- 0:09Speaker 1: Adam Amine is with us. We enjoyed having him on
- 0:11Speaker 1: last time. He's a big tennis fan. We will finish
- 0:14Speaker 1: out this segment here with blind rankings tennis players all time.
- 0:20Speaker 2: That's why you mentioned he's a big tennis fan for
- 0:22Speaker 2: so many things that he does, but let's mention it
- 0:23Speaker 2: he's a big tennis fan first.
- 0:25Speaker 3: Yeah, I get it.
- 0:26Speaker 4: What game are you not calling this week? Adam Amine?
- 0:29Speaker 5: Not calling any tennis? Unfortunately?
- 0:31Speaker 6: No, we got dug between NBA for the Bulls and
- 0:33Speaker 6: the World Baseball class.
- 0:35Speaker 5: Think it's going to be a fun next you know
- 0:37Speaker 5: ten days.
- 0:37Speaker 2: Basically, did you ever wake up and not know what
- 0:40Speaker 2: sport you're going to be talking about that day?
- 0:42Speaker 6: Because I've legitimately woken up and not known the city
- 0:47Speaker 6: for a few minutes, Like I have to replay the
- 0:51Speaker 6: we got in.
- 0:52Speaker 5: At what time last night? And what day is it today?
- 0:54Speaker 5: And do we have a game or off day today?
- 0:56Speaker 6: And do I have to take a flight on my
- 0:58Speaker 6: own to go do something else tomorrow while I'm away
- 1:00Speaker 6: from the team. That has happened many times on several
- 1:05Speaker 6: occasions on a consistent basis, And.
- 1:07Speaker 3: Then you figure out what's sporting?
- 1:08Speaker 5: Yeah, and then you figure out.
- 1:09Speaker 6: It's like, all right, well it's you're in Phoenix today,
- 1:12Speaker 6: you're doing this. We got basketball tonight.
- 1:14Speaker 5: Cool, got it.
- 1:16Speaker 1: But figuring out geography is the most important thing first.
- 1:19Speaker 4: Yeah, just a bit.
- 1:19Speaker 6: Just have a general sense of place, I think is
- 1:21Speaker 6: a good establishing factor for what you're doing that day.
- 1:25Speaker 4: Taylor has an idea.
- 1:26Speaker 1: I want to get to this because I was shocked
- 1:28Speaker 1: to hear it before. The fact that you dj after
- 1:31Speaker 1: calling games is the most shocking thing I've ever heard.
- 1:34Speaker 5: Of my entire shocking. Yeah, I get god, what is
- 1:38Speaker 5: this guy do?
- 1:39Speaker 3: How does that look like? After a game?
- 1:41Speaker 4: You then go terrible, I mean.
- 1:44Speaker 3: And go to a club and start DJing there.
- 1:47Speaker 6: So last year I was doing a Cubs Phillies game
- 1:51Speaker 6: in Chicago and April and it was like a three
- 1:54Speaker 6: o'clock game. It was like an afternoon game, and a
- 1:56Speaker 6: friend of mine, like I've been I started DJing when
- 1:58Speaker 6: I was thirteen. My brother bought me like turntables, like
- 2:01Speaker 6: real turntables. I went to record shops, I bought records,
- 2:04Speaker 6: and then CDs came into play and you had to
- 2:07Speaker 6: burn your own.
- 2:08Speaker 5: CDs and things like that.
- 2:09Speaker 6: So that's a major major factor when you didn't have
- 2:12Speaker 6: to spend, you know, twelve bucks per record every time
- 2:14Speaker 6: you wanted to get a new piece of music. So
- 2:16Speaker 6: I started DJing from the time I was thirteen until
- 2:21Speaker 6: probably I was twenty three. I was working in Iowa
- 2:23Speaker 6: my first job, and I even did it there, and
- 2:26Speaker 6: then when I got hired by ESPN I was twenty four,
- 2:28Speaker 6: I just stopped doing it. So then, you know, ten
- 2:31Speaker 6: eleven years later, I was kind of feeling some creative stagnancy,
- 2:34Speaker 6: so I think I would let me go figure out
- 2:36Speaker 6: what the equipment is like these days and how you.
- 2:38Speaker 5: Set it up. So a few years ago I started
- 2:40Speaker 5: DJing again.
- 2:40Speaker 6: And I live in Chicago. It's the house music capital
- 2:43Speaker 6: of the world. There's a million DJs. Everybody and their
- 2:45Speaker 6: boyfriend is a DJ in Chicago, so you know, it's
- 2:48Speaker 6: a crowded market. But I knew some people, and I
- 2:50Speaker 6: had some friends, and I just wanted to do it
- 2:52Speaker 6: a little bit, so I started doing it again. And
- 2:55Speaker 6: there's been occasions where I'll call a Cubs game in
- 2:58Speaker 6: Chicago or a Bears game for a Bulls game, and
- 3:01Speaker 6: after the game, I'll race over to a club and
- 3:04Speaker 6: play like, can.
- 3:06Speaker 3: We be friends?
- 3:06Speaker 2: Can I just be like your assistant and we just
- 3:09Speaker 2: go everywhere because.
- 3:10Speaker 4: I kill Yeah, but I want to go to bed.
- 3:12Speaker 4: I don't want to be as assistant. You sleep in,
- 3:15Speaker 4: come on.
- 3:17Speaker 6: The schedule gets very messed up, but I feel like
- 3:19Speaker 6: I feel like Izzy would have the hook up in
- 3:22Speaker 6: a great music city.
- 3:23Speaker 5: It's Miami Music Week later this month.
- 3:25Speaker 2: That's it gets crazy down here. I try to avoid
- 3:28Speaker 2: the chaos.
- 3:29Speaker 5: Well, here's the thing.
- 3:30Speaker 6: I don't like being in clubs. I hate clubs. I
- 3:32Speaker 6: hate clubbing, I hate go I hate going out. I
- 3:35Speaker 6: like performing. The performing part is the fun part. Yeah,
- 3:39Speaker 6: the music part is what I like.
- 3:41Speaker 4: But you realize how that comes off.
- 3:42Speaker 1: It'd be like you're saying, hey, I don't like being
- 3:44Speaker 1: in baseball stadium.
- 3:45Speaker 2: So no, it's like you get the insulation, like you're
- 3:50Speaker 2: not in that crowd with everybody around you, you throwing all
- 3:53Speaker 2: kinds of viruses in your face. You're at the DJ booth,
- 3:55Speaker 2: you're separate, and you're performing. You can actually see the
- 3:58Speaker 2: reflection the reactions on the face of what you're doing
- 4:00Speaker 2: for them.
- 4:01Speaker 5: I like being a thermostat. I like setting the temperature
- 4:03Speaker 5: of the room, you know, and I like it. I
- 4:04Speaker 5: like that to be part of that. That's nice.
- 4:08Speaker 1: Who's the most like random celebrity? Have you had celebrities
- 4:11Speaker 1: come out to see you DJ?
- 4:13Speaker 6: Not?
- 4:14Speaker 4: You know?
- 4:14Speaker 5: Other?
- 4:14Speaker 6: Well after my favorite gig so far maybe was I
- 4:18Speaker 6: did a Cub game on a Saturday night in Chicago
- 4:21Speaker 6: and I had a friend of mine in Wrigleyville who
- 4:25Speaker 6: runs a bar it's called HVAC Pub, and he goes, hey,
- 4:28Speaker 6: we need do you want to play a set here
- 4:30Speaker 6: after the Cubs game? Because I know you're calling the
- 4:32Speaker 6: Cubs game, We'll just let you play.
- 4:34Speaker 5: The main set. I'm like, yeah, sure.
- 4:37Speaker 6: So I finished a Cub game and I go across
- 4:40Speaker 6: the street to this barren pub club and I DJ for.
- 4:44Speaker 5: Like two hours and A. J.
- 4:47Speaker 6: Pierzinski, who's my broadcast partner, came out to the cup
- 4:52Speaker 6: hung out, and I thought that was cool as it
- 4:55Speaker 6: was like Age's friend. You know, we've worked together for
- 4:57Speaker 6: a long time, you know, five six years we worked together,
- 4:59Speaker 6: a five. I mean he's been a good friend. And
- 5:01Speaker 6: he came out and I didn't know he was going
- 5:04Speaker 6: to bring Ken Rosenthal.
