- 0:03Speaker 1: This is a podcast called twenty five whist bow and
- 0:08Speaker 1: they whist so, yes, it's too bad, But why did
- 0:12Speaker 1: you expect it's a podcasted five whistles. I was logging
- 0:20Speaker 1: into my draft Kings and the problem with being secure
- 0:23Speaker 1: with your passwords that you have a different one for
- 0:25Speaker 1: every account and then you have to remember every one
- 0:28Speaker 1: with every account. That's why you use the same one. No,
- 0:30Speaker 1: but that's not why I use the same one, because
- 0:31Speaker 1: then you get hacked and then they have access to everything. Right,
- 0:34Speaker 1: good point. So I had to like go back and
- 0:36Speaker 1: I leave a little clues for myself through my email
- 0:38Speaker 1: hidden like the first part of the passwords, so you
- 0:42Speaker 1: don't know what it is, Well, no I do. I
- 0:44Speaker 1: can eventually track it back. But it's like I go
- 0:45Speaker 1: on a scavenger un every time I lose a password
- 0:47Speaker 1: because I've got them hidden in different emails and then
- 0:50Speaker 1: I find it all together. That's so complicated. You know
- 0:54Speaker 1: what's less complicated, havn't Yeah, having someone not still your
- 0:57Speaker 1: identity or still get money. I get that. That's what
- 1:00Speaker 1: I'm saying. Welcome everybody to twenty five Whistles and the
- 1:02Speaker 1: show is presented by a draft Kings Sports Book, an
- 1:04Speaker 1: official sports betting partner of the NFL. Download the Draft
- 1:07Speaker 1: King's app and use the code Bobby Sports to get
- 1:10Speaker 1: it on the action. You never know what surprise you
- 1:12Speaker 1: can get if you put in the code Bobby Sports.
- 1:15Speaker 1: I usually we go and we do the warm up,
- 1:17Speaker 1: but I do want to hit a few stories. First
- 1:19Speaker 1: kick off, Kevin's here. Hey, let's talk about the Cowboys
- 1:21Speaker 1: and the Cowboys offensive line Kevin, because it was it's
- 1:24Speaker 1: not a good day as far as Tyron Smith out
- 1:27Speaker 1: until at least December. I read that his leg muscles
- 1:31Speaker 1: basically ripped off the bone. Eddie and I were talking
- 1:34Speaker 1: about this minute ago and that Edi said it's gonna
- 1:36Speaker 1: miss a couple of weeks. That's what I first heard.
- 1:38Speaker 1: That's what they said. At the beginning. It was like, oh,
- 1:40Speaker 1: it's bad, May he may miss a few games at
- 1:42Speaker 1: the beginning of the season. Now it's much much worse.
- 1:44Speaker 1: It's until Christmas probably at least. And I have Maddeny three,
- 1:48Speaker 1: and he's my I have the Cowboys. I've took the
- 1:50Speaker 1: Cowboys and my teammates Cowboys, but at the Cowboys, that's
- 1:52Speaker 1: not really that's my franchise team. Hold on him. And
- 1:54Speaker 1: I'm gonna tell you little something here. He's my best
- 1:55Speaker 1: player on my team. And so he also got hurt yesterday,
- 1:59Speaker 1: and our league he got hurt yes and so he's out,
- 2:05Speaker 1: but he's only out for four weeks. So I was
- 2:08Speaker 1: thinking about you and how I'm going to trade him
- 2:10Speaker 1: in four weeks off my franchise team. And also moved
- 2:13Speaker 1: him from Dallas to Oklahoma City, and I changed him
- 2:15Speaker 1: from the Cowboys to the Bison. The Cowboys and I
- 2:19Speaker 1: traded Doc immediately for Kyler Murray and Kylamari's second round pick,
- 2:25Speaker 1: and then I traded Zeke and I took the uh
- 2:29Speaker 1: one of the rookies, maybe Bryce Home. I forget who,
- 2:31Speaker 1: but I was like, zick ucks. So that so that's what. Um.
- 2:37Speaker 1: So the Cowboys are hurting Chet Holmgren as far as
- 2:41Speaker 1: basketball goes out the whole basketball season. Now he's playing
- 2:44Speaker 1: in a program game and Lebron kind of halfway, but
- 2:48Speaker 1: it wasn't even that. It was a Lebron play and
- 2:51Speaker 1: Chet was trying to guard him and he came down
- 2:53Speaker 1: his foot and you see him pick up and limp
- 2:55Speaker 1: running back down the court. And now he's out for
- 2:57Speaker 1: a whole year. And then I have to hear Eddie Goo.
- 2:59Speaker 1: I told you was any well, no, I said he
- 3:00Speaker 1: wasn't skinny. What I said? You know, I was worried
- 3:05Speaker 1: about him going to the NBA anyway because he's very skinny.
- 3:08Speaker 1: But you don't think there have been ten thousand people
- 3:10Speaker 1: look at his body. There have been doctors, there have
- 3:12Speaker 1: been trainers, there have been and go, but you you know,
- 3:17Speaker 1: nothing nothing. Yeah, I think that he's too small for
- 3:21Speaker 1: the Vin Durant and then he's like, well but look
- 3:24Speaker 1: but he's not a center. You can do that. It's
- 3:26Speaker 1: not a winner. You can do that like any there's
- 3:29Speaker 1: there are definitely people that have defied the odds or whatever.
- 3:32Speaker 1: But I mean, Kevin Durant is a different piece whole,
- 3:35Speaker 1: same different beasts, different, maybe even different. And now we
- 3:38Speaker 1: have to wait a year to find out. Finally, a
- 3:40Speaker 1: quick other story, Tom Brady did not go to do
- 3:44Speaker 1: the Mass Singer. He went to an island with his family.
- 3:46Speaker 1: I don't know what happened personally confirmed. Yeah, but if
- 3:49Speaker 1: he did, who cares. It's Tom Brady. I don't give
- 3:51Speaker 1: a crap. You wanst take fourteen days off to the
- 3:53Speaker 1: Mass Singer during camp The Greatest quarterback of all time.
- 3:56Speaker 1: That's okay. It's different if it's Zack Wilson, that's you
- 4:00Speaker 1: as a fan, right, if you were a teammate, would
- 4:03Speaker 1: you feel the same way. If it's Tom Brady, it
- 4:04Speaker 1: doesn't matter. He's the greatest of all time. He doesn't
- 4:07Speaker 1: need to be there for early camp. He's not playing anyway,
- 4:10Speaker 1: so I'm I'm good with him doing whatever he needs
- 4:13Speaker 1: to do. You think you think you've heard about Aaron
- 4:16Speaker 1: Rodgers Hiawaska Ti and like I wanted to go to
- 4:18Speaker 1: Island get some of that stuff. I think he probably
- 4:20Speaker 1: who knows why. It's probably something sad, right, that's what
- 4:25Speaker 1: It's probably something sad, personal reasons. Probably something sad, and
- 4:30Speaker 1: he will go handle it. But if you wanted to
- 4:31Speaker 1: take eleven days off to play the Tiddley Wings Championship,
- 4:34Speaker 1: if there's one player that deserves it, it's Tom Brady.
- 4:37Speaker 1: He's the only absolutely all right, let's do warm ups
- 4:40Speaker 1: here real quick. We'll go around the room. You can
- 4:42Speaker 1: tell me your favorite flavor of ice cream and then
- 4:44Speaker 1: answer the question, Okay, your name, which I guess I'm
- 4:47Speaker 1: gonna say to get to you, but you can say
- 4:48Speaker 1: it again anyway. Favorite flavor of ice cream and then
- 4:51Speaker 1: answer the question. The question is how far can you
- 4:54Speaker 1: throw off football? Al r, let's go to kick off, Kevin.
- 4:57Speaker 1: Kick off Kevin. Probably about maybe like forty five yards,
- 5:02Speaker 1: so not too far, but not that's pretty good. That's
- 5:05Speaker 1: pretty good, pretty good, maybe like forty five I would say, okay,
- 5:09Speaker 1: and your favorite ice cream, oh, chocolate, chocolate, everything. Let's
- 5:13Speaker 1: go to our producer, Mike D. Go ahead, Mike. Mike
- 5:17Speaker 1: D probably cookies and cream, and I could probably throw
- 5:20Speaker 1: the football from me to you right now. That's like,
- 5:23Speaker 1: that's amazing through the wall. Uh. Mike. Though, as much
- 5:30Speaker 1: as he's like, okay, throw a football. What do you
- 5:33Speaker 1: run a day? Eight miles? If it's a day where
- 5:36Speaker 1: you're running a little more than normal, I'll do a
- 5:38Speaker 1: half marathon. He'll go out and dote or something, just
- 5:41Speaker 1: like Sundays in the morning, just normal. He's like, yeah, way,
- 5:44Speaker 1: pretty moderate day of exercise. And he posts his map
- 5:46Speaker 1: fourteen miles of running. So he's like, I can't throw
- 5:49Speaker 1: a football, but he can run a half marathon on
- 5:50Speaker 1: like a Tuesday, really good endurance, Adam, I can throw
- 5:54Speaker 1: a football about eight miles. No, that's sorry, Um, I'm
- 5:58Speaker 1: gonna do. I gotta go already five yards. That's that's
- 6:01Speaker 1: the number that popped in my head when you said
- 6:03Speaker 1: the question. I'm gonna go with that chocolate ice cream,
- 6:05Speaker 1: just like regular cheap grocery store chocolate ice cream used
- 6:08Speaker 1: to have my granddad. That's my jam. I'm gonna go.
- 6:11Speaker 1: I'm probably thought about twenty because I know my arm's
- 6:13Speaker 1: gonna hurt real bad if I throw it forty or more.
- 6:16Speaker 1: You're being proactive, ye yourself. It's not worth it. Why
- 6:20Speaker 1: am I gonna chuck it for you stupid idiots been
- 6:24Speaker 1: on this show. I thought about twenty and them morem
- 6:26Speaker 1: wre hurt the next day and nobody cares anymore. Yeah,
- 6:30Speaker 1: we've moved, we've moved away. I like the ice cream
- 6:32Speaker 1: when we go to the ice cream place, my wife
- 6:34Speaker 1: and I. That's the has the most color, the most
- 6:36Speaker 1: popped to it. So sometimes well no, sometimes it's cotton
- 6:39Speaker 1: candy because it's like electric blue. You guys have to understand,
- 6:44Speaker 1: I'm color blind, so when I do get to see
- 6:45Speaker 1: colors vividly, I need it in my mouth, whatever it
- 6:49Speaker 1: is so that if I'm blind, if I'm blindfolded, probably
- 6:54Speaker 1: a solid like a salty caramel. If I'm blinded, Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 7:00Speaker 1: but I always go for like the electric yellow blue,
- 7:04Speaker 1: anything that's supercolor poppy. Uh so in six second question, yeah,
- 7:14Speaker 1: so I could probably chunk of football around forty yards.
- 7:17Speaker 1: Definitely would hurt my arm, but I would probably get
- 7:19Speaker 1: about forty yards. I've done this while I'm walking the dog.
- 7:21Speaker 1: I kind of act like I'm throwing the football and
- 7:24Speaker 1: kind of pick a mailbox and be like, yeah, I
- 7:25Speaker 1: can get it there forty yards. I don't know that
- 7:27Speaker 1: you could easily and hit a mailbox my no, no, no, no,
- 7:31Speaker 1: I don't mean hit the actual mailbox. But I kind
- 7:33Speaker 1: of measure it by like houses. I can probably though
- 7:36Speaker 1: about four houses, assuming that every house is about ten yards.
- 7:39Speaker 1: What's your what's your max? If you if you gave it,
- 7:41Speaker 1: you're all that's my max is forty? Oh? Absolutely, I
- 7:45Speaker 1: can't hit forty five, like Kevin you kidding me? No, Kevin,
- 7:48Speaker 1: you're a quarterback. In huge difference, I would think it is. Yeah,
- 7:55Speaker 1: when you're maxing out five yards is a huge different.
- 7:58Speaker 1: I hear you. But you're like, yeah, forty problem for
- 8:00Speaker 1: five Okay? If you were like, if I've really extended
- 8:04Speaker 1: myself for forty and I said, no, I just extended myself.
- 8:07Speaker 1: I see what you're saying. So on average, i'd probably
- 8:09Speaker 1: be about thirty five. Easy. Forty would be my max.
- 8:12Speaker 1: Forty five. You're crazy, so you can throw? You can?
- 8:15Speaker 1: The question was how far I can? Forty yards? And
- 8:18Speaker 1: my favorite ice cream, Rocky Road. Baby, Kevin, you're a quarterback.
- 8:22Speaker 1: I thought you'd be like a defensive Okay, a quarterback
- 8:27Speaker 1: in third grade? Did that count too well? I stopped
- 8:30Speaker 1: in sixth A sixth grade, I moved over to a receiver,
- 8:35Speaker 1: kind of slot, high motor guy, sneaky, athletic. How could
- 8:39Speaker 1: you remember those plays? That's the hardest part in it
- 8:42Speaker 1: being a quarterback remembering every single play. In sixth grade,
- 8:45Speaker 1: we didn't have Belichick's playbook. B Right, you're about four. Yeah,
- 8:49Speaker 1: it's exactly sweep. You knew the holes A, B C D.
- 8:55Speaker 1: Final question around the room. Do we like hats backward
- 8:57Speaker 1: for adult men? What's to cut off A? If not, Eddie,
- 9:01Speaker 1: I'll go to you. Yeah. Immediately I'm looking at Adam Hambrike.
- 9:03Speaker 1: You look silly. I feel like this is pointed it
- 9:07Speaker 1: last night, Mike didn't I I wrote it last night.
- 9:11Speaker 1: That's fair. Yeah, go ahead, And Eddie, you're a grown man,
- 9:13Speaker 1: Adam Hambrike you look silly hat around. What's like, what's
- 9:17Speaker 1: the cut off, Eddie? Oh, I would say thirty. I'd
- 9:19Speaker 1: say thirty. I mean thirty, you're already kind of getting older.
- 9:22Speaker 1: But that's the age where you need to be wearing
- 9:24Speaker 1: your hat straight. Well, Adam, you can respond adult men
- 9:27Speaker 1: backward hats. Obviously for you, it's yes, because you have
- 9:30Speaker 1: it on cut off. Its thirty seven years old. Um No,
- 9:33Speaker 1: I just wear it like this because it was just
- 9:35Speaker 1: easier with the headphones because I always like bumped the mic,
- 9:38Speaker 1: and so thanks Eddie, I do like this occasionally, not
- 9:42Speaker 1: bump the mic unless you're like trying to talking with
- 9:45Speaker 1: your nose. Yeah, yeah, sure, I don't know. Yeah, yeah,
- 9:47Speaker 1: that's an excuse. It probably is. I wear I wear
- 9:50Speaker 1: it straight most of the time. I wear it straight up.
- 9:52Speaker 1: But I don't really have any opinion about about the
- 9:54Speaker 1: way people wear their hats this America. You can wear
- 9:56Speaker 1: it however you want, but I asked for an opinion,
- 9:58Speaker 1: so you have to have one. Even if don't. That's
- 10:00Speaker 1: first roll of any sort of don't don't tread on
- 10:04Speaker 1: my hat, okay, Kevin, Um, I would say cut off
- 10:08Speaker 1: would be like thirty five ish. I really thought about that,
- 10:11Speaker 1: but yeah, I'd say throughout thirty five, so I got
- 10:13Speaker 1: about four years left. Mike, Way, you think backward has
- 10:15Speaker 1: for adult man, I say, Adam is another three years
- 10:17Speaker 1: cut off his forty. Let's go. I'm okay with that.
