- 0:00Speaker 1: 877-99 on Fox. I don't know why I'm giving out
- 0:03Speaker 1: the phone number. Dominic F * * * worth. Foxworth.
- 0:07Speaker 2: To get the all boat. The all boat. To get
- 0:11Speaker 2: the all boat. The all boat. To get the all boat.
- 0:15Speaker 2: The all boat.
- 0:17Speaker 3: My shorts are tight.
- 0:18Speaker 2: I feel like your abdominal is about to explode. I
- 0:21Speaker 2: feel like your abdominal. I feel like your abdominal. I
- 0:24Speaker 2: feel like your abdominal.
- 0:26Speaker 1: Dominic F * * * worth.
- 0:31Speaker 2: So it's abdomen?
- 0:33Speaker 1: I'm not sure. It's a tough word. It's a tough
- 0:36Speaker 1: one for me.
- 0:37Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 0:39Speaker 1: Abdomen.
- 0:41Speaker 4: And I know because I have one.
- 0:43Speaker 1: Six pack. We can't speak. And we speak for a living.
- 0:50Speaker 1: It's weird.
- 0:51Speaker 5: Perhaps because we're speaking too much in too many places,
- 0:54Speaker 5: all three of us. Mikey A has been clean, though.
- 0:56Speaker 5: I got to be honest with you. I didn't hear
- 0:58Speaker 5: any Mikey A in that open right there.
- 1:00Speaker 1: Did you?
- 1:00Speaker 4: Knocking on wood here.
- 1:03Speaker 1: You're up. Do something. Get the heat off of me
- 1:07Speaker 1: for crying out loud. Come on, Iowa Sam.
- 1:12Speaker 5: There is a year-long investigation that has been completed by
- 1:16Speaker 5: the NBA as it relates to Kawhi Leonard. John Fanta
- 1:21Speaker 5: is going to join us coming up here in about
- 1:23Speaker 5: 20 to 30 minutes. Looking forward to speaking with him.
- 1:25Speaker 5: What'd you guys make of this investigation? The Clippers here
- 1:29Speaker 5: have lost five first round picks. Steve Ballmer, $ 30 million
- 1:34Speaker 5: in fines, plus a year long suspension. Lawrence Frank and
- 1:38Speaker 5: Gillian Zucker suspended six months each. Kawhi Leonard must pay
- 1:42Speaker 5: $ 700, 000 in restitution, which is nothing to him. The fines
- 1:47Speaker 5: don't mean anything to them. It's the draft picks and
- 1:50Speaker 5: being found guilty by the NBA. What do you guys think?
- 1:52Speaker 2: The biggest thing to me is the biggest winner in
- 1:55Speaker 2: all this, Pablo Torre.
- 1:57Speaker 5: Oh, yeah.
- 1:57Speaker 1: Big winner.
- 1:59Speaker 2: Because there was that report from ESPN a couple weeks
- 2:02Speaker 2: ago where they ran a story suggesting that the NBA
- 2:04Speaker 2: did not find evidence that Steve Ballmer funneled money to
- 2:08Speaker 2: Kawhi Leonard. And now it's a bad look for ESPN
- 2:11Speaker 2: because you had people like Ty Lawson trying to dance
- 2:14Speaker 2: on Pablo Torre's grave for inaccurate reporting.
- 2:17Speaker 3: Right.
- 2:18Speaker 2: And Stu, if you remember at the time, what we
- 2:19Speaker 2: said is Pablo's not wrong.
- 2:22Speaker 6: Yes.
- 2:22Speaker 2: We can promise you with how much work Pablo puts
- 2:24Speaker 2: into his reporting.
- 2:25Speaker 5: Right.
- 2:25Speaker 2: Pablo's not wrong. Pablo knows something that the NBA didn't.
- 2:29Speaker 2: And I saw a tweet from Pablo yesterday, basically like
- 2:32Speaker 2: a thinking man emoji before this all dropped.
- 2:35Speaker 6: Yes.
- 2:35Speaker 2: And I was like, oh, no, Pablo has something. Overall,
- 2:38Speaker 2: with the Kawhi story, though, this is such a steep
- 2:42Speaker 2: price for what the Clippers are being accused of and
- 2:46Speaker 2: what the NBA eventually found them guilty for.
- 2:48Speaker 1: I mean, they cheated, Taylor.
- 2:49Speaker 2: Yeah, and then when you factor in what they traded
- 2:55Speaker 2: to get him and then the NBA sanctions, Kawhi Leonard
- 3:00Speaker 2: cost the Clippers. Ready for this. A 2021 first-round pick,
- 3:04Speaker 2: a 2022 first-round pick, a 2023 first-round pick, a 2023
- 3:09Speaker 2: first-round pick swap, a 2024 first-round pick, a 2025 first-round
- 3:12Speaker 2: pick swap, 2026 first-round pick, 2029 first-round pick, 2030 first-round pick,
- 3:17Speaker 2: 2031 first-round pick, 2032 first-round pick, 2033 first-round pick.
- 3:23Speaker 5: Oh, yeah.
- 3:24Speaker 2: Daniil Gallinari, Shea Gildas Alexander, the two-time reigning MVP, a
- 3:28Speaker 2: $ 30 million fine. Steve Ballmer suspended for a year. And
- 3:32Speaker 2: all this for what? Kawhi didn't play in L.A. They
- 3:35Speaker 2: didn't win anything of significance.
- 3:37Speaker 4: Right. He averaged 47 games a year. They paid all
- 3:43Speaker 4: like you didn't do all that and get Tom Brady
- 3:46Speaker 4: and be like, hey, listen, we got six Super Bowls.
- 3:48Speaker 4: We're good.
- 3:48Speaker 1: Right.
- 3:48Speaker 4: Like, no, you got 47 games a year of mediocre
- 3:54Speaker 4: on a mediocre team.
- 3:55Speaker 5: Mediocre team, but a great player. But he only gave
- 3:58Speaker 5: you 47 great games per year.
- 4:00Speaker 1: Yes.
- 4:00Speaker 4: Yes. 47 times a year, he was a great player.
- 4:03Speaker 6: Yes.
- 4:03Speaker 2: There was a point in Pablo's early reporting where he
- 4:07Speaker 2: had floated out the idea of, I'm going to start
- 4:09Speaker 2: looking into Jalen Brunson because that contract might be fishy. Now,
- 4:13Speaker 2: Pablo has since come out and said, there's nothing to
- 4:16Speaker 2: that report. I don't think there's anything there.
- 4:19Speaker 3: I think.
- 4:20Speaker 2: that the Knicks handled it the right way.
- 4:22Speaker 1: I told them to back the fuck off is what
- 4:24Speaker 1: I told them. Yes.
- 4:25Speaker 2: But in that case, if this report comes out tomorrow
- 4:30Speaker 2: about the Knicks circumventing the cap to get Jalen Brunson, okay,
- 4:33Speaker 2: the Knicks eventually went on to win a title, and
- 4:36Speaker 2: then the NBA would have to decide, like, do we
- 4:39Speaker 2: take away the Knicks title?
