- 0:00[SPEAKER_01]: Hey friend, thank you for listening to Bible track decos.
- 0:03[SPEAKER_01]: I'm Mike McCree, your host.
- 0:05[SPEAKER_01]: I greatly appreciate the opportunity I have to speak to you today I'd like to dive right in in just a moment grab your bottles go to the book of Luke chapter 15 Luke 15 will be looking at a familiar passage But as we begin, I'd like to introduce the topic.
- 0:24[SPEAKER_01]: We'll be speaking about twenty first century evangelism
- 0:29[SPEAKER_01]: What does that mean though?
- 0:30[SPEAKER_01]: 21st century of angelism.
- 0:32[SPEAKER_01]: This week, I wanted to dive into and unpack that thought.
- 0:37[SPEAKER_01]: When I say evangelism, I mean reaching people for the cause of the glorious gospel of Jesus Christ, telling people about their need.
- 0:46[SPEAKER_01]: for a Savior.
- 0:48[SPEAKER_01]: We all have a commission, a great commission that has been given to us as Christians, and I encourage you this week to partake in, to take up your mantle as part of the family of God.
- 1:02[SPEAKER_01]: I've said many a time, but there's always another seat at the table.
- 1:07[SPEAKER_01]: There's always enough bread.
- 1:09[SPEAKER_01]: You've heard it said that salvation, the gospel is just one beggar.
- 1:13[SPEAKER_01]: telling another beggar where they found bread, and it's true.
- 1:18[SPEAKER_01]: My goal today is not to come to you from ivory towers to not stand on a soap box to not abludging you about the head and shoulders with some esoteric or some extra bit of knowledge that I have.
- 1:32[SPEAKER_01]: I'd like to share the Bible in just a little bit of logic, and so we're gonna talk about 21st century evangelism.
- 1:39[SPEAKER_01]: Are you ready?
- 1:42[SPEAKER_01]: Here we go Luke 15.
- 1:44[SPEAKER_01]: Look at verse number.
- 1:46[SPEAKER_01]: Let's see here 23 familiar passage about the practical son.
- 1:50[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to jump right into the mix here.
- 1:52[SPEAKER_01]: There's a point I'd like to prove with scripture.
- 1:55[SPEAKER_01]: I'll give you a few more supporting scriptures in just a moment.
- 1:58[SPEAKER_01]: Luke 15 23 and bring Heather the fatted calf and kill it and let us eat and be merry.
- 2:05[SPEAKER_01]: For this my son was dead
- 2:12[SPEAKER_01]: Now his elder son was in the field, and as he came and drew Nye to the house, he heard music and dancing.
- 2:18[SPEAKER_01]: He called one of his servants and asked what these things meant.
- 2:22[SPEAKER_01]: And he said unto him, thy brother is calm, and thy father had to kill the fatted calf because he had to receive him safe and sound.
- 2:30[SPEAKER_01]: Now we see in the very next verse in verse number 28, he was,
- 2:36[SPEAKER_01]: angry.
- 2:37[SPEAKER_01]: The elder brother, and would not go in, therefore came his father out and intruded him, and he answering said to his father, "'Low, these many years do I serve thee.
- 2:47[SPEAKER_01]: Neither transgressed I at any time thy commandment, and yet thou never gaveest to me a kid that I might make Mary with my friends, but as soon as this thy son was come, which had devoured thy living with harlots, thou has killed for him the fatty calf."
- 3:03[SPEAKER_01]: And he said unto him, son, thou art ever with me, and all that I have is done, it was meat that we should make Mary and be glad.
- 3:12[SPEAKER_01]: For this thy brother was dead, and is alive again, and was lost, and is found.
- 3:17[SPEAKER_01]: Now we're not going to make the normal application from this passage.
- 3:20[SPEAKER_01]: You're familiar with the prodigal son.
- 3:22[SPEAKER_01]: The young man goes to his father and says, give me my inheritance and he goes, and with riot his living, and through a wicked living,
- 3:32[SPEAKER_01]: all that his father gave him and he ends up feeding the swine and eating of their food and finally he comes to the end of himself and comes home and his father rejoices and prays God for the prodigal son of returning my father-in-law who years many years ago as an elder older teenager, young at 20s, he lived that life, the Lord actually led, I wrote a song about it called the old kitchen table where his
- 3:59[SPEAKER_01]: his mother prayed at the old kitchen table and praise God he came back but my father-in-law makes mention of the fact or observes of the fact that there is only one account in scripture.
- 4:10[SPEAKER_01]: Now the prodigal son, you wonder, there may have been many more that just never came back.
- 4:15[SPEAKER_01]: application that's not where we're going.
- 4:17[SPEAKER_01]: With the point I'd like to prove in short, as we launch into this discussion of 21st century evangelism, I'd like to point out that the father, you can make the case a placeholder for God.
- 4:30[SPEAKER_01]: Of the one who is so excited to see a lost child to come home, you realize here in some ways he treated these two sons differently.
- 4:42[SPEAKER_01]: Now, it was not that he disrespected, it was not that he mistreated, it was not that he was unkind to one of his sons, but the elder son, the one who stayed home, the one who did write, the one who just told the line, that everything he was supposed to do, got a little perturbed, got a little irritated by the fact that his younger brother gets a hero's welcome when he comes back home.
- 5:05[SPEAKER_01]: The point I'd like to make is this,
- 5:07[SPEAKER_01]: That, God, just like you and parents, we are, of course, made in His image, but God treats people sometimes differently.
- 5:17[SPEAKER_01]: Realize that our children, I have two girls, Emmy and Lucy, maybe I would not understand this, maybe I would not have the ability to wrap my mind around it if I did not have two girls, but there are times when I speak to my girls, there are five and six or thereabouts, I speak to them differently.
