- 0:51Speaker 1: Coming to you live from the Studsman Sports Complex, right
- 0:54Speaker 1: next to the Kenneyweast band Camp for brass instruments, only
- 0:58Speaker 1: where it would seem that so much has happened in
- 1:01Speaker 1: a week that we were hit by Hurricane Ralph. The
- 1:07Speaker 1: birthday was missed.
- 1:10Speaker 2: By day.
- 1:13Speaker 1: An argument was had. We've been right now. We just
- 1:16Speaker 1: need to get Kenny over to over to Prior so
- 1:20Speaker 1: that way he can have dinner and relax and vacation.
- 1:24Speaker 1: Is vacation you vacation starts today, doesn't it? No? No Saturday? Yeah,
- 1:29Speaker 1: so I everybody knows how to get a six human
- 1:32Speaker 1: vehicle for cheap? Did we get to Colorado? Went back?
- 1:36Speaker 1: Go ahead and give us a call before Saturday.
- 1:39Speaker 3: It's sports Welcome, Welcome, welcome, Thank you all for joining
- 1:42Speaker 3: us for this episode of Sports Allegedly on June twenty fourth,
- 1:45Speaker 3: twenty twenty twenty.
- 1:48Speaker 2: Yeah, I got it done.
- 1:49Speaker 1: Is it a car rental? So got how how much
- 1:54Speaker 1: I've hurt in his pocket?
- 1:55Speaker 3: Did we got Brendan Soresby news from the NFL. We've
- 1:58Speaker 3: got obviously some oh you football court legal matter news.
- 2:03Speaker 1: And I would just go on n C double A
- 2:05Speaker 1: legal matters because they said, but have they said, have
- 2:09Speaker 1: they said anything about.
- 2:12Speaker 2: Got thunder draft second round?
- 2:14Speaker 1: Tonight?
- 2:14Speaker 2: We'll talk about the Thunders draft last night and others.
- 2:17Speaker 1: It's so exciting.
- 2:18Speaker 3: But first, let's let's open with the most entertaining thing
- 2:23Speaker 3: we've been doing in the last two weeks because there
- 2:26Speaker 3: is no football and who would have thought? Who would
- 2:29Speaker 3: have thought that we did? We were glued to our TVs.
- 2:33Speaker 3: We were college baseball.
- 2:36Speaker 1: How many weeks was that that we we watched every
- 2:39Speaker 1: round of this.
- 2:42Speaker 3: Well, Omaha in the region, I think, I think everything.
- 2:46Speaker 3: When did that start? I think it's three weeks? Is
- 2:49Speaker 3: it three weeks total? It's got to be about three
- 2:52Speaker 3: weeks total? So obviously, oh, you opens.
- 2:56Speaker 1: In the all SEC backet.
- 2:59Speaker 3: Open up in the Georgia Regional. We're gonna go that far,
- 3:03Speaker 3: the Georgia Tech Regional and number two in the nation,
- 3:07Speaker 3: Georgia Tech number two overall seed.
- 3:10Speaker 2: Uh and we win.
- 3:11Speaker 3: We beat Georgia Tech twice and that was the crazy game.
- 3:13Speaker 3: We came back from being like eight or seven runs
- 3:16Speaker 3: down or something.
- 3:17Speaker 1: Uh.
- 3:18Speaker 3: So they surprise us there and then we get set up.
- 3:22Speaker 3: So we beat Georgia Tech. They're the ACC regular season champ.
- 3:25Speaker 3: They're the ACC tournament champ. Then we go to Kansas.
- 3:28Speaker 1: I remember, oh, you decided to shift the bed in
- 3:31Speaker 1: the SEC in the SEC turn.
- 3:33Speaker 3: First game, right out of the bat, we lose to
- 3:34Speaker 3: a very lowly Alburn, No LSU.
- 3:38Speaker 2: They didn't have a good year. They're good program, didn't
- 3:39Speaker 2: have a good year.
- 3:40Speaker 3: So Oklahoma then goes to Kansas to face the Big
- 3:44Speaker 3: twelve regular season champ, Big twelve Tournament Champ, which.
- 3:49Speaker 1: We've only been two three years removed from playing in Lawrence.
- 3:51Speaker 3: Yesing we we think that we had a shot, and
- 3:56Speaker 3: we killed them in both games. So then we go
- 3:58Speaker 3: set up and we go to Omaha, which is crazy surprise.
- 4:02Speaker 3: But not only not only is it such a surprise.
- 4:05Speaker 3: We look at the bracket and we've got Texas on
- 4:07Speaker 3: our side, We've got Georgia on our side, and we've
- 4:10Speaker 3: got Alabama.
- 4:11Speaker 1: On our side. We've got three thorns on our side.
- 4:13Speaker 1: And I would say that we had been on a
- 4:15Speaker 1: thorn in their side as well.
- 4:16Speaker 3: And I'm thinking, look at West Virginia and oh yeah,
- 4:20Speaker 3: North Carolina got at breezy over there, because I did.
- 4:24Speaker 3: I thought that was the easier because old mission Troy.
- 4:27Speaker 3: Of course, congratulations to Troy for their first win. They
- 4:30Speaker 3: take out Old.
- 4:31Speaker 1: Miss Troy, being the darling, the Cinderella team for baseball.
- 4:37Speaker 2: We opened baseball, we kill Alabama.
- 4:39Speaker 3: Now Alabama was the weaker of those three other teams,
- 4:44Speaker 3: so I thought, uh.
- 4:45Speaker 1: Well they were number seven.
- 4:46Speaker 3: Not necessarily weaker than know you, they were ranked better off.
- 4:48Speaker 1: They were number seven, Texas was six, and Georgia was three.
- 4:52Speaker 3: Yes, that's great, so we move, Uh play Georgia. We
- 4:58Speaker 3: got to beat them once, and we do, and now
- 5:00Speaker 3: we got to beat them twice. So they got to
- 5:02Speaker 3: beat us twice to get to the final.
- 5:03Speaker 1: And what do we do.
- 5:04Speaker 3: We going to close them out that game right off
- 5:06Speaker 3: the bat, eleven to four the first one, and that
- 5:12Speaker 3: was that was a close.
- 5:13Speaker 1: Georgia had to go play Texas, beat Texas, which they
- 5:16Speaker 1: did and the losers bracket coming out of two. So
- 5:19Speaker 1: in that in that June seventeenth game, it was had
- 5:23Speaker 1: Georgia one, it would we would have two more games
- 5:25Speaker 1: to play or one more game to play. But since
- 5:28Speaker 1: the fact that OU had not lost in coming in
- 5:33Speaker 1: and no, we've had two more games to play, wouldn't.
- 5:35Speaker 3: Against Georgia, Yes, yeah, george would have had to beat
- 5:37Speaker 3: us twice. So then we go back and we make
- 5:40Speaker 3: the championship, which is crazy.
- 5:41Speaker 1: So then beat Georgia.
- 5:43Speaker 2: Now now you've beat You've beat the.
- 5:45Speaker 3: ACC regular season tournament team, you beat the Big twelve
- 5:47Speaker 3: regular season tournament team, and now you beat Georgia, the
- 5:51Speaker 3: SEC regular season and tournament winner. You go through all
- 5:54Speaker 3: three of those and you haven't lost the game yet.
- 5:57Speaker 3: Now you go play Florida, the ACC tournament champion. I mean,
- 6:00Speaker 3: you didn't see in the a SEC tournament and uh,
- 6:05Speaker 3: I had to say tournament and regular season? First game sixth,
- 6:10Speaker 3: first game, nine to three.
- 6:12Speaker 1: How was Georgia Tech and Carolina? What's that? Didn't you
- 6:16Speaker 1: say Georgia Tech was the regular season.
- 6:18Speaker 2: Se No, it was ACC. I'm sorry, Yes, Georgia Tech was.
- 6:23Speaker 3: But North Carolina I thought was the better team because
- 6:26Speaker 3: they're pitching in all the ACC.
- 6:28Speaker 2: But Georgia Tech had a better season.
- 6:30Speaker 1: And everybody had banked on North Carolina to come out
- 6:32Speaker 1: of that on top.
- 6:34Speaker 3: Agreed, and I thought they'd win that top bracket because
- 6:37Speaker 3: I think I picked I think I picked them in
- 6:39Speaker 3: Texas and North Carolina winning it.
- 6:42Speaker 1: Me and I think ME engaged had North Carolina versus
- 6:45Speaker 1: Georgia Yeah, Georgia winning.
- 6:47Speaker 3: And I had Texas Texas winning, or have North Carolina.
- 6:49Speaker 2: I think North Carolina.
- 6:51Speaker 1: It's been so it's been two weeks now.
- 6:53Speaker 3: No, North Carolina's gotta beat his.
- 6:55Speaker 1: Two games.
- 6:55Speaker 3: They win the first, the second one six to two
- 6:58Speaker 3: in a very That game just looked like OU was
- 7:03Speaker 3: very apprehensive. Wasn't having fun.
- 7:06Speaker 2: You know, they got out to every game they brought.
- 7:08Speaker 1: June twentieth game was a rain game when everything got
- 7:11Speaker 1: moved up for the twenty first, which I woke up
- 7:16Speaker 1: into the eighth inning of both games, and I know
- 7:22Speaker 1: you losing the second game is not a surprise. I
- 7:26Speaker 1: mean it was only sixty two loss, but it was
- 7:28Speaker 1: it was not a surprise.
- 7:30Speaker 3: Well, I think the funny thing about that watching it
- 7:33Speaker 3: as a fan, the first game, they go up to
- 7:35Speaker 3: nothing and immediately give up three runs, so they're down
- 7:38Speaker 3: in game one, and then they go on there the
- 7:40Speaker 3: hitting barrage and scores.
- 7:42Speaker 1: Run in game two. That hitting barrage just did not happen. No,
- 7:46Speaker 1: I think the North Carolina ace was on the field
- 7:49Speaker 1: in the middle.
- 7:50Speaker 3: Yes, they brought him out for the mid as a reliever,
- 7:53Speaker 3: and he pitched five in Game two.
- 7:55Speaker 1: Yes, and so also because of anybody knows, it's hard
- 8:00Speaker 1: to get stats for these damn games.
- 8:02Speaker 3: Also go up to to nothing, and that's this game.
- 8:05Speaker 3: In game two, they're up to nothing.
- 8:06Speaker 1: No, no, I'm just get stats for the game.
- 8:07Speaker 3: Oh I know, but they're up to nothing, and then
- 8:09Speaker 3: obviously they'll do six to two. Doesn't really you're curious.
- 8:13Speaker 3: Didn't pitch a bad game, but he had a bad inning.
- 8:15Speaker 3: He threw one inning. He had over forty eight pitches.
- 8:19Speaker 3: I think it was forty eight forty nine pitches in
- 8:21Speaker 3: one inning. So I was watching and he just he
- 8:23Speaker 3: had a bad inning and that was mainly it. Then
- 8:25Speaker 3: they get one tacked on. But Game one for Oklahoma
- 8:29Speaker 3: home runs. Now you go down to Game three, the final,
- 8:32Speaker 3: the championship. Oklahoma jumps out.
- 8:35Speaker 1: Early, didn't didn't Branch, didn't Branch have a home who
- 8:38Speaker 1: had the home run in both games?
- 8:39Speaker 3: But the chance the chance had it in the first game.
- 8:45Speaker 3: Branch did not have a good series to me until
- 8:48Speaker 3: the last game six RBIs he had the one home
- 8:51Speaker 3: run because Game three was all singles. I mean, there
- 8:54Speaker 3: was a lot of good hitting in that game. It
- 8:56Speaker 3: wasn't the deep ball like it was in Game one.
