- 0:00Speaker 1: The Force will be with you always.
- 0:18Speaker 2: Hello, everyone, Welcome back to another episode of Star Wars Alliance,
- 0:22Speaker 2: your Home and Geek Ultimate Alliance podcast network for any
- 0:26Speaker 2: and I'll think Star Wars. I'm your host as always,
- 0:29Speaker 2: it's Katie, and with me as always is Clay Clay
- 0:34Speaker 2: and I couldn't remember who was in charge of intro,
- 0:36Speaker 2: so basically for who feels the least worst.
- 0:42Speaker 3: Yeah, And I was just about to say, guys, if
- 0:45Speaker 3: we feel down and out, it's nothing dramatic other than
- 0:49Speaker 3: the fact that we are both sick. So it's getting worse.
- 0:56Speaker 3: On my side. I think Katie is able to take
- 1:00Speaker 3: care of herself. I'm just a big baby when I'm sick,
- 1:02Speaker 3: so I complain a lot. I don't take any medicine,
- 1:05Speaker 3: and then I complain that I'm still sick. That's just
- 1:09Speaker 3: the route I go. And then Abby had to like
- 1:11Speaker 3: basically force feed me medication this morning.
- 1:15Speaker 2: No shit, take your damn drugs.
- 1:20Speaker 1: Uh.
- 1:23Speaker 3: Well, like it's it's just like I get so like
- 1:27Speaker 3: drowsy and I'm just like a couch potato the entire
- 1:30Speaker 3: time and is not drowsy.
- 1:33Speaker 2: Take the Suda fed.
- 1:35Speaker 3: I need to go grab some suita fed.
- 1:37Speaker 2: Then so that way our moceutical Suda fed, not the
- 1:41Speaker 2: over the counter crap.
- 1:44Speaker 3: Well, see that's gonna be harder to take, or at
- 1:46Speaker 3: least harder to get because it's not over the counter,
- 1:50Speaker 3: so I have to go.
- 1:52Speaker 2: But that's the only kind worth getting.
- 1:55Speaker 3: That's probably true, That is most very true. But yeah, anyways, today,
- 2:04Speaker 3: of course is our November news catchup as well as
- 2:09Speaker 3: we are finally after I think a year reviewing yeah,
- 2:15Speaker 3: the Battle of jacku.
- 2:18Speaker 2: Yeah, because I think originally I had this on our
- 2:20Speaker 2: calendar for February and you were like, uh, Katie, this
- 2:22Speaker 2: doesn't come out until June. Yeah, and then June through
- 2:27Speaker 2: December or November has been swamped with other things.
- 2:31Speaker 3: So yeah, it's it's been pretty crazy, but we are
- 2:34Speaker 3: finally going to talk about the Battle of jack Who
- 2:38Speaker 3: after this And then also little tidbit for all of
- 2:42Speaker 3: you book nerds out there, this is not going to
- 2:46Speaker 3: be live. We're going to do this immediately after the show,
- 2:49Speaker 3: but in prep for season two of Percy Jackson, Katie
- 2:55Speaker 3: and I are also going to be recording the book
- 3:00Speaker 3: review for book two, which is a Sea of Monsters yep,
- 3:05Speaker 3: And so that will be a Patreon exclusive so jump
- 3:12Speaker 3: onto our Patreon if you want to hear our book review.
- 3:16Speaker 3: It's something that we've decided to do ever since the
- 3:19Speaker 3: release of the first season, going in order of every
- 3:23Speaker 3: single book right before the season release. So I think
- 3:27Speaker 3: that season releases on the tenth, so in literally seven days,
- 3:33Speaker 3: and you'll get to hear our thoughts on the book. So,
- 3:38Speaker 3: without further ado, Katie, let's go ahead and jump into
- 3:41Speaker 3: our news segment. Where do you want to start off?
- 3:46Speaker 2: I was gonna ask you that question.
- 3:49Speaker 3: I think it's safe to say we should go.
- 3:51Speaker 2: In order top to bottom of it. Is that works?
- 3:55Speaker 3: Yes? So yeah, go ahead.
- 3:57Speaker 2: So the first bit on my list. Now, guys, I
- 4:01Speaker 2: have coagulated this news doc together from UH Star Wars
- 4:09Speaker 2: News Net, which is where we typically get our coverage.
- 4:13Speaker 2: This is their This Week in a Galaxy Far Far
- 4:16Speaker 2: Away series. I just kind of went through UH this
- 4:21Speaker 2: Week's and then all of the November ones and was like, Okay,
- 4:24Speaker 2: what are the big things that we missed? So in
- 4:28Speaker 2: some cases I have the original interview tagged with the item,
- 4:35Speaker 2: but I just wanted to credit Star Wars news Net
- 4:37Speaker 2: first of all. But I'm not I may not have
- 4:40Speaker 2: all of the original interview locations for credits and stuff.
- 4:46Speaker 2: So the first one is uh, Starfighter news. Starfighter is
- 4:52Speaker 2: in the middle of filming and is looking to wrap
- 4:55Speaker 2: by the end of the year. Sean Levy, the director
- 4:59Speaker 2: of the film, in in promotion for Stranger Things season
- 5:07Speaker 2: five releasing, did an interview on the podcast on Film
- 5:13Speaker 2: with Kevin McCarthy I'm Sorry, Clay, where he said Thomas
- 5:18Speaker 2: Newman is set to compose. He worked on Shawshank, Redemption,
- 5:23Speaker 2: Wally nineteen seventeen, and American Beauty as some of his
- 5:27Speaker 2: top previous films. He also said that Levy also said
- 5:33Speaker 2: that the entire third act went out the window while shooting.
- 5:37Speaker 2: It's said to have been tossed due to technical issues,
- 5:40Speaker 2: but could also be scheduling conflicts. So that's all they've
- 5:45Speaker 2: really said. But Levy has been rewriting the third act
- 5:49Speaker 2: while he's filming. He's currently in the middle of actually
- 5:53Speaker 2: shooting those pages and is much happier with what he
- 5:57Speaker 2: has than what there was originally. And the other thing
- 6:00Speaker 2: I found that was interesting is Matt Smith, who is
- 6:05Speaker 2: reportedly the villain in the film, is only filming in December.
- 6:13Speaker 2: It looks like so he's only going to be there
- 6:16Speaker 2: for a couple of.
- 6:17Speaker 3: Weeks, which is disappointing, but I mean I would really
- 6:26Speaker 3: like to know, like some of the best villains in
- 6:32Speaker 3: cinema history and their screen time honestly, just to see
- 6:39Speaker 3: like does it really matter or is it the poor
- 6:43Speaker 3: or if it's the performance, which I do believe it
- 6:48Speaker 3: is the performance. Of course, Katie and I are really
- 6:52Speaker 3: big fans of Matt Smith, not only because of his
- 6:58Speaker 3: connections to of course Doctor Who, but some other shows
- 7:03Speaker 3: and movies that he has been in as well. He's also,
- 7:08Speaker 3: you know, most likely, I shouldn't say most likely, let
- 7:12Speaker 3: me reel back. He is in the running for Brainiac
- 7:16Speaker 3: for the next Superman movie, which is very, very exciting.
- 7:21Speaker 3: But yeah, I am very excited to see more Matt
- 7:26Speaker 3: Smith in my life because I feel like he has
- 7:29Speaker 3: been just empty or just gone from Hollywood for a
- 7:35Speaker 3: little bit, and I need him to be back in
- 7:38Speaker 3: the limelight.
- 7:39Speaker 2: So this is the rancor dot com list of best
- 7:44Speaker 2: villains with minimal screen time. Number one on their list
- 7:49Speaker 2: is Heath Ledgers Joker with thirty three minutes of the
- 7:54Speaker 2: Dark Knight's one hundred and fifty two minute performance. Hannibal
- 8:00Speaker 2: Lecter is number two with twenty four minutes and fifty
- 8:03Speaker 2: two seconds, Hans Gruber in die Hard twenty three minutes
- 8:11Speaker 2: of one hundred and thirty two minutes, Wicked Witch of
- 8:14Speaker 2: the West twelve minutes, so.
- 8:17Speaker 3: It's still like a fourth of the movie. Really. The
- 8:23Speaker 3: Wicked Witch of the West is on that list.
- 8:27Speaker 2: Yeah, from The Wizard of Oz because she was in
- 8:30Speaker 2: the film for just twelve minutes, that's true. And then
- 8:40Speaker 2: the only other one I really recognize on this list
- 8:44Speaker 2: would be How the Grinch Stole Christmas Jim carreyes. The
- 8:49Speaker 2: Grinch appears throughout the film, but the scenes total less
- 8:55Speaker 2: than thirty minutes, so just some fun.
- 9:00Speaker 3: Other Wise, Wow, really only thirty minutes of that entire movie.
- 9:04Speaker 3: That's wild. Yeah, that's wild.
- 9:09Speaker 2: Short little snippets.
- 9:11Speaker 3: Really, that's true. It's it's very you know, quick cuts
- 9:15Speaker 3: and stuff. That's very true. That is all we have
- 9:20Speaker 3: for Starfighter.
- 9:23Speaker 2: How do you feel? How good about the third act
- 9:26Speaker 2: being retooled?
- 9:28Speaker 3: I was going to say that bothers me a little bit,
- 9:34Speaker 3: like and it must suck, like I'm not I'm not
- 9:36Speaker 3: going to just be like, oh, you know, the whole
- 9:39Speaker 3: movie's ruined, blah, blah, but like to have a vision
- 9:43Speaker 3: and then like to have technological limitations.
- 9:50Speaker 2: M hmm. On that.
- 9:51Speaker 3: For one, I think something like that should have been
- 9:56Speaker 3: tested before production, before production.
- 10:02Speaker 2: Because and maybe it was that it just misfired or
- 10:06Speaker 2: safety came in and was like, oh this, I don't
- 10:08Speaker 2: like how this is. Yeah, that's true, But it also
- 10:13Speaker 2: could have boiled down to scheduling issues as well, like
- 10:16Speaker 2: maybe he thought he was gonna have somebody like maybe
- 10:18Speaker 2: Matt Smith was supposed to be two months of filming
- 10:22Speaker 2: but now can only do one.
- 10:24Speaker 3: Yeah, I was gonna say that, like I like a
- 10:29Speaker 3: quick knee jerk reaction is like, man, that makes me
- 10:33Speaker 3: worry about this movie. But knowing that the director himself
- 10:40Speaker 3: is like actually happy now again, I understand this. This
- 10:46Speaker 3: could all be just said at face value because he
- 10:48Speaker 3: doesn't want to say anything negative about the production that
- 10:51Speaker 3: would look really bad on him Lucasfilm and Disney. But
- 10:56Speaker 3: if it's true that he's actually happy with what he
- 10:59Speaker 3: had as now compared to what he had, like good.