- 4:41Speaker 1: Right, right.
- 4:41Speaker 2: But also, on the other end of that, it's like
- 4:44Speaker 2: when USC tried to take away Reggie Bush's Heisman. Our
- 4:49Speaker 2: memories still work from that year. We remember how good
- 4:51Speaker 2: Reggie Bush was at USC. You could take away the
- 4:55Speaker 2: Heisman trophy from Reggie Bush. He's still the Heisman to us.
- 4:58Speaker 2: So even if the NBA tried to take away the
- 5:01Speaker 2: Knicks title, this is just my way of saying it.
- 5:03Speaker 2: It still counts in my personal.
- 5:04Speaker 1: Put it on the poll, Taylor.
- 5:05Speaker 5: Is Reggie Bush okay with just us saying he was
- 5:10Speaker 5: the Heisman Trophy winner that year?
- 5:12Speaker 1: He would like the trophy to validate what it is
- 5:14Speaker 1: he did.
- 5:14Speaker 5: But what you're saying here is, if indeed the Knicks
- 5:17Speaker 5: did cheat, at least they won a championship by doing it.
- 5:21Speaker 1: They didn't. Pablo was backed off.
- 5:23Speaker 5: The Clippers did all this to get 40-some-odd games of
- 5:25Speaker 5: Kawhi Leonard and never advanced to a conference final.
- 5:28Speaker 1: How about that?
- 5:29Speaker 2: With the Clippers doing this for Kawhi Leonard, the juice
- 5:32Speaker 2: was not worth the squeeze. Ah. For the Knicks, the
- 5:35Speaker 2: juice would have been worth the squeeze because it ended
- 5:38Speaker 2: with you celebrating with a parade.
- 5:40Speaker 1: Of course. Yes. You're muted.
- 5:45Speaker 4: I got to bring out my inner Israel Gutierrez right now.
- 5:48Speaker 1: Right.
- 5:48Speaker 4: How the hell are we talking about the Knicks? How
- 5:51Speaker 4: the hell did this story bring us talking about the Knicks?
- 5:53Speaker 5: Well, that's because Taylor took us there. That's why he
- 5:56Speaker 5: always does. It was just to highlight the fact that, like,
- 6:00Speaker 5: the Clippers did all this cheating for what? To get
- 6:05Speaker 5: Kawhi Leonard. I mean, that's why they did it. The
- 6:09Speaker 5: Clippers are a desperate organization. A bomber wants to make
- 6:13Speaker 5: a splash. They'll always be second fiddle to the Lakers
- 6:17Speaker 5: in L.A. It doesn't matter who they get. But when
- 6:19Speaker 5: you're bomber, you take over that team. There's a new arena.
- 6:21Speaker 1: Kawhi's coming off a championship in Toronto. You want the guy.
- 6:25Speaker 5: I mean, when he plays, he's one of the five
- 6:27Speaker 5: or ten best players in the NBA. So when you
- 6:30Speaker 5: ask me, what did they do it for?
- 6:32Speaker 1: They did it to get Kawhi Leonard. They cheated, though.
- 6:35Speaker 1: And now they're going to pay the price.
- 6:37Speaker 4: Kawhi Leonard did not want to go to the Clippers.
- 6:40Speaker 4: If we remember back to that NBA offseason, he did
- 6:43Speaker 4: not want to go there. And they had to do
- 6:45Speaker 4: all of this just to make it worth it. And,
- 6:48Speaker 4: you know, I think owners and GMs need to start
- 6:51Speaker 4: taking note. If a player doesn't want to come there,
- 6:55Speaker 4: just let him go. Look at Deshaun Watson in Cleveland.
- 6:58Speaker 4: He did not want to go to the Cleveland Browns.
- 7:01Speaker 4: He said, no, you're out. And they're like, how about
- 7:03Speaker 4: if we guarantee all of this money? He's like, well,
- 7:06Speaker 4: I guess I'll go there. If their player doesn't want
- 7:09Speaker 4: to go, just let him walk somewhere else.
- 7:11Speaker 1: That's it.
- 7:13Speaker 5: And now we have Kawhi in a situation where he'll
- 7:16Speaker 5: pay the $ 700, 000, he'll play in Toronto, and the Clippers
- 7:19Speaker 5: are going to be horrible for a long, long time
- 7:23Speaker 5: because they felt the need to cheat to get that guy,
- 7:25Speaker 5: a guy who doesn't play every game.
- 7:27Speaker 2: What I was the most confused about when the NBA
- 7:29Speaker 2: hands down these major penalties where the Clippers lose five
- 7:32Speaker 2: first-round picks, Ballmer gets the $ 30 million fine and a
- 7:36Speaker 2: year-long suspension.
- 7:37Speaker 1: That's nothing to him, by the way.
- 7:38Speaker 2: Lawrence Frank gets a six-month suspension.
- 7:41Speaker 6: Mm-hmm.
- 7:42Speaker 2: You mentioned Kawhi having to pay $ 700, 000 in restitution for
- 7:46Speaker 2: the improper benefits. But Kawhi's not getting suspended and his
- 7:50Speaker 2: contract won't be voided. This feels like it's almost a
- 7:54Speaker 2: terrible job by the NBA because Kawhi Leonard made this
- 7:58Speaker 2: mess in LA. He should have to stay in this
- 8:01Speaker 2: mess that he created. Like, veto the trade to Toronto
- 8:04Speaker 2: where if he's not getting suspended... There's no really repercussions
- 8:09Speaker 2: for his actions, and now going to Toronto is essentially
- 8:13Speaker 2: his get-out-of-jail-free card when the Clippers, the team that you
- 8:16Speaker 2: screwed over here, who the Clippers are definitely involved in this,
- 8:20Speaker 2: but the Clippers are now suffering the penalties with losing
- 8:24Speaker 2: their next five first-round draft picks.
- 8:26Speaker 5: And Kawhi's off at Toronto playing basketball. You want him
- 8:28Speaker 5: to go back to the Clippers? There's a Nick theme there, Mikey.
- 8:30Speaker 5: I can feel it. He doesn't want him in the
- 8:31Speaker 5: Eastern Conference. I'm not worried about the Toronto Raptors.
- 8:35Speaker 1: You think I'm worried?
- 8:37Speaker 4: You should be.
- 8:37Speaker 1: You think I'm worried about Emmanuel?
- 8:38Speaker 4: You're going to have a motivated Kawhi.
- 8:40Speaker 1: A motivated Kawhi.
- 8:41Speaker 2: You think I'm worried about Emmanuel quickly and RJ Barrett?
- 8:43Speaker 2: I saw them play New York.
- 8:45Speaker 1: He wants them back in the Western Conference playing 43
- 8:49Speaker 1: games a year and the Clippers never advancing in the playoffs.
- 8:52Speaker 1: That's what he wants.
