- 0:00SPEAKER_01: Tonight we were supposed to have an awesome episode uh um for everyone.
- 0:05SPEAKER_00: Um and sadly So you're saying this isn't an awesome episode, Honey?
- 0:10SPEAKER_01: It's still awesome because it's me and you, boo.
- 0:13SPEAKER_01: Yes, yes.
- 0:14SPEAKER_01: But we had we really Lena worked really hard on a guest for us, and unfortunately, last minute, our guests had some extenuating circumstances and had to cancel.
- 0:23SPEAKER_01: So that episode will still be happening.
- 0:25SPEAKER_01: But Lena had prepared so well because I'm not gonna say Lena and I, because they all know she doesn't do it.
- 0:31SPEAKER_01: I don't even have a mic stand.
- 0:33SPEAKER_01: I know, but you keep losing that it looks like I'm giving an interview, right?
- 0:39SPEAKER_01: But um Lena worked really hard on this interview and the questions, and so we sadly now don't have actually anything prepared.
- 0:46SPEAKER_01: We do have a few things that we want to discuss though, right?
- 0:49SPEAKER_01: Um, that I feel are well.
- 0:51SPEAKER_01: Just random thoughts, nothing like random thoughts that we both feel really important.
- 0:55SPEAKER_01: So, like this is it's just gonna be like a kind of a different, kind of chatty, you know, video with with you folks.
- 1:01SPEAKER_01: And I'd love to hear your feedback on some of the things that we're discussing.
- 1:05SPEAKER_01: But um we specifically want to talk about um, well, I let's say not we, but I specifically want to talk about um a few of the things I've seen that give me hope still, um, because there's so much content that's being produced out there that just only highlights the death and the destruction.
- 1:26SPEAKER_01: And that's very important, don't get me wrong.
- 1:28SPEAKER_01: I think that is super important to continue showing the world that what's happening is not right.
- 1:33SPEAKER_01: Um, but in the middle of all of that, I love to see um just just videos of things that give me hope.
- 1:39SPEAKER_01: And so um I think it's important to show the world that Palestinians really do um, they love life, right?
- 1:48SPEAKER_01: And they they just want to have a normal existence like everybody else.
- 1:53SPEAKER_01: Uh today I saw a video that gave me like a little bit of hope, right?
- 1:57SPEAKER_01: Out of Gaza.
- 1:58SPEAKER_01: It was by that woman named Shiru.
- 2:00SPEAKER_01: And she said, My friend and I haven't seen each other since the beginning of the aggression, right?
- 2:03SPEAKER_01: So it's been over four months, and they really missed each other.
- 2:07SPEAKER_01: So they decided that they're gonna meet up for one hour, just get together.
- 2:11SPEAKER_01: And so she's like, I want to surprise my friend because I haven't seen her in four months.
- 2:14SPEAKER_01: So she's like, I I I wanted to buy something or get her something.
- 2:18SPEAKER_01: So she went to buy something, and the she bought like uh uh biscuit, you know, like uh the sweet biscuits, right?
- 2:25SPEAKER_01: Like the tea biscuits.
- 2:27SPEAKER_01: Okay, yeah, like the tea biscuits, and um, that's what she could find.
- 2:31SPEAKER_01: And then she got to meet up with her friend and they made Shay and they ate cookies and they just had so much fun.
- 2:37SPEAKER_01: And she's like for that hour, for that one hour, even though there's sounds of bombardment, even though all this horrible stuff is happening outside, she like got to connect with her friend for that hour and just forget about everything.
- 2:51SPEAKER_01: And all I'm thinking to myself is like, do you know how much we take that for granted?
- 2:54SPEAKER_01: That we can just do that whenever we want.
- 2:57SPEAKER_01: Yeah, we do.
- 2:58SPEAKER_01: So it made me really happy, and it also made me really sad because one, you know, you you're like, this is this is such a basic thing that people do that we do day in and day out that we totally forget about.
- 3:13SPEAKER_01: And they don't even think about it.
- 3:15SPEAKER_01: They had to really like plan to do this.
- 3:18SPEAKER_01: Um, the other part of me that made me happy was just that she got to see her friend and they got to have a good time and they got to hang out.
- 3:24SPEAKER_01: You gotta send me this video.
- 3:25SPEAKER_01: It was the sweetest thing ever.
- 3:28SPEAKER_01: And I want to see it.
- 3:30SPEAKER_01: You know, when I see stuff like this, all I keep thinking to myself after watching the video is I hope they're both alive.
- 3:35SPEAKER_00: Inshallah, inshallah.
- 3:36SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I mean, I keep both alive.
- 3:38SPEAKER_00: I posted that one video of that kid like doing uh uh what do they call it?
- 3:44SPEAKER_00: Like a box uh reveal, or what is it?
- 3:46SPEAKER_00: Well, like you know, when you reveal like the what there's a term for it, like what's in the box or whatever.
- 3:51SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah.
- 3:52SPEAKER_00: Well, there's a specific name for it, like um, yeah, it's like a reveal.
- 3:56SPEAKER_00: So he's doing a reveal with like box.
- 3:58SPEAKER_00: I think I you you didn't see, I posted it on our Instagram.
- 4:02SPEAKER_00: No, I didn't see it.
- 4:03SPEAKER_00: Okay, so it's it's this um they got this like uh box.
- 4:07SPEAKER_01: Oh my god, yes, I did see it.
- 4:09SPEAKER_01: I did see it.
- 4:11SPEAKER_01: Yes, they got they got the uh they got they got the eight box, right?
- 4:14SPEAKER_01: Yes, so he's he's five or six years old, right?
- 4:19SPEAKER_00: And he's going through the stuff, and then he gets to this part, he's like, What is this?
- 4:22SPEAKER_00: Shuhan, and then he's like this one, and then he just throws it.
- 4:27SPEAKER_01: So basically, it was it was it was like a package of maxi pads, yeah.
- 4:31SPEAKER_01: And so he's like, This is for women, yeah.
- 4:34SPEAKER_01: He's like, This is for women, and so his his face and the way like he was so cute.
- 4:39SPEAKER_01: He was so happy when he opened the box and found cheese.
- 4:42SPEAKER_00: I know cheese.
- 4:44SPEAKER_00: I know, yeah.
- 4:45SPEAKER_00: We take all this stuff for granted.
- 4:46SPEAKER_00: Inshallah, inshallah.
- 4:47SPEAKER_00: Like, I keep making dua, I keep making prayers, and inshallah that you know ceasefire is imminent, but I don't know, Hanan.
- 4:54SPEAKER_00: I've lost hope.
- 4:55SPEAKER_01: You and me both, sister.
- 4:57SPEAKER_01: You and me both.
- 4:57SPEAKER_01: Like, I don't know.
- 4:58SPEAKER_01: This is there's like no ceasefire in cease, yeah.
- 5:01SPEAKER_00: Like nothing is that like no one, they don't care, like they're they don't they just don't care, they just don't care.
- 5:06SPEAKER_00: And um Ramadan is coming up, and I'm just like, are they gonna actually continue doing this?
- 5:12SPEAKER_00: I mean, whether it's Ramadan or not, it's wrong, but like Ramadan is coming up.
- 5:16SPEAKER_00: Like, are they not I don't think they care?
- 5:20SPEAKER_00: I know they don't care.
- 5:20SPEAKER_00: Like no one's who's stopping them, who's stopping them?
- 5:23SPEAKER_00: No one's stopping them.
- 5:24SPEAKER_01: Nobody's stopping them.
- 5:25SPEAKER_01: The international community doesn't care.
- 5:28SPEAKER_01: The the the all the powers, superpowers in the world don't care.
- 5:33SPEAKER_01: Um, everybody's benefiting from this war because we all know that war equals money, it's a business.
