- 0:08I hope you are well and welcome to The Psychic
- 0:12Explorer live from Mighty Hoopla, which is the
- 0:15big festival which kicks off Pride season here
- 0:18in the UK. I am in a park in South London with
- 0:2130 ,000 other queer people. So if you can hear
- 0:24the music and the crowds in the background, that
- 0:26is because I am absolutely in the middle of it
- 0:30right now. And I wanted to bring you here with
- 0:32me because this episode is going out in June,
- 0:36which is Pride month. and I thought what better
- 0:40place to introduce you to this month's guest.
- 0:43Now I've been making the Psychic Explorer for
- 0:45about 18 months and I've spoken to some incredible
- 0:48people but today's guest is someone I've wanted
- 0:51to talk to for quite some time because his story
- 0:54is not just about mediumship, spirituality or
- 0:57even witchcraft. It's about what it takes to
- 1:00be fully unapologetically yourself when the world
- 1:04and your upbringing has told you that you cannot
- 1:07be you Anthony Lightz grew up in rural Illinois
- 1:11conservative family evangelical church and he
- 1:15was gay he was also psychic and he spent years
- 1:19hiding both of those things and honestly when
- 1:22I was putting this episode together I thought
- 1:24those two experiences are not as different as
- 1:27they sound In this conversation, Anthony talks
- 1:31about growing up with his guests that he could
- 1:33not explain and couldn't tell anyone about. He
- 1:37talks about having his witchy books confiscated
- 1:39at 15 years of age and being told that he was
- 1:42going to hell. He talks about the Mormon church,
- 1:45about coming out and about the moment that his
- 1:48dad, who had said things that would have broken
- 1:50most people, sat down and apologized for it all,
- 1:54totally unprovoked. The conversation is warm,
- 1:58it's funny, it's real and I will say this if
- 2:00you are easily offended by the f -word you might
- 2:03want to brace yourself because Anthony does not
- 2:05hold back and honestly neither do I. Anthony
- 2:09is one of those people who is just pure light
- 2:12which is appropriately is basically his name.
- 2:15So happy pride everyone wherever you are whoever
- 2:18you are this one is definitely for you. Here
- 2:22is my conversation with the one and only Anthony Lightz.
- 2:25And in the meantime, I'm going to go get myself
- 2:28a drink and enjoy a drag show. I will see you
- 2:31on the other side. And hopefully, fingers crossed,
- 2:33I won't be too hungover. Enjoy the interview,
- 2:36guys. The amazing Anthony Lightz, everybody.
- 2:59Anthony, thank you so much for coming onto Psychic
- 3:02Explorer. How are you? I'm amazing. And I appreciate
- 3:05that you called me amazing as well. That was
- 3:08very sweet. Absolutely. You know, when I first
- 3:11started to link down this journey of psychic
- 3:14exploration, I listened to loads of podcasts
- 3:17and Haley Bea's podcast, Opening the Door. If you've
- 3:21not listened to it, listeners, go and listen
- 3:23to her podcast. It's really amazing. And Anthony,
- 3:26I think you were either her second or her first
- 3:28guest on her podcast. And it was so lovely. As
- 3:32soon as I heard you, I was really drawn to you
- 3:34because you were so bubbly. You were so light.
- 3:36And there are so many practitioners in this space
- 3:39who can make it quite dark and make it quite
- 3:42heavy and make it something very, very serious.
- 3:46And you were just so light. Thank you. Oh, my
- 3:49God. I have to tell you that... When I did my
- 3:53very first ever podcast recording with somebody,
- 3:57it was an old podcast for the with these two
- 4:00people in Australia, actually. And they did a
- 4:03recording and I thought to myself, who the fuck
- 4:06is going to want to listen to my shrill? Gay
- 4:09voice I just thought to myself who would want
- 4:13to listen to this voice and actually I get so
- 4:15many people who So many when I say so many like
- 4:18a handful of people who message me and they're
- 4:20like, oh my god I could listen to you talk for
- 4:22hours and I'm like I'm over here like what No.
- 4:25All those years of being called ma 'am over the
- 4:28phone. Oh, no, really? Oh, gosh. And at the drive
- 4:33-thru. I'm like, ugh. Well, Anthony, would you
- 4:37mind just introducing yourself to the lovely
- 4:39listeners in your own words? Who are you? What
- 4:43do you do and what is your practice? Absolutely.
- 4:46Well, hi guys. Hi everybody listening. My name
- 4:49is Anthony Lightz. Um, I spell that L I G H T
- 4:52Z. Um, and truth be told, I spell it that way
- 4:55because my last name, my government name is pronounced
- 4:59lights, but it's German and it's, uh, spelled
- 5:02L E I T Z. But I like, I like Lightz in a way
- 5:05that people can pronounce it correctly. So, um,
- 5:08Anthony Lightz, I am a psychic medium. I live
- 5:10in St. Petersburg, Florida. I help run a really
- 5:14cool metaphysical shop here called Spellcrafter,
- 5:18where I also run my business, where I read for
- 5:20people and I teach psychic development and other
- 5:24aspects of spirituality, like witchcraft and
- 5:27divination and all those fun things. And yeah,
- 5:30I'm living a dream. I actually tell people my
- 5:33husband is an dental hygienist. And when they ask us
- 5:35what we do, I'm like, yeah, he's got the adult
- 5:37job. I think it's a good dynamic. What do they
- 5:43say? Opposites attract, right? Opposites attract.
- 5:46Absolutely. Okay, we are recording this for June
- 5:49and June is traditionally Pride season. What
- 5:51do you guys have planned for Pride this year?
- 5:54What does Pride 2026 look like for you? Oh my
- 5:58gosh, I'm going, I am going full slut mode for
- 6:02Pride this year. And I find that, so I'm from
- 6:07like a cornfield in Illinois and so, Pride is,
- 6:11I understand Pride to a different level I think
- 6:15than maybe for somebody who's from like a city
- 6:18or somewhere a little bit more progressive, you
- 6:20know, so I really do love to go all out for Pride.
- 6:23We usually plan something for like every weekend
- 6:26because St. Petersburg actually has the biggest
- 6:28Pride in Florida. Does it really? I thought it
- 6:31would be Miami or Orlando or somewhere like that.
- 6:34You would think that, but it might be different
- 6:37this year because of the political climate. But
- 6:40as long as I've lived here, it's been the biggest
- 6:43pride fest in all of Florida. St. Pete is actually
- 6:47kind of like a big bubble in the state of Florida.
- 6:49So if you are listeners out there, if you're
- 6:52not familiar with or if you are familiar, I should
- 6:55say, with the state of Florida, you hear a lot
- 6:58of Florida man stories and all this type of stuff.
- 7:00And it's a real Real interesting type of place,
- 7:03but St. Petersburg is a little bit of a bubble
- 7:06where we are. We're very gay. We're very artsy.
- 7:09We're very progressive here in St. Pete. You
- 7:11know, I mean, we definitely have our, you know,
- 7:13there's always going to be a little bit of something
- 7:14to deal with, but we're very lucky. So pride
- 7:17pride month for us is a huge month of all this
- 7:20expression. And, you know, my husband and I really
- 7:23love to like, we get, we love to get fun outfits.
- 7:25We like to, you know, we are always going to
- 7:27different events. Um, I, I, I hope. this year
- 7:32that we're not doing anything too too snazzy.
- 7:36I want to be more like the bars and parties get
- 7:40a bit dirty. Yeah, I want to get dirty. Last
- 7:43year we went to a gala though where or a gala.