- 8:54Speaker 4: I do disagree with you on this, Taylor. Like, Kawhi
- 8:58Speaker 4: is the beneficiary of all this, but It was bomber.
- 9:01Speaker 4: It was Frank that broke the rules. It was them that,
- 9:04Speaker 4: that circumvented the rules. Kawhi just took the money. Well,
- 9:07Speaker 4: I mean, they said, Hey, we're going to give you
- 9:09Speaker 4: this money and it's going to be off the books.
- 9:11Speaker 4: And he said, okay, I'll take it. But like, it was,
- 9:14Speaker 4: it was those people who got punished.
- 9:17Speaker 3: That, that.
- 9:19Speaker 5: So do you think Kawhi didn't know how this deal
- 9:22Speaker 5: was being negotiated?
- 9:23Speaker 1: I don't care if he did.
- 9:25Speaker 5: I know the investigation came back and said Kawhi didn't
- 9:27Speaker 5: have any direct knowledge of what was going on, but
- 9:31Speaker 5: his uncle did and he negotiated it. And even Kawhi
- 9:34Speaker 5: said in a statement, I believe he released something where
- 9:37Speaker 5: he said, The people closest to me are going to
- 9:40Speaker 5: have to do a better job. Like he is sprinting
- 9:42Speaker 5: away from this as if he had nothing to do
- 9:44Speaker 5: with it.
- 9:45Speaker 1: And that is a terrible job by Kawhi Leonard. Give
- 9:48Speaker 1: me a break.
- 9:49Speaker 5: Mikey, you would know how your deal was being negotiated
- 9:53Speaker 5: if indeed your deal was for hundreds of millions of dollars.
- 9:56Speaker 1: You would. Does it matter?
- 9:59Speaker 4: Does it? matter to him that it came from here
- 10:03Speaker 4: and there and hey listen we want to pay you
- 10:05Speaker 4: 200 million even though the nba cap says we could
- 10:07Speaker 4: pay you 150 we're gonna we're gonna work this thing
- 10:11Speaker 4: around so that you get the 200 right yeah but
- 10:14Speaker 4: there is that is that There's three parties to this.
- 10:19Speaker 2: And to Stu's point, Kawhi's just doing the shrug right
- 10:22Speaker 2: now saying, like, I'm kind of innocent in all this.
- 10:25Speaker 2: It wasn't my doing where you have the Clippers. The
- 10:27Speaker 2: Clippers have been penalized. Steve Ballmer gets the year-long suspension.
- 10:31Speaker 2: And his Dennis Robertson, his uncle, former business rep, is
- 10:36Speaker 2: banned from the NBA for the rest of eternity. And
- 10:39Speaker 2: then the third party, Kawhi Leonard, it's like, okay, Kawhi,
- 10:41Speaker 2: you're going to Toronto. Get ready for opening night. if
- 10:44Speaker 2: your body allows it, which it probably won't, by the way.
- 10:46Speaker 5: I would tell Kawhi, do a better job of knowing
- 10:48Speaker 5: what the people around you are doing on your behalf.
- 10:51Speaker 1: How's that sound?
- 10:51Speaker 2: Yeah, the Shohei Otani is very strong. My translator did
- 10:55Speaker 2: the gambling, not me.
- 10:58Speaker 1: You just want him back in L.A.
- 11:00Speaker 5: So you feel like the penalty for Kawhi should be
- 11:04Speaker 5: not only does he have to pay the $ 700, 000, but
- 11:06Speaker 5: he has to stay in L.A. on that lousy team
- 11:10Speaker 5: with that organization.
- 11:12Speaker 2: He either has to stay in L.A. until the Clippers
- 11:14Speaker 2: could pick again in the first round.
- 11:16Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 11:17Speaker 2: Or he could.
- 11:18Speaker 1: It could be a while.
- 11:19Speaker 2: I'll let the trade go through to Toronto, but he's
- 11:22Speaker 2: suspended for the year.
- 11:23Speaker 5: Right.
- 11:23Speaker 1: When do the Clippers pick again in the first round?
- 11:25Speaker 1: What year was it?
- 11:28Speaker 2: Let me double check.
- 11:28Speaker 5: 2034. So you have Kawhi sticking around for a minute.
- 11:31Speaker 5: Eight more seasons until the Clippers can play. And in
- 11:35Speaker 5: eight seasons, he'd play like, I don't know, 112 games.
- 11:38Speaker 2: The way he does load management, he'll probably be ready
- 11:41Speaker 2: to play by then.
- 11:43Speaker 1: A full season. By 34. I like it. I'm good
- 11:48Speaker 1: with that.
- 11:49Speaker 5: Kawhi, leave Toronto, back to L.A., stay with the Clippers,
- 11:55Speaker 5: and you can't retire until 2034 when they have a
- 11:58Speaker 5: first-round draft pick again.
- 12:00Speaker 1: Ridiculous.
- 12:01Speaker 2: I rule with an iron fist.
- 12:02Speaker 1: I could tell, yes. Mikey, you had something there?
- 12:07Speaker 5: No.
- 12:07Speaker 1: Oh, you were leaning in. He keeps doing this where
- 12:09Speaker 1: he leans in. I think he has something, and then
- 12:11Speaker 1: he doesn't have anything.
- 12:12Speaker 4: I'm thinking.
- 12:13Speaker 1: What are you thinking about? I'm thinking. The penalty's fair, right?
- 12:17Speaker 1: Five picks. They cheated. They tried to circumvent the salary cap.
- 12:21Speaker 5: And listen, Ballmer, for his entire life, has been able
- 12:24Speaker 5: to get away with whatever Steve Ballmer wants to get
- 12:26Speaker 5: away with.
- 12:27Speaker 1: Not today. Not today.
- 12:30Speaker 4: It feels like this is probably a little more commonplace
- 12:34Speaker 4: than we might want to believe. I'm certain that it is.
- 12:39Speaker 4: But it also feels like they didn't skirt the rules.
- 12:42Speaker 4: They just went ahead and ran through them. They didn't
- 12:45Speaker 4: tiptoe and be like, ah, maybe it's this. No, they
- 12:48Speaker 4: were just like, nope, we're doing this. It's like literally
- 12:50Speaker 4: walking on the field and handing somebody a bag of money.
- 12:53Speaker 1: It was the only way they could have done it, right?
- 12:55Speaker 1: I mean, it's the only way, right? Within the cap.
- 12:58Speaker 1: To fit him within the cap?
- 12:59Speaker 4: Yeah, but even just the route they took in circumventing
- 13:05Speaker 4: it felt like, we're not even trying to hide it.
- 13:07Speaker 4: We're just going to do it like this.
- 13:10Speaker 2: If Pablo Torre is the biggest winner today, the biggest
- 13:13Speaker 2: loser today has to be Clippers fans.
- 13:16Speaker 5: I mean....
- 13:18Speaker 1: Like, Bombers.
- 13:19Speaker 2: Bomber is a loser today, but a $ 30 million fine
- 13:24Speaker 2: to Bomber is like if I find Stugatz $ 2. Right, well....
