Transcript
- 0:00SPEAKER_01: Hey gamma, hello! Welcome to the B Day Show, which we have the final test series from three to five.
- 0:21SPEAKER_01: This episode, Ada and I will share our thoughts and all the reviews from the last three test series.
- 0:27SPEAKER_01: From the third one was at the Gather.
- 0:29SPEAKER_01: Then we head over to Melbourne at the MCG, Melbourne Cricket Ground, and then into the fifth test series at the SCG in Sydney.
- 0:39SPEAKER_01: So what absolutely serious this was, and before hope you all enjoyed the first two, and I appreciate it, and all the big announcements will be coming at the very end.
- 0:49SPEAKER_01: Stay tuned for that.
- 0:51SPEAKER_01: So I'm gonna before I'm gonna let Aiden take over the first and only the third test was was held in Brisbane at the Gabba.
- 0:59SPEAKER_01: Aiden take it away.
- 1:00SPEAKER_00: Thank you, Ben.
- 1:01SPEAKER_00: Yeah, so the Gabba always a very interesting place to play, very, very Queensland pitch, typical brassy green pitch they had this year, like we normally see at the Gabba.
- 1:10SPEAKER_00: Australia went in went into bat first in the Early Bowl as one should at the Gabba, but Australia put really put the gas on them early.
- 1:17SPEAKER_00: And it started from, you know, 200s there from Steve Smith 101, Travis Head 152, to really get this game in our control early, Australia's control early, Alex Carey adding another 70 for Australia on that first batting inning.
- 1:31SPEAKER_00: And that at that point, Australia finished their innings with a 445 on the board.
- 1:36SPEAKER_00: And then India came in and they made 260 all out.
- 1:41SPEAKER_00: So they had some moments of fight back, but really not um not much and not enough to really create even footing in this game.
- 1:48SPEAKER_00: So they had India Kay Rahul made an 84 and vigorous Asia made a 77, and then the rest of it was sort of anywhere between 16 or uh 31 from Akash Deep as well, but for the rest of it was between 16 and 1.
- 2:04SPEAKER_00: Bad news though, it wasn't all smooth sailing for Australia as you might it might look.
- 2:07SPEAKER_00: Josh Hazel was only able to get through six overs of work in that first inning.
- 2:12SPEAKER_00: So much of the bowling done there by Stark, Cummins, and Lyon.
- 2:15SPEAKER_00: Travis Head put in two overs and so did Mitch Marsh to put India all out for 260.
- 2:22SPEAKER_00: And now one of the things that happened during this game was a lot of delays, a lot of breaks.
- 2:26SPEAKER_00: So by the time we got to the end of India's first inning, it was already day four.
- 2:31SPEAKER_00: So this game, what India had to do was about enough to get that 260 to avoid the follow-on.
- 2:37SPEAKER_00: If they were able to get anything less than 245, then they would have probably been put back in and had to follow on, so Australia could have got a win there.
- 2:45SPEAKER_00: They didn't.
- 2:45SPEAKER_00: They saved themselves from the follow-on.
- 2:47SPEAKER_00: And Australia come back in now.
- 2:48SPEAKER_00: As I said, it was already the end of day three, start of day four.
- 2:51SPEAKER_00: By the time we get around to the second innings, day one being a complete washout apart from 13 overs and just intermittent rain throughout day two and three.
- 2:59SPEAKER_00: The same as we see on day four and day five.
- 3:01SPEAKER_00: Australia really just went for a speed blitz.
- 3:04SPEAKER_00: You know, they only needed to you know get a little bit more on the board.
- 3:08SPEAKER_00: So they went seven, declared for 89.
- 3:10SPEAKER_00: They weren't really but okay.
- 3:12SPEAKER_00: India, it looks good, the scorecard looks good for India, but Australia were coming out there being hyper-aggressive and just trying to get the runs on the board as quick as they can.
- 3:19SPEAKER_00: It only went for 18 overs, mainly because that's really all they needed, but as I said, because of the rain and were trying to get a result at this point.
- 3:25SPEAKER_00: You know, it it does look good from an Indian point of view, but again, it's just the way the game wasn't the state of way.