- 11:03Speaker 3: Like that that is the work of a really good
- 11:08Speaker 3: director and writer. Is that you can make a swift
- 11:12Speaker 3: change and still make everything flow.
- 11:16Speaker 2: Yeah, I would agree, and I mean this could happen
- 11:19Speaker 2: in other films that you just don't get this publicity.
- 11:22Speaker 2: We've talked about it several times with Star Wars films.
- 11:26Speaker 2: Is that Star Wars is just going to get more
- 11:27Speaker 2: publicity than some indie pictures, and so this has probably
- 11:32Speaker 2: happened in the past. Heck, I feel like, oh, agents,
- 11:39Speaker 2: Agents of Doomsday, Avengers Doomsday, like we see it talked
- 11:45Speaker 2: about all the time that Hey, the Russo's went in
- 11:48Speaker 2: with basically no script. So it happens. I feel like
- 11:56Speaker 2: this will either be a good thing or showcase Hollywood
- 12:01Speaker 2: so that Hollywood learns in like eight years, hey, we
- 12:03Speaker 2: need to do better about pre production. Yeah, so well
- 12:09Speaker 2: we'll see. I enjoy the Shawshank Redemption uh soundtrack.
- 12:17Speaker 3: Well, yeah, that was something else that I was going
- 12:19Speaker 3: to point out, Like we have been so used to
- 12:23Speaker 3: the comfortability of lucasfilm and picking their composers right, like,
- 12:31Speaker 3: h We've gotten used to Michael Giaccino, and then I
- 12:36Speaker 3: can never pronounce his name, uh for Mandalorian.
- 12:43Speaker 2: Oh gosh, I'm gonna have to look it up.
- 12:47Speaker 3: Is it Ludwig something? Yeah, Like I I can't remember
- 12:52Speaker 3: his last name, uh Nson Gorenson, like we've we've been
- 12:57Speaker 3: so used and then with G's son recently, right, and
- 13:02Speaker 3: so like getting more people into the universe of Star
- 13:08Speaker 3: Wars films, I think that is going to be so
- 13:13Speaker 3: much fun. Again, Like, I am a really big fan
- 13:20Speaker 3: of Wally soundtrack. I'm a really big fan of nineteen
- 13:24Speaker 3: seventeen's soundtrack as well as American Beauty. So like, I'm
- 13:32Speaker 3: really excited for this. I'm really excited to see how
- 13:37Speaker 3: he portrays Star Wars composing.
- 13:43Speaker 2: You know, yeah, I would do. I think the music
- 13:46Speaker 2: of Star Wars has been some of the best qualities
- 13:49Speaker 2: of what Star Wars has brought to the Hollywood efforts
- 13:55Speaker 2: and everything. So my hope is that we get another
- 13:58Speaker 2: beautiful soundtrack. I will say I would have hoped that
- 14:04Speaker 2: they would have brought in somebody like I hope that
- 14:08Speaker 2: there was other people given a chance to do this,
- 14:10Speaker 2: because we haven't seen a female composer for Star Wars.
- 14:15Speaker 2: We haven't seen a person of color composed for Star
- 14:19Speaker 2: Wars other than no that was low key never mind.
- 14:25Speaker 2: So I would have just loved to see somebody else
- 14:27Speaker 2: roped into this. Obviously, this guy is more than qualified,
- 14:30Speaker 2: but I hope that other people were given the chance
- 14:33Speaker 2: to go this is what I'd love to do.
- 14:35Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah, And again for me, seeing that Newman is
- 14:43Speaker 3: being chosen for Starfighter gets me excited for other smaller projects. Again,
- 14:51Speaker 3: Like Starfighter is in this weird limbo currently of like
- 14:59Speaker 3: it's small because it's not an episodic Star Wars title,
- 15:04Speaker 3: but it's still big enough because it's the first Star
- 15:08Speaker 3: Wars movie of characters that we don't know in a
- 15:13Speaker 3: very long time, right, And.
- 15:15Speaker 2: Kennedy has backed Levey up and gone go wild like, yeah,
- 15:19Speaker 2: if you don't want to use a character, I'm not
- 15:21Speaker 2: enforced to use a character. If you want to use
- 15:24Speaker 2: a character, let's see what we can do to make
- 15:26Speaker 2: it happen. Like Levy has basically set stated like he's
- 15:30Speaker 2: getting free reign with this, and I kind of dig it,
- 15:34Speaker 2: but also I'm kind of worried it's gonna get written
- 15:36Speaker 2: off as a tax break. So but maybe that doesn't
- 15:43Speaker 2: happen for big ip. Well no, well Willow is not
- 15:47Speaker 2: big ip, but it did get written off.
- 15:51Speaker 3: I think Looney Tunes, Looney Tunes is a big ip.
- 15:56Speaker 3: I think DC is a big ip, you know, And
- 16:01Speaker 3: now thankfully the Loney tunes. The uh Coyote versus z
- 16:07Speaker 3: Acme is going to release soon, and you know, we
- 16:13Speaker 3: got that turned around, but like they could still you know,
- 16:18Speaker 3: at the at the very end of the day pull
- 16:21Speaker 3: the rug underneath lucasfilm and be like, uh, you know,
- 16:24Speaker 3: let's let's not do it, you know, but let's let's not.
- 16:27Speaker 3: Let's hope that it doesn't come to that. So our
- 16:38Speaker 3: next topic of the new segment is a sooka. Now, uh,
- 16:47Speaker 3: Claudia Black is returning for season two.
- 16:51Speaker 2: And she was one of the night mothers.
- 16:54Speaker 3: Yes, uh, well, actually I don't think she is returning.
- 16:59Speaker 2: If she returning on returning for season two, so it
- 17:03Speaker 2: was originally returning.
- 17:05Speaker 3: Yeah, that's that's what. Yeah, Okay, because I did see
- 17:08Speaker 3: the article prior to us putting this on our notes,
- 17:13Speaker 3: she said they picked up season two, picked me up
- 17:15Speaker 3: with it, and then Disney, which is structuring things differently
- 17:20Speaker 3: these days, could not pay me what I needed to
- 17:23Speaker 3: be paid as a single mother to keep all my
- 17:26Speaker 3: responsibilities going home in Los Angeles because they were filming
- 17:30Speaker 3: in London. It was not something that they could make happen,
- 17:34Speaker 3: and therefore I had to bow out of season two.
- 17:39Speaker 2: And that's super sad because her performance is one of
- 17:43Speaker 2: the I'm calling them night mothers, but like they're really
- 17:47Speaker 2: I don't think that's their actual title. But her performance
- 17:52Speaker 2: as one of those night mothers was spectacular and so
- 17:56Speaker 2: for the little time that we had her, Claudia, I'm
- 17:58Speaker 2: super glad you were part of ours. I hope there
- 18:01Speaker 2: was nothing in her contract that said her performance could
- 18:04Speaker 2: be reused for AI purposes, because we know the studios
- 18:08Speaker 2: have started to bring that in more. Hopefully the role
- 18:13Speaker 2: is just being recast yeh. And Disney needs to pay
- 18:17Speaker 2: their actors more or stop producing things where people don't
- 18:21Speaker 2: live for long periods of time.
- 18:23Speaker 3: Well, like for me, I think it's very simple, you know, uh,
- 18:27Speaker 3: the fact that somebody is needing a certain amount of
- 18:33Speaker 3: pay for the bare minimum of the expectation to go
- 18:40Speaker 3: across the world. Like you need to understand that not
- 18:46Speaker 3: every single actor is your jumbo blockbuster, big screen a
- 18:55Speaker 3: list actor that can just be like, oh yeah, put
- 18:58Speaker 3: you know, put me on this private jet and you
- 19:01Speaker 3: know we'll get going. Like I truly believe that Disney
- 19:08Speaker 3: needs to start stepping up and looking at these realistic
- 19:16Speaker 3: terms for people like single mothers, people with disabilities all
- 19:23Speaker 3: of the above and saying hey, we will accommodate you,
- 19:28Speaker 3: simple as that.
- 19:30Speaker 2: Yeah, No, for sure, I completely agree, and it sucks
- 19:35Speaker 2: that it's happening. I feel like this is only going
- 19:38Speaker 2: to become more commonplace, especially with these minor roles like
- 19:42Speaker 2: you said, like, oh, people who want to play your
- 19:45Speaker 2: role or Dimond doesn't like are they though? Are they
- 19:53Speaker 2: all right? So the next part of the Hsoka stuff,
- 19:54Speaker 2: I realized I didn't put the title on this one,
- 19:57Speaker 2: but this is a pod of Rebellion interview with Henry Gilroy,
- 20:01Speaker 2: who was a writer, a main writer on Star Wars Rebels,
- 20:05Speaker 2: and this is in reference to Sabine being able to
- 20:09Speaker 2: use the Force, and I pull obviously it was a
- 20:13Speaker 2: podcast interview. Star Wars news Net kind of got the quotes.
- 20:16Speaker 2: I pulled two quotes in particular, so I'm gonna read
- 20:18Speaker 2: those and then we're gonna talk about them. Yep, he said,
- 20:22Speaker 2: it was absolutely not the plan. We really felt that
- 20:25Speaker 2: not only did it step on Ezra's story, it was
- 20:28Speaker 2: a weak retread. We already did this, the idea of
- 20:32Speaker 2: Sabine training as a Jedi when she is already this
- 20:34Speaker 2: fantastic warrior of her own type. We felt this is overkill,
- 20:40Speaker 2: and he kind of continued it later when also talking
- 20:43Speaker 2: about the Dark Saber, he said, I was shocked. What
- 20:46Speaker 2: I love about the story with the Dark Saber is
- 20:48Speaker 2: that you don't have to be a Jedi to have
- 20:50Speaker 2: Jedi ideals. I think that's what's really the more important thing,
- 20:55Speaker 2: rather than force pushing as around one hundred feet when
- 20:57Speaker 2: you've never used the force before.
- 21:02Speaker 3: So first, Henry, take a chill pill, for one is
- 21:08Speaker 3: something that I have to say. But two, I am
- 21:13Speaker 3: in between. And the reason being is I really don't
- 21:23Speaker 3: like and we will get into this with the Battle
- 21:25Speaker 3: of Jaccu, because it there is something from a previous
- 21:32Speaker 3: work in Star Wars that is in the same time period.