- 5:38SPEAKER_00: I know, I know, but you know what gets me?
- 5:40SPEAKER_00: It's like the people, whether it's in this country or in Europe or all over the world, they're they're against this.
- 5:48SPEAKER_00: And it's for me, I just can't.
- 5:50SPEAKER_01: You mean like the populations?
- 5:51SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, like the like the citizens, the average, you know, person out there.
- 5:56SPEAKER_00: A lot of people are against this and they're demanding a ceasefire and they're calling for a ceasefire.
- 6:01SPEAKER_00: And like I'm I I work in news, right?
- 6:04SPEAKER_00: So I know these things are happening.
- 6:05SPEAKER_00: I know people are out there every day trying their best, right?
- 6:09SPEAKER_00: But for me, the lack, like the total disregard for the populations in whatever country you're in, it's like, oh, this is a policy.
- 6:18SPEAKER_00: We don't care what you say, we don't care what you do.
- 6:20SPEAKER_01: But I also feel like that's just the status quo, what it always has been.
- 6:24SPEAKER_01: We just never really actually, we were talking about this last time.
- 6:26SPEAKER_00: We just never actually I know, I know, but it's just like until when though, like until when, like it's so depressing.
- 6:31SPEAKER_00: Like I can't even do or think or or talk about anything besides this.
- 6:34SPEAKER_00: Like, I wake up thinking about it, I go to sleep thinking about it.
- 6:38SPEAKER_00: I mean, I don't know, man.
- 6:40SPEAKER_00: Like it's just it's demoralizing, it's depressing.
- 6:43SPEAKER_00: Like I said, like you said, we discussed this last time, and I don't want to like rehash the same stuff over and over again, but it's just still shocking to me.
- 6:51SPEAKER_00: Like, I don't know, I shouldn't be shocked.
- 6:52SPEAKER_00: I know I shouldn't be shocked, but like what's gonna what's gonna what's gonna have to happen for this to actually stop?
- 7:01SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
- 7:02SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 7:03SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 7:04SPEAKER_01: I I often think about that myself, and I'm like, I don't know, like I don't know how many more people have to die.
- 7:08SPEAKER_01: A lot of people have died.
- 7:10SPEAKER_01: Like, I I saw um I saw an infograph today that said more children are being killed on a daily basis today in Gaza than there were during the Holocaust.
- 7:20SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I mean, like I think I think we like the scale, like we said last time, and and and just I will not look.
- 7:26SPEAKER_01: I'm not I I don't even want to compare, contrast, like like we said, like it's not a no no, we're not we're not comparing, uh but it's just I don't know.
- 7:35SPEAKER_00: I no one's seen this kind of you know death and destruction, like the scale of it, like we discussed this again last time.
- 7:44SPEAKER_00: I'm just like, what has to happen for for this, like for for these world leader leaders, for these like govern governments to say, hey, okay, we should maybe listen to our people.
- 7:54SPEAKER_00: I mean, they don't give a shit.
- 7:56SPEAKER_00: I mean, it's so obvious now.
- 7:57SPEAKER_00: No, but like what what what has to happen?
- 7:59SPEAKER_00: Are they really gonna push the Palestinians?
- 8:02SPEAKER_00: I mean, is this is this the end goal?
- 8:04SPEAKER_00: Is this where we're headed?
- 8:05SPEAKER_00: Like just completely push them out.
- 8:07SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I mean, honestly, that's the that's been the goal since the beginning.
- 8:10SPEAKER_01: Like, I don't know why anybody is surprised.
- 8:12SPEAKER_01: This was communicated very, very clearly in the beginning of all of this, that this is the goal.
- 8:17SPEAKER_01: The goal is to push the Palestinians completely out of Gaza and for them to resettle it.
- 8:22SPEAKER_01: Resettle it.
- 8:24SPEAKER_00: And so we're just gonna watch and let it happen.
- 8:27SPEAKER_00: That's what it's that's what's expected of it.
- 8:29SPEAKER_01: That's that's what the governments, that's what the governments expect, that people are just gonna be like, okay, we're good.
- 8:36SPEAKER_01: I don't know, man.
- 8:38SPEAKER_01: That's just even when I see like the um the footage like out of the people in in you know uh in the refugee camps and like the makeshift refugee camp that they made because you know they didn't get any supplies, they just kind of tried to make a life, the tents that they got and whatnot, literal tents with like holes that you know that they're being run over in and then being bombarded in.
- 9:00SPEAKER_00: Those tents still get bombed, but that's what I'm saying.
- 9:02SPEAKER_01: They're being bombarded in.
- 9:03SPEAKER_01: Um, you still see people trying to just like have fun with kids, trying to keep the kids busy, trying to teach them things, trying to play with them.
- 9:12SPEAKER_01: And I'm just like when is this all?
- 9:17SPEAKER_01: When is this all part of me is like alhamdulillah that they're finding some some sliver of joy?
- 9:23SPEAKER_01: And the other part of me is like, oh my god, Ya Rabbi, when are they gonna get deliverance?
- 9:27SPEAKER_01: Like, when when is this going to end?
- 9:29SPEAKER_01: Is this gonna ever get better?
- 9:31SPEAKER_01: And because every day, yeah, every day I like I have hope and I lose it, and I have hope and then I lose it because I can't.
- 9:42SPEAKER_01: So that's one thing that I'm gonna do.
- 9:43SPEAKER_00: And we're not, yeah, and we're not even living there.
- 9:45SPEAKER_01: No, and we have these feelings.
- 9:47SPEAKER_00: Imagine living there.
- 9:48SPEAKER_01: Yeah, the other thing that I had a lot of feelings about in the last two days, especially, um, with the constant bombardment on Rafah right now, and you know, there's like there's martyrs every day, every day, every day, every hour.
- 10:00SPEAKER_01: And it's just the amount of the amount of people dying is just they're not dying, they're being murdered.
- 10:06SPEAKER_01: I keep keep reminding myself they're being murdered, they're not just dying.
- 10:09SPEAKER_01: Um it's deliberate.
- 10:11SPEAKER_01: The the the the videos and the pictures that I keep seeing of parents holding their children after they put them in the body bags.
- 10:22SPEAKER_01: Oh my god.
- 10:24SPEAKER_00: I know.
- 10:25SPEAKER_01: Honestly, I just all I'm all I'm when I see that I am horrified and I'm distraught.
- 10:34SPEAKER_01: And then a part of me is so thankful that I'm still horrified and distraught.
- 10:37SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 10:38SPEAKER_00: Does that make sense?
- 10:38SPEAKER_00: Yes, absolutely.
- 10:39SPEAKER_00: Because for me, like people say, Well, you know, I can't watch that.
- 10:43SPEAKER_01: And I'm just so terrible.
- 10:44SPEAKER_01: Like, I don't want to come off as insensitive, you know what I mean?
- 10:47SPEAKER_00: No, I don't think it's insensitive.
- 10:48SPEAKER_00: I think you're what you're trying to say is that you're you're still watching and you refuse to turn away.
- 10:53SPEAKER_01: And it's not just about refusing to turn away, like I'm a part of me is like, Alhamdulillah, Rabba that I still have a heart.
- 10:59SPEAKER_01: Of course, you're not desensitized because if you if you didn't feel this way, then you would be desensitized to it.
- 11:05SPEAKER_01: And I just I can't.
- 11:06SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna cry now, but it's just I can't.
- 11:09SPEAKER_01: I see these things, and I just I'm like, when are these people going to get the chance to just either go back to the way life was?
- 11:18SPEAKER_01: Because it's not like it was all like roses and and you know, rainbows and a walk in the park, of course, but they made the best of it, they made the best of it and they made it beautiful and they found joy in it.