- 10:20Speaker 1: I'm okay if the wearing the hat, if like the
- 10:22Speaker 1: wind is going to blow it off your head. If
- 10:24Speaker 1: the bill is forward, that's different. You can be sixty
- 10:27Speaker 1: and do that. A man if driving in a jeep
- 10:29Speaker 1: in their hats backward, I'm like, not a douche a jeep, right,
- 10:32Speaker 1: you have to like a sign different. But I wouldn't
- 10:36Speaker 1: just walk around with the backward had I might flip
- 10:38Speaker 1: it around if I'm gonna run or playing flag football
- 10:41Speaker 1: or at that time, I did a commercial far about
- 10:43Speaker 1: in the yard throwing the ball around in the mud wranglers. Yeah,
- 10:46Speaker 1: yeah remember that. Yeah that wasn't the commercial. It felt
- 10:50Speaker 1: like a man. It felt like family all playing that game.
- 10:52Speaker 1: Dang all right, let's go over to kick off Kevin
- 10:55Speaker 1: with the five question tittle tottle what you got first? Vin? Alright,
- 10:58Speaker 1: number one. Quinn Ears was officially named the starter for
- 11:01Speaker 1: Texas this past week. In a year where a lot
- 11:03Speaker 1: of people are saying that the Big Twelve is down,
- 11:05Speaker 1: do you think Ears has what it takes to bring
- 11:08Speaker 1: Texas back to a Big Twelve championship? Remember, if you
- 11:11Speaker 1: guys disagree, you blow the whistle and will come to you.
- 11:13Speaker 1: Uh yeah, of course, because there's only two teams that
- 11:14Speaker 1: can probably win that thing, and it's Texas and Oklahoma.
- 11:17Speaker 1: And I don't know how good he's going to be.
- 11:21Speaker 1: I know, because he's a Dallas kid. He played high
- 11:23Speaker 1: school ball in Dallas, right, I mean that's he was awesome.
- 11:26Speaker 1: He's a five star kid. He went to Ohio State,
- 11:28Speaker 1: all that happened. But I don't know how he's gonna
- 11:29Speaker 1: be in college. They do. I knew it was gonna
- 11:31Speaker 1: start because he's not gonna transfer down, not start. They
- 11:34Speaker 1: did the whole charade with Stark works like, I don't
- 11:37Speaker 1: know who the starter is until now, basically so, But yeah,
- 11:39Speaker 1: I think Texas can absolutely win the Big Twelve, and
- 11:43Speaker 1: then Oklahoma is probably a little bit better. But yes,
- 11:45Speaker 1: my answers, yes, of course, I wonder how good he's
- 11:48Speaker 1: gonna be. His hair is pretty awesome. Not even just
- 11:50Speaker 1: a mullet, like his mullet has side mullets. It's more
- 11:53Speaker 1: than just like short on top of mullet on the back.
- 11:55Speaker 1: It's almost like Fabio, but it's just a little more
- 11:59Speaker 1: mullety than Fabio because it's a little curly too. Yeah,
- 12:01Speaker 1: and it's like it's got body. Yeah. Man, it's good here.
- 12:05Speaker 1: So the answer is, yes, I do think Texas can
- 12:07Speaker 1: actually win the Big twelve. All right, next, alright, going
- 12:10Speaker 1: back to two thousands sixteen, the Baltimore Ravens have won
- 12:13Speaker 1: twenty two straight preseason games. Is this the most pointless
- 12:16Speaker 1: win streak of all time or the most underrated win
- 12:19Speaker 1: streak of all time? I think it's very underrated, because
- 12:23Speaker 1: why else would we ever talk about wins of the
- 12:25Speaker 1: losses in preseason? What a streak though? In anything, any game,
- 12:31Speaker 1: preseason or not. What's funny is it's like me, I'll
- 12:33Speaker 1: go back to Madden. I'll start my starters every preseason game.
- 12:36Speaker 1: They take two starters out. That's what you see hardball doing,
- 12:39Speaker 1: putting all the starters into the streak never ends against
- 12:42Speaker 1: all the scrubs. And that's not what he does. But
- 12:44Speaker 1: I think it's pretty awesome because I actually turned on
- 12:47Speaker 1: a Ravens game and watched honestly six play seven plays
- 12:52Speaker 1: before I changed it. But I was like, I want
- 12:53Speaker 1: to see if they're winning, and that's like, that was
- 12:55Speaker 1: pretty cool because I normally give no craps. Have you
- 12:58Speaker 1: guys watched any preseason at all? Adam, Uh? Yeah. I
- 13:00Speaker 1: watched the Cowboys and the Titans last week first half,
- 13:03Speaker 1: both Cowboys and Titans. I watched both of those games. Yeah.
- 13:07Speaker 1: I watched the full Patriots game last week, and I
- 13:09Speaker 1: watched about a half of this Ravens game, and it
- 13:11Speaker 1: was a good game. The only thing that I just
- 13:13Speaker 1: kind of caution myself on and watching preseason as I
- 13:16Speaker 1: see people doing well and I'm like drafting them for
- 13:18Speaker 1: fantasy and then it ruins everything because I watched him
- 13:20Speaker 1: like catch four passes for sixty one yards against the
- 13:23Speaker 1: high school team and then cut. I don't like that.
- 13:26Speaker 1: Dude is awesome. Yeah, It's like watching hard knocks and
- 13:30Speaker 1: I'm like, I'm drafting seven eleven. So then I do,
- 13:34Speaker 1: and he did, and I'm like I'm dialing seventh round.
- 13:36Speaker 1: I'm gonna get him, and then he doesn't even play
- 13:39Speaker 1: and then he gets cut, so I try to stay away.
- 13:41Speaker 1: I did watch T and S Trailon Burkswood get any
- 13:43Speaker 1: play in time, and I think he had one carry
- 13:45Speaker 1: for like four yards. But I think it's pretty cool.
- 13:47Speaker 1: I like that one. What else you got Patrick Mahomes,
- 13:49Speaker 1: he looks like he's already in mid season four. Do
- 13:52Speaker 1: you think he's out to prove that he can be
- 13:54Speaker 1: great even without Tyreek Hill. I think he's gonna have
- 13:56Speaker 1: to be really good. But I think they're going to
- 14:00Speaker 1: be fine at receiver. They're gonna have two receivers that
- 14:03Speaker 1: are probably better than having one great. I'm not even
- 14:08Speaker 1: talking about we're taking tight En out of the picture,
- 14:11Speaker 1: right Yeah, I'm talking about straight wide receivers. Juju. He
- 14:17Speaker 1: didn't have a quarterback. He had Big Ben lived hurt
- 14:21Speaker 1: for ten years. We don't really know how good he's
- 14:24Speaker 1: going to be. And he's good. He was good with
- 14:27Speaker 1: a bad Big Ben. So have you already drafted your
- 14:30Speaker 1: fantasy team? I hate to say some of this stuff
- 14:32Speaker 1: because some of you idiots are in the same league
- 14:34Speaker 1: that I'm in, and I'm like, I've drafted in one league,
- 14:37Speaker 1: but not our league. So you're good, you know, And
- 14:39Speaker 1: they have two hyphenated last name receivers. Can you name
- 14:43Speaker 1: the other? Eddie? Yes? About this good? And both of
- 14:47Speaker 1: those guys are going to actually be pretty good to
- 14:50Speaker 1: really agree, and so it's does he have to do it? No,
- 14:55Speaker 1: I think he's going to have really a balance of weapons.
- 14:58Speaker 1: It'll be interesting to see who. Oh you wanna talk
- 15:00Speaker 1: about another hyphen who's a running back? Uh Edwards? It's
- 15:04Speaker 1: a it's all the time, all the time. I think
- 15:10Speaker 1: he's just a really good quarterback. I think they're probably
- 15:13Speaker 1: embarrassed and have something to prove after the Cincinnati loss
- 15:15Speaker 1: more than he's trying to just prove something himself. That's
- 15:18Speaker 1: a NATI game. Well, they blew that game, and that's
- 15:21Speaker 1: lost on the fact that Cincinnati made it and Burrow
- 15:23Speaker 1: and it's like Burrows mad and you know, with Stafford
- 15:26Speaker 1: and the Rams winning that. But I think the Chiefs
- 15:30Speaker 1: are I mean, they're set to do it and to
- 15:33Speaker 1: win and to be dominant again. And I think they
- 15:37Speaker 1: have two really good wide receivers. So why do you
- 15:39Speaker 1: think he's playing so much? Is it just because he
- 15:42Speaker 1: needs to get used to a whole new offense without
- 15:44Speaker 1: Tyreek or is it just because he just wants to play.
- 15:47Speaker 1: I don't think, well, it's not a whole new offense.
- 15:50Speaker 1: It's a different offense when you're losing your big weapon,
- 15:52Speaker 1: but it's not a whole new offense. You have a
- 15:53Speaker 1: different player that Oh dude, he was so dynamic to
- 15:57Speaker 1: that offense. I mean he he made he made everyone
- 15:59Speaker 1: double team at he made all defenses go to one
- 16:01Speaker 1: side of the field, so all defenses went on It's
- 16:04Speaker 1: like the shift. Yes, absolutely, I think there are things
- 16:13Speaker 1: that who will have to learn, but you can learn
- 16:14Speaker 1: a lot of that in practice. I don't know White's
- 16:16Speaker 1: playing so much, that's my that's my question. I think
- 16:18Speaker 1: maybe they're trying to figure out who the guys are.
- 16:21Speaker 1: But again, you're not playing the real defensive backs that
- 16:23Speaker 1: you're normally gonna play, even the same schemes, and you know,
- 16:26Speaker 1: these difference accordings aren't showing their whole defensive game plan either. Um.
- 16:30Speaker 1: I think he's probably just extremely motivated. Honestly, I think
- 16:34Speaker 1: I would be if I were him, because people kind
- 16:36Speaker 1: of wrote him off and he's awesome. Let's not forget
- 16:39Speaker 1: how you talk about dynamic. But also with Tyree, I
- 16:42Speaker 1: think the difference what you're gonna see this year is
- 16:44Speaker 1: these other two receivers can do things Tyreek can't do.
- 16:46Speaker 1: They can't run as fast as he can, they can't
- 16:48Speaker 1: stretch defenses. But they're also fast, but bigger, and you're
- 16:52Speaker 1: gonna be able to throw to them closer to the
- 16:55Speaker 1: end zone. That's not a crossing route. You're gonna be
- 16:58Speaker 1: able to fades to these guys really and though a
- 17:00Speaker 1: lot of fades of Tyreek because it's five nine. So yes,
- 17:04Speaker 1: did they lose, Yeah, they lost the dynamic playmaker that
- 17:09Speaker 1: he is, but I think they might Actually there's a
- 17:12Speaker 1: possibility they could be better as an as an offense
- 17:14Speaker 1: in general. So that's what I think. All Right, got
- 17:17Speaker 1: another one? Yeah. UFC President Dana White said that there
- 17:20Speaker 1: was a deal in place in two thousand twenty to
- 17:22Speaker 1: bring Tom Brady and Gronk to the Raiders before John
- 17:24Speaker 1: Gruden blew it up. Do you think Brady would have
- 17:26Speaker 1: won a Super Bowl with the Raiders like he did
- 17:28Speaker 1: with the Bucks? This is the barbershop comment that he made.
- 17:30Speaker 1: Did everybody's the speculation? And they went to a few
- 17:34Speaker 1: different people. Is it? Carson Wentz he called m fer
- 17:37Speaker 1: is it? Because it was like they were gonna stay
- 17:38Speaker 1: with that m fer Brady said in jest, but they
- 17:41Speaker 1: never actually said who he was talking about, and he
- 17:43Speaker 1: did either. Right, It was like Carly Simon, you're so vain,
- 17:47Speaker 1: you probably think this song is about They never said.
- 17:51Speaker 1: She never said who it was. He wouldn't either, but
- 17:53Speaker 1: now most people feel that's Derek Carr and the Raiders
- 17:59Speaker 1: and the him, and we're going to go to the Raiders.
- 18:01Speaker 1: And then it was blown up and Brady said, you're
- 18:02Speaker 1: gonna keep that m f or over me. So do
- 18:06Speaker 1: I think they would have won? Yeah? Of course. I
- 18:07Speaker 1: think wherever Tom Brady would have felt like he could
- 18:10Speaker 1: have gone in one he would have. He didn't go
- 18:13Speaker 1: to Tampa because just is a warm place. There was
- 18:17Speaker 1: nothing there like he but but no, no, he got
- 18:20Speaker 1: to bring things there. But that was Yeah, that's what
- 18:23Speaker 1: I'm saying, like, he's not gonna go somewhere he doesn't
- 18:25Speaker 1: feel like he can win. So that doesn't mean the
- 18:26Speaker 1: players will have to be there. That means they have
- 18:28Speaker 1: room in the cap. That means the coach is willing
- 18:31Speaker 1: to build the offense, not just the players, but the
- 18:35Speaker 1: scheme around what he does. And I think if he
- 18:37Speaker 1: was going to go to Vegas. He would only have
- 18:39Speaker 1: gone if he felt like he could want already retired,
- 18:41Speaker 1: would have been full too. So we almost saw in
- 18:43Speaker 1: Miami though last year, you know, for this year. So Gruden,
- 18:47Speaker 1: they're saying that Gruden blew that deal up. That's that's
- 18:50Speaker 1: that's that's what That's what Dana White said. He was
- 18:53Speaker 1: kind of brokering it, and Gruden was the one that
- 18:56Speaker 1: kind of said no, thank you. But Car, I'll end
- 19:00Speaker 1: on this. I think Car is really good. I think
- 19:03Speaker 1: Hunter Renfro, as they say, I think Hunter Renfro is
- 19:06Speaker 1: a dog and he's not even the number one. Hunter
- 19:10Speaker 1: Renfrow is awesome, and he's not even the best receiver
- 19:12Speaker 1: there now. And again, Waller top three, most dynamic tight
- 19:19Speaker 1: ends probably right now, maybe five, but Young top one
- 19:23Speaker 1: or two. So I think Breddie would have one there.
- 19:26Speaker 1: I think Brandy wouldn't have gone anywhere. He couldn't have won. Agreed,
- 19:29Speaker 1: So all right? Is that all five? Or you got
- 19:30Speaker 1: another one more? All right? There's a lot of hype
- 19:32Speaker 1: coming out of San Francisco with quarterback Trey Lance. Are
- 19:35Speaker 1: you buying this hype? Do you think he has what
- 19:37Speaker 1: it takes to bring him back to the NFC Championship,
- 19:39Speaker 1: maybe the Super Bowl. No, I'm not buying it yet.
- 19:41Speaker 1: I've just seen nothing my own eyes. I hear people
- 19:45Speaker 1: say he can they watch him in practice, that him
- 19:48Speaker 1: and uh do you have a fine relationship, But like
- 19:53Speaker 1: who Brandon? IOK, I think I think that's who they
- 19:57Speaker 1: are kind of saying, like that's his dude. His debos
- 20:00Speaker 1: in the back field a decent amount too, although the
- 20:02Speaker 1: saying he will be a little less this year because
- 20:04Speaker 1: if they don't have all the injuries they had last year.
