- 0:00Speaker 1: This is 710WOR, where the Mark Simone Show starts now. Whoa!
- 0:10Speaker 1: This is quite a week. This is like the final week.
- 0:12Speaker 1: I mean, this is leading right into Labor Day. I mean,
- 0:15Speaker 1: it's officially summer well into September, but this is really
- 0:19Speaker 1: the final week of summer for a lot of people.
- 0:22Speaker 1: Labor Day, I don't know how it got here so fast,
- 0:25Speaker 1: but it's here. We got a lot to get to.
- 0:28Speaker 1: President Trump renaming things again. This drives the left nuts.
- 0:33Speaker 1: They go crazy when he does this. Now, you remember,
- 0:36Speaker 1: these Democrats, these left-wingers, they renamed everything in America. They
- 0:40Speaker 1: renamed every military base. They renamed towns. Remember, they renamed
- 0:45Speaker 1: a mountain. Mount McKinley had to become something else. They
- 0:48Speaker 1: renamed 500 things without blinking a He renames one thing.
- 0:54Speaker 1: They're up in arms. They can't believe it. Who the
- 0:56Speaker 1: hell is he to rename anything? But Lake Ontario's Lake America.
- 1:01Speaker 1: You know who plays along with this? It's Google. Yeah,
- 1:03Speaker 1: if you look at Google Maps already, it says Lake America.
- 1:08Speaker 1: They're getting a lot of flack for being a little
- 1:11Speaker 1: too busy catering to the Trump administration. But Google Maps,
- 1:15Speaker 1: if you look on it, you'll see Lake America. Google
- 1:18Speaker 1: Maps arguing... that they have to go by whatever the
- 1:22Speaker 1: official government agency, uh, name is. And apparently president Trump
- 1:27Speaker 1: having control of that agency, uh, officially named it like America.
- 1:32Speaker 1: So Google will go along with it. Now there's that, uh, uh,
- 1:35Speaker 1: there's the, uh, the Canadian prime minister, but, uh, Ontario,
- 1:39Speaker 1: the province, these provinces like Ontario have premiers. So, uh,
- 1:46Speaker 1: This is Premier Ford of Ontario. He's the Premier. Then
- 1:49Speaker 1: you see the guy, and he looks like Ed Asner.
- 1:52Speaker 1: Most unimpressive looking guy. But he's all up in arms
- 1:55Speaker 1: about this Lake America.
- 1:57Speaker 2: It was like something out of Saturday Night Live when
- 1:59Speaker 2: he signed a document saying change to Lake America. No
- 2:04Speaker 2: one's going to call it Lake of America. It's been
- 2:07Speaker 2: Lake Ontario for hundreds of years. It's going to continue
- 2:10Speaker 2: being Lake Ontario. And it's just so disappointing.
- 2:15Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 2:15Speaker 1: Well, all right. We'll call it that for a few weeks,
- 2:19Speaker 1: just to annoy you. Just to annoy you. As I say,
- 2:21Speaker 1: Google Maps, it says Lake America. But apparently they can
- 2:24Speaker 1: do this. If you're in Canada, it'll still say Lake Ontario.
- 2:29Speaker 1: But whenever Trump does anything that's a Democratic thing, Democrats
- 2:33Speaker 1: rename everything. Everything constantly. Bases. They tear down statues. They
- 2:38Speaker 1: rename cities. They rename neighborhoods. But as soon as he
- 2:41Speaker 1: does anything Democratic, they go nuts. So it was interesting.
- 2:46Speaker 1: He visited NASA on Friday, and he's very interested in
- 2:51Speaker 1: the moon, which he'll probably rename. It'll be probably Moon
- 2:54Speaker 1: America or something, but he's really interested in going back there.
- 2:58Speaker 1: And he's right. We shouldn't have abandoned the space program
- 3:01Speaker 1: when we did. We just gave up on it. It
- 3:04Speaker 1: was a big part of the Kennedy administration. In 1960, 61,
- 3:08Speaker 1: he took office, and he said, By the end of
- 3:12Speaker 1: the decade, we'll land a man on the moon. It
- 3:15Speaker 1: sounded insane at the time. It sounded like something so
- 3:19Speaker 1: far in the future. But he did it by the
- 3:21Speaker 1: end of the decade, 1969. So the president, before he
- 3:26Speaker 1: leaves office, which is two years before he leaves office,
- 3:29Speaker 1: he wants to land a man on the moon. And
- 3:33Speaker 1: he thinks it's very important. Big speech at NASA on Friday.