- 3:31SPEAKER_00: Getting into the the final innings of the game, India only managed to score eight runs, none for eight, and then the game was washed out and declared as a draw on time.
- 3:39SPEAKER_01: Okay, well that sounds interesting.
- 3:41SPEAKER_01: So after the first two run all so Australia just bounced up on the yellow double.
- 3:46SPEAKER_01: So contradictions, yes, what a five days.
- 3:49SPEAKER_01: It was raining on and off.
- 3:51SPEAKER_01: And you know, as Aiden said, yep, Australia came in and then India, you know, Australia came out absolutely on top, but all out for 445 Australian 12, or out for 260.
- 4:02SPEAKER_01: You know, we have uh best bowlers and batsman's best batter for India is KL Rahak.
- 4:08SPEAKER_01: Say four, as Aiden mentioned, and Jasprat Bum Rash with 676 for India's best bowler.
- 4:14SPEAKER_01: He will find out how much he did that.
- 4:17SPEAKER_01: We come to Travis Hair, dominating in Wisterbat.
- 4:20SPEAKER_01: He's improved, known as maybe in today's young generation of experience with the bat.
- 4:26SPEAKER_01: He's improved every time, and Pat Cummings was 481.
- 4:29SPEAKER_01: Now we came not much to really enjoy with 789, flavor number seven.
- 4:34SPEAKER_01: That was it, day five was all complete bad weather.
- 4:37SPEAKER_01: It happens, it's probably cool.
- 4:39SPEAKER_01: We're gonna see that.
- 4:40SPEAKER_01: So bad luck, but everyone just came on top with that with a share point on results.
- 4:46SPEAKER_01: Okay, we come to the boxing day, and we hope you all enjoyed this test as much as we all enjoy sharing this.
- 4:53SPEAKER_01: Oh, again, I can't believe something like Australia came out, stuck the bat, and boy, it did not go wrong.
- 4:59SPEAKER_01: We must had a very nice relaxing Christmas Day as well.
- 5:03SPEAKER_01: The the recruiter were aidable absolute share, but it's something that Australia really wanted to get back on track since the LA over, and they did not do they did not prove no wrong.
- 5:15SPEAKER_01: They did great, and it was a great start was 89 partmanship.
- 5:19SPEAKER_01: So my best batter with C Smith Domine was 140 if I got that correct, but anyway, unfortunately I do not have my sacks in front of me, but I will share the best bald as what Pat Cummins and Mother performance at the MCG in their first innings and nightish Kumar ready with the best batter for India and Jasprat Bum Rash.
- 5:40SPEAKER_01: It's again once again, Dominate was the ball in here.
- 5:44SPEAKER_01: Once again came and there was a good crowd, a pre-solar crowd the MCG, and between Australia and India, that beat.
- 5:51SPEAKER_01: So we love it.
- 5:52SPEAKER_01: And now we come to the second in with captivation.
- 5:55SPEAKER_01: We have a nice lead to Australia, all out for 234.
- 5:58SPEAKER_01: So not great this time with the back for Australia, but we knew that we did really well overall.
- 6:05SPEAKER_01: We knew him important, and it was Scott Ballman, 3 for 39, and JSF all four runs for Indians, and again, 5 for 57, Jasper Brunya.
- 6:17SPEAKER_01: So it's something that it was pretty even overall, but Australia win it from very, very top.
- 6:23SPEAKER_01: They came out, and when the partnership broke, India had more momentum, but Australia continued, did not stop at the MCG.
- 6:30SPEAKER_01: So that's my thoughts of these four boxing tests.
- 6:34SPEAKER_01: Well that Aiden now she's Aiden, take it away.
- 6:36SPEAKER_00: Yeah, thank you.
- 6:37SPEAKER_00: So as you said, Ben, so Australia came out and put themselves in after winning the toss, and you know, every member of Australia's top four got past 50.
- 6:45SPEAKER_00: Sam Constance made 60 on debut at the MCG on Boxing Day, taking it to Jasper Pomera, playing shots and taking him over his head, over the batsman's head, over the keeper's head to the boundary behind the fine leg and third man for major run.
- 7:00SPEAKER_00: He unluckily got out to a good bowl by Jazer in the NLBW.
- 7:04SPEAKER_00: Kwaja 57 again, he was unlucky.