- 5:06Speaker 5: Sixty some year old, wow.
- 5:08Speaker 6: Five foot four, not where it takes off the bow tie,
- 5:12Speaker 6: so it's Ken Rosenthal. Wow, hanging out at a club
- 5:16Speaker 6: with a bunch of like twenty somethings, did you change the.
- 5:20Speaker 4: Bit?
- 5:20Speaker 6: I know, I didn't want to gear it towards them.
- 5:23Speaker 6: I gotta geared towards the kids. I call him kids too, Like.
- 5:26Speaker 5: That's what's weird about it.
- 5:26Speaker 6: But like, I'm right in the middle of, like I think,
- 5:29Speaker 6: the age where I have enough of a knowledge of
- 5:31Speaker 6: music that has come before me and enough of a
- 5:34Speaker 6: connection to younger people.
- 5:36Speaker 5: That I have an idea about what they like now.
- 5:40Speaker 6: And you know, that's that's like a nice, uh sweet
- 5:43Speaker 6: spot I think to be in right now.
- 5:44Speaker 5: If you're you know, in your late thirties.
- 5:46Speaker 6: You have a you have a good connect good connectivity
- 5:48Speaker 6: to a lot of different types of people what they like.
- 5:50Speaker 4: Wait, so is you wanted him to cater to Ken
- 5:52Speaker 4: Rosenthal and not the kids?
- 5:54Speaker 6: Yeah?
- 5:54Speaker 3: You know, I don't even know what they used to
- 5:57Speaker 3: go to the clubs for.
- 5:58Speaker 4: I don't I don't know.
- 5:59Speaker 5: What Rosenthal like.
- 6:00Speaker 6: If he's like, if he's right around sixty, you know,
- 6:03Speaker 6: thirty years ago, you know, Sadiscoe nineties, I feel like
- 6:07Speaker 6: you probably enjoyed some some nineteen eighties, like you know, freestyle.
- 6:12Speaker 6: I feel like, you know, there's you know, sapphire or
- 6:15Speaker 6: something like that might might fit into him a little bit.
- 6:18Speaker 4: How late did he stay?
- 6:19Speaker 5: He stayed until l like midnight, which I which I respected.
- 6:23Speaker 5: I didn't think.
- 6:23Speaker 6: I didn't think he would he would last as long
- 6:25Speaker 6: as he did. He stayed till midnight. I was out
- 6:27Speaker 6: till like one or two am. So how about aj
- 6:30Speaker 6: oh ajjj He might have been still there.
- 6:34Speaker 5: He might he might have had the after party on
- 6:36Speaker 5: his own. Who knows.
- 6:39Speaker 4: H Taylor has an idea.
- 6:40Speaker 1: He trotted it out yesterday on National Radio about what
- 6:44Speaker 1: the about what major League Baseball should do?
- 6:47Speaker 4: H with the Chicago White Sox. Go ahead tailor.
- 6:50Speaker 7: Soudam, I've kind of got swept up in this world
- 6:52Speaker 7: baseball classic. Love, love the event, love the uh the
- 6:56Speaker 7: pride that each country has. I was watching the Dominican
- 6:59Speaker 7: Republic exhibition game in the d R Electric when Soto
- 7:03Speaker 7: hits that home run, I want to relocate the Chicago
- 7:06Speaker 7: White Sox to the Dominican Republic.
- 7:11Speaker 6: This is like what Sean con wants to do with
- 7:13Speaker 6: the Jaguars. Just have him playing in London full time,
- 7:15Speaker 6: Like we'll just do for the Dominican.
- 7:17Speaker 1: He also went on to say, when you're walking down
- 7:19Speaker 1: the street in Chicago, when someone says, and this never happens, Hey,
- 7:22Speaker 1: where's the baseball field?
- 7:23Speaker 4: Everyone's going to tell you and point to Wrigley.
- 7:26Speaker 6: You know, they'll point to the red line. They don't
- 7:29Speaker 6: tell you that the that the brown line can take you.
- 7:31Speaker 6: The other director write to the south side.
- 7:36Speaker 2: Now we're on Taylor here, So Adam Taylor just moved
- 7:40Speaker 2: into this place that he's in right now.
- 7:42Speaker 5: And yes, his fist fancy shelving and everything.
- 7:46Speaker 2: Yeah, yesterday we we ripping them because those shelves are empty.
- 7:48Speaker 2: And he just built a bunch of Ikia stuff. And
- 7:50Speaker 2: now I have to give him ship for having the
- 7:53Speaker 2: NBA Cup on there. Like the most problem is the
- 7:58Speaker 2: champions I.
- 7:58Speaker 6: Mean, is the thing the first that has to be
- 8:02Speaker 6: the first time I've seen any any like NBA Cup
- 8:07Speaker 6: paraphernalia whatsoever T shirt, like T shirt that says twenty
- 8:12Speaker 6: twenty five NBA Cup.
- 8:14Speaker 5: Haven't seen one of those.
- 8:15Speaker 6: I haven't seen anybody hold up, hold up a ring
- 8:18Speaker 6: that says NBA Cup champ. That is the first piece
- 8:20Speaker 6: of paraphernalia that is celebrating the NBA Cup other than
- 8:23Speaker 6: the actual NBA Cup I've ever seen in my life.
- 8:26Speaker 4: When you're a Knicks fan, you'll take any championship you
- 8:28Speaker 4: can get, man.
- 8:29Speaker 6: I like I appreciate the prominence of the North Carolina
- 8:33Speaker 6: football helmet.
- 8:34Speaker 5: Though. I like that that that took president.
- 8:37Speaker 4: That's where he played. Of course, did you actually play practice?
- 8:44Speaker 4: He walked on in practiced.
- 8:46Speaker 6: Well, I walked out of practice, man. Like, I've always
- 8:49Speaker 6: been a closet North Carolina fans. My brother loved the
- 8:51Speaker 6: basketball team growing up. And then you know, one of
- 8:53Speaker 6: our close friends is Mac Brown. And obviously, when as
- 8:55Speaker 6: soon as he took the North Carolina job, because we
- 8:58Speaker 6: were working together at ESPN, when he took the the
- 9:00Speaker 6: UNC job again, so I became a de facto North
- 9:03Speaker 6: Carolina fan football fan once again.
- 9:05Speaker 5: So Taylor in that sense, Yeah, a lot of a
- 9:09Speaker 5: lot of big time Max, a lot of big Max
- 9:11Speaker 5: at North Carolina and Chapel Hill.
- 9:13Speaker 1: So you have the first two US games versus Brazil
- 9:17Speaker 1: and Great Britain, and Taylor yesterday was talking about just
- 9:19Speaker 1: how emotional this thing gets. And I wish we can
- 9:23Speaker 1: kind of bottle that up and hand it over to
- 9:26Speaker 1: Major League Baseball. When these go, these guys go back
- 9:28Speaker 1: to their respective teams. But is that the thing that
- 9:30Speaker 1: makes it the most intriguing and emotional just playing for country,
- 9:33Speaker 1: playing for the flag.
- 9:35Speaker 5: Yeah, I think so.
- 9:35Speaker 6: And you know, I hear the Olympic comparison sometimes and
- 9:39Speaker 6: I think it is very much like soccer. People take
- 9:40Speaker 6: the World Cup to heart, I feel like in a
- 9:44Speaker 6: lot deeper of a fashion than maybe they do the
- 9:47Speaker 6: Olympics in soccer, and I think that translates over to
- 9:49Speaker 6: baseball as well, whereas like the World Cup of Hockey
- 9:52Speaker 6: might not have the same emotional detachment that say, the
- 9:55Speaker 6: Olympics that we just saw in Italy had. So for
- 9:58Speaker 6: you know, for whatever reason, this has become premier international event.