- 13:28Speaker 1: Yes, that's accurate.
- 13:30Speaker 2: An accurate comparison, yeah.
- 13:32Speaker 5: I would say more like $ 5 or something like that.
- 13:35Speaker 4: Call it $ 4.
- 13:36Speaker 1: 50 and we'll walk away. You think Bomber's happy today, though?
- 13:40Speaker 2: No, Bomber's definitely a loser today.
- 13:43Speaker 1: He's a big loser. They lost five draft picks. Clipper
- 13:45Speaker 1: fans are the biggest losers.
- 13:46Speaker 2: Biggest losers by far.
- 13:47Speaker 1: Yes.
- 13:48Speaker 5: Maybe Robertson because he's banned from all NBA business dealings
- 13:52Speaker 5: for the rest of time.
- 13:54Speaker 1: And he should be.
- 13:55Speaker 4: And I mean... It's going to get, it's going to
- 13:57Speaker 4: just get worse because the way to get better is
- 14:00Speaker 4: to get first round picks. And if you don't have
- 14:01Speaker 4: first round picks, you don't get better. Then you can't
- 14:05Speaker 4: make that money back up.
- 14:06Speaker 6: Right.
- 14:07Speaker 4: Like it's, it's just going to keep getting bad until.
- 14:10Speaker 2: It's a, it's a franchise. This is the equivalent to
- 14:15Speaker 2: like the death penalty. It seems like where we saw
- 14:18Speaker 2: teams like in the nineties, SMU get the death penalty and,
- 14:21Speaker 2: and how hard it is for, for those teams to
- 14:23Speaker 2: come back.
- 14:23Speaker 6: Good.
- 14:24Speaker 1: Yeah, good. The NBA hammered him. They said, hey, we're
- 14:27Speaker 1: taking Kawhi away.
- 14:28Speaker 5: He's going to play in Toronto, and you're not going
- 14:30Speaker 5: to be relevant again until 2035.
- 14:34Speaker 1: Good for the NBA. Steve Ballmer deserves it.
- 14:38Speaker 4: All right, question for you, Stu Gatz. How many owners
- 14:41Speaker 4: are calling general managers, former general managers, and being like,
- 14:46Speaker 4: we dotted all the I's and crossed all the T's, right?
- 14:48Speaker 4: We're not– that's– No one's finding out about ours, right?
- 14:53Speaker 2: Right.
- 14:53Speaker 1: How many are doing that? That's certainly happening at the
- 14:55Speaker 1: Mecca today.
- 14:57Speaker 2: And if you didn't, Pablo Torres, I smell a scoop.
- 15:04Speaker 1: What was the emoji he sent out?
- 15:07Speaker 2: It was like a thinking emoji, I'm pretty sure.
- 15:08Speaker 1: Is that a victory lap for Pablo Torres?
- 15:11Speaker 5: I mean, most people don't send that out when they're
- 15:12Speaker 5: taking a victory lap, but I know Pablo, and he's
- 15:14Speaker 5: my friend, and that's the exact thing he would send
- 15:16Speaker 5: out when he's taking a victory lap.
- 15:18Speaker 2: It seemed like he could have broken the news like, hey,
- 15:21Speaker 2: something is about to come. But Pablo was like, I
- 15:23Speaker 2: don't need any extra credit right now. All the credit
- 15:26Speaker 2: is already coming my way. He is not a man
- 15:30Speaker 2: you want on your scent. He's the only one out
- 15:33Speaker 2: there trying to figure things out. Whoever the Clippers play
- 15:37Speaker 2: on opening night, I'll have to check the schedule.
- 15:39Speaker 1: It's a loss.
- 15:40Speaker 2: The team, their first road game, that team should honor
- 15:44Speaker 2: Pablo Torre.
- 15:45Speaker 6: Yes.
- 15:46Speaker 1: It's going to be so upsetting when the Clippers, you know,
- 15:48Speaker 1: have five wins.
- 15:52Speaker 5: They're locked to get the number one pick, and then
- 15:54Speaker 5: they're reminded you don't get any more picks until 2034.
- 15:59Speaker 1: I mean, they're going to be bad for a long time.
- 16:01Speaker 1: They have been bad for a long time. They deserve
- 16:03Speaker 1: to be bad for a long time. Their fans are losers.
- 16:05Speaker 5: I don't care that they are the biggest losers today.
- 16:08Speaker 5: You're the biggest loser just by becoming a Clipper fan.
- 16:10Speaker 1: How about that?
- 16:12Speaker 4: Second biggest winner today? whoever picks just after the Clippers
- 16:15Speaker 4: for the next five years.
- 16:16Speaker 5: How do you choose the Clippers? It's like me and
- 16:18Speaker 5: you choosing the Jets over the Giants. I mean, the
- 16:20Speaker 5: Giants are sitting right there for us.
- 16:22Speaker 2: Mikey, I have a better idea. The in-season tournament, we
- 16:27Speaker 2: play for the NBA Cup trophy. Instead of just skipping
- 16:31Speaker 2: wherever the Clippers pick, whoever wins the in-season tournament, you
- 16:35Speaker 2: get the Clippers pick for the next five years.
- 16:37Speaker 1: Wow, I love that.
- 16:38Speaker 4: I love it.
- 16:39Speaker 1: Wait, do we do it?
- 16:40Speaker 4: I would watch.
- 16:41Speaker 1: Do we do it? Yes, I would.
- 16:42Speaker 5: I would watch, yes, because that pick is going to
- 16:44Speaker 5: be a top five pick. Wait, are we doing this
- 16:47Speaker 5: every year?
- 16:48Speaker 1: Every year. Okay.
- 16:50Speaker 4: Just for the next five.
- 16:51Speaker 1: Yeah, for the next five years. No, no, no, that's
- 16:52Speaker 1: what I'm saying.
- 16:53Speaker 5: So the winner of next season's in-season tournament is not
- 16:56Speaker 5: getting all the picks through 2034.
- 16:59Speaker 1: They're just getting next season's first-round pick.
- 17:01Speaker 2: And Adam Silver presents the NBA Cup trophy, and then
- 17:05Speaker 2: Steve Ballmer presents the Clippers draft card to the team.
- 17:10Speaker 5: I love this idea. The in-season tournament. I might rather
- 17:15Speaker 5: win that than the NBA Finals.
- 17:30Speaker 1: Very excited. We love this guy, John Fanta.
- 17:33Speaker 5: New show, Fanta in 60, is a 60-minute Monday show
- 17:36Speaker 5: hosted by Fanta, which will cover multiple sports, betting, and
- 17:40Speaker 5: fantasy analysis, streaming Mondays from 6 to 7 p.m.
- 17:43Speaker 1: Eastern.
- 17:44Speaker 5: I'm laughing because of the clever name, Fanta in 60,
- 17:47Speaker 5: and it being a 60-minute show.
- 17:49Speaker 1: How did this show come about, Fanta?
- 17:52Speaker 3: Well, the show came out great to be with you guys.
