Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Stirring the pot one morning at a time.
- 0:04Speaker 2: Welcome to the Alabama show. You know what I just remembered?
- 0:16Speaker 2: What's that? That it's a four day work week. Oh,
- 0:20Speaker 2: it is. It's Wednesday.
- 0:22Speaker 3: Yeah, I forgot that totally existed.
- 0:25Speaker 2: I know. I'm so excited. But yesterday was like the
- 0:29Speaker 2: Monday is Tuesday ever. Because remember, I accidentally hit five
- 0:32Speaker 2: things at once and you heard like 20 of me's.
- 0:35Speaker 3: That was the scariest moment I think of my life.
- 0:38Speaker 3: Hearing more than one of you was like, what?
- 0:40Speaker 1: No.
- 0:41Speaker 2: What about if there were like 10 Alabamas in the world?
- 0:44Speaker 3: I don't want to think that.
- 0:45Speaker 2: That would be so cool. I'm the girl in Alabama,
- 0:48Speaker 2: by the way. Thanks for listening. It'd be awesome.
- 0:50Speaker 3: Well, I mean, we can all hope for different things.
- 0:53Speaker 1: I guess.
- 0:54Speaker 2: Anyway, good morning. Thank you for listening to the show.
- 0:56Speaker 2: It's going to be a good day on the way.
- 0:58Speaker 2: What the hell headline? 650 and 850. Crazy things people
- 1:01Speaker 2: are doing in the news. Also, if you have good
- 1:03Speaker 2: news that you want to share, we do What's Awesome
- 1:06Speaker 2: at 740. Maybe you could win something. We would love
- 1:08Speaker 2: to hear your good news. 833-501-BAMA is the number.
- 1:12Speaker 4: Stop.
- 1:13Speaker 2: It's what the hell headlines. What the hell are you
- 1:15Speaker 2: talking about?
- 1:16Speaker 1: On the Alabama show.
- 1:19Speaker 2: A drunk passenger got duct taped to a seat on
- 1:23Speaker 2: an American Airlines flight.
- 1:25Speaker 1: What the hell?
- 1:26Speaker 2: Did you see this? This went viral over the weekend.
- 1:28Speaker 2: The photos of the guy that was duct taped to
- 1:30Speaker 2: the seat.
- 1:31Speaker 3: No, I've heard of it. Not seen anything.
- 1:32Speaker 1: Oh, look. Hang on.
- 1:33Speaker 2: Let me show you. So there was a 67-year-old man
- 1:36Speaker 2: on American Airlines. Like, his head is duct taped around
- 1:40Speaker 2: his whole body. They made him look like a mummy. Yeah.
- 1:42Speaker 2: And I wonder if he can sue him. He was
- 1:44Speaker 2: going from New Jersey. Well, the flight was from Dallas
- 1:47Speaker 2: to New Jersey, and it had to get diverted to
- 1:49Speaker 2: Baltimore because he became violently disrupted. Arthur is his name,
- 1:54Speaker 2: 67 years old, was drunk. He started yelling at another passenger.
- 1:58Speaker 2: A flight attendant intervened. He screamed obscenities at the flight attendant.
- 2:02Speaker 2: So they all had to hold him down and duct
- 2:04Speaker 2: tape him like his hands are duct taped together. This
- 2:06Speaker 2: is crazy. Well, it might have been needed.
- 2:08Speaker 1: What the hell?
- 2:13Speaker 2: Amanda, good morning. Where are you calling from?
- 2:16Speaker 5: I'm in the car and going to work at UAB.
- 2:19Speaker 2: Awesome. Thank you for what you do. What do you
- 2:21Speaker 2: do at UAB?
- 2:22Speaker 5: I'm a nurse.
- 2:23Speaker 2: Well, thank you for what you do. We appreciate you
- 2:25Speaker 2: and we love our nurses.
- 2:27Speaker 6: Thanks.
- 2:28Speaker 2: Amanda, do you want to play Super Easy Trivia to
- 2:30Speaker 2: see if you are smarter than producer Blake?
- 2:32Speaker 6: Yes. All right.
- 2:33Speaker 2: I'll ask the questions. Use your name as your buzzer.