- 7:06SPEAKER_00: He towed one off the off the bat in his 57.
- 7:09SPEAKER_00: Labershain again, another one who was unlucky with his 72, just holding on to a man, Steve Smith, not unlucky.
- 7:15SPEAKER_00: Steve Smith made 140 before being bowled in very, very strange circumstances by Akash Deep when the bowl came off of Steve Smith and it bounced slowly, slowly, slowly back onto the stumps, and Smith had nowhere to go but back to the pavilion.
- 7:31SPEAKER_00: It was the moment where everyone was holding their breath as the bowl made its way towards the stumps before just taking off one singular bale as Smith looked on in to shop.
- 7:41SPEAKER_00: But he is a man of his word, and that you know that's one of the things about Steve Smith is he's out, he admits he's out, and he left.
- 7:47SPEAKER_00: Then Travis Head only got a dot, which is new for Travis Head.
- 7:50SPEAKER_00: We'll see.
- 7:51SPEAKER_00: Travis Head either makes a score or he gets out for under five.
- 7:54SPEAKER_00: Mitch Marsh, who's been struggling with the injury recently, four.
- 7:57SPEAKER_00: Alice Carey, a handy 31.
- 7:59SPEAKER_00: Captain Pato nearly got his 50, go up 49.
- 8:03SPEAKER_00: Mitch Stark 15, Nathan Lyon 13.
- 8:05SPEAKER_00: The return to the Australian side for Scott Bolan, letting him a six not out.
- 8:10SPEAKER_00: Australia finished their first inning at 474.
- 8:14SPEAKER_00: India Boomer was the one who took four wickets of his 29 overs.
- 8:18SPEAKER_00: We'll move on to India's first inning.
- 8:20SPEAKER_00: So Jace Wall, and Ashley Jay Swell made 82, but there wasn't a lot of people going with him in that, in that upper and middle order after his dubious run out with Vera Cole.
- 8:30SPEAKER_00: Come down to the partnership that really, really kept India with a chance in this game between Nidish Kumar Reddy and Washington Sunder.
- 8:37SPEAKER_00: So Sunda, unfortunately, each one off of Lyndon Smith for 50.
- 8:41SPEAKER_00: Whereas Kumar Reddy made his 114.
- 8:44SPEAKER_00: I was watching his dad was in the front row of the crowd, of the Indian section.
- 8:48SPEAKER_00: Now normally players' families will be up in the pavilion or in the family stand.
- 8:52SPEAKER_00: But this man was in the front row.
- 8:53SPEAKER_00: That man is an absolute legend.
- 8:55SPEAKER_00: We salute you, Mr.
- 8:56SPEAKER_00: Reddy.
- 8:56SPEAKER_00: And there wasn't really much, but going back to the game, there wasn't really much going in the way of India that they did end with 369.
- 9:02SPEAKER_00: So that 100 from Kuma Rader, 50 from Sundala, 80, 82 from Dry Swell kept it relatively close.
- 9:07SPEAKER_00: Our best bowler would have to be Scott Bowland in that first inning.
- 9:12SPEAKER_00: 27 overs of work for 7 maidens, 57 runs, 3 wickets, and an economy of 2.11.
- 9:17SPEAKER_00: Coming to our second inning, and India looked like they were getting back in this game earlier.
- 9:22SPEAKER_00: Started to take some wickets.
- 9:24SPEAKER_00: Constance went for eight.
- 9:25SPEAKER_00: Kouaja for 21.
- 9:26SPEAKER_00: Blad Machine came in and he made another handy 17 to keep Australia on track.
- 9:31SPEAKER_00: Miss really had too much more and made 13.
- 9:33SPEAKER_00: Travis Head, as I said, it's either a big score or not much.
- 9:36SPEAKER_00: He made one.
- 9:37SPEAKER_00: Mitch Marstro for a duck.
- 9:38SPEAKER_00: Carey made two.
- 9:40SPEAKER_00: And then the tails started to wag a little bit.
- 9:42SPEAKER_00: Then a lot.
- 9:43SPEAKER_00: Pat Cummins, another 41 for him.
- 9:46SPEAKER_00: Mitch Stark made five.