- 11:29SPEAKER_01: So that's that's one other thing that I want to talk about.
- 11:32SPEAKER_01: The third thing, the thing that pisses me off so much.
- 11:37SPEAKER_01: I cannot begin to explain the rage and anger it brings inside me is the pictures of all the Israeli soldiers rummaging through Palestinian, destroyed Palestinians' home holding up private belongings of the families that used to live there, especially like women's undergarments.
- 11:59SPEAKER_00: That they're obsessed with that.
- 12:01SPEAKER_01: That they're disgusting, drives me crazy.
- 12:04SPEAKER_00: Did you see the Haarts article?
- 12:06SPEAKER_00: The liberal Israeli newspaper, they did a whole did you see that story today or yesterday?
- 12:11SPEAKER_00: They did a whole piece, like a feature on the uh uh Israeli military, like basically finding ingredients and food in Palestinian homes that they pushed people out or killed, yeah, and coming up with ways on how to make food while they're I mean, like it's just so like I I I just I don't even know how to know this is this is honestly, Lena.
- 12:37SPEAKER_01: When you when I like read that article, all I can think of was like this is literally the essence of like colonizing a people.
- 12:42SPEAKER_01: You go and you're not just stealing their land, you're stealing everything, their food, their culture, their things, their private.
- 12:48SPEAKER_00: But they made it like they made it that's beside that's obvious.
- 12:52SPEAKER_00: That's besides the point.
- 12:53SPEAKER_00: But my point is you you're you're highlighting and glorifying that these poor soldiers had to rummage through Palestinian homes, and they were still and they were still able to make amazing food and and and dishes, and they had fun eating together.
- 13:12SPEAKER_00: And I'm just like, really?
- 13:14SPEAKER_01: And like eating the food of the people they just murdered, yes, yeah, amazing, so amazing.
- 13:19SPEAKER_00: I mean, it's just it's at a whole different level, it's at a whole different level.
- 13:23SPEAKER_01: Honestly, because like I think like last episode, we spent so much time talking about like how we felt about you know what was happening and the uh, you know, just like just a series of of different things on the specific topic.
- 13:36SPEAKER_01: But for me, it's like what I and I and I'm gonna once we once we air this, I'm gonna post a poll on our Instagram because I just want to ask people like I just want to get feedback from you guys, like what are you seeing that either makes you either gives you hope or like makes you really angry or makes you really sad or makes you reflect?
- 13:55SPEAKER_01: Because I think those are important for us for people who are not living it, like the people who are there, I always say like they have they have a different level of like faith in God that I don't think we're like we're at.
- 14:09SPEAKER_01: We really I believe that my core, like I don't think we're there.
- 14:12SPEAKER_01: Um, because despite everything that they're going that they're not going through this, everything is being done to them, right?
- 14:18SPEAKER_01: They're still like steadfast and they're still holding on and they're still doing their best, and they're losing not just their things, they're losing their loved ones, their limbs, everything.
- 14:30SPEAKER_01: And you know, they're still pushing through and putting out you know, content for the rest of the world to like recognize what's happening to them.
- 14:36SPEAKER_01: Today I saw an 11-year-old girl standing there with a press vest and a helmet on.
- 14:42SPEAKER_01: Did you see that?
- 14:43SPEAKER_01: With a press vest and a helmet on.
- 14:45SPEAKER_01: What's her name?
- 14:46SPEAKER_01: We we follow her, no?
- 14:48SPEAKER_01: Giving 11 years old, giving her what's her name?
- 14:51SPEAKER_01: I can't remember her name for some reason.
- 14:53SPEAKER_01: Giving the full news report.
- 14:54SPEAKER_01: Can you imagine?
- 14:55SPEAKER_01: At 11, I was still playing with my dolls.
- 14:57SPEAKER_00: I couldn't yeah, kids, kids there are just not like kids anywhere else.
- 15:04SPEAKER_00: I mean, they they're forced to grow up.
- 15:06SPEAKER_00: Uh but as that's not that's not growing up, Lena.
- 15:09SPEAKER_01: That's not growing up.
- 15:10SPEAKER_01: That's trauma.
- 15:11SPEAKER_01: That's trauma.
- 15:11SPEAKER_01: It is trauma.
- 15:12SPEAKER_01: I mean, you're right.
- 15:13SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I should they're they're not being forced to grow up, they're being traumatized, they're being pushed into doing things that kids their age should never have to do.
- 15:20SPEAKER_00: Well, you're talking about this.
- 15:21SPEAKER_00: Did you not see the video of the the like I think he's 13 years old or 12 years old, his with his parents, his mom was killed, and his dad went to get something and never came back, so he doesn't know what happened.
- 15:32SPEAKER_00: So we can safely assume that his dad was killed.
- 15:34SPEAKER_00: He's taking care of, I don't know, five or six younger siblings.
- 15:38SPEAKER_00: Okay, there's a baby that's not even a year old.
- 15:40SPEAKER_00: I know.
- 15:41SPEAKER_00: And he's had to learn how to feed her, how to make her milk, how to uh change her, how to keep her warm, how to keep her safe.
- 15:49SPEAKER_00: And this is a 13-year-old kid.
- 15:52SPEAKER_00: Okay, and he has to say he's he's responsible for four younger younger siblings.
- 15:56SPEAKER_00: I don't remember if it's four or five younger siblings at 12 or 13 years old.
- 16:00SPEAKER_01: So there's that, and I also saw a same thing because we're when we're talking about children, a boy, probably no more than 12.
- 16:07SPEAKER_01: Probably.
- 16:08SPEAKER_01: I mean, 12, like that would be the max age.
- 16:10SPEAKER_01: He might be 10.
- 16:12SPEAKER_01: And he had set up a little stand, and he said a few people helped him.
- 16:16SPEAKER_01: He's trying to sell, like, you know, like visit and like seeds and nuts and things like that.
- 16:21SPEAKER_01: And on the side of the road, and everybody in his family died, except for one younger sibling.
- 16:28SPEAKER_01: Everybody, so that's not being forced to grow up, that's like just lifelong trauma.
- 16:32SPEAKER_01: Yeah, like like somebody forces you into a situation that you like never ever signed up for.
- 16:37SPEAKER_01: And so when I see these things, they make me so sad and so angry.
- 16:43SPEAKER_01: Basically, in short, guys, what I'm telling you is like I'm a very confused ball of emotions, and I don't even I don't even know like how I have a lot of yeah, but for me, my emotions usually there's just two.
- 17:00SPEAKER_00: It's either sadness or anger.
- 17:03SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 17:05SPEAKER_00: Um I I just you know, you you said you have hope.
- 17:10SPEAKER_00: I I have some hope, but I just I don't know.
- 17:15SPEAKER_01: It's just it kind of it kind of, you know, every day it like until when every day, like a little piece of it gets chipped away.
- 17:24SPEAKER_01: Does that make sense?
- 17:25SPEAKER_00: Yeah, but I just I don't know.
- 17:27SPEAKER_01: Every day a little piece of it gets chipped away, and I get so just disheartened, and all I keep thinking to myself is how like how how the the the the people who have the the the power and the money, i.e.
- 17:48SPEAKER_01: the governments, to do something are just standing by.
- 17:53SPEAKER_01: And then I remind myself that war is a business.
- 17:57SPEAKER_01: Everybody out there that hasn't said or done anything is directly benefiting.
- 18:04SPEAKER_00: Of course they're benefiting, but I think this needs we we have to we have to figure out.
- 18:09SPEAKER_00: I mean, this can't continue like this.
- 18:10SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
- 18:11SPEAKER_00: I don't know what's gonna happen or what people need to do for the governments to be like, but I don't think they care, they just don't care.
