- 0:32[SPEAKER_02]: What's up everybody, welcome to another episode of Scouting Thin's right here on the Threat Precary Podcast.
- 0:37[SPEAKER_02]: Now we're all support by the five reasons sports network.
- 0:41[SPEAKER_02]: This week, the Miami Dolphins made a really big trade that has a big ripple effect throughout the NFL and the NFL draft.
- 0:50[SPEAKER_02]: Jalen Waddle was traded to the Denver Broncos for a first round pick,
- 0:55[SPEAKER_02]: a third-round pick and a fourth-round pick swap to the Denver Broncos.
- 1:02[SPEAKER_02]: Obviously today's episode we're not going to be talking about the wide receiver group, but in the future we will have a wide receiver draft episode coming through coach Quick Thoughts on Jailum Model being traded.
- 1:17[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I think that it made sense for the team.
- 1:21[SPEAKER_00]: Love Jailum Model is a player as a person.
- 1:24[SPEAKER_00]: but with where the dolphins are right now and what the bronchers were offering there, that move made a lot of sense.
- 1:29[SPEAKER_00]: And I do think there is some relevance to today's conversation as well because that brings the dolphins up to 11 draft picks in next month's draft.
- 1:38[SPEAKER_00]: And obviously when you have more draft picks, it provides you the opportunity to double down on a couple more positions.
- 1:45[SPEAKER_00]: And interior offensive linemen could be a great place for the dolphins to consider drafts on a couple of them this year.
- 1:52[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, we was June model the best definitely going to miss him and his production the last five seasons.
- 1:59[SPEAKER_02]: But today's episode we're talking about interior offensive lime in the guards and the centers.
- 2:04[SPEAKER_02]: And as always, we're talking about the thresholds, the data, the film, and then the analysis of it.
- 2:09[SPEAKER_02]: So for John Eric Sullivan and Jeff Hathley, going back to what the Green Bay Packers valued in their organization with philosophy from where, you know, Sully comes from.
- 2:19[SPEAKER_02]: You're looking at just over, you know, interior alignment that are above six, three above six, four, over three hundred and 13 pounds have over 33 inch arms.
- 2:33[SPEAKER_02]: Run just a sub five, five second 40, our dash.
- 2:39[SPEAKER_02]: Their 10-yard split is under 1.8 seconds.
- 2:44[SPEAKER_02]: The three cone is under 7.7 seconds.
- 2:49[SPEAKER_02]: Just again, we're looking at some offense of guards and interior linemen and Bobby Slobuk scheme that are athletic, that are versatile, have big arms and can run up to the second level.
- 3:06[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I think that when we're talking about Lyme and both for John Erick Sullivan and Bobby Slullock, it kind of feels almost opposite.
- 3:13[SPEAKER_00]: So you've got to find something in the middle there.
- 3:15[SPEAKER_00]: Bobby Slullock is running the Y zone outside zone stuff.
- 3:19[SPEAKER_00]: So you know you want some more athletic Lyme and in that scheme, but at the same time, John Erick Sullivan stood up there in front of the fans and you told you that when it gets cold, fast gets slow, but big doesn't get little, right?
- 3:32[SPEAKER_00]: So you can't go out and say something like that
- 3:36[SPEAKER_00]: offensive linemen so I think that you know what we're really going to be looking for are some guys that have that size to hold up when the when the temperatures drop but are also athletic enough to get on the edge and you know get on each and out there in space where we want to see a most.
- 3:52[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, for sure.
- 3:54[SPEAKER_02]: Well, as always, we have three archetypes for these players.
- 3:58[SPEAKER_02]: But before we get into these archetypes, why don't I talk about a little bit about the combined athletic testing and the numbers?
- 4:05[SPEAKER_02]: And I think a guy who really shot up the boards was Kentucky Interior, Lyman, Jalen Farmer.
- 4:12[SPEAKER_02]: He posted a sub five second 44.93.
- 4:16[SPEAKER_02]: 40 passes the threshold 1.75 10 yard split destroys the 1.7 910 yard split 4.31 shuttle destroys the 4.73 threshold as well.
- 4:30[SPEAKER_02]: He had a phenomenal phenomenal workout coach.
- 4:34[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, absolutely.
- 4:35[SPEAKER_00]: He definitely displayed his athleticism.
- 4:38[SPEAKER_00]: I think there's a little bit of a
- 4:46[SPEAKER_00]: you know, high, high second round to the first round tape guards.
- 4:50[SPEAKER_00]: I felt this was, you know, I would like to see him create a little more movement in the run game thought that at times he didn't do a great job of attaching at the second level and he got out into space with that athleticism.
- 5:04[SPEAKER_00]: But, you know, I think he solid build.
- 5:06[SPEAKER_00]: He moves very well, obviously.
- 5:08[SPEAKER_00]: So I think there's a lot of upside with a player like Jalen Farmer, but, you know, this is one of those players that
- 5:14[SPEAKER_00]: You know, we talked about the film translating to the workouts, right?
- 5:18[SPEAKER_00]: There's a little bit of a gap there for him, but there is certainly a high ceiling with Joe and Farmer.
- 5:23[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, for sure.
- 5:25[SPEAKER_02]: All right.
- 5:26[SPEAKER_02]: Uh, another combine winner was Keylon Rutledge coach.
- 5:31[SPEAKER_02]: Uh, I mean, he had the best short shuttle of any offensive linemen in that group.
- 5:38[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I mean, he is one of my favorite.
- 5:40[SPEAKER_00]: interior offensive lineman in the draft.
- 5:42[SPEAKER_00]: I think this is a player that, you know, we talk about the film and the testing matching up it.
- 5:46[SPEAKER_00]: This is exactly who you're talking about.
- 5:50[SPEAKER_00]: You know, I like like his build.
- 5:51[SPEAKER_00]: He's got that nice wide frame, which is, you know, the ideal for the interior offensive lineman.
- 5:58[SPEAKER_00]: We saw that, you know, the more narrow builds and a Liam, I can bird coal strange type of player.
- 6:03[SPEAKER_00]: This is completely opposite of that.
- 6:06[SPEAKER_00]: I unlike farmer, I thought
- 6:10[SPEAKER_00]: in the run game.
- 6:11[SPEAKER_00]: I think he showed on film how well he can move in space for a guy that that's his size.
- 6:18[SPEAKER_00]: He also might have some positional versatility as well at the senior bull.
- 6:23[SPEAKER_00]: He worked out some as a center so you could have some obviously not going to compete with Aaron Brewer, but if that is a position to team likes him in and they don't want to hand out that
- 6:39[SPEAKER_00]: Elise considered in that paper of role right now he is my second ranked interior office alignment.
- 6:47[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm a big fan of Q&A.