- 9:47SPEAKER_00: Nathan Lyon made another 41 for himself.
- 9:50SPEAKER_00: And Scott Boland made a 15 I added in our second innings.
- 9:53SPEAKER_00: As we completed our innings at 234.
- 9:56SPEAKER_00: Having a look through their bowlers, Justin Boomer again.
- 9:58SPEAKER_00: Five wickets for him off 25 over, 7 maiden, 57 runs and an economy of 2.31.
- 10:04SPEAKER_00: But then India, it was their turn to chase down what they required.
- 10:07SPEAKER_00: J Swall made a good 84 before getting out again.
- 10:11SPEAKER_00: So strong start there from Jay Swall.
- 10:13SPEAKER_00: And again, no one could really go with J Swall.
- 10:15SPEAKER_00: Shaman 9, Rakhall at Dark Holy 5, Farn 30, and at that point before Punt got out, when India was three down, the game looked like it was headed to another draw and we were taking the series to the SCG for the New Year's test.
- 10:29SPEAKER_00: But then Richard Punt has an absolute brain fade.
- 10:31SPEAKER_00: Trying to go big and getting out of Travers Head called by Mitch Marsh.
- 10:35SPEAKER_00: And then the gates really open for Australia.
- 10:38SPEAKER_00: That was just an hour of power for Australia.
- 10:40SPEAKER_00: Judasia 2, Kuma ready one, Sunday 500 out, Deep 7, then Ducks for Boomer and Syrah to complete Australia's 108-4 run win with India getting all over 155 in the second inning.
- 10:53SPEAKER_00: Command of the second inning for Australia was Captain Pat Cummins.
- 10:57SPEAKER_00: 18 over 5 made in 28 runs, 3 wickets, and an economy of 1.56.
- 11:02SPEAKER_00: So now we go to Sydney with Australia up 2-1 in the series.
- 11:06SPEAKER_00: India needing a draw will not help them.
- 11:09SPEAKER_00: India needing to win this game in Sydney, where Australia are so dominant when it does not go to a draw.
- 11:16SPEAKER_00: And that is the only way they can retain the series and keep their World Test Championship hopes alive.
- 11:22SPEAKER_01: Okay, so as Ainan mentioned, we finally, yes, we are 2-1 with one draw.
- 11:28SPEAKER_01: So how much does Indian want this win?
- 11:31SPEAKER_01: This is this goes down to who is the best team in the world of cricket.
- 11:37SPEAKER_01: So let's let what I think.
- 11:39SPEAKER_01: We've done them the three and four test series in Brisbane and Melbourne.
- 11:44SPEAKER_01: Now we're gonna head to the fifth test cricket and then the big announcement.
- 11:48SPEAKER_01: Before we get to the fifth reviews of BJ's and Aidens and the big announcement on behalf of BJ and Aiden, we're gonna take a break.
- 11:56SPEAKER_01: When we come back, we'll share all that.
- 11:58SPEAKER_01: So stay tuned, don't go anywhere.
- 12:00SPEAKER_01: See you after the break.
- 12:11SPEAKER_01: Hey, welcome back to the BJ Shows.
- 12:14SPEAKER_01: What's I hope you all enjoyed this series so far of the Brisbane Test and the boxing.
- 12:20SPEAKER_01: Now coming up right now is the fifth test cricket with BJ and Aiden will share.
- 12:26SPEAKER_01: And then we got that big announcement, as I mentioned at the beginning of this episode.
- 12:30SPEAKER_01: And as I mentioned in the early in the week, where I have released the big announcement as well.
- 12:36SPEAKER_01: So if you're not heard it, well stay tuned on this episode right here on the BJ Show.
- 12:41SPEAKER_01: Well, now let's now get ahead to the fifth and test final series between Australia and India.
- 12:47SPEAKER_01: Here we go.
- 12:48SPEAKER_01: So well, this was known as the Pink Tests and great crowds, most crowds ever record in this series.
- 12:57SPEAKER_01: And with Australia and India have a big crowd.
- 12:59SPEAKER_01: This is a very great horse I've known as Glenn McGrath Foundation.
- 13:04SPEAKER_01: This is a very, very special one, and I'm hoping that he well funding great for this great horse.
