- 0:00Speaker 1: Toby and Chili mornings on demand on 97.1 Wash FM.
- 0:05Speaker 2: Well, good morning class and welcome to Thursday morning in
- 0:08Speaker 2: the nation's capital. We are Toby and Chili in the morning.
- 0:11Speaker 2: It's 97.1 Wash FM. Hey, grab the phone at 866-927-4361.
- 0:13Speaker 2: Call us right now. Tell us what it is that's
- 0:15Speaker 2: making you feel good before five this morning. Where's the
- 0:24Speaker 2: joy coming from today? I've got some joy, but I'll
- 0:28Speaker 2: tell you about it in a second. Chilly Amar, how
- 0:30Speaker 2: about you first?
- 0:32Speaker 3: I'm feeling joy because my almost 13-year-old pulled out not one,
- 0:36Speaker 3: but two teeth last night before bed.
- 0:39Speaker 2: Joy is losing teeth.
- 0:41Speaker 3: He had like six or seven baby teeth left about
- 0:44Speaker 3: three months ago. Right. And now he has maybe three
- 0:48Speaker 3: more left. So we're doing really well.
- 0:50Speaker 2: So he pulled out two?
- 0:51Speaker 3: Yeah, he pulled out two of them.
- 0:52Speaker 2: That's at least $ 40 from the Tooth Fairy.
- 0:54Speaker 3: Let's not go crazy.
- 0:55Speaker 2: Come on now.
- 0:56Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 0:56Speaker 4: $ 40.
- 0:56Speaker 3: We'll see. We'll see if the Tooth Fairy left anything
- 0:59Speaker 3: for him.
- 0:59Speaker 2: I'm telling you that that's very, very valuable. Teeth, the enamel.
- 1:03Speaker 3: Hey, you did your business with your daughter and the
- 1:06Speaker 3: Tooth Fairy. Leave it up to me and my husband
- 1:08Speaker 3: to figure out the Tooth Fairy situation.
- 1:10Speaker 2: The price of inflation, though, since my daughter was your
- 1:12Speaker 2: son's age. I'm just saying.
- 1:13Speaker 4: All right.
- 1:13Speaker 3: I don't get involved in your daughter's situation.
- 1:15Speaker 2: These times are changing.
- 1:17Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:18Speaker 3: So why are you feeling good?
- 1:19Speaker 2: I'm feeling good, Chili, and this is going to sound weird,
- 1:22Speaker 2: but I had to talk my dad through connecting to
- 1:27Speaker 2: the Apple TV and Peacock Plus so that he could
- 1:32Speaker 2: watch the baseball game last evening. And there's just something
- 1:37Speaker 2: about moments like that where it's generational. You know what
- 1:42Speaker 2: I mean? This is a man who found oil and
- 1:45Speaker 2: gas in East Texas, right? He can scientifically look at
- 1:49Speaker 2: the ground and study things underground and find out. But
- 1:52Speaker 2: when it comes to setting an Apple TV, oh, no, no,
- 1:55Speaker 2: that that was problematic.
- 1:56Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:57Speaker 2: But in the half hour or so that I spent
- 2:00Speaker 2: with him before the old ball game started. It was
- 2:04Speaker 2: kind of a bonding moment.
- 2:05Speaker 4: Oh, good.
- 2:06Speaker 2: And so little moments like that, especially if you have
- 2:09Speaker 2: a parent that you know is a bit older than
- 2:12Speaker 2: you and whatnot.
- 2:12Speaker 3: Let me tell you, I get calls like that, no lie,
- 2:15Speaker 3: every week from my dad.
- 2:16Speaker 2: See, you know.
- 2:17Speaker 3: Because he can't figure out something.
- 2:19Speaker 2: How do I do this?
- 2:19Speaker 3: And I'm glad you think it's a bonding moment. For me,
- 2:22Speaker 3: I'm like, okay.
- 2:23Speaker 2: How do you do this? How do you do this?
- 2:25Speaker 3: Don, Don, can you handle this?
- 2:27Speaker 2: Yeah, right.
- 2:28Speaker 3: My husband, thank God.
- 2:29Speaker 5: Oh, man.
- 2:30Speaker 2: But it was good to spend some time with dad.
- 2:33Speaker 2: even though maybe, you know, I don't know how he
- 2:35Speaker 2: felt about the game, but that's a different story for
- 2:37Speaker 2: a different time. Feeling good? You know where to find us.
- 2:39Speaker 2: In the meantime, hang out for the news, top stories
- 2:41Speaker 2: at the top of the hour. On the way, what
- 2:43Speaker 2: you working on?
- 2:43Speaker 3: Being called a nerd when we were younger used to
- 2:46Speaker 3: be an insult, but you'll be shocked at the number
- 2:49Speaker 3: of people who now say they would take that as
- 2:52Speaker 3: a compliment.