- 3:38Speaker 3: From the very beginning, America has always been a frontier
- 3:41Speaker 3: nation and Space is the highest of all the frontiers.
- 3:46Speaker 3: Our manifest destiny is to explore and settle this great unknown,
- 3:49Speaker 3: carry forward the light of American liberty into the stars.
- 3:55Speaker 1: So, it's a great goal. You know, it was very
- 3:58Speaker 1: important that we landed a man on the moon in 1969,
- 4:02Speaker 1: and it led to important things if we landed a
- 4:06Speaker 1: man on the moon. I don't know exactly what. It
- 4:11Speaker 1: looked good. The pictures were fascinating. And then we sent
- 4:14Speaker 1: more men to the moon and well, they walked around,
- 4:19Speaker 1: they collected some rocks. Remember that one astronaut hit a
- 4:23Speaker 1: golf ball on the moon. The outside of that, I
- 4:27Speaker 1: don't know what the, I mean, they keep telling us that, well,
- 4:29Speaker 1: we're going to colonize it. We're going to have data
- 4:31Speaker 1: centers there. We're going to, I don't know how you're
- 4:32Speaker 1: going to do any of that, but it's a great goal.
- 4:35Speaker 3: Before the end of my term, American astronauts will return
- 4:38Speaker 3: to the lunar surface at We're looking forward to that.
- 4:41Speaker 1: We'll do it.
- 4:42Speaker 3: And we're then going to the next step. And when
- 4:45Speaker 3: we do, they'll plant this very important flag to mark
- 4:49Speaker 3: the site of the first permanent American settlement.
- 4:51Speaker 2: On the moon.
- 4:52Speaker 3: They're going to have a settlement. They're building a settlement.
- 4:54Speaker 2: Up in the moon. Yeah.
- 4:56Speaker 1: All right. I don't know who want to live there.
- 4:59Speaker 1: You know, some people move to Rockland County and say, well,
- 5:02Speaker 1: that's a little too far to commute. But can you
- 5:04Speaker 1: imagine from the moon? I mean, what does that mean?
- 5:08Speaker 1: We're going to live on the moon. What does that mean?
- 5:10Speaker 1: They'll have a Starbucks. They'll have a Costco. There'll be
- 5:13Speaker 1: a Chipotle. I mean, that's really all it means. So, hey,
- 5:18Speaker 1: this is fascinating. Now, you know, Jimmy Fallon is still
- 5:23Speaker 1: on the air. That's the Tonight Show. I mean, that's
- 5:26Speaker 1: the original late night show. It's hard to cancel that.
- 5:30Speaker 1: But Jimmy Kimmel is very close to being canceled. Remember,
- 5:34Speaker 1: his contract ended and they wouldn't give him a new contract.
- 5:38Speaker 1: They just put him on a one-year extension, which he's
- 5:40Speaker 1: on now. One-year extension, and he's taken the summer off.
- 5:45Speaker 1: That's kind of the Howard Stern model, and it led
- 5:47Speaker 1: to pretty much the end of Howard Stern, which we'll
- 5:49Speaker 1: get to coming up. But Colbert, fired, thrown off the air,
- 5:56Speaker 1: low ratings. And who would they replace him with? Well,
- 6:00Speaker 1: they decided to do something a little different. They turned
- 6:02Speaker 1: the time, the one hour on CBS at 11.30 a.m.
