hundred percent and you know any one of those three, you know, Pedro Acosta's in fourth, right behind so any one of those four really can swoop in. Mark: Yep. Yeah, I'd like to see Acosta get up there a little bit further too. Yeah, yeah. Be good to get him on the podium at the end. He's gonna be he's gonna be quick. Jack: Yeah, a hundred percent, yeah. But next year on a Jacati, huh It'll be unstoppable. Mark: That's it. Alright, let's move on now. comeback story. I wanted to talk about this last week, but we didn't really have any stories at that point in time. this is on the back of the Knights, going from wooden spooners last year to ending up second, in the in the in the in the games this year. So have you got any other comeback stories outside of Kim Kardashian? Jack: Look, a little bit of research. I got a f three games, from the NRL, so we might start Mark: NRL games, yep, all right. Far away. Jack: back in the past year and go nineteen ninety eight. Mark: Mm. Jack: The Cowboys versus the Panthers. The Cowboys trailed twenty six nil after the first half, Mark: Phew. Jack: and they come back to win at thirty six twenty eight. So that second half must have been absolutely brilliant. Mark: That's a g that's a good second half, isn't it? Jack: two thousand nine, Panthers vs Warriors. Panthers trailed thirty two to six and they come thirty two thirty two for a draw in that round. Mark: Ooh, that's another good second half too. Jack: That would have been an awesome game to watch. Mark: that would have been insane. Yeah. Jack: and twenty twenty three. So near a few years ago, Dolphins versus the Titans. Dolphins strailed twenty six nil after thirty three minutes and come back to win twenty eight twenty six. Mark: Shit. Jack: So Mark: That's some great second half. Look, I I do have one we sort of touched on him a little bit earlier. I want to look up more comeback stories because I think this is a great segment. We could we could probably have some fun with this one too. but we talked about this man a little bit earlier, Tiger Woods. he Jack: Hi yes. Mark: he'd had a little bit of time off after his first injury and and everything like that. he came back in twenty nineteen. he had back surgery He had some scandals, and it would have ended anyone else's career, but he came back and won the twenty nineteen championship as well. So like th that that's up that's gotta be up there, right? Yeah. Jack: I remember that twenty ninety masters he won. Just the way he was walking down the eighteenth green fairway there, like, holy hell this guy's on. He yeah. Yeah. Mark: He was a he was switched on, he was ready to go. Yep. Jack: That was an incredible round of golf. Mark: That's it, it really was too. Absolutely loved watching that one too. It's good. Alright, we'll keep going as well. you might have seen this earlier and I know we talked about it pr as well, but I think I found a motorsport that we are actually qualified for. The downhill barbie car racing. It looks insane. Jack: Mm. Mark: It's basically if you haven't seen it, do yourselves a favour, just Google Barbie car downhill racing. it's basically grown adults getting into plastic children's plastic cars and sending themselves down a fucking Jack: Okay. Mark: hill as fast as they can. There's no brakes. You got your feet, you doing the old Flintstone brakes I think. Even if but you know, you're not gonna win if you do that. So have you seen it? Jack: Yeah, the video you sent me there racing down this hill. Like it's steep too. Mark: Yeah. Jack: And half don't even make the landing at the bottom, which is just a little pit of water. Not very deep, but mind Mark: well Jack: you. Mark: actually that one that I sent you, they actually they come down the hill and they actually have to do it dog legs to the left, so they're meant to turn a little bit, but a lot of Jack: Or are they? Mark: missed that turn and just went straight off the edge into that water. Jack: fuck especially to do this in America, right, where healthcare isn't free or cheap. Like those guys are nuts. Mark: They're nuts, but geez, it'd be fun until you crash. They were axing themselves, they were going off the cliff and like the cart was landing like halfway up their chest. If the if they hadn't broken a few ribs, I don't know what they've done there. There was the w one guy as well, he's this dude screaming down the hill and he's taking photos and he's had to like line himself up and he jumped over the cart as it just veered off the cliff. It was awesome. I love it. Jack: I'd love to know how fast they get 'cause like the way they roll and cartwheel down the hill, it's impressive. Mark: Yeah, they must be they must be booking it, I'd love to know how fast they're going down there, but would you actually do this? I'd love Jack: a hundred percent. Yep. Mark: to do it as well. Yeah, just chick chuck a helmet on way you go. Jack: Yeah. Give me a neck brace these days, 'cause yeah, not as young as I once was, but Mark: Yeah, that's where you can muck Jesus running down a hill. Yeah. Jack: Yeah. He says I can run these days. Mark: Yeah, that's it. another question, how fast are you going down those things before you start considering your li reconsidering your life choices? Like are you going to consider your life choice at this point? Are you just gonna go just roll with it? I've chosen to do this, you Jack: Nah, I think what Mark: just go down. Jack: I think once you committed you committed, right? Let's just write it out, yeah. Yeah. Mark: Yeah. Yeah, I agree there too. Look, I reckon they're probably doing fifty K's an hour, if not more, down the hill there. Like they're they're booking it. They're going so quick. Jack: The way they come off and crash and roll and carry on. It's it's incredible. Mark: Just go limp and then roll. That's that that's the that's the the catch, isn't it? And if you're gonna fall off one of those things just just ragdoll it. we've talked about this in the past as well, though. It's similar to the it's on the same sort of theme as the Barbie car downhill racing, but not quite. we talked about this a few years ago doing a north south or south north Vietnam trip on motorboxer scooters. We want to do it with Dad, but obviously he probably can't do that at Jack: Mm-hmm. Mark: the moment and I don't think he wants to get on a plane either. Jack: It's a bit old these days. Mark: that's it. So we we talked about doing that. I'd still love to do that, Jack: Yeah. Mark: at some point in time in my life, but I wanna move on to something in in inside all this. We talked about doing the Lemins, which was down the Gold Coast, which was basically just almost an endurance race on scooters for two people. You know, just do a couple of Jack: Yeah. Mark: laps, yeah. Jack: It was a twenty four hour endurance race, on scooters. Mark: Yeah. Yeah. Jack: they drew some big names too, I think Troy Bayless did it one year. Mark: Yeah, yep. Jack: so like it would have been a great race to be part of, but I think it's it's done and dusted near. Mark: Yeah, I can't find anything on it. It ended a few years ago as far as I'm aware and that that was the last I've heard of it. but I did see on Facebook the other day about the Queensland minimoto events. I would love to Jack: Okay. Mark: do that. I think that would be awesome. Like I think they're fifty C C bikes. You just strap in. They may not be fifty, I'm pretty sure they are though. And just get on, do a couple of races. How good would that be? Jack: They're those little road bike looking things, right? Like really tiny. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. Mark: Yeah, that's them, yeah. Yeah. Super tiny, your knees are up around your head like you're just fucking screaming along there. How good would that be? Jack: I remember back in my go kart racing days that they would come under the track occasionally. And yeah, they look like a lot of fun. Yeah. Mark: I reckon there would be, hey, I'm gonna seriously look into it. I think we probably do something like this on our podcast. It'd be it'd be awesome, right? We just get out there, Jack: A hundred percent, yeah. Yeah. Mark: film the day, talk shit, whatever goes on. I do have an alternative to that which we'll talk about later as well, which I think we should probably look at doing as well. Jack: Yeah. Hmm. Okay. Mark: actually fuck it, let's talk about it now. If Jack: Ha Mark: we don't do the mini moto event, I think we could take our podcast on the run, and do the variety bash. Jack: Mm-hmm. Ooh. I don't hate the idea. Mark: Thoughts? You don't have the idea, you're open to considering it? Jack: I think there's a lot of rules around it though. I think there's like certain age car, you gotta Mark: Don't fucking ruin my fun here. Like let's not talk logistics shit, let's just talk do we want to do it? And then I'll find out the rules and then we'll fucking work it out. Alright, you're in? Done. Jack: Well the short answer is yes. Yeah, I mean, let's do it. Mark: Alright. S rules aside What's our car look like? What are we getting? Jack: Well it's gonna be a falcon, I reckon. old wagon, I reckon would be ideal. You know. The old Shagan wagon. Mark: Gotta be a falcon, you reckon a falcon? Yep. Ooh. yeah, the wag wagon falcon, yes. Yes, yep. Jack: yeah, X D X F, X E one of those? Yeah. Yep. So something like that, I reckon. Make it as stupid as possible. Mark: X yeah, w we used to have an XF but when we were kids. Yeah. Alright. Yep. Something easy. That's it. We'll get some get s get our F2F logo on there as well. Like Jack: Yep. Mark: Yep, make the podcast as we go. We'll see if we can crash and or die. Or all of the above. Look, I I think it I think it'd be awesome Jack: Hundred percent. Mark: to do. if we don't get in the minimoto events, maybe that's something we can look at doing for next year. 