- 2:56Speaker 6: Top stories, top of the hour.
- 2:58Speaker 3: A fly Dubai flight bound for Israel made an emergency
- 3:02Speaker 3: landing in Saudi Arabia after the co-pilot allegedly stabbed the
- 3:06Speaker 3: pilot and the plane went into a steep descent. Passengers
- 3:10Speaker 3: intervened and the co-pilot was later arrested. Israeli officials are
- 3:14Speaker 3: investigating it as a possible terror incident. Tennessee's governor is
- 3:19Speaker 3: ordering an investigation after the execution of a death row
- 3:23Speaker 3: inmate Krista Pike failed. She's alive and in a hospital
- 3:27Speaker 3: after two lethal injections. The now 50-year-old Pike was set
- 3:31Speaker 3: to be the first woman Tennessee has executed in more
- 3:35Speaker 3: than 200 years. Two United Rentals employees were killed and
- 3:39Speaker 3: a third one injured after one of their co-workers opened
- 3:43Speaker 3: fire at the company's Manassas facility yesterday. Police say that
- 3:46Speaker 3: the gunman, 37-year-old Marvin Grant, later died by suicide after
- 3:51Speaker 3: a standoff in Augusta County. WSSC Water has finally lifted
- 3:56Speaker 3: its request for essential use only after a power failure
- 4:01Speaker 3: had shut down its main filtration plant for about 36 hours.
- 4:05Speaker 3: They say the plant is back now at full production. D.C.
- 4:09Speaker 3: residents reportedly have the highest federal student loan debt in
- 4:13Speaker 3: the entire country, averaging more than $ 55, 000 per borrower. Altogether, D.C.
- 4:19Speaker 3: borrowers owe more than $ 6. 4 billion. And being called a
- 4:24Speaker 3: nerd back in the day used to really sting, but 83%
- 4:29Speaker 3: of people now say they would take it as a compliment.
- 4:32Speaker 3: Nearly 70% consider themselves at least a little nerdy, and 95%
- 4:37Speaker 3: would really love to date someone way smarter than them.
- 4:41Speaker 3: forecast for today it's going to feel like summer again
- 4:44Speaker 3: partly cloudy skies highs near 85 right now 62 in
- 4:47Speaker 3: silver spring.
- 4:48Speaker 2: You'll get more top stories at the top of the
- 4:50Speaker 2: hour just about an hour from now 6 10 with

- 5:09Speaker 2: Thursday morning at 97.1 Wash FM with Toby and Chili
- 5:13Speaker 2: in the morning. Time now for us to focus on
- 5:15Speaker 2: you and how you're doing with your morning mindset.
- 5:18Speaker 3: This is where we find a quote and share it
- 5:20Speaker 3: with you to think about as you take on the
- 5:22Speaker 3: rest of your day.
- 5:23Speaker 2: Viola Davis, all dreams are within reach. All you have
- 5:29Speaker 2: to do is keep moving towards them. All dreams, says
- 5:33Speaker 2: Viola Davis, are within reach. All you have to do
- 5:35Speaker 2: is keep moving towards them. You don't have to have
- 5:38Speaker 2: your life figured out by lunch. You don't. Just figure
- 5:42Speaker 2: out your right next move. Then tomorrow, figure out another move.
- 5:48Speaker 2: That's how really big stuff happens, you see. One ridiculously normal,
- 5:55Speaker 2: not glorious, not an attention-seeking step at a time. One move.
- 6:01Speaker 2: Little normal step at a time. Just keep moving toward
- 6:04Speaker 2: those dreams today. All right. It is 97.1 Wash FM.
- 6:08Speaker 2: Hope that helps. That has been your morning mindset. And
- 6:12Speaker 2: if you have things you want to share, something that
- 6:15Speaker 2: motivated you, find us, Toby and Chili page, washfm.com. Don't
- 6:19Speaker 2: go anywhere because in just a bit.
- 6:21Speaker 3: Oh, this is exciting. You know, at the beginning of
- 6:23Speaker 3: the show, we always ask people, why are you feeling good?
- 6:27Speaker 3: And we got some folks on the phone who want
- 6:29Speaker 3: to tell us exactly why they're smiling.
- 6:31Speaker 2: All righty then. 866-927-4361 is the number. It's 97.1 Wash FM.
- 6:39Speaker 2: We're Toby and Chili in the morning. And you are
- 6:40Speaker 2: cordially invited to call us now and tell us why
- 6:43Speaker 2: you are feeling good this morning.
- 6:45Speaker 3: Now, we always ask at the beginning of the show
- 6:47Speaker 3: what's making us feel, Toby and I feel good. And
- 6:50Speaker 3: we love it when you add to the conversation because,
- 6:53Speaker 3: as Toby likes to put it, joy is contagious.