- 20:06Speaker 1: I mean that's part of the reason that Deebo Sami
- 20:08Speaker 1: was always back there. Uh No, I'm not there yet.
- 20:12Speaker 1: It's tough to be a quarterback in the NFL, and
- 20:14Speaker 1: I can tell you know from experience because I've watched
- 20:16Speaker 1: a lot of games every Sunday. Man he may. I
- 20:19Speaker 1: think he'll be a pretty good fantasy option because he'll
- 20:22Speaker 1: also run the ball a little bit until he doesn't anymore,
- 20:24Speaker 1: which is how it kind of always works. Lamar has
- 20:26Speaker 1: been the only one I've seen that, year after year
- 20:28Speaker 1: continues to run because Lamars somehow doesn't get hit hard right.
- 20:32Speaker 1: He has that ability to just bend at the right time,
- 20:35Speaker 1: you know. Um, but Lance, also in college he didn't
- 20:41Speaker 1: really play anybody, right, Tray Lance. It's not like he
- 20:45Speaker 1: didn't play in a big conference. He did have last
- 20:47Speaker 1: year to sit under Garoppolo, and so I'm just not
- 20:51Speaker 1: there yet. But it'd be cool. I don't hate him.
- 20:53Speaker 1: I think it'd be interesting to see. But no, right now,
- 20:56Speaker 1: I'm not buying it. If anybody is buying it, you
- 20:57Speaker 1: speak now for Okay, there you go. All right, that's
- 21:01Speaker 1: tittle tattle, Mike. Do I do a spot here? We
- 21:04Speaker 1: can go right to the interview? Well, let me say then.
- 21:07Speaker 1: It is my great pleasure. I am a big fan
- 21:10Speaker 1: of Paul find Bomb. He was a writer way back
- 21:14Speaker 1: in the day, and you know, then radio and then
- 21:18Speaker 1: now he's now, he's ESPN, He's all over the place.
- 21:20Speaker 1: I'm lucky enough to have done find Bomb show probably
- 21:23Speaker 1: six or seven times. At this point, I is the
- 21:25Speaker 1: king of the SEC. I think the most viral story
- 21:28Speaker 1: that I know find Bomb from aslet from listening to
- 21:30Speaker 1: a show most days is whenever Harvey up Dike called
- 21:33Speaker 1: and was like, hey, we poisoned the trees and and
- 21:36Speaker 1: do you know the story? So Harvey up Diyke called
- 21:39Speaker 1: into the show after the Iron Bowl in two thousand
- 21:42Speaker 1: and eleven. The iron Ball is Auburn in Alabama, and
- 21:44Speaker 1: he said, hey, I poisoned the trees at Tumors Corner.
- 21:48Speaker 1: Tumors Corner is after an Auburn win. They rolled the
- 21:51Speaker 1: trees with it's crazy tree everywhere and there. Those trees
- 21:55Speaker 1: mean a lot to that university and he poisoned them
- 21:57Speaker 1: and they all die. I mean, it's really he had
- 21:59Speaker 1: really done, admitted on Fine Bomb show. I think he's
- 22:02Speaker 1: dead now though, right, did he die? I don't know
- 22:04Speaker 1: he died, Yeah, he not find Yeah he died. He did.
- 22:11Speaker 1: He served some time for that though. Yeah. So here's
- 22:15Speaker 1: a guy I've been honored to be on his show
- 22:18Speaker 1: many times, and here is Paul find Bomb. Paul. I
- 22:22Speaker 1: am very honored that you would come on and do
- 22:25Speaker 1: these these shows and this show with me. You are
- 22:27Speaker 1: one of my heroes and you know that. So thank
- 22:28Speaker 1: you very much for for being here today. It is
- 22:30Speaker 1: my pleasure. Um and um, I'm I'm in all this opportunity,
- 22:35Speaker 1: so they'll be not waste any more time stumbling and stuttering. Well,
- 22:39Speaker 1: I have a lot of questions about you personally, and
- 22:40Speaker 1: obviously we're here. We are it's you know, week zero
- 22:43Speaker 1: of football. Uh, not the real weekend that he got
- 22:45Speaker 1: a few games, but most of us next weekend. But
- 22:47Speaker 1: I want to start personally with you. In your closet.
- 22:50Speaker 1: Do you have your own closet of TV clothes that
- 22:53Speaker 1: just suits and ties and shirts and then your own
- 22:55Speaker 1: closet of normal clothes or you all shirts and ties
- 22:58Speaker 1: and suits all the time? No? I I am h
- 23:01Speaker 1: I have if I could break some news here with
- 23:04Speaker 1: you guys today. Uh, everybody has their piccadillos and fetishes.
- 23:09Speaker 1: Mine I have a tie fetish. Uh. I. Wherever I
- 23:14Speaker 1: am in the in the world, which is more like
- 23:17Speaker 1: Fayanville or Knoxville or Starkville, I'm always looking for new ties.
- 23:22Speaker 1: That's my my my deal. Because you don't dress up
- 23:25Speaker 1: as much because you're you know, you're you're cool. You
- 23:27Speaker 1: don't have to, but I mean you can. You can
- 23:30Speaker 1: wear the same blue jacket every day of your life
- 23:32Speaker 1: on television and nobody has any idea, but they may
- 23:34Speaker 1: remember your tie. So that's my that's that's my go to. Yeah,
- 23:38Speaker 1: my shoes are similar. You have tie. This is my
- 23:42Speaker 1: shoes today, right? Those are those are cool? Yeah? So
- 23:45Speaker 1: I have a million pair of shoes and hopefully people
- 23:48Speaker 1: notice my shoes. I can wear the same I've standard
- 23:50Speaker 1: white sweatshirt on the pants. But shoes. Okay, So you
- 23:53Speaker 1: you have a lot of ties. Do they give you
- 23:56Speaker 1: a clothing allowance that you get to buy these fancy suits? Know?
- 24:00Speaker 1: I want to ask uh my first big television agent
- 24:04Speaker 1: who ended up leaving a couple of years ago to
- 24:06Speaker 1: become the president of the World Wrestling Entertainment with Vince McMahon.
- 24:10Speaker 1: Not that that's been in the news lately. And I
- 24:13Speaker 1: asked him about that because I was naive I was
- 24:16Speaker 1: coming from Birmingham, Alabama. I said, do I get a
- 24:18Speaker 1: clothing allowance? He said, at this level, you don't ask
- 24:22Speaker 1: for clothing allow They assume you can pay for your
- 24:25Speaker 1: own clothes. And I knew that was a invitation to
- 24:28Speaker 1: quit talking about it. But by the way, I have
- 24:30Speaker 1: one other, one other fetish of Bobby Uh and it's
- 24:33Speaker 1: a it's a frame glass frame fetish. And and there's
- 24:38Speaker 1: a place in Nashville that I found a couple of
- 24:41Speaker 1: years ago and I've been. Unfortunately we don't get back
- 24:45Speaker 1: to Nashville. That's often thanks to vander Belt. But but
- 24:49Speaker 1: I always go and go to it, and uh, it's
- 24:51Speaker 1: probably one of my favorite, uh frame places in the world.
- 24:55Speaker 1: So when it comes to people who are extremely interesting
- 24:57Speaker 1: guys that love ties and frames, that's number one, right
- 25:00Speaker 1: that skydiving. Who cares guys that are risking their lives
- 25:04Speaker 1: if you have a taie fetish and a frame fetish,
- 25:06Speaker 1: like I can imagine the chicks she'd be having to
- 25:07Speaker 1: beat off with the stick if you were twenty two
- 25:09Speaker 1: right now. Yeah. The funniest thing was when I was
- 25:11Speaker 1: in there the first time and the lady who I
- 25:12Speaker 1: think the owner, I think it's image optical down there
- 25:16Speaker 1: in their Nashville and uh, she was telling me, she's,
- 25:19Speaker 1: oh yeah, by the way, Taylor Swift was in here
- 25:22Speaker 1: just last week, and I'm thinking to myself, Taylor Swift
- 25:24Speaker 1: at the time was like nineteen years old. What is
- 25:27Speaker 1: she doing buying classes. I'm never sure if I confirmed
- 25:30Speaker 1: that or not, but it was a good it was
- 25:31Speaker 1: a great line. And I saw also I'll take that one,
- 25:33Speaker 1: that one, that one and that one. Um, but yeah,
- 25:36Speaker 1: that that was the thing. I mean. Other than that, Bobby,
- 25:38Speaker 1: I'm just a pretty boring guy. Who Taylor Swift, No, no no, no,
- 25:42Speaker 1: we heard it a boring guy who thinks he's like
- 25:44Speaker 1: Taylor Swift and compares with his daily liked in life
- 25:47Speaker 1: to her. Yeah, exactly. I mean, and you're probably the
- 25:51Speaker 1: only person I know that's I've ever done anything or
- 25:54Speaker 1: accomplished anything, so uh, and I won't embarrass you. I
- 25:59Speaker 1: was in Nashville years ago or something, and it was
- 26:02Speaker 1: a big deal. They were having like a like an
- 26:05Speaker 1: Entertainer of the Year or something or it was just
- 26:07Speaker 1: like only invited audience, and this guy dragged me over
- 26:11Speaker 1: there and everybody was there. I mean, I mean everybody. Uh,
- 26:14Speaker 1: and I've spotted you, and I kind of nervously walked
- 26:17Speaker 1: over because I think Brad Paisley was sitting with your
- 26:19Speaker 1: Keith Urban and all of a sudden, you just jumped
- 26:22Speaker 1: up and hugged me. And I was just like thinking,
- 26:23Speaker 1: I wonder if anybody is noticing this or recording this,
- 26:26Speaker 1: maybe this will end up on whatever the network is
- 26:29Speaker 1: a Nashville See Him see Him something. But it was
- 26:33Speaker 1: really cool, and uh, that was the first time I've
- 26:36Speaker 1: ever met you, and since then I've had your people
- 26:38Speaker 1: have center a restraining order. So I wouldn't never do
- 26:40Speaker 1: that again. Okay, Look, I'm a massive you fan and
- 26:47Speaker 1: for you to put me on your show, which I
- 26:49Speaker 1: listened to and watch and sometimes I go from the
- 26:51Speaker 1: car to the TV. But it reminds me of back
- 26:53Speaker 1: in the day when I be twelve would come in
- 26:55Speaker 1: from ball practice and you'd have to run in during
- 26:57Speaker 1: a commercial so you could catch the show. Because but
- 27:00Speaker 1: I do that with your show now, Like I'm listening,
- 27:01Speaker 1: I got a freaking hall, but to get in so
- 27:03Speaker 1: I don't miss anything. And it's rare, and I'm gonna
- 27:05Speaker 1: say this is this is a sincere compliment. It's rare
- 27:07Speaker 1: in today's media world that you care about something so
- 27:10Speaker 1: much that you want to catch it live or you
- 27:11Speaker 1: want to not miss anything, and what you do on
- 27:13Speaker 1: your show now, like I feel that with how you
- 27:16Speaker 1: do your show. So as a sincere compliment, I'd like
- 27:19Speaker 1: to say, like you're a real reason that I look
- 27:22Speaker 1: at sports and even media in general and go, man,
- 27:25Speaker 1: it can still be done at such a high level.
- 27:27Speaker 1: Do you still feel when you go in? Are you
- 27:29Speaker 1: still so inspired and fired up? Or are you going
- 27:32Speaker 1: I've got a job to make sure people know, and
- 27:34Speaker 1: I'm gonna just take it seriously and focus on what
- 27:36Speaker 1: they expect to me. No, I mean, I truly, I'll
- 27:39Speaker 1: spare you all the cliches. But my favorite time of
- 27:43Speaker 1: the day is when I'm I'm sitting behind a microphone
- 27:46Speaker 1: in the studio. It really uh and and I think
- 27:49Speaker 1: if you get older, Bobby, you really do appreciate it
- 27:51Speaker 1: because you you don't know where it ends, and mostly
- 27:54Speaker 1: most of the time it ends badly. But I've COVID
- 27:58Speaker 1: changed me. Uh. Those that year and a half doing
- 28:01Speaker 1: a show from home, hearing the stories uh, you know,
- 28:05Speaker 1: watching uh and experiencing with so many other people were
- 28:08Speaker 1: going through really uh, I quit a little bit of
- 28:12Speaker 1: the cynicism faded away. Now now I must admit it's
- 28:14Speaker 1: coming back pretty pretty fast. Um, but it really was
- 28:19Speaker 1: to hear stories and and now that's probably my favorite
- 28:22Speaker 1: part of not only interacting and hearing the crazy the
- 28:25Speaker 1: crazy people, because you know that's the trademark of the show,
- 28:28Speaker 1: but hearing the real life stories the people that that
- 28:31Speaker 1: have been laid up or are you know, just lost
- 28:34Speaker 1: a parent or or loved one, and they talk about
- 28:37Speaker 1: with this program or your program, or what any program
- 28:39Speaker 1: means to them. And I think that's really what what
- 28:42Speaker 1: we all should strive to strive to do. And I
- 28:44Speaker 1: think too many people in our industry are only there
- 28:48Speaker 1: to hear themselves talk and not the folks that they
- 28:51Speaker 1: are supposed to be serving. Who top three SEC coaches
- 28:56Speaker 1: that you would be friends with in real life or
- 28:59Speaker 1: that you are friends with in real life like as people?
- 29:01Speaker 1: Because we see him all and we hear him all,
- 29:03Speaker 1: we we think what they're cool? But who are the
- 29:06Speaker 1: top I'm not gonna ask if you don't like the
- 29:07Speaker 1: top three that you like, those are my boys. And
- 29:10Speaker 1: I'm not saying this to patronize you. I mean, if
- 29:12Speaker 1: I'm if I'm doing a show in Georgia, you know,
- 29:15Speaker 1: you would think I'm not just saying Sam Pittman because
- 29:19Speaker 1: I genuinely like him. But I genuinely like this guy.
- 29:22Speaker 1: And and don't quote me on this, but I normally
- 29:25Speaker 1: don't like that many coaches because I find them often
- 29:28Speaker 1: to be disingenuous and hypocritical. Uh. And Pittman he introduced
- 29:33Speaker 1: me to his life this year at at the SEC
- 29:35Speaker 1: Spring meetings, and I just fell in love with these two.
- 29:37Speaker 1: I mean, because you know we're we're I'm a couple
- 29:40Speaker 1: of years older, but we're in the same age group.
- 29:42Speaker 1: Where we're both married and we don't have children, and
- 29:45Speaker 1: I just saw a lot of myself in him and
- 29:48Speaker 1: how some fame got to him late in life and
- 29:52Speaker 1: nobody expected it. So so he would be at the
- 29:54Speaker 1: top of my list. I mean, I mean Kiffin is
- 29:57Speaker 1: is intriguing. Uh, He's he's a you know, master manipulator.
- 30:01Speaker 1: You have to accept that. I do like Kirby Smart
- 30:05Speaker 1: just to kind of round out my top three. Uh.