- 10:01Speaker 6: I think a lot of it just has to do
- 10:02Speaker 6: because you get the MLB guys, You get the best,
- 10:05Speaker 6: truly the best talent in the world, and a lot
- 10:08Speaker 6: of the guys who play in Major League Baseball, most
- 10:10Speaker 6: of these guys that they can represent their country or
- 10:12Speaker 6: represent a country that they have a you know, a
- 10:14Speaker 6: slight connection to or a slight background with, like you know,
- 10:18Speaker 6: Jazz Chisholm is playing, you know, for Great Britain, Trace Thompson,
- 10:21Speaker 6: like they have some lineage, so you know, whether it's
- 10:23Speaker 6: Behavian or whatever it might be, they have the opportunity
- 10:25Speaker 6: to do this. I'm studying up on Brazilian baseball and
- 10:28Speaker 6: you know the nineteen twenties, you know, Japanese immigrants, you know,
- 10:32Speaker 6: make up a large population of the non Brazilian population
- 10:35Speaker 6: in the country, and they brought the game over and
- 10:38Speaker 6: it's always had this really deep connection. Even though they
- 10:40Speaker 6: haven't had a ton of success. There becomes this this
- 10:43Speaker 6: matter of pride about even the smallest lineage or the smallest.
- 10:47Speaker 5: Connectivity that you may have.
- 10:49Speaker 6: And then you go and hear what all these guys
- 10:51Speaker 6: from the Team USA are talking about, Aaron Judge and
- 10:53Speaker 6: Paul Skeins, and you know the comments they've made about
- 10:56Speaker 6: how this is really really meaningful. And I think the
- 10:59Speaker 6: fact that there is a global power too. Japan has
- 11:02Speaker 6: become the global power in this sport, you know, having
- 11:06Speaker 6: won three of these in the last several times out
- 11:10Speaker 6: the US, having gone down to the wire and that
- 11:12Speaker 6: great finished in twenty twenty three with trout against Otani
- 11:16Speaker 6: to finish off the final game. I think there's a
- 11:19Speaker 6: lot of those lingering memories, even if guys aren't taking
- 11:23Speaker 6: the twenty seventeen WBC to heart. What they saw three
- 11:27Speaker 6: years ago still sticks with them, and that's why you
- 11:29Speaker 6: get Aaron Judge taking over the captaincy of this team.
- 11:32Speaker 6: That's why you get the discussions that we've heard over
- 11:35Speaker 6: the last week about how much this means to a
- 11:38Speaker 6: lot of guys. Whether it's in the United States, whether
- 11:41Speaker 6: it's in the dr whether it's Cuba, Puerto Rico, whatever,
- 11:44Speaker 6: this means a lot to a.
- 11:45Speaker 5: Lot of people. And I think that buzz that.
- 11:47Speaker 6: We've seen the last couple of times that this thing's
- 11:50Speaker 6: been televised. I've never called one of these games, so
- 11:52Speaker 6: I'm very much looking forward to just feeling what it's
- 11:55Speaker 6: like in the building in Houston, and when we get
- 11:58Speaker 6: to the quarterfinals, if it is you know, the US
- 12:00Speaker 6: against let's say they played Venezuela again, the emotions from
- 12:04Speaker 6: what they felt three years ago that Trey Turner Grand
- 12:07Speaker 6: Slam in the seventh dating in that you know, electric game.
- 12:10Speaker 6: The atmosphere is what they're like. And then obviously there's
- 12:12Speaker 6: some political discourse that's taking place over the last year
- 12:15Speaker 6: as well that is probably going to fuel a little
- 12:17Speaker 6: bit of the fire for some of these players and
- 12:19Speaker 6: teams and countries. There's a lot that goes into the
- 12:22Speaker 6: feeling of this event right now, on top of you know,
- 12:26Speaker 6: the best players in the world playing a sport against
- 12:29Speaker 6: each other in this that competition.
- 12:30Speaker 7: Adam, what would you say to Yankee fans who are
- 12:33Speaker 7: wondering if there's any correlation between their lack of winning
- 12:37Speaker 7: World Series and Aaron judges pregame speech. I guess to
- 12:42Speaker 7: the team, say.
- 12:44Speaker 5: You wanted a little bit more.
- 12:45Speaker 6: You thought that was a glimpse into what the Yankees
- 12:48Speaker 6: locker room might be like August fourteen.
- 12:51Speaker 5: Yes, guy, I could have used a little more.
- 12:53Speaker 4: I mean he did.
- 12:55Speaker 7: I saw that and I was like, okay, now it
- 12:57Speaker 7: makes sense why the Blue Jays kind of dragged this
- 12:59Speaker 7: in the playoffs, right.
- 13:00Speaker 1: But then he saw the moonshot he hit once the
- 13:02Speaker 1: game start and was like, Oh, that guy's good.
- 13:04Speaker 6: This is one of those classic let my play do
- 13:06Speaker 6: the talking type of things.
- 13:07Speaker 3: That's that's what that's what I think actually talking.
- 13:11Speaker 6: I was gonna say, like, I want to see who
- 13:13Speaker 6: the guy's going to be. That that gets these guys
- 13:15Speaker 6: fired up. Like Bregman's not like the loudest guy, but
- 13:18Speaker 6: he's he can be an inspirational dude. I've been around
- 13:20Speaker 6: him a couple of times in his college and pro
- 13:22Speaker 6: career when he's you know, little fire under some of
- 13:24Speaker 6: his guys. It's not going to be Schemes. You know,
- 13:26Speaker 6: Schemes isn't going to do anything, but he's going to
- 13:28Speaker 6: let his play do the talking. I think that is
- 13:30Speaker 6: interesting to see the way that, you know, not to overgeneralize,
- 13:35Speaker 6: but I think, you know, we we see it from
- 13:36Speaker 6: Latin American countries, their fan bases, the energy that they
- 13:40Speaker 6: pour into their players, and the reciprocation of that energy.
- 13:44Speaker 6: I think it comes down to style of play. I
- 13:47Speaker 6: don't think America has ever really had a ton of
- 13:51Speaker 6: I would say elite, elite, elite level players that have
- 13:55Speaker 6: the wildest personalities. I think the best players in America
- 13:59Speaker 6: have typically been and kind of the quieter guys, the
- 14:01Speaker 6: more intensive, the more internal. I think those types of
- 14:06Speaker 6: personalities where you look at some of the Latin American countries,
- 14:10Speaker 6: even going over into Europe into players from Czechia and
- 14:14Speaker 6: things like that. Brazil certainly has a little bit of
- 14:17Speaker 6: that as well. This kind of flair for the sport,
- 14:20Speaker 6: the emotions of the game, the crowd, feeds into them
- 14:22Speaker 6: and they feed it back to them. You know those
- 14:25Speaker 6: moments that we saw. I think it was in the
- 14:26Speaker 6: semi finals of few years ago in Raindy Euros. Arena
- 14:28Speaker 6: makes that catch at the wall and kind of, you know,
- 14:31Speaker 6: poses and puts acrosses his arms and he can kind
- 14:34Speaker 6: of feel that the electricity of that moment from the
- 14:36Speaker 6: fan base of Mexico going into him and the way
- 14:39Speaker 6: he kind of projects that out. That's one of the
- 14:41Speaker 6: things I do love. I wish that the US had
- 14:44Speaker 6: a little bit more of that. Maybe as the games
- 14:46Speaker 6: intensify and some new players have found themselves in the fold,
- 14:49Speaker 6: maybe we'll see a little bit more of that emotion,
- 14:51Speaker 6: even if it's in little little spurts. But I do
- 14:54Speaker 6: love that part of it from watching players around the
- 14:58Speaker 6: world and the electricity that the fans bring to these
- 15:01Speaker 6: events and how they reciprocate that anytime they make something
- 15:04Speaker 6: cool happen.
- 15:05Speaker 5: On the field.
- 15:05Speaker 2: Adam, I have a question for you, But at first
- 15:07Speaker 2: I want to say I knew I wasn't crazy. You
- 15:09Speaker 2: mentioned Cechia and I was like, when did they start
- 15:12Speaker 2: shortening the name? I was like, you're right, they called
- 15:15Speaker 2: the Czechoslovakia my whole life writer or the Czech Republic
- 15:18Speaker 2: or whatever. I just looked it up that officially applied
- 15:23Speaker 2: to have that registered as their name July fifth of
- 15:26Speaker 2: twenty sixteen, So it's only it hasn't even been ten
- 15:28Speaker 2: years now thanks.
- 15:29Speaker 4: To go about that. I mean, I thought I.
- 15:34Speaker 8: Was going crazy.
- 15:34Speaker 4: I thought I loved it.
- 15:35Speaker 6: I saw c Chechi at one point, I was like,
- 15:38Speaker 6: who is this a new country that I missed?
- 15:40Speaker 5: Like, Hi, did I miss an.