- 2:36Speaker 2: Today up for grabs is a pair of Rock the
- 2:39Speaker 2: South tickets. After you say your name, just give the
- 2:42Speaker 2: answer really fast. Okay.
- 2:45Speaker 6: All right.
- 2:45Speaker 2: Question number one. What is the name of the pirate
- 2:48Speaker 2: in Peter Pan?
- 2:50Speaker 3: Producer Blake.
- 2:51Speaker 2: Captain Hook. Amanda, say the answer. Captain Hook. She said
- 2:56Speaker 2: her name. You totally cut her off. I said Producer Blake. Yeah,
- 2:59Speaker 2: but she said Amanda first.
- 3:00Speaker 1: Amanda.
- 3:01Speaker 2: Okay, next one.
- 3:02Speaker 5: All right.
- 3:03Speaker 2: When you say your name, say the answer right after.
- 3:05Speaker 2: All right, Amanda. Okay, okay.
- 3:07Speaker 3: Next one.
- 3:07Speaker 2: How many days are in a year?
- 3:09Speaker 3: Producer Blake. She didn't say Amanda.
- 3:12Speaker 2: It doesn't matter.
- 3:13Speaker 3: It does matter.
- 3:14Speaker 2: The games are the rules. No, Amanda has the point.
- 3:17Speaker 2: Last one for the win. On a farm, what is
- 3:21Speaker 2: a kid? Producer Blake.
- 3:22Speaker 1: Good job, Amanda.
- 3:23Speaker 3: She's going to have the rules.
- 3:35Speaker 2: Congratulations, Amanda. You just won Super Easy Trivia.
- 3:38Speaker 5: Thank you.
- 3:39Speaker 4: It's three things you need to know with the Alabama Show.
- 3:43Speaker 2: The Birmingham Zoo was just named Alabama's Attraction of the Year,
- 3:47Speaker 2: which is awesome. So congratulations to the Birmingham Zoo. The
- 3:50Speaker 2: Alabama Tourism Department said they named them for their tourism
- 3:56Speaker 2: growth and conservation work. So that's awesome. If you haven't
- 3:59Speaker 2: been to the Birmingham Zoo, it's worth checking out. If
- 4:01Speaker 2: you owe back taxes, the IRS Fresh Start program has
- 4:05Speaker 2: relief for taxpayers who owe thousands in back taxes. You
- 4:08Speaker 2: can apply for the Fresh Start program. The deadline is
- 4:12Speaker 2: this week, and it's free to see if you qualify,
- 4:14Speaker 2: and it only takes a few minutes to find out.
- 4:16Speaker 2: So if you owe back taxes, I would say go
- 4:18Speaker 2: to freshstartinfo.org. The deadline is September 15th. Girl Scouts. Announced
- 4:24Speaker 2: a new cookie called Patch Pals. What's the Patch Pals?
- 4:27Speaker 2: It's a dog treat.
- 4:29Speaker 3: What, the actual dog treat, or it looks like one?
- 4:31Speaker 2: No, it's a dog treat. It is a soft-baked blueberry
- 4:35Speaker 2: muffin-flavored cookie for dogs, and it's got dogs on the front.
- 4:38Speaker 2: Al Roker tried one on television. No! So it's safe
- 4:42Speaker 2: if a person accidentally eats it, but it is made
- 4:45Speaker 2: for your dogs.
- 4:46Speaker 3: So I'm guessing it only tastes good for dogs.
- 4:49Speaker 2: I mean, it's a blueberry muffin flavored cookie, so I
- 4:52Speaker 2: don't know. Maybe I'll buy one and you'll eat it
- 4:55Speaker 2: on the show.
- 4:55Speaker 3: All right, we'll see how that goes.
- 4:57Speaker 6: I know.
- 4:57Speaker 2: I think that's kind of cool that the Girl Scouts
- 4:59Speaker 2: did that. That's three things you need to know. More
- 5:02Speaker 2: at thealabamashow.com.
- 5:04Speaker 4: The Alabama Show on demand, free on the iHeartRadio app.
- 5:09Speaker 2: 833-501-BAMA is the number to call the show. If you
- 5:11Speaker 2: ever have an issue for Ask Alabama, Lindsay, good morning.