- 8:58Speaker 3: Had a lot of singles. Branch, we thought there were.
- 9:00Speaker 3: There might have been two, but I know the big
- 9:02Speaker 3: one wasn't that might have that might have been.
- 9:05Speaker 2: There might have been one before Sewan.
- 9:06Speaker 3: You might be right, but I know Branch had the big,
- 9:10Speaker 3: the big three runner, three run, and that pretty much
- 9:13Speaker 3: sealed the deal there.
- 9:14Speaker 1: That was.
- 9:15Speaker 3: I mean it was two, but I mean that one
- 9:18Speaker 3: was just electric when it comes uh to that. So
- 9:24Speaker 3: I'm trying to think, yeah, talk he had one.
- 9:26Speaker 2: No, that's oh, what's.
- 9:29Speaker 1: The you know, what's up there? That's the home run? Talk?
- 9:35Speaker 3: That is it?
- 9:36Speaker 1: So? How good does it feel?
- 9:41Speaker 2: It must have been a single? Maybe it was?
- 9:43Speaker 1: It was it was one run, Okay, it was a
- 9:45Speaker 1: one run shot.
- 9:47Speaker 3: But interesting stat and I do love interesting stats. The
- 9:50Speaker 3: only team in history of the College World Series championship
- 9:55Speaker 3: that started a freshman picture every game, every all those kids,
- 10:01Speaker 3: the starters, every starter was a freshman in every game
- 10:05Speaker 3: of the whole championship series. And that's kind of what
- 10:08Speaker 3: they kind of changed up towards the end of the year.
- 10:11Speaker 2: Skip was like, screw it, We're going with the freshman.
- 10:14Speaker 1: I know, Skip, I know. Skip was was very like
- 10:17Speaker 1: people questioned his mythology throughout throughout all of it, I
- 10:24Speaker 1: mean throughout regionals to super Regionals, to to getting to
- 10:29Speaker 1: the College World Series, even even up into the final game.
- 10:32Speaker 1: They questioned what he did and why he was doing it,
- 10:34Speaker 1: and it paid off. His decisions. Is his lineup changes?
- 10:40Speaker 3: Well, I think the pitching decision was huge, and he's
- 10:42Speaker 3: a pitching coach by trade. But I think what Oklahoma
- 10:45Speaker 3: started finally doing was hitting again. They went in that spell,
- 10:49Speaker 3: were they?
- 10:49Speaker 1: You know there was a base We finished fourteen years
- 10:52Speaker 1: in the SEC, and you know they went through spell.
- 10:55Speaker 1: But he became we became the team that beat us
- 10:58Speaker 1: in twenty twenty two. Yes, we became the ole Miss
- 11:01Speaker 1: Rebels of twenty twenty two, where hey, they shouldn't be
- 11:05Speaker 1: in there. Even though oh you was in the top
- 11:08Speaker 1: twenty five, it's actually the top ten for a number
- 11:11Speaker 1: of weeks.
- 11:12Speaker 3: Well, and on paper that team had better pitching. I
- 11:14Speaker 3: don't know by watching now if that's true, because there
- 11:18Speaker 3: wasn't a.
- 11:18Speaker 1: Lot of two team.
- 11:20Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, the t only twenty two team on paper
- 11:23Speaker 3: had a better pitching staff than this one. I mean
- 11:25Speaker 3: they were starting older guys, not freshman you know, true
- 11:30Speaker 3: or you know these freshman kids that are coming out.
- 11:32Speaker 1: But as it worked out, oh, you became the dark
- 11:36Speaker 1: horse to ride all the way through to the end,
- 11:39Speaker 1: and they they admite it to the finish line the
- 11:45Speaker 1: nineteen fifty one, nineteen ninety four, and two twenty six.
- 11:50Speaker 3: And I don't think it's uh. I don't think it's
- 11:54Speaker 3: one of those things that expectations are next year that
- 11:57Speaker 3: we're going to expect him to be back. No, but
- 12:00Speaker 3: they're talented enough to make that trip back, especially if
- 12:04Speaker 3: we couldn't.
- 12:04Speaker 1: Keep the kids and keep the freshman. And I know
- 12:07Speaker 1: there was a lot of support from other OU staff
- 12:10Speaker 1: and OU players from other teams football, basketball, those guys,
- 12:17Speaker 1: they were all there to enjoy the title run. I
- 12:23Speaker 1: don't know if you saw any of those guys. I
- 12:27Speaker 1: don't know if you saw any of those guys there.
- 12:29Speaker 1: If you saw Switzer, oh, I thought that was great.
- 12:31Speaker 3: I have that on my notes. To talk about the coaches.
- 12:34Speaker 3: I mean, Brent was there.
- 12:35Speaker 1: He gave it. There was a basketball kid there.
- 12:38Speaker 3: Brent was there, Switzer was there, Bransjack was there. Did
- 12:41Speaker 3: Bob make it okay? And obviously we talked about Switzer,
- 12:46Speaker 3: Corners was there. So coaches showed up in the early games.
- 12:51Speaker 1: Not.
- 12:51Speaker 3: I don't think they stayed the whole time for the championship,
- 12:53Speaker 3: but they were there in the early I don't remember
- 12:57Speaker 3: seeing her, but she could have been. I know Branshak
- 12:59Speaker 3: was there. Uh and I think the gymnastics coach was
- 13:02Speaker 3: there too. And why can't I ever think of his name?
- 13:07Speaker 3: Her name?
- 13:07Speaker 1: I don't remember. It's it's one of those hard.
- 13:11Speaker 2: And they're like, she's an all star, she's e her
- 13:12Speaker 2: own statue.
- 13:13Speaker 3: Yeah, but Jackson Willets, MVP of the tournament, had a
- 13:18Speaker 3: hell of a game as far as hitting. Father's an
- 13:22Speaker 3: assistant coach for them. He played in the MLB, and
- 13:26Speaker 3: I forgot if you listen, his brother, Eli is the
- 13:30Speaker 3: number one pick in the draft, and he was the third.
- 13:35Speaker 2: He was high school.
- 13:36Speaker 3: Eli Willitts third youngest player ever to be selected first overall.
- 13:40Speaker 2: Well and for the nationals fartinge now and.
- 13:44Speaker 1: Now, the the MLB has announced as we get into
- 13:48Speaker 1: draft talk for all the drafts, the MLB has announced
- 13:52Speaker 1: that their draft is changed. That official. Yes, okay, they're
- 14:00Speaker 1: gonna know, they're gonna they will no longer be taking
- 14:02Speaker 1: high school players.
- 14:03Speaker 3: And that's official because I thought the that was only
- 14:06Speaker 3: their I thought that was only their offer to the
- 14:11Speaker 3: players union. I don't think that's official, because don't they
- 14:15Speaker 3: both have to approve that there.
- 14:17Speaker 1: Was a money change. I mean it's coming up right now.
- 14:22Speaker 2: See, I think it's just proposed. This isn't It isn't
- 14:26Speaker 2: done yet.
- 14:27Speaker 1: Well, I mean when's the draft? The draft is coming
- 14:29Speaker 1: up in like a monk.
- 14:30Speaker 3: No, I don't think it involves this year's draft.
- 14:32Speaker 1: Oh so now next year?
- 14:34Speaker 3: Yeah, because see the bargain agreement's up for MLB.
- 14:37Speaker 1: College entry rule would change. You know, your college players
- 14:41Speaker 1: would become draft delivererble after sophomore year. Draft length would
- 14:45Speaker 1: be shortened from twenty rounds to twelve rounds. Because it
- 14:48Speaker 1: is a gauntlet. I don't know if you've ever seen,
- 14:52Speaker 1: if anybody's out there ever watched the full MLB draft.
- 14:56Speaker 1: It is a garblet when you be a nerd to
- 14:58Speaker 1: watch the full thing. Well, I think nobody's at home,
- 15:00Speaker 1: mostly on their phone. Go yeah, give me that guy.
- 15:03Speaker 3: Sounds to me, John and Scouting City's good.
- 15:06Speaker 1: Pick him.
- 15:06Speaker 3: I've never heard of her.
- 15:07Speaker 1: Yeah, I think can we just do a trade for
- 15:10Speaker 1: for Wakahatchie. I think you got three guys we want
- 15:13Speaker 1: over there. Uh, the financial caps would change, you know,
- 15:16Speaker 1: the total signing bonus pool would be have, dropping from
- 15:19Speaker 1: the current levels to a hard slotted two hundred mill baby,
- 15:26Speaker 1: and trading picks teams would be granted the illgibility to
- 15:29Speaker 1: trade all draft picks privilege currently restricted only two competitive
- 15:34Speaker 1: balanced choices. I never realized that what the trading picks
- 15:40Speaker 1: they're currently restricted to a competitive balance.
- 15:44Speaker 3: I've never understood that. It's well, it's and then extra pick.
- 15:48Speaker 1: You know when we've talked in the past about baseball
- 15:50Speaker 1: and how you can pay a guy thirty years later.
- 15:53Speaker 3: Yeah, contracts a contract, I guess. But what happens if
- 15:58Speaker 3: he passes, is there claws in there of it? His
- 16:00Speaker 3: family gets well may yeah, because if it's that he's dead,
- 16:05Speaker 3: they're done.
- 16:07Speaker 1: Bobby Benia day would be the only one that.
- 16:09Speaker 2: When coming up next week this weekend in July one.
- 16:12Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, Bobby Benia, I think it's the only one.
- 16:17Speaker 2: No, there's another one out there that's no.
- 16:19Speaker 1: No, He's the only one that would be old enough
- 16:21Speaker 1: because I think all the other guys, their moneys are
- 16:23Speaker 1: all done. I think Bobby Benia is the only guy
- 16:27Speaker 1: who's old enough that we could watch actually probably die
- 16:30Speaker 1: and be like, Okay.
- 16:30Speaker 3: Where do I got you? He's one of the old
- 16:33Speaker 3: old star clicks, right, because I mean you got everybody
- 16:35Speaker 3: else you've got. You know, all his money's being deferred,
- 16:39Speaker 3: you know, after he moves from l A, which tax
- 16:43Speaker 3: purposes is great.
- 16:44Speaker 1: And the draft lottery would be reduced from six to
- 16:47Speaker 1: four pigs. Oh, I got you so.
- 16:49Speaker 3: But that's only that is only a proposal because they're
- 16:55Speaker 3: under negotiation.
- 16:56Speaker 1: It's kind of like and MLB players would probably take
- 16:59Speaker 1: it because that means more money. Now.
- 17:03Speaker 3: Well, in you in this competition, you would think it
- 17:05Speaker 3: would possibly and you would also think.
- 17:07Speaker 1: And the college baseball would be chomping at the bet,
- 17:11Speaker 1: going hey, yeah, come on now we can Now we
- 17:12Speaker 1: can actually go out get these kids, have them for
- 17:15Speaker 1: at least two years, and then be like done. Yeah.
- 17:19Speaker 3: I wonder if there was going to be an age
- 17:20Speaker 3: rule on that, kind of like what we're going to
- 17:22Speaker 3: talk about here. I think that was part of the
- 17:25Speaker 3: SOPHO because I didn't see it, well yeah, but I
- 17:26Speaker 3: didn't see it like an age as far as your years.
- 17:30Speaker 2: You know, what if you're an older freshman, you know.
- 17:32Speaker 1: But that's what I'm saying I think that's part of
- 17:35Speaker 1: It's like the Tommy Harris Tommy Harris deal, well.
- 17:38Speaker 2: Talking about drafts.
- 17:39Speaker 1: You remember when he goes or when he went in
- 17:41Speaker 1: nineteen eighteen, he wasn't supposed to.