- 18:17SPEAKER_00: No, obviously, they just don't care.
- 18:19SPEAKER_00: It's like okay, you guys want to go protest, go protest.
- 18:21SPEAKER_00: You guys want to yell, you want to scream, you want to shout, you want to post videos, do your thing.
- 18:26SPEAKER_00: Uh uh, and you know, Arabs henna, we say uh okay, yeah, woo, yeah, woo, whatever.
- 18:33SPEAKER_00: Like, let them keep barking.
- 18:37SPEAKER_00: Like, okay, so every episode I have to mess up my Ada B and Hannah has to correct me.
- 18:42SPEAKER_00: So here we go.
- 18:43SPEAKER_00: It would not be fun otherwise.
- 18:45SPEAKER_00: I know, right?
- 18:45SPEAKER_00: So they keep they're like, let them keep barking, let them keep doing what they want to do.
- 18:50SPEAKER_00: We're gonna ignore them because this is what we've been seeing for over four months now, they just don't care.
- 18:54SPEAKER_00: Okay, but I think we're in a time where there's gonna be a breaking point.
- 19:02SPEAKER_00: You really and it's not gonna be yes, yes.
- 19:05SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
- 19:06SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
- 19:07SPEAKER_00: I don't think I don't think this is this this is sustainable.
- 19:10SPEAKER_00: I mean, like okay, fine.
- 19:12SPEAKER_00: That means we were watching a genocide and it is gonna be fully like no one's gonna know Palestinians gonna be left in Palestine, God forbid, and that's it.
- 19:20SPEAKER_00: And then they're be talking about this in history.
- 19:22SPEAKER_01: All I kept thinking, I keep thinking to myself is like every day.
- 19:26SPEAKER_01: And this is a very like, I'm gonna be very like um, what's the one I'm looking for?
- 19:31SPEAKER_01: Like very honest, okay.
- 19:33SPEAKER_00: Every day we're always honest here, yeah.
- 19:36SPEAKER_01: But honest with my feelings, and you know, just very, very transparent, right?
- 19:41SPEAKER_01: Okay, um, you guys are like gonna join my innermost thoughts here.
- 19:45SPEAKER_00: Okay, every time I wake up, you guys get ready, get a drink.
- 19:47SPEAKER_01: Every time I wake up, get a drink, exactly.
- 19:52SPEAKER_01: Every day I wake up and I'm like, I hurry up and I first thing I do is like open my Instagram and I check on all of the people that I follow.
- 19:59SPEAKER_01: Are they still alive?
- 20:00SPEAKER_01: Are they still doing okay, right?
- 20:02SPEAKER_01: And then my secondary thought is my gosh, alhamdulillah, so-and-so posted an update, they're still alive.
- 20:07SPEAKER_01: So and so posted up, they're still alive, and then I'm like, oh my god, oh my god, you haram, they're still alive, they're still alive.
- 20:13SPEAKER_01: And and I don't know if I'm like mad at myself or glad at myself for feeling that way.
- 20:18SPEAKER_01: And then the other part of me goes to check and see news feeds, like how many people died today, how many people were murdered today.
- 20:23SPEAKER_01: Um, and all I keep thinking to myself is one day I'm gonna wake up and there's gonna be like just one big dirty bomb that they're gonna and what they're gonna just kill all these people.
- 20:32SPEAKER_01: Is it gonna be like all of a sudden, like two million people are just like completely taken out, and we never hear of it and we never speak of it again?
- 20:40SPEAKER_01: And that just becomes like a place that they that they illegally settle, like they illegally settle the other places that they in that they're in.
- 20:47SPEAKER_01: And so, and then I'm like, oh my gosh, Safarallah.
- 20:49SPEAKER_01: No, no, no, no.
- 20:50SPEAKER_00: Yeah, you get lot, you go down a rabbit hole with those.
- 20:52SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and then and then I'm like, oh my god, no, no, no, no.
- 20:54SPEAKER_01: Like Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala, like Allah Qir, like God is great.
- 20:58SPEAKER_01: Um, like there's no way, there's no way God would let this level of of of evil just like prevail over us.
- 21:06SPEAKER_01: And then I'm like, oh my god, the other it's not God letting that, it's people doing that shit.
- 21:10SPEAKER_01: Yeah, but then the other the other part of me is like, oh my gosh, this is all like predestined.
- 21:15SPEAKER_01: Like Allah said, like this is gonna happen.
- 21:16SPEAKER_00: Like you really sit there thinking about all this stuff, yeah.
- 21:21SPEAKER_00: I'm just mad.
- 21:22SPEAKER_00: I'm mad and I'm angry.
- 21:23SPEAKER_01: I'm like, yeah, the God said this is gonna happen.
- 21:25SPEAKER_01: Like Allah said it's gonna happen, like you know, like like the worst of mankind is gonna let stuff like this happen.
- 21:29SPEAKER_01: And I'm like, oh my god, are we the worst of mankind?
- 21:32SPEAKER_00: Because I don't feel like I'm the worst person out there, but clearly there are other people that are like terrible, and then I'm just like the Arab the Arab regimes and the people just not just any any any country, any any government that sounds like watching this is a piece of shit to streams from my consciousness, yeah.
- 21:52SPEAKER_01: Streams from my consciousness, yeah.
- 21:54SPEAKER_01: This is literally the thought process that I go to every to go through every day, and like I know that.
- 22:00SPEAKER_01: that you know like a part of me like leans really really into like my my like my my Islamic beliefs right like what I was taught and what I know and I know that like people who are dying or murdered like like ruthlessly the way that that the people in Ghaza are being killed and then the people you know across Palestine are being killed uh because you know it's not just in Ghaza they're aggressing against people in every Palestinian town across all of Palestine right um these people are Shuhada they're martyrs I guess because like I have no way to say stop this except to share information about what's happening I'm like okay well I guess like Allah Allah not I guess but I have to I have to have faith that Allah has a plan because Allah always has I always I always say I plan you plan and Allah is the best of planners right always and so I'm like okay clearly there's a plan I have to find some sort of peace in Allah's wisdom and I know that sounds like that might I'm not I'm not I don't want to come off as insensitive or as rude or as like no but in order for me to get up and like not constantly punch every person with an opposing opinion in the face I have to be like Allah has a plan.
- 23:17SPEAKER_01: Allah has a plan Allah hasn't shown us what the plan is yet Allah's plans are like you know they're they're they're unfolding in front of us and that's all that I keep constantly reminding myself of because I'm like if I just if I don't have that thought in my mind I think I'm gonna freaking lose it I'm gonna lose it because then anger completely takes over and all logic just out the door I've had to change my mind about a lot of things a lot of things and I've and I've decided that you know what like I and is this after this is this because of the genocide this specific yeah after the 7th of October I'm like you know what I am done being politically correct I am done being polite there's no political correctness when there's a genocide you have to call things as they are yeah you have to exactly call things as they are and then I have to I really like when I look at my because I'm like I'm not perfect I am not perfect at all you know what I mean and and I have to stop and and when I when I speak when I talk when I say things when I educate other people when they ask me questions I'm like it's not just using the word genocide it's using the word you know colonizers this is colonialism this is the essence of colonialism and not being apartheid all these all these words not not calling not decorating it or trying to soften it or trying to say it another way or trying to work towards being polite I'm done doing that I never did that but like no after that no we all did that to a certain extent everybody's I I I mean I don't know maybe but like I just it is what it is everybody has done that to a certain extent but you said here's the thing and and like I want to go back to now because now that you know I've had all my thoughts I can like breathe out a little bit now that you guys are just like in the inner workings of my brain and honestly I don't want anybody to be this is supposed to be like a safe space for us to talk and share our ideas and all of that so I don't I am never my intent is never to offend anybody ever you know I'm literally telling you what happens in my brain on a I don't care if I offend anyone no I mean but I but the people out there who when it comes to this I don't no no no when it comes to this I don't care if I offend anybody no no no I don't think no no you're not you're not getting what I'm saying not not by having these feelings or thoughts I don't want anybody to be offended by me by how like my approach to thinking about this or how I feel about this or I don't want anybody to be offended when I say like okay I look to Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala to like find faith and Iman and solace and stuff I don't want somebody to take that as me saying it's supposed to happen.