'cause it's already it's already done this year. I think it comes in August. Jack: Yeah, I think it is done. I actually know someone who's did it this year, so yeah. If we need any tips I can reach out to them. Mark: Yeah, nice. Yep. All right. Yeah, all right. Let's let's lock that in. if you're listening in twelve months' time we will be doing the variety bash, I hope. Look, we've Jack: Hmm. Mark: talked a lot of shit over the time. We talked about doing the podcast. It took us ages to do it. I really want to kick Jack: Yeah. Mark: on with this. and I I think a variety bash should actually be pretty cool. Jack: I think Okay, this is gonna be very sentimental, but I think we need to actually do shit before we get too old to do it. And we're rapidly Mark: Exactly, exactly. Which is where Jack: approaching that time. Mark: yeah we are. And look we as I said we w you we we want to do that north south Vietnamese trip on the bikes, so I think that's something we we we do before we get definitely to get too well for that. but yeah, look if if we can do either the Minimoto or a variety bash, I'm I'm all I'm all for it. All Jack: Yep, let's do it. Mark: right. Alright, now let's talk about the pub question. this week. we're actually running a little bit l a little bit long today. We'll see how we go. Jack: yeah, too. Mark: Yeah. as everyone knows, these questions are designed so you can just talk to your mates at the pub about them. hence the segment, the pub question. So, my question to you tonight, Jack. If you could Jack: Mm. Mark: see one statistic about your life, beers drunk, hours wasted, kilometers driven, money spent on shit, whatever, what would you like to know? Jack: Cool. That's a good one. Mark: Second part to that question while you're thinking about it is what's the stat you don't wanna know? Jack: I'd love to know how many beers I've drunk. And how many kilometers I've driven, 'cause I reckon that'd be I don't think they do. Mark: The numbers go up that high. Jack: I think I'd shock myself, to be honest. Mark: Yeah, I think you would too. Jack: 'Cause I'm sure there's quite a few beers I've drunk that I don't remember. Mark: Yes. Jack: and a stat I wouldn't like to know is probably how many beers I've drunk. 'Cause if you Mark: It's one of the same. Jack: if you equate that to a dollar value, holy shit. I've spent some money over the years. Mark: Well there's th th th there's you there's your one. You wanna know how many beers you drunk, but you don't want to know how much money you've spent on it. Yeah. Alright, there's your two Jack: Yeah, there you go. Yep. Mark: questions. Look to be honest, I don't actually know on this one. I think kilometres travelled would would be interesting. back in a previous previous life I was doing a lot of driving for my employer at the time. So I was in the car all day every day. so that one would be interesting to know. and yeah, look, I I agree with the money spent on shit. on how much how much money have you wasted on shit over the years that you haven't needed that you haven't got Jack: yeah. Mark: enjoyment out of or anything like that. I think that's for everyone. And that brings me on to the next question about cost of living 'cause Jack: Yeah. Mark: you know, we were gonna talk about business this week but I think we we probably put that to the side 'cause as I said we wanna t Jack: Yeah. Mark: we wanna talk in detail about how to set up a a proper business and how to get on with it. So so yeah, from a cost of living point of view, how much money do you spend on shit in a week? Yeah. I think it's it's probably rained in a lot in the last few years for myself. Jack: Yeah. Mark: yeah. Jack: well just yesterday I had to get fuel for for my car. it's diesel, so was it two ninety two a liter? Two hundred and six dollars to fill the thing, which is just absolutely insane. Mark: Yeah, we were about a hundred and eighty six the other day filling ours up too, so Jack: They could have at least taken me to dinner first before they raped me, but you know, they do all that to everyone, so. Mark: Well, that's it. Jack: I think I spoke about the Costco thing last week where we signed up for that, so it's a little bit cheaper there. Twenty, thirty cents a litre. Doesn't sound like much, but you know. Mark: Adds up when you do the driving you do. Jack: When your fuel bill's a thousand twelve hundred dollars a month, it definitely adds up. and the streaming services, you know, I've cancelled a few this week myself. all those little things, they just really add up. Mark: Yeah. Jack: Yeah. I'm even considering catching the train to work. For my