- 17:54Speaker 3: Back in May was sort of wrapping up my first
- 17:57Speaker 3: year with NBC Sports and had just done the Kentucky Derby,
- 18:01Speaker 3: which was the most unique assignment I've had in my career.
- 18:05Speaker 3: And the bosses came to me and said, what do
- 18:08Speaker 3: you think about sort of combining this energy into some
- 18:10Speaker 3: sort of a show? And I'm always about having fun
- 18:15Speaker 3: and trying different projects and taking on different challenges and
- 18:19Speaker 3: and the first year at NBC was so rewarding because
- 18:21Speaker 3: a lot of people had known me and still know
- 18:23Speaker 3: me for the college basketball world, and that's where my
- 18:26Speaker 3: bread was buttered. But I'm a sports fan like you
- 18:29Speaker 3: guys and grew up loving all sports on the west
- 18:31Speaker 3: side of Cleveland. We may or may not get to that.
- 18:35Speaker 3: And this show sort of grew from concept to, hey,
- 18:39Speaker 3: You know, yes, we know he's got different game assignments
- 18:42Speaker 3: and different things, but let's start it one day a week.
- 18:44Speaker 3: Let's start on Mondays. Football Mondays are so popular. It'll
- 18:48Speaker 3: be 6 to 7 p.m. Eastern time. And I said,
- 18:51Speaker 3: if I'm going to do a show, I got to
- 18:54Speaker 3: have the voice of the fan in some capacity because
- 18:57Speaker 3: I'm a fan.
- 18:58Speaker 1: Right.
- 18:58Speaker 3: And I call into radio stations all my life. So
- 19:01Speaker 3: we have a voicemail line, 203-832-5748. Wow. And the whole
- 19:07Speaker 3: premise of the voicemail line is you call in with
- 19:09Speaker 3: what you want to talk about, and it gets on
- 19:11Speaker 3: the show. We'll take as many voicemails as we can.
- 19:15Speaker 3: I know some shows still have callers. Many of them
- 19:17Speaker 3: have kind of cut away from it. Like, I want
- 19:20Speaker 3: to have that because I think I want to talk
- 19:22Speaker 3: about what people want us to talk about.
- 19:25Speaker 1: I wish we had them, and we do a radio show.
- 19:27Speaker 1: I mean, yeah, so.
- 19:29Speaker 5: I understand what it is you're saying. When's the last
- 19:31Speaker 5: time you called into a radio show, Fanta?
- 19:36Speaker 3: You know, it's a good question. I called into WFAN.
- 19:39Speaker 4: Right.
- 19:40Speaker 3: Like, I want to say in January or February, I
- 19:43Speaker 3: was making a late-night drive home from stores doing a
- 19:47Speaker 3: UConn game, and they were talking about the Jets. and
- 19:50Speaker 3: they were talking about what they were going to do
- 19:51Speaker 3: at quarterback and Aaron Glenn and stuff. And I was, like,
- 19:55Speaker 3: fired up, and I was kind of fired up because
- 19:56Speaker 3: it's like, what do you expect out of Aaron Glenn
- 19:58Speaker 3: when this room is so distraught and rough? Like, I'm
- 20:01Speaker 3: not saying Aaron Glenn's a solution, and it didn't look
- 20:04Speaker 3: like he was one. He's got a short leash here
- 20:06Speaker 3: heading into his second year on the job. but yeah,
- 20:08Speaker 3: I called it on the jets and like, I'm not
- 20:10Speaker 3: a jet fan, but I was passionate about it. And
- 20:13Speaker 3: you know, somebody was on late at night and I
- 20:15Speaker 3: thought they were fun and engaging.
- 20:16Speaker 1: Like, yeah.
- 20:18Speaker 3: And like that to me, fellas, that's, that's the core
- 20:23Speaker 3: of why we do this, I think is to be conversational.
- 20:28Speaker 3: And so for me, it's like, you know, I, I, um,
- 20:32Speaker 3: I want this show to be that. And I want
- 20:34Speaker 3: us to, to, um, to try to be unique and, and,
- 20:38Speaker 3: and you're going to hear what I, what I think
- 20:40Speaker 3: about stuff. And, you know, I'm not going to, I'm
- 20:43Speaker 3: probably not going to lead much with the Cowboys. I'm
- 20:45Speaker 3: a kid from Cleveland. And when we asked for voicemails, 30%
- 20:49Speaker 3: of the voicemails were on Deshaun Watson, the Browns, and
- 20:51Speaker 3: maybe other shows were leading with it the day after
- 20:53Speaker 3: the decision got made, but I led with it a
- 20:55Speaker 3: week after. And, you know, it, uh, it, it took
- 20:59Speaker 3: off in its own way. So like, Yeah, I called
- 21:01Speaker 3: into FAN six months ago. And I don't call as
- 21:04Speaker 3: John Fance. I'll just call in as John driving in
- 21:08Speaker 3: a car.
- 21:08Speaker 1: That's your alias. Yes, John on a car phone.
- 21:12Speaker 3: No, you know what my new alias is going to be?
- 21:14Speaker 3: It's going to be Deshaun at a shopping mall.
- 21:20Speaker 5: All right, let's go there. Since you took us there,
- 21:21Speaker 5: what did you make of that decision? Deshaun Watson, starting
- 21:24Speaker 5: quarterback for the Cleveland Browns.
- 21:28Speaker 3: It is... Organizational malpractice to the highest degree. It really is.
- 21:34Speaker 3: And to me, I think a lot of people are
- 21:37Speaker 3: making it about Deshaun versus Shador. And I get that.
- 21:41Speaker 3: I understand that that drives home a lot of attention
- 21:43Speaker 3: in an audience. I got nothing against Shador Sanders. Do
- 21:46Speaker 3: I think he's going to be a great NFL quarterback?
- 21:48Speaker 1: I don't.
- 21:49Speaker 3: And his crowd will be mad at me for saying that,
- 21:51Speaker 3: but I don't. This is about a guy who's gotten
- 21:54Speaker 3: an infinite amount of chances in Cleveland because they paid
- 21:57Speaker 3: him $ 230 million. They made this move four years ago.
- 22:01Speaker 3: Four years in the NFL is like 25 in a
- 22:05Speaker 3: cubicle job. It just is. And so he's been given
- 22:09Speaker 3: all of these chances and really never once has shown appreciation, humility.
- 22:16Speaker 3: You would think after his alleged things, okay, that he
- 22:22Speaker 3: would be working on all of the character things. Okay,
- 22:25Speaker 3: so you don't want to be that way. That's fine. Well,
- 22:29Speaker 3: The NFL is a league that will easily forgive anyone
- 22:31Speaker 3: who knows how to perform. He hasn't even been remotely
- 22:35Speaker 3: close to average. I mean, he would not start on
- 22:38Speaker 3: any of these other 31 teams. The irony is there's
- 22:41Speaker 3: maybe one team he would start for right now, maybe one,
- 22:44Speaker 3: only because their quarterback room is so rough, and that's
- 22:46Speaker 3: the Falcons, because I don't know if they have a
- 22:48Speaker 3: healthy quarterback, and Deshaun at least is upright. The irony
- 22:51Speaker 3: is that Kevin Stefanski is the coach of the Falcons.