- 5:14Speaker 2: Who's driving you nuts right now?
- 5:16Speaker 6: My roommate who doesn't clean as well as I do,
- 5:19Speaker 6: and there are always dishes in the sink, and she
- 5:22Speaker 6: keeps buying things and filling up our apartment with things
- 5:27Speaker 6: that we don't need.
- 5:28Speaker 2: Like what? What was her most recent purchase?
- 5:32Speaker 6: She wanted these two lamps that were in the shapes
- 5:35Speaker 6: of ghosts.
- 5:37Speaker 2: Oh, this is producer Blake.
- 5:39Speaker 6: And I was like, why do we need those?
- 5:41Speaker 5: And she said, because they're cute.
- 5:43Speaker 6: And I said, you have nowhere to put them. Where
- 5:44Speaker 6: are they going to go?
- 5:45Speaker 2: And she was like, well, I don't know.
- 5:46Speaker 6: And I was like, what do you mean?
- 5:47Speaker 2: Well, it's almost Halloween. She's decorating for you. You're welcome.
- 5:53Speaker 6: I think she wants them year round, though.
- 5:56Speaker 2: Like ghosts in the apartment. Like....
- 5:59Speaker 6: She wants them to be out all the time. And
- 6:01Speaker 6: I don't want two ghosts out all the time.
- 6:03Speaker 2: What do y'all do when, like, when she leaves dishes
- 6:05Speaker 2: and she's messy and she doesn't clean like you do?
- 6:08Speaker 2: Have y'all argued over it or tried to come up
- 6:10Speaker 2: with a schedule? Or what do you do? How do
- 6:12Speaker 2: you handle that?
- 6:13Speaker 6: I mean, not yet.
- 6:14Speaker 3: I haven't said anything yet.
- 6:16Speaker 6: But mostly because, like... She was the one that bought
- 6:19Speaker 6: the cleaning supplies, I guess, last time.
- 6:21Speaker 2: That's what she ain't using them.
- 6:23Speaker 6: So I was like, well, I guess, you know, since
- 6:26Speaker 6: I didn't pay for it, like I'll clean. So it's
- 6:28Speaker 6: kind of been like my internal negotiation. But like once
- 6:31Speaker 6: I start buying these cleaning supplies, it's going.
- 6:33Speaker 1: To be different.
- 6:34Speaker 2: You are married and you don't even know it yet.
- 6:37Speaker 2: Like this is what marriage is like.
- 6:39Speaker 4: Oh, no.
- 6:39Speaker 6: I'm not very excited about it.
- 6:43Speaker 2: What else does she do that drives you nuts? I
- 6:45Speaker 2: know there's more. I've lived with people. I know you're
- 6:48Speaker 2: holding back.
- 6:49Speaker 3: Let it rip.
- 6:49Speaker 2: Come on. What else does she do?
- 6:51Speaker 6: She also has a dog, and he sheds a lot.
- 6:54Speaker 6: And there's, like, tufts of hair all over the floor
- 6:57Speaker 6: all the time.
- 6:59Speaker 2: And I... She, like, sweeps kind of. But then, like.
- 7:09Speaker 5: It's not good.
- 7:11Speaker 2: I feel like you're describing what it's like to live
- 7:14Speaker 2: with me.
- 7:15Speaker 3: You live together. This is the situation.
- 7:18Speaker 2: If I could call my ex right now and put
- 7:20Speaker 2: you all on the phone together, he would be like, oh,
- 7:22Speaker 2: my God, you live with Alabama. That's funny. Call the show.
- 7:29Speaker 2: I don't even know what advice to give you. I
- 7:31Speaker 2: think just living with people is hard and no two
- 7:33Speaker 2: people are the same. And that's what makes your relationship work.
- 7:36Speaker 2: But what's it like for you at your house and
- 7:39Speaker 2: how do you handle not liking how other people do things?
- 7:42Speaker 2: 833-501-BAMA is the number.
- 7:43Speaker 1: That's 833-501-2262.
- 7:48Speaker 4: It's three things you need to know with the Alabama Show.
- 7:51Speaker 2: We have a heat advisory in effect today from 11 a.m.