- 30:07Speaker 1: And I know somebody is probably saying, well, you didn't
- 30:10Speaker 1: mention this win or that one, and you know what,
- 30:12Speaker 1: You're right, I didn't. So when you look at a
- 30:15Speaker 1: team like Old Miss and Lane Kiffin and I my
- 30:19Speaker 1: prediction was, or my feeling was a full Miss performs
- 30:21Speaker 1: and they win ten games. Because Lane is such a
- 30:23Speaker 1: guy that he's great at being on camera, He's great
- 30:26Speaker 1: at tweeting, front facing, Like, if you want a front
- 30:28Speaker 1: face a football coach, that's what Lane Kiffin is all about.
- 30:30Speaker 1: And if they can win ten games, I think he's
- 30:32Speaker 1: got a real shot to be like Coach of the
- 30:34Speaker 1: Year because if Old Miss wins, people love to put
- 30:38Speaker 1: Lane places where they can hear and see Lane. Do
- 30:41Speaker 1: you think Old Miss guy a pretty good shot in
- 30:43Speaker 1: the West too, you know, second possibly take down Alabama. No,
- 30:48Speaker 1: I don't. I don't know why you do. Uh. I
- 30:52Speaker 1: think they There's too many unknowns for me to plan
- 30:55Speaker 1: a flag with Old miss Seriously, I think they can
- 31:00Speaker 1: they can win nine or they can win maybe nine games.
- 31:03Speaker 1: They have a really good quarterback. I don't know what
- 31:05Speaker 1: it's going how they're going to mesh. I mean, they
- 31:07Speaker 1: have a million parts from Jay, from transfers and and Bobby.
- 31:12Speaker 1: That can be a great season or disaster. Um. The
- 31:15Speaker 1: one thing I think will be difficult for all missed though,
- 31:17Speaker 1: is to keep Lane Kiffen. He is a wanderer uh,
- 31:21Speaker 1: and he's been there a couple of years. He's had success,
- 31:24Speaker 1: and I fully expect his name to be mentioned elsewhere
- 31:27Speaker 1: NFL or college because I think I think college. I
- 31:30Speaker 1: don't see uh. I don't see him going back to
- 31:32Speaker 1: the NFL that was he was. He was briefly the
- 31:36Speaker 1: head coach of the Raiders. I don't. I don't think
- 31:38Speaker 1: that's going to happen again. The Florida Utah game, to
- 31:41Speaker 1: me is very interesting because you have Utah who's coming
- 31:43Speaker 1: to prominence in the last couple of years. As far
- 31:45Speaker 1: as being a school that it's respected outside of the
- 31:49Speaker 1: western part of the country, and Florida is a school
- 31:51Speaker 1: who isn't as respected as they've always been because they've
- 31:53Speaker 1: had some down years obviously have a coaching change as well.
- 31:56Speaker 1: That game, to me is interesting because do you think
- 32:00Speaker 1: team like Florida, which their quarterback is getting Heisman whispers
- 32:03Speaker 1: and he hasn't even he's not played much at all.
- 32:06Speaker 1: But again, they're a big SEC school. Can they win
- 32:08Speaker 1: in Week one against Utah? I don't think so. And
- 32:11Speaker 1: you're right about Anthony Richardson. I did this Saturday show
- 32:15Speaker 1: with Tim Tebow and a year ago he started telling
- 32:17Speaker 1: me this is the best quarterback he wanted to say
- 32:20Speaker 1: since me being Tim Tebow, but he was too uh,
- 32:23Speaker 1: too humble or at least too too smart not to
- 32:25Speaker 1: say that, but that that's that's what he was in Sinuay,
- 32:28Speaker 1: and it was it was impossible to tell last year
- 32:30Speaker 1: because it was such chaos and Dan Mullen just underperformed badly.
- 32:34Speaker 1: I think Napier is really a good coach, but I
- 32:37Speaker 1: don't see how they pulled that one off. And the
- 32:39Speaker 1: problem for them is the second week they have Kentucky.
- 32:42Speaker 1: I mean, they could get off to a disastrous start.
- 32:45Speaker 1: And that's a problem because Florida fans think they're Alabama
- 32:49Speaker 1: Bobby Uh. They've won three national championships in their modern history,
- 32:54Speaker 1: but they've had but they've also fired countless coaches. I
- 32:57Speaker 1: mean Will must Champ burned out, I mean even Urban
- 32:59Speaker 1: Meyer burned out here Mcalwayne Mullen. So they they they
- 33:04Speaker 1: are now they have a chance to get back, but
- 33:07Speaker 1: until the recently they had no chance because their facilities
- 33:10Speaker 1: were so far behind everyone else's. You have a lot
- 33:12Speaker 1: of these SEC schools that are trending upward if you
- 33:15Speaker 1: ask the people that live in the towns that support
- 33:19Speaker 1: the SEC schools, meaning Tennessee, Arkansas, Oh, miss Mississippi State.
- 33:24Speaker 1: Even so, you have which of these programs is the
- 33:28Speaker 1: more legitimate, really trending up maybe not this year, but
- 33:32Speaker 1: could possibly win their side of the SEC. I think
- 33:35Speaker 1: it's Tennessee, and I'm from there. I went to school there,
- 33:38Speaker 1: and I know the tendency for Tennessee fans is to
- 33:41Speaker 1: is to is to buy in too quickly. But but
- 33:44Speaker 1: I think typele is is as good a play caller
- 33:48Speaker 1: as I've seen in recent years. Hendon Hooker is a
- 33:51Speaker 1: very good quarterback, so it's a matter of putting it
- 33:53Speaker 1: all together. They have a critical early season game at
- 33:56Speaker 1: Pittsburgh which lost. UH lost its quarterback Kenny Pickett, lost
- 34:01Speaker 1: its best lost the best wide receiver in college football,
- 34:04Speaker 1: Jordan Addison, who pretty much put himself up forbid UH
- 34:07Speaker 1: and went to Southern cal and that that's going to
- 34:10Speaker 1: hurt them. So I think Tennessee could could get to
- 34:12Speaker 1: nine wins this year. Their fans think they can do better,
- 34:15Speaker 1: but that's that's the nature of fandom, as you well know. Well,
- 34:17Speaker 1: I think Tennessee fans are more like thinking their Alabama
- 34:20Speaker 1: than Florida, meaning, I mean, when's Tennessee done anything since
- 34:24Speaker 1: Team Martin? Really, I mean really, and they still feel
- 34:27Speaker 1: like they win. They win national championships every year. No
- 34:29Speaker 1: offense to you, but it's like you're not you. But
- 34:31Speaker 1: Tennessee fans it seemed to be more annoying than any
- 34:34Speaker 1: other fan base then as far as like we're still
- 34:38Speaker 1: awesome in a in a real national contender, because they ain't, well,
- 34:42Speaker 1: I just I refused to accept what you said. Okay, okay,
- 34:44Speaker 1: that's fine, that's fine. Can you go area. But yeah,
- 34:49Speaker 1: that's what I like about certain fan bases, so Bobby,
- 34:52Speaker 1: they don't get down to the dumps and act like
- 34:54Speaker 1: they have no chance that Tennessee done literally, I mean,
- 34:56Speaker 1: they have not done anything legitimate since two I was
- 35:00Speaker 1: in and seven I think it was two thousands and
- 35:01Speaker 1: seven when they went to the SEC championship game with
- 35:04Speaker 1: really a pretty average team. Now right now they have
- 35:08Speaker 1: a reason to be optimistic. Though. The problem at Tennessee,
- 35:11Speaker 1: not to get too deep in the weeds, is it's
- 35:13Speaker 1: just been a chaotic place. Uh. They had they hired
- 35:17Speaker 1: great Show I know a couple of years ago, and
- 35:20Speaker 1: the internet, uh, you know, beat him, uh ran him off. Um,
- 35:26Speaker 1: and it was it was I mean you remember that
- 35:29Speaker 1: day all of a sudden Twitter spoke up. It was
- 35:31Speaker 1: actually quite travis to be Uh. I was gonna say that,
- 35:33Speaker 1: but I was gonna let you stay at first, yes,
- 35:35Speaker 1: Clay know. Yeah. And by the way, I mean, I
- 35:37Speaker 1: don't know whether that was the best thing that happened
- 35:39Speaker 1: to Tennessee or not. Uh, but you know they ended
- 35:42Speaker 1: up with uh, one of the worst coaches uh I've
- 35:46Speaker 1: ever seen. And if not, if you if Jeremy Pritt
- 35:49Speaker 1: wasn't the worst coach in Tennessee history, he was certainly
- 35:51Speaker 1: the dumbest coach in Tennessee history. Okay, coaches in SEC history.
- 35:55Speaker 1: I was watching a thing on TikTok about Mike Price
- 35:57Speaker 1: that he made me think about this, and so now
- 36:00Speaker 1: hold on, hold well what he did? This? Let me
- 36:04Speaker 1: finish because the TikTok was saying, because there are two
- 36:09Speaker 1: two versions of the story and the role will just
- 36:11Speaker 1: say this, The role Tide version in the hotel room
- 36:13Speaker 1: was the one they were talking about. If it's true
- 36:15Speaker 1: or not, I don't know an he sued anyone, but
- 36:17Speaker 1: I'm saying if that were the case, then that seems
- 36:20Speaker 1: to be pretty Uh. He wasn't really doing a lot
- 36:24Speaker 1: of thinking with his with his brain. Yeah, I'll tell
- 36:27Speaker 1: the story quickly. So, So Alabama hires a guy named
- 36:29Speaker 1: Mike Price who is at Washington State and in the
- 36:32Speaker 1: rose Ball the year they hired him to replace Dennis
- 36:35Speaker 1: Friend showney. He comes in. Uh he he quarterback Ryan
- 36:40Speaker 1: Leaf and uh somebody else to play. Got the guy
- 36:43Speaker 1: that that replaced Tom Brady, Uh in Newland, the guy
- 36:47Speaker 1: that Tom Brady replaced in New England. And he he
- 36:51Speaker 1: had two sons on his staff, and Bobby the guy
- 36:54Speaker 1: is fifty eight years old, and he lives in Pullman, Washington,
- 36:56Speaker 1: and all of a sudden he's in Tuscaloose, Alabama, and
- 36:59Speaker 1: his family and his wife is still back in employment,
- 37:01Speaker 1: and he discovered Southern women, and he and his he
- 37:06Speaker 1: and his he and his two kids would who are
- 37:09Speaker 1: on his staff, would go out every night and did
- 37:11Speaker 1: what crazy people do after a few a few pops,
- 37:15Speaker 1: and everyone knew about it. I mean, I had people
- 37:18Speaker 1: calling me on our show and stopped me if I'm
- 37:20Speaker 1: going too long here with this delicious story. Uh who
- 37:23Speaker 1: were saying, hey, Uh, Mike Price was in uh, you know,
- 37:26Speaker 1: a Mexican restaurant on on Thursday night, trying to pick
- 37:28Speaker 1: up a friend of mine. I mean that that's that
- 37:30Speaker 1: was the story. And finally it blew up. He went
- 37:33Speaker 1: down to a golf tournament in Pensacola, and uh, I
- 37:36Speaker 1: was with some people the other night who were with him,
- 37:38Speaker 1: and he just got he got snookered um And exactly
- 37:43Speaker 1: what happened is is still open for debate. Sports Illustrated
- 37:47Speaker 1: Magazine reported that he went that he went back to
- 37:49Speaker 1: the hotel at this place called Aridi's angel a strip joint,
- 37:53Speaker 1: and uh, he went back to their room, and and
- 37:56Speaker 1: and he while they were together in the hotel room,
- 37:59Speaker 1: he yelled out, it's rolling baby, roll tied at the
- 38:05Speaker 1: at the moment of of of ecstasy. Here's the problem. Uh.
- 38:10Speaker 1: He filed suit claiming it wasn't true. And I later
- 38:14Speaker 1: discovered this Bobby, he's fifty eight years old. You ready
- 38:17Speaker 1: for this. He's got a high blood pressure, he's on
- 38:21Speaker 1: all kinds of medication. And his defense in the lawsuit
- 38:24Speaker 1: against Sports Illustrated was he was incapable. M yourself. He was.
- 38:32Speaker 1: He He ended up being awarded ten million dollars or
- 38:35Speaker 1: twenty million, and but he couldn't talk about it. Okay,
- 38:38Speaker 1: guess what this guy did. You're right, he is pretty stupid.
- 38:40Speaker 1: He started talking about it and had to give the
- 38:42Speaker 1: money back. When you talk about stupid coaches, okay, let's
- 38:50Speaker 1: roll back to the tape and say the dumbest coaches
- 38:52Speaker 1: Mike Price. The second dumbest coach is Jeremy Prutt. I
- 38:55Speaker 1: stand correct? Uh? Paul Fine Bomb you guys at Fine
- 38:58Speaker 1: Bomb Show on Instagram. The three final questions are first,
- 39:01Speaker 1: speaking of coaches that have had a tumultuous last six months,
- 39:05Speaker 1: Harson and Auburn. What's happening over there. What's going to
- 39:08Speaker 1: happen over there? Well, you got a guy who's the
- 39:10Speaker 1: biggest booster, he's on the board of trustees, and he
- 39:12Speaker 1: wants Harson out, didn't want him hired. Uh, and he
- 39:15Speaker 1: decided to get him fired a couple of months ago.
- 39:17Speaker 1: Unfortunately or fortunately, uh, he got out in the media.
- 39:21Speaker 1: Harson was able to get some sympathy, so he saved
- 39:24Speaker 1: his job for the time being. But he is he
- 39:27Speaker 1: is clearly dead man walking. So Auburn's not gonna win
- 39:30Speaker 1: enough games this year in your opinion for him to
- 39:32Speaker 1: keep a job. No, very very little chance. Question too.
- 39:37Speaker 1: You're a pretty recognizable guy. And can you even go
- 39:40Speaker 1: to dinner now and without people coming up and being like, hey,
- 39:42Speaker 1: Paul Finbaum, can I get a picture? Can I? That's
- 39:45Speaker 1: got to happen everywhere? Well, it's the farther south I go,
- 39:48Speaker 1: the more difficult it is. Um. So it's not like, uh,
- 39:52Speaker 1: you know, I mean I could go to dinner in
- 39:54Speaker 1: Minneapolis and I don't think anybody would notice. But but
- 39:57Speaker 1: Birmingham or Atlanta. But I mean, I'm at the point
- 40:01Speaker 1: in life where I where I'm where I'm looking at
- 40:04Speaker 1: the people that come up to me and go like,
- 40:05Speaker 1: where were you when it matters? I mean where? I mean,
- 40:09Speaker 1: you know, I'm in my mid sixties, I've been married
- 40:12Speaker 1: thirty three years. I mean, I I mean, I am
- 40:14Speaker 1: I laugh at all this stuff. When yeah, when the
- 40:17Speaker 1: home coming queen at old miss comes over and says,
- 40:19Speaker 1: kind of get a picture for Instagram, I just say, okay,
- 40:21Speaker 1: can I if I could have if that could have
- 40:24Speaker 1: happened thirty five forty years ago, and I could have
- 40:26Speaker 1: sent it to all my buddies back in high school.
- 40:28Speaker 1: But what good does it do me? Now? You say,
- 40:30Speaker 1: what's Instagram? That's what That's what you say, What's what's Instagram?