- 6:05Speaker 1: over to byron allen he actually buys the time from
- 6:08Speaker 1: cbs and he does a late night show but it's
- 6:11Speaker 1: nothing like kimmel or colbert or found there's no political
- 6:15Speaker 1: jokes there's no angry politics it's just old-fashioned comedy it's
- 6:19Speaker 1: called comics unleashed and they have four comedians on every
- 6:23Speaker 1: show and byron allen interviews them but it's all it's
- 6:28Speaker 1: all pre-arranged they know uh you know what jokes the
- 6:31Speaker 1: guy has so every question is to lead into part
- 6:33Speaker 1: of his routine but it's very funny Comics Unleashed, good
- 6:36Speaker 1: comedy show. Now, here's the interesting part. It is now
- 6:39Speaker 1: beating Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show. It is now
- 6:43Speaker 1: beating Jimmy Kimmel Live in the most important demo of all.
- 6:48Speaker 1: That's 18 to 49. That's the key demo for TV shows.
- 6:53Speaker 1: Byron Allen's Comics Unleashed now beating Fallon, beating Kimmel. It's actually,
- 7:03Speaker 1: is it a two-hour show? Yeah, he's also on against
- 7:07Speaker 1: Late Night with Seth Meyers, and he's beating Late Night
- 7:12Speaker 1: with Seth Meyers. So this is interesting. This is old-fashioned comedy.
- 7:17Speaker 1: This was the idea of Late Night TV. You'd have
- 7:20Speaker 1: a few laughs, something entertaining, enjoyable laughs before you go
- 7:24Speaker 1: to sleep. The idea was not get all riled up
- 7:27Speaker 1: and screaming about Trump and hate Trump and get all
- 7:30Speaker 1: mad and angry with Colbert. Uh, so Byron Allen, I
- 7:34Speaker 1: remember when first, first week, he only had 600,000. Well,
- 7:37Speaker 1: he's now beating in the key demo, which is the
- 7:40Speaker 1: most important. He's beating Fallon. He's beating Kimmel. So that's
- 7:46Speaker 1: big news. You're seeing a turning point there. So, uh,
- 7:50Speaker 1: as they're getting ready to dump Kimmel, ABC might be
- 7:54Speaker 1: looking at something like that. Let's just go to old
- 7:56Speaker 1: fashioned comedy. So, um, um, President Trump also ran. There
- 8:02Speaker 1: was action over the weekend. We bombed Larrick Island, famous
- 8:10Speaker 1: Larrick Island, which is important strategically for Iran. So we
- 8:16Speaker 1: took that out. And the president putting up an AI
- 8:20Speaker 1: video of the blowing up of Karg Island, a little
- 8:23Speaker 1: threat that we might just get rid of Karg Island,
- 8:25Speaker 1: which is their whole economy, And if that goes, that
- 8:29Speaker 1: means Iran not only has no economy, but could not
- 8:33Speaker 1: possibly have one for another 10 years. That's how long
- 8:35Speaker 1: it would take to rebuild all of that. Karg Island
- 8:38Speaker 1: is their entire oil storage, oil facility, their oil depots.
- 8:42Speaker 1: When it comes to transporting oil and all that, it
- 8:45Speaker 1: comes from Karg Island. So without Karg Island, there is
- 8:48Speaker 1: no more oil industry in Iraq, Iran. Now, the Strait
- 8:53Speaker 1: of Hormuz has been open. It's definitely been open. We've had...
- 8:57Speaker 1: Something like 1,500 tankers come through there with many, many, many, many,
- 9:02Speaker 1: many millions of gallons of oil. So that's one reason
- 9:06Speaker 1: the price of oil has not spiked. It's gone up
- 9:08Speaker 1: a little, but there's no spike. Remember under Biden when
- 9:11Speaker 1: it was $ 110 a barrel? Right now, let me check.
- 9:17Speaker 1: It's gone up a hair. See, that's what I mean.
- 9:19Speaker 1: It just goes up just slightly. Right now, it is
- 9:24Speaker 1: $ 85 a barrel. Just up a little from what's normal. Hey,
- 9:28Speaker 1: you got Crazy Mom Donnie. We'll get to him coming up.
- 9:31Speaker 1: Kathy Hochul running against him, trying anything and everything. Do
- 9:37Speaker 1: you know that it was actually illegal to dance in
- 9:39Speaker 1: a restaurant in New York State? There was a law
- 9:43Speaker 1: against it. You're not allowed to dance in a restaurant.