- 6:49[SPEAKER_02]: That's that's that's high numbers for a lot of Rutledge right there.
- 6:54[SPEAKER_02]: All right.
- 6:55[SPEAKER_02]: Let's go ahead and get right into it once again.
- 7:00[SPEAKER_02]: three archetypes, same as every episode.
- 7:04[SPEAKER_02]: We've got a power anchor, which is the mall or who wins with first contact violence in tight space.
- 7:10[SPEAKER_02]: The zone puller, the guy that can execute the lateral reach on outside zone on wide zone, climbing to the second level on combo blocks.
- 7:18[SPEAKER_02]: They have the speed, they have the agility to pull through the hole.
- 7:21[SPEAKER_02]: This zone polar is a direct bobby-slowic offensive fit.
- 7:26[SPEAKER_02]: You're talking about guys like try-turner, Chris Lindstrom, why it teller.
- 7:31[SPEAKER_02]: The guys that we talk about power anchors is more so like a Zach Martin, Kevin Zitler, type of bill.
- 7:36[SPEAKER_02]: And then you have the versatile interior coach, your guard and centers that are interchangeable.
- 7:41[SPEAKER_02]: Kind of like, you know, Aaron Brewer, when he was in Tennessee and now in Miami, that can play, you know.
- 7:46[SPEAKER_02]: left guard right guard or a center.
- 7:49[SPEAKER_02]: These versatile interior linemen can both pass block and run block and their grades, data, and film should be above average.
- 7:57[SPEAKER_02]: Think of guys like Ben Jones and John Feliciano.
- 8:01[SPEAKER_02]: I hope I hope those player comms are much more along the line of what we'll be talking about or these comms are what we can pull up for a lot of these guys in this draft class.
- 8:17[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, those are some very high quality names that you're putting it out there.
- 8:24[SPEAKER_00]: I think that it's not easy to find guys that can do everything, right?
- 8:32[SPEAKER_00]: We've seen the Solomon kinlies that can't move in space, right?
- 8:36[SPEAKER_00]: And then you've got other guys like coal streams, it might do okay in space, but didn't do great in close quarters.
- 8:45[SPEAKER_00]: definitely looking forward to talking about some of these guys and finding out.
- 8:48[SPEAKER_00]: The ones that might be able to meet in the middle there where they can do a little bit of both.
- 8:54[SPEAKER_02]: All right, let's get right into it into the zone pullers.
- 8:58[SPEAKER_02]: This is probably the number one offensive guard or enter alignment in the draft.
- 9:04[SPEAKER_02]: And Coach, I'm gonna say both you and I,
- 9:07[SPEAKER_02]: We're not the biggest fans of him being the consensus number one offensive guard or someone who we should think be taken off the board at number 11.
- 9:19[SPEAKER_02]: That's Penn State's Vega, I own.
- 9:21[SPEAKER_02]: 64, 320 pounds consensus, number one, interior alignment, all across the board.
- 9:27[SPEAKER_02]: He's got an 85 overall PFF grade.
- 9:30[SPEAKER_02]: around 1.8K snaps at left guard, under 400 snaps at right guard, zero sac, zero hits, only four hurries last season, and zero sacs in his last 31 games.
- 9:44[SPEAKER_02]: I see him more so as like a Cooper BB type of guard who was drafted in the third round a couple of years ago.
- 9:52[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I am a big fan of you want to, you know, if we're talking about strictly interior offensive linemen, he is the top one on my board, if we start, you know, talking about Maligo, a fan of those type of guys in that conversation as well, then you want to not my, my highest-free guy, but very extremely strong in past protection, probably the best interior past protector that you're going to find in this draft, one of the things that I found
- 10:20[SPEAKER_00]: looking up some notes on him was that he didn't start playing football until either his sophomore junior year of high school and he's a, you know, fourth year junior.
- 10:30[SPEAKER_00]: So he's still somewhat young when it comes to experience as an offensive lineman, you know, I think he's got, I don't
- 10:40[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know that I would draft any guard at 11.
- 10:42[SPEAKER_00]: And that's just kind of a stance that I've always had, right?
- 10:45[SPEAKER_00]: And if you do, then I feel like it's got to be a generational type guy, your Clinton Nelson, your Zack Martin's that type.
- 10:51[SPEAKER_00]: And I don't see you want to up in that stratosphere.
- 10:55[SPEAKER_00]: So that it's a player that I really like, but when it comes to that conversation of.
- 10:59[SPEAKER_00]: You know, what I consider at number 11, I don't know that I see in that high and I guess the reason that I don't is I need to see a little more refinement in the run game.
- 11:10[SPEAKER_00]: You show the athleticism to get there to do that, but it doesn't always show up on the film that way, but it's certainly a player again.
- 11:19[SPEAKER_00]: Like I said, didn't start playing football till high school, so there is still a ceiling there that, you know, can be tapped into.
- 11:29[SPEAKER_00]: I would be over the moon with at 11.
- 11:32[SPEAKER_02]: I think what you talk about just his quote on quote, only fatal flaw is more so his speed up to the second level level, especially in the NFL when these linebackers are much more faster.
- 11:46[SPEAKER_02]: They could beat him to the spot like those quick interior guys linebackers could potentially beat him off the snap to just get that one step ahead and you know in Bobby slow
- 11:59[SPEAKER_02]: You can't allow the defender to get a step ahead and we saw it last season with the guards, the Miami Dolphins.
- 12:06[SPEAKER_02]: And the last two seasons were, if they're not hitting that first step, Devon Hain is going to get hit within maybe two to three yards and he's going to have to work extra to wiggle out of that.
- 12:17[SPEAKER_02]: You don't want that happening to Devon Hain.
- 12:22[SPEAKER_02]: Something I saw was that sometimes his feet can go dead on contact.
- 12:26[SPEAKER_02]: He's not generating that drive once he's there into that second level.
- 12:31[SPEAKER_02]: And his pad level was a bit too high.
- 12:34[SPEAKER_02]: So when you have, you know, those twitchy three technique defensive lineman, those six to six three linebackers were crossing him, crossing him with that speed.
- 12:44[SPEAKER_02]: It is going to give him.
- 12:45[SPEAKER_02]: fits.
- 12:46[SPEAKER_02]: And as you said, if you're picking it into your offensive lineman at 11, he better be generational.
- 12:52[SPEAKER_02]: Now, if the dolphins were to trade back and him being available, then I think it's a totally different story where you could get a
- 13:03[SPEAKER_02]: What I think is a solid, probal guy who has a high floor for sure.
- 13:11[SPEAKER_02]: And you know what his ceiling will be to like, this will be your decade long starting guard for sure.