- 40:32Speaker 1: Young Ladier? That's exactly, yeah, exactly. Okay, we're gonna end
- 40:35Speaker 1: on this. Nick Saban. Obviously you spend time with him.
- 40:38Speaker 1: I see you spend a time with him. I see
- 40:39Speaker 1: you with him. What kind of like human being is
- 40:42Speaker 1: Nick Saban? Because again, all I get is him being
- 40:46Speaker 1: hilarious when not trying to be hilarious at press conferences.
- 40:51Speaker 1: Believe it or not, I'm working on a book and
- 40:53Speaker 1: he's he's a he's a big part of the book,
- 40:54Speaker 1: and I'm gonna try to explain the psychology of Nick Saban.
- 40:57Speaker 1: He he is not someone Bobby that you want to
- 41:00Speaker 1: grab and probably be entertained by. Uh, but he he
- 41:05Speaker 1: can be fun and one thing about that you'll you'll
- 41:07Speaker 1: appreciate the best conversations I've ever had with Nick Saban.
- 41:12Speaker 1: We're not about football, but about music. He's a classic
- 41:15Speaker 1: rock fan. Uh he is uh he he told me
- 41:20Speaker 1: once that and I can't remember it was the Eagles,
- 41:23Speaker 1: like it was an Eagles live album. Uh in Japan.
- 41:27Speaker 1: He told me, he said, yeah, I played that over
- 41:28Speaker 1: and over again like for for for six months. I
- 41:31Speaker 1: mean a little bit obsessive. Okay, Uh, I mean, I
- 41:34Speaker 1: mean I think the Eagles are a good band, but
- 41:36Speaker 1: I'm not sure. I could only listen to a hotel California.
- 41:39Speaker 1: But that's him. He likes them. He's he's gone to
- 41:42Speaker 1: Rolling Stone concerts. He and Bill Belichick got into uh that.
- 41:47Speaker 1: I think they had bon Joe become hang out with
- 41:50Speaker 1: them one weekend. So he's not in the country, but
- 41:53Speaker 1: he is. Uh. He has a huge classic rock guy.
- 41:56Speaker 1: So when you come to town one evening, it would
- 41:59Speaker 1: be awesome if we you and I just went to
- 42:01Speaker 1: dinner one night without all the cameras and supporters. You
- 42:04Speaker 1: have to follow you all the fame and glitz like
- 42:06Speaker 1: you and I for like an hour and a half
- 42:09Speaker 1: talking life like that's a dream of mine. I would
- 42:11Speaker 1: love at some point to make that happen because you
- 42:14Speaker 1: walk into there. Because I am going to be a
- 42:15Speaker 1: Nashville pretty soon. Let's go. Let's go if you're if
- 42:19Speaker 1: you're in town, we're we will be there for the
- 42:21Speaker 1: Vanderbilt the Wake Forest game. Okay, that'd be amazing. I'm
- 42:25Speaker 1: a massive fan of you. I'm always And here's the
- 42:30Speaker 1: comparison I'm making you and I and I'll let you go.
- 42:32Speaker 1: You have a massive show to do. Your a hero
- 42:34Speaker 1: to all the world. Um. The comparison is when I
- 42:37Speaker 1: finished anything we're doing, if we do like a twelve
- 42:39Speaker 1: or thirt team in a break and we're off the air,
- 42:41Speaker 1: and you can tell him, what do I do? As
- 42:43Speaker 1: soon as I'm off the air from being Mr Gregarious,
- 42:45Speaker 1: Mr Mr Blind for the party? What do I do?
- 42:47Speaker 1: You walk out and go home? Where I shut down?
- 42:49Speaker 1: I don't. I don't have a lot of energy. You
- 42:50Speaker 1: want any time to have energy? Like I go down
- 42:52Speaker 1: and I'm like, all right, I gotta figure out what's
- 42:54Speaker 1: up next. I'm not I'm not the life of the
- 42:56Speaker 1: party when there ain't a mic in front of me.
- 42:58Speaker 1: And I've done your show, even in person, even here,
- 43:01Speaker 1: when you set up the stage and very similar you
- 43:04Speaker 1: go all right, I'm off. You know, it's like you're
- 43:07Speaker 1: a robot that shuts down. And I can appreciate that,
- 43:09Speaker 1: and I can admire that, and because you're a weirdo
- 43:12Speaker 1: like me, and I think that's why I love you
- 43:13Speaker 1: so much, Bob find Bom. Well, I appreciate you saying that.
- 43:16Speaker 1: And when I when I see it, I'm gonna try
- 43:18Speaker 1: to shell you on getting me a job in Nashville
- 43:20Speaker 1: because as a songwriter whatever, I did write a song
- 43:22Speaker 1: about ten years ago. No, you didn't know you did it.
- 43:25Speaker 1: I did know you did it. Okay, I'll bring it
- 43:28Speaker 1: to you, and I'm gonna go. I'm gonna go to
- 43:29Speaker 1: music Row or whatever it's called and try to sell it.
- 43:32Speaker 1: Yeah it's not called music Row, but uh tell your
- 43:35Speaker 1: friends you're gonna go down to music Lane and musical yeah,
- 43:38Speaker 1: music Lane. Yeah, alright, Paul Hat, thank you and hopefully
- 43:41Speaker 1: I'll see you soon. You'm a hero, and I'll I'll
- 43:43Speaker 1: talk to you I'm gonna tell your guy and give
- 43:45Speaker 1: them my cell phone number. If you never text me,
- 43:47Speaker 1: I understand you, just you hate me. But if you
- 43:49Speaker 1: do and you're like, let's go to dinner, let's go,
- 43:51Speaker 1: and I will let you pay because I'm that kind
- 43:53Speaker 1: of nice guy, I would be delighted. And this has
- 43:55Speaker 1: been like, of all the things I've ever done in
- 43:58Speaker 1: my career, just stop, okay, stop the most recent Okay,
- 44:02Speaker 1: thank you. That's more like it. There is Paul, Fine, Bob, everybody, Ahi, Paul,
- 44:05Speaker 1: see every buddy. Hey, what's going on? It's kickoff, Kevin.
- 44:08Speaker 1: And for most of us, learning a second language in
- 44:10Speaker 1: high school or college wasn't exactly the high point or
- 44:12Speaker 1: academic careers. I know, I took a couple of years
- 44:15Speaker 1: of German in high school, and looking back on it now,
- 44:18Speaker 1: I'm not really sure why I did it. All I
- 44:19Speaker 1: can say is donka, which means thanks. But now, thanks
- 44:22Speaker 1: to Babel, the language learning app that has sold more
- 44:25Speaker 1: than ten million subscriptions, there's an addictively fun and easy
- 44:28Speaker 1: way to learn a new language, whether you're traveling abroad,
- 44:32Speaker 1: connecting in a deeper way with family, or you just
- 44:34Speaker 1: have some free time on your hands. Babel teachers bite
- 44:36Speaker 1: sized language lessons that you'll actually use in the real world.
- 44:40Speaker 1: I know this time around, I'm going with Spanish. Maybe
- 44:43Speaker 1: I'll come back to German at some point with Babel,
- 44:44Speaker 1: but I'm sticking with Spanish here. I grew up in
- 44:46Speaker 1: southern California. A lot of my friends speak Spanish, and
- 44:49Speaker 1: I never really know what they're saying, or if we're
- 44:51Speaker 1: out and they're speaking Spanish, I feel left out. So
- 44:54Speaker 1: I'm going with Spanish this time and thanks to Babel's
- 44:56Speaker 1: fifteen minute lessons, it makes it perfect for me to
- 44:58Speaker 1: learn while I'm on the go and right now. When
- 45:01Speaker 1: you purchase a three month Babel subscription, you'll get an
- 45:04Speaker 1: additional three months for free. That's six months for the
- 45:08Speaker 1: price of three. Just go to Babel dot com and
- 45:11Speaker 1: use promo code Bobby Sports. All one word Bobby Sports
- 45:15Speaker 1: at Babel dot com. That's B A, B B E
- 45:19Speaker 1: L dot com and put in Bobby Sports. All right,
- 45:22Speaker 1: Paul find but I'm awesome. So let's talk about Parley's
- 45:25Speaker 1: for a second. Kick off, Kevin, would you define a
- 45:27Speaker 1: parlay just to to our audience here? Um, and the
- 45:30Speaker 1: best way, no, how so, is when you like, oh,
- 45:34Speaker 1: I gotta I want to tell him. I'm gonna to
- 45:36Speaker 1: tell him now what le have to teach kickof vis
- 45:38Speaker 1: nervous is gonna mess Okay here, let me let me Okay, Okay,
- 45:43Speaker 1: we're gonna let you do it again right now. I
- 45:45Speaker 1: want to say you should drive Kings has the best
- 45:48Speaker 1: for me. I loved parlay at DraftKings. It's very easy
- 45:51Speaker 1: as far as for the human, it's hard to mess
- 45:54Speaker 1: up on Draft Kings. It's you simple for the user. So, Kevin,
- 45:58Speaker 1: what's a parlay? Okay? When you like certain spreads, are
- 46:00Speaker 1: certain games, and you like multiple so you want to
- 46:02Speaker 1: combine them together for a better payout. But obviously it's
- 46:06Speaker 1: harder to win multiple games or multiple bets. Yeah, yeah,
- 46:11Speaker 1: it was really really Yeah. It's like Eddie and I have.
- 46:14Speaker 1: If I was gonna say I'm gonna walk to Eddie
- 46:16Speaker 1: right now, I'm gonna walk on five six steps right
- 46:18Speaker 1: to Eddie, or I could say, okay, I'm gonna ta
- 46:21Speaker 1: one step and then gonn look at the ceil and
- 46:22Speaker 1: go something going to follow me and look to the
- 46:24Speaker 1: left and goes and care gonna hit me. But I'm
- 46:26Speaker 1: still gonna get there. It's just one bet, or you're
- 46:29Speaker 1: betting multiple things inside of one bet. Yeah, and if
- 46:32Speaker 1: any of them lose, you lose. But if you can hit,
- 46:35Speaker 1: oh it's a big pay. I hit and Draft Kings
- 46:37Speaker 1: last year and Bowl season an eight game parlay and
- 46:42Speaker 1: they and they reposted me, Uh, I think, yeah, I
- 46:49Speaker 1: want to parlay. I think it made me like Bucks
- 46:53Speaker 1: and I kept. Well what I kept doing though, is
- 46:55Speaker 1: I kept I went four. I posted on Instagram should
- 46:58Speaker 1: I keep going or should I cash out? And I'm
- 47:00Speaker 1: not a big cash out guy. And I sent it
- 47:03Speaker 1: to Eddie after about five and he's like, cash out
- 47:05Speaker 1: and I want again, said what about now cash out?
- 47:07Speaker 1: I'm a big cash he's a big cash So next
- 47:11Speaker 1: week we'll be doing the parlays of the week. So

- 47:54Speaker 1: You know? Okay, it's funny. Why do you know? What?
- 47:57Speaker 1: Do you know why they called week zero? Don't well?
- 48:00Speaker 1: Week one is next week. We're all like the first
- 48:02Speaker 1: real slate. This is week zero because it is a

- 48:49Speaker 1: That was for me. Um. Okay, we're gonna go over
- 48:51Speaker 1: to Adam. It's time. And Eddie doesn't know about this segment.
- 48:54Speaker 1: But Adams big stat guy, Adams Big, you know, into
- 48:57Speaker 1: the numbers, and so we're gonna do Adam Stats. But
- 48:59Speaker 1: I need you to sing a theme song, rap the
- 49:00Speaker 1: top of your head, and whatever you sing here is
- 49:02Speaker 1: what we're gonna use every time. We're gonna capture it,
- 49:04Speaker 1: and you're gonna sing it and we'll probably have like
- 49:07Speaker 1: Reid who shoots video and it's putting some guitar behind it.
- 49:10Speaker 1: But whatever you sing here about Adam Stats is a
- 49:13Speaker 1: theme song. No pressure, no pressure at all. Are you ready?
- 49:17Speaker 1: And Adam Stats. Adam has all your stats for you.
- 49:23Speaker 1: Adam Stats. Okay, we like it. We're gonna capture that
- 49:29Speaker 1: and and reade you can put music on that. Okay, alright, Adam,
- 49:32Speaker 1: what's your stat of the week? Oh Man? Kevin Sumlin.
- 49:36Speaker 1: Kevin Sumlon, we all remember him from Texas A and M.
- 49:38Speaker 1: He was the head coach there before Jimbo Fisher. His
- 49:40Speaker 1: record through his first four seasons thirty six and sixteen.
- 49:44Speaker 1: Do you know whose record is thirty four and fourteen
- 49:46Speaker 1: through his first four years at Texas A and M,
- 49:48Speaker 1: Jimbo Fisher. You know who's making a lot more money
- 49:51Speaker 1: than Kevin Sumone made, Jimbo Fisher. I don't know how
- 49:55Speaker 1: that makes you all feel, but y'all basically at Texas
- 49:57Speaker 1: A and M have the exact same coach in paying
- 50:00Speaker 1: one of them about seventy million dollars more. Um. I
- 50:04Speaker 1: this makes me uncomfortable. I'm a Texas SAY and M
- 50:06Speaker 1: fan um because we haven't really seen uh tex SA
- 50:10Speaker 1: and M achieve. At a highlight, they beat Alabama, but
- 50:13Speaker 1: they also lost four games last year, which I think
- 50:16Speaker 1: is gonna kind of be the highlighted of UH of
- 50:20Speaker 1: Jimbo Fisher at A and M. I'm if I'm being honest.
- 50:23Speaker 1: Even with the number one recruiting class like we're gonna
- 50:25Speaker 1: see him hit those highs. But I don't know if
- 50:28Speaker 1: he's got it in to to be consistent and and
- 50:31Speaker 1: be Alabama like he wants to be. I think that
- 50:35Speaker 1: someone had Manziel, Yeah, and awesome for him that really
- 50:40Speaker 1: wanted a bunch of games. I think Jimbo Fisher is
- 50:42Speaker 1: also coming in though, And now comparing to Sam Pittman
- 50:44Speaker 1: at Arkansas, you look at his record and I don't
- 50:46Speaker 1: know what his record is overall, but it's like two
- 50:48Speaker 1: or three games over five hundred. But when you go
- 50:50Speaker 1: in the first year of a program, you're in there,
- 50:52Speaker 1: you're in the just a deficit. You gotta dig out,
- 50:54Speaker 1: you're underneath, you're underwater. And so I don't know that
- 50:58Speaker 1: I would compare the money in the stat You're kind
- 51:00Speaker 1: of putting the money on what you think he can
- 51:02Speaker 1: do for the future of the program. And I think
- 51:04Speaker 1: we're seeing is with these massive recruiting classes, like that's
- 51:08Speaker 1: what they're betting on with all that money, And he
- 51:10Speaker 1: did in Florida State, like he recruited the crap out
- 51:12Speaker 1: of kids. My point is, even though his record is
- 51:14Speaker 1: not as good as someone and that is a that's
- 51:16Speaker 1: a really interesting stat that they don't pay him for
- 51:19Speaker 1: his first two seasons. They pay him for kind of
- 51:22Speaker 1: seasons four through forever until they fire him or he retires.
