Luna: Okay, il tavolo is table, la sedia is chair, il letto is bed, l'armadio is wardrobe, la libreria is bookshelf. Lucas: Exactly! Now let's put them in context. Imagine you're in a bedroom. I'll ask: Dov'è il letto? Luna: Dov'è il letto? That means 'Where is the bed?' Right? Lucas: Right! And you could answer: Il letto è in camera da letto. The bed is in the bedroom. Luna: Il letto è in camera da letto. That's easy because camera da letto is bedroom. Lucas: Now try: Dov'è la libreria? Luna: Dov'è la libreria? Umm, La libreria è nel soggiorno? The bookshelf is in the living room? Lucas: Yes! Nel soggiorno — in the living room. Great job. Luna: So we can talk about where things are. Let me try: Dov'è il tavolo? Il tavolo è in cucina. Lucas: That's it! The table is in the kitchen. And la sedia? Luna: La sedia è in cucina? Or maybe la sedia è vicino al tavolo. Lucas: Vicino al tavolo — near the table. Yes! You're using prepositions now. Luna: This is fun. So I can describe my apartment: Il letto è in camera da letto, la libreria è nel soggiorno, il tavolo e le sedie sono in cucina. Lucas: That's a whole apartment tour! Let's add l'armadio. Dov'è l'armadio? Luna: L'armadio è in camera da letto, vicino al letto. Lucas: Perfect.
