- 0:04Speaker 2: That good morning, You're waking up with Toby and Chili
- 0:07Speaker 2: a ninety seven point one Wash FM. I'm kiddoshe Chili.
- 0:10Speaker 2: How does it make you feel when someone says to
- 0:12Speaker 2: you you look cute? I just said that to you
- 0:17Speaker 2: a moment ago. Yes, and then I was like, oh,
- 0:20Speaker 2: I shouldn't say no. One should say that to anybody ever,
- 0:23Speaker 2: because it implies that other times I no, but I
- 0:27Speaker 2: wanted to clarify. After I was walking out of the studio,
- 0:30Speaker 2: I saw what you were wearing and said, hey, you
- 0:32Speaker 2: look cute. And then it's like, no, because you look
- 0:35Speaker 2: cute every day. You look very nice every day.
- 0:37Speaker 3: Thank you. Yeah, so let me tell you I'm wearing
- 0:41Speaker 3: a sweater dress. Remember I wore red lipstick and you
- 0:44Speaker 3: pointed that out. Today, I'm wearing a sweater dress because
- 0:47Speaker 3: it just felt like wearing the sweater dress. And I
- 0:49Speaker 3: don't usually wear dresses in here, so that's how I
- 0:52Speaker 3: interpreted it. He noticed I don't normally wear a dress, right,
- 0:55Speaker 3: so he made a comment about it doesn't mean you
- 0:58Speaker 3: prefer me in jeans other skirts. I just yes, thank you.
- 1:02Speaker 2: But before you tell someone they look here, just remember
- 1:05Speaker 2: maybe they'll think I never looked at.
- 1:08Speaker 3: This, or I just say I got a win.
- 1:10Speaker 2: That's why I finally look good.
- 1:11Speaker 3: There you go, I got something out of it.
- 1:13Speaker 2: Yeah, well, we hope you are getting started and having
- 1:16Speaker 2: a win today as well. Chilie's going to update us
- 1:19Speaker 2: on top stories here in just a few minutes.
- 1:20Speaker 3: All right, let's keep talking about winning. Democrats are celebrating
- 1:24Speaker 3: after big wins in not only Virginia, but New York
- 1:29Speaker 3: and New Jersey. We've got more on those stories coming
- 1:32Speaker 3: up in just a few minutes on ninety seven point

- 1:40Speaker 3: Democrats are celebrating after yesterday's key elections. Democratic socialist Zoran
- 1:45Speaker 3: Mamdani is going to be New York's next mayor. Meanwhile,
- 1:49Speaker 3: here in Virginia, Abigail Spamberger made history by winning the
- 1:53Speaker 3: election as Virginia's first female governor. Joining her victory, we
- 1:57Speaker 3: have Democrats Jay Jones elected Attorney General and Gazala Hashmi
- 2:02Speaker 3: becoming the Lieutenant governor. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy says that
- 2:06Speaker 3: sections of the country's airspace may have to be closed
- 2:10Speaker 3: if the government shut down drags on. He warned that
- 2:12Speaker 3: there will be quote mass chaos, including mass flight delays
- 2:17Speaker 3: and cancelations if the shutdown continues into next week. Flights
- 2:21Speaker 3: at Reagan National Airport were briefly halted yesterday after a
- 2:24Speaker 3: bomb threat targeted a United Airlines flight from Houston. The
- 2:28Speaker 3: plane was moved to a secure area and passengers were
- 2:31Speaker 3: safely evacuated and now the FBI is investigating. Authorities in
- 2:35Speaker 3: Prince George's County are searching for four armed suspects who
- 2:38Speaker 3: robbed a Brinks armored trug outside the Navy Federal Credit
- 2:42Speaker 3: Union in Clinton on Monday. A Brink's employees sustained minor
- 2:45Speaker 3: injuries during the assault. A new report ranks hospitals in
- 2:49Speaker 3: the DC area among the dirtiest in the country. The
- 2:52Speaker 3: study measured cleanliness based on infection rates, inspection results, and
- 2:57Speaker 3: reports of unclean bathrooms and rooms. Now Delaware topped the
- 3:01Speaker 3: list for the dirtiest hospitals, but it was followed by
- 3:03Speaker 3: DC and thousands of Jeep plug in hybrid SUVs have
- 3:08Speaker 3: been recalled by Chrysler because of a risk of battery fires.
- 3:11Speaker 3: The recall applies to Jeep wranglers with model years twenty