- 13:18[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I mean, it's not me sitting here saying bad stuff about I want to mean there's the clip of him after a game jumping over the wall and helping the equipment guy, like you're talking about a high character guy.
- 13:32[SPEAKER_00]: a very good player just in terms of position of value and where he is as a finished product.
- 13:38[SPEAKER_00]: just isn't from me at 11, but I like them a lot.
- 13:41[SPEAKER_02]: All right, next guy on the list is Emmanuel Pregnant.
- 13:45[SPEAKER_02]: He is being mocked in the 30s and 40s from PFF, PFF, and other mock draft simulators.
- 13:55[SPEAKER_02]: 71 PFF run block rate, 93 in zone run blocking, 85.8 in pass blocking.
- 14:04[SPEAKER_02]: One sack, two hits, two hurries in 2025, zero sacks in 2023 to 2024.
- 14:12[SPEAKER_02]: Fits that six for height, fits that weight of 314 pound passes the long arms.
- 14:18[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, this is what 33 and 5-8 inches, 5.214 kind of fails that his 10-yard split is a 1.82.
- 14:28[SPEAKER_02]: but man this guy does not have any inch of fat on him.
- 14:33[SPEAKER_02]: This guy is pure muscle coach, pure muscle.
- 14:37[SPEAKER_00]: Oh yeah very very well built player here played two years at Wyoming before two years at USC and then finished up there at Oregon.
- 14:47[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe it's just my value of the guard's overall, but I have him a little bit lower than what the projections are that you're talking about because he's 26, right?
- 14:54[SPEAKER_02]: Is that why?
- 14:56[SPEAKER_00]: No, so I was actually a little surprised the numbers that you kind of put out there for the past blocking because the way that I see pregnant is he is dominant in the run game like it is a lot of fun to watch and move guys in the run game so just to hear that grade in zone blocking is not surprising because you know once he gets you move and he's you know there is no there is no stopping with it but for me I kind of had a
- 15:22[SPEAKER_00]: I have conserved with him in pass protection.
- 15:24[SPEAKER_00]: I think he has a very good anchor.
- 15:26[SPEAKER_00]: Like he's not going to get walked back like he's seen the guards in Miami do.
- 15:31[SPEAKER_00]: But kind of the same thing that you were talking about, you wanted there when we start getting him moving laterally, then I feel like the tape drops off a little bit there.
- 15:40[SPEAKER_00]: And again, right, if he was a stud in pass protection, we'd probably be talking about him up with you on in terms of
- 15:48[SPEAKER_00]: top guard in this class, but yeah, I love what he doesn't run game if we were talking about, you know, in offense that, you know, don't bring him up at two, I write the quick throwing balls out quick, then it might be something I'm like, okay, I'll live with it for the, the upside in the run game.
- 16:09[SPEAKER_00]: But, um,
- 16:10[SPEAKER_00]: You know, depending on what your past game looks like, that could be a reason that, you know, I'm pregnant on down a little bit on the board.
- 16:18[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, you might not want to get pure past progressions with Emmanuel, pregnant on because his skill sets, specifically calls for a zone heavy scheme.
- 16:28[SPEAKER_02]: He's not as dominant in past protection.
- 16:30[SPEAKER_02]: He doesn't have that same level of niceness.
- 16:33[SPEAKER_02]: in the run game.
- 16:34[SPEAKER_02]: And that's his, you know, fatal flaw.
- 16:37[SPEAKER_02]: As well, you know, we talk by own with his fatal flaw.
- 16:40[SPEAKER_02]: This is pregnant on's fatal flaw.
- 16:42[SPEAKER_02]: Like in past protection, his wide base can leave him a little bit late and stranded against faster past pressures, as well.
- 16:51[SPEAKER_02]: But I think just the way he moves in the run game is much, much better.
- 16:57[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, so I have him as my number two, as well.
- 17:01[SPEAKER_02]: Alright, the third guy in the zone polar is Chase Basantis out of Texas A&M, big guy, 65, 315 pounds.
- 17:10[SPEAKER_02]: A lot of people are comping him to a Wyatt teller type of offensive guard.
- 17:17[SPEAKER_02]: One sec, three hits, eight hurries in 2025, although he had eight penalties.
- 17:24[SPEAKER_02]: Strickly, only played left guard around 1.3k snaps.
- 17:28[SPEAKER_02]: at left guard, 1.76 10 yards split, 5.0 240, everything fits the bill for John Eric Sullivan and Bobby Slovich.
- 17:39[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, another player that I like and we talk about, you know, my board, you want us number one but then Rutledge Pregnant and Basantis are all kind of grouped together in that two through four slot for me.
- 17:51[SPEAKER_00]: I think that he is close to Pregnant in terms of
- 17:55[SPEAKER_00]: the run game, especially with the zone blocking.
- 17:59[SPEAKER_00]: I think they did in the gap in the power and those close quarters, rude amount of the trenches type thing.
- 18:06[SPEAKER_00]: I think he struggles a little bit there.
- 18:08[SPEAKER_00]: And I think that a lot of that has to do with, you know, I feel like he plays with good technique off the ball, right?
- 18:17[SPEAKER_00]: But if he doesn't get that initial win, then I think the technique kind of falls off and can get a little sloppy there.
- 18:24[SPEAKER_00]: Um, and that is something that, you know, you can improve over time, love the way that he plays.
- 18:29[SPEAKER_00]: He's one of these guys that, you know, is going to play through the whistle, going to, you know, probably piss him, piss some defensive linemen off, love to see that.
- 18:36[SPEAKER_00]: Um, I, you mentioned why Tyler, right, I, I like that comp because, you know, one of the notes that I have him, I feel like he is a solid, not spectacular player that I could see him, you know, playing a decade in the NFL, maybe never reaching that upper echelon
- 18:52[SPEAKER_00]: But it's going to be around going to be a solid starter for a long time in the NFL.
- 18:57[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, you talk about his main nasty streak.
- 18:59[SPEAKER_02]: He really epitomizes the Maroon Goon's nickname.
- 19:04[SPEAKER_02]: For sure, that's a real tough nasty player.
- 19:07[SPEAKER_02]: And I think there is, with how young he is and how harsh a refreshment season has, he still has room to approve at his age.
- 19:16[SPEAKER_02]: I mean,
- 19:17[SPEAKER_02]: If he's able, you know, to become the starting left guard and, you know, Miami moves, you know, he either has competition at left guard with him and Jonas Avanaya, that's competition right that whoever wins, you know, becomes the left guard, maybe you move the other guy.
- 19:34[SPEAKER_02]: And the dolphins did also sign an offensive lineman to play right guard.
- 19:39[SPEAKER_02]: I'm kind of blinking on the name.
- 19:41[SPEAKER_02]: I'm a reporter and a jemariah soliers.