- 6:56Speaker 2: That's right, it is. And Mitchell in Fairfax, you feeling
- 6:59Speaker 2: good this morning? What's good? Today. is my sister's birthday. Well,
- 7:03Speaker 2: happy birthday to ya.
- 7:06Speaker 4: Her.
- 7:08Speaker 3: Do you guys have anything planned?
- 7:09Speaker 2: We're getting ready for it. We're going to go out
- 7:11Speaker 2: and have food and dance and just party the night away.
- 7:15Speaker 2: So I'm very excited for that.
- 7:17Speaker 4: Aww.
- 7:17Speaker 3: That's awesome that you still celebrate each other the way
- 7:20Speaker 3: you do.
- 7:20Speaker 2: Just remember it's a school night. Be kind of careful
- 7:23Speaker 2: if you have to work tomorrow morning, stand out and
- 7:25Speaker 2: dance in the night away. You know that can lead
- 7:27Speaker 2: to a long morning the next morning.
- 7:29Speaker 3: I think they're adults. They can figure it out.
- 7:31Speaker 2: Okay. Well, thank you for the call, Mitchell. Hey, Melissa
- 7:35Speaker 2: in Ellicott City. Good morning. You feeling good?
- 7:38Speaker 3: I cleaned my dogs yesterday, so they're super nice and clean,
- 7:42Speaker 3: and there's not hair getting all over my house right now,
- 7:45Speaker 3: so that's pretty good. There is something to be said
- 7:47Speaker 3: about that dog shampoo smell. Enjoy it while it lasts.
- 7:52Speaker 2: Yeah, that goes away so fast. I don't understand that.
- 7:56Speaker 2: You just want to be just encapsulated, so to speak,
- 8:00Speaker 2: if that's the right word, by the good smells of
- 8:02Speaker 2: your dog. And then all of a sudden, thank you, ma'am.
- 8:05Speaker 2: Enjoy your pooch. And in Centerville. Hi there, Jessica. Why
- 8:10Speaker 2: are you feeling good this morning?
- 8:12Speaker 1: I just got my autumn colors in my hair and.
- 8:15Speaker 5: A matching mani-pedi.
- 8:17Speaker 3: Jessica, I transitioned to my fall manicure color as well.
- 8:22Speaker 5: I am set. I'm set for the season.
- 8:25Speaker 2: Me, too. I found a nice new shade of blonde
- 8:28Speaker 2: that I've dyed all this hair on my head to
- 8:30Speaker 2: be just in time for it to be 90 degrees tomorrow. Because, ladies,
- 8:35Speaker 2: it's not fall.
- 8:37Speaker 3: What hair are you talking about exactly?
- 8:38Speaker 2: Well, you know, the imaginary head. Well, hey, listen, don't
- 8:42Speaker 2: rub it in. But, ladies, summer refuses to get the memo.
- 8:46Speaker 2: I mean, it is time for the seasons to change.
- 8:48Speaker 2: Y'all are ready. It's 97.1 Wash FM. You feeling good
- 8:52Speaker 2: this morning? Tap the talkback microphone. Tell us why it's contagious.
- 8:56Speaker 2: And stay there for the news right around 610 with
- 9:01Speaker 2: Toby and Tilly in the morning. Top stories at the
- 9:03Speaker 2: top of the hour. What's up?
- 9:04Speaker 3: Nearly 2 million WSSC water customers in both Montgomery and
- 9:08Speaker 3: Prince George's counties. can use their water normally again. I've
- 9:13Speaker 3: got the latest on that story coming up in just
- 9:15Speaker 3: a few minutes.
- 9:16Speaker 2: Music from that time when your girlfriends told you don't
- 9:20Speaker 2: when it came to that one guy. We'll relive those
- 9:23Speaker 2: moments all weekend at 97.1 Wash FM. We're Toby and
- 9:27Speaker 2: Chili in the morning.
- 9:28Speaker 3: Tomorrow, 5 p.m. as we do every Friday, we kick
- 9:31Speaker 3: off our best of the 80s and 90s weekend.
- 9:34Speaker 2: Backstreet Boys right now, 97.1 Wash FM. 97.1 WASH-FM, Washington.
- 9:41Speaker 1: An iHeartRadio station. Coming up on Top Stories, top of
- 9:45Speaker 1: the hour.
- 9:46Speaker 3: A Dubai to Israel flight had to make an emergency
- 9:49Speaker 3: landing after the co-pilot allegedly tried to stab the pilot.
- 9:53Speaker 3: We've got the latest on that story and others on
- 9:56Speaker 3: the way. With Toby and Chili in the morning on 97.1.
- 9:58Speaker 5: Wash FM.
- 10:03Speaker 6: Top stories, top of the hour.
- 10:06Speaker 3: A Dubai to Israel flight had to make an emergency
- 10:09Speaker 3: landing after the co-pilot allegedly tried to stab the captain
- 10:12Speaker 3: and crash the plane. A crew member and a passenger
- 10:14Speaker 3: broke into the cockpit as the plane began to dive.