- 15:42Speaker 6: Entire international event in an Eastern European country that I
- 15:46Speaker 6: was just completely unaware of? And I know I'm not
- 15:48Speaker 6: the most globally political, politically savvy person on the planet.
- 15:52Speaker 5: I was like, I know there's something there.
- 15:53Speaker 6: So I had to convince my girlfriend's twelve year old son,
- 15:56Speaker 6: who knows like every country by shape and recognition, like
- 16:00Speaker 6: you can just see it and know what it is.
- 16:02Speaker 5: He's like, that, what's check Ya.
- 16:03Speaker 6: Because I said, I think I think that's Checkia And
- 16:06Speaker 6: we had to go look it up together the other day.
- 16:08Speaker 4: So I'm.
- 16:11Speaker 5: In the same boat.
- 16:12Speaker 4: I'm curious. So you said, it's your first WBC.
- 16:15Speaker 2: What kind of things like only in the WBC stuff
- 16:18Speaker 2: are you like prepared for that? Maybe is like a
- 16:20Speaker 2: different in terms of the call, even if it's like
- 16:22Speaker 2: the atmosphere.
- 16:25Speaker 6: The hope is that the atmospheres are what we've come
- 16:29Speaker 6: to traditionally know where it is loud in between pitches
- 16:31Speaker 6: like that does. I've always said that, especially do in TV,
- 16:35Speaker 6: that the crowd is another element, another tool that you
- 16:39Speaker 6: should use to make your broadcast better. And when the
- 16:42Speaker 6: crowd is great, And this is why playoff baseball is,
- 16:45Speaker 6: you know, one of the greatest things I've ever been
- 16:47Speaker 6: fortunate enough to call, just especially you know, these last
- 16:49Speaker 6: couple of years we've had great series, have been very
- 16:51Speaker 6: fortunate in great atmospheres, whether it's New York or Philly,
- 16:55Speaker 6: or Seattle or Detroit. The last couple of times I've
- 16:57Speaker 6: gone out and done playoff games, like you you do
- 17:00Speaker 6: take a step back because you do see how every
- 17:03Speaker 6: pitch gets magnified. And that's why playoff baseball, much like
- 17:05Speaker 6: playoff basketball in the NBA, feels like different sports, the
- 17:09Speaker 6: NFL does not feel like a different sport when you
- 17:11Speaker 6: watch the playoffs. Maybe you might get coaches be a
- 17:14Speaker 6: little bit more aggressive because it's a done situation or whatever,
- 17:17Speaker 6: but the sport itself, the energy is kind of played
- 17:20Speaker 6: and ridden the same way.
- 17:22Speaker 5: It is.
- 17:22Speaker 6: Hey, here's a play. Let's enjoy the emotion of the
- 17:24Speaker 6: play or the result of it. All, right, what's the
- 17:26Speaker 6: next play? After another thirty second break as teams, you know, regroup.
- 17:31Speaker 6: In baseball during the regular season, a June twelfth game
- 17:34Speaker 6: is going to feel a lot different than one played
- 17:36Speaker 6: on October twelfth. And I think when you get to
- 17:39Speaker 6: the WBC, depending on the country, depending on the atmosphere,
- 17:43Speaker 6: depending on the location, depending on the fan base, all
- 17:46Speaker 6: of that certainly, but you do feel like there is
- 17:48Speaker 6: a a heightened sense of energy magnification of all of
- 17:53Speaker 6: these pitches. You may not feel it in the second
- 17:55Speaker 6: inning of USA Brazil, but you'll feel it come quarter
- 17:58Speaker 6: final time. You'll get it in the knock out stages
- 18:00Speaker 6: of this tournament. So, you know, I think we want
- 18:03Speaker 6: to use that as a tool. I think the other
- 18:06Speaker 6: part that you get to explore a little bit is
- 18:10Speaker 6: talking globally.
- 18:12Speaker 5: You know, I have had to learn a little bit.
- 18:14Speaker 6: About the history of Brazil and its connectivity to Japan.
- 18:17Speaker 6: Why they have so many Japanese players or you know,
- 18:21Speaker 6: Japanese citizenship players that are born in South Polo. The
- 18:25Speaker 6: manager Yuichi Matsumoto for Brazil. He was born in South
- 18:30Speaker 6: Paolo became a Japanese citizen about twenty years ago used
- 18:33Speaker 6: the name Yuichi's name is actually Danielle Matsumoto, but he
- 18:37Speaker 6: uses the name Yuichi because he didn't want his citizenship
- 18:40Speaker 6: to count against the foreign player limit that teams in
- 18:44Speaker 6: Japan have. The only they have room for a couple
- 18:46Speaker 6: of foreign born players on all of these rosters, because
- 18:49Speaker 6: this is high level baseball being played in Nippon, whether
- 18:52Speaker 6: it's an NPB or the Central League or the Pacific League.
- 18:55Speaker 6: So like learning a little bit about the history of baseball.
- 18:58Speaker 6: First manager for the Scinnati Red Stockings in the eighteen
- 19:01Speaker 6: sixties was British born, so great Britain does have a
- 19:04Speaker 6: little bit of this lineage with the sport going back
- 19:06Speaker 6: to the nineteenth century. I think there are some cool
- 19:09Speaker 6: things that we can sprinkle in as a production crew.
- 19:12Speaker 5: Myself as an announcer.
- 19:15Speaker 6: You know, I'm working with Adam Waynwright and Agent Prazinski,
- 19:17Speaker 6: and you know their curiosity might might come into play.
- 19:20Speaker 6: So I got to be a little bit, you know,
- 19:21Speaker 6: on my toes, ready to answer some question or at
- 19:24Speaker 6: least have a working knowledge of the of the backgrounds
- 19:27Speaker 6: of these countries and their connection to baseball. So I
- 19:30Speaker 6: think that those are a couple of things that are
- 19:32Speaker 6: a little bit different. But at the end of the day,
- 19:34Speaker 6: same deal as all. As you document what's in front
- 19:36Speaker 6: of you, you ride the emotion of the moment, you
- 19:38Speaker 6: try to put it into context and hopefully have some
- 19:40Speaker 6: fun along the way.
- 19:41Speaker 2: It does feel like a team named the Red Stockings
- 19:43Speaker 2: should be managed by a British guy.
- 19:44Speaker 6: Just that by the way, Yeah, well, what do you
- 19:48Speaker 6: think all name should be the Stockings?
- 19:52Speaker 5: Is that right?
- 19:53Speaker 6: Like?
- 19:53Speaker 5: That was the first time I've even tried. I didn't
- 19:55Speaker 5: think today I was going to like, hey's not that
- 19:57Speaker 5: British accent. I've been working. Did not work on that
- 20:00Speaker 5: at all.
- 20:00Speaker 6: Just busting it out because for you guys at the moment,
- 20:02Speaker 6: I'm so sorry for anybody who had here.
- 20:04Speaker 4: No, we appreciate you doing it, Adam.
- 20:06Speaker 1: That urgency you talk about and the excitement that you
- 20:08Speaker 1: talk about with the fan base, the NFL, all those games.
- 20:12Speaker 1: The NFL has figured it out, College football has figured
- 20:14Speaker 1: it out. Every game feels like a playoff game because
- 20:17Speaker 1: there are so few games.
- 20:18Speaker 4: There's only seventeen of them.
- 20:20Speaker 1: And with this it simply stakes an urgency, right, the
- 20:23Speaker 1: season's not as long.
- 20:24Speaker 4: They're playing for the country.
- 20:26Speaker 1: There's urgency, there are stakes attached to it, don't you
- 20:28Speaker 1: think Major League base Because you're right, game seventy two.
- 20:31Speaker 1: Regular season it's hard to get excited for, right, but
- 20:34Speaker 1: post season very easy to get excited for. It's the
- 20:37Speaker 1: best of five or best of seven. I'm wondering if
- 20:40Speaker 1: you think Major League Baseball should kind of learn from
- 20:43Speaker 1: from the NFL college football and maybe shorten the season
- 20:46Speaker 1: a bit and try to create that urgency throughout the
- 20:49Speaker 1: regular season.
- 20:50Speaker 6: I've kind of thought about this lately just because of
- 20:54Speaker 6: the discussion around the NBA and some of the anti
- 20:56Speaker 6: tanking measures that Adam Silver is going to want to
- 20:58Speaker 6: try to implement next.