- 19:44[SPEAKER_02]: Well, who is quote unquote projected to be the right guard, but we don't necessarily see him as the best fit in right guard in my amy for sure.
- 19:55[SPEAKER_02]: I do think with besantis, just we talk about the comp of white teller, but teller had a better arm length or a longer arm length than hit.
- 20:06[SPEAKER_02]: uh, when he kind of opens his hips up a little bit early, he oversets and he's lured to go into the back field and creates that soft inside shoulder where, you know, edge rushers are able to go right underneath and put pressure on the quarterback, you know, up against those faster three techniques, that's going to be a problem.
- 20:25[SPEAKER_02]: And he's not necessarily going to win with inside leverage with that issue.
- 20:36[SPEAKER_00]: You know, as we look at guys that can complain as often, like you said, I think that for me Sawyer is more of a left guard, but, you know, Basantus is a player that I think can can certainly play in this system.
- 20:50[SPEAKER_02]: All right, next guy, Redmullet, 680 pounds back squat, 15 reps on of 345 on the bench press.
- 21:01[SPEAKER_02]: Before he was 20 year old, before he was 20 years old coach, Joe Moore Award winner.
- 21:09[SPEAKER_02]: Went through the phenomenal Iowa offensive line program.
- 21:14[SPEAKER_02]: gennings dunker.
- 21:16[SPEAKER_02]: His position is a right tackle, but we don't see him as a right tackle.
- 21:20[SPEAKER_02]: We talked about it, you know, in the offensive tackle episode that we didn't include him in offensive tackles.
- 21:25[SPEAKER_02]: We both think he's better suited to be the right guard if he's picked up by my name.
- 21:31[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I mean, I don't have on my board as a tackle just because that's where he played, but if we had him have a measure guard, which is where I think he's going to be his better position,
- 21:41[SPEAKER_00]: Then I think that, you know, he's another guy that's in that same kind of second year bucket.
- 21:47[SPEAKER_00]: I was not as high as on him with his 2024 film, as I was with his 2025 film, I'm not quite as high as what the media seems to be with the flow and red hair and all that stuff.
- 22:01[SPEAKER_00]: But I do think that he is another very solid player, another one that I think struggles a little bit in past protection,
- 22:12[SPEAKER_00]: I let they run the ball really well there and, you know, they develop guys in that sense.
- 22:19[SPEAKER_00]: But, you know, I didn't feel like he created a ton of room at the point of attack, but in terms of outside zone, shows the athleticism that showed up at the combine there.
- 22:31[SPEAKER_00]: And I think that he does similar to Basantis, does a good job of creating movement on the run.
- 22:38[SPEAKER_00]: Like, you know, you get
- 22:40[SPEAKER_00]: him in a defensive line moving horizontally, and he's probably going to come out on top of that.
- 22:46[SPEAKER_00]: So I think that it's a player that might be drafted, so I had in my notes, I thought that he might get drafted higher than consensus because of a scheme fit, but it seems like the new cycle is kind of caught up.
- 23:00[SPEAKER_00]: And I think that the view of him right now is probably where it should be.
- 23:04[SPEAKER_00]: I think it was a little lower before.
- 23:07[SPEAKER_00]: Combine kind of shot him up probably higher than what it should have been and seems like he's kind of settled right into where I think he belongs.
- 23:14[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it's more so about the film for John Eric Sullivan when he's drafting these guys.
- 23:21[SPEAKER_02]: A little bit of important context if the dolphins were to draft him and move him to offensive guard.
- 23:27[SPEAKER_02]: He's not a tackle converting to an offensive guard cold.
- 23:31[SPEAKER_02]: He has the base, you know, Iowa's coaching staff has drilled his own reach at Garden Practice, even during his tackle years, for sure.
- 23:38[SPEAKER_02]: 4.63 shuttle was a single most important number from this combine for Miami's data evaluation for gaining stunker.
- 23:46[SPEAKER_02]: that kind of says that his feet can work in tight space at a level that could exceed every other guard.
- 23:54[SPEAKER_02]: We're actually talking about in this podcast and potentially on Miami's board.
- 24:01[SPEAKER_02]: I do think that, you know, he could become one of those Rogers, like if everything works out well,
- 24:09[SPEAKER_02]: for Dunker and if he's picked by Miami, you know, the best case scenario for him would be to become a guy like Roger Saffold, a tackle who moved to guard and became a solid starter.
- 24:23[SPEAKER_02]: Not necessarily, you know, a lot of probels, but you know, he gave him seven, eight years in Miami, and you have, you know, your starting guard for sure.
- 24:33[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, agree.
- 24:34[SPEAKER_00]: That's kind of the same way that I see him, probably not probal level,
- 24:39[SPEAKER_00]: probably a guy that, you know, seven to ten years given you solid play along the offensive line.
- 24:44[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 24:45[SPEAKER_02]: All right.
- 24:45[SPEAKER_02]: Next guy to round up this zone polar archetype is going to be jail and farmer.
- 24:51[SPEAKER_02]: 64, 312 pounds, right guard only, wow, around 1,637, right guard snaps, last season, gave up three sacks, but his true pressure rate is almost seven percent, which is above the NFL average.
- 25:09[SPEAKER_02]: However, he was the top offensive lineman in the senior bull.
- 25:14[SPEAKER_02]: And his pro-day numbers shot him up on the board, for sure, especially his shuttle number, which was the best of any guard.
- 25:23[SPEAKER_02]: He's got 34 and a quarter inch arms.
- 25:26[SPEAKER_02]: He clears the way that 350 pounds.
- 25:29[SPEAKER_02]: And he fits all of the checkboxes for John Eric Sullivan and Bobby Slovak.
- 25:35[SPEAKER_00]: I think he drops all of them except for the film part of it.
- 25:39[SPEAKER_00]: It's not, it's not that his film is bad.
- 25:41[SPEAKER_00]: I just don't think that his film is quite as high as the testing and maybe his performances at the senior bull kind of makes John Erick Sullivan and Jeff Haffley feel like there's more to get there.
- 25:55[SPEAKER_00]: But I felt like he was a player that was solid and past-probed.
- 25:58[SPEAKER_00]: I didn't think that he created enough movement in the run game for me.
- 26:02[SPEAKER_00]: And that could be, we're talking about bringing in a milk
- 26:06[SPEAKER_00]: You know, you want to do stuff to protect him.
- 26:08[SPEAKER_00]: We've talked about some guys that are better run blocking and past blocking earlier and for me farmers kind of the opposite.
- 26:14[SPEAKER_00]: He's further along as a past protector than a run blocker so maybe that is what you want to surround Malik Willis with somebody like that and it's not it's not that it's stuff that he can't do it's just it like the you know one of the news that I have is feels like you know he he gets his eyes down and leaning a little too much
- 26:32[SPEAKER_00]: But you know, you can see he's got that good build.