- 7:54Speaker 2: till 8 p.m. with a heat index of up to
- 7:56Speaker 2: 109 degrees. Make sure you drink plenty of water. Try
- 7:59Speaker 2: to stay out of the sun and in the A.C.
- 8:01Speaker 2: as much as possible. Ariana Grande has, surprise, released an album, Pedal,
- 8:06Speaker 2: the complete live album, yesterday. She announced it, and it
- 8:09Speaker 2: has live versions of all 12 tracks on the album Pedal.
- 8:13Speaker 2: Also included on the record is a version of Hate
- 8:15Speaker 2: That I Made You Love Me, which was recorded during
- 8:18Speaker 2: a rehearsal for her tour, which is awesome. If you
- 8:20Speaker 2: want to get that, it's exclusively on iTunes. And AI
- 8:24Speaker 2: can now run a background check on first dates. There's
- 8:27Speaker 2: a new service that does this.
- 8:29Speaker 3: Why aren't they doing this before?
- 8:31Speaker 2: This is a great idea. I love this. It uses
- 8:34Speaker 2: a database of public records to help daters dig up
- 8:37Speaker 2: dirt on their potential matches. It's called Stud or Dud.
- 8:41Speaker 2: It uses information from peoplefinders.com and it'll highlight red or
- 8:45Speaker 2: green flags about the person. So if they've ever been arrested...
- 8:48Speaker 2: If they save kittens from trees. That may not be
- 8:52Speaker 2: on there, but you know. Well, you know, still good stuff.
- 8:54Speaker 4: That's good.
- 8:55Speaker 1: That's good.
- 8:55Speaker 2: I love it. So if you want to use AI
- 8:57Speaker 2: to check your matches, Stud or Dud is the new service.
- 9:00Speaker 2: That's three things you need to know. More at thealabamashow.com.
- 9:05Speaker 4: The Alabama Show, on demand, free on the iHeartRadio app.
- 9:10Speaker 2: 833-501-BAMA is the number to call the show. Sarah, good morning.
- 9:14Speaker 2: What's your good news?
- 9:15Speaker 5: Today is my 30th birthday.
- 9:17Speaker 2: Girl!
- 9:19Speaker 3: What are you going to do?
- 9:21Speaker 2: How are you going to celebrate?
- 9:23Speaker 5: Going to work, but then my amazing boyfriend is taking
- 9:26Speaker 5: me to dinner to get some seafood for my birthday.
- 9:28Speaker 2: Yes. Did you wake up and cry this morning, or
- 9:31Speaker 2: were you excited? Has it hit you yet that you're 30?
- 9:34Speaker 5: I think I'm more excited. My 20s weren't always the best,
- 9:38Speaker 5: but my 30s are definitely going to be better.
- 9:40Speaker 2: Girl, you have more money in your 30s, and you
- 9:42Speaker 2: get to do so many more fun things. You're going
- 9:44Speaker 2: to have a great 30th.
- 9:45Speaker 4: Yes.
- 9:45Speaker 1: Yes.
- 9:48Speaker 5: Exactly.
- 9:50Speaker 2: That is great. Well, happy birthday. Thank you for sharing.
- 9:53Speaker 5: Thank you so much.
- 9:55Speaker 1: The Alabama Show on demand.
- 9:57Speaker 4: Amazing.
- 9:58Speaker 1: Free on the iHeartRadio app.
- 9:59Speaker 2: Producer Blake got cussed out over the weekend.
- 10:02Speaker 3: It was a little bit weird for me, yeah.
- 10:04Speaker 2: I bet you liked it.
- 10:05Speaker 3: I did a little bit, yeah. It gave me a
- 10:07Speaker 3: little bit of a thrill.
- 10:08Speaker 2: Thanks for listening to The Alabama Show. I'm Alabama with
- 10:11Speaker 2: Producer Blake. What happened? You went to a concert and
- 10:14Speaker 2: a guy got mad?
- 10:15Speaker 3: I was just standing there in the merch line, and
- 10:18Speaker 3: a dude starts running up towards the merch line, and
- 10:21Speaker 3: he's cussing like crazy. And I'm like, oh, man, whoever
- 10:24Speaker 3: that is is about.