- 7:46I like to say gala because it's pride to meet
- 7:51and hear a speaker who was at Stonewall. Oh,
- 7:57wow. I really, really appreciated that. Of course,
- 8:02I hate to dress up. I do not like to be in a
- 8:05suit. I don't want to wear a blazer. But we did
- 8:07that night. And honestly, as much as I was so
- 8:11uncomfortable, I was so grateful to experience
- 8:15something so amazing, especially in a time like
- 8:17this that we're experiencing over here in the
- 8:18States. It's really cool to see the people who
- 8:21fought back then to get to where we are now.
- 8:24And then it kind of gets that little fire under
- 8:26your ass to keep fighting. So it was really cool.
- 8:28Amazing, it sounds it. Talking of people that
- 8:32came before us, would you mind taking us back
- 8:35to your past, back to the little Anthony Lightz
- 8:39who is stuck in his cornfield, this little gay
- 8:42kid. What did life look like for you? What was
- 8:48little Anthony Lightz' world? So I had a pretty
- 8:55tumultuous upbringing. My mother suffers from
- 9:01addiction and my dad, he just wasn't, I mean,
- 9:05I hate to say this. First of all, let me just
- 9:07preface this with my father and I have a great
- 9:10relationship. He is a wonderful person. When
- 9:12I was younger, We just weren't there yet, you
- 9:16know, and you know, I it's so it's the dichotomy
- 9:20was weird because he comes he it's his family
- 9:23who was very conservative is what I'm trying
- 9:27to say and we were a part of this church that
- 9:30was an evangelical Lutheran church at the time,
- 9:33but my dad didn't really go to church, but he
- 9:36kind of just upheld a lot of the beliefs, mostly
- 9:39fear -based stuff. And so, although I really
- 9:44feel like I just existed the way that I was,
- 9:49I do feel that I was so scared to sort of...
- 9:54I was so scared to succumb to a lot of the thoughts
- 9:58and the things that I was feeling like I was
- 10:00definitely you know trying to pray the gay away
- 10:02whenever I had sort of weird feelings but I was
- 10:04also I will say this I'm the queen of denial
- 10:06and so it's also easy for me to hide from that
- 10:09stuff hide from myself essentially but like on
- 10:12the flip side I was still doing musical theater
- 10:14and I was still singing and I was I was I was
- 10:17a gymnast at one point, so I was tumbling and
- 10:19doing all these things that, you know, stereotypically
- 10:22in the country, you would look at and be like,
- 10:24well, that kid's kind of fruity, you know? And
- 10:27I had my fair share of being called names and
- 10:30stuff like that. And so it really, I feel that
- 10:35I tried to put on this little, I don't give a
- 10:38fuck what anybody thinks, but it definitely ingrained
- 10:41a lot of... horrible beliefs into my subconscious.
- 10:45And I will say that, you know, a day in the life
- 10:49of Anthony Lightz when he was in high school
- 10:51was, you know, get up, get dressed, try to make
- 10:56yourself look as presentable as possible, do
- 10:58your hair, all this type of stuff, and then go
- 11:00to school and just hope to God that nobody said
- 11:02anything about me being gay, you know, and I
- 11:05remember at one point in time in my it's so funny
- 11:08in my graduating class, I think we had probably
- 11:1110 people come out of the closet after they all
- 11:13graduated. Which is kind of weird because my
- 11:16graduating class was like 60 people. You had
- 11:20a big gay class too. Well, not when I was there.
- 11:23I was the only kid who was out at school and
- 11:26the year that I left to go to college and everyone
- 11:29else stayed to go to sixth form. I heard that
- 11:33at least 10 people in my year group has come
- 11:35out and I was so annoyed, I was so frustrated
- 11:37because I thought, why did I have to go through
- 11:39all that shit on my own when there were other
- 11:42people in my year group who were gay too? Well,
- 11:45you probably kind of paved it in a sense, you
- 11:49know? I mean, and I'm being very honest about
- 11:51that. There was one, there was two kids in my
- 11:56high school who were gay, who were like out.
- 11:58But not out in school like you never would have
- 12:00seen them walking down the hall holding hands
- 12:02with another Another guy or you know anything
- 12:05like that and but there was the one kid. This
- 12:08is back in MySpace days I'm old Are you yeah,
- 12:15how old are you I am 42 this year Oh 42 I thought
- 12:18you were younger than me. I'm not gonna lie You're
- 12:21doing great, sweetie. Thank you. It's this room.
- 12:25It's a very peachy room, not a minute. Irons
- 12:27and wrinkles out from my face. That's amazing.
- 12:30OK, so then you remember MySpace, right? I do,
- 12:33yes. He had posted a picture on, or I don't think
- 12:37he had posted it. Somebody else had posted a
- 12:39picture of him kissing his boyfriend, but like
- 12:42in Chicago, you know, because I grew up, the
- 12:44town that I grew up in was like maybe two hours
- 12:46south of Chicago in Illinois. someone in my high
- 12:50school printed that picture out and like tossed
- 12:54it in the library, tossed it onto the table in
- 12:57front of him while he was sitting at the table
- 12:59with like 20 other students. And I just remember
- 13:03looking at that and thinking to myself, oh my
- 13:06God, I don't know what I would do. I would want
- 13:08to die. I would literally not. And I'm not trying
- 13:11to be dramatic. I would literally want to die
- 13:13if if that were me. And so. You know, it was
- 13:17just a big scary time for me of like, I need
- 13:21to put this away. And the thing is, it's all
- 13:23a subconscious thought process. Like I don't
- 13:25think I ever like consciously thought to myself,
- 13:28you can't be gay here. I just think it was like
- 13:30a... automatic turn it off. Yeah, like self -preservation.
- 13:35Yeah, self -preservation. Exactly. As far as
- 13:38like the witchy side goes, before high school,
- 13:42I started my whole witchy journey when I was
- 13:45really young. My mom would buy me... books, and
- 13:48she would say, I don't care if it's just a hobby.
- 13:51If it's just a hobby, you want to learn about
- 13:52this stuff. I don't care. She bought me books
- 13:54by Earth, Air, Fire, Water. I'm looking at it
- 13:58right now by Scott Cunningham from Barnes and
- 14:01Noble when I was really young. I had crystals
- 14:04and candles and everything. When my mom had to
- 14:08go into rehab and all this type of stuff, my
- 14:10dad's family came in and they took... all of
- 14:14my stuff. And now we're talking grade school
- 14:15at this point in time, or junior high I should
- 14:17say. Just for listeners outside the US, what
- 14:20age group is that? What age is that? I was like
- 14:2314, 15. I was 15. I remember this. And I remember
- 14:29getting the most intense lecture in the basement
- 14:35of my friend's house about how I would be going
- 14:38to hell and how this stuff, this is how the devil
- 14:41works. It sucks you in and it makes you feel good,
- 14:44it makes you feel powerful, and all this type
- 14:46of stuff. And so I put it all away. And I was
- 14:51really scared. My imagination still survived.
- 14:53I was watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer and all
- 14:56these cool movies and stuff like that. But I
- 14:58got scared. I quit reading. I quit doing all
- 15:02that kind of stuff. And then I focused more on
- 15:04trying to become a popular, what everybody thought
- 15:06I should be. going to church and like, you know,
- 15:11trying to date women, but it didn't really work.
- 15:14And then I eventually, when I was 18 years old,
- 15:17I met this guy and he was Mormon. And he had,
- 15:21you know, I wouldn't say convinced me, he had
- 15:24invited me and I was a little apprehensive, but
- 15:27I was like, you know, whatever, I like you, you're
- 15:28nice, you're a good person. So I went to church
- 15:31with him and I realized, oh my God, this is like
- 15:33everything that I grew up in, except for these
- 15:35people are way nicer. And so he left on a mission
- 15:39and while he was on his mission, I met someone
- 15:41who I'm now really good friends with. She was
- 15:43a sister missionary and she convinced me. She
- 15:46also like taught me and everything like that.