- 22:54Speaker 3: It's just kind of funny that he goes from Cleveland
- 22:56Speaker 3: to Atlanta and the QB room is as bad, if
- 22:58Speaker 3: not worse, because we don't know what they're going to
- 22:59Speaker 3: do because two is broken, and Penix seems like that's uncertain,
- 23:03Speaker 3: so I don't know what they're going to do. But
- 23:05Speaker 3: all this to say, fellas, like, this has been a
- 23:07Speaker 3: disaster class. It's just, then you go at the fans.
- 23:12Speaker 3: Who has ever then been rewarded after going at fans?
- 23:16Speaker 1: Nobody.
- 23:18Speaker 3: And he gets rewarded.
- 23:20Speaker 1: He gets rewarded.
- 23:22Speaker 5: How?
- 23:24Speaker 3: How does that happen? And then the assistant general manager
- 23:27Speaker 3: wears a sweatshirt that says Los Angeles made me do
- 23:30Speaker 3: it weeks after trading away one of the franchise's greatest players,
- 23:33Speaker 3: Miles Garrett. Like, It's almost like they're trying to be
- 23:37Speaker 3: tone deaf.
- 23:38Speaker 1: Yes, yes.
- 23:40Speaker 5: Fanta, I'll tell you what. I'm going to leave a
- 23:41Speaker 5: voicemail on Fanta in 60, okay?
- 23:44Speaker 4: I am.
- 23:45Speaker 5: In exchange for you just calling into the show whenever
- 23:47Speaker 5: you feel like calling into the show and just venting.
- 23:50Speaker 1: 877-99 on Fox. Write that number down, okay? I'm in.
- 23:54Speaker 3: I'm in. I will call it. I'll call into your show.
- 23:57Speaker 3: You call into my show.
- 23:58Speaker 2: Yes.
- 23:59Speaker 5: I'm leaving a voicemail tonight.
- 24:03Speaker 3: I mean, we've got a we've got a deal. We've
- 24:05Speaker 3: got a hand. Is this what the LeBron Philly deal
- 24:08Speaker 3: look like? Is this what Mike Gansey did behind closed doors? Like,
- 24:11Speaker 3: was it was it that simple? Because my basketball team
- 24:14Speaker 3: did not do that handshake deal after I thought they
- 24:16Speaker 3: probably would.
- 24:17Speaker 1: This is a handshake deal. This is written in concrete. OK,
- 24:20Speaker 1: my friend. I love it.
- 24:22Speaker 3: I want you calling in.
- 24:24Speaker 1: Done. And I want you calling in.
- 24:26Speaker 3: Done. Done.
- 24:27Speaker 2: John, I'm going to be selfish with my question here
- 24:30Speaker 2: because I'm a Carolina basketball fan. You are synonymous with
- 24:33Speaker 2: college basketball.
- 24:34Speaker 1: Yes, Taylor.
- 24:35Speaker 2: According to sources at Inside Carolina, UNC's basketball roster for
- 24:38Speaker 2: this upcoming season was reported yesterday to exceed over $ 20 million.
- 24:44Speaker 2: What would you say are fair expectations for year one
- 24:47Speaker 2: with Michael Malone?
- 24:50Speaker 3: I think it's fair to say make the second weekend
- 24:52Speaker 3: of the NCAA tournament. I think that's fair. What would
- 24:56Speaker 3: I probably say they'll do? I think they'll win a game,
- 24:58Speaker 3: and it depends a little bit on the draw. But
- 25:02Speaker 3: they should make the NCAA tournament. They're very talented. They
- 25:05Speaker 3: have a kid named Terrence Brown, who I don't think
- 25:07Speaker 3: the nation knows a lot about, but this kid is
- 25:10Speaker 3: wired to score, spend time at FDU in Utah, and
- 25:13Speaker 3: then now at Carolina. He's legit. They got a kid
- 25:17Speaker 3: named Nao Avdalas, who... also gets buckets. Michael Malone's going
- 25:21Speaker 3: to have no issues. He could function in this job.
- 25:26Speaker 3: Michael Malone could succeed at Carolina. He has money. When
- 25:31Speaker 3: you bring in talent and you have money, does he
- 25:33Speaker 3: know how to coach basketball? Yes. He's going to design
- 25:36Speaker 3: NBA sets. Guys, this is true also in the football vein.
- 25:44Speaker 3: I think Marcus Freeman fits this too. Kids want to
- 25:48Speaker 3: know a couple things. Number one, how much money they're making.
- 25:52Speaker 3: Number two, are they going to learn how to be
- 25:53Speaker 3: a pro? Michael Malone has been with Nicole Jokic, Jamal Murray.
- 26:01Speaker 3: He could tell a kid, look, you could choose to
- 26:05Speaker 3: listen to me or you could choose to not. I
- 26:07Speaker 3: also don't really give a damn because I've made my money.
- 26:10Speaker 3: in the NBA and now making my money at Carolina.
- 26:13Speaker 3: But if you choose to listen to me, I can
- 26:15Speaker 3: get you to league. I get you to all the
- 26:16Speaker 3: scouts you need to know. And we will win basketball
- 26:19Speaker 3: games and we'll do it at a blue blood. And
- 26:21Speaker 3: how's it sound to beat Duke? Like there's a world
- 26:24Speaker 3: where his fire kind of his unique nature could end
- 26:27Speaker 3: up translating here. It should be realistic expectations that Carolina
- 26:31Speaker 3: is a team that when we open up the bracket
- 26:33Speaker 3: in March, we say they're one of the 20 best
- 26:36Speaker 3: teams in the tournament. Do I think that they will be?
- 26:39Speaker 3: Time will tell. but they should be. And you should
- 26:42Speaker 3: go into years two and three and say they're one
- 26:44Speaker 3: of the 10 best teams in the tournament. That's how
- 26:46Speaker 3: this needs to work when you're spending their kind of money.
- 26:48Speaker 1: Yep.
- 26:49Speaker 5: Fanta, just going back to the Jets for a second
- 26:52Speaker 5: and the Browns, because as you were talking about the Browns,
- 26:56Speaker 5: I'm familiar with that frustration.
- 26:58Speaker 1: I have it with the Jets. So does Mikey A.
- 27:00Speaker 5: Mikey A, I am wondering, would you leave the Jets
- 27:03Speaker 5: for the Browns? And then Fanta, I want you to respond.
- 27:06Speaker 5: Would you leave the Browns for the Jets? Mikey A first.
- 27:09Speaker 4: I'm sure his answer is going to be very similar
- 27:11Speaker 4: to mine. I would say the Browns is one of
- 27:13Speaker 4: the few organizations I wouldn't leave the Jets for. And
- 27:17Speaker 4: I'm sure he would say the same thing the other way.