- 10:25Speaker 2: To get it. Was he drunk? I don't know.
- 10:27Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 10:28Speaker 3: So I'm standing there, and he's like walking pretty quick
- 10:32Speaker 3: with a purpose up to the line. And he's like
- 10:35Speaker 3: saying some horrendous things. And I go, man, whoever's in
- 10:39Speaker 3: line about to get this is going to deserve it.
- 10:40Speaker 3: So I'm sitting there waiting. I'm looking. The dude comes
- 10:44Speaker 3: up to me, points his finger in my face.
- 10:46Speaker 1: To you?
- 10:46Speaker 2: Yes. He was coming after you. What did you do?
- 10:48Speaker 3: I looked at him, like, kind of shocked, wide-eyed a
- 10:51Speaker 3: little bit, and I went, what?
- 10:53Speaker 2: Why was he specifically cussing you out?
- 10:56Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 10:57Speaker 3: He just came up to me and, like, started cussing. Like,
- 11:00Speaker 3: it was nonsense. Complete cussing. My friend goes, do you
- 11:03Speaker 3: know that guy? I said, I've never seen that guy
- 11:06Speaker 3: before in my life.
- 11:07Speaker 2: I don't know who that is.
- 11:08Speaker 3: The dude in line beside me goes... This is the
- 11:10Speaker 3: most interesting merch line I've ever been in.
- 11:12Speaker 2: I go, do you know this guy?
- 11:14Speaker 3: He goes, no.
- 11:15Speaker 2: Maybe you bumped into him at the concert or something.
- 11:20Speaker 3: No, he's sitting there wearing, like, leather, like, overalls. And
- 11:24Speaker 3: he's with two women. And the women are just sitting there, like,
- 11:26Speaker 3: as happy as could be. And I'm like... Hey, man,
- 11:30Speaker 3: do I know you? He goes, yeah, you know me.
- 11:33Speaker 3: Do you not recognize my face? I said, I'm so sorry, man. No,
- 11:36Speaker 3: I don't know you. He starts cussing me out again
- 11:39Speaker 3: because I.
- 11:39Speaker 1: Don't know who he is.
- 11:40Speaker 2: Did you walk away? What'd you do?
- 11:41Speaker 3: I couldn't. I'm in the middle of the line, and
- 11:43Speaker 3: there's a gate keeping me in the line at this
- 11:45Speaker 3: point because I got that far up. So the dude
- 11:48Speaker 3: gets in my face and goes, next time I see you,
- 11:50Speaker 3: it won't just be talk.
- 11:51Speaker 6: And I said.
- 11:53Speaker 1: All right.
- 11:53Speaker 2: Yes, sir.
- 11:54Speaker 3: I said, all right, man.
- 11:55Speaker 2: Nobody intervened? Did any security guards.
- 11:58Speaker 3: Come up or anything? No, people just stared at me.
- 12:00Speaker 2: I was like, do you know how to fight?
- 12:03Speaker 3: Yeah, I know how to fight. But I was like,
- 12:05Speaker 3: am I the bad guy in this situation?
- 12:07Speaker 2: Do we need to sign you up for karate lessons?
- 12:09Speaker 3: No, no, no. But I was like, did I looked
- 12:13Speaker 3: at the guy beside me and said, did I cause that?
- 12:15Speaker 3: He goes, you just stood here the whole time. So
- 12:19Speaker 3: I'm still a little confused on what I could have done.
- 12:21Speaker 2: Call the show.
- 12:23Speaker 3: I don't know what happened. It was a weird situation.
- 12:26Speaker 2: 833-501-BEMA is the number. Has anything like this ever happened
- 12:31Speaker 2: to you when you went out to a concert or
- 12:33Speaker 2: in public? That's 833-501-2262. The Alabama Show on demand.
- 12:39Speaker 1: Free on the iHeartRadio app.
- 12:41Speaker 2: Okay, you ready to go home? Yeah, I guess I
- 12:43Speaker 2: can do that, yeah.
- 12:44Speaker 1: All right.
- 12:44Speaker 2: We are done. Anything you missed on the show today,
- 12:47Speaker 2: download the free iHeartRadio app, look up The Alabama Show
