- 0:00Speaker 1: All start Toyota presents Off the Bench with Jacob Hester
- 0:04and Matt Flynn.
- 0:05Speaker 2: Okay, here we go where the.
- 0:07Speaker 1: Plays get broken down and science gets denied.
- 0:10Speaker 2: Got to come off the bench?
- 0:11Speaker 1: Hour two of Off the Bench Live from the Mercedes
- 0:14Benz Baton Rouge Studio starts.
- 0:16Speaker 3: Now, all right, welcome back again, Oh TV one, O
- 0:25four five, ESPN, Betton Ruge.
- 0:28Speaker 2: Hey, I'm that that sound when we come in there
- 0:30and that it's that guy that says seriously to come
- 0:33off the bench. Who is that?
- 0:36Speaker 4: I don't know?
- 0:36Speaker 2: Wait, I think I know is that because I can
- 0:39tell you I've always like listen to this. When I
- 0:41first listened to the show, I was like, that's that's
- 0:44Glenn Dorsey. No, I think it's is that Carmelo. It's
- 0:48a basketball player. It always sounded like him. I think
- 0:51it's Carmelo Anthony. Pretty sure. It sounds like should we
- 0:56get but to record something like them, it's not. I've
- 1:01always thought it.
- 1:01Speaker 3: Was Putt's playing golfing Calabasas even probably right now at
- 1:05six oh one, based on guy, I uld have love
- 1:14messing with Glenn. The story bombs Jeez. The story of
- 1:21Glenn Dorsey traveling for the first time. Is one of
- 1:25my absolute favorites. So he's from obviously he went to
- 1:28EA right down the road in Zalez.
- 1:30Speaker 2: Right.
- 1:32Speaker 3: He'd never been on an airplane before, just hed never,
- 1:35like never, He didn't take his official visits.
- 1:37Speaker 2: He was always l s U.
- 1:39Speaker 3: So the first time that he ever got on a
- 1:41plane was our first road trip at LSU. And when
- 1:44I say like, England's a large human, right, I mean, well,
- 1:47not anymore.
- 1:47Speaker 2: He lost a ton of weight, but.
- 1:48Speaker 3: I mean super tough, yest grinder, yeah right, the meanest,
- 1:54like nastiest, most feared guy in college football in two.
- 1:57Speaker 2: Thousand and seven, yep. But the sweetest human on.
- 2:00Speaker 3: My god, when I say this man was gripping on
- 2:05to each arm in his chair. He was so nervous
- 2:08to fly. I mean you could see the sweat. I mean,
- 2:11he looked like he had played a game. And he's
- 2:14like you know when somebody's nervous on a plane, they're
- 2:16like fully back, their arms are extended and they're just
- 2:20sitting there and they're staring kind of up because they're like,
- 2:22if I look anywhere else, I'm gonna I'm gonna lose everything.
- 2:24I'm gonna hurtle yep, and he was almost like a
- 2:27shade of green.
- 2:29Speaker 2: Yeah, he's always broken the arm rest.
- 2:32Speaker 4: He really did.
- 2:32Speaker 3: And so like you know, you would think, okay, well,
- 2:35his teammates are gonna comfort him, right, his teammates are
- 2:38gonna be like, hey man, it's okay, Like we've all
- 2:39flown before. It's not that big of a deal, Like
- 2:42we're gonna be fine to We're on this huge commercial airplane.
- 2:45It's chartered, Like this plane is going to get to
- 2:49wherever it needs to go, right, some would.
- 2:52Speaker 4: Do that, not us.
- 2:53Speaker 2: Yeah, you're in a plane full of your peers. So
- 2:59when there's blood in the water, yeah, the sharks.
- 3:03Speaker 3: So we go, and I mean we're taking off. And
- 3:07so when if you've never done it before and you're
- 3:10taking off, I mean you're picking them up and putting
- 3:12them down like you're going fast down the runway. Like
- 3:15everybody knows that now, like you're flying whatever. So it
- 3:17does that, and you can tell it's just he's about
- 3:19to pass out. Yeah, And so as as we go up, like.
- 3:24Speaker 2: Starting to notice that, everybody's starting to notice that he's
- 3:26gripping hard.
- 3:28Speaker 3: First the first like time you really just get up right, Well,
- 3:35two or three people behind Glenn Dorsey get his chair
- 3:39and they just start shaking it as hard as they
- 3:42possibly can, and you're like, oh my god, oh no,
- 3:44what's going and y'all he.
- 3:47Speaker 4: Loses it, just loses it.
- 3:49Speaker 3: Like panic, yelling, looking around, asking God for protection.
- 3:56Speaker 4: Oh my god.
- 3:57Speaker 2: I'll never get that image. Throughout the flight, he was
- 4:01in different positions of stress, taking off lane and backgrip,
- 4:05and there's multiple times where he was like he was
- 4:07leaning forward, like one hand on the headrest in front
- 4:11of him, one hand like on his thigh, like looking
- 4:14down like he like and he was like shaking almost right,
- 4:19and you know, you're wearing college and it's like, well,
- 4:22we start the descent and we're about to land. Hey Glenn,
- 4:26they say ninety nine percent of plane crashes happened when
- 4:29you land, then when you take off, Hey Glenn, ninety
- 4:33plane crashes happened when you take off. Oh my gosh,
- 4:36that's not a real stat stat. It's just meant this.
- 4:38Speaker 3: Oh it's so good. And somebody said, are those guys
- 4:42still alive? They are because I know for a fact
- 4:47that Melvin Oliver was one of them. Melvin large human being,
- 4:51he's he's a hell of player. I want to say
- 4:54Cal Williams was the other.
- 4:55Speaker 2: I mean, yeah, it was everybody right, like everybody's good.
- 5:01I mean, it's just it just happens. You get a
- 5:03bunch of don college kids together, it's just funny. In
- 5:07the NFL, we did the same thing.
- 5:09Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah, it's just funny that a guy like that
- 5:10had never flown before because he was like I'm saying
- 5:13it lsu N from down the road, right, I'm not
- 5:15gonna go on official visits.
- 5:16Speaker 2: And look, I hate I don't like fun either. I
- 5:18do it. I'm not a fan, do it quite a bit.
- 5:20I just would rather keep the old feet on the
- 5:22ground situation. I don't do small planes.
- 5:28Speaker 3: I've done them a couple of times, and every time
- 5:30I do.
- 5:30Speaker 2: A mike, what do you mean a small plane? I
- 5:32got like like a prop compeller. I'm really talking about
- 5:35almost anything.
- 5:37Speaker 3: Yeah, anything, any anything that you got to duck your
- 5:39head to get into, you know what I mean?
- 5:42Speaker 2: Yeah, I just you know, not a short fella. So
- 5:45there's been so many times we're in trouble and I
- 5:49feel like these airlines are squeezing another couple of rows
- 5:52of seats in these things.
- 5:54Speaker 3: Maybe they are tight like, you got to have more
- 5:56than ten seats for me to get on that thing. Look,
- 6:00I've done him. I've done the four seats, I've done
- 6:01the sixth. The first plane I ever got up in
- 6:05was an old World War two plane, which like it
- 6:08was just pilot in front of me and I'm in
- 6:11the back.
- 6:12Speaker 2: Yeah, like it's like an air show situation.
- 6:14Speaker 3: The first one like I ever got in it was
- 6:17it was awesome and it actually felt more safe in that.
- 6:18Speaker 2: Than right, like a like a little glider. Right. So
- 6:23we me and my buddy Josh sitting when we I
- 6:26can't remember what year it was, but we were playing
- 6:28in Green Bay and he's from Pisway.
- 6:29Speaker 3: Is this a guy that's that said T Bob was
- 6:31a complete liability.
- 6:32Speaker 2: Yes, Bingo in Vegas. Another story. We'll save it, we'll
- 6:37tease it. So we go down. He's from Pensacola, lives
- 6:42in Pensacola. Yeah, Blue Angel, Blue Angels. So we're like,
- 6:44all right, let's see off Seaton.
- 6:45Speaker 1: No.
- 6:46Speaker 2: I think it might have been July fourth, that's when
- 6:49the Blue Angels big show in Pensacola Beach, right, that
- 6:52is that Memorial Day of July. I think it's July fourth. Anyway,
- 6:56So he's like, hey, we got invited you. I want
- 6:58to come ride on the Fat Albert play with me.
- 7:00I'm my absolutely, Yeah, I don't want to ride on
- 7:04a fighter jet because I get like sick. I've seen
- 7:06the videos of people like black and Out for sure.
- 7:09Doesn't intrigue me. Yeah, it'd be a cool story, but like,
- 7:11you got to live through that.
- 7:12Speaker 3: Story first, and you're gonna throw up on yourself. You're
- 7:14gonna pass.
- 7:15Speaker 2: I'm a guy that gets like really motion sick. I
- 7:17have to I drive all the time. When people are going,
- 7:20I gotta sit in the front seat. If it's in
- 7:21the back, I got a baby tummy, all right, it's
- 7:23a baby tummy. Yeah, And that's you know, it's it's
- 7:27my cross the barrier here, you know. But I always
- 7:29get sick on everything. So I get off Fat Albert.
- 7:32And so the pilot's talking like these are these are
- 7:36fighter planets. They serve our country. They are the best
- 7:39pilots in the whole world. He's like talking about these
- 7:43When we do these fights, we work evasive maneuvers. So
- 7:46we were we take off, We're gonna take off like
- 7:49we are under fire, and Okay, yeah, and we're we're yeah,
- 7:54we're gonna place, we're gonna take off, So we're gonna
- 7:56take off really fast. Yeah, and we're gonna go straight up, right,
- 7:59because you gotta get up in the air. You got
- 8:00to get out of range of ye of what they're
- 8:04shooting at you. So so you do it. So we
- 8:06did this, and can I tell you we went straight
- 8:09up in the air and then you flatten out and
- 8:10you hit zero gravity for like two seconds. Yeah. But
- 8:15I've never felt safer than being on that plane because
- 8:19of like knowing the pilot, knowing they're like the greatest
- 8:22pilots in the whole entire world. Yeah. And then all
- 8:25of a sudden, we're sitting there and we're flying. We're
- 8:27kind of like tooling around waiting for the show. Then
- 8:29the then the fighter Jessica Blue angels like you go
- 8:33right past us, and so we're like flying over the
- 8:35beach in front of all the people. Yeah, like on
- 8:37this big ass plane. Yeah, and they're like, all right,
- 8:39these wings they're you know, they're one hundred feet long.
- 8:43He's like, and we're going to be flying about fifty
- 8:45foot over the over the ocean. I'm like that, I'm
- 8:49doing the math in my head, and I'm trying to
- 8:51like figure out the angles, like like what if what
- 8:54if you just a little gust of wind, maybe a
- 8:58rogue wave comes at us, Like what happens that point?
- 9:03What happened at that point? So all these things a
- 9:05really spinning in my mind. But I just say that
- 9:07the say like I felt more safe in that moment
- 9:11than I do taking off on Delta from Baton Rouge
- 9:16to the doll Or Batteries Atlanta with the one seat
- 9:19over here. I didn't call over here in the airline. Okay, yeah,
- 9:23you can't. Don't at me, Delta, that's all. You got
- 9:26to keep everything open.
- 9:27Speaker 3: In case Delta wants to sponsor the number seven morning
- 9:30radio show in the country.
- 9:33Speaker 2: After your number six, who was number six? We can
- 9:36look that up anyways, nobody knows because we were wondering.
- 9:44Speaker 3: True true, Well, I mean, you know, we're we're going
- 9:47to tell this story because you said that you saw
- 9:49it in a vision that gart Nessmeyer was going to
- 9:51be in New York for the Heisman ceremony. And so
- 9:54if that is the case, which is very very cool
- 9:58that I get to, you know, cover Army Navy every
- 10:00single year it's it's my favorite thing that I do
- 10:03because it's Army Navy, and I just can't.
- 10:07Speaker 2: I can't.
- 10:07Speaker 3: If you've never done it, I can't explain it. To
- 10:09do it justice, I can't. Everybody, everybody listening needs to
- 10:13go to Army Navy at least once in their lifetime.
- 10:15You just you have to do it. You need to
- 10:17do it. If you have kids, bring the kids. It
- 10:18is incredible.
- 10:20Speaker 2: I didn't even know that anybody could, just like I
- 10:24thought it was all service members that they could go.
- 10:26So anybody can.
- 10:27Speaker 3: Anybody Ticketmaster tickets, you can go it.
- 10:32Speaker 2: Matt Man.
- 10:32Speaker 3: It is chills thirty times over all. Right, So I
- 10:36get to do that every year. Very grateful. This year's
- 10:39in Baltimore, I believe. But the year that Jayden won
- 10:42the Heisman, it was in Boston. Well, if an LSU
- 10:47player makes it to the Heisman ceremony, serious exem sends me.
- 10:51I went with Joe, went with Jayden and the little
- 10:55peek behind the curtain because they know if they send me,
- 11:00I'm gonna see the player and we're gonna get an
- 11:02interview without having to spend the big bucks to get
- 11:05said interview. So I was doing Army Navy pregame show
- 11:12and we do it outside freezing cold, but still a
- 11:14lot of fun in Boston. And they were like, all right,
- 11:17we think he's gonna win, We're gonna send you up
- 11:20there same day, same day. So I go from doing
- 11:24Army Navy, I god already driven from as you know,
- 11:26you played there from Boston to Foxborough, right, so you
- 11:29make that track up there, and then from there after
- 11:32the game or after the pregame show. I had to
- 11:34get an uber because I had to go to Providence,
- 11:37Rhode Island to get on a train. Getting an uber
- 11:40was I mean, I'm I've got this suitcase walking through
- 11:43like all these people trying to go to get because
- 11:44I don't get to go to the game now because
- 11:46I got to go cover the Heisman. And so like
- 11:48I meet this this Uber driver and this random bass
- 11:51Pro parking lot, just like with all these people trying
- 11:54to get in, we're trying to get out. So I
- 11:56get in there and I get on train from Providence.
- 12:00Speaker 2: Rhode Island.
- 12:01Speaker 3: I go all the way to New York, a couple
- 12:04hour train drive. Again, I've got all my luggage from
- 12:06Army Navy, and so like I'm walking through the streets
- 12:10of New York, like all this luggage, trying to find
- 12:13my way to the ceremony. Now again, like we didn't
- 12:16really know if I was going to go, if I
- 12:17wasn't going to go, so didn't have a hotel room situation.
- 12:19So then I'm like, I call my boy Brandon Barrio
- 12:23who works for LSU.
- 12:24Speaker 2: He's there.
- 12:24Speaker 3: I'm like, hey, can I put myself in the room.
- 12:26Can I change real quick, get into a suit and
- 12:28hurry and get to the ceremony there. So I get
- 12:32to the ceremony like right as they're about to announce
- 12:36that Jaden's the winner. Right, So I'm like a little
- 12:39sweaty panic and you know, one of those you showered,
- 12:41but you're sweating more now because you showered. And then
- 12:44finally like you know, been on a train and doing
- 12:46other things. And so they changed up from how we
- 12:51did it when Joe won to how Jay And I'm like,
- 12:54I'm not gonna get this interview and they have sent
- 12:56me here. I've gone trains, I've gone you know, planes.
- 12:59I don't know there was a whole deal or whatever
- 13:02because they changed it up. And Jaden's mom sees me
- 13:07and was a p one of OTB and said, I
- 13:12love listening to you and T Bob in the morning.
- 13:14Y'all have always been fair to Jayden. We appreciate how
- 13:18y'all have always you know, brought me, you know, the
- 13:20whole deal.
- 13:20Speaker 2: And I'm like, oh, this is And so then this happened.
- 13:23Speaker 3: Jaden walks by his mom just because he's gonna go
- 13:26see his mom, and if that conversation wouldn't happen, I
- 13:29probably never get to interact and get everything set up.
- 13:33Speaker 4: We get the interview.
- 13:35Speaker 3: It's quick, it's like five minute interview, but it's like
- 13:37we were the only one that got an exclusive interview, right.
- 13:41It's because Jaden's mom was a p one OTB listener
- 13:44and he's so happened to be passing by then he
- 13:46saw me. I was like, hey, Jayden, dou can we
- 13:48go over? He's like, yeah, let's go knock it out.
- 13:50And the Heisman people are like right there, and you know,
- 13:54it's kind of like oh, because I'm a Heisman voter.
- 13:55So I'm like, I don't want this to get taken
- 13:57away either. I'm like, oh my god, sweaty, palm, sweaty.
- 14:00I'm donna get mad at me.
- 14:01Speaker 2: So Uh, they get taken away for I mean obviously
- 14:05if you don't forget you got a relationship with Yeah,
- 14:09I'm assuming that's what you're talking about, not because you
- 14:11got got a little special treatment that I guess because
- 14:15of the interview. But what do you.
- 14:17Speaker 3: Think that they you know, to get an exclusive at
- 14:19the ceremony with the Heisman Trophy winner, that typically cost
- 14:22a lot to get that access.
- 14:24Speaker 2: Yeah, So did Sirius end up just giving you that money? No?
- 14:28Speaker 3: And just you know, you get a pat on the
- 14:30back of being a great employee. You know, that's how
- 14:35you and that's how you leverage like relationships and like
- 14:38down the road if there's something you know, and that's
- 14:41when I.
- 14:41Speaker 2: Cashed it, that's when you cash it in catching those
- 14:43brownie points. Yeah, so that is pretty awesome though you
- 14:46got a I was I'd never been on train before,
- 14:48but you had got you had done the interview with
- 14:50Joe a couple of years. It was completely.
- 14:52Speaker 3: Different, completely like it was, and at that time I
- 14:55think the Heisman Trust wasn't like didn't do it the
- 14:58way they do it now. So like we access for
- 15:01being with series six M like hey, come in the
- 15:02back and I got Coacho and I got Joe and
- 15:06when it changed, we were all like, oh boy, this
- 15:08is gonna be So. I bring all that up to say,
- 15:11if your vision does come true, I'll be on a
- 15:14train from Baltimore to New York, carrying my luggage through
- 15:18the packed holiday times of New York City and we're
- 15:23gonna talk to the nust bus after he wins another
- 15:27Heisman trophy.
- 15:27Speaker 2: Friendly. You could probably interview me too. I'm sure. I'm
- 15:30sure Garrett will invite me for being like the original
- 15:34bus driver. Don't you think maybe I've talked to him
- 15:39like three four times, he'll probably invite me.
- 15:43Speaker 3: Even if he doesn't he think he knows like I'm
- 15:44the original bus driver. No, probably not, but but he
- 15:50is coming on the show pretty soon.
- 15:52Speaker 2: Perfect.
- 15:52Speaker 3: I've already had that conversation with him. And despite you
- 15:55being here, you say, still come.
- 15:57Speaker 2: On, okay man. That really pisses me off about that
- 16:00West Virginia player huss bus.
- 16:03Speaker 4: I knew it would.
- 16:04Speaker 3: God, when I saw that little nugget, I was like,
- 16:06I gotta.
- 16:07Speaker 2: Get see that guy. Hate him why he stole it? Yeah,
- 16:15it's like trademark infringement. Suiss.
- 16:23Speaker 3: When we come back, we're gonna talk about the bomb squad.
- 16:26Speaker 2: What's the bomb squad?
- 16:27Speaker 3: We'll tell you what it is and how long Flynn
- 16:28and I had to play it, and when we come
- 16:30back here on O t B. I got All Star

- 16:45that as well. We have seen that here in the streets,

- 17:41listening to off the Bench just the most locked in.
- 17:46Speaker 2: Locked in baby, the key to the talkers for a week,
- 17:54I guess the talk of Oh man, we should do
- 17:58like a contest in the chat. Who ever can create
- 18:03like the best one or two liners will make it
- 18:07an intro.
- 18:07Speaker 3: Ooh, that's actually a good idea, a great way to do.
- 18:13Speaker 4: Let's don't celebrate it.
- 18:14Speaker 3: It's a good idea to get you know, our listeners
- 18:17they're always engaged. But you know what I mean engagement
- 18:20with our listeners because you know, we do love the chat,
- 18:23love the interaction, love them watching every single day. We've
- 18:27got three hundred and sixty two watching live right now.
- 18:30So shout out to everybody inside the chat. But yeah,
- 18:33come up with some liners.
- 18:34Speaker 2: And I want to kind of like apologize to the
- 18:36chat too. Last two days we haven't been engaged or
- 18:39I haven't been engaged as much because the internet sucks.
- 18:43Speaker 3: It's bad, right, now it's brutal. The bad for you
- 18:45tatas are just us like Wi Fi.
- 18:47Speaker 2: No, what's bad for me?
- 18:48Speaker 5: Because the live stream and our software are on two
- 18:53different computers today because YouTube won't pull up on one
- 18:55of them.
- 18:55Speaker 2: So like I faid to Kanda? What who forgot to?
- 18:59The Internet's prety important these days for people to be
- 19:02hearing us right now, Like what's happening? Gordy forgot to
- 19:05pay the bill? You'd have loved it. So the week
- 19:10before Jake.
- 19:11Speaker 5: Was out, our laptops are me and Lodge's computers restarted
- 19:16like five times during the show, just restarted.
- 19:19Speaker 2: It's kind of like me during that library yesterday.
- 19:21Speaker 3: Should you short Circuited?
- 19:24Speaker 2: I was like one of the U was a film bot.
- 19:28Speaker 3: You remember Johnny in Austin Power that's too Yeah, that's
- 19:30a good one. You remember you remember the.
- 19:32Speaker 2: Movie Johnny you kidding me? Short Circuit?
- 19:34Speaker 4: Right?
- 19:35Speaker 2: Yeah? Yeah, it was the name of the movie. Yeah,
- 19:37what a great montage scene at the end where he jumps,
- 19:40he ramps and so good. They have no idea what
- 19:43we're talking about.
- 19:45Speaker 5: I've seen Short Circuit short I was probably like nine
- 19:48or ten.
- 19:49Speaker 2: Yeah, it's been a long time that movie is an
- 19:53absolute great a banger. Yeah it is.
- 19:59Speaker 3: What what's our Wi Fi? Through a company? If you
- 20:02say Cox, I'm gonna throw this down. You know, all right,
- 20:08what's your beef man? You've never seen you you You've
- 20:10sounded like you've been hurt. Well, I mean we all
- 20:13know Devin snow like in his fight with Cox. But
- 20:18I have so I have two different Wi fis in
- 20:20my home. One is is Cox Wi Fi for the
- 20:25boys and like the video games and everything, and then
- 20:27I have like an AT and T Fiber for my
- 20:29afternoon shows like that one can't mess up. And I
- 20:31have to have two different internets because the boys are
- 20:34doing something I can't get knocked off, right, and the
- 20:36AT and T is so much better than the COS
- 20:41and it got that fiber.
- 20:42Speaker 2: I'm just kind of lazy, and I need to change
- 20:43them both over AT, AT and T. You do like Wired?
- 20:47Speaker 4: I could do either on the eight and C fiber.
- 20:49Speaker 3: Yeah, I definitely did Wired because my original office where
- 20:53it was. But see, I have this daughter named Harlowe
- 20:57who said, Dad, that's my office Now, I'm like, yes, yes, whatever.
- 21:01So she's got a great WiFi in her room. It's
- 21:06like elite in her room.
- 21:08Speaker 2: So y'all got y'all, So y'all have to be plugged
- 21:11in because even at my office where I have the
- 21:13one computer, I got two computers in my office, one
- 21:15like runs the accounting software, and that has to be
- 21:17plugged in. Yeah, because it's just like four times faster. Yeah,
- 21:22oh yeah, for sure. Yeah.
- 21:24Speaker 3: All right, people about the Bomb Squad, and it's hard
- 21:29to judge a player based off of that.
- 21:33Speaker 4: And so what we mean in.
- 21:35Speaker 3: You know, it's it's like not hating on the players
- 21:37because we were part of it. But when I was
- 21:39a freshman, when I was a sophomore, I was I
- 21:43was lucky enough to be like the starting fullback, right,
- 21:46But if I wanted to get carries, like actual real
- 21:49carries at running back, it's gonna be with Flynn and
- 21:51the Bomb Squad.
- 21:52Speaker 2: Like we're all gonna be in there together, no doubt.
- 21:54Speaker 3: And you're playing against North Texas and it's like forty
- 21:57five to three, right, and there's about thirty thousand people
- 22:01left in the stadium.
- 22:03Speaker 2: Let's rip it. Let's rip it.
- 22:05Speaker 3: But also, let's don't judge this player off of this,
- 22:08because that is not the same situation as if you
- 22:12were to walk into that stadium at the time ninety
- 22:16two thousand, zero to zero score with I look up
- 22:21and you know, I've got Will Arnold, and Andrew Whitworth
- 22:26and Nate Livings and whoever whoever the offensive line were.
- 22:29When I go in there, it's I'm not gonna say names,
- 22:31but it's like ye walk on a walk on. Yeah,
- 22:37So it's different, and I do feel like people, you know,
- 22:40nuss Meyer probably one of them, you were one of them.
- 22:42Whoever the backup quarterback is, is going to be one
- 22:45of those guys that gets judged based off that situation
- 22:49when in reality it's not related to whoever the starter is.
- 22:54Speaker 2: So one of the worst experiences quarterback. I'm gonna say
- 23:01it from a quarterbacks perspective, but for everybody is getting
- 23:05thrown in the game at the end when the game's
- 23:07already been decided, whether it's whether you're winning or whether
- 23:10you're losing. If the game's been decided, you do not
- 23:13want to go in because you know I you know
- 23:15that there is an eye in the sky and it
- 23:18is filming everything you're doing, so you're putting game film
- 23:22on tape, and you don't want that game because you
- 23:27don't want to go in the game, like you've been
- 23:28sitting there for three or four hours, your ice cold,
- 23:32your mind's not in the game anymore because like y'all
- 23:34been destroying this team the whole time, so you're barely
- 23:36even like listening anymore. You're cold. You go in the
- 23:40game and you're like, man, just like, don't make me
- 23:43throw the ball. I don't want to do it. I
- 23:45don't want to be judged right now. I hadn't prepared,
- 23:47I hadn't taken a snap. We took some scout team
- 23:49reps right all week.
- 23:50Speaker 4: That's actually another great point.
- 23:51Speaker 2: You took some scout ting reps. I emulated the other quarterback.
- 23:56So like when US two years ago and Jaden was
- 23:59a senior, he went in and he didn't look great, right,
- 24:01he didn't look great during his mop up time, and
- 24:04you get judged. So you shouldn't judge if you go
- 24:07out and look really good. So you brought up North Texas.