- 27:19Speaker 2: You have a no trade clause to the Browns?
- 27:22Speaker 5: It's the only one that's worse than ours. Fanta, do
- 27:26Speaker 5: you want to be a Jets fan?
- 27:29Speaker 3: I'm not going to Alcatraz. I'm not going to Alcatraz.
- 27:33Speaker 1: You're there.
- 27:34Speaker 3: No, no, I'm like at Shawshank. I'm like at Mansfield Reformatory. No,
- 27:39Speaker 3: there's still a shot. I could be Andy Dufresne. I
- 27:42Speaker 3: could escape. I could escape and look up at the
- 27:45Speaker 3: water and say that, that to me, guys, to me
- 27:51Speaker 3: is the wildest thing about the Browns.
- 27:54Speaker 6: Right.
- 27:54Speaker 3: And I see your Patriots logo. And I think of
- 27:56Speaker 3: how quickly you guys turned it. And, and it's, and,
- 27:59Speaker 3: and by the way, I'm, I'm, I hope for your
- 28:01Speaker 3: sake that they do, but I got a lot of
- 28:05Speaker 3: questions about the Patriots heading into this year. Can they
- 28:09Speaker 3: run this back and do it? It's kind of unique
- 28:11Speaker 3: in that regard because I kind of have them both
- 28:12Speaker 3: on the Pats and Broncos, and they were both in
- 28:14Speaker 3: the AFC title game. I can't remember a year where
- 28:16Speaker 3: the two teams that played in the AFC championship game,
- 28:18Speaker 3: I wondered if both were going to make the playoffs again.
- 28:20Speaker 3: I digress. The Browns have made the playoffs twice in
- 28:25Speaker 3: the last six years.
- 28:26Speaker 1: Oh, my God. I would leave the Jets for the Browns.
- 28:32Speaker 6: But my point is, that's how dysfunctional they are. Like,
- 28:43Speaker 6: how do you go from that to, Back down to
- 28:47Speaker 6: the depths of organization. That, to me, like, it'd be
- 28:53Speaker 6: one thing if you had the Raiders quarterback room for
- 28:55Speaker 6: the last 10 years.
- 28:56Speaker 4: Right.
- 28:57Speaker 3: You know, and I guess they had a little bit
- 28:59Speaker 3: of a flash in the pan with Carr. Okay, whatever. But, like, overall,
- 29:02Speaker 3: it'd be one thing if you just constantly stunk. And
- 29:05Speaker 3: for the first 20 years of my life, they did.
- 29:08Speaker 3: They actually appeared to have figured it out and instead
- 29:11Speaker 3: have wasted Nick Chubb, Miles Garrett, Denzel Ward, I could
- 29:15Speaker 3: go on and on and on. Amari Cooper, who was
- 29:18Speaker 3: flashing there. David Njoku was loaded with talent. It's just,
- 29:22Speaker 3: that's the sad part is they've wasted primes of, they've
- 29:26Speaker 3: wasted primes of careers. They've wasted a window to win.
- 29:31Speaker 3: And now they look like one of the three worst
- 29:32Speaker 3: teams in the league.
- 29:33Speaker 2: Fanta, you mentioned the Patriots. Who do you think is
- 29:35Speaker 2: more likely to win the breakup? Jalen Hurts with the
- 29:39Speaker 2: Eagles or AFC?
- 29:40Speaker 3: A.J.
- 29:40Speaker 2: Brown with the Patriots?
- 29:44Speaker 3: Jalen Hurts with the Eagles because they've been in the
- 29:46Speaker 3: playoffs five consecutive years. Hurts has shown an ability to
- 29:50Speaker 3: adapt with offensive coordinator changes, and that defense is still filthy,
- 29:54Speaker 3: and the Pats is too. The Patriots have their own
- 29:57Speaker 3: defense that can get the job done as well. I
- 30:00Speaker 3: would also say this. I am not subscribing to this idea.
- 30:07Speaker 3: I think they're going to make the playoffs. But there's
- 30:09Speaker 3: a lot of people out there. Do we not run
- 30:11Speaker 3: this back every year? Dallas is going to win 12 games.
- 30:18Speaker 3: We do this every year.
- 30:19Speaker 1: Yes, we do.
- 30:20Speaker 3: Can they get one stop in a game before we
- 30:22Speaker 3: do that? Can they? And, you know, we all think
- 30:25Speaker 3: the Giants are going to be coordinated together. But there's
- 30:29Speaker 3: a reason why John Harbaugh is no longer coaching the
- 30:31Speaker 3: Baltimore Ravens. There's a reason why. We have to see
- 30:35Speaker 3: if this is going to work. And Washington, who the
- 30:38Speaker 3: hell knows? I mean, we really don't know about Washington
- 30:43Speaker 3: because we don't know what kind of shape Jaden Daniels
- 30:45Speaker 3: is in. I hope Jaden Daniels is in RG3 Part 2.
- 30:49Speaker 3: I really hope he's not. I think he's very talented.
- 30:52Speaker 3: But their receiver room, like, They're trying to make things
- 30:55Speaker 3: work with certain guys. We have to see if it
- 30:57Speaker 3: all clicks. And then what's their defense play like? In
- 31:00Speaker 3: other words, the Patriots, it's hard when the best quarterback
- 31:05Speaker 3: in the National Football League plays in your division. It
- 31:08Speaker 3: just is. And Josh Allen exists. And the Bills lost
- 31:12Speaker 3: some games that they normally hadn't lost before. And I
- 31:15Speaker 3: think they're coming back hungry. I think the Bills and
- 31:17Speaker 3: the Lions are the two hungriest teams in the National
- 31:19Speaker 3: Football League. It's the Patriots' path last year. was a
- 31:25Speaker 3: really nice path. I like A.J. Brown, but I bet
- 31:27Speaker 3: on Jalen Hurts and Philly Moore.
- 31:30Speaker 5: Fanta in 60, 60-minute show, Monday night, 6 to 7 p.m. Eastern,
- 31:34Speaker 5: streaming every Monday from 6 to 7 p.m.
- 31:36Speaker 3: Eastern.
- 31:37Speaker 5: What'd you make of the ruling here on the Clippers
- 31:40Speaker 5: and Kawhi Leonard?
- 31:42Speaker 3: Kawhi Leonard made out quite well.
- 31:44Speaker 6: Yes.
- 31:45Speaker 1: You think?
- 31:48Speaker 3: And the Clippers made out about as poorly as an
- 31:50Speaker 3: organization can today.
- 31:51Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 31:53Speaker 3: And Somebody out there that runs television could take a
- 32:01Speaker 3: look in the mirror and say, all right, times have changed,
- 32:04Speaker 3: the landscape's changed, but there still is a place for
- 32:07Speaker 3: outside-the-lines journalism. And I don't know Pablo Torre, and I
- 32:14Speaker 3: would bet he doesn't know who I am, but I
- 32:18Speaker 3: give the guy an immense amount of credit. An immense
- 32:21Speaker 3: amount of credit. He was right. He reported facts. There
- 32:25Speaker 3: are very credible people who are friends of mine and
- 32:27Speaker 3: who I respect the heck out of who said this
- 32:28Speaker 3: was a non-story. And guys, it was a huge story.