- 17:43Speaker 3: Yes, yes, So we're going to talk. We'll move on,
- 17:47Speaker 3: will segue actually into a new proposal by the NCAA
- 17:51Speaker 3: Division one Cabinet. We're talking about college eligibility. NCAA Division
- 17:56Speaker 3: one Cabinet Nastley proved a new five for five age
- 17:58Speaker 3: based eligible eligible ability model.
- 18:01Speaker 1: That's for college.
- 18:02Speaker 3: Yeah, everybody in college, and it's you get five years
- 18:06Speaker 3: over five seasons.
- 18:07Speaker 1: That's it. That's it.
- 18:11Speaker 3: Which it's granted five seasons competition to five year window
- 18:15Speaker 3: that starts fun.
- 18:16Speaker 1: Yeah, I heard about.
- 18:17Speaker 3: That starts at your enrollment or academic year after turning nineteen.
- 18:22Speaker 3: Limited extensions play granted for active duty, military, maternity leave,
- 18:26Speaker 3: and official religious missions. Now male maternity leave though, I wonder,
- 18:31Speaker 3: because that's the males. That's a thing now, Yeah, I
- 18:34Speaker 3: wonder if that's going.
- 18:36Speaker 2: So we're talking about men's and women.
- 18:38Speaker 1: Start slinging babies. If you don't want to play that season, guys.
- 18:43Speaker 3: Four seasons of competition within a ten semester enrollment are.
- 18:46Speaker 1: We know NBA players and NFL players love slinging babies
- 18:49Speaker 1: anyways with different people. I mean, how many how many?
- 18:53Speaker 1: How many babies do Edwards and James have? Oh yeah, yeah,
- 18:57Speaker 1: a lot of different baby mama. I think Philip Rivers
- 19:01Speaker 1: is the only one with that many kids with the same.
- 19:08Speaker 3: So that's kind of the college change it proposal. Nothing
- 19:14Speaker 3: nothing yet, and it could be according to some you're right,
- 19:19Speaker 3: that could be good boom for college baseball, which, if
- 19:23Speaker 3: you got to think about college sports as a whole,
- 19:26Speaker 3: is bigger than it's ever been. I think softball is
- 19:27Speaker 3: the most popular. College baseball is pretty popular, especially in
- 19:30Speaker 3: the South. And that's what a lot of people have
- 19:32Speaker 3: been talking about. Why is it the Big ten who's
- 19:34Speaker 3: invested so much money? Look at football, They've won so
- 19:36Speaker 3: many national championships in football over the last five, six,
- 19:40Speaker 3: seven years, especially once neil you get to pay to play,
- 19:43Speaker 3: They've won a majority of those championships. They don't invest
- 19:48Speaker 3: in baseball. And so could you imagine if all I
- 19:51Speaker 3: mean most don't, Okay, but can you imagine if Nebraska consistently.
- 19:59Speaker 1: High state hold on Nebraska used to consistently before they
- 20:03Speaker 1: left for the Big Ten.
- 20:04Speaker 3: But I'm saying show up when they were in the
- 20:06Speaker 3: Big twelve. All those mid mid mid Western, mid South, Midwest,
- 20:12Speaker 3: is what I was trying to say, all those mid directions.
- 20:15Speaker 1: But no, everybody, if you wonder why he said mid
- 20:18Speaker 1: sound that that's something totally difference.
- 20:20Speaker 3: Meanings meaning for the Big Ten.
- 20:22Speaker 1: That's the lost for those wrestling fans.
- 20:24Speaker 3: That's the proximity to Omaha would just be bringing even
- 20:27Speaker 3: more fans, you know, it would be nuts. But if
- 20:29Speaker 3: those teams, Nebraska does not belong in the Big Ten.
- 20:33Speaker 3: Five out of eight teams that made the turn. The
- 20:36Speaker 3: World Series.
- 20:37Speaker 1: Always been I know, but Nebraska has always been a
- 20:40Speaker 1: really good baseball team.
- 20:42Speaker 3: And look at some SEC teams that are generally pretty
- 20:45Speaker 3: good and it didn't make it.
- 20:47Speaker 1: And if you look Vanderbilt, if you look at if
- 20:51Speaker 1: you look at who made it this year, you have
- 20:54Speaker 1: West Virginia, who's a Big twelve, Kansas Big twelve, Nebraska
- 20:58Speaker 1: x Big twelve, Texas, Oklahoma x Big twelve. So that's five.
- 21:03Speaker 1: There's five there that would have been for the Big
- 21:05Speaker 1: twelve had they all stayed in the Big twelve.
- 21:07Speaker 3: Yeah, well you're talking about Nebraskt didn't make they made
- 21:10Speaker 3: the softball they didn't make. No, they made the tournament, Yes,
- 21:15Speaker 3: the World Series because five out of eight was SEC.
- 21:19Speaker 2: But yes, you're talking about did.
- 21:21Speaker 1: They and they made?
- 21:22Speaker 3: Did they make a regional?
- 21:23Speaker 1: They did? Didn't they?
- 21:24Speaker 2: They just lost?
- 21:26Speaker 1: So I had all that pulled. I'm not pulling that
- 21:28Speaker 1: all back down. That's that's so hard.
- 21:29Speaker 2: To So there's your your college proposal there.
- 21:34Speaker 3: So let's talk a little bit about big news also happening,
- 21:37Speaker 3: and we'll pull up the report here. I don't know
- 21:40Speaker 3: what the NF the sores be deal. Let's talk about
- 21:42Speaker 3: Brandon Soresby. Now we have in the most respectful way
- 21:50Speaker 3: I think I do.
- 21:52Speaker 2: As we can be. That's had very.
- 21:59Speaker 3: Right of the Gates said if this kid has a problem,
- 22:02Speaker 3: it's a bad deal and he needs help.
- 22:04Speaker 1: People wondered what the NFL would say.
- 22:06Speaker 3: But however, that doesn't excuse your The NFL is like
- 22:11Speaker 3: a private country club. It's not a right to be there.
- 22:16Speaker 3: It's a privilege to be allows and Jews. That's just
- 22:20Speaker 3: master's until reasons. But no, so they and the NFL
- 22:28Speaker 3: has gotten better about that too, not necessarily about playing,
- 22:30Speaker 3: but coaching and involved in upper management, not office, in
- 22:34Speaker 3: the office and referee. So you you take it for that,
- 22:40Speaker 3: and you think, well, you got a problem. Okay, And
- 22:41Speaker 3: the what is the number one thing we've talked about
- 22:43Speaker 3: this The number one thing that NFL fears is their games.
- 22:47Speaker 2: To be fixed because fixed games.
- 22:52Speaker 3: If wrestling wasn't fixed, they'd have more fans. It's just
- 22:56Speaker 3: the way it is. No, but I'm saying, but it's
- 22:59Speaker 3: a show. It's entertainment.
- 23:00Speaker 1: It is it's a it's a drama. It's a sports drama,
- 23:03Speaker 1: sports it's yes, it's it's like that's that's that's what
- 23:08Speaker 1: he always said. So Vincent Man always said, you know,
- 23:11Speaker 1: I don't own a wrestling company. I own a sports
- 23:13Speaker 1: entertainment company.
- 23:14Speaker 3: Yes, and that's fair and and people love it. However,
- 23:19Speaker 3: you can't tell me that some people don't watch it
- 23:22Speaker 3: because it's made up. They can't buy into that because
- 23:27Speaker 3: and another thing, Sean is gambling.
- 23:28Speaker 1: Now that's my grandmother's poor old soul. She she died
- 23:34Speaker 1: thinking it was all real. She would have been that
- 23:39Speaker 1: old lady that stabbed what who was it, new Jack
- 23:42Speaker 1: or who got stabbed with the knitting needle, That old
- 23:46Speaker 1: lady she just just did not like it.
- 23:48Speaker 3: So I think that when you talk about being fixed,
- 23:51Speaker 3: that's the NFL's biggest fear, because for one, it shuts
- 23:54Speaker 3: the gambling part down that gives them.
- 23:57Speaker 1: I'm gonna go, I'm gonna go this way. The n
- 23:59Speaker 1: c double has repeatedly been neutered because they are more
- 24:04Speaker 1: of a state to state to state to state, and
- 24:08Speaker 1: and their and their organization is so large and encompassing.
- 24:13Speaker 1: They set down by laws for every sport. They set
- 24:16Speaker 1: down all these rules for every sport. Yet recently well,
- 24:23Speaker 1: but but recently, and they have tried, and I would
- 24:26Speaker 1: say since since that nineteen eighty three incident where they
- 24:29Speaker 1: death penaltied SMU. They were like, oh that was bad.
- 24:34Speaker 1: So they've been trying. But they've been and they've been
- 24:36Speaker 1: trying to not do that. They've been trying to not
- 24:39Speaker 1: do that. But recently when NIL came in and all that,
- 24:45Speaker 1: now it's all about the money, and the more money,
- 24:51Speaker 1: better players, the better players, the more chance you have
- 24:53Speaker 1: of a national title. And every state is looking for
- 24:58Speaker 1: those judges that will allow those kids to play no
- 25:01Speaker 1: matter what where's in the NFL. They've already been through litigation,
- 25:07Speaker 1: they've already been through Congress and the Senate and the
- 25:10Speaker 1: House and all that. They have teeth.
- 25:14Speaker 2: Well, they are their own thing, but yeah.
- 25:16Speaker 1: Exactly exactly. Remember they have been sued numerous times.
- 25:21Speaker 3: Sure, but every owner hires a commissioner and attorneys because
- 25:24Speaker 3: they're all a conglomerate. They're signed on for that. Like
- 25:26Speaker 3: I said, it's like a country club.
- 25:29Speaker 1: And the difference, so the difference is now is that
- 25:34Speaker 1: you're in a public school and you're getting you can't
- 25:37Speaker 1: touch the you can't touch the student. There's no consequences,
- 25:40Speaker 1: whereas in the NFL there's consequences. You're in private school.
- 25:45Speaker 3: About that well, and I think that collective bargaining is
- 25:49Speaker 3: something that's really being thrown out on the table by
- 25:51Speaker 3: a lot of these big wigs. They especially that are
- 25:53Speaker 3: former sports guys, sports sports guys.
- 25:55Speaker 1: That are in higher office now and they're try and
- 25:58Speaker 1: they are trying to get that done for the saying.
- 26:01Speaker 2: Hey, well yeah, because they would become employees.
- 26:04Speaker 1: Right now, what are they considered? I mean, they're they're
- 26:06Speaker 1: no longer considered amateur athlete. Yeah, no, no, no, no,
- 26:09Speaker 1: They're they're like contracted athletes. They're contracted.
- 26:13Speaker 3: Yeah, it's kind of what that is, it's like you
- 26:14Speaker 3: get a ten ninety nine at any year.
- 26:16Speaker 1: Yeah, but here's the thing. If I tell you, if
- 26:20Speaker 1: I tell you can't play, then you can't play.
- 26:23Speaker 2: But see no, don't go into the court.
- 26:25Speaker 3: But the funny thing is most contracted players don't have
- 26:28Speaker 3: contracts for X amount of years.
- 26:30Speaker 1: You know what, one year. It's always like one year.
- 26:32Speaker 3: But some kids are getting more than a year.
- 26:34Speaker 1: Well, well, mensa did remember he had to pay money
- 26:37Speaker 1: back he had duke, So they are soresby doesn't have
- 26:42Speaker 1: to pay this money back.
- 26:43Speaker 3: I've already I have not seen anything on that.
- 26:47Speaker 1: Yeah, they apparently Campbell said you don't have to pay
- 26:49Speaker 1: the money back, just go, just just take your eyes
- 26:51Speaker 1: off of us.