- 20:59Speaker 5: Year, Like how do you combat that?
- 21:02Speaker 6: And certainly one of the suggestions has been will cut
- 21:04Speaker 6: down the amount of games? And that's going to, you know,
- 21:06Speaker 6: at least force the urgency, the height and the weight
- 21:09Speaker 6: of each of these games to rise. Like it's two
- 21:12Speaker 6: to one baseball to basketball, it's two to one baseball
- 21:15Speaker 6: to hockey. But when you look at the NFL, like
- 21:19Speaker 6: ten baseball games is basically worth one NFL game, Like
- 21:23Speaker 6: that's significant, you know, stakes. And I also am at
- 21:26Speaker 6: the point where I look at the NFL and don't
- 21:28Speaker 6: get me wrong, I love calling NFL and I'll call
- 21:30Speaker 6: as many games as I get a chance to because
- 21:31Speaker 6: it is fun. It is that sense of urgency every
- 21:34Speaker 6: single game. I still wonder, are we coming to a
- 21:38Speaker 6: critical mass when it comes to the amount of games
- 21:41Speaker 6: that they want to play?
- 21:42Speaker 5: Now? Yes?
- 21:43Speaker 6: Do I think by a second by week will help
- 21:46Speaker 6: if you're going to extend the season to eighteen games, Yes,
- 21:49Speaker 6: I do. But I also know that at times we've
- 21:52Speaker 6: seen the level of play very diluted, especially early in
- 21:55Speaker 6: the season, like the first month of the year has
- 21:57Speaker 6: almost become like a de facto preseason in for the NFL.
- 22:01Speaker 6: I look at Major League Baseball. I always I remember
- 22:03Speaker 6: working a couple of different minor league baseball seasons. I
- 22:06Speaker 6: did a one hundred and twenty six game year. I
- 22:08Speaker 6: did one hundred and forty game year, and I thought, man,
- 22:11Speaker 6: we got to September, like late August, all these games
- 22:14Speaker 6: feel like way more important, so and they feel more
- 22:17Speaker 6: urgent earlier and earlier. You know, we've got twenty games
- 22:20Speaker 6: left in the NBA season. Basically, the Bulls have played
- 22:23Speaker 6: sixty two games that I had sixty three, and we're
- 22:26Speaker 6: already at that countdown phase where it's like, oh, man,
- 22:29Speaker 6: that liked three a lot. A lot of folks are
- 22:32Speaker 6: already chanting for it or kanekoon or wherever you're preferred
- 22:35Speaker 6: destination might be, or whatever sounds good in the chance.
- 22:38Speaker 6: But I think all of these leagues and I don't
- 22:41Speaker 6: think they'll do it, obviously for obvious reasons that I'm
- 22:44Speaker 6: sure have been discussed a million times. Ownership doesn't want
- 22:46Speaker 6: to give up the revenue. You know, they make money
- 22:48Speaker 6: on the gate, they make money on ticket sales, all that,
- 22:51Speaker 6: But will the quality of play? Are we reaching a
- 22:53Speaker 6: critical mass in sports where quality of play gets so
- 22:56Speaker 6: diluted because of the length of seasons, because of the
- 22:59Speaker 6: compact times of these games.
- 23:02Speaker 5: The NBA has.
- 23:03Speaker 6: Had that problem for a little while too, where there's
- 23:05Speaker 6: very little practice time. The Bulls are taking a full
- 23:08Speaker 6: off day on Friday and Phoenix exact two days between games.
- 23:12Speaker 6: They're going to have an actual practice on Saturday before
- 23:16Speaker 6: they play again on Sunday. And that's been a rarity
- 23:19Speaker 6: for the Bulls and I think for a lot of them,
- 23:20Speaker 6: I'm sure for every NBA team because they play similar schedules,
- 23:23Speaker 6: it's hard to find practice time. So a lot of
- 23:26Speaker 6: the younger players in this league that are coming up,
- 23:28Speaker 6: the nineteen twenty, twenty one to twenty two year olds,
- 23:31Speaker 6: they're getting their best opportunities in the seven minutes they
- 23:34Speaker 6: might get to play in a game, and that's just
- 23:37Speaker 6: not conducive to a high level of play. So I'm
- 23:40Speaker 6: wondering what the critical mass across professional sports is going
- 23:42Speaker 6: to be. We're finally owners and players and coaches, and
- 23:46Speaker 6: I think the loudest voices, hopefully would be the fans
- 23:49Speaker 6: to say the quality of play has been so heavily
- 23:53Speaker 6: deluded that these guys do need a break. And maybe
- 23:57Speaker 6: somebody is willing to say, will take on less money
- 24:01Speaker 6: if it means a greater health for the long term
- 24:05Speaker 6: exposure of the sport. I don't know if we'll ever
- 24:07Speaker 6: get that, because I just don't know if that's in
- 24:09Speaker 6: a lot of human beings nature to do that.
- 24:11Speaker 5: Money it's not, it's not, and have.
- 24:14Speaker 6: To help themselves in the short term. Who gives a
- 24:17Speaker 6: ship about the long term, Because I'm not gonna be
- 24:19Speaker 6: here that seems to be a general mentality that takes
- 24:21Speaker 6: over for a lot of people in high up positions
- 24:23Speaker 6: in sports and probably across corporations in every line of work.
- 24:26Speaker 6: I do think that, you know, there is going to
- 24:29Speaker 6: be a critical mess, and I'll wonder what.
- 24:30Speaker 5: I wonder what the response will be to that.
- 24:32Speaker 2: I've got an idea. Hear me out, Yeah, an in
- 24:35Speaker 2: season tournament.
- 24:40Speaker 6: Do you do you think I think there should be
- 24:43Speaker 6: like I don't know, we could call it a cup
- 24:45Speaker 6: or something like that.
- 24:46Speaker 5: I don't know if that would actually help. I don't know.
- 24:48Speaker 5: I'm not sure I can. I say.
- 24:52Speaker 6: The question is, can I sell merchandise like maybe replica
- 24:56Speaker 6: trophies to some suckers out there?
- 24:58Speaker 5: I don't know if they're I don't know if anybody
- 24:59Speaker 5: can act is actually gonna fall for that?
- 25:03Speaker 6: Me?
- 25:03Speaker 4: Taylor would?
- 25:04Speaker 5: That's what That's what's called the callback. Guys.
- 25:09Speaker 3: It's it time to play blind rankings.
- 25:12Speaker 1: It is, yes, but before we get to blind rankings.
- 25:15Speaker 1: Sorry about the call back, Before we get to uh
- 25:17Speaker 1: to blind rankings. The Bears are not leaving Chicago, right,
- 25:21Speaker 1: There's no way they play in Indiana. I know Indiana
- 25:23Speaker 1: is the center of the football universe right now. But
- 25:25Speaker 1: there's no way the Bears are going to play there.
- 25:28Speaker 6: Right Listen, listen until you drive through Gary and you
- 25:31Speaker 6: see that delightful ham in the skyline. Don't don't quit,
- 25:34Speaker 6: don't don't knock until you've you've driven through the smokestacks, right,
- 25:38Speaker 6: is all I'll say. I used to work in Gary,
- 25:39Speaker 6: Indiana is one of my first jobs, and we'd drive
- 25:42Speaker 6: in a in a Northwest Indiana plenty, and I always thought,
- 25:44Speaker 6: I don't know, I don't know if this is this
- 25:46Speaker 6: is the setting for it, but I do think there
- 25:48Speaker 6: was a lot of jock.
- 25:49Speaker 5: It's just a lot of political jockey. You know.
- 25:51Speaker 6: It's been to the frustration in chagrin of a lot
- 25:54Speaker 6: of fans in the city, and I'm sure in Indiana too.
- 25:56Speaker 6: I have no blame to the state of Indiana for
- 25:58Speaker 6: trying to do so thing that would help their own state.
- 26:01Speaker 5: There's nothing wrong with that.
- 26:03Speaker 6: I think the frustrations lie with you spend all this
- 26:06Speaker 6: money on a suburban Chicago you plot, you know over
- 26:09Speaker 6: where Arlington Heights Racetrack used to be. You spend all
- 26:11Speaker 6: this money on it. You wanted, The plans seemed understandable.