- 25:55SPEAKER_01: No I I oh no no I mean you know what I mean but there has to be a way that I as humans we will never gonna understand we need to cope yeah but we need we need we need something to I need something to make sense I think exactly I need something excuse me I need something bigger than me right to really lean back into and I've always found that like when I'm struggling with something I like really lean into my faith I know again I'm not gonna take any negative judgment from anybody out there telling me I should be wearing hijab thank you so much keep your thoughts to yourself oh we have we have we have we have we just got a new um comment about that by the way but whatever whatever I uh you guys like don't live with me you don't know what my level of faith looks like you don't even know I don't even know why it's levels I don't even know why you get to judge me you get to judge me because I decided to put myself on the internet whatever but my whole thing is like I never want anybody to be I never want anybody to watch what I'm saying especially if it's somebody that's like you know somebody that's really struggling like really in this situation and struggling I never want them to be offended by my words.
- 27:01SPEAKER_01: That's what I mean.
- 27:02SPEAKER_00: Those are the people I don't I don't you mentioned you mentioned your faith I mean for me the way I I deal with this is like you said uh we can plan all we want but Allah is the best of planners but I truly truly believe in my heart that Allah is with the oppressed and not the oppressed 100% 100% okay and at the end of the day I always say you know what um Allah's not going to let them down.
- 27:26SPEAKER_00: I like and and like you said we we all go back to our faith in in moments I mean both of us are are are you know faithful I think we try to do our best but like in situations like this when things just don't make sense we have to look I could just the and that's the thing it's like I need like you said I need to find something that helps me like cope.
- 27:48SPEAKER_00: Yeah and make sense of this this injustice you know it's just it's beyond belief the way that they don't give a shit and they're getting away getting away with it and nobody's holding them accountable.
- 27:59SPEAKER_01: And I mean it drives you crazy it's crazy just it's not just them like I said it's not just the Israelis everyone that's complicit with them.
- 28:08SPEAKER_01: Everybody it's it's complicit is not even the word I'm looking for it's people who are directly aiding and abetting not even aiding and abetting complicity is one thing aiding and abetting is one thing but benefiting making oh yeah money friends for sure for sure yeah that is a whole other level of evil evil that I can't even begin to comprehend how do you go to sleep at night how do you go to sleep at night these people out there on the borders that are demanding five ten fifteen twenty thirty thousand dollars to help people get out of Gazette I can't you're making money it's a business but that's why I always say war's business war's a business it is but like I said for us my thoughts yeah Hana's uh brain welcome to Hanan's brain I was talking to a friend a few nights ago right and she was you know she's she's just she's doing she's living she's living her life normally she's raising her children or whatever and she's just like I feel like every day is this weird she's also Palestinian she's like I feel like every day is this weird like out of body experience like there's a part of me that gets up that drops the kids off at school that like does the laundry that makes dinner that cleans that you know asks about my parents that and then in the back of your head it's always there.
- 29:33SPEAKER_00: It's just if constant for example with me like if I'm making something I'm thinking okay well what about all those kids there their mothers can't feed them can't make them dinner anything I do if I take my kids somewhere well oh my God um they don't have that they're like it's always at the back of my mind no matter what I do it can be something so simple.
- 29:51SPEAKER_00: Like when I when I took my son to the doctor he had an ear infection and in the back of my head I'm like well he can have uh he can get he can get medicine here he can go to a doctor here you know and I and I keep like anything I do I'm constantly thinking about what's happening there.
- 30:08SPEAKER_00: You know like my kid can get this this but the kids there can't get it.
- 30:12SPEAKER_00: The moms there can't help their kids they can't feed their kids they can't get medicine for their kids.
- 30:16SPEAKER_00: You know their kids are being blown to pieces you know and the world sits by idly watching my like nothing is happening.
- 30:25SPEAKER_00: So yeah like I totally get your your friend because it's like for me it's always at the back of my like no matter how um like whatever it is I'm doing.
- 30:36SPEAKER_01: Yeah I have another friend that is also like uh she's she's half Egyptian half Palestinian and her family is still in Gaza and she's just like I don't even know what to I she's like how do you call somebody every day to be like are you alive?
- 30:53SPEAKER_01: She's like I'm embarrassed.
- 30:55SPEAKER_01: Yeah there's nothing that I can do and she's like except for check on them and she's like does it even mean anything it's really because I have like and I can't even imagine how she feels because it is her actual family you know so she's just like and she's like I have no way to get them out.
- 31:11SPEAKER_00: I don't know what to do like how how do I do this and that's the thing like when you know someone there and you're texting it's like what are you because I I like I always try to text like every day yeah you know but then like what am I supposed to say every day like like it's just so you feel so helpless and so useless.
- 31:29SPEAKER_00: I do have a question for you.
- 31:30SPEAKER_00: Oh are we gonna go into what so we're gonna leave Hanan's brain now we're gonna go to Lina's and we're gonna get into Lena's brain.
- 31:37SPEAKER_01: All right what do you think of all of the people who are leaving Mata Zazaiza negative comments on his post on Instagram about the work that he's doing and the interviews that he's doing and how do you feel about that?
- 31:50SPEAKER_00: Well here's the thing I I see I saw a couple of videos criticizing him I just don't know like I tried finding the video they're talking about referencing before I make a decision like honestly I think he like a lot of forget forget that I'm just saying in general I'm not talking about a specific video okay I'm saying in general you know like when he now that he's the criticism though like I I like there's a couple of things that I saw like criticism is that the criticism is that like oh now you're out and now you're like living your life and now you're I can think to myself and I'll answer this and then I want to I really want to hear what you think people are just out there saying you know you're not how is this raising awareness you're just living your life you're posting pictures with people you're out doing interviews I mean is he not allowed to do that that man that man is he's only like 25.
- 32:41SPEAKER_00: So they're mad they're mad that he's doing it looks like he's lived three lifetimes okay so they're mad that he left and that he's doing interviews on TV and he's talking about his experience in Gaza and taking pictures with people why is that a problem that's why I'm asking like how do you feel I don't I don't see there's a problem with that I mean he left he made a he made a decision and we don't know how he came to that decision but we all know and he shared videos in the past of him getting threats being called by the Israeli military and being threatened and you know what anyone who's who's who's lived in gazda the past four months people should keep their comments to themselves thank you exactly I'm sorry like you don't know what his what they've been through they can eat shit I'm sorry good there's no exact because listen you can criticize like people people there's like we don't have to agree with everything that people do okay there's a couple things that he did that I don't agree with personally but for me like he look he's he's he's done actually I can I shouldn't say a couple things maybe maybe one he's done he's done so much more to raise awareness with just his camera I know I know a lot of people have with a lot more that they have what I'm saying is I don't have to agree I don't have to agree with everything he does or everything he says but I shouldn't criticize him for leaving a war zone a genocide okay and then going out to talk about it okay leaving death and destruction a genocide so yeah I mean nobody's nobody's perfect everybody makes mistakes but like leave him alone dude like he's at the end of the day it's not just that's how I feel he just turned what 25 okay I'm not making he didn't see his GQ man of the year cover until up until like like maybe like two weeks ago I think people need to lay off he's not just let him breathe a little bit let him breathe like is he just like not allowed to do that what gets me is people who are the first to criticize are the ones you know comfortably sitting chilling in their home it's funny making videos I gotta I gotta pull up a uh um a sample um comment for you because it is like it's a little infuriating by the way when you see uh he was like at 19 million followers he's now at 18 million so he's like lost a million followers but I think there was this is this is what I thought you were asking because I saw some videos like some Lebanese uh creators talking about he how he criticized Lebanese people or something I don't I don't the thing is like I didn't see the original video so I can't really like talk on it like I just I just don't know what he said and they were like criticizing him for that and then coming after him saying oh he got famous and now you know he thinks he's this big shot and I'm just like guys like what he went through I don't know I just don't know I didn't see the original video that they were what I what I what I I don't know when I look at his comments you know because people go through his comment section to me what matters the most what people are missing is the messages that he that people are posting from inside the Gaza.