- 21:38Speaker 3: They don't match up, and I got angry. I put
- 21:42Speaker 3: it on my notes. I said, WTF, this is a
- 21:47Speaker 3: canonical error. What the hell? But we'll get into that
- 21:50Speaker 3: when we talk about the Battle of Jackku. When I
- 21:54Speaker 3: looked at this, the reason why I'm in between is
- 21:58Speaker 3: because I true still believe if you are continuing a
- 22:06Speaker 3: story of characters that have been previously worked on, that
- 22:13Speaker 3: should be a group effort. For notes reasons, for canonical reasons,
- 22:20Speaker 3: and everything else. Now, if it is a push on, hey,
- 22:26Speaker 3: this story needs to move forward with Sabine using the
- 22:30Speaker 3: Force and wielding a lightsaber. You just have to come
- 22:38Speaker 3: to terms with that.
- 22:39Speaker 4: I'm sorry, But this whole thing of like, oh, I'm
- 22:44Speaker 4: shocked and now I'm gonna have to, you know, defend
- 22:48Speaker 4: my baby as far as my work and all this
- 22:51Speaker 4: other stuff.
- 22:51Speaker 3: I think it's dumb that they did this because they
- 22:53Speaker 3: you know, basically through all of the characterization that I
- 22:57Speaker 3: wrote into oblivion, like that's not cool. I I truly
- 23:02Speaker 3: believe that's not cool. But I do think that Henry
- 23:07Speaker 3: Gilroy needs to take a step back understand that this
- 23:11Speaker 3: is a very large ip that is not his, and
- 23:17Speaker 3: that these things happen because of the ip that he
- 23:23Speaker 3: is dealing with.
- 23:25Speaker 2: I can definitely see where you're coming from. Huller is
- 23:30Speaker 2: probably a character that's very near and dear to his
- 23:32Speaker 2: heart because he probably helped create the band from scratch
- 23:37Speaker 2: as a character. I know Timothy John was super pissed
- 23:41Speaker 2: off when mar Jade was killed off in Legacy. Uh
- 23:46Speaker 2: it's not Legacy of the Jedi. Maybe it is. When
- 23:51Speaker 2: Marjade was killed off and he was you knew that
- 23:56Speaker 2: already did. I you should have, because I've talked about
- 24:02Speaker 2: it plenty of times. I don't disagree with where he's
- 24:08Speaker 2: coming from. Is it maybe a bit strong? But this
- 24:11Speaker 2: was also an interview talking about rebels and kind of
- 24:14Speaker 2: some things that have moved forward. A lot of people
- 24:16Speaker 2: have begun to view rebels and Ahsoka in different frames
- 24:20Speaker 2: of mind and kind of treating them as separate characters.
- 24:23Speaker 2: And I think that's what our big point was when
- 24:26Speaker 2: we're doing Ahsoka, was Hey, this could have been a
- 24:29Speaker 2: different character that you could have chosen him to do
- 24:31Speaker 2: this on, and Sabine could have maintained because we talked
- 24:34Speaker 2: about this at length with the ahsokaerviews. Is does this
- 24:37Speaker 2: take away from the fact that Sabine was a Mandalorian,
- 24:42Speaker 2: very strong Mandalorian, But now you want to turn her
- 24:45Speaker 2: into a Jedi? And yes, Mandalorians can be Jedis, But
- 24:49Speaker 2: her character was already so beautiful as it was. And
- 24:51Speaker 2: I think that's Henry's point, is why would you? Because
- 24:55Speaker 2: he talked I know there's a different quote out there,
- 24:57Speaker 2: but I couldn't find it in this interview, but he
- 25:00Speaker 2: about how they had that idea for somebody else who
- 25:03Speaker 2: was proven to have no force sensitivity or wasn't gifted
- 25:07Speaker 2: in the force becoming that Jedi and learning that skill
- 25:11Speaker 2: and everything. But he didn't want it to be Sabine
- 25:14Speaker 2: because he thought Sabine had a good basis for where
- 25:17Speaker 2: she was at a sea Mantlorian. And I still agree
- 25:19Speaker 2: with that. I still don't like the hey, let's take
- 25:24Speaker 2: this character and go with it. I think there was
- 25:28Speaker 2: enough there where you didn't have to do that because
- 25:32Speaker 2: of what she does with the dark Saber in Rebels
- 25:36Speaker 2: season three, Like, I feel like there's plenty of leeway
- 25:39Speaker 2: there for her to go, Okay, she can use a lightsaber,
- 25:42Speaker 2: but do we really want to give her force powers?
- 25:44Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 25:44Speaker 2: Like, so that's my opinion. I don't think he's overreacting.
- 25:49Speaker 2: I think he's valad to have these feelings. Obviously it's
- 25:54Speaker 2: not his character anymore, but he can still feel the
- 25:56Speaker 2: way he wants to feel.
- 25:58Speaker 3: Yeah, And that's why I'm kind of That's why I'm
- 26:00Speaker 3: in between, Like I do understand that that is his baby,
- 26:06Speaker 3: you know, being able to create a character within this ip.
- 26:09Speaker 3: You see that a lot in Marvel and DC, and
- 26:12Speaker 3: they come to terms with like, hey, I'm doing this
- 26:14Speaker 3: for a multi million dollar company and I will never
- 26:19Speaker 3: own the rights to this character. And I'm not saying
- 26:23Speaker 3: that Henry did not like have that conversation with himself,
- 26:28Speaker 3: but like it's very unfortunate that, like, hey, it is
- 26:33Speaker 3: Star Wars. You do have to let go of that.
- 26:37Speaker 3: But just remember you have five seasons of Rebels, four seasons, sorry,
- 26:44Speaker 3: four seasons of Rebels, so you can you could watch
- 26:48Speaker 3: Sabine be a badass Mandalorian whenever you want.
- 26:53Speaker 2: Yeah, so you always have what's come before. And then
- 27:05Speaker 2: the last thing out of this one was and I
- 27:08Speaker 2: could not find a source for this, it was just
- 27:10Speaker 2: kind of a throwoff mention, but Rosario Dawson I believe
- 27:14Speaker 2: it was at a con hinted at a more lighthearted
- 27:18Speaker 2: Ahsoka coming in season two of Ahsoka.
- 27:21Speaker 3: So I think this is going to feel a little
- 27:27Speaker 3: weird because like, yes, for us fans of this genre,
- 27:37Speaker 3: this you know, Ip, we have seen all of Clone Wars.
- 27:41Speaker 3: We know where her story began and we know where
- 27:44Speaker 3: it's ended. So like we've seen the evolution of Ahsoka,
- 27:49Speaker 3: We've seen her be joyous and funny and quirky, and
- 27:53Speaker 3: like seeing her do that here in live action for
- 27:57Speaker 3: season two, like, it'll probably warm our little hearts being like,
- 28:01Speaker 3: oh there's there's a little Ohsoka again, right. I think
- 28:06Speaker 3: it's going to hit a little off because this is
- 28:12Speaker 3: a brand new chemistry that we're probably still gonna be
- 28:15Speaker 3: seeing with like Hayden, you know, and so it's just
- 28:20Speaker 3: gonna it's gonna feel a little weird at first, but
- 28:23Speaker 3: I think we can get behind that, you know.
- 28:26Speaker 2: Yeah, I do too. And I know a lot of
- 28:29Speaker 2: people were like, why is Ahsoka so stoic? And I
- 28:33Speaker 2: think the stoicism that we got in Rebels makes sense
- 28:36Speaker 2: because she was there so little, and so every time
- 28:40Speaker 2: you really see Ahsoka in there, she's on a very
- 28:42Speaker 2: specific mission. So that stoicism is needed, especially with the
- 28:46Speaker 2: rest of the cast. In this case, everybody's kind of
- 28:49Speaker 2: downtrotten until Esra gets to appear, Like, so it'll be
- 28:56Speaker 2: nice to see what the change is or if there's
- 28:59Speaker 2: really a change, because we all know sometimes what a
- 29:02Speaker 2: character portrayer thinks is lighthearted or different emotional scale is
- 29:07Speaker 2: not always what the audience thinks in that emotional scale.
- 29:12Speaker 3: Yeah, So the next topic that we have is the acolyte.
- 29:18Speaker 3: I know that there is hundreds of people that just
- 29:21Speaker 3: groaned at me saying this, But guys, let's face facts.
- 29:27Speaker 3: This was a great show. The cancelation was uncalled for.
- 29:31Speaker 3: We've kind of seen the actual evidence of that. But
- 29:36Speaker 3: Leslie Hedlin on the cancelation of the show in an
- 29:40Speaker 3: interview with The Rap, she stated, I was not surprised
- 29:44Speaker 3: by it. I think I was surprised at the swiftness
- 29:48Speaker 3: of it and the public publicness of it. I was
- 29:52Speaker 3: surprised by how it was all handled. But once I
- 29:56Speaker 3: was getting particular phone calls about the reaction and the
- 29:59Speaker 3: crit and the viewership, I felt like, Okay, the writing's
- 30:04Speaker 3: on the wall for sure.
- 30:06Speaker 2: And this was not the only particular quote in this.
- 30:10Speaker 2: Star Wars news Net has all of the Acolyte cancelation
- 30:14Speaker 2: quotes on their website, so you can go and check there,
- 30:18Speaker 2: because we don't have time to discuss the whole thing,
- 30:22Speaker 2: but I felt like this was probably the most relevant
- 30:25Speaker 2: because as a director, as a creator or something, you
- 30:28Speaker 2: never want to see your piece get canceled. You want
- 30:32Speaker 2: to see it loved and everything. And Leslie, I do
- 30:35Speaker 2: think at some point it will come out in the
- 30:40Speaker 2: net positive, especially as more things come out and people
- 30:42Speaker 2: are like Oh, well, this is horrible. Why can't you
- 30:44Speaker 2: make it like the acolyte. We're gonna see that happen.
- 30:47Speaker 2: And she talked about that in the interview too, talking
- 30:50Speaker 2: about how okay, people have started to pick up AP's
- 30:54Speaker 2: I pee reactions as their content and as their paycheck,
- 30:58Speaker 2: and studios are deciding to use those content creators as
- 31:03Speaker 2: their focus group instead of bringing in a neutral focus
- 31:07Speaker 2: group to really kind of showcase what the main opinion
- 31:12Speaker 2: is because we all know, as Star Wars fans in particular,
- 31:16Speaker 2: the negative opinions are always going to shine the brightest
- 31:19Speaker 2: because those are the ones that get people talking. And
- 31:24Speaker 2: so she definitely saw it, and probably as an LGBTQ member,
- 31:30Speaker 2: she probably was like, oh, like, I know this is coming,
- 31:34Speaker 2: Like it's not meant to be, and I'm just glad
- 31:37Speaker 2: it wasn't written off for tax purposes at the end
- 31:39Speaker 2: of the day, like we still get to go back
- 31:42Speaker 2: to Disney Plus and have this beautiful shew. It definitely sucks.