- 5:35[SPEAKER_01]: They get disciplined differently.
- 5:38[SPEAKER_01]: They sometimes need a little bit of prodding or they need a little bit of correction, they need a little bit of praise differently.
- 5:45[SPEAKER_01]: They're different creatures.
- 5:47[SPEAKER_01]: They are both products of my wife and I, the words blessed us with Emmy and Lucy, but they are not the same.
- 5:55[SPEAKER_01]: Even if they were, as people often confuse them, even if they were twins, which they are not, they just look like it, even if they were.
- 6:02[SPEAKER_01]: they still would have subtle differences.
- 6:06[SPEAKER_01]: In a wise parent, of course, God, the wisest of them all, he realizes that people at times need to be treated differently.
- 6:16[SPEAKER_01]: You realize though a fatted cap was killed.
- 6:18[SPEAKER_01]: Though a robe was put around his shoulders, though he was given a ring, though his younger son was treated to a sumptuous occasion, a festive occasion here, you do understand.
- 6:29[SPEAKER_01]: that he had spent all of his inheritance.
- 6:33[SPEAKER_01]: He realized the father was so very happy to have him home, but it did not undo the damage that had been caused.
- 6:41[SPEAKER_01]: He welcomed him back, welcomed him back with open arms and a probably kiss on his cheek, and so happy to see him.
- 6:48[SPEAKER_01]: But you understand that there are some scars.
- 6:51[SPEAKER_01]: There were some scars that the protocol would carry for the remainder of his life.
- 6:57[SPEAKER_01]: The elder son did not understand this or did not see this in the immediate.
- 7:01[SPEAKER_01]: He just saw his brother being what seemed to be rewarded.
- 7:06[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, there was a moment of being treated differently.
- 7:09[SPEAKER_01]: But you must understand, the elder son was still due all of his inheritance.
- 7:15[SPEAKER_01]: There, over the long haul, the elder son was going to see the returns for the fact that he did not waste his father's living, the two sons.
- 7:25[SPEAKER_01]: Retreated slightly differently were they not I think of the workman in Matthew I think chapter 20 thereabouts remember those workmen that came to work and they came at different times of the day One comes in the morning one comes in the mid morning around noon one comes in the afternoon one comes with maybe just a Scant hour before it's dark, but somehow they are all paid the same you say open America
- 7:52[SPEAKER_01]: This is proof positive that you are wrong.
- 7:55[SPEAKER_01]: People are not treated differently.
- 7:57[SPEAKER_01]: Actually, though they all got the exact same wage, they were treated differently.
- 8:02[SPEAKER_01]: Because they all had to work 12, 14 hours.
- 8:05[SPEAKER_01]: Another, maybe 10, another six or so, another barely an hour.
- 8:10[SPEAKER_01]: And they all received the same wage.
- 8:13[SPEAKER_01]: They were truly treated differently.
- 8:16[SPEAKER_01]: What's the point you're trying to prove by the Micah?
- 8:18[SPEAKER_01]: As we talk about 21st century evangelism.
- 8:21[SPEAKER_01]: I've already said, I've already explained my thoughts on evangelism.
- 8:25[SPEAKER_01]: It's the desire to see people saved for the cause of Christ.
- 8:29[SPEAKER_01]: It's the desire to explain the scriptures, to preach the gospel, either so many different ways we could define that.
- 8:36[SPEAKER_01]: I think we have some understanding of evangelism, but why do I say 21st century, why but that qualifier on it?
- 8:44[SPEAKER_01]: Why not just say we're gonna study evangelism.
- 8:47[SPEAKER_01]: We're gonna look at great preachers of the past We're gonna look at great soul winners.
- 8:51[SPEAKER_01]: Why do we need to talk about twenty-first century evangelism?
- 8:56[SPEAKER_01]: Salvation hasn't changed as it no friend got offers the same salvation to all but God like a father deals with different people
- 9:07[SPEAKER_01]: in different ways.
- 9:08[SPEAKER_01]: Now you could say he deals with people in different ways based on where they're from.
- 9:12[SPEAKER_01]: That is true based on their upbringing.
- 9:14[SPEAKER_01]: Absolutely.
- 9:16[SPEAKER_01]: God is a very wise and loving and kind father.
- 9:20[SPEAKER_01]: But at the end of the day, 21st century of angelism just by the end of the fact that it is now and not 10, 20, 100 or 1000 years ago is subtly different.
- 9:33[SPEAKER_01]: The gospel has not changed by grace through faith, but as we go forward, speaking about 21st century evangelism, I want to talk about the incredible tools that are available to us.
- 9:46[SPEAKER_01]: I want to talk about the opportunities I want to convince you to compel you to avail yourself of the fact that in these what may be.
- 9:54[SPEAKER_01]: The last days before Christ returns, we have a grand privilege of reaching people for the cause of the gospel, and we can do so in a way that our forefathers never could hear in the 21st.
- 10:09[SPEAKER_01]: Century, that is the goal of this week of broadcasts.
- 10:13[SPEAKER_01]: So I encourage you.
- 10:14[SPEAKER_01]: If you have a question, comment, even a critique, I'd love to hear from you.

- 10:53[SPEAKER_01]: Don't put it off.
- 10:54[SPEAKER_01]: Don't put it into the future.
- 10:55[SPEAKER_01]: We're talking about 21st century evangelism.
- 10:58[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe we should just call it evangelism today.
- 11:01[SPEAKER_01]: Evangelism tomorrow.
- 11:03[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not going to say it next week of the month after.
- 11:05[SPEAKER_01]: because we need to make this a practice, we need to make this a desire in the immediate.