- 10:18Speaker 3: It ended up landing safely in Saudi Arabia. No passengers
- 10:21Speaker 3: were hurt. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth says that the military
- 10:26Speaker 3: is going to cut 20% of its generals and admirals,
- 10:30Speaker 3: and it's to be done by January. But some senators
- 10:33Speaker 3: are calling it a purge. Nearly 2 million WSSC water
- 10:37Speaker 3: customers in Montgomery and Prince George's counties can now use
- 10:40Speaker 3: their water normally again. The conservation request is now over
- 10:46Speaker 3: after a power failure knocked out the utility's biggest plant. D.C.
- 10:50Speaker 3: water customers are going to see higher bills as a
- 10:53Speaker 3: rate increase kicks in tomorrow. Now, this was first set
- 10:57Speaker 3: at 7.5%, but then was cut to just under 6%
- 11:01Speaker 3: to help with affordability, but it still adds about $ 900
- 11:04Speaker 3: a month for the average household. Washington Commanders quarterback Jaden
- 11:10Speaker 3: Daniels back at practice and in London and could return
- 11:14Speaker 3: to a Sunday's game against the Colts. He is wearing
- 11:18Speaker 3: a brace after he dislocated that left elbow and coach
- 11:21Speaker 3: Dan Quinn says that a decision on whether he'll play
- 11:25Speaker 3: will come tomorrow. Nearly three quarters of travelers apparently have
- 11:30Speaker 3: hit a major mishap on a trip and it's costing them.
- 11:34Speaker 3: So weather illness and getting lost have all run people
- 11:38Speaker 3: almost $ 2, 500 on average. Forecast today, going to feel like
- 11:43Speaker 3: summer again. Partly cloudy skies. Highs around 85. Right now,
- 11:48Speaker 3: 63 in Lorton.
- 11:49Speaker 2: That is the news. Top stories at the top of
- 11:53Speaker 2: the hour with Toby and Chili in the morning. You'll
- 11:55Speaker 2: get the news again right around 7.10. In just a
- 11:59Speaker 2: few minutes, though, do you suffer? Suffer from IMS? What's IMS?
- 12:05Speaker 2: Irritable Male Syndrome.
- 12:07Speaker 1: Oh!
- 12:07Speaker 2: What is this IMS and how does it affect relationships, life,
- 12:12Speaker 2: and more? We'll discuss, but in the meantime, if you're
- 12:15Speaker 2: showing symptoms of IMS, ask your doctor if there's a
- 12:19Speaker 2: treatment that's right for you. Hang out because we're talking
- 12:22Speaker 2: about this coming up. IMS. Have you heard of it?
- 12:26Speaker 2: Irritable Male Syndrome. 97.1 Watch FM. We are Toby and
- 12:32Speaker 2: Chili in the morning. What is IMS? Well, Chili.
- 12:36Speaker 3: Well, it's when you feel very grumpy. You have low motivation.
- 12:41Speaker 1: Mm-hmm.
- 12:41Speaker 3: And this apparently occurs in some men as they get older.
- 12:46Speaker 3: It's tied to testosterone dropping between the ages of 40
- 12:49Speaker 3: and 60, which, hello, that's exactly your age right there
- 12:53Speaker 3: in the middle.
- 12:54Speaker 2: Right.
- 12:54Speaker 3: So even though it's not an official diagnosis, do you
- 12:57Speaker 3: identify with testosterone? IMS.
- 13:00Speaker 2: Of course I do. Fatigue, poor sleep.
- 13:03Speaker 4: Yes.
- 13:04Speaker 2: A lower intimacy drive.
- 13:06Speaker 6: Oh, my.
- 13:06Speaker 3: Irritability.
- 13:07Speaker 2: I don't know about the lower intimacy drive, but maybe.
- 13:11Speaker 2: Irritation and all of the things, yes. But I don't
- 13:14Speaker 2: know that it's because of testosterone dropping. I just think
- 13:17Speaker 2: it's because.
- 13:17Speaker 3: Well, you don't know because you haven't been tested for
- 13:19Speaker 3: your testosterone.
- 13:20Speaker 2: Oh, I've been tested every which way from Sunday.
- 13:23Speaker 3: Yeah, but usually testosterone is not something they naturally test for.
- 13:26Speaker 3: Low T is not a problem for me. Then what
- 13:30Speaker 3: is the problem?
- 13:31Speaker 2: No sleep? The problem is no sleep, irritability, fatigue.
- 13:35Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 13:35Speaker 3: Well, they say the best way to combat this is
- 13:38Speaker 3: by exercising, eating better, sleeping better, and just relaxing. Physical
- 13:42Speaker 3: therapy counts as exercise, right? Because it certainly felt like
- 13:45Speaker 3: it yesterday. Although that's pretty much the solution or treatment
- 13:51Speaker 3: for anything bad in life. Exercising, eating better, sleeping. Let
- 13:55Speaker 3: me just make it clear. IMS is not an excuse. Okay.