- 31:48Speaker 2: I encourage people to go look at the full interview.
- 31:51Speaker 2: She's launching her own production company, which is where this
- 31:53Speaker 2: interview came out of, because this is the first time
- 31:55Speaker 2: she's really spoken about it. There's a lot of good
- 31:58Speaker 2: insight in there to Hollywood as a whole, so.
- 32:04Speaker 3: Very cool. I didn't know that that's cool. Uh, next
- 32:10Speaker 3: topic again, people are gonna groan, but I love it.
- 32:15Speaker 3: I absolutely love it. Ryan Johnson from The Hollywood Reporter.
- 32:20Speaker 3: The Hollywood Report Reporter reported he had been offered Return
- 32:26Speaker 3: of Skywalker Skywalker, sorry point the Rise of Skywalker due
- 32:34Speaker 3: to the Last Jedi box office, but JJ Abrams was
- 32:38Speaker 3: announced to direct the film three months before The Last
- 32:42Speaker 3: Jedi came out. Ran Johnson on Blue Sky stated, I
- 32:46Speaker 3: never was going to do it, and I never turned
- 32:49Speaker 3: it down. So like people were like snapping their fingers
- 32:53Speaker 3: at this, like, ooh right, yes, go after them, right,
- 32:57Speaker 3: how do you feel about this?
- 32:59Speaker 2: I do still wish that Ryan Johnson had been able
- 33:04Speaker 2: or at least if he was offered to do Rise
- 33:08Speaker 2: of Skywalker, because I do think he would have done
- 33:11Speaker 2: it probably a little more poetic justice, especially in regards
- 33:14Speaker 2: to Carrie Fisher's passing, And honestly, there's not a lot
- 33:21Speaker 2: that JJ Abrams really could have done differently, honestly, because
- 33:26Speaker 2: he was pushed to release Rise of Skywalker at the
- 33:29Speaker 2: same release date and wasn't allowed to push it back,
- 33:32Speaker 2: and he kind of just had to work with what
- 33:34Speaker 2: he was given. Like at least Carrie Fisher's family gave
- 33:38Speaker 2: permission to use that unused footage from Force Awakens and
- 33:42Speaker 2: The Last Jedi to kind of really push the meter forward.
- 33:47Speaker 2: But I know Ryan Johnson worked with Carrie Fisher on
- 33:50Speaker 2: rewrites for The Last Jedi. Like we've talked about it before,
- 33:54Speaker 2: but Carrie Fisher was basically like a script editor in
- 33:58Speaker 2: her free time, and that was like her main job
- 34:02Speaker 2: for yeah, like Hollywood career.
- 34:04Speaker 3: If you look at her IMDb, she has so many credits,
- 34:08Speaker 3: which is absolutely bonkers. I've actually looked it up once,
- 34:13Speaker 3: mainly because like for me, it wasn't until I think
- 34:18Speaker 3: twenty oh well, no, two thousand and eight. I don't
- 34:23Speaker 3: want to sound weird and say, twenty oh eight, two
- 34:25Speaker 3: thousand and eight, she was in this random horror film
- 34:31Speaker 3: and I was like, holy crap, that's Princess Leah, and
- 34:35Speaker 3: so like I looked up like what all she had
- 34:37Speaker 3: been in since Star Wars, and yeah, she had an
- 34:42Speaker 3: amazing resume in Hollywood, and I think that's just great.
- 34:49Speaker 3: Now again, more people with snapping of their fingers. Here
- 34:53Speaker 3: we have been soaking up all of the hunt for
- 34:57Speaker 3: Ben solo stuff, and Ryan was asked about it, he says,
- 35:03Speaker 3: I want to see Adam in another Star Wars movie, man,
- 35:06Speaker 3: I want to see yes. And then also one thing
- 35:11Speaker 3: that we didn't put on here that we did see
- 35:13Speaker 3: in November was some tongue in cheek photos from Adam
- 35:20Speaker 3: and a completely different country taking photos in front of
- 35:24Speaker 3: some pinball machines, one of them being a specific Star
- 35:30Speaker 3: Wars pinball machine, and him having the biggest grin on
- 35:33Speaker 3: his face and he knew exactly what he was doing.
- 35:38Speaker 3: So I I love when actors do this because they
- 35:44Speaker 3: just don't give a damn anymore. And it's kind of
- 35:49Speaker 3: in the same realm of what we're going to be
- 35:50Speaker 3: talking about with Oscar Isaac as well. But why don't
- 35:54Speaker 3: you take that bullet point?
- 35:56Speaker 2: All right? So Oscar Isaac, in an interview with g
- 36:01Speaker 2: Q magazine, uh, said this on returning to work with Disney. Yeah,
- 36:06Speaker 2: I mean, I'd be open to it, although right now
- 36:08Speaker 2: I'm not so open to working with Disney. But if
- 36:11Speaker 2: they can kind of figure it out and you know,
- 36:13Speaker 2: not succumb to fascism, that would be great. Love.
- 36:18Speaker 3: Yeah, No, I I shared the video to some of
- 36:25Speaker 3: the GUA members that we all we all kind of
- 36:27Speaker 3: follow each other on TikTok, and I told them I
- 36:33Speaker 3: love that this quote didn't just come from a like
- 36:36Speaker 3: off screen interview. You actually see him say this in
- 36:41Speaker 3: front of a camera. He knows exactly what he's doing. Like,
- 36:45Speaker 3: I love this because, yeah, fuck fascism.
- 36:51Speaker 2: The man is just a legend, and I love all
- 36:54Speaker 2: of the pieces he's in and I'm super excited. I
- 37:00Speaker 2: haven't had a chance to sit down and watch Frankenstein,
- 37:02Speaker 2: but I really do want to.
- 37:04Speaker 3: It's on my to do list before the end of
- 37:07Speaker 3: the year. Like every single time that I'm just sitting
- 37:11Speaker 3: in my living room and everybody else is asleep, I'm like,
- 37:14Speaker 3: I could stay up and watch it, but I know
- 37:16Speaker 3: I'll probably fall asleep, so I'll wait.
- 37:20Speaker 2: Yeah. And also, just as a stein not completely unrelated
- 37:24Speaker 2: to anything we're talking about, other than the fact that
- 37:27Speaker 2: Frankenstein is on Netflix, screw you Netflix for not having
- 37:31Speaker 2: Wake Up Dead Men be in theaters in South Carolina,
- 37:36Speaker 2: or at least.
- 37:38Speaker 3: I will say, I think it's kind of bs that
- 37:41Speaker 3: they're only doing limited releases.
- 37:45Speaker 2: Worst scenario I have seen every or I say, everyone,
- 37:49Speaker 2: I've seen both Knives Out films previously in theaters, and
- 37:52Speaker 2: I was really looking forward to seeing this one, Like
- 37:54Speaker 2: I had all my babysitting coordinated and everything, and then
- 37:58Speaker 2: KABLUEI no, wake up that well no.
- 38:02Speaker 3: And I think like, for one, hey, Netflix, let me
- 38:06Speaker 3: just tell you, you would probably have a better chance at
- 38:11Speaker 3: buying WB if you had box office money. You stupid
- 38:15Speaker 3: bitches like you you refuse to have a like a
- 38:22Speaker 3: full release of K Pop Demon Hunters, Like even the
- 38:27Speaker 3: singalong version it was on select theaters, it wasn't worldwide.
- 38:31Speaker 2: Streaming is not going to make you money long term.
- 38:36Speaker 3: Yeah, Like, I understand. I understand the want because hey,
- 38:43Speaker 3: that was your business model, coming from somebody who was
- 38:47Speaker 3: literally building a business on on something that will legitimately
- 38:51Speaker 3: be in the same boat you were in. Guess what
- 38:55Speaker 3: I'm also doing though, Oh well I actually can't say that,
- 39:00Speaker 3: so you'll have to wait and see. But yeah, like,
- 39:06Speaker 3: I just think it's so dumb because not only with
- 39:09Speaker 3: Cake Pop Demon Hunters, but with this as well. You've
- 39:14Speaker 3: had multiple movies with directors saying, hey, I really wish
- 39:21Speaker 3: I could have had a theatrical release. They would have
- 39:24Speaker 3: even gone with a limited theatrical release and you still
- 39:27Speaker 3: didn't give it to them. Like, if you're so worried
- 39:30Speaker 3: about being in the hole and then not being able
- 39:32Speaker 3: to make these bigger purchases that will better your company, Hey,
- 39:36Speaker 3: make the smarter move here, guys. Really sorry, that was
- 39:43Speaker 3: a little bit of a rant there.
- 39:44Speaker 2: No, we completely went off topic, and that's fine because
- 39:48Speaker 2: I was just really pissed off about Lake of Dead Men.
- 39:50Speaker 2: I was really wanting to see the theaters. So yeah,
- 39:55Speaker 2: I believe that concludes our news segment for the evening.
- 40:06Speaker 3: Yes, and now we are off to the Battle of Jacku. Now, guys,
- 40:14Speaker 3: if you do not have a local comic book shop
- 40:18Speaker 3: or a Barnes and Noble nearby not sponsored, go check
- 40:23Speaker 3: out Marvel Unlimited. All of these series that are included
- 40:28Speaker 3: in the Battle of Jacku are on Marvel Unlimited. That's
- 40:31Speaker 3: how I was reading it, Katie, I believe actually had
- 40:35Speaker 3: the physical book, so yeah.
- 40:37Speaker 2: Because I still haven't fixed my Marvel Unlimited payment, but yes,
- 40:41Speaker 2: I have the physical book and I even put post its.
- 40:46Speaker 3: Uh So right off the bat, Katie, I'm gonna go
- 40:51Speaker 3: ahead and tell you my very angry.
- 40:54Speaker 2: Well, okay, let's do the credits first so we can
- 40:57Speaker 2: make sure everyone properly so working on this.
- 41:02Speaker 1: Uh.
- 41:02Speaker 2: We have Alex Sigura as the writer. For Insurgency Rising,
- 41:07Speaker 2: which is part one, we have artist Leonard Kirk, Jethrow Morales,
- 41:13Speaker 2: Luke Ross and Stefano Rafael, the color artist being Rachelle
- 41:18Speaker 2: Rosenberg with Alex Sinclair letter for or I'm Gonna wait
- 41:22Speaker 2: for that Republic under Siege, which is part two, we
- 41:27Speaker 2: have artists Stefano Rafael with Jethrow Morales, uh, color artist
- 41:33Speaker 2: being Alex Sinclair with Jim Campbell. And then Last Stand,
- 41:38Speaker 2: which is the final part part three, we have Jethrow
- 41:41Speaker 2: Morales with Leonard Kirk and the color artist being Jim Campbell.