Yeah, I know right. Mark: O Who are you? Jack: For my full time job. just 'cause it's fifty cent fares, like Mark: Yeah. Jack: it'd cost me, I don't know, probably ten, fifteen dollars to drive in there and back every day. I am considering it, haven't done it yet. I'm not a fan of public transport but I think that's just something I'm gonna have to get used to. Mark: Yeah, look it's not bad. When you gotta do it you you just you just get in the mindset and you just do it, so yeah. All right. weird shit of the week. Now we've done this three weeks in a row and it's all been about shit, literally. Jack: Mm. Mark: but this one, this what this one's just funny. I I had to put this one in 'cause I thought it was hilarious. so Jack, there's a politician in England who's been accused of deliberately attacking another politician during a four hour council meeting. What do you reckon he actually did? Jack: god. Being shit related, are we going back to monkeys here or they're throwing poo at each other across the room? Especially in England, holy Mark: look we could be. Yeah, have a guess. How good would that be? Jack: those cancel chambers get out of control. Mark: Yeah, they really do, don't they? no, look, he didn't throw shit at anyone, unfortunately. but let me let me Jack: Mm-hmm. Mark: tell you what he did. He was in a council meeting in Blackburn in England. it descended into an argument after one councillor was accused of deliberately farting in the direction of another councillor during a four hour meeting. Th when I read this, the first thing that came to my mind was Monty Python Search for the Holy Grail, where he's like, I fart in your general direction Jack: Have you seen them fart guns? You could use one of them these days. Yeah. Mark: Yeah, how good's that? You can sit across chambers and just fucking pop it at him. yeah, so basically an elected official was apparently accused of using a fart as a political weapon. The councillor on the receiving Jack: Political weapon. Mark: end reportedly complained to the mayor about it. Imagine that. And the accusation came as part of the drama surrounding the meeting. to be clear the farting allegation is an accusation rather than an established fact. But that's that's sort of where it's gone. Jack: So good. Mark: Look at Jack: It's not even worth saying anything, you just I'm just gonna fart in your general direction and you can just suck on that. Mark: Exactly. So that w that brings a couple of questions up actually in my in my head. does deliberately fighting on someone count as an act of aggression? Like Jack: Well, a hundred percent. We've all been crop dusted, right? And we've all done the crop dusting, so Mark: Yeah. Jack: it's definitely an act of aggression. Mark: Do you would you consider actually no, let me rephrase that question. At what point does a fart become assault? Does there need to be eye contact? Like Jack: Like pink eye. I dunno, I think if you can taste it that's that's gonna be a salt, right? yeah. Mark: Yeah, look smelling it's one thing, but tasting it that's that's that's a rank fart that one. Maybe you need to maybe you probably shut yourself full it through. Hmm. Jack: Yeah. Mark: shit, that's so good. And should farting on someone be an acceptable way of ending an argument? Jack: Ooh. Mark: Yeah good. Jack: I think it should be. Especially Mark: It should be. Jack: if like you both know who's won the argument, right? So Mark: Yeah. Jack: if the person who has won farts on you Yeah, Rado. I take it. Yeah. Mark: Maybe that's how you finish an argument now. Maybe maybe that's it. If you win you get the fart on me, if I win I get a fart on you. Is that how your argument should go nowadays? Jack: What's agree to disagree and just fight on each other? Mark: I fucking love it. How good is that? Alright, we'll move on from that one. What's your birdie and your bogey this week? I don't have a birdie as such this week. I think Newcastle win coming close to winning the grand final's probably gotta be up there for my birdie. my bogey this week is I'm trying to connect my canning software through to the ATO to do single touch payroll systems, everything like that. Jack: Hm. Gross. Mark: connecting that has been the bane of my existence today. I don't know what the fuck's going on. Maybe they're doing some work on the systems, I don't actually know, but it's not been fun. It's yeah, I almost lost my shit today at it, so Jack: Hmm. Anything with my gov, my D, whatever it is, is just fucking awful. Mark: Yeah. Not much fun at all. Jack: No. Anything have to do with the government yet. Leave me out of it. Mark: Yep, I agree. So yeah, what's your Purdy and Bogey? Burgie being Purdy being good, Bogie being bad. Burgie. Jack: Burgie. Birdie look, it's been night chief, so that's a tough one to ask this week, but