- 14:00Speaker 3: To behave a certain way.
- 14:02Speaker 4: Right.
- 14:02Speaker 2: All right, guys, please keep that in mind.
- 14:05Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 14:06Speaker 2: If you decide you want to blame IMS for your issues.
- 14:09Speaker 2: And also remember that it's not an official diagnosis.
- 14:12Speaker 3: No.
- 14:12Speaker 2: So I doubt you'll be able to claim any kind
- 14:13Speaker 2: of a medical thing should somebody complain.
- 14:16Speaker 3: But it is worth getting your testosterone checked because that
- 14:18Speaker 3: is something that you guys could definitely address.
- 14:21Speaker 2: The bottom line is, guys, in all seriousness, between the
- 14:24Speaker 2: ages of 40 and 60, you go through a lot
- 14:26Speaker 2: of changes.
- 14:27Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 14:27Speaker 2: So listen to your body.
- 14:29Speaker 3: Yes.
- 14:30Speaker 2: It knows better than you and probably better than any
- 14:33Speaker 2: other doctor.
- 14:34Speaker 4: Mm-hmm.
- 14:34Speaker 3: All right.
- 14:35Speaker 2: And if you want to learn more about IMS, direct
- 14:37Speaker 2: your attention to the Toby and Chili page at WatchFM.com. Now,
- 14:40Speaker 2: stay there because.
- 14:42Speaker 3: OK, so speaking of bodies, there are people who make
- 14:45Speaker 3: a living body doubling. Well, it's not like Hollywood body
- 14:50Speaker 3: double gimmicks. It's like a whole other career path. And
- 14:54Speaker 3: we'll tell you more about that next.
- 14:56Speaker 2: Another day, another TikTok trend. It's 97.1 Wash FM, Toby
- 15:00Speaker 2: and Chili in the morning. This trend is aimed at
- 15:03Speaker 2: those of you who don't like doing adulting type things,
- 15:07Speaker 2: cleaning the bathroom, doing laundry, dishes maybe.
- 15:10Speaker 3: It's especially popular with people who have ADHD. It's body doubling.
- 15:14Speaker 3: So basically you hire someone else to either do the
- 15:19Speaker 3: work for you or stand there and cheer you on,
- 15:23Speaker 3: I guess is the best way to phrase it, to
- 15:24Speaker 3: make sure that you stay on task. And by the way,
- 15:28Speaker 3: people who do this, they charge anywhere from $ 25 to
- 15:31Speaker 3: $ 40 an hour.
- 15:33Speaker 2: Because you need a life coach, basically, to make you
- 15:36Speaker 2: do your thing. Exactly.
- 15:37Speaker 3: You need a motivator.
- 15:39Speaker 2: Or you just hire someone to handle the cleaning, which
- 15:41Speaker 2: is like hiring a cleaning person.
- 15:45Speaker 3: And here's the other part that I don't get. Some
- 15:48Speaker 3: people are body doubling remotely, like through a video chat.
- 15:52Speaker 3: It's like they dial you up and be like, listen,
- 15:55Speaker 3: I need you to hold me accountable. Be my accountability buddy. Like,
- 15:58Speaker 3: make sure I clean out this closet and just kind
- 16:01Speaker 3: of watch me do it and help me get through it.
- 16:03Speaker 3: I'm like, dang, I'll do that.
- 16:05Speaker 4: Sure.
- 16:05Speaker 2: Then they start popping off on you and you get annoyed.
- 16:08Speaker 2: And that's when you go and you plug your wireless router. Oh, man,
- 16:12Speaker 2: I lost signal. I'm so sorry.
- 16:15Speaker 4: My bad.
- 16:17Speaker 3: Look, I already parent a kid with ADHD, so I'm
- 16:20Speaker 3: totally fine doing it for somebody else, especially if I'm
- 16:23Speaker 3: going to get paid 40 bucks an hour.
- 16:25Speaker 2: Look, there's no no harm, no foul in a side
- 16:27Speaker 2: hustle and making some real money. But I will tell
- 16:30Speaker 2: you that this stuff already seems to exist. Just go
- 16:34Speaker 2: to that app called TaskRabbit. I'm sure you can find
- 16:38Speaker 2: any number of people who are ready to help you

- 18:12Speaker 3: an investigation after the failed execution of death row inmate
- 18:15Speaker 3: Krista Pike. She's alive now and in a hospital after

- 20:46Speaker 2: Welcome from Waldorf, Jessica. You got the question. What's your guess?
- 20:50Speaker 5: I would have to say cleaning the bathroom.
- 20:52Speaker 2: Oh, OK.