- 26:52Speaker 3: Well, is that what happened?
- 26:53Speaker 1: Do you think? Well, sudden, Yeah, I was. I read
- 26:56Speaker 1: an article.
- 26:57Speaker 2: Didn't really say it.
- 26:59Speaker 1: Campbell well ahead of Campbell's ahead of that everything committee.
- 27:05Speaker 2: And he's the donor, and he's the head guy.
- 27:08Speaker 1: In the fact and the.
- 27:09Speaker 4: Fact that he was on ou sideline for their summer camps,
- 27:15Speaker 4: his son was there. I was just kidding, what's going
- 27:18Speaker 4: to happen when his sun decides to go to you?
- 27:20Speaker 4: Because he enjoyed that more than.
- 27:23Speaker 3: He's not because daddy will cut him off.
- 27:25Speaker 1: Daddy won't cut him off. No more allowance, no more.
- 27:28Speaker 1: I shaid, know you players in my house.
- 27:31Speaker 3: But so you're right, so collective Barty would probably be
- 27:33Speaker 3: better to make him contract. Well, then there's concern about,
- 27:36Speaker 3: well they unionized like baseball, then have a because baseball
- 27:40Speaker 3: is a little goofy too, but there you know what's funning.
- 27:43Speaker 3: But they have a stronger union.
- 27:45Speaker 1: A lot of this all comes down to the fact
- 27:46Speaker 1: of EA and college football now in college football game,
- 27:53Speaker 1: and it really did.
- 27:54Speaker 3: Now you know what it really comes down to that
- 27:57Speaker 3: was that was the court deal. But what it really
- 28:00Speaker 3: come down was all these old time athletic directors going
- 28:03Speaker 3: but by god, we ain't paying them shit. If you
- 28:07Speaker 3: would to set if the NCAA would have got together
- 28:10Speaker 3: right off the bat and said, all right players before
- 28:12Speaker 3: any of these lawsuits, everybody gets ten thousand a years.
- 28:15Speaker 3: And do you remember we started ten thousand a year
- 28:17Speaker 3: and in the school because.
- 28:17Speaker 1: We're almost of season five and we started this podcast
- 28:20Speaker 1: before nil hit.
- 28:22Speaker 3: Sorry, has it really been that then?
- 28:26Speaker 1: That started? Yeah? Wow, yeah, we started this right.
- 28:30Speaker 3: Actually reminding about bitching about Texas will become the nest
- 28:34Speaker 3: thing ever.
- 28:34Speaker 1: Yeah, and I think we were shooting out of Dackson's room.
- 28:38Speaker 1: I think we were doing this in Daxton's room. But
- 28:41Speaker 1: I said that, you know, they are going to have
- 28:42Speaker 1: to set a money level, a money limit, and you
- 28:46Speaker 1: were like, no, no, no, it'll all be five And
- 28:49Speaker 1: what I'm like, No, they're going to have to set
- 28:50Speaker 1: a money The guy ever said it would be I
- 28:52Speaker 1: ever gonna have to I was very staunched about them
- 28:54Speaker 1: setting a money limit, a pay limit limit.
- 28:57Speaker 3: Well, I didn't think. I didn't think per player. I
- 28:59Speaker 3: thought that they should do more like a salary cap.
- 29:02Speaker 3: And I think that's still how they shout.
- 29:03Speaker 1: Yeah, and I think that's what they're proposing. But they're
- 29:05Speaker 1: proposing it for every sport. I don't like that at all.
- 29:09Speaker 3: Well, okay, back at I'm trying to think, hold on,
- 29:14Speaker 3: but would it be different, like, would would you base
- 29:17Speaker 3: it on amount of players?
- 29:19Speaker 2: Because I mean, obviously football needs to be higher. But
- 29:22Speaker 2: let me get this.
- 29:23Speaker 3: If you got volleyball, Let's say you get a really
- 29:25Speaker 3: high number and you pay, you pay the good quarterbacks
- 29:29Speaker 3: girlfriend of the highest money in volleyball, and she just
- 29:33Speaker 3: promise slide it over to boyfriend because he has made
- 29:36Speaker 3: cheaper I mean, you see that ship go down next well,
- 29:39Speaker 3: and I think.
- 29:40Speaker 1: That they're trying to style me that as excuse me.
- 29:45Speaker 3: Yeah, but then what does it go back to them cheating?
- 29:49Speaker 3: There's no penalty because the NCAA is so weak.
- 29:51Speaker 1: But that's this is why we need that litigation to pass.
- 29:54Speaker 1: But at the same time, the Big ten and the
- 29:56Speaker 1: sec are saying, hey, you need to change some wording
- 29:59Speaker 1: in here. You need to make some wording changes, and
- 30:03Speaker 1: then we'll be behind it.
- 30:04Speaker 3: Well, nobody's gonna, yeah, that's a problem. Not everybody's generally
- 30:06Speaker 3: gonna be on the board for the same one.
- 30:08Speaker 1: Then it becomes that just comes down the interpretation of
- 30:10Speaker 1: the law.
- 30:11Speaker 3: And then all you get right back to the judges going, well,
- 30:14Speaker 3: you're gonna relieve him of the right right, Well, how's
- 30:19Speaker 3: the NBA.
- 30:20Speaker 2: How does the NFL get away fift salary caps?
- 30:22Speaker 3: Why can't they do it?
- 30:23Speaker 1: Exactly? I mean it needs to be ran like a
- 30:26Speaker 1: professional sport, that's exactly, and have them be n c
- 30:30Speaker 1: double A needs to run them all as.
- 30:32Speaker 3: Now, hold on, hold on, what about pensions and retirement?
- 30:38Speaker 1: Health care? You do have health care, you have you
- 30:41Speaker 1: have health care through the universe.
- 30:42Speaker 3: You have it as as as the player. That is correct,
- 30:47Speaker 3: that's all you need. That's that's But once they're gone,
- 30:51Speaker 3: they have nothing. Okay, well they're going to get their
- 30:53Speaker 3: own that's onto them. But that's not you're an adult years.
- 30:58Speaker 3: There's a pension plan. I mean email, there's pension.
- 31:01Speaker 1: Okay, you want these kids to stay amateur athletes, then yeah,
- 31:04Speaker 1: that's just it. You get paid while you're there. You're
- 31:07Speaker 1: an adult. Now you've got a job, a real job.
- 31:11Speaker 1: That's where you get all that.
- 31:12Speaker 3: I'm just I was telling you what, that's where you're
- 31:14Speaker 3: gonna get all that.
- 31:15Speaker 1: Well, I know, but it doesn't It shouldn't matter. I agree.
- 31:18Speaker 3: I totally agree. It shouldn't matter. But that's the things
- 31:20Speaker 3: they're going to be asked. Well, if we got to
- 31:22Speaker 3: do it their way, then do we get there?
- 31:24Speaker 1: If you're still a contracted worker, a contracted labor you
- 31:28Speaker 1: don't get all that.
- 31:29Speaker 3: I get it, I get it, but you still get
- 31:30Speaker 3: the healthcare and taken care of.
- 31:32Speaker 1: That's right. I'm not worried about healthcare while you're working there.
- 31:36Speaker 3: But some contract laborers don't get that. So that's why
- 31:39Speaker 3: it's different.
- 31:39Speaker 1: It's only the people who are coming to take her jobs.
- 31:48Speaker 3: So so so sores beat us. His attorney, Jeffrey Kessler,
- 31:56Speaker 3: sounds like a big idiot.
- 31:57Speaker 1: Yeah, we got off the whole fact that you're talking
- 32:00Speaker 1: about that. So yeah.
- 32:01Speaker 3: So the NFL just I'm gonna read a few tidbits
- 32:05Speaker 3: with their response. The league has not conducted such a
- 32:08Speaker 3: draft for several years, and prior to your submission, league
- 32:11Speaker 3: had no plans to do so this year as no
- 32:13Speaker 3: other players had sought entry. Now I think Sean you
- 32:16Speaker 3: said the last one was nineteen.
- 32:17Speaker 1: Yeah, okay, what was that that was? I forgot who
- 32:21Speaker 1: was it? Said?
- 32:21Speaker 3: Your petition filed three business days before the deadline without
- 32:25Speaker 3: any supporting information or documentation, and only I love this
- 32:30Speaker 3: signe after abandoning your recent litigation efforts to avoid INCAA sanctions.
- 32:36Speaker 3: Does not provide a basis for the league to order
- 32:38Speaker 3: those places. Petition are too significant and too closely tied
- 32:44Speaker 3: to the league score digger interests to permit meaningful review
- 32:48Speaker 3: within the timeline presented. Aka bitch, you submitted it last minute.
- 32:53Speaker 3: You just scribbled down, Hey, I'd like to be in
- 32:56Speaker 3: the draft, and you didn't give any reason why you
- 32:59Speaker 3: should and by the way.
- 33:01Speaker 1: The twenty nineteen supplemental draft, which did take place on
- 33:05Speaker 1: July tenth, which means that, yeah, it was. He was
- 33:07Speaker 1: very close. Do you see any of these guys that
- 33:11Speaker 1: never heard of hers? Jalen Thompson was the only one
- 33:13Speaker 1: that I know of. Marcus Simms was remember him. I
- 33:17Speaker 1: remember him from from playing West Virginia. Yes, right, Shannheim, Shyheim, Cullen.
- 33:24Speaker 1: I have no idea, Devin ware Clarington and Bryan Perry, no,
- 33:32Speaker 1: no idea, but they were. They were all involved with it.
- 33:34Speaker 1: But that means you've got five guys that are involved
- 33:36Speaker 1: in this.
- 33:37Speaker 3: So a temporary then, yeah, so no one's asked this
- 33:40Speaker 3: year temporary uh injunction had been given UH obviously Soresby
- 33:47Speaker 3: after court records showing that Soorsby had acknowledged making thousands
- 33:50Speaker 3: of bets worth at least ninety thousand while a student
- 33:52Speaker 3: athlete Indiana Cincinnati and Texas Tech and then a Tampa
- 33:56Speaker 3: production on June eighth, was allowed to serve just a
- 33:59Speaker 3: two game suspension. That was the judge that we all dropped,
- 34:02Speaker 3: and then Soresby eventually dropped his lawsuit with the intention
- 34:07Speaker 3: of entering the draft, so.
- 34:11Speaker 1: The league.
- 34:12Speaker 3: The league also said we we do not have the
- 34:14Speaker 3: complete record of the NCAA investigation, and you didn't provide
- 34:19Speaker 3: any materials in your petition about what makes you okay,
- 34:24Speaker 3: They didn't say that. I'm saying that, no, no, you
- 34:27Speaker 3: knowingly repeated engage in significant violations of NCAA rules design
- 34:30Speaker 3: preserved integrity, you can do.
- 34:33Speaker 1: Some notable supplemental draft.
- 34:35Speaker 3: Kids and then uh and then also also reports that
- 34:40Speaker 3: you might veilate my violated state criminal So none of
- 34:44Speaker 3: this was mentioned. I just want in so let me
- 34:48Speaker 3: ask you this is how does draft eligibility I mean words, well,
- 34:59Speaker 3: I'm trying to kind of word it, because how do
- 35:01Speaker 3: you become eligible for a draft?
- 35:04Speaker 2: Do you have to submit application?
- 35:07Speaker 1: An application? So I wonder even next year for draft
- 35:10Speaker 1: eligibility if he does that?
- 35:12Speaker 2: Can't Yeah he can.
- 35:13Speaker 3: Next year, but I mean, do you think they're gonna
- 35:14Speaker 3: allow it?