- 26:36[SPEAKER_00]: He moves well like that.
- 26:37[SPEAKER_00]: That all shows up on tape.
- 26:40[SPEAKER_00]: I think that the stuff that The negatives that I have for jail and farmer are all stuff that's fixable, right?
- 26:48[SPEAKER_00]: So if you're looking for a guard that's a little stronger in past pro and you just want to continue to refine his techniques in the run game and I think I don't know, you know, where consensus is for him.
- 27:00[SPEAKER_00]: But he's more of a late day to guy for me, maybe into the top of day three.
- 27:07[SPEAKER_00]: And if you can get a player like this, at that point that has the upside that he has, then I think that's really good value for him.
- 27:14[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, you can teach technique, but you can't teach the size, strength, and speed that jail in farmers with.
- 27:21[SPEAKER_02]: And, you know, he completely eliminated most of his major penalties in 2025 compared to his 2024 champion.
- 27:28[SPEAKER_02]: You know, that's a one-year improvement trajectory.
- 27:32[SPEAKER_02]: And the question will be, is,
- 27:34[SPEAKER_02]: If he's picked in Miami, can Bodyslowix offensive line coaching staff get Jill and Farmer, you know, improving from year one to year two and into year three.
- 27:47[SPEAKER_02]: All right.
- 27:48[SPEAKER_02]: That is it for the zone pullers.
- 27:50[SPEAKER_02]: I think our overall number one consensus guy was.
- 27:54[SPEAKER_02]: I own for the zone pullers as well and we just kind of went down the rank from there, right?
- 28:00[SPEAKER_02]: We are gonna head to break and some information from our sponsor, underdog.
- 28:08[SPEAKER_02]: The tournament is back and the upsets are inevitable and underdog is the best place to get in on all the action.
- 28:16[SPEAKER_02]: Playing on underdog is easy, just pick whether your favorite players will go higher or lower on stats like points, rebound, steals and more.
- 28:24[SPEAKER_02]: Get your picks right and you could win up to 5,000 times your catch.
- 28:29[SPEAKER_02]: this week on Underdog, I'm actually not looking at the March madness, I'm actually looking at the Lakers Heat Game Thursday night.
- 28:38[SPEAKER_02]: I'm actually going lower on Calair, Calair, Calair,
- 28:43[SPEAKER_02]: on nine and a half rebounds.
- 28:45[SPEAKER_02]: He's had some issues rebounding the ball as of late, you know, the last five games, he pulled down double-dead at rebounds, on just two occasions, and he's playing up against the Lakers and DeAndre 18, who's been incredibly efficient lately.
- 28:59[SPEAKER_02]: So that's someone who I'm looking for on underdog fantasy.

- 29:51[SPEAKER_02]: all right and we're back.
- 29:54[SPEAKER_02]: Next archetype coach is going to be the power anchors.
- 29:58[SPEAKER_02]: We have a couple of guys on the list and then some of these guys which we can find on day three, early day three, late day three, a lot of the zone polar guys who we talked about are day one, day two guys, maybe very, very early day three, depending on these teams.
- 30:15[SPEAKER_02]: All right, first guy is actually going to be, you know, one of the guys you talked about a lot early was Killon Ruttlage out of Georgia Tech, fits the bill for John Eric Sullivan and Bobby Slavic 64, 316 pounds.
- 30:32[SPEAKER_02]: He's played only 43 snaps at left guard, almost 3,000 snaps at right
- 30:43[SPEAKER_02]: run block of 75 99.3 pass block win rate as well came from middle Tennessee transferred over to Georgia Tech.
- 30:53[SPEAKER_02]: Passes the shuttle time, fills the, you know, 40 yard time and also is just over, you know, the 10 yard, the 10 yard split at a 1.81.
- 31:07[SPEAKER_02]: He's actually got one of the best origin stories in this draft class two
- 31:12[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not familiar with this order of the story.
- 31:15[SPEAKER_02]: Really?
- 31:16[SPEAKER_02]: So three sports stand out in high school in Tennessee, state champion and shot put 1,000.000 1,000 rebound basketball player.
- 31:28[SPEAKER_02]: Three star recruit who got zero power five offers and signed with middle Tennessee state, transferred a Georgia Tech after a coaching change.
- 31:38[SPEAKER_02]: And that transfer almost
- 31:40[SPEAKER_02]: ended before it started when he got into a car accident in December of 2023.
- 31:45[SPEAKER_02]: That left him with a severe foot injury that caused him all of spring practice.
- 31:52[SPEAKER_02]: Started all 13 games at right guard in 2024.
- 31:55[SPEAKER_02]: First team all ACC first team all American honors.
- 32:03[SPEAKER_00]: That's impressive.
- 32:03[SPEAKER_00]: That was a lot of, a lot of information about him that I didn't know.
- 32:07[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I talked about him.
- 32:08[SPEAKER_00]: a little bit earlier, I told you, he's my, my number two interior offensive line without, you know, the tackles in there as well.
- 32:17[SPEAKER_00]: You talked about his athletic testing being right on the edge there.
- 32:21[SPEAKER_00]: And that's, you know, that does show up on film with him that, you know, we talk about his fit into a wide zone scheme.
- 32:30[SPEAKER_00]: That's a player that I think is kind of on that cutoff, right?
- 32:34[SPEAKER_00]: You.
- 32:34[SPEAKER_00]: You don't have to be an air and brewer type athlete, but you do need to be a plus athlete.
- 32:40[SPEAKER_00]: And I think that I think Rutledge is good enough as an athlete to play in this scheme, but probably on the lower end of that good enough scale.
- 32:49[SPEAKER_00]: And it just depends on how this new staff sees that for me.
- 32:53[SPEAKER_02]: I think he's got that scheme versus solely, especially at Georgia Tech, where you know, it had a whole bunch of different types of running games.
- 33:01[SPEAKER_02]: You know, he's more so better fit for a gap scheme that offers, you know, those pulling guards, play action concepts, which is as best fit.
- 33:09[SPEAKER_02]: And Bobby Slavic is going to have that and they incorporated a little bit of that and last year's offense with Slavic and McDaniel, but now it's Bobby Slavic's.
- 33:18[SPEAKER_02]: And I think that's actually gonna help
- 33:20[SPEAKER_02]: Keylon Rutledge and also help Malik Wallace because that's also something Matt LaFlor incorporated with Malik Wallace last year and look his combat number suggests he can handle the zone concepts too.
- 33:35[SPEAKER_02]: And that's the key phrase.
- 33:36[SPEAKER_02]: He can handle it.