- 24:09We went in North Texas. I think I threw three
- 24:11touchdowns in the fourth quarter mop up duty. Yeah, you
- 24:14shouldn't judge me by that game. And oh, this guy's
- 24:16the greatest ever. Yeah, I never thought that about you. Well, obviously,
- 24:19but I think the same year or maybe as the
- 24:21next year we're going into we're playing Missipi State at home.
- 24:23I think it was a Jefferson pile again. Oh it
- 24:26was hotter than hot, harder than was that two thousand
- 24:31It was two thousand and five or six? It was
- 24:33six because I was playing running back. You're right, all right,
- 24:35So this is after like the year before i'd played well,
- 24:38played in the Peach Bowl blob. So yeah, yeah, asmar
- 24:41as the last year, we're beating the breaks off Mississippi State.
- 24:45And then there's this one play. For like three years,
- 24:49I've told Jim Bow I don't like this play. I
- 24:51don't like this play. I don't like this play. It's
- 24:53called razor rub. The stupidest play in the history of
- 24:55the world. I knew exactly, okay, was like a spread
- 24:59out to the right way, was like spread out to
- 25:00the least razor rub and it was just like this
- 25:02little rub play and he goes to the flat because
- 25:04I'll see you all the time, like the hardest boat
- 25:06for people to make. The quarterback to make someone wide open,
- 25:09and a throw that like you're gonna look stupid if
- 25:11you miss it. Razor rub from underneath the center too.
- 25:15Not even a gun take it. So you have to
- 25:17like you have to like make a big arc, get
- 25:20to your like fifth step and throat. And I hate
- 25:21the play. Well, get in the game, run the ball
- 25:25two times in a row, third and three or four.
- 25:30I'm looking over the sile of the signals and I
- 25:32see y'all listening Razor like raizor your face and then
- 25:39rubbing my hands together, and I'm like mother water yeah,
- 25:44and I'm like, god, I'm the backup. I can't change
- 25:47the play. No, I'm not like Jameis Winston out there.
- 25:51I did the hot and I'm like and they can
- 25:52see the panic in my face. Razor rub got it down,
- 25:57set hut pick six. It was a big six. So
- 26:03I get on the I get to the sideline. I
- 26:05believe it's a pixis checking all that. And we were
- 26:07like in our own territory too.
- 26:09Speaker 4: Mm.
- 26:11Speaker 2: I walked back. I walked back. I jogged to the sideline.
- 26:14Then I walked to the bench and I sit down
- 26:18and you hear the phone's ringing the sideline. It was Jimbo. Yeah,
- 26:24oh god, he let me have real good you know what.
- 26:28The worst part is yes, win the next series went
- 26:33in the game, but the starter.
- 26:35Speaker 4: Back in the game, that's not that's never good.
- 26:39Speaker 3: I mean you you were probably in there's probably you,
- 26:43Mick Cole at tight end, probably j Mitch and Chris
- 26:46Mitch a receiver. And that's so that's one of the
- 26:49combinations of Chuck Scott and Keelan.
- 26:51Speaker 2: What made Jimbo just such like a unicorn of a
- 26:55coach is he could get after you blah blah blah.
- 26:59And I always said that about It's like he would
- 27:01put a string of cuss words together that like didn't
- 27:03blow your mind. But then he'd put his arm around
- 27:06you while you're walking off the field. He would so
- 27:09lit me up. Then I went back in the game
- 27:11after JaMarcus went in there blah blah blah. But after
- 27:13the game he looks at me, he's like he laughs,
- 27:16He's like Raisor Rev. Yeah you He's like, yeah, like
- 27:24you know what, Yeah, I can't get rid of that
- 27:29film I ever in my life.
- 27:30Speaker 3: I cannot wait to bring up Razor Rub with him
- 27:33next time because we always thirty five pin Indy and
- 27:37all all these plays Razor Rub, you knew it?
- 27:42Speaker 2: Who was who was doing the signals?
- 27:43Speaker 4: Was it? Uh? Was it?
- 27:45Speaker 2: Oh? What do you have been? Tracy?
- 27:48Speaker 4: What are you?
- 27:49Speaker 2: Tracy? Tracy was definitely five, was he? I don't know.
- 27:53Speaker 3: Tracy's like a big time NFL coach now and what
- 27:55he's a head coach at Morehead State.
- 27:57Speaker 2: Tracy Smith who his dad was Carl Smith, a K tater. Yeah,
- 28:00it was my quarterback coach and Seattle one of the
- 28:01greatest humans. Yeah, Tracy is great too. He was a
- 28:04Seattle too, wasn't he. That's something? Yeah?
- 28:06Speaker 3: Yeah, all right, Uh, Anthony Ronado is going to join us.
- 28:09We're gonna talk baseball. We're gonna talk trading cards because well,
- 28:12Flynn got me into this, and now I've got to
- 28:14figure out a way to ask somebody better questions because
- 28:16Flynn never has the answers.
- 28:17Speaker 4: We'll do it when we come back here on OTV.
- 28:20Speaker 3: Off the bench, all right, go to Boudres Electrical dot
- 28:23com man. They've been in this game for over forty years,
- 28:26and we always tell you there's never like a bad
- 28:29time to have that peace of mind. But right now
- 28:32it's the best time.
- 28:33Speaker 2: All right.
- 28:33Speaker 3: Storm season is a coming, and the last thing that
- 28:36you want here in this heat is to be without power. Now,
- 28:40there's obviously other inconveniences. Right, You're not able to cook,
- 28:44you're not able to do the things that you do daily.
- 28:46But you don't want to be in the hot box,
- 28:48the last thing.
- 28:49Speaker 4: That you want to do.
- 28:49Speaker 3: So if you have that whole home generator from Boudro's,
- 28:52as soon as that power goes out, boom it kicks in.
- 28:55You've got your AC, you've got everything. Everything that you
- 28:58normally would have will be available thanks to Boudros. So
- 29:01go to the website again, that's Boudros Electrical dot Com.
- 29:05Speaker 2: Yeah, this lead into a hurricane season. This is gonna
- 29:07be the most unpredictable hurricane season of all time. You
- 29:11know what that because it's the first hurricane season in
- 29:15the Gulf of America. Okay, get prepared. Called Boudros.
- 29:38Speaker 1: Locked in on LSU Football twenty four to seven. You're
- 29:41listening to Off the Bench.
- 29:44Speaker 3: Uh, definitely not locked in LSU football here in this segment.
- 29:47That is not what we're going to talk about. Big voice,
- 29:49Lady Anthony Ornado is joining us right now, so we're
- 29:52gonna talk baseball. We're gonna talk trading cards because well,
- 29:56Anthony Flynn got me deep in this deal.