- 3:29Speaker 3: in Germantown.
- 3:30Speaker 2: All right, Chili, thanks a lot. Coming up next to
- 3:31Speaker 2: our morning mindset, Chili will read us an inspirational quote
- 3:35Speaker 2: to get us in the right mindset and we'll share
- 3:37Speaker 2: that with you. Next Great Nineties throwback to the foujis
- 3:40Speaker 2: ninety seven point one Wash FM with Toby and Chili
- 3:43Speaker 2: in the morning. I'm kiddoshe inspiring you every day with
- 3:46Speaker 2: an inspirational quote. It's time for our morning mindset.
- 3:49Speaker 3: This one is by Sidney Jay Harris, who said the
- 3:52Speaker 3: whole purpose of education is to turn mirrors into windows.
- 3:56Speaker 3: He's saying that the goal of education isn't just to
- 3:58Speaker 3: make you reflect on yourself, but to help you see
- 4:01Speaker 3: and understand the world around you. You know, a mirror
- 4:03Speaker 3: represents looking only at yourself. A window represents seeing beyond
- 4:08Speaker 3: your own perspective and also discovering new ideas, people, and experiences.
- 4:13Speaker 3: It is about turning knowledge into insight and curiosity about
- 4:18Speaker 3: the world. So again, Sydney Jay Harris said, the whole
- 4:22Speaker 3: purpose of education is to turn mirrors into windows. And
- 4:27Speaker 3: you can find that quote on the Toobian Chili page,
- 4:30Speaker 3: or you could also follow WASHFM on Instagram where we
- 4:34Speaker 3: post it every day.
- 4:35Speaker 2: Yes, and then you can share it with a friend
- 4:37Speaker 2: that may need to hear that quote. I love our
- 4:39Speaker 2: morning mindset because of that. All right, thank you very much,
- 4:42Speaker 2: Chili coming up next. Yesterday we were talking to listeners
- 4:45Speaker 2: that have already finished their Christmas decorating and guess what,
- 4:49Speaker 2: they're not alone. We are continuing our conversation at eight
- 4:52Speaker 2: six six, nine two seven four three sixty one. Do
- 4:55Speaker 2: you know someone who already has all of their Christmas
- 4:57Speaker 2: decorations up? Or you can always leave us a talk
- 5:00Speaker 2: by opening up the iHeart app and using the red
- 5:02Speaker 2: microphone to leave a message. Toby and Tilly in the
- 5:05Speaker 2: Morning ninety seven point one wash FM, I'm kidd O'Shea.
- 5:08Speaker 2: It is November fifth, uh huh, and some people already
- 5:12Speaker 2: have their Christmas decorations completely done.
- 5:14Speaker 5: Well.
- 5:14Speaker 3: Yesterday we had a caller who said that he had
- 5:17Speaker 3: decorated for Christmas by the end of Halloween. So we're like, really,
- 5:21Speaker 3: how often does that happen? Apparently, kid, that caller wasn't
- 5:26Speaker 3: the only one.
- 5:27Speaker 2: Yeah, we got to talk back. You can leave us
- 5:29Speaker 2: a talk back anytime by opening up the iHeart app
- 5:31Speaker 2: and using the red microphone and leaving us a message.
- 5:34Speaker 3: So Shara in Waldorf left us this one.
- 5:37Speaker 6: And I think it's totally valid to start decorating for
- 5:41Speaker 6: Christmas this time because some people they like to celebrate early,
- 5:47Speaker 6: especially Filipinos, they start decorating in October because there's these
- 5:52Speaker 6: things called the Ber months, which is October, November, December,
- 5:55Speaker 6: and that's for Christmas celebrations specifically, and you know, it's
- 5:58Speaker 6: really fun and very fast for people in the Philippines.
- 6:02Speaker 3: I didn't know that.
- 6:03Speaker 2: Some people I learned that today too, they might start
- 6:05Speaker 2: decorating now in October because of that.
- 6:07Speaker 3: And now we've got someone calling in Newburgh.
- 6:11Speaker 2: Greed, good morning. What did you want to say?
- 6:14Speaker 3: I'm just calling to let you guys know.
- 6:16Speaker 5: I started putting up Christmas to core on Halloween night
- 6:21Speaker 5: and completely done.
- 6:23Speaker 3: Wow. Is this something you do every year? Or you
- 6:26Speaker 3: just inspired to get ahead start this year?
- 6:28Speaker 2: Bree For many years.
- 6:29Speaker 5: When my kids were growing up, we always did it
- 6:32Speaker 5: on Thanksgiving night, But now that I've got grand children,
- 6:36Speaker 5: it's been before Thanksgiving.
- 6:38Speaker 3: When do you typically take down everything?
- 6:41Speaker 5: When everybody leaves on Christmas night? I start putting some
- 6:46Speaker 5: of this stuff away that night.
- 6:48Speaker 2: Oh, so you don't wait at all.
- 6:50Speaker 5: I'm like, I'm ready for the house to be back
- 6:52Speaker 5: to normal. So it's usually right after Christmas, like the
- 6:55Speaker 5: next day.
- 6:56Speaker 3: Thanks so much for listening and for making us a
- 6:58Speaker 3: part of your debris. Thanks you have a good day, all.
- 7:01Speaker 2: Right, Chilli. Now, after hearing this, does this inspire you
- 7:04Speaker 2: to get started earlier this year than you normally would?
- 7:06Speaker 3: I may just do it the week of Thanksgiving, but
- 7:09Speaker 3: not now, not now, Chu, the house is just not
- 7:12Speaker 3: ready all right.