- 35:15Speaker 1: Well, that's that's the that's the overall question. He can
- 35:19Speaker 1: submit it and he can go in the draft, but
- 35:22Speaker 1: what the league will do to him is another story.
- 35:27Speaker 1: I don't think they let him in. But you know,
- 35:30Speaker 1: right now he's got the option and can go play
- 35:31Speaker 1: in the CFL. Because they're going on.
- 35:33Speaker 2: Right now, are they gonna let them in?
- 35:34Speaker 1: Because I don't know. I can't tell you what's gonna happen.
- 35:38Speaker 1: I can't tell you what each league is gonna do.
- 35:40Speaker 1: And for what he had he had done, as Kenny
- 35:42Speaker 1: would say, well, he had done, but he had done.
- 35:47Speaker 1: I know that he can be eligible. He can't play
- 35:51Speaker 1: if he's allowed, and he can submit for the draft
- 35:56Speaker 1: for next year. He can stay at the top of
- 35:59Speaker 1: his game and go play CFL right now because they
- 36:02Speaker 1: play in the summer, if they allow, if they allow him,
- 36:06Speaker 1: I don't know. CFL has different bargaining blah blah blah
- 36:11Speaker 1: than the NFL, so they're a lout. And then he
- 36:16Speaker 1: can play in the UFL if he wants to do that.
- 36:20Speaker 1: A lot of beding going on there, no lot a
- 36:22Speaker 1: betting going on there.
- 36:25Speaker 2: All right, go ahead, he would say.
- 36:28Speaker 3: And you don't have to go way back now because.
- 36:30Speaker 1: I don't know nineteen eighty five Bernie Cozar, but I
- 36:32Speaker 1: think that was it.
- 36:33Speaker 2: Yeah, And I because I think he.
- 36:35Speaker 1: And Roosevelt Snipes, who was a deep cut out of
- 36:39Speaker 1: Florida State. I don't know if you remember this kid.
- 36:42Speaker 1: He became academically ineligible and so he had petitioned there.
- 36:46Speaker 1: Very good running back, just never a big name.
- 36:48Speaker 2: Well, and Bernie I think graduated early and wasn't old.
- 36:52Speaker 1: There's some weird Yeah, graduated after his junior year. That's
- 36:56Speaker 1: what it was.
- 36:57Speaker 3: Okay, So, yes, so you didn't complete and it was
- 37:00Speaker 3: four years, wasn't it? Or well he yeah, there's different rules.
- 37:05Speaker 1: Brian Bosworth, he had been dismissed from Oklahoma University of Oklahoma. Well,
- 37:12Speaker 1: I think we all know why. Charles Crawford in nineteen
- 37:15Speaker 1: eighty six, running back for Oklahoma State, ended up going
- 37:18Speaker 1: to the Eagles. He was he had missed his senior
- 37:22Speaker 1: year to injury.
- 37:24Speaker 2: Yeah, that was when Red Shirts were weird and they
- 37:26Speaker 2: did him late.
- 37:27Speaker 1: Chris Carter wide receiver, came out of Ohio State force. Yeah,
- 37:35Speaker 1: what do they had? Steve Walsh?
- 37:36Speaker 2: What do were they had to do that?
- 37:38Speaker 1: Those Steve Walsh out of Miami. Tim rosen Beck, which
- 37:43Speaker 1: I don't know if you remember that guy. I h
- 37:46Speaker 1: he and he played, Uh I want to say tried
- 37:49Speaker 1: out for I'm gonna say he tried out for the
- 37:52Speaker 1: Chicago Bears as well. Is that rosenbacker Rosenthorne? Bobby Humphrey
- 37:59Speaker 1: running back out of Alabama.
- 38:01Speaker 2: Give us no notes on him? Yeah, no notes for him.
- 38:05Speaker 1: Rob Moore wide receiver for the Jets in nineteen ninety.
- 38:09Speaker 3: So it looks like a lot of these guys are
- 38:11Speaker 3: either had some trouble or didn't didn't declare in time.
- 38:15Speaker 2: And then come back.
- 38:16Speaker 1: There's Jamaal Williams out of Oklahoma State. He went to Sandy.
- 38:22Speaker 1: A lot of Oklahoma State guys go to San Diego.
- 38:24Speaker 1: I don't know if you've ever noticed that.
- 38:26Speaker 3: Oh yeah, you had Neil Neil, Yeah, no, one of
- 38:31Speaker 3: the best defensive players of all the time.
- 38:34Speaker 1: So now we get into the more I can I
- 38:38Speaker 1: think of Neil Charles o'nil. But then you get into
- 38:43Speaker 1: the modern the mad Brooks would probably be the biggest
- 38:47Speaker 1: name that in our in recent time because he was
- 38:51Speaker 1: he was dismissed from Virginia. So we get down here, Oh,
- 38:56Speaker 1: Terrell Prior, Josh Gordon, Remember those two Josh Gordon dismissed
- 39:02Speaker 1: for filled marijuana test. All they had to do was
- 39:04Speaker 1: let Josh Gordon smoke weed. That kid would have been good.
- 39:06Speaker 1: Leslie O'Neill, Leslie, that kid would have been fine. Torell
- 39:10Speaker 1: Prior we already know what happened to that guy? And uh,
- 39:14Speaker 1: he just got rested again, didn't he?
- 39:16Speaker 3: I don't know speed he was doing everything that was
- 39:18Speaker 3: legal now, but.
- 39:21Speaker 1: Yeah, Jalen Thompson is the close is the safety from
- 39:24Speaker 1: last year.
- 39:27Speaker 3: It's funny you showed that whole draft, but it only
- 39:30Speaker 3: showed a couple of them, or only showed him from
- 39:33Speaker 3: that draft, you know what I mean.
- 39:34Speaker 2: It's weird they did that.
- 39:35Speaker 3: Maybe the other ones just anything rush Hey.
- 39:39Speaker 1: And ladies rock super Rod Stewart in nineteen seventy nine
- 39:43Speaker 1: running back from Kentucky with six under the Buffalo Bill.
- 39:47Speaker 1: Maggie May didn't get some money that year, did you, bitch?
- 39:53Speaker 2: Have I told you lately?
- 39:56Speaker 1: Wake Maggie? I think I got something to this.
- 40:01Speaker 3: All right, all right, moving on, what do you want
- 40:04Speaker 3: to talk about?
- 40:05Speaker 1: Let's go ahead. I know we're going to get into
- 40:07Speaker 1: the draft. Let's go ahead and congratulate, uh, the NBA champions,
- 40:10Speaker 1: the Detroit Knickerbockers. Detroit, by the way, the knicker, I said,
- 40:18Speaker 1: the Detroit Knickerbockers. Yes, we're having a frame. She right now,
- 40:21Speaker 1: I don't know what's going on. So the New York
- 40:25Speaker 1: Knickerbockers took down, they cry and webs uh three to two.
- 40:30Speaker 1: They made it five games. We had it called in six, one,
- 40:35Speaker 1: four to one. You and I you and I know
- 40:38Speaker 1: you and I called it in six. They only took
- 40:40Speaker 1: one game. Yes, we had called it in six for
- 40:43Speaker 1: the Knickerbockers, and they took it in five. Whereas we
- 40:47Speaker 1: had games.
- 40:48Speaker 2: Which we picked at that, did we not? We did
- 40:50Speaker 2: six the win?
- 40:53Speaker 1: Yeah, they they took it in five. I don't know
- 40:56Speaker 1: that we actually picked a winner. I think I think
- 40:58Speaker 1: I took Carolina.
- 41:01Speaker 2: For the took Vega Predators. We did pick winners.
- 41:06Speaker 1: The National Predators didn't play.
- 41:08Speaker 2: Not Nashville, Vegas. I said Vegas at first.
- 41:10Speaker 1: Yeah, but Carolina, Carolina won because we had it on
- 41:13Speaker 1: the board in six, right, Carolina won in six, and
- 41:16Speaker 1: I believe.
- 41:17Speaker 2: We picked after Vegas tied it.
- 41:19Speaker 1: It was like we picked that in seven. Yeah, So
- 41:22Speaker 1: that's we were getting off for both.
- 41:26Speaker 2: You pick the winner, I touch a winner.
- 41:27Speaker 3: So yeah, no, I congratulations, a great championship, first one
- 41:32Speaker 3: since what was it seventy three three?
- 41:36Speaker 1: We've already got into that argument.
- 41:37Speaker 3: Which was great. I mean good for the fans too.
- 41:39Speaker 3: They deserved it. And you know when Nick's basketball. It's good,
- 41:44Speaker 3: it is fun. Do you remember that the Night ninety
- 41:48Speaker 3: was a blast with Patrick Ewing and teams that was
- 41:52Speaker 3: that was basketball's greatest I say that the even though
- 41:55Speaker 3: I couldn't stand Jordan, but you know, because he won
- 41:57Speaker 3: every fucking thing.
- 41:59Speaker 1: But I'm said that the nineties were the last time
- 42:03Speaker 1: that basketball was good. Well and as then you got in,
- 42:07Speaker 1: you got you got in the floppy floppy.
- 42:10Speaker 3: Okay, so they're trying, they're trying to change. I think
- 42:13Speaker 3: the one thing that makes basketball back a couple of things.
- 42:16Speaker 3: If we're gonna talk a little bit about basketball real quick, uh,
- 42:18Speaker 3: and then you want to we can go into the draft.
- 42:20Speaker 3: One of the things that I know you really need
- 42:22Speaker 3: to fix is I think the challenges giving the coaches
- 42:27Speaker 3: are okay, I just think they're very dramatic. You know
- 42:31Speaker 3: that the goes over and then he's got to announce it,
- 42:34Speaker 3: and then you look at the strike zone meet in
- 42:37Speaker 3: baseball what they're doing, and the challenge is fast, and
- 42:41Speaker 3: then it makes it fun. It's like the crowd goes wow,
- 42:44Speaker 3: you know, it's kind of an exciting and then with
- 42:46Speaker 3: this guy, you let me look at the camera, let
- 42:51Speaker 3: me look at the camera. You know, why don't you
- 42:52Speaker 3: just have someone in New York that call? And it's
- 42:56Speaker 3: what they're doing is they're trying to make the refs
- 42:59Speaker 3: still a part of it, when in reality mistakes happen.
- 43:03Speaker 3: So either let the mistakes go or have some other something.
- 43:09Speaker 3: You know, camera look at that, if the computer look
- 43:11Speaker 3: at that and like he's out, and then just say hey,
- 43:14Speaker 3: camera says, or the computer says, you're out, moving on,
- 43:17Speaker 3: moving on, not review the tape, look at it fifty
- 43:20Speaker 3: different fucking angles to make it right, because you've already
- 43:22Speaker 3: made the call once. One thing I did like about
- 43:25Speaker 3: college baseball it's way too long.
- 43:29Speaker 1: And I get it quit smooth for me. But no,
- 43:32Speaker 1: it's long.
- 43:32Speaker 3: But they don't make They don't make a lot of
- 43:35Speaker 3: they don't get a lot of ref involvement.
- 43:37Speaker 1: You know what I mean. I had, I had no.
- 43:38Speaker 1: I had no problem with it.
- 43:39Speaker 2: No, it's I mean, it's long.
- 43:41Speaker 1: I didn't care. I didn't care about the ref involvement.
- 43:43Speaker 3: I had no, no, But they don't have it. That's
- 43:45Speaker 3: what's great, That's what I'm saying. Not every ball. I mean,
- 43:48Speaker 3: when that ref goes, it's fair, Not like.
- 43:50Speaker 1: Coaches go to the damn. You know coaches did have
- 43:53Speaker 1: two challenges.