- 51:26Speaker 1: I just wonder what what the tipping point is, Like
- 51:29Speaker 1: how many eight and four seasons does he have to
- 51:31Speaker 1: turn in before well, he gets one more. He gets
- 51:33Speaker 1: one more this season, that's eight or nine wins and
- 51:36Speaker 1: if he's not winning ten or eleven next year, I
- 51:39Speaker 1: think he gets put in the pressure cooker a little bit.
- 51:41Speaker 1: Educate me a little bit. So if they don't spend
- 51:43Speaker 1: them that much money on on Jimbo, like where does
- 51:46Speaker 1: the money go? Like, well, there's no, there's not an
- 51:48Speaker 1: allotment of money, right, So it's not like the NFL,
- 51:50Speaker 1: where like you pay your quarterbacks. Yes, so what's who cares?
- 51:54Speaker 1: Who cares that they're paying him way more than they
- 51:56Speaker 1: paid someone. Who cares? Is people going, well, this is
- 52:00Speaker 1: but he can't even win as much games as the
- 52:01Speaker 1: last coach. We're paying them all this money. It's just
- 52:03Speaker 1: fun to say this is stupid. Yeah, and it's also boosters, right,
- 52:06Speaker 1: it's all the it's all the same people that are
- 52:08Speaker 1: paying all the players. And I'll say that in a
- 52:10Speaker 1: bad way because I do, and I hold deals with
- 52:12Speaker 1: players too, So I'm not like it's it's it sounds
- 52:15Speaker 1: better nowadays. Yes, if I couldn't say this five years ago.
- 52:19Speaker 1: So the deal is, it's interesting that he hasn't won
- 52:22Speaker 1: as many games in this many seasons. But I think
- 52:24Speaker 1: someone had already hit his his high point at this point,
- 52:27Speaker 1: where Jimbo. As you can see from the recruiting class
- 52:29Speaker 1: last year and even this year, they haven't yet. Yeah,
- 52:32Speaker 1: so all right, there's Adam Stats. So I already forgot it. Yeah,
- 52:37Speaker 1: let's try again. This will be his out song. Adam Stats.
- 52:42Speaker 1: That's Adam Stats. He's got those stats for you, those stats. Wow,
- 52:50Speaker 1: all right, we're gonna go over. And I had a
- 52:52Speaker 1: chance to talk with Clark Lee on stage, and Clark
- 52:57Speaker 1: Lee head football coach a Vanderbilt University. Pretty cool because
- 53:01Speaker 1: he's a guy that played baseball. I was like, I'm
- 53:04Speaker 1: gonna make it a baseball player. I went back to
- 53:06Speaker 1: football because he was a good high school player, played
- 53:09Speaker 1: fullback at Vanderbilt and then started coaching and kind of
- 53:12Speaker 1: climbed his way up. And I remember when he was
- 53:13Speaker 1: a Notre Dame's defensive coordinators very sought after and when
- 53:16Speaker 1: he came to Vanderbilt. I was like, Wow, I didn't
- 53:18Speaker 1: expect him to come to Vanderbilt, but he went to
- 53:20Speaker 1: school here and I was talking to him actually before
- 53:21Speaker 1: the show, and I was like, why why would you
- 53:24Speaker 1: pick Vanderbilt. He goes, I really believe in what they're
- 53:27Speaker 1: going to invest in this program in the future. And
- 53:30Speaker 1: also he didn't say this to me, but I was like,
- 53:31Speaker 1: there's no pressure on him to win right now. They
- 53:34Speaker 1: just are gonna put the pressure on him versus the
- 53:38Speaker 1: support they were giving him. Meaning if he's not getting
- 53:42Speaker 1: what the other coaches are getting financially facilities, they're not
- 53:44Speaker 1: gonna expect him to get what other coaches are doing.
- 53:47Speaker 1: But I think that's going to kind of build itself
- 53:49Speaker 1: as it goes. And he's awesome. So I'm gonna play this,
- 53:52Speaker 1: ladies and gentlemen. Here he is Clark Lee, the head
- 53:54Speaker 1: football coach from Vanderbilt University, with me on a stage
- 53:58Speaker 1: in front of about a thousand people. We're aiming to
- 54:06Speaker 1: build the best football program in the country at Vanderbilt University,
- 54:11Speaker 1: where we have the best school in the best city,
- 54:14Speaker 1: in the best conference, with the best facilities on the
- 54:18Speaker 1: rival Buckley everybody, head football coach a Vanderbilt University clap
- 54:28Speaker 1: your hands for thank you, coach. Thanks, I've never been
- 54:31Speaker 1: so cool before, Bobby. That was awesome. I appreciate it.
- 54:34Speaker 1: Well when I see you and I listened to you speak,
- 54:38Speaker 1: and if I want to just go to a couple
- 54:40Speaker 1: of weeks ago, I was watching SEC media days and
- 54:44Speaker 1: all the coaches take a turn to get up and talk,
- 54:46Speaker 1: and when it's your time to talk, um and you
- 54:48Speaker 1: can say exactly what you said, but basically it was
- 54:51Speaker 1: I'm here to have the best football team in the country.
- 54:53Speaker 1: I'm paraphrasing that, and I was like, that's all I'm
- 54:55Speaker 1: talking about, because if we're just uh, you know, talk
- 54:58Speaker 1: about the elephant the room, vande has not been successful
- 55:00Speaker 1: it's football program in a long time. So for you
- 55:03Speaker 1: to get up and say that, I was like, I
- 55:04Speaker 1: never met him, but that's my guy. Like I love that,
- 55:06Speaker 1: because if you don't tell people what you're gonna do,
- 55:08Speaker 1: it's harder to do it. Can you tell me before
- 55:10Speaker 1: you walked up there, did you plan to say that?
- 55:12Speaker 1: That just come into you. I say things because I
- 55:14Speaker 1: mean them, and I've said this to people since that comment.
- 55:18Speaker 1: That was not meant to grab attention. It was not
- 55:21Speaker 1: meant to be something that was really talked about. Um.
- 55:25Speaker 1: You know, if you cut me open and I bled out,
- 55:28Speaker 1: that's what I'd bleed out. And I don't know that
- 55:30Speaker 1: I would ever want to be a part of anything
- 55:32Speaker 1: where you weren't striving to be level best. And you
- 55:36Speaker 1: know that means a lot of things. But certainly, um,
- 55:39Speaker 1: that is what we're building at Vanderbilt. And are we
- 55:42Speaker 1: there yet? Know? And do we have a long way
- 55:44Speaker 1: to go? Absolutely, But that's the course raw on and
- 55:47Speaker 1: that's what we're gonna do. Do you have a leadership
- 55:49Speaker 1: gene in you? Or is it nurture or nature? Like
- 55:52Speaker 1: did you come out as a baby and you're like,
- 55:54Speaker 1: let's do this way or did you learn it from someone? Like?
- 55:59Speaker 1: Where does this lead your shippability come from? Well, you know,
- 56:03Speaker 1: obviously played sports and I had great coaches growing up.
- 56:05Speaker 1: My parents would be formative to me. And you know,
- 56:08Speaker 1: I've learned a lot, you know, as I've become a
- 56:11Speaker 1: parent myself just reflecting on you know, my experience as
- 56:14Speaker 1: a child. Um, but but all of my what I've
- 56:18Speaker 1: done is paid attention. I've just paid attention and and
- 56:20Speaker 1: I think I could. The reason for me paying attention
- 56:23Speaker 1: was just I recognized in my career I was experiencing
- 56:26Speaker 1: things that to be the husband I needed to be,
- 56:29Speaker 1: to be the father I needed to be, and really
- 56:31Speaker 1: to be the coach too, you know, I have, whether
- 56:34Speaker 1: I'm a linebacker coach, a defense coordinat, or now a
- 56:36Speaker 1: head coach, there's young people that are looking to me
- 56:38Speaker 1: to model, um through adversity, to to teach them how
- 56:42Speaker 1: to handle challenges, and so UM, I needed to pay
- 56:46Speaker 1: attention what I was going to, what I was going
- 56:48Speaker 1: through in order to be what I needed to be
- 56:51Speaker 1: for them. And in doing that, I think I just
- 56:53Speaker 1: kind of started to locate the things that were most
- 56:57Speaker 1: important with respect, you know, being a steady stern and
- 57:01Speaker 1: and not changing and um, you know, just just toughening
- 57:05Speaker 1: through adversity. And that's been kind of my ticket to
- 57:08Speaker 1: this point. And listen, you know, listening to you talk
- 57:11Speaker 1: before end, I mean, none of this comes without incredible
- 57:14Speaker 1: challenge and incredible adversity. But I think that's kind of
- 57:16Speaker 1: the point, right, That's what we're doing, and we need
- 57:18Speaker 1: to do it really well. So your path to here,
- 57:22Speaker 1: as I talk about, there is not a straight line
- 57:24Speaker 1: to success and success is definable and my definition changes
- 57:27Speaker 1: all the time, and what I feel is like success
- 57:30Speaker 1: for me professionally personally. Um, just to let you guys know,
- 57:33Speaker 1: a little background, like legit high school football player, like
- 57:37Speaker 1: bone crusher, like don't mess with them that. Then he
- 57:40Speaker 1: plays baseball in college. So he's like annoying and he's
- 57:42Speaker 1: good at everything like sport wise, doesn't mean he'sn't working
- 57:45Speaker 1: real hard. But I hate him. I'm gonna tell you
- 57:47Speaker 1: the truth. In high school high like, I don't like
- 57:48Speaker 1: that guy, although he's killing, he's working really hard. So
- 57:51Speaker 1: he's playing baseball, plays baseball two years and then he
- 57:54Speaker 1: plays football at junior and senior year. You you switched
- 57:57Speaker 1: from baseball to football and you're playing fullback now at Vanderbilt.
- 58:02Speaker 1: So what motivated the shift one from baseball to football?
- 58:07Speaker 1: And then why fullback? That's like the toughest spot to
- 58:10Speaker 1: play in all the college football. Let me let me
- 58:12Speaker 1: start by saying, Bobby, you're a dancer, you're an author,
- 58:16Speaker 1: but not good good radio. Um No, I mean the
- 58:21Speaker 1: honest truth is that I wasn't very good at baseball,
- 58:23Speaker 1: and I figured that out when I got to college.
- 58:25Speaker 1: And I couldn't hit the curveball, and you need to
- 58:27Speaker 1: be able to hit the curveball. Um. But I always
- 58:31Speaker 1: say this too, and I think this is important, and
- 58:33Speaker 1: maybe this is the most this is this is something
- 58:36Speaker 1: that came to me in time. I didn't recognize it
- 58:39Speaker 1: in the moment. But I was going through an identity crisis.
- 58:42Speaker 1: You know, we have, um when you're successful in something
- 58:46Speaker 1: early on, you know, and I was. I was a
- 58:48Speaker 1: good high school athlete. But we go through kind of
- 58:51Speaker 1: identity foreclosure and we stopped developing the whole self, and
- 58:56Speaker 1: we we really just start to pay attention to the
- 58:58Speaker 1: things that were celebrated for. And I was, you know,
- 59:01Speaker 1: I I had made my mind up that that um,
- 59:04Speaker 1: you know, God intended me to leave my mark on
- 59:07Speaker 1: this world by being a major League baseball player. That
- 59:09Speaker 1: was kind of you know what I believed to be
- 59:11Speaker 1: the truth. And so um, you know, when I got
- 59:15Speaker 1: to college, I was kind of pursuing this dream. And
- 59:18Speaker 1: and I actually started at Birmingham Southern College. Um, we
- 59:22Speaker 1: won the n i A World Series. I didn't play.
- 59:25Speaker 1: I was struggling, so I figured I needed to, uh,
- 59:28Speaker 1: you know, change the scenery and a fresh start. Went
- 59:30Speaker 1: to Belmont University. Wasn't playing, I wasn't having success, and
- 59:34Speaker 1: so it was at that moment where I realized, you know, goodness,
- 59:37Speaker 1: I maybe this isn't what's intended for me. Maybe there's
- 59:40Speaker 1: a I need to search further. But along the way,
- 59:44Speaker 1: I think I stopped associating my best self with just
- 59:48Speaker 1: being a really good athlete. I started doing well in school,
- 59:51Speaker 1: and I was like, you know, I want to be
- 59:53Speaker 1: successful some way, somewhere, someday. Let me. Let me get
- 59:56Speaker 1: into the best possible school that I can get into.
- 59:58Speaker 1: And you know, a interesting part of the stories that
- 1:00:01Speaker 1: Vanderbilt actually denied me admissions out of high school. And
- 1:00:04Speaker 1: I'm sure I'll get in trouble for sharing that, but
- 1:00:06Speaker 1: um so I got in through the back door as
- 1:00:08Speaker 1: a transfer, and um I ended up graduating with honors,
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: I got a master's degree. I was playing, and it's
- 1:00:13Speaker 1: not because of intelligence. It was because of the the
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: same work ethic I took to athletics. I started to
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: apply in all areas. And I say identity crisis just
- 1:00:24Speaker 1: because that concept of identity foreclosure. When I was just
- 1:00:28Speaker 1: seeing myself as a successful athlete, I was focusing on
- 1:00:32Speaker 1: that on that area alone. And when I was faltering
- 1:00:35Speaker 1: in that area, I was losing a sense of my value. Um.
- 1:00:39Speaker 1: But what I learned was I can apply the things
- 1:00:42Speaker 1: that have allowed me to be successful in those areas
- 1:00:45Speaker 1: to everything, and in doing that you become a more
- 1:00:47Speaker 1: complete person. And what a great, you know, thing to
- 1:00:51Speaker 1: learn through the experience of adversity that I can now
- 1:00:54Speaker 1: hand off to, you know, the eighteen and twenty year
- 1:00:57Speaker 1: olds that I'm responsible for. So do you like you
- 1:00:59Speaker 1: use like you like say lit so you'd be cool
- 1:01:01Speaker 1: with the guys. I mean you have to like sit,
- 1:01:03Speaker 1: like say things that you probably wouldn't say it just
- 1:01:06Speaker 1: so you're like, how do you relate to an eighteen
- 1:01:09Speaker 1: to twenty one year old? Well, I'm cool, Bobby. There
- 1:01:12Speaker 1: we go. You heard it right here. Boom um no, listen,
- 1:01:17Speaker 1: eighteen to twenty two is no different than you know, uh,
- 1:01:20Speaker 1: you know, forty years old. I mean people respond to UM.
- 1:01:24Speaker 1: I appreciate the laugh. There is a section here. It
- 1:01:28Speaker 1: gives it to me all nights and you know, being forty,
- 1:01:30Speaker 1: I'm trying to cling to my youth as long as
- 1:01:32Speaker 1: I can. But people, people will, um, they'll connect with
- 1:01:37Speaker 1: authenticity and you know, I don't change. I don't ever
- 1:01:40Speaker 1: deploy a different personality. I tried to just stay true
- 1:01:43Speaker 1: to who I am. And again, I'm I'm in a
- 1:01:45Speaker 1: you know, just like you. I mean, I'm in a
- 1:01:47Speaker 1: public um position now. I mean, people are paying attention
- 1:01:51Speaker 1: to what I'm saying, and I think in the moment,
- 1:01:54Speaker 1: it's like just a commitment to not changing. And look,
- 1:01:57Speaker 1: I may not be for everybody. What I want to
- 1:02:00Speaker 1: be is really good for my team. And if I can,
- 1:02:02Speaker 1: if I can go through this experience not wavering from
- 1:02:05Speaker 1: my values, um, not not allowing the bright lights to
- 1:02:09Speaker 1: change me, staying committed to you know that the person
- 1:02:12Speaker 1: that I know that I am, and you know, listen,
- 1:02:14Speaker 1: I've got a little sense of humor too. We have fun,
- 1:02:16Speaker 1: we have a good time, but I want to make
- 1:02:18Speaker 1: sure that the players are leaving with something of value.