- 20:53Speaker 3: So somebody who doesn't clean the bathroom is a deal
- 20:57Speaker 3: breaker for you.
- 20:57Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 20:58Speaker 5: It's pretty gross.
- 21:01Speaker 6: It's a very good.
- 21:02Speaker 3: Guess, and it's kind of in the same category as
- 21:05Speaker 3: our actual answer, but that's not it.
- 21:08Speaker 2: Yeah, but somebody's nasty in your life.
- 21:11Speaker 3: No.
- 21:12Speaker 2: I was going to say, you make them clean or
- 21:14Speaker 2: you kick them to the curb. I'm just saying.
- 21:16Speaker 5: Exactly.
- 21:17Speaker 2: All righty.
- 21:18Speaker 3: Try again tomorrow, Jessica.
- 21:20Speaker 6: Okay.
- 21:20Speaker 2: And who is this? Where do you stay?
- 21:23Speaker 5: My name is Fran and I am from Edgewater.
- 21:25Speaker 2: Welcome Fran and Edgewater. Fire away with your guest this morning.
- 21:29Speaker 5: I think it is when they do not put the.
- 21:32Speaker 3: Toilet seat down.
- 21:33Speaker 2: What is the fascination with the banyo this morning?
- 21:36Speaker 3: It's actually a really good guess, but gosh. No, that's
- 21:40Speaker 3: not it either.
- 21:41Speaker 2: Have you dumped somebody because they leave that seat up,
- 21:43Speaker 2: causing you to have to do extra work while you're
- 21:45Speaker 2: in the pursuit of the throne, so to speak?
- 21:47Speaker 5: I would like to actually divorce my husband over it.
- 21:49Speaker 5: There's been many nights that I fell in the bowl.
- 21:51Speaker 2: Well, okay. By the way, if you're in a divorce
- 21:54Speaker 2: attorney and you want to give us a call right
- 21:56Speaker 2: now here at 97.1 Wash FM, we'd be happy to

- 22:01Speaker 2: You too. Try again tomorrow. Thank you, ma'am. And what
- 22:04Speaker 2: is your name? Where are you from?
- 22:06Speaker 5: My name is Krista and I'm from Shepherdstown, West Virginia.
- 22:09Speaker 2: Welcome from the land that's wild and wonderful. You have
- 22:13Speaker 2: a guest for us? Do you have a guest for us?
- 22:15Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 22:16Speaker 5: So you leave your dishes.
- 22:18Speaker 3: In the kitchen sink. Oh, you think 35% of people
- 22:23Speaker 3: have broken up with somebody because the person left dirty
- 22:25Speaker 3: dishes in the sink?
- 22:27Speaker 1: Yes.
- 22:27Speaker 2: Well, that's a great guess. It's also the right answer.
- 22:30Speaker 2: Have you dumped anybody because of this?
- 22:32Speaker 4: I haven't, no.
- 22:36Speaker 3: Well, that's good, too. But, yeah, you're going to go
- 22:39Speaker 3: see Teddy Swims at Capital One Arena October 13th.
- 22:42Speaker 2: Congratulations.
- 22:43Speaker 6: Yes, I'm so excited.
- 22:45Speaker 2: Oh, these tickets are now yours because you knew that
- 22:49Speaker 2: leaving that sink all full of these dirty dishes is
- 22:53Speaker 2: a deal breaker for some. And it's not for you,
- 22:56Speaker 2: thank God. So who are you going to take to
- 22:57Speaker 2: see Big Teddy Swims?
- 22:59Speaker 5: I'm going to take my boyfriend.
- 23:01Speaker 2: Awesome. And what is his name?
- 23:02Speaker 5: His name is Maury.
- 23:03Speaker 2: Enjoy the show. Congratulations. And thanks for listening to 97.1
- 23:08Speaker 2: Wash FM this morning.
- 23:09Speaker 3: Thank you.
- 23:09Speaker 4: All right.
- 23:10Speaker 3: Bye-bye.
- 23:11Speaker 2: Got more tickets. Teddy swims tomorrow morning with another round
- 23:13Speaker 2: of your nearly impossible question. Be here to play and
- 23:16Speaker 2: win just after the news right around 710. And on
- 23:19Speaker 2: the way next.
- 23:20Speaker 3: We've got Sammy from Friendship Heights. She wants to know
- 23:23Speaker 3: if she's a jerk because she wants to ask her
- 23:25Speaker 3: neighbor to take some of his Halloween decorations down. Why?
- 23:31Speaker 2: Wait till you hear this. We're talking this morning. All right, Chili,
- 23:35Speaker 2: you ready for this? We've got a phone call from
- 23:37Speaker 2: Sammy who lives in Friendship Heights. It's 97.1 Watch FM.
- 23:41Speaker 2: Toby and Chili in the morning. She apparently needs our
- 23:45Speaker 2: help with something.