- 43:54Speaker 3: Yeah, but it never became a thing. But you don't
- 43:56Speaker 3: you in it? What is the league that if you
- 43:59Speaker 3: challenge thatthing lose? Isn't it hockey? If you make a challenge,
- 44:01Speaker 3: don't you have to set a player or something? What
- 44:03Speaker 3: is that weird challenge? What sport has the I'll find
- 44:06Speaker 3: that out because it's you never see challenges in hockey.
- 44:09Speaker 3: I think it's hockey. But there's a lot of re
- 44:13Speaker 3: involvement or up involvement. I should call them in and huh,
- 44:18Speaker 3: and not a lot of was that in or was
- 44:21Speaker 3: that out? Or was that fair? Or was that safe?
- 44:22Speaker 3: They made the call and they move on, you know,
- 44:27Speaker 3: and you're right they use this too wisely because what
- 44:29Speaker 3: you're doing is you're saving that ship for a really
- 44:33Speaker 3: tag out out or or a home play call.
- 44:38Speaker 2: You know, you want to say that.
- 44:38Speaker 3: You don't want to blow it in the first inning
- 44:40Speaker 3: on did he make second base when we're tied? You know,
- 44:45Speaker 3: and it was my first out, So I get that,
- 44:48Speaker 3: So congratulations to the next time. We can move on
- 44:50Speaker 3: a little bit. While Sean's working on that, we'll talk
- 44:52Speaker 3: about the I'm.
- 44:53Speaker 1: Working on dropping there's a lot being eaten up for
- 44:57Speaker 1: some reason.
- 44:59Speaker 3: NBA Draft happened first roun last night. We're getting ready
- 45:02Speaker 3: to kick off second round tonight. A lot of shit
- 45:05Speaker 3: be So what we've got is order number one. And
- 45:11Speaker 3: look who the bands that takes number one. Obviously uh
- 45:15Speaker 3: the superstar uh from b y U who carried that
- 45:20Speaker 3: team practice and that team was a good team. Now,
- 45:22Speaker 3: obviously Utah would have loved to have him fall, but
- 45:26Speaker 3: he didn't. So he goes to the Washington Wizard, which
- 45:30Speaker 3: speaking the Wizards locally own.
- 45:35Speaker 1: God, what is o U's Well, hope this is still going?
- 45:39Speaker 1: Do you think we're out? Yeah? I just can't. I
- 45:45Speaker 1: just can't do anything to it. So I hoping it's
- 45:46Speaker 1: still going.
- 45:46Speaker 3: No OU player basketball signed with the traded by from
- 45:49Speaker 3: the Hawks. Why cannot think of his Trey Young? Yes,
- 45:52Speaker 3: Trey re signed with the Wizards. Wizards to get that
- 45:56Speaker 3: every one pick. Then Darren Peterson goes to the Jazz.
- 46:00Speaker 3: Darrek Peterson is the best player in the draft, I think,
- 46:04Speaker 3: talent wise. But the stuff at Kansas about the the
- 46:09Speaker 3: risk the cramps not playing something was weird about Yeah,
- 46:15Speaker 3: and just I don't know, but but I thought Utah.
- 46:21Speaker 3: It was great, I mean, and they had to pick him.
- 46:23Speaker 3: A third pick of the draft goes to Cameron Boozer,
- 46:27Speaker 3: which I think is going to be the most consistent.
- 46:31Speaker 3: He might not have the most scoring, he might not
- 46:36Speaker 3: have the most rebounds, but that guy's going to be
- 46:38Speaker 3: all rookie team. He's probably going to be in the
- 46:41Speaker 3: league for ten twelve years, easy to and be a
- 46:44Speaker 3: starter simply because his makeup, his brain, all that stuff,
- 46:48Speaker 3: hard work, he's not not lazy.
- 46:51Speaker 1: He doesn't have to carry his brother.
- 46:54Speaker 3: Yeah, so obviously he's number three pick there, so good
- 47:01Speaker 3: for hold on and then I'll get that down, Okay,
- 47:07Speaker 3: so Thunder, we'll talk about it now as we go
- 47:10Speaker 3: down there. No, and then Kayleb Wilson went to the
- 47:11Speaker 3: Bulls number four. I think he's the best player in
- 47:14Speaker 3: the draft. Uh, that's my opinion. He was hurt during
- 47:17Speaker 3: the series and uh and I like Dycuff too. I
- 47:20Speaker 3: think he went to the Kings. But Thunder, they've got
- 47:24Speaker 3: to twelve firms to twelve, they've got two first round
- 47:27Speaker 3: draft picks. First one was at twelve and they take
- 47:29Speaker 3: a day Mars Center from Michigan, seven foot three guy.
- 47:35Speaker 3: This was the Clippers draft pick. This is still one
- 47:38Speaker 3: from the Shape trade many many, many years ago. It
- 47:43Speaker 3: seems like but you.
- 47:45Speaker 1: Look at a day and you go, who is this
- 47:47Speaker 1: a day?
- 47:48Speaker 3: Mara Well obviously from Spain, seven foot three, played at UCLA.
- 47:53Speaker 3: Transfer to Michigan this year, was the third team All
- 47:58Speaker 3: Big Ten but he was the Big Ten Defensive Player
- 48:01Speaker 3: of the Year this year. Was you sleeping yeah there? Well,
- 48:05Speaker 3: I mean it is the thunder dude. I mean, it's
- 48:07Speaker 3: not like we're talking about the Alabama dude.
- 48:10Speaker 1: You have.
- 48:12Speaker 3: No, he's a big didn't Hey, we took bit and
- 48:16Speaker 3: ships Big ten.
- 48:19Speaker 1: Uh. Trade with Oklahoma City, Yes.
- 48:22Speaker 3: And then we took the Memphis shirts.
- 48:24Speaker 1: Then we got a Oklahoma State got o'blacky ocky.
- 48:28Speaker 2: But we got shirts.
- 48:29Speaker 3: So anyway, No, we didn't get Yes, we did this.
- 48:33Speaker 1: They traded him too. Yes, so wait, so Memphis grabs
- 48:36Speaker 1: him and then trades him immediately.
- 48:37Speaker 3: No, we swapped picks with Memphis, so Memphis took No,
- 48:42Speaker 3: Memphis took Ukubert and then traded to Detroit. So he
- 48:46Speaker 3: traded to Detroit via Memphis. Because this is that was
- 48:50Speaker 3: our original pick. We moved up a pick, we traded
- 48:54Speaker 3: Memphis picks. We swapped picks. We went up one, give
- 48:56Speaker 3: Memphis two second rounders somewhere down the road, and so
- 49:00Speaker 3: we got it's what it is. I'm just telling you
- 49:04Speaker 3: that says that Memphis tooker.
- 49:07Speaker 2: It's memphisis pick. So they picked him.
- 49:11Speaker 3: Stitts Stritz starts all right, Benett stern't.
- 49:15Speaker 1: I don't understand.
- 49:17Speaker 3: Iowa point guard from Missouri played started his years at
- 49:21Speaker 3: Northwest Missouri State and then went to Drake. So he
- 49:23Speaker 3: followed McCollum who got hired at Iowa. I can't stand
- 49:26Speaker 3: Drake and and so this is the college Drake, so
- 49:31Speaker 3: first team all big kids.
- 49:32Speaker 1: Couldn't stand high school Drake, the first.
- 49:35Speaker 3: Team All first team All bit ten in this year.
- 49:38Speaker 3: He was first team All in Missouri Valley in twenty
- 49:40Speaker 3: five Missouri Valley Tournament tournament, and then he was in
- 49:46Speaker 3: a Missouri Value Player of the Year as well. Good kid,
- 49:50Speaker 3: and Iowa made it to the Elite eight.
- 49:51Speaker 1: If you remember, did they did? I do remember? And
- 49:54Speaker 1: I think they lost their coach.
- 49:55Speaker 2: No, no, he just they just done their coach.
- 49:58Speaker 1: No, they lost their they lost their Paul coach at
- 50:00Speaker 1: that time.
- 50:03Speaker 3: Who did, No, Kirk's still there. Oh yeah, Iowa state. Yes,
- 50:08Speaker 3: this is Iowa, Iowa. All right, so there's your draft
- 50:13Speaker 3: and we have actually the number.
- 50:14Speaker 1: Congratulations Kyle Pete. I don't know if you're in Phoenix,
- 50:18Speaker 1: Kentucky or in Arizona.
- 50:21Speaker 3: He was an Arizona that is now with Phoenix and
- 50:26Speaker 3: he fell he d How does that work? Yeah, well
- 50:29Speaker 3: you're just not reading it.
- 50:30Speaker 1: I'm reading it by the symbol next to it should
- 50:33Speaker 1: be the team that has the guy.
- 50:34Speaker 2: Well, if you read it, it says it's got him, right,
- 50:37Speaker 2: and that.
- 50:38Speaker 1: Would say that this was a pick, the number sixteen
- 50:43Speaker 1: n C NBA draft pick.
- 50:45Speaker 2: Yeah, he didn't was a pick. They didn't change the
- 50:48Speaker 2: order of the teams. They just changed.
- 50:51Speaker 3: See like the Bulls, they got Swan because that was
- 50:56Speaker 3: their own pick.
- 50:59Speaker 1: So has been traded Tolahoma City. There you go, and
- 51:03Speaker 1: this is what that's what makes those sense NFL. They
- 51:07Speaker 1: show you who's taking the guy.
- 51:09Speaker 2: What says he's got him?
- 51:10Speaker 1: Just traded. So this guy so Oberg got traded three times.
- 51:16Speaker 3: Essentially, Yes, pick was traded. They picked him.
- 51:21Speaker 1: Ladies and gentlemen never go to the NBA, and Memphis.
- 51:23Speaker 2: Took him to Detroit.
- 51:23Speaker 1: Got hold the Detroit went I want you there. You
- 51:27Speaker 1: only play about half the time that you need to.
- 51:32Speaker 3: Yeah, it was good second round, second round and second
- 51:35Speaker 3: round and.
- 51:37Speaker 1: We have the second page. Okay on record. Anyway, we
- 51:40Speaker 1: talk about bricker stuff in his contract. I know you
- 51:42Speaker 1: brought that up, and everybody says it. It's weird for
- 51:46Speaker 1: a one year for somebody who's not JB.
- 51:50Speaker 3: JB's national The NBA Coach Association president, so he says, Mari,
- 51:54Speaker 3: Mike and Nory's contract was slapping the face to the
- 51:59Speaker 3: coaches and in the league. So sent you. What it
- 52:02Speaker 3: is is, where did Nori come from?
- 52:05Speaker 1: Greg Nory?
- 52:08Speaker 3: I know.
- 52:10Speaker 1: He came. Did he come from?
- 52:13Speaker 2: It was Minnesota's assistant, wasn't he ship?
- 52:17Speaker 1: It is Minnesota, Minnesota? This is he's going to be
- 52:20Speaker 1: a really good coach. Actually, well, because I saw, oh there,
- 52:23Speaker 1: if I just scroll down, I want to saw uh
- 52:25Speaker 1: Now I saw that. Uh did Oklahoma City did they
- 52:30Speaker 1: lose a guy or traded Wiggins? Yeah? I know Wiggins
- 52:33Speaker 1: is gone, but I'm talking about a staff, a basketball
- 52:36Speaker 1: staff move. I don't know. Oh, I did know that.
- 52:40Speaker 1: I wanted to talk about the or the New York Knicks,
- 52:43Speaker 1: fucking whole team. I didn't realize that they were all transplants.
- 52:48Speaker 1: Do you mean Philadelphia seven six ers know the players?
