- 0:02Happy Monday morning, everybody. It is still beautiful in St.
- 0:08Louis, MO Monday morning, 58°. And they're saying that at the
- 0:14end of this week, we're gonna be back to summertime temperatures
- 0:17in the 90s. It's what do we call that?
- 0:20Hey, respond right here in Indian summer.
- 0:25Is that what that's called when you think it's winter time, but
- 0:28then all of a sudden you're in November like it's September,
- 0:32October, October gets a little rainy, then it gets to be in the
- 0:3680s in November. What's that called?
- 0:38Indian summer? I don't know.
- 0:41I think so, though. OK, today's subject matter.
- 0:47Why is the NASCAR weekend in Saint Louis?
- 0:52Why is it so good? Respond right here.
- 0:58OK, now listen, I'm going, here we go again.
- 1:02I'm going to de bullshit all this.
- 1:05You all know that I was there. I was there.
- 1:11Did you see those grandstands? 60,000 people?
- 1:17Bill Murray. Bill Murray was there.
- 1:20I'm laughing because Bubba Wallace said one of the drivers
- 1:25did not know. Hold on, where there he is.
- 1:27There's a legend, Louis the legend, out roaming the
- 1:30property. Bubba Wallace said that one of
- 1:34the drivers did not know who Bill Murray was.
- 1:37Bill Murray from the original Saturday Night Live cast,
- 1:42Caddyshack, so many great movies.
- 1:45He was there. Brother Rusty was there.
- 1:48The vibe at Worldwide Technology Raceway was through the roof.
- 1:54People, all the media in in a NASCAR like Jeff Gluck and Bob
- 1:59Pop Grass and everybody that follows the sport, they're
- 2:03saying no other track does. It has the entertainment behind
- 2:10the grandstands like Saint Louis does.
- 2:15All right, I'm going to give you my opinion on why NASCAR is so
- 2:19big. Why is it popular?
- 2:21Why is it good? Because the narrative that some
- 2:25of you older people are trying to sell me, NASCAR's no good.
- 2:29It's failing. I'm going to tell you what, it
- 2:33ain't true. Everybody get up, get off your
- 2:37couch, get out there. Saint Louis, and not just Saint
- 2:42Louis, but Darlington last week, the races before that, NASCAR on
- 2:47a high. NASCAR's on a high.
- 2:50They're rolling right now. All right.
- 2:53Worldwide Technology Raceway. Why is it so good?
- 2:56Well, behind the grandstands, the midway is off the charts.
- 3:04There is so much to do. The entertainment is.
- 3:07I mean, some of the people are coming to the racetrack like the
- 3:10good old days. Well, Kenny Wallace live, yours
- 3:15truly, man, we put on one hell of a show.
- 3:19It was a one hour show and it was off the charts.
- 3:23See, Saint Louis is about sports.
- 3:25It's about the Saint Louis Blues, Saint Louis Cardinals,
- 3:29City STL soccer. For everything you've heard
- 3:33about Saint Louis, most of it's true.
- 3:36We are crazy, but it's, it's a it's a sports city.
- 3:41So when we started the show, we have the towel man, the towel
- 3:44man that he's the guy that when the when the Blues score a goal,
- 3:50you know, the camera, the lights, they go to him and, and
- 3:52the fans get jacked up. So we had him start the show.
- 3:56We started off with kick ass music.
- 3:59Then we had the great drivers man Chris Blair, the general
- 4:02manager at Worldwide technology. Listen to this.
- 4:06He had Chase Briscoe, last week's winner at Darlington.
- 4:10He had Ross Chastain, Hail Melon.
- 4:14He's the guy that, you know, did the slide job at 1 Charlotte,
- 4:20the Coke 600. Then he's also the guy that ran
- 4:24it wide open through turns 3 and 4.
- 4:27My daughters, my daughters, Brooke and Brandy.
- 4:31They sold souvenirs at Ross Chastain's souvenir trailer.
- 4:37They said, Dad, we had no ideal. Ross Chastain was so famous.
- 4:43I said, Oh yeah, They said we hurt today.