- 15:49And I hate to say convinced because I don't want
- 15:51to put her in a bad light. It did not take a
- 15:54lot of convincing, but I eventually got baptized
- 15:57into the Mormon church and spent about three
- 16:01to four years of my life. Like very diligently
- 16:04going to church until I then had my first like
- 16:06actual homosexual experience The beautiful thing
- 16:14though that I Remember the most and this is like
- 16:17part of a big reason why I like to do what we
- 16:19do here is When I really stepped into that authentic
- 16:24version of myself It was crazy. My dad, who had
- 16:27said horrible things about gay people when I
- 16:29was a kid, horrible things about how he couldn't
- 16:32live if he had a gay child, my dad just kind
- 16:37of woke up. I don't know what happened, but our
- 16:40relationship blossomed when I came out of the
- 16:43closet. He eventually apologized, unprovoked,
- 16:47apologized for everything. that I had to go through
- 16:51as a child, not just from the horrible things
- 16:54that he would say, but everything, like the things
- 16:57with my mom and all this type of stuff. It was
- 17:01really, really crazy. And I kind of owe that
- 17:04to just being brave enough to step into my own
- 17:07shoes and be like, I don't care. You know, so
- 17:10yeah, that was a really cool experience. As you're
- 17:13saying this, the quote is coming to my mind.
- 17:15I don't know if it's a biblical quote or not,
- 17:17but the truth will set you free. Yeah. Literally,
- 17:20like, not just for you, but for your dad as well.
- 17:23The moment you step into your authentic self,
- 17:25the sooner that relationship can bloom. I said
- 17:29to you before that I've been researching you,
- 17:31and not to sound too stalkery, but I've been
- 17:33listening to so many different podcasts that
- 17:35you've appeared on. So I know this story, but
- 17:38would you mind sharing with the listeners, how
- 17:40did your psychic journey begin? Where did that
- 17:43come from? I don't think it's stalkery at all.
- 17:46I actually am so... I find it so validating that
- 17:51you looked into me and then you're like, no,
- 17:53I still want to talk to him. No, absolutely.
- 17:57I mean, my God, I love listening to your episodes.
- 18:01I know I touched on earlier on with Haley Bea's
- 18:05podcast, Opening the Door, but you do another one
- 18:06with her, a monthly one. called the Psychic Path
- 18:10podcast. And I love listening to it. I'll be
- 18:12honest, I haven't got a clue about half the stuff
- 18:15you're talking about because I'm not there yet
- 18:17in my development. But you touch on things like
- 18:19numerology. In your last episode, I think it
- 18:23was about the retrograde. And it's interesting
- 18:25because I did have an episode idea called What
- 18:29the Hell is Retrograde Anyway? And I listened
- 18:31to your episode and I thought, oh great, I can't
- 18:33do that one anymore. You still should because
- 18:37you're going to have such a different take on
- 18:38it. And then also it's so fun to share. I think
- 18:41it's so fun to share personal experiences and
- 18:43how the retrograde affects you because you're
- 18:45going to it's going to resonate with different
- 18:48people. That's why I love sharing my stories
- 18:51because I just hope even if it resonates with
- 18:53one person and helps them be like, no, I can
- 18:55do this too. I feel like my life is worth it.
- 18:58It's worth it now. You know, I think you should
- 19:01do it. But but yeah. Oh, where did this start?
- 19:05Sorry, yeah, I went off on a bit of a tangent
- 19:07then. How did this begin for you? How did your
- 19:12psychic and mediumship journey begin? Yeah, so
- 19:16I had my very, very first, like, memorable visit
- 19:23experience. from the world of spirit, is what
- 19:27I call it now, when I was, I want to say it was
- 19:3112, 12 or 13, because my mom's mom, my grandmother
- 19:35Hope passed away. And it was not a, she wasn't
- 19:40sick. She was going in for an operation and things
- 19:45went sour. They tried to save her. They worked
- 19:47on her for nine hours. And by the time they were
- 19:51living, they also lived. like nine hours away.
- 19:54So we were driving down there by the time we'd
- 19:56gotten to their house. She had already passed.
- 20:01And so this was my first big, aside from losing
- 20:03like animals, this was my first big death. You
- 20:06know, this is a period of time where I didn't...
- 20:14I didn't quite understand what was going on.
- 20:18This was a little bit before I started reading.
- 20:23My mom had gotten me my first book on witchcraft
- 20:25and all that kind of stuff. Every night that
- 20:28I would go to bed, I would pray to God. I would
- 20:30say, please tell grandma I hope I said hello
- 20:33and I love her and all that kind of stuff. I
- 20:38remember one night about, I would say almost
- 20:40a year later, I remember I was praying and I
- 20:46just, there was just like something changed.
- 20:49I looked up and I just looked at, there was,
- 20:52at the foot of my bed was like this energetic
- 20:56signature. I don't know how to explain it. Think
- 20:58of it, if I can paint a picture, it looked like
- 21:01a fuzzy white fog light type of thing, like hybrid.
- 21:05If you ever look, actually, if you ever look
- 21:08at a candle, and you look above the candle and
- 21:12you see the ripple of heat. That's kind of what
- 21:14it's like, but a little bit funnier in the shape
- 21:17of a person. And for me, I don't know if I explained
- 21:21it this way exactly, but it almost came in from
- 21:23the ceiling and came and stood at the end of
- 21:25the bed. And so the thing is, is I just remember
- 21:28looking at this and knowing that's my grandmother.
- 21:34Like that is my grandmother. Grandma Hope is
- 21:36standing at the end of my bed right now. And
- 21:39I don't know how I knew it was her because you
- 21:41it was just like a blob that was in the shape
- 21:43of a person to me. And I think that I think it
- 21:47was just like a sort of, you know, if your mom
- 21:49walks into the room and you don't see her, but
- 21:52she touches your shoulder, you almost know that's
- 21:54mom. Right. And or you just get that sort of
- 21:57clairsentience. That's what I do is like that
- 21:59sense that, oh, I know who you are. And I knew
- 22:01it was her. Was there fear? when you saw that?
- 22:04Not at all. None. That's the other thing. I wasn't
- 22:07afraid when that happened. I don't know the timeline
- 22:11because exactly. But like, I just started seeing
- 22:16shit randomly. I would start seeing like, physically
- 22:19speaking, I would see this sort of like fuzzy,
- 22:24same sort of situation, but like walk across
- 22:26the street. Or there in Illinois, there are very
- 22:30random scattered throughout the countryside.
- 22:32There's like very random cemeteries and stuff.
- 22:34And like in some of the small towns, they would
- 22:36have like these big, big ass cemeteries where
- 22:40you could drive through it. And I remember my
- 22:42aunt, which would be grandma Hope's daughter,
- 22:45my mom's sister took us on a drive through a
- 22:48cemetery. And I remember just like, being so
- 22:52floored, like, oh my God, I think that's a person
- 22:56walking right there, but not saying shit. Of
- 23:00course, because I'm like, who do you say this
- 23:02to? At one point in time, I had said something
- 23:05to my mom along the lines of like, hey, this
- 23:09weird stuff is happening. My mom told me, and
- 23:12I think this is why she was so okay with me getting
- 23:14those books. She said, I used to have dreams
- 23:17of who was going to die in our family. I would
- 23:20have a dream about a member of family who were
- 23:22dying, and then they would pass away later. And
- 23:24I guess my grandma Hope had told her, do not
- 23:27tell anybody that. You can tell me this, but
- 23:29you can't tell anybody else that. And when my
- 23:32mom said that to me, I thought, done. I noted,
- 23:36I'm not going to say a thing. And then, yeah,
- 23:39I kind of progressed until... Then middle school
- 23:44came and I made some friends who I'm still friends
- 23:47with to this day. We loved the movie The Craft.