- 1:02:21Speaker 1: What we do is really hard, Bobby. I mean, I'm
- 1:02:24Speaker 1: asking these guys to give everything they have to each other,
- 1:02:27Speaker 1: not to themselves, to each other. And to do that,
- 1:02:30Speaker 1: I think that, um, it requires a steady and consistent message.
- 1:02:35Speaker 1: But we also have to be inspired forward too, and
- 1:02:38Speaker 1: that's my responsibility. And certainly some of that is to
- 1:02:41Speaker 1: pull some personality out and every now and then house
- 1:02:44Speaker 1: I'm doing right now, up here's a real question. Let's
- 1:02:47Speaker 1: be authentic here. You're at a I want to say
- 1:02:50Speaker 1: a party, because I don't go to parties. But you're
- 1:02:52Speaker 1: at an event. Maybe somebody doesn't know you're a football coach.
- 1:02:55Speaker 1: Some idiots talking to how much do they know about football? Well,
- 1:02:58Speaker 1: you sit back and let be wrong, or we step
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: in and be like, excuse me, sir, head coach Vanderbilt
- 1:03:05Speaker 1: and near a moron. Yeah, no one actually wants to
- 1:03:09Speaker 1: talk football with me because, uh, you know, it's just
- 1:03:12Speaker 1: like anything. I'm gonna start talking about fit structures and
- 1:03:15Speaker 1: you know, coverage adjustments, and really what they want to
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: do is complain about the quarterback place. I stay in
- 1:03:19Speaker 1: the room every leaving. Sorry they're all walking out, guys
- 1:03:22Speaker 1: come back, but no, I listen. I I um, you know,
- 1:03:26Speaker 1: I'm I'm a pretty like private person. I think I
- 1:03:29Speaker 1: spent so much time in front of the team or
- 1:03:32Speaker 1: out at events. Usually my my party time is at home.
- 1:03:35Speaker 1: We got a nine year old, a seven year old,
- 1:03:38Speaker 1: a ten year old now, a seven year old, and
- 1:03:39Speaker 1: a four year old that just turned five. So we
- 1:03:41Speaker 1: have a a young crew that were, um, you know,
- 1:03:45Speaker 1: wrangling every day, and that's that's kind of where I
- 1:03:47Speaker 1: have my party time. I'll kind of wrap with these
- 1:03:50Speaker 1: final two questions here, what do you look for in
- 1:03:53Speaker 1: a leader? Well, I go back to the word authenticity.
- 1:03:56Speaker 1: I think I think a leader, Um, a leader starts
- 1:03:58Speaker 1: with action, you know. Um, And that's been something I've
- 1:04:01Speaker 1: really um that that I've made front and center for
- 1:04:04Speaker 1: me here kind of in this phase of my life. UM,
- 1:04:08Speaker 1: you know, I I I am charged with carrying a
- 1:04:10Speaker 1: message to a team every day. But what I what
- 1:04:13Speaker 1: I notice is if I'm not staying true to that
- 1:04:15Speaker 1: message in my own life, that um, that it's it's
- 1:04:18Speaker 1: a little bit hollow. And so to me, I think
- 1:04:21Speaker 1: you have to have the ability as a leader to
- 1:04:23Speaker 1: to first act um, second to connect with the people
- 1:04:27Speaker 1: around you, to understand and have a sense for the
- 1:04:30Speaker 1: experience that others are going through. Um, those are really
- 1:04:34Speaker 1: the two most important things I'd say. And then look,
- 1:04:36Speaker 1: you know, they're going to be certain people that carry
- 1:04:38Speaker 1: leadership traits where they're they're able to get in front
- 1:04:41Speaker 1: of people and deliver a great pregame speech or rally
- 1:04:44Speaker 1: the unit in the moment where they're needed. Um, but
- 1:04:48Speaker 1: more important on a team of a hundred and seven
- 1:04:51Speaker 1: people is that you know, everyone makes a choice to
- 1:04:54Speaker 1: do the next right thing the right way, and and
- 1:04:55Speaker 1: that's leadership through example, and that's what we're looking for.
- 1:04:58Speaker 1: What position would I play well us and with with
- 1:05:01Speaker 1: the name Bobby? Are they still laughing? By the way, coach,
- 1:05:03Speaker 1: I don't understand again, like I hear him laugh. That
- 1:05:06Speaker 1: supposed to be fun, but it hurts all right? Um, yeah,
- 1:05:11Speaker 1: so you would definitely play defense, Bobby bones. You can't
- 1:05:13Speaker 1: have that name and I play defense. I've got you
- 1:05:16Speaker 1: by by height weight, um so six six ft and
- 1:05:21Speaker 1: a half. Hey, listen, I know that game. Um no,
- 1:05:25Speaker 1: you're gonna play safety man, and you're gonna you're gonna
- 1:05:28Speaker 1: step down and make the big hit and celebrate the interception.
- 1:05:30Speaker 1: Let's finish it in the end zone. I can see
- 1:05:32Speaker 1: it happening. So let's brag about my high school. It's
- 1:05:35Speaker 1: for a second, I played the X SO for you
- 1:05:38Speaker 1: guys who don't a football's wide receiver coach, and I
- 1:05:40Speaker 1: know we know if we know football after we're talking
- 1:05:42Speaker 1: about Yeah, so I played wide receiver, play a little
- 1:05:44Speaker 1: little slot, good hands, high motor guy, which means not
- 1:05:47Speaker 1: a lot of speed. But it's right. It's one of
- 1:05:49Speaker 1: those two. That's okay. And so coach pat back on punt.
- 1:05:52Speaker 1: He said, you need to return punts. I can catch.
- 1:05:54Speaker 1: Throw the ball to me, I will catch it. He said,
- 1:05:55Speaker 1: you're gonna return punts. Guy dropped like three in a row.
- 1:05:57Speaker 1: I said, great, I get back. And now when you're
- 1:05:59Speaker 1: returning upon this is high school reliving glory days. Here.
- 1:06:01Speaker 1: I'm looking. I see all the butts of my guys
- 1:06:04Speaker 1: go about to go that way, and I see the
- 1:06:05Speaker 1: I barely see the punter's head, and I'm I'm nervous.
- 1:06:08Speaker 1: Although I play a lot, I've never returned upunting the game.
- 1:06:10Speaker 1: I never turned upt practice. Coach, what kind of idiot
- 1:06:12Speaker 1: puts me in the game. We're turning out upunt of game?
- 1:06:13Speaker 1: That's never done in practice? Whom I see it go up? Now,
- 1:06:16Speaker 1: it goes above the lights. That's difficult. I never practiced this.
- 1:06:20Speaker 1: The ball goes above the lights. The balls come back
- 1:06:22Speaker 1: down the lights. I look and I see like it
- 1:06:24Speaker 1: feels like fifty people going running at meat, running at meat,
- 1:06:29Speaker 1: you know, And I consider myself a brave person. I do.
- 1:06:31Speaker 1: I consider myself. I'll take on any challenge. Um, I
- 1:06:34Speaker 1: ran away. Well it sounds like something that you know
- 1:06:39Speaker 1: I need to help you confront here. Oh you don't
- 1:06:41Speaker 1: need to know. Okay, listen, when you come out to practice,
- 1:06:44Speaker 1: we're getting the jugs out. We're gonna let you catch
- 1:06:46Speaker 1: some punts the jugs. That's fun catching when nobody on me,
- 1:06:49Speaker 1: somebody hitting me, that would be bad news. You feel
- 1:06:52Speaker 1: good about this season, coach? Do? I mean? Listen? You
- 1:06:55Speaker 1: know I, Um, I think what is important to me
- 1:06:59Speaker 1: is progress. What is important to me as identity. You know,
- 1:07:01Speaker 1: those are things that we haven't had at Vanderbilt. Those
- 1:07:03Speaker 1: are things that you know. I'm an alum. I mean
- 1:07:05Speaker 1: I played at Vandy, so I followed this program for
- 1:07:07Speaker 1: a long time. UM, And I want to put a
- 1:07:10Speaker 1: team on the field that people are inspired by. That
- 1:07:13Speaker 1: are you know? They see that the team playing for
- 1:07:16Speaker 1: each other, they're fighting for every blade of grass on
- 1:07:18Speaker 1: the field. And we can do that. Um. You know,
- 1:07:21Speaker 1: we're early in this build, and so we got a
- 1:07:24Speaker 1: lot of young players. And with young players we got,
- 1:07:26Speaker 1: we got to bring them along. But we've had a
- 1:07:28Speaker 1: great camp and I'm just excited to take this team
- 1:07:31Speaker 1: to Hawaiian Open Season. Awesome, coach, I appreciate you. Hey, guys,
- 1:07:35Speaker 1: right here, motivational moments for this guy. Coach Lee get
- 1:07:40Speaker 1: a big round of applause. Thanks to coach Clarke Lee.
- 1:07:44Speaker 1: He did afterwards say hey, I do want you to
- 1:07:47Speaker 1: come out to practice and catch some punts. And so
- 1:07:50Speaker 1: I probably won't do that. He really, because you guys
- 1:07:53Speaker 1: haven't heard it. People listening to this, we didn't listen
- 1:07:55Speaker 1: to that back right then, We just five seconds later
- 1:07:57Speaker 1: went okay, let's move on, right That's that's how you
- 1:07:59Speaker 1: do a podcast. So in that clip I talked about
- 1:08:03Speaker 1: returning punts in high school when my coach is like, okay,
- 1:08:06Speaker 1: our guy dropped like three in a row, is like,
- 1:08:07Speaker 1: go return to the punts. And I never practiced that
- 1:08:09Speaker 1: much less its done in the game. And so I
- 1:08:11Speaker 1: went back and I was talking about it goes up
- 1:08:14Speaker 1: into the lights and you lose it, and that comes
- 1:08:16Speaker 1: back down and you gotta catch it and there's people
- 1:08:18Speaker 1: running at you. It's just a lot to have never
- 1:08:20Speaker 1: have experienced it. And I'm not really afraid of much.
- 1:08:24Speaker 1: I'm scared of a lot of things, but I'm not
- 1:08:25Speaker 1: so afraid that I'm not going to take on a challenge.
- 1:08:27Speaker 1: And so I remember that ball coming down and I
- 1:08:29Speaker 1: was like, nope, when it ran off the side, I
- 1:08:32Speaker 1: just didn't. And I told that story to him and
- 1:08:34Speaker 1: he was like, all right, you gonna come out and
- 1:08:35Speaker 1: catch some punts of practice with our team, And I
- 1:08:38Speaker 1: don't think so, I just don't. And I don't. I
- 1:08:41Speaker 1: don't think so if you do it where you catch
- 1:08:42Speaker 1: multiple like in those videos, you know I can't catch one,
- 1:08:45Speaker 1: I'm gonna catch two. So you know, I'm moving for
- 1:08:48Speaker 1: Vanderbilt a little bit. I like that, and I like
- 1:08:51Speaker 1: them to beat everybody but Arkansas, so and we're not
- 1:08:53Speaker 1: playing them, I would love for them to win some games.
- 1:08:56Speaker 1: College football's back. It's time to enjoy the tradition to
- 1:08:59Speaker 1: fund the great offers from Draft Kings sports book to
- 1:09:01Speaker 1: celebrate the best time of the year. Right now, new
- 1:09:02Speaker 1: customers can bet just five dollars on any team and
- 1:09:05Speaker 1: get two hundred dollars and free bets instantly, win or lose. Kickoff,
- 1:09:09Speaker 1: Kevin break that down for me. So if I bet
- 1:09:11Speaker 1: five dollars, then what happens? Then? If you bet? Yeah? Yeah, kickoff?
- 1:09:18Speaker 1: Kevin's over there on his phone ahead here. Uh, you're
- 1:09:22Speaker 1: looking at your story coming out. I can I can
- 1:09:25Speaker 1: respect that. I'm trying to. I can to plan myself
- 1:09:27Speaker 1: in my head how I'm gonna present it. If you
- 1:09:28Speaker 1: bet five dollars on any team, you get two hundred
- 1:09:31Speaker 1: dollars and free bets instantly win or lose, so five bucks.
- 1:09:33Speaker 1: Let's say you bet on the Cowboys Week one NFL.
- 1:09:37Speaker 1: It's a good bet. Five bucks, it's it, and they lose,
- 1:09:39Speaker 1: you still get two in free bets. Given me, that's
- 1:09:43Speaker 1: no brainer. Just do it. So. Also, same game parlays
- 1:09:47Speaker 1: for a shot at even bigger payouts in the same game.
- 1:09:48Speaker 1: Parlay would be you do a parley multiple bets, but
- 1:09:51Speaker 1: inside of one game, you could bet the spread, you
- 1:09:54Speaker 1: could bet them, you could bet how many yards as
- 1:09:56Speaker 1: gonna throw four over under, that kind of thing. But
- 1:09:58Speaker 1: you can do that, and when just combine multiple bets,
- 1:10:00Speaker 1: that's it. Draft Kings is safe, secure and reliable. Best
- 1:10:03Speaker 1: of all, you can pause and withdraw your cash, but
- 1:10:05Speaker 1: whenever you want. So, I'm gonna bet Vandy minus. Let
- 1:10:09Speaker 1: me quick, I'm gonna do one right now. Live. Yeah,
- 1:10:14Speaker 1: does somebody say is it legal? You know what if
- 1:10:17Speaker 1: you say that that's not like a bad boy. Hey, exactly,
- 1:10:19Speaker 1: who cares? I knew no one said that. Someone asking
- 1:10:24Speaker 1: if I'm doing is against the law. I'm glad you asked.
- 1:10:27Speaker 1: I don't know what I'm doing it anywhere. Vanderbilt at
- 1:10:30Speaker 1: the time of this recording is an eight eight and
- 1:10:32Speaker 1: a half point favorite. Dancil keep going on, God, okay,
- 1:10:38Speaker 1: that's all right Vanderbilt. Let's go at minus eight and
- 1:10:41Speaker 1: a half. And then I'm also gonna go with the
- 1:10:45Speaker 1: over over unders fifty three and I'm gonna sit there
- 1:10:48Speaker 1: on just on those two. That's my parlay. Let's see
- 1:10:50Speaker 1: if I bet bucks on that, it pays. It's pretty good.
- 1:10:56Speaker 1: Now I'm bet more than that. You know what, Commodore,
- 1:11:01Speaker 1: that's a five dollar bet for me. Man, I heard
- 1:11:04Speaker 1: I heard clarkly talk there. I know what's up. I'm
- 1:11:06Speaker 1: betting to win three. Do you wanted to use face?
- 1:11:12Speaker 1: I d yes, I do. Oh wow, to place your bet?