- 4:46Last night, Sunday night, they said, Dad, we sold so many
- 4:50souvenirs. So on Kenny Wallace Live, we had
- 4:55Bill Murray, Rusty Wallace, Big Brother came, Kyle Larson.
- 5:01We had a real goat with Kyle Larson, fake fire suit on the
- 5:06goat, Chase Briscoe, Ross Chastain, the towel man.
- 5:13We had it all. And I mean, the fans were
- 5:15entertained. We had music that was jacked up.
- 5:19OK, not just that, I mean, Kenny Wallace Live did kick ass.
- 5:23But the owner of the Worldwide Technology Group, that man right
- 5:28there, he knows how to help out the racetrack.
- 5:31The owner, Curtis Francois, he's the one that picked Bill Murray.
- 5:35He told me, he said I got a list of entertainers.
- 5:38My God, you can't go wrong with Bill Murray.
- 5:41But the Confluence Music Festival, my God, they had a
- 5:45little John there. They had so many musical acts.
- 5:49So like I've always said, and I'll say this to all the
- 5:52promoters out there, all the dirt track promoters, you can't
- 5:57just post on Facebook. I mean, yes, Facebook is the
- 6:01biggest bang for the buck, but you got you got to promote
- 6:06differently. Nowadays, those fans, they just
- 6:09don't want to come watch cars go in circles.
- 6:12So Saint Louis, Worldwide Technology, it's a big event,
- 6:16big music festival, race cars, they got it going on.
- 6:21And how about the pyro to start the race?
- 6:24Now the fans are used to it, the cars get ready to come take the
- 6:29green flag, the face car, the pace cars are leading them off a
- 6:32turn 2 and everybody's ready. And Oh my God, the fire, the
- 6:37boom, it's big. And the drivers are like, Oh my
- 6:40God, you can feel the heat. You see what I'm saying?
- 6:46Chris Blair, Curtis Francois Worldwide Technology, They just,
- 6:50they just set this presidents and they got great traffic flow
- 6:54too. The Illinois State Police, they
- 6:57have this legendary meeting. There must be 200 of the
- 7:03Illinois State Patrol around 8:00.
- 7:06I see him out and then Chris Blair takes his legendary
- 7:10picture shows the the the Highway Patrol getting ready and
- 7:14they're ready. The traffic flow is in and out,
- 7:18in and out. There's none of this deal where
- 7:20you sit there and you stop forever.
- 7:24So they've straightened out the traffic.
- 7:25The entertainment is off the charts.
- 7:27And then how about Denny Hamlet? And how about that race man?
- 7:32Just enough wrecks, just enough controversy.
- 7:37Kyle Larson gets in deep, thinks he's going to slide across the
- 7:41track, but accidentally gets into Ryan Blaney blank.
- 7:45Blaney's a little pissed, but he comes back as a good finish.
- 7:49Somebody gets into Turn 1, dive bombs, gets up into the 21 car
- 7:54of Josh Berry, spins him out. SVG stays out on tires.
- 7:59He gets spun out. Just enough action.
- 8:04Just enough action. What a day.
- 8:08Congratulations to my hometown. And I'm going to leave you all
- 8:12with this. No matter what you say, you do
- 8:17not matter because you weren't there.
- 8:20I was there and my timeline is filled up with how great the
- 8:25race was, how great, how great the entertainment was.
- 8:29Saint Louis does it right, and all the other tracks.
- 8:34Now this, this is, this is the precedence.
- 8:40Worldwide technology has set a precedence and all the other
- 8:44tracks are going to want to make sure they can do it like we do.
- 8:49And all the dirt racing, racing around the racetrack.
- 8:54You got Tri-City Speedway 20 minutes from the NASCAR track,
- 8:58Highland, 20 minutes away, Pevely, 30 minutes away, Kyle
- 9:04Busch was racing at Dough Run with Braxton Bush.
- 9:07That's a fourth track. So much dirt racing.
- 9:10We were racing Friday night, Saturday night, every night,
- 9:16racing, entertainment and shows and music.
- 9:23Congratulations to the team at Worldwide Technology.
- 9:27You make me proud. I got goosebumps.
- 9:30Have a great day everybody.