- 23:52I'm sure you know exactly what I'm talking about.
- 23:54We had our own little witch coven. That's when
- 23:56I was getting into the books and stuff. I had
- 23:59mentioned to my one friend about the things that
- 24:03I would see and she was super supportive. She
- 24:05was also very scared. I wasn't as scared at that
- 24:08point in time. But yeah, that's like where it
- 24:10happened. And then I kind of went away for the
- 24:12longest time whenever I had that conversation
- 24:16about going to hell. And I was like, OK, well,
- 24:19I guess I need to go back to church then. And
- 24:22then puberty comes in and then you want to be
- 24:24popular and you're dealing with all these emotional
- 24:26things. My mom was going through all this stuff.
- 24:28I had to move in with my father, which was horrible
- 24:31at the time. But yeah, I kind of had to do all
- 24:36this stuff. I had to grow up or be a young, what
- 24:39do you want to say, a teenager. And so it wasn't
- 24:43until I graduated high school that I started
- 24:46seeing the shit again. It started coming back.
- 24:49And so yeah, that answers your question plus
- 24:52more, I'm sure. It absolutely does. Thank you,
- 24:55Anthony. But there's a question that I've been
- 24:57dying to ask you. When you say you're seeing
- 24:59these things, Are you seeing these things physically,
- 25:03like I'm looking at my laptop right now and I'm
- 25:05seeing it, or is it more in your mind's eye?
- 25:08So when I saw my grandmother and when I talked
- 25:12about seeing this whole time, that was all physical.
- 25:16And it wasn't, but it wasn't like you looking
- 25:17at your laptop right now. I don't know how to
- 25:19explain it. It's kind of like something shifts.
- 25:25As a psychic medium, you know how they talk about
- 25:27going into the power? You go into power and that
- 25:32opens you up. It's almost as if somehow something
- 25:36shifts and everything looks foggy. You can see
- 25:40the air and then I would see a person walk by
- 25:44or I would see this energetic signature of someone
- 25:47just standing there. When I say this, it's not
- 25:51like I'm looking at you and me. I would see it
- 25:54and maybe I would see it for like... three or
- 25:56four seconds, and then I wouldn't see it anymore.
- 25:59It's very similar to how sometimes people say
- 26:01they would see something out of the corner of
- 26:02their eye. Yeah, I was going to say that. Yeah,
- 26:04and it's gone. Sometimes it's like I see it out
- 26:06of the corner of my eye and I look and it's still
- 26:08standing there and then it's gone. To this day,
- 26:12that happens, but way more rare. I would say
- 26:15it doesn't happen as often. I don't know why.
- 26:19I don't know that I care. I will say if it's
- 26:24in that sort of liminal space of the day, morning,
- 26:28like dawn and dusk, I often for some reason just
- 26:31see a lot more then. But I can't put features
- 26:34to anything. I can't say, oh, that's a man, that's
- 26:37a woman, unless I turn on those other senses,
- 26:40those other clairs where I'm like, oh. I can
- 26:42feel that this is a woman. I can feel that this
- 26:44is a man or anything in between, I guess I should
- 26:47say. But yeah, I was seeing a lot of physical
- 26:50stuff. Now I see more clairvoyantly, like in
- 26:54my mind's eye, I'll see things more. Yeah, that
- 26:58was a little bit different back then. I've heard
- 27:01you talk about coming out of the broom cupboard
- 27:03before, and I love that phrase. That is a phrase
- 27:05I'm going to borrow from you, by the way. And
- 27:08I wonder how the different experiences, or if
- 27:11they were different experiences for you. For
- 27:12me, being gay was always something I knew, it
- 27:15was always something I wore proudly. It's been
- 27:18so easy, it has been really easy for me. But
- 27:21coming out of the broom cupboard is something
- 27:24I find very difficult. I still don't like using
- 27:27the word spirituality, it still gives me the
- 27:29ick. How did you experience those? Were they
- 27:33coming out as gay and coming out of the broom
- 27:35cupboard similar or were they very different
- 27:36experiences for you? The similarity that I could
- 27:40say, because I think there's both, the similarity
- 27:42was that I didn't, I feel that I don't need to,
- 27:46I didn't need to be worried about either of them.
- 27:49I maybe should have been a little bit more in
- 27:51high school. the worry I think was a little bit
- 27:54more of like physical harm, you know, I didn't
- 27:56want my ass beat, or maybe I did, I don't know.
- 27:59No, I'm just kidding. You said you wanted to
- 28:03be slutty for pride. No, I feel that both of
- 28:12the similarity would be that I'm always surprised
- 28:15at how people react. The gay, being gay, I think
- 28:19that's kind of like, I don't, there's no, I'm
- 28:21there's no reaction anymore at this point in
- 28:23time. There is still apprehension. There's still
- 28:28that sort of apprehension about telling people
- 28:29what I do for a living. And I still am also very
- 28:33surprised at how people act when I tell them.
- 28:35But the apprehension now, there's two aspects
- 28:38of it. There's the aspect of when you tell somebody
- 28:40that you're a psychic medium and that's what
- 28:42you do, they automatically turn you into a circus
- 28:46clown. Show me. There's expectation. A party
- 28:50trick. Yeah, exactly. And then there's the other
- 28:54aspect of them being scared of them being like,
- 28:58Oh, this kid needs to grow up. This kid needs
- 29:00to get a real job, you know, and that's where
- 29:03I get I get really nervous. So about I'm going
- 29:05to rant here for a second about two, three years
- 29:10ago, two years ago, my husband and I have always
- 29:13been like very kind of low key. You know, we'd
- 29:15go out every once in a while with some very close
- 29:17friends, our circles very tight. Jared said that
- 29:19he wants to make them more gay friends. I want
- 29:21to make more gay friends. He says, so we joined
- 29:23a, um, like an LGBTQIA, like, uh, sports league
- 29:28and we played dodgeball. I'll talk about going
- 29:30back to high school dodgeball. Um, and then we
- 29:33started making a shit ton of friends. And I just
- 29:36remember. thinking to myself, these people are
- 29:41lawyers and doctors and have all these big boy
- 29:44jobs and all that kind of stuff. And then when
- 29:47they get to me, after talking to my husband,
- 29:49finding out that he's a dental hygienist, then
- 29:51they get to me and I'm like, well, I don't want
- 29:55to tell them that I'm a psychic medium and that's
- 29:57what I do for a living. So I guess the only thing
- 30:00I can tell them is that, oh, I manage a metaphysical
- 30:02store. Which also kind of sounds like, okay,
- 30:04kid, you need to grow up. That's my perception,
- 30:07you know? Yeah, from your perception. I understand,
- 30:09but I don't think that's true. Yeah, and I've
- 30:12come to find out that it's not, because I feel
- 30:15that that's my own, that's that sort of self
- 30:19-doubt, that inner belief that was kind of at
- 30:21pay... given to me as growing up, you know, my
- 30:24family was always very, you need to go to school,
- 30:26you need to either become a farmer, just like
- 30:28the rest of the family or something that is going
- 30:31to have a salary and like a pension and all this
- 30:34type of shit. And I'm like over here and be like,
- 30:35yeah, I flip cards for a living or, you know,
- 30:37I talk to dead people, you know, but like, here's
- 30:40the thing, it is crazy to me. And I don't, I
- 30:44say this with a lot of humility, but stepping
- 30:50onto this path has, brought me so much monetary
- 30:54abundance in a way that I never thought I could.