- 26:14Speaker 6: It's what the Patriots have done. It's what the cowboys
- 26:16Speaker 6: have done. And let me literally, if I'm Jerry Jones
- 26:19Speaker 6: or Bob Kraft, what did they do. They took all
- 26:21Speaker 6: the land around those surrounding areas, bought up all the
- 26:25Speaker 6: leases for it, sold them out. That's what the Cubs
- 26:27Speaker 6: have done. And Wrigleyville in Lakeview and stuff like that
- 26:31Speaker 6: they own, They print money, and.
- 26:33Speaker 5: That's like, all right, it seems like a sound business idea.
- 26:35Speaker 6: I don't love the idea of the Bears not being
- 26:37Speaker 6: in the city, but it makes sense when you consider
- 26:39Speaker 6: what's happening around the NFL and if it's going to
- 26:41Speaker 6: help the health of the organization. And then you're playing
- 26:45Speaker 6: with people's emotions by saying, well, now we're going to
- 26:47Speaker 6: leave the state. I never was convinced that was going
- 26:49Speaker 6: to be the case. I always thought it was a
- 26:51Speaker 6: political move. It seems like that's what it's s geering towards.
- 26:54Speaker 6: And it seems like the Bears are going to end
- 26:56Speaker 6: up in Arlington Heights, where they were probably going to
- 26:58Speaker 6: go in the first place. At the they bought up
- 27:00Speaker 6: all that land of years ago.
- 27:01Speaker 2: Right, that's all it is. Yeah, Well, well, Stu collects
- 27:04Speaker 2: his list of ten names. Have a couple of quick
- 27:06Speaker 2: hotel questions for you. One did you make your bed
- 27:08Speaker 2: a little bit just for us?
- 27:10Speaker 5: I did? I did.
- 27:12Speaker 6: How could you tell, though, because that means you knew
- 27:14Speaker 6: it was not perfect. It's not It's not like I
- 27:17Speaker 6: just checked in. I clearly slept in this thing last night.
- 27:20Speaker 6: But you're like, it seems like there might be a
- 27:22Speaker 6: little bit of touch up here.
- 27:23Speaker 3: But I appreciate that. You know you don't want to
- 27:25Speaker 3: messy background.
- 27:26Speaker 4: Well, do you get deep into the bed?
- 27:27Speaker 1: Because my wife refuses to sleep on the sheets in
- 27:30Speaker 1: a hotel, like, she will not get under the cover,
- 27:32Speaker 1: She'll bring her own blanket.
- 27:35Speaker 6: Like, I think part of it is just it you're
- 27:36Speaker 6: so exhausted, the point where we just ripped the bed,
- 27:38Speaker 6: you know, the betting off, and then get underneath.
- 27:40Speaker 5: Right, I do have a question do you guys?
- 27:43Speaker 6: So first off, whether you have significant others or not, curios,
- 27:47Speaker 6: do you sleep on one side of the bed?
- 27:48Speaker 5: Do you do?
- 27:49Speaker 8: You?
- 27:49Speaker 5: Guys?
- 27:49Speaker 6: Just like like I, I sleep on the same side
- 27:52Speaker 6: of the bed every single night. My significant other sleeps
- 27:55Speaker 6: on one side of the bed every single night that
- 27:57Speaker 6: we're together. And then when I travel, I just sleep
- 28:00Speaker 6: in that singular lane.
- 28:02Speaker 5: I can't I'm not a starfish guy. I can't do it.
- 28:05Speaker 5: I don't feel right doing that.
- 28:06Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't know if I starfish, but I definitely
- 28:08Speaker 2: just pick the side of the bed that's closest to
- 28:10Speaker 2: the bathroom. Doesn't have to be the same one.
- 28:13Speaker 4: Right, So, if you're facing the are you a left
- 28:15Speaker 4: side or a right side face?
- 28:17Speaker 6: If I'm looking at the bed from the foot of
- 28:19Speaker 6: the bed, I'm on the left side.
- 28:21Speaker 5: The sleeping in the bed, I'm on the right.
- 28:23Speaker 4: Yes, same, very good question by you.
- 28:28Speaker 5: Hard hitting stuff.
- 28:29Speaker 8: Is that portrait?
- 28:30Speaker 2: Is that painting above the bed just a man in
- 28:32Speaker 2: a golf fair way staring at nothingness?
- 28:35Speaker 6: No, so it's it's actually a kind of fascinating. I
- 28:38Speaker 6: think it's more it's a photograph. It is a man.
- 28:41Speaker 6: He's wearing blue jeans and blue shoes, but whatever coat
- 28:45Speaker 6: he's wearing is image of the photo itself, so it's
- 28:51Speaker 6: almost like a photo.
- 28:51Speaker 5: Within a photo.
- 28:52Speaker 3: It's kind of a fascinating, interesting.
- 28:54Speaker 5: Piece of photography. I've never seen something like that.
- 28:56Speaker 1: But if you remind the audience, he's in one of
- 28:57Speaker 1: the golf capitals of the world, right it's a golf
- 29:00Speaker 1: here is Are you in Scottsdale right now?
- 29:02Speaker 6: We're just outside of scott So yeah, we're in Arizona
- 29:06Speaker 6: right now, enjoying enjoying the golf capitals.
- 29:09Speaker 4: Getting around in with AJ or what's happening there?
- 29:11Speaker 6: Oh no, well, I this would be one of those
- 29:14Speaker 6: trips where you're like, all right, well, let me take
- 29:15Speaker 6: the day off. Of course, I got the five am
- 29:18Speaker 6: wake up call.
- 29:19Speaker 5: Tomorrow to go back to the airport.
- 29:20Speaker 4: So after your DJ set.
- 29:23Speaker 6: Said down and whatever Scottsdale watering holder might be, and
- 29:27Speaker 6: boy does it feel like Scott's now all right?
- 29:29Speaker 1: Now we appreciate this time. He loves tennis. We discussed
- 29:31Speaker 1: this last time. I wanted to start a tennis podcast
- 29:33Speaker 1: with him. God blessed tennis. We'll talk about that another time.
- 29:37Speaker 1: Taylor has blind rankings here, okay, and I believe his rankings.
- 29:41Speaker 1: Now you have no idea what ten names he has down.
- 29:44Speaker 1: He's going to give you a name and you've got
- 29:45Speaker 1: to slot him into a spot.
- 29:47Speaker 4: Okay, we're going.
- 29:48Speaker 7: Through one through ten, and just to be clear, not
- 29:51Speaker 7: a top ten. So this is just a random list
- 29:53Speaker 7: of tennis players.
- 29:54Speaker 2: Okay, okay, but we need to rank him in it
- 29:57Speaker 2: at our top ten.
- 29:58Speaker 1: Yeah, so we all it's just three of us need
- 30:00Speaker 1: to agree, all three of us.
- 30:02Speaker 8: Three separate lists.
- 30:04Speaker 4: Okay, three separate.
- 30:04Speaker 3: List Okay, okay, all right, all the time period, yes.
- 30:08Speaker 7: Take more confusing for the audience. First name up, John McEnroe.
- 30:13Speaker 3: Wow, Johnny mack Man. But I did not love his game.
- 30:19Speaker 5: I'm gonna put them. I'm gonna I'm gonna put them
- 30:22Speaker 5: closer to like nine. I feel like nine.
- 30:25Speaker 4: Wow.
- 30:25Speaker 1: All right because you feel like, you know, big guns
- 30:28Speaker 1: like Fetterer, Nadal, but they might not be on his list.
- 30:32Speaker 4: You realize it.
- 30:32Speaker 5: Might not be and that's the thing that might not
- 30:34Speaker 5: be in the list.
- 30:34Speaker 6: And then we're gonna put you know, some guy who
- 30:36Speaker 6: just showed up last week at number number four.
- 30:38Speaker 5: So but this is the this is the fun of it, guys.
- 30:41Speaker 1: Okay, I'm gonna put Johnny Mackett seven. Oh same, yeah, seven.
- 30:46Speaker 1: A couple of sevens cutting it up.
- 30:48Speaker 8: Next, name up, John Isner.
- 30:51Speaker 1: But what you see wait, one of the all time
- 30:53Speaker 1: great matches. It took a week to finish in Wimbledon
- 30:56Speaker 1: first round.
- 30:56Speaker 2: I'm into chats with.
- 30:59Speaker 3: John, isn't there?
- 31:00Speaker 4: Yeah? One, and you're not in that one Wow.