- 35:55SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 35:55SPEAKER_01: While people are out there trying to judge a man you know who is just getting his life together I don't even want to think about the kind of trauma that he endured himself.
- 36:06SPEAKER_01: Yeah people are they are judging him while there's other comments you know like that state like the following we are in Rafah now and there is a ground invasion and if there is a ground invasion we will not you know we will not survive it okay ceasefire now okay and then there's other people who are what I that's this from inside Rafah there's so many comments like that and I think people are missing that what other people are missing is how much he's opened up the eyes of a lot of people who are not Arabic speaking who are not in the Arab countries who are not Arab Americans or Western Americans or whatever you know because you have actors on here and you have writers and you have you know personalities public figures writing things like humanity will ever will forever be indebted to you will forever remain indebted to you long live Gaza right so people who didn't know anything at all about this yeah yeah that's the thing yeah they now know about this because of him so when people sit there uh you know uh like and criticize him and say things like okay how did how did he like how did he do that like like it translate that because I don't know how to translate that in English but like basically that he's a sellout how I don't know what did he do listen like I'll tell you like him hanging out with Mahmoud Abbas taking a picture with him but the thing is like I understand people like not liking that but the thing is we don't know what circumstance we don't know if he was surprised by it we don't know if they pushed him in there like you just don't know like a lot of these people like you know these world leaders yeah they're people do shit for them all the time and they they push for things we don't know the circumstances behind that okay so he took a picture with the with the president the the so-called president of the Palestinian authority okay it's not the end of the world you know it doesn't mean any I think what it doesn't mean anything yeah what people need to realize is you're out here writing a comment to this guy to criticize him okay and that comment section in the same comment section what you should be paying attention to is comments like I'm in the Rafah the night before there was heavy bombing we sit and wait for our turn and wonder whether we will be martyred or we will remain alive with psychological illnesses oh Lord this war will end pray with me people are coming to this comments section to ask for help in hope that someone is gonna see what they're writing and what they're saying because he has such a big platform.
- 38:36SPEAKER_00: So I don't know I don't know how I feel about people like criticizing him when stuff like this is in the com people are just writing comments to try and possibly like save their own I don't think I don't I I don't think um it's fair to do that to him I mean at least not now anyway like at least let him breathe a little bit like like lay off I feel like yeah I feel like he's allowed to and also he's not nobody's perfect like if he made certain mistakes he made mistakes we all make mistakes he he's he's just turned 25 for God's sakes come on I know I know it's not like he like I don't know like I said I mean there's certain things like I don't agree with it doesn't mean this person like you can't come at someone who survived all that and say you sold your sellout like you just can't do that.
- 39:20SPEAKER_00: Like I can't take you seriously you know unfortunately it seems sometimes that some people in the Arab world our brethren like to come at like there's always that group of people that like to break others down.
- 39:38SPEAKER_00: Okay that's number one number two my main point is as a Palestinian and I'm a Palestinian who hasn't experienced any of this stuff right like I have family members who have obviously suffered under Israeli occupation and Israeli apartheid and I don't want to get into that now maybe that's another episode we can talk about all the ways that my family members have have suffered under Israeli occupation.
- 40:04SPEAKER_00: But my point is as Palestinians who are in Gaza who are who went through and continue to go through this genocide I think for other Arabs who want to criticize them they have no right I think anybody living under that right now under genocide what's being like what's happening there anyone experiencing that right now can say whatever the hell they want to say that we don't have like the people there and I'm I'm saying I'm Palestinian and yes I'm like I don't I don't even feel I have the right to say as much as them because I'm not currently there but anyone experiencing what these people are experiencing they can say whatever the hell they want to say to you get over it.
- 40:49SPEAKER_00: Don't get your feelings hurt okay it's not about you.
- 40:52SPEAKER_00: What they've endured and what they've been through they have every right to say whatever they want even if they're wrong even if it's not politically correct even if it makes you uh feel uncomfortable okay I agree if your your country is being criticized or even if your government is being criticized they can say whatever the hell they want to say okay just yesterday I saw this video there's this lady I started following her I don't know where she's from exactly but some Palestinian had corrected something she had said she's very pro-Palestinian and she's speaking on uh uh Palestinian uh what's happening in Gaza and people in her comment section were like oh my god are you gonna let him correct you like that because he was duetting her and saying no I would let him correct me if I said something wrong I don't mind I followed her after seeing this video because she was like guys you need to calm down yes I am not Palestinian okay here's a Palestinian if I said something like I'm trying my best if I if I said something that was not a hundred percent accurate or I missed a point here or there he or she any Palestinian has a right to come and duet me and say hey this is how it is this is not a personal insult.
- 42:04SPEAKER_00: This is us learning from each other and teaching each other and there is no issue and this is someone who is very mature and secure about herself like okay I'm here to learn it's not a big deal and so this is what I understand like some some people do that all the time like to like people I mean we've had that we've experienced that ourselves people corrected us right like when we did just when we did a a a dialogue challenge and you know yeah we're this person's from Gaza and this person's from the from the stop doing that don't use those terms and we were like oh okay but that's what I mean when I say like things that I learned the way that I say things the way that I was taught these things you stop and you're like no you're absolutely right like I don't have to be like no I'm gonna be said my point to that is if like and she's saying she's like people need to let Palestinians be like let them express them let them like even if when they express themselves you're gonna get your feelings a little hurt deal with it deal with it let your feelings get hurt okay we're not we're not here to make you feel comfortable okay we're we're not we we have other things to worry about survival to worry about okay your feelings getting hurt don't matter to me you know I saw a video today too of of DJ Khara and he was eating Palestinian food.
- 43:29SPEAKER_00: Oh my god so where'd you see the video?
- 43:31SPEAKER_01: I'm Instagram and I'm uh what was he eating Shubit Sammam oh he was eating like um I think he was eating ma'luba and he was eating like mahashi and things like that I'm just like people can't find and then like that was the video and then right after it I in Palestine posted a video Haramab was like a small child like rummaging through the garbage like that's on the street everywhere trying to find something to eat and I'm like that dude has no shame.
- 43:58SPEAKER_00: He's so disgusting.
- 43:59SPEAKER_00: Yeah all of a But see, that's another thing.
- 44:01SPEAKER_00: But no, that yeah, but that's another thing.
- 44:03SPEAKER_00: Like a lot of people, like, I don't think people should be posting like food pictures.
- 44:06SPEAKER_00: I I really don't.
- 44:07SPEAKER_00: Like, no food pictures.
- 44:08SPEAKER_00: I mean, there was this one person I followed, and they were just like, I'm just like, I can't watch this.
- 44:14SPEAKER_00: Like, telling me about your day, where you're gonna eat, what you're gonna drink, or what you drank or ate or whatever, going out with friends.
- 44:21SPEAKER_00: And I'm just like, I just can't.
- 44:22SPEAKER_00: Like, I can't watch it.
