Speaker 1: 106.7 Light FM. Good morning. It's Jack and Christine to
• 0:03
Speaker 1: start your day. And of course, we're all thinking about
• 0:05
Speaker 1: and remembering Dolly Parton today. She is one of those people, Christine,
• 0:09
Speaker 1: that's interesting. It wasn't the big songs. It wasn't the movie.
• 0:13
Speaker 1: It wasn't this, that. It was everything. It was Dolly Parton.
• 0:16
Speaker 1: That's why we knew her and loved her and generational
• 0:20
Speaker 1: icon for generations. For sure.
• 0:21
Speaker 2: Definitely her beautiful personality, right? Her philanthropy. She just seems lovely.
• 0:26
Speaker 1: You talked to her on Zoom call.
• 0:28
Speaker 2: Once, right? We did. Cubby and I interviewed Dolly Parton.
• 0:32
Speaker 2: We were like shaking. We were so excited. It's Dolly.
• 0:36
Speaker 2: But it was, Jack, it was during the pandemic. So
• 0:39
Speaker 2: it was via Zoom. Yeah. I wish it could have
• 0:41
Speaker 2: been in person. But, you know, honestly, it was just
• 0:44
Speaker 2: like such an honor to talk to her. And she
• 0:45
Speaker 2: was so kind to us. It was around the holidays.
• 0:48
Speaker 2: She was sitting next to a Christmas tree. And she
• 0:51
Speaker 2: was dressed up. She's just wonderful. You could just feel
• 0:54
Speaker 2: that wonderful energy from her.
• 0:56
Speaker 1: I think everybody that I've known who have interviewed her
• 0:59
Speaker 1: or have met her said she is just the most
• 1:01
Speaker 1: heartwarming person. Like she's happy to see you, not the
• 1:05
Speaker 1: other way around. Like, oh, wow, I've been waiting all
• 1:07
Speaker 1: my life for this interview, and I'm glad we're sitting
• 1:09
  Speaker 1: to talk.
• 1:10
Speaker 2: Yeah. So you'll see flags are at half-staff across the
• 1:13
Speaker 2: country because the president asked for that in her honor
• 1:16
Speaker 2: in the Empire State Building event. was lit up in
• 1:19
Speaker 2: pink sparkles last night. And there's Dolly, the musical, coming
• 1:22
Speaker 2: to Broadway. And that's going into previews in December. It
• 1:26
Speaker 2: would have, it will open, but it would have been
• 1:28
Speaker 2: her birthday. They were planning on opening January 19th for
• 1:31
  Speaker 2: her birthday. Oh.
• 1:32
Speaker 1: They're going to open it earlier then?
• 1:34
Speaker 2: Well, the previews start December 7th. So I believe you
• 1:37
Speaker 2: can already get tickets for that. And then there's some
• 1:39
Speaker 2: interesting things about her that we might not have known.
• 1:42
  Speaker 2: It's fun.
• 1:44
Speaker 1: The cloned sheep was named after her? Remember the cloned sheep, Dolly?
• 1:47
Speaker 2: I do remember Dolly.
• 1:49
Speaker 1: I didn't realize it was Dolly Parton.
• 1:51
Speaker 2: I didn't know it was hers either. She was secretly
• 1:54
Speaker 2: a producer on Buffy the Vampire Slayer, which was a
• 1:57
Speaker 2: show that we loved. The real Jolene is not what
• 2:00
Speaker 2: fans imagined and has a book with actual details on
• 2:04
Speaker 2: that song. That would be interesting.
• 2:06
Speaker 1: And of course, she lost a Dolly Parton lookalike contest
• 2:10
Speaker 1: to a drag queen.
• 2:11
Speaker 2: No. That person did it better.
• 2:14
Speaker 1: You can do Dolly better than Dolly. You're pretty good,
• 2:17
  Speaker 1: I must say.
• 2:18
Speaker 2: And she also co-wrote a best-selling thriller novel with acclaimed
• 2:21
Speaker 2: author James Patterson. There's just so much going on with her.
• 2:25
Speaker 1: She could do everything.
• 2:26
  Speaker 2: I think so.