- 18:29Speaker 2: sevent ten. Right here on ninety seven point one wash FM.
- 18:34Speaker 2: Good morning, It's Toby and Chilly in the Morning ninety
- 18:36Speaker 2: seven point one wash FM, I'm kidd O'Shea. Do your
- 18:39Speaker 2: kids ever ask you questions you can't answer well?
- 18:43Speaker 3: Yesterday and Top Stories shared a survey that said that
- 18:47Speaker 3: on average, parents are asked forty six questions a day
- 18:50Speaker 3: by their kids, and thirty eight percent of the time
- 18:54Speaker 3: they have no clue what the answer is. Now, forty
- 18:56Speaker 3: six seems like a lot, and it is because I
- 18:59Speaker 3: think when you're kids are really young, they're discovering the
- 19:02Speaker 3: world and they want to know why certain things are
- 19:04Speaker 3: the way they are. As they get older and they
- 19:06Speaker 3: have access to the internet, they can look up the
- 19:08Speaker 3: answer themselves. My son, who is twelve now, asks so
- 19:14Speaker 3: many questions that I have had to google more than
- 19:18Speaker 3: thirty eight.
- 19:18Speaker 2: Percent of the okay, And do you think he asks
- 19:21Speaker 2: an average of forty six or is he above average
- 19:23Speaker 2: or right in the middle or below.
- 19:25Speaker 3: It's gotten less because he's gotten old. But the most
- 19:28Speaker 3: recent one that comes to mind, he says to me,
- 19:32Speaker 3: why is the sky blue if it's black and outer space? Dang,
- 19:40Speaker 3: good question, dinatohk valid questions, So of course I went
- 19:43Speaker 3: to the internet.
- 19:44Speaker 2: Uncle kid can't answer Chili.
- 19:46Speaker 3: Can exactly anybody out there who can, But no, of
- 19:49Speaker 3: course I looked it up. In short, it's because the
- 19:51Speaker 3: blue on Earth comes from scattering in the atmosphere. Black
- 19:54Speaker 3: in space comes from the lack of an atmosphere to
- 19:56Speaker 3: scatter light. Okay, that's the short answer. But I would
- 20:00Speaker 3: love to hear what is a question a kid asked
- 20:04Speaker 3: you that totally stumped you that you have to admit
- 20:07Speaker 3: that you had to go to Google or the Internet
- 20:09Speaker 3: to get the answer?
- 20:09Speaker 2: All right, I like that eight six six nine two
- 20:11Speaker 2: seven four three six one eight six six wash FM

- 20:40Speaker 3: Eight percent of the time parents have to look up
- 20:43Speaker 3: the answer to the questions that the kids asked, because
- 20:46Speaker 3: we apparently don't know everything.
- 20:48Speaker 2: Yeah, eight six six nine two seven four three six one.
- 20:52Speaker 2: Liz in Gaithersburg, a kid once asked me, if you
- 20:56Speaker 2: ate a magnet.
- 20:57Speaker 7: Would your stomach stick to the fridge. I have to
- 21:00Speaker 7: seriously bar and respect how chaotic and brilliant.

- 21:24Speaker 2: can have bright days full of warm weather. Seem to work.
- 21:28Speaker 2: That makes sense, sounds like an answer I would give
- 21:31Speaker 2: not much research.
- 21:32Speaker 3: It'll work temporarily, but then they're going to come back
- 21:35Speaker 3: with follow up questions and you're like, uh, give me
- 21:38Speaker 3: a minute.