- 41:47Speaker 2: The letter for the entire thing is VC's Joe karamong
- 41:55Speaker 2: Kara Magna cover art. We have Phil Noto for Insurgent
- 42:00Speaker 2: You're Rising, Touring clerk for Republic under Siege, and and
- 42:06Speaker 2: just for Last Stand.
- 42:10Speaker 3: Very nice yes now Star Wars Bettlejaku Insurgency Rising. This
- 42:19Speaker 3: book opens up an issue one.
- 42:23Speaker 2: At the very non spoilers first.
- 42:27Speaker 3: Okay, non spoilers for as Heated is I'm gonna be
- 42:31Speaker 3: for this first bit, like after we go into the
- 42:35Speaker 3: non spoilers. I will also say this, I love the art.
- 42:41Speaker 3: This story kind of fell flat for me, more so because,
- 42:48Speaker 3: like the whole book is called Battle of Jaccu. Mm hmm,
- 42:54Speaker 3: when do we get to Jaccu.
- 42:56Speaker 2: Of the final part if the.
- 42:59Speaker 3: Final issue really it's like the very end of issue three,
- 43:07Speaker 3: but we don't even get like boots on the Ground
- 43:12Speaker 3: until the end of issue four. Don't call this the
- 43:24Speaker 3: Battle of Jacku. Like, what you should really do is
- 43:29Speaker 3: name it like something that is knowingly to the audience. Oh,
- 43:35Speaker 3: this is before the Battle of Jacu. You know, do
- 43:38Speaker 3: a play on words, do something, because I was waiting
- 43:42Speaker 3: for this big space battle. This you know again, boots
- 43:49Speaker 3: on the ground. Hey, this is going to be a
- 43:51Speaker 3: fight for Jacu. Also to find out that the Battle
- 43:59Speaker 3: of Jacku is not even and again minor spoilers in
- 44:07Speaker 3: the non spoiler section, finding out that the Battle of
- 44:11Speaker 3: Jaku is not an actual like order from any living
- 44:17Speaker 3: person at the time. It doesn't. It literally does nothing,
- 44:23Speaker 3: like when.
- 44:24Speaker 2: When you knew that from Aftermath empires in Yes, technically yes,
- 44:29Speaker 2: but when you look at the grander story of Star Wars,
- 44:34Speaker 2: this literally only happens because the Force Awakens takes place
- 44:41Speaker 2: on Jaku.
- 44:44Speaker 3: You're not wrong, Like there is no actual reason for
- 44:49Speaker 3: Jaku to be the centerpoint of this story or this battle.
- 44:53Speaker 2: But it's simply because and I think once you read
- 44:59Speaker 2: Alphabet Squadron you'll get a little more context to it
- 45:02Speaker 2: as well, because there's this whole thing that Battle of
- 45:06Speaker 2: Jack who kind of goes into it's pulling snippets from
- 45:11Speaker 2: Alphabet Squadron as well as Aftermath. So okay, there's a
- 45:15Speaker 2: lot of context because Alphabet Squadron trilogy and Aftermath trilogy
- 45:21Speaker 2: happen nearly identical pacing.
- 45:23Speaker 3: Okay, so that's probably why. Like I saw some of
- 45:26Speaker 3: these characters and I'm.
- 45:27Speaker 2: Like, who are you well, and not really that, but
- 45:31Speaker 2: like Operation Center is like a big focal point of
- 45:35Speaker 2: Alphabet Squadron, but it's mentioned in here because like you
- 45:38Speaker 2: see like the little droids and everything. Sorry, I'm flipping
- 45:40Speaker 2: through trying to find something. So going back to my
- 45:48Speaker 2: non spoiler thoughts, I really enjoyed the art in this
- 45:52Speaker 2: Like I tried to pick out a few key pieces
- 45:55Speaker 2: where I was like, ooh, this is like my favorite,
- 45:57Speaker 2: but like, realistically I love how the art flows in
- 46:01Speaker 2: this book, specifically I love that for our main trio
- 46:05Speaker 2: because we do get hot in this, albeit limited, because
- 46:09Speaker 2: this happens at the same time as Aftermath. He's off
- 46:12Speaker 2: doing something on his own. All of the characters, all
- 46:17Speaker 2: of our main trio, including even Orlando, they look like themselves,
- 46:22Speaker 2: but they don't look like the actors. And I love that.
- 46:28Speaker 3: I was a little wishy watching on that because like,
- 46:33Speaker 3: although I really did love the art here, there was
- 46:37Speaker 3: sometimes where like the same artists would draw Luke Skywalker
- 46:42Speaker 3: inconsistently in all of Insurgency Rising, you know, and I'm
- 46:50Speaker 3: just like, Okay, this is a little weird, but I
- 46:52Speaker 3: can get over it. But then when you move on
- 46:55Speaker 3: to what's the second one? The second one is Republic
- 47:01Speaker 3: under Siege.
- 47:02Speaker 2: Well, and Insurgency Rising had multiple different artists.
- 47:06Speaker 3: Ah, so that makes sense. Okay. So when you're looking
- 47:10Speaker 3: at h Republic Undersiege and you see look, look, you
- 47:18Speaker 3: see Luke, You're like, oh, that's Luke Skywalker. Cool.
- 47:26Speaker 2: Yeah, And I even love how like in this you
- 47:28Speaker 2: have like this character whose name is Weasel. This looks
- 47:35Speaker 2: like the guy who plays R two D two.
- 47:38Speaker 3: Yes, he is also from Willow He uh what's his
- 47:44Speaker 3: name in here?
- 47:44Speaker 2: He?
- 47:44Speaker 3: He actually is a character in Star Wars Weasel. He
- 47:50Speaker 3: is in a New Hope and he is Yes, I am.
- 47:57Speaker 3: I am almost positive he is a New Hope as
- 48:00Speaker 3: well as Return of the Jedi. I'll have to double
- 48:06Speaker 3: check on that, but I am. Yeah. Yeah.
- 48:11Speaker 2: Phantom Menace first appearance.
- 48:15Speaker 3: Oh yeah, that's right. Yeah, Yeah, he's in he's on tattooing.
- 48:20Speaker 2: Yeah, and he's in solo appearances.
- 48:28Speaker 3: He is look at that.
- 48:34Speaker 2: Yeah cool. Okay, Yeah, I really loved the art. I
- 48:41Speaker 2: would agree with you the stories kind of hit or miss,
- 48:43Speaker 2: because I was definitely trying to go through and go like, okay,
- 48:47Speaker 2: where are we at? And aftermath, Like, wait, Leah looks
- 48:52Speaker 2: more pregnant than I would expect her to be based
- 48:55Speaker 2: on everything else.
- 48:56Speaker 3: Okay, that was another thing. When you go from uh
- 49:03Speaker 3: Republic under Siege to Last Stand, she gets jumbo pregnant,
- 49:12Speaker 3: and I don't know how much time has passed between.
- 49:15Speaker 3: It almost seems like immediately after because they're talking about
- 49:19Speaker 3: the same things that are going on at the very
- 49:21Speaker 3: end of Republic Undersiege.
- 49:25Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 49:26Speaker 3: But then like you see Leah and her very famous
- 49:29Speaker 3: like all white outfit and she is like prego prego.
- 49:35Speaker 2: Yeah, and that's where it was like. It was hard
- 49:39Speaker 2: for me to keep track too, because also the other
- 49:43Speaker 2: thing that you have to consider, guys, is we both
- 49:46Speaker 2: hated the Aftermath trilogy like a deep and not most passion.
- 49:50Speaker 2: So going through and reading this this did catch my
- 49:55Speaker 2: attention more than Aftermath did. Yeah, probably because the art
- 49:59Speaker 2: was so good, but tracking it with Aftermath because I
- 50:07Speaker 2: specifically wash it Aftermath from my brain. I had Wikipedia
- 50:11Speaker 2: up for like part of my bread and was like, Okay,
- 50:14Speaker 2: what was happening in Aftermath again? I lifed at where
- 50:17Speaker 2: are we Empires end? Like all those things. And it's
- 50:22Speaker 2: not any fault of I think Sigura. If you hadn't
- 50:26Speaker 2: read Aftermath, you'd be like, oh, that's a cool easter egg.
- 50:29Speaker 2: Maybe I'll look that up one day. But because we've
- 50:32Speaker 2: read Aftermath, we're like, wait a second, does this match
- 50:35Speaker 2: up chronologically?
- 50:46Speaker 3: But now there's another story that also lines up with
- 50:50Speaker 3: this alphabet squadron No, the very beginning of Insurgency Rising,
- 51:00Speaker 3: issue number one, the opening pages, where are they? Well
- 51:08Speaker 3: not the opening pages? Uh yeah? When when you first see, uh,
- 51:17Speaker 3: this is.
- 51:18Speaker 2: This is not Princess in the Scout? Oh you wait
- 51:20Speaker 2: a second?
- 51:21Speaker 3: Yeah, yes, yes, Princess and the Scoundrel one hundred percent.
- 51:31Speaker 2: Dude, You're right. I kind of thought about it.
- 51:37Speaker 3: Princess and the Scoundrel. My notes verbatim say, hold the
- 51:42Speaker 3: fucking phone. Why is Han leaving immediately after their wedding?
- 51:46Speaker 3: This is a continuity air?
- 51:49Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, it is.
- 51:53Speaker 3: They are saying that the Battle of Jaku happens literally
- 51:59Speaker 3: moments after their wedding, when in fact, we know that
- 52:04Speaker 3: with Princesses and the Scoundrel takes place immediately after their
- 52:08Speaker 3: wedding and they go on a cruise.
- 52:15Speaker 2: Yes, So are you just saying like battle Jack who
- 52:21Speaker 2: because that's the name of the twelve issue run?
- 52:25Speaker 3: Yeah, because this is uh what did I say? This
- 52:29Speaker 3: is insurgency Rising?
- 52:31Speaker 2: Yeah? Yeah, because again the ending issues like this takes
- 52:36Speaker 2: place over a full year basically okay, yah, just the
- 52:39Speaker 2: same pacing as Aftermath. Aftermath takes place over a full year.
- 52:43Speaker 2: The trilogy takes place over a full year.
- 52:45Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 52:46Speaker 2: So, but yeah, I see what you're saying.
- 52:51Speaker 3: And if that's the case. If that's the case, you
- 52:55Speaker 3: have alphabet scratchron, you have Princesses Scoundrel, you have have
- 53:00Speaker 3: the Aftermath trilogy, and this all stepping on each other's
- 53:04Speaker 3: toes yep, which and.