- 30:57And I only think that that is because I fully
- 31:00stepped into something that I was supposed to,
- 31:02you know? And so my husband, it's so funny, we'll
- 31:04be talking about it. And Jared will be like,
- 31:08yeah, he makes more than I do. And I'm just like,
- 31:11girl, don't be putting that out there. Come on
- 31:13now. Also, if you're worried about other people's
- 31:18perception, it validates it for them. Because
- 31:20it's like, well, if it's working, you're OK.
- 31:22If it's working. Yeah, and it is surprising to
- 31:25me to hear how many people are like, oh my god,
- 31:27I would love to come see you. I would love to
- 31:30come, you know, learn from you and all this type
- 31:32of stuff. I'm like, wow, I just don't expect
- 31:34that from people. I still expect that sort of
- 31:36like that weird little bless your soul type of
- 31:40energy that I don't know if you know what I mean
- 31:42when I say that. Absolutely, yes. It's very fake,
- 31:46self -righteous. Yeah, because I came to this
- 31:49from a very different point of view or from a
- 31:51very different place. I came to this from grief.
- 31:55And when I tell people this is what I do, or
- 31:58I'm looking into this, my worry, my perception
- 32:02is that they're going to think, oh, OK, he's
- 32:04not over his grief, or he wants to get the person
- 32:07he lost back. And you can't accept that that's
- 32:11not the case. So that's how I worry about it.
- 32:15Yeah. Oh, I can totally see that. In my head
- 32:18and that sort of aspect of it, when I was a kid,
- 32:24I never told anybody about the things that I
- 32:27would see, A, because church, and B, because
- 32:30I never wanted anybody to think that I was scary.
- 32:33I was like a freak, you know, or I was going
- 32:35crazy. A very, very small amount of people knew
- 32:39about any of like the actual psychic or mediumistic
- 32:42mediumship things that were happening to me as
- 32:45a kid because I just wouldn't tell anybody. I
- 32:47actually was so scared to go see psychics because
- 32:50I didn't want them to say something. Does that
- 32:53make sense? Yeah, yeah, of course. Like, you
- 32:55don't want them to ouch you. Exactly. I love
- 33:04listening to other people's origin stories and
- 33:06Anthony's is no different. Anthony, thank you
- 33:09so much for your time. Thank you so much for
- 33:11your vulnerability for sharing your story. Is
- 33:15Anthony's story ringing true to you? Is his journey
- 33:18chiming with yours? I'd love to know. You can
- 33:21find me at the .psychic .explorer. You can see
- 33:24me out on Facebook, threads, Instagram, TikTok,
- 33:27all of them. Come and say hello. I don't bite.
- 33:30And if you know someone who you think would love
- 33:33this episode, feel free to share it. I'd love
- 33:36it if you could rate it, follow and share. Share
- 33:39the love, share the journey, share the stories.
- 34:05So it sounds to me as if your sexuality and spirituality
- 34:09sort of went hand in hand. You understood you
- 34:12were gay, but you didn't want to maybe acknowledge
- 34:14it. You knew you had this spooky side to you
- 34:18as well, but that was sort of put down by other
- 34:21people. You've had this life of religion and
- 34:25scripture and this curiosity of the occult and
- 34:28ritual. Have you had to unlearn anything and
- 34:31unpick anything to allow the true Anthony to
- 34:34step forward? Absolutely. I feel like I'm still
- 34:38deconstructing certain things, more so with my
- 34:41sexuality than my spirituality. I had to throw
- 34:45away the idea that I wasn't supposed to connect
- 34:48myself, that I was supposed to be receiving everything
- 34:52from God or a pastor. The idea I remember in
- 34:582015, that's when I... I would say throughout
- 35:05my life, my timeline, there were periods of time
- 35:08where my spirituality would spike and then go
- 35:10down and leave. And 2015, 2016 was when I dove
- 35:14in and I haven't left since then. Does that make
- 35:17sense? And I remember in that time period, that
- 35:21was when I had my first experience with like
- 35:25spirit guide energy and I was... terrified because
- 35:29I just didn't know where it was coming from.
- 35:32I didn't want to connect to anything like that
- 35:35because I was like, well, what if it's evil?
- 35:36What if it's something that was going to try
- 35:38to get me to do horrible things, demonic? all
- 35:43those sort of buzzwords that, you know, structured
- 35:46religion will try to kind of embed in you to
- 35:49scare you away from, really to scare you away
- 35:52from thinking for yourself. That was my religious
- 35:55trauma talking. So I just want to let people
- 35:56know if you are still within a structured sort
- 35:59of religion. I know there are a lot of people
- 36:00who call themselves Christian mystics. I love
- 36:03that for you. And I do not, do not like put what
- 36:07I'm saying in my opinions on you at all. But
- 36:10From where I come from, in my experience, you're
- 36:13taught not to use tarot cards, not to try any
- 36:18sort of divination or to connect to spirit guides
- 36:21and stuff because those were all demonic. And
- 36:25when you really uncover it all, it's a matter
- 36:27of don't think for yourself. Think the way we
- 36:30want you to. And it is unfortunate. Now, I don't
- 36:33think that every church is like that. I think
- 36:35there are some churches who are a little bit
- 36:37more free thinking, and that's great. Still not
- 36:39for me. But my little disclaimer, and I just
- 36:44don't want to hurt anybody's feelings, you know?
- 36:46No, we have to be respectful, but at the same
- 36:48time, it goes both ways. Yeah, I agree. Absolutely.
- 36:53But yeah, the deconstruction of that sort of
- 36:55belief of like, wow, I'm not supposed to do this.
- 36:57I remember when my aunt, the same aunt who would
- 36:59drive us through the fucking corn or the cornfields,
- 37:01the cemeteries, she sent me my first deck of
- 37:04tarot cards. And I was terrified. I was like,
- 37:08Oh my God, do I do this? Do I do this? You know,
- 37:11really, I had that much of I was going to use
- 37:14the word power. But yeah, I mean, power had that
- 37:17much power over you, did it? Yeah. Oh, yeah.
- 37:19Oh, I was terrified. And the funny part was when
- 37:22I was really young, I remember her pulling out
- 37:25tarot cards and reading for me, like young, young.
- 37:28And this is also, this is not my dad, the conservative
- 37:31side. This is my mom's side, right? My mom's
- 37:33sister. And thinking, oh, these are great. I
- 37:37love these. And had she not done that when I
- 37:40was a kid, I don't think I would have brought
- 37:41it up to her. And then that's what made her send
- 37:44them to me. She goes, oh, you want these? Let
- 37:46me send some to you. you know, there's the devil
- 37:49card and the death card and all these things.
- 37:52And I still was in this place of like, I want
- 37:55to learn about psychic development. I was going
- 37:58through a book at the time called The Intuitive
- 38:00Way by Penney Peirce, I think. I'm looking on
- 38:04my shelf to see if I can see it. Penney Peirce,
- 38:07yeah. And I was working through that and I would,
- 38:10you know, I treated it like Hogwarts, right?
- 38:12Like going to school for witchcraft and wizardry,
- 38:14but more so just divination and psychic ability.
- 38:17And that's when my aunt sent me those cards.