- 44:23SPEAKER_00: I just unfollowed.
- 44:24SPEAKER_00: I'm like, I can't do that.
- 44:25SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
- 44:26SPEAKER_00: I mean, do you see what happened with the um uh president of Brazil today?
- 44:31SPEAKER_00: They re-he called their ambassador.
- 44:33SPEAKER_00: You didn't hear about that?
- 44:35SPEAKER_01: No, I tried really hard to um I tried really hard to like focus my consumption of what's coming out.
- 44:42SPEAKER_01: You know what I mean?
- 44:43SPEAKER_01: I have no choice, Hannah and I work in this.
- 44:45SPEAKER_01: I have to so I get to focus my consumption, and I like to like I I look all day long.
- 44:53SPEAKER_00: They got mad at him because he called it uh the president of Brazil called it a genocide.
- 44:59SPEAKER_00: Um, and I mean is that what it is.
- 45:01SPEAKER_00: He said this is Nazi behavior, and they got mad.
- 45:04SPEAKER_00: Oh, you mean he's at the truth?
- 45:06SPEAKER_00: They got mad because he said the truth?
- 45:07SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah, they got mad, and so they summoned the uh constantly, they're constantly getting mad, like, wait a minute, it's not what they're doing.
- 45:15SPEAKER_01: And it's like that is exactly what you're doing.
- 45:17SPEAKER_01: What are you talking about, right now?
- 45:18SPEAKER_00: No, no, no, they don't care.
- 45:19SPEAKER_00: They actually go out and say, Hey, we're doing this, we're gonna do this, we're gonna ethnically cleanse and we're gonna kill all these Palestinians.
- 45:24SPEAKER_00: And you have to be okay with it.
- 45:26SPEAKER_00: And then when someone actually says, Oh, well, this is called a genocide, they get mad.
- 45:29SPEAKER_00: Okay, so the Israelis summoned the Brazilian ambassador to Israel, and then you know, words were exchanged, and now the uh uh the Brazilian uh ambassador has been recalled back to Brazil.
- 45:41SPEAKER_00: So basically, Brazil pulled out their ambassador.
- 45:44SPEAKER_00: I was thinking that the the Brazilian government has more integrity and self-respect than the majority of these Arab leaders, and I'm just talking about Arab leaders, I'm not talking about the Arab population.
- 45:57SPEAKER_01: Surprised.
- 45:57SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and I'm just I'm not at all like but look, they're they're they're they're um like they were they were very direct in in what their like in their messaging like early on in this whole thing.
- 46:10SPEAKER_01: So I'm not surprised that this is where they landed at all, because from the beginning, they have been very vocal about what this is and the direction that this is going and then how they feel about it.
- 46:19SPEAKER_01: They being the Brazilians, like the Brazilian government from the beginning.
- 46:22SPEAKER_01: They they didn't mince their words, their party line was always like, This is not right, we do not support this.
- 46:28SPEAKER_01: So I think it got to it got to a point where we're either gonna do something or we're gonna be complicit.
- 46:34SPEAKER_00: So I think they decided like, but I feel like look look at the South Africans, look at the Brazilians, look at like a lot of the people, like the the Irish, all these people are coming out speaking full support of Palestinians, defending Palestinian human rights, and all this stuff.
- 46:48SPEAKER_00: And then, like, you look at the Arab countries, and I'm just like, What are you doing?
- 46:51SPEAKER_00: Like, what are you doing?
- 46:53SPEAKER_00: Oh my gosh, I saw a video they're not doing nothing.
- 46:56SPEAKER_00: They're not doing things to make it worse.
- 46:58SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I saw a video today.
- 46:59SPEAKER_01: Uh, it was this morning, it was either this morning or last night.
- 47:03SPEAKER_01: I saw a video today, and they were like, so the the the aid trucks in Egypt, there's a lot of them that are just like at the Mabad, like in the Rafah.
- 47:12SPEAKER_01: Like the people who want to get this stuff in, they are like doing the most.
- 47:16SPEAKER_01: And so I see it an aid truck passing by, like, you know, driving in traffic to get to the highway or whatever.
- 47:22SPEAKER_01: And there's a man who is selling oranges, like he's a fruit, he has a fruit stand.
- 47:27SPEAKER_01: But people right now, the the economic situation is like grave, like it is bad.
- 47:34SPEAKER_01: When I say it's bad, I mean it's really bad.
- 47:36SPEAKER_01: No, I understand.
- 47:38SPEAKER_01: Here's this guy, here's this guy that is probably just barely making it, uh, and the a-truck is stuck in traffic, and you see him like tossing oranges, which is the only thing he's selling that he has to sell, and he's just keeps putting them onto the A-Truck.
- 47:51SPEAKER_01: And I'm like, here's this man who is probably barely feeding himself and is doing more than people who have the power and the money to do more.
- 48:01SPEAKER_00: Yeah, but that's the thing though.
- 48:02SPEAKER_00: Like, until this is what this is what I wanted to talk about.
- 48:06SPEAKER_00: Like, this is like inshallah, we'll have a whole episode on this topic, but we understand the governments are trash, right?
- 48:12SPEAKER_00: Like, we we understand that we understand that they don't represent the people, right?
- 48:15SPEAKER_00: Especially like in the Arab world or anywhere, actually, it's not just the Arab world, but like we understand that.
- 48:20SPEAKER_00: But what responsibility do these people have?
- 48:22SPEAKER_00: Like, because this is a conversation that we always like, you know, you I'm sure this conversation has come up in in whatever outings you've been, wherever there was a discussion about this.
- 48:33SPEAKER_00: What because I've seen enough Egyptians and I've seen enough Jordanians come out and say, Oh my god, like we need to do more.
- 48:40SPEAKER_00: This is our government doesn't represent us, but what what's the solution?
- 48:43SPEAKER_00: Like, what's the first step in in trying to like I always I always think about that?
- 48:48SPEAKER_01: I'm like, what what power do these people have?
- 48:50SPEAKER_01: Like what what can they do?
- 48:51SPEAKER_01: So, like even something as simple as protesting, you can't do that.
- 48:58SPEAKER_00: That's the thing, that's the thing because there's so like anyone who says something is is arrested, and then you'll never see them again.
- 49:05SPEAKER_01: Excuse me, ma'am.
- 49:06SPEAKER_01: We call it forcibly disappear.
- 49:09SPEAKER_00: Okay, but like there's this one Egyptian dude, like this guy was like genuinely upset and like crying, and he basically said, He's like, I'm gonna say what I have to say, and he's like, I know that my family's probably gonna be at risk, I'm gonna be at risk.
- 49:24SPEAKER_00: And he had this like five or six minute rant.
- 49:28SPEAKER_00: He's like, How can we live with ourselves while our neighbors, our brothers and sisters next door are going through all of this?
- 49:35SPEAKER_00: So I know we all know, we all understand that this like governments don't represent the people, but I think we're so far here.
- 49:44SPEAKER_01: The government doesn't represent us, of course.
- 49:46SPEAKER_00: It's not just the Arab world, it's everywhere, it's everywhere, you know.
- 49:49SPEAKER_00: But like what I feel like at a certain point people are like, Oh, well, yeah, there's a genocide happening.
- 49:54SPEAKER_00: This is just everyday thing now, and that's what breaks my heart.
- 49:58SPEAKER_00: Like, like halas, like it's forgotten, like we've become so desensitized.
- 50:02SPEAKER_00: Have we become desensitized?
- 50:03SPEAKER_00: I mean, I know I haven't.
- 50:04SPEAKER_01: But I think a lot of the world has, and and I think a lot of people choose to turn it on and turn it off, you know, and I I just like me personally, like you how do you stand by and watch something so wrong happen and not say anything?