- 53:10Speaker 2: It never really mattered because Alphabet Squadron and Aftermath didn't
- 53:15Speaker 2: really feature a whole lot of Leya like there is Leya,
- 53:19Speaker 2: but Leyah primarily comes in at the end of Aftermath
- 53:24Speaker 2: and then at the end or and then she's more
- 53:28Speaker 2: of a main character really in Life, Debt and Empires that. Yeah,
- 53:32Speaker 2: not a main character, but like you know what I mean.
- 53:36Speaker 2: But yeah, having Leyah in this le and Han like
- 53:42Speaker 2: Han Han's appearances really kind of line up other than
- 53:45Speaker 2: the beginning with Aftermath. Yeah, I'm gonna have to go
- 53:49Speaker 2: back and read Princess in the Scoundrel and see if
- 53:51Speaker 2: there's any like head cannoning.
- 53:54Speaker 3: I don't think there is. I don't think there is,
- 53:57Speaker 3: because if my memory serves me right, they have their
- 54:03Speaker 3: bachelor bachelorette parties, they have the wedding, and then immediately
- 54:09Speaker 3: after the wedding, they're like, Okay, we're off to go
- 54:10Speaker 3: to war. Still, we need to clean up the galaxy.
- 54:13Speaker 3: And then that's when they're like, oh hold on, no
- 54:15Speaker 3: no no, no, no no, no, you guys need to
- 54:17Speaker 3: take it easy and they go on the cruise.
- 54:22Speaker 2: Yeah, because the whole point of that book was like
- 54:28Speaker 2: the Halcyon plug. But then also because they did.
- 54:34Speaker 3: Have they did have a moment in uh Insurgency Rising
- 54:39Speaker 3: where Leah went to Darth Vader's mask just like she
- 54:43Speaker 3: did in Princess and the Scoundrel. So I was like, okay,
- 54:47Speaker 3: things are starting like these things are still looking okay.
- 54:51Speaker 3: But that was before the wedding, not after, yep, and
- 54:59Speaker 3: so like it it. It all just didn't make a
- 55:02Speaker 3: whole lot of sense to me right there, and so
- 55:04Speaker 3: that was like strike one for me reading the rest
- 55:10Speaker 3: of the book again, I like the art. I like
- 55:13Speaker 3: seeing Yeager. I'm a big fan of Yeger from uh,
- 55:21Speaker 3: what's the show was?
- 55:22Speaker 2: Resistance?
- 55:23Speaker 3: Resistance? Yes? And then seeing and you can help me
- 55:29Speaker 3: with this? A damn arn? Is is that any relationships?
- 55:34Speaker 2: Correct? So that's Poe's father. We're sorry, guys. The more
- 55:46Speaker 2: I talk, the more it hurts, and the more I cough. Therefore,
- 55:54Speaker 2: so that is Poe's father. I don't know if his
- 55:58Speaker 2: mom is still alive at this point, because I haven't
- 56:02Speaker 2: finished Charles Soul's run of Star Wars.
- 56:06Speaker 3: Okay, so I know she's allowed.
- 56:10Speaker 2: At the beginning of that, I feel like so yeah,
- 56:15Speaker 2: but Poe is alive at this point, and there's probably
- 56:21Speaker 2: more Poe Damn Roon references than you would get, really,
- 56:25Speaker 2: because Alex Sigura wrote Poe Damn Roon free Fall, and
- 56:29Speaker 2: there are several references that book in there, which is
- 56:33Speaker 2: also why you see uh Ziva Bliss in this is
- 56:38Speaker 2: because the Blisses, the Spice writerership Kaujimi make an appearance
- 56:43Speaker 2: in that, because that's like the tie in to know, well, Poe,
- 56:47Speaker 2: how do you know Zori? Yeah, so, so there's a
- 56:53Speaker 2: lot of references to his novel in here, which I
- 56:56Speaker 2: don't mind. They're they're not like overly conscious about anything.
- 57:02Speaker 3: So okay, So let's immediately talk about the main conflict,
- 57:13Speaker 3: which is this dude named at Heart Adele Heart. How'd
- 57:22Speaker 3: you feel about him being an antagonist, the guy that,
- 57:29Speaker 3: for alltons and purposes here is trying to take the
- 57:35Speaker 3: role of the Emperor in some capacity, goes immediately downhill
- 57:42Speaker 3: and then literally chooses chaos at the very end of this, Like,
- 57:47Speaker 3: how did you feel about his entire characterization?
- 57:53Speaker 2: I definitely thought he was a super dumbass, because, like
- 58:03Speaker 2: you can see, like in the Accolades of the Beyond
- 58:07Speaker 2: are in here as well, and they're playing a key
- 58:08Speaker 2: role in Operation Center and all these things that the
- 58:11Speaker 2: Emperor has kind of set into motion with his death,
- 58:17Speaker 2: and so he's really just kind of losing his brain
- 58:19Speaker 2: a little bit here with everything that's going on. He's like,
- 58:24Speaker 2: I am burdened with glorious purpose.
- 58:27Speaker 3: I was gonna say this dude, this dude literally thinks
- 58:29Speaker 3: he's the main character.
- 58:31Speaker 2: Yeah, he's like Vader came to me when I got
- 58:35Speaker 2: my promotion to governor and said, we have great things
- 58:39Speaker 2: planned for you, but like not really, because you were
- 58:42Speaker 2: shoved in this dark little hole sector in the galaxy
- 58:47Speaker 2: like hoping you would never come out again.
- 58:49Speaker 3: It's the manipulation of the Empire. That's how they got
- 58:53Speaker 3: people to do exactly what they wanted to do. I'm sorry,
- 58:56Speaker 3: it is, that's all it is.
- 59:01Speaker 2: He's superbly interesting, I would think though, because of what
- 59:09Speaker 2: he knows about the Empire. But he's on like the
- 59:13Speaker 2: same playing field as the Lothal governor. What's her name
- 59:20Speaker 2: from Throng? Oh? Yes, yeah, because I hated her guts
- 59:27Speaker 2: and I hate Adelhart basically just as much because they're
- 59:30Speaker 2: both dumb as crap and they think they're destined for greatness.
- 59:36Speaker 2: But I love I do love how Adelhart just basically
- 59:39Speaker 2: chooses to go straight chaos at the end, like fuck all, y'all,
- 59:44Speaker 2: I'm just gonna burn.
- 59:44Speaker 3: It all down, like he when he gets every like
- 59:49Speaker 3: his like right hand is like, do we go down?
- 59:52Speaker 3: He's like, no, you will go when I say you go,
- 59:54Speaker 3: not a moment sooner, not a moment later. And then
- 59:58Speaker 3: like like three pages he's like, Okay, kill everyone, empire,
- 1:00:04Speaker 3: rebellion everyone, And I'm like, oh God, and it's it's insanity. Honestly, Yeah, he's.
- 1:00:18Speaker 2: He seems like he could be super smart in some
- 1:00:25Speaker 2: of the things that he does, but he also had
- 1:00:28Speaker 2: an imperial spy, or not an imperial spy, a rebellion
- 1:00:33Speaker 2: spy in his midst. For goodness knows how long he
- 1:00:38Speaker 2: got super jipped by Raina Osciar, who, by the way,
- 1:00:44Speaker 2: is the first Anzioti from Legends to make an appearance
- 1:00:48Speaker 2: in canon. The Anxiati were a legend species, and to
- 1:00:53Speaker 2: Go brought them in for the first time. Up. Tashu
- 1:00:59Speaker 2: was one of the people from Aftermath. He dies at
- 1:01:04Speaker 2: the end of Aftermath spoiler alert. Maybe we already talked
- 1:01:08Speaker 2: about that, But like going back to adel Hard. Adelhard,
- 1:01:14Speaker 2: He's like, oh, I am the heir to the throne
- 1:01:17Speaker 2: of the empire, and everybody else is like, no, you're
- 1:01:21Speaker 2: the pawn who's going to let everything else happen, basically
- 1:01:25Speaker 2: because I can manipulate you. And he's like, I don't
- 1:01:28Speaker 2: trust you, Oscar, but at the same time, like, I'm
- 1:01:31Speaker 2: fully gonna make out with you, Like, dude, you're not smart.
- 1:01:35Speaker 3: What's yeah, Like, I was very confused as to like
- 1:01:40Speaker 3: what made him think that he literally had all of
- 1:01:45Speaker 3: the cards in the deck, because you clearly saw everybody
- 1:01:51Speaker 3: else making these moves, and you just think, oh, because
- 1:01:56Speaker 3: that one time Darth Vader said I'm special. I can
- 1:02:00Speaker 3: just say things and people will follow me.
- 1:02:02Speaker 2: Yep, Like it's wild nobody, And this is what I've
- 1:02:07Speaker 2: like told like, this is the difference between like this
- 1:02:11Speaker 2: case and like Lane Kiffin, for instance, because Lane Kiffin
- 1:02:14Speaker 2: is like the popularity popular topic in college football right now.
- 1:02:19Speaker 2: People know what you said in the room, dude, and
- 1:02:21Speaker 2: everybody has social media because you met with one hundred
- 1:02:24Speaker 2: and fifteen people to talk about you leaving to go
- 1:02:28Speaker 2: to LSU. In this case, Adlehart only met with Vader.
- 1:02:32Speaker 2: Nobody else freaking cares because nobody else was there to
- 1:02:35Speaker 2: witness what Vader told you. Dude, Yeah, you are dumb.
- 1:02:41Speaker 3: Like I do. Like one thing that I was kind
- 1:02:44Speaker 3: of pissed off about him, and I wish they explored
- 1:02:47Speaker 3: a little bit more. And I think it's more so
- 1:02:50Speaker 3: just because of his psyche, but like he's like the
- 1:02:54Speaker 3: Force is a joke. It's on magic and gimmicks, and
- 1:02:58Speaker 3: then he like witnesses it for firsthand from Luke and
- 1:03:01Speaker 3: he's like, huh, maybe this dark side is like a
- 1:03:05Speaker 3: good thing to be on my side. And then like
- 1:03:08Speaker 3: he never does anything with it, you know, like there's
- 1:03:13Speaker 3: there's a little bit of teasing of like, oh, yes,
- 1:03:16Speaker 3: you're you're what does he call her, Oh you dark witch?
- 1:03:20Speaker 3: Like yes, like your dark side will aid me in
- 1:03:23Speaker 3: my up and comings, but like for now, blah blah blah,
- 1:03:28Speaker 3: and he never pursues anything with it.
- 1:03:30Speaker 2: Yeah, And that's what like I really didn't understand in
- 1:03:35Speaker 2: like the grand scheme of things, is like he feels
- 1:03:38Speaker 2: like he could be this super cool character and maybe
- 1:03:42Speaker 2: Sugora was just kind of given him and gone because
- 1:03:45Speaker 2: Adelhard was introduced in a video game in twenty sixteen
- 1:03:50Speaker 2: and then has kind of been used in this general
- 1:03:52Speaker 2: area twenty.