- 31:06Speaker 5: Towering, the towering serve that that man had man.
- 31:09Speaker 4: Yes, God see it.
- 31:11Speaker 5: And this gives me no wiggle room putting Mac and Rowan.
- 31:14Speaker 4: Of course, I'm trying to tell you. I trying to
- 31:16Speaker 4: help you out.
- 31:17Speaker 5: Now I'm stuck at ten.
- 31:18Speaker 1: Yeah, he's going to give you some much worse than
- 31:22Speaker 1: is there before.
- 31:23Speaker 5: It's going to be so bad. It's gonna be so bad.
- 31:25Speaker 5: I've already put myself in a hole.
- 31:27Speaker 4: I'm gonna put Isner at nine. Is he the same?
- 31:30Speaker 3: I mean, we've got the same list, so.
- 31:32Speaker 4: That go ahead?
- 31:35Speaker 6: More and more.
- 31:35Speaker 5: I feel like this is a trick.
- 31:38Speaker 3: We have no idea.
- 31:39Speaker 1: I always say ten for the wacky name he's going
- 31:41Speaker 1: to give us. Isner is wacky, but not too wacky.
- 31:44Speaker 8: You know, third name up? Team fed better out?
- 31:50Speaker 5: I mean for me, for me is number one? For me,
- 31:52Speaker 5: it's always been number one.
- 31:55Speaker 4: I'll put him number two. Is he only?
- 31:57Speaker 2: I'm but think of the names that could come up
- 32:02Speaker 2: that would like Joking ahead.
- 32:03Speaker 3: Of him, Joker.
- 32:04Speaker 2: I don't think I have fed I still think I
- 32:07Speaker 2: have prime fed.
- 32:08Speaker 1: Yeah, I would take a joker. I would take joker
- 32:11Speaker 1: over over Federer. But I have no idea if Joker's
- 32:14Speaker 1: coming up here. So and also I forgot to make
- 32:17Speaker 1: the joke Roger Cheddarer.
- 32:21Speaker 3: I don't know fed number one, it's just preference, all right,
- 32:25Speaker 3: I'm going.
- 32:25Speaker 1: Number two, beds two for me. I can't believe I
- 32:28Speaker 1: just did that fed number two. It's so fucking stupid.
- 32:30Speaker 1: I hate this game.
- 32:31Speaker 4: Go ahead, Taylor, the next name out? Oh, come on.
- 32:39Speaker 3: How am I supposed to figure this out?
- 32:42Speaker 4: What the whole? Yeah?
- 32:45Speaker 3: You know, I mean, obviously man.
- 32:48Speaker 4: Tennis player is a tennis player?
- 32:49Speaker 6: Is he? No?
- 32:50Speaker 2: I know, but it's tough likeable is like a real
- 32:53Speaker 2: power player, but also chokes at every cage almost every occasion.
- 32:58Speaker 3: She has.
- 32:59Speaker 5: That's what put what shows?
- 33:00Speaker 2: He has four titles, right, I can't put her in
- 33:05Speaker 2: the mace in row realm, but it's that's what that's
- 33:08Speaker 2: that's that's.
- 33:08Speaker 5: What I screwed up already. So this puts me in
- 33:10Speaker 5: a hole. I mean, I'm gonna put her. I'm gonna
- 33:12Speaker 5: put her at not knowing what else is coming.
- 33:15Speaker 6: I gotta give myself a little wigger room because I
- 33:17Speaker 6: didn't earlier her at seven.
- 33:18Speaker 4: All right, got her at eight right behind John Mcaree.
- 33:22Speaker 4: No is he we Ha's the only slot we had
- 33:24Speaker 4: for that's.
- 33:25Speaker 3: The only way you can put her in.
- 33:27Speaker 4: Go ahead, tell it is.
- 33:28Speaker 8: He what what number to drop?
- 33:30Speaker 4: Hey?
- 33:30Speaker 3: Elson?
- 33:31Speaker 8: Okay? Next name up? Nadal?
- 33:37Speaker 6: Wow?
- 33:39Speaker 2: Speaking of one trick ponies, I know we weren't Clay
- 33:43Speaker 2: Cord French Open.
- 33:44Speaker 4: I mean, do it. Yeah.
- 33:46Speaker 1: I want to say do it at the US Open
- 33:47Speaker 1: on the hard courts, but he did. I want to
- 33:49Speaker 1: say do it with Wimbledon, but he did. I want
- 33:50Speaker 1: to say do it in Australia but he did. But
- 33:53Speaker 1: also a one trip pony. I'm gonna put the doll
- 33:55Speaker 1: at number three.
- 33:57Speaker 2: You have to because you're anticipating a Djokovic appearance, right, yes,
- 34:03Speaker 2: of course right, it has ridiculous like.
- 34:08Speaker 4: The two of them.
- 34:10Speaker 6: I mean, I again, if we if we can remind
- 34:12Speaker 6: people just to not hate my lack of blind rankings,
- 34:17Speaker 6: you know, prowess here.
- 34:19Speaker 5: I I also do feel like the personal preference is
- 34:21Speaker 5: in there. I'll put him at four because.
- 34:23Speaker 6: I do feel like there might be one more personal
- 34:26Speaker 6: preference ahead of him.
- 34:27Speaker 5: If Taylor goes.
- 34:28Speaker 3: There and over there, people are gonna be out.
- 34:32Speaker 4: You have Adam Amine has Na Dolls, the fourth greatest
- 34:35Speaker 4: tennis player of all time, Jesus.
- 34:39Speaker 8: Is he what number did you f?
- 34:40Speaker 4: Three? Is he? And I have the same list except for.
- 34:43Speaker 3: One and two?
- 34:44Speaker 8: Next name up, Ben Shelton.
- 34:51Speaker 3: Man, there's gonna be more surprises in here.
- 34:53Speaker 2: Well, I will say Ben Shelton better all around player
- 34:57Speaker 2: than John, Isn't there?
- 34:59Speaker 4: Oh, no doubt.
- 34:59Speaker 2: What I'm slotting him behind isn't because I have got
- 35:02Speaker 2: slatting him the head of John McEnroe. I mean, I'm
- 35:05Speaker 2: gon back and row and Ben Shelton played, it would
- 35:07Speaker 2: be lights out Ben Shelton.
- 35:09Speaker 1: What if Prime Shelton played Prime Macim in a different game.
- 35:14Speaker 4: No, Shelton would kill him.
- 35:15Speaker 6: I agree with you, Yeah, I agree.
- 35:17Speaker 5: Just I mean listen that the power nature, then the
- 35:21Speaker 5: the the.
- 35:22Speaker 6: He brings, like just the power that he can bring
- 35:24Speaker 6: to any type of match to try to give a wrinkle,
- 35:28Speaker 6: like just the service alone.
- 35:29Speaker 5: I feel like would get back and ros problem.
- 35:31Speaker 1: I'm comfortably putting him at six, I'm putt him at ten.
- 35:34Speaker 4: He feels like you should be right behind, isn't there?
- 35:36Speaker 4: You know?
- 35:36Speaker 2: Nah, I'm waiting for a Taylor Fritz because talk about
- 35:38Speaker 2: personal preference.
- 35:40Speaker 5: Yeah, I haven't wait. What's the what's the lowest slote?
- 35:44Speaker 5: I have available? Right, you have a eight available? I want,
- 35:48Speaker 5: I gotta, I gotta put in my head. Yeah, i'll
- 35:52Speaker 5: slaught him in. Do I have seven? Opener?
- 35:54Speaker 6: No?
- 35:54Speaker 5: Or is that where that's? But I put her there?
- 35:58Speaker 5: All right, I'll put him, I'll put him.
- 36:00Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 36:00Speaker 2: Wowavlenka, go ahead, man looking up.
- 36:06Speaker 5: I'm so pissed there's.
- 36:07Speaker 2: Got to be another woman on this list coming up because.
- 36:09Speaker 6: It started so poorly, and I've got the whole methodology
- 36:13Speaker 6: of the blind ranking.
- 36:14Speaker 4: All right, you're tired. You're in Arizona? Is it you
- 36:18Speaker 4: called in games that called this week?
- 36:20Speaker 8: It is Billy Jean King. Wow?
- 36:24Speaker 4: Why did you do that? Billy Jean King? Oh my god?