- 38:19And I just remember thinking, do I want to try
- 38:21this? I did it for a few weeks, maybe even a
- 38:26couple of months, and then I put it away because
- 38:28I was like, I went through that. I feel like
- 38:30a lot of people just where their readings get
- 38:32a little bit scary and or they're interpreting
- 38:34things a little bit more in a scary way. And
- 38:36then eventually I got them back out and I started
- 38:39using them again. And I really haven't put them
- 38:41down since. No. And I know that I've heard you
- 38:46say that shuffling helps you channel. We all
- 38:49have our different things, you know. Tyler Henry
- 38:52has his scribbles and you have your shuffling.
- 38:55And what I love, what I find really beautiful
- 38:57is that the thing that helps you is the thing
- 39:02that was first gifted to you as you started your
- 39:05journey on this path. Oh, I didn't even think
- 39:07of it that way. Matt, that's so sweet. You're
- 39:12welcome. You can have that one. Thank you. Yeah,
- 39:15and you know what's funny is when I'm doing mediumship,
- 39:18the shuffling. I shuffle Lenormand cards. And
- 39:22because of what you said, what I've heard you
- 39:24say about Lenormand cards, I really want to get
- 39:26myself a deck of these cards just to see what
- 39:29I can get from them. Love Lenormand. I don't
- 39:32know that I read them. I do read them the way
- 39:34Lenormand is meant to be read, I guess, but not
- 39:37always do I do that. My experiences with Lenormand
- 39:40are, I would say, akin to using a Ouija board
- 39:43sometimes. in the sense of they sort of confirm,
- 39:48you know, I'm talking to somebody saying, oh,
- 39:50your grandmother is with us or your mom's with
- 39:53us and blah, blah, blah. And I get these little
- 39:55confirmations that kind of say, yep, this is
- 39:59mom. She's talking about what happened. My favorite
- 40:02experience with shuffling the Lenormand was someone's
- 40:05mother coming through and she just kept showing
- 40:07me this ring over and over again. I told the
- 40:11woman, I said, your mom's showing me this ring.
- 40:14She's so insistent on me talking about this ring.
- 40:18And the woman takes this ring off. She goes,
- 40:20this is my mom's ring, and it's broken. I need
- 40:22to get it fixed. I've been wanting to get it
- 40:24fixed, and I just haven't done it. And right
- 40:28when she finishes that statement, the ring card
- 40:31flies out of the Lenormand deck and lands on the
- 40:34table. Oh, wow. Yeah, that's what I'm saying.
- 40:36That's why I love it. I love it so much. Isn't
- 40:39it amazing how that sort of thing always happens?
- 40:42I always pull a deck, sorry, I always put a card
- 40:45on the full moon. I've got this deck of cards
- 40:49called Bee Tarot. Now, in my day job, I'm a gardener,
- 40:51so these Bee Tarot cards really resonate with
- 40:54me. They've got really lovely images and illustrations
- 40:58of bees and insects and nature, so it really
- 41:00vibes with me. And I can guarantee that whenever
- 41:02I pull one of these cards on a full moon, it
- 41:05always features a full moon. It's just, you could
- 41:09not make it up. It's absolutely incredible. Can
- 41:12I tell you a quick story that you can... you
- 41:15don't have to keep on this episode please please
- 41:18do please last year we experienced a tremendous
- 41:24loss to our community here but also to for myself
- 41:28and the owner of Spellcrafter her name is Madison
- 41:31her and i are bestie like we we've become very
- 41:34close and linda was a huge mentor of mine i'd
- 41:40known her for eight years going on nine and she
- 41:45was someone who helped me to really step into
- 41:48my my psychic abilities and mediumship and Linda
- 41:53ended up coming to work with us at the store
- 41:55when we opened it and She was that you I mean
- 41:59was teaching us so much every day was teaching
- 42:02us more and more and helping us to develop our
- 42:05abilities and just really wonderful person and
- 42:09She started getting sick. These things were wrong.
- 42:13They thought that she had something that's called
- 42:15a prolapsed uterus and just in horrible pain.
- 42:21They had scheduled this hysterectomy, I think,
- 42:26that they were going to do or try to do and whatnot.
- 42:30Then one weekend, we were sitting around the
- 42:34table. It was a Friday. She was there supposed
- 42:36to be reading and she was feeling like shit.
- 42:38And I said, let's pull cards. And I sat down
- 42:41and I pulled from the Untamed Animal Deck. And
- 42:45I pulled the Bee. And the Bee card was about dedication
- 42:50and responsibility. That day, I put the cards
- 42:55away, whatever. She left. I went home. And on
- 43:00Sunday, she ended up having to go to the ER because
- 43:04her legs got swelled up. And on Monday, we found
- 43:07out. that Linda had stage four cervical cancer.
- 43:12She had chosen to go home on hospice and just
- 43:16live out the rest of her days as comfortably
- 43:17as she could. This is how spiritual this woman
- 43:20was. She said, okay, I'm done. I'm ready to go,
- 43:24ready to clock out. She passed away the Friday
- 43:26after that. Wow. The Thursday before she died,
- 43:30we had gone to her house because she had started
- 43:32going through that transition period where she
- 43:34was in and out of it. This was a time I did see
- 43:37physical shit in her house. It was crazy. But
- 43:40the most important aspect of the story is that
- 43:42we were standing outside and a bee flew over
- 43:47and landed right on my chest. And every time
- 43:51now... a bee shows up in anything. I just know,
- 43:55I'm like, okay, we've got to keep going. Dedication
- 43:57and responsibility. And so when you brought up
- 44:00the bee, Tara, I was like, oh, this is such a
- 44:03huge confirmation of this conversation. It's
- 44:05such a huge confirmation of doing this. And so
- 44:07I had to tell you that story because I'm like,
- 44:08wow, that's such an interesting sort of like,
- 44:11hi, Linda. She's also an attention whore. Thank
- 44:18you so much for sharing that. That was really
- 44:21beautiful. I do find it amazing the way that
- 44:24signs and symbols can come through from our
- 44:26friends and loved ones on the other side. These
- 44:29bee tarot cards, honestly, these deck of cards,
- 44:31they are tarot, but I don't necessarily read
- 44:34tarot per se. For me, they are more oracle cards.
- 44:38They are illustrated by an Australian artist
- 44:40who has her own gallery called Tanglewood Galleries.
- 44:44And she draws and she gets those traits and she
- 44:46paints things from like the fae folk, fairies
- 44:48and the fae folk. This really gorgeous deck of
- 44:51cards. I would recommend anyone looking for a
- 44:54new deck of cards. I really recommend the Bee
- 44:57Tarot. Absolutely gorgeous. I actually have it
- 45:00already up on my phone because I'm going to send
- 45:02it to... Oh, they do look pretty. And I love
- 45:05it. I think that... Cards for divination. This
- 45:10is my own opinion again not thrusting it upon
- 45:13everybody But I do love when cards for divination
- 45:16are hand -drawn first or drawn or created by
- 45:20Somebody even if it's drawn like digitally, it's
- 45:23great But like I I just can't get down with like
- 45:25AI cards. No, you know, no to me. It has to have
- 45:29meaning It has to have soul Okay, I've got a
- 45:36question here and I'm trying to think how I can
- 45:39word it. You are quite a witchy person, Anthony,
- 45:42and it's something I absolutely love about you.
- 45:44It's brilliant. It's not something that I am,
- 45:47but I do love it for other people, and I love
- 45:51what's seen in others as well. You had a very
- 45:54religious upbringing. You had, from what I can
- 45:57tell, lots of ritual. Do you think you would
- 46:01be this witchy? Would you still be this witchy
- 46:04person if you hadn't? have had that ritual that
- 46:09threaded through your life so far, do you think?