- 29:59Speaker 4: It's his fall. No matter what happens, it is all
- 30:02on him.
- 30:02Speaker 2: And I think, you know, you're gonna blame my kid
- 30:04on this one.
- 30:05Speaker 4: That's a that's a heavy disclaimer because you could get
- 30:07deep into this and he yeah, ugly, don't let him
- 30:10blame you don't.
- 30:11Speaker 2: Accept don't accept that liability. Okay.
- 30:14Speaker 4: Actually, since you blame Huck, I'm gonna blame Hunk too.
- 30:17Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm gonna play Houck. And then I'm gonna blame
- 30:21guys over cards and cultures too. We went over there,
- 30:25I brought my son. I was like, we'll just go
- 30:26get a pack of cards. I did baseball cards. We
- 30:29went over there, it gets a deck of We get
- 30:32a box of cards like the Rookies and Stars. The
- 30:35first time out shut your mouth. And then he pulls
- 30:40like some really cool like lading the Donkey, like autographed
- 30:43patch card and yeah yeah, Like my son's like, oh,
- 30:49that's so cool. Then all the guys that were working there,
- 30:52they were so fired up, and it was like I
- 30:54was like all right, so like it's like what does that?
- 30:58What does that mean? Yeah? What does this mean? It
- 31:00might be worth you know, hundred bucks or whatever. It is,
- 31:03and I'm like, it might be worth a hundred bucks,
- 31:07all right, I like, not bad. I'm in. Okay, We're
- 31:11kind of in. So after that point we started doing
- 31:14a little bit more. Then we start we created like
- 31:16a little like a little father son business about we
- 31:19love the little eBay account, sell a couple of cards,
- 31:22some singles sell it for more. How old is he?
- 31:24He's nine? Okay.
- 31:26Speaker 4: See this is literally why one of them I told
- 31:28you this. You came into the shop with your boys.
- 31:29Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 31:30Speaker 4: One of my favorite things when I started the shop
- 31:32was really teaching kids about business economics and like it
- 31:35was like one of business one on one right, supplying
- 31:38kid gets excited about a one dollar Yannis card and
- 31:41he's like it's Yannis It's and You're like, hey, buddy,
- 31:43let me teach you about people don't want this card
- 31:45so it's not worth that much, right, like, and you
- 31:47have to And that's basically what you're doing. You're using
- 31:49these cards to teach them that. It was like one
- 31:51of the coolest things that I realized we were doing
- 31:53in the shop too.
- 31:54Speaker 2: Yeah, and that's kind of why we kept going. And
- 31:57we set up like the little account on to sell
- 32:00card because We had been talking for a couple of
- 32:02months about doing He's nine, his sisters his sister's seven
- 32:06and four. Weird think about doing like a lemonade stand.
- 32:09And I'd already talked him everything about like here's your
- 32:11cost of goods for the lemonade, powder, the water, the ice,
- 32:15like everything you gotta you know, it costs taxes on
- 32:17business those part of things. And I was like, well,
- 32:19I can do the same thing, but we can also.
- 32:22Speaker 4: Rip some cards and have fun. And it's literally the best.
- 32:25It's like you get to be a kid again. And
- 32:27that's but at the same time, right, You're like, hey, buddy,
- 32:29I know you sold this card for twenty but we
- 32:30paid ten dollars for it. You see the shipping label.
- 32:33That costs money too. We had to drive to the
- 32:35post office, right buddy. Right, Yeah, that's right, cost gas,
- 32:39cost money.
- 32:39Speaker 2: To get there. Right.
- 32:40Speaker 3: So yeah, it's good, oh man, But you're right, though,
- 32:43there's not a better feeling. Like he's got me on
- 32:44these live breaks and I'm like, Betty, you know, auctioning
- 32:47for this team or whatever, and like you had this
- 32:49team that nobody wanted and you're just like hoping, like okay,
- 32:52nobody thought this team was.
- 32:53Speaker 2: Going to have something.
- 32:54Speaker 3: Now I got the Tennessee Titans, and oh my gun,
- 32:55there's like a warn moon there the Titans.
- 32:58Speaker 4: I know that you can't fool me. They didn't go
- 33:00to the Texans. How deep are you in it? Like
- 33:02are you checking checklists before you get into breaks? Because
- 33:04that's when you really know you're starting to one get
- 33:07a little bit more advanced, but also getting to be
- 33:08a little bit.
- 33:09Speaker 2: Better than just like the checklists of like what that
- 33:11brand has.
- 33:14Speaker 3: Because step that I'm at right now, we're starting that
- 33:17price a little bit.
- 33:18Speaker 2: I'm a little bit ahead of take a little So.
- 33:21Speaker 4: That's when you really start getting into it, is you're
- 33:23like to your point, right, wait this tops chrome product.
- 33:27Ken Griofy Junior signs in, so wait, yeah, the Mariners
- 33:31spot should be this right. Oh wow, this place doesn't
- 33:34know that, like and you go and grab that spot
- 33:36right right, because like right now we're you know, we're
- 33:38doing football. We're big meatheads and so we're doing football
- 33:41and it's like, you know, the Commanders and the Patriots
- 33:43and like they're gonna be big dollar Broncos.
- 33:46Speaker 3: But it's like okay, yeah, but the Bucks got a
- 33:48couple of rookies. The Chargers got a couple of rookies.
- 33:50They're going to kind of be in the mid level there,
- 33:52but maybe you'll get a Herbert or maybe you'll get
- 33:54a Baker because they got that available here too. It's like, man,
- 33:57I didn't I didn't realize all the science, like the
- 34:00things that kind of go into science.
- 34:02Speaker 4: Yeah. I call it calculated risk because like really, to
- 34:06your point, right, you could chase a rookie and they
- 34:09even though maybe the quarterbacks signed eight autographs in that
- 34:12product for some reason, so that actually team should be
- 34:15worth more.
- 34:15Speaker 2: That's when it gets super fun.
- 34:16Speaker 4: I always call it calculated risk, so you can just
- 34:18break up and figure out what you want to collect,
- 34:20where your value is, and then go.
- 34:22Speaker 2: From It's kind of like another way to scratch the
- 34:24like this the gambling. It's a little bit I mean
- 34:27like ripping a absolutely, I tell you what, speculated risk
- 34:30is a good way to put it.
- 34:34Speaker 3: You never lose, and you're at least holding something like
- 34:39sports betting, like you know me, like I'll certainly dabble
- 34:42on sports betting. Dude, I haven't, like I don't even
- 34:44haven't picked up in a walk.
- 34:45Speaker 2: So I'm like.
- 34:47Speaker 4: Like it does, and it really is. Did you see
- 34:51our new set piece? I did notice how much stuff
- 34:55you guys have up here.
- 34:56Speaker 2: But found this baby. Wow.
- 35:00Speaker 4: Wow.