- 32:35Speaker 3: And as a result, this is a lesson in today's
- 32:38Speaker 3: climate of when wrongs are done in this social media climate,
- 32:44Speaker 3: there still is room for the truth. And so I
- 32:48Speaker 3: give Commissioner Silver credit. We always hammer commissioners and stuff.
- 32:54Speaker 3: Who could hammer him today? The guy said, screw this.
- 32:58Speaker 3: I run this league. This is not okay. And I'm
- 33:00Speaker 3: laying the hammer down. You know why? Because I don't
- 33:03Speaker 3: think Kawhi Leonard's the only person who's ever done this.
- 33:07Speaker 1: Jazz hands! That was well done. He's good. I love him.
- 33:13Speaker 1: I want Fanta around here more often, please. I need
- 33:15Speaker 1: him around here.
- 33:16Speaker 3: Anytime you need me. There's your jazz hands. I'm a
- 33:19Speaker 3: punishment there.
- 33:20Speaker 1: Be careful, Fanta.
- 33:20Speaker 2: We're going to be co-hosting the show soon.
- 33:23Speaker 1: Yes, you will. Well, he has to call in first.
- 33:25Speaker 1: I mean, he does. 877-99-UNBOXED.
- 33:26Speaker 4: Right, you have to call in.
- 33:27Speaker 1: I'm going to check my voicemail box.
- 33:31Speaker 3: Well, you're going to call it. I'm going to call
- 33:32Speaker 3: into yours. It's going to be, I'm sorry, this voicemail
- 33:34Speaker 3: box is full.
- 33:35Speaker 1: Goodbye.
- 33:36Speaker 3: You know, there's nothing worse than getting that message. Cause
- 33:38Speaker 3: you're like, I'm genuinely trying to leave that person a voicemail.
- 33:41Speaker 3: How am I going to get ahold of them now? Yes.
- 33:43Speaker 5: I do know Pablo Torre very well. He's a friend
- 33:45Speaker 5: and I could guarantee you this and don't take it
- 33:47Speaker 5: the wrong way. He doesn't know who you are, but
- 33:49Speaker 5: he absolutely expects you to know who he is.
- 33:52Speaker 1: Okay. So, and that's okay. Guess what?
- 33:56Speaker 3: I do know who he is and I respect him
- 33:58Speaker 3: and I give him a world of Like, it just...
- 34:02Speaker 3: I can't remember coming home from school and watching... I
- 34:06Speaker 3: would have Bob Leon. And I can remember watching OTL
- 34:12Speaker 3: when a Mike Rice story broke.
- 34:14Speaker 1: Right.
- 34:16Speaker 3: Or this steroids thing was happening. Because you're saying.
- 34:20Speaker 1: Right.
- 34:21Speaker 3: Like, honestly, this type of show, do you know why
- 34:23Speaker 3: this type of show would work this winter? I mean,
- 34:25Speaker 3: I don't know about you. The four of us are
- 34:27Speaker 3: all going to be watching football and basketball, but you
- 34:29Speaker 3: know where a show like that would fit in?
- 34:30Speaker 6: Where?
- 34:31Speaker 3: With whatever this baseball thing's going to be.
- 34:32Speaker 6: Yes.
- 34:34Speaker 3: Baseball's literally going to be fighting to have a pulse.
- 34:36Speaker 6: Yep.
- 34:36Speaker 3: What medium are people going to be, we're just going
- 34:38Speaker 3: to be consuming it through tweets. So it's kind of–
- 34:42Speaker 3: which is fine, but, like, it does show you– it
- 34:45Speaker 3: showed that all that work when people were like it
- 34:47Speaker 3: was a huge nothing burger. Like, it is redeeming for
- 34:50Speaker 3: a minute, and it shows that hardcore journalism still can matter.
- 34:53Speaker 6: Yes.
- 34:54Speaker 1: Fanta, we love you. Two quick ones on the way out, okay?
- 34:57Speaker 5: Indiana.
- 34:58Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 34:58Speaker 1: Basketball school or football school? Indiana.
- 35:04Speaker 3: Well, here's how I always put this argument, all right? Now,
- 35:08Speaker 3: stay with me on this, okay?
- 35:09Speaker 1: I'll stay with you.
- 35:10Speaker 3: Indiana football has their best season ever.
- 35:13Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 35:15Speaker 3: Indiana basketball has their best season ever. Ask anybody in
- 35:19Speaker 3: Bloomington what they care more about. They'll tell you basketball.
- 35:22Speaker 1: I like it. That is the best answer we've gotten
- 35:25Speaker 1: to that question, by the way. Fantastic.
- 35:27Speaker 3: It's just how those people feel.
- 35:29Speaker 1: Yes.
- 35:29Speaker 3: And I would also say this. Look at the television ratings.
- 35:34Speaker 3: So Indiana football, I think Kurt Cignetti is the next
- 35:37Speaker 3: Nick Saban. I think he's going to win multiple championships.
- 35:39Speaker 3: I don't think he's done it in Indiana. I think
- 35:41Speaker 3: they're going to win the national championship this year. I
- 35:44Speaker 3: think they're going to run it back and win it.
- 35:46Speaker 3: I think they're better, which is crazy to say. But
- 35:50Speaker 3: it's still such a– Indiana is a basketball state. It
- 35:53Speaker 3: just is.
- 35:54Speaker 6: Yes.
- 35:55Speaker 3: It just is.
- 35:55Speaker 5: Yes.
- 35:56Speaker 1: They'd rather win the NCAA basketball tournament. You're right. I
- 35:58Speaker 1: agree with you. Last one.
- 36:00Speaker 5: We had this debate last week. You seem like the
- 36:02Speaker 5: perfect guy to ask. You can only use one utensil
- 36:05Speaker 5: for the remainder of time, and just one. Fork, spoon,
- 36:08Speaker 5: or knife. Which one is Fanta going with?
- 36:12Speaker 4: A fork all the way.
- 36:13Speaker 1: Yes, thank you.
- 36:15Speaker 3: Yeah, I knew I loved them. Fork the other utensils.
- 36:20Speaker 3: I'm using a fork.
- 36:21Speaker 1: Yeah, Fanta! That's how you do it.
- 36:26Speaker 5: Fanta in 60, a 60-minute show every Monday night streaming
- 36:31Speaker 5: from 6 to 7 p.m.
- 36:32Speaker 1: Eastern. You are fantastic, my friend.
- 36:35Speaker 5: Expect a voicemail from me, and I expect a call
- 36:37Speaker 5: and you co-hosting one day with me, okay?
- 36:40Speaker 3: I'll join you guys anytime. Thanks for having me.
- 36:42Speaker 1: All right. Thank you, buddy.