- 13:10SPEAKER_01: So we do come to the fifth and final test, and I only made it for let's say two and a half days, but it was on the third day.
- 13:16SPEAKER_01: Did he even make even lunch or lunchtime of our time and not in the cricket world of tests?
- 13:23SPEAKER_01: So I'm gonna now share and break down the well, we're just gonna change a little bit.
- 13:28SPEAKER_01: We'll we'll let India will share them first.
- 13:30SPEAKER_01: Risha Pan runs a 40 for the best Indians in the first inning.
- 13:34SPEAKER_01: And Mon Han Serja 3 for 51 and Australian best Scott Bowland Buland Scott Buland with 4 for 31 and the well he we made two so many de boos in this test.
- 13:48SPEAKER_01: It's just amazing.
- 13:49SPEAKER_01: I think why we got so strong.
- 13:50SPEAKER_01: Where's Bev West Star 57 runs in his boo, catching the ball in the air quite hard, quite your lessons on your debut.
- 13:59SPEAKER_01: Where we come into the second innings, well, it all comes very nicely to Australia, and we have handy one run getting good day, and we have murally Krishna Krishna 3 for 61 for Indian's best bowler, and we come to a malight woman.
- 14:17SPEAKER_01: You can't go wrong for summons on the sideline, getting back, getting fit and ready for a six for 45 in the final test.
- 14:24SPEAKER_01: Well done, Scott Blue Land, with your performance and again a bad wrestler with nine, run out winning the game.
- 14:32SPEAKER_01: Now, how can I record how much I want this?
- 14:35SPEAKER_01: I want the get and it's the first time, and I'll give you some stats of who my best series overall will come to Jasper Brunia.
- 14:44SPEAKER_01: Well done on your performance.
- 14:46SPEAKER_01: Yes, well done with the ball, with Barn Scott Bulan, with the series, amazing series, you since you've come into the fourth and fifth test.
- 14:56SPEAKER_01: Well, we come to well done on Australia, defeating India for the Border Gavascar Trophy.
- 15:04SPEAKER_01: Test Series 3-1, including that draw.
- 15:06SPEAKER_01: First time in 10 years since 2014-15.
- 15:10SPEAKER_01: That is just incredible.
- 15:11SPEAKER_01: And the first time come down 1 0.
- 15:14SPEAKER_01: That's it.
- 15:14SPEAKER_01: That's since 1968-69 series I've heard on the on the series.
- 15:20SPEAKER_01: So that's a big achievement.
- 15:22SPEAKER_01: So come from Perth, then the go and win an Adlade, then go to Britain with a draw.
- 15:27SPEAKER_01: We really didn't lose after that.
- 15:29SPEAKER_01: Momentum just came swinging after Christmas Day on Boxing Day, winning a nice victory.
- 15:34SPEAKER_01: It could, as Aiden mentioned, a Boxing Day draw test.
- 15:38SPEAKER_01: Bear with a victory to the Aussies, making it 2-1 to make three wins, one loss, and a draw.
- 15:44SPEAKER_01: So well done on the Australian good effort, India coming to Australia.
- 15:48SPEAKER_01: It's always a good rival.
- 15:50SPEAKER_01: Well, I'll let Aiden to share the fifth final test of the Australian Indian.
- 15:54SPEAKER_01: Aiden, take away.
- 15:56SPEAKER_00: Alright, here we go.
- 15:57SPEAKER_00: Final test of the 2024-25 Border Gavascar Trophy at the SCG.
- 16:04SPEAKER_00: India going in first to bat, and the scores in this one were quite low, so you won't see a lot of big numbers from players in general.
- 16:12SPEAKER_00: So India didn't have a lot of big scores.
- 16:14SPEAKER_00: Part of the only real big score in that first innings making a 40 before getting taken by Scott Boland, who's been a maid.
- 16:20SPEAKER_00: Every time Scott Boland plays, you know it's much watch TV when Scott Boland's bowling, and that helped keep India down to 185.
- 16:28SPEAKER_00: Scott Boland getting four in the first inning.
- 16:31SPEAKER_00: So Scott Boland, 20 overs, eight maidens, 31 runs, four wickets for an economy of 1.55.