- 35:01Speaker 2: Okay, do you guys remember signing these because these are
- 35:06not stickers, these.
- 35:06Speaker 4: Are on card right, Yeah.
- 35:08Speaker 3: I mean I don't remember, like specifically, maybe that one,
- 35:11but I don't remember.
- 35:12Speaker 2: I remember signing like I remember. I remember.
- 35:16Speaker 3: I was so when I was training out in Arizona
- 35:18at Api and Timpe. I remember them coming to UH
- 35:22to the apartment and sign them. I remember going to
- 35:24places like, hey, if you sign all of these, you
- 35:26get a free TV. It's like a thirty two inch TV.
- 35:29I'm like, oh my god, oh yes, I'm in college.
- 35:33Thirty two inch flat it is a flat screen. Right
- 35:36when we had it was all the big boxes. I
- 35:38was like, yeah, like i'll do it. I'll do it
- 35:40right now. So I definitely remember. And then people come
- 35:43to your house and then watching you because they want
- 35:44to make sure you're signing up.
- 35:45Speaker 2: But that was one thing that people like. So when
- 35:47you get like the Jersey patches less like when they
- 35:49come to your house and watch you sign, So you
- 35:51sit there and sign four thousand stickers whatever, it is
- 35:53and it got from upper at the time, like upper back,
- 35:56top whatever it is. But then they're like, all right,
- 35:58here's like twenty jerseys. Just put them on. I'm talking about.
- 36:00Speaker 4: That's the crazy. That is crazy, they say. Nowadays they
- 36:04just make guys put them all on at once, like
- 36:07eighty of them and then take them all off and
- 36:08then their game play exactly.
- 36:13Speaker 3: That was.
- 36:13Speaker 2: That was pretty wild.
- 36:14Speaker 3: That is I'm like, our cellonies is like, warn like,
- 36:17what did you wear them?
- 36:18Speaker 4: Like, yeah, okay, yeah, we are what we're doing. Oh
- 36:23my gosh, what do you brought in? Like I'll have
- 36:25to show you. So that that's the difference.
- 36:26Speaker 2: I have a I have a really cool Victor.
- 36:30Speaker 4: H is just perked up my heart. Actually, just look
- 36:37at that eight. So this one's really cool. This is
- 36:39by a company. I gotta shout out the company. It's
- 36:41called Vaulted. So they actually you can see they put
- 36:43my little you know, signature on my name and everything,
- 36:46and the other one has my little like social media
- 36:48handle and these are like.
- 36:49Speaker 2: Spots I can.
- 36:52Speaker 4: It's like it's like a fish you can put like
- 36:54cards in the fronts or whatever.
- 36:58Speaker 2: That's cool. I just set my first like group of
- 37:01cards to get great and let's go, who'd you send
- 37:04it to us? A nice?
- 37:06Speaker 4: Is there a like companies?
- 37:08Speaker 3: I was about to say, like, is there one that
- 37:10like you prefers or one better than the other.
- 37:12Speaker 4: So PSA is kind of the gold standard and it
- 37:15kind of commands the most market value.
- 37:18Speaker 2: But you see this one.
- 37:18Speaker 4: The reason I want to show you guys that one
- 37:20says it's from his debut game, like his acuah, it's
- 37:24actually yeah, that's a game warn from a specific So
- 37:27basically you might one hold onto this puppet. This one's
- 37:30probably a couple of thousand dollars right now or something
- 37:32like that. But that game used and it's from a
- 37:35specific game. So if you like look at Lebron James's
- 37:37history and this this is where we go. Why I
- 37:39say it's calculated risk, right because I look at it
- 37:41as like an actual alternative investment, the same way you
- 37:44would invest in real estate or jewelry or art, right
- 37:47other things like Lebron James's game used Rookie patch Jersey.
- 37:52Right now, that's an autograph numbered out of twenty three
- 37:54because it was Upper Deck Exquisite. It was like six set, right,
- 37:57it's like one hundred grand yeah literally, right, So like
- 38:00that's the kind of stuff that holds value over time, right,
- 38:02and I'm hoping that his career Victor Lebron to work,
- 38:05Yeah exactly, and if it does, that card could be
- 38:08something like that now again in twenty years, like the
- 38:10value of the dollar, right and all that stuff.
- 38:11Speaker 2: Right, but still that's a really good appreciation.
- 38:13Speaker 3: In fifteen years, Anthony's gonna come do the show and
- 38:16he's gonna have that same case handcuff.
- 38:18Speaker 2: Though. Have you seen the way they.
- 38:20Speaker 4: Deliver some of these cards down It's like brins trucks
- 38:22and like security.
- 38:23Speaker 2: Like you have to like Paul that's got a Pokemon
- 38:25on a necklace. Ye, right. With Anthony's answer, I don't
- 38:28think he liked that necklace very much. It was just
- 38:31the industry just gets that.
- 38:32Speaker 4: So like you know, actually like the Paul's do anything
- 38:34and it's like it's lights and igniter on things, and
- 38:36it's like now people think that values are inflated when
- 38:40they're not and all.
- 38:41Speaker 2: That, you know.
- 38:41Speaker 4: All right, last one before we get to a break
- 38:45and certainly hit up some LSU baseball, I've got a
- 38:48question from Abo inside of the chat.
- 38:50Speaker 3: What's the most expensive card? You've ever held in your hand.
- 38:54Speaker 4: I actually did get to hold the Paul Schemes one
- 38:56of one debut patch. That's right, I actually sell the videos.
- 38:59Tops flew me up there. It was Yeah, they flew
- 39:02me up to the vault and they wanted me to
- 39:03do some marketing around it. So yeah, I got some
- 39:06cool pictures and held it, went into the vault and everything.
- 39:08Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 39:09Speaker 3: Did you think about running for a little bit? You know, no,
- 39:15because it was weird in Oregon.
- 39:16Speaker 4: I was like and like, I would have never got far,
- 39:19So I didn't think about it. But I was like,
- 39:21this can't be the act this is and they told
- 39:23me that it's underground and like I was like this
- 39:26is Like there was good stuff there, but it wasn't
- 39:28like the high end, high end stuff.
- 39:31Speaker 2: What did that card end up selling for? Yeah? When
- 39:34one one point one?
- 39:35Speaker 4: I think Dix in Pittsburgh, right, Dix bought it. Yeah,
- 39:39okay for their new their new launch. I don't know
- 39:42if you've seen, like they're like it's like a new
- 39:44like brand that they're doing, like this like forward facing thing,
- 39:47but they have a big collectible section now.
- 39:49Speaker 2: It's like that was like their big splash.
- 39:51Speaker 3: Maybe they can buy the pirates and players, so Paul
- 39:53Schemes doesn't go like eight and give up one and
- 39:56run and came up.
- 40:00Speaker 4: Maybe that can happen.