- 33:38[SPEAKER_02]: He's not the zone polar archetype.
- 33:41[SPEAKER_02]: He's got that power anchor.
- 33:42[SPEAKER_02]: He is powerful.
- 33:43[SPEAKER_02]: He's got just enough athleticism to execute those concepts at a functional level.
- 33:50[SPEAKER_02]: Level of the thing is sometimes on his landmarks, he can get a bit too high.
- 33:55[SPEAKER_02]: He lunges at his opponents, and he doesn't really engage with that stable base into the second level.
- 34:01[SPEAKER_02]: Now once again, we talked about
- 34:05[SPEAKER_02]: but you can't teach physical tools.
- 34:07[SPEAKER_02]: He's got the physical tools.
- 34:09[SPEAKER_02]: And he's not going to be like a Liam Ikenberg type of player, sure.
- 34:14[SPEAKER_02]: But he's got all the tools.
- 34:16[SPEAKER_02]: He's got the physicalities.
- 34:17[SPEAKER_02]: He can get coached up.
- 34:19[SPEAKER_02]: He started at Middle Tennessee State, also started at Georgia Tech.
- 34:23[SPEAKER_02]: And with the scheme versatility in Georgia Tech,
- 34:26[SPEAKER_02]: If you're looking for a scheme versatile guy at that right card visit position besides Austin, Jackson, and Aaron Burr, I think that's a good fit for Miami if they do draft human Rutledge in the second or third round.
- 34:39[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I don't have a lot to add that I agree completely you know talking about trying to add competition to that interior offensive line group.
- 34:47[SPEAKER_00]: I think that Rutledge would be a great option as a day two player to put into that room.
- 34:52[SPEAKER_02]: Alright, next guy is Mike Morris out of Georgia 65, 334 pounds, that's a big dude.
- 34:58[SPEAKER_02]: But that big of a dude might not be that good of a mover.
- 35:04[SPEAKER_02]: I think he's got the highest or the best strength of any interior lineman in this class.
- 35:11[SPEAKER_02]: He's been facing NFL caliber defensive lineman at Georgia every week.
- 35:15[SPEAKER_02]: in the SEC.
- 35:16[SPEAKER_02]: That 5.0940 passes Sullivan's threshold and the weight completely bypasses the interior, the interior alignment threshold.
- 35:27[SPEAKER_02]: He's big.
- 35:28[SPEAKER_02]: He can start in the NFL.
- 35:30[SPEAKER_02]: He's got good size, strength, quickness, but can he get up to the second level?
- 35:36[SPEAKER_02]: Is he a system fit in Miami Coach?
- 35:39[SPEAKER_00]: It's a great question because I know that after the combat he
- 35:43[SPEAKER_00]: Test, he came in at a 9.98 RAS, which was number five of all guards since 1987, but a lot of that was that his size and his jump for a really good, his running was not great and he didn't even test in the agility part of it.
- 36:02[SPEAKER_00]: So I think that had he done that, I think we'd have probably seen that RAS come down a little bit.
- 36:07[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, he's an interesting story because of the lack of experience he has at the college level, but when you look at why right last year he was stuck behind Dylan Fairchild and Tate Rutledge.
- 36:19[SPEAKER_00]: at Georgia.
- 36:20[SPEAKER_00]: So it's not like he was, you know, stuck behind players that weren't NFL caliber.
- 36:27[SPEAKER_00]: And you kind of see that when he's he's playing, right?
- 36:30[SPEAKER_00]: He still looks like a player that's trying to figure out his body has a very strong anchor.
- 36:36[SPEAKER_00]: I think that he does move okay, but we're talking about killing Rutledge maybe and just above that threshold of what you want in his own scheme,
- 36:48[SPEAKER_00]: kind of on the opposite side of that line, not a bad athlete, but maybe not good enough, depending on what they wanna do.
- 36:57[SPEAKER_00]: But, you know, we've said it with a few guys, right?
- 37:00[SPEAKER_00]: The talent is there, he's got the size, he's got the strength, he's got, okay, movement skills,
- 37:08[SPEAKER_00]: More of a day three guy here, but this is another one that I like the the upside of him and like you said like he's going to come in and he's probably going to start somewhere in the NFL probably maybe not as rookie year But probably within a few years like this is one of those guys that grown man body grown man strength that kind of stuff translates well into the NFL and you know like we said earlier John Erick Sullivan talked about you know big doesn't get small and doesn't get much bigger than Mike Morris
- 37:37[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I just don't think he's the right system fit for Miami and if he's available one day three that's more so if I do all mental guy you probably make him lose you know 10 to 15 pounds so that way he develops that first step quickness coach him drill him into that as well and then you could potentially have him as a starter and two.
- 37:56[SPEAKER_02]: to potentially maybe three years.
- 37:59[SPEAKER_02]: All right, after that, you more so have deaf guys, you know, in that power anchor archetype, Jeremiah Wright, Jayden Roberts, and or Monterrey Adams, Jeremiah Wright out of Auburn, 65, 3301 pounds, 1,716 snaps at right guard, five snaps allowed in 2025, more than in his first three seasons, combined.
- 38:21[SPEAKER_02]: I think he's more so of a developmental guy in that
- 38:27[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I agree.
- 38:27[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, a lot of the stuff that I said about Mike Amores, I would apply to Jeremiah Wright in terms of the large body, not a great mover.
- 38:36[SPEAKER_00]: One of the things that kind of turned me off with Jeremiah Wright, and it's a nitpicky thing we're talking about an oversized guard, but was not a great mover in space.
- 38:46[SPEAKER_00]: And if he didn't locate that target initially, like his effort really dropped off, and that kind of,
- 38:54[SPEAKER_00]: turned me off.
- 38:55[SPEAKER_00]: You know, I do think that he shows the ability to engap and power schemes really be able to move guys, but it doesn't show up consistently.
- 39:05[SPEAKER_00]: He's got the ability to displace defensive tackles the line of scrimmage.
- 39:10[SPEAKER_00]: Another player that's strong and passcode doesn't give ground.
- 39:14[SPEAKER_00]: I have him a little bit above more, because I think that Jeremiah
- 39:20[SPEAKER_00]: You know, a more refined prospect than what Mike Amores is now, but when you, you know, I think it's one of those guys that's going to need a, you know, a fire lit under his butt right.
- 39:30[SPEAKER_00]: So if you if you talk about the an opportunity where you bring in like a keel and Rutledge or a manual pregnant on in day two and then you circle back around you get a Jeremiah right and put him in a situation where he's got to compete to get on the field.
- 39:46[SPEAKER_00]: Then you could end up with a really good player.
- 39:49[SPEAKER_00]: Right now, this is not the type of player that I would, you know, I would not look the draft him and put him directly into a starting line up.