- 16:37SPEAKER_00: You know, so and apart from really that big inning I'd say big inning, it was only a 40, but it kept India's head above water from part.
- 16:46SPEAKER_00: No one else really pushed a big score.
- 16:48SPEAKER_00: I mean, there were a few players who got went.
- 16:50SPEAKER_00: So Keju went for a 26, Bormer made 22, John McGill made 20, but really that 40 was the big score of the first innings for India.
- 16:58SPEAKER_00: For Australia in our first inning, Sam Consers went crash bang again for 23 before getting out.
- 17:04SPEAKER_00: And then we have to come all the way down to Bo Webster on debut in Test cricket, making a 57 on his debut at the SCG.
- 17:11SPEAKER_00: So we had the 50 from Sam Consus on debut at the MCG.
- 17:15SPEAKER_00: And now we've got the 50 from Boat Webster on debut with the SCG.
- 17:18SPEAKER_00: What this is this is what cricket is about.
- 17:20SPEAKER_00: These players coming in, making big stands on home soil to win a big tournament like the Border Gamblerscale Trophy.
- 17:26SPEAKER_00: And India has always, well actually their best bowler wasn't just with Bromwray, it was it was British Krishna with 15 overs, three maidens, 42 runs and three wickets into the second innings for India.
- 17:38SPEAKER_00: And again, Pan was the only man to make a real real stand.
- 17:41SPEAKER_00: There's not many other big scores here.
- 17:43SPEAKER_00: 0.2 from Gy Swall, and that's really the only other big score.
- 17:46SPEAKER_00: Everyone else was below 15 or below 20.
- 17:49SPEAKER_00: Bowling-wise, it was all about Scott Boland in the second innings.
- 17:52SPEAKER_00: So he gets his 10 for the magic, it's six in this inning, going obviously 17 overs, 5 maiden, 45 runs, 6 wickets, 2.67 economy.
- 18:00SPEAKER_00: Scott Boland there, and that left Australia with a very, very small chase.
- 18:04SPEAKER_00: And all we had to do was make our way down and take it out.
- 18:07SPEAKER_00: So Sam Constance again starting hot, making 22 before leaving.
- 18:11SPEAKER_00: Leaving probably a little bit earlier than he expected, and probably he wanted.
- 18:14SPEAKER_00: But he did his job.
- 18:15SPEAKER_00: He got he got the new ball through.
- 18:16SPEAKER_00: He got through the new ball, the shine off the new ball, and then did his job as well, scoring runs quickly.
- 18:20SPEAKER_00: Kowaja, Kawaja unluckily made a 41, just edging one off.
- 18:24SPEAKER_00: And that went assigned to crew time.
- 18:26SPEAKER_00: Minus Labershane made made six of his 20 deliveries.
- 18:30SPEAKER_00: Steve Smith, now this is the interesting one.
- 18:32SPEAKER_00: Steve Smith was before this test match started.
- 18:35SPEAKER_00: He made he made a 33 in the first inning.
- 18:38SPEAKER_00: He was chasing 10,000 test runs.
- 18:40SPEAKER_00: In the second inning, Steve Smith required five for 10,000 test runs.
- 18:44SPEAKER_00: Steve Smith made four.
- 18:46SPEAKER_00: He's on 9,999 test runs when he goes to Sri Lanka to play at the end of January and early February.
- 18:54SPEAKER_00: Then it was all about Travis Head and Bo Webster just cruising home for Australia.
- 18:59SPEAKER_00: Pius very, very high strike rates for these two.
- 19:01SPEAKER_00: Travis Head, strike rate of 89.47, which is typical Travis Head stuff, and Bo Webster going at 114.71 and hitting the winning runs off of Washington Sunday down the ground on a drive.
- 19:12SPEAKER_00: So India, I don't really see there being a best bowler, but Predic Krishna, we will give that to.
- 19:18SPEAKER_00: He went 12 overs, no maiden, 6-5 runs, three wickets, and an economy of 5.42.
- 19:24SPEAKER_00: So that's the end of the series.
- 19:25SPEAKER_00: Australia win the series 3-1, and they win the Border Galluscry for the first time in 10 years.
- 19:31SPEAKER_00: This has been a long, long chase for Australia to get this one back from the Indians.