- 50:23SPEAKER_00: Yeah, but that's the thing.
- 50:25SPEAKER_00: You have people speaking out still, but then you have like I see my feed.
- 50:29SPEAKER_00: My feed is like people going back to posting about their daily routine.
- 50:34SPEAKER_00: Oh, yeah.
- 50:34SPEAKER_00: People going back to talking about the food they're making, and I just find that like like I can understand, like, that's one thing I can't forgive is people posting food.
- 50:44SPEAKER_00: Like, I just get like don't post food, like especially now, like just don't post food.
- 50:49SPEAKER_00: How do you feel about how do you feel about food content creators?
- 50:54SPEAKER_01: I mean, like listen Palestinian food content creators, because I have one that specifically comes to mind, and he's Ghazawi and his family.
- 51:03SPEAKER_01: Has he been talking about it?
- 51:05SPEAKER_01: He's been you know, it's funny, he has so much criticism.
- 51:09SPEAKER_01: Um, so he was talking about it, and I don't watch him regularly.
- 51:15SPEAKER_01: I just know the regular food content is back.
- 51:17SPEAKER_01: I don't know if he's helping, not this, that I don't want to judge him.
- 51:20SPEAKER_01: I just ask the question in general, like Palestinian food content creators, like how do you feel about that?
- 51:24SPEAKER_01: What are they?
- 51:25SPEAKER_00: So is he back to making food?
- 51:27SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I don't know how I feel about that.
- 51:31SPEAKER_00: I mean, I I don't I think if if that's what you do, if that's your job, like if you're a chef and it's what he is.
- 51:38SPEAKER_00: Okay, and if you want to do that, then you need to make sure you're mentioning what's happening every single video you make.
- 51:42SPEAKER_00: Yeah, do your usual content, but at least mention it.
- 51:45SPEAKER_01: I think like I think his way of mentioning it, and again, I don't want to like, you know, I don't want to say like, oh my gosh, he's wrong.
- 51:51SPEAKER_01: I don't want to, I don't want to, I don't want to judge anybody, right?
- 51:56SPEAKER_02: Of course.
- 51:57SPEAKER_01: Because I don't if he was somebody I watched every single day, I would be like, okay.
- 52:01SPEAKER_01: But I don't watch him every single day.
- 52:03SPEAKER_01: I do follow him, but I don't watch him every single day.
- 52:05SPEAKER_01: Um, I think his his area, like his focus area was always, you know, Palestinian food, specifically Ghazawi food, um, but different things from different parts of Palestine and you know, different, you know, like different parts of Palestine have different like cuisine or influences in their cuisine.
- 52:22SPEAKER_01: There's things that are similar, of course.
- 52:24SPEAKER_01: But his focus, his focus was always, yeah, his focus was always Gazawi food.
- 52:28SPEAKER_01: And so in the beginning of all of this, he had family in Gaza.
- 52:32SPEAKER_01: I don't know if they're still there, I don't know if he got them out.
- 52:34SPEAKER_01: I'm not really sure, right?
- 52:36SPEAKER_01: Okay, um, I do know that he was focused a lot on trying to get Aiden and how who you contact and you know who you talk to.
- 52:41SPEAKER_01: And he posted this on his on his account.
- 52:43SPEAKER_01: He posted this all all on his account, but now he's back to his regular food content.
- 52:50SPEAKER_00: I think for for that, I think that's okay.
- 52:52SPEAKER_00: I mean, I'm not the person, listen, I'm who am I to to say this?
- 52:56SPEAKER_00: That's what I'm asking.
- 52:57SPEAKER_00: I was asking me, no, no, but for me, like he's I think he's doing it responsibly, yes, responsibly.
- 53:03SPEAKER_00: But what I'm talking about, I'm not talking about like someone who's a chef and that's his entire platform, right?
- 53:08SPEAKER_00: At least he's using his platform to keep reminding people, hey, this is happening, keep them in your prayers.
- 53:13SPEAKER_00: This is about Palestine, and you're teaching about Palestine.
- 53:16SPEAKER_00: That's fine.
- 53:16SPEAKER_00: You you're you're you're teaching people about Palestinian uh uh uh recipes and food and whatever.
- 53:22SPEAKER_00: My issue is not with that, my issue is with your average person, and I'm talking about Arab, Arab people, okay, who are now like anyone I see doing this, I automatically unfollow.
- 53:33SPEAKER_00: I just do not have the tolerance for that.
- 53:35SPEAKER_00: If you are posting what you ate for dinner and telling me what drinks you got, and telling me what event and party you went to, and you happen to be Arab, and specifically if you're Palestinian, kulukara.
- 53:52SPEAKER_00: Okay, you can translate that okay, exactly.
- 53:56SPEAKER_00: Like, I have no tolerance for that, I don't respect that.
- 53:59SPEAKER_00: Like, if you're gonna like go out, you're gonna go out, fine.
- 54:01SPEAKER_00: You don't have to put all this shit out on social media, and I think that's the thing that really bothers a lot of people.
- 54:06SPEAKER_01: It's like I don't mind that you're living your life still.
- 54:09SPEAKER_01: I don't think you should just exactly okay.
- 54:11SPEAKER_00: You're living your life, don't post this shit.
- 54:13SPEAKER_00: It's just so insensitive.
- 54:14SPEAKER_00: It's so insensitive when people are eating animal feed, okay, to stay alive.
- 54:21SPEAKER_00: How dare you post a picture?
- 54:22SPEAKER_00: Like, how how dare you post videos of what you're eating?
- 54:25SPEAKER_00: Like on jet, like it's just so messed up.
- 54:28SPEAKER_00: So for this is what I'm talking about.
- 54:30SPEAKER_00: It's just so insensitive, and I just have no tolerance for it.
- 54:34SPEAKER_01: Well, now that everybody knows the inner workings of my brain and my and streams from my consciousness and streams from Lena's consciousness.
- 54:41SPEAKER_00: Um I I had like 10% of this.
- 54:44SPEAKER_00: You really did.
- 54:45SPEAKER_01: This was more this was more of like a therapy session for me.
- 54:50SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it's not even an interview, it literally was a therapy session for me because I have so many feelings and I think I could talk forever about you know how I feel.
- 54:58SPEAKER_01: And then when I have all my feelings, I pause and I stop and I think to myself, God, I'm so insignificant in all of this.
- 55:06SPEAKER_01: Please just, please just come through and and and save these people because I don't I don't know how much more they can take.
- 55:17SPEAKER_01: And it's not even about my feelings.
- 55:19SPEAKER_01: Like, I again what I when I really think about it, when I go down the rabbit hole, I'm like, my feelings are insignificant.
- 55:25SPEAKER_01: 100%.
- 55:26SPEAKER_01: They're just insignificant.
- 55:27SPEAKER_01: My feelings are just for me.
- 55:28SPEAKER_01: But I'm really hoping that us sitting here and sharing our feelings with you guys, or me at least sharing my feelings, um, will one get you to understand a little bit more about your own feelings and that it's okay to be feeling the way that you're feeling.
- 55:41SPEAKER_01: You don't have to be apologetic for it at all.
- 55:44SPEAKER_01: Um, and at the same time, um, maybe it will, if you're somebody who doesn't know anything about what's going on, maybe this will kind of push you more to um educate yourself and to go out and seek information.
- 55:57SPEAKER_01: Um, and that's really it.
- 55:59SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 56:00SPEAKER_01: Any final thoughts, my friend?
- 56:02SPEAKER_00: No, until next time.
- 56:03SPEAKER_01: I love it for you.
- 56:06SPEAKER_01: All the thoughts.
- 56:07SPEAKER_01: All right.
- 56:08SPEAKER_01: Until next time, everyone.
- 56:09SPEAKER_01: Thank you.