- 23:46Speaker 3: All right, Sammy, go ahead. Good morning. I love you guys.
- 23:49Speaker 4: I listen to you all the time. I have to
- 23:51Speaker 4: vent about this. I need to know, am I being
- 23:53Speaker 4: a jerk?
- 23:54Speaker 3: What's going on?
- 23:55Speaker 4: Am I a jerk if I ask my neighbor who always,
- 23:58Speaker 4: every year, puts up this terrifying Halloween decoration that's the
- 24:03Speaker 4: scary psycho clown?
- 24:05Speaker 3: What's the issue with the clown?
- 24:07Speaker 4: My seven-year-old is so scared of clowns. And he's been
- 24:11Speaker 4: afraid of it from five years old, six years old. Oh.
- 24:14Speaker 2: Okay.
- 24:15Speaker 4: Am I a jerk if I ask him, hey, can
- 24:16Speaker 4: you not put that up this year?
- 24:18Speaker 3: Can you define what you mean by he's scared of it?
- 24:21Speaker 4: My kid has been having nightmares, and it's right in
- 24:23Speaker 4: front of my house. Am I a jerk if I say, hey,
- 24:26Speaker 4: let's skip it this year?
- 24:27Speaker 2: Okay. Shelly, you want me to take this?
- 24:29Speaker 3: Yeah, go ahead and start.
- 24:30Speaker 2: All right, Sammy. First of all, I'm not going to
- 24:32Speaker 2: call you a jerk, but I will say this. Mm-hmm.
- 24:35Speaker 2: It's their house. You have no right to ask them
- 24:37Speaker 2: what they can and can't display at Halloween. I'm sorry
- 24:41Speaker 2: that your son gets a little freaked out, but I mean, really?
- 24:44Speaker 3: That's what Halloween is, right? Really?
- 24:47Speaker 2: Don't let him go over there trick or treating.
- 24:49Speaker 5: Okay.
- 24:49Speaker 2: Let him go over there and knock on the door
- 24:51Speaker 2: if he's going to stay up all night scared and
- 24:53Speaker 2: he's going to.
- 24:53Speaker 3: But he sees it because it's right in front of
- 24:55Speaker 3: their house. So I totally get where you're coming from.
- 24:58Speaker 3: I think it's OK to maybe bring it up if
- 25:01Speaker 3: you've got a good relationship with the neighbor, but not
- 25:03Speaker 3: coming from a place of don't put it up.
- 25:05Speaker 2: I don't know. I think you start with this and
- 25:08Speaker 2: it's going to unleash like people who are Christmas haters.
- 25:11Speaker 3: What's scary for one is not necessarily scary for other.
- 25:14Speaker 3: There are certain things that are definitely inappropriate and it's
- 25:17Speaker 3: probably in the HOA if you have one. But just
- 25:20Speaker 3: a scary clown. Yeah, that's going to be tough.
- 25:23Speaker 2: Yeah, you'll lose that argument in front of the HOA,
- 25:25Speaker 2: the Community Association, and the people who live on your block.
- 25:29Speaker 2: So I wouldn't even fight the war. 866-927-4361. Got some
- 25:35Speaker 2: thoughts for Sammy in Friendship Heights? Is she a jerk
- 25:39Speaker 2: for asking her neighbors to pull down scary clowns and
- 25:42Speaker 2: Halloween decor?
- 25:43Speaker 4: Yay?
- 25:44Speaker 3: Nay?
- 25:44Speaker 2: What you gotta say? We'll talk coming up, Sammy. Stay
- 25:47Speaker 2: right there for us, okay?
- 25:49Speaker 4: Thanks, guys.
- 25:50Speaker 3: Welcome.
- 25:51Speaker 2: In the meantime, right around 8, 10 top stories at

- 26:04Speaker 3: And I will share that with you coming up in
- 26:06Speaker 3: just a few minutes.
- 26:07Speaker 2: You desperately need a weekend away like Annapolis, Charlottesville, maybe
- 26:12Speaker 2: even the Salamander. You need this weekend without the kids,

- 26:19Speaker 2: 97.1 Wash FM, Toby and Chili in the morning.

- 26:55Speaker 6: Top stories, top of the hour.
- 26:57Speaker 3: Tennessee's governor says they're going to investigate after their attempt
- 27:01Speaker 3: to execute Krista Pike failed. Pike survived two lethal injections
- 27:06Speaker 3: and is now in a hospital, and she would have
- 27:08Speaker 3: been the first woman the state has executed in more
- 27:11Speaker 3: than 200 years. Nearly 2 million WSSC water customers in
- 27:16Speaker 3: Montgomery and Prince George's counties can start using their water
- 27:19Speaker 3: normally again because the plant is back at full production.
- 27:24Speaker 1: D.C.