- 39:57[SPEAKER_00]: I feel like that wouldn't have great results.
- 39:59[SPEAKER_02]: All right.
- 40:00[SPEAKER_02]: Next guy, uh, Jane Roberts out of Alabama, six, five, 330 people, 333 pounds.
- 40:07[SPEAKER_02]: Once again, all of our right guard, a lot of the guys who we've talked about.
- 40:11[SPEAKER_02]: are primarily right guard.
- 40:13[SPEAKER_02]: And my aim, you need someone to be at that right card position.
- 40:19[SPEAKER_02]: I think his best trait is the run blocking on downhill, got concepts.
- 40:22[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think mine is going to have a lot of gap concepts, more so sprinkled in here and there.
- 40:30[SPEAKER_02]: It's got the Alabama pedigree, but nothing too major, nothing that stands out, that is day one or day two were the,
- 40:38[SPEAKER_02]: The last guys are moderate atoms out of Texas A&M.
- 40:42[SPEAKER_02]: Big guy, 6, 6, 3, 4, 14 pounds.
- 40:44[SPEAKER_02]: He was chased by scientists as running mate.
- 40:46[SPEAKER_02]: But a lot of the people use the term to evaluate him as, you know, he's clunky.
- 40:55[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and I think I see him the same way.
- 40:58[SPEAKER_00]: I think that, you know, he shows on Tathy as a very smart player, right?
- 41:04[SPEAKER_00]: He's got high football intelligence,
- 41:09[SPEAKER_00]: feel like when you get him into short distances, right?
- 41:14[SPEAKER_00]: If you're pulling across the line to kick somebody out and he's really good at that and who we talked about earlier but talk about the initial contacting technique or a really good but then it kind of falls off.
- 41:27[SPEAKER_00]: And I think that's where the clunky description comes in that as the play develops and you see that kind of deteriorate.
- 41:39[SPEAKER_00]: I like him, but this is another player that, right, this is more of a day three-type grade for me and if I'm comparing the upside of Basantus to Adam's read, right, then I'm going Basantus all day and I, you know, I have questions as to whether or not Adam's read can translate into the offense, so not a whole lot more to say on him.
- 42:03[SPEAKER_02]: All right, next archetype is going to be the first in theory that can play a different guard spots and center of sports spots.
- 42:11[SPEAKER_02]: First guy on the list is, again, from Iowa, bo steam in 6, 6, 315 pounds, primarily played a left guard.
- 42:20[SPEAKER_02]: at Iowa 88.3 PFF grade best in the class 92.9 past blocking led all power four guards 85.6 and run blocking through and through outside zone system guide for sure led all of the guards and PFF grades in both phases come back play of the year in 2024 missed all of
- 42:48[SPEAKER_02]: a game or two in 2024 and another game in 2025.
- 42:53[SPEAKER_02]: So the injury concerns are there for Bo Stevenson, which is why he's rated a little bit low in this podcast for us because John Eric Sullivan and Jeff Halfley, their philosophy is to have guys that have played at least two seasons consecutively without any injury risk.
- 43:14[SPEAKER_02]: And
- 43:15[SPEAKER_02]: There's only some exceptions if you were highly, highly talented, and if you just had a bizarre like ACL or a killer's injury, that just happened while you were playing, you know, it's just like a weird one, it's not the case for both Stevens, right now.
- 43:32[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and I think that when we talk about both Stevens, he's kind of the opposite conversation about what we had with some of the guys earlier, we talked about the guys that are good on the initial contact.
- 43:41[SPEAKER_00]: And then they deteriorate after that.
- 43:44[SPEAKER_00]: And Stevens is kind of the opposite, right?
- 43:47[SPEAKER_00]: He lacks that pop on contact, but he does a good job straining through the play.
- 43:52[SPEAKER_00]: Definitely not going to have the effort questions that we brought up with some of the other guys.
- 43:58[SPEAKER_00]: I think that he plays a little bit out of control.
- 44:04[SPEAKER_00]: I think in a way, I think that comes down to a lack of natural strength at times.
- 44:11[SPEAKER_00]: rate like this is still a player that, you know, I have my notes feels like the type of guy that's going to, you know, start for for somebody in the NFL, but you're always going to be looking to replace him.
- 44:23[SPEAKER_00]: So, you know, I think that just comes down to like, you know, and especially in a zone blocking scheme that, you know, you've got to be able to.
- 44:33[SPEAKER_00]: displaced both horizontally and vertically and you have to be able to play through that.
- 44:39[SPEAKER_00]: So if he doesn't, if he doesn't get latched on and then good position be able to stream through that, I think you could run into some issues with both Stevens, but you know, he's kind of more of a, you know, we look at some of these guys that are high ceiling type guys, right?
- 44:57[SPEAKER_00]: This is more of
- 45:00[SPEAKER_00]: kind of know what you're getting, but you're always going to want more with him.
- 45:04[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and I think that just comes in his frame, his 66 frame.
- 45:08[SPEAKER_02]: He lacks the technique to bend his waist and pass protection.
- 45:13[SPEAKER_02]: It leaves him vulnerable to overextend, losing him against those swim and and rip moves.
- 45:19[SPEAKER_02]: His pad levels a bit too high.
- 45:21[SPEAKER_02]: His 40 is a 5.35 misses the threshold by a lot.
- 45:26[SPEAKER_02]: But
- 45:27[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, the past block and grade is nice for sure, but are you just evaluating him just on the past block and grade or the film as well, which you pretty much described?
- 45:39[SPEAKER_02]: I think, you know, he's more of a day three guy that fits six round guy that you can get for sure.
- 45:45[SPEAKER_02]: And unless they sign off on, you know, his injury concerns, this could be a solid depth piece for the foreseeable future.
- 45:56[SPEAKER_02]: All right, next couple of guys are going to be Centers Pat Cougan and James Brock and Meyer, more so as insurance for Aaron Brewer, first guy on the list, Pat Cougan.
- 46:09[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and you know, Cougan, I think is a guy that has played multiple positions throughout his career, played on national championship team in Indiana.
- 46:18[SPEAKER_00]: I think that he is, he's got adequate lateral mobility, but you know, can also get
- 46:25[SPEAKER_00]: knocked back both in the run game and the past game.
- 46:28[SPEAKER_02]: So if you're looking for that one of those bull MVP to the one of the very first offensive linemen to win that award since 1944.
- 46:36[SPEAKER_00]: Love when the all of the linemen get that kind of recognition doesn't doesn't happen too often as you just kind of point it out there.
- 46:45[SPEAKER_00]: I think very good college player.