- 52:53Speaker 1: Would you of those players were not originally drafted? Ye?
- 52:57Speaker 3: Well, and Brunston. You know, I told you Brunton took
- 52:59Speaker 3: a favorable contract because his dad, right, But.
- 53:02Speaker 1: You know they they they questioned that GM and and
- 53:06Speaker 1: his methods, and he goes, well, look at this team
- 53:09Speaker 1: I put together. A majority of them're old seventy six.
- 53:12Speaker 1: Is he got an old Oklahoma City guy which I
- 53:14Speaker 1: forgot dreads was there? Or you know, the kid with
- 53:18Speaker 1: the cornrows and the and the I don't know he
- 53:23Speaker 1: wears the sweatband. Is it not about you? Oh?
- 53:28Speaker 3: No, no, no, yeah band, I know, No, it's from you.
- 53:31Speaker 3: Talk about that now?
- 53:32Speaker 1: Still hold.
- 53:36Speaker 3: Okay, Mike Brown's a new coach obviously, so he brought
- 53:40Speaker 3: his staff. No you're no, you're not talking about the
- 53:44Speaker 3: Oklahoma City's old coach is.
- 53:46Speaker 1: On staff there? Okay, Okay, that's what I saw.
- 53:49Speaker 2: Yes, yes, he's definitely not got corners.
- 53:52Speaker 1: No, no, I was talking about Okay, No, let me
- 53:56Speaker 1: let me make a look at the guy. No, it's uh,
- 53:59Speaker 1: I got you know who I'm talking about. I forgot
- 54:02Speaker 1: that he played in Oklahoma.
- 54:03Speaker 3: Mark Bryant was an Oklahom assistant. Maurice Cheeks at one
- 54:06Speaker 3: time was an assistant.
- 54:10Speaker 1: And then.
- 54:13Speaker 3: I'm trying to think, so Mike Brown's and then uh,
- 54:15Speaker 3: Mark Bryant Maurice Cheks were both there. Rick Brunson, he
- 54:18Speaker 3: was a former player, obviously, that's his dad, the son.
- 54:21Speaker 1: And where did was it?
- 54:25Speaker 3: Jordan Clarkson, he was a Tulsa guy for a year
- 54:30Speaker 3: and then he was a Missouri guy after that. She
- 54:32Speaker 3: started in Tulsa.
- 54:34Speaker 1: Which one of these guys played one of the one
- 54:36Speaker 1: of these guys came from home.
- 54:39Speaker 3: Jordan Clarkson was a Tulsa No, no, no, I mean
- 54:41Speaker 3: like came from a lot of city like born there.
- 54:47Speaker 1: No it played the played in the Thunder. Oh played
- 54:49Speaker 1: with the Thunder.
- 54:50Speaker 2: We'll go back over there.
- 54:51Speaker 3: Let me go look at their line, go back and
- 54:53Speaker 3: look at their because Clarkson was a Laker at one
- 54:56Speaker 3: time too.
- 54:58Speaker 2: Uh b uh.
- 55:04Speaker 1: I forgot which one of these guys was.
- 55:07Speaker 3: I don't okay, nice.
- 55:10Speaker 1: Something about it. Maybe he may have been drafted by
- 55:12Speaker 1: Oklahoma City then.
- 55:13Speaker 3: Maybe, but yeah, Clarkson had to tie because he transferred.
- 55:21Speaker 3: That was when the trance They started transferring immediately you know,
- 55:25Speaker 3: didn't have to set out and he transferred after one
- 55:28Speaker 3: year in Tulsa.
- 55:31Speaker 2: I don't think he was the Danny Manning here.
- 55:33Speaker 1: I think he was woaching still, But there you go.
- 55:39Speaker 1: N b A.
- 55:40Speaker 3: Yeah, I think I think that's.
- 55:43Speaker 1: That's all I had for the draft.
- 55:44Speaker 2: Watch it tonight, second round.
- 55:47Speaker 1: NHL. NHL news they're exploring going to Austin or Houston
- 55:52Speaker 1: for their next expansion team, which go to Tulsa. Just
- 55:55Speaker 1: don't go to those trains, freaking really what? Yeah, that's it? Well,
- 56:00Speaker 1: you gotta think they're they're gonna have to eventually have
- 56:03Speaker 1: one team in each in each area. What do you
- 56:07Speaker 1: mean you're gonna if you expands only to keep yeah, yeah,
- 56:14Speaker 1: to keep everything level, you're gonna have to have a team.
- 56:16Speaker 1: And how many they gonna bring in currently, maybe one
- 56:20Speaker 1: to two, one to two at a time.
- 56:23Speaker 3: Hey, another thing that's gonna hurt Tulsa Orikama City's chances
- 56:26Speaker 3: of getting an expansion team, which we're not talked about
- 56:28Speaker 3: right now.
- 56:29Speaker 1: For also has talked about more in hockey than but.
- 56:33Speaker 3: It looks like the Stars are moving to Plano, which
- 56:35Speaker 3: is another thirty minutes closer to the it's north Dallas,
- 56:39Speaker 3: So it's another thirty minutes north of Dallas.
- 56:41Speaker 1: They're outdoor. Their outdoor game is gonna be at the
- 56:44Speaker 1: Old Ranger Stadium.
- 56:47Speaker 3: Yeah, you're talking about the one that the outdoor series, Jeff, Jeff.
- 56:53Speaker 3: But that's where the football team plays, right, what do
- 56:55Speaker 3: they call Renegade's Yeah, that's their stadium.
- 56:58Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 56:59Speaker 3: Uh.
- 56:59Speaker 1: And it looks like the Buffalo Sabers are just degrees.
- 57:06Speaker 3: Or I.
- 57:08Speaker 1: Actually can get both. It'll be it'll be yeah the
- 57:13Speaker 1: next day. Uh, it looks like the Buffalo Sabers. You
- 57:16Speaker 1: remember that really good team that you were high on. Yeah,
- 57:19Speaker 1: looks like they're they're they're they're getting I guess. So
- 57:24Speaker 1: the capture taking taken Chuck Alex Chuck, so what what?
- 57:31Speaker 3: So?
- 57:31Speaker 1: What theis get hold on? And I know from Chicago
- 57:35Speaker 1: they got a bunch. So Chuck is signing eight year
- 57:38Speaker 1: extension with the Capital's averaging ten point five a year
- 57:42Speaker 1: and the Sabers are getting a draft pick in return.
- 57:46Speaker 1: He's thirty, he was going to be unrestricted at the summer.
- 57:51Speaker 1: He's a veteran winger. They didn't want to resign him.
- 57:54Speaker 1: Chuck is receiving he's getting a significant raise. He had
- 57:58Speaker 1: initially signed with the Knights for seven year contract when
- 58:04Speaker 1: he started. Uh, let's see, the Sabers now get some
- 58:08Speaker 1: compensation for allowing them to skip the line ahead of
- 58:13Speaker 1: the July first free agency. What does that mean? How
- 58:19Speaker 1: does that work? It's hockey. Nobody does that last word.
- 58:25Speaker 1: I think it's a flexibility in the pick, isn't it. Yeah?
- 58:30Speaker 2: So, so what was the deal with the Blackhawks?
- 58:31Speaker 1: Okay, so they got a significant hal for the black
- 58:33Speaker 1: Hawks on Tuesday, including the number four pick in Friday's draft.
- 58:39Speaker 1: They sent bow and Byron, Bow and Byron to Chicago.
- 58:44Speaker 1: They got that pick, and they've got three four other
- 58:47Speaker 1: picks coming up and in the next in the next
- 58:51Speaker 1: few drafts.
- 58:55Speaker 3: Well, and then the Capitals turn around and give it
- 58:57Speaker 3: Connor McMichael in the first round pick as well.
- 59:00Speaker 1: So yeah, so, and with the vein about to go out,
- 59:04Speaker 1: I don't.
- 59:04Speaker 3: Know why Now did Boone want to go Why did
- 59:07Speaker 3: he go back down?
- 59:08Speaker 1: Why did he want to go there? He thinks he's
- 59:13Speaker 1: ready to leave the team.
- 59:14Speaker 3: Well, I mean it's Chicago preferred choice. Now there you go, Sean,
- 59:18Speaker 3: there's it's going to tell you're out there everything. They
- 59:20Speaker 3: give a yeah trade, right, then low, ye, there it
- 59:25Speaker 3: is black Hawks scent the number four and forty five selections,
- 59:30Speaker 3: and Crevier to the Sabers for brand.
- 59:32Speaker 1: Luise Seray to the uh Sabers.
- 59:36Speaker 2: And so how deep is the draft this year?
- 59:40Speaker 1: It's very deep, it's actually and they everyone's wondering if
- 59:45Speaker 1: the black Hawks didn't screw themselves out of that number four.
- 59:49Speaker 2: Well, how if they took how Byron? I mean, that's
- 59:53Speaker 2: the thing to look at too.
- 59:55Speaker 1: I don't know, have to Hi's ready, thought me? So
- 1:00:01Speaker 1: where does this go? Uh? He was born in twenty Oh,
- 1:00:06Speaker 1: we'll see. That's not bad. I mean, so you're looking
- 1:00:08Speaker 1: at he was the first round number four pick from Colorado.
- 1:00:14Speaker 1: Let's see, he was drafted in twenty nineteen by Colorado.
- 1:00:18Speaker 1: That's why they That's why that name sounds so unfamiliar.
- 1:00:22Speaker 1: What do I don't know? Did you see the team
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: they had this year? Well? Maybe I get it, get it?
- 1:00:33Speaker 1: Don't No, you'd have to go back and final that
- 1:00:35Speaker 1: stupid news. I mean, I wish that they did stuff correctly.
- 1:00:38Speaker 3: Twenty six and twenty seventh in Buffalo, New York.
- 1:00:40Speaker 2: Oh, for the draft's gonna be help.
- 1:00:42Speaker 1: So he played?
- 1:00:44Speaker 2: How interesting.
- 1:00:47Speaker 1: He it looks like he's just spent time between Colorado
- 1:00:49Speaker 1: and Buffalo.
- 1:00:51Speaker 3: So from twenty from Penn State University, Caleb Mahultra from Brantford,
- 1:00:58Speaker 3: and then Carson Carrol and Chase Reed top ring North
- 1:01:01Speaker 3: Americ Defense and generating right, and that looks like the
- 1:01:04Speaker 3: top four prospects, right.
- 1:01:06Speaker 1: And they said that Chicago taking this, checking this gamble
- 1:01:11Speaker 1: on getting buying them and giving up so much for him,
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: could turn around to buy him in the ass. But
- 1:01:16Speaker 1: if you look at his regular seat, you look at
- 1:01:17Speaker 1: buying them stats. He played from twenty one to twenty
- 1:01:20Speaker 1: three with the Avs, went to Buffaloes for twenty four,
- 1:01:24Speaker 1: came back to the Avs twenty three to twenty four,
- 1:01:28Speaker 1: and then played Buffalo twenty four to twenty six. Gotcha
- 1:01:34Speaker 1: all right?
- 1:01:34Speaker 3: So I'm guessing he thinks if your hockey, So that
- 1:01:39Speaker 3: starts at twenty six, twenty seven, like reminders, second round
- 1:01:42Speaker 3: NBA starts to slide.
- 1:01:45Speaker 1: I've got uh just a quick ball. Oakloum.
- 1:01:50Speaker 3: Supring Court granted Owen Heineke's attorneys and him motioned to
- 1:01:54Speaker 3: dismiss the NCAA appeal for him getting an injunct for
- 1:01:59Speaker 3: the original injunction they give him, so to me, it
- 1:02:02Speaker 3: looks like he's going to be back, and my, oh my,
- 1:02:05Speaker 3: is our defense going to be good?