- 1:03:54Speaker 3: Sixteen, So I'm guessing that is Starfighter Star Wars Uprising, Oh, Uprising, Okay.
- 1:04:03Speaker 2: Yeah it is. It was a mobile game, yeah, with
- 1:04:08Speaker 2: a full release on September tenth, twenty fifteen. It was
- 1:04:13Speaker 2: taken offline November seventeenth, twenty sixteen.
- 1:04:17Speaker 3: Yep.
- 1:04:18Speaker 2: So, but they kind of expanded on his character throughout,
- 1:04:24Speaker 2: like this area of the timeline between Aftermath, Alphabet Squadron,
- 1:04:30Speaker 2: all those things. So maybe he was given this and
- 1:04:33Speaker 2: been like, Okay, you're gonna tell adele Hard's story in this,
- 1:04:36Speaker 2: but I want you to also tell everybody else's story
- 1:04:38Speaker 2: at the same time. Yeah, I was trying to look
- 1:04:44Speaker 2: for something that because he's definitely like big here, like
- 1:04:52Speaker 2: he is I would say the main character of this story.
- 1:04:54Speaker 2: Would you agree? Disagree?
- 1:04:56Speaker 3: Oh yeah, I I one hundred percent degree I do that.
- 1:05:00Speaker 2: We get Race Loan, by the way, we haven't really
- 1:05:02Speaker 2: talked about her all that much, but I love Race.
- 1:05:04Speaker 3: Loan, and she also is like a very minor character here,
- 1:05:10Speaker 3: like she you see her just like pop in every
- 1:05:13Speaker 3: so once in a while to kind of move the
- 1:05:15Speaker 3: agenda towards what I assume will be the twenty twenty
- 1:05:20Speaker 3: five volume of Star Wars.
- 1:05:26Speaker 2: I don't think so, because she disappears at the end
- 1:05:29Speaker 2: of Aftermath and so like that they go off into
- 1:05:33Speaker 2: the Unknown Galaxy, So I don't think she'll make an
- 1:05:37Speaker 2: appearance there. I haven't looked, because obviously we're going to
- 1:05:41Speaker 2: be reviewing that in the eventual spirit. Yeah, so, but
- 1:05:50Speaker 2: I love like Sigoura really does tell like a very
- 1:05:55Speaker 2: tight story and he adds a lot of details. But
- 1:05:59Speaker 2: I do wish that maybe he got like five issues
- 1:06:03Speaker 2: per like mini run.
- 1:06:07Speaker 3: Yeah. I think this needed to have at least one
- 1:06:10Speaker 3: or two more to kind of flesh things out a
- 1:06:13Speaker 3: little bit, because again, the dark side stuff I think
- 1:06:17Speaker 3: he like would have been really fun to kind of
- 1:06:20Speaker 3: mess with. Also, the the clear like espionage spy stuff
- 1:06:28Speaker 3: that is like in the Man Mathma Lea story in
- 1:06:32Speaker 3: here is something that I also wanted to kind of
- 1:06:36Speaker 3: still pick up a little bit. And then like again,
- 1:06:40Speaker 3: you you reintroduce a very famous comic book character being
- 1:06:45Speaker 3: Doctor Afra, and then nothing.
- 1:06:48Speaker 2: I love it, and I think it was to help
- 1:06:53Speaker 2: kind of speed the way for the Doctor Afra series
- 1:06:56Speaker 2: that came after a little bit, because we're gonna talk
- 1:07:02Speaker 2: about that one too. But yes, she doesn't really make
- 1:07:05Speaker 2: a huge appearance here. She's just kind of helping redirect
- 1:07:08Speaker 2: the story, like hey, Luke, you're getting distracted, like you
- 1:07:12Speaker 2: need to focus. In that same regard, though, I did
- 1:07:15Speaker 2: want to talk about this character, this acolyte of the Beyond, okay,
- 1:07:24Speaker 2: whose name is Housel, this very clear redhead who who
- 1:07:34Speaker 2: also because I missed the page apparently where I had
- 1:07:40Speaker 2: the note, who also has green eyes like mar.
- 1:07:44Speaker 3: Jade, like this exactly where this was going, Like that's.
- 1:07:53Speaker 2: One hundred percent on purpose. Let's be real, y'all. Let's
- 1:07:58Speaker 2: be real on purpose by some artist or even Cigura's
- 1:08:05Speaker 2: fault in the grand scheme of things, like I just
- 1:08:11Speaker 2: had to bring it up.
- 1:08:12Speaker 3: Okay, I'm I'm wondering if anybody else has had that
- 1:08:19Speaker 3: temp of oil hat of like, oh, this is a
- 1:08:22Speaker 3: pseudo yme, She's really Mara a Jade.
- 1:08:26Speaker 2: You know, I think I don't know in like that regard.
- 1:08:30Speaker 2: I think it's probably just like a haha, like I'm
- 1:08:34Speaker 2: gonna laugh at.
- 1:08:34Speaker 3: All you like a little tongue in cheek. So uh,
- 1:08:37Speaker 3: speaking of in the fourth issue.
- 1:08:44Speaker 2: Okay, here is this one. Sorry, I did have it
- 1:08:48Speaker 2: oh yes, in my note, she's got a green eyes too.
- 1:08:52Speaker 3: Like I believe it's issue four of it's started to
- 1:08:59Speaker 3: see and Luke is fighting this inquisitor impostor who we
- 1:09:12Speaker 3: later find out is right now. Yes, now, so she's
- 1:09:22Speaker 3: not an inquisitor. She has a blade from an inquisitor, yes,
- 1:09:27Speaker 3: and so my question is where'd she gets the blade?
- 1:09:33Speaker 3: And he even says, oh, anybody can wield a blade, right,
- 1:09:38Speaker 3: because of course she wasn't using any force powers and
- 1:09:43Speaker 3: we know that she is a part of like this
- 1:09:44Speaker 3: grander cult that just follows the Emperor's every whim.
- 1:09:51Speaker 2: The ag Yeah. So to me, she's working with up Tashuo,
- 1:09:56Speaker 2: which means up Tashu, being the Imperial Advisor, probably had
- 1:10:00Speaker 2: access to the Inquisitor blades and stuff. I did think
- 1:10:08Speaker 2: that originally Luke had gotten his hands on an inquisitor
- 1:10:11Speaker 2: blade and so he was sneaking in. But like obviously
- 1:10:16Speaker 2: we see Luke come out, but I was like, dude,
- 1:10:19Speaker 2: what is going on? Because it is because of how
- 1:10:22Speaker 2: much Sigoura has to tackle, it does kind of feel disconnected.
- 1:10:25Speaker 2: Where he tells Lea, oh, I'm gonna go find our people. Yeah,
- 1:10:28Speaker 2: but then also like yeah.
- 1:10:44Speaker 3: Do you have anything else in regards to the Battle
- 1:10:46Speaker 3: of jack Who, Because I'm what, I'm like, everything that
- 1:10:50Speaker 3: I'm thinking of we kind of already tackled.
- 1:10:54Speaker 2: Uh. We do get Lando's Lady Luck.
- 1:10:57Speaker 3: Yes, design.
- 1:11:01Speaker 2: I it's supposed to be a very luxurious yacht, and
- 1:11:05Speaker 2: I do love the design, but it is definitely different
- 1:11:10Speaker 2: compared to most of the ships that we've seen.
- 1:11:15Speaker 3: But of course Orlando has to be different, you.
- 1:11:17Speaker 2: Know, He's got to be different. He definitely has to.
- 1:11:22Speaker 2: I love this panel in particular with le or this
- 1:11:26Speaker 2: page with Lea and my Mathma. This is just like
- 1:11:31Speaker 2: a very politically moving segment where because my Mathmas like
- 1:11:37Speaker 2: governance rarely holds the same idealistic wonder as revolution. And
- 1:11:43Speaker 2: that's true, like in a grand scheme of things, that's
- 1:11:45Speaker 2: absolutely true. But also it shouldn't have to be that different.
- 1:11:52Speaker 3: Yeah, I really, I really wanted to again, like I
- 1:11:56Speaker 3: wanted to explore more of mon Mathma's as well as
- 1:12:01Speaker 3: Leo's story, because I think it was twice in this
- 1:12:06Speaker 3: entire series that they survived assassination temps, and I like,
- 1:12:14Speaker 3: h I don't think we get enough of the espionage
- 1:12:17Speaker 3: stuff when it comes to comics, it's all it's all
- 1:12:21Speaker 3: the star star fighting and the ground battles, but none
- 1:12:26Speaker 3: of like the secret mission stuff.
- 1:12:29Speaker 2: Yeah, because in this like you're getting a lot of
- 1:12:32Speaker 2: like the political machinations, but you definitely also get more
- 1:12:36Speaker 2: of that. I feel like in Aftermath, just because of
- 1:12:40Speaker 2: everything that's going on, I did really Sorry. I'm flipping
- 1:12:45Speaker 2: through and taking out my notes trying to see if
- 1:12:47Speaker 2: there's anything else that I had. This this panel of
- 1:12:51Speaker 2: Afra is just super gorgeous, Like.
- 1:12:54Speaker 3: Yeah, I like that page splash it.
- 1:12:56Speaker 2: It's gorgeous because obviously we both feel like crap and
- 1:13:02Speaker 2: we needed to move them on. Oh. I did like
- 1:13:04Speaker 2: this reference. It's it's where doctor Afra is still in.
- 1:13:09Speaker 2: I think this is issue to uh yeah, Republic undersiege too,
- 1:13:15Speaker 2: And it's kind of the big one where Rax is
- 1:13:19Speaker 2: telling uh Rand and Sloan like, hey, like get your
- 1:13:24Speaker 2: crap together, and he's talking about like the future of
- 1:13:29Speaker 2: the Battle of Jack WHU And he's like the Battle
- 1:13:32Speaker 2: of Jack who will bury the past and open the
- 1:13:34Speaker 2: door to a future beyond anything the Empire has ever envisioned.
- 1:13:38Speaker 2: And my note on there was let the past die,
- 1:13:41Speaker 2: kill it if you have to, Yes, I just like
- 1:13:45Speaker 2: how authors have chosen to like kind of grasp that
- 1:13:49Speaker 2: and like grasp certain comments of the sequel children and
- 1:13:51Speaker 2: could just go, yeah, we're just gonna rope it. Basically. Yeah,
- 1:14:00Speaker 2: this was another good splash page with all the characters
- 1:14:03Speaker 2: on them.