definitely the grand final. even though I wasn't stoked with the result. What a game. Like, that's all I could hope for was just a bloody good game. I didn't want sixty to twenty, I wanted one or two points in it and yeah. Knights did exceptionally well. Mark: Yep. Perfect. They sure did. Jack: Burgie probably We're having a few issues with our Google workspace connecting to YouTube, so we're Mark: Yes, we are, aren't we? Yeah. Jack: on every profile imaginable to launch our podcast except for YouTube. So it's something I need to really put some time into and try and figure it out. Mark: Look, let's put the question out there to our listeners if anyone has had this issue before where we just can't connect our we we can't make a YouTube account for for the podcast Jack: Yeah. Mark: for whatever reason. It's just come out we've got an error. We've tried to work through it, we've bought the Google workspace, we've done all that sort of stuff, it just doesn't seem to want to work. So if anyone's got any ideas on that or has a way to fix that, please let us know. Jack: We can't even access the YouTube website at all. It just comes up with the T V screens on top of each other. Nah. Error. So God is fucked. Mark: Yep, cunt's fucked. All right, we'll wrap this thing up today. what do you what do you got on before our next week's episode on Wednesday? Jack: well I got lots of work over the next two days. a few big gardening jobs coming up. Young fella's got a soccer breakup on the weekend, so that'll be fun for him. Mark: Yeah, nice. Mm-hmm. Jack: Yeah, apart from that I think I think that's about it. Mark: Yep. I don't have a huge amount on. I've got a a client evening tomorrow, so I got invited from a client that I haven't worked with for a while. the last project I work on them they've broken ground on, so they're doing a bit of a celebration, getting their consultant team together. so going Jack: Yeah, very good. Mark: out to their joint tomorrow night, have a few beverages and a bit of a networking session, so that'll be good. Jack: Hm. Is that what you call it these days? Mark: Yeah, yeah, just trying to run a bit more business for myself, and have a few beers at the same time. What can't you do? Jack: Yeah, could I? Mark: so yeah, that'll be good. Other than that, not not too much. I think my partner and I are sc got a going out on the weekend together, having a dinner or whatever we end up doing, so that'll be nice. that's pretty much it. So we'll Jack: Mm hmm. Very good. Mark: yeah, we'll work out a few things to talk about next week as well and yeah, if you if listeners, if you've got anything you want us to s you want us to talk about, the email is admin at fairweatherfriday dot com. Also you can put a comment underneath our podcast too on all of our platforms that we're on. I do have one final question for ya. All right. I think as part of the podcast, every month or two we go out and we do a we we go play a sport, whether it be darts, pool, lawn bowls, go karts, we go to the driving range, we set up a fucking competition and we see who is the any sport. Jack: Hm. Okay. Mark: any sport. I'm thinking darts, pool, lawn bowls, go karts, just there's a few that I've just got in the mind. and we have a competition. Who is the best Jack: Yep. Yeah. Mark: at said sport? You can't you Jack: I like it. Mark: can't train for it. Obviously the driving range we do we obviously both play, so that's always a interesting one. but you can't train for it. We just go right this night we're gonna go out here, we're gonna play darts, talk about it, film it, maybe bring it back to the podcast, see who's the winner, see who's the loser. winner takes all Jack: Yep. Mark: Maybe being a crispie five, kicking the balls, whatever it is, like what it w Yeah, that's it. Maybe yeah, maybe someone farts in it, makes you smell it. I don't know. look, we probably could, yeah. Let's give it a go. Yeah, okay. Jack: A perpetual trophy, just a little cup or something, you know? Yeah. Hey, we might be able to sell that one day. Yeah, I'm key mate. We live thirty minutes from each other, so I'm sure we can make that work. Mark: I'm sure there's places in between us as well, so we'll we'll we'll make that work. I Jack: Sure. Yep. Mark: do like the idea though, so I think we should look into that. Jack: Hm. Yeah, definitely. Mark: we are looking at merchandise as well for anyone else that's out there as well. We're looking at a couple of hats to start with. We'll probably get on the show as soon as we can. a couple other things as well. So if there's any any you guys have got any ideas about things that you'd like us to see, like to see from us, let us know. Otherwise, until next week. Keep it real, homies. Jack: Just okay. Mark: Let's wrap it up there. Alright. Jack: See ya s next time. Mark: See you guys.