- 1:02:09Speaker 1: I'm not.
- 1:02:10Speaker 3: We'll get ready to start doing our predictions. But if
- 1:02:13Speaker 3: we don't have a top five defense in the league
- 1:02:16Speaker 3: or in the nation again, I'd be very surprised, especially
- 1:02:18Speaker 3: with the defensive line and the secondary that I understand.
- 1:02:21Speaker 1: I know that, and just the depth, I mean, the
- 1:02:24Speaker 1: depth is crazy that we have suit alleges. Hold on,
- 1:02:29Speaker 1: what is this suit alleged of the NCAA rule unfair?
- 1:02:31Speaker 1: A high school class of twenty twenty.
- 1:02:33Speaker 3: Two, Okay, so that's going to be that that waiver
- 1:02:38Speaker 3: of the five year period. They're going to have to
- 1:02:42Speaker 3: stretch this out because there is always going to be
- 1:02:45Speaker 3: one class.
- 1:02:46Speaker 1: Everybody's gonna end up getting a by year like the
- 1:02:49Speaker 1: COVID year. Well, especially once you start. That's what I'm saying,
- 1:02:53Speaker 1: if everybody's these kids are gonna end up with a
- 1:02:56Speaker 1: COVID year, yes, correct, essentially, because you can't say.
- 1:03:04Speaker 3: Four years of competition in four years will not be
- 1:03:06Speaker 3: allowed a fifth because it's now twenty six class two,
- 1:03:11Speaker 3: so they should be getting another year not being able
- 1:03:13Speaker 3: to being kicked out if they had never read shirt
- 1:03:16Speaker 3: or something like that. But anyway, Nope, that's all I
- 1:03:20Speaker 3: have as far as notes anything else.
- 1:03:24Speaker 1: Not really, we'll talk. We'll talk a little bit more because.
- 1:03:27Speaker 3: I know that you and I I've done more on
- 1:03:30Speaker 3: the NBA Draft this week and watched it than I
- 1:03:33Speaker 3: have about the coaching changes.
- 1:03:34Speaker 2: We'll talk a little bit about that next week.
- 1:03:35Speaker 1: Yeah, the Bulls that finally had and I think we
- 1:03:37Speaker 1: covered that a week ago briefly.
- 1:03:40Speaker 3: We didn't really talk about who it was, and we
- 1:03:43Speaker 3: got to talking about Mike and Norri today long time
- 1:03:47Speaker 3: assistant with who I think Minnesota's coaches.
- 1:03:51Speaker 1: Brandon Ayuk is still being a giant ass and nobody
- 1:03:54Speaker 1: wants him.
- 1:03:56Speaker 2: It's god he's got.
- 1:03:58Speaker 1: I think Stefan Diggs, I haven't seen anything. I don't
- 1:04:00Speaker 1: think he's been signed yet. And that's Kenny's favorite guy.
- 1:04:03Speaker 3: Who Yeah, that surprises me too. That just no one
- 1:04:08Speaker 3: like a deadline that it gets cheaper or some ship later.
- 1:04:11Speaker 1: H Kyle Pitt's got a three year deal, got a
- 1:04:14Speaker 1: three year extension, which is good for him because he's
- 1:04:17Speaker 1: been their their heavy target.
- 1:04:19Speaker 3: And then obviously Simmons agrees to that huge ass apparently
- 1:04:22Speaker 3: one of the best tackles in the league.
- 1:04:24Speaker 1: Apparently Gino Smith just can't stay out of trouble right
- 1:04:26Speaker 1: now because I got a battery claim.
- 1:04:28Speaker 3: Yeah, our vikings are our vikings.
- 1:04:31Speaker 2: Bystanders sent me that, and I was like, poor.
- 1:04:34Speaker 1: Gino, come on, brother, we rooted for you to come
- 1:04:37Speaker 1: back and not come back like you were Ray Rice.
- 1:04:41Speaker 3: No, and that was the one thing we didn't mention
- 1:04:43Speaker 3: about college basketball. That was the big news we're talking about.
- 1:04:46Speaker 3: Dusty May left, Michigan won the next Yeah.
- 1:04:51Speaker 1: We mentioned the Mavericks how many times?
- 1:04:53Speaker 3: Yes, So coaching changes right now? Uh, obviously Mike and
- 1:04:58Speaker 3: Nora gets hired by the UH Trailblazers Chicago Splitter who
- 1:05:02Speaker 3: was at the Trailblazers. I believe UH Splitter Thiciago Splitter
- 1:05:06Speaker 3: is the new coach for.
- 1:05:11Speaker 1: Doubles. Doubles. I don't know where he's going with this.
- 1:05:16Speaker 3: I'm just saying, and I'm trying to think, and I
- 1:05:19Speaker 3: don't know why they really.
- 1:05:20Speaker 1: Ladies and gentlemen, this is why didn't they sign him?
- 1:05:22Speaker 2: Though, no, he said why did that?
- 1:05:24Speaker 1: Didn't know why?
- 1:05:25Speaker 3: I mean, okay, back up, I know why Portland Thiago
- 1:05:29Speaker 3: didn't sign. Look at that contract. Look at that contract.
- 1:05:34Speaker 3: I thought, why did Portland let go of Thiago Splitter?
- 1:05:36Speaker 3: I thought, he's pretty good coach, and why do you
- 1:05:38Speaker 3: go the Bulls? And then you see the ship contract
- 1:05:41Speaker 3: we talked about.
- 1:05:41Speaker 2: It makes a lot of sense.
- 1:05:42Speaker 1: Were they No?
- 1:05:43Speaker 3: Magic hired Sean Sweeney, which was kind of surprised because
- 1:05:46Speaker 3: the Magic had a pretty good year. They were a
- 1:05:48Speaker 3: little disappointing. Jason Kidd gets fired, Dusty May leaves Michigan
- 1:05:52Speaker 3: Milwaukee Bucks. Uh, you know, dowc is gone. They hired
- 1:05:56Speaker 3: Taylor Dinkins.
- 1:05:58Speaker 1: Come back in the butt and the end of the
- 1:06:00Speaker 1: eighth and the.
- 1:06:01Speaker 3: And the Pelicans hired Jamal Moseley who was let.
- 1:06:05Speaker 1: Go by the Let's do some World Cup? Oh yes, kidny, Okay,
- 1:06:09Speaker 1: Ladies and gentlemen. Trying to explain soccer to kid, football
- 1:06:13Speaker 1: to Kenny is one of the most difficult things, and
- 1:06:16Speaker 1: I just avoid it.
- 1:06:20Speaker 2: Well, it's I think that I don't understand how I was.
- 1:06:23Speaker 1: I was, I was watching it. I was watching I
- 1:06:25Speaker 1: was watching, you know, the OU baseball game out at
- 1:06:28Speaker 1: your establishment. And Judy was out there and she goes,
- 1:06:31Speaker 1: she said something about watching watching Germany play Mexico in London,
- 1:06:37Speaker 1: and I'm like, it's impossible. She was London what And
- 1:06:41Speaker 1: I was like, it's impossible. We're only playing in Canada,
- 1:06:44Speaker 1: US and Mexico and they're not even in the same grouping.
- 1:06:48Speaker 1: She goes, I watched it. I was like, I don't
- 1:06:50Speaker 1: think you did.
- 1:06:50Speaker 3: They might have played a friendly early.
- 1:06:53Speaker 1: It could have been friendly, it could have been a repeat,
- 1:06:57Speaker 1: it could have been it could have been Champions League,
- 1:06:59Speaker 1: Premier League.
- 1:07:00Speaker 2: Well, they played some friendlies pretty close.
- 1:07:02Speaker 1: Up to the they did, and everybody was questioning that
- 1:07:05Speaker 1: why are they doing that so soon? So knockout stages
- 1:07:09Speaker 1: I already know. I do know that currently Germany, Mexico,
- 1:07:14Speaker 1: who was the first in America, were the teams that
- 1:07:17Speaker 1: were in. I just Canada made it in. I think
- 1:07:22Speaker 1: that's it, Argentina, Argentina and Switzerland. Argentina made it in
- 1:07:26Speaker 1: yesterday talking about so those are the current teams.
- 1:07:29Speaker 3: In Canada, Yes, Canada, Germany, USA.
- 1:07:33Speaker 1: Those are the current in the knockout stage, Mexico, Switzerland, Argentina.
- 1:07:38Speaker 1: Because it turns into if you, if it needs to
- 1:07:41Speaker 1: be explained to you, in regular American sports, you end
- 1:07:46Speaker 1: up in the round of thirty two down to sixteen
- 1:07:48Speaker 1: then you end up quarters semis and you end up
- 1:07:51Speaker 1: with the third place in first place matches, which of
- 1:07:55Speaker 1: us has never.
- 1:07:55Speaker 3: Won, and they're going to put a lot. They're not
- 1:07:58Speaker 3: going to win this year, but they're pretty good team. Actually,
- 1:08:01Speaker 3: I don't think they're good enough to win. You're gonna
- 1:08:03Speaker 3: one of the.
- 1:08:03Speaker 1: Issues with the World Cup is that it's every four years.
- 1:08:07Speaker 2: Yeah, it's not an issue though.
- 1:08:09Speaker 1: That is because some of the really good guys that
- 1:08:11Speaker 1: should be in that team too old, end up aging.
- 1:08:16Speaker 1: Gonna say they got to the ends up aging out.
- 1:08:20Speaker 3: But MESSI Ronaldo, they're still kicking ass. I think Ronaldo
- 1:08:22Speaker 3: had like three or four goals, you know, the other day.
- 1:08:25Speaker 1: So you want to see if I could do this
- 1:08:27Speaker 1: like a like a soccer announcer.
- 1:08:30Speaker 2: Go ahead, let's see what you got.
- 1:08:32Speaker 1: FIFA World Cup Group A standings Number one Mexico at
- 1:08:36Speaker 1: two wins, zero losses, zero draws. South Korea one win,
- 1:08:41Speaker 1: zero draws, one loss. Chis Ch comes in number three
- 1:08:49Speaker 1: with one draw, one loss. South Africa at number four
- 1:08:53Speaker 1: with one draw one loss. Post h gold differential is
- 1:08:56Speaker 1: negative two to negative one.
- 1:08:58Speaker 2: Now just wait for the pronunciations, folks.
- 1:09:00Speaker 1: It's getting Switzerland in Group B is number one with
- 1:09:05Speaker 1: two wins one draw with plus four differential. Canada at
- 1:09:10Speaker 1: number two with one win, one draw, one loss. Bosnia
- 1:09:15Speaker 1: Herzgovnia is number three at one one and one. Qatar
- 1:09:20Speaker 1: comes in at one draw, two losses. Group C Brazil
- 1:09:26Speaker 1: one win, one draw. Morocco comes in at one win,
- 1:09:30Speaker 1: one draw, setting at number two. The gold differential is
- 1:09:33Speaker 1: that Brazil has plus three two Moroccos plus one. Scotland
- 1:09:38Speaker 1: comes in at one win, one loss, and I know
- 1:09:41Speaker 1: that they've been drinking Boston and every place they go dry.
- 1:09:45Speaker 1: Haiti comes in at two losses. Group D Americans, the
- 1:09:52Speaker 1: United States.
- 1:09:58Speaker 3: Yo, you Becka said what I wanted to.
- 1:10:03Speaker 1: Democratic Republic, England, Gona, Croatia, Panama, Elgeria, Argentina. I want to,
- 1:10:11Speaker 1: but you really wanted to Senegalese, the iraqis.
- 1:10:17Speaker 3: And like I said, it is kind of the slow