- 27:25Speaker 3: Water customers are going to be seeing higher bills as
- 27:28Speaker 3: a rate increase kicks in tomorrow. Now, it was set
- 27:32Speaker 3: at 7.5%, but then it was cut to just under 6%
- 27:36Speaker 3: to help a bit with affordability. Maryland is now the
- 27:39Speaker 3: first state to ban dynamic pricing. Starting today, stores and

- 29:02Speaker 2: Sammy is still hanging on the line. Want to hear
- 29:05Speaker 2: what you have to say about her question to us.
- 29:07Speaker 2: Is she a jerk for wanting a neighbor to get
- 29:10Speaker 2: rid of her Halloween costume? you know, decorations on the house.
- 29:13Speaker 2: Apparently there's a scary clown and it creeps out our
- 29:17Speaker 2: kid and kid gets all paranoid and whatnot.
- 29:20Speaker 4: Thoughts?
- 29:21Speaker 2: Call us. Let's talk in a minute. A little bit ago,
- 29:26Speaker 2: we were talking with Sammy here at 97.1 Wash FM
- 29:30Speaker 2: with Toby and Chili in the morning. She wants to
- 29:32Speaker 2: know if we think she's some sort of a jerk
- 29:35Speaker 2: because she wants her neighbors to pull down some spooky
- 29:38Speaker 2: Halloween decorations.
- 29:40Speaker 3: Well, specifically, she says there's a very creepy clown that
- 29:43Speaker 3: he puts up every year that freaks out her seven-year-old
- 29:46Speaker 3: to the point that he has nightmares.
- 29:48Speaker 2: I'm not going to discount these people who have these
- 29:50Speaker 2: clown phobias. They're a real thing and people have them.
- 29:53Speaker 2: But what do you think? Is she a jerk for
- 29:55Speaker 2: asking her neighbor to pull down her decorations? Nicole, good morning.
- 30:01Speaker 2: And Cabin John.
- 30:02Speaker 4: That is a total jerk movie.
- 30:03Speaker 6: It's Halloween. If you don't get what Halloween is about,
- 30:07Speaker 6: then I think.
- 30:07Speaker 2: You're a Karen and you probably have a problem. Wow,
- 30:10Speaker 2: you threw the whole Karen thing in there.
- 30:12Speaker 3: So you think it's more than just trick-or-treating?
- 30:15Speaker 2: I think Halloween's all about the scares and the creepy
- 30:18Speaker 2: clown stays.
- 30:19Speaker 4: You know what?
- 30:19Speaker 5: If she doesn't want her kid to see it, go
- 30:21Speaker 5: the other way.
- 30:22Speaker 2: It's like one weekend.
- 30:23Speaker 3: Out of the year.
- 30:24Speaker 2: Yeah, that's right. You tell them, Nicole.
- 30:26Speaker 3: Except the decorations are up for several weeks, you know,
- 30:30Speaker 3: not just for that one weekend. Hmm.
- 30:32Speaker 6: You can't take life too seriously. It's a decoration.
- 30:34Speaker 3: Come on.
- 30:35Speaker 2: Thank you for the call this morning. Let's go over
- 30:37Speaker 2: here and see what Amanda in Warrington has on her
- 30:39Speaker 2: mind about this hallowed jerkiness. Is Sammy indeed a jerk
- 30:43Speaker 2: for wanting to ask her neighbor to pull down the
- 30:45Speaker 2: creepy clown?
- 30:46Speaker 6: I think it's potentially doable.
- 30:49Speaker 2: How so?
- 30:50Speaker 5: It depends on how you go about it.
- 30:51Speaker 4: You got to be real nice. You got to be
- 30:53Speaker 4: real cozy. Cozy.
- 30:55Speaker 2: Not necessarily the word I would have used, but okay.
- 30:59Speaker 3: And also those decorations, especially the bigger ones, they're not cheap.
- 31:03Speaker 3: Or what if you get them like another other crazy
- 31:07Speaker 3: thing that maybe doesn't necessarily scare your kid?
- 31:09Speaker 6: Like you subsidize.
- 31:10Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 31:11Speaker 2: Chili, what do you think?
- 31:12Speaker 3: I think that if you subsidize with something, you could
- 31:15Speaker 3: end up scaring somebody else. You know, not everybody can
- 31:18Speaker 3: agree on what is spooky.
- 31:20Speaker 4: Truth.
- 31:21Speaker 5: Halloween's not going anywhere.
- 31:22Speaker 3: So maybe your child should grow a pair.
- 31:24Speaker 6: Suck it up, buttercup.
- 31:27Speaker 2: October 10th, put on some pink and join us down

- 32:08Speaker 3: Security and the Department of Energy.
- 32:10Speaker 2: All righty then. Enjoy working at one of the best
- 32:14Speaker 2: places you can work in the nation's capitol. Over two
- 32:17Speaker 2: hours of commercial-free music. It's 97.1 Wash FM. Toby and