- 9:45Speaker 1: It's an old law from the 20s or something. That
- 9:47Speaker 1: was a million years ago. So she's so desperate for
- 9:51Speaker 1: trying to score points in any possible way. She's repealed
- 9:55Speaker 1: that law. You can now dance in a New York
- 9:57Speaker 1: City restaurant. All right. So she gets Kevin Bacon. Somehow,
- 10:03Speaker 1: Kevin Bacon gets suckered into this, doing a commercial with her. Now,
- 10:08Speaker 1: this is the problem with Kathy Hochul. She's sometimes not
- 10:12Speaker 1: very self-aware, doesn't realize how goofy she looks, doesn't realize
- 10:16Speaker 1: how dopey she is. doesn't realize how lame this commercial sounds.
- 10:21Speaker 1: This is her and Kevin Bacon. Consultants convince them that
- 10:25Speaker 1: this is cute. This is wonderful. You see the consultants
- 10:28Speaker 1: make money on the commercial. If you need to make
- 10:31Speaker 1: a commercial, they get a part of the production cost.
- 10:34Speaker 1: And then you got to air it, which means you
- 10:36Speaker 1: got to buy time. They get a piece of the
- 10:38Speaker 1: time by. So consultants make a fortune. Campaign consultants make
- 10:43Speaker 1: all their money off commercials. So they'll convince you this
- 10:45Speaker 1: is a good idea. And when it's done, they'll say, wow,
- 10:48Speaker 1: it's powerful. It's great. Take a listen to it. New York,
- 10:51Speaker 1: did you know that for years, dancing was banned in
- 10:54Speaker 1: many bars and nightclubs?
- 10:55Speaker 2: Banned?
- 10:57Speaker 1: You mean it was illegal to dance? That's right, Kevin Bacon.
- 11:02Speaker 3: If I was to come into this club and wanted
- 11:04Speaker 3: to say salsa?
- 11:06Speaker 1: Nada. Macarena? Maca no-no. Whip?
- 11:09Speaker 3: Nay-nay.
- 11:10Speaker 1: The state used to demand you get a license to
- 11:11Speaker 1: allow dancing, but we tossed that rule out. What do
- 11:14Speaker 1: you say to that, Kevin? I say... Let's dance. Oh, God. Yeah,
- 11:23Speaker 1: keep running that. Bruce Blakeman will pay for you to
- 11:26Speaker 1: run that. He'll pay for the cost of running that ad.
- 11:29Speaker 1: That is embarrassing. That is one awful ad. Hey, now,
- 11:33Speaker 1: this is interesting. You know, the fake news just lies.
- 11:37Speaker 1: On NBC, CBS, ABC. I mean, yeah, they slant the
- 11:41Speaker 1: news to be anti-Trump. If there's anything anti-Trump, they report it.
- 11:46Speaker 1: If there's anything pro-Trump, they don't report it. If there's anything,
- 11:51Speaker 1: if the Democrats do something horrible, they never report it.
- 11:53Speaker 1: They never mention it. So you got the slant, but
- 11:55Speaker 1: they actually also out and out lie. They just make
- 11:59Speaker 1: up lies all the time. You remember Trump put kids
- 12:03Speaker 1: in cages? It's a total lie, complete lie. Well, I
- 12:06Speaker 1: saw the pictures of the kids in cages. They were
- 12:08Speaker 1: all from the Obama administration. He's the one that put
- 12:11Speaker 1: the kids in cages. They just lie about it. So
- 12:16Speaker 1: He's decided, President Trump, he's not wrong about this. This
- 12:19Speaker 1: might be a good idea. What do you do about it? Well,
- 12:22Speaker 1: all these TV networks own TV stations and they need
- 12:25Speaker 1: licenses to do that. And they're FCC licenses. And it
- 12:29Speaker 1: is a violation of FCC rules to go on the
- 12:32Speaker 1: air and just out and out lie. You're not supposed
- 12:35Speaker 1: to do that. So Kristen Welker, NBC, Meet the Press,
- 12:39Speaker 1: always broadcasting false information. is talking about the primaries and
- 12:45Speaker 1: how Trump endorsing candidates. Well, she said he had a
- 12:50Speaker 1: mixed record. Well, that's not true at all. He had
- 12:54Speaker 1: an incredibly successful record. Trump made 313 endorsements, had a 96%
- 12:58Speaker 1: success rate in GOP primaries, 100% success rate in GOP
- 13:03Speaker 1: Senate primaries, 98% success rate in the House primaries. He
- 13:16Speaker 1: had a hugely successful endorsement. So she's just lying when
- 13:19Speaker 1: she said it was mixed results, mixed results. Yeah, 98-2.