- 46:49[SPEAKER_00]: I think that he's going to struggle to be more
- 46:52[SPEAKER_00]: then a reserve at the NFL level, but when we talk about the value of versatile reserve offensive linemen in the NFL, like you, almost every team is playing seven or eight offensive linemen throughout the year.
- 47:06[SPEAKER_00]: And those guys that can play multiple positions, it can handle it both physically and mentally are very valuable.
- 47:14[SPEAKER_00]: So for me, Cougan is kind of that six offensive linemen that can play in multiple roles can come off the bench without
- 47:23[SPEAKER_00]: You're going to have drop off from the starter, but it's not going to be because of not knowing what he's doing, because he's played all over the line before.
- 47:31[SPEAKER_00]: I just don't see him as a long-term, plus starter.
- 47:35[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's going to be more of a spot starter, versatile backup for Pat Cugin.
- 47:41[SPEAKER_02]: All right, next guy on the list is the home town guy, James Crockman, son of former first run offensive tackle, Blake Crockman, three programs for James Alabama, TCU, Miami, started the National Championship Game at Center for the Hurricanes, six, three, just under 300 pounds, five second, 40, and the only thing where he passes John Eric Sullivan
- 48:10[SPEAKER_02]: well, interior offensive lineman overall.
- 48:16[SPEAKER_02]: On the lighter side, same thing with Pat Cougan also on the lighter side, but his own blocking tape is probably the best thing on his film from the regular season to the playoffs to also in the national championship game.
- 48:32[SPEAKER_00]: That's that's interesting.
- 48:34[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe I need to watch a little more of them because I live a couple of games that I've watched of him,
- 48:40[SPEAKER_00]: positional blocker, then a mover.
- 48:44[SPEAKER_00]: So I didn't really see him as a great option to translate into the zone blocking scheme.
- 48:52[SPEAKER_00]: No, so I have on him that I feel he gets knocked back and past probate.
- 48:55[SPEAKER_00]: Does a solid job of resetting the anchor?
- 48:58[SPEAKER_00]: And you don't always see that, right?
- 49:00[SPEAKER_00]: Some guys, you have guys that just don't give up any ground, and then you have some guys that can't anchor at all, right?
- 49:10[SPEAKER_00]: So he's kind of a guy that doesn't have that initial anchor, but has pretty good recovery, right?
- 49:16[SPEAKER_00]: And if you can if you can do that with a quarterback like Malik Willis, then he can make something out of that.
- 49:23[SPEAKER_00]: But other than that, a lot of the same notes that I had on Pat Cougan in terms of position versatility, high football intelligence, another player that I think could be a versatile
- 49:35[SPEAKER_00]: interior backup for a lot of years on the NFL, but if you make some of that starting lineup probably a guy that you're looking to replace year over year.
- 49:45[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 49:46[SPEAKER_02]: All right.
- 49:46[SPEAKER_02]: We talked a lot of interior offensive linemen and I think it's important for the dolphins to grab a guy or two in this trap especially with 11 picks into the 2026 NFL draft.
- 49:59[SPEAKER_02]: But I think the most important decision
- 50:05[SPEAKER_02]: is extending Aaron Bruer, second team all pro.
- 50:10[SPEAKER_02]: He's a communicator of this offensive line and the offense.
- 50:15[SPEAKER_02]: He's a free agent after 2026.
- 50:16[SPEAKER_02]: I think this is probably the most important decision that Dolphins are going to make this off season.
- 50:22[SPEAKER_02]: And I think they should extend him before the draft comes into play.
- 50:29[SPEAKER_00]: And see, I kind of have the opposite feeling there.
- 50:31[SPEAKER_00]: I love Aaron Bruer.
- 50:35[SPEAKER_00]: But Aaron Brewer is not a not a completely scheme versatile player.
- 50:43[SPEAKER_00]: There are things that he struggles with.
- 50:45[SPEAKER_00]: And in Mike McDaniel's offense, they stayed away from a lot of that.
- 50:49[SPEAKER_00]: Not necessarily because of Aaron Brewer, but Mike McDaniel also did a really good job of emphasizing things that Aaron Brewer does well.
- 50:58[SPEAKER_00]: You heard him talking about how it opens up doors in the playbook that don't exist with other centers.
- 51:05[SPEAKER_00]: John Erick's all of him, Jeff Halfley, Bobby Slowich, I kind of want to see Aaron Brewer playing in this system.
- 51:13[SPEAKER_00]: I want to see him replicate it with Bobby Slowich calling the place.
- 51:17[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think that I don't think his contract is getting any bigger than what it is right now.
- 51:23[SPEAKER_00]: With the Tyler Linderbomb contract, Aaron Brewer is going to be looking for similar money to that.
- 51:29[SPEAKER_00]: So for me,
- 51:35[SPEAKER_00]: that he is that caliber of player.
- 51:37[SPEAKER_00]: And if he does, that I have no problem opening up the checkbook for it.
- 51:41[SPEAKER_00]: But I also don't want, you know, we just went through a scenario where we opened up the checkbook for players that, you know, didn't necessarily prove they could do it on a year over a year basis.
- 51:52[SPEAKER_00]: So just given the change in the offense, I would like to see Aaron Brue do it, you know, for a few games at least through this season, and sure that he can replicate it in this
- 52:04[SPEAKER_00]: top of the market contract for NFL centers.
- 52:08[SPEAKER_02]: You know, I don't think a lot of people have actually brought that point up with Erin Brewer haven't heard a lot of people talking about it.
- 52:16[SPEAKER_02]: And I never really thought about it either.
- 52:19[SPEAKER_02]: But I think the consensus is that they should lock him up before he gets expensive.
- 52:24[SPEAKER_02]: And I think you talked about the other side of it.
- 52:27[SPEAKER_02]: What if his play degrades under Bobby Slug?
- 52:32[SPEAKER_02]: what if slow it gives more so thinking about like okay this is what the draft plan is this is what the draft looks like you know they're not necessarily making though he's not necessarily making the playbook right now you have your own concept staples you have your gap concept
- 52:50[SPEAKER_02]: stable.
- 52:51[SPEAKER_02]: But what if Miami decides to be more so of a gap pulling team compared to a so it has more gap pulling plays than zone blocking plays just with that way.
- 53:03[SPEAKER_02]: Malik Willis feels comfortable.
- 53:05[SPEAKER_02]: So that way Patrick Paul feels comfortable.
- 53:08[SPEAKER_02]: So that way Devon Hain.
- 53:11[SPEAKER_02]: can have a more versatile skill set in the running game.
- 53:15[SPEAKER_02]: And then that may end up costing Aaron Burr some money, that may lead his play instead of second team all pro, maybe he just becomes just a proble instead of an proble.
- 53:31[SPEAKER_02]: You know, those are all good discussions to have outside of that.