- 46:13I think I would be more chaotic as a way. Because
- 46:21here's the thing, I... The witchiness is something
- 46:25that I think is so inherent in my blood. I don't
- 46:27think it is something that I, I don't think it
- 46:30was a nature versus nurture thing. I feel that
- 46:33I would be still very, very witchy. I would have
- 46:36probably just started doing it at a much younger
- 46:37age, but I am such a structured fanatic, a structured
- 46:44fanatic when it comes to my craft. So what I
- 46:46mean by that is like, I don't do super ceremonial
- 46:50rituals, like I'm not a ceremonial witch as some
- 46:53people would call them, but I do love to, like
- 46:56if I'm gonna do spell work, I will come up and
- 47:00write down an ingredients list like I'm doing
- 47:02a fucking cook, a cooking show. And not only
- 47:05will I write down. what I'm doing, I'll write
- 47:07down the intention, I'll put the ingredient,
- 47:09what this ingredient's intention is, and I'll
- 47:12list it all. So here's my herbs, here's my oils,
- 47:14here's my candles, you know what I'm saying?
- 47:16And the way that I get myself into my magical
- 47:20head space and... Stuff like that it is I would
- 47:23say that can be a little bit more ceremonial
- 47:25for myself But not like as like for those of
- 47:28you who are listening if you're practicing Which
- 47:30and you know what I'm talking about ceremonial
- 47:32magic like the Golden Dawn and all that kind
- 47:35of stuff where it's like Super ceremonial robes
- 47:37and all that kind of I don't get that intense
- 47:39But I do like a little bit of structure to my
- 47:42practice especially when I'm going to be doing
- 47:45any sort of like spell work or working with the
- 47:48Working with the seasons or when we do rituals
- 47:50at Spellcrafter you know, we do have a kind
- 47:53of a setup that I like. I feel like if I wasn't,
- 47:56if I did not grow up with that sort of structured
- 47:58religion, I probably wouldn't be as structured
- 48:01with my practice, if that makes sense. But I
- 48:03will say that it was the Mormon religion that
- 48:07helped my mediumship and the connection and feeling
- 48:09like opening myself up to the connection. And
- 48:12so I do kind of feel like the one thing that
- 48:14I can say came from that. I don't know that I
- 48:17would have stepped into mediumship as Deeply
- 48:22like the practice of mediumship not just like
- 48:24the inherent. Oh, I'm seeing things feeling things
- 48:26but like the actual practice of mediumship. I
- 48:28think really Being in that church and them teaching
- 48:32me like the prayer and like how to pray to all
- 48:35that kind of stuff Really? I say how to pray.
- 48:38I don't think you really teach me a lot pray,
- 48:40but you but like to open yourself up to receiving
- 48:44messages from God, quote unquote, helped me to
- 48:47be a better medium now. So I think that when
- 48:50it comes to my witchcraft practice, the structure,
- 48:52but when it comes to like my divination and my
- 48:54mediumship and everything like that, I do think
- 48:56that religion kind of helped me with that too,
- 48:57in a way. Interesting, because my personal religious
- 49:01bias would lead me to think that all those experiences
- 49:04were negative, but from what you're saying, it
- 49:06sounds like you are seeing the good in it, the
- 49:09positives. No, I do see a lot of positives. I
- 49:14do see a lot of negatives, but there is definitely
- 49:18a lot. Like what I said earlier, my fear of talking
- 49:21to guides and reading the cards and stuff like
- 49:25that, I have more of a negative connection when
- 49:28it comes to my sexuality, to structured religion,
- 49:33if that makes any sense. I do get really pissed
- 49:35off about Christianity. and all of the stealing,
- 49:43like the hijacking of Christmas, you know, Yule,
- 49:46the hijacking of Ostara, and even down to like
- 49:50Beltane and the summer solstice, like all that
- 49:52kind of stuff. Like I really get a little irritated
- 49:55about that, but now I don't get as irritated
- 49:57as I used to. Now I kind of laugh about it. I'm
- 49:59kind of like, oh, you guys are practicing witchcraft?
- 50:02Oh, you mean Christmas, nevermind, I'm sorry.
- 50:06No, same here. My family used to get really annoyed
- 50:10with me because I was so serious about it. And
- 50:12they used to say to me, Matt, just lighten up.
- 50:14It's fine. But I was like, no, it matters. The
- 50:17origin of these things, they really matter. Yeah,
- 50:20the origin of things does matter a lot. And I
- 50:23think that was one of the things that really
- 50:26helped me to step away from religion so much
- 50:29was kind of coming to that conclusion of, wow,
- 50:32everything that I grew up doing for Christmas.
- 50:36comes from this pagan outlook, this pagan place
- 50:40of everything. Santa Claus, the tree, the candles,
- 50:45all that kind of stuff comes from this place
- 50:47of magic and beauty and the earth. And we have
- 50:53taken it and not we, the Christian ancestors,
- 50:57I should say, took it and said, here do this
- 51:02now and if you don't do this we're gonna kill
- 51:03you. Which is that's where it becomes like oh
- 51:08my god but yeah that was like a huge that was
- 51:10a huge jumping jumping off point for me of saying
- 51:12oh yeah this is not meant for me whatsoever.
- 51:15Thank you so much for sharing your stories thank
- 51:18you so much for sharing your your journey with
- 51:21us I really appreciate it. Before we do wrap
- 51:24up for this episode if you're up for it I'd like
- 51:26to hit you with a few quick fire questions if
- 51:29that's all right. Yeah let's do it. a bit of
- 51:31fun for pride season. Witch or medium? If you
- 51:35had to pick one label, what one would it be?
- 51:40Ooh, ooh, one label. Which or medium? I think
- 51:44I would do medium. Yeah? I think that's where
- 51:47I'm of the most service and what I think that...
- 51:50The thing is, is I think all witches are mediums
- 51:52anyway. So I'm like, I'm just going to go with
- 51:56medium because I think I do also feel like it's
- 51:58more digestible. I think that I really resonate
- 52:02with these. the label of medium and as much as
- 52:06I do which but I do kind of feel like if I had
- 52:08to step into one for the rest of my life I would
- 52:11take the label of medium but I would still be
- 52:13doing all my witchy shit I love it love it okay
- 52:16second question a song that is completely you
- 52:19your personal anthem you know at Lady Gaga I
- 52:23was born this way that is my anthem I tell people
- 52:27all the time authenticity breeds abundance and
- 52:30what I mean by that is that when you are living
- 52:31according to the how you were designed to live,
- 52:34that's when everything falls into place. That's
- 52:37when everything works out. And so be yourself,
- 52:40be who you're meant to be. And also if you can't
- 52:42figure that out, then figure out who you're meant
- 52:44to be and it's okay to go on that journey. Absolutely,
- 52:47what a gorgeous message. Okay, number three,
- 52:50what would be your drag name? Oh shit, I don't
- 52:54know. Oh my God, my husband and I play this game
- 52:56all the time and I never land on one. I don't
- 52:59know, I don't know. I had a really good one.
- 53:03I'm going to let you give me a drag name. Oh,
- 53:06God. Don't do that to me. I'm a really bad gay.
- 53:09I really haven't got a clue. I don't either.
- 53:12I feel like we had... Jared is obsessed. My husband
- 53:16is the Rain Man of RuPaul's Drag Race, and I
- 53:19hope that is not an offensive thing to say, but
- 53:21I say that because he can literally hear a song
- 53:24and say, oh, this was season four, episode five.
- 53:27Oh God, mine is exactly the same. I can hear
- 53:30one song, watch one film or one TV show, knows
- 53:34exactly what the lyrics are, knows exactly who
- 53:37the cast members are, and it's like got some
- 53:40sort of crazy brain that just retains this information,
- 53:42yet cannot, for the life of him, find his car
- 53:45keys. It's so fucking annoying. That is, that's
- 53:49Jared, that's my husband. I feel like if I had
- 53:51a drag name it'd probably be something like really,
- 53:53I love naming. like objects. So I have a porch
- 53:56goose that was gifted to me and I named her Stacy.