- 1:11:16Speaker 1: That's why? Doesn't let me place your bet? Oh yeah, okay,
- 1:11:22Speaker 1: bet it's going done boom all right. Hey, I don't
- 1:11:25Speaker 1: care if it's legal or not. I love life my
- 1:11:27Speaker 1: own way. Hey, nobody said anything, though, na I know
- 1:11:30Speaker 1: what you're thinking though that guys a wild card. You
- 1:11:32Speaker 1: know what, You're right, I'm crazy. All right, well, this
- 1:11:36Speaker 1: is what we do here at the end of the
- 1:11:37Speaker 1: old deal. Where are we going around and take a take?
- 1:11:40Speaker 1: And but before that, I want to tell you a
- 1:11:42Speaker 1: secondent we didn't do. Eddie suggested to me privately, let's
- 1:11:45Speaker 1: do who would you cut from the podcast? Now? Why
- 1:11:48Speaker 1: do you think this will be a good segment? Because
- 1:11:50Speaker 1: it's the time of year when teams are looking who
- 1:11:52Speaker 1: to cut, like preseasons over. They kind of looked at
- 1:11:55Speaker 1: everything and being like, all right, we gotta get rid
- 1:11:57Speaker 1: of I mean, it's a tough decision. They have to
- 1:11:59Speaker 1: do it every single year. So I'm saying, what, look around,
- 1:12:03Speaker 1: who would you cut out of us? In here in
- 1:12:06Speaker 1: the studio? We don't have a roster limit. Yeah, but
- 1:12:09Speaker 1: I mean hypothetically, like just so for suggesting to segment
- 1:12:13Speaker 1: you there you go, and that's the end of segment. Yes,
- 1:12:18Speaker 1: all right, ending thoughts everybody. I need your big opinion.
- 1:12:21Speaker 1: Let's go to Adam Handbrike. Oh man, my opinion has
- 1:12:25Speaker 1: to do with tex saing M. I'm on a tex
- 1:12:26Speaker 1: Sa a M kick today. Um, I'm I just cannot
- 1:12:30Speaker 1: get my head around why the expectation coming on Texas,
- 1:12:34Speaker 1: A and M is what it is going into this fall.
- 1:12:36Speaker 1: All these all these kids, five star kids, they got
- 1:12:39Speaker 1: incredible recruiting class, incredible job um, but all these kids
- 1:12:43Speaker 1: are gonna step onto the field this fall and make
- 1:12:45Speaker 1: a difference. They still haven't announced the starting quarterback as
- 1:12:48Speaker 1: of the as of the recording of this podcast, I
- 1:12:50Speaker 1: don't know what they're gonna be. I don't know how
- 1:12:52Speaker 1: they can justify that ranking. Um showing what they've doing,
- 1:12:57Speaker 1: what they did last year, and then starting this year
- 1:12:59Speaker 1: where they are, um so Texas and then you've got
- 1:13:01Speaker 1: a lot to proof. We'll talk to Brandon Marcella next week.
- 1:13:04Speaker 1: We'll ask him about that specifically. That's it's high, I mean,
- 1:13:08Speaker 1: not a high the best of all time recruiters, which
- 1:13:11Speaker 1: it's also not basketball. It's also not basketball. If you
- 1:13:14Speaker 1: do that in basketball, you probably go pretty freaking far
- 1:13:18Speaker 1: because it's five kids, and that's much more of an
- 1:13:22Speaker 1: individual sport. That's athleticism and basketball football you gotta depend
- 1:13:26Speaker 1: on everybody, you know. So I agree they could win
- 1:13:30Speaker 1: nine games. I think yeah, I think they can win
- 1:13:32Speaker 1: nine games. But that would be a good year for them.
- 1:13:35Speaker 1: But I do believe do these teams that don't announce
- 1:13:38Speaker 1: quarterbacks do they know who their quarterback is and just
- 1:13:40Speaker 1: choose not to yea the most Now, for the most part,
- 1:13:43Speaker 1: that's what It gives you an advantage over the other
- 1:13:45Speaker 1: team too. That's why Cincinnati is not announcing their quarterbright
- 1:13:48Speaker 1: for Arkansas right now? Do they probably know? Yeah? If
- 1:13:51Speaker 1: they didn't, what the crap out the field and what's
- 1:13:54Speaker 1: something of the game? Hey you're starting today? Hey whom
- 1:13:58Speaker 1: the quarterbacks again? Okay, thank you, Adam, kick off, Kevin,
- 1:14:03Speaker 1: your fine old big opinion. Ricky Williams was recently on
- 1:14:06Speaker 1: a podcast called My Other Passion and he was talking
- 1:14:08Speaker 1: about n i L deals and he had an interesting
- 1:14:10Speaker 1: take on it. He was saying that the players shouldn't
- 1:14:13Speaker 1: be able to get paid until after they graduate. He
- 1:14:15Speaker 1: was basically saying, trust. Yeah, like, you can get your deal,
- 1:14:18Speaker 1: no problem, You get your money, but you have to
- 1:14:20Speaker 1: still keep like the integrity of going to school, working
- 1:14:23Speaker 1: towards something, keep the passion. He was just saying that
- 1:14:26Speaker 1: he was afraid that the passion was kind of gonna
- 1:14:28Speaker 1: get lost in it. That's all folk talk, honestly. Yeah. Yeah,
- 1:14:31Speaker 1: Well he's kind of older. Yeah, that's all folk talk.
- 1:14:32Speaker 1: That's funny to hear that that's him, but it's I
- 1:14:34Speaker 1: think I just thought that was a cool like way
- 1:14:36Speaker 1: of going about it. Hey, still handle your business and
- 1:14:39Speaker 1: you'll get your money. It's kind of way it works. Yeah,
- 1:14:41Speaker 1: that ain't the American way though. It is not kind
- 1:14:43Speaker 1: of how it works except this one awful organization called
- 1:14:46Speaker 1: the n C double A. That's the only reason it's
- 1:14:48Speaker 1: not how it works. I can subscribe to that a
- 1:14:50Speaker 1: bit where I think that he has some But boy,
- 1:14:53Speaker 1: you're not paying them to go to school. You're literally
- 1:14:55Speaker 1: paying them for their name, image or likeness. That's the
- 1:14:58Speaker 1: problem now. I think if when there are regulations, if
- 1:15:02Speaker 1: you want to make sure they go to class to
- 1:15:03Speaker 1: get the money that the thrown right, then like if
- 1:15:05Speaker 1: there's that, like you get paid every week of the deal.
- 1:15:09Speaker 1: Let's say I make a deal for a hundred bucks
- 1:15:11Speaker 1: with kJ Jefferson Unversity of Arkansas. I haven't I don't
- 1:15:15Speaker 1: plan on doing a deal with kJ Jefferson. I love them,
- 1:15:17Speaker 1: but I'm not in contact with this folks at all.
- 1:15:20Speaker 1: And it's a hundred bucks kJ Jefferson, Okay, every week,
- 1:15:24Speaker 1: it's ten bucks at you for ten weeks. All you
- 1:15:26Speaker 1: have to do just go to class and then what
- 1:15:28Speaker 1: you do and you don't miss class. School says it's
- 1:15:31Speaker 1: in a trust and the school pays you out weekly.
- 1:15:32Speaker 1: I could see something like that happening. But if you're
- 1:15:35Speaker 1: doing the work, you deserve to be paid for your
- 1:15:36Speaker 1: work while you're doing the work. Why is this the
- 1:15:39Speaker 1: only place where people like I don't think people should
- 1:15:41Speaker 1: get pay for the work they do until they get older.
- 1:15:43Speaker 1: What the no this America? I think too. There's there's
- 1:15:46Speaker 1: something about college football that's always been awesome. It's like
- 1:15:49Speaker 1: the romanticism, Like everybody loves that our boys play for
- 1:15:53Speaker 1: us and like our boys play for STI stupid, it
- 1:15:56Speaker 1: might it might be, but that's one of the inspiring,
- 1:15:58Speaker 1: like really cool things. It's like the human element of
- 1:16:01Speaker 1: college They don't even live where you live from the
- 1:16:04Speaker 1: same town or state for the most part, totally. But
- 1:16:07Speaker 1: that's what that's what people fell in love with college football,
- 1:16:10Speaker 1: and like the fifties and the sixties when like it
- 1:16:12Speaker 1: first started really becoming a thing, and that's what that's
- 1:16:14Speaker 1: what people miss and that's what people feel like the
- 1:16:16Speaker 1: human element is going the tradition, like like you were
- 1:16:20Speaker 1: saying recently, we hate change, right, people were getting paid to.
- 1:16:24Speaker 1: People were just getting lied to more. You know what,
- 1:16:25Speaker 1: I missed getting lied to, that's what they're saying. Yeah,
- 1:16:29Speaker 1: I missed the love and and the real, the old
- 1:16:32Speaker 1: folk field of getting lied to every day, every Saturday.
- 1:16:35Speaker 1: Thinking these guys were doing it for tradition. Bull crap.
- 1:16:38Speaker 1: They get paid by a scholarship and by and they
- 1:16:41Speaker 1: used to get paid all the time by folks just
- 1:16:43Speaker 1: being like, hey, there's an envelope on your doorstep. Hey,
- 1:16:45Speaker 1: there's a new bag. There's a car. I don't know
- 1:16:48Speaker 1: where it came from. But they were probably getting paid
- 1:16:50Speaker 1: more then than they are now, if we're being honest
- 1:16:53Speaker 1: about it. They weren't getting taxed for probably, So I
- 1:16:57Speaker 1: understand why he would say that. And I hate being
- 1:17:00Speaker 1: the one older guy that is like, you know, cool
- 1:17:03Speaker 1: gen z, you know kind of what I am. Uh,
- 1:17:05Speaker 1: but I get it. I know I'd say that was
- 1:17:07Speaker 1: him in his day. You should feel like I mean,
- 1:17:09Speaker 1: I like, I still like the music from my day,
- 1:17:12Speaker 1: you know why, because in my day that's what formed
- 1:17:15Speaker 1: in shape me in with Ricky Williams. It's and I
- 1:17:18Speaker 1: l Dills after you've done the work and weed. Yeah, Eddie, Yeah,
- 1:17:25Speaker 1: the Cowboys have found a star. It's unbelievable. Sometimes you
- 1:17:29Speaker 1: just get lucky and you're like, wow, where did this
- 1:17:30Speaker 1: guy come from? But a last game preseason game Chargers
- 1:17:34Speaker 1: co star guys, he came out of nowhere. He returned
- 1:17:40Speaker 1: and like a ninety yard kickoff for a touchdown. Amazing.
- 1:17:44Speaker 1: The next punt he returns that for another touchdown. Unstoppable. Dude,
- 1:17:49Speaker 1: he looks so good. And now I read that the
- 1:17:52Speaker 1: Cowboys are looking at he's he's starting to do reps
- 1:17:55Speaker 1: with the starting offense. Now, so now we may be
- 1:17:57Speaker 1: looking at me, looking at what wide receiver number three,
- 1:18:00Speaker 1: number four here Kavante Turpin and this dude raft dazing.
- 1:18:04Speaker 1: No no, no, no no, I know you guys did an
- 1:18:05Speaker 1: auction fantasy could no no, no, no, no, no not yet.
- 1:18:09Speaker 1: Let me see where he is? Not says you up
- 1:18:10Speaker 1: on your guy earlier that way when everybody else is
- 1:18:12Speaker 1: trying to get him, You like, did anyone else see
- 1:18:14Speaker 1: this guy play? Yes? Amazing, bones, this guy is going
- 1:18:18Speaker 1: to be a star. That's why I can't watch preseason
- 1:18:19Speaker 1: because I'm him. I'm a second round drafted. Yeah, I'm
- 1:18:24Speaker 1: not saying that you're stupid. I'm saying that I'm stupid
- 1:18:28Speaker 1: like you. And that's why I can't watch preseason. Well,
- 1:18:31Speaker 1: you know, as a Cowboys fan, a little worried because
- 1:18:33Speaker 1: you know you've got uh Ceedee Lamb is your number one,
- 1:18:36Speaker 1: and then you know you're like, what are we Michael
- 1:18:38Speaker 1: Gallups Hurt, You're looking at a couple other ones. So
- 1:18:41Speaker 1: when you see a star like this shining preseason and
- 1:18:43Speaker 1: you read that the Cowboys are taking some interest in
- 1:18:45Speaker 1: him and looking obviously to keep them and now doing
- 1:18:48Speaker 1: reps with the offense, like, guys, problem solved. Here we
- 1:18:51Speaker 1: go like for their opinions, every single person I expected,
- 1:18:58Speaker 1: I'll go with mine, especially guys doing fantasy. Let's say
- 1:19:01Speaker 1: you don't take a quarterback in the first five or
- 1:19:03Speaker 1: six rounds. Um, Jalen Hurts is gonna be so good
- 1:19:06Speaker 1: this year. I'm here, I'm not going to draft him
- 1:19:09Speaker 1: because I don't know it's Jalen Hurts. But Jalen Hurts
- 1:19:12Speaker 1: is gonna be so good this year because he's got
- 1:19:15Speaker 1: a J Brown, Quaz Devanta Smith, he already is. He
- 1:19:20Speaker 1: was playing last year with almost no weapons, a young
- 1:19:23Speaker 1: Devanta's who was having to spend the first half of
- 1:19:26Speaker 1: the year figuring it out. I think how Jalen Hurts runs,
- 1:19:31Speaker 1: which you'll run a little less. He's not a big
- 1:19:33Speaker 1: He's like Lamar and like size wise, because it's not
- 1:19:36Speaker 1: a huge tray Lance is a big, bigger dude, like big, thicker,
- 1:19:39Speaker 1: more muscular dude. I think Jalen Hurts is a guy
- 1:19:42Speaker 1: you could probably get twelfth round and hold and put in.
- 1:19:48Speaker 1: And if you have another really good quarterback you can
- 1:19:50Speaker 1: probably trade that really good quarterback later for another good
- 1:19:54Speaker 1: player for your team. But I would take Jalen Hurts.
- 1:19:56Speaker 1: I just hate saying that to you guys, because you're
- 1:19:58Speaker 1: all at three of you are on my league. I'm
- 1:20:00Speaker 1: all leagues are different, right, But last night during our
- 1:20:02Speaker 1: our draft, in one of my league's, he went undrafted, right,
- 1:20:05Speaker 1: So I'd scoop him and hold them because I think
- 1:20:09Speaker 1: that his potential is really high because of all the
- 1:20:12Speaker 1: weapons that he has in Philadelphia. All Right, that's what's up.
- 1:20:16Speaker 1: I need to pick who I give the whistle of
- 1:20:18Speaker 1: the show too, and this time I'm gonna go with
- 1:20:20Speaker 1: Mike D. And I'm gonna tell you why. Mike D
- 1:20:22Speaker 1: because when we asked you how far I get throw
- 1:20:24Speaker 1: a football? You didn't imagine the size of your ding dong.
- 1:20:28Speaker 1: No you didn't. You didn't look at it and go,
- 1:20:30Speaker 1: I'm gonna just say it's a lot bigger than it is.
- 1:20:32Speaker 1: You said, what's a football? And you know what? For that,
- 1:20:36Speaker 1: you get to blow the whistle. So Mike's gonna blow
- 1:20:38Speaker 1: the whistle. Don't forget we appreciate draft kings. There's the
- 1:20:41Speaker 1: reason we're doing this. If you'd like to show, please follow,
- 1:20:43Speaker 1: please comment. It really does help us next week on