- 36:30Speaker 1: I mean how I have to put her at number one.
- 36:38Speaker 1: I'm gonna put her at four, behind the doll, behind Federer.
- 36:42Speaker 1: I feel good about that.
- 36:43Speaker 5: Yeah, five for me since the right about right behind
- 36:46Speaker 5: it all.
- 36:46Speaker 2: That's twelve majors for Billy Jean King and then a
- 36:49Speaker 2: few more doubles.
- 36:50Speaker 6: She's great, yes, uh, obvious obvious cultural impact too, like.
- 36:55Speaker 3: Yes, number four?
- 36:58Speaker 4: Yep, shame for me? All right?
- 36:59Speaker 8: Tell Andre Agassy, Wow, talk.
- 37:05Speaker 2: About personal preference. I like him better than the doll.
- 37:11Speaker 2: I don't think I could do that, though.
- 37:13Speaker 4: You've been doing it the entire time.
- 37:16Speaker 6: Yeah, we'll just tag it his personal preference. I've got
- 37:18Speaker 6: him in and so I've got him at three. I've
- 37:19Speaker 6: got him in front of the doll.
- 37:25Speaker 3: Number five. Andre Agassy.
- 37:31Speaker 4: Is Agasy if Agasy cared, I.
- 37:33Speaker 2: Mean, I skipped school multiple times to watch that dude play,
- 37:36Speaker 2: and I believe the French open.
- 37:38Speaker 1: Yeah, I'll put Agazy at number five.
- 37:41Speaker 3: We do have the same list.
- 37:44Speaker 2: This is the last one right now, there's two more.
- 37:48Speaker 1: Six and one left. Okay, So what Adam I mean,
- 37:50Speaker 1: has what slots left?
- 37:53Speaker 8: It looks like he has four.
- 37:57Speaker 2: Yep and two two right, Okay, I've got two, one,
- 38:04Speaker 2: four and two left.
- 38:06Speaker 5: I I can't wait till Michael.
- 38:07Speaker 6: I can't wait till he says like Michael Chang shit,
- 38:09Speaker 6: and I gotta put him.
- 38:11Speaker 4: Know it's coming.
- 38:12Speaker 8: Next name up, Pete Sampress.
- 38:14Speaker 2: Oh yeah, wow, wow, wow, man, I know what he's
- 38:18Speaker 2: doing here. Yeah, it's not ten is gonna be a joker,
- 38:21Speaker 2: and I'm gonna have to put him a number ten.
- 38:23Speaker 4: I don't think it's gonna be joker.
- 38:25Speaker 1: I like, I have to put Sampress here at number
- 38:27Speaker 1: six behind Agacy, who Sampress beat a million times?
- 38:30Speaker 3: Yeah, so what do you got at him?
- 38:33Speaker 5: I got him at what I got left?
- 38:34Speaker 3: Two and four?
- 38:35Speaker 6: Four yeah, four four for me for for Sampress and
- 38:39Speaker 6: the Sampress Agacy rivalry was our was the one that
- 38:41Speaker 6: I think got me booked to tennis initially as like
- 38:45Speaker 6: a younger person, and then obviously you read up on
- 38:47Speaker 6: the history and everything and you learn about the characters.
- 38:49Speaker 6: But I think those those matches were the ones that
- 38:51Speaker 6: kind of got me booked for the spot.
- 38:53Speaker 3: I'm trying to read Taylor here.
- 38:55Speaker 8: Because what are your two numbers with Pete Sampras?
- 38:58Speaker 3: I have two and ten.
- 38:59Speaker 2: If I put said ten, yeah, I look like a
- 39:02Speaker 2: crazy person behind Sapalenka.
- 39:04Speaker 3: No behind John, isn't it okay?
- 39:07Speaker 2: And then that only anticipating Djokovic or even if I'm
- 39:11Speaker 2: like if then Andy Murray out there, I'm fine putting
- 39:13Speaker 2: them in number two. But that only leaves me with
- 39:16Speaker 2: Djokovic at number two, and I know he's gonna drop
- 39:18Speaker 2: some crazy name. So I think I think I'm gonna
- 39:22Speaker 2: put samper set number two because I think his number
- 39:24Speaker 2: ten is a wacky name.
- 39:26Speaker 1: I'm gonna Repete at number six and hold that hope
- 39:29Speaker 1: the tailor is gonna give us, you know, Djokovic here.
- 39:32Speaker 4: As the voto one, but it's not going to be that.
- 39:34Speaker 3: Go ahead.
- 39:35Speaker 8: So Adam has two? Is he has ten?
- 39:37Speaker 7: Stu?
- 39:38Speaker 4: You have what one? Whatever?
- 39:41Speaker 1: The next name out of your mouth is is the
- 39:42Speaker 1: greatest tennis player that's ever lent okay.
- 39:45Speaker 7: The final name on the list Serena Williams.
- 39:49Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yes, yes.
- 39:51Speaker 5: Sorry, good feel good about this. I feel much better
- 39:54Speaker 5: about this.
- 39:57Speaker 8: You tenzy, you dirty, dirty doggy.
- 40:02Speaker 2: I somehow have to live the rest of my life
- 40:05Speaker 2: with Serena Williams being two spots lower than Sablenka.
- 40:11Speaker 8: Good lord man.
- 40:12Speaker 4: What a talent you are?
- 40:14Speaker 5: Incredible stuff? Taylor, God, what a what a what a
- 40:18Speaker 5: you pull that us?
- 40:19Speaker 4: Oh god man?
- 40:21Speaker 5: What where our final list? Real quick?
- 40:23Speaker 4: Okay?
- 40:24Speaker 5: Go ahead?
- 40:24Speaker 3: Given his better one?
- 40:25Speaker 2: Sampress two, Nadal three, Billy Jean King four, Andre Agassy five,
- 40:29Speaker 2: Ben Shelton six, Oh my god, uh McEnroe seven, Sablenka eight, Isner.
- 40:34Speaker 3: Nine and Serena Williams that number.
- 40:37Speaker 7: Tip, So Adam, you had Federer one, Serena two, Agasy three,
- 40:44Speaker 7: Pete Sampress four, Billy Jean King five. Uh, we're six
- 40:51Speaker 7: having a hard time? Fund in six right now?
- 40:54Speaker 5: Sampress Where I put it? No, I've had Samprason four
- 40:58Speaker 5: Ma Sablenka. Yeah, I had like a over.
- 41:03Speaker 3: I take back at how good Taylor is at this game.
- 41:05Speaker 4: By the way, well.
- 41:07Speaker 8: It's it's on a computer. There's a problem.
- 41:10Speaker 7: I've I've Adam Amine having two fours.
- 41:14Speaker 4: Okay, double of fours, cutting it up? How about that?
- 41:18Speaker 4: So tie for third?
- 41:19Speaker 2: Nadalad Sampress ms just for Adam.
- 41:23Speaker 7: And then uh six, seven was Sabina, eight was Ben Shelton,
- 41:31Speaker 7: nine was John Johnny Mack.
- 41:33Speaker 8: Ten was Isner.
- 41:35Speaker 6: I don't feel as bad about it now except where
- 41:38Speaker 6: I put But like I God, I still feel like
- 41:41Speaker 6: I got hold winked a little bit and.
- 41:42Speaker 4: Rightfully so we all did.
- 41:44Speaker 1: Uh listen, I would give you my list, but I
- 41:46Speaker 1: was so excited for Serena Williams I threw it across
- 41:48Speaker 1: the room.
- 41:49Speaker 5: Is that? What is that?
- 41:50Speaker 6: Why we saw the camera tumbling it over for Yes.
- 41:53Speaker 4: I was trying to bond it.
- 41:56Speaker 1: Checking him out this weekend World Baseball Classic, He's got
- 41:59Speaker 1: nineteen games this week.
- 42:00Speaker 4: Hopefully he takes a week.
- 42:01Speaker 1: Off of DJing Adam I mean, we appreciate it. Man,
- 42:05Speaker 1: we'd like to do something next time I'm in Chicago,
- 42:07Speaker 1: I'd like to see you. Maybe we'll do something in studio,
- 42:09Speaker 1: please please, that'd be awesome. And then I got a dinner,
- 42:11Speaker 1: a spot ready for all.
- 42:11Speaker 5: Of us, so nice.
- 42:13Speaker 4: Yeah, something Now Taylor's coming