- 40:02Speaker 3: All right, We'll take a break some ELSU baseball with
- 40:04Anthony when we come back here on OTV.
- 40:07Speaker 4: Off the bench or go to pelicanroof dot com.
- 40:09Speaker 3: Pelicanroof dot com is the website and right when you

- 41:06eight two eight sixty.
- 41:06Speaker 1: Five, two thousand and seven Champs Purple and Gold to
- 41:26the core. This is off the bench with Hester and Flynn.
- 41:30Baton Rougees go to for all things Louisiana sports.
- 41:35Speaker 3: All right, and welcome back in ot B LSU hosting
- 41:39West Virginia in a super regional and well the regional
- 41:43had all the drama.
- 41:44Speaker 2: It was actually fantastic.
- 41:45Speaker 3: Shout out to Little Rocker one more time for coming
- 41:47in here and playing their butts off. But the goal
- 41:51was to have a super regional here in Baton Rouge
- 41:54Obviously last year got really really close. What happened down
- 41:57there or up there in Chapel Hill. You know you
- 42:00you're a couple outs away, so you wanted to get
- 42:02back to that point. This year they do and look,
- 42:05I know this team had to fight, scratch and claw
- 42:07to get out of the regional. But that little rock
- 42:10team and we see it every year, they got hotter
- 42:12than hot at the end, and they had true belief.
- 42:15And so again shout out to them. But that's not
- 42:17to say, in my opinion, Lease Anthony, that LSU's limping
- 42:20into this super regional.
- 42:22Speaker 2: Not at all.
- 42:23Speaker 4: I think you guys know this right, when a team
- 42:25is hot and when the energy is right in a
- 42:28stadium and they come into a stadium and the fans
- 42:30are on their heels a little bit right, like they
- 42:32turned they almost turned a double play on Stanfield and
- 42:35like the fourth or fifth inning, and I was like,
- 42:36that was a major league double play attempt on like
- 42:39not an easy ball in the whole that short stuff
- 42:42played like he was the best short stuff right and
- 42:45centerfielder did it too. They got at too much. They
- 42:47got that hit five hundred or whatever he was about
- 42:49in two forty on the year seven bolts Like he's
- 42:52not a great hitter. I'm not trying to hate on him,
- 42:54but yeah, these dudes were playing great. So no, I
- 42:56say LSU had a tough go at it right with
- 43:00a great team at the time, So I think they battled.
- 43:02I think it showed what this team is capable of
- 43:04they can win close games, they can be battle tested, right,
- 43:07and they can do what they need to do.
- 43:08Speaker 2: And I think the pitching just speaks for itself.
- 43:10Speaker 3: So does that pitching set up better for a super
- 43:12regional than it does a regional when you have the
- 43:15best one to two punch in America?
- 43:17Speaker 4: Absolutely, yeah, that's and that's the best thing, right is
- 43:19you got your Friday night ace to go out there
- 43:21and hopefully you win that game. And either way, right,
- 43:24if you lose that one, you have one A, one B,
- 43:27whoever it is, in that next game. And if you're
- 43:29if you've won, you got your best pitcher on the
- 43:31mat or one of your best pitchers.
- 43:32Speaker 2: To go close that out. Yeah, absolutely for sure.
- 43:34Speaker 3: And then something else we were talking about is if
- 43:36you get to a game three situation, we all were
- 43:40in the belief that Cason Evans would start the game.
- 43:42You go with that count and he's got experience on
- 43:44Friday nights and he's been in big games, didn't have
- 43:47his best stuff, hasn't had his best stuff in a while.
- 43:50But Cason Evans coming in in the way that he
- 43:51shut the door out, I mean that was electric. So
- 43:54if you get to a game three. What do you
- 43:56think happens now compared to what happened in the regional Well, it.
- 44:00Speaker 4: Also kind of worked, So I mean, I know that
- 44:03we got the way right, so, like the dude had
- 44:05a legendary performance, so maybe we.
- 44:07Speaker 2: Just do that, right.
- 44:08Speaker 3: I know we started talking in circles earlier in the show,
- 44:10but that's what I'm the same way.
- 44:12Speaker 4: I'm like, I was questioning it too, and and then
- 44:14you know, I'm like, all right, well he probably went
- 44:16with Cohen exactly for your reason, right, like experience as
- 44:18a starter, he probably was gonna you knew he was
- 44:21gonna throw more strikes and after the game before, when
- 44:23you had that three nothing lead and then you walk
- 44:24guys and give that let them back in the game.
- 44:27I'm sure that's what Jay was going for. So but
- 44:29I think Caseon Evans has proved that he is a
- 44:32dude like he can be a number one starting pitcher,
- 44:35like he can. That set him up for next year.
- 44:37I think, you know, to be our Friday guy. So
- 44:38we want him to start feel good about him starting Sunday.
- 44:41But he comes out of the pen like he did. Yeah,
- 44:44I mean, we got options. So the kids lecture.
- 44:46Speaker 2: Yeah, when he came, everything changed the feel I watched
- 44:49it from telling like the feeling my house changed like
- 44:52when he came. So I can imagine what it was
- 44:53in the stadium, Like from your experience, can you if
- 44:57you're that good coming out of the pen, can you
- 44:59emulate that energy as a starter the same way?
- 45:04Speaker 4: And yeah, and I think at the college level too,
- 45:06it's it's a little bit more appropriate because like there's
- 45:08just everything matters so much more than the big leagues
- 45:11and stuff like that. Right when you're just like, all right,
- 45:12we got one hundred and sixty two games. I'm doing
- 45:14this every five days like you can. So I think
- 45:17you saw that. And he changed the energy of the
- 45:19game by his pace, his tone. You saw he was
- 45:22waiting on the mountain. He's like, give me the ball back,
- 45:23and they were trying to slow the game down. You
- 45:25could feel it if he's like, I want to get
- 45:27you guys back in the dugout to get this going
- 45:29and keep this crowd into it.
- 45:30Speaker 3: So yeah, he just got to have that same mentality
- 45:32as a starter. All Right, I don't know your schedule.
- 45:33Can you stick around one more segment?
- 45:35Speaker 2: Nothing else to do? All right?
- 45:36Speaker 3: Well, we are hanging for one more segment. We're actually
- 45:38gonna bring back a segment that I love as well.
- 45:40Would you rather Wednesday? It's gonna be a sports edition.
- 45:43Flynn's sweating already, knowing he's got to come.
- 45:45Speaker 2: Up with a question. I can't get come up with
- 45:47the questions.
- 45:48Speaker 3: Jeez, it's our radio show, that's gpt ay.
- 45:53Speaker 2: He's already gotta pulled up.
- 45:55Speaker 3: So you're gonna hear from Chat GPT from Flynn when
- 45:57we come back on the bench.