- 13:24Speaker 1: That's not that mixed. So President Trump has called for
- 13:28Speaker 1: the FCC to take action against her, which they can.
- 13:32Speaker 1: They can go after NBC if you deliberately broadcast false information.
- 13:36Speaker 1: And what do you do about this fake news, the
- 13:38Speaker 1: press totally conning people left and right? It's a dangerous
- 13:42Speaker 1: thing if it were on either side, trying to run
- 13:46Speaker 1: a democracy when you've got fake news, total fake news.
- 13:50Speaker 1: So about the only thing you can do about it
- 13:51Speaker 1: is just go after them for lies. Just get the
- 13:54Speaker 1: law to come in and enforce this and try to
- 13:56Speaker 1: stop them. Now, she's yelling and screaming, of course, but
- 14:00Speaker 1: she did lie. She was caught lying. Hey, I'll give
- 14:03Speaker 1: you another example. President Trump is not going to speak
- 14:07Speaker 1: at the 9-11 ceremony. He's not coming to New York.
- 14:11Speaker 1: He'll speak on 9-11 at the Pentagon. He'll be there
- 14:16Speaker 1: for that ceremony, but he's not coming to New York.
- 14:19Speaker 1: And you may have read, you may have heard, the
- 14:22Speaker 1: reason he's not coming is they wouldn't allow him to speak.
- 14:26Speaker 1: That's the reason, because they're not going to allow him
- 14:28Speaker 1: to speak. Well, that's fake news, total fake news. You
- 14:32Speaker 1: can credit Maggie Haberman and the New York Times for
- 14:35Speaker 1: a totally fake, ridiculous, completely made-up story. That's not true.
- 14:41Speaker 1: That's not the reason. And President Trump pointing that out,
- 14:45Speaker 1: calling her a stalker. She really is horrible, just makes
- 14:49Speaker 1: up stuff all the time. Now, the fact is, nobody
- 14:54Speaker 1: speaks at the September 11th ceremony at Ground Zero. No
- 14:58Speaker 1: politicians speak. Now, the first couple of years, there were
- 15:01Speaker 1: some politicians that spoke, but in 2012, it was decided
- 15:06Speaker 1: that never again would they have politicians or anybody speak.
- 15:09Speaker 1: They would only allow the family to speak. The families,
- 15:13Speaker 1: they didn't want to distract from them. So it was
- 15:15Speaker 1: all about the families. So for the last 14 years,
- 15:19Speaker 1: there had never been any speakers ever at Ground Zero
- 15:23Speaker 1: and 9-11. And Trump has been to many of those
- 15:26Speaker 1: 9-11 ceremonies. And he said, I've been there over the
- 15:29Speaker 1: years many times. No one ever speaks. There's no such
- 15:32Speaker 1: thing as making a speech there. So Haberman just made
- 15:36Speaker 1: that up, just completely made it up. It's totally false.
- 15:41Speaker 1: Trump posting, she's a stalker. She should be forced to
- 15:45Speaker 1: turn over any and all money that she's made through
- 15:48Speaker 1: her reporting on me. That's actually a pretty good idea.
- 15:51Speaker 1: She just made up this whole fake story. And again,
- 15:54Speaker 1: it's tough to run a democracy when you get all
- 15:56Speaker 1: this fake information being broadcast. So we got a lot
- 16:00Speaker 1: to get to. We'll get to Crazy Mom Donnie and
- 16:03Speaker 1: his schemes falling apart and a whole lot more. Mark
- 16:07Speaker 1: Simone here, 9 to noon. It's three hours now, 9 a.m.
- 16:10Speaker 1: to noon every weekday here on 710WOR.