- 1:14:04Speaker 3: I really love the art right there.
- 1:14:07Speaker 2: Yeah, like having Adle Harraina the bounty hunter. Like, there's
- 1:14:12Speaker 2: just something about this Luke draw right here, Like it
- 1:14:18Speaker 2: looks like Hamil but it doesn't. And like that gives
- 1:14:22Speaker 2: me goosebumps because so often you, like previously you've seen
- 1:14:26Speaker 2: in comics, hey we want to stick to what the
- 1:14:28Speaker 2: actor looks like. Yeah, I love how they branched out
- 1:14:31Speaker 2: and we're like, hey, you know what, like let's make
- 1:14:33Speaker 2: him look different.
- 1:14:34Speaker 3: But like, yeah, I like the idea of like, hey,
- 1:14:37Speaker 3: you need to draw Luke Skywalker, not Mark Hamill.
- 1:14:40Speaker 2: You know.
- 1:14:41Speaker 3: Yeah for sure.
- 1:14:47Speaker 2: That was in the same vein of that comment. What
- 1:14:50Speaker 2: was this one? Okay, I can figure that one out.
- 1:14:54Speaker 2: I have three more. Okay.
- 1:15:01Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:15:02Speaker 2: So in the assassination attempt on Chandrilla, where Lea is
- 1:15:06Speaker 2: super pregnant, she's talking about how Sloan's visit, like their
- 1:15:13Speaker 2: appearance so soon after chaos wrought by Sloan's visit. Sloane's
- 1:15:17Speaker 2: visit was Aftermath Life Debt, so it makes sense kind
- 1:15:21Speaker 2: of the area that we've time traveled.
- 1:15:23Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:15:24Speaker 2: Here, yeah, here, here's a comment on this page where
- 1:15:30Speaker 2: Raina reveals that she's betraying him, and it says, dude,
- 1:15:33Speaker 2: you're a freaking idiot. Okay, that's it. That's all I had.
- 1:15:40Speaker 3: Yeah, Like the fact that he like was just so
- 1:15:45Speaker 3: like encumbered by power, Like he's like, oh, I can
- 1:15:50Speaker 3: have my woman, I can have my power, I can
- 1:15:52Speaker 3: have my fleet, I can have my entire sector of space. Wait.
- 1:16:00Speaker 3: I started to like him, and then he lost to
- 1:16:05Speaker 3: Luke Skywalker the very first time, and I'm like, dude,
- 1:16:10Speaker 3: you're you're a joke.
- 1:16:12Speaker 2: Like, and.
- 1:16:15Speaker 3: I wonder if that is like a good part of
- 1:16:19Speaker 3: writing when it comes to Star Wars or a bad
- 1:16:21Speaker 3: part of writing when it comes to Star Wars, because like,
- 1:16:24Speaker 3: you want a challenging antagonist, but like knowing somebody is
- 1:16:29Speaker 3: so dumb and it challenges our heroes, It's like that's
- 1:16:34Speaker 3: a little frustrating. Yeah, And like overall, that's kind of
- 1:16:38Speaker 3: how or why my rating of this book is a
- 1:16:42Speaker 3: little flat. If he was a little bit more of
- 1:16:47Speaker 3: a threat, like a legitimate threat. I feel like, like,
- 1:16:53Speaker 3: and again, the characters, like everybody in this book sees
- 1:16:56Speaker 3: him as a threat, and that's not the problem. But
- 1:16:59Speaker 3: when us the audience that are reading this, it's like, dude,
- 1:17:02Speaker 3: you're kind of a joke, Like I know you're gonna
- 1:17:05Speaker 3: lose at the end of this, Like that is not
- 1:17:08Speaker 3: where I want to be headspace wise while I'm reading
- 1:17:11Speaker 3: the book.
- 1:17:12Speaker 2: But I do think it's also to kind of showcase
- 1:17:17Speaker 2: because Adulhart is mentioned so frequently in Aftermath and Alphabet Squadron.
- 1:17:23Speaker 2: I think this is kind of meant to just give
- 1:17:25Speaker 2: you that area of his story, because you know that
- 1:17:29Speaker 2: there's other things going around going on if you've read
- 1:17:32Speaker 2: those books. But then this kind of gives you at
- 1:17:36Speaker 2: all Heart's story, but then gives you those hints to
- 1:17:38Speaker 2: the other stories that are going on.
- 1:17:41Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:17:42Speaker 2: I did. Also, I caught this one, this cover right
- 1:17:46Speaker 2: here for Last and two, where everybody looks like the
- 1:17:51Speaker 2: actors like this is basically pulled straight out of Return
- 1:17:54Speaker 2: of the Jedi. I like how that's done to kind
- 1:17:57Speaker 2: of tie it back into the actors, Like.
- 1:18:01Speaker 3: Hey, well yeah, Like I will say, every single cover
- 1:18:05Speaker 3: for this entire series, I think looks amazing. I love it.
- 1:18:10Speaker 3: Like the one that we chose for our Thumbdale is
- 1:18:14Speaker 3: quite possibly one of my favorites. I absolutely love it.
- 1:18:18Speaker 3: The contrast between the background, the orange background and like
- 1:18:23Speaker 3: Luke's green lightsaber. It's a contradictsies each other so much.
- 1:18:26Speaker 3: You're like, uh, that doesn't really look good, but for
- 1:18:29Speaker 3: some reason it looks so good.
- 1:18:32Speaker 2: Yeah, I completely agree. I guess the last question that
- 1:18:35Speaker 2: I really have for you. So we have rin Zinnat
- 1:18:40Speaker 2: introduced in the opening pages of Insurgency Rising, and she
- 1:18:44Speaker 2: is basically like a main character through the rest of
- 1:18:46Speaker 2: the book, an original character as far as I can tell.
- 1:18:50Speaker 2: What did you think of her throughout this She's really
- 1:18:53Speaker 2: partnered with Luke.
- 1:18:54Speaker 3: A lot.
- 1:18:57Speaker 2: And kind of is It's a focal point to showcase
- 1:19:01Speaker 2: his Jedi side because she's got like rage.
- 1:19:05Speaker 3: Like not only his Jedi side, but like almost also
- 1:19:09Speaker 3: his like inability to like as of right now, because
- 1:19:14Speaker 3: he's so early on in his mastered like Jedi like
- 1:19:20Speaker 3: form as an individual, how unrelatable he is to every
- 1:19:26Speaker 3: single person that he interacts with, Like he has this
- 1:19:30Speaker 3: hero complex, which is a downfall of Luke Skywalker. We've
- 1:19:35Speaker 3: seen it before this the entire like reason why the
- 1:19:38Speaker 3: Last Jedi is the way that it is, but like
- 1:19:42Speaker 3: she kind of brings him down to Earth, which I
- 1:19:45Speaker 3: really really enjoyed. Now. It was teased in Insurgency Rising
- 1:19:52Speaker 3: that she was a Spice Runner, but not confirmed. It
- 1:19:57Speaker 3: was teased and then at the very end, I.
- 1:20:03Speaker 2: Don't necessarily know how I feel about the whole spice
- 1:20:06Speaker 2: runner thing, just because I feel like that's like a
- 1:20:09Speaker 2: crutch that Star Wars people have been using, Like why
- 1:20:12Speaker 2: couldn't she have just been a smuggler per se.
- 1:20:16Speaker 3: I think it was a little bit of a crutch
- 1:20:19Speaker 3: just because we were dealing with other Spice runners, you know,
- 1:20:24Speaker 3: but in the same vein, Like I do think that
- 1:20:27Speaker 3: smugglers and spice runners run in the same circles, so
- 1:20:30Speaker 3: she could have been either. But when it comes to
- 1:20:35Speaker 3: light that she is one, it's this like hey, and
- 1:20:42Speaker 3: like talking to Luke, it's like, hey, we're still people,
- 1:20:46Speaker 3: We're still human, you know, we're still fighting the good
- 1:20:49Speaker 3: fight type of thing, and he has this aha moment
- 1:20:54Speaker 3: of like, oh, yeah, I guess anybody could help us,
- 1:20:58Speaker 3: which again is a little bit of a knock on
- 1:21:02Speaker 3: the Luke Skywalker characterization, but these heroes need to learn
- 1:21:07Speaker 3: lessons like for us to be relatable to them.
- 1:21:10Speaker 2: Yeah, and it's definitely like it's an attempt to humanize him, right,
- 1:21:16Speaker 2: because he does have like elements of rage in this
- 1:21:20Speaker 2: where he's like, well, we've got I need to go
- 1:21:23Speaker 2: take Adlehart out because he's just killing all of my
- 1:21:25Speaker 2: friends basically, and it's humanizing him and it's getting us to, hey,
- 1:21:33Speaker 2: he's not infallible, and that's what the Last Jedi was
- 1:21:35Speaker 2: trying to show us. But that's also where everybody else
- 1:21:38Speaker 2: has to tie in, because we came out of Return
- 1:21:41Speaker 2: of the Jedi and everybody's like, oh, Luke Skywalker the
- 1:21:44Speaker 2: shining hero among us. But heroes aren't infallible. And so
- 1:21:48Speaker 2: that's what I feel like every and it may be unfortunate,
- 1:21:53Speaker 2: but I feel like that's what every Luke Skywalker story
- 1:21:57Speaker 2: has to have entangled with it now, is we have
- 1:22:02Speaker 2: to show he's infallible or he's not infallible.
- 1:22:05Speaker 3: Excuse me, Yeah, I one hundred percent agree.
- 1:22:12Speaker 2: We have cleaned up the notes, I've gotten all the
- 1:22:14Speaker 2: ugly post its out of the book.
- 1:22:19Speaker 3: But with that, guys, that is our review. I apologize
- 1:22:22Speaker 3: that we have been kind of off this episode. We
- 1:22:25Speaker 3: have both been muting this entire time, coughing our brains out.

- 1:22:43Speaker 3: I apologize for no Ranger Alliance for two weeks because
- 1:22:47Speaker 3: I have been sick and so has Jake, and we
- 1:22:51Speaker 3: were supposed to record on Monday night and then we
- 1:22:54Speaker 3: both forgot, and then we were talking about doing it yesterday.
- 1:22:58Speaker 3: But I'm still like feeling like crap. So We're gonna
- 1:23:01Speaker 3: try and do three episodes all in one this upcoming weekend,
- 1:23:05Speaker 3: so be on the lookout for that.
- 1:23:06Speaker 2: Don't you kill yourself recording.

- 1:23:39Speaker 2: coming up, we're gonna we're gonna have a lot of questions.
- 1:23:43Speaker 2: So Clay is pumping up, but he's like passing out
- 1:23:49Speaker 2: in his chair with his bill out behind him. So yeah,