- 53:59And so I think I would want like a name, like
- 54:01a really basic white girl name, like Stacy or
- 54:04Amber, you know, and then something real slutty
- 54:07for like the blast name, like Stacy Vagina or
- 54:10something stupid. Well, this shows how bad of
- 54:13a gay I am, right? I just cheated. I just typed
- 54:15into Google, drag names for psychics. And this
- 54:18is what comes up. Claire Voyant. Oh, that's cute.
- 54:23Why didn't I think of that? That pisses me off.
- 54:27Apparently, this one's for a tarot reader. Anagram.
- 54:30I don't get that reference. I'm not sure. Anagram?
- 54:33Oh, maybe, yeah. I still don't get the reference
- 54:36to psychics. But Divina Nation? Divina Nation.
- 54:41I like that one. Yeah, I'm a fan of that one.
- 54:44Divina Nation. I like that one. Wow. Now that
- 54:47makes me want to like... I don't know, psychotic
- 54:50medium? No, I'm joking. Okay, final quickfire
- 54:55question. I'm sure you are very popular, Anthony.
- 54:58I'm sure your WhatsApp groups are firing off
- 55:01at all times. If your spirit team was to have
- 55:05a WhatsApp group for you, what would it be called?
- 55:08Oh my god. It would probably be called Should
- 55:11I Mute This Group Chat? I am I will say this
- 55:17I and the advice I give people all the time is
- 55:20like don't ask the same question over and over
- 55:22again and if you're getting the same answer I
- 55:25am so guilty I'm so guilty of like saying please
- 55:28show me the sign for this please show me a sign
- 55:30for this you know and I do feel that or they
- 55:33they'd probably also name it why is he crying
- 55:36I'm a cancer so I ask I ask my guides a lot of
- 55:43times some of the same questions over and over
- 55:45again, whether it be through tarot, or I use
- 55:47the pendulum a lot, or if I'm in meditation,
- 55:50I'm always asking for that. Am I doing the right
- 55:53shit right now? Am I going the right direction?
- 55:54All this type of stuff. And so I feel like they,
- 55:57I do feel this sort of, this sort of sense of
- 56:00like, shut the fuck up, you know? Like quit asking
- 56:02the same shit again. We'll tell you if you're
- 56:04off. If I were them, I would mute me, truthfully.
- 56:08I'll be honest with you. I bug them more than
- 56:09I bug my actual physical friends and family.
- 56:15Let's have a RuPaul moment. Let's pretend I've
- 56:18got a picture here of six -year -old Anthony
- 56:20Light in Cornfield, Illinois. What would you
- 56:24say? To little Anthony, knowing the journey that
- 56:27you have had so far, what would you tell him?
- 56:31I would say... And I want tears, by the way.
- 56:34I really want tears. No, because I will. I told
- 56:37you, I will cry. I think I would tell myself...
- 56:43I would tell myself, they're real. What you're
- 56:46seeing is not a fake. It's real and you're not
- 56:49crazy. And then I would remind myself, I would
- 56:52tell myself also... It is not your responsibility
- 56:55what other people do. Do not take responsibility
- 56:58for what your mom does. Do not take responsibility
- 57:00for what everybody else does. But just know that
- 57:01everything that you're about to go through is
- 57:03going to be so fucking worth it. And I don't
- 57:06want you to change anything. Just go for it.
- 57:09I really feel that. And trust me, young one,
- 57:13what you're going to turn into is going to be
- 57:15something that you would never have dreamed of.
- 57:18And you'll be so happy about it. I have to tell
- 57:21you. Do you know, I'm sure you know who Jade
- 57:24is, because she's from the UK, Jade. Yes, it
- 57:28took me a minute, but yes, I do know, yes. We
- 57:30saw her in Philadelphia. I saw, yes, on one of
- 57:33your Instagram stories. So fucking incredible.
- 57:38But she said, I wasn't even supposed to go to
- 57:40this show. And I have been, last year was a huge
- 57:42work of inner child, a huge year of working on
- 57:45inner child stuff. And she said to me, she said,
- 57:48she said to me. Not to anybody else in the audience.
- 57:52Only you. She spotted Anthony. He's the only
- 57:55person in the room. Only you. I need to talk
- 57:57to this queer. No, she said to the audience,
- 58:01she said, if your younger self could see you
- 58:05now, they would be gagged. And I thought to myself,
- 58:08oh my fucking God, yes, he would. I am living
- 58:13the most magical life. making a living off of
- 58:18being a witch and a psychic medium. And if my
- 58:21younger self, if I could go back to that little
- 58:23boy watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer and, you
- 58:26know, just like, just like in awe and having
- 58:29all these beautiful imaginary thoughts and drawing
- 58:32these things and all that stuff, if I could go
- 58:34back to that little kid right now and show him
- 58:36what I'm doing and what he's going to do when
- 58:38he gets older, that boy would shine, he would
- 58:43be so happy, he would be gagged. And so I think
- 58:46about this a lot. Like, I'm like, wow, I should
- 58:48be so very proud. What a gorgeous message. Oh,
- 58:52I love it. We actually saw Jade in a festival
- 58:55or at a festival last year, last summer. Honestly,
- 58:58it was amazing, just phenomenal. She was only
- 59:00out for like three or four songs, but the energy
- 59:02and the power is just fantastic. And like I said
- 59:05before, I'm a bad gay, I'm a bad gay, and I didn't
- 59:09re -know who she was, and my other half was like,
- 59:11she's in that band... Little Mix. Yes, thank
- 59:14you. See, see, bad gay, but I just, I haven't
- 59:16got a clue. So I didn't re -know who she was,
- 59:19but by the end of the set I was like, yes, I'm
- 59:21loving it, this is amazing, this is brilliant.
- 59:24I'm going to tell you, I didn't know that about
- 59:25her until my husband told me, so also bad gay.
- 59:28I'm horrible at pop culture. Well at least I'm
- 59:30not alone on that one then, that's good news.
- 59:32Anthony, thank you so much for today. Where can
- 59:35people find you? So you can find me on Instagram.
- 59:40My name is Anthony Lightz, L -I -G -H -T -Z.

- 1:00:23topics. Last episode we talked about the Mercury
- 1:00:26retrograde and navigating Mercury retrograde.
- 1:00:29This next episode that we are going to be recording
- 1:00:31and it's going to come out then, you're the first
- 1:00:33one, nobody knows this, is going to be about
- 1:00:35the ethics of being a psychic medium and working

- 1:00:57You both touch on so many different topics and
- 1:00:59you really engage with your audience. You have
- 1:01:01this segment called QAHA, which, yes, exactly.
- 1:01:06So last episode, I really enjoyed last episode
- 1:01:08because you both sang QAHA. I really, really
- 1:01:11enjoyed it. Oh, gosh. Thank you so much for tonight.
- 1:01:14I really appreciated it. Absolutely, Matt. Thank
- 1:01:17you so, so much. And I hope you have a wonderful
- 1:01:20rest of your evening. Likewise. It's been such
- 1:01:23a pleasure. Thank you so much. OK, I'm now back
- 1:01:30at home. I have recovered from the mighty hoopla.
- 1:01:34Wow, what a good day that was. Thank you so much,
- 1:01:38Anthony Light, for your time, for your story,
- 1:01:42for telling us all about your upbringing and
- 1:01:45your coming out, not only of The Closet